- 0:04Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted is a production of the NHL and iHeart podcasts.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It is episode thirty seven of NHL Unscripted, Coming at
- 0:22Speaker 1: you after a laughering Game three, another epic game for it.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It's ridiculous how good these playoffs are? Plus talk with
- 0:28Speaker 1: the Heart trophy?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Are you kidding me?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Hella buck wins the Heart and the visitor? Come on
- 0:32Speaker 1: and congrats to Gavin McKenna and happy Trails, Holy Mackina
- 0:36Speaker 1: to Joe Bowden. We'll talk about that, but first before
- 0:38Speaker 1: we get to the crazy game, tea swizzle cal Pickard.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I want more travel stories. Jason new Burg is recording
- 0:43Speaker 1: this at ten thirty Eastern on Friday night, after from
- 0:46Speaker 1: assuming a full day of travel from Sunrise to Edmonton.
- 0:49Speaker 2: How did it go? I was good, without a hitch,
- 0:52Speaker 2: first class all the way. Yeah. I was on the
- 0:56Speaker 2: plane with a couple of the refs from Game four
- 1:00Speaker 2: and it was had a couple of good conversations with
- 1:03Speaker 2: them and asking them about some of the calls and
- 1:07Speaker 2: what they saw, and you know, they kind they kind
- 1:10Speaker 2: of were their arms up in the air a little bit,
- 1:12Speaker 2: and uh, you know, they're trying their best and they
- 1:15Speaker 2: kind of set up there, like, listen, this this series
- 1:17Speaker 2: is like every shift somebody takes a one minute penalty
- 1:21Speaker 2: and he's like.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Is it a Vader Kin specifically that you're asking?
- 1:24Speaker 2: No, he didn't. I just asked like in general, I'm like,
- 1:26Speaker 2: how's it been to call this? And he's like, every
- 1:28Speaker 2: every shift is a one minute penalty. And he's like
- 1:31Speaker 2: he's like, we give we we'd be whistling the whole game,
- 1:33Speaker 2: even though he's like, we called a ton the last
- 1:36Speaker 2: few games. And he's like, we've even like we're trying
- 1:38Speaker 2: to stay away from it and let you know, let
- 1:40Speaker 2: them play and you know, call it within the rules
- 1:43Speaker 2: and and all that. But it's just crazy. It's like
- 1:45Speaker 2: it's a little chaotic of a series. You know, it's
- 1:48Speaker 2: been great, you know, I I games three and four
- 1:51Speaker 2: where you know that the end result of four was
- 1:54Speaker 2: kind very exciting, but you know, just like horrible first
- 1:57Speaker 2: period by Edmonton, horrible period by Florida in the second,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and then it kind of evens out. But anyway, back
- 2:02Speaker 2: to the travel day, it was pretty I was sitting
- 2:04Speaker 2: next to micro up the whole way. George Paris was there.
- 2:07Speaker 2: We were sitting shooting the ship shooting the breeze. We
- 2:10Speaker 2: had a forty minute layover in salt Lake because they
- 2:12Speaker 2: just kind of created this Edmonton to salt Lake one way.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So it was great. It was really not as crazy
- 2:19Speaker 2: as last time. Was still up at you know, was
- 2:22Speaker 2: out of the rink at one in the morning, up
- 2:24Speaker 2: at four point thirty, and then got in at you
- 2:28Speaker 2: know whatever time Edmonton three pm. Went right to golf
- 2:31Speaker 2: for nine holes.
- 2:32Speaker 1: What a machine, I thought.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, shot a forty shot of forty two and on
- 2:38Speaker 2: the front on the nine and had a couple of cocktails.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Went back to Royal Mayfair my spot Matt Johnson GM there,
- 2:45Speaker 2: amazing guy hooked me up. We uh had a couple
- 2:49Speaker 2: of drinky poos and then I came back and I'm
- 2:51Speaker 2: on with you schmucks.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Big question from tal how does the guy rupper size
- 2:57Speaker 1: handle an airplane seat?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh? Just his hips are locked up by the end
- 3:03Speaker 2: of that. But I mean he first, you know, first class.
- 3:05Speaker 2: By the NHL throwing us on there, at least they
- 3:07Speaker 2: could do is throw us on. You know, when we're
- 3:10Speaker 2: taking sixty five flights just to get to Edmonton, we
- 3:12Speaker 2: could be first class. And you know, white people problem
- 3:15Speaker 2: and first world problems, but I'll take it. I ain't complaining.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I ain't complaining. The last thing I ain't too.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Proud of BG Was he not great song Temptations?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Was Eja there or no? No, EJ was not. But
- 3:28Speaker 2: he drove me home from the game last Sight, and
- 3:31Speaker 2: I kind of as it's like a thirty minute drive,
- 3:34Speaker 2: and I was kind of like, hey, EJ, we're going
- 3:37Speaker 2: back to Edmonton, like your boy, you know, Terry, the
- 3:40Speaker 2: guy that kind of supposed to drive you to him
- 3:42Speaker 2: from the rink, and you know, there's a little bit
- 3:45Speaker 2: of a missap and I just wanted to fire him
- 3:48Speaker 2: up again. So I got him going a little bit.
- 3:49Speaker 2: But he's like, hey, listen, you know, you know, it's
- 3:57Speaker 2: not like I want to go, but you know he's
- 4:00Speaker 2: he came down and he's going to be here. He's
- 4:02Speaker 2: lock stocked in town. I invited him out to golf
- 4:05Speaker 2: could make it because he's a big avid golfer. Two
- 4:08Speaker 2: so but he played. Yeah, I think he ended up
- 4:09Speaker 2: playing like Turnberry in Florida twice. So he had a great,
- 4:12Speaker 2: great little run in Florida, great great run by him.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Me and Ken Danico. Today we're gonna get to your
- 4:18Speaker 1: nine minute demo.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Fantastic.
- 4:20Speaker 1: How do you fill up an hour show? Do we
- 4:21Speaker 1: have a demo from Jason Demris?
- 4:22Speaker 3: We do?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yes, him, Mike Rup net Front presence you and Schneide's unbelievable.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Mike Johnson got the skates on again. Daniel was giving
- 4:32Speaker 1: you a private Dana call.
- 4:32Speaker 2: You can be honest.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You want to rip jd tell me?
- 4:34Speaker 4: He said, no, I can't.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I can't quite do it. Dan.
- 4:36Speaker 1: What I liked about it was, you know, lift the
- 4:38Speaker 1: stick up. He's like, too often these guys don't do it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Jason's right, you gotta lift that stick up.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Get it up there.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, Dana like he's ready to get
- 4:46Speaker 1: out of the ice right now. This is enough, these
- 4:49Speaker 1: old little moves. These guys do good Dutch stick up
- 4:51Speaker 1: and He's right, listen, can't screen the goalie. The two screens,
- 4:55Speaker 1: that's the problem. Get out of the way. Either block
- 4:57Speaker 1: it or get out of the way. It's ken, Danico,
- 4:59Speaker 1: approve of your demo. By the way, Wow, shut up
- 5:00Speaker 1: to Bower.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Bower ha finally doing what they need to do. Still
- 5:07Speaker 2: waiting on my endorsement deal, Still waiting on a little
- 5:10Speaker 2: bit of cash, but yeah, you got it. Listen, I
- 5:13Speaker 2: was a smart player. I just might have been in
- 5:15Speaker 2: the pub a little bit too much and uh not
- 5:17Speaker 2: minding my p's and q's. But fuck, when I was
- 5:20Speaker 2: out there, I was tight, tight on the ice. I
- 5:23Speaker 2: knew every trick in the book, every dirty trick, because
- 5:25Speaker 2: I was I wasn't the fastest, wasn't the strongest, But
- 5:28Speaker 2: by golly g whiz, was I the smartest out on
- 5:31Speaker 2: that seven hundred exactly. So let's get to the game.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I want you honest answer, because I see a Daniel
- 5:37Speaker 1: when I saw three nothing. Okay, this may not go
- 5:39Speaker 1: back to Florida like that, This might be done in five.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Like that's nine to one now in four straight periods.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Florida is a wagon. Sandford a pell Your boy was like, No,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I knew it was gonna keep going. No, you didn't
- 5:49Speaker 1: three Sandford tell Sandford, he goes, No, I knew everything.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You did not admit to a comeback. Maybe didn't think
- 5:54Speaker 1: the game was over, but you did not go even
- 5:56Speaker 1: three one. You go, Florida'll score four to one. Did
- 5:59Speaker 1: you see it coming when you're watching unfold? Did you
- 6:01Speaker 1: have any inkling this Oilers team was gonna come back
- 6:04Speaker 1: and make it three and then four to a tie
- 6:05Speaker 1: with nineteen seconds left.
- 6:07Speaker 2: No, we were all looking at that being like after
- 6:09Speaker 2: that was the worst first period a team could have
- 6:11Speaker 2: played in the Stanley Cup Finals I've ever seen in
- 6:14Speaker 2: my life. A man, let me tell you this, all right,
- 6:17Speaker 2: let me tell you this about this game. I thought
- 6:21Speaker 2: one thousand percent that game was over after the first period.
- 6:24Speaker 2: You could not have had a worse start than the
- 6:27Speaker 2: Tinoiler's had and the worst first period. I mean, they
- 6:29Speaker 2: were taking on water like it was nobody's business. They
- 6:32Speaker 2: left out, They left old poor Stewart Skinner out to dry.
- 6:35Speaker 2: That was not his fault. All capped by poor Troy
- 6:38Speaker 2: Stetcher getting hammered in the head with a cross check
- 6:41Speaker 2: and then being dashed one and then playing fourteen seconds
- 6:44Speaker 2: after that. So it was not a great first period.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You know, we all expected up top league, you have
- 6:50Speaker 2: to put cal pickard in the net, you have to
- 6:52Speaker 2: throw them in there kind of get something going. We
- 6:55Speaker 2: were like, there's gonna be trash cans being thrown. We're
- 6:57Speaker 2: gonna see if this team can respond. But for me,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I was like, let's take our ninety second hit me
- 7:01Speaker 2: and kt Catherine tappan, let's get the hell out of here.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And wow, did they turn it around. And I don't
- 7:07Speaker 2: know what it is about this Edmonton Oilers team, but
- 7:10Speaker 2: they just like they look god awful and then they're
- 7:12Speaker 2: able to like, I don't know, it's a dumpster fire
- 7:16Speaker 2: of a game, and then they wrangle this back, they
- 7:18Speaker 2: chip away, they end up winning it overtime, and it's
- 7:22Speaker 2: just crazy with five defensemen, which you got to give
- 7:25Speaker 2: a big shout out to the defenseman Portroy Stetcher, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 2: getting scratched fourteen seconds of ice time in the second
- 7:31Speaker 2: period and then he was parked on the bench. But
- 7:33Speaker 2: Darnell Nurse, Jake Wallman, you know, they really kind of
- 7:38Speaker 2: battled hard. You know, there was a lot of turnovers,
- 7:40Speaker 2: a lot of mistakes by Edmonton, but they just battled hard.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And what can you say about cal Pickard seven and zero?
- 7:45Speaker 2: The Stanley Cup Playoffs comes in in relief, gives them goaltending.
- 7:49Speaker 2: The street hockey ebug goaltender of the nineties comes in.
- 7:53Speaker 2: He's kicking, kicking, like a goddamn whirling dervish out there,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and I know that doesn't make any sense, but don't worry, folks.
- 7:59Speaker 2: He was so good. I loved everything about his game.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And then you know the big credit up front. You know,
- 8:07Speaker 2: you know, defenseman, when you're playing five D sometimes you
- 8:10Speaker 2: get into a rhythm and it's actually better to play
- 8:13Speaker 2: five D for it. You can't do it over a
- 8:14Speaker 2: sustained amount of time, but for that that kind of game,
- 8:17Speaker 2: in that moment, five D was perfect. But then up
- 8:19Speaker 2: front you got the Pod coles In's, the Jeff Skinners
- 8:23Speaker 2: stepping up having fantastic hockey games. When in a game,
- 8:27Speaker 2: even though you know Leon dreisid on three points in
- 8:30Speaker 2: the game Winner, wasn't his best game, Like, I don't
- 8:33Speaker 2: think it was his best game by any stretch of
- 8:35Speaker 2: the imagination. Connor McDavid as well, they had some flashes
- 8:38Speaker 2: of brilliance, which they do, but they weren't the greatest
- 8:42Speaker 2: of games. But their depth once again comes through, picks
- 8:45Speaker 2: up some big goals and just they found a way
- 8:48Speaker 2: to wrestle this back. And now it's two to two
- 8:51Speaker 2: going to Rogers Place. That building is gonna be a
- 8:54Speaker 2: fucking zoo tomorrow, barn animals everywhere, screaming, yelling, point going
- 8:58Speaker 2: woof all that shit. It's gonna be crazy a bunch
- 9:01Speaker 2: of mutants in there, and I love every second of
- 9:03Speaker 2: it because those Oilers fans are ready to go. They're
- 9:06Speaker 2: going to be drunk at right now. Probably I left
- 9:09Speaker 2: Rogers Place is gonna be rocking. The fans are going
- 9:11Speaker 2: to be blow the roof up the place. I saw
- 9:14Speaker 2: Craig McTavish at the golf course. He's ready to go.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He can't wait. Mac T mac t no bucket, no dome,
- 9:20Speaker 2: HDECKI no domo.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Two things about mac T no helmet plus taking out
- 9:26Speaker 1: Harvey the Hound's tongue on the great moments. Ever, when
- 9:28Speaker 1: it comes to mascot at violence, Yeah, we'll get to
- 9:30Speaker 1: get to Picker and Leon in just a second, but
- 9:32Speaker 1: towly once to know, and I'm sure people at home
- 9:34Speaker 1: want to know. Did you get to meet Taylor Swift
- 9:36Speaker 1: or Travis kelce No?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Fuck those two? Why would I want to meet Why
- 9:45Speaker 2: would I want to meet these two people? We have
- 9:47Speaker 2: nothing in common. There would be no relatable moment.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I'm not if Travis kelcey.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, great, Hey, what's up? What's it? Other than what's up?
- 9:56Speaker 2: What's up?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Hey?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Cool? Bro? Like I'm not the biggest I'm not an
- 10:00Speaker 2: enormous football fan. Respect a lot of respect to what
- 10:03Speaker 2: he does. But you know, are we gonna go play
- 10:05Speaker 2: you know, bochi ball on the weekends and play crib
- 10:08Speaker 2: in the Hamptons? I don't think so, because I'm not
- 10:10Speaker 2: on the same level as them, So why the hell
- 10:12Speaker 2: would I even want to entertain the fact of going
- 10:14Speaker 2: to shake hands with them? I could give a shit.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I got my own stuff. I love this tape.
- 10:18Speaker 1: You tell me, Jill's not like a tailor Swift fan.
- 10:20Speaker 2: There's no girls, No, we have zero. We have zero
- 10:24Speaker 2: for those two. Like if we met him and they're
- 10:26Speaker 2: good people and we hung out, had some drinks together.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But if they asked me if we were hanging out
- 10:30Speaker 2: them and somebody's like, are you Taylor Swift fan, I'm like, no,
- 10:32Speaker 2: I don't really know any of her songs. My Jill
- 10:34Speaker 2: doesn't either. We like the nineteen seventy five I like
- 10:37Speaker 2: busting the Bass. You know that gets my That gets
- 10:40Speaker 2: my my my, you know, that gets me up in
- 10:44Speaker 2: the morning, that makes me go from six to midnight,
- 10:46Speaker 2: Busting the bass, Saint Paul and the Broken Bones nineteen
- 10:50Speaker 2: seventy five, I like that. I like that jazzy music,
- 10:53Speaker 2: So you know, I don't like that pop shit. And
- 10:55Speaker 2: then Travis Kelcey listen, he went from the you know,
- 10:58Speaker 2: he went from the most Oh, this is a tough
- 11:01Speaker 2: one house.
- 11:03Speaker 4: What do you oh?
- 11:04Speaker 2: He really took a one eighty on his type of girls,
- 11:06Speaker 2: and it's kind of switched his whole whole persona. You know,
- 11:09Speaker 2: he was very like I don't want to say thuggish
- 11:11Speaker 2: because that's gonna get me in trouble, but you know,
- 11:13Speaker 2: he talked with a certain tone and was had a
- 11:17Speaker 2: specific type of girl that he liked. And then he
- 11:21Speaker 2: one EIGHTI with Taylor Swift and now all.
- 11:23Speaker 1: As like Tupac and thug life to like Elton John, Like, what.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Are you trying to say? Yeah, well, look at his hair.
- 11:27Speaker 2: He's growing. He looks like Goldilocks. He's wearing short shorts now,
- 11:30Speaker 2: and he's walking around with like a sequence outfits you're
- 11:34Speaker 2: talking about, Like, tell me put the pictures of him
- 11:38Speaker 2: side by side of the last five years before and
- 11:41Speaker 2: after Taylor's meeting Taylor Swift and tell me there's not
- 11:44Speaker 2: a difference there. Well, dude, in our group, Jack T'll
- 11:47Speaker 2: find it out. I'm just saying, I'm like, you know, like, listen,
- 11:51Speaker 2: I would too for a billion dollars. Why not come
- 11:54Speaker 2: on love on the spec you know, love how spect
- 11:58Speaker 2: I didn't say that. I did not say love on
- 12:01Speaker 2: the spectrum. Don't you don't you dare fair? Don't put
- 12:05Speaker 2: don't put that evil on me?
- 12:07Speaker 1: All right, let's do Leon on change breaking free is
- 12:10Speaker 1: try to the dead side, Leon, try suddle this time?
- 12:17Speaker 4: This series?
- 12:18Speaker 2: What is fourth?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Oh t winner of the playoffs, Final Star and the.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Ten five Florida four and.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Over time he of the playoffs no playoff overtime goals
- 12:35Speaker 1: in his career has for these playoffs new all time
- 12:38Speaker 1: record for single postseason. He breaks a tie with Matthew Chuck,
- 12:41Speaker 1: Corey Perry, Maurice re Short and Mel Hill. Your boy
- 12:44Speaker 1: joy Sell now has the same number of playoff overtime
- 12:46Speaker 1: goals in his career as Wayne Gretzky, Yarmer Yager, Mark Tansey, Lawi,
- 12:50Speaker 1: Patrice burg Run and Joeevelski. Also four one more playoff
- 12:54Speaker 1: overtime goal, he'll be tied for third all time with
- 12:56Speaker 1: Glenn Anderson, Perry Brad marsha and Patrick Kane and Carter Verhagen.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Right now, for the con smythe if the Panthers win,
- 13:03Speaker 1: we know it's me, Sam Bennett. If the Oilers win
- 13:05Speaker 1: right now, the slight favorite is dry Seal.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Him and McDavid both have three two points.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Dry Sell has eleven goals, McDavid has six.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Are you on board with me that?
- 13:13Speaker 1: If the Oilers win, dry sells the cons Smith I had.
- 13:15Speaker 2: A big David. Here's my thought, and here's my hot take.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Let's say you play cal Pickard the rest of the way.
- 13:23Speaker 2: He wins the next two games.
- 13:25Speaker 1: That's that's ridiculous. The goalie is not gonna get it.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He wins the next two games. He's nine and oh
- 13:30Speaker 2: in the playoffs. Okay, you're telling me you're gonna sit there,
- 13:34Speaker 2: You're gonna sit there. This an eight ninety six a percent.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I don't give shit.
- 13:38Speaker 1: He's nine and oh n he's seven oh right now,
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's a great if he runs the table the postseason,
- 13:46Speaker 1: since Chris Oscar won nine straight, it's a great story.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But he's not playing the entire Stanley Cup Final. If
- 13:51Speaker 1: he played matter seven gate.
- 13:53Speaker 2: No, he's gonna play two and a half games.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's that's not We're all here.
- 13:57Speaker 2: For a story. We're all here for a story, and
- 13:59Speaker 2: that's the story. Nine and oh cal Pickard con smythe
- 14:04Speaker 2: all No, I listen, Leon's probably gonna win it. If
- 14:06Speaker 2: if Edmonton wins, Leon wins it. I mean it's really
- 14:09Speaker 2: quite simple. I mean I'm kind of sick of the
- 14:11Speaker 2: awards stuff because I know it's a couple of awards
- 14:14Speaker 2: this year. Yeah, the Heart Trophy and a few other ones.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I mean, it's like, what's the point, Let's just let's
- 14:19Speaker 2: just make it a popularity vote. It's fine, It's it's
- 14:22Speaker 2: all good. So yeah, the cons smite, It'll be Leon.
- 14:26Speaker 2: And if it's Florida right now, I would kind of
- 14:28Speaker 2: have a toss up between Sam Bennett, Brad Marsha and Turgibobrovskis,
- 14:32Speaker 2: So it'd be kind of those three and that Edmonton
- 14:34Speaker 2: would either be Connor or Leon. But I mean it's
- 14:37Speaker 2: hard not to argue that it's Leon right now running
- 14:39Speaker 2: away with it.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Let me ask you this about Picker, because you're all
- 14:41Speaker 1: in on this guy. He stops twenty two or twenty
- 14:43Speaker 1: three shots, so there's no question Chris Nabloch pressed the
- 14:46Speaker 1: right lever.
- 14:47Speaker 2: That was the right move.
- 14:49Speaker 1: All of a sudden, this turns the scheme around. Do
- 14:50Speaker 1: you think Pickard's now the guy the rest of the way,
- 14:53Speaker 1: because I'm not entirely convinced. If Pickard has a bad
- 14:56Speaker 1: first period, I think you'd go to Skinner or do
- 14:58Speaker 1: you think it's Picker the rest of.
- 14:59Speaker 2: The way, Spice, I listen. I The one thing the game,
- 15:07Speaker 2: the one thing I was talking with Rupper about was like,
- 15:11Speaker 2: Edmonton wins that game in overtime, and I feel like
- 15:13Speaker 2: there's between the two teams. They won that game, but
- 15:18Speaker 2: there's like a million questions about lineup for that team
- 15:21Speaker 2: versus like Florida. You're like, they're rolling out Florida like
- 15:23Speaker 2: you're rolling out the same lineup again. No one's getting
- 15:26Speaker 2: changed Edmonton. I'm like, who the hell's is? Like, you're
- 15:28Speaker 2: putting Arbington back in? Is Klingberg coming in? Are you
- 15:31Speaker 2: putting Skinner in? It's like the most convoluted win I've
- 15:35Speaker 2: ever seen in my life, because you're like, can they
- 15:37Speaker 2: win with that exact lineup? I don't know. You can't
- 15:39Speaker 2: play five D do you put Klingberg back in? But
- 15:42Speaker 2: you know, what are you gonna do if you put
- 15:43Speaker 2: Klingberg back in? Because Darnell Nurse has this great game?
- 15:46Speaker 2: They gave him more minutes, he played better, do you
- 15:49Speaker 2: reduce his minutes again? Do you put him with Bouchard?
- 15:53Speaker 2: What do you do up front? You put Perry up
- 15:55Speaker 2: top because they had those four lines rolled out and
- 15:57Speaker 2: he threw it in a fucking blender within a minute
- 15:59Speaker 2: and a half. Because they're the worst team of all
- 16:01Speaker 2: time to start the game. So it's like, really, you're
- 16:03Speaker 2: just sitting there like there's so many question marks. But
- 16:06Speaker 2: I think in net, for me, i'll bias deside. I
- 16:11Speaker 2: feel like it's probably gonna be as tough as decision
- 16:13Speaker 2: is in the net because you go it's it's the
- 16:15Speaker 2: whole starts game five, though, the whole Stanley Cup's gonna
- 16:18Speaker 2: be judged on who's in nets for Edmonton, whether they
- 16:21Speaker 2: win or lose. If you put in Skinner and what
- 16:23Speaker 2: happens he gives up to do you pull him early again?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Or if you put Calvin Pickard and he gives up
- 16:27Speaker 2: to do you yankum? And then what happens if Calvin
- 16:30Speaker 2: Pickard has a good game but they lose and you
- 16:33Speaker 2: go into game six, do you go back to Skinner
- 16:35Speaker 2: vice versa Skinner loses again. It's there's so many questions,
- 16:39Speaker 2: So I think, you know, big Brass balls Chris Nabloch,
- 16:42Speaker 2: who makes some great decisions and it seems to always
- 16:46Speaker 2: work with him, so whatever decision he makes will work.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But if it's skinner, I assume the leash to be very,
- 16:53Speaker 2: very short. And it's tough because you look at all
- 16:57Speaker 2: the comments from the guys. They know not that these
- 17:02Speaker 2: guys are grant fewer, no, no, one hundred percent, but
- 17:05Speaker 2: do you see the comments like towards Calvin Pickard, like
- 17:07Speaker 2: Leon Dry said, are like, it's amazing. We love this guy.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Jake Walman, Oh my god, he's the biggest beauty ever
- 17:13Speaker 2: Pod Coles and we love him. We're so happy for him.
- 17:16Speaker 2: It's so amazing because she doesn't looking at the home
- 17:18Speaker 2: depot like you're like that he's an ebug. He's an
- 17:21Speaker 2: I love this guy. He's an ebug in a road
- 17:23Speaker 2: hockey goal he mixed together. It's the best thing ever.
- 17:26Speaker 2: But he's like he's just so like he's so reflex
- 17:30Speaker 2: oriented and he just trusts his reflexes and it works.
- 17:33Speaker 2: And I mean, I don't care under nine hundred. Above
- 17:36Speaker 2: nine hundred, you're winning games. He's seven and oh seven
- 17:38Speaker 2: and o nine and oh runs a table. Cons might
- 17:41Speaker 2: suck it.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Tell I think Pickard starts game five, I think it's
- 17:45Speaker 1: still game to game. To Jad's point, they get Pickered struggles,
- 17:47Speaker 1: they lose. Let Skinner starts game six.
- 17:49Speaker 2: How do you see it? Yeah, I mean I think
- 17:52Speaker 2: na Block has shown that. Excuse me, Like you said,
- 17:55Speaker 2: he's going to game to game, your excuse excuse me,
- 17:59Speaker 2: He's going game to game.
- 18:00Speaker 5: He's going minute to minute, shift to shift. That's not
- 18:02Speaker 5: just with the goaltending, That's what the whole lineup, right,
- 18:05Speaker 5: He's just throwing in different guys seeing what works. I mean,
- 18:09Speaker 5: there's no tomorrow here, right, so he's just gonna do
- 18:11Speaker 5: whatever he has to do to get that next shift,
- 18:13Speaker 5: get that next game. Clearly Pickered is the guy for
- 18:16Speaker 5: the next game. But like you said, if if he doesn't,
- 18:20Speaker 5: if he doesn't show out in game five, then I
- 18:23Speaker 5: could see Skinner getting right back in. And I could
- 18:25Speaker 5: see Skinner getting back in and absolutely playing his ass
- 18:29Speaker 5: off and looking fantastic out there, because he's done that
- 18:32Speaker 5: in these playoffs, looked horrible, and then get back in
- 18:34Speaker 5: there after a break and look like a standout franchise goalie.
- 18:38Speaker 5: So I don't know what to expect, but anything could
- 18:43Speaker 5: and should happen with Chris napplock.
- 18:46Speaker 1: One more thought for the Oilers, JD. Can you clean
- 18:48Speaker 1: up the goddamn penalty kill? Sixty six point two?
- 18:51Speaker 2: It's so bad. It's so bad.
- 18:52Speaker 1: So I got our great researchers that held it. Looks
- 18:55Speaker 1: like he was always peak of a team that won
- 18:57Speaker 1: Vegas couple of years ago.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Was seventy one point two so bad?
- 19:01Speaker 1: This would be historic when it's Stanley a couple of
- 19:03Speaker 1: the Pelicans. If you want to take more penalties in
- 19:05Speaker 1: the how many more minor penalties you gonna take?
- 19:07Speaker 2: I mean, I've never seen more high stickings of my life,
- 19:10Speaker 2: Like I just keep this, just don't even have a
- 19:12Speaker 2: stick at that point. If you're waving the white flag
- 19:15Speaker 2: like that and planting flags and trees, I mean, oh man,
- 19:19Speaker 2: it's there. Their penalty kill is so bad right now,
- 19:24Speaker 2: it's so bad at this point you might as well
- 19:26Speaker 2: put Connor and Leon out there and just say try
- 19:29Speaker 2: to go score and just make it a fucking Donny
- 19:31Speaker 2: Brook out there and just skate any way you want,
- 19:34Speaker 2: give up two on ones because it doesn't matter because
- 19:36Speaker 2: it's a coin flip. They're almost at a coin flip
- 19:38Speaker 2: where when they take a penalty. It's fifty to fifty
- 19:40Speaker 2: going in the net. That is horrendous. I mean those
- 19:44Speaker 2: goals that went the five on three was you know,
- 19:48Speaker 2: over commitment on the loss of the draw after by
- 19:51Speaker 2: Nuge and then you got to get a block, a
- 19:53Speaker 2: nice shot by Kichak you couldn't see Stuke couldn't see it.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Then that reinhard one. It's like they've been going into
- 19:59Speaker 2: that middle bumper all series long, and Boory Cappening and
- 20:06Speaker 2: Walman go right to the back post and Ryan Hartlake
- 20:09Speaker 2: didn't know what to do. He had so much goddamn
- 20:10Speaker 2: time and then ends up just going to the net.
- 20:13Speaker 2: So it's it's wild. I don't know what they're doing.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I feel bad for the pk 's or the PK
- 20:20Speaker 2: coach because if he's trying to put something out there
- 20:22Speaker 2: that's anything legitimate and he just doesn't have the personnel
- 20:25Speaker 2: or he's not teaching it the right way, I don't know,
- 20:29Speaker 2: but it's it's bad and they have no confidence right now.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's the problem they got it. They just have You
- 20:33Speaker 2: have to stay out of the box. You have to
- 20:34Speaker 2: play whistle to whistle stick on the ice and keep
- 20:37Speaker 2: it five on five as much as you can.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Yeah, both power play units for the Panthers are lethal.
- 20:42Speaker 1: It's not like all the first five come on from
- 20:44Speaker 1: no matter what they're gonna score. Like you said, there's
- 20:46Speaker 1: no confers evonton where they're doing.
- 20:48Speaker 2: It's terrible.
- 20:48Speaker 1: One more quick thought, by the way, on trophies and
- 20:50Speaker 1: consp myth, how about Daniell throwing this one in there?
- 20:52Speaker 2: He goes, what about Evan Bouchord?
- 20:54Speaker 1: I go what he's plus fifty thousand? When the conspy
- 20:56Speaker 1: at the end, it goes, I love him. Bouschbaum has
- 20:58Speaker 1: been great for this team. He goes, He'll throw a
- 21:00Speaker 1: couple of pizzas once in a while, but he plays
- 21:02Speaker 1: twenty nine minutes. Give the guy some love. Like that
- 21:03Speaker 1: sounds like a defense.
- 21:04Speaker 2: It's been talking.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Let's talk some awards. Jason Demurz, you were very upset
- 21:08Speaker 1: of it. Nikita kot Truck get screwed out of the
- 21:10Speaker 1: Ted after he won the Teddle. Excuse me, you knew
- 21:11Speaker 1: would not win the Heart. Connor Hallibuck wins it eighty
- 21:14Speaker 1: one first place votes, one thousand, three hundred and forty
- 21:17Speaker 1: six total points. Dry saw fifty three first place votes
- 21:20Speaker 1: twelve oh nine. So I mean relatively coast one hundred
- 21:23Speaker 1: and thirty points. Coach, your boy finished third, couldn't even
- 21:26Speaker 1: get a thousand points. Halibuk becomes the fourth goaling the
- 21:29Speaker 1: expansion Era to win the Heart Dominic Kashik, Joseh, Theodore
- 21:32Speaker 1: carry Price. He also ran within with the Vesmi all
- 21:35Speaker 1: agreed thirty one to thretey two. Bessi Levski got one
- 21:37Speaker 1: vote there.
- 21:38Speaker 2: So there's this theory.
- 21:39Speaker 1: You know, I get this in baseball as well, right, Hey,
- 21:41Speaker 1: why should a SIGG Award winner also win the MVP.
- 21:43Speaker 1: They have their own trophy. Why should Justin Berlin win MVP, etcetera.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You can make that same argument. I don't necessarily buy that,
- 21:48Speaker 1: like I do think if your numbers are that ridiculous,
- 21:50Speaker 1: you can win both theoretically. But it is funny JD.
- 21:53Speaker 1: When you look at those things like Hashik, Yeah, he
- 21:55Speaker 1: was unbelievable. He would carry the carcass of a Sabers
- 21:57Speaker 1: team towards the playoffic Yeah, this is all Hashging is amazing.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Theodore again had the unbelievable season. Carry Price. I get it,
- 22:04Speaker 1: and I know we're not supposed to keep the playoffs
- 22:06Speaker 1: in a part of the voting. I understand that aspect.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But to your point, if you're just looking at most valuable,
- 22:11Speaker 1: if I took a Halibuck from that Jets team, like,
- 22:12Speaker 1: there's still a good team, their playoff team. If I
- 22:15Speaker 1: took out dry Settle, even Mick David being hurt this year,
- 22:17Speaker 1: older is a good team. You tip your boy Koucher off.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Where would Lightning be without him frame to finish third?
- 22:22Speaker 1: I mean that is that's egregious.
- 22:26Speaker 2: It's a he was robbed again and even worse this time.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Uh yeah, he's at the bottom of whatever canal in
- 22:35Speaker 2: Tampa Bay. You could be at the writers and whoever
- 22:39Speaker 2: the hell votes from. I think everybody should be stripped
- 22:41Speaker 2: of their vote. Yes, and we should votes. How do
- 22:45Speaker 2: you win the Ted lindsay, so again, the players think
- 22:48Speaker 2: you're the best. The players just showed that everybody for
- 22:51Speaker 2: votes that votes for this is absolutely inept because the
- 22:54Speaker 2: players picked it. They see him the most, and they
- 22:57Speaker 2: play against him. They understand and they feel And to
- 23:00Speaker 2: your point with Connor, nothing against Connor l but yes
- 23:02Speaker 2: he's odds on VESNA. His numbers were just you know,
- 23:08Speaker 2: out of this world quick wins. But again, their team
- 23:12Speaker 2: was like team defense is one of the best in
- 23:14Speaker 2: the league. They had one of the most potent offenses,
- 23:16Speaker 2: want the best power play in the league. So he
- 23:18Speaker 2: had run support, he had a great team around him.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You know, Nikita Kutrov. Again, I always say, like operating
- 23:26Speaker 2: and orchestrating that offense from the wing the way he
- 23:28Speaker 2: does and is so amazing at at just you know, run,
- 23:33Speaker 2: everything runs through him. So for him to do what
- 23:36Speaker 2: he did this year, and if he wasn't there, I mean,
- 23:38Speaker 2: where would their power play be, where would where would
- 23:40Speaker 2: their offense be without him? I mean, he's like thirty
- 23:44Speaker 2: forty points ahead of everybody year in and year out,
- 23:46Speaker 2: and he can't even get into the top three. And sorry,
- 23:50Speaker 2: he's in the top three, but he can't even he
- 23:51Speaker 2: can't even get like enough first place votes. And it's
- 23:54Speaker 2: just it's just annoying, and it's honestly, it's just one
- 23:57Speaker 2: of those things like that's just a lack of respect
- 24:00Speaker 2: for Nikita Kutrov and I'm not really listening. I don't
- 24:03Speaker 2: think he gives. I don't think he cares. And yeah,
- 24:05Speaker 2: because we saw what he thinks about the All Star
- 24:07Speaker 2: Game and all that stuff, and I think that's the point.
- 24:09Speaker 2: That's not biting him in the ass.
- 24:10Speaker 1: He led the league in scoring the past two years
- 24:12Speaker 1: and can't come close to the park.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Think about that, I know, And you know, somebody made
- 24:17Speaker 2: a great point is like you look at people go,
- 24:18Speaker 2: well look carry Price Connor Helbuck. I'm like carry Price.
- 24:21Speaker 2: That Montreal Canadians teams was so bad and he like
- 24:25Speaker 2: dragged them to the playoffs. To your point, you know,
- 24:28Speaker 2: Connor didn't have to do that.
- 24:30Speaker 4: You know.
- 24:30Speaker 2: You now, if if Eric Conmery's in the nets, do
- 24:33Speaker 2: they make the playoffs? I don't know. But if you
- 24:35Speaker 2: put a Stuart Skinner in Winnipeg or at Calvin Pickard
- 24:39Speaker 2: in Winnipeg, I think their numbers are somewhat similar. They're
- 24:43Speaker 2: winning thirty five forty games with that team, and how
- 24:45Speaker 2: good that team was, because yeah, so it's just it's
- 24:49Speaker 2: it's tough. You don't like to see it, and it
- 24:51Speaker 2: is what it is. Guy's not getting the recognition. But
- 24:53Speaker 2: I'm glad he won the Ted Lindsay And honestly, listen
- 24:55Speaker 2: to Connor. He had the wins and you know, tied
- 24:58Speaker 2: the record for most wins, and he did some amazing
- 25:02Speaker 2: things in net and was so stout all year long.
- 25:05Speaker 2: So listen, we're splitting hairs. It goes to him. I'm
- 25:08Speaker 2: not like overly pissed. I'm just pissed at the respect
- 25:11Speaker 2: for coach. And it wasn't closer because I figured he
- 25:15Speaker 2: wasn't gonna win it anyway. He's gonna get screwed like
- 25:17Speaker 2: Brett Hart in Montreal or the WWE. But reference, I
- 25:21Speaker 2: just don't think he gets enough respect.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Especially when it comes to first place votes. Hell about
- 25:27Speaker 1: eighty one twy cell fifty three coach at twenty five,
- 25:29Speaker 1: Like that's quite.
- 25:30Speaker 2: A disc puke.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Bill Lindsay one of our favorite guys at NHL Network.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Billion Lindsay knows in a breakdown video he's always great
- 25:36Speaker 1: on film, watching games. Look at this, look at this,
- 25:38Speaker 1: look at this, and especially loving his.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Bloody Florida Panthers.
- 25:41Speaker 1: JD breaking it down with Bill Lindsay coming up after
- 25:43Speaker 1: this year and unscripted. All right, we're gonna talk a
- 25:57Speaker 1: little Joe Bowen here into a second, plus a little
- 25:59Speaker 1: Chris Pridor conversation and is hockey coming back to Atlanta?
- 26:02Speaker 1: What a three billion dollar mix juice facility. But first,
- 26:06Speaker 1: Bill Lindsay, one of our favorites NHL lewic I mean,
- 26:08Speaker 1: the guy cried for God's sake from the Florida Panthers
- 26:09Speaker 1: won the Stanley Cup. Nobody loves the Panthers more than
- 26:11Speaker 1: Bill Lindsay and JD. You get to hang out with Billy, right, Yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: We interviewed him for Stanley Cup Live, just the Sweetye Pie,
- 26:17Speaker 2: and he was part of a ticket giveaway to Jamie Pardo,
- 26:23Speaker 2: the chief, the fire chief at a firehouse very close
- 26:28Speaker 2: that services Amatebank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. And it's a
- 26:33Speaker 2: great interview and he talks about it and I implore
- 26:36Speaker 2: people to go check out Jamie Pardo and that ticket
- 26:39Speaker 2: give away. So listen in and enjoy.
- 26:41Speaker 6: Well, we just rolled off the top of our show.
- 26:43Speaker 3: You go into that local fire station surprising the local
- 26:47Speaker 3: captain with tickets.
- 26:47Speaker 6: What was that experience like for you to get back
- 26:49Speaker 6: to the community.
- 26:50Speaker 4: There was nerve wracking actually to meet Captain Jamie Pardo.
- 26:53Speaker 4: And these guys are the real heroes.
- 26:54Speaker 7: To win the Stanley Coup, it takes passion, dedication, all
- 26:58Speaker 7: your effort at work. And he was the Educator of
- 27:00Speaker 7: the Year not only for down here but nationwide. Wow,
- 27:03Speaker 7: Like this is amazing achievement. Very humble guy, but you
- 27:07Speaker 7: could tell after a couple of minutes of meeting them
- 27:09Speaker 7: he had all those streets that he was gonna go
- 27:12Speaker 7: willing And there's probably days he probably thought this is
- 27:15Speaker 7: this is pretty tough, but he kept going in being
- 27:17Speaker 7: in that fire hall and they're doing it to save lives,
- 27:21Speaker 7: like winning the Stanley Cup is awesome and you gotta
- 27:24Speaker 7: have a brotherhood, but they're walking into buildings emt our
- 27:27Speaker 7: first responders and they're doing it for real, and if
- 27:30Speaker 7: you don't have the trust but for the guy beside you, like,
- 27:33Speaker 7: people die in that situation. So they're just truly an
- 27:37Speaker 7: incredible man. Humbled to meet him and the sacrifice that
- 27:41Speaker 7: he was able to put through and to be in
- 27:42Speaker 7: that fire hole. Those men and women and Captain Jamie Parto,
- 27:45Speaker 7: they're heroes.
- 27:46Speaker 2: And did you feel like it was a hockey locker
- 27:49Speaker 2: of like a team atmosphere? Because I watched that video.
- 27:52Speaker 2: An amazing job you did, and Jamie Parter was so cool.
- 27:55Speaker 2: What firefighters do they run in when everybody's running away,
- 27:59Speaker 2: But it seems like they're a team, and it felt
- 28:01Speaker 2: like in that video it's like you're kind of back
- 28:03Speaker 2: in the locker room a little bit.
- 28:05Speaker 7: Yeah, the fire hall has that feeling, right, and so
- 28:06Speaker 7: all the guys ribbing them a little bit, give them
- 28:08Speaker 7: a little jabs.
- 28:09Speaker 4: It gets there.
- 28:10Speaker 7: And when you're around and they're doing that kind of stuff,
- 28:12Speaker 7: it's probably they probably fight.
- 28:14Speaker 4: They're crazy.
- 28:15Speaker 7: Sometimes they're gonna go after each other at bark and
- 28:17Speaker 7: then the chirps coming back and forth.
- 28:19Speaker 4: I mean, it probably can be a perfect fit for us.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Exactly great job.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Other than actually walking into the fire fighters, we went
- 28:25Speaker 4: back out.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Then we can just hang out in the hall and
- 28:27Speaker 2: then we'll cook for him.
- 28:29Speaker 7: But they have a brotherhood and you can understand what's
- 28:32Speaker 7: going on there. It's it was really special just to
- 28:35Speaker 7: get it to meet him and all those firefighters out
- 28:37Speaker 7: there that do what I say, they are heroes.
- 28:40Speaker 6: Yeah, no doubt about that.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Will you're part of this Florida Panthers families for one
- 28:43Speaker 3: of the biggest goals in franchise history, allowing you to
- 28:46Speaker 3: win your first playoff series for the Panthers. You were
- 28:49Speaker 3: part of the run a year ago. Now you're part
- 28:51Speaker 3: of this team. What have you seen from this group
- 28:52Speaker 3: and what do you think makes them special?
- 28:54Speaker 7: They just really get after and they're hard and there
- 28:56Speaker 7: is we're talking about the firefighters, but there's that bond
- 28:59Speaker 7: in the walker, there's a trust for the guy besides
- 29:01Speaker 7: you that continue palm reice with the system.
- 29:03Speaker 4: It's it's gonna play hard, and they depend on each other.
- 29:06Speaker 7: They rely on each other, and you don't have that
- 29:08Speaker 7: fear of failure for yourself in the locker room like that,
- 29:10Speaker 7: you're afraid to let the guy down beside you. And
- 29:12Speaker 7: it starts with our top players and goes down throughout
- 29:15Speaker 7: and filters throughout the locker room. And it's special. I
- 29:18Speaker 7: have to really kind of just pinch myself and cher
- 29:20Speaker 7: it and just cherish the situation like this may never
- 29:24Speaker 7: happen again.
- 29:24Speaker 4: It's rare. I have to sit back and soul.
- 29:27Speaker 7: And look at the fans and the special group of
- 29:29Speaker 7: players that we have on the ice, and the coach
- 29:31Speaker 7: and just just so especially third time, just look at everything,
- 29:36Speaker 7: experience everything, because you never know if this ever happens again.
- 29:40Speaker 7: Like let alone win a Stanley Cup, but get here
- 29:42Speaker 7: three times. It's a really talented, fun group to be around.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Just talk about Brad Barshan, like the feeling you get
- 29:48Speaker 2: when you're around that locker room and seeing what he's
- 29:50Speaker 2: brought to this team leadership wise.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Thirty seven going on twenty two. That's what it feels like.
- 29:58Speaker 7: He was walking wait for a bus or getting on
- 30:01Speaker 7: and he said, thirty seven year old man, senior citizen.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Coming through, like get out of the way.
- 30:05Speaker 2: You know.
- 30:05Speaker 4: He he's running down there. He's full of energy.
- 30:08Speaker 7: And Paul Maurice was talking this morning and said, yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 7: Bardak doesn't talk too much. We have some guys you
- 30:13Speaker 7: get talk and then well we have another guy that
- 30:15Speaker 7: we brought them board. We really don't need anyone who
- 30:18Speaker 7: has to talk. He's friend Brad marks yet on average,
- 30:21Speaker 7: so he's going and Brad Marsham came in here.
- 30:24Speaker 4: And thought, maybe I'll may be playing with Barkok some
- 30:27Speaker 4: of the pop start. He's not online one. He's not
- 30:29Speaker 4: on mine too. He's online three with Lindel lovest a
- 30:33Speaker 4: line and he doesn't care.
- 30:34Speaker 7: He talks to those guys and said, you guys are
- 30:36Speaker 7: good offensively, he's one of the best games defensive.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Winger of all time.
- 30:41Speaker 7: But he's get well, you get the poplast make some
- 30:43Speaker 7: darn plays, let's get after it. And he's had that
- 30:45Speaker 7: trickle down effect. It's infectious what he's been able to
- 30:49Speaker 7: bring to the.
- 30:49Speaker 6: Room as a special group.
- 30:51Speaker 3: The fans are just making their way inside the building.
- 30:53Speaker 3: It's been rocking here in South Florida. How have you
- 30:55Speaker 3: seen the game of hockey grow? You mentioned this incredible
- 30:57Speaker 3: run that they're on. We're soaking it up in these fans,
- 30:59Speaker 3: I'm sure are soaking up this experience as well.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Ninety three, when I got down here, you told me
- 31:03Speaker 4: this was possible. We had We had one small little
- 31:06Speaker 4: practice rink.
- 31:07Speaker 7: I do wanted to play programs five to nine year
- 31:09Speaker 7: old kids from Kendall all the ways West Palm, over
- 31:12Speaker 7: a dozen ranks.
- 31:13Speaker 4: It's stunning the growth.
- 31:15Speaker 7: The fan base and everyone that we got and you
- 31:19Speaker 7: got on board.
- 31:19Speaker 4: You have to be successful down here.
- 31:21Speaker 7: We were in the early nineties, got off to a
- 31:23Speaker 7: good start and they have just reset the bar here
- 31:25Speaker 7: at this moment, and it's there's a place where hockey
- 31:28Speaker 7: down here and we found it with this team.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you talk about soaking in the moment and for
- 31:31Speaker 2: these fans as well, like where you never really thought
- 31:34Speaker 2: there'd be a team like this that would come around,
- 31:36Speaker 2: and what the Panthers have done, I found to match
- 31:39Speaker 2: that with the community outreach. I mean, it's something so special.
- 31:42Speaker 4: Yes, well, all the players get back, even like even
- 31:45Speaker 4: like Barca.
- 31:45Speaker 7: That's what makes like some of our players so special,
- 31:47Speaker 7: like bark Off with the Joe DiMaggio's children Hospital.
- 31:51Speaker 4: He would never tell you about it, like he'll never
- 31:53Speaker 4: see it, but he doesn't, right.
- 31:55Speaker 7: Yes, And there's a lot of people that give back
- 31:57Speaker 7: into our room, into charities, and.
- 32:00Speaker 4: A lot of what goes on with our players is
- 32:03Speaker 4: what you don't see.
- 32:04Speaker 7: But when people do the work right there like a
- 32:06Speaker 7: lot of people that put in work but don't are
- 32:08Speaker 7: never gonna tell you about it. We have a lot
- 32:10Speaker 7: of players like that. Our ownership has that commitment. We're
- 32:13Speaker 7: gonna get out in the community. We're gonna make sure
- 32:15Speaker 7: that we're out there and we're not gonna make loud
- 32:19Speaker 7: noises around it. We just want our presence and we
- 32:21Speaker 7: want to we want to do it. I guess that's
- 32:23Speaker 7: the biggest way to stay it. We want to be
- 32:26Speaker 7: part of it. We want to be in trench with
- 32:27Speaker 7: our friends, our family to make sure that everyone feels.
- 32:31Speaker 4: Part of this panther group.
- 32:32Speaker 6: Yeah, we get bil Zo.
- 32:33Speaker 3: On our last show, you was talking about his panthers
- 32:35Speaker 3: on the Prowl and initiates to get back to the
- 32:36Speaker 3: community of the American Cancer Society.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Are a Game three a dominant victory for the Panthers?
- 32:41Speaker 6: What do we think game for? What do you think
- 32:42Speaker 6: this performance is gonna look like?
- 32:44Speaker 4: Well, the VIC stars are gonna be rolling mcdave dry Sally.
- 32:47Speaker 6: You know, put off the score sheet.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like twenty nine.
- 32:50Speaker 7: And ninety seven have been held off the score sheet
- 32:52Speaker 7: fifteen times together, and Conor mcgavid has thirty five points
- 32:55Speaker 7: in the.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Fifteen games they've played when they've been held high. So
- 32:59Speaker 4: it's gonna be coming that you throw last games out.
- 33:02Speaker 7: Momentum stops at last game starts at put drop tonight, Yeah,
- 33:07Speaker 7: and one shift or another it could go the different ways.
- 33:09Speaker 4: So the Panthers are gonna be have to be on
- 33:10Speaker 4: their toes.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Like you playing in this kind of series and
- 33:13Speaker 2: then you get the two days off, then you play tonight,
- 33:17Speaker 2: and now you play one day turnaround? How is that
- 33:19Speaker 2: mentally for you, especially for a Florida Panthers team that
- 33:22Speaker 2: had all the momenta after gave three.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to be able to adjust at this
- 33:27Speaker 4: time of year. Whatever it is. There's no excuses, the refs, whatever, anything.
- 33:32Speaker 4: You have to control what you can control, and you
- 33:35Speaker 4: have to use that. If you see anything else it
- 33:38Speaker 4: was two days, that's an excuse. I think that's kind of.
- 33:42Speaker 7: Where you as an athlete or as a person, you
- 33:45Speaker 7: can't have any sort of excuses for the way you
- 33:47Speaker 7: go out play. You have to take full responsibility, full ownership,
- 33:51Speaker 7: and stay in the moment.
- 33:51Speaker 4: And this Panther team.
- 33:52Speaker 7: Knows it wasn't two to one last year. It was
- 33:55Speaker 7: three to nothing and they came back. So you win
- 33:58Speaker 7: a game six to one, they understand. Yeah, six to
- 34:02Speaker 7: one to those guys in a two to one deficit
- 34:04Speaker 7: means he doesn't mean too much.
- 34:06Speaker 6: I like that momentum. We'll start at Huck dropping. Who
- 34:08Speaker 6: will take it? Bill Lindsay, thank you so much for
- 34:10Speaker 6: stopping by Stanley Live.
- 34:13Speaker 2: A great call.
- 34:14Speaker 4: All right, great, have.
- 34:15Speaker 6: A great call.
- 34:18Speaker 4: M all right.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Congrats to Gavin McKenna. By the way, thanks to Bill Lindsay,
- 34:26Speaker 1: was fantastic. Congrats to Gavin McKenna. HL David Brands Player
- 34:29Speaker 1: of the Award in Canadian Junior Hockey Medicine Hat Tigers
- 34:32Speaker 1: for a dominant the Western Hockey League despite still being
- 34:34Speaker 1: a year away from being eligible for the NHL Draft,
- 34:37Speaker 1: third youngest player to win the award after John Tavars
- 34:40Speaker 1: and Sydney Crosby. J Do you've talked to this before?
- 34:42Speaker 1: Mc kenny, You're like, listen, I don't know.
- 34:44Speaker 2: We're not watching junior hockey day in day out.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Do I think he's going to be the next you know,
- 34:48Speaker 1: fill in the blank Crosby, Gretzky, McDavid, et cetera. We
- 34:50Speaker 1: don't really necessarily know. But how hyped are you for
- 34:53Speaker 1: this guy?
- 34:54Speaker 2: He's silky smooth. He's silky smooth.
- 34:59Speaker 4: He's the silky smooth.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Hi pod like that. Yeah he's I mean, yeah, exactly that.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I he's so good offensively, It's it's really crazy how
- 35:11Speaker 2: creative he can be with the puck. So yeah, I
- 35:13Speaker 2: want to see him another year. He's gonna get a
- 35:14Speaker 2: little bit stronger and coming to next year. It's crazy
- 35:17Speaker 2: that he's another year of junior. But is he? Is
- 35:20Speaker 2: he talking about going to university? Is that what i'd heard?
- 35:24Speaker 1: I just know he's a year away from being elgile raft.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I don't know about that, is the rumor?
- 35:28Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, thank you. I just saw that. I didn't
- 35:31Speaker 2: want to speak out of my ass so I wanted
- 35:33Speaker 2: to ask.
- 35:33Speaker 5: He is obviously HL players are now eligible to go play.
- 35:41Speaker 5: That is the rumor, which which Bob Bender would flip
- 35:46Speaker 5: if that happened.
- 35:46Speaker 2: He's a you want to hear this guy, Bob Bender middle,
- 35:52Speaker 2: Bob Bender, middle seat on West jed on the way there.
- 35:55Speaker 2: But Bob, Bob's a pretty big guy to that can.
- 35:59Speaker 2: But Bob Bender, No, Bob's tiny. Bob. Yeah, Bobby, he's
- 36:04Speaker 2: a little guy.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Shocking maybe just because his presence. I pictured like a
- 36:08Speaker 1: booming Bob Bender.
- 36:09Speaker 2: I know his voice.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I pictured Bob Bender like Bob Booger.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Know his voice, know his voice. He's still taller than you,
- 36:16Speaker 2: ad man, but his he's got that short sign. Everybody's tall. No,
- 36:21Speaker 2: but Bob on the middle seat, but he got the one,
- 36:23Speaker 2: you know, he got the leg up. We got off
- 36:25Speaker 2: the plane and I was like, how was it, Bob.
- 36:26Speaker 2: He's like, oh, tough one, middle seat And I was like, oh,
- 36:29Speaker 2: where are you saying? He's like JW married. I'm like, ye,
- 36:31Speaker 2: must must be nice, just just one over the top
- 36:35Speaker 2: on me. But yeah, McKenna Penn State. Potentially that would
- 36:39Speaker 2: be wild and for one year, I mean it's kind
- 36:42Speaker 2: of good because you know he's the odds on number one.
- 36:47Speaker 2: He's gonna say, I'm gonna go play less games. I'm
- 36:50Speaker 2: gonna go get in the training methodology of of the
- 36:55Speaker 2: NHL and really work on building muscle. You know, I'm
- 36:59Speaker 2: not gonna lose my game. So he's gonna go get
- 37:01Speaker 2: competitive hockey but not have the stress of playing in junior.
- 37:05Speaker 2: So I kind of dig the move if i'm him,
- 37:09Speaker 2: and I think it's a smart play as well. So
- 37:12Speaker 2: I'll see if he does it and stays in junior,
- 37:14Speaker 2: but I wouldn't be surprised if he went to university.
- 37:18Speaker 2: We'll find out.
- 37:19Speaker 1: We want to wish happy Trails a longtime voice the
- 37:21Speaker 1: Tronomy Police. They're dropping like flies right now. Sam Rosen
- 37:24Speaker 1: steps away from New York Rangers and now on the
- 37:26Speaker 1: All Time Greats. Joe Bowen announcing today this is Friday.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Next season will be his last for the team on
- 37:31Speaker 1: the mic in James the Bone Zone know him for
- 37:33Speaker 1: the season. Holy mackinaw, he took his first night off
- 37:36Speaker 1: in forty three years. We should see this coming once
- 37:39Speaker 1: you took a night after forty three years to go
- 37:40Speaker 1: watch his beloved nor Day and fighting Irish lose to
- 37:43Speaker 1: what I was doing the ouce jimsy greens. Now what,
- 37:45Speaker 1: this day off thing felt pretty good. I'm gonna start
- 37:47Speaker 1: taking more of things off, you know, I'm just gonna
- 37:49Speaker 1: call it a career. So we should have felt this
- 37:50Speaker 1: one coming.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Listen.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I had known Joe from working in Toronto. He's a
- 37:53Speaker 1: great guy. He does bleed irish ezer, smiling like he
- 37:56Speaker 1: is all about Notre Dame all the time. Great booming voice,
- 37:59Speaker 1: great passion. You know, I've listened to Jack Michael's on
- 38:01Speaker 1: these oilers calls, and I like Jack a lot too,
- 38:03Speaker 1: but he almost sounds Finnist like with his goal called
- 38:05Speaker 1: like over time, whereas Joe Bone's enthusiasm unmistakable, like booming voice.
- 38:11Speaker 1: That guy loves the maple leafs like no other. Hats
- 38:13Speaker 1: off to Joe.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Bone the Bone Zone. Take it, Enjoy it, my friend.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Like Thanos looking over a grateful world the cost of
- 38:23Speaker 2: his fingers, He's gone exactly. It's a great life for
- 38:26Speaker 2: Joe the Bone Zone. On wed one Bone to rule
- 38:29Speaker 2: them all. No bone is complete without Joe, no bones
- 38:35Speaker 2: about it.
- 38:36Speaker 1: On Wednesday, Forsyth County, George announcing plans for a three
- 38:39Speaker 1: billion dollar mixed use, full facility that will include arena
- 38:43Speaker 1: in the hopes of bringing on an NHL team back
- 38:45Speaker 1: to Atlanta. Wait, Atlanta's burning Nope already lost an NHL
- 38:49Speaker 1: team twice. First, in nineteen eighty the Flames moved to Calgary,
- 38:52Speaker 1: and then again in twenty eleven, the Thrashers went to
- 38:55Speaker 1: Canada to become the Jets. Jitdy, you're telling me, and
- 38:59Speaker 1: I understand the issue right now, the currency, But you're
- 39:01Speaker 1: telling me, and I understand the terriffs right now with
- 39:03Speaker 1: Trump and car But you're telling me we can't get
- 39:06Speaker 1: a hockey team in Quebec City. We can't get Laculise
- 39:09Speaker 1: going again, we can't get Michelle. But I'm going to
- 39:13Speaker 1: see Atlanta for a third time.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Pass we put it in the burbs, baby, with all
- 39:19Speaker 2: of them white folk in the burbs with all that
- 39:23Speaker 2: cash money, they're gonna come out, mom and pop. Now
- 39:27Speaker 2: it's uh, it's I you know, I'm such hard because
- 39:32Speaker 2: you want Quebec so bad and you want Canadian teams.
- 39:35Speaker 2: And I understand they're doing a very you know, three
- 39:38Speaker 2: hundred acres. They're trying to do what the Atlanta Braves did.
- 39:42Speaker 2: They're going out kind of in the suburbs. Yeah, a
- 39:45Speaker 2: very very you know, a very wealthy community in that
- 39:49Speaker 2: area and people that Yeah, a lot of private schools,
- 39:52Speaker 2: you know, a lot of families there. And I think
- 39:55Speaker 2: they're expecting to have the same success the Braves have had.
- 39:58Speaker 2: When everybody you talked to that you know, I've seen,
- 40:01Speaker 2: have been to that stadium, watched the Brave and seeing
- 40:04Speaker 2: them transition there is like it's a slam dunk. So
- 40:06Speaker 2: I think they're trying to recreate the same thing. I'm
- 40:09Speaker 2: already looking at real estate in South Forsyth, trying to
- 40:11Speaker 2: buy some rental properties. Nice. See what we can't find?
- 40:14Speaker 2: Maybe me and you we put a little unscripted studio
- 40:17Speaker 2: there wouldn't don't you know? Ye know, me, you and
- 40:20Speaker 2: the Braves.
- 40:22Speaker 1: All Star Game, MB All Star Game this year, Atlanta, we.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Can go, let's go. What's what's what would you name
- 40:28Speaker 2: the Atlanta team coming back? Well, this is what I'm saying.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I would say Atlanta tired, because quite frankly, I'm tired
- 40:34Speaker 1: of this gonna be the third time.
- 40:35Speaker 2: So Atlanta. That was good. That's right, that was good.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Atlanta tired. No bones about that, Joe Bone.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Last one for you, the first pig trail of the summer.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Chris Crider, longtime Rangers favorite, going to Anaheim Ducks. Now
- 40:48Speaker 1: you predicted about Crider specifically, but you said watching Random,
- 40:51Speaker 1: they're gonna start making suis. You don't hire a Q,
- 40:53Speaker 1: you don't have ver Beacon there, you know. Okay, Also,
- 40:55Speaker 1: we're gonna start making us. I think you said Zegras
- 40:56Speaker 1: get traded. B Hey, Crider, that's big name. Fourth rail
- 40:59Speaker 1: pick in twenty twenty five, along with Quieter going to Anaheim,
- 41:02Speaker 1: four prospect carry Terrence and around this summer, thirty four
- 41:06Speaker 1: year old Crider third all time Rangers franchise history three
- 41:09Speaker 1: and twenty six goals. He's seventh all time with eight
- 41:12Speaker 1: or eighty three games fifty two goals. Felt like a
- 41:14Speaker 1: lifetime ago now twenty twenty one to twenty twenty two.
- 41:16Speaker 1: He was a disappointment this past year, two years left
- 41:19Speaker 1: of his contract six point five million dollars per season
- 41:21Speaker 1: for the Rangers, essentially a salary dump. You take a
- 41:24Speaker 1: flyer on this kid, and for the Ducks. You go, wait, Crider,
- 41:26Speaker 1: let's go. The Ducks are making a push.
- 41:29Speaker 2: All hail demerstdamis yes, demers Tradamis. He's back again hitting
- 41:41Speaker 2: it out of the park. Pat Verbeek will not be idle.
- 41:44Speaker 2: He will not allow the Honda Center to be sold
- 41:47Speaker 2: thirty percent capacity. He will fill that barn with an
- 41:51Speaker 2: exciting team. People say that Chris Krider is over the hill, passed.
- 41:56Speaker 2: I mean I think he gets on the beach toes
- 41:58Speaker 2: in the sand, detoxifying the body. He will have forty again,
- 42:02Speaker 2: I could score thirty four. He's gonna have no pressure.
- 42:05Speaker 2: There no pressure. A different team, a young, upstar team.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Joel Quinville at the Helm, who is going to really
- 42:12Speaker 2: provide a role for him, and all things I heard
- 42:15Speaker 2: when we talked to Elliott Friedman. Was the reason that
- 42:17Speaker 2: Chris Krader accepted this was because he had a very
- 42:21Speaker 2: good conversation with Joel Quinnville, and Joel Quenville said, you
- 42:24Speaker 2: will have a role. Here's what your role will be.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Do you like it or you know or you don't,
- 42:29Speaker 2: And it's up to you if you would like to
- 42:31Speaker 2: come and join this team. And he was very excited
- 42:33Speaker 2: that whatever role that Quinville had told him he will have,
- 42:37Speaker 2: you know, excited him enough to accept and kind of
- 42:40Speaker 2: facilitate this trade, so to speak. And I think it's great.
- 42:44Speaker 2: You know, they got kil Orn there, they got him,
- 42:45Speaker 2: they got Goudas, they got True, but they got a
- 42:47Speaker 2: lot of veterans there with some size to kind of
- 42:51Speaker 2: insulate these young, talented young players, these skilled Leo Carlson's
- 42:57Speaker 2: Mason McTavish is who I'm interested to see. You know,
- 43:01Speaker 2: he's an RFA. I'm interested to see the old offer
- 43:04Speaker 2: sheet coming in for this old fella. But I think
- 43:07Speaker 2: they're gonna lock him up. You got the Zegresses on
- 43:09Speaker 2: the back, and you got Jackson the comb There's a
- 43:11Speaker 2: lot to like from his team. They got two fens,
- 43:13Speaker 2: really good solid goalies in dos Staal and John Gibson.
- 43:17Speaker 2: They got a lot to like and a good coach
- 43:19Speaker 2: at the helm. So Pat Verbeek has been not shy
- 43:23Speaker 2: to say that they're taking swings. They are trying to
- 43:26Speaker 2: contend for a playoff spot, and that Pacific Division just
- 43:30Speaker 2: got a little bit more tight up there, because now
- 43:33Speaker 2: you're gonna have Anaheim, You're gonna have la You're gonna
- 43:36Speaker 2: most likely have Vegas, uh with with a possible shake up,
- 43:41Speaker 2: you're gonna have Edmonton. Uh. It's gonna be very interesting there.
- 43:46Speaker 2: You're you're hoping Calgary takes another step forward, so the
- 43:49Speaker 2: Pacific might turn into the Central. Who knows, who knows?
- 43:53Speaker 2: Nobody knows, but Joe Bone to be retirement.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I'm not sure if Joe Bones really locked in the Ducks,
- 43:59Speaker 1: but he's a verbeque kind of player. He's hard nosed.
- 44:01Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting to see how that.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Team he's hard boned.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Okay, prediction Oilers win Game five, Panthers win Game six,
- 44:07Speaker 1: Oilers winning seven.
- 44:09Speaker 4: What do you got?
- 44:10Speaker 7: Uh?
- 44:10Speaker 2: I have to stick with what I said. I said
- 44:13Speaker 2: whoever won Game four would win the series because that
- 44:15Speaker 2: was the pivotal game. In Game four, I think Edmonton
- 44:18Speaker 2: wins in six.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Wow.
- 44:20Speaker 1: You think they're gonna win three straight games against the
- 44:22Speaker 1: Florida Panthers.
- 44:23Speaker 2: They did it last year.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they lost in Game seven.
- 44:27Speaker 2: They won, They won three straight. This is one. They
- 44:31Speaker 2: just gotta win three. They don't gotta win four straight.
- 44:32Speaker 2: They gotta win three straight. You God, let me say, hey,
- 44:37Speaker 2: can I fucking explain my thought processes on this? You
- 44:41Speaker 2: know this unscripted Vicin Demurz if you're fair enough and Tal,
- 44:47Speaker 2: it's Vicin Demurz and Tal. You first me second, tall third,
- 44:52Speaker 2: so let me finish, Let me have the stage, please,
- 44:54Speaker 2: all right? You got me here on seventeen flights. I'm
- 44:57Speaker 2: gonna get my fucking thoughts out.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Are you in the marry Ut or not?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Come on, I'm in the Varscalona Hotel. I don't even
- 45:03Speaker 2: know what it is on hey, I said, any hotel
- 45:06Speaker 2: that has the street name like farscoing on white like,
- 45:11Speaker 2: I'm not gonna get a free room here anytime soon.
- 45:13Speaker 2: So this place that god damn dump. I hope it
- 45:15Speaker 2: doesn't go seven because they're not gonna allow me in
- 45:17Speaker 2: the building, I know. But it's nice. The renovations are
- 45:20Speaker 2: actually nice. Farscona and percent twenty seven. Nice nice restaurant
- 45:25Speaker 2: in here. But why I think so is the turnaround
- 45:28Speaker 2: is so important. They got that win has been They've
- 45:31Speaker 2: they've played an extra game if you consider the overtimes,
- 45:34Speaker 2: they've already played five games. There's fatigue coming somewhere. I think.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I just think that this building is gonna carry this team,
- 45:43Speaker 2: and they're gonna go back to Florida and they're not
- 45:46Speaker 2: gonna want to come back with the nerves of Game seven.
- 45:49Speaker 2: And I just think they're gonna somehow weasel this out
- 45:53Speaker 2: and we're all gonna be like how the next year,
- 45:55Speaker 2: we like, how the fuck did Edmonton win that series?
- 45:58Speaker 2: But they're gonna do it because Connor has not had
- 46:00Speaker 2: a Connor game yet correct in these finals, he had one.
- 46:03Speaker 2: He had some flashes in game one. He's not at
- 46:06Speaker 2: a full sixty Connor McDavid game. He's due, so he's there.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Tell the floor is yours, and I'm just gonna add
- 46:15Speaker 2: as well, here I'll just kick go. Tell Is Cherick?
- 46:19Speaker 2: Is it safe? Can I talk?
- 46:20Speaker 5: Now?
- 46:21Speaker 2: Yeah? You're safe? Can I finish?
- 46:23Speaker 7: Uh?
- 46:23Speaker 3: No?
- 46:24Speaker 5: This was something I wanted to ask about FEU, specifically JD,
- 46:28Speaker 5: because the whole issue in us keep making a time too.
- 46:32Speaker 1: I thought we're almost done ahead now we're on the
- 46:34Speaker 1: while neither of you.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Can chime in.
- 46:35Speaker 5: But just because JD's traveling with the series, the whole
- 46:39Speaker 5: hellish thing we had to go through with trying to
- 46:41Speaker 5: make time to record this episode was that instead of
- 46:44Speaker 5: two days between games four and five, it's only one.
- 46:47Speaker 5: So you're traveling from southern Florida to Edmonton and you
- 46:51Speaker 5: just have the one day between games. Does that help
- 46:54Speaker 5: Edmonton kind of retain the momentum they got from Game four.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Does it just piss everyone off because they don't get
- 47:00Speaker 5: the extra day? I mean, what is the role of
- 47:02Speaker 5: First of all, why is there only one day off
- 47:04Speaker 5: between games? I don't even know why that's the case?
- 47:06Speaker 2: Saturday night? Come on, who does that?
- 47:08Speaker 5: They wanted to have the Saturday night game exactly, they
- 47:11Speaker 5: wanted a Saturday night game.
- 47:12Speaker 2: People are drunk already. Yeah they've started drinking already.
- 47:16Speaker 5: But but you know, West Edmonton Mall, I'm sure is
- 47:20Speaker 5: just an absolute horror show right now. But so what
- 47:23Speaker 5: what do you how do you think that plays into
- 47:24Speaker 5: Game five in terms of just the one day between games.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I can tell you right now, my body feels like
- 47:30Speaker 2: absolute shit after those flights, Like I am in a
- 47:33Speaker 2: bad place and I didn't play a game before, and
- 47:36Speaker 2: you know, I'm gonna You're gonna look to the guys
- 47:39Speaker 2: that have played less in this series to kind of
- 47:42Speaker 2: step up. You know, I look at like a Jeff Skinner.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I thought Jeff Skinner at his best game of the
- 47:46Speaker 2: season in Game four in Florida. And that's because you
- 47:50Speaker 2: really think about it, He's the freshest guy out there,
- 47:52Speaker 2: so like where he was like typically the slowest guy
- 47:55Speaker 2: in the ice are like a step slow. He's kind
- 47:57Speaker 2: of a step faster than everybody. And he's still got
- 47:59Speaker 2: that strength because he's you know, working out every day
- 48:02Speaker 2: and skating every day. He's not you know, incurring the
- 48:06Speaker 2: fatigue of playing constant games and being hit and being
- 48:10Speaker 2: beaten on. He's like got that freshness pod coles into.
- 48:14Speaker 2: So I feel like there's you know, they haven't played
- 48:17Speaker 2: enough games, and I just feel like there's gonna be
- 48:19Speaker 2: a moment where Jeff Skinner scores a goal. You're gonna
- 48:21Speaker 2: hear it to for me today. But I just there's
- 48:24Speaker 2: just something about one day in between and Rogers' Place
- 48:28Speaker 2: lifting this team up. It's gonna you know, it's gonna
- 48:31Speaker 2: empower the home team more than the away team. And
- 48:34Speaker 2: if they get off to a hot start and build
- 48:36Speaker 2: a quick lead, it's gonna be tough. Man Like, this
- 48:39Speaker 2: has been a hard series and it's been very long,
- 48:41Speaker 2: so I always lean on the home team. Now, this
- 48:43Speaker 2: is why you got homeice advantage, and it was specifically
- 48:46Speaker 2: for Game five, So that's why I was like, you know,
- 48:48Speaker 2: and the way Florida lost Game four of like giving
- 48:52Speaker 2: up the lead then tying you with nineteen seconds and
- 48:54Speaker 2: then losing after you hit the crossbar and etch and
- 48:57Speaker 2: blocked an empty net like you had all those things happened.
- 49:01Speaker 2: You were you were just like always at the the
- 49:03Speaker 2: you know, the top of your what I say, your
- 49:06Speaker 2: nervous system is peaking because you're so excited and then
- 49:09Speaker 2: you're let down, so excited let down, and I don't
- 49:11Speaker 2: know what you know. I said, what's gonna break first
- 49:13Speaker 2: for this in this series is the fact that Edmonton
- 49:17Speaker 2: is trailed. The two series prior to this, they only
- 49:20Speaker 2: trailed ninety six minutes. They've trailed over one hundred and
- 49:23Speaker 2: fifty minutes in this series. So they're constantly chasing, constantly chasing.
- 49:27Speaker 2: But the flip side of that, I look at Florida
- 49:29Speaker 2: just can't put them away, And I don't know what
- 49:32Speaker 2: breaks first that resolve from Edmonton in that resiliency or
- 49:36Speaker 2: like Florida finally being like, fuck, we can't get rid
- 49:38Speaker 2: of these guys, like dating back to last year, like
- 49:40Speaker 2: they're just they're always coming, They're always coming, They're always coming.
- 49:43Speaker 2: And then finally it's gonna come to a head. And
- 49:45Speaker 2: I think it comes to a head in Game five
- 49:47Speaker 2: and they finally Edmonton pulls away and they exercise the
- 49:52Speaker 2: Dems Joe Bone style.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Well, let's hope so, because I mean, it's been unbelievable,
- 49:57Speaker 1: the fact that everyone knows Canada has not won the
- 49:58Speaker 1: Cups THISCE ninety three. But the Florida Panthers do not
- 50:01Speaker 1: lose back to back games. If you have to do
- 50:02Speaker 1: this playoffs, maybe that'll change.
- 50:03Speaker 2: WHOA, that's a good Saturday and know that.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Yeah, they do not lose back to back games. To
- 50:08Speaker 1: your pointment, how much hockey's been played, Maurice's team has
- 50:10Speaker 1: played three hundred and twelve regular season and playoff games
- 50:13Speaker 1: since he took over. Oilers have played three h three
- 50:15Speaker 1: and amazingly three overtime games so far. The record's actually
- 50:18Speaker 1: the nineteen fifty one. Still, like A found there was
- 50:20Speaker 1: five overtime games. So I don't know if we're gonna
- 50:22Speaker 1: quite get history. But it's been remarkable to see great
- 50:25Speaker 1: stuff from JD, especially because of the fact he's exhausted.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Right now.
- 50:28Speaker 1: He's in a shitty hotel, Bob Benner's The Marriott in Scottsdale.
- 50:33Speaker 2: I'm trying to watch with the NBA Finals. I went great.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Thanks for listening. On scripted. Go ahead, I loved your
- 50:37Speaker 2: suit on HL. Now ad nn, you look great with Daniel. Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 2: you look really good, Thanks buddy.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I don't know, I never know if you're being genuine remarking,
- 50:44Speaker 1: but it was.
- 50:46Speaker 2: You're Oh my godjeez, Louis. You can't say anything nice
- 50:50Speaker 2: to anybody anymore in this world.
- 50:52Speaker 1: By the way, Danio and Edmonton guys. He keeps telling me,
- 50:54Speaker 1: I'm not chegging.
- 50:55Speaker 2: You're from Edmonton.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I know you're not trure, but your sister Leanne's like
- 50:58Speaker 1: a diehard oilers face.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't cheer if anybody come on, you're chair.
- 51:02Speaker 1: For the oilers, and so are we here unscripted oilers seven,
- 51:05Speaker 1: you're saying others in six, let's get it done.
- 51:07Speaker 2: I am. Yeah, your suit was great, your tie was
- 51:09Speaker 2: ship though.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Good night, folks.
