- 0:14Hello, everyone, and welcome to for Azeroth the podcast, all
- 0:17about World of Warcraft. I'm your host Jocelyn.
- 0:20You guys remember me, obviously, from the first 34 episodes, but
- 0:23now we have moved away from a move TV and I have a new
- 0:27co-host. I want you all to welcome Mani.
- 0:29Thank you. So Much for joining me.
- 0:30Manny thanks for having me on board.
- 0:33It's really great to be part of this.
- 0:36I am so excited. If you guys aren't familiar with
- 0:38whom Annie is he has been a mod in the, a move, chat room for a
- 0:41very long time. He's a member of my RAID team.
- 0:44He is just, as far as I'm concerned.
- 0:47A wow, Guru, he knows all of the things but I'm not going to tell
- 0:51you everything that he knows. I'm going to let him do that.
- 0:53So many. Why don't you tell everybody
- 0:55kind of your history with Warcraft and what you bring to
- 0:58the table? Well in class.
- 1:00Asik meme status. I've been playing since vanilla
- 1:02and as soon as you talk to somebody who's been playing
- 1:05since vanilla, they're going to tell you that.
- 1:07I just had to get that out there.
- 1:09But I being rating since molten core, I left the game for a
- 1:14little bit, came back because nobody ever really quits.
- 1:17Wow, it's so dark and yeah, like that's been my focus in.
- 1:21Wow, I've been doing rating at different levels through, like,
- 1:25heroic when that was top level to the introduction of Mythic
- 1:29Fallen. Back into being like, an elf,
- 1:31our hero for a bit and then now stepping back into the heroic
- 1:35arena with get your crit together and you also, you do a
- 1:40lot of, not only like, PVP stuff.
- 1:42Because I know you're one of the few Raiders on our team and I'm
- 1:46including myself in this who actually goes and does, like,
- 1:48PVP dailies and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:50So you've got a little bit of PVP to bring to the table as
- 1:53well as you run Mythic pluses like crazy.
- 1:56I do Mythic buses. Yes, but not like crazy.
- 1:59There are Groups that go through that and they're hitting 20s.
- 2:03And so forth on the regular, I do my 15 Claire, so that I get a
- 2:07nice piece in my chest and I'm able to a few more.
- 2:10But I would, definitely not say, I'm crazy for Mythic plus I do
- 2:15spend a lot of time with like the general Community.
- 2:20I'm in the discourse, I talked to various size Theory Crafters
- 2:24because I love systems. Like, if you're the or person
- 2:27and Garrett was the Aesthetics and graphics.
- 2:30I am definitely a guy who loves the systems of wow and like how
- 2:34things are determined? Exactly.
- 2:36That's what I mean by visit plus like crazy because honestly, I
- 2:41can't even remember the names of the ethics is.
- 2:43So I'm really, really glad to have you onboard because I think
- 2:47that you bring just a great wealth of knowledge to the show.
- 2:51So with all that being said, we should jump right into the news
- 2:53because we have a big show for you guys this week.
- 2:56We are bringing back our new segment.
- 2:57We are still going to cover lure and we're also Adding a new
- 3:00segment to the show all about Community tools and add-ons, for
- 3:04World of Warcraft. So that being said, if you guys
- 3:07have any add-ons that you want us to talk about in later
- 3:10episodes of for Azeroth, we're going back to a weekly format.
- 3:13So we need all of your input and we want to know what add-ons you
- 3:17use and what add-ons you're curious about that, you'd like
- 3:19to hear us dive into. So, let's get into the news
- 3:22here. First of all, we had an alpha Q
- 3:24and A that happened on March 15th with Ian and Josh, and they
- 3:28covered a new Allied race. The Azurite system and PVP
- 3:31Prestige reward. So it was there there normal
- 3:36like one hour, long conversation with kind of pre-chosen
- 3:39questions and we did get some answers to some of the things
- 3:42that I know I've been wondering about a lot as a PVP player but
- 3:46probably the biggest news was that, they actually confirmed
- 3:49that the cool Turin are actually going to be.
- 3:52These are the conspiracy hero, our hero human humans are not
- 3:56Heroes, the culture and human models.
- 4:00I have now been there confirmed. They're going to be an Allied
- 4:03race. And the models are currently a
- 4:05viewable on Wowhead. So many.
- 4:07Have you seen the? I'm sure you've seen them.
- 4:09But what are your thoughts on the culture and human models and
- 4:14their Druid counterparts? As you can actually see their
- 4:17shape shifted forms to Karen's look amazing in their glorious
- 4:22forms. I love the male ones because
- 4:24they look, whether they look like they have a story behind
- 4:27them. The females, look, a Little to
- 4:31do. I'd I wish they would like rough
- 4:33them up more but same opinion. When I saw the male's, I was
- 4:36like yeah, they look like big Gruff, like Sailors.
- 4:40But then I looked at the females, I was like, hmm, I
- 4:42don't know about this. And in the storyline in the
- 4:47alpha without going to spoilers, they have females that are rough
- 4:52and tumble and ready to hang out with just everybody but those
- 4:56models just look too soft. Yeah.
- 5:00Soft is a really good word for it?
- 5:01I do like, however, that they are kind of playing with some
- 5:05different body types. So the culture and seem to be
- 5:08much taller and wider and bigger than the traditional human.
- 5:13Ian model. So I feel like I enjoy the fact
- 5:16that they're just playing around with those body types.
- 5:18I think it's, you know, long overdue and World of Warcraft to
- 5:21have a little bit more representation in that way, but
- 5:25I didn't love the Druid, the bear form, I don't know if you I
- 5:30mean you must have seen it but it looks weird to me.
- 5:34Everyone is freaking out about them and so excited and I was
- 5:37kind of like oh, I don't know, there's too many sticks.
- 5:42Well it's that in. Fire wicker feel that they have
- 5:45all through kill terrorists. That they've brought into it.
- 5:47So it very much, makes sense in a lore standpoint.
- 5:50When you get there, you'll see it doesn't make sense.
- 5:55I do like that, it's not a universal appeal.
- 5:58They have said that they want these new Allied races to be at
- 6:01the same level, not above beer, original races.
- 6:05So having them be different separate, but at that same level
- 6:09and maybe a niche, if not, universally attractive is
- 6:13Awesome. Same thing with the zandalari,
- 6:15trolls, those dinosaur forms, or cool, for some people, and
- 6:19really wear it for others, and that's great for me.
- 6:22Yeah. And actually touching on the
- 6:24point. You just made, they're talking
- 6:26about how they want Allied races to be, kind of on the same level
- 6:29as the original Races. They also did talk a little bit
- 6:33about how They were going to do or like how Heritage armor for
- 6:40the original races isn't in the immediate plans, but that it was
- 6:43definitely something that they were thinking about moving
- 6:46towards, which makes sense. Because again, they don't want
- 6:48people to just all start playing Allied races because they don't
- 6:51like don't have Heritage armor for their, you know, human or
- 6:54blood elf, you know. So I like the idea that they are
- 6:58first of all, keeping the factions balanced and bringing
- 7:01Allied races in pairs, and then also that they're considering
- 7:06kind. Dove giving more.
- 7:09I don't necessarily know if I want to call it back story, but
- 7:12just kind of like, flushing out some of the older races, to put
- 7:15them on par with the Allied Races, by doing things like
- 7:17Heritage armor and I imagine, like, the original races are
- 7:20never going to be like unlockable.
- 7:22The way that the Allied races are but it would be really nice
- 7:25to have an, I guess they kind of do in some of their starting
- 7:28zones, but like I just, I really like the the initial stuff that
- 7:33you do to unlock the Allied races.
- 7:36Like Thing to gain rep with factions and and playthroughs,
- 7:39own stories and stuff. So, some of those kind of tweaks
- 7:43to original races, would be really cool to have, and I think
- 7:45Heritage armors the top of that list.
- 7:48Most definitely, like I love the Heritage armor for the new
- 7:51Allied races. I do love the introduction Crest
- 7:54on, how you bring them in. It's very much like a natural
- 7:58expansion to the way they've been bringing story more into
- 8:01the game. When you were doing the Goblins,
- 8:04they have their introduction storyline but If you didn't roll
- 8:07a goblin they just start showing up in Orgrimmar.
- 8:09This is very much like this is how they become part of the part
- 8:18of the team. And I do love that I do love
- 8:21that they're trying to do the storyline for or for bringing
- 8:28the factions in. And yes that's part of what
- 8:30battle for a sawed-off is about Gathering forces so we can fight
- 8:34each other but this seems to be the way.
- 8:36A they're going to go about bringing in races going forward.
- 8:40Yes. Yeah.
- 8:41Which I love. I think it's a great idea.
- 8:43It's so much nicer than just like they kind of started this.
- 8:46I feel like with the pandas because you got the panda
- 8:49starting zone and you didn't have to choose a hoarder
- 8:52Alliance until you hit Level 10. So it kind of gave an
- 8:55introduction to the wondering aisle and who the pandas were as
- 8:58a race and everything else before you picked faction or
- 9:01anything like that. So I feel like that was the
- 9:03first kind of experiment with telling a little bit more of a
- 9:05racial story. Re and I think it succeeded and
- 9:08I'm glad that they're carrying it forward, with Allied races.
- 9:11The other thing, a couple of other things that we pulled from
- 9:13the Q&A that we wanted to tell you guys about were that.
- 9:16They told us a little bit more about what's going to happen to
- 9:18our artifact weapons. So apparently it's going to be a
- 9:22while before we replace our artifact weapons with like
- 9:25Quest, reward weapons, and things like that in battle for
- 9:28Azeroth. So our artifact weapons are
- 9:30still going to be in use and intact with are relics, but all
- 9:34of the traits will be going away.
- 9:35So there Essentially going to like burn away, all the power of
- 9:39our artifacts that sounds like and we will just be left with
- 9:42like a bow that's of a certain item level.
- 9:45So I don't know if that means that we're going to keep the
- 9:48item level that we currently have.
- 9:49Like I think my artifact weapon is currently around like 970 or
- 9:54980. I'm sure Manny's is much much
- 9:57higher. So yeah, I don't know if we're
- 10:02going to kind of stay at that power level.
- 10:06Or if it's going to drop down a little bit.
- 10:09But one way or another artifact weapons are going to stay with
- 10:11us from the sounds of it almost as long as our legendaries,
- 10:15because they also talked a little bit about how they wanted
- 10:18item level again, which was the, the kind of Direction they took
- 10:21about half way through Legion, they wanted item level to be
- 10:25more important than secondary stats.
- 10:27At least if it was like a more than a 10 item level difference.
- 10:30So, I feel like we're going to hang onto our artifact weapons
- 10:34for at least half of battle, for They're off through the leveling
- 10:37process probably to wear it like 115 or so at least that was the
- 10:41impression I got. That's the impression they're
- 10:43giving. It does depend on a couple of
- 10:46things with the nether light for Crucible.
- 10:48You get like a bunch of eye level there.
- 10:50If that shut off suddenly your item level drops.
- 10:53That's true. Yeah, you'd lose what?
- 10:5515 item levels just from losing it.
- 10:57They did say that you're relics would remain intact but yeah
- 11:00you're right. It depends if those kind of
- 11:04extra bonuses because those were extra bonuses to trace on your
- 11:08weapon other than just the eye level boost.
- 11:10So if they're burning away all of our traits that and disabling
- 11:14everything, then it would stand to reason that the relics would
- 11:17then get disabled at least the buff part of them.
- 11:20So maybe they mean that you'll just keep your Relic with.
- 11:23It's like what's the word I'm looking for like base item level
- 11:28intact? But yeah, we'll have to see but
- 11:31at least they gave us a little bit of an idea.
- 11:33How do you feel about? Out, hanging onto your artifact
- 11:35weapon and then just generically replacing it.
- 11:40When you find a higher item level from questing in battle
- 11:43for Azeroth. Like do you wish that it had
- 11:45just been? They were straight-up destroyed
- 11:48as opposed to like disabled. I wish they could do that, but I
- 11:52understand why they can't, when you're going between seven point
- 11:57three point, five to eight point, oh, it's just such a
- 12:00major change. You going to have new systems
- 12:02come in and if your artifact Was available when you had those new
- 12:06systems, it would change the way classes work.
- 12:10If you have been paying attention to what they've been
- 12:13doing on the PTR, for actually seven point three point five.
- 12:16They actually showed the quest how you're getting rid of your
- 12:19artifacts or what happens to them, as well as the effect of
- 12:22what happens when your artifacts are changed.
- 12:27I'm pretty sure that's going to be a force thing in a porno
- 12:30where the effect will happen regardless, write that little As
- 12:34chain. And that happening would be a
- 12:37great little send-off is just that mechanically we can't send
- 12:40them off like that. It's really I think it's really
- 12:43too bad because what I would like to see is like that
- 12:46question play out. However it's going to play out
- 12:48and I am not as up on the PTR as many as so.
- 12:51I'm not 100% sure what the end result of that question is I've
- 12:55kind of like had been avoiding spoilers until we decided to
- 12:59bring Faz back and then I was like, oh crap, I'm literally
- 13:02like two months behind on all All of this BF a kind of PTR
- 13:06stuff so I need to I need to catch up and so I missed this
- 13:10what's actually going to happen with our artifact weapons.
- 13:14So I guess I kind of wish that at the end of that question, our
- 13:18weapons were just straight up destroyed and then you were
- 13:23given like a token or something that just gave you a new weapon
- 13:30to use that somehow or like your weapon.
- 13:34Destroyed. And then you were given a few
- 13:36upgrade tokens like and then given like, say a base 920 Bo
- 13:41I'm a Hunter. So I'm going to use bows and
- 13:43example and then you had like same item level had originally
- 13:46been 980 on the artifact weapon. I destroyed they just gave me
- 13:50enough tokens to upgrade the bow from a 929 to a 980.
- 13:53So that functionally, I still had a powerful eye level weapon
- 13:58to go into battle for Azeroth with so that I wasn't kind of
- 14:02penalized in any way. For all the work there.
- 14:05Like I guess I'm being rewarded for all the work that I did in
- 14:08Legion to upgrade my artifact weapon.
- 14:11But the artifact weapon then was like gone gone because I feel
- 14:15weird like just I know it's going to feel weird when it
- 14:18happens that my hunter just picks up like a green or a blue
- 14:22bow and that's just, you know, then I just throw my, you know,
- 14:25Talent cloth spear to the side or you notice it totally don't
- 14:29even care about like the windrunner, sisters bow.
- 14:32Like I have a Leary has All right.
- 14:34Now like why would I throw that away?
- 14:36It just the sentimental value there.
- 14:38I would have preferred it to just be sacrificed instead of
- 14:42like disabled. I don't know but I just feel
- 14:47like if I destroyed the doomhammer because I am a shaman
- 14:50through it, that's what I've always played.
- 14:51I've got 12 know, I have 13. Shamans that I've made over the
- 14:56course of wow history. You have 13 different shama car,
- 15:01they all like max level right now.
- 15:04No what happens is that I'll leave one at 60 I'll leave one
- 15:08at 7000. I used to have a thing where I
- 15:11would level up a new Shaman every expansion and then there
- 15:15was my dalliance on the Alliance side but again it's okay you're
- 15:21forgiven it's good to have an alliance player on the podcast
- 15:25to be honest because I haven't done a whole lot of playing on
- 15:27the Alliance side. Garrett hasn't played on the
- 15:29Alliance side since Lich King I think so it's nice to have a
- 15:33little Bit of an alliance voice here.
- 15:35I'm sure a lot of the listeners are going to be really, really
- 15:37happy about that. If what representation I can.
- 15:41But basically the way that they're going with artifact
- 15:46weapons and the way that they are disabled, actually makes
- 15:50sense or wise that you would still have it.
- 15:55It wouldn't have those abilities anymore and that eventually you
- 15:59have to replace it because it no longer grants you, the power
- 16:03that you used. To have and then if later in the
- 16:06lore, they say, hey for all picks up the doomhammer after
- 16:09some random his Heroes dropped it.
- 16:12And he manages to get past what the hero couldn't then the
- 16:16doomhammer is back in play because he's our storied
- 16:19artifacts for the most part that for the ones that they just made
- 16:22up. That is true.
- 16:23I guess. I hope that there and I guess
- 16:26this is probably lore on a level of like I'm one of the few that
- 16:31would actually care about this but I Love if there was just
- 16:35that little piece of flavor that when you do replace your
- 16:38artifact weapon that like it started a quest like when it was
- 16:42back in your bags or something. You got a quest saying like Go
- 16:47see thrall to give him back. The doomhammer go see Illyria
- 16:51and you know, give her back her bow and you know, just do some
- 16:55some sort of like rap the lore up thing.
- 16:58But you're right. When it comes to like the the
- 17:01very storied artifacts it would be and I guess all the artifacts
- 17:04have at have a story now, but some of them like the doomhammer
- 17:07or a little bit more well, known than the others.
- 17:10But yeah, I just, I would like that little kind of bow on the
- 17:13top of the artifact weapon story, but I'm sure not gonna
- 17:16get it. But at least, It does leave the
- 17:17door open for them to tell more stories with those iconic
- 17:20weapons in the future. So, It's at least it's
- 17:24interesting to know what the hell they kind of planned to use
- 17:27the artifact weapons going forward into battle for Azeroth.
- 17:31The other thing that we've been doing a lot of lately is PVP
- 17:33deals. And I have been streaming PVP on
- 17:35Thursdays and we finally got some news about PVP rewards.
- 17:38So, the prestige system, which you guys may or may not be
- 17:41familiar. With is basically, when you're
- 17:44going through, doing PVP activities, you're rewarded with
- 17:46honor which is kind of like the PVP XP if you want to think of
- 17:52it like that. And you level up and then once
- 17:54you hit Level 50, it resets and sends you down to level 1 again,
- 17:58but you are then prestiged. And then you get prestige levels
- 18:01that go up and then every few levels of prestige.
- 18:05So you have to level all the way to 50.
- 18:07Every time before you can proceed again, you there's
- 18:09things. Like there, are, Companion,
- 18:13Pets, there are melts. There are titles.
- 18:19I think are their armor pieces as well.
- 18:21I can't remember. The armor isn't associated with
- 18:26The Prestige, but you do get different tints on your artifact
- 18:30weapon. That's it.
- 18:32And I love the prestige system, but it's 50 levels of grind.
- 18:39It's a big grind. I think, my hunter is the
- 18:41highest Prestige and she's only perceived level 2 because I
- 18:45didn't start really pvping in this expansion until very
- 18:49recently, just really Legion season six is the only one that
- 18:52I've And a lot of time pvping and because up until then there
- 18:56was so much more to do in the game, which is, you know, good
- 18:59job on you blizzard because in Warlords of Draenor, I was
- 19:02pvping almost from the start because the PVE content board
- 19:05the crap out of me. So they did such a good job.
- 19:08At least. I feel like they did such a good
- 19:10job in Legion that I was kind of distracted by everything else
- 19:13and I didn't give PVP a whole lot of time.
- 19:15So I haven't received very high yet but you're right.
- 19:20Manny like oh man those 50 levels of grind and the higher
- 19:26you prestige like the first time.
- 19:28You go through level 1, I think it's worth.
- 19:30Like you need to get like a hundred honor to progress
- 19:33through level 1 and then when your prestige 1 level 1 it's
- 19:37like 150. And then at Prestige to level 1,
- 19:40it's 200. So the levels get progressively
- 19:43harder as well. So, yeah, the amount of Honor XP
- 19:49that you have to earn in order to proceed is just Just man,
- 19:53it's a mountain. But the rewards.
- 19:55The mounts are really cool. And the fact that they're not
- 19:59going away means that, hey, I've got the time to do it.
- 20:02So I don't feel like I'm on such a clock, like I used to, which
- 20:05is great. Yeah, I don't really know.
- 20:07I guess for a while, the messaging coming out of Blizzard
- 20:09was very much like we're not really sure what we're going to
- 20:13do with the prestige system. We don't want to just keep
- 20:15adding more and more prestige levels like on top of what we
- 20:19currently have. So it's kind of interesting that
- 20:23they didn't tell us ahead of time, but I guess they finally
- 20:25just made up their mind to say like, okay, we're just going to
- 20:27leave it. As it is they probably went and
- 20:29looked it kind of everyone's prestige level and went, huh?
- 20:33There's not nearly, as many people that have maxed out their
- 20:35Prestige, as we thought there were going to be.
- 20:38So we'll just leave it in and don't touch it.
- 20:39And you know, you can earn the rewards going forward which I
- 20:42think is a smart decision. I know at least when we do
- 20:46battle grounds and stuff and it's probably has to do with
- 20:49matchmaking as well, but like we might have one or two people on
- 20:54like between both teams who are over level 10.
- 20:58Prestige. Most people have like, one two
- 21:02or three levels of prestige and again that could be matchmaking
- 21:06because I don't play very often. So I'm being matched with other
- 21:08people who have lower PVP levels but I don't know.
- 21:12I don't see that many people in my day-to-day pvping who have
- 21:16perceived levels above, you know, 5 or 10.
- 21:21Well, the population, actually, Mo Champion actually did a graph
- 21:26of people who have Prestige at different levels and maybe I'll
- 21:31try and Link that in the show notes for later.
- 21:34But the amount of people below level 3 is actually most of the
- 21:40population. Hmm, that makes sense.
- 21:43So yeah, I can see why when most of their and even then when you
- 21:46think of like, I don't actually know the percentage of players
- 21:49who take part in PvP Versus the percentage of total players.
- 21:53But I feel like the majority of people that I know and I play
- 21:56with do not PVP. So I know there's a whole PVP
- 22:01Realms and it's possible that I'm just, you know, not as in
- 22:06touch with the PVP Community, As I Am with, You know, the PVE
- 22:09Community because our Guild is 99.9%.
- 22:13PVE are so it could just be that.
- 22:16I'm a little bit at a touch but it feels to me like the PVP
- 22:19population is much much smaller. Taller than PVE.
- 22:22So then if you look at that and then also the fact that most of
- 22:26those PV peers are below the three Prestige, precious three,
- 22:30third Prestige threshold, who just has words, then, it makes
- 22:35sense that if not very many players have actually gotten to
- 22:384 or higher than, you know, why take the rewards away if
- 22:43nobody's kind of gotten there yet.
- 22:44So, I'm glad they're keeping it in.
- 22:45I'm going to keep working on it, past Legion, and looking forward
- 22:49to all the PVP that's going to happen in.
- 22:51Battle for Azeroth. That's honestly.
- 22:52The thing I'm looking for looking forward to the most.
- 22:56We also got a little bit more information about the mission
- 22:59system that they've basically that's like your the followers
- 23:03system where you're sending your Champions out to do different
- 23:06things for you. It's the same thing that we had
- 23:09back in Garrison's. The kind of got update a little
- 23:11bit for Legion sticking around, but it's going to be mostly tied
- 23:15to the war campaign. And the thing that I wanted to
- 23:17mention the most, in the thing that I'm most happy about is
- 23:20they've decided to move. Move away from using it as a
- 23:22Time gate which I'm dating in Legion.
- 23:24Was my biggest pet peeve with the expansion and I'm sure that
- 23:27it's happened before but I think Legions the first expansion
- 23:30where I've really been on The Cutting Edge of endgame content
- 23:34and there's nothing more frustrating and Legion for me
- 23:37than the time gating. What about you Manny?
- 23:39I'm dating is like my second worst experience in.
- 23:43Wow, I remember back in Wrath of the Lich King or ICC, they time
- 23:49gated wings. And it was, this was before LFR,
- 23:53and this was on heroic level where you go in and you could
- 23:57try as much as you want. But if you were not at week 4,
- 24:01you could not get into a certain way.
- 24:02Yeah, I do remember Garrett talking about that too.
- 24:05So it's it's interesting that they implemented that before.
- 24:09L FR was a thing because that's the system they use for LFR now,
- 24:12right, where they unlock, like one week at a time, but normal
- 24:15and heroic full raids are available right from the launch
- 24:18date, now, right? When you have your, we Week 1
- 24:21launch. It'll be normal heroic.
- 24:23And then the next week, mythical open up and alif are staggered
- 24:26over a couple of weeks, right? I'd forgotten the Mythic cuz
- 24:30obviously we don't read Mythic so I'd forgotten that Mythic
- 24:32wasn't the same week as normal and heroic.
- 24:34So but yeah so I'm glad that it seems like they're moving away
- 24:38from time gaining because there were a couple times in the
- 24:42leveling experience and then again I feel like in 7.2, there
- 24:47were a few times 0 and your order Hall had some As to where
- 24:52you had to send your Champions out on missions and they ended
- 24:54up, shortening it for the leveling process and for the
- 24:57order halls. But you had to send your, your
- 24:59Champions out on missions and some of them would take eight to
- 25:0212 hours. So you're sitting there like
- 25:04basically stalled on your main character waiting for these
- 25:07Champions to do these artificially gated missions.
- 25:10So, I'm glad that they're moving away from that speaking of time
- 25:14gating. And moving away from things,
- 25:17they did talk a little bit more about the Azurite system saying
- 25:19that Fact, knowledge was terrible for Alton Legion
- 25:23originally, which I don't think either.
- 25:25One of us is going to disagree with, I didn't start with my ALT
- 25:28until might have even been 7.2, but the Azurite system is going
- 25:33to function a little bit more like artifact knowledge
- 25:35currently does. So I'm assuming that's going to
- 25:38mean something along the lines of it will probably still be
- 25:41time gated. But like at the end of week one,
- 25:45everyone is at the same as a right level.
- 25:47And then at the end of week two, everyone progresses.
- 25:49So, if I log into an Week 3, I don't start back at week, one
- 25:53levels. I just started week three
- 25:54levels, that's at least what I gathered from this.
- 25:57Yeah, definitely. They've learned their lesson
- 25:59from early, Legion, early Legion, you had to like put in
- 26:03the resources and if you're short resources, you fell behind
- 26:07and it felt like a penalty. People would start the game late
- 26:10and they wouldn't be able to catch up and people would start
- 26:13alts because they wanted to switch tunes and they wouldn't
- 26:15be able to catch up. Yeah, I remember.
- 26:18So I leveled in the first like week with my Hunter and I was
- 26:23intending on playing my Hunter and rating with my Hunter and
- 26:26everything else. And then when we started get
- 26:28your crit together, we needed a Healer and I had to switch over
- 26:31to Paladin and that was 7.1. I want to say and trying to get
- 26:39my Paladin to be at the level that it was ready to raid was so
- 26:44frustrating and such a long grind.
- 26:46And I was so far behind everyone else that I wasn't even able to
- 26:50like And I mean, okay, not that I wasn't able but I don't like
- 26:54the feeling of being carried through things and that's really
- 26:58what it felt like when I would do dungeons with my friends or
- 27:00something, you know, like and I just got to hated it so much.
- 27:04So it's good to know that they're going to try to fix that
- 27:07a little bit. Finally, one of the things that
- 27:10they highlighted in the Q&A is that if you want to send
- 27:14feedback to the Des because they do seem like they really want to
- 27:17know a lot of what's kind of going through our heads and what
- 27:20we think. Think they basically highlighted
- 27:22the fact that Twitter is the best way to get to them with
- 27:25short points. But the forums are always better
- 27:27for longer points and they also said and it seems like the kind
- 27:32of thing, that's common sense, but they are going to read and
- 27:35respond, better to things that are logical and respectful.
- 27:38And they want a lot of details. They want you to send in like as
- 27:41opposed to. I think the example they used
- 27:43was something like fix ret pallies there like that comment
- 27:46doesn't really help us. We don't understand what you
- 27:49don't like. We don't know what your
- 27:50experience. It has been.
- 27:51But if you say like I don't like my current rotation, here's the
- 27:55log from my last raid and the fact that I just Spam these two
- 27:59buttons are the problem. Then you're going to kind of
- 28:02inform the development decisions that they make.
- 28:05So I know the warcraft devs, Twitter account has been Super
- 28:09Active. That's the way that the
- 28:10developers have kind of chosen in the last.
- 28:13I want to say, year-and-a-half, possibly two years instead of
- 28:16individual developer accounts. They've moved to this one
- 28:19Warcraft, devs Twitter. Count.
- 28:21So, they're all very active there, they're answering a lot
- 28:23of questions. So especially during this time
- 28:26of like the PTR and the alpha and kind of going into battle
- 28:30for Azeroth, as they do more q&as, and as you guys hear more
- 28:33things from us or other podcasts or wow, head or whatever.
- 28:37If there's anything that kind of Peaks your interest that you
- 28:40like or don't like be sure that you let Warcraft know because
- 28:42they really seem like they're a lot more in tune with the
- 28:44community than they have been in the past.
- 28:46So they're making an effort, we should too.
- 28:50That brings us to our Next lower, or sorry, our next story,
- 28:54which is kind of just a short little tidbit of information.
- 28:56For those of you who aren't aware.
- 28:58Chronicle, volume 3 is coming out, March 27th.
- 29:01So, four days from now, it is the third and final volume and
- 29:05blizzards exhausted his exhaustive history of Azeroth.
- 29:09As you guys know, obviously, I have Chronicle 1 and 2.
- 29:12I love them Chronicle 3 though. Only seems to go up to
- 29:15cataclysm, so I'm kind of sad that there is no fourth volume
- 29:19to kind of cover. Some of the things that we've
- 29:21done in Pandaria and Beyond, I mean, maybe they just want to
- 29:25bury Warlords of Draenor and pretend it never happened.
- 29:28I did a mini. What do you think?
- 29:30I think it's a yet. I think there's no fourth
- 29:33edition yet because we are so close to current time that it
- 29:37wouldn't be right to do that. We have the space for the stuff
- 29:41that's going into volume 3 for them to the say discovers that.
- 29:45But if you start looking at Mists of Pandaria and Warlords
- 29:48and Legion were were at Legion right now.
- 29:51Too short of a time frame, that's true.
- 29:53Yeah, you'd kind of be chronicling and rehashing things
- 29:56that have happened in the last couple years, so yes, I can get
- 30:00a bit Warlords. Yeah.
- 30:01I think I think everyone including blizzard wants to
- 30:03forget about Warlords but but yeah.
- 30:06So I'm excited. That Chronicle volume 3 is
- 30:09coming. They're kind of like getting
- 30:11into all the good stuff. It's going to be covering the
- 30:14kind of third War. I believe in through arthas and
- 30:18we even get some more insight. Right into arthas's kind of
- 30:22motivations which is really interesting because there's
- 30:25already been a whole arthas novel, but we're getting even
- 30:28more information through this Warcraft Chronicle, and then
- 30:31it's going all the way through Wrath of the Lich King into
- 30:35cataclysm. So I'm looking forward to
- 30:37reading it. I always loved the art and these
- 30:39books and they make great conversation pieces.
- 30:41So if you haven't pre-ordered it, then it is available for
- 30:44pre-order on Amazon right now and comes out next week.
- 30:47So I hope you guys jump in and get those because they're going
- 30:50to help. Follow along with our lure
- 30:52segments, which are back this week.
- 30:54We are going to cover vol'jin part 1.
- 30:57So basically, I started doing all the lore for vol'jin.
- 31:01I've wanted to cover him for a very long time, I love the
- 31:04trolls and the idea of, you know, everything that's happened
- 31:09with the zandalari trolls, coming to be an Allied race in
- 31:11battle for Azeroth. It felt like a really good time
- 31:13to dive into our favorite troll, Warchief.
- 31:16He was our only troll war chief, but that's okay.
- 31:20I thought it It'd be a great time to talk about him and I got
- 31:23into as I dove into the lore and kind of found all the stories
- 31:27that have been told about vol'jin in the game and in the
- 31:30books. Very rapidly became clear that
- 31:33it was going to be too much for one episode.
- 31:35So we split it into two parts. So today we're going to cover
- 31:38the early life of vol'jin cover. The darkspear.
- 31:41A little bit through the rise of the zandalari.
- 31:43And then we're going to end with his role in the bombing of
- 31:47theramore. So, next week, we will cover all
- 31:50of The stuff with overthrowing garage and the rebellion and his
- 31:54kind of time as war chief. But yeah.
- 31:58So this week we're going to look at early life of Olden.
- 32:01So Manny why don't you take it away?
- 32:04Thanks. So in the early life of Belgian
- 32:06Bolton was the sun and the former Apprentice of jungle
- 32:09troll which doctors engine and he was the leader of the Exile,
- 32:13darkspear trolls that lived on the remote island off the coast.
- 32:17Now what's really cool about this engine and The trolls is
- 32:21that they had the totems, which became synonymous with shamans
- 32:26in Warcraft, 3, and they're very much defining.
- 32:29What The Horde is to this day. When you talk about them, he was
- 32:33tested by the lower become a Shadowhunter along with his best
- 32:37friend zalazane and that's crazy because zalazane became such a
- 32:42adversarial figure that you forget that they were best
- 32:45friends at the beginning. Exactly.
- 32:47And that was actually one of the parts of his Test by the lower.
- 32:51They were both granted visions and neither one of them could
- 32:54really believe that the visions of them fighting to the death.
- 32:57We're actually true. They went away for like three
- 33:00months and when they came back they found out that his dad had
- 33:03perished and that a lot of the tribe had perished because of
- 33:07raids from the alliance and the nagas.
- 33:08So, vol'jin comes back and he had to take control become the
- 33:12chief Shadowhunter and then let the trolls and exodus out of the
- 33:17islands over to send Jen Village.
- 33:19Well, what is now a scent and Village and was all with the
- 33:22help of thrall which was it kind of a huge story point because
- 33:25that's how vol'jin ended up pledging.
- 33:28His people pledging, the darkspear trolls specifically to
- 33:31The Horde was because thrall helped him kind of escape from
- 33:35the, the alliance in the Naga. Exactly.
- 33:39They left the echo Islands, but as soon as they settled on the
- 33:43mainland, they were attacked by Grand Admiral.
- 33:45Daylan proudmoore Jana's Father, which is now becoming relevant
- 33:50as we head into BFA and he was only able to repel the attacks
- 33:54with the aid of R xr0 Khan who is the current troll leader and
- 34:01they had help from Chen storm Stout who was relevant in
- 34:07Pandaria. Shh.
- 34:08So he continued to counsel. The Horde Rex are in particular,
- 34:12was instrumental in bringing the Turin Into The Horde and to stop
- 34:16the human invasion of durotar when the invasion was defeated
- 34:19boljan. LED his people back to the echo
- 34:21Islands but he then came against zalazane who had started
- 34:28enslaving his people with the voodoo that the controls all
- 34:31hate so much. Stay away from do Voodoo.
- 34:35I'm sorry. Rather than like let his tribe
- 34:40get hexed and fallen into that dark magic.
- 34:44They again left the echo Island to sentient Village on the
- 34:48mainland and four years. At the beginning of Warcraft
- 34:52there was Sal has a non the islands and nobody could defeat
- 34:55him while full Jin was in Orgrimmar.
- 34:59Advising thrall, right? And then, so, over those time,
- 35:02like, over those kind of years, there were many, many attempts,
- 35:04to reclaim the islands, but eventually voltage.
- 35:07In return to launch one final assault from Sinjin Village.
- 35:11So with the aid of The Horde adventurers, which is us the
- 35:14players vol'jin was able to recruit other Witch, Doctors,
- 35:17including Zinta bruh, who actually becomes relevant in the
- 35:21Druid storyline and Legion. So in the class Hall she becomes
- 35:24actually one of your very first followers and I'm sure that
- 35:28probably eventually we will go into a little bit more of her
- 35:32history unless we did already because we did Cover the true
- 35:34class Hall. But basically she It off as a
- 35:39witch doctor with the dark spheres.
- 35:41But then through this assault against zalazane, she was kind
- 35:46of converted over to druidism by one of the Louis.
- 35:49Oh, she has a really interesting back story where she kind of
- 35:52like transitions from one role to another, but that all
- 35:55happened during the assault, on the echo Isles.
- 35:59So the witch doctors realize that they'd been losing power
- 36:02because zalazane had been cutting them off from their
- 36:04access to the lower. That's the lower are basically.
- 36:07The the troll word for the wild Gods.
- 36:11So the trolls basically draw a lot of their power when they
- 36:16like as witch doctors and Shadowhunters from communing
- 36:18with these wild gods that they call the Lois, oh, being cut off
- 36:22from their source of power was obviously something that they
- 36:25had to stop. So Bolton was told by his Witch,
- 36:29Doctors to make amends to the dark Spears.
- 36:32Low a patron who is one slum D and together.
- 36:36They formed a plan, so Vol'jin. And what 150?
- 36:40I'm gonna totally butcher this name for the entire podcast
- 36:43because he comes up a lot. But basically is a powerful
- 36:47Lowa, the controls the spirits of the dead and he grows more
- 36:51and more powerful. The more souls are in his care
- 36:53and the part of his kind of lure that I find super interesting
- 36:57and I feel like is going to become relevant in battle for as
- 36:59Iraq. Is that when someone undergoes
- 37:02the ritual of binding, all the souls of anything, they kill go
- 37:06to blonds Sam D. There we go.
- 37:11Get it eventually. So, Sunday.
- 37:14Thank you. So, vol'jin forces assaulted,
- 37:18the first of the echo Islands, prove their worth and then buang
- 37:22damdi. Granted them the support of his
- 37:25Spirit Warriors and that he controlled to take the second
- 37:28Island at that point in time, vol'jin came face to face this
- 37:32former friend, and after a brutal battle, vol'jin offered
- 37:35his friend a chance to surrender.
- 37:37But Zach Zane revealed. Well, then why didn't you just
- 37:40murder him? He's too nice.
- 37:43But that wasn't then revealed that through the use of dark
- 37:46magic, he taken control of the darkspear forces who began a,
- 37:50who began attacking the rest of the horde forces.
- 37:53So, basically like drawing all of the horde forces away from
- 37:57zalazane himself as a kind of trap and distraction.
- 38:01So then vol'jin in The Horde, we're actually able to subdue
- 38:04and the entrants darkspear only to find that.
- 38:07Zalazane head kind of created a protective barrier behind that
- 38:12he could, you know, hide behind that no living thing could
- 38:15cross. So he was all like, taunting
- 38:17them saying that. Yeah, the can't get me haha.
- 38:20But then out of nowhere, blond Sam, D, raised the Dead behind
- 38:27the barrier to kill zalazane, which was all witnessed by
- 38:30vol'jin. And it allowed the darkspear to
- 38:32take full control of the echo islands and broke all of the
- 38:36curse on The on the entrants darkspear.
- 38:39So vol'jin had his home back, his people back and then we get
- 38:46into the Lich King and the rise of the zandalari.
- 38:51Yes. So after they let Kings defeat
- 38:54garage was a war hero and he was named the new Warchief of The
- 39:00Horde while thrall left to deal with the cataclysm itself and
- 39:05the turmoil and the elemental forces that Happened before
- 39:08that. Bulge in became alienated from
- 39:12grosh and in-game. There was many different, like,
- 39:15cutscenes that you'll see even in a troll area where they are
- 39:18at odds with each other. Because garage had an extremism
- 39:22a loss, or he really was the war hero.
- 39:24And so he rallied people behind him that way, right?
- 39:27He kind of like once the Lich King was defeated, he came back
- 39:30and was like, the thing I know how to do is fight and right
- 39:33now, we don't have a fight. So I'm going to go pick one
- 39:36basically and that was his entire Thing, just rapid
- 39:39expansion, is MM, and like, fighting on all front.
- 39:42At the same time, the trolls became assaulted by the spite
- 39:46scale Naga led by Tsar dark? Yeah, I'm gonna pass out that
- 39:51name right sometime. But not today, the NACA see what
- 39:56you was responsible for sentence death.
- 39:57His father's death. So using the power that sprung
- 40:01from her, when she died, Elgin, contacted thrall for his counsel
- 40:06and ultimately chose to stay loyal to The Horde.
- 40:08Instead of defecting it's really interesting to fight like to
- 40:13realize like how early vol'jin was kind of thinking of pulling
- 40:17the darkspear from The Horde and, you know, not falling
- 40:20Garrosh. Like it happened fairly quickly.
- 40:22It, I mean, we're going to talk about it next week, but
- 40:26obviously vol'jin was the one who led the Rebellion against
- 40:29garage eventually but that was like, literally two expansions
- 40:32later when he finally said, okay, fine, I'm I've had enough
- 40:38Yeah, they were definitely setting the stage for vol'jin to
- 40:41come to power quite early and just setting those different
- 40:45pieces of the entire horde fracturing.
- 40:49And so this was where it's began.
- 40:53So shortly afterwards, all the leader of the zandalari called a
- 40:57meeting for all the troll races which bulge in a attended along
- 41:01with representatives from the gurubashi Imani and the ice
- 41:04trolls. This was the meeting where all
- 41:06the trolls said. Okay, yeah.
- 41:07We're And when you but because of its loyalty bulge in refused,
- 41:13he was promised glory and bringing the troll Empire back
- 41:18to it's like former self but he said no I'm with the horde I am
- 41:23loyal. They were there for me and he
- 41:26stuck and gave emissaries to the lights and the horde telling
- 41:30them of the new threat that was coming up there.
- 41:33So he personally led the assault against Solomon along with the
- 41:37ranger general of The moon Alderaan brightwing and Teresa
- 41:40windrunner. Yeah.
- 41:42So I find this part of his story really interesting because, I
- 41:45mean, the trolls as a race have always had kind of conflicts
- 41:50with the elves. So the fact that, you know, he
- 41:53was willing to set all that stuff aside as well as, you
- 41:56know, just setting aside the alliance and horde history of
- 42:00conflict. And just to say like the troll
- 42:02threat is real Everett like everyone except the dark Spears
- 42:06is coming for you. You know even again this is
- 42:09another point of contention between him and Garrosh because
- 42:12he did warn the alliance as opposed to you know just
- 42:15protecting The Horde and warning them about the troll threat and
- 42:19letting the trolls take care of the alliance.
- 42:21So we see like you said very early on all of the stage being
- 42:25set for not only vol'jin playing well with the races and factions
- 42:31that he didn't normally but also like just the again Strife
- 42:35between him and Garrosh when he kind of came back and dealt with
- 42:39all of the troll threat. This is when we really start to
- 42:42see the escalation of the conflict between the alliance
- 42:45and The Horde. So vol'jin was very, very vocal
- 42:50about not attacking theramore because when Garrosh first
- 42:53proposed the plan he said it was a way to push the alliance out
- 42:57of kalimdor and you know, to that end destroying theramore
- 43:00destroying their kind of base of operations would be the way to
- 43:03get rid of the night elves who were kind of right on Orga Mars
- 43:06doorstep. And vol'jin basically just said,
- 43:10dude, like the elves have been in kalimdor way longer than the
- 43:13arcs, like you guys just got here.
- 43:16So if you did attack, there are more it.
- 43:19If you did, try to remove the night elves from kalimdor, it
- 43:22would be all the alliance would need to justify an all-out War.
- 43:26So Garrosh, obviously what he wanted all at War.
- 43:29So this, you know, volkens Council meant nothing to him so
- 43:33vol'jin, and Bane came together briefly after this meeting.
- 43:36And basically, discussed the The, the dislike of the
- 43:39direction, The Horde was going. And so, when all of this stuff
- 43:41is happening, this is like leading into or like, this is
- 43:45all the the just before Pandaria, like, timeline is what
- 43:49we're talking. So vol'jin and Bane, who were
- 43:53responsible for the attack on nightwatch, hold as an ordered
- 43:56by Garrosh. Basically drove out all the
- 43:58human forces there. So the horde had kind of
- 44:01attacked North watch. Hold on, their way, to going to
- 44:05attack. There are more and drive
- 44:06everybody out because garage I ordered like that was his
- 44:09orders. That's what he wanted to do, or
- 44:11be damned. So once they actually defeated
- 44:14everyone at night, watch North watch hold sorry, they became
- 44:18super confused because Garrosh decided that he didn't want to
- 44:21push the attack to theramore. So again, vol'jin and Bane among
- 44:26some other kind of leaders and representatives of The Horde.
- 44:29So Sylvanas, had a representative there, as well as
- 44:32a representative for the Goblins.
- 44:34They had a secret meeting to discuss the war chief and his
- 44:37strategy. Then eventually were betrayed to
- 44:39Garrosh by the goblin. So I can't remember the name of
- 44:43the goblin at this time. But basically, what happened is
- 44:46the goblin ran to Garrosh, told them the meeting was happening.
- 44:49So garish overheard, everything? And just as vol'jin was, voicing
- 44:52his concern that the enslaved Elementals that they'd use to
- 44:55help. Take North watch hold.
- 44:57We're going to cause the elements to turn against The
- 44:59Horde completely and that's when Garrosh entered the meeting and
- 45:03reminded them of their loyalty to The Horde and surprisingly
- 45:08Lee was lenient on them and didn't actually kind of punish
- 45:12any of them aside from striking, one of the Turin who actually
- 45:16challenged him directly to his face.
- 45:18And so, he kind of just said, all right, your loyalty belongs
- 45:22to The Horde. I'm gonna let you in on the
- 45:24plan. So, vol'jin and Bane again, went
- 45:27and met with Garrosh where garish told them to withdraw all
- 45:30their fleets from theramore, completely and just leave behind
- 45:33their ground troops. And so, Bane was at this point
- 45:37started, To get really upset because he knew that without the
- 45:41fleet without the support from the water that they were going
- 45:44to lose the battle. And so he basically stalked out
- 45:47just saying, you know, I hope there's even a horde left when
- 45:51we're done this whole debacle and then Garrosh bursts out
- 45:53laughing along with his bodyguard malkorok.
- 45:56So at this point vol'jin and Bane kind of started to know
- 45:59that something might be a myth. So, eventually Garrosh began the
- 46:04assault on theramore, but it was with ground forces, only led by
- 46:08himself vol'jin and Bane, and the attacks on the gates, proved
- 46:12for you tile, for the most part other than, and this is mostly
- 46:16due to a dragon who was defending theramore, which
- 46:18actually turned out to be kalecgos.
- 46:20He's totally Dana's boyfriend although maybe not anymore.
- 46:24They haven't really been clear on that.
- 46:27Don't think anymore. Yeah, I do I think they kind of
- 46:30like were together but then, Like not together, but then kind
- 46:33of together again. But now Jane has, you know,
- 46:35doing Jana things wherever she ended up.
- 46:37So, I don't actually know if that's still a thing because
- 46:41kalecgos, definitely stayed in Dollar on, for the entirety of
- 46:44Legion. So, but yeah, he was kalecgos
- 46:47was actually the dragon defending theramore.
- 46:49So once vol'jin realized that they had a dragon helping to
- 46:53defend the city and that if they weren't careful, their forces
- 46:56were going to become trapped between the dragons fire and the
- 47:00gates. And then just They slaughtered
- 47:02vol'jin went to Garrosh. And then Garrosh, agreed, and
- 47:06ordered all the horde forces, to pull back.
- 47:09When the horde forces did pull back.
- 47:11That's when Garrosh revealed his true plan to vol'jin that the
- 47:15ground assault was done, just to draw a lioness leaders to
- 47:18theramore. That's when vol'jin and beIN
- 47:21watched in horror and disgust as the Mana bomb was dropped and
- 47:24the City was destroyed. So I think we've covered this in
- 47:28the Jana lore episode that we did a while back but Basically,
- 47:32yeah, the plan to drop the Mana bomb from a horde perspective
- 47:36was not something. Anyone was aware of outside of
- 47:39Garrosh and his Corcoran because Garrosh didn't actually want the
- 47:42plan to get back to the alliance.
- 47:44He wanted to do as much damage as he could.
- 47:46Obviously, I believe that had they known it was going to
- 47:48happen both vol'jin and Bane would have broken ranks with the
- 47:52horde and notify, the alliance, I don't know.
- 47:54What do you feel about that? Do you think that that would
- 47:56have been a thing knowing that vol'jin has been so loyal to The
- 47:59Horde? Do you think at this point had a
- 48:01On the bottom was going to drop that, he would have told Jana.
- 48:04Somehow you've definitely would have crossed lines to get them
- 48:09to escape and save all those lives.
- 48:12Like it's not honorable and troll.
- 48:15Honor isn't something that's brought up much, but boljan
- 48:18always acts with a moral compass and he wouldn't do that.
- 48:22Definitely, so, as Garrosh was celebrating back in Orgrimmar
- 48:26vol'jin, and Bane retreated to raise your heel to discuss, what
- 48:29should be done with the Warchief and shortly.
- 48:31After they Left, the Corcoran blew up the in and all those
- 48:34inside the ones left inside of vol'jin, and Bane were gone at
- 48:39that point, but there were Sylvanas has Emissary along with
- 48:44a couple of high-ranking. Turin were were killed at the
- 48:47Inn at razor. He'll basically the Corcoran
- 48:50were attempting. The Corcoran were the WarChiefs,
- 48:53kind of guard. So they were attempting to
- 48:56remove the threat against Garrosh.
- 48:58This is when Garrosh reveals to everyone that he intended to
- 49:00wage a war. Total genocide and annihilate
- 49:04the alliance once and for all Bane objects to this and so does
- 49:08vol'jin. But because his trolls basically
- 49:11reside in and around ogre, Mar he remained silent in order to
- 49:15protect his people, that's where we're going to leave it this
- 49:18week with the idea of Garrosh waging total war against the
- 49:22alliance. This is where we kind of push
- 49:24into Pandaria, and we're going to get some more zandalari story
- 49:27tomorrow, as well as the story of the rib is not tomorrow.
- 49:30So I next week, as As well as the story of the rebellion and
- 49:34the story of vol'jin as a war chief.
- 49:37And then we'll give you our final thoughts on him as a
- 49:39character. Again, that'll be an episode 36.
- 49:42So, yeah, that was, that was really fun.
- 49:43I miss doing lure. It's amazing.
- 49:46Be part of it. Instead of just hearing it on
- 49:48the, on the cast. I'm glad you enjoyed it
- 49:52sometimes. Like it takes a little bit of
- 49:54like getting used to, to get into just like the storytelling
- 49:57of it all, but I think it's really fun and I look forward to
- 50:00doing these these segments. Every week that brings us to our
- 50:03new segment, which is our community resources and add-ons
- 50:06segment. So this is, this was actually
- 50:08Manny's idea to add to the podcast.
- 50:10So what we've decided to do is bring you something new every
- 50:14week, whether it is a website or an add-on or something that you
- 50:18can use in World of Warcraft to kind of enhance your experience.
- 50:22So if you have a recommendation for an add-on that you'd like us
- 50:25to cover on the show, please do let us know.
- 50:27You can email Faz podcast at gmail.com or you can tweet us at
- 50:31Faz. Podcast this week we are going
- 50:33to cover all the things which was sent in by Vic baldry.
- 50:36So thank you so much for the suggestion over on Twitter.
- 50:39Basically all the things is like a collection Helper but it
- 50:43actually uses the item database to list everything available in
- 50:47a given zone. So it's not using your kind of,
- 50:51it's not using Warcraft as a game to actually do anything,
- 50:55which is why it's able to give you, it's able to track your
- 50:59appearances, your Illusions, your mouths, your pets, your
- 51:01toys. Music rolls and titles, as well
- 51:03as Quest. All-in-one add-on without
- 51:06slowing down your without slowing down your game.
- 51:09So I thought this was definitely worth kind of going over because
- 51:13for me, personally, I'm at the point in the expansion are re
- 51:17team is cleared all the heroic content kind of slowing down for
- 51:20me. Usually this time I mentioned
- 51:24earlier, this is the time that I kind of go into PVP mode, but
- 51:28it's also the time that I kind of try to fill out all all the
- 51:32stuff that I missed and all the things is a great way to do that
- 51:36because it shows you like, literally everything you can
- 51:39collect in the game, although it makes me a little bit sad
- 51:41sometimes because it's all color coded.
- 51:44So, it starts off as read when you have like, zero of the items
- 51:47and then moves up through like, orange, yellow, into green when
- 51:51you've collect. And I think it's blue when
- 51:52you've collected everything and yeah, most, most of my zones are
- 51:56red. You must have a whole totally
- 51:59different experience with this add-on, though.
- 52:01Because obviously, you've been playing a lot longer than me.
- 52:04So did you have a chance to actually take a look at all the
- 52:07things I've given it a cursory glance.
- 52:09I've looked at it. I do have like a bunch of
- 52:12questions about it. It really seems something that
- 52:15could be helpful for me because like you near the end of
- 52:18expansion when things are slowing down, I go into the
- 52:21achievement junkie mode. I go through and I collect toys
- 52:25and different transmog, sat all of that, and this seems like the
- 52:29perfect add-on for it. Yeah.
- 52:31It's actually really interesting because some of the things
- 52:33where, you know you have to do if they're like achievement
- 52:37based sometimes or if there's like specific steps to summon
- 52:40like a secret boss, say usually what it what will happen is they
- 52:43have like really, really detailed tooltip.
- 52:46So when you hover over and you can turn all of this on and off
- 52:49there, so many different options in the add-on, but you can,
- 52:53it'll show you, it'll give you like a little model viewer, so,
- 52:56you know what you're looking for.
- 52:57If it's like a Companion Pet, or a boss or something, and if
- 53:01there are Extra kind of steps then they'll show in the
- 53:04tooltip. So when you hover over it, it'll
- 53:06say like, okay run to the final boss in gnomeregan.
- 53:09Defeat him, go around the corner, look on your left,
- 53:12there's a red button. Push it that will summon the
- 53:14next boss. And, you know, like so there's
- 53:17kind of Step by steps for the ones that are a little bit, less
- 53:20obvious. It also shows you when you hover
- 53:23over things, when you're looting or when you're at a vendor or
- 53:27looking in your bags or whatever, well, obviously the
- 53:29new bags, you've collected it. But when you Look at the tooltip
- 53:32in the top right corner. There's a big like green check
- 53:35mark and it says collected if you've already got it in your
- 53:37collection, otherwise there's a big red X to say, not collected,
- 53:41which means that it basically tells you what things you still
- 53:45need to buy and what things you've already got in your
- 53:47collections. So it saves you from, you know,
- 53:51having to spend a lot of time, researching in your collections
- 53:54or possibly buying duplicate items.
- 53:56And it's also tracking things across all of your different
- 54:00characters. So, If you've collected a mount
- 54:03or an achievement, or a pet or something, on a different
- 54:05character, it'll show as collected in all the things
- 54:08which is glorious because before this I used to just have Wowhead
- 54:13or different database on one screen and then be looking at
- 54:17the comments to see how do I do this then, go over to YouTube to
- 54:20see the video and now, it's like right on my screen.
- 54:24Exactly. There's, there's so much
- 54:26information that's been compiled into this add-on.
- 54:29They also have a really, really active Discord.
- 54:31Andy that you can go to for support if you need it if
- 54:34something's not working or just if you have questions then.
- 54:38Yeah they have they have a really active Discord community
- 54:41and they're constantly like adding more things to the
- 54:43add-on. It's one of the often updated
- 54:46add-ons. I have I think almost every time
- 54:48because I log in at least once a week to the the Twitch app, that
- 54:52was the curse app and to make sure all my add-ons are
- 54:54up-to-date. And usually once every two
- 54:59weeks, it's getting an update which Really interesting.
- 55:02And it's again, adding these things, like these detailed
- 55:04tooltips and stuff and always like, giving more and more
- 55:08information to the community, what else we owe?
- 55:12The other thing that I wanted to mention, we've got some tips and
- 55:14tricks for you when you're going to use these add-ons.
- 55:16And so, for all the things, there is one little check box
- 55:20that shows in your settings in complete quests.
- 55:24And what that does is it will actually show you all the rares
- 55:27and World bosses as well. Even though technically, it's
- 55:30not like I can go And collect a world boss and put them in my
- 55:33inventory. But if you check the incomplete
- 55:37Quest box, it'll track it. And say, like, yes you've killed
- 55:39it or no, you haven't killed it, which is really, really helpful.
- 55:42Again, Manny when you're looking for achievements, there's often
- 55:45a achievements tied to killing all the world bosses, or killing
- 55:48all the rares in his own and stuff like that.
- 55:49So, underneath the incomplete Quest, there's also a checkbox
- 55:53that says treat as collectible, and what that does is it takes
- 55:58your non daily Quest. So think of like any of the
- 56:01questions. You did for like leveling and
- 56:03lore and all that kind of stuff. All of your yellow exclamation
- 56:06marks. Those non daily quests will be
- 56:08tracked and that's going to help you complete your loremaster
- 56:11achievement, which is amazing. And, like, the other thing that
- 56:14can really use with this, especially in Legion, is if
- 56:18you're hunting down, all these rares that is more chance for
- 56:21you to get a nice legendary, if you're trying to round out your
- 56:24Legendary Collection, or you just need one for that challenge
- 56:27mode, that you haven't beaten yet.
- 56:28Yeah, this is a great way to keep track of all of that.
- 56:31Also, So there is basically what happens is when you have the
- 56:35auto mini list option checked. Every time you go into a Zone,
- 56:39it's going to pop up the little list.
- 56:42So there's a different list for every Zone that will list
- 56:44everything that you need to collect their.
- 56:45So, all the appearances sold by vendors, all of the mounts and
- 56:49pets and everything else, it will pop up every time you
- 56:52change Zone. If you don't want that to
- 56:54happen, you can actually uncheck the auto mini list option.
- 56:58And instead, there's a macro that we're going to put in the
- 57:01show notes. That you can use and you can
- 57:03just hit that macro when you want to pop up the window for
- 57:06your current Zone when you're out collecting things.
- 57:08So you can have this add-on again, it's really, really light
- 57:11so you can have it running all the time and you don't have to
- 57:13worry about it, like clogging up and slowing down your game, but
- 57:17if you decide like you want to go run a dungeon with friends
- 57:20and you don't want your ad on there.
- 57:22But then once you're done, you want to go and make sure you've
- 57:25killed all the rares in high mountain.
- 57:27Then you can just boom, hit your macro button and it'll pull up a
- 57:29little window, so we'll put that script in.
- 57:31Into the show notes, so you guys can grab it.
- 57:33If you want to give all the things a try many.
- 57:36Did you have any other things that you wanted to add about all
- 57:38the things or questions that you wanted to ask on behalf of our
- 57:41viewers? Well, I think we've covered all
- 57:43the things I love it. I was thinking of things that
- 57:54phase in and out of zones, like rare spots that may or may not
- 57:57be there time. Lost Proto Jake being my greed
- 58:00Bane. Will it will it know if it's
- 58:04there in a zone or not? No.
- 58:06So it doesn't have a built-in because I think what you're
- 58:08thinking of is something along the lines of like NPC scan that
- 58:12will actually like scan a certain area around your
- 58:15character and then tell you if it actually picks up an NPC tag
- 58:19or not, so it doesn't do that. It will just show you that you
- 58:23haven't yet. Got the time loss, Proto Drake
- 58:25when you enter storm peaks, unfortunately.
- 58:28But what it will do is like I said it.
- 58:31Does have the really detailed tooltips.
- 58:33So, when you hover over any of the tool tips for your mounts,
- 58:37or like you said, you mentioned a seasonal pets as well.
- 58:40If you hover over it, it will say like only available from
- 58:44this month to this month or, you know, something like that or
- 58:47Curie otic lease ponds around the Zone.
- 58:50Sometimes I found they even have links to potential maps showing
- 58:54spawn points and stuff. So it is, there's a lot of
- 58:58information in the tool and its really nice to have it handy.
- 59:01Kind of like, right at your fingertips, when you're going
- 59:04around collecting things, at the end of an expansion.
- 59:06Oh, it's awesome. It's a great.
- 59:09At least, it's a great starting point to find everything that I
- 59:12would need. And the fact that it is, so
- 59:15supported means that I can use it or a long time to come.
- 59:20Exactly. So again if you guys want to
- 59:22send in any of the Community Resources or add-ons you would
- 59:25like us to cover on the show then you can do.
- 59:28So by either tweeting us at Faz podcast or emailing us at Faz
- 59:31podcast, at gmail.com, speaking of our email address, you can
- 59:35send all of your questions over too fast podcast at gmail.com.
- 59:39We have won this week that actually came from.
- 59:41Before we went on Hiatus, this one is from milk and eggs.
- 59:44He says, hey guys, I love the podcast.
- 59:46I've actually been binging them for the last few weeks,
- 59:48listening to the class, all the class.
- 59:50All Quest. I've enjoyed listening to you
- 59:52guys go over them. However, I think there's one
- 59:54thing that needs to be mentioned.
- 59:56I've been a lover Of Orcs ever since Warcraft 2 and 3.
- 59:58I'm sad to hear you guys rag on Orgrimmar constantly on your
- 1:00:01stream when the update to the city made me so happy.
- 1:00:04It really double down on the orc feel of the orc capital city.
- 1:00:07I say that with emphasis because I don't hear anyone complaining
- 1:00:10that Stormwind. Basically, only has a human
- 1:00:13aesthetic to it. Love your podcast, but I really
- 1:00:15wanted to get at least one or two defensive voice out there so
- 1:00:17you guys can see it from a different perspective.
- 1:00:19Loked are Mogar. This email made me laugh.
- 1:00:22A little bit just because we get so much crap from people saying
- 1:00:26that we're like, so down on the alliance all the time.
- 1:00:30So to hear somebody say we're also so death on the Orcs, just
- 1:00:34made me laugh. You can't please everybody but I
- 1:00:36think so this came from again with my previous co-host Garrett
- 1:00:41and his love of just kind of castles and fantasy Aesthetics
- 1:00:46along the lines of the blood elves or night owls.
- 1:00:49I guess even. So I think his kind of Point
- 1:00:53around ogre, Marv was just that, you know, it's very it didn't
- 1:00:56fit his personal aesthetic that he really liked.
- 1:00:59I'm less like I think okra Mar is fine.
- 1:01:02I have I feel less strongly about Orgrimmar.
- 1:01:05I just wish that Silver Moon wasn't so dead.
- 1:01:08I wish there was a reason to go to the blood elf City because I
- 1:01:12love the blood elf aesthetic. But again, it all just really
- 1:01:15comes down to personal choice. I didn't see okra Mar and this
- 1:01:19is why I put this This email in here is Manny, I really wanted
- 1:01:21your thoughts on this because I didn't see ogum are free, I
- 1:01:25guess update. So do you have some kind of
- 1:01:28insight on what Orgrimmar looked like before and after from what
- 1:01:31I understand it's much more like metal now as opposed to like
- 1:01:35would it very much is what organ are used to look like was stones
- 1:01:42and wood and mud Huts a lot of the buildings were actually on
- 1:01:47an unlevel playing and half into the Tens.
- 1:01:50And such and it was very low res because it's the vanilla assets,
- 1:01:56right? What they did in the cataclysm,
- 1:02:00after the Elementals did rebelled Against The Horde and
- 1:02:04burned down Orgrimmar was that they rebuilt it in the same
- 1:02:08style that they hit introduced in Wrath of the Lich King with
- 1:02:11that very metal spiked. Look, that is also somewhat
- 1:02:18aligned with Garrosh. R is a beautiful city.
- 1:02:22I know that Garrett eights Orcs or gemara is is very much The
- 1:02:29Horde City because it is so Metropolitan.
- 1:02:33You have the goblin section, the government's lumps, you have the
- 1:02:37trolls thicker down. Yeah.
- 1:02:39And the Goblins are actually gone or not necessarily gone but
- 1:02:41their whole like slum and like pit is just gone now because
- 1:02:45they built a building over top of it to be like the the Allied
- 1:02:49races. Hub.
- 1:02:50So now there's just a building over what used to be their big
- 1:02:53Slime Pit. Yeah yeah mystery and yes, the
- 1:02:57city got gentrified a bit but I'm not going to hate on him for
- 1:03:00it. Um, honestly, you look
- 1:03:04throughout that City he and it is top.
- 1:03:08If you want to look at a current part of the city that looks
- 1:03:12like, what it used to be go along the drag, those places are
- 1:03:16still much the stone and wood that it used to.
- 1:03:20To be. So if you want a reference look
- 1:03:23at those places. Hmm.
- 1:03:25So it's more like grommets hold. That really got the update and
- 1:03:28that whole valley of strength kind of area.
- 1:03:31Exactly that and they moved the main building from the honor.
- 1:03:37The valley of Honor over to the valley of strength which was
- 1:03:41also telling of how garage fled versus how thrall LED.
- 1:03:45Yeah, that makes sense. That's really interesting
- 1:03:48because again, like I I've only ever seen this current iteration
- 1:03:51of Orgrimmar. So again, I don't hate the Orca
- 1:03:55stetic and I do. Like how Orgrimmar is made up of
- 1:03:59so many different races. Like there's a very distinct
- 1:04:02presence of the Turin and the trolls and the Goblins, I would
- 1:04:06say even the Pandaren have their own little section in the valley
- 1:04:10of Honor. It's probably the blood elves
- 1:04:12that are the least represented in Orgrimmar as a race.
- 1:04:17And that's probably why like, I wish that there was just
- 1:04:20something there that made me as a blood Health, feel a little
- 1:04:24bit more at home. I guess the undead as well, kind
- 1:04:27of like the Eastern kingdoms aren't very well represented
- 1:04:30over an ogre. Mar, but maybe that'll change in
- 1:04:32battle for Azeroth says, we're kind of losing our foothold in
- 1:04:35the Eastern kingdoms. So there's going to be a lot of
- 1:04:37refugees from over there. We'll have to see how that all
- 1:04:39plays out, but I was surprised when Sylvanas became more chief.
- 1:04:42That there wasn't a little bit of an update to Orgrimmar to
- 1:04:45kind of increase the undead. But I guess she was often storm
- 1:04:49him for a lot of it but yeah, so I think overall the Orgrimmar
- 1:04:54aesthetic like we don't hate Orcs, we like Orcs that works
- 1:04:57for fine. I love that.
- 1:04:58The Horde is made up of a whole bunch of it's a reason I like
- 1:05:01The Horde at all is because it's made up of a whole bunch of
- 1:05:04different races who managed to retain their uniqueness while
- 1:05:08still being a part of something greater.
- 1:05:10I think the fact that Stormwind only has a human aesthetic to
- 1:05:12it, at least from the parts that I've seen.
- 1:05:15I think that's very telling of what the alliance This is like,
- 1:05:17I find that the alliance is very intolerant of anyone who's
- 1:05:20different, which is why I don't like the alliance at all as a
- 1:05:23faction. No offense Alliance players.
- 1:05:26Listening to the sound of my voice, sorry, but I do find that
- 1:05:31The Horde is more welcoming and celebrates the differences
- 1:05:35between the races. I think that's why I like it as
- 1:05:37a faction. So, yeah, I like the Orgrimmar
- 1:05:40aesthetic and I'm sorry if it came across as if I didn't.
- 1:05:45I think it's very telling that before certain updates, the
- 1:05:50capital for the alliance was mostly iron-forged that used to
- 1:05:55be the de facto place to be not Stormwind.
- 1:05:57They had to do a lot of updates to Stormwind even before the
- 1:06:00cataclysm before people moved over there.
- 1:06:03Interesting. I didn't know that again as not
- 1:06:06an alliance player, I didn't know that so and yeah.
- 1:06:10So Stormwind got a update. When was it was At in cataclysm
- 1:06:15when Stormwind, got the update, to all of the major cities, got
- 1:06:18updates and cataclysm to make them actually flyable Orgrimmar
- 1:06:24and Stormwind. Used to be very much like
- 1:06:28Silver. Moon is where it's propped up to
- 1:06:30D and they rearranged it Under city was always built the way it
- 1:06:35is because you travel down into it.
- 1:06:38So it was always a navigable area.
- 1:06:44So it didn't get an update in which it which is the reason
- 1:06:46that it's so old. Mmm.
- 1:06:49Well, I'm sure it's going to get an update before battle for
- 1:06:51Azeroth. I think we can pretty much count
- 1:06:54on that one. There will be changes for sure.
