- 1:14Speaker 2: It says spring day.
- 1:16Speaker 1: There's no snow, but everyone's still talking about the snow.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But the snow was gone. I did a lot of
- 1:22Speaker 1: press yesterday. We're talking about my dating app. That's not
- 1:25Speaker 1: a dating app. It's just on my Instagram, but people
- 1:28Speaker 1: are calling it a dating app and it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Was your socials team prepared for.
- 1:33Speaker 1: This, No, they're never prepared for anything I do. I
- 1:36Speaker 1: wasn't even prepared for it. I didn't realize how many
- 1:37Speaker 1: dms were going to come through, and you know, that's
- 1:39Speaker 1: just me never thinking things through. But I really do
- 1:42Speaker 1: want to let my people know, the people who are
- 1:45Speaker 1: listening to this podcast I am. I really do want
- 1:47Speaker 1: to help people meet each other. And I do want
- 1:49Speaker 1: to find like cool men for women to hook up with,
- 1:51Speaker 1: because I do believe they're out there and many of
- 1:53Speaker 1: them are getting divorced or have gotten divorced. So there
- 1:56Speaker 1: are good men out there and some of them, you know,
- 1:58Speaker 1: But like, we have to through all of this. So
- 2:01Speaker 1: I'll be getting updates right and I'll be giving updates
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm not. We're doing it. It's on so like it's happening.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I just need a bigger team of people and I'm
- 2:10Speaker 1: more of a bandwidth. But I have hooked up like
- 2:12Speaker 1: two gay guys. I've hooked up two separate gay guys,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and a straight couple have gone on a date.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I mean, you're a regular grinder over here.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So this is happening. It's working. It's just we haven't
- 2:24Speaker 1: figured out what the next you know, formal iteration of
- 2:27Speaker 1: my dating service is going to be. And I don't
- 2:30Speaker 1: even want to call it a dating service because I
- 2:31Speaker 1: can't commit to doing this, but I am going to
- 2:34Speaker 1: try and help anyway. That's what's happening in New York.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm leaving tomorrow. I have new shows that I'm doing.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I've just announced a whole new batch of shows for
- 2:42Speaker 1: the second leg of my High and Mighty tour, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: I've added second shows, and I am coming to all
- 2:48Speaker 1: the cities that I haven't been to yet that you
- 2:49Speaker 1: haven't seen, So go to Chelseaandler dot com. I'll be
- 2:52Speaker 1: in New York, Atlanta, blah blahlah of Vancouver, tons of places.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We just announced it. So I'll be performing and touring
- 2:59Speaker 1: through the end of the year, So come and see
- 3:01Speaker 1: me and go to Chelseahandler dot com for your tickets
- 3:04Speaker 1: for the High and Mighty tour. And then our guest
- 3:06Speaker 1: this week is very exciting. Who you know what? She
- 3:09Speaker 1: was real fucking funny and I didn't know she was
- 3:12Speaker 1: gonna be funny so funny. I was really not expecting
- 3:14Speaker 1: that neither. So you guys are in for a real treat.
- 3:17Speaker 1: She's an actress that you know from Daisy Jones and
- 3:20Speaker 1: The Six and The Night Manager. You can find her
- 3:22Speaker 1: in Netflix's Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen and
- 3:26Speaker 1: The Age of Innocence. Please welcome Camilla Morone. Okay, great,
- 3:31Speaker 1: let's go.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I see that you wear shoes on your couch.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I don't give a shit what you put on my
- 3:35Speaker 1: to your.
- 3:36Speaker 2: House, and I was like, should I take my shoes off?
- 3:37Speaker 2: From such a New Yorker? I'm like, do I take
- 3:38Speaker 2: my shoes off? What do I do?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Is that in New York?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Well?
- 3:41Speaker 1: New York is yeah, you go like a dead body
- 3:43Speaker 1: on the bottom of your true lie. I honestly don't
- 3:45Speaker 1: like when I think about moving to New York, which
- 3:46Speaker 1: at some point I will do because I have to
- 3:48Speaker 1: live in New York at some point. That's just hard. No,
- 3:50Speaker 1: And I'm from New Jersey.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Well now it's my fit. Not like my favorite pastime
- 3:53Speaker 2: is like converting people. I've made it at nine, Like
- 3:57Speaker 2: my number is crazy. I'm like really good at getting
- 3:59Speaker 2: people move to New York. Really and I find it
- 4:01Speaker 2: like like a weird test.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, no, it is a good you want
- 4:03Speaker 1: to be you want.
- 4:04Speaker 2: To live here? What? What?
- 4:06Speaker 4: What?
- 4:06Speaker 1: How long have you lived in New York?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Now?
- 4:08Speaker 2: I live in New York for three years? But I
- 4:09Speaker 2: act as if I like built the city with my hand.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I'm like the Brooklyn Bridge, I did it.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Okay, So what prompted you to move to New York?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Because you're from La, you grew up here, You're already raised.
- 4:19Speaker 2: My man went to school in Santa Monica. I went
- 4:20Speaker 2: to school in the Valley. I went to school all over.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I went to Beverly Hills. So I had divorce parents
- 4:25Speaker 2: that were fighting about, you know, where to live. So
- 4:26Speaker 2: I have lived everywhere. But then I just felt like
- 4:29Speaker 2: post pandemic. I thought it. You know, things changed obviously
- 4:33Speaker 2: in LA, and I just thought I wanted to do
- 4:35Speaker 2: something that I just wanted to like wake up and
- 4:39Speaker 2: go to the theater if I wanted to, which I
- 4:41Speaker 2: don't ever do, but I could do it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It's not usually yeah, usually in the morning.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So New York is crazy or I'm sure there is
- 4:49Speaker 2: some bit. I got a little bit, you know, bord
- 4:53Speaker 2: of LA, and I didn't want to be in the
- 4:54Speaker 2: car for so long, and I just was like, I
- 4:56Speaker 2: want to maybe go for a walk. If I want
- 4:57Speaker 2: to go for I haven't. I didn't recreationally walk in
- 5:00Speaker 2: LA in twenty five years. I don't think I ever
- 5:02Speaker 2: went for like a walk. Do you walk? No?
- 5:04Speaker 1: No, I don't walk here. I don't. I don't do
- 5:05Speaker 1: anything here because I feel I'm with you on the
- 5:08Speaker 1: LA thing, Like I was going to move to New
- 5:09Speaker 1: York and then this house kind of took longer than
- 5:12Speaker 1: I anticipated, and so I kind of put a pin
- 5:14Speaker 1: in it. But I'm with you about La as a
- 5:16Speaker 1: little as uh it's a little boring.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Well everything closes like nine pm. Like what if you
- 5:21Speaker 2: want to go to Koreatown at eleven thirty? Like I
- 5:24Speaker 2: don't do any of it, but I know that it's there,
- 5:26Speaker 2: so like I have the option. Yeah, right, I only
- 5:28Speaker 2: found myself being more fun in New York. I'll like
- 5:30Speaker 2: go to the comedy cellar on a random Tuesday night
- 5:33Speaker 2: when I can get in and all that. Yeah, that's
- 5:35Speaker 2: like fun for me.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Are you a subway person?
- 5:37Speaker 2: Like? I take the train everywhere. I mean, I don't
- 5:38Speaker 2: think you. I mean I get really sick in the
- 5:40Speaker 2: back of like ubers, and I hate being schlept and
- 5:42Speaker 2: I hate small talk. I hate I hate under like
- 5:45Speaker 2: the person that all the uber jars are like. I'm like,
- 5:47Speaker 2: how are you even like? Well, actually, my wife left me.
- 5:51Speaker 2: She's been sitting with my my best friend for thirty
- 5:54Speaker 2: five years, and I found out yesterday. And I'm in
- 5:55Speaker 2: the back like being shoved around Manhattan like a bound
- 5:58Speaker 2: to throw up in the back of a car. So
- 5:59Speaker 2: the train, yeah great.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I don't like underground transportation. There's something about that smell
- 6:03Speaker 1: that I can't get past. I'm very sensitive.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Trains are very clean.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I believe you, but I probably won't find
- 6:08Speaker 1: out about it.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I don't think you need to. You can sell this
- 6:11Speaker 2: house and never take a train again.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Or take trains for the rest of my life, depending
- 6:16Speaker 1: on how that goes. Wait, first of all, I can't
- 6:19Speaker 1: step looking at your eyebrows because they are so perfectly quaffed,
- 6:22Speaker 1: if you will, And do you use anything for your eyebrows?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Because my makeup artistated to me yesterday and I had
- 6:27Speaker 1: an eye I had never had. They were sticking up
- 6:30Speaker 1: kind of like yours and combed.
- 6:32Speaker 2: And well loved it. I've actually never the one thing
- 6:34Speaker 2: that I listened to my mother too. Things she was like,
- 6:36Speaker 2: don't ever get a tattoo because she's had to get
- 6:38Speaker 2: all her fergers removed, her transcamp removed. And then she
- 6:41Speaker 2: was like, don't ever touch your eyebrows. And when I
- 6:43Speaker 2: was a teenager, you know, like it was like cool
- 6:45Speaker 2: to do the nineties brow and it's the only thing
- 6:47Speaker 2: that I actually listened to her that. Now I'm like
- 6:49Speaker 2: kind of grateful that I didn't do. But I've never
- 6:50Speaker 2: touched them. I've never waxed or done anything.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So what do you do to bruss them like that?
- 6:55Speaker 2: I just yeah, I brush them.
- 6:56Speaker 1: They look good. They look really good.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You know, I have to embrace it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You're Argentine, right, And that's a prop way to say Argentinian.
- 7:03Speaker 2: I argely don't know Argentinian Argentine.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I was told it was Argentine, but I would say,
- 7:07Speaker 1: I mean, you should find out I'm Argentinian. I'll ask okay, yeah, yeah, please,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I say it correctly. Well, especially if you're not from there.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I want to pay with like the right amount of respect.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Argentine or Argentinian has to be politically correct.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You speak Spanish, yes, yeah, okay, And both of your
- 7:20Speaker 1: parents are Argentinian.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Or Argentine or Argentech's I don't know there. My mom
- 7:25Speaker 2: and dad are. It's actually a funny story. They're both
- 7:27Speaker 2: from Winnoes Aireis and Argentina, and they met at a
- 7:30Speaker 2: club called Tequila that is still a club. And my
- 7:33Speaker 2: mom was nineteen and her family were like all lawyers
- 7:36Speaker 2: and politicians and worked for the president. My dad was
- 7:38Speaker 2: a twenty seven year old male supermodel named Maximo Moron,
- 7:41Speaker 2: and she was like, I'm going to move to parents
- 7:44Speaker 2: with Maximon. We're going to make love and have babies.
- 7:47Speaker 2: And then like very shortly after, they very much did
- 7:50Speaker 2: make love and have a baby, and I'm that baby
- 7:52Speaker 2: and you're that baby. That's the only way they ever had.
- 7:55Speaker 2: And then what happened, I mean, what do you think happened?
- 7:58Speaker 2: I have a cloud gone Tequila and there was a
- 8:01Speaker 2: divorce about seven years after because of which is who
- 8:05Speaker 2: knows what was part of that divorce.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So you bounced around a lot between your mom and
- 8:10Speaker 1: your dad in Los Angeles? And how was that?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Oh? I mean I hated it. Like I had to
- 8:15Speaker 2: pack a little doggie bag every week and like bring
- 8:17Speaker 2: all my schoolwork and all my you know, like my
- 8:19Speaker 2: makeup that my mom would let me use. My dad
- 8:21Speaker 2: wouldn't let me. I mean, just like typical child of
- 8:23Speaker 2: divorce parents stuff. But I got to live all over LA.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I mean they were like my dad was like I
- 8:27Speaker 2: want to surf in Santa Monica. My mom's like I
- 8:28Speaker 2: live in the valley. So like the only person that
- 8:30Speaker 2: gets like fucked in that one in the car, I
- 8:34Speaker 2: was like, I don't want to sit on a freeway
- 8:35Speaker 2: ever again. But this freeway that we actually just passed
- 8:38Speaker 2: me here, that was my freeway. I know that freeway
- 8:41Speaker 2: very well. Were you triggered, Yeah, call my therapist immediately.
- 8:44Speaker 2: What are there?
- 8:45Speaker 1: But aren't there some advantages to having divorced parents, Like
- 8:47Speaker 1: can't you play them off of each other and kind
- 8:50Speaker 1: of use that to your advantage in some regard, not.
- 8:52Speaker 2: In the slightest, because they talk about everything. That's the
- 8:55Speaker 2: worst part about having parents who like got along after
- 8:57Speaker 2: their divorce or like sometimes got along because my mom
- 9:00Speaker 2: would like fact check, like is it true that she
- 9:02Speaker 2: said that you can do this and like at your
- 9:04Speaker 2: house and whatnot. So no, no, okay, there was no advantage.
- 9:07Speaker 1: There was no advantage.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Maybe like crying easier in a movie set when I
- 9:10Speaker 2: like have to think about my trauma. But that's pretty
- 9:12Speaker 2: much it.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And what about growing up in Los Angeles? How did
- 9:15Speaker 1: that inform your life? And I mean you you dropped
- 9:18Speaker 1: out of school high school at fifteen, right.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I mean I went to independent Studies. I got my
- 9:22Speaker 2: ged and I studied at like independent studies, which was
- 9:25Speaker 2: basically my way out of being like I'm a working actor.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I was not a working actor yet, but I was
- 9:29Speaker 2: modeling then, and I got to do like home study
- 9:32Speaker 2: where you like bring your work to school, you kind
- 9:34Speaker 2: of google the answers and then you like send it
- 9:36Speaker 2: back and I still got to graduate with my class
- 9:38Speaker 2: and like throw my cap and gown and all that.
- 9:41Speaker 2: But I mean growing up in LA I mean, I
- 9:44Speaker 2: guess you don't realize. Like last night, I was driving
- 9:46Speaker 2: through Beverly Hills and I was showing someone. I was like,
- 9:49Speaker 2: oh my god, that was like my Riote Aid and
- 9:50Speaker 2: that was my Mulberry's pizza and that was my Chipotle.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He's like, that's insane. That Beverly Hills was like your Chipotle,
- 9:56Speaker 2: your Chipotle and your pizza shop. Like that's not normal local. Yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's insane. Even when I call Verizon and I'm like
- 10:02Speaker 2: giving them my zip code, they're like nine o two,
- 10:04Speaker 2: like the show, Like it doesn't feel like that when
- 10:07Speaker 2: you're from here, but like, I guess it really was
- 10:09Speaker 2: that to the rest of the world.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I always find that my girlfriends that grew up in
- 10:12Speaker 1: La have like their frame of reference and their their
- 10:16Speaker 1: reality is so far afield from what's happening in the
- 10:19Speaker 1: rest of the world, especially when you grow up in
- 10:22Speaker 1: a nine o two and zero ericode and you don't leave,
- 10:25Speaker 1: Like it's so nice to hear that you left, Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: because you have to have a sense of what's happening
- 10:30Speaker 1: in the world and it's not here.
- 10:32Speaker 2: That's like even getting on the subway in New York,
- 10:34Speaker 2: the train, I think it's like you see like the
- 10:36Speaker 2: Chikh woman who's from the Uppersia and she's got her
- 10:38Speaker 2: first code on and then you see somebody else who's
- 10:40Speaker 2: like an artist from Brooklyn, you can tell them they're
- 10:42Speaker 2: like making music on the train. I think just like
- 10:44Speaker 2: people actually need to pay their rent in New York
- 10:46Speaker 2: in a very serious way because New York is so expensive,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and I think that you just like have real humans.
- 10:52Speaker 2: It's I would say the best thing about New York
- 10:54Speaker 2: is it's less Hollywood concentrated. That's right, Like you don't
- 10:57Speaker 2: run into an actor or screenwriter, producer even there's nothing
- 11:00Speaker 2: wrong with those people because I am one of them.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But there's something wrong with all of those people. I'm
- 11:06Speaker 1: just you ple on the record, I will.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Go, yeah, you can translate the word yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 11:14Speaker 2: But I think that's like it was just a little
- 11:16Speaker 2: bit of a breather. Not everybody's doing something in the
- 11:19Speaker 2: industry all the time.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and that is refreshing because you meet different types
- 11:22Speaker 1: of people and you're like, oh, that's interesting, and it
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of peaks your interest to get like to get
- 11:26Speaker 1: involved in other things that normally, you know, you might
- 11:29Speaker 1: not be You're not you know. I think the thing
- 11:30Speaker 1: in La is everyone kind of sticks to their home
- 11:33Speaker 1: base a lot. Yeah, your neighborhood and you don't get
- 11:36Speaker 1: out of your comfort zone. Like I just went to
- 11:39Speaker 1: this thing last night, and it's like I know all
- 11:40Speaker 1: the people that were there. I'm like, there wasn't a
- 11:42Speaker 1: new person, you know what I mean. I'm like, I
- 11:44Speaker 1: never meet anyone new here.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I heard this thing once that La is a city
- 11:48Speaker 3: that happens behind closed doors, and I feel like that's
- 11:50Speaker 3: so true, Like it's a party, or it's at a restaurant,
- 11:53Speaker 3: or it's it's all inside somewhere.
- 11:54Speaker 2: But don't you even go to the same like five restaurants.
- 11:56Speaker 2: And I do feel like living in New York, you
- 11:58Speaker 2: like push yourself to be a little bit more exploratory
- 12:01Speaker 2: and go out in trainy things.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I also think, like for someone my age, is important
- 12:05Speaker 1: to move to New York because as you get older,
- 12:07Speaker 1: like you want to be vibrant and like, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: like otherwise, I'll just take a Xanax at seven o'clock
- 12:11Speaker 1: and go to bed.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And by the way you do it in New York,
- 12:14Speaker 2: you can also do People are like when you go
- 12:16Speaker 2: to New York, you have to be NonStop. I'm like,
- 12:17Speaker 2: I take a NIX at eight thirty three nights week.
- 12:20Speaker 5: I love it.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Somebody told me right now ten am, guys, I wouldn't know.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk about your projects because there are a
- 12:28Speaker 1: lot of them we have to discuss. First of all,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you're in The Night Manager too, which is out. Everyone
- 12:32Speaker 1: can watch that Night Man. It took enough. It's fucking
- 12:35Speaker 1: time for them to come out with the sequel.
- 12:36Speaker 2: That it was like a toddler when the first one was.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But the first one was in Crazy Blay and the
- 12:43Speaker 1: second one is really really awesome too. So it's great
- 12:47Speaker 1: because sometimes the second seasons of series do not stack up,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and this one absolutely does. And that's where I first
- 12:53Speaker 1: noticed your eyebrows. To be honest with you, I don't
- 12:55Speaker 1: want to focus so much like Browgate.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Yeah, like.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Anastasia Brown jail.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Okay, I mean that's what you used. I mean yesterday.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I mean I didn't use it todaybviously.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Sometimes I think my mom Mom was like I do.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I went through her phrase. I was like over slacking them,
- 13:11Speaker 2: like it kind of looks like you've been on like
- 13:12Speaker 2: a mo ped and just like took took.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Your looks like there's actually in that.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't Sometimes the jol comes out and then that
- 13:19Speaker 1: looks like somebody.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I thinted out always I'm a virgin.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Actually, don't talk to me about the filming. Where did
- 13:25Speaker 1: you get to go on location for a night?
- 13:28Speaker 2: So we started in London and then we went to Columbia.
- 13:30Speaker 2: We did five different cities in Colombia, and then we
- 13:33Speaker 2: finished in Spain in the Canary Islands.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And then anything. Oh, and you just got back from
- 13:39Speaker 1: Sevilla last night.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You got back from Seville. I don't, I don't know.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That's another one, sa sevil savha. That's my penelope cruise.
- 13:50Speaker 2: We're going to execute me when I went in Spain
- 13:52Speaker 2: next time, like shes Yeah. Yeah, we were in Seville
- 13:57Speaker 2: finishing the Age of Innocence yesterday.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Okay, so that's another movie, other one, And then you
- 14:01Speaker 1: have something very bad is going to happen, which is
- 14:04Speaker 1: this week, which is this week, which is from the
- 14:06Speaker 1: guys who did Stranger Things. Yeah, okay, this is the
- 14:09Speaker 1: first thing that they've done out of Stranger Things it
- 14:11Speaker 1: would like you to produce. Okay, okay, the first thing
- 14:13Speaker 1: that they've executive produced from Stranger Things. So let's focus
- 14:16Speaker 1: on one project and talk about that first, which was
- 14:18Speaker 1: sad to start with.
- 14:19Speaker 2: My eye let's go back. No, Okay, what do you want?
- 14:22Speaker 2: What do you want to know?
- 14:23Speaker 3: I as a horror fan, I love or okay, great,
- 14:27Speaker 3: I love something very bad. But I also love that
- 14:29Speaker 3: you got to work with a woman showrunner, right, great showrunner?
- 14:32Speaker 2: Which is now It's so funny because people bring this
- 14:34Speaker 2: up in interviews, but I feel like I got into
- 14:36Speaker 2: the industry at probably a turning point because I've like
- 14:38Speaker 2: almost exclusively worked with female directors, which is crazy because
- 14:42Speaker 2: I guess I say it to people and they're like,
- 14:43Speaker 2: oh my god, that's so rare because of course it's
- 14:45Speaker 2: not where the industry was ten years ago.
- 14:47Speaker 1: That is so nice to hear.
- 14:49Speaker 2: But I the last I mean, the last five things
- 14:51Speaker 2: I've done have all been even on TV shows like
- 14:53Speaker 2: Age of Innocence, three female directors, something very about three
- 14:55Speaker 2: different female directors. I worked for Patri Sharkt on Gonzo Girl.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Oh God, tell us about Patricia account She's well, she's
- 15:03Speaker 1: the fucking I will. I'm totally going to reach out
- 15:06Speaker 1: to her. We need to reach out to her.
- 15:07Speaker 2: She's she's a who.
- 15:08Speaker 1: She's awesome.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, she's also like very like kooky hippie, Like I
- 15:13Speaker 2: won't talk to Patricia for six months and then she'll
- 15:16Speaker 2: send me like all these endometriosis like herbal medicines. So
- 15:19Speaker 2: she found on an Indiana account, like how'd you even
- 15:21Speaker 2: find this part of the web? Like what are you on?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Every time I come across some weird Instagram account, Patrica
- 15:26Speaker 2: Arcuat has liked it, like how to make your house
- 15:29Speaker 2: feel weird? And it's like and then also my favorite
- 15:33Speaker 2: part about Patricia, she's the best. She she'll comment on
- 15:37Speaker 2: people are like, you feel bad about your life? My
- 15:39Speaker 2: husband did this to me after thirty years and she's like,
- 15:41Speaker 2: you should have left that man thirty years ago. And
- 15:43Speaker 2: she'll comment publicly on her account, and then she gets
- 15:46Speaker 2: a conversation with people on Instagram.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I know, I love it. I love that behavior. I
- 15:49Speaker 1: like odd behavior.
- 15:50Speaker 2: And I'm like, did I tell her that? Like everything's
- 15:52Speaker 2: public on Instagram?
- 15:53Speaker 4: Just kid?
- 15:54Speaker 1: She gives a shit, you know what I mean? I
- 15:55Speaker 1: think when you get to a certain age, I'm there,
- 15:57Speaker 1: you do not care. You're just out there doing your
- 15:59Speaker 1: thing and you're like, listen, I've already got my shit together,
- 16:02Speaker 1: Like it's you're not. It's someone like her who is
- 16:04Speaker 1: like so solid, Like who's that what's somebody going.
- 16:07Speaker 2: She's getting involved. I'm like a place I don't want
- 16:10Speaker 2: to say anything about anyone or anything, hurt anything. And
- 16:13Speaker 2: then she's just like, what do you want to know?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 16:15Speaker 1: So how was she as a director?
- 16:18Speaker 2: Oh my god, Patricia's she's hilarious. She's very like, she's
- 16:22Speaker 2: very kind of energetic and I would say emotional, and
- 16:25Speaker 2: I think having been an actor, she really doesn't hover
- 16:28Speaker 2: and so she really kind of lets you find it.
- 16:30Speaker 2: And I'd even go up to her after takes and
- 16:32Speaker 2: be such like an anxious people pleaser, and I was like,
- 16:34Speaker 2: what did you think? Did you like it? She's like, honey,
- 16:36Speaker 2: everything you do is good, like everything is interesting, and
- 16:39Speaker 2: just try something else. If you don't feel it, like,
- 16:41Speaker 2: let's try something else. And I was like, okay, I'm
- 16:45Speaker 2: like calling my therapist. I'm like being validated feels so good.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I didn't know this, and well, like, okay, so that's
- 16:52Speaker 1: one female director. I'm the night manager.
- 16:54Speaker 2: You did?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Did you have female director director? Okay, Georgie? And then
- 16:57Speaker 1: you got to speak Spanish and English on that and
- 17:00Speaker 1: have you done that before?
- 17:01Speaker 2: And no, I haven't. And I also did Colombian, which
- 17:03Speaker 2: is super different.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yes, because I took my first Spanish last My first
- 17:07Speaker 1: Spanish maestra was from Colombia, and she was like, that
- 17:11Speaker 1: is the Spanish, Like the Spanish that you need to
- 17:14Speaker 1: learn is Colombian.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And I'm like, I just.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Feels like there's a neutral.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Supposedly Spain. Spanish is like the Spanish. But I was like,
- 17:24Speaker 3: there's way more people who live in South America who
- 17:26Speaker 3: speak a different kind of Spanish.
- 17:27Speaker 2: That Spain, and like not understanding there, like.
- 17:34Speaker 1: List, I can't.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they use the word a lot, which means to fuck.
- 17:40Speaker 2: They use it for everything.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Okay, so that was night Manager, you got to go
- 17:47Speaker 1: to all these fun places and that was not why
- 17:50Speaker 1: you were in Sevilla.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Though, No, that was Age of Innocence.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Age of Innocence was why you're in Seville. That's not
- 17:55Speaker 1: out yet.
- 17:55Speaker 2: That is not out because I wrapped it yesterday, so okay,
- 17:57Speaker 2: this is okay.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So well so I shot okay, so it doesn't matter.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I just want to keep track of the fact that
- 18:05Speaker 1: you have four different projects going. Okay, so people who
- 18:07Speaker 1: watching this, no, which one were my shotguns?
- 18:10Speaker 2: A Girl with Patricia Arquette, the story about Hunter s Thompson.
- 18:13Speaker 2: We love that that was a film, and then we
- 18:14Speaker 2: did Night Manager in all those amazing countries, and then
- 18:17Speaker 2: Something Very Bad, which is coming out this week.
- 18:19Speaker 1: How do you feel about horror films in general?
- 18:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh kaes, this is what we're talking about.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I actually wasn't a horror fan growing up. Like I
- 18:26Speaker 2: saw the trailer or a poster for Chucky and I
- 18:28Speaker 2: didn't sleep for fifteen years. Like I created the story
- 18:31Speaker 2: of what Chuck he does. I don't even need to
- 18:32Speaker 2: know the plot line. I was like, it's a little redheaded,
- 18:35Speaker 2: creepy doll that's like under the bed and stuff, and
- 18:37Speaker 2: I know he's out to get me. Yeah. And then
- 18:39Speaker 2: I saw When a Stranger Calls, which destroyed me. Still
- 18:42Speaker 2: to this day, if I see uknown number on my phone,
- 18:44Speaker 2: I'm certain of someone the call is coming from inside
- 18:46Speaker 2: the house. And I was totally traumatized my whole childhood
- 18:50Speaker 2: and I would like make my dad check the bed
- 18:51Speaker 2: and all the things. And then when I got a
- 18:54Speaker 2: little older, and actually for this project, I started watching
- 18:57Speaker 2: like a wider range of horror films that like weren't
- 18:59Speaker 2: meant to like traumatize you for life, and I fall
- 19:03Speaker 2: in love with horror. Yeah, I really love it now.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I feel like is better to watch for me personally
- 19:08Speaker 1: because I have like a jumping in stink. Yeah, is
- 19:13Speaker 1: a on a plane when I'm surrounded by people.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Right. I never watched something at night right and during
- 19:19Speaker 2: the day.
- 19:19Speaker 1: But I can be on a plane at night as
- 19:21Speaker 1: long as the window's open, then I'm okay. And if
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'm on this inf I'm on the window.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I do daytime always, and I will probably most of
- 19:28Speaker 2: the time cover one of my sensories, Like if it's
- 19:31Speaker 2: something scary, I'll probably cover my ears. So I don't
- 19:33Speaker 2: get both. I can't like watch something scary and hear
- 19:35Speaker 2: something scary. I have to pick.
- 19:36Speaker 1: What about violence?
- 19:38Speaker 2: I don't like love blood and guts and horror, like
- 19:40Speaker 2: I don't. I don't love that. And that's what I
- 19:41Speaker 2: love about the shows that it's not like organs filling
- 19:44Speaker 2: out and like row nails being rippy.
- 19:45Speaker 3: It's like just a creepy ambiyonce. And what I liked
- 19:48Speaker 3: about it too is they'll set something up and you're like, Okay,
- 19:52Speaker 3: you know this girl is like going into these scenarios
- 19:54Speaker 3: and it's very creepy and like, why doesn't she and
- 19:56Speaker 3: then they solve it, and then there's like a new scenario,
- 19:59Speaker 3: so it's like it's not just like a one and done,
- 20:01Speaker 3: Like there's a real layered story.
- 20:03Speaker 1: There, and sometimes that's creepier than the actual. But I
- 20:06Speaker 1: really don't like violence, Like when I see men hitting
- 20:09Speaker 1: men or women violence against women, I cannot watch it all.
- 20:13Speaker 1: But I just can't even watch it. I end up
- 20:14Speaker 1: closing my eyes half the movie. So if it's too violent,
- 20:17Speaker 1: it's like a weight it's wasted on me.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, this show is cool because it's more of a
- 20:23Speaker 2: psychological thriller I think than like and I think maybe
- 20:25Speaker 2: perhaps they don't like the traditional horror in the sense
- 20:28Speaker 2: of like blood and guts and violence. I like more
- 20:32Speaker 2: of the slow burn psychological torture.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You know who else is Argentinian or Argentine? Anya?
- 20:37Speaker 3: Anya Taylor Joy?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know her?
- 20:40Speaker 2: She was just in Progue when I was filming and
- 20:41Speaker 2: we didn't get to meet up, but she was filming something.
- 20:43Speaker 2: But we know each other just casually from like award
- 20:46Speaker 2: shows and stuff. Since I go to so many awards.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Its probably one that it's so funny.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Because I was at Glastonbury this year, I met her
- 20:51Speaker 1: at Glastonbury and she was in the crew that I
- 20:54Speaker 1: was hanging out with, and I had no idea she
- 20:56Speaker 1: was Argentinian or Argentine We're gonna get to the bottom of.
- 21:00Speaker 2: This, or someone will for us exactly. Yeah, don't worry,
- 21:05Speaker 2: they'll get to us before we can even get to Yes.
- 21:07Speaker 1: But we had this beautiful conversation which I've been kind
- 21:09Speaker 1: of taking on the road with me and taking ownership
- 21:12Speaker 1: of because it was about ascension, like about how women
- 21:15Speaker 1: are never like cooked. We're constantly growing and constantly learning.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Because we were talking about our age differences, and I
- 21:21Speaker 1: was experiencing like a really fun career moment at that time,
- 21:24Speaker 1: and I was like, she's like, that's so awesome, and
- 21:26Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I'm fifty years old, Like how
- 21:28Speaker 1: can you believe like that? That's like a peak that
- 21:31Speaker 1: I never thought I would peak or have.
- 21:32Speaker 2: A more basic diapter.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you're told after forty that you're like useless. Yeah,
- 21:37Speaker 1: And I'm like, some of my best career moments have
- 21:39Speaker 1: happened between forty and fifty, and now that I'm fifty one,
- 21:42Speaker 1: I just turned fifty one, I'm like, I'm more excited
- 21:44Speaker 1: now than ever because I look at everything as an ascension.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Like now, I'm like, as long as women are here,
- 21:49Speaker 1: especially for women, as long as we're here, we're in
- 21:51Speaker 1: ascension where and when we die then it's over. Like
- 21:54Speaker 1: the idea that you can't do something like I learned
- 21:56Speaker 1: how to be a kick ask heier when I was
- 21:57Speaker 1: like forty three forty four years old. People usually are like,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I didn't learn how to ski? Well why I was.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Thankful to my parents because I'm not like those skiers
- 22:04Speaker 2: on the slopes that has like the little hit movements.
- 22:06Speaker 2: And they've all been in classince there were two. And
- 22:08Speaker 2: I was like you and I. He's never made me
- 22:09Speaker 2: stick to any sports, and now I'm not good at anything,
- 22:12Speaker 2: like I hate you guys. But they were like, you
- 22:13Speaker 2: can go out there and try. So it's good to
- 22:15Speaker 2: know that I can become a great skier and now I.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Can ski ski. Most people like that. I even meet,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you know, people that live in with I have a
- 22:21Speaker 1: house in Whistle, Canada. When I go there, like people
- 22:23Speaker 1: that live there, I ski better than they do.
- 22:25Speaker 2: My mom got dropped. She on helly skiing yesterday in
- 22:27Speaker 2: Switzerland called me from the bottom hysterically crying. She was
- 22:31Speaker 2: like a powder is so hard. Nobody told me there
- 22:33Speaker 2: was no way down, but so fun. I've long like
- 22:36Speaker 2: got the like slowed down. The entire crew that she
- 22:39Speaker 2: was with. She'd never helly skied. She was with these
- 22:41Speaker 2: like really good skiers and they dropped her off and
- 22:42Speaker 2: she was falling the entire time. She's like, I was
- 22:45Speaker 2: just like I was buried under The powder was awful.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So it's hard, but powder skiing's hard. If you've never
- 22:49Speaker 1: powder skied, yeah, I have. I had that problem, you, yeah,
- 22:51Speaker 1: because it's deep and it's like everything you learn about skiing.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's kind of the opposite technique for powder. You don't
- 22:56Speaker 1: do much. You just kind of hop and bounce around.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But it's really scary. You going hell is skiing already.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And then if you don't know how to.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Skiing a helicopter and I don't want to ski on
- 23:04Speaker 2: the top of it, and you don't want to jump
- 23:06Speaker 2: out of a helicopter. So I don't think the combination
- 23:08Speaker 2: is meant for me. But I am down, I am adventurous.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I would do I would do it.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So back to ascension, that's a female ascension and women ascension.
- 23:16Speaker 1: How old are you right now?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Twenty eight.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Oh, oh my god, you're a baby.
- 23:18Speaker 2: No, but it doesn't feel like that. I feel all
- 23:20Speaker 2: the things that you're saying. It's actually really real. It's
- 23:22Speaker 2: so weird, and it's like almost as it's like almost thirty,
- 23:25Speaker 2: and it sounds like, you know, thirty is such a baby.
- 23:27Speaker 2: But it's like my friends are actually starting to like
- 23:30Speaker 2: get engaged and get married, and most of my friends
- 23:32Speaker 2: have babies already at twenty eight.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I'm like, why, why do they have babies already?
- 23:37Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I thought that was out of style, and you're they're.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Like having babies, but they're kind of like you know,
- 23:42Speaker 2: even my dad was like, you know, you have to
- 23:44Speaker 2: you know, if you're going to date somebody now, it's
- 23:46Speaker 2: kind of got to be your person because you're like
- 23:47Speaker 2: almost thirty. And I'm like, I'm almost thirty, Like what
- 23:49Speaker 2: does that mean?
- 23:50Speaker 1: No, I take scared, but it's so but it's you
- 23:53Speaker 1: have so much to look forward to, like I wish
- 23:56Speaker 1: when we were our age. Actually this is the moment
- 23:58Speaker 1: because I'm so much older than you, and I can
- 24:01Speaker 1: tell you have so much to look forward to. Like
- 24:03Speaker 1: you're twenty eight, you already have a huge career. You
- 24:06Speaker 1: already have a full life, You're already living in New York.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Like your life is just going to get better and
- 24:11Speaker 1: better and better the more experiences you have, and like
- 24:15Speaker 1: the older you get, and I'm here, are really fide
- 24:17Speaker 1: to that.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Thank you for saying that, but like it really is
- 24:19Speaker 2: kind of traumatic. And even in the oscars, I remember
- 24:21Speaker 2: like when Michelle Yo Want, everyone was like, oh my god,
- 24:24Speaker 2: you can win an oscar at that age, and it's like,
- 24:26Speaker 2: what are we talking about? But it really is, I
- 24:29Speaker 2: think specifically in the industry, like the leading lady is
- 24:32Speaker 2: meant to like die out at you know, thirty six
- 24:34Speaker 2: or thirty eight years old. You know, it's then you
- 24:36Speaker 2: move into the mother role. You're no longer like the
- 24:38Speaker 2: love interest, and I just I find that really confusing
- 24:41Speaker 2: and scary, and it just feels like there's this like
- 24:43Speaker 2: finite time limit on but it's just not true.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Look at Nicole Kidman, you know what I mean. Look
- 24:48Speaker 1: at Francis McDorman, Look at all those types of women
- 24:50Speaker 1: that are just like constantly picking projects that they want
- 24:53Speaker 1: to do. Look at Patricia Arquette, you know, like they're
- 24:55Speaker 1: all perfect examples of the fact that you are people
- 24:57Speaker 1: are still working at that age and that we've been
- 25:00Speaker 1: fed this idea and this bullshit, and it's kind of
- 25:02Speaker 1: like counter to everything that's going on politically, Like not
- 25:05Speaker 1: even though Hollywood still has a long way to go
- 25:07Speaker 1: with sexism and racism, we are it is counter to
- 25:10Speaker 1: what is happening in the world. So like that's just
- 25:13Speaker 1: not true. People are working in their fifties and sixties
- 25:15Speaker 1: like ever before. Look at Meryl Streep, look at you know.
- 25:17Speaker 2: But I find myself like unlearning this pretense that I
- 25:20Speaker 2: feel that I have. Maybe I've you know, self implied
- 25:23Speaker 2: this kind of stress and pressure and all that, but
- 25:26Speaker 2: it does feel real in some capacity. But then of
- 25:28Speaker 2: course you see the people and even like what Reese
- 25:30Speaker 2: has done with Hell Sunshine and creating her own opportunities,
- 25:32Speaker 2: and I just I actually think we're in a really
- 25:34Speaker 2: interesting moment where actresses, you know, Marcot, Robbie and all
- 25:37Speaker 2: the women who have production companies and they're going out
- 25:38Speaker 2: there and finding their own ap and doing what she
- 25:41Speaker 2: did with Barbie and you know other heights, yeah, and
- 25:44Speaker 2: all of it. And I just think it's really exciting
- 25:46Speaker 2: that now we can like go and kind of create
- 25:47Speaker 2: our own producorial role.
- 25:50Speaker 1: In the movie something very bad is going to happen.
- 25:52Speaker 1: They it's all about you, like playing on your paranoia
- 25:55Speaker 1: and like superstitious and or superstitions. Is that you relate
- 26:00Speaker 1: to any of that in your real life?
- 26:01Speaker 2: Are you enough? You didn't have anywhere to put my purse,
- 26:03Speaker 2: so I like held onto it. I paine just now
- 26:05Speaker 2: I have like I'm a huge tope back as my
- 26:07Speaker 2: mom was like, Nargentina, if you put me on your
- 26:09Speaker 2: person before, you instantly lose money.
- 26:11Speaker 1: That's what everyone says to me. By the way, that's
- 26:13Speaker 1: not true. I put my purse on the ground all
- 26:14Speaker 1: the time.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I mean.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Maybe where we're in the money pain. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I was putting on the table was powder room, like
- 26:27Speaker 2: holding onto the ball.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I was like, I can't lose money. Oh my god,
- 26:31Speaker 1: why didn't you put on this sing because it's a
- 26:32Speaker 1: very tiny slot. Okay, yeah, we gotta find the table there,
- 26:36Speaker 1: thank you. Yeah, contractor yeah yeah, yeah, you know, we
- 26:38Speaker 1: don't want to talk to the contractor anymore.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It's over that relationship. Relationships are the most volatile relationships
- 26:45Speaker 2: of all the time. It's you know, anyone who has
- 26:47Speaker 2: a successful relationship more more contractor breakups and friend breakups
- 26:53Speaker 2: and relationship breaks.
- 26:54Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. I don't know. It's almost like if you
- 26:56Speaker 1: become a contractor or something else didn't work out, like
- 26:59Speaker 1: because I don't know why they are so crooked and
- 27:02Speaker 1: why they are so careless. I had a good experience
- 27:05Speaker 1: with my last contractor, but the first one a nightmare.
- 27:07Speaker 2: But I knows a contractor. We betted them. I love him,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I've met him. He does great work, right.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but there should already be something like that. It's
- 27:17Speaker 1: called a referral, you know, when somebody like you.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Know anybody when it comes to contract else nobody.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I had a great experience with my Spanish contractors. They
- 27:25Speaker 1: were amazing. Yeah, they were like on time early, gave
- 27:28Speaker 1: me money back at the end of the thing.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Hurt.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, God, sounds like we're supposed to get with taxes, right.
- 27:34Speaker 1: So are you superstitious about anything else?
- 27:36Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 27:36Speaker 2: Everything Like salt can't hand hand if it touched me
- 27:40Speaker 2: hand to hand, like it's the whole thing is going
- 27:42Speaker 2: over the left shoulder. No umbrella and doors, of course,
- 27:46Speaker 2: forget a staircase, splitting a pole.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You won't walk under a staircase, or you won't walk
- 27:52Speaker 1: up a staircase either airrifted.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I don't do staircases. No, I won't walk up under
- 27:59Speaker 2: a stair in a ladder. I mean, what else is there?
- 28:01Speaker 2: There's so many I mean, cheers and looking in the eyes,
- 28:03Speaker 2: all the things. I mean anything black cat forget that.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I mean, I've had a black cat cross me and
- 28:08Speaker 2: I had to get out and do like this, like
- 28:10Speaker 2: ritual we cross a car thirteen times.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Oh, I don't know. Somebody told me for my house
- 28:15Speaker 1: to cleanse it, you know, to clean the energy, to
- 28:18Speaker 1: get a bunch of monks here to pray to change
- 28:22Speaker 1: the frequency and the vibration of the house. And I
- 28:24Speaker 1: was like, experience with this. I don't really want to
- 28:28Speaker 1: deal with a bunch of monks right now. I mean,
- 28:30Speaker 1: but maybe they can come while I'm gone, because I'm
- 28:32Speaker 1: never here anyway. Okay, we're going to get into the
- 28:35Speaker 1: advice portion of the show where we give advice. Okay,
- 28:37Speaker 1: so do you might get.
- 28:38Speaker 2: The hypothermia, but I'm ready to give advice. And you're
- 28:41Speaker 2: a dreams the one that's behind.
- 28:43Speaker 1: You, of course, thank you. Give me an example if
- 28:46Speaker 1: you can think of one of either the best advice
- 28:50Speaker 1: or the worst advice you've ever gotten from someone.
- 28:52Speaker 2: I mean, like the idea of everything happens for a reason,
- 28:55Speaker 2: when something like absolutely terrible is happening in your life,
- 28:58Speaker 2: Like everything happens for a reason. It's like such horrible
- 29:01Speaker 2: things have happened in humanity and history. I don't know
- 29:03Speaker 2: if everything happens for a reason, but I believe that
- 29:05Speaker 2: there's a lesson to be learned from everything you do,
- 29:07Speaker 2: and I'm down to embrace that. I don't know if
- 29:09Speaker 2: that goes under the worst advice, but.
- 29:11Speaker 1: That's just kind of like a platitude, do you know
- 29:13Speaker 1: what I mean? Everything happens and carry It's like it's
- 29:16Speaker 1: like when people say My least favorite saying is when
- 29:19Speaker 1: people say it is what it is? What does that
- 29:21Speaker 1: mean that it actually mean anything to what it is?
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty bad. I put that up there.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Do you want to cover your other arm? But that
- 29:28Speaker 1: doesn't like, I mean, do you know how to use
- 29:30Speaker 1: a blanket? It doesn't seem like that.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I'm trying to.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Also, it's okay, as long as your eyebrows are out,
- 29:41Speaker 1: we're fine.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Give me my eyebrows is good, okay.
- 29:45Speaker 2: One side note to tell you. What I forget is
- 29:48Speaker 2: my brain short shirtening?
- 29:50Speaker 1: Wait, swips, is there a cat here?
- 29:54Speaker 2: You love to work out in my grandma's bedroom. I'm
- 30:00Speaker 2: just gonna leave that there.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Ben Bruno's home is your grandmother's bed.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Home gym is my grandmother's bedroom. My mom sold our
- 30:10Speaker 2: house to Ben Bruno, your trainer, what who I still
- 30:13Speaker 2: haven't met? And my grandma would come from Argentina because
- 30:16Speaker 2: she's Argentine, Yeah, Argine, and she's Argentine now, and we
- 30:21Speaker 2: would like throw her in this garage room off the
- 30:24Speaker 2: laundry that like didn't have insulation or like heating or
- 30:27Speaker 2: air conditioning, and she would be so happy to be
- 30:29Speaker 2: visiting us. And Ben Bruno bought the house and turned
- 30:31Speaker 2: that into a gym.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Which is called the kitchen. He calls it the kitchen.
- 30:35Speaker 2: It was not the kitchen. It's the garage with no insulation.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So that I was like, the only place side that
- 30:40Speaker 1: she could be talking about is Ben Bruno's garage. But connection, Okay,
- 30:44Speaker 1: are we taking a break and coming back? Okay, we're
- 30:46Speaker 1: taking a break or taking brow We're taking a break
- 30:49Speaker 1: with Camilla Morone. Camilla moroone? Am I saying it right, yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 1: Camilla Moroon, I think.
- 30:54Speaker 2: So we're taking a break with.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Camilla Moron and we're going to be right back, and
- 31:01Speaker 1: we're back with Camela Morrea.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Wow that was.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Fast, so fast.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Well okay, I thought we were getting up.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Touching up that I just had to go upstairs and yeah, okay,
- 31:11Speaker 3: Well we have a big red flag here. So this
- 31:13Speaker 3: is our one drink question. Reckon says, my parents are
- 31:16Speaker 3: divorced and my dad talks shit about my mom on
- 31:19Speaker 3: social media.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Oh that's great.
- 31:22Speaker 3: My mom doesn't retaliate, but I know she's aware of it.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I've asked him to stop and he won't. But my
- 31:27Speaker 3: wedding is coming up and I don't want any drama.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Should I disinvite him from my wedding if he won't stop.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yes, Reckon, Yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Oh see. I was like, no, that's.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Why you're here. We're having to have differing opinions. Let
- 31:38Speaker 1: me just go first, and then I want to hear
- 31:40Speaker 1: what you say. I first of all, that is totally
- 31:42Speaker 1: unacceptable to trash talk somebody's the father or daughter, father
- 31:46Speaker 1: or mother of your child on public or behind the scenes,
- 31:49Speaker 1: in my opinion, like that's you're the parent act like it,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and that is a perfect reason to disinvite him from
- 31:56Speaker 1: the wedding. Why would you put your mother in that situation?
- 31:58Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure your mother's going to be cool
- 32:00Speaker 1: because she's not going to be responsive to that. But
- 32:02Speaker 1: you have to have a really long conversation with your
- 32:04Speaker 1: father about boundaries and about what's acceptable. Okay, now you go.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I'm deeply triggered. This is basically my entire childhood said
- 32:12Speaker 2: they got along great. Well, this is they're Argentinian. I
- 32:14Speaker 2: mean they like get along for like one Christmas they're
- 32:16Speaker 2: like best friends and the next my mom, my mom
- 32:18Speaker 2: and daughter, like I won't be there for the other
- 32:19Speaker 2: parents there. That's the vibe. And it's also always very
- 32:21Speaker 2: dependent on who their partner is at the time. Sure,
- 32:25Speaker 2: so like if the partner's like, I don't want that involved.
- 32:27Speaker 2: So it's it's a very you know, it's an up
- 32:29Speaker 2: and down. It's been. It's been. It's been like a
- 32:31Speaker 2: part time job mediating between them for the last you know,
- 32:34Speaker 2: twenty years.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But I okay, well, I have very different than what
- 32:38Speaker 1: you said at the beginning of the episode, where you
- 32:39Speaker 1: said my parents got along so well, so I couldn't
- 32:42Speaker 1: even play them against each other.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Now you're each other about important things like if like you, Yes,
- 32:47Speaker 2: they're in cahoots, so like they'll do a check in
- 32:50Speaker 2: once You're like, how do you feel? Like you know,
- 32:51Speaker 2: if I'm going through a hard time? Like they always
- 32:53Speaker 2: talk to each other on the phone. Yeah, they do,
- 32:55Speaker 2: but they don't want to hang necessarily anymore. But there
- 32:57Speaker 2: has been times that they hung. It's very up and down.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I want to know more about the dad posting on Instagram?
- 33:02Speaker 2: Is it comments or is he doing like a grid post?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Being like today.
- 33:06Speaker 3: He's on Instagram?
- 33:07Speaker 2: Is he on a grid post? Being like hey fuck
- 33:10Speaker 2: you X? WHATY Like, I'm just curious, yeah, like is
- 33:13Speaker 2: it a grid post or is he storing it? And
- 33:14Speaker 2: does he like attach a photo of the mom? So
- 33:17Speaker 2: obviously he's like not over it and still love because
- 33:19Speaker 2: like he's really adamant. I have so many questions about it,
- 33:21Speaker 2: like just the technicality of the ship talking on him.
- 33:24Speaker 1: But what you were instinctially you were gonna say that
- 33:26Speaker 1: what that that he should come to have.
- 33:28Speaker 2: A conversation with the dad first. You really don't want
- 33:30Speaker 2: like your you want your mom and dad there if
- 33:32Speaker 2: they can be so I would just sit down my
- 33:33Speaker 2: dad and be like, I would love to have you there,
- 33:35Speaker 2: but if you're gonna be problematic, I'm very happy to
- 33:37Speaker 2: uninvite you. So like, if you can control yourself, you're
- 33:40Speaker 2: super wanted. If you can't, then you're not coming. And
- 33:42Speaker 2: that's my mom.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's really such a great way.
- 33:44Speaker 2: And then there's maybe there's like a really my probability
- 33:47Speaker 2: that he'll like blackout and like shit, talk to mom
- 33:49Speaker 2: at the wedding. You have to be prepared, right.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Well, then you have to put like drinking limitations on
- 33:53Speaker 1: the situation, which is never fun for anybody.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I wouldn't go anywhere where they told
- 33:58Speaker 1: me to limit my drinking. But I'm also not problem
- 34:00Speaker 1: like that, not anymore anyway, not in this part of
- 34:03Speaker 1: my life.
- 34:04Speaker 2: They like pull reference clips of like all the time.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I'm just gonna Chelsea ever sailation.
- 34:14Speaker 3: We're gonna call Jane Fund. She's gonna tell us the
- 34:16Speaker 3: who story.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Yeah, exact thing.
- 34:18Speaker 3: All right, breckon, Well you've got the language to use.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Now, did you come on this podcast hoping to give advice?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Is that why?
- 34:24Speaker 2: I mean? Did you love the main reasons? Oh my God,
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'm so good at give the advice and I'm so
- 34:27Speaker 2: bad at taking it.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I love it me too, exactly the same, exactly, Look
- 34:32Speaker 1: we look amazing.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Okay. So our first caller today is Caitlyn. She is
- 34:42Speaker 3: thirty two and her subject line is chat GPT broke
- 34:45Speaker 3: up with me by proxy. So Caitlyn says, Dear Chelsea,
- 34:49Speaker 3: I'm not sure if this qualifies as a dating question
- 34:52Speaker 3: or how do I stop my life from falling apart
- 34:54Speaker 3: all at once? Question? But here goes. A year and
- 34:56Speaker 3: a half ago, I met a wonderful man while on
- 34:58Speaker 3: an extended work trip to Texas. We did long distance.
- 35:01Speaker 3: It went well, and last year we decided we were
- 35:03Speaker 3: ready to move in together soon. He's fully remote and
- 35:06Speaker 3: I was tethered to New York, so the plan was
- 35:08Speaker 3: to make New York home. He's from here originally too.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Then everything happened at once. Before he had a chance
- 35:13Speaker 3: to move in, I found out my job probably ends
- 35:15Speaker 3: this year. Moving to Texas, started to make financial sense,
- 35:18Speaker 3: lower cost of living, finally start a personal life after
- 35:21Speaker 3: years of being tied to work, etc. Then in January
- 35:24Speaker 3: I was diagnosed with endometriosis and surgery was scheduled a
- 35:27Speaker 3: few weeks later. Suddenly I needed one thing in my
- 35:30Speaker 3: life to stay still. I couldn't face moving across the country,
- 35:33Speaker 3: away from my entire support network right after surgery in
- 35:35Speaker 3: a red state where I'd also want to freeze my
- 35:37Speaker 3: eggs while unemployed and potentially financially dependent on a man
- 35:41Speaker 3: for the first time in my life. So last month
- 35:43Speaker 3: I called to ask him if he'd consider moving into
- 35:46Speaker 3: my place temporarily, just to buy us some time. The
- 35:49Speaker 3: conversation ended with us breaking up. He told me the
- 35:53Speaker 3: romantic in him wanted to relocate, but reason told him
- 35:56Speaker 3: it wouldn't work. He'd apparently been consulting chat GPT about
- 35:59Speaker 3: our real relationship, which told him two people can love
- 36:02Speaker 3: each other, but sometimes timing and location just don't line up.
- 36:06Speaker 3: I have a long history with abandonment and relationships ending
- 36:09Speaker 3: because people didn't show up when I needed them most.
- 36:11Speaker 3: He offered to come help me through my surgery because
- 36:13Speaker 3: he felt bad about the timing, which I declined. Obviously,
- 36:16Speaker 3: it made me sad to say it out loud. I
- 36:17Speaker 3: guess my question is was I asking for too much?
- 36:20Speaker 3: Or am I someone who keeps finding herself alone in
- 36:22Speaker 3: hard moments and calling it independence and Caitlin, I know
- 36:26Speaker 3: you have an update about relationship status.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Here.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Hi Caitlin, Hi, Hi, this is Camilla Moron. She's our
- 36:34Speaker 1: special guest today. We're happy that you called in and yes,
- 36:38Speaker 1: what's your update.
- 36:40Speaker 4: We are back together. We had a call shortly after,
- 36:46Speaker 4: so we were able to kind of reconvene together and
- 36:51Speaker 4: figure it all out. I also had a therapy session
- 36:54Speaker 4: and was able to chat with a therapist about like
- 36:58Speaker 4: rationally just like my past and walking through all of
- 37:03Speaker 4: that and how previously in relationships I've always kind of
- 37:08Speaker 4: hunkered down and said I can take care of myself
- 37:10Speaker 4: on my own. So that was kind of the rationale
- 37:14Speaker 4: behind us getting back together. Was like I truly knew
- 37:18Speaker 4: I wanted to be with him and give it a chance.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I think I could possibly overlook the chat GPT thing.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that's How did you guys come
- 37:27Speaker 1: about getting back on the phone? Like, who initiated that
- 37:29Speaker 1: phone call? After chat GPT prompted told him to break
- 37:33Speaker 1: up with you? I called him, okay, And what was
- 37:36Speaker 1: that call? Like, what were your intentions with a call
- 37:38Speaker 1: to get back together?
- 37:39Speaker 4: It was it was to be clear that you know,
- 37:43Speaker 4: we needed to work things out, and we kind of
- 37:47Speaker 4: just needed to talk through a couple of things, like
- 37:52Speaker 4: just understanding that I had a lot going on and
- 37:55Speaker 4: that I think we needed to make one decision at
- 37:57Speaker 4: a time realistically, And.
- 37:59Speaker 1: So he was open to getting back together.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yes, he was communicative in that, Like he had said,
- 38:06Speaker 4: his plan was that he would reach out again after
- 38:09Speaker 4: I had my surgery and he would connect with me
- 38:13Speaker 4: to try to make things right and figure out a
- 38:18Speaker 4: pass forward for the both of us. So he was
- 38:22Speaker 4: very receptive to getting back together. I think it was
- 38:26Speaker 4: his plan all along, like after we kind of had
- 38:29Speaker 4: that initial breakup conversation. But I think for me, like
- 38:33Speaker 4: after talking to my therapist, I had said that I
- 38:38Speaker 4: knew I truly wanted to be with him. I just
- 38:40Speaker 4: was in this rush of decision making between having with
- 38:44Speaker 4: surgery and feeling overwhelmed from that, feeling overwhelmed from a
- 38:48Speaker 4: ton of work being dumped on me because two of
- 38:51Speaker 4: my teammates left, and you know, I didn't know if
- 38:55Speaker 4: my job was going to be intact by the end
- 38:57Speaker 4: of the year. I just couldn't possibly make a move
- 39:00Speaker 4: decision right then and there, and I just felt like
- 39:04Speaker 4: hunkering down and breaking up was like the easiest thing.
- 39:07Speaker 4: And when he said chat gpt agreed, I was kind
- 39:09Speaker 4: of like, well, I guess then we have no other.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Choice, right. Well, first of all, I hate that fucking
- 39:14Speaker 1: people to use chat gpt for therapy. I hate that
- 39:17Speaker 1: the people use chatgypt period. Tell them to go to
- 39:19Speaker 1: Anthropic because chatchypt is like surveilling all of us.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Or a therapist.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, or a therapist. I feel like that exactly what
- 39:25Speaker 1: am I talking about. Go to a different AI platform.
- 39:29Speaker 1: But I think the overarching lesson here for our listeners
- 39:32Speaker 1: and for you is when you are in a state
- 39:34Speaker 1: of overwhelm, there are no decisions to be made like that.
- 39:38Speaker 1: You shouldn't be making any serious decisions when you're feeling overwhelmed.
- 39:41Speaker 1: You have to know that you're in a sense of
- 39:43Speaker 1: kind of almost desensitization. Like when I'm so busy and
- 39:47Speaker 1: so like, or I have a million things going on,
- 39:49Speaker 1: it's like I can't give my full attention to certain
- 39:52Speaker 1: aspects of my life. And I'm just very honest about that.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, I can't. I don't have the bandwidth
- 39:58Speaker 1: right now for this. I'll be back, I'll circle back
- 40:00Speaker 1: on this in about a week, you know, Like, and
- 40:02Speaker 1: I think it's important to recognize that as women who
- 40:05Speaker 1: feel like we can multitask everything and we can do
- 40:09Speaker 1: a million things at one time, which we're good at,
- 40:11Speaker 1: we still have our limits too, Like, and it is
- 40:14Speaker 1: important to recognize when you're in those moments, you're going
- 40:16Speaker 1: through a ton of stuff and going through medical like
- 40:19Speaker 1: personal stuff, that's no time to make a decision about
- 40:21Speaker 1: your relationship.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, I have endo and I've
- 40:24Speaker 2: been avoiding the surgery for since I was fifteen, So, like,
- 40:27Speaker 2: you're really brave for going through it. And it's very
- 40:29Speaker 2: isolating and very lonely to have endometriosis. And that's a
- 40:32Speaker 2: really particular thing to be going through during a breakup.
- 40:36Speaker 2: But it's already really scary and makes you feel really
- 40:39Speaker 2: isolated because no one really understands it unless.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You have it, including doctors.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, and especially men that don't.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah. So how are you doing now after
- 40:49Speaker 1: the surgery?
- 40:50Speaker 4: My surgery actually hasn't happened. It's actually next week. It's
- 40:54Speaker 4: next to okay. He plans to fly out. He's actually
- 40:58Speaker 4: been really supportive, been sending articles so it's interesting you
- 41:02Speaker 4: say that it's challenging for men to understand. I think
- 41:04Speaker 4: while he's in the same state of mind that he'll
- 41:09Speaker 4: never understand truly, he's been doing research, like reading through
- 41:14Speaker 4: Reddit forums and then also just kind of doing his
- 41:18Speaker 4: own knowledge checking. That's really trying to figure out how
- 41:22Speaker 4: to support me throughout the surgery.
- 41:24Speaker 3: See, that's a positive use of the technology.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I like, that's what we're using. Yes, how do we understand?
- 41:31Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Well, great, it sounds like everything's going great. Then I'm
- 41:36Speaker 1: glad that you have this update and that you've filled
- 41:38Speaker 1: us in on that. And yeah, we need to be
- 41:40Speaker 1: talking about these issues with men as often as possible
- 41:42Speaker 1: because they lack understanding, because they lack education about it.
- 41:46Speaker 1: You know, endometriosis. I have two other girlfriends who are like,
- 41:49Speaker 1: there's like they they went to mail doctors who were like,
- 41:53Speaker 1: knew nothing about endometriosis, which is ridiculous, and like, because
- 41:57Speaker 1: it's a woman's disease, there are a woman's I don't
- 42:00Speaker 1: even know is it a disease?
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and even funny enough, it's very hard. You can't
- 42:03Speaker 2: get diagnosed unless you really open up laparoscopically. And do surgery.
- 42:07Speaker 2: So like you can get like a vaginal exam, but
- 42:09Speaker 2: it's like actually not guaranteed. How you do this.
- 42:12Speaker 1: When you talk about a vaginal exam, same experience.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yes, that's how they figured out it was and no
- 42:19Speaker 4: for me was like doing this and then they didn't
- 42:23Speaker 4: be actual scan and saw that I had a six
- 42:26Speaker 4: centimeter cyst and it's probably a deep infiltrating phase because
- 42:31Speaker 4: they said it was late stage. So I hope you
- 42:33Speaker 4: do also go get and no taken care of. It's
- 42:37Speaker 4: not something we should be dealing with. And I hope
- 42:41Speaker 4: you're able to find a solution for yourself that work.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Thank you. Good luck with your surgery.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Yeah, have a have a good surgery and have a
- 42:48Speaker 1: good recovery. And I'm glad things are back on track.
- 42:50Speaker 2: By by your man.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and tell them to stop going on. Yeah that's
- 42:54Speaker 1: a direct quote from me. Reddit is okay, we've decided, Yeah,
- 42:57Speaker 1: read it, go on Reddit.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Well, I appreciate it.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Okay, then good luck, Okay, thank you. That's so funny
- 43:05Speaker 3: because I didn't know that you had I also have endometriosis.
- 43:08Speaker 3: And it just like sometimes these questions like they just
- 43:10Speaker 3: kind of they find the right person. It's so funny
- 43:13Speaker 3: how that happens.
- 43:14Speaker 2: I know that happens. She never talked about it, but
- 43:16Speaker 2: it's been such a big part of my life since
- 43:17Speaker 2: I was fifteen.
- 43:18Speaker 1: And you're scared to get the surgery.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I have heard that it is incredibly painful, but mainly
- 43:22Speaker 2: I'm more it grows back because it is scar tissue,
- 43:25Speaker 2: and it's tissue. So you know, there's a lot of
- 43:27Speaker 2: a lot of people that I've consulted with it that
- 43:29Speaker 2: have the surgery in two three years later they have
- 43:30Speaker 2: to get it again. There's like an old witch tail
- 43:33Speaker 2: that if you have children, the pain can reduce significantly.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I've taken birth control since I was fifteen to kind
- 43:37Speaker 2: of minimize the pain and the bleeding. But it's the
- 43:40Speaker 2: worst and it's also so emotional. Remember the day that
- 43:42Speaker 2: I got diagnosed and it was like I said that
- 43:45Speaker 2: vaginal exam and I started crying because she was like,
- 43:49Speaker 2: you do, in fact have endony.
- 43:50Speaker 3: I was too, so much too. My surgeon was like,
- 43:53Speaker 3: so you do have endometrios as your life After seven
- 43:56Speaker 3: years of asking doctors, including female, once do I have this,
- 43:59Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh my god, he goes you have
- 44:00Speaker 3: endomet I was like, thank you.
- 44:02Speaker 2: I remember looking at my mom my boyfriend and being like,
- 44:05Speaker 2: I told you I'm not crazy, Like the pain's not normal.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And I actually went to the hospital my first period
- 44:10Speaker 2: when I was fifteen because they thought I was having
- 44:12Speaker 2: like either pancreatitis.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Cherish or like call letter or something all butter or something.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And I like, you you look at me as a doctor.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yes it is, but so and.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Actually on average takes up to ten years to diagnose.
- 44:26Speaker 3: So I will say for our listeners, there is a
- 44:28Speaker 3: listener who called him before who was dealing with endometriosis.
- 44:31Speaker 3: And she's got a very helpful Instagram account now called
- 44:35Speaker 3: Kim versus endo. Check her out.
- 44:37Speaker 2: That's what Patricia kat sends me the like, oh yeah,
- 44:39Speaker 2: the end. She's like, if you have green herbal tea
- 44:42Speaker 2: at three pm, your endo And I'm like, I think
- 44:44Speaker 2: I need laproscopic surgery with multiple scars. But yes, I
- 44:48Speaker 2: will look into that sweet pea.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Yeah that sounds terrible. Also, yeah, so I'm sorry, ladies, it.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Has to be a woman. Well, let's get to this
- 44:55Speaker 3: other question, which I think is also pulled maybe straight
- 44:57Speaker 3: from your life. So our last color state as Lee
- 45:00Speaker 3: and she says, to your Chelsea, I'm a thirty six
- 45:03Speaker 3: year old mother of two healthy daughters. I'm married, I
- 45:05Speaker 3: have a great community. I had a happy, middle class
- 45:08Speaker 3: childhood in the Midwest, and I still call my mom
- 45:10Speaker 3: every week. All of this is to say I have
- 45:12Speaker 3: a very full and fulfilling life. My question today is
- 45:15Speaker 3: whether I should open Pandora's box or leave well Enough alone.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Growing up, I was the only child my parents shared together,
- 45:21Speaker 3: but I knew I had three half sisters and two
- 45:23Speaker 3: half brothers from my parents' previous marriages. I was raised
- 45:26Speaker 3: with two half sisters, my mom's children, but we were
- 45:29Speaker 3: estranged from my dad's three children because of beliefs and
- 45:32Speaker 3: restrictions within their religion or religion my dad left when
- 45:35Speaker 3: he divorced their mother. The other siblings would come up
- 45:37Speaker 3: from time to time. My dad might share an occasional
- 45:40Speaker 3: story or something about my appearance or personality that would
- 45:43Speaker 3: spark a memory of them, but these were never relationships
- 45:45Speaker 3: I actively longed for or mourned because they were relationships
- 45:48Speaker 3: I never really had. I grew up with only a
- 45:50Speaker 3: few memories of them. Now, with daughters of my own
- 45:53Speaker 3: and parents who are getting older, I find myself thinking
- 45:55Speaker 3: more about family, the bond between siblings, and the connections
- 45:58Speaker 3: that shape us. I wonder if I should reach out
- 46:01Speaker 3: to these siblings just to see what might be. At
- 46:03Speaker 3: the same time, I hesitate. I worry about opening the
- 46:06Speaker 3: floodgates to decades of emotions this might stir up for
- 46:09Speaker 3: them and my father. So I'm left wondering do I
- 46:11Speaker 3: reach out and potentially open Pandora's box to satisfy my curiosity,
- 46:15Speaker 3: orly well enough alone and focus on the wonderful family
- 46:18Speaker 3: I already have. Sincerely, Lee, I'm perfect person.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Two half siblings. My dad had two more kids when
- 46:24Speaker 2: I was eighteen years old. I was an only child,
- 46:25Speaker 2: so I was eighteen. You're like, Lily, my dad met
- 46:27Speaker 2: a woman on match dot com and I have a
- 46:28Speaker 2: ten and eleven year old brother and sister for the
- 46:30Speaker 2: first time in my life.
- 46:31Speaker 1: And do you feel like their mother or their aunt
- 46:33Speaker 1: or a sister?
- 46:34Speaker 2: But I think what I have lots to say? Okay, Hi, Lee, Hi, how.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Are you Okay? Well, you're in the perfect company.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Okay. I came to the best place because I mel
- 46:44Speaker 2: on my own.
- 46:44Speaker 1: As our special guest, and she has experienced in this Oh,
- 46:48Speaker 1: this is great.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Yeah, So I was an only child, so I was eighteen,
- 46:52Speaker 2: and I was always very sad about it and wish
- 46:54Speaker 2: that I had siblings. And I would make up scenarios
- 46:55Speaker 2: where I was fighting over pancakes with my fake siblings
- 46:58Speaker 2: and my mom would have to separate us. It was
- 47:00Speaker 2: like very sad only child syndrome, and I would like
- 47:02Speaker 2: pretend I would be jealous of people who got in
- 47:04Speaker 2: fights at their siblings. Long story short, my dad had
- 47:06Speaker 2: two more kids when I was eighteen, so they're my
- 47:08Speaker 2: half siblings and it has been the biggest gift of
- 47:11Speaker 2: my life. Obviously you already know you're in contact with
- 47:13Speaker 2: your half siblings, but I would just say I always think,
- 47:16Speaker 2: and it's kind of sad about like when we are
- 47:19Speaker 2: going to lose a parent, which is inevitable and going
- 47:21Speaker 2: to happen to us, Like, I'm so grateful now that
- 47:24Speaker 2: I have these other people to have memories about my
- 47:27Speaker 2: dad with and to share stories and to joke about,
- 47:30Speaker 2: you know, long after knock on Woody's past, and I
- 47:33Speaker 2: just think it's it's why you know, yes, it's Pandora's box,
- 47:36Speaker 2: But I think you're it looks like you're stable enough
- 47:39Speaker 2: and emotionally mature enough to handle whatever can come your way,
- 47:41Speaker 2: whatever that might open, And what beautiful things may you
- 47:44Speaker 2: learn about your parent through these others.
- 47:46Speaker 1: And that's a beautiful way to look at it, really beautiful.
- 47:49Speaker 2: I get some great stories and good laughs, and.
- 47:51Speaker 5: Yeah, why not, Yeah, I would love to have a
- 47:56Speaker 5: relationship with them, or at least explore the possibility of that.
- 47:59Speaker 5: I'm I'm just more concerned. Obviously. I know I'm the
- 48:03Speaker 5: one with the least amount of pain in the situation.
- 48:06Speaker 5: I didn't lose siblings, I didn't lose a father. I
- 48:09Speaker 5: just want to be sensitive too. I know that they
- 48:12Speaker 5: might have a lot of emotions wrapped up around this
- 48:15Speaker 5: that I don't necessarily have, and I don't want to
- 48:17Speaker 5: be selfish by, you know, trying to satisfy my own
- 48:22Speaker 5: just genuine curiosity if it might open a wound for them.
- 48:26Speaker 2: Do you know if they have interest in communicating with you.
- 48:29Speaker 5: I mean, it's been thirty six years and they have
- 48:31Speaker 5: not reached out yet. I know the oldest sibling had
- 48:35Speaker 5: said when I was born that she did not want
- 48:37Speaker 5: to have a relationship with me. Obviously, it's been a
- 48:40Speaker 5: long time, so I don't know if you know they
- 48:42Speaker 5: might be open to it.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Now, but I think you can cover all of this
- 48:45Speaker 1: in an email, like in a letter to them, and
- 48:48Speaker 1: be very sensitive with it, with exactly what you just
- 48:51Speaker 1: said to be, Like, listen, I know this is sensitive.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I want to be sensitive to your emotions and your feelings.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I know you had some misgivings about me when I
- 48:59Speaker 1: was born. I don't even think you to say that
- 49:00Speaker 1: because it was thirty six years ago.
- 49:02Speaker 2: I mean, people hated my little sister to day she
- 49:03Speaker 2: was born. She's zero.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Everyone does you know? My sister hated me for a
- 49:08Speaker 1: long fucking time too. But you know your situation is
- 49:11Speaker 1: obviously a little bit different. I think you just go
- 49:13Speaker 1: at it with sensitivity and love and just say, listen,
- 49:16Speaker 1: I'm really curious. You know, we share a lot of stuff,
- 49:18Speaker 1: and I think we can make something positive out of this.
- 49:21Speaker 1: But I also want to be sensitive to your feelings
- 49:23Speaker 1: and your emotions and your experiences. I know it's not
- 49:26Speaker 1: like mine, And if there's any avenue for us to
- 49:29Speaker 1: kind of get to know each other and spend some
- 49:31Speaker 1: time together, I would really love to do that, you know,
- 49:35Speaker 1: and just go at it with like full heart and
- 49:37Speaker 1: like open arms and see what happens. You know, you
- 49:41Speaker 1: have nothing to lose.
- 49:42Speaker 5: Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, Like, I
- 49:44Speaker 5: guess there's no downside. I mean, there's there's nothing to lose.
- 49:49Speaker 5: There's only something to gain, So you know, I hope
- 49:52Speaker 5: they would be open to it as well, but I
- 49:53Speaker 5: guess I wouldn't know unless I try, right and make.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Can respectfully decline. I didn't realize how different it was
- 49:58Speaker 2: from my situation, but yeah, I mean, if you're not
- 50:00Speaker 2: pressuring anyone through an email, through a claud email, right, yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 2: and you can just say if you're open to it,
- 50:05Speaker 2: and if you're not. I also totally understand that, and
- 50:07Speaker 2: I'm excited to hear back from you either way.
- 50:10Speaker 3: And you might find that some of them are interested
- 50:12Speaker 3: and maybe one is not, or you know that sort
- 50:14Speaker 3: of thing, and that's okay too. You know, if there's
- 50:17Speaker 3: someone who wants to connect, it might have an effect
- 50:20Speaker 3: on the other ones in the future as well.
- 50:21Speaker 2: But it sounds like you're having a pin and you're interested,
- 50:24Speaker 2: So I'd be curious to see, like what your intuition
- 50:26Speaker 2: and why this is coming up. It'd be fun.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel the same way it's been after having kids.
- 50:31Speaker 5: This past year, I've just really been wondering, you know,
- 50:35Speaker 5: what are they like? What are their kids like? Are
- 50:37Speaker 5: kids similar to all these curiosity questions coming out that
- 50:41Speaker 5: you know, I would just love to explore and see
- 50:44Speaker 5: if they be open to it.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think you give them the option, you know,
- 50:48Speaker 1: say that too, say that you've had children, like, I'm
- 50:51Speaker 1: interested in meeting you alone. If you were open to
- 50:54Speaker 1: meeting my children, that's an option. I'm what like, just
- 50:57Speaker 1: make them feel like, you know, it's their leisures and
- 51:01Speaker 1: they're there. Yeah, the balls in their court, like you're
- 51:03Speaker 1: open to whatever looks good to them.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I love that anyway, So let us know what happens.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Okay, I will thank you so much.
- 51:10Speaker 5: I really appreciate it. It was the encouragement I needed.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, I mean you're lovely, so anyone would be
- 51:15Speaker 1: lucky to have you as a sister.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Go fort Lee.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Okay, you got this, good luck, take care, Thank you guy.
- 51:26Speaker 2: I really love this is fun.
- 51:28Speaker 1: It's been nice to give advice and talk to people,
- 51:30Speaker 1: took to real people that you don't know.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I love that. I didn't realize like how different Street
- 51:34Speaker 2: which she was different. It's thinking if she's been if
- 51:37Speaker 2: it's been like really weighing on her in the past year.
- 51:39Speaker 2: It's interesting always when things come up to you know,
- 51:41Speaker 2: it's like when you're thinking about someone, you reach out
- 51:42Speaker 2: and they're like, I was, I haven't spoked two years,
- 51:44Speaker 2: but you've been on my mind, so hopefully Lee will
- 51:47Speaker 2: be reconnected. Yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 1: That's so crazy that you got two little kids like
- 51:52Speaker 1: in your life when you were eighteen years old and
- 51:54Speaker 1: so weird, so.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Weird, and when my dad told me it was first
- 51:57Speaker 2: a boy, and then the second one came like a
- 51:59Speaker 2: year later and it was a girl, and I was
- 52:02Speaker 2: so unwell when he told me he was having a girl.
- 52:03Speaker 2: I was like, but that means I'm not your only
- 52:05Speaker 2: little girl. ND love her like you love me, and
- 52:08Speaker 2: it was it was not good. But now she's my
- 52:10Speaker 2: best friend.
- 52:11Speaker 1: And does your I know. It's so funny that kids
- 52:14Speaker 1: are so jealous of like, well you can be like
- 52:16Speaker 1: thinking that it's going to take your love away, because
- 52:19Speaker 1: my mom explained this to me once because I was like,
- 52:21Speaker 1: how can you love all of us? You know, and
- 52:23Speaker 1: she goes because your love expands, like with each child,
- 52:26Speaker 1: your love, your heart grows bigger and bigger and bigger
- 52:28Speaker 1: and bigger, and you just bring them all in. And
- 52:30Speaker 1: I was like, but you have to love one of
- 52:31Speaker 1: us more, and she would just tell us I love
- 52:34Speaker 1: you the most, I love you the most. And then
- 52:35Speaker 1: I would tell my sister Mom told me. She's like,
- 52:37Speaker 1: she tells me that every day.
- 52:37Speaker 2: The best thing about being an older sister is I'm like,
- 52:39Speaker 2: do you know that Dad told me right before you came,
- 52:41Speaker 2: no matter what, he's never going to love you. Like,
- 52:45Speaker 2: and my sister's like, she's like, I have taken making
- 52:49Speaker 2: it my life mission to like torture them about how
- 52:51Speaker 2: much he loves me. And for eighteen years it was
- 52:53Speaker 2: all about me.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Well, he loved you for eighteen years before they even existed,
- 52:56Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but exactly, even having siblings, I do you feel
- 53:00Speaker 2: like there are favorites in the moment, Like I love
- 53:02Speaker 2: them both to death, but I'm like, oh, I'm really
- 53:04Speaker 2: vibing with you right now. Actually I'm having a moment
- 53:06Speaker 2: with you right now, Like it is interesting. I think
- 53:07Speaker 2: you have like, oh, you're really core and you're in
- 53:10Speaker 2: a cool age. Yes, yeah, you feel more connected to
- 53:12Speaker 2: one than the other on a certain day.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And also like, men always say this to me
- 53:17Speaker 1: when I ask them who their favorite kid is. Like
- 53:19Speaker 1: I asked men this a lot, doctors and stuff like
- 53:21Speaker 1: whenever I'm in a doctor's office, and yeah, doctor is
- 53:24Speaker 1: the ones finger blasting you. And I've gotten this answer
- 53:28Speaker 1: now three times for men, whoever needs me the most.
- 53:31Speaker 2: That's interesting, I know.
- 53:33Speaker 1: And I was like, men need to be eat it
- 53:35Speaker 1: right right, But women are very very much they They
- 53:39Speaker 1: don't like to say that there's a favorite. Men will say, yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 1: I have a favorite.
- 53:42Speaker 2: With whoever's funnier that day and whoever's like down to
- 53:45Speaker 2: hang out with me, And I like.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Exactly, exactly right now. Okay, Cameela, You're awesome. I loved
- 53:51Speaker 1: having you on and then popping your podcast Cherry. That
- 53:54Speaker 1: was really fun.
- 53:55Speaker 2: I'm no longer a virgin and you're not.
- 53:57Speaker 1: You're gonna walk out this door with a little swag
- 53:59Speaker 1: or did not before. Very glad, So congratulations everyone. You
- 54:04Speaker 1: can watch her in all these things, The Night Manager
