- 0:00You're listening to Bantor with the Boys, talking all things sports.
- 0:08From betting and brawls, Superball to Stanley Cup Finals.
- 0:13Get laced up.
- 0:14It's time for Bantor with the Boys.
- 0:30What's up everybody?
- 0:31Welcome back to Bantor with the Boys.
- 0:33We're back at you this week.
- 0:34I had a fun week in Vegas, I tell you what.
- 0:37Congrats again to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
- 0:41Getting hitched out there in Vegas.
- 0:42What a good week we had.
- 0:43But let's get back to the business here.
- 0:46Week 10 is come and gone.
- 0:48I have with me here today Smelty.
- 0:50How you doing?
- 0:51How you feeling?
- 0:52I'm doing pretty good.
- 0:53So, hold on, back up.
- 0:55So the wedding was just the front, right?
- 0:57Like you were just going to go to Vegas just to go nuts and wild and do Vegas stuff?
- 1:02The wedding's just the front?
- 1:04Eh, one could say.
- 1:06One could say.
- 1:07Had a good reason.
- 1:08Had a good reason.
- 1:09Fair enough.
- 1:10Alright, so week 10 is come and gone.
- 1:12We are on to week 11, but first let's get into the five featured games of week 10.
- 1:18We're going to start off with my Packers.
- 1:20Traveling to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 1:23Steelers were favored by three and a half.
- 1:26They did indeed cover that three and a half.
- 1:29My Packers could not pull it out.
- 1:30The Steelers ended up winning 23 to 19.
- 1:33I had my Packers winning that game.
- 1:35I would have took in the money line to be honest with you.
- 1:37I wouldn't really worry about the spread, although they did cover and we lost by that
- 1:41spread.
- 1:42The Packers Steelers winning that game, Smelty.
- 1:43Were you able to watch it at all?
- 1:46I did catch a little bit of it.
- 1:49There's one big glaring thing that kind of stuck out to me for that game.
- 1:56The Packers defense gave up over 200 rushing yards.
- 2:00That's insane.
- 2:01Like, I just like, are you kidding me?
- 2:04I mean that's going to be a big reason why they lost the game.
- 2:08Straight up.
- 2:09Well, Smelty, as a Packers fan here my whole life, the last, I say, 10 or so years, our
- 2:15run defense has been our absolute kryptonite.
- 2:17We haven't been able to stop a nose bleed.
- 2:19I mean, flashbacks of Colin Kaepernick tearing us up in the playoffs will always come back.
- 2:24But it's the defense, we will for whatever reason not be able to formulate a defense
- 2:29to be able to stop the run.
- 2:31You're looking at Najee Harris having 16 carries for 82 yards.
- 2:34That guy hasn't barely touched 82 yards on the year.
- 2:37I'll tell you, I know I have him in fantasy.
- 2:40Jalen Warren going for over 101.
- 2:42Dude, yeah, Jalen Warren.
- 2:44I just had him in my notes here.
- 2:45I just said, Jalen Warren.
- 2:47It's like, he went off.
- 2:50Yeah, so Tomlin came out and said that Jalen Warren is now starting running back as well.
- 2:54So he takes on the RB1 responsibilities going forward starting this week.
- 2:57Whoa, I did not know that.
- 3:00Very interesting.
- 3:01Yep, that came out today.
- 3:02So I actually have Jalen Warren in my same league I have with Najee Harris.
- 3:06So unfortunately played Najee instead of Jalen this week, but that switch is definitely going
- 3:11to be happening now.
- 3:13But the story of the game, in my opinion, again, is just this offense, man.
- 3:16We can't get anything going.
- 3:19Jordan Love 21 of 40.
- 3:2040 pass attempts is just absolutely insane for one, but only thrown for 289, barely complete
- 3:26in 50 passes or barely complete in a 50 percentage passer rating, which is pretty much on par
- 3:31for the year.
- 3:32And two interceptions.
- 3:33Yeah, yeah, no, for sure.
- 3:36I mean, one thing I will say about Jordan Love that you touched on, I don't know, earlier
- 3:40this season is that he can't throw a deep ball.
- 3:43I know you mentioned that a couple of times, but like this game, he at least showed that
- 3:47there was definitely a couple of deep balls that were on the money.
- 3:50So there is that.
- 3:52And he still has that ability to make plays happen after he gets out of the pocket.
- 3:56It's just whether or not he wants to tap into that ability at the given time or not.
- 4:02I don't know.
- 4:03I'm also not a huge fan.
- 4:04I think the score was you guys were down 20 to 19.
- 4:08And then there's a big trick play on third and 11 on your side of the field that just
- 4:11didn't work at all.
- 4:13And like, I just hate that play call.
- 4:15Like you're down one on your side of the field third and 11.
- 4:18Like, I mean, I guess right if it hits, you're probably catching them off guard.
- 4:21But the throw over to I don't know if it was Aaron Jones.
- 4:25I think it was Aaron Jones.
- 4:26It was just it was on the ground.
- 4:27So it was a fumble, blah, blah, blah.
- 4:28They got it.
- 4:29But he lost a bunch of yards on an opponent it away.
- 4:31But I don't know.
- 4:32Like I just that place ticks out for me in that game.
- 4:36Yeah, it's it's just it's it's porous to watch this Packers offense right now.
- 4:42But I mean, to Jordan's love credit, he had four or five throws in this game that were
- 4:45absolutely incredible.
- 4:47You touched on the deep ball ability.
- 4:48He proved me wrong in this game in that regard.
- 4:51This game couldn't complete a shorter intermediate past this game.
- 4:53Right.
- 4:54He did find that touchdown to Jayden Reed was just a beautiful just a lobbing ball that
- 4:58came in right in the bread basket and an extra point blocked.
- 5:02That's what I mean, to be honest with you, that's what essentially, you know, you can
- 5:06make an argument.
- 5:07It didn't cost us the game per se, but it was a huge play because twenty three nineteen
- 5:12we had the ball in the red zone.
- 5:13I mean, we had maybe not the red zone, but had the ball in field goal position with the
- 5:17last drive of the game after the Steelers made that that field goal.
- 5:22And we couldn't kick a field goal because we had that extra point blocked.
- 5:25So that going back to J. Love, I mean, the two touchdown passes, the one to Jayden Reed
- 5:31beautiful ball, the one to Romeo Dobbs getting it over the defenders with a little bit of
- 5:35lace on it there just back on corner.
- 5:37That corner.
- 5:38Beautiful catch to the toe tap.
- 5:39That was a great play.
- 5:40Eighty seven's been reminding me a lot of the old white eighty seven that we had just a
- 5:44number of years back here with his sideline ability.
- 5:46He reminds me a lot of don't get me wrong.
- 5:48He's not Jordan Nelson.
- 5:50Don't get me wrong.
- 5:51I'm not saying that, but he has shades of that ability.
- 5:54Yeah, he's shown good flashes of of the ability.
- 5:57Absolutely.
- 5:58Yeah.
- 5:59And it's that's impressive.
- 6:01Christian Watson.
- 6:02I don't know what the hell's happened with him.
- 6:03I mean, he's I honestly I don't get it.
- 6:07Seven targets, two catches for 23 yards.
- 6:09Now, granted, the targets don't really matter when Jordan loves your quarterback because
- 6:14he only completes 50 percent of his passes anyway.
- 6:16But that's two catches on seven targets.
- 6:18That's not even that's barely 25 percent.
- 6:21Yeah, no, I I don't know.
- 6:23Like I assume you listened to the episode last week where, you know, we had a fellow
- 6:30Packer fan on the pod and he was just saying how how he doesn't think Christian Watson's
- 6:35a true number one receiver.
- 6:36Do you do you agree with him on that?
- 6:38I would absolutely agree.
- 6:39I mean, if you look at statistically speaking this year, granted, Watson missed a couple
- 6:43of games, but just from the actual production of the receivers are have he's our third receiver
- 6:47right now.
- 6:48It's Romeo Dobbs, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson.
- 6:50So so Ben again, he was on last week.
- 6:53He sent me this thing.
- 6:54I think this was yesterday about Christian Watson.
- 6:57Christian Watson has caught just 42 percent of his targets this season, and that's the
- 7:01lowest catch percentage in the NFL.
- 7:03That's super shitty.
- 7:04That's crazy.
- 7:05Again, I mean, you look at Christian Watson and what he brings to the offense.
- 7:08He has that he's a vertical receiver.
- 7:10So a lot of those targets are very, very bad throws, not excuse you're the lowest in the
- 7:15league in terms of that.
- 7:17That's a wild stat.
- 7:18I didn't know that.
- 7:19So it's not just missing the throws.
- 7:21He's not winning the contested catches.
- 7:23He's not really creating great separation for somebody with his speed and like just
- 7:28athletic ability.
- 7:29And then what mind boggles me is he's who we target on the last play of the game that
- 7:36gets picked.
- 7:37They're not the last play, but what ended up being the last possession and gets the
- 7:39tipped ball for the pick in double coverage against Patrick Peterson, who is not the
- 7:45Patrick Peterson of his cardinal days, but he ain't no scrub.
- 7:48Right.
- 7:49Right.
- 7:50I don't know.
- 7:51I don't know what he's looking at.
- 7:52It's kind of what I was actually going to say this about Kenny Pickett too, is I feel
- 7:56like Jordan Love already pre snap already knows I'm going to this receiver or the plays
- 8:01dead to me.
- 8:02Like I don't know.
- 8:04I don't know.
- 8:05I just think he's just too slow on his reads, but I do think Christian Watson's also not
- 8:09helping him out by getting not getting separation.
- 8:11I mean, that's evident.
- 8:12Yeah, absolutely.
- 8:13Absolutely.
- 8:14And I would a hundred percent agree with you.
- 8:15He's he maybe finds his second read, but this game they they're he really wasn't pressured
- 8:21that much.
- 8:22He had he only got sacked one time and this is a vaunted vaunted Pittsburgh front seven.
- 8:27Yeah.
- 8:28You look at the that interception.
- 8:29He wasn't under pressure.
- 8:31He threw the ball where he shouldn't have thrown the ball.
- 8:33And now granted, they're going to just play the end zone in that situation.
- 8:36So you know, you're not going to get an easy throw in there.
- 8:38But I would much rather see Romeo Dobbs, Luke Musgrave, what must read.
- 8:43Had a good game.
- 8:44Yeah.
- 8:45Or Jane Reed have that ability to go up and get the ball because they've proven they can
- 8:47actually maybe freaking do it.
- 8:49I mean, yeah, and then you take a look at Aaron Jones, who really didn't do too much.
- 8:54I mean, I know you were excited.
- 8:55I was kind of excited just to see because I know Aaron Jones ability.
- 8:59So I was kind of excited to see what the offense could look like with the addition of having
- 9:04a healthy Aaron Jones back.
- 9:06And this week we didn't see any of that for sure.
- 9:08With his 13 carries and 35 yards.
- 9:10Yeah, absolutely not.
- 9:11Now, I will take part ownership in that because I am a new proud owner of an Aaron Jones jersey
- 9:17because living here in the Twin Cities, when you go to Shields to get a Packers jersey,
- 9:21you have an option of Christian Watson or Aaron Jones.
- 9:25And I'm taking Aaron Jones all day, so I might have cursed him.
- 9:28So I don't know if that jersey will be coming out of the closet anytime soon.
- 9:32But you're right, man.
- 9:3313 rushes for 35 yards, 2.7 yards per carry.
- 9:36That's not going to do it.
- 9:38So wait, you said who's who's your jersey?
- 9:42Aaron Jones.
- 9:43Aaron Jones.
- 9:44What's your other jersey then?
- 9:45I mean, you you own two jerseys, so who's your other jersey?
- 9:47I got a Rogers jersey.
- 9:48OK, OK, I was just curious.
- 9:50But I figured, you know, he's I might as well get a member of the team that well, that's
- 9:53not true.
- 9:54I actually own about four because I have a youth and a junior Reggie White jersey, my
- 9:57favorite player of all time.
- 9:58I'll never get rid of those.
- 10:00No, you can't.
- 10:01Killer.
- 10:02Killer.
- 10:03Yeah, but it's it's this Packers offense.
- 10:06I don't even know what I can put it on anymore.
- 10:08You know, I can't blame it all on Lefleur.
- 10:10I can't blame it all on love.
- 10:13I just don't know.
- 10:14We just can't get anything going.
- 10:16But enough of my beloved Packers.
- 10:18We also had your Minnesota Vikings hosting the New Orleans Saints this week.
- 10:25The Vikings were a two and a half point underdog in this game and ended up getting a pretty
- 10:31dominant victory, winning 27 to 19.
- 10:35How'd that game go for you, Smelty?
- 10:36Yeah, I mean, to be honest, it's weird to see the Saints at a two and a half point favorite,
- 10:40two and a half.
- 10:41Right.
- 10:42Yeah.
- 10:43It's not my favorite.
- 10:44It just means that nobody's trusting this whole Josh Dobbs experiment right now, which
- 10:48I would say we're getting pretty good positive results from the experiment, if you dare call
- 10:54it that.
- 10:55But yeah, I mean, it was a blowout most of the game.
- 10:57I think I remember it being probably 27 to three at one point before the Saints finally
- 11:01started getting some going.
- 11:03And they didn't really get anything going until Derek Carr left the game and Winston
- 11:07came in.
- 11:08Well, I mean, what do you think of Jameis?
- 11:11I mean, I think he still has it.
- 11:13Now, of course, he did the most Jameis thing ever.
- 11:15Two touchdowns, two picks.
- 11:17That is what we're used to seeing from Jameis.
- 11:21But he kind of showed what he's capable of.
- 11:23Derek Carr could be back the next time the Saints take the field.
- 11:27So do you think that was enough to show teams that he can still play?
- 11:33I don't know who.
- 11:34I don't know.
- 11:35Right.
- 11:36I don't know what team would take a chance on him who needs to take a chance on him.
- 11:38But like, do you think somebody does?
- 11:40I personally know.
- 11:41I mean, he's the same old Jameis, right?
- 11:44Two touchdowns, two picks.
- 11:45He's the only quarterback in NFL history to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 picks.
- 11:49He's not going to.
- 11:51He's good enough to play in this league as a backup, right?
- 11:54He's more than good enough.
- 11:55You know, I mean, I'm not going to say I would take Jameis Winston over Jordan Love even,
- 11:58right?
- 11:59I don't think there's a lot of teams in the league right now that would take him over
- 12:01their current starter.
- 12:03But he's good enough to be in the league coming as a backup.
- 12:06You know, he can make any throw on the field.
- 12:08He just makes the stupid decisions and that's what's going to hold him back from ever excelling.
- 12:13That's the thing.
- 12:14There was this throw to the back corner similar to Love to Dobbs.
- 12:18Winston threw this ball right up to Olave in the back corner.
- 12:22One of the better catches of the season.
- 12:24It's crazy he was able to hold on to that.
- 12:26But I mean, that throw was perfect.
- 12:27Right.
- 12:28It's one of the greatest catches of the season by far.
- 12:31But he put that ball in a position where it's Chris Olave coming down with it or nobody
- 12:34else.
- 12:35Right.
- 12:36Right.
- 12:37He's still making those throws but still capable of absolutely not making those throws and
- 12:42continuing to make those mistakes as well.
- 12:45But let's talk about the quarterback on the other side of the.
- 12:47Well, what you got on Jamis?
- 12:49Before we kick over to Mr. The Pastornaut here, the other thing with Jamis, that other
- 12:53touchdown to A.T. Perry.
- 12:55That's a ball you never make.
- 12:56You never throw on the NFL.
- 12:57He's on the left sideline and he throws that ball across the field over to him.
- 13:02And it was number seven.
- 13:03Byron Murphy for the Vikings just flat out lost the.
- 13:07Wow.
- 13:08The receiver six five.
- 13:09He's he's he's an absolute monster of.
- 13:10Well, I'm not going to say production wise, he's an absolute monster, but a monster of
- 13:13a human where that ball is getting is an incompletion at best.
- 13:18I would venture to say 85, 90 percent of the time with maybe 30 to 40 percent of that being
- 13:23a pick six.
- 13:24Right.
- 13:25Right.
- 13:26No, I mean, the play Terry made Terry, right?
- 13:29Perry.
- 13:30Perry.
- 13:31Perry.
- 13:32His first name starts with a T, I think.
- 13:33I don't know.
- 13:34A.T. A.T. Perry.
- 13:35There we go.
- 13:36There's a T in there somewhere.
- 13:37But I mean, that's low key.
- 13:40Not the I want to compare him to D.K.
- 13:43Obviously, D.K. is a much better player.
- 13:45But as far as size wise, like that's what we should be seeing from D.K. and we're really
- 13:49not right now.
- 13:50But again, not to change gears, but like that just proves that that's how you can use your
- 13:55body in the NFL if you have it properly.
- 13:57That's why we see these tight ends just eaten every week.
- 14:00Kelsey, Kittle, Andrews.
- 14:02Now TJ is actually starting to get it going now.
- 14:05Really got it going this game.
- 14:07134 yards, 11 receptions on a TD.
- 14:09You know, he can maybe be that safety blanket for Jameis or Derek Carr, whoever the heck's
- 14:15going to play quarterback for the Saints.
- 14:18At five and five, what else can the Saints do this season?
- 14:22What do you think they should do?
- 14:23I do have a friend that's somehow a Vikings fan and a Saints fan.
- 14:29That's ass backwards.
- 14:30I know.
- 14:31I know.
- 14:32I know.
- 14:33I know, especially with all the history and all that shit.
- 14:35So I don't really get it.
- 14:37But anyway, he was just straight up telling me the other day, he's like, dude, it's time
- 14:40to clean house.
- 14:41Everybody got it.
- 14:42It's time to rebuild the whole damn team.
- 14:44He's like freaking out.
- 14:45So like, I don't know, from your opinion, obviously you have no thing in the fight here.
- 14:50That's a wild stretch to me.
- 14:52I mean, the Saints have all the tools and foundational pieces where they're necessary.
- 14:56Right?
- 14:57I mean, they have loaded offensive talent.
- 14:59You know, Michael Thomas going down.
- 15:01That's the only thing about A.T. Perry with that play.
- 15:03That's probably Michael Thomas if he's in the game at that point.
- 15:05Right?
- 15:06Oh, probably.
- 15:07So A.T. Perry's a rookie.
- 15:08He came in and, you know, he had two catches for 38 yards in that tud.
- 15:12So he showed a little bit of what he could maybe do.
- 15:16But back to what the Saints could be, they're also in the luxury of being in one of the
- 15:20worst divisions in the NFL as a whole.
- 15:23So they have a very, very, very good chance and even like realistic chance to win their
- 15:28division and be a playoff team this year.
- 15:30They're a quarterback away from being a really, really, really good team.
- 15:33Derek Carr is not the answer.
- 15:35James Winston's not the answer.
- 15:38But in the same hand, like there's nobody out you can go and get right now that's going
- 15:41to get you that this year you might be able to grab a Bo Nicks, Chader Sanders in the
- 15:47second or third round of the draft this year.
- 15:49What about a free agent veteran next year?
- 15:52You would have to tell me who's available before I could even say that.
- 15:55Like the big name quarterbacks don't go hit the open market.
- 15:57I hate to say this and I don't know how much of a big name he really is.
- 16:01But like bringing up the pastor not right now.
- 16:05I think if you're quasi the GM of the Vikings, you have to think about.
- 16:09Dobbs is out here earning a chance to have a contract next year.
- 16:13Kirk Cousins contract is up.
- 16:15He could be available.
- 16:16And I do believe that he has at least two more solid years of potential playoff football
- 16:21left in him, whether or not he takes you to the big dance.
- 16:23I have no idea.
- 16:24I'd still love to see him here in Minnesota.
- 16:27But I think quasi has a big decision to make.
- 16:30I mean, if Dobbs keeps playing the way he way he is.
- 16:33No, you're absolutely right.
- 16:34I mean, that's the one of the before he got hurt before he had a season and an injury,
- 16:39he was playing the best football of his career.
- 16:42He had plenty of football left in him, assuming he can recover.
- 16:44But as we'll get to a little bit later, apparently a torn Achilles for a quarterbacks.
- 16:48No fucking issue.
- 16:49Yeah, allegedly.
- 16:50Yeah.
- 16:51But you know, that's true.
- 16:55I think we need to see more Dobbs consistency.
- 16:57Oh, 100 percent.
- 16:58No, I'm right there with you because right now I want Kirk Cousins as a Vikings fan.
- 17:01I want Kirk Cousins back next year as my quarterback straight up.
- 17:04But if Dobbs keeps doing what he's doing, it's nice to see the ability, the running
- 17:09ability.
- 17:10It's different.
- 17:11And I think Kevin O'Connell would absolutely I mean, you're already seeing it.
- 17:15The dude didn't even have any practice snaps last week.
- 17:19And he came in and O'Connell's telling him what to do through his helmet.
- 17:22Like this dude's going here, this dude's going here, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 17:26Like and he was able to do it and still make plays with his legs.
- 17:29I mean, even this week, eight carries and 44 yards with a tutty.
- 17:32Obviously a lot of that's just extending the play and then nothing there.
- 17:36Boom, I'm gone.
- 17:37He has a speed to do that.
- 17:38So that is another aspect of the game that Kirk Cousins doesn't bring you.
- 17:42But it's hard to argue what Kirk was doing prior to the injury.
- 17:46No, absolutely, man.
- 17:47Absolutely.
- 17:48It's crazy to me how Dobbs is on his ninth team in the NFL.
- 17:51Like that's that's mind boggling to me just because of, like you said, his escape ability,
- 17:55what he can bring after that.
- 17:56He doesn't make bad decisions.
- 17:59You know, he's not going to try to put the ball in a place where it's a little bit more
- 18:04questionable.
- 18:05Now, granted, you bring up that he didn't know the plays.
- 18:08He didn't even know where the Vikings locker room when he got to the stadium last week.
- 18:11He didn't know where he was going.
- 18:13Nor the names of his players, teammates.
- 18:15He had no idea the names.
- 18:16He was like at the end of the game last week, he said, like, I guess I'll start off by
- 18:21this next week learning all your guys names.
- 18:23That's crazy.
- 18:24It's insane.
- 18:25I mean, then that just goes to show like we joke that he's the past or not because he's
- 18:30a legitimate astronaut.
- 18:32It's like the guy has all of the brains to be his quarterback in the NFL.
- 18:37And you know, I think the Vikings would be in the best position to win with Kirk Cousins
- 18:40as your quarterback.
- 18:41Now, I say that off of only a handful of experience seeing Dobbs on the Vikings.
- 18:46And the other thing is he's doing it without the top two, three receiver in the NFL at
- 18:50his disposal as well.
- 18:52So no doubt.
- 18:53What's he going to do when JJ comes back?
- 18:54And like, I don't want to keep going on the Vikings too long here.
- 18:57But like one last thing, really, like and again, like I want Kirk back.
- 19:02I'm a big Kirk guy.
- 19:03But sometimes in the NFL, as we've seen it before, sometimes that quarterback just needs
- 19:08that coach.
- 19:09You know, you see a coach and quarterback combinations that work all over the league
- 19:14that work for a long time.
- 19:17Maybe that's maybe that's what Dobbs needed.
- 19:19It's like if you look at it in that sense, now that becomes harder.
- 19:22Although I think Kirk Cousins and O'Connell mesh really well together as well.
- 19:27Kirk's one of the best play action quarterbacks in the league.
- 19:30So I don't know.
- 19:32Yeah, absolutely.
- 19:33And to go back kind of how this started, I think Kirk Cousins on the Saints would make
- 19:38them a legitimate contender in the NFC.
- 19:42Yeah, Kirk Cousins to a Lave.
- 19:44If Michael Thomas can come back and then now this A.T. Perry.
- 19:48Shahid.
- 19:49Yeah, Shahid.
- 19:50Yeah, yeah.
- 19:51And then, you know, if Alvin Kamara can be a shred of himself like you.
- 19:54They have the defense.
- 19:55Oh, yeah.
- 19:56Top five defense in the NFL.
- 19:57Yeah.
- 19:58Consistently, let alone playing in the Superdome.
- 20:00I couldn't imagine that that atmosphere.
- 20:02I'd love to go to a game.
- 20:03I'm not wearing any Viking shit there, but I'd love to go to a game there just to experience
- 20:09their who that nation, all that stuff like they party, man, like that's to go in there
- 20:14as an opposing team.
- 20:15Like, I think that's one of the best home field advantages you could have.
- 20:18100 percent agree.
- 20:19100 percent agree.
- 20:20I would love to see a game there, too.
- 20:22That's on my bucket list.
- 20:24That's on my bucket list.
- 20:26The first of the three games here is going to be the game of the week that we had, which
- 20:29turned out being the game of the week.
- 20:32Cleveland Browns traveling down to the Baltimore Ravens.
- 20:36What a game it was, Smelty.
- 20:37Cleveland Browns ended up winning this one 33 to 31.
- 20:41So the Browns were actually the underdog in this game by six whole points.
- 20:47They won the money on.
- 20:48Straight up, they won that game.
- 20:50I was surprised it was that six, to be honest with you.
- 20:53I mean, yes, how the Ravens have been playing, you know, has been super great, but it's still
- 20:58a division game, you know, and I don't know, it just kind of surprised me.
- 21:03But the outcome of the game didn't really surprise me at all.
- 21:05I mean, I did pick the Ravens to win this game, but what a game.
- 21:10I mean, it was it was the first series for me that really told me what kind of game that
- 21:16was going to be.
- 21:17I mean, the first drive of the game, Kyle Hamilton jumps the absolute hell out of a
- 21:22route, takes Watson to the house for a pick six to start the game.
- 21:25I'm like, OK, I think we better buckle up because it could go either way.
- 21:29And it and it did.
- 21:30Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:31I, Deshaun Watson is my quarterback in one of my leagues.
- 21:34So, you know, you check that you checked that fantasy score, you know, after about that
- 21:38first second possession, see what happened.
- 21:41And he was negative, did not enjoy seeing that.
- 21:44But what a play by Hamilton.
- 21:45This cat's going to be an absolute stun the NFL.
- 21:48He's already turning into one of the best safeties in the league.
- 21:51And like it was just what a game, man.
- 21:53Cleveland just rare.
- 21:54Baltimore came out 17-3 at the end of the first quarter.
- 21:58Yeah, Baltimore came out fire.
- 21:59And I thought for sure they were going to run away with it the way it was looking.
- 22:03But again, 17-3, obviously not insurmountable.
- 22:07And like I said, just the way the game started and everything, like you just kind of knew
- 22:11it had the potential to become the game that it was.
- 22:14And then, yeah, and then Browns come out in the second half and just start lighting it
- 22:18up.
- 22:19Deshaun Watson actually started looking pretty decent, actually started using his legs, starting
- 22:24to look like Houston, like O.G. Houston, Deshaun Watson.
- 22:30He did.
- 22:31He did.
- 22:32I was waiting for this moment to come.
- 22:33He's going to kind of come back to life and just be that O.G. Deshaun Watson, kind of
- 22:36see why he got that contract.
- 22:38And he proved that in the second half of this game.
- 22:40Amari Cooper is looking great.
- 22:43He's back to his raider form.
- 22:46And Najoku, another six catches right now this week.
- 22:49I mean, these cats are starting to get open for him.
- 22:52They are.
- 22:53They are.
- 22:54And he's putting the ball in the right spot.
- 22:55He's putting the ball in the right spot.
- 22:56It also helps when you got Jerome Ford back there that went off for another crazy game
- 22:59this week.
- 23:00And man, he's a little bit of explosive.
- 23:03I'm a big Jerome Ford guy.
- 23:05I mean, 17 carries for 107 yards, averaging 6.3 and as long as carries, 28.
- 23:12It's not like you win for a 75 yarder that got him the bulk of those.
- 23:15He was just consistent through this whole game.
- 23:17Grinding and pounding, 6.3 average.
- 23:19Yeah, again, the long 28, that's going to skew that average a little bit.
- 23:23But like, I would think he probably still averaged over five yards a carry.
- 23:27Oh, for sure.
- 23:29For sure.
- 23:30You know, it's it's I was quite impressed with this Browns.
- 23:32You know, they have the defense.
- 23:33We all know they have the defense.
- 23:35Personally, I thought the Ravens were the second best team in the NFL going into this
- 23:38week behind only the Eagles.
- 23:40They showed why they're up there.
- 23:43But Lamar Jackson's with two interceptions is going to hurt you.
- 23:46It's going to hurt you.
- 23:47And the one pick that really bugs me is right before half.
- 23:50And it turns out it didn't end up leading to points.
- 23:53But this one really bugged me.
- 23:54So Lamar right before half Lamar runs out and actually replays show.
- 23:59I believe that Lamar was actually stepping on out of bounds line when Mike Ford comes
- 24:03over and trucks him into the into the bench, which was crazy.
- 24:06No flag thrown, I don't think even, which I'm cool with that.
- 24:10You know, if you're a quarterback, you leave the pocket like my wife says, actually, she's
- 24:14like, oh, you deserve to get hit.
- 24:15Blah, blah, blah.
- 24:16You know, like, yeah, you're trying to make you're trying to gain yards.
- 24:20You're going to get hit.
- 24:21So right after that, Lamar comes out here.
- 24:24There's like 50 seconds left in the half.
- 24:26Whatever he bombs one downfield just to get picked by Mike Ford.
- 24:30And it was it wasn't a good throw.
- 24:32Like, so why?
- 24:34Now again, they gave Cleveland, you know, good field position.
- 24:38Cleveland proceeded to do nothing with it.
- 24:40So, you know, they didn't get points off it.
- 24:42But again, like, why?
- 24:43Why?
- 24:44Why?
- 24:45I mean, you're trying to put points on the board yourself, but like that was just a bad
- 24:48throw, man.
- 24:49That's a bad decision.
- 24:50I 100 percent agree with you.
- 24:52I don't get that.
- 24:53And that's not a decision Lamar's made at all this year.
- 24:56He has looked great at quarterback.
- 24:58He really has.
- 24:59He looked really like not loose this game.
- 25:02I guess.
- 25:03I really like I guess the opposite of not loose would be tight.
- 25:06So I could just say that.
- 25:07But he just looked like he just wasn't himself this game.
- 25:10He really didn't.
- 25:11I mean, he's still got a couple of yards on the ground, but that's going to be what you
- 25:15expect out of him all the time.
- 25:16Yeah, I mean, he was their leading rusher for eight carries for 41 yards.
- 25:20But you know, five point one average sounds good.
- 25:22But for a quarterback, that's that's, you know, when you have the scrambling ability
- 25:26and you're consistently picking up eight to 15 yards on a scramble, that's not Lamar Jackson
- 25:30type of numbers.
- 25:32No, no, no, I agree with you.
- 25:34I think I think Baltimore needs to run this kid, Keaton Mitchell a little more.
- 25:37He only had one big play, right?
- 25:40Thirty nine yards, three carries for 34.
- 25:42So obviously his other two rushes were for negative yardage.
- 25:45But on three carries, you can't really get into rhythm anyway.
- 25:49Gus Edwards has proven again this week that he's really not it, but he's your goal line
- 25:53back.
- 25:54I don't know about that.
- 25:55He's kind of more like a powerback to me.
- 25:56After what he's had the last three weeks he's had before this week though.
- 26:00I don't know.
- 26:01I think you need somebody back there.
- 26:02It's a little more shifty or even get Zay Flowers involved in some sort of jet or something.
- 26:07Yeah, I do like the idea of, you know, having that that that lightning thunder with Mitchell
- 26:11because Mitchell's touchdown that that 39 yard run that was explosive.
- 26:17He went zero to 60 real quick.
- 26:19But I want to talk about Zay Flowers just real quick.
- 26:21I mean, that that dude is shifty and he's got some of the fastest feet I think I've
- 26:25seen in the NFL.
- 26:27I mean, his routes are ridiculous and it's from those fast feet like he can make guys
- 26:32miss.
- 26:33I mean, even before the ball is thrown, his route running ability is insane.
- 26:37Yeah, he's a quick little bugger.
- 26:38I was hoping he would make it to the Packers in the first round this year and we would
- 26:41have drafted him.
- 26:42Oh, well, didn't work out.
- 26:44Didn't work out, man.
- 26:45Didn't work out.
- 26:46But I'd like to see OBJ getting a touchdown as well.
- 26:48You know, I've always kind of been an OBJ guy.
- 26:51After he caught the ball, he took off.
- 26:52He turned it on real quick.
- 26:54I was like, whoa, I actually that's another thing.
- 26:56I have in my notes.
- 26:57I said, Odell showed some speed in the third quarter on that touchdown.
- 27:01After he caught it, he took off.
- 27:02Yeah, he looked he looked like the OG original, you know, giant Odell.
- 27:06And I think they need to incorporate him into the game plan more.
- 27:09I really do.
- 27:10You just got to give him a chance at this point.
- 27:11Yeah.
- 27:12Oh, no, for sure.
- 27:13For sure.
- 27:14I think he's still got the ability.
- 27:15No doubt.
- 27:16Yeah, most certainly.
- 27:17Well, that's enough about the game of the week.
- 27:19Just for so the record shows, I did pick the Browns to I didn't expect the Browns to win
- 27:25this game.
- 27:26I didn't expect him to cover.
- 27:27You know, I thought it would be a one two point game, but the Browns ended up winning
- 27:31it there.
- 27:32Smelty did indeed have the Ravens.
- 27:33So we're going to move on.
- 27:35We had the Lions Chargers.
- 27:37Another hell of a game we had this year, Smelty.
- 27:40I'm sorry, not this year, this week, this week.
- 27:42Yeah.
- 27:43I mean, you could say this year so far even.
- 27:45I mean, what a game back and forth the whole game, really.
- 27:49The Chargers came out flat, for sure flat in that first half.
- 27:53And then and then they kind of started getting it together.
- 27:55Saw Herbert started getting in a rhythm in the second half.
- 27:58But Jared Goff kind of really starting to look the part.
- 28:01I mean, he's starting to look like that when the Rams went on a run with Jared Goff, he
- 28:05started to look like that Jared Goff.
- 28:07And he's kind of already looked like it since he's gotten there.
- 28:09It's like it was a new fresh.
- 28:12I mean, fresh air, new, new, new everything.
- 28:15Yeah, most certainly.
- 28:17Jared Goff has looked really good this year.
- 28:19And to me, what it is with this Lions offense right now with David Montgomery coming back
- 28:24and having that 75 yard bomb run, you could make a very, very strong argument.
- 28:30The Lions have the best one two backs in the NFL.
- 28:32That's hilarious.
- 28:33That's the number one note I have on this game.
- 28:36David Montgomery and Gibbs are the best running back to own the league right now today.
- 28:40I 100 percent agree with that.
- 28:41Yeah, I mean, no argument for me.
- 28:43Gibbs is going to be that that cat is so fast.
- 28:47He's gotten so much better as the seasons progress to every week.
- 28:51He's getting better.
- 28:52To be honest with you, I don't know if he's necessarily getting better or if they're just
- 28:56finally giving him the damn ball.
- 28:57Probably a little both.
- 28:59Yeah, he showed the flashes in the first couple of games.
- 29:01They just wanted to work him in a little bit.
- 29:03Kind of that B. John Robinson effect per se.
- 29:06But the story of this game, player of this game.
- 29:08Well, player of the Lions, you could say Amron St. Brown.
- 29:11I think most games are like you look at quarterback versus quarterback matchup.
- 29:16This was a receiver versus receiver matchup to me.
- 29:19Like Amon Ra versus Keenan Allen.
- 29:22What a showing.
- 29:23What a showing.
- 29:24Oh, what a showing it was.
- 29:25I mean, you have 156 yards for St. Brown and 175 for Keenan Allen.
- 29:31That's just crazy.
- 29:32Just crazy numbers.
- 29:33But this is an entertaining game through and through.
- 29:36The Lions came out hot, 10-3 lead after the first.
- 29:39And then, you know, going into half, they had that seven point lead.
- 29:43But what a fourth quarter it was.
- 29:44Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 29:46I mean, and going into that fourth quarter, you can just tell.
- 29:49I mean, you can tell the whole season already.
- 29:51But you can just tell.
- 29:52And I think Tony Romo said this actually during the game.
- 29:54I think he was one of the commentators for it.
- 29:57He said that win against Kansas City changed everything.
- 30:01And I kind of think I kind of buy into that.
- 30:03That plus Dan Campbell's grit mantra.
- 30:06Dude, I think that whole team is just buying into that shit super hard.
- 30:11And it's really showing on the field.
- 30:13I mean, every chance you get, those Lions are fighting for everything, both sides of
- 30:17the ball.
- 30:18No, absolutely.
- 30:19Absolutely.
- 30:20And obviously, Dan Campbell sets the precedent for that.
- 30:23But his coaching staff buying into that as well.
- 30:25You never hear about any rifts within the Lions organization.
- 30:28No.
- 30:29Like that entire franchise from ownership down to the, you know, ball boys are fully
- 30:34bought into the Dan Campbell mantra.
- 30:37And you don't see that nowadays.
- 30:40You know, he's an old school, great, hardcore coach.
- 30:43And you know, you just don't see that.
- 30:45You have the Kyle Shanahan, the Sean McVeighs, these new age, shifty play callers.
- 30:49More players coaches.
- 30:50I'm not saying that Dan Campbell's not.
- 30:51He's very connected with his players, very emotional for his players.
- 30:55But I write more of that old school vibe.
- 30:57Yeah.
- 30:58I mean, I would I would say that Dan Campbell might be the biggest player coach in the NFL
- 31:01with how he runs.
- 31:02I mean, Mike Tomlin is it's hard to relinquish that that crown per se.
- 31:07You know, everybody that's ever played for him talks about how great of a coach he was
- 31:10and then you take care about anybody that always wanted to play for him.
- 31:14So but back to the game here.
- 31:16You know, this game gave me like reminiscence of that that Casey L.A. game back on Sunday
- 31:22Night Football number years back when it was golf going against Mahomes down to the wire.
- 31:25Oh, yeah.
- 31:26The possession was going in it and it brought back memories of that.
- 31:29Rams won that game, didn't they?
- 31:30I got I can't remember.
- 31:32I feel like they did.
- 31:33But yeah, I do remember that game.
- 31:34That was crazy.
- 31:35But that like you were saying before, that fourth quarter nuts.
- 31:39Derred Goff showed the touch that he has on that ball in his fourth quarter touch on like
- 31:43what seven minutes left or whatever it was.
- 31:45But just the touch on that ball right over the defender, only the receivers catching
- 31:50it easy touchdown.
- 31:51I mean, he made it look easy and he's been doing it all year and then flip the field
- 31:57and Keenan Allen gets a Taddy on fourth and one.
- 31:59I mean, this game, they just kept exchanging blows.
- 32:02Yeah, it was a fun game to watch.
- 32:04That's for sure.
- 32:05That's for sure.
- 32:06You could have made an argument this ended up being the game of the week, but you can't
- 32:08go wrong with this with Browns Ravens.
- 32:12Let's move on with the last game here.
- 32:13We're going to recap.
- 32:14We had the San Francisco 49ers going down the dooo, booooo, taking on the Jacksonville
- 32:21Jaguars.
- 32:2249ers were.
- 32:23Don't look at me like that, son.
- 32:2649ers were.
- 32:27The you could probably hear my stare through the mic there.
- 32:32Oh my God.
- 32:3449ers were indeed a three and a half point favorite in going into this game.
- 32:39The Jaguars didn't even score three and a half points.
- 32:45Who picked the Jaguars last week?
- 32:47I can't remember.
- 32:49Pretty sure that was a Mr. Smelty.
- 32:50Now, I'm assuming he picked them to not necessarily win the game, but just cover.
- 32:54But it didn't matter.
- 32:55This game is over after the first quarter.
- 32:57Yeah, no, no doubt.
- 32:59I mean, the story of the game for me, I mean, is the pressure that San Francisco defense
- 33:05brought.
- 33:06I mean, you're you already saw I think it was on the third sack of the game.
- 33:10I think there's a total of five by that San Francisco defense.
- 33:13But I think on the third sack of the game, Chase Young and Nick Bosa met at the quarterback
- 33:17and I was like, damn it, that looks nice.
- 33:21I was like, that's going to be a problem.
- 33:23Come play off time.
- 33:24That's fucking scary.
- 33:25And then you got on the other side of the ball, Brock Purdy looking actually decent
- 33:29again.
- 33:30Good bounce back game for him.
- 33:31Like, damn, maybe San Francisco could become another slump.
- 33:35Yeah, man, is the story of the game.
- 33:37I mean, jokingly, Christian McCaffrey didn't score, snapped the touchdown streak at I believe
- 33:42it was 17.
- 33:43If he would have gotten one this game, he would have broke it.
- 33:45He tied the record and unused checks touchdown.
- 33:48Everybody's like, oh, he should have went down on the one or whatever.
- 33:51But he like got tackled in.
- 33:52Like, you could kind of tell he tried to stop running, maybe to go down to try to get McCaffrey
- 33:56that.
- 33:57But who's to say, right?
- 33:58To be honest with you, you got to credit the Niners.
- 34:00They had their entire backups in.
- 34:02I was one of the last possessions of the game.
- 34:04They had the ball in the within the 10 yard line and it was four touches to McCaffrey.
- 34:09You don't really see like coaches trying to help out their players in that regard.
- 34:13So it was cool to see that, you know, everybody in the in the world, let alone the defense,
- 34:17knew the ball was going to McCaffrey.
- 34:19You have literally all of your backups in playing against the Jacksonville starters.
- 34:23Right?
- 34:24No, I mean, the thing about McCaffrey that I noticed this game that I that I think everybody
- 34:31is probably already noticed, obviously, but when he cuts, it's so smooth.
- 34:37Like seamless.
- 34:38It is.
- 34:39It is.
- 34:40It's like that's why like I could write a smooth dude.
- 34:42It's so hard to explain.
- 34:43But like seamless is a really good word for it.
- 34:46There's no choppiness to it at all.
- 34:48Like all of a sudden he's cut and he's gone.
- 34:50Like, whoa, he's just so smooth.
- 34:53So I don't know.
- 34:54I just had to say that.
- 34:55Like it was just slick to watch.
- 34:57And I mean, I say that jokingly because he had 16 carries for 95 yards and average just
- 35:01under six yards a carry.
- 35:02The guy's still incredible.
- 35:04No, he's ridiculous.
- 35:06And then again, it always helps when you got guys like Brandon Iuke and then you got George
- 35:10Kittle, who continues to prove to me that he's the second best tight end in the league.
- 35:15Yeah.
- 35:16I mean, 49ers look the part, look the part.
- 35:20But if you're looking at do you have anything else to add on 49ers?
- 35:23The only thing I could say is it was good to see kind of Deebo come back into his form.
- 35:27He had three rushes for 29 yards in the touchdown and then four catches for 30 yards.
- 35:32So just about 80 yards total yards there on only six touches.
- 35:37Getting them back involved.
- 35:38That's really nice to see.
- 35:39Coming off the injury, just get him worked back into the system.
- 35:41I think next week or going forward, he's going to be an integral part of this offense as
- 35:45he should be.
- 35:46But I just don't see any weakness on this 49ers team right now.
- 35:49That's what I'm saying.
- 35:51During that game yesterday, I was just like, wow, how do you beat these guys?
- 35:55Truly.
- 35:56I mean, that defense scares the shit out of me.
- 35:58I don't know how you can really score on it.
- 36:02And they just proved it against the Jaguars, who are okay.
- 36:05I don't think they're starting to prove that they might not be a playoff team this season,
- 36:10but because of their inconsistencies and I don't know.
- 36:13But I think the 49ers are for real.
- 36:16I would agree with you.
- 36:17The crazy thing is, is Brock Purdy through for more yards than the Jaguars had total
- 36:22offense.
- 36:23That doesn't surprise me.
- 36:24I mean, the Jaguars offense, again, San Francisco's defense played wild, but Jaguars offense didn't
- 36:31do anything to the point where after the game, Doug Peterson, Peterson, sorry, is, quote,
- 36:37this was definitely a humbling experience.
- 36:39No shit.
- 36:41No shit.
- 36:42And the Jaguars, the thing about the Jags is they have a real tough stretch coming up.
- 36:46They have to go through that AFC North gauntlet, dude.
- 36:49They play the Bengals, Cleveland and Baltimore in that order.
- 36:52And that starts at like not next week or the week after, but three weeks away.
- 36:57They have to play those three teams in a row.
- 36:59So if they want to be a playoff team this year, those are the games you're going to
- 37:02have to win and prove to yourself that you're capable of going to the playoffs this year.
- 37:06I think you have to win two of those three games to make a legitimate chance at the playoffs.
- 37:10And I say that just because Colts look good this week.
- 37:13Now granted, they played the Patriots.
- 37:14I think my old high school football team could beat the Patriots right now.
- 37:17Yeah, they're looking rough.
- 37:19It's just tough.
- 37:20It's I love seeing it because I hate the Patriots.
- 37:23But and then you look at the Houston Texans, what CJ Stroud is doing down there.
- 37:27So it's the AFC South isn't a scrub division anymore.
- 37:30And people are talking potential Stroud for MVP all of a sudden.
- 37:34I think he should be in the conversation.
- 37:36Now he's not in the front runner by any way, shape or form.
- 37:40But he's not doing the wrong things.
- 37:42For sure.
- 37:43He needs to be in the conversation.
- 37:44I mean, you only saw for 500 yards, almost 500 yards and four tuds.
- 37:49One touch rushing on top of that.
- 37:51So you have five tuds total.
- 37:52Bryce Young who CJ Stroud.
- 37:56It's just crazy what that man's doing right now.
- 37:59It's just crazy what that man's doing.
- 38:00But let's move on.
- 38:04Let's get into 10 talks Melty.
- 38:05We're going to start off with some very, very unfortunate news coming out of the Dallas
- 38:10camp with Leighton Vander Esch going down in week eight against the 49ers.
- 38:16He got kind of pushed from behind into Micah Parsons leg and jammed his neck.
- 38:21He was on the IR.
- 38:22He was actually was eligible to return next week, but he's out for the season and the
- 38:29reports are showing that he might his career might be done.
- 38:33That is very, very, very unfortunate.
- 38:35You hate to hear those kind of news.
- 38:37There's all the reports out there that he's contemplating retirement at this point.
- 38:42It's just it sucks to see because he you know, he had a really good rookie year.
- 38:45He kind of fell off a little bit next couple of years, but he was he was back to form this
- 38:49year, man.
- 38:50Oh, he was for sure.
- 38:52Yeah, no, he was for sure.
- 38:53And the thing is, is like, this isn't necessarily a new issue.
- 38:57And that's why I think, you know, the possibility of a career ender is on the table.
- 39:03He's been dealing with this since his Boise State days, I guess.
- 39:06He had a surgery in what was it, 2020 or something to repair the similar deal.
- 39:11I can't imagine the decision he has to make.
- 39:15You know, is it a possibility?
- 39:17Do we know?
- 39:18Is it a possibility?
- 39:19Like, if he makes it worse, could he be paralyzed type of deal?
- 39:22I don't know.
- 39:23It's called spinal stenosis.
- 39:25I don't know shit about that.
- 39:29But I know it's not great, right.
- 39:33But if it's like a case of like, you could become paralyzed, right?
- 39:37How do you make that decision?
- 39:39You know, this is the game you love.
- 39:41You're doing it at the highest level you can do it in the world.
- 39:44You're making a lot of freaking money setting up the rest of your life.
- 39:50But when is it about your personal health?
- 39:52You know what I mean?
- 39:53So just doing a quick Google research here, it says that the spinal stenosis, it's not
- 39:58that you could become paralyzed.
- 40:00It's just that you have numbness and severe pain at times.
- 40:04There's like treatment options out there.
- 40:05But I mean, when you're talking to high caliber football player athlete, you can't have a
- 40:10numb leg at times, you know, so it's.
- 40:12So when is it worth it to push through that?
- 40:14You know what I mean?
- 40:15At that point, like, when is it worth it?
- 40:18Because you saw you see, you know, so he plays linebacker.
- 40:21You see Patrick Willis retired at age 30.
- 40:24You know, he had a couple of injuries, but he retired.
- 40:25I think his were concussions.
- 40:27Maybe I can't remember linebacker.
- 40:29Luke Keakley retired at 28.
- 40:32You know, you're starting to see guys, you know, protect their personal health.
- 40:36And I think that's absolutely in consideration for Vander Esch right now.
- 40:41And I mean, I mean, not only a big loss to the Cowboys, but a big loss to the NFL.
- 40:46Good player, fun to watch.
- 40:47Yeah, most certainly, most certainly.
- 40:49And the thing I love most about Leighton Vander Esch is he has that old school neck pad, man.
- 40:54Dude, I know that's his like, that's the key thing, right?
- 40:57Like if you see a Cowboys jersey right now on the field and you see a neck pad, you know
- 41:01it's Vander Esch.
- 41:02Obviously, we haven't seen it in a long time and it's weird.
- 41:05But yeah, no, I love I love the neck pad.
- 41:08I love seeing that, bro.
- 41:09But yeah, it sucks for somebody with so much upside.
- 41:12He's still young at 27.
- 41:13But you know, football takes a toll on you.
- 41:15But that's just it.
- 41:16Twenty seven.
- 41:17He's got the rest of his life in front of him.
- 41:19If he's been smart with his money, the money parts fine.
- 41:23It's a matter of passion.
- 41:24You obviously have a passion for the game.
- 41:26Some guys don't and then they just end up getting playing the game and whatever.
- 41:30But it's rare.
- 41:31Usually these guys have a passion.
- 41:32That's what's driven them to this point to play in the NFL.
- 41:36So I can't imagine.
- 41:38I just can't imagine the decisions he's got to make here going forward.
- 41:41Yeah, it's very, very unfortunate.
- 41:43Very, very unfortunate.
- 41:44And you know, he's an NFL player.
- 41:46He's made plenty of money in his life, depending on what he did with it.
- 41:49He's a bright kid.
- 41:50So I think he could he could go into something that he would be him and his family would
- 41:53be well taken care of.
- 41:54But you just hate to see it.
- 41:55Let's move on.
- 41:57Next we had Taylor Heinecke injuring his hamstring.
- 42:01This is an interesting one, Smeltzi.
- 42:03Desmond Ritter came in and looked pretty good.
- 42:06Artie Smith has come out and said they're going to reevaluate after the bye this week.
- 42:09Heinecke should be good to go, but it's going to be dependent on who he wants at the starting
- 42:12quarterback.
- 42:13Yeah.
- 42:14I mean, who would you take out of the two real quick based on play that you've seen?
- 42:18I think I would take Taylor Heinecke at this point simply because the Falcons are in the
- 42:22worst one of the worst divisions in football.
- 42:24So they have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs still.
- 42:26And I think Taylor Heinecke gives you a better chance to win.
- 42:29Desmond Ritter shows flashes, but the consistency is just not his thing.
- 42:33Yep.
- 42:34No, totally agree.
- 42:35But saying that, it would have to be a totally healthy Taylor Heinecke.
- 42:37Right.
- 42:38No, for sure.
- 42:39100 percent that hamstring is ready to go.
- 42:41Otherwise, absolutely not.
- 42:42Nope.
- 42:43I agree.
- 42:44Next, we had one of your Vikings going down with a concussion.
- 42:46Alexander Madison.
- 42:47Tell me more.
- 42:48Yeah, Madison.
- 42:49It's unfortunate for him personally.
- 42:52He just hasn't been able to get it going this year.
- 42:54We were hoping for that one, two punch with acres coming in, but then acres goes down
- 42:57with an Achilles.
- 42:58Now, Madison's down with a concussion.
- 43:01He's questionable.
- 43:02Probably not going to play this week if I had to guess.
- 43:04So you're probably going to see a little bit more of Ty Chandler for the Vikings, which
- 43:08is going to give you way more speed than what Madison gives you.
- 43:11Ty Chandler is very shifty and you saw flashes of it when Madison went down this week.
- 43:15You still got Kanae Nguyen Wu, who is also very shifty as well.
- 43:20So I don't think it'll be a huge deal for the Vikings offense, but it's not good for
- 43:25Madison.
- 43:26No, I agree with you.
- 43:27I actually really, really liked what I saw out of Ty Chandler.
- 43:30I actually, the two games I watched the most of were the Vikings game and the Packers game
- 43:34this week I was over at my newly married brother-in-law's and we had a set up two garage TVs.
- 43:40We had the Vikings on one, Packers on the other.
- 43:43So I actually was able to see the majority of both, or pretty much all of both games.
- 43:47And I really like what Chandler brought to the offense.
- 43:50I think pairing him with Josh Dobbs, you have two electric players in the backfield.
- 43:53I think Ty Chandler can do some things for you, man.
- 43:56And I think he's, this is either his second or third year in the league and he's just
- 43:59been buried on a depth chart is all that is, straight up.
- 44:02Like he's been behind Kanae as well and then Kanae's been injured.
- 44:05So you know, Ty Chandler's probably going to get his opportunity and I don't think he's
- 44:09going to let it pass.
- 44:10I would agree with you.
- 44:11Well, the New Orleans Saints smelt see, they hit the injury bug this week.
- 44:16They lost Derek Carr, Marshawn Lattimore and Michael Thomas.
- 44:21Derek Carr going down with a right shoulder injury.
- 44:24He hopes to return after the bye week this week.
- 44:26The Saints bye week could not have come at a better time.
- 44:29No kidding.
- 44:31This brings up the discussion of Derek Carr.
- 44:34Signed the big contract with the Saints in the off season.
- 44:35Jamis came in, he looked, we already spoke on it.
- 44:37We don't need to go too much more in depth, but Derek Carr hasn't been in the Saints, man.
- 44:42No.
- 44:43And I mean, who else was out there for the Saints even sign?
- 44:46I don't know if they would have signed anybody else.
- 44:49You're looking at Derek Carr and Jimmy G. Those are the two high profile free Asian
- 44:51quarterbacks this last year.
- 44:53I'm taking Derek Carr over Jimmy D all day.
- 44:54I am too.
- 44:56And then also neither one of them has performed anyway.
- 44:58So yeah, I'm curious again what the Saints may do at quarterback this off season.
- 45:03But yeah, I mean, we'll just see, you know, after the bye week, if Derek Carr is ready
- 45:07to go, obviously you're still choosing Derek Carr over Jamis Winston.
- 45:11Lattimore with the high ankle sprain.
- 45:13That's a little tougher.
- 45:14That's a little more touchy.
- 45:16High ankle sprains are a little more unpredictable on a timetable.
- 45:19He could be back in the two weeks after bye week, but he could be done for like four.
- 45:24I mean, it's high ankle sprains, real deal.
- 45:26I mean, that's tough to play on, especially at a skill position.
- 45:29No, most certainly.
- 45:30I think out of all the injuries here, like the quarterback is obviously the most important,
- 45:35but Marshawn Lattimore is a centerpiece of that defense.
- 45:37He's a top 10 cornerback in the NFL a lot would say, and he's an integral part of that
- 45:43defense.
- 45:44So in the same regard, he's not a young corner anymore.
- 45:47He's not old by any means, but I think the bye week again coming at a best time.
- 45:52But if there's a chance of him not at his full length and the possibility of injuring
- 45:55that more, you sit him for one, two, three weeks, whatever it takes to make sure he's
- 45:58healthy come crunch time when the Saints, even if they lose the next three games, are
- 46:02still going to be in contention in that division.
- 46:04Well, right.
- 46:05That's just it.
- 46:06So you got to make sure he's a hundred percent.
- 46:07I agree.
- 46:08The last injury we're going to talk about here that happened this week is Michael Thomas
- 46:13going down with a knee injury for those Saints there.
- 46:16He's hopefully going to be back after the bye week this week.
- 46:19Personally, he hasn't really done much this year.
- 46:22So I like to see what A.T. Perry has after seeing what he had kind of glimpses of last
- 46:25week.
- 46:26He hasn't done much in the last couple of seasons.
- 46:28That's true.
- 46:29I mean, that's what I mean.
- 46:30Like, I'm kind of checked out on Michael Thomas, to be honest with you.
- 46:33Like he's a guy that could use a change of scenery.
- 46:36And it's not that the Saints aren't a bad fit.
- 46:38It's just, dude, you need some fresh air.
- 46:40You need to get out of there a little bit, I think.
- 46:43But I don't know.
- 46:44Well, I think he needs a little bit more than just a change of scenery at this point.
- 46:47But we'll get into that later.
- 46:48Yeah.
- 46:49Yeah.
- 46:50The last thing we're going to talk about here from the injuries is the phenomenon of Aaron
- 46:54Rodgers.
- 46:55This motherfucker is targeting a mid December return from a torn Achilles that happened
- 47:02ten weeks ago.
- 47:03Do you think he's just trying to like play the media or play Joe Schmo's like us to be
- 47:09like, whoa, let's talk about this because this is crazy?
- 47:11Or do you think he's being freaking serious that he thinks like this darkness retreat
- 47:16gave him magical powers and he is ready to go to play on that repair to Achilles?
- 47:21To be honest with you, if I hadn't seen what he's done, like the pregame clips and all
- 47:28of that, the guys walking without crutches, he's taking small drop backs and completing
- 47:32and making drop backs already.
- 47:34So not this week.
- 47:35He didn't do anything in the pregame this week.
- 47:36He said he just his rehab didn't go quite as planned.
- 47:39So he was just resting it.
- 47:40Last week he did like a one, two step drop back and now it wasn't a hard drop back.
- 47:44No, but like you're making football, quote unquote moves.
- 47:48It wasn't a stationary throw.
- 47:49Yeah.
- 47:50So the other thing in his favor is he does play the quarterback position.
- 47:53There's not as much strain on that Achilles as say a running back receiver DB.
- 47:57And you've seen over the years how these quarterbacks take care of their bodies.
- 48:01Tom Brady, Russell Wilson.
- 48:03You saw it on the quarterback show on Netflix with Kirk Cousins.
- 48:06These quarterbacks take care of their bodies.
- 48:08They spend a lot of money to take care of their bodies because they know they're going
- 48:11to get drilled.
- 48:13So they do take care of their bodies.
- 48:15So we who knows?
- 48:17Maybe Rogers is back.
- 48:19And that's the thing with Rogers is that that man treats his body like a temple.
- 48:22Now, yeah, you have like the ayahuasca or whatever.
- 48:24But at the end of the day, that's medicine to a certain degree.
- 48:28It's not like he's out, you know, eating 14 Big Macs and that kind of shit.
- 48:32He takes care of his body.
- 48:33Or my favorite picture of Aaron Rodgers of all time.
- 48:36I think they just lost in the playoffs, like season over, you know, he's in the back of
- 48:39a pickup truck in the bed of a pickup truck or whatever, riding around Green Bay.
- 48:44So what that was, or was that a lookalike of Rogers?
- 48:47No, that was 100 percent Rogers.
- 48:49So not only was he back there, he was holding the case of Miller Lite.
- 48:52That's what I mean.
- 48:53He like holds it up and everything.
- 48:54So what that is actually is it was it was actually it was after the season that had
- 48:58ended.
- 48:59But how the Packers operate is their practice facility is actually across the street from
- 49:02Lambeau where their locker room is.
- 49:04So you actually have to walk or drive to the practice facility.
- 49:07So that's not an uncommon thing where you'll get three or four guys in the back of a pickup
- 49:11so you don't have to drive individual cars over there because you're in full pads.
- 49:14Sure.
- 49:15It's one of the intricacies of Lambeau.
- 49:16That's crazy.
- 49:17Yeah, no, that's cool.
- 49:18That's cool.
- 49:19So you actually like now he's not holding up a case of beer during the season doing
- 49:22that.
- 49:23But no, but I reason it got brought to light is because of the beer.
- 49:25And I know, but that's my favorite picture of Rogers of all time.
- 49:29And it's it kind of paints a pictures of pro athletes in general, like they're they're
- 49:33effing human beings to the real over, dude.
- 49:35He can go have fun.
- 49:37Some people were mad about it.
- 49:38And I don't know.
- 49:39This was like, what, three years ago.
- 49:40So we don't need to keep talking about it.
- 49:41But like, I kind of want that, you know, when we get our banter studio built, kind of want
- 49:46that as a picture like on the wall.
- 49:48I wouldn't be a case of beer.
- 49:50I would love it.
- 49:51Yeah, man.
- 49:52It's a it's just it's just Rogers is so misportrayed in the media to who he really is.
- 49:58And I mean, I'm not saying that as a homer.
- 50:00It's like, obviously, I'm a big Rogers fan, I said earlier, I have his jersey.
- 50:04He's in my.
- 50:05Well, we're not going to get into this debate.
- 50:06That's for another time.
- 50:07I won't even say it to just even go there.
- 50:11I'm not going to say he's not the greatest quarterback of all time.
- 50:13He's not the greatest of all time, but he's the most talented of all time.
- 50:16So in my opinion, there's three different ways to view a quarterback.
- 50:18You have the most accomplished, the most talented and the greatest of all time.
- 50:22So those three Tom Brady takes two of the three.
- 50:24I think he's the greatest and the most accomplished.
- 50:26Obviously, the most Super Bowls.
- 50:27He is the most accomplished.
- 50:28When you put it all together, to me, the talent and the accomplishments together, you put
- 50:34those together and that's what becomes the greatest.
- 50:37So the seven rings speak for themselves.
- 50:38At the end of the day, the guy can play the fucking game of football, too.
- 50:41He was a hell of a player.
- 50:42But I would say Aaron Rodgers is more talented.
- 50:46Would you say he's more talented than Patrick Mahomes?
- 50:49Patrick Mahomes hasn't had a long enough career for me to make that judgment.
- 50:52When Patrick Mahomes, when it's all said and done, Patrick Mahomes will probably own the
- 50:55title of both.
- 50:56I mean, right, right.
- 50:58I could see that as well.
- 50:59Don't get me wrong, a couple of years ago, Aaron Rodgers, 100 percent.
- 51:03I mean, he's been so consistent since he really took over the starting job.
- 51:07I agree with you 100 percent.
- 51:09He could be the most skilled, but I do believe Patrick Mahomes is a better quarterback than
- 51:13Aaron Rodgers is or will be by the end of his career.
- 51:16Yeah, we'll see.
- 51:17We'll see.
- 51:18I agree with you.
- 51:19I really do think with as long as Andy Reid sticks around for the bulk of his career,
- 51:24I think that's an integral part of Patrick Mahomes' success.
- 51:26And that's again what I was bringing up earlier, coaching a quarterback.
- 51:30That's one of them.
- 51:31That's one of the combinations, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.
- 51:33Andy Reid has helped make who Patrick Mahomes is.
- 51:35He has all the skills in the world, but Andy Reid knows how to utilize them correctly.
- 51:40You know what I mean?
- 51:41No, 100 percent agree.
- 51:42And like Belichick and Tom Brady, you know, obviously the combination of the two, Tom
- 51:46Brady proved he can do it on his own too, but the combination of the two, you know what
- 51:50I mean?
- 51:51So I think, yeah, no, it's cool.
- 51:53It's cool.
- 51:54Yeah.
- 51:55Well, we'll move on.
- 51:56We'll get into our next segment here.
- 52:00Mr. Smelty, what's the Bonehead Move of the Week, sir?
- 52:04So Bonehead Move of the Week, I kind of I don't know.
- 52:09I guess the title is Michael Thomas is an ass clown.
- 52:13It was weird.
- 52:14So this story kind of actually surfaced right before they played the Vikings and he still
- 52:18played in the game and all that shit.
- 52:20But allegedly some weird parking dispute or something happened between Michael Thomas
- 52:25and some construction worker or whatever to the point where allegedly Michael Thomas saw
- 52:31a brick or something over here on the on top of whatever and started hooking him at this
- 52:36dude's truck and turned into this big deal.
- 52:39And now that now, you know, Thomas was arrested.
- 52:43But without incident, you know, he went in, took his you know, it's pretty much just a
- 52:47slap on the wrist.
- 52:48Plus, who knows the type of attorneys that these guys can afford?
- 52:51Like it's not going to end up being a big deal.
- 52:53But the reason why it's the Bonehead Move of the Week for me and then let me know.
- 52:59But like I get if you're frustrated or something, but like you got you still got to control
- 53:04yourself a little bit, right?
- 53:06Like now don't get me wrong, if he's disrespecting you or being racist or something crazy, right?
- 53:10Like you have every right to lose your freaking mind, in my opinion.
- 53:14But you know, like your job, right?
- 53:18You in your job and me in my position at my job.
- 53:21Like we still have to walk out this door and go be a professional and still, you know,
- 53:26our name is still attached to that company, whether we want it to be or not.
- 53:29I like that mine is.
- 53:31You probably do as well.
- 53:32I would agree.
- 53:33I mean, just like that.
- 53:34I got decals on my truck.
- 53:35Yes, I mean, that's what.
- 53:36But OK, there you go.
- 53:37Decals on your truck, though, right?
- 53:38So now when you're driving around, you're thinking about that.
- 53:41You know what I mean?
- 53:42It's the same deal, right?
- 53:43Yeah, you're representing a professional football team.
- 53:45But I think that's the same idea to me.
- 53:48So I don't know.
- 53:49What are your thoughts on the incident as a whole and then kind of that back that back
- 53:53end?
- 53:54No, I mean, I agree with you 100 percent.
- 53:55I mean, I think this was an easy bonehead move of the week.
- 53:58The crazy thing is, is that the contractor that was parked there, they're doing work
- 54:02on the neighbor's house across the street.
- 54:04There's nothing illegal about what the contractor is doing.
- 54:07There's no reason for Michael Thomas to worry about that car unless if he just cares that
- 54:11it blocks the obstruction of the fucking neighbor's house he's looking at.
- 54:14Right.
- 54:15Well, and then the thing was like he was frustrated about the car and then the guy started recording
- 54:19them.
- 54:20And then that's when Michael Thomas snapped, I guess.
- 54:22Like that's when he got real upset because he's like, dude, don't record me, which whatever.
- 54:25Right.
- 54:26Right.
- 54:27Right.
- 54:28And then like shove the guy and all this shit.
- 54:29That's why it's like technically assault, I think, like the lowest level version of
- 54:34assault.
- 54:35Again, which is probably gonna get thrown out.
- 54:36Right.
- 54:37It's a petty misdemeanor that Michael Thomas is going to pay that motherfucker 10, 15 grand
- 54:40and he's not going to get suspended for a game or nothing like that.
- 54:43Yeah, right.
- 54:44He violated the NFL's conduct policy.
- 54:47But again, that's some, you know, you technically work for the NFL.
- 54:52Like you're representing what the NFL stands for, which we could go into a whole pot and
- 54:56what we think the NFL stands for, good or bad.
- 54:59Right.
- 55:00But like, I think that could be a whole thing.
- 55:01But let's leave it alone.
- 55:04Let's leave it alone.
- 55:06But you know, I don't know.
- 55:08I think he did.
- 55:09I think, yeah, bonehead move of the week.
- 55:10I think he acted out of character a little bit for Michael Thomas.
- 55:14But I think part of that could be on field frustrations, the fact that he's really not
- 55:18the guy like he was.
- 55:21Even if he's in the lineup to me, he's not the guy anymore.
- 55:23So he's a starting receiver for the New Orleans Saints.
- 55:26You're one of you're you're in a position of one of 64 people in the world as a starting
- 55:31receiver on an NFL football team.
- 55:35You cannot make that decision and lose your control like that, whether it was justified
- 55:40or not in the modern day that we live in, you will be recorded, you will be found out.
- 55:46The thing about it, the funny thing, too, is like, you know, let's say he settles for
- 55:4910 grand.
- 55:50You know, the NFL PAs paying all the attorney fees to get this shit brushed under the rug,
- 55:55because again, it's a representation of the National Football League.
- 55:58Well, and again, that's another thing I was going to bring up is you haven't really heard
- 56:01a whole ton about it per se.
- 56:03Like it's out there.
- 56:04You can find it and stuff.
- 56:06But like everybody's just kind of in Joe Schmo on it.
- 56:09You're not really reading into it too much.
- 56:12States control yourself.
- 56:14Stay under control.
- 56:15Yeah, man, I'm 100 percent with you.
- 56:17I'm 100 percent with you.
- 56:19Well, let's get into the week 11 slate.
- 56:22We're going to start off with the Chargers traveling up to Lambeau Field, taking on my
- 56:27Packers.
- 56:28Chargers are a three point favorite in this game.
- 56:31Honestly, I really don't think the Packers have a fighting chance, man.
- 56:36It sucks to say, but the Chargers defense isn't great.
- 56:39They're good.
- 56:40I don't think our offense is worth any two shits as it's been well documented at this
- 56:45point.
- 56:46So we're not going to be able to move the ball.
- 56:47And if the Chargers are putting up, what was it, 38 points on the Lions?
- 56:50Yeah, yeah.
- 56:51What are they going to do to the Packers?
- 56:53Swiss cheese of a D. So saying that I'm taking the Chargers in this one, they're going to
- 56:57take that three points and they are going to cover.
- 56:59No, I hear you.
- 57:00I'm going to agree with you there as well.
- 57:01I think Chargers cover.
- 57:03Yeah, what again, like you said, what they did to the Lions defense last week, it took
- 57:08them a while to get going, though.
- 57:10So I think that's something to keep an eye on.
- 57:12I think the Packers need to take advantage of the Chargers potential slow start.
- 57:16Doesn't matter.
- 57:17The Packers have the worst slow, the worst starting, like slow starting in the history
- 57:21of the NFL.
- 57:22I know, that's what I mean.
- 57:23It's going to be probably six to three first half, if that, you know what I mean?
- 57:28Seriously.
- 57:29And then I think the Chargers do get the win in the second half.
- 57:31But it's yeah, I, you know, I don't know what I'm trying to say, I guess I had something
- 57:38else to say.
- 57:39But yeah, let's just Chargers get the win for me.
- 57:41Yeah, I think this can be a big breakout game for Austin Eckler hasn't really done too terribly
- 57:45much this year.
- 57:46You know, he's been hurt, came back last week with a limited role and the Packers.
- 57:50I mean, if we're letting up 200 yards rushing to the Steelers, what the fuck is Eckler going
- 57:54to do to us?
- 57:55And that offense really missed having Eckler.
- 57:57I mean, even even though this week I think he only went for like 30 yards or something,
- 58:01really not a lot.
- 58:02But like knowing he's back there and he can pop, he can pop some off anytime he really
- 58:06wants to.
- 58:07So definitely something to keep an eye on.
- 58:09And I remembered what I was going to say.
- 58:11I think the Chargers defense is not good, but it's good enough to beat the Packers offense.
- 58:16And I think the Chargers offense will dog walk the Packers defense, unfortunately, in
- 58:19the second half.
- 58:20Seriously, I'm in agreement with you, man.
- 58:23So we're going to move on to your Vikings traveling to Denver, taking on the red hot
- 58:28brought you can argue these are the two hottest teams in the NFL.
- 58:31The Denver go the Broncos go into this game is a two and a half point favorite.
- 58:34Who do you got in this one?
- 58:36Smeltzy?
- 58:37I think this one's going to be interesting.
- 58:39This is going to show you Dobbs outside in in the outdoor element for the first time
- 58:47since he's been in a Viking uniform because I played at Atlanta and then in Minnesota.
- 58:52Now we're going outside to Denver, which, you know, weather's hit or miss.
- 58:55It could snow that day and then melt later.
- 58:57So, you know, I'm obviously going to take my vikes, to be honest with you.
- 59:04I think Denver's little run, I guess you could call it, is going to stop stop this week.
- 59:10They're still a little off, but they're they're absolutely getting better.
- 59:13And I think I would imagine Sean Payton and Russell Wilson's relationship might be getting
- 59:18a little better.
- 59:19I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.
- 59:20I'm taking Denver as the two and a half point favorite.
- 59:23That's fine.
- 59:24Go for it.
- 59:25I think Russell Wilson has kind of come back to his true form as of the last couple of
- 59:28weeks.
- 59:29And, you know, with their three game win streak, they didn't beat Scrubs.
- 59:32They beat Packers.
- 59:33That's one of them.
- 59:34That's a gimme.
- 59:35But they beat the Chiefs in the Bills.
- 59:37You know, now the Bills, I'm not sold on.
- 59:39They're looking pretty fucking awful right now.
- 59:40But beating the Chiefs is a big deal right now.
- 59:43It is.
- 59:44It is.
- 59:45Now, granted, Mahomes had the flu that game.
- 59:46He wasn't Mahomes.
- 59:47But nonetheless, I mean, when you get on a three game win streak, like the momentum that
- 59:50carries you go down to what's not mile high anymore, but it'll forever be mile high to
- 59:54me.
- 59:55Yeah, it's mile high.
- 59:56It's just like it's Hinesfield.
- 59:57It's not Acresha.
- 59:58No, yeah, it's Hinesfield.
- 59:59Yeah, bro, come on.
- 1:00:00Yeah, no, I'm right there with you.
- 1:00:01Yeah, so I think Denver's going to win this game by, you know, I think it's a touchdown
- 1:00:06game.
- 1:00:07I think it's a close game.
- 1:00:08Yeah.
- 1:00:09Yeah, I think it's a touchdown game.
- 1:00:10And I think Dobbs is going to kind of come back to earth this week playing on those outside
- 1:00:12elements.
- 1:00:13That Denver defense is fucking good, man.
- 1:00:15No, it is.
- 1:00:16It is.
- 1:00:17And Patrick Surtain's a, I'm sorry.
- 1:00:19I mean, yeah, Patrick Surtain, he's a baller.
- 1:00:23That kid's a straight baller.
- 1:00:25He could eventually challenge, I mean, he could already be challenging Soss Gardner
- 1:00:29because Soss has kind of dropped off a little bit this year.
- 1:00:31I'm taking Surtain over Soss all day.
- 1:00:33I think Surtain's the best cornerback in the NFL right now.
- 1:00:35All right, fair.
- 1:00:37And like, I don't really have a ton of argument on that.
- 1:00:39I think Soss is still a great player, but I think Surtain could challenge him for that.
- 1:00:44Yeah, and it's, I think the big thing this week is if, if JJ does come back, how limited
- 1:00:50he's going to be, you're going to have Surtain on him.
- 1:00:53But I think if JJ comes back at even like a 50 to 75% roll, which I don't see happening,
- 1:00:58you know, that's going to, that's going to allow Surtain to go over to Jordan Addison.
- 1:01:01I don't want, I don't want JJ back unless he's a hundred percent straight up, especially
- 1:01:06with a hamstring.
- 1:01:07He won't be, there's no way he comes back and plays a full load.
- 1:01:09That's not the modern day NFL.
- 1:01:10They have the snap counts, the pitch counts, whatever you want to call it.
- 1:01:13And with how well, like you said, Addison will be covered by Surtain and with how well
- 1:01:16TJ has been playing, that's your guy this game.
- 1:01:19But now you got, but now you got, um, uh, what's his name?
- 1:01:23Jalen Naylor too, but nah, the other kid, uh, Powell.
- 1:01:27Powell's been starting to show up the last couple of games and he's a little shifty player
- 1:01:31too.
- 1:01:32You look at that Broncos defense, you got Pat Surtain taking out the number one corner,
- 1:01:35number one receiver.
- 1:01:36You got Justin Simmons back there taking out the tight end.
- 1:01:39Like Justin Simmons coming back to that defense, he was hurt in the first half or the first
- 1:01:42couple of games of the year.
- 1:01:43He's an integral part of that defense.
- 1:01:45That's the matchup of the game for me, TJ Hugginson and Justin Simmons.
- 1:01:48Yeah, I couldn't disagree.
- 1:01:49I think because TJ's dropped a lot of balls when he's covered heavy this year.
- 1:01:53So I think if he can come down with them, that's, that's the difference in the game.
- 1:01:57I agree.
- 1:01:58I agree.
- 1:01:59So we differ on that one.
- 1:02:00Let's move on to the next game.
- 1:02:01No, the next two games, AFC North matchups here.
- 1:02:05I think this week could play an integral part in how the AFC North unfolds this year.
- 1:02:09What a crazy division.
- 1:02:10I mean, in my opinion, it exactly is.
- 1:02:13I mean, in my opinion, it's, it's, it's not even remotely close.
- 1:02:16Hands down, the best division in football.
- 1:02:19So much fun to watch right now.
- 1:02:21So we have the Bengals traveling to Baltimore, taking on the Ravens.
- 1:02:24The Ravens are a three and a half point favorite.
- 1:02:26That honestly kind of surprises me that they're a three and a half point favorite after losing
- 1:02:30to the Browns last week.
- 1:02:31The Bengals are pretty hot right now.
- 1:02:33Joey Burrow looks like his normal self.
- 1:02:36But personally, I think the Ravens are going to bounce back this game and I have them covering
- 1:02:39that four and a half, three and a half points.
- 1:02:41I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you for once.
- 1:02:43Actually, I think the Bengals are going to be a little bit too much for the Ravens this
- 1:02:47week.
- 1:02:48I think the Ravens giving up the lead they did last week is extremely concerning.
- 1:02:54So I don't know.
- 1:02:55I think I just, my gut, I don't really have anything else to go off of for that game,
- 1:03:00but I think Joey B is just going to light it up.
- 1:03:04You know, it's hard to not make that the game of the week, but we're going to get to one
- 1:03:07a little bit later here.
- 1:03:08That definitely takes the cake for it.
- 1:03:09But what a week, what a slate this week, man.
- 1:03:11I mean, there was two or three other games we were kind of contemplating putting in here.
- 1:03:15We unfortunately have to include the Packers and Vikings.
- 1:03:18Well, we unfortunately have to include the Packers.
- 1:03:20I'm not going to say anything about the Vikings at this point.
- 1:03:22You can say unfortunately the Vikings.
- 1:03:23You're a Packer fan.
- 1:03:24Five game win streak, dude.
- 1:03:26Josh Dobbs, yeah, pastor not.
- 1:03:29That's potentially the story of the league if he keeps us up for this season.
- 1:03:33Like just crazy story, you know, of the year, like comes in, no practice time and just,
- 1:03:36you know.
- 1:03:37But pastor not, what are we going to say?
- 1:03:38That's my favorite nickname in the NFL right now, man.
- 1:03:40I love that shit.
- 1:03:42So we're going to transition on to the other AFC North matchup here.
- 1:03:45We have the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Cleveland Browns.
- 1:03:49Browns are a four point favorite in that game.
- 1:03:52What are your thoughts, man?
- 1:03:53Yeah, after the way to Sean Watson looked this week, I'm absolutely taking the Browns
- 1:03:57and they'll cover.
- 1:03:59I think this is where the Steelers season kind of stops.
- 1:04:03Don't get me wrong.
- 1:04:04I think every game they play the rest of the season will be competitive.
- 1:04:07I think the Steelers are close.
- 1:04:08I don't know really what they need next, to be honest with you.
- 1:04:12But I just, the Browns at home coming off of a big frickin win in Baltimore, like those
- 1:04:20fans are going to be ready.
- 1:04:22It's going to be a tough place to play.
- 1:04:24I think Cleveland covers.
- 1:04:26I'm in agreement with you here.
- 1:04:27I think the Browns are going to ride that momentum from last week to playing with that
- 1:04:30dog pound at home.
- 1:04:31This is, you know, traditional Steelers Browns football.
- 1:04:34It's going to be a hard nose, run orientated offense.
- 1:04:37I just don't see the Browns rushing for 200 yards this week against that Steelers defense.
- 1:04:41Oh, no.
- 1:04:42And the Browns defense is just simply too good for Kenny Pickett and that offense to get
- 1:04:47going.
- 1:04:48100%.
- 1:04:49And what I saw in Deshaun Watson last week, Ravens have a good defense.
- 1:04:51I think he's going to make a case here going towards the end of the year here of why he's
- 1:04:56deserving of that contract.
- 1:04:58And he's going to perform, man.
- 1:04:59Do you know who the Browns top corner is?
- 1:05:01Is it Greg Newsom or no?
- 1:05:02Denzel Ward.
- 1:05:03Oh, Denzel Ward.
- 1:05:04He's locking up Pickens.
- 1:05:05I mean, Pickens hasn't done two, we've been two shits this year.
- 1:05:07He had a decent game this past week.
- 1:05:09He had a decent game this past week.
- 1:05:10He had a couple catches.
- 1:05:11He had one good game.
- 1:05:12Where he actually knew where the sideline was this week.
- 1:05:15He's on my fantasy team, dog.
- 1:05:16He's had one good game this year.
- 1:05:19He's had one good game.
- 1:05:20Oh, no, I mean, he had a couple catches last week, but it's I just don't think that the
- 1:05:27Steelers can do it.
- 1:05:28I mean, if it was at Hines Field, it might be a little bit different.
- 1:05:31It's a little bit more of a 50-50 for me.
- 1:05:33I still don't think the Steelers win that game, but they might cover that four points.
- 1:05:36Playing in Pittsburgh's tough place, too.
- 1:05:37Yeah, I see the in Pittsburgh, I see it as a field goal game.
- 1:05:41So I think that the Steelers would cover that four, but I mean, in Cleveland, the way the
- 1:05:44Browns are rolling right now, especially with that defense.
- 1:05:46Seven to ten point game?
- 1:05:48Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:50I think it's going to be, I mean, I'm taking the, I don't know what the over under is in
- 1:05:53this game, but if it's under 45, I'm taking the under all day.
- 1:05:57Yeah, oh yeah, sure.
- 1:05:58All right, so that takes us to the last game on the slate here.
- 1:06:01The game of the week.
- 1:06:03We have the Philadelphia Eagles traveling down to Arrowhead and taking on the Kansas
- 1:06:07City Chiefs.
- 1:06:08The Chiefs being a two and a half point favorite here, Smelty.
- 1:06:12Two of the best teams in the NFL projected to be going into the season.
- 1:06:15Neither one has really disappointed.
- 1:06:17Who do you got, man?
- 1:06:18I mean, just...
- 1:06:19Super Bowl rematch.
- 1:06:20Yeah, Super Bowl rematch, Super Bowl preview, question mark.
- 1:06:25Who knows?
- 1:06:26Could we see the same two teams in the Super Bowl again?
- 1:06:28Don't get me started.
- 1:06:29I think the 49ers and Eagles would be a ridiculously awesome NFC championship game right now, but
- 1:06:36Super Bowl preview maybe.
- 1:06:37I don't know, but to be honest right now, this is the game for me that will prove who
- 1:06:44the Eagles are this season.
- 1:06:45This is the one right here in Kansas City.
- 1:06:48Tough place to play.
- 1:06:49We all know.
- 1:06:50I mean, really any place is tough in the NFL to play unless you're shit, but I don't know.
- 1:06:56I take the Chiefs on this one.
- 1:06:57I think Patrick Mahomes and company are just too much.
- 1:07:00I think the Eagles defense has yet to do enough for me to trust them to beat the Chiefs right
- 1:07:07now, if that makes sense.
- 1:07:09I think the Eagles offense is there.
- 1:07:11I think they're going to be able to put up points on that Chiefs defense.
- 1:07:14No issue.
- 1:07:15But I don't know...
- 1:07:17I think it's going to be a shootout.
- 1:07:18I think it's going to be a shootout.
- 1:07:20But I take Chiefs.
- 1:07:22I agree with you, brother.
- 1:07:23I think it is going to be a shootout.
- 1:07:25I think these are two of the most high powered offenses in the NFL.
- 1:07:27I'm going to take the Chiefs in this one too.
- 1:07:30I think this is a field goal game.
- 1:07:31So that's two and a half.
- 1:07:32Oh, what a game.
- 1:07:33Yeah.
- 1:07:34Yeah.
- 1:07:35If it was even three, three and a half, I might reconsider, but two and a half points,
- 1:07:37I think this is a field goal game.
- 1:07:38It's going to be who comes down to that last possession.
- 1:07:41And I like this Chiefs team, man.
- 1:07:44They don't have the offensive firepower that they had in years before, but you got Travis
- 1:07:48Kelsey, you got Patrick Mahomes, and you got Isaiah Pacheco doing a pretty good thing back
- 1:07:52there.
- 1:07:53I think the Chiefs defense is one of the best in the league.
- 1:07:55They've shown that.
- 1:07:56They've proven that.
- 1:07:57I'm still not sold on that Philadelphia defense.
- 1:08:00I need to see more.
- 1:08:01That's what I'm saying.
- 1:08:02I just, I think they're legit.
- 1:08:04But like to what you're saying, I think we just need to see a little bit more.
- 1:08:07Yeah, we just need to see a little bit more before I can like fully confident they can
- 1:08:11take out.
- 1:08:12Now the game against the Cowboys, that was pretty impressive to me.
- 1:08:14You know, they won that game and I was impressed by that.
- 1:08:18They showed they could beat a top tier team.
- 1:08:21But this is, this is the game.
- 1:08:23You also got to keep in mind here, you got Andy Reid playing against his old team.
- 1:08:28That's always going to give him a little bit more juice and motivation.
- 1:08:31And who doesn't love seeing a Super Bowl rematch week 11 of the NFL season, man?
- 1:08:36Oh, man.
- 1:08:37And is it Sunday night or Monday night?
- 1:08:38I can't remember.
- 1:08:39Sunday night.
- 1:08:40Yeah.
- 1:08:41I mean, prime time.
- 1:08:42I mean, this is game of the year so far to this point, I'd reckon to say.
- 1:08:46But oh, man, I'm excited.
- 1:08:49I'll be watching this one for sure.
- 1:08:51Game of the year so far.
- 1:08:52I mean, it's pretty, pretty hands down to me.
