- 0:40Speaker 3: What is happening? I'm Rob Lindquist, I'm Bugs and we're
- 0:45Speaker 3: the Avid Indoorsman. Hello everyone, Hello or today pal? Oh,
- 0:50Speaker 3: I'm good. You know what I'm excited about?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Tell me, tell me everything.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I'm so excited that we are going to talk about
- 0:57Speaker 3: a movie that we've never done an episode on before.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Have we confirmed that? Because I never went and looked.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I didn't, but I know we did not do this.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I still feel so silly about that.
- 1:12Speaker 1: It's really funny. I still just giggle to myself when
- 1:15Speaker 1: I think of it, like, wow, we really we almost
- 1:17Speaker 1: did an entire episode again.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Again, and I would have been none the wiser.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Nope, someone would have been like, haven't you done this before?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah? We got to give a big shout out to
- 1:30Speaker 3: Nate's wife, who she was the one who yesd Nate's attention.
- 1:34Speaker 3: She was like, haven't you done that movie before? I'm
- 1:36Speaker 3: pretty sure you did that already.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Did you notice how he didn't want to say that
- 1:40Speaker 1: on the recording, So we're gonna say it on racks?
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah, as it were? So I had no idea.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Nope, I didn't either. I had no idea. In fact,
- 1:50Speaker 1: when he said, do you think we've done? I was like, Nate,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you fool, shut your mouth.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I don't know why you're asking so many questions. We
- 2:00Speaker 3: done so many.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Quinn spoken to Nate. That was so silly. It was
- 2:07Speaker 1: very silly. I hope you enjoyed it. I haven't as
- 2:10Speaker 1: we are here, I haven't re.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Listened, so I don't know what he said in that
- 2:15Speaker 3: podcust no, but I'm pretty sure it was brilliant.
- 2:18Speaker 1: It was five years ago. It was like almost of
- 2:21Speaker 1: the day, which is cray insane.
- 2:26Speaker 3: We've been doing this for a minute, dude, Yeah, we
- 2:28Speaker 3: have yeah, kind of fun.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It's been great. I'd be interested to know what are like,
- 2:34Speaker 1: what we had been streaming and stuff was back on
- 2:37Speaker 1: five years ago. Yeah, that'd be interesting, but I guess
- 2:42Speaker 1: we'll have to settle for what you're watching today. So
- 2:44Speaker 1: have you seen any movies lately?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Good question. Yes, I went and saw I went to
- 2:50Speaker 3: the theater. Oh this is a little bit ago now,
- 2:53Speaker 3: but and I'm pretty sure you saw it in the
- 2:55Speaker 3: theater as well, The Mission Impossible, The Final Reckoning Dude. Yes, absolutely, yeah, man,
- 3:04Speaker 3: As you know, I was a huge fan of that
- 3:07Speaker 3: franchise since it started. Yeah, it's just so I'll never
- 3:15Speaker 3: I couldn't tell you the year.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We didn't We didn't remember that we did Back to
- 3:19Speaker 1: the Future, but Rob knows.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Wednesday second is when the first one came out. But yeah, man,
- 3:26Speaker 3: it was. It was pretty I thought it was pretty great.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I was happy I was able to see it on
- 3:31Speaker 3: the big screen. The stuff that Tom Cruise does to
- 3:36Speaker 3: make an entertaining movie is admirable. And staying it off
- 3:40Speaker 3: planes it yeah, falling through this guy with his parachute
- 3:45Speaker 3: on fire, which was like a real thing, hedver and
- 3:48Speaker 3: over and over. He's just a madman and it's so
- 3:52Speaker 3: much fun to watch. I enjoyed how they referenced the
- 3:58Speaker 3: earlier films and the characters from the previous films that
- 4:03Speaker 3: h and I thought it was a pretty timely plot
- 4:05Speaker 3: line with with AI trying to take over the world.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Have you heard about this AI? That like they programmed
- 4:14Speaker 3: it to shut itself down, and this AI was like no,
- 4:19Speaker 3: and it like it blackmailed the guy that created this
- 4:25Speaker 3: y it like told itself to write a different code
- 4:29Speaker 3: to like not really shut off, like it was doing
- 4:31Speaker 3: all these things to survive. So that's just nuts. But
- 4:38Speaker 3: I thought, I thought this film was really fun. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 3: it was very entertaining.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Love it.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I guess I could just talk about that film too,
- 4:49Speaker 3: because I did see it. You don't have to, I'm
- 4:51Speaker 3: sure you've seen so many.
- 4:52Speaker 1: My one complaint about those movies is they they don't
- 4:55Speaker 1: care about the plot almost at all anymore.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Like, yeah, this one.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Wasn't bad, but it's really all pieced around whatever, like
- 5:03Speaker 1: set the stunt stunt he wants to do, which is
- 5:06Speaker 1: super cool and they're fun to watch. I had a
- 5:08Speaker 1: good time watching that movie. But yeah, like there were
- 5:11Speaker 1: parts where I was like, well, this doesn't make any
- 5:13Speaker 1: sense though, right.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Like plot holes.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, And I was really shocked by it was
- 5:18Speaker 1: funny because I went with the post and Dave and
- 5:21Speaker 1: then Dave's brother Matt, and we were talking afterward and
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was like that, like, there's a bunker setup basically
- 5:29Speaker 1: right with a bunch of crazy good actors, and they
- 5:33Speaker 1: all look kind of bad.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Because it's just it's like an snl skit.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Almost or something like they didn't they spent you know,
- 5:40Speaker 1: they had to get twelve more hours in a plane,
- 5:42Speaker 1: so they couldn't spend on a writer to write that
- 5:44Speaker 1: scene or something.
- 5:45Speaker 3: It's oh, yeah, yeah, that's what you're saying, you know
- 5:48Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Like it was just kind of like, okay, like it
- 5:51Speaker 1: wasn't bad, but it was also like what is happening here?
- 5:55Speaker 4: Ye?
- 5:55Speaker 3: But yeah, Basset and nick Off.
- 5:58Speaker 1: For me, it was star studded and I really did
- 6:02Speaker 1: n't drum myself, don't get me wrong. I think if
- 6:04Speaker 1: you can still see it in the theater, go do that,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because this is a it's a popcorn movie, you know,
- 6:09Speaker 1: big time.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Well, and apparently it's the last one.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's also very long, I.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Was it was almost three hours. I was surprised how
- 6:17Speaker 3: long it was for sure, But dude, they covered some
- 6:21Speaker 3: ground all over the world.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Who knew South Africa was so beautiful?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Man?
- 6:27Speaker 1: With mountains. I guess I didn't realize that, but amazing. Well,
- 6:33Speaker 1: cool love it. Have you been streaming anything?
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yes? I finished Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple. Oh nice.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I had talked about it when I had started it,
- 6:45Speaker 3: and I was like, I finished it, Vince vonn one, No, no, no,
- 6:49Speaker 3: this is the this is the John ham Olivia Munn,
- 6:53Speaker 3: Amanda Pete.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I said, Vince von I thought John Hamm
- 6:57Speaker 1: where he's a rich guy, right, exactly?
- 7:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that one.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Sorry you said the wrong thing.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I thought it was okay. I would be surprised if
- 7:06Speaker 3: they keep it going. Oh interesting, But they have made
- 7:10Speaker 3: it so they could keep going if they wanted to. Yes,
- 7:15Speaker 3: it is compelling to see how the super wealthy live
- 7:19Speaker 3: and to see how most of them are still very
- 7:22Speaker 3: unhappy even though they have every toy and all the
- 7:26Speaker 3: nicest things you can buy. And it's interesting to see
- 7:30Speaker 3: John Hamm's character. We know he loses everything pretty much,
- 7:34Speaker 3: and just to see his character shift from someone like
- 7:38Speaker 3: that to someone who's worried about how he's going to
- 7:41Speaker 3: provide and sure all that. So that is compelling. For sure,
- 7:45Speaker 3: that's cool. It's yeah, it's just kind of dark. There's
- 7:49Speaker 3: some side characters that don't do a lot for me.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I'm glad I watched it, but I certainly wouldn't go
- 7:56Speaker 3: like on and on and recommend people go check it
- 7:59Speaker 3: out either.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It also kind of like season premise a little bit.
- 8:05Speaker 3: A little bit, but who knows, And maybe they could
- 8:08Speaker 3: do some really crazy things this next season, but would
- 8:14Speaker 3: I would be surprised if they keep it going. I
- 8:16Speaker 3: haven't heard anybody talking about it at all, so I
- 8:18Speaker 3: don't know if it's like super well received or not.
- 8:21Speaker 3: So I thought it.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Was just okay, nice, nice, how about you're cool. I
- 8:28Speaker 1: watched the end of season two of The Last of Us.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I don't think we've talked about the end yet.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 8:34Speaker 1: What a great season of TV. Though overall really fun
- 8:38Speaker 1: and interesting, and I think it's like a shorter season
- 8:43Speaker 1: because I think it was only eight episodes if I
- 8:45Speaker 1: remember right. It's also been a while since I finished
- 8:48Speaker 1: watching it. It feels like.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But really cool.
- 8:53Speaker 1: They did a lot of super interesting stuff with this season,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and yeah, I'm excited to see how they I feel
- 9:01Speaker 1: like we're sort of in the home stretch of finishing
- 9:04Speaker 1: that story a little bit, so yeah, but maybe that's wrong.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Maybe they'll come out with another game, and then you know,
- 9:10Speaker 1: there'll be a whole nother giant.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I have no idea what the original content is at all.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So I think there's been two games, and I think
- 9:19Speaker 1: we just went through the first half of the second
- 9:21Speaker 1: game basically, And I believe they even said in an
- 9:24Speaker 1: interview they weren't going to go past the source material
- 9:27Speaker 1: because that.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Kind of that's got people in trouble before.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I guess. Yeah, So yeah, we'll see, but it wouldn't
- 9:34Speaker 1: shock the show's the discuss The game was a success,
- 9:37Speaker 1: so probably they'll come out with a new game.
- 9:40Speaker 3: They might even be working out already, who knows, But yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 3: I saw a rumor and who knows, it's probably not
- 9:46Speaker 3: true rest on the internet, but that they might focus
- 9:51Speaker 3: more on Caitlin Deaver's character. Yeah, in the next if
- 9:56Speaker 3: they do another season.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Certainly that tracks with what the game will be for
- 10:02Speaker 1: this next they're definitely doing at least one more season
- 10:06Speaker 1: and then they'll probably be caught up with the game.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So yeah, that tracks for sure. And she's great in this,
- 10:12Speaker 1: She's always so good.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Everybody is so good in it. Yeah, and yeah, you
- 10:17Speaker 3: were correct the first season was nine episodes in this
- 10:19Speaker 3: season was seven.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Okay, nice, Yeah, so that's kind of fun. But I
- 10:24Speaker 1: also don't mind that, like just have as many as
- 10:27Speaker 1: you need, you know, like it was compelling. All of
- 10:29Speaker 1: them were really good. It's just this is such a man,
- 10:33Speaker 1: it's such a big budget project. I have to imagine
- 10:37Speaker 1: be expensive to make them.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Every episode is like a full on film. Yeah, it's
- 10:43Speaker 3: really really cool. So yeah it was.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It was really fun. If you liked The Last of
- 10:48Speaker 1: Us the first season, you're gonna love this one. If
- 10:50Speaker 1: you haven't seen it at all, it's uh, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: there's horror parts because it's like, you know, zombie type characters,
- 10:58Speaker 1: but it's really compelling and it's kind of gross sometimes,
- 11:02Speaker 1: but it's really good. So you might want to check
- 11:05Speaker 1: it out. And that's on.
- 11:08Speaker 4: X IS.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It's still in the trio. Man now it's still change
- 11:10Speaker 1: to HBO.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Again, right, Yeah, I don't know why to do it,
- 11:15Speaker 3: but yeah, so check it out. Check it out. Should
- 11:20Speaker 3: we do a few plug a us here? I think
- 11:22Speaker 3: we should.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Iice you guys, convince This as always over on the

- 11:39Speaker 1: want to be part of the crew, the spot.

- 11:47Speaker 3: We give them lots of perks. One of those is
- 11:49Speaker 3: getting a shout out here. So I would like to
- 11:51Speaker 3: give a big shout out to Marsha Grisi, act, Mary Fox,
- 11:55Speaker 3: Nanette Walkley, Yohem Bros, Head deb Olk, and Noah Flas.
- 12:00Speaker 3: You guys are wonderful, Thanks so much for your patronage.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And another perk that we like to give our patrons
- 12:06Speaker 3: is an extended version of every episode we put out.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Usually on these movie ones, we'll do a top five
- 12:12Speaker 3: draft that pertains to the movie we're talking about. Love
- 12:15Speaker 3: it and for this one, you know, we were thinking
- 12:18Speaker 3: about doing it for Back to the Future, but we
- 12:21Speaker 3: thought let's do it for Back to the Future too.
- 12:24Speaker 3: The Top five Christopher Lloyd Films draft, Oh, which I
- 12:30Speaker 3: was kind of surprised I'd seen almost twenty Christopher Lloyd
- 12:33Speaker 3: film me too.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I was at first, I was like, I don't know
- 12:37Speaker 1: if we'll be able to pull this off, and then no, Oh,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I guess no. And I like a lot of them too.
- 12:42Speaker 1: There's not too many like stretches in there.
- 12:44Speaker 3: So I think I've seen more Christopher Lloyd films than
- 12:47Speaker 3: Michael J. Fox films, but I haven't looked it up.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Well that's probably true.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Huh.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, Michael did a lot.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Of TV, so much TV, so there's that great TV.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Wait not just shoot me.
- 13:00Speaker 1: What was the one the New.
- 13:01Speaker 3: York He's Spin City, Spin City. I liked that show
- 13:04Speaker 3: a lot, dude, and you can't beat family ties.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Was he like the deputy mayor in Spin City?
- 13:10Speaker 3: Is that what he was doing?
- 13:11Speaker 1: It was something?
- 13:12Speaker 3: Oh it was political, yeah, in city hall right or
- 13:14Speaker 3: something like that. Yeah, I don't he was like he
- 13:18Speaker 3: was like the I don't know, the staff maybe or
- 13:21Speaker 3: something exactly. That's something like that. And it was probably
- 13:25Speaker 3: after the American President because he was so good in that.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, good call. It probably was no fun, I'll
- 13:32Speaker 1: fuck just good times. Well, great, we're here today to
- 13:36Speaker 1: talk about the second in our series that we definitely
- 13:39Speaker 1: knew the first one we'd already done. We're continuing it obviously.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Does this is Back to the Future Part two, celebrating
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's thirty sixth anniversary.
- 13:51Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, this is an eighty nine. Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 3: that's thirty six, right, because forty eight five. So yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 3: you got it.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So that worked, so that thirty six. Damn, these came
- 14:05Speaker 1: in a quicker succession than I thought. I thought there
- 14:07Speaker 1: was a little bit more time in between them.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Well, I mean it was four years, yeah, I guess. Yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 3: that was probably a lot back in the day.
- 14:15Speaker 1: But clearly like this one was shot at the same
- 14:18Speaker 1: time as three.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Right, because they even had a big part of the
- 14:21Speaker 3: Jimmy one, all that good stuff. So I digress. We'll
- 14:25Speaker 3: probably talk about that more, definitely will.
- 14:28Speaker 1: But we had to get a man who loves a
- 14:32Speaker 1: diverging timeline. He's a big fan. Yes, he loves fantasy. Yes,
- 14:39Speaker 1: he loves making noises. I think we can all agree.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I've heard it. He's like, if he was.
- 14:45Speaker 1: The sound effect guy, he would just make the sound effect.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He wouldn't press a button exactly. That's insane. Michael Winslow
- 14:51Speaker 1: that thing. Yeah, absolutely, but let's give it up for
- 14:55Speaker 1: our buddy Adam Rup.
- 14:59Speaker 3: What's up?
- 15:00Speaker 5: Up?
- 15:00Speaker 4: What's up? Rob? Damn?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Not a whole lot, man, We're just talking about movies,
- 15:08Speaker 3: and we're excited to have you back.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I'm excited to be here, right, Amazing. I feel like
- 15:15Speaker 1: it might come up. So just so you know, Rob,
- 15:18Speaker 1: we scheduled a podcast to do Back to the Future
- 15:22Speaker 1: Part one with Nate and then realized we did it
- 15:27Speaker 1: five years ago.
- 15:28Speaker 3: So with Nate, we're really.
- 15:31Speaker 1: On top of things around here.
- 15:32Speaker 3: About ten minutes before we were going to start doing
- 15:35Speaker 3: the podcast, Nate was like, he sent a screenshot of
- 15:40Speaker 3: our post five years ago saying that we were releasing
- 15:44Speaker 3: the episode on Back to the Future. Amazing, done this already.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So maybe we should ask it this way. Have we
- 15:51Speaker 1: done Back to the Future Part two with you at
- 15:53Speaker 1: any time in the past that you remember? Because we
- 15:55Speaker 1: don't know anything, I'm not sure.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Well, if we're following the press of the film.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yes, right right, see we're brand you.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Go back and yeah, and if we change the past, yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 4: I don't know a timeline.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Think I've gone cross eyes.
- 16:18Speaker 3: So yeah, it was silly, very silly.
- 16:22Speaker 1: We're so happy to have you here to talk about
- 16:24Speaker 1: this one though, because We feel pretty like sixty forty.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Confident that we've not done it before. So that's good.
- 16:32Speaker 3: We love it.
- 16:33Speaker 4: That's so funny.
- 16:34Speaker 3: We know we didn't. We didn't look into.
- 16:36Speaker 4: It, but I hope that you have done it before.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:40Speaker 4: I don't think we have because.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I really don't think. No, we haven't.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's but yeah, uh, you know I didn't ask you
- 16:48Speaker 1: this before, so my bad. But do you have anything
- 16:50Speaker 1: you want us to plug buddy for you?
- 16:53Speaker 5: No?
- 16:54Speaker 4: I know you got your Patreon, I got my No,
- 16:57Speaker 4: I don't have Patreon. I have my own websites.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Yeah, adam upmusic dot com. You can always go there
- 17:03Speaker 4: to see stuff. That's it cool love It's go to.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Home free music dot com. Yeah, check them out there.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah they're cool.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Well anyway, well, we're excited to have you here to
- 17:20Speaker 1: talk about this bell. I think we shoul just get
- 17:21Speaker 1: right into it. Rob, you want to hit us with
- 17:23Speaker 1: that reff synops?
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yes I would. In this Zaney sequel, time traveling duo
- 17:30Speaker 3: Marty McFly and doctor Emmett Brown returned from saving Marty's
- 17:33Speaker 3: future son from disaster, only to discover their own time transformed.
- 17:39Speaker 3: In this nightmarish version of Hill Valley, Marty's father has
- 17:43Speaker 3: been murdered, and Biff Tannon, Marty's nemesis, has profited. After
- 17:48Speaker 3: uncovering the secret to Biff's success a sports almanac from
- 17:52Speaker 3: the future, Marty and the doc embark on a quest
- 17:56Speaker 3: to repair the space time continue. Nice, nice good, read
- 18:02Speaker 3: good read Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Let's go to rotten to modes and hear what they
- 18:05Speaker 1: have to say. Critics have it coming in at a
- 18:07Speaker 1: rock solid sixty three percent, which is lower than anticipated.
- 18:12Speaker 4: That's dumb.
- 18:14Speaker 3: That's a little back to the Future one was like
- 18:17Speaker 3: ninety three. Yeah, so big drop off from the critics.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Very high audience members, though they still liked it quite
- 18:23Speaker 1: a bit. It was up at eighty six percent for audience.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Members, so that's which makes more sense to me, closer
- 18:29Speaker 3: to the reality.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, critics didn't like it. Let's go in here what
- 18:35Speaker 1: we thought though.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Let's get our hot take. That's a hot take. That's
- 18:42Speaker 3: a hot take.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I see flames from the tires, right ah, AnyWho, I'll
- 18:52Speaker 5: go first on this one.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I like this movie a lot. Upon rewatch, this is
- 19:00Speaker 1: definitely a setup movie for the third one more than
- 19:04Speaker 1: it is, you know, like it's kind of like a
- 19:07Speaker 1: one point five almost in a way, because we cover
- 19:10Speaker 1: a lot of stuff we did in the first one,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and then we set up a lot of stuff that's
- 19:14Speaker 1: coming in the third one coming up here. But I
- 19:17Speaker 1: still really like it. I think Zany is a great
- 19:20Speaker 1: descriptor for this one because it is it is much
- 19:22Speaker 1: sillier in a lot of ways, which is fun, and
- 19:27Speaker 1: it covers a really if we can get over the
- 19:30Speaker 1: fact that it's twenty fifteen, and that hurts my heart
- 19:33Speaker 1: a little bit because he didn't get flying cars. It's
- 19:37Speaker 1: it's still still don't still don't have them. I was
- 19:40Speaker 1: promised things, but yeah we are. It's fun to go
- 19:44Speaker 1: to the future and just see some of those things,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and they're really good in all these movies of tying
- 19:50Speaker 1: together things from the different films and the different timelines.
- 19:54Speaker 1: So like we have Mayor Goldie Wilson still but he's
- 19:56Speaker 1: the third now, you know, like we have all these things,
- 20:00Speaker 1: which is super fun and I love it. I love
- 20:03Speaker 1: it really fun. I wish I had a hydrader to
- 20:05Speaker 1: make pizzas like that. That sounds really cool and great.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah you just get a little one. It's a bit.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Huge, So I love that. Yeah, overall, I just think
- 20:16Speaker 1: this movie is really fun. It plays off the fun
- 20:18Speaker 1: parts of the first one while not taking itself quite
- 20:21Speaker 1: so seriously.
- 20:22Speaker 3: But there's still like.
- 20:23Speaker 1: That convoluted, you know, branching timeline stuff that I actually
- 20:27Speaker 1: think is really fun and a good time in this
- 20:30Speaker 1: one as well, and it leads.
- 20:32Speaker 3: To the third one really beautifully.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like my favorite part of this movie might be the
- 20:36Speaker 1: sort of the ending scene slash stinger into the next one,
- 20:41Speaker 1: because I just think that was so well played how
- 20:43Speaker 1: they did that and you feel hopeless and then it's
- 20:46Speaker 1: like what and all this stuff.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I just think it's really fun. So yeah, I think
- 20:51Speaker 3: that's it.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I thought this movie is also great, a great part
- 20:54Speaker 1: of the trilogy, but I think it is sort of
- 20:57Speaker 1: a It is a springboard into the next one more
- 21:00Speaker 1: than a standalone amazing film. But my hottest take is
- 21:05Speaker 1: I swear to you, I never understood the lingering shot
- 21:09Speaker 1: on his daughter, the McFly daughter. I never understood why
- 21:14Speaker 1: they did that. And then on this rewatch I realized
- 21:17Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox plays Marlene, the youngest daughter.
- 21:20Speaker 4: I didn't know that.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I never realized it. I swear to God, which is ridiculous.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Did you know Okay, So the reason they like focus
- 21:29Speaker 1: on her face when she's like, mom, are you there?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Is that it's Marty McFly apparently dressed as a young lady.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I never realized it, and so I was always so
- 21:39Speaker 1: confused by that shot.
- 21:40Speaker 4: I was like, oh, dude, I knew that when it
- 21:43Speaker 4: came out.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I feel like probably a lot of people did. But
- 21:45Speaker 1: I missed that for some reason, so me to so
- 21:50Speaker 1: super funny and weird. But that's that's my hottest take.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Like it's even, it's even. It's even in the trailer
- 21:55Speaker 4: when if you watch the trailer to it, it's like
- 21:58Speaker 4: Marty McFly asaracter Martin McFly as this character and he
- 22:03Speaker 4: goes Martin McFly as her.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's really great.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why I missed that, but I
- 22:09Speaker 1: certainly don't remember remembering it, so that there's.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Again who knows you were pretty young when it came
- 22:17Speaker 3: out that that is true? That is true. But yeah, buddy, Yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 3: very hot take. It had been quite a while since
- 22:28Speaker 3: i'd seen Back to the Future part too. I didn't
- 22:30Speaker 3: remember a lot of it, so it was fun reliving it.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I think I watched the first one and the third
- 22:35Speaker 3: one a lot I watched the third one. Yeah, me too,
- 22:39Speaker 3: but yeah, I was very entertained, especially especially since I
- 22:42Speaker 3: had just seen the first one, so it was kind
- 22:44Speaker 3: of fun having that fresh in my brain. It was
- 22:48Speaker 3: written by Bob Gale and Roberts Mechis directed by Zamechas,
- 22:52Speaker 3: just like the first one. Robert Mechis man so many
- 22:58Speaker 3: good films that one of your favorite? Who framed Roger
- 23:01Speaker 3: Rabbits Forrest Gump, Contact, Castaway Flight. The dude is killing
- 23:07Speaker 3: it and he's still making movies. I just watched recently.
- 23:12Speaker 3: He did that movie here with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright,
- 23:15Speaker 3: which I haven't seen that one yet. It was It
- 23:19Speaker 3: was pretty interesting. He's still finding new ways to make
- 23:22Speaker 3: films and like change genres and he's great. It was
- 23:28Speaker 3: nominated for one Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It did
- 23:32Speaker 3: not win, however, the first one did win Best Visual Effects.
- 23:37Speaker 3: The score is by Alan Silvestri. Still great. That main
- 23:42Speaker 3: theme is so iconic. I thought the cast was fun.
- 23:48Speaker 3: We got the upgrade of Elizabeth schu in this one. Yes,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and they went and kicked out Crisp and Glover, which
- 23:55Speaker 3: I had no idea. Nope, I didn't know that either.
- 23:57Speaker 3: For sure, they did a good job. I know I
- 24:01Speaker 3: didn't notice that back of the day, but he looked
- 24:04Speaker 3: like Crispin when he's like upside down. I didn't know it.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Looks like I didn't know it until about ten years
- 24:09Speaker 4: ago when I was looking into this around that twenty
- 24:12Speaker 4: fifteen time, and yeah, and then I realized, or maybe
- 24:16Speaker 4: I knew it before that too, but I was just
- 24:17Speaker 4: looking up because I thought Crispin Glover is such a
- 24:21Speaker 4: such an interesting person.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so strange.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And then I was like, I was looking up and
- 24:26Speaker 4: I was like, oh wait, he's not in that second one.
- 24:28Speaker 3: He was only in the first one.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Pretty nuts.
- 24:32Speaker 3: But I really loved how we get to see the
- 24:34Speaker 3: old footage from the first film from like different angles.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I do respect. Those are my favorite parts movie. And
- 24:44Speaker 3: I also love how we got to see them set
- 24:47Speaker 3: up the next film, you know, talking about like Biff's
- 24:50Speaker 3: great grandfather Beuford from the Old West, and Doc was
- 24:54Speaker 3: talking about how you wished he could go back to
- 24:56Speaker 3: that time, and then you get the actual clip.
- 24:58Speaker 4: It says almost if they were filming them back to back.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I'm all back to the future.
- 25:03Speaker 3: But I don't think i'd ever seen anything like that.
- 25:05Speaker 3: That's a neat I don't know that I have cool
- 25:07Speaker 3: sense even it was pretty neat. Yeah, it was fun
- 25:12Speaker 3: to see how they imagine the future would be in
- 25:13Speaker 3: twenty fifteen. They didn't pan out, and he really enjoyed
- 25:18Speaker 3: how they kept the manure bit. Yes, such a good bit.
- 25:22Speaker 1: It's perfect.
- 25:24Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought it was a lot of fun,
- 25:26Speaker 3: a little more cartoony, which threw me off a little
- 25:29Speaker 3: bit in the beginning, but I got used to it.
- 25:31Speaker 3: But yeah, super solid sequel in my opinion. My hot take,
- 25:36Speaker 3: Marty McFly worst boyfriend ever. He just leaves his past
- 25:41Speaker 3: girlfriend all over that. That's a good look for him, Like,
- 25:45Speaker 3: not cool.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Man, Yeah, he's he's just he has a weak spot
- 25:52Speaker 4: to listening to Doc Brown. True, it's true, which is
- 25:55Speaker 4: which is a lot of like the Rick and Morty parody,
- 25:58Speaker 4: you know, like you just yeah, makes poor choices listening
- 26:03Speaker 4: to this older dude that is just a friend and
- 26:05Speaker 4: not like a relative.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But why couldn't you just stay in the car?
- 26:10Speaker 3: Yeah the car.
- 26:14Speaker 4: So that goes and that also goes into a lot
- 26:16Speaker 4: of the plot holes. I mean, this thing is rife
- 26:19Speaker 4: with thought holes.
- 26:21Speaker 3: But it just makes him look terrible. That's all that's
- 26:27Speaker 3: for sure, no or any past present future. Yeah, not
- 26:34Speaker 3: a good look, thank you, thank you? All right, Adam, Adam,
- 26:41Speaker 3: What did you think, buddy?
- 26:44Speaker 4: Well, first, I got to correct an earlier statement I
- 26:46Speaker 4: was saying Martin McFly played those characters, which is dumb.
- 26:49Speaker 4: It's Michael J. Fox alright, I know, but I felt
- 26:53Speaker 4: stupid I was looking for I kind of fixed that. Okay,
- 26:57Speaker 4: that's done. Yeah, okay, So I'm trying to remember now
- 27:03Speaker 4: what you guys are saying, because I wanted to comment
- 27:04Speaker 4: on what you were saying in my take. But maybe
- 27:08Speaker 4: I'll just it'll come up organically.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I loved this movie the most out of all three
- 27:14Speaker 4: of them until like ten is years ago, when I
- 27:20Speaker 4: realized the third one was better.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Okay, I haven't seen the third one in a long time, and.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I remember loving it, so I'm excited to watch that
- 27:30Speaker 1: one again.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I was, Uh, I loved this one more back then
- 27:36Speaker 4: because of the fact that it was more compelling with
- 27:41Speaker 4: its plot. Sure, and I was hooked because at that
- 27:46Speaker 4: time when they were trying to explain all the time travel,
- 27:49Speaker 4: I'm just like WHOA. I was like kind of like
- 27:54Speaker 4: way into it, right, And then the third one had
- 27:56Speaker 4: none of that going on. It just was like, yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 4: you know, clean, like whereas this middle one was all
- 28:04Speaker 4: over the place, And so you're like your mind is
- 28:06Speaker 4: blown throughout the whole film, especially like when he goes
- 28:10Speaker 4: back to the nineteen fifty five time and you're seeing
- 28:14Speaker 4: all those scenes play out, You're just like, this is insane, right,
- 28:19Speaker 4: So that's why I'd love this one the most back
- 28:25Speaker 4: at that point in time. So yeah, I thought, I
- 28:29Speaker 4: think the crits are just being dumb on this film. Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 4: maybe it's just a product of when it came out. Obviously,
- 28:41Speaker 4: I just don't think it would hold up that well
- 28:43Speaker 4: as far as plot goes in today's standards. Sure, but
- 28:49Speaker 4: back then it just like was such a you know,
- 28:55Speaker 4: I guess I'll just say blow my mind again that
- 28:59Speaker 4: it it really all right coffee time.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I mean, I thought it was cool how they had
- 29:08Speaker 3: the branching timelines, and I feel like that was one
- 29:11Speaker 3: of the first times I'd ever seen anything like that,
- 29:13Speaker 3: and that you'd have to you know, if you did
- 29:16Speaker 3: one thing, it could totally change the entire future.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Yeah. But so, like you know, this gets into the
- 29:23Speaker 4: Avengers a bit that back to the Future is a
- 29:25Speaker 4: bunch of bulk. It's not true. That's not how time
- 29:28Speaker 4: works at all. Yeah, yeah, it's a it's a fun
- 29:36Speaker 4: way to be like, Okay, suspend this belief, you know,
- 29:40Speaker 4: like no one really knows, and like I can you
- 29:43Speaker 4: can see how they're trying to make logical sense out
- 29:46Speaker 4: of it, and like you can buy buy it. You
- 29:49Speaker 4: can buy the product, even though even though you know
- 29:52Speaker 4: the product is kind of full of sure stuff that
- 29:56Speaker 4: doesn't work. But uh yeah, so plot holes are just
- 30:03Speaker 4: all over the place, especially with the time travel stuff, like,
- 30:06Speaker 4: well that doesn't make sense, so that doesn't make sense.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Well that doesn't make sense, so that's it can be.
- 30:10Speaker 4: That's questionable, you know, all kinds of that kind of stuff.
- 30:12Speaker 4: But you you just kind of accept it because it's
- 30:15Speaker 4: just a fun movie to enjoy because it's more about
- 30:19Speaker 4: well what if is like the big Yeah, Like if
- 30:24Speaker 4: you put what if before everything in this movie, then
- 30:26Speaker 4: you can enjoy it and you don't get hung up
- 30:29Speaker 4: on all this the technicalities and stuff like that.
- 30:32Speaker 3: I rarely get hung up on technically.
- 30:35Speaker 4: But I do like if a movie, if a movie's
- 30:38Speaker 4: plot and like if a plot holes are bad, if
- 30:41Speaker 4: it doesn't make sense, like it can take me out
- 30:44Speaker 4: so quick.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Sure, and then it just like all they got to
- 30:46Speaker 3: do is explain it to me. All they got to
- 30:47Speaker 3: do is tell me the reason why it works. And
- 30:50Speaker 3: if they do that, then I'm.
- 30:51Speaker 4: That you buy the product. Yeah, yeah, thing.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's always like, as long as it sort of makes
- 30:55Speaker 1: sense in universe, I can I can go along, you know, like.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but all the right. But
- 31:04Speaker 4: that being said, the writing is so much fun because
- 31:08Speaker 4: they have all of these what if scenarios throughout the
- 31:11Speaker 4: whole movie that you get to enjoy. Oh, I get
- 31:14Speaker 4: to see this character in this scenario doing this thing
- 31:16Speaker 4: and with this other character, but what if it was
- 31:19Speaker 4: like this? And then you get to see that play
- 31:20Speaker 4: out And then it's like it's so fun because of
- 31:23Speaker 4: that fact. So yeah, that that was a That's why
- 31:27Speaker 4: I liked it a lot back then. See hot takes.
- 31:31Speaker 4: I don't know, it'll come up. I'll just interject when
- 31:34Speaker 4: I pops into my brain.
- 31:39Speaker 3: I love it. We're nonlinear. This is time travel podcast,
- 31:43Speaker 3: so we're good.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I'm very nonlinear today. I'm all over the place.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Yeah, all over the place. Well, hot take, hot take,
- 31:53Speaker 3: let's just try and focus all that energy, and let's
- 31:56Speaker 3: let's pick the dude, our favorite acting performance. The dude.
- 32:01Speaker 6: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 32:04Speaker 6: know that, or his dudeus or duder or you know,
- 32:10Speaker 6: el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Well I'll just I'll take Michael J. Fox and get
- 32:17Speaker 4: it out of the way, simply because he had to
- 32:19Speaker 4: play all those different characters. Like you look at the
- 32:24Speaker 4: credits and it's like Marty McFly, Martin McFly junior, Marlene McFly.
- 32:29Speaker 4: You know, like that's just really fun whenever it, you know,
- 32:36Speaker 4: an actor has to play multiple characters in a movie,
- 32:38Speaker 4: it's really fun to see that. And back then, I
- 32:42Speaker 4: feel like it was trickier to do that kind of
- 32:44Speaker 4: stuff because you know, the technology wasn't there, so you
- 32:46Speaker 4: had to be really like, how do we do this scene?
- 32:50Speaker 4: You know?
- 32:51Speaker 1: In fact, they used a new I think I wrote
- 32:54Speaker 1: down the trivia for it, but they used a new
- 32:56Speaker 1: technique and this was the first major motion picture where
- 32:59Speaker 1: they did it. They could have the same person on
- 33:02Speaker 1: screen twice with this new way of doing it, and
- 33:05Speaker 1: it was cool. It was neat.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Yeah, so really cool. Now that being said, this movie
- 33:10Speaker 4: is full of awesome acting and characters, so it's hard
- 33:16Speaker 4: to like, well, yeah, but that's not to say that
- 33:18Speaker 4: anyone else is not awesome, you know.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like we'll definitely bring that for sure.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Yeah. In the first movie, I thought Christopher Lloyd was
- 33:27Speaker 4: the best best actor, like not hands down, and that's that. Well,
- 33:32Speaker 4: that's because I feel like in the first movie, Christopher
- 33:34Speaker 4: Lloyd's character had the best reactions and the best moments
- 33:38Speaker 4: to be on screen, to be like that that drew
- 33:41Speaker 4: you to his character, you know, where Martin McFly was
- 33:45Speaker 4: more like the steady steady guy and he was reactive
- 33:48Speaker 4: too and had some comedy to it. But I think
- 33:51Speaker 4: that Dog Brown really shined in the first movie, and
- 33:57Speaker 4: then in the third movie he's he's like the main character,
- 34:00Speaker 4: you know, in my opinion, Yeah, the protagonist in the
- 34:02Speaker 4: third movie, which I think also goes into why I
- 34:06Speaker 4: didn't like the third one that's much back then because
- 34:08Speaker 4: I wanted to be protagonist, you know. Anyway, that's that's
- 34:15Speaker 4: my two Tucci.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Yes, and I agree with you, Michael J. Fox. He
- 34:25Speaker 3: just was so charismatic and you just enjoy watching him
- 34:32Speaker 3: on screen. He just pops off the screen does. But yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 3: seeing him be like his younger self kind of putting
- 34:42Speaker 3: on that point, I guess, which was also funny that
- 34:50Speaker 3: long weird jack it Yeah hmm, well, yeah, he was
- 34:54Speaker 3: the one that had the weird That's what I'm saying.
- 34:57Speaker 4: It would even like crack and like, which is amazing.
- 35:02Speaker 3: But he's just the man. That guy was so awesome.
- 35:05Speaker 3: I wish he would have done more movies. I would
- 35:08Speaker 3: have to see him.
- 35:09Speaker 1: It's interesting. I wonder, like, because he got his Parkinson's diagnosis.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I think they said in n one that happened, but
- 35:17Speaker 1: they they've been kind of keeping it a secret for
- 35:19Speaker 1: a while or something, is what I read, So I
- 35:22Speaker 1: wonder how much that played into it. You know, I
- 35:24Speaker 1: don't know, but I'm with you. He's a delight. He's
- 35:29Speaker 1: a delight, and it's a clean sweet because I picked
- 35:30Speaker 1: him as well. I just thought I thought he was
- 35:32Speaker 1: really great in this for all the reasons you get said.
- 35:35Speaker 1: He's just wonderful and fun and silly, and he's super.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Believable in this whole movie, which is.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Great, so nice love it. Should we talk about the
- 35:45Speaker 1: rest of the folks. Let's talk Toucci. But all right,
- 35:51Speaker 1: Adam what for this one?
- 35:54Speaker 4: Did we all just pick Michael J. Fox?
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it was an easy one.
- 35:59Speaker 4: That's interesting. All right, Well I'm gonna give it to
- 36:03Speaker 4: Tom Wilson and that one.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he was a of this film.
- 36:10Speaker 4: And you know, because I think Christopher Lloyd he was
- 36:17Speaker 4: solid as a rock, of course, right, but like I
- 36:20Speaker 4: think Tom Wilson had more to do in this one,
- 36:26Speaker 4: you know what i mean. Yeah, yeah, because again he's
- 36:31Speaker 4: so he's playing three versions of himself, which is his character, right,
- 36:36Speaker 4: it's just three yeah, but yeah, three yeah, which yeah, exactly.
- 36:39Speaker 4: It was just so fun. And then he also had
- 36:41Speaker 4: to do scenes where he's playing against himself, you know,
- 36:46Speaker 4: which is Yeah, it's it's pretty amazing. Yeah, And I
- 36:52Speaker 4: just love his his character and it's it's such a
- 36:54Speaker 4: fun little trivia. How much people hated him, you.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Know, he was pretty hate heable. I mean he's rough, yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 7: Yeah, which means he did it well, right, But like,
- 37:08Speaker 7: isn't there stories about that, like just at him as
- 37:13Speaker 7: a person out in the public or whatever, like people
- 37:16Speaker 7: hated him or something because they hated his character so much.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I'm sure it's something The only thing he really did
- 37:23Speaker 3: of note, Yeah, you know, just watched. I mean, so
- 37:26Speaker 3: they only know him as Biff Hand watched the other movie.
- 37:29Speaker 1: He's in the other one. I can think of the
- 37:32Speaker 1: heat he watched.
- 37:33Speaker 4: The Yeah, yeah, he's great in that. And I never
- 37:36Speaker 4: put two and two together because you know, age had
- 37:39Speaker 4: gone yeah too. So yeah, he more, he needs to
- 37:44Speaker 4: do more.
- 37:45Speaker 3: He I think has dabbled in stand up and I've
- 37:49Speaker 3: seen him do He does like a song about how
- 37:53Speaker 3: everyone asks him the same questions and so he has
- 37:57Speaker 3: like a whole thing like here this question, here is
- 38:01Speaker 3: his answer, and it's the whole It's it's a pretty
- 38:03Speaker 3: great song.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I get why people didn't like him.
- 38:07Speaker 1: He's like sexually assaulting people. He's bullying, violent towards his park,
- 38:14Speaker 1: you know, like all the things. So he's not a
- 38:17Speaker 1: great dude. He murderer, as we find.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Out, Yeah, straight up murders people.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Ye.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I was gonna pick Christopher Lloyd, but you made a
- 38:29Speaker 3: very compelling argument, and I'm gonna switch it to Tom Wilson.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I really do think that makes a lot of sense.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I just love Christopher Lloyd in these movies.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Yeah, this was a stronger one than the first one
- 38:45Speaker 1: from him. Yeah, not that he was bad in the
- 38:48Speaker 1: first one, but I think he gets more into like
- 38:50Speaker 1: the zany like you said he is. Yeah, I think
- 38:54Speaker 1: he reacts really well in the first one, but I
- 38:56Speaker 1: think this one he gets a little more meat.
- 38:59Speaker 3: On the Maybe it's the right way to say it,
- 39:02Speaker 3: but I don't. There's not a wrong answer for him.
- 39:05Speaker 1: He's just great.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 4: It's kind of like, yeah, it's it's one of those
- 39:09Speaker 4: like you guys get to share a trophy kind of city,
- 39:12Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that. Did you ever run her up
- 39:16Speaker 1: that you want to say?
- 39:17Speaker 4: Rob?
- 39:18Speaker 3: Well, I mean had those two and then it really
- 39:21Speaker 3: drops off. Man, I like Thompson was Yeah, I feel
- 39:26Speaker 3: like I just feel like Leah Thompson wasn't I didn't
- 39:29Speaker 3: get to show off.
- 39:30Speaker 4: As much prevalent.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah right, and that makeup, that old makeup. He's
- 39:38Speaker 3: just so bad. But yeah, I mean I thought the
- 39:43Speaker 3: very limited things they gave Elizabeth Shoe she did well
- 39:47Speaker 3: with be a part of this movie. You're passed out
- 39:50Speaker 3: for most of it. And I had such a crush
- 39:54Speaker 3: on Elizabeth Shoe when I was younger, from Adventures and
- 39:58Speaker 3: Babysitting and yeah, so that was just fun seeing her again.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Nice love it.
- 40:06Speaker 4: You guys should have another category, uh for like I
- 40:10Speaker 4: don't know what you call this, but like just that
- 40:12Speaker 4: one actor that has like this is kind of bit part,
- 40:14Speaker 4: you know.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we usually just bring it up at
- 40:17Speaker 3: the end of this. I'm going to bring one of
- 40:20Speaker 3: those up right now. Yeah, for sure there's three.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Elijah would this is one of his first performance.
- 40:26Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, it's like you wouldn't know that until someone
- 40:29Speaker 4: tells you and then you're like what, Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I had no idea until I saw the castle
- 40:34Speaker 3: and many chances to bring.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Up you know, I want to. I would love to
- 40:39Speaker 4: if you ever get the chance. Maybe like they should
- 40:41Speaker 4: do this on SmartLess or something like that, where they
- 40:44Speaker 4: whoever whatever actor they're they're talking about, they just like
- 40:47Speaker 4: only talk about the smallest significant roles like I Loved
- 40:52Speaker 4: You and Back to the Future Elia, it was so awesome. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 4: tell me how that affected your career.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Or like Sam Rockwell and Teenage, you.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Just keep going back to that movie.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Yeah, where Steve Carell was the one recently that we
- 41:10Speaker 1: were like Steve Carrell's in this I can't even remember. Yeah,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I should have brought it up because I don't remember.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Curly that's right.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, that's nuts. But yeah, Elijah Wood,
- 41:22Speaker 3: that blew my mind. Billy Zane was in the first
- 41:25Speaker 3: one and I didn't know that, and then the second
- 41:28Speaker 3: one he finally has a couple of.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Lines, so I'm a little confused. I'm trying it's who
- 41:33Speaker 4: is who is Match? His character's name is Match, But
- 41:36Speaker 4: I'm just like, I mean.
- 41:37Speaker 3: He's just one of those three Henchmen guys that's with Bessy.
- 41:41Speaker 3: And he was the one in this one where he
- 41:43Speaker 3: had like had a cowboy hat on, yeah, and like
- 41:46Speaker 3: kind of sounded like he was doing a Southern accent.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, it's not the.
- 41:50Speaker 1: One with the sound effects machine.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I was like, I was like, I'm looking at him
- 41:54Speaker 4: and I'm like, it's hard to to get it in
- 41:57Speaker 4: my head. You know. That's that's cool.
- 42:00Speaker 3: It's a very small role for him. And then and
- 42:02Speaker 3: then we had Flee from Red.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Hot, so that one stands out.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Yeah, the dude and on the video call ahead of
- 42:11Speaker 3: its time, that's doing some zooms, you know.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Uh.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Also, Joe Flaherty is the Telegram guy, which is fun
- 42:22Speaker 1: and I love that guy. He's the guys Happy Gilmore.
- 42:26Speaker 1: He's the siler guy.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yes, who's they're going to miss this button?
- 42:34Speaker 4: Who's the guy mcfoy? Who is that guy?
- 42:39Speaker 1: Which one?
- 42:40Speaker 3: Biff? Ten?
- 42:41Speaker 4: And no, no, no principle. But he gets fired.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that dude's name. I'm trying to Jason Scott.
- 42:53Speaker 3: No, that was he was part of the he was
- 42:56Speaker 3: part of guys. Yeah. Yeah, because Jason Scott Lee has
- 43:01Speaker 3: also been at a bunch, He's been all around.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's his boss, right, it's yeah, yeah, Oh, Jim
- 43:09Speaker 1: she recognize that guy. I think it's I think it's
- 43:14Speaker 1: Jim Sheeta. Yeah, it is totally, who has also been
- 43:18Speaker 1: in a ton of stuff. He was in.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Ye, he's one of the.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Like the other crew.
- 43:30Speaker 1: It's even weirder than that. Remember at the beginning when
- 43:32Speaker 1: the people fly into the to the rig and as
- 43:37Speaker 1: he's like walking them around explaining yes, yes, then he
- 43:41Speaker 1: sees the two of them I think getting it on
- 43:43Speaker 1: or whatever, getting out of her bed or whatever the
- 43:45Speaker 1: hell it is.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Yeah, anyway, anyway, here's your third category. Then, for for
- 43:53Speaker 4: what I was talking about, it you should call it
- 43:55Speaker 4: who's the flea?
- 43:57Speaker 3: Who's the flea?
- 43:59Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 44:00Speaker 1: Fested with fleas?
- 44:01Speaker 4: Yeah, the big part, the big part like this is
- 44:07Speaker 4: like very iconic. That is memorable, you know, I like
- 44:10Speaker 4: that cool?
- 44:11Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 44:11Speaker 3: And flee was he was funny, and it's like.
- 44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, like right, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it.
- 44:19Speaker 3: That was great. Good call. Uh let's move on. Let's
- 44:22Speaker 3: let's go to our favorite scene. Let's choose the dingus
- 44:26Speaker 3: socas is quite simple, really ingus ingus.
- 44:29Speaker 4: I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 44:32Speaker 3: This is tough for me. What did you think?
- 44:34Speaker 4: Oh? Sorry, what was the dingis again?
- 44:36Speaker 3: Your favorite scene? Favorite? Your favorite scene in this film?
- 44:41Speaker 4: Oh man, this is this is That's a tough. That
- 44:43Speaker 4: is a tough one because there are so many good
- 44:46Speaker 4: scenes that are just so fun. It's just it's kind
- 44:49Speaker 4: of a NonStop dingus honestly, because you're like, oh, I
- 44:52Speaker 4: want to watch this scene. Oh. I like as soon
- 44:54Speaker 4: as you start watching this movie, he's like, Okay, I
- 44:56Speaker 4: gotta keep watching. I can't stop watching this. Ye, I'm
- 45:02Speaker 4: probably going to go God this is you guys go first,
- 45:08Speaker 4: because I gotta.
- 45:08Speaker 3: I gotta really, I think my favorite one. I really
- 45:15Speaker 3: enjoyed the like recreating the enchantment under the Seed dance
- 45:19Speaker 3: scene where we get to watch Marty watch his dad
- 45:23Speaker 3: punch up if and then watch himself watch his dath
- 45:28Speaker 3: but it was very crazy. But then stealing back the Almanac,
- 45:34Speaker 3: having to take out the three henchmen guys that are
- 45:36Speaker 3: waiting for the other Marty to stop playing guitar on
- 45:40Speaker 3: stage so he can get him, and he like has
- 45:42Speaker 3: the the things come down on him upside stage. I
- 45:47Speaker 3: really loved that part and just being able to re
- 45:50Speaker 3: live that first movie over again and how much fun
- 45:54Speaker 3: that scene was and seeing him like go and Marvin
- 45:59Speaker 3: Barry like call up chuck all that. Yeah, I just
- 46:03Speaker 3: thought that was so much fun. I loved that.
- 46:05Speaker 1: That is great, and I love how all that happens.
- 46:07Speaker 1: So you it was happening in the other one but
- 46:10Speaker 1: not right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love that motif. That's fun.
- 46:14Speaker 1: That's a good call. I love that scene.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Do you think of one yet, Ruppers, I go that
- 46:19Speaker 3: was probably well you go, you go.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Okay, because I was between a couple. So I love
- 46:26Speaker 1: the the like rehashed scenes. Like you said, Rob, I'm
- 46:30Speaker 1: on board if we want to pick that. Those are
- 46:31Speaker 1: all super fun. And the chase like getting the Almanac
- 46:35Speaker 1: back is actually really fun. So I had a good
- 46:37Speaker 1: time with that.
- 46:38Speaker 3: So I was my runner up.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Totally agree with that. I have always loved the hoverboard scene.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I know it's a little bit of a rehash of
- 46:46Speaker 1: the skateboard scene, but it's so fun and I want
- 46:50Speaker 1: to hoverboard so bad.
- 46:51Speaker 4: That was right there, Okay, right on when such a
- 46:55Speaker 4: good scene when they introduced the hoverboard, dude, because every
- 46:59Speaker 4: single kid was obsessed from that moment.
- 47:02Speaker 3: They're like, sure, I want a horror board.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Like everybody wanted a hoverboard, you know. So, yeah, that
- 47:08Speaker 4: was my favorite scene. Is it still my favorite scene.
- 47:12Speaker 4: I don't know, maybe, but it was definitely my favorite
- 47:13Speaker 4: scene back then. Yeah, because you're just like, oh, hoverboard,
- 47:18Speaker 4: it was so fun. You're just like this is so cool.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Well, and then it becomes such a big part of
- 47:24Speaker 3: the ending scene on the car chase, you know, and.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Maybe this gets into your your back to the Future
- 47:31Speaker 4: three pod. But because we start to ask ourselves at
- 47:36Speaker 4: the end when the third movie, when he gets trapped
- 47:40Speaker 4: in the past, like how did he build that time
- 47:43Speaker 4: machine train?
- 47:44Speaker 3: Oh?
- 47:45Speaker 4: Maybe he used parts from the hoverboard. That was the
- 47:48Speaker 4: only thing of like futuristic technology, right that he kept
- 47:51Speaker 4: with him or had at its disposal. So it was
- 47:54Speaker 4: a huge like stretch to be like, because I remember,
- 47:58Speaker 4: like after the third movie, we were all like talking
- 48:00Speaker 4: to each other, be like, how the hell did he
- 48:02Speaker 4: build that train? You know when it like all he
- 48:05Speaker 4: could do was make an ice machine before that, you know.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I like your idea that he could use
- 48:12Speaker 1: the parts.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Maybe that's the only thing. Yeah, whatever, it doesn't matter.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I love that. I mean he had the whole DeLorean too, right.
- 48:18Speaker 4: No, because like so he goes back already goes back
- 48:22Speaker 4: to the present time with the DeLorean, so right. The
- 48:27Speaker 4: only futuristic piece of technology that brought Doctor Brown had
- 48:31Speaker 4: was the hoverboard at the very end of the train
- 48:35Speaker 4: scene when the train falls and then destroys into the canyon.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, interesting. Yeah, I don't know, that's uh.
- 48:45Speaker 1: But the other one that I had was the I
- 48:48Speaker 1: already talked about it, but that end scene where.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Like he gets by lightning.
- 48:53Speaker 1: And then yeah, the Western Union people come with the telegram.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I loved that and yeah, yeah, it was very was
- 49:01Speaker 1: the first like whoa, Like I totally didn't see it
- 49:04Speaker 1: coming obviously, you know at the time, or I thought
- 49:07Speaker 1: was so effectively done because it was you really do
- 49:10Speaker 1: feel him being like, oh no, he's gone, and then
- 49:13Speaker 1: immediately it's like, oh, you know, like I love that
- 49:17Speaker 1: whole thing.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Well for sure, Yeah it was. That was a great
- 49:20Speaker 4: scene because you were just your mind another like your
- 49:22Speaker 4: mind was blown because the guy comes and delivers it
- 49:25Speaker 4: and he's like, we've been holding onto this for a
- 49:28Speaker 4: hundred years. They had a bet to see if if
- 49:32Speaker 4: you were going to be here or not, and like
- 49:34Speaker 4: he just like to tell us what it is. We
- 49:35Speaker 4: gotta know.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's yeah, yeah, I do love that.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Uh yeah that was my other runner up.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, right good yeah, And honestly those were
- 49:50Speaker 1: all the ones I wrote down, so I guess I.
- 49:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's been chosen. Then ye. Let's do our
- 49:57Speaker 3: favorite quotes and let's show me the money, the money, show.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Him you're up.
- 50:08Speaker 3: I didn't have a ton of us.
- 50:10Speaker 1: I had a few. Yeah, I hear, you're not a ton.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I don't know. I don't I'll just say
- 50:21Speaker 4: the what is the name of the sports almanac?
- 50:23Speaker 3: The sports sports?
- 50:27Speaker 4: But isn't there like a first name to it? Like
- 50:29Speaker 4: blah blah blah Sports Almanac? When he says it to
- 50:32Speaker 4: Biff and the when the Biff's in the hot tub,
- 50:37Speaker 4: he's like parties over girls and he's like, yeah, what
- 50:39Speaker 4: does he say something?
- 50:40Speaker 1: I feel mad? Grays? Grays that's it?
- 50:44Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oh my god, you can buy it.
- 50:50Speaker 3: I'm sure I might have to buy this. Yeah, it's
- 50:54Speaker 3: fun thing to have.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I like that.
- 50:56Speaker 4: It's good. It's a fun thing to hold, like have
- 50:58Speaker 4: hang out in your.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's neat. I like that. The two of the
- 51:03Speaker 3: quotes are just because they are in the movies, all
- 51:06Speaker 3: of them. And you know where we're going. We don't
- 51:08Speaker 3: need roads.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Yep. That was my favorite.
- 51:12Speaker 3: I love yeah or great Scott, Great Scott is that?
- 51:20Speaker 3: But as far as as other quotes, oh, I love
- 51:25Speaker 3: when he sees Jaws nineteen and he said shark still
- 51:29Speaker 3: looks fake. So good. They're given Spielberg and he's the
- 51:35Speaker 3: closer of this, which I love. One part that I
- 51:40Speaker 3: don't think i'd ever really listened to because it caught
- 51:45Speaker 3: me by surprise and made me laugh. Sure, uh bif
- 51:47Speaker 3: tan and three hundred bucks. Three hundred bucks for a
- 51:50Speaker 3: couple of dents. Now, hey, that's book Terry, No biff,
- 51:53Speaker 3: it was hort. The whole car was full of it.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Man Jones. Eighty bucks to holo it away.
- 52:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 4: It was pretty good.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Pretty good. You don't it's not in the forefront.
- 52:08Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's in the back.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:10Speaker 1: They also they throw some swears in these movies that
- 52:13Speaker 1: I do think would be in the current day once.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean, now make like a tree, get
- 52:21Speaker 4: out of here. Smack. It's like a tree and leave.
- 52:27Speaker 4: He's like he's like angry at him his own self,
- 52:31Speaker 4: like you you know, he's called himself an idiot. I
- 52:37Speaker 4: just love that because we've all like done that. We're like, oh,
- 52:40Speaker 4: why did I say that? I'm so stupid? And that's
- 52:42Speaker 4: like to actually see that being able to play out,
- 52:44Speaker 4: it's so funny.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Well and imagine just actually seeing your younger self.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Yeah, seeing yourself actually do that thing that you hated
- 52:52Speaker 4: yourself for doing.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, that's embarrassing.
- 52:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so good.
- 52:59Speaker 3: And I had heard that he had originally improvised that
- 53:02Speaker 3: in the first one.
- 53:03Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that was in Trivia maybe the first time too.
- 53:08Speaker 3: I don't know it down. Yeah, like he came up
- 53:12Speaker 3: with that line that wrong, Tom Wilson.
- 53:15Speaker 4: That's amazing, which is so.
- 53:17Speaker 3: It's so perfect for that character. Like, it's so funny.
- 53:20Speaker 4: Well done, Tom.
- 53:21Speaker 3: I love that well. And then they got to do
- 53:23Speaker 3: that again with the screen door on a battleship and
- 53:28Speaker 3: he's like, dude, it's a screen it's screen door on
- 53:30Speaker 3: a summary. Yeah, yeah, what do you got bus?
- 53:37Speaker 1: I actually have quite a few. The one that I
- 53:39Speaker 1: always think of with this one because I loved the
- 53:42Speaker 1: harbor board seem like we said earlier, is the when
- 53:46Speaker 1: he's just like.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Half of boards don't work on water unless you've got.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good line. It's a good like just
- 53:55Speaker 4: how crazy he is what he says it.
- 53:57Speaker 3: It's just so like character.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he choose up that one line of dialogue, which
- 54:04Speaker 1: is I like.
- 54:05Speaker 4: It though, because you can be so free in who
- 54:09Speaker 4: that character is, because you have so much leeway that
- 54:11Speaker 4: all this character could be just a total tweaker unlike
- 54:15Speaker 4: yes whatever cyber spans and just like that's how it is,
- 54:19Speaker 4: you know, like it it fits it really well.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I love that. I also love the you may have
- 54:25Speaker 1: to use your hands.
- 54:26Speaker 3: That's like a baby's toy. Yeah. Yeah, I love that
- 54:35Speaker 3: setting up for the third movie as well. Yes, one
- 54:37Speaker 3: hundred percent that he's a crack shot. What else did
- 54:42Speaker 3: I have?
- 54:43Speaker 4: Oh?
- 54:43Speaker 1: I love the I love Doc Brown's I foresee two possibilities. One,
- 54:48Speaker 1: coming face to face with herself thirty years older would
- 54:50Speaker 1: put her into shock and simply pass out. Or two,
- 54:53Speaker 1: she encounter could create a time paradox, the results of
- 54:56Speaker 1: which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the
- 54:58Speaker 1: very fabric of the space time continuum and destroy the
- 55:01Speaker 1: entire universe. Granted, that's the worst case scenario. The destruction
- 55:04Speaker 1: might in fact be very localized, limited merely to our
- 55:07Speaker 1: own galaxy. I just love Marty's face when he's hearing
- 55:12Speaker 1: nuts shit, Oh my god, so fun.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:19Speaker 1: I also loved the principal who I don't think he's
- 55:22Speaker 1: a principle in this one, but we said his name.
- 55:24Speaker 3: I don't remember what it is now, Strickland. That's right.
- 55:28Speaker 1: When he's like, you've got exactly three seconds to get
- 55:31Speaker 1: off my porch with your nuts intact, and I bet
- 55:34Speaker 1: I loved that as a kid.
- 55:35Speaker 3: He said, nets nuts.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Let's see. Oh, when Doc is like, it's better than
- 55:45Speaker 1: I devote myself to the other great mystery of the universe.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Women, that's a good we were talking about Strickland. It
- 55:55Speaker 4: just made me think of another great line. When he
- 55:58Speaker 4: finally gets what he thinks is the sports Almanac from Strickland,
- 56:02Speaker 4: and he realized it's just like a porn old meg
- 56:04Speaker 4: and he's like.
- 56:05Speaker 1: That's right, that is a great one. Good call. He
- 56:14Speaker 1: reads that line so funny, it does. It's so good.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I also love when Marty and Doc when they get
- 56:23Speaker 1: back together and he's like, you're not going to believe this.
- 56:25Speaker 1: He's like, what we got to go back to nineteen
- 56:28Speaker 1: fifty five?
- 56:28Speaker 3: I don't believe it.
- 56:31Speaker 1: That's such a funny, dumb line reading.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Like yeah, yeah, yeah, the mechas just wrote a masterpiece. Honestly,
- 56:39Speaker 4: it's really the whole thing is just every line is
- 56:42Speaker 4: good and like.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Winks at itself, you know, like it's still believable.
- 56:46Speaker 1: The yeah overboard on being like this is kind of dumb,
- 56:49Speaker 1: but it does, you know. Yeah, Like I think he
- 56:51Speaker 1: says at one point, it's like something seems very familiar
- 56:54Speaker 1: about all this, you know, like, which is just it's
- 56:57Speaker 1: just a fun little allusion to it.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I didn't realize. I just assumed that the whole chicken
- 57:04Speaker 3: bit was in all three films, but it really didn't
- 57:07Speaker 3: start until this one. They really made it a thing
- 57:09Speaker 3: in this one.
- 57:10Speaker 4: They really did really went for it, yeah, chicken, Oh yeah, right,
- 57:18Speaker 4: it was so it wasn't in the first one.
- 57:20Speaker 3: Or not at all.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Right, they they made it because they wanted that to
- 57:26Speaker 4: be a big thing in the third movie, so that
- 57:27Speaker 4: they started it.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, it's pretty well. I think that was
- 57:33Speaker 1: all really the one the big ones I wrote down
- 57:35Speaker 1: for sure.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Nice. Well, then let's move on. Let's go to Mute's
- 57:39Speaker 3: Bluehoo ements the crying game. I don't think he cried
- 57:45Speaker 3: too much in this. I picked one, and it was
- 57:49Speaker 3: when we find out his dad died in the new
- 57:52Speaker 3: timeline and he like goes to the cemetery, right, Yeah,
- 57:57Speaker 3: I don't think you got super bent, super upset when
- 58:02Speaker 3: Doc left at the end, because we know that he's
- 58:04Speaker 3: just gonna see him in this twelve seconds he's Yeah.
- 58:09Speaker 3: But other than that, I don't think there's there's anything too.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that one did get me. Uh and you know what,
- 58:16Speaker 1: rather than belabor it, it was just the one. Yeah whatever.
- 58:20Speaker 1: This one, like we said, is mostly just silly.
- 58:22Speaker 4: It's just fun. It's just capta fun and enjoyable. But
- 58:25Speaker 4: now I just had another dingus came up, and that's
- 58:28Speaker 4: the very end of the of the the film when
- 58:31Speaker 4: he sends when the nineteen fifty five dark Doc Brown
- 58:35Speaker 4: sends Marty back after the lightning bolt, and then Martin
- 58:38Speaker 4: the fly comes running. That is that is wonderful, said.
- 58:53Speaker 1: He thought they just succeeded, and whoa, it's so good.
- 58:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it does the branch.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Thing because then they talk in the future and he
- 59:04Speaker 1: doesn't say like, and then I saw you again right
- 59:07Speaker 1: after the yeah, but.
- 59:11Speaker 4: Blood holes plot. Don't think about it too much exactly.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Just don't take timeline, don't worry about separate, just don't
- 59:17Speaker 4: worry about it.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Nice.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Let's do a little bit of movie trivia, shall we
- 59:22Speaker 1: do it? Let's see this was filmed at the same
- 59:26Speaker 1: time as Back to the Future Part three. It was claimed, Oh,
- 59:32Speaker 1: it was claimed at the time that in the four
- 59:34Speaker 1: years since the first Back to the Future, Michael J.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Fox had forgotten how to ride a skateboard. But it
- 59:41Speaker 1: has since come out that you know that he shouldn't
- 59:45Speaker 1: have forgot that in that short of a time. But
- 59:47Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox has since said that this was an
- 59:49Speaker 1: early symptom actually of his Parkinson's disease diagnosis, because you
- 59:54Speaker 1: lose a lot of that, like motor function stuff, so Yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 1: it's interesting that that came up and then sort of
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a deal afterward, which I thought was interesting. To commemorate
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: the release of the thirtieth anniversary Back to the Future
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: trilogy of the Blu Ray and the BDD release, a
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: short movie called Back to the Future, Doc Brown Safes
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the World in twenty fifteen was filmed and released.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Have you seen that? No? And I want to see it?
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: What in the world is that? Is that an actual? Like? Yeah?
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: Tell me? Yeah.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: So Christopher Lloyd reprises his role of Doc Brown, and
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: in the movie, he tapes a video message explaining that
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: he traveled to the twenty forties in the rebuilt DeLorean
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: discovered that it mentioned, such as the hoverboard and dehydrated foods,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: caused people to become massively overweight. And then there's a
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: glitch and all the mister fusion the nuclear reactor devices
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: on the planet cause a nuclear holocaust apparently that devastates
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: the world's population. And so because of all that, he
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: travels back in time successfully prevents the devices from ever
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: being invented, and that explains why the future twenty fifteen
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: as seen in the movie didn't come true in our
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: timeline here. So it's all like a way of saying,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: this is why we don't have flying cars and stuff
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Apparently weird, but it's but it's an actual movie.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: It's it sounds like it's a movie, but it's like
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: a short. So he it sounds like he's just kind
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: of giving an oral history of what happened, maybe for.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: You know, for the records kind of deal.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: But he's playing Doc Brown. I guess iah. Okay, I
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: gotta watch this because.
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: I know me too.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: I was like, well, you should find this.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: I didn't know it existed, honestly.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Yeah, same for sure.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: So the plotline of George mcflag being dead in nineteen
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: eighty five a timeline was based entirely on Crispin Glover's
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: refusal to do the sequel.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: So he there's a bunch of stuff about this, but
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: none of it seemed very definitive.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: He didn't.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: He had them rewrite the ending to the first Back
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to the Future because it kind of was like money
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: and fame are good, and he didn't believe that that's
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: what the family would care about. He thought they would
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: care about having each other in their lives. And everyone
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: being happy, and they thought that kind of created some
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: some angst, and so that's why he was low balled
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: on his offer to return for this movie. He declined
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: and so and then eventually there was a huge lawsuit
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: that happened because they used past shots with him in
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: it without permission, which has since now been worked into
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: like the screen actors guild their contracts and things that
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: you can't you know, use their likeness, their their likeness,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: except now with AI it's all becoming even weirder as
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: it goes forward. But I just thought that was really interesting.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: He ended up settling I think for close to a
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: million dollars is the amount that I saw seven hundred
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: thousand or something because they used his stuff without asking.
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: That's pretty will Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: But he didn't actually go through with the lawsuit. They
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: settled out.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Yeah, he settled out before right. Yeah, let's see. According
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: to Michael J. Fox, he found out there was going
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: to be a sequel to Back to the Future when
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: he watched the VHS version and the words to be
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: continued were added at the end. He immediately called his
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: engine to make sure he was actually going to be
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: in it, which I think is funny. Like, of course
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: you're going to be in it, dude, you're okay. But
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I guess they replaced the first guests.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: But that's how they but that's how he found out.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: That's crazy, isn't that crazy? Yeah?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Pretty nuts.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: Do you think they would have been like, Hey, we're
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: gonna do it a sequel and we're going to add
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: this to the you know.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: The yeah, like just so you know. Yeah, So the
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: ledge on the clock tower that Doc broke in Back
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: to the Future in the past is still broken in
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, which is kind of fun, very the fun
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: little thing to see. H Griff's full head or hoverboard
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: was originally to be called mad Dog to foreshadow mad
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Dog in Part three, but I think because they added Buford,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: they just didn't have it called that.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: I guess, I don't know. Let's see.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Zamecchis and Bob Gale we have admitted on the DVD
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: commentary that they were originally not interested in doing a
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: sequel to Back to the Future at all, and the
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: open ending of the first movie was simply meant to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: be a final joke and they weren't ever going to
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: do anything for it, but the studio pushed for it, uh,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: and they wanted to continue, you know, using Zamchis and Dale,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: so you know, they figured it out. But he even
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: says Zamecha says, if he knew that he was going
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: to make a sequel, he would have made sure that
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Jennifer wasn't in the car at the end of the
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: first film.
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: Because is that why they had to reshoot that then?
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: And they well and Elizabeth Shoe yeah yeah, and oh yeah,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: and I didn't include that because originally I thought we
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: were going to do the first one as well.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: What was the actor's first name, Wells?
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So Claudia Wells dropped out because her mother got
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: cancer so she went to take care of her. So
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: that was why the replacement happened. And apparently she runs
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: like a super high end clothing brand or something now,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: so she's doing well and they have like.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: Since done interviews together and stuff. I guess. And there's
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: no hard for you, so that's nice that Yeah, that
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: would be hard for sure, but.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I thought that was interesting anything to do.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: So they just kept having her knocked out.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Different and then you're going to pass out. Don't worry
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: about that.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: That's fine.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Let's see. Oh, the the new technique I was talking
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: about earlier for having two people on the screen at
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the same time is called vista glide. There's four scenes
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: where they do that, with people interacting with other versions
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: of their own character.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: The camera move in any of those scenes or is
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: it a static shot?
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Are they still so?
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I think there's still shots because in one of the
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: scenes you can see someone's hand disappears as they go
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: too far into the movie. Yes, exactly, it all comes together,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: that's what they tell us. But yeah, I thought that
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: was interesting. Let's see. Carl Sagan, astrophysicist, considers this the
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: greatest time travel movie ever made. He praised the accuracy
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: in handling multiple timelines as what would really happen if
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: time travel were possible at all?
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Wow? Just I guess.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Just when did he say? When? Did he?
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Let's see? The Zamechas stated that the high school dance
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: scene from fifty five had to have all the same
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: costumes because they were gonna be shot at different angles,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: and the production was nearly delayed because Leah Thompson's dress
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: couldn't be found even though there were three different versions
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: of it made for the eighty five movie, and she
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: eventually revealed to Zamechas that she still had one of
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the original dresses and drove back to get it and
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: then brought it back and that's what they filmed in
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: so she kept one, which I think is really funny, funny.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: But but Papa ba oh, there's the Claudioell stuff waited
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: the tagline for the Jaws nineteen movie. This time it's
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: really really personal, which is really funny. It also shows
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Max Spielberg, which is Steven Spielberg's son, as the director
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: of it. And then we already said.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: The shark still looks bake, which is Spielberg's frustration with
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: Jaws originally, which is really funny.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I thought this was interesting. So after Biff gets his
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: cane stuck in the DeLorean upon returning to twenty fifteen,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: he starts to thrash around in pain, but the reasons
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: never explained, and Zamechis has stated that Biff was experiencing
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: the same thing Marty did at the end of the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: first movie, Fading out of History. The idea was that
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: by going back in time to give the Sports Almanac
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: to his younger self, Biff somehow altered his own future
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: so that he no longer existed in the year twenty fifteen.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: According to drafts of the script, it was the Lorraine
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: who had shot and killed the abuse of Biff in
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: nineteen ninety six. And apparently there's a deleted scene that
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: makes us clear. But that so that's why he was
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: in such pain. I guess I just got to hit
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: himself with the cane or something.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: I think was my answer. I didn't think about it.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, there's a lot of plot holes there.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: There's so many.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: I mean, that's why they took it out, you know.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: Yeah, So okay, who.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Knows just before already and Doc leave twenty fifteen, there's
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: a shot of the time Machines control panel showing the
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: last time departed as November twelve, fifty five, six thirty
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: eight pm. If they'd have noticed that.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: They would have known someone used the time machine in
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: between when they did in this one.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: So I thought that was kind of cool. But yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: that was all the trivia I had, Rob, Did you
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: have any other I didn't.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: I didn't have any other, right, yeah, they didn't have
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: any other actors that were up for roles and things
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: So all right, Adam, did you have anything we neglected
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: to say?
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: I certainly don't have any. Oh yeah, did you know
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: that Leah Thompson is from Rochester, Minnesota?
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Minnisota. You can really hear it when she's
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: like old and she does her oh mighty. Oh that's
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: a good funny.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: No, I didn't know she was from here. That's cool.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's fine. Will there be a sequel judgment? Dude?
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Well there was, Yeah, we know there were. They talk
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: about it at length, even showed us clips, which was
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: so much fun. I loved I liked that. But do
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: you guys want to play a game? Yes, I made
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: a starting five for you where I'm gonna name actors,
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: five of them, and it's gonna be in a particular film.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: And when you know the film, you're gonna ring in
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: with your name.

- 1:13:01Speaker 4: that's not Danny DeVito in that movie.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: Ye oh, that's funny. All right, So we have Scatman Brouthers,
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Christopher Lloyd, Danny DeVito, muge. So the next name is
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Louise Fletcher.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: That doesn't help.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: And the fifth and final name is Jack Nicholson.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Yes, one floor over the Cuckoos.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: Sad is correct, that's another one. And Louise Fletcher was

- 1:13:35Speaker 3: that did sounds so two points. Wait so that, oh
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: that doesn't work with the theme. Then what were you thinking?
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Was your theme?
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: You?
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: My guess was going to be alternate timelines?
