- 0:05My childhood basically sums up that if we wanted to eat something other than corn,
- 0:10then we' d have to marry him. I' ve never married
- 0:15for fun, but sometimes, when it' s hard to make it to
- 0:19the end of the month, then I usually go for a walk in the
- 0:21woods. That day I went hunting in the woods on a cloudy afternoon.
- 0:26I love the feeling of being in nature, surrounded by trees and animals.
- 0:32My grandfather had taken care of becoming a very good hunter, so as soon
- 0:37as it came to tracking or orientation, he was quite an expert. I
- 0:43walked into the woods with my rifle in my hand and my backpack on my
- 0:47back. I don' t remember exactly how long I' ve been walking.
- 0:51All I know is that I walked for hours following my hunting instinct.
- 0:56Sometimes I stopped to admire the landscape, the beauty of nature in its purest
- 1:00state. But when I wanted to go back, I realized I was completely
- 1:07lost. I tried to find my way back. At first I wasn'
- 1:12t really worried, because, although it was the first time I visited that
- 1:18part of the forest, I felt confident of my sense of orientation. At
- 1:23every step I took, however, I seemed to be further away from the
- 1:27starting point. The night was beginning to fall and the cold was getting more
- 1:34intense. I began to feel a chill running through my body. The darkness
- 1:38surrounded me and the fog made my vision difficult. That' s when I
- 1:42saw a light in the distance, a little lonely cabin, away from what
- 1:48anyone might think. That wasn' t so strange. After all, I
- 1:53had been raised in a similar place, so if the inhabitants of that cabin
- 1:57looked a little like my grandmother, then I was saved I approached her and
- 2:02noticed that I was in very bad shape. The wood was rotten and the
- 2:08door was wobbly with the wind. I noticed that what I had thought was
- 2:13light was nothing but the reflection of the moon through one of the windows.
- 2:19There was no doubt that that was not the best place to spend the night,
- 2:23but I had no choice. If anything my grandfather had taught me was
- 2:28to respect the forest at night. Also, I was sure that with the
- 2:32help of daylight I could regain my sense of orientation. So I entered the
- 2:39interior of the cabin was even worse there were cobwebs everywhere and the smell of
- 2:46moisture was unbearable. I realized that no one had lived there for a long
- 2:51time, but at least I would have a roof over my head and could
- 2:55rest a little, because I had to clean a little so I could light
- 3:00a small fire without fear that the cabin would burn down. While I was
- 3:05sleeping, I cooked the squirrels I had hunted and curled up next to that
- 3:08fire, to which I emitted a comforting heat, trying to keep the heat,
- 3:15but I couldn' t help but feel restless as if there was something
- 3:19else in the cabin with me. I lay down on the floor trying to
- 3:23sleep, but it was impossible for me. I was about to fall asleep
- 3:28when suddenly I began to hear strange noises inside the cabin as if something or
- 3:34someone was moving around me. It was almost like they were running, so
- 3:39I thought it was some animal. I got up quickly and looked around,
- 3:46but I didn' t see anything. I thought maybe it was my imagination
- 3:50playing a bad game, but then I heard it louder again. This time
- 3:57it was when I saw them a group of awful looking women with scruffy hair
- 4:02and wrinkled skin burst into the cabin. They were witches. There was no
- 4:09doubt. I got up immediately to flee, but quickly I was dominated,
- 4:15as the witches immobilized me and began to sing a strange ritual. They seemed
- 4:20to be singing satanic songs in Latin in some ancient language which, despite not
- 4:26understanding a single word of what they said, knew it could not be good.
- 4:32It wasn' t long ago when I realized I was being part of
- 4:35some sort of ritual and fear took over me. The witches took me to
- 4:42the center of the cabin, where there was a strange altar, to which
- 4:46I was sure it was not there. When I entered the cabin, they
- 4:49tied me there with strings and again began to sing in a language I did
- 4:55not understand. I was spinning around moving around me while I wasn' t
- 5:00struggling to free myself. Suddenly I felt as one of them approached me and
- 5:04pulled out a dagger. He made a long and deep cut across my forearm.
- 5:11The pain was unbearable, but luckily I managed to free myself because one
- 5:15of my arms was a little loose, so, taking advantage of an oversight
- 5:19of them, I suffused myself from the ropes and ran out of the cabin,
- 5:26ran as fast as my legs allowed me to. However, I could
- 5:30hear those horrible witches start chasing me screaming and cursing me in a strange language.
- 5:38I ran without looking back, trying to find the way out of the
- 5:43forest, but no matter how far it ran. The witches gave me no
- 5:46truce. They kept chasing me ever closer desperate to escape the witches who were
- 5:54chasing me. I ran unceasingly through the dense forest. The night was dark
- 5:59and the weeds made my advance difficult, but adrenaline and fear drove me forward
- 6:03at every step I could hear the terrifying screams of the witches echoing behind my
- 6:11back, which made me redouble my efforts, my lungs burned and my legs
- 6:16felt weak, but I knew I couldn' t give up. I went
- 6:21deeper into the weeds, trying to get lost in the trees and bushes to
- 6:27throw away my pursuers. My heart was pounding in my chest and the only
- 6:32hope I had was to find a safe hiding place where I could spend the
- 6:39night. Finally, I found a thick bush that seemed to offer enough coverage.
- 6:45I crouched and crawled into the weeds, striving not to make any noise
- 6:49that could give me away. I stood still without daring to move, as
- 6:56the witches ran all the way around me. The sound of his steps faded
- 7:01slowly, until finally only silence remained. I remained hidden in the bush,
- 7:10aware that I could not leave my hiding place until dawn. The cold of
- 7:15the night was clinging to my body, but I dared not move or light
- 7:18fire to not reveal my position. Time seemed to pass slowly. As I
- 7:26waited in the dark, every little noise made me shudder, fearing that the
- 7:31witches would find me again, but as the hours passed, the calm took
- 7:36hold of the forest and the light of dawn began to seep through the trees.
- 7:43Finally, when the first rays of the sun appeared on the horizon,
- 7:47I decided it was safe to leave my hiding place with caution, I got
- 7:54up and started walking looking for my way back home. Although I was exhausted
- 7:59and l n erno. The determination to return to the safety of my home
- 8:03impelled me to move forward. Step by step, I tracked the ground using
- 8:09the knowledge my grandfather had conveyed to me. Finally, after a great deal
- 8:16of effort, I managed to find the right way and set out on my
- 8:20way home. The relief took hold of me seeing the well- known landscapes
- 8:24and feeling the familiarity of the place. As I walked away from the forest
- 8:28and approached my people, I was deeply grateful to have managed to escape the
- 8:33clutches of witches. When he got there, he was exhausted and trembling with
- 8:39fear. I met the villagers and told them what had happened to me in
- 8:43the woods. They looked at me with astonishment and fear and told me that
- 8:48the legend of the forest witches was well known in the region. I was
- 8:54told that many years ago, when the settlers arrived in that area, it
- 8:58was rumored that the witches lived in the forest. Legend has it that witches
- 9:03performed dark rituals and human sacrifices to gain power and wealth. People feared going
- 9:09into the forest and many disappeared without a trace. Since then it is said
- 9:16that witches continue to dwell in the forest and that they are always looking for
- 9:20new victims for their dark rituals. I was told that I was lucky to
- 9:26have escaped alive, as most people entering the forest are never seen again.
- 9:33That night I stayed in town, but I couldn' t sleep the images
- 9:37of the witches and their dark ritual were chasing me. I knew I could
- 9:43never forget what I had lived in the woods. Since then I have never
- 9:48again hunted in that place and warned everyone I knew to stay away from the
- 9:52forest and the abandoned cabin. After my chilling encounter with witches in the woods,
- 9:58my life changed completely. I became cautious and distrustful, always aware of
- 10:05any sign of danger. The nightmares about that night tormented me constantly, reminding
- 10:13me how close I was to losing my life. After a long period of
- 10:18time, I began to believe that the witches and their dark ritual were only
- 10:22part of a nightmare that had been left behind. I was determined to leave
- 10:28all that in the past and resume my normal life. However, fate had
- 10:33other plans for me. It was on a cold and rainy night that I
- 10:39had a disturbing encounter with the witches again. I was walking through the lonely
- 10:45streets of town trying to clear my mind and forget the disturbing memories. Suddenly
- 10:50I felt a penetrating look that seemed to burn my back. I turned quickly
- 10:56and found myself face to face with a dark, sinister figure. She was
- 11:01a witch with her scruffy hair and her menacing look. I was paralyzed for
- 11:07a moment without knowing how to react. The witch smiled at me maliciously and
- 11:15before I could say, a word disappeared in the darkness of the night.
- 11:20From that moment on, the witches' apparitions became more and more frequent in
- 11:24my life. It didn' t matter where I was. I always felt
- 11:30his presence. Even in broad daylight, I could see shadows, move unexplainedly,
- 11:35and hear sinister murmurs all around me. One night while trying to convince
- 11:43me that all that was nothing but the product of my imagination, I woke
- 11:48up startled. Hearing disturbing murmurs all around me. I opened my eyes slowly,
- 11:54feeling a chill running around my back. To my horror, I was
- 12:00surrounded once again by witches. The witches were there with their pale faces and
- 12:05their penetrating eyes nailed into me, their sinister laughter resounding in the air Filling
- 12:11me with deep fear, I felt as if I was trapped in a nightmare
- 12:16from which I could not escape. I tried to back off looking for a
- 12:22way out, but the witches were getting closer and closer, closing the circle
- 12:26around me. Malicious whispers filled my ears, Their voices interwoven in a cacophony
- 12:33of evil. I felt my heart pounding as despair gripped me. I woke
- 12:41up all of a sudden soaked in sweat and with my heart pounding wildly,
- 12:48tried to calm down, telling me that it had all been just a dream,
- 12:54a vivid nightmare that had led me to the brink of panic. However,
- 12:56an intense burning on my back reminded me that even more was happening.
- 13:01I got up quickly and ran to the bathroom to inspect my back in the
- 13:07mirror. There, in horror, I saw a series of roughly drawn cuts
- 13:11forming an inverted staff in my skin. The staff was surrounded by red inflammation
- 13:18and seemed to burn with invisible fire. My mind was filled with confusion and
- 13:24fear how this had happened. I didn' t remember making those cuts,
- 13:31let alone plotting a staff on my own back. It had been the work
- 13:35of the witches. They had left a mark on me to remind me of
- 13:41their constant presence, for from that day my health began to deteriorate quickly.
- 13:48I developed fevers, high fevers, intense body pains and a constant weakness.
- 13:54No doctor was able to find an explanation for my condition and the medical tests
- 14:00s da revealed nothing. Out of the ordinary. The disease seemed to feed
- 14:05on my energy and vitality. Leaving me more and more weakened, I plunged
- 14:09into a spiral of despair. As I struggled to find a cure or a
- 14:15way to reverse the effects of that cursed staff. I searched tirelessly for ancient
- 14:20books. I consulted experts in the occult and tried various purification rituals, but
- 14:26nothing seemed to work. The staff was still marked on my back, preventing
- 14:33me from regaining my health and normal life. Over time, I realized that
- 14:37the solution would not come from conventional sources. I went into the darkest of
- 14:43magic, searching for answers in dangerous and forbidden places, faced supernatural creatures,
- 14:50crossed boundaries that I never imagined crossing and risked my own sanity. My body
- 14:56and mind became a field of error, a battle between sickness and my will
- 15:01to live. Every day was a constant struggle. As the staff on my
- 15:07back became more prominent and the discomfort intensified. With every passing day, my
- 15:13health weakened even more I felt as my vital energy drained slowly, leaving me
- 15:20exhausted and on the verge of collapse, the staff on my back became more
- 15:26and more prominent, as if it were growing and spreading through my skin.
- 15:31One day. As he passed in front of an old church. A priest
- 15:35overtook me and stopped me. His eyes reflected with passion and concern. Watching
- 15:41my sick state. Without a word, he invited me into church saying he
- 15:48could help me. Intrigued and desperate to find some form of relief. I
- 15:54accepted his offer and followed him inside the church. Once inside, the priest
- 16:00began to pray fervently, invoking divine protection upon me. As his words resounded
- 16:07in the air, a strange sensation took hold of my skin. I began
- 16:12to feel intense itching, as if millions of tiny insects were walking under my
- 16:18epidermis. The discomfort became unbearable, but the priest did not stop praying focusing
- 16:25on his task with determination. My body began to twist involuntarily, unable to
- 16:32withstand the sensation that invaded me and then, without warning, I vomited.
- 16:37A black and viscous substance came out of my mouth in large quantities, leaving
- 16:44a disgusting trail on the church floor. The priest did not show fear or
- 16:49disgust, but continued to pray even more fervently as if he were waging a
- 16:56spiritual battle. The black substance seemed not to have at last, coming out
- 17:00of me in a grotesque dance of repulsion. I felt like something evil,
- 17:06leaving my body like the curse that plagued me was gradually expelled every time I
- 17:11threw up. My discomfort diminished and with it a small part of the darkness
- 17:17that consumed me faded away. Finally, when there was nothing left to expel,
- 17:23I collapsed on the floor, exhausted and relieved. The priest approached me
- 17:30with an expression of relief on his face and offered me his hand to help
- 17:33me rise gratefully, I accepted his help and stood up feeling lighter and free
- 17:40from the burden I had complained for so long. Although the priest had freed
- 17:47me from the oppressive presence of witches, nightmares persisted in my mind. Night
- 17:52after night, I was immersed in a dark world of stormy dreams. In
- 17:59those nightmares, the witches chased me back with their malevolent laughter and their hateful
- 18:04eyes. I saw them lurking in the shadows watching me with an insatiable thirst
- 18:11for revenge. His distorted and grotesque image was engraved in my mind and I
- 18:17could feel terror and impotence taking over me. They chased me through dark forests,
- 18:22throwing curses and spells that sought to trap me in their sinister domain.
- 18:29However, as the days passed, I noticed that nightmares began to fade slowly.
- 18:37They were becoming less frequent and less intense. It seemed that the darkness
- 18:41that had taken root within me was dissipating, as was the staff on my
- 18:47back. Eventually, the staff, which had previously been an open wound,
- 18:52began to heal the skin around the cuts regenerated and gradually the marks disappeared.
- 19:02It was as if the symbol of my torment faded along with nightmares, leaving
- 19:06room for healing and renewal. As the staff faded away, so did nightmares.
- 19:15The darkness that had been plagued my mind began to give way to the
- 19:19light of hope and strength. While I could still remember the horrors experienced and
- 19:26feel some restlessness in my heart, I knew that I was on the way
- 19:30to recovery. With the support of the priest and my own determination, I
- 19:34managed to overcome the nightmares that had tormented me for so long I learned to
- 19:41face my fears and resist the destructive power of witches. While the battle wasn
- 19:47' t easy, I realized it was stronger than I thought. These days,
- 19:52nightmares are just a bum. I remember, although witches can cross my
- 19:57mind in moments of vulnerability, I do not allow their presence to control me.
- 20:03I have found peace within myself and am committed to living my life without
- 20:07being a slave to fear. Anonymous account
