Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: This production is brought to you by the Recess Bell.
- 0:07Speaker 1: By the way, LeBron James, since we had NBA Media
- 0:10Speaker 1: Day this past Monday, LeBron James is confirmed taking a
- 0:12Speaker 1: helicopter to travel from Philadelphia to New York City where
- 0:17Speaker 1: he's going to live. He's not going to live in
- 0:19Speaker 1: Philly despite him playing in Philly for the Sixers. He's
- 0:23Speaker 1: going to travel by helicopter. And all the comments I
- 0:26Speaker 1: saw on social media was like, Oh, Lord. Not the
- 0:30Speaker 1: helicopter again.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You're missing one of the most important subjects from that
- 0:33Speaker 2: media day. LeBron has finally come home. He's finally come home.
- 0:38Speaker 2: No more dives. No more enhancement. No more wigs.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Straight balled.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I was happy to see that. But he played the
- 0:46Speaker 1: game right. You feel me? I feel like he had
- 0:50Speaker 1: to get the enhancements and he might have had a
- 0:52Speaker 1: trip to Turkey or two and he got the spray
- 0:54Speaker 1: can stuff going on. But now that he's deep into his,
- 0:58Speaker 1: not deep into his 40s, but he's a good amount
- 1:01Speaker 1: into his 40s now. And being bald is more socially acceptable.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You know, this guy was allegedly balding at 27. But,
- 1:09Speaker 1: you know, he got in his bag. And now that
- 1:11Speaker 1: it's more acceptable at 40, he's letting it go. I'm
- 1:14Speaker 1: not mad at that. He played the game right.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You know, he had to hit us with the classic
- 1:18Speaker 2: wash shack poses. and you know they put that they
- 1:22Speaker 2: put that gap.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Band on don't even get me started let me tell
- 1:26Speaker 1: you something about the tiktokification of culture now this is
- 1:30Speaker 1: one of my favorite songs right here I love this
- 1:33Speaker 1: song so much but how and why did it become
- 1:36Speaker 1: the washed athlete anthem I don't like that you like
- 1:41Speaker 1: my after every edit.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Damn yo he probably made so much money off that
- 1:47Speaker 2: just becoming that Charlie Wilson?
- 1:50Speaker 1: You know, the funny thing to me is when they
- 1:52Speaker 1: had like a, I don't know if it was a
- 1:54Speaker 1: tiny desk or like a live concert, but they sounded bad, bro.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It was like, you light my fire.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I was like, yo, stop it. The background singer is
- 2:04Speaker 3: a Charlie.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It's Charlie.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I think I know what you want me to talk about.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Charlie sounded good.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I don't know. He listened to this right here.
- 2:10Speaker 4: You.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was more youthful exuberance. He hopped up there like, you!
- 2:19Speaker 1: He sounded bad, bro.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie. Nah, I don't know.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I gotta go.
- 2:22Speaker 3: We gotta hear that again. I think Uncle Charlie had it.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We gonna pull it up. We gonna compare. He sounded bad,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I'm telling you. But this is all like, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 1: songs like this, 90s sitcom, it's all a matter of
- 2:34Speaker 1: stress relief. That is the conversation we gonna have real quick,
- 2:37Speaker 1: real quick on TRB. Welcome back to the show. We
- 2:40Speaker 1: didn't leave, but Once again, Joshua Iman, he's your host. Leigh,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Corey David, Nikki Marie. Stress relief, right?
- 2:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Now, just to reemphasize the theme, stress relief, obviously, when
- 2:55Speaker 1: it comes to stress being the number one killer, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: as today is, yes, the last day of suicide prevention
- 3:01Speaker 1: awareness a month, we have to talk about stress being
- 3:05Speaker 1: a major problem when it comes to people's lives and
- 3:08Speaker 1: the ways that it doesn't even affect people. You know,
- 3:12Speaker 1: there was a realization I had through my doctors because
- 3:18Speaker 1: I was telling them like, you know, they were just
- 3:20Speaker 1: going through the regular physical last time I was there. Like, oh,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know, blood work, stuff like that. And, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 1: going over the results and everything. And I was like, oh,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you know, how do you feel about appetite and weight?
- 3:29Speaker 1: And I was like, you know what? Yeah, no, I
- 3:31Speaker 1: feel like I've been doing everything I can and making everything,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you know, calorie deficit, walking 10K steps a day and
- 3:38Speaker 1: all that, going to the gym. But I just can't
- 3:40Speaker 1: shake some of this weight. you know, on my body.
- 3:44Speaker 1: And she was like, well, according to your blood work,
- 3:48Speaker 1: it was a lot of things pointing to something called
- 3:51Speaker 1: high cortisol. Yeah, I had the, shout out Gen Z,
- 3:55Speaker 1: Gen Alpha. My cortisol, I was cortisol maxing. My cortisol
- 4:01Speaker 1: level spiked. I was gesture maxing all that. I was
- 4:04Speaker 1: looking bad. So once I realized that, I'm like, you
- 4:07Speaker 1: know what? I, when I tell you, I've talked about
- 4:11Speaker 1: perfectionism on this show and we've talked about guys like,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you know, the aforementioned Kobe Bryant. God rest his soul.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Talk about a guy that really embodies his mentality in
- 4:20Speaker 1: terms of perfectionism never being satisfied in Jalen Brunson, right?
- 4:25Speaker 1: You know? What was the rallying cry for the Knicks
- 4:28Speaker 1: during the playoffs? Zero-zero mentality all times. Never satisfied. Win streak?
- 4:33Speaker 1: What win streak? We locked into the next game and
- 4:35Speaker 1: that's it, right? Don't look reverse. Don't look backward. Don't
- 4:39Speaker 1: look forward. Well, look forward, but only one game forward, right?
- 4:44Speaker 1: So it's interesting with those mindsets. And while it can
- 4:50Speaker 1: be productive, like we all know a workaholic that just
- 4:53Speaker 1: can't stop, won't stop. I hate that I did that, but...
- 4:58Speaker 1: They won't stop until... Like success is never good enough
- 5:02Speaker 1: no matter how much they get. But it can be
- 5:04Speaker 1: costly if it's stressing you out every single day. Like
- 5:07Speaker 1: you got bags under your eyes. You're looking bad because
- 5:10Speaker 1: you don't give yourself no time to rest. And I
- 5:13Speaker 1: realized that about myself. I was like, yo, I work
- 5:15Speaker 1: so hard. Y'all see the topic sheets I pull up,
- 5:18Speaker 1: color-coded and all of that, working very hard to put
- 5:21Speaker 1: on a great show for everybody. But it gets really stressful.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And I was like, I feel like I've just been
- 5:27Speaker 1: running on a treadmill of stress personally. This is my
- 5:30Speaker 1: personal attestation right here, my personal message right here. I
- 5:37Speaker 1: feel like I've been on a treadmill of stress since
- 5:39Speaker 1: I was like 14 and I haven't gotten off. And
- 5:43Speaker 1: I realized that my last therapy session, he was like, Oh, well,
- 5:49Speaker 1: why don't you try something different? You know what the
- 5:50Speaker 1: definition of insanity is? And I was like, yeah, doing
- 5:55Speaker 1: the same thing over and over expecting something different. So
- 5:58Speaker 1: you know what? I put the screens down, got off
- 6:01Speaker 1: social media for a little bit, started writing more, meditating. Um,
- 6:09Speaker 1: All of that. And yeah, I feel like, yeah, I
- 6:13Speaker 1: feel like I'm hearing parts of my brain I haven't
- 6:14Speaker 1: heard in years. Like, oh, it's quiet up in here.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's not voices going back and forth. Like, oh, you
- 6:19Speaker 1: got to do this. You got to do that. Got
- 6:20Speaker 1: to do this. If you don't do this. Yeah, it's better.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And that's why I bring this topic to the show.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Because stress, I want everybody to feel that relief. That
- 6:30Speaker 1: relief of that stress coming off your back. you know
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's just uh i want that relief for everybody you
- 6:40Speaker 1: feel me so yeah we all everybody in the room
- 6:44Speaker 1: goes to work or they go to school or they
- 6:47Speaker 1: go to both or they have some combination they try
- 6:50Speaker 1: to keep up a social life try to be present
- 6:53Speaker 1: in real life irl social media try to have hobbies
- 6:58Speaker 1: everything else all of that in a vacuum and a
- 7:01Speaker 1: combination can be very stressful so i've told my story
- 7:05Speaker 1: i've gave my testimony um how we feel who wants
- 7:09Speaker 1: to take the mantle on how they handle stress or
- 7:11Speaker 1: where the source of the most stress comes from the
- 7:14Speaker 1: source of it in their life oh cory's raising his
- 7:16Speaker 1: hand i really feel like i'm in.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Clash right now go ahead cory.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Uh can i just say what what stresses me out
- 7:25Speaker 2: loki yeah um the recess bell For one, no, first... Yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 2: because you have fun here, right?
- 7:33Speaker 3: I do.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:35Speaker 2: But I would say finances, not being financially where I
- 7:38Speaker 2: want to be right now.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I was just about to say that. And that's everybody
- 7:41Speaker 1: these days, damn near.
- 7:42Speaker 6: That was my answer.
- 7:43Speaker 5: That was mine too.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And it's just always like, I'm trying to get the
- 7:47Speaker 2: next check, get the next buck, like stacking and doing
- 7:51Speaker 2: everything I can to just be financially stable.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I just want to be.
- 7:57Speaker 2: And then, Another thing that stresses me out is, and
- 8:01Speaker 2: this is a millennial, I don't know if this is,
- 8:03Speaker 2: this is probably every problem, but I know it's a
- 8:05Speaker 2: millennial problem to be exact.
- 8:06Speaker 3: This is probably just me. This is probably my experience.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I feel like I'm running out of time as far
- 8:11Speaker 2: as things. I'm not where I want to be in life.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I'm not financially where I want to be. I feel
- 8:22Speaker 2: like my time is running out. Possibly having that dream life, kids, marriage,
- 8:28Speaker 2: and everything like that. A career, a career that I
- 8:31Speaker 2: can say I'm happy about. That's something that's always at
- 8:35Speaker 2: the back of my mind because I just like, I
- 8:40Speaker 2: try to like avoid it. I try to get as
- 8:42Speaker 2: much sleep as I can to try to, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: woo side out, you know, try to, but it's always
- 8:47Speaker 2: in the back of my head. It's just like, You're
- 8:49Speaker 2: not where you want to be at right now. You
- 8:52Speaker 2: got a degree.
- 8:53Speaker 3: You haven't used it. And it's just like.
- 8:55Speaker 1: By the way, that's a lot of people right now, too.
- 9:02Speaker 2: It's like, dog, you got to get up on your JLB.
- 9:07Speaker 3: You got to get it. You got to go. And
- 9:08Speaker 3: you got to... I feel like, you know, I'm scared
- 9:11Speaker 3: of taking risks.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Like, there's a lot of risks that I avoided taking
- 9:15Speaker 2: just because I'm, like, scared and nervous to actually taking it.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And that's one thing I can say about, like, I
- 9:21Speaker 2: don't know if it's particularly about my generation, but a
- 9:23Speaker 2: lot of people don't take as many risks as they
- 9:25Speaker 2: could because, you know, it's like, you know, your parents had, like, they, like,
- 9:31Speaker 2: you see how your parents is living and, like, you
- 9:32Speaker 2: had the house and everything like that. And it's just like,
- 9:35Speaker 2: you know, sometimes that market ain't like that how it
- 9:37Speaker 2: is now.
- 9:38Speaker 3: So it's more stressful.
- 9:39Speaker 2: It's more environment. And I say the last thing for
- 9:41Speaker 2: me is health. Like, my health because... I try sometimes
- 9:48Speaker 2: to try to lock in on that and try to
- 9:51Speaker 2: get bad at it, but I think the incident that
- 9:54Speaker 2: made me really like, oh snap, was when I was
- 9:57Speaker 2: at the Six Flags with my niece and nephew and
- 10:01Speaker 2: we on a ride and out of nowhere i just
- 10:04Speaker 2: start feeling lightheaded this is the first time i ever
- 10:06Speaker 2: done this in my like first time i i was
- 10:08Speaker 2: like this i was lightheaded and i was like i
- 10:10Speaker 2: was about to i was about to pass out and
- 10:12Speaker 2: i needed my niece and nephews to walk me down
- 10:16Speaker 2: the stairs and i was like it kind of threw
- 10:20Speaker 2: me for a loop. Like, I was like, I could
- 10:23Speaker 2: have probably, I don't know what would have happened in
- 10:25Speaker 2: that moment. I'm just like, it's like scared that, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 2: you ain't maximize your life.
- 10:30Speaker 3: You feel me?
- 10:32Speaker 1: I hate to keep shouting on my articles, but I
- 10:34Speaker 1: really try to hit the pulse of what we all
- 10:37Speaker 1: might be feeling. I wrote a post on Mentality last
- 10:40Speaker 1: year titled Maximizing Potential. It was actually called Wasting Potential.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And there's, while that's important too, in terms of like
- 10:47Speaker 1: not feeling that fear of, It's a version of FOMO, right?
- 10:50Speaker 1: You feel like you're missing out on like, I know
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm talented at this one thing or a couple of things,
- 10:55Speaker 1: but I'm not where I need to be in that.
- 10:57Speaker 1: That's definitely real. Another thing you pointed out, Corey, and
- 11:00Speaker 1: thank you for sharing all that. There's one thing I'll
- 11:02Speaker 1: shine a light on that you said. I think people can,
- 11:05Speaker 1: we can dilute ourselves into thinking, you know, okay, life
- 11:10Speaker 1: is stressful, right? You know, tough day at work. Oh
- 11:12Speaker 1: my God, yo, these people was bugging me all day,
- 11:15Speaker 1: annoying the hell out of me. I'm going to revert
- 11:18Speaker 1: back to what's an example I could say? Comfort zone. Like, okay,
- 11:23Speaker 1: I'm just going to stick to what I know. Comfort show.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Comfort food. I just need to feel better and stick
- 11:28Speaker 1: to what I know. But too much of that can
- 11:31Speaker 1: be detrimental in a way too long term because if
- 11:34Speaker 1: you just stay stuck in your comfort zone and you're
- 11:36Speaker 1: not taking risks like you said, that can be detrimental.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And that's one thing I talk about. I think we
- 11:43Speaker 1: mentioned it last week in the Gen Z conversation in
- 11:45Speaker 1: terms of isolation. gen z isolates by far the most
- 11:49Speaker 1: out of any gender any generation that you know especially
- 11:51Speaker 1: was a young adult we talk about millennials like one
- 11:53Speaker 1: thing a millennial is going to do is like yo
- 11:55Speaker 1: let's link at such and such but but gen z
- 11:57Speaker 1: is not like that so and it's just another version
- 11:59Speaker 1: of kind of being too comfort too comfortable in our
- 12:03Speaker 1: own spaces not really taking risk like that i just.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Want to say like for me when i would like
- 12:07Speaker 2: to relieve stress like like i said i sleep like
- 12:10Speaker 2: sleep has always been like my like go-to like when
- 12:13Speaker 2: i'm like i would have like a paper or something
- 12:16Speaker 2: do and like i'm stressed i don't know how i'm
- 12:19Speaker 2: gonna actually get it done what i would literally do
- 12:22Speaker 2: is be like i'm gonna go get some sleep because
- 12:24Speaker 2: sleep will sleep will calm me down and then i
- 12:28Speaker 2: can reassess readjust and think about.
- 12:30Speaker 1: It when i tell you i i've told multiple people
- 12:34Speaker 1: this and especially since you know being back in school
- 12:37Speaker 1: and everything If there's one thing I have done in
- 12:40Speaker 1: my past and I'm never going to do again, ever,
- 12:43Speaker 1: it don't matter how much work I got, I'm never
- 12:45Speaker 1: pulling an all-nighter. No, that's done. That is a pinnacle
- 12:49Speaker 1: of stress for me.
- 12:50Speaker 2: There's been times where I was stressed out and I
- 12:53Speaker 2: just slept a whole day, a whole day away.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Slept a whole day away.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can't lie, me too.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Because I'm like, I got to take a break from reality.
- 13:01Speaker 2: I just got to be by myself today. Be by
- 13:05Speaker 2: myself and then just... i'll i'll re-enter the world tomorrow.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I feel you on that for personally speaking i'm a
- 13:12Speaker 1: terrible texter so people be like yo you know that
- 13:16Speaker 1: that meme of like the friend that always disappears in
- 13:19Speaker 1: the group chat but a friend that always disappears right
- 13:21Speaker 1: after you text them it's like where did you go
- 13:23Speaker 1: i was sleeping for seven hours during the.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Day yeah what do you mean yeah i i know
- 13:31Speaker 4: i've i've i'm i'm a terrible friend i've hit everybody
- 13:33Speaker 4: with that but Like Corey says, sometimes it's just like, yo,
- 13:36Speaker 4: oh my God.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Stress here, there, everywhere. Can't escape it. I just need
- 13:41Speaker 1: to decompress. And sleeping is the best way I know how.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I think my issue is balance. Because if I.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Like work-life balance?
- 13:49Speaker 5: If I'm looking outside of myself and I just, I'm like,
- 13:54Speaker 5: this girl has a family. She has a husband. You know,
- 13:58Speaker 5: she has kids. She has work. She has school.
- 14:01Speaker 4: She has.
- 14:02Speaker 5: businesses, like all of these things. And I'm trying to
- 14:05Speaker 5: figure out the great way to balance it all. But
- 14:09Speaker 5: I think my mind keeps, if I keep my mind busy,
- 14:15Speaker 5: I don't think about certain things. And so I put
- 14:18Speaker 5: more on my plate than I really should. I probably
- 14:22Speaker 5: get less sleep. I do have some struggles when I
- 14:26Speaker 5: think of financials. kind of like similar to Corey, like
- 14:31Speaker 5: I'm not where I would want to be financially. One
- 14:35Speaker 5: way to combat that is we've created kind of a
- 14:38Speaker 5: financial budget for ourselves. And sometimes people will be like, oh,
- 14:42Speaker 5: so you nickel and dime everything? You kind of have to.
- 14:47Speaker 5: The way that we live now with gas prices and
- 14:51Speaker 5: mortgage rates and all these other things going up, it's
- 14:55Speaker 5: a challenge. And I guess the best way is to
- 14:58Speaker 5: Just kind of write journal things down and figure out
- 15:02Speaker 5: what things you can maybe stop doing. You know, and
- 15:08Speaker 5: focus more on on one thing instead of focusing on
- 15:11Speaker 5: all the negative things. I was actually just telling my son,
- 15:14Speaker 5: I was like, you know, everything that we stress about,
- 15:17Speaker 5: it has an end. Like eventually certain things that you're
- 15:21Speaker 5: going through, it has an end. Like I know for me,
- 15:25Speaker 5: I'm in school now, but I'm going to be finishing soon.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Or like two years ago, we had a flood and
- 15:32Speaker 5: I lost my car. We had to get a new car. Eventually,
- 15:36Speaker 5: I'm going to pay off my car. So that's one
- 15:38Speaker 5: less debt to have. Maybe the real thing to do
- 15:43Speaker 5: is to think of certain problems as temporary.
- 15:47Speaker 4: True.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Going back to the financial, because I feel as though
- 15:51Speaker 6: my issue is spending. Spending. and like always beating myself
- 15:56Speaker 6: up about it. Like my spending habits. Yes, exactly.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 16:00Speaker 6: No, literally I have a spending problem, but I, and
- 16:03Speaker 6: I realized like, dang, I have to pay this bill.
- 16:05Speaker 6: I had to pay the light bill and then it
- 16:06Speaker 6: didn't click to me. And so like, I literally had
- 16:08Speaker 6: like a final notice about paying.
- 16:11Speaker 1: The light bill.
- 16:11Speaker 6: I was like, okay, yeah, I have a real problem.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Seriously.
- 16:15Speaker 6: And it took a lot of me where I was
- 16:17Speaker 6: like crying at night sometimes where I was like, dang,
- 16:20Speaker 6: like you have to do better, honestly, what you're spending.
- 16:23Speaker 6: And I had to write in my journal to be
- 16:27Speaker 6: a relief for my stress. Or also just put the
- 16:32Speaker 6: card away. Honestly, the Apple Pay is really a hitter
- 16:36Speaker 6: for me, to be honest.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So I took Apple.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Pay off my phone. I sometimes leave my card at home,
- 16:42Speaker 6: like my debit card or my credit card at home,
- 16:45Speaker 6: and just leave cash for the week that I know
- 16:48Speaker 6: that I can spend. That's really been helping me so far.
- 16:51Speaker 6: But it's hard, honestly.
- 16:53Speaker 5: I mean, I know that we have to all live.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 5: And we want to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
- 16:58Speaker 5: But there are certain things at this time, like I said,
- 17:02Speaker 5: it's temporary. I don't expect gas prices to be going up, up, up, up,
- 17:08Speaker 5: up forever. That can change. I don't expect groceries to
- 17:12Speaker 5: keep going up, up, up forever. Yeah. That can change.
- 17:16Speaker 5: We do have to force ourselves to change certain habits.
- 17:20Speaker 6: And And realize that you have a problem.
- 17:22Speaker 5: And realize that you have a problem.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Seriously, though. Melanie's not here, but she brought up something
- 17:29Speaker 1: interesting to me one time where she was talking about
- 17:32Speaker 1: screen time because we all have smartphones now. So, you know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: it's very common. We honestly don't talk about it enough
- 17:39Speaker 1: for how common it is. But it's very common to
- 17:42Speaker 1: get caught up in the they have a phrase for
- 17:44Speaker 1: it now. It's doom scrolling. Very easy to get caught
- 17:47Speaker 1: up in doom scrolling and before you know it, you
- 17:49Speaker 1: had a nasty amount of screen time for the week.
- 17:52Speaker 1: So Melanie says she had an app where it literally
- 17:56Speaker 1: blocks after you cross a certain threshold of screen time,
- 17:59Speaker 1: it will block certain apps. I believe it was, I
- 18:02Speaker 1: think it was called a brick something.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Yes, brick.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Like, do I have, like, the definition of that right
- 18:07Speaker 1: or the explanation of that right?
- 18:09Speaker 6: I think it's, like, a literal, like, device where you put, like,
- 18:13Speaker 6: an actual brick. It says brick on your phone, and
- 18:17Speaker 6: then it, like, limits your screen time.
- 18:20Speaker 5: What's funny is that I have that for my kids.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Really?
- 18:22Speaker 5: I just go to their settings. Well, we have, like,
- 18:26Speaker 5: we have a family thing. So I just go in,
- 18:29Speaker 5: and I'm like, all right, how much time do you
- 18:31Speaker 5: need to spend on this app?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Because I have to regulate it.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:35Speaker 5: But you could do the same thing for yourself. Just
- 18:37Speaker 5: go to your settings. And I believe there's, you go
- 18:41Speaker 5: to like different apps and you can see how much
- 18:44Speaker 5: time you can spend on it.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Is that like the Apple screen time setting?
- 18:50Speaker 5: Basically, yeah.
- 18:52Speaker 6: I feel, because I have that with, like, Amazon, going
- 18:54Speaker 6: back to my spending habits, because I'm on Amazon a lot. So, like,
- 19:00Speaker 6: I have that for Amazon, but then it always pops up.
- 19:03Speaker 6: It's like, oh, like, your screen time is over. Do
- 19:06Speaker 6: you want 15 minutes? Do you want another minute? Do
- 19:09Speaker 6: you want to just cancel everything for the rest of
- 19:12Speaker 6: the day and go on the whole app? And I'm like,
- 19:13Speaker 6: cancel the rest of the day. I'm on the whole app. Like,
- 19:16Speaker 6: I'm going to be on Amazon the whole day. So
- 19:18Speaker 6: I don't think that's really a fix, to be honest,
- 19:21Speaker 6: with the whole Apple having that as a feature.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Yeah, because you would go. OK, so I'm on the
- 19:27Speaker 5: family one right now.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:29Speaker 5: So I go to Haley. I click on Haley. Then
- 19:32Speaker 5: I go to it says Apple account parent slash guardian.
- 19:36Speaker 5: And then it says screen time usage and parental controls.
- 19:39Speaker 5: So I would click on screen time and then it
- 19:42Speaker 5: says app limits. It says downtime You can even do
- 19:47Speaker 5: screen distance. So if she's putting it too close to
- 19:51Speaker 5: her face, it'll stop working. Then there's also one that
- 19:55Speaker 5: says communication limits, communication safety, and content and privacy restrictions
- 20:02Speaker 5: and all that stuff. You can do the same thing
- 20:05Speaker 5: for yourself.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 20:07Speaker 6: I think this all ties into, like, learning how to
- 20:09Speaker 6: have self-control.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Which is tough.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 6: And especially, yeah, it's pretty much self-control, to be honest.
- 20:16Speaker 6: That's what I can think of.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Resisting temptation.
- 20:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I found that, and again, in the topic of
- 20:24Speaker 1: relieving stress, it's something that we don't, like, oh, this
- 20:26Speaker 1: would be nice to do. It's something I'm telling everybody
- 20:28Speaker 1: you need to do, especially the deeper we get into adulthood. Like,
- 20:31Speaker 1: I know, you know, mainly young people listen to our show,
- 20:33Speaker 1: but trust me on this. Like, don't let it, Don't
- 20:36Speaker 1: be like me and be on the stress treadmill.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Like, why?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Why do I always feel like I got so used
- 20:41Speaker 1: to feeling stressed? I didn't really fully realize I was
- 20:44Speaker 1: that stressed, like a level of stress I was feeling. So, yeah, no, absolutely.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You have to put boundaries in place. But you also
- 20:49Speaker 1: got to know, like I always say, self-awareness save you
- 20:52Speaker 1: from a lot. So if you're self-aware that you're stressed
- 20:56Speaker 1: and you know the physical symptoms like racing heartbeat, you
- 20:59Speaker 1: get a little sweaty, a little clammy. You feel me?
- 21:02Speaker 1: I'm not even trying to be funny, but. Yeah, it
- 21:04Speaker 1: can definitely help you when you realize that you can
- 21:06Speaker 1: catch yourself and be like, I need to unwind. I
- 21:08Speaker 1: need to do something, a good coping mechanism to unwind. But,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you know, the first step is being self-aware to realize
- 21:14Speaker 1: that you are stressed. And like I said, like we
- 21:17Speaker 1: talked about, it's a number one killer for a reason.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I don't say that to, you know, scare people. But,
- 21:22Speaker 1: you know, maybe y'all need to be scared. You don't
- 21:24Speaker 1: need to be scared straight. Yeah, maybe y'all like, yeah, yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 1: stop being stressed because it can kill you. I'm not
- 21:30Speaker 1: lying to y'all. Look it up. Mm-hmm. Even a whack-ass
- 21:34Speaker 1: Google Gemini will tell you.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: It could take you out. I can't. Yeah. Do you
- 21:40Speaker 1: know how Google took away the search button? So straight. Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You're forced. Anytime you search something up on Google and
- 21:47Speaker 1: you press enter, you're forced now into the Gemini AI results.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Oh, that is true.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I didn't even notice that. Now, people don't mind it,
- 21:57Speaker 1: but I'm somebody, especially as somebody that writes a lot
- 22:00Speaker 1: of research papers for fun. Yeah, I know. I'm crazy. Um,
- 22:03Speaker 1: but I like, just give me the links. I can
- 22:07Speaker 1: make my own decisions. Give me the links. I can,
- 22:09Speaker 1: I can make the decisions on my own. Trust me.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That was an interesting thing that happened. Uh, again, uh,
- 22:15Speaker 1: stress relief can also be music as well. You know,
- 22:17Speaker 1: we play music on the show from time to time. And, uh, we, uh,
- 22:21Speaker 1: we brought up the, uh, the washed anthem that we
- 22:25Speaker 1: was playing earlier. And I, I, I want to circle
- 22:28Speaker 1: back to this because I did bring up Again, this
- 22:31Speaker 1: is a great track, right? But it just got bastardized
- 22:34Speaker 1: by TikTok. Now it's the washed anthems.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Just have a bunch of pictures of Clay Thompson doing
- 22:43Speaker 2: a dribble.
- 22:45Speaker 1: You got bald LeBron like.
- 22:47Speaker 2: You got Bam and Giannis doing the fusion dance.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not good. So I.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Hey, this is how I felt when I tried to
- 22:58Speaker 2: play my nephew in some basketball.
- 23:00Speaker 1: It's over for me. Now, let's see if I can
- 23:04Speaker 1: get this right, because I wanted to compare, like I said,
- 23:07Speaker 1: the live concert version.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Okay. Oh, I rocked with that. Hold on a second.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Hold on.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Okay. Am I bugging? No, hold on. That sounds good.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's good right now. We're going to keep it going.
- 23:37Speaker 5: He was lip-syncing, by the way.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Wow. Don't put those accusations on Uncle Charlie.
- 23:44Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:45Speaker 5: He moved his.
- 23:46Speaker 3: One second, one second.
- 23:47Speaker 2: You light my fire.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I don't know, man.
- 23:55Speaker 5: I can't even hear him.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, that one wasn't the best version.
- 23:59Speaker 5: You guys didn't see it live? So he moved the
- 24:04Speaker 5: mic away from his mouth and the song was still going.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Oh. Uncle Charlie would never.
- 24:17Speaker 5: First of all, God bless him. He freaking had a
- 24:21Speaker 5: stroke or something.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Let's see if we got a version here
- 24:25Speaker 1: we can pick at. I'm just saying, there was one
- 24:29Speaker 1: where he sounded real bad. I'm like, yo. Okay, this one,
- 24:34Speaker 1: he's just dancing.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Is this him when he's sitting down?
- 24:37Speaker 1: No.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Okay, that's the one I thought you were talking about.
- 24:40Speaker 3: The one where he's at the table?
- 24:41Speaker 1: The tiny desk?
- 24:42Speaker 3: Tiny desk.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to have to find that one.
- 24:45Speaker 2: The tiny desk, that's what I thought you were talking about.
- 24:47Speaker 2: It was like, yo, he had a bad performance.
- 24:49Speaker 3: No, I heard that one. Okay. That's Tiny Dust, right?
- 24:55Speaker 1: I'm laughing already. Girl, you ducked me out.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Girl, you ducked.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Me out.
- 25:03Speaker 1: This is the one right here. Girl, you're looking sweeter now.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Okay.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Okay.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Sound good to me?
- 25:15Speaker 4: No.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Wait. Wait for it.
- 25:20Speaker 6: I wish that I could love you right.
- 25:26Speaker 1: In a special way, girl.
- 25:28Speaker 3: You light my fire. You light my fire.
- 25:33Speaker 4: You fill my life.
- 25:38Speaker 1: No, no. You blow my mind. Corey, you're not serious.
- 25:46Speaker 1: You're not serious. This is my guy right here. I'm
- 25:49Speaker 1: not going to lie to myself. Brother, I don't know
- 25:51Speaker 1: what you're talking about.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Woo!
- 25:54Speaker 6: Yes!
- 25:55Speaker 5: Yes!
- 25:56Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I'll rock with it.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 26:02Speaker 1: One second. One second.
- 26:04Speaker 3: When you said, you know, you were like, yo, that
- 26:05Speaker 3: wasn't a good performance.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And the great words of.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Jalen Rose, not going to be able to do it.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Not going to be able to say it was a
- 26:12Speaker 3: bad performance. I'll rock with it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You see how silky.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Smooth that sound?
- 26:19Speaker 1: I feel alive. I feel alive. I feel as though
- 26:22Speaker 1: he had.
- 26:23Speaker 6: More smoothy, silky performances.
- 26:25Speaker 3: That sound like Charlie. I don't know what's up.
- 26:27Speaker 5: He had a freaking health condition.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I understand.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I understand that. I think this was before, but this sound.
- 26:34Speaker 5: You're not helping.
- 26:35Speaker 3: This sound like Charlie. So wait, that don't sound like Charlie?
- 26:37Speaker 3: I'm just saying he sounds like a meme.
- 26:39Speaker 1: He sounds like this.
- 26:40Speaker 3: This is literally the washed anthem. That sound.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Again.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You light my fire. Yo. You light my fire.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 26:53Speaker 3: That's how it goes, my guy.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Respect.
- 26:57Speaker 6: I feel as though it's like, you light my fire.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I feel like it's like a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse version.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Great song.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Nah, you gotta pay for them vocals.
- 27:10Speaker 6: Why are you trying to.
- 27:13Speaker 3: That sounds like a Mickey Mouse.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Is that not the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse version? I'm sorry.
- 27:19Speaker 3: No, dog.
- 27:20Speaker 2: No, dog.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I don't like this. I don't
- 27:24Speaker 1: like what you're doing.
- 27:25Speaker 3: I don't like it either. I don't like what you're
- 27:27Speaker 3: doing to Charlie, man.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'm not trying to. I'm just keeping it real.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Dude is 73 years old. He had multiple strokes.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I'm not discounting that.
- 27:36Speaker 3: That was a good performance. I don't know what you're
- 27:39Speaker 3: talking about. I enjoyed it. Go to the comics. See
- 27:41Speaker 3: what the comics say.
- 27:43Speaker 1: They're not kind to Charlie.
- 27:44Speaker 5: Well, they need to stop hating.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 6: It be your own people.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I'm going to go look at these.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 27:49Speaker 5: First name Charlie. Last name Wilson.
- 27:51Speaker 3: I'm going to the video. I'm going to the video
- 27:52Speaker 3: right now.
- 27:53Speaker 1: All right. Thank you for listening to the recess bell
- 27:57Speaker 1: on air tonight. Stress relief. Take that lesson. Run with it.
