- Lucas: Hey there, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I've got Luna here with me. Luna: Hi! And we're so happy you're joining us. Today we're going to talk about something we all use every day. Lucas: We're heading into the kitchen again. But this time, not for breakfast foods. We're going to learn the names of some common kitchen items. Luna: Oh, I love this. Last episode we had breakfast, so now we need to know what we're using, right? Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with something you use to eat with. The fork. In Spanish, el tenedor. Luna: El tenedor. That's fun to say. Tenedor. Lucas: Great job. And the knife is el cuchillo. Luna: El cuchillo. Hmm. Cuchillo. I like that one. Lucas: And the spoon. La cuchara. Luna: La cuchara. Okay, that's close to cuchillo. Cuchillo, cuchara. They're similar. Lucas: They are. Just a little tweak at the end. So we have el tenedor, el cuchillo, la cuchara. Now, what do you put your food on? The plate. El plato. Luna: El plato. That's easy. I know that one from somewhere. Lucas: It's a common word. And to drink, you might use a cup. La taza. Luna: La taza. Like a coffee mug. Lucas: Yes. So we have five items. Let's review them all once. El tenedor, el cuchillo, la cuchara, el plato, la taza. Luna: El tenedor, el cuchillo, la cuchara, el plato, la taza. Got it. Those are useful. Lucas: And to use them, we can say 'Voy a poner la mesa.' That means 'I'm going to set the table.' Luna: Voy a poner la mesa. So if I'm getting ready for dinner, I can say that. Lucas: Exactly. You're setting the table with the tenedor, cuchillo, cuchara, plato, and taza. Luna: Let me try a little scene. So I say, 'Voy a poner la mesa' and then I put out the tenedor, el cuchillo, la cuchara, el plato, and la taza. Lucas: Perfect. You just described a whole dinner setup. Luna: This is great. Now I can actually help in the kitchen in Spanish. Well, at least with the table. Lucas: And that's a big step. Let's do one more round. Repeat after me: el tenedor. Luna: El tenedor. Lucas: El cuchillo. Luna: El cuchillo. Lucas: La cuchara. Luna: La cuchara. Lucas: El plato. Luna: El plato. Lucas: La taza. Luna: La taza. Lucas: And one more time, Voy a poner la mesa. Luna: Voy a poner la mesa. Lucas: Perfect. You're doing so well. Luna: Thanks. You know, these little episodes are really helping me. I feel like I can actually use these phrases in real life. Lucas: That's the whole point. And if Fexingo has been helping you make progress like that, maybe think about supporting the show. It's a small thing, but it keeps us going. Luna: Yeah, it's like if today's episode was worth a coffee to you, you can buy us one at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: And no pressure. Now back to the kitchen. Imagine you're having a meal with friends. You can say, 'Voy a poner la mesa' and then list what you're placing. Luna: Pongo el tenedor, el cuchillo, la cuchara, el plato, y la taza. Lucas: Beautiful. That's a full table. Well, we hope you enjoyed this quick trip to the kitchen. Practice these words and we'll see you next time. Luna: Yes, practice with us again soon. Bye!
