- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happen to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. Here are the birds off in the
- 0:30background. I'm on the porch.
- 0:33They're just starting to wake up and they're very excited because
- 0:36I've already filled their bird feeders out there with my
- 0:39flashlights. I want to read you something.
- 0:42That's a quote from Virginia Woolf.
- 0:45Whatever happens, stay alive. Don't die before you're dead.
- 0:49Don't lose yourself. Don't lose hope.
- 0:51Don't lose direction. Stay alive with yourself, with
- 0:55every cell of your body, with every fiber of your skin.
- 0:59Stay alive. Learn, study, think, rebuild,
- 1:02and then create, speak, write, dream design.
- 1:06Stay alive. Stay alive inside you, stay
- 1:10alive also outside. Fill yourself with colors of the
- 1:14world. Fill yourself with peace.
- 1:16Fill yourself with hope, stay alive with joy.
- 1:19There is only one thing you should not waste in your life
- 1:22and that's life itself. I read that and I was like, wow,
- 1:27that just kind of hits home. When you start thinking about
- 1:31all the things that she said in there.
- 1:34It's like, what part of you are you not paying attention to?
- 1:38That's dying? And when you look at the list of
- 1:40things that she went through, stay alive, learn, study, think,
- 1:44read, build, invent, create, speak, write, dream, design.
- 1:50All these things are part of what humans were like just meant
- 1:56to do. It's part of we Co create with
- 1:58the universe every single day. And if we're not doing that, if
- 2:03we're not fulfilling that, that's when, in my opinion, we
- 2:08start to feel like we're dying. I can see it in my clients.
- 2:11I see it in myself. When I don't feel like I'm
- 2:13creating something, I feel like I'm dying.
- 2:16So when I'm creating flower gardens, when I'm creating
- 2:19sanctuaries for birds or caring for my chickens and creating
- 2:24like, you know, one of my big projects has been making the
- 2:28porch feel like this really beautiful sanctuary for plants.
- 2:35And now we've added, if you can hear water running in the
- 2:37background, we've added this water garden feature where we
- 2:41have a turtle, our turtle living in there.
- 2:43And it is again, it's like all garden oriented.
- 2:48And there is just something about plants that makes my heart
- 2:54happy. I can't explain it, but I know
- 2:57it's there. And the more plants I have, the
- 3:00more I feel fulfilled. So the more I create things to
- 3:04fulfill that, the more I have all of these these, you know,
- 3:09beings around me. Every little flower matters.
- 3:12That's why in the drought, going around watering them every day
- 3:16matters. Like it takes me, I hand water
- 3:18right now to make sure everybody's getting something
- 3:21and that hand watering takes me like 2 1/2 hours, maybe 2 hours
- 3:26every night. Some nights I'm slower than
- 3:28others, but it takes me that long to do it because I'm making
- 3:33sure I got it. And if I don't finish until, you
- 3:36know, I start at six when I finish coaching and then all of
- 3:39a sudden, and some nights I start at 7 when I finish
- 3:43coaching. And then that's what it does.
- 3:46It it takes me that amount of time because nothing is more
- 3:49important than being able to Co create and and be a part of it
- 3:55because it makes me feel alive. It makes me feel completely
- 3:59alive when I walk out in the morning like I am right now
- 4:02standing on my porch and I'm overlooking this, you know, this
- 4:07just a ray of different flowers that are starting to come up.
- 4:11It it's evidence of all this effort and love and work that
- 4:16I've been putting in for months and that Mother Nature has been
- 4:20putting in because I've got perennials out there that are
- 4:22coming up. And I just look at everything
- 4:24and I'm like, wow, OK, this is tremendous.
- 4:27This is this makes me feel really, really good that this is
- 4:30what's happening. So my point is, don't die
- 4:35reading that you don't die with your music in you, as I've said
- 4:39before. But that list is just
- 4:42incredible. So the question of the day, and
- 4:46this is, you know, from Virginia Woolf, what are you doing?
- 4:51What are you doing? Are you, are you doing those
- 4:53things? And it doesn't have to consume
- 4:55your whole day because yes, we are task oriented.
- 4:57We have to do tasks. That's just part of being human.
- 5:00We have to, but it doesn't mean we give up the other parts.
- 5:04So what are you doing that brings that to you every single
- 5:09day? What are those things that
- 5:10you're doing every single day to bring it in?
- 5:13I hope you have a blessed day, my friends, and I will see you
- 5:17all tomorrow. Bye.
