- Sean Graver: So you've noticed a pattern at work and it's starting to wear on you a bit. Well, welcome back to Prayer Before Work. My name is Sean, and today we're gonna look at a situation that's that's a little too common. And so the pattern that you're noticing is that the people who say what they actually think, ⁓ who don't posture, they just do their work well, they seem to get passed over. But meanwhile, the ones who know how to work a room, manage impressions, Say the right thing to the right person at the right time. They're the ones getting celebrated, and you're left wondering if staying honest is actually costing you something. So the apostle Paul writes a short direct line in Galatians six nine that I think speaks to exactly this kind of ⁓ kind of discouragement. He says, And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season the we will reap if we do not give up. Now note there's a there's a timing built into that verse, not immediately, but in due season. And and Paul isn't promising ⁓ the recognition will show up on the same schedule as everyone else's promotion. He's promising that integrity isn't wasted, even when it's invisible for a while. And it doesn't mean you have to become naive about how workplaces work. Or refuse to ever build relationships or communicate well. I mean, being real and being wise aren't they're not opposite. But there's a difference between building genuine influence and manufacturing an image. Now one of those is sustainable and the other one isn't. And if you're the person who is actually trustworthy when it matters, that reputation outlasts the person who's just good at appearances, even if it takes longer. To show up. So let's pray. Well, God, it's discouraging to watch honesty get passed over while personality gets rewarded. But give us the patience to keep doing good work even when it i isn't recognized right away, and protect us from growing bitter and and protect us from becoming the kind of people who play games just to keep up. I mean, help us trust that real character outlasts image even If we can't see the proof of that yet. In Jesus' name, amen. Go make today count.
