- 1:00com. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's
- 1:03been clear. It's been beautiful.
- 1:05It's been hot and rainy here in Long Island, New York.
- 1:09And yes, if you're hot and rainy and you like the hot and rainy
- 1:14weather, well then Long Island is hot and rainy for you.
- 1:18Speaking of hot and very rainy, that is the New York Knicks and
- 1:23we will get into the whole New York Knicks Game 5.
- 1:27For all you Knick fans that thought this was going to be a
- 1:30shoe in, well, ladies and gentlemen, Knick fans are
- 1:33probably wondering what's going to happen at Game 6 at Madison
- 1:37Square Garden. I've got some rumors.
- 1:39Well, I don't, I'm not the rumor guy that that would be Josh.
- 1:43He was before our show. But Speedy, how are you?
- 1:45By the way, before we get to you, our executive producer, you
- 1:48just saw him as he did our introduction, Mr. Aaron Fish,
- 1:51Fishman and the one and only Mr. Tommy Scoops is here to do our
- 1:56sportsman and give us some of the back end information that
- 2:00we're going to need throughout the show.
- 2:01And our PR guys right now backstage, as he's working over
- 2:05there somewhere in New Jersey, Mr. Kniffin, AKA I need a Leash.
- 2:11I'm putting you on a leash now. Now, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:14Speedy, what's going on? Yeah, it was interesting you
- 2:16brought up Josh's show. It felt like it was a 2021 all
- 2:18over again when he was with us on the sports label venting
- 2:21about the New York Knicks. I think the only thing hotter
- 2:23than Josh's head might have been Tom Thibodeau's head.
- 2:25Well, I don't know about hotter right there.
- 2:27I don't even know if there's a word called hotter when it comes
- 2:30to Josh. I think it would be ugly.
- 2:32I'm just kidding, Josh. There.
- 2:34There is ugliness to Josh's thoughts when it comes to the
- 2:37New York Knicks. If it doesn't go his way, he's
- 2:40complaining. He's crying.
- 2:42Like all you Knick fans. When the Knicks are winning,
- 2:45you're dancing around with your your pants off your chest.
- 2:48You're bare chested, sticking out, dancing around on a on a
- 2:52camera center stage for all you Knick fans.
- 2:55And when they're losing, you're making crybaby antics all over
- 2:58social media and crying and complaining all over the world.
- 3:03So it is typical New York at its fullest.
- 3:07But I, I will say this, I, I look at what is going on in
- 3:11professional sports, you can only wonder, is this a business
- 3:15or is this something to do with the league and what it's all
- 3:20about? Now we all know about the NBA
- 3:22and the LJA, the LeBron James Association, the NHL.
- 3:26I love what Gary Bettman's doing right now for all the people out
- 3:28there that Boo him every time at the draft thinking that this guy
- 3:32doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't know how to bring
- 3:35money into their association. Well, you're absolutely wrong
- 3:38with the new CBA that they brought in some of the new TV
- 3:42deals that they have. I think the NHL is doing very,
- 3:45very well. And then you look at the NFL.
- 3:47We all know Roger Goodell doesn't need to do anything.
- 3:50He can wipe his ass and he's going to get a new sponsor, a
- 3:53new advertiser because the NFL is the NFL here in in Long
- 3:57Island, New York and around the world.
- 4:00We all know how sports is when it comes to New York and, and,
- 4:05and really throughout the United States.
- 4:07So we know Rodger Goodell is going to find a way to bring in
- 4:10money and and sell it to every single person out there that's
- 4:13enjoying the sport of football. But what really bothers me more
- 4:17than anything is the way the NBA runs their product.
- 4:21I don't like anything about what the NBA does.
- 4:24I don't know if I would fully blame LeBron James, but look,
- 4:29it's really started to happen when David Stern step stepped
- 4:32down and gave it to Adam Silver. And Adam Silver, even though
- 4:36he's bringing so much money and so much cash for the new TV
- 4:40deals that they're getting and, and all the different
- 4:42advertisers that they've been bringing in over the last couple
- 4:45of years, including Nike, which is a world phenomenon really for
- 4:50the last 30-40 years, Nike is bringing in so much money for
- 4:54the NBA. The problem right now really
- 4:57lies between what Adam Silver is doing for the players.
- 5:01It's not anything about the fans anymore.
- 5:03It's not about anything when it comes to the money that is being
- 5:08brought in by the fans. It's all about the players and
- 5:11what the players could do when it comes to the product.
- 5:14And I don't like what the NBA is doing right now as we watch the
- 5:18NBA playoffs. And it's fun to watch as we're
- 5:20watching so many great series, the Nugget series, the Golden
- 5:23State series which just ended, and then obviously the Knicks
- 5:27series, the Pacer series that was an absolute blowout.
- 5:30But All in all, it's been fun. The playoffs are always fun, but
- 5:34it bothers me when I look at the league and what it's doing and
- 5:37how they don't appreciate the fans.
- 5:39The fans are not the number one priority.
- 5:41And it's been a big problem over the last couple years.
- 5:43And I blame LeBron James and all the other players, the Kevin
- 5:46Durants, those type of players that are selfish me type of
- 5:50players, including Kyrie Irving for over the years of all the
- 5:53craziness that he has done on and off the basketball court.
- 5:56But I'm not going to get into that.
- 5:57ESPN reports that Jason Tatum suffered A torn Achilles injury.
- 6:03He suffered in fourth in the fourth quarter in Game 4 versus
- 6:07the New York Knicks. Tatum had a surgery already and
- 6:09is expected to miss all of next season.
- 6:11Tatum surgery was done by the same doctor.
- 6:15Kevin Durant got his surgery in 2019 and Durant was able to
- 6:20return in the beginning of 2020. In the season, the Celtics blew
- 6:24out the Knicks in game five of their series, 127 to one O 2
- 6:29with Derek White leading the Celtics to a 34 point game.
- 6:33Jaylen Brown nearly had a triple double, 26 points, 12 assists
- 6:37and eight rebounds. Tom Thibodeau was criticized by
- 6:40the media in regards to giving the starters too many minutes
- 6:45and Tibbs said you have to play, play the best players to have a
- 6:49chance to win. Charles Oakley defended Tom
- 6:51Thibodeau saying that minute police, but I'm sorry, the
- 6:55minute police's or police, the Knicks fans have no idea what
- 7:00they're talking about when it comes to tips.
- 7:03You know, I love Charles Oakley, I love everything about him.
- 7:06I got a chance to meet him. I got a chance to interview him
- 7:08a couple I would say about a year ago.
- 7:10It was fun to interview him. He was one of my favorite
- 7:13players as a New York Knick, and I'm not going to sit there and
- 7:16harass or attack what Charles Oakley has to say because he
- 7:19knows what it takes to win. He was there in 94 when the
- 7:22Knicks went all the way to the NBA championship against the the
- 7:26one and only Hakeem Olajuwon. Rockets.
- 7:28We all know about that choke that they had in Game 7 and
- 7:31really Game six. We know the whole background.
- 7:34So I'm not going to attack Charles Oakley.
- 7:36What really bothers me is Tom Thibodeau.
- 7:39Tom Thibodeau has a chance to close out the Boston Celtics in
- 7:42five games, give his team at least a couple of days of rest
- 7:46before they got to go into that Pacer series where you have a
- 7:49young Pacer team that's flying high.
- 7:51They just knocked off the Cavaliers and what five games
- 7:54and Cavalier team that was unstoppable, as everybody said.
- 7:57And some people thought were going to be up to win an NBA
- 8:01championship this year with Kenny Atkinson and obviously the
- 8:04Spider. But the Spider wasn't 100%
- 8:06healthy and the team was fighting injury really for the
- 8:08last two weeks of the season going into the playoffs.
- 8:10But I I look at Tom Thibodeau and he's made an excuse all
- 8:14season long. And the problem with Tom
- 8:16Thibodeau is really giving his players a relief on the bench,
- 8:21giving them time to rest, giving them and using a rotation that
- 8:25actually fits and gives the Knicks the best chance to win.
- 8:29It's been a big problem all season long.
- 8:31And when you have guys like Cam Payne who shouldn't be playing,
- 8:35I know he was big in the Detroit series in one game and he made,
- 8:39he needs some shots. He forces shots.
- 8:40He really doesn't defend. And you have Jalen Brunson who
- 8:44fouled out for the first time. I don't remember the last time
- 8:46Jalen Brunson fouled out in the game in in the last couple of
- 8:49years. He fouled out in an important
- 8:51game in the fourth quarter with about 7 minutes left.
- 8:54And it just shows you one thing. Are the Knicks ready to take
- 8:58that next step? We've been saying this forever,
- 9:01but I, I don't know, I, I don't know what Nick team is going to
- 9:05show up every single night. You're in Madison Square Garden,
- 9:09you're in Celtic, Celtic, Ville over there in Boston.
- 9:12I don't know what it is, but for some reason, the Knicks cannot
- 9:16be consistent. There are games that Mikhail
- 9:18Bridges disappears for the 1st 3/4 and then shows up in the
- 9:21fourth in the overtime. There are games that OG and
- 9:24Anobi can hit shots and not miss.
- 9:26And then there are games that he can't hit any shots and then the
- 9:29defensive side of the ball. Why is it that a guy like, and
- 9:34I'm going to say this to be honest, and I'm saying this to
- 9:36be true, Derek White is not a good offensive player, never was
- 9:41and really has really transitioned into a decent
- 9:44offensive player. This guy is built on defense.
- 9:47That's why he's on this team. That's why the Celtics traded
- 9:50for him. And that's why he's he got his
- 9:52extension and that's why he made the Olympic team because that's
- 9:55what he does defensively. He's a great defender at the
- 9:58perimeter. He is not a three-point shooter.
- 10:00He is not a great offensive player.
- 10:03Why is he scoring 34 points against a Knick team that should
- 10:06absolutely be able to defend him?
- 10:08It doesn't make any sense. And Jaylen Brown, I I don't know
- 10:11if anybody knows his story after Tatum went down after the game.
- 10:14Tatum Jaylen Brown had a it close, had a close conversation
- 10:20with all his teammates in the locker room saying that we
- 10:23should be playing better. Tatum or no Tatum.
- 10:26We are one of the best teams in the NBA and we can win this
- 10:29series. And we got to go out there and
- 10:31play our game. And they did in game five.
- 10:33And if they continue doing it in Game 6 and Game 7, the Knicks
- 10:37are going to go down. But I don't know why anybody
- 10:40thinks that this was going to be a shoe in game.
- 10:43I did not think it. And and by the way, there are
- 10:47guys that were coming off the bench and you know who I'm
- 10:50talking about, the big man Speedy and and I to me, he was
- 10:55the player of the game. Every time they needed a big
- 10:57rebound, every time they needed a a big defensive player.
- 11:00This guy was everywhere to be. And he was actually a a former
- 11:04Nick. The Knicks didn't hold on to
- 11:06him. And then?
- 11:07He looks. He looks 50.
- 11:10He could look 50, he could look 60 if he plays.
- 11:12That way, two years of college too, at Duke.
- 11:15If he plays that way, they're going to have a chance to win
- 11:17this series because the Knicks have no answer to their
- 11:21secondary players. Why is Al Horford, when he gets
- 11:24into the game, actually hitting jump shots that are open?
- 11:27Why is it that the Knicks don't understand what a rotation is
- 11:32and this defense is more than good enough to knock off this
- 11:36Boston Celtic team? Jaylen Brown's the best player
- 11:38on this roster right now. Porzingis isn't 100%.
- 11:41You have Jason Tatum that's out for the rest of the season and
- 11:44next year. So the Celtics are not the same
- 11:47offensive team they've been all season long.
- 11:50And then it's beat them with Jason Tatum.
- 11:52How do you let this team completely dominate you in Game
- 11:565 when you should have just absolutely pride, you know,
- 11:59trounced on them? It was just, it was embarrassing
- 12:03and I'm not going to sit here and I'm not going to cry about
- 12:05it. They got a chance to end any
- 12:06game number six. If they let this go to a game #7
- 12:09the momentum is on the Boston Celtics side and they get to
- 12:12play it at home. They get to finish the the
- 12:15series at home and that gives them the full momentum.
- 12:18The Knicks do not want, wants this, this series to go to a
- 12:21Game 7. Now, I'll sit here and I'll be
- 12:23honest with you, I don't trust Tom Thibodeau.
- 12:26I don't trust him in a hole in a wall.
- 12:27I don't think this guy knows what he's doing.
- 12:29I think he's always choked. We've seen him go to Eastern
- 12:32Conference championships against Miami with Derrick Rose and that
- 12:36team, that great Bulls team that was the best team in Eastern
- 12:40Conference that year. And, and Derrick Rose, I if I'm
- 12:44not mistaken, he was the MVP of the league.
- 12:47And you let LeBron James and Miami play the way you did the
- 12:52play the way they they did in that series and completely
- 12:55dominate a a team like the Chicago Bulls that was very
- 13:01round, very good and rounded all the way through from the
- 13:04defensive side of the ball, from the offensive side of the ball.
- 13:07And they just completely dominated because LeBron James
- 13:10decided to take his defensive side of the and his prowess to
- 13:15Derrick Rose and made Derrick Rose try to beat him.
- 13:17And, and Tom Thibodeau had no answer for Derrick Rose.
- 13:21And now you look at Jalen Brown. I don't.
- 13:24I know you look at Jaylen Browns numbers, they don't really stick
- 13:27out. I know he had a triple double,
- 13:28but you would have thought that Jaylen Brown would be shooting
- 13:30most of the shots. Jaylen Brown would be scoring 40
- 13:33points just like Jason Tatum. But Jaylen Brown does so many
- 13:36things so good. He doesn't need to score 40
- 13:40points. He can get you assist, he's
- 13:42going to get your rebounds and he's going to defend multiple
- 13:44positions. And if you can't take Jaylen
- 13:47Brown, it doesn't matter if Derek Wright scores 34 points on
- 13:50you. If you keep Jaylen Brown down 20
- 13:53points and keep him out of his confidence and his structure of
- 13:57his game, then the Knicks are going to win the series.
- 14:00Porzingis is a no show. If you get 15 to 20 minutes for
- 14:04Porzingis, you're lucky. The Celtics know that Porzingis
- 14:08is not 100% healthy. The only reason why he's playing
- 14:10and he's playing as many minutes as he has in this series is
- 14:13because now that Jason Tatum's down, and really, they know that
- 14:17he is a decoy on the court for the New York Knicks.
- 14:20And I, I got to give a shout out to one player.
- 14:23Robertson played a sensational game and I, I'll say this about
- 14:28Mitch. Mitch actually practice like I
- 14:30was saying on Monday, he needs to figure out his free throw
- 14:34problem. He did.
- 14:35He was 6 for six in Game 5. So if he plays like that and
- 14:38he's shooting his free throws, they're not going to play hack a
- 14:41Mitch, but they need this defense, this team.
- 14:45And by the way, Karl Anthony Towns, stop flopping, stop being
- 14:49a bitch cuz that's what he is, and stop complaining to the
- 14:52referees and go out there and play your game.
- 14:55You are one of the best players on this team.
- 14:57And if Jalen Brunson is fouling out and he's not having his best
- 15:02offensive day, you should be the next guy up, not OG and Anobi,
- 15:06not McHale Bridges, not Josh Hart.
- 15:08You should. That's why the Knicks brought
- 15:11you here, that's why the Knicks wanted you so bad.
- 15:14And Leon Rose would do anything to make that move to bring you
- 15:17over there from Minnesota to New York.
- 15:21Go look at the other players right now.
- 15:22Randall's playing well. Minnesota's going right now to
- 15:25the Western Conference finals for back-to-back years.
- 15:27Dante Diva, Chancel's playing well.
- 15:29This is the second year in a row the Timberwolves have a chance
- 15:33to go to the finals. And they got a very good chance
- 15:36because the West is really not as good as it's been over the
- 15:39years. So, and there's no surprises
- 15:41here. We expected this.
- 15:43So I, I just, I don't understand the, the problem right now and I
- 15:47don't understand the, the rotation of the Knicks
- 15:50offensively and defensively. And the Knicks got to figure out
- 15:53why are they putting in pieces in the game.
- 15:57I campaign and, and even McBride, who hasn't played well
- 16:01really throughout the playoffs. If McBride and campaign are not
- 16:04at the top of their game, you got to try other guys.
- 16:07Why isn't precious playing? Why aren't the bigger guys
- 16:09playing? You have a chance to use your
- 16:12size against a team that's not as big as you, not as strong as
- 16:16is you, and you are. When you're at full, full
- 16:18strength with Mitchell Robinson and Karl Anthony Towns, you're
- 16:22arguably the best offensive rebounded team in the league.
- 16:25Yeah, You also look at the matchups that the Celtics had to
- 16:27play in this game. Luke Cornett playing a lot more
- 16:30for Porzingis, I think was a big reason for that because
- 16:32Porzingis, especially on defense, looks like a big
- 16:34liability in that game as well. And then Sam Houser in the
- 16:37second-half playing as well as he did coming back from his
- 16:39injury. Like, these are not matchups
- 16:41that the Knicks should be losing with those guys on the floor
- 16:44with Robinson and especially with Towns, who had a lot of
- 16:47problems defensively in that game, had a lot of problems
- 16:49defensively even in other parts during this postseason.
- 16:51And the Celtics stuck with that. And they could have kept
- 16:54Porzingis back at, oh, he's going to ride the hot hand and
- 16:56still go with let's bring Porzingis back.
- 16:58No, they stuck with Cornett and Cornett obviously at 7 blocks,
- 17:01he was everywhere on the defensive side of the ball and
- 17:03made the other difference. You were talking about Jalen
- 17:04Brown too. Like Jalen Brown could have
- 17:05easily gone into his post season woes that he's had in the past
- 17:08two where he's overshooting the threes and being very
- 17:11inefficient with the ball. He did not do that in this game.
- 17:13And I think the Celtics recognized that.
- 17:14They finally used a depth to their advantage.
- 17:15I was talking about the adversity factor in Game 2 when
- 17:18the Knicks of the two O lead. This is a talent driven team,
- 17:20not an adversity driven team. They're back to the being the
- 17:21adversity driven team. And now it's up to the Knicks to
- 17:23find their own adversity too. When like you said, Jalen
- 17:26Bronson's in foul trouble. If Towns was in foul trouble in
- 17:28the past, where is that adversity coming from?
- 17:29Their bench has been awful the last three games.
- 17:31Wake up. And yeah, Tom Thibodeau has to
- 17:33be more creative and not so stubborn with his rotations
- 17:36because otherwise it can come back to haunt him again,
- 17:38especially with campaign who can't do anything right.
- 17:41Yeah. And we've talked about it
- 17:43already with how he's managing the rotation.
- 17:47And I mean, and then obviously you come in, you lose a guy like
- 17:52Tatum, then you get a guy like Cornet that gives you 1077
- 17:56blocks and 9 rebounds and, you know, plays, you know, 23 solid
- 18:00minutes and got after it. It's I mean, it's just it's hard
- 18:05to watch cat on the defensive side.
- 18:09I know fish has fish has got something up his sleeve.
- 18:13So I'll I'll let him go on his rant for that one.
- 18:16But it's just, I feel like he gets lost like in the moment of
- 18:21the game, like where he has kind of scripted and he's not
- 18:25watching how the game ebbs and flows of when to bring in.
- 18:29I agree with you Fish. I, I don't think Porzingis plays
- 18:32more than 12. He he played 18, then he played
- 18:3423 and then his last game he only played 12.
- 18:36And it's just I. I don't know if he's lost or if
- 18:39it's just T. He's not healthy.
- 18:41Obvious. Yeah, he's obviously not
- 18:43healthy, but nobody's healthy right now.
- 18:45Let's just be. Honest.
- 18:46No, he's really He shouldn't even be in this series.
- 18:49I don't know why he's still playing.
- 18:50Right now, they won't say what it is, Errol.
- 18:53Yeah, some weird illness. They won't.
- 18:54They won't say. He should not be playing.
- 18:57So, yeah, but I mean, when you lose a guy like that, I think
- 19:03Errol, you're right. Like if they they laid an egg,
- 19:06right? OK, that's fine.
- 19:07But now it's, you know, a little bit of moment, all right?
- 19:11You know, they beat us with Tatum, but then we stepped up,
- 19:14we had guys step up and it's, it's a little different.
- 19:18But they I me personally, if they don't end it the next game,
- 19:23then I I think they lose the. Series I disagree I I I still
- 19:27think the Knicks have a chance to win game seven.
- 19:29I I still have the Knicks winning in game seven.
- 19:31But the momentum will be on the Celtic side.
- 19:35If the Celtics come back from A2 game remember they were down 3
- 19:38to 1. If they win two games
- 19:40back-to-back games and they go back home in Boston, they have
- 19:43the momentum. But again, the pressure's still
- 19:45on them because the Knicks were not supposed to win this series.
- 19:48The Celtics were so I I know you everybody thinks that if the
- 19:52Knicks lose this game and it's over, it's done.
- 19:54I know Josh said it on his show on game on.
- 19:56I disagree. I just don't like the way the
- 20:00Knicks have played when they have the advantage against
- 20:03Detroit. They had the advantage in that
- 20:05series really back and forth and then they'd lay up a lousy goose
- 20:09egg. You're a better team than
- 20:10Detroit. I don't care what you did in the
- 20:12regular team again season against them.
- 20:14I don't care what your record was against the Celtics in the
- 20:16regular season or the Cavaliers. I expect what you're I want to
- 20:19know what you're going to do in the playoffs and I expect better
- 20:22in the playoffs with the. Talent that you have around
- 20:24Jalen Bronson, you brought in Mikhail Bridges, you brought him
- 20:27in for the playoffs. You brought him in because he's
- 20:29a great wing defender and he could take over games.
- 20:31We've seen him do it. We've seen him do it in
- 20:33Villanova with guys like Jalen Bronson and Josh Hart.
- 20:36And then you go to OG and Anobi. Why did you give OG and Anobi
- 20:40$240 million in the offseason? Because you expect him to be a
- 20:44Kawhi Leonard type of player. Can take over defensively, can
- 20:48rebound, could shoot, get to the line and defend multiple
- 20:52positions and OG disappears in certain games.
- 20:55I don't get it. And it's really and it has to do
- 20:59with coaching. Tom Thibodeau needs to step up
- 21:02to the plate, stop making these ugly frown faces on the
- 21:06sideline. And it just, it makes me
- 21:08disgusted every time I watch this guy coach because I just
- 21:12don't know if he knows what he's doing.
- 21:14He's making him that one guy. He's making those faces at Karl
- 21:18Anthony Towns Karl Anthony towns must be the most frustrating
- 21:21great player to ever play this game.
- 21:24I've never seen a guy with as much talent shooting with
- 21:28shooting touch from outside ability to pull up from well
- 21:31beyond the three-point arc ability to drive to the lane
- 21:34ability to pass while driving to the lane and post up.
- 21:38But at the same time he he it's like he's playing NBA jam out
- 21:42there. He, he he's so he just fouls
- 21:45everybody. There was a sequence arrow where
- 21:48he does the two handed NBA Jam. You hit, you know, like the, the
- 21:52whatever 2 buttons at the same time to foul him in the arcade.
- 21:56He got it was his second foul. And then he gets the next
- 21:59possession. He tries to take a three.
- 22:02He's what, 611? He gets blocked by Derek White
- 22:05and then what does he do? He then reaches over Derek White
- 22:09and wrestles him and gets a foul, compounding the mistake
- 22:12and now he's got 3 fouls. That's what happened with around
- 22:157 minutes left in the second quarter.
- 22:17And the Knicks actually played better because Mitch has been
- 22:20playing great on defense and they did this hack and Mitch
- 22:23thing, but he had all six of his foul shots, which is awesome.
- 22:26Don't expect them to be 100% from the foul line every game.
- 22:29Career 58% so if he gives you half of them.
- 22:32I'm glad he did and. We'll take 6 of.
- 22:34That pressure. But look, this it's a
- 22:37traditional, you know, the rally at home for the troops game, all
- 22:41of their guys were hitting shots.
- 22:42Derek White couldn't miss. Pritchard was great, you know,
- 22:46but there's a there's a rule about this in the playoffs is
- 22:50the bench doesn't travel. Campaign was terrible.
- 22:52OG and Michael didn't have their shot.
- 22:54They didn't have their shot at all.
- 22:55Niles Bridges shooting over 50% for this series so he's actually
- 22:59been like their savior for any offense when Jalen's not on the
- 23:03court. And Jalen got in foul trouble
- 23:05because they were calling ticky tack shit against him in that
- 23:07game and it was bullshit. But if you like the guys that
- 23:11are, you know, coming out the bed that are only playing like 2
- 23:13minutes, one of my boys who watches our show and he's at the
- 23:17game, Tommy, shout out to him. He listens all the time,
- 23:20especially when it comes to his Knicks.
- 23:21He's passionate about that. He says he wishes they would
- 23:25play Precious a little bit more in the rotation to get him more
- 23:27like 11:50. Minutes So like the thing with
- 23:30Cat is you want I think what they want him to do is you want
- 23:35that second offense when Jalen's kind of taking a back seat to be
- 23:39you want to have they tried this two center thing.
- 23:41It doesn't work because he can't play stretched out as a four.
- 23:45So it just doesn't work defensively.
- 23:47But they do try to get the miles Bridges of miles.
- 23:50I keep saying it, Mikhail Bridges and Cat like 2 man
- 23:54offense going when Jalen's not on the court, you know, at the
- 23:57end, at the beginning of the second quarter, beginning of the
- 23:59fourth quarter and it does look good.
- 24:01They need to get him going, but he was Invisible Man on offense,
- 24:06hitting shots that didn't matter.
- 24:07Maybe he had one good big shot in the entire game, hit a good
- 24:10three at one point. That was in a big moment in the
- 24:12game for momentum swing. But everything else was just
- 24:15like nothing. And defensively he's exposed.
- 24:20So he's the guy that's being frustrating and you can't have
- 24:24these horrible fouls. And once that happens, it's a
- 24:27chain effect. Right now, guys have to play out
- 24:29of position to make up for the fact that he's not in there.
- 24:32And they got to play small when they didn't want to play small.
- 24:34OG's got a guards guard cornet, who apparently is the second
- 24:37coming of I. I don't even like who is it Sean
- 24:41Bradley blocking ability, but some but some like great power
- 24:44forward. Honestly, it's like, it's like,
- 24:47I wish we had Julius Randle right now.
- 24:50No, you don't. No, you don't.
- 24:52Playing great. You don't want Julie.
- 24:54No, you don't. Because I don't really do
- 24:56because but it's like I do he, he.
- 24:59Didn't do well here in New York. Maybe he's doing better because
- 25:02there's less pressure over there with the double you.
- 25:04Know 20 point, triple double he's he's leading the way.
- 25:07But he already knows. But he when he was here with the
- 25:10New York Knicks, he always thought he was better than
- 25:12Jaylen Brunson. He always thought he was the
- 25:14guy. That's what he thought.
- 25:16And then he goes over there with Anthony Edwards.
- 25:18He already knows he's not the other guy and that's why he
- 25:21takes a step back and he lets Anthony Edwards do what Anthony
- 25:24Edwards does very well and that's take over games and be
- 25:27crude and, you know, idiotic sometimes on and off the
- 25:30basketball court. And Mitch and a guy like
- 25:33Mitchell Robertson, you would expect that he gives that evil
- 25:36like that, I guess, that angry type of player on the basketball
- 25:41court that the Knicks haven't had all season long because Karl
- 25:44Anthony Towns is like a little girl running up and down the
- 25:46court. That's what he is.
- 25:48He doesn't take over games when he gets pushed around.
- 25:50We've seen it. Look at Detroit.
- 25:52Look what Detroit was doing to Carl Anthony Towns in that
- 25:54series. They were pushing him around,
- 25:56pushing him in the wrong places or in places he was
- 25:58uncomfortable in. And then Carl Anthony Towns went
- 26:01stay away from me and push him away like a little baby.
- 26:04And then you have guys like Mitchell Robertson that will not
- 26:07like Tim Hardaway. Remember Tim Hardaway Junior
- 26:09when he was pushing him around, he was at the foul line getting
- 26:12technical fouls because he was like, don't touch me, don't put
- 26:15your hands on me, I'll smash you like a bug.
- 26:17So you need that, that type of aggressive type of player.
- 26:21And the Knicks have it with Mitchell Robinson and I think
- 26:23Mitch is starting to get comfortable.
- 26:25But here's the problem with Mitch on the court, you lose
- 26:28that offensive option. And if Michael Bridges is not
- 26:31hitting shots and OG Anobis not hitting shots, and by the way,
- 26:35why do the Knicks start so flat? They start so flat in every
- 26:41single game. They did it against Detroit and
- 26:43except maybe I think two or three games and they doing it
- 26:46against right now, the stuff. There's not one game in this
- 26:50series the Knicks haven't started flat.
- 26:52Go look, In every single first quarter, the Knicks were
- 26:55practically down by at least double digits.
- 26:58That's a problem when you're playing catch up with a team
- 27:02that's a champion. You could say whatever you want.
- 27:04That's. What this team does though,
- 27:06right? That's this.
- 27:06That's why they were champions. They just get big leads on you
- 27:09because they shoot it and they shoot it early in the shot clock
- 27:12and they shoot it off in and they get guys to get rebounds
- 27:15and then they can cut off of it and hit more threes because they
- 27:18had Tatum and they had Brown doing all The Dirty work.
- 27:21But now they don't have Tatum and they won't have them next
- 27:23year with the torn Achilles for a single game.
- 27:25So now it sets their clock back. And I kind of wanted to before
- 27:28we leave this, what exactly is going to happen to the Celtics
- 27:32team next year? So I, I think the Knicks will
- 27:34win tomorrow night. They should I, I think they will
- 27:38and I think it might. They'll win kind of easily.
- 27:40I disagree. It's I think.
- 27:41It's going to be close and then I think they'll run away with it
- 27:44in the 4th. And I I think that's that's what
- 27:46this series deserves is the Knicks to have that because the
- 27:50Celtics have our battle tested team.
- 27:52They were awesome in that game. All of their role players
- 27:55stepped up. Don't expect the role players to
- 27:56do that on the road. So now we talk about guys that
- 28:00are out there in their contract. Porzingis doesn't play in this
- 28:02game. He they benched him in the
- 28:04second-half. I don't think he's going to see
- 28:06the. He's not healthy.
- 28:06I think it's going to be, I don't think they should put him
- 28:08out there. He's a liability.
- 28:10Even Towns was making him look bad while he was out there and
- 28:13Towns played like shit, so it was that bad for Porzingis.
- 28:17He's gone. They're going to get rid of him
- 28:19for whatever they can. Drew, a holiday is going to.
- 28:21Yeah, he's going to be gone. And again, they're going to be
- 28:24looking in the offseason either to add a player, make a big
- 28:27splash, because we know Brad Stevens likes to do that.
- 28:31He's a Danny Ainge type of disciple that that likes to find
- 28:34things that are not there. And all of a sudden in full
- 28:36right into the the Celtics lap. It's happened many, many times,
- 28:40including Porzingis. Who would have thought that they
- 28:42were going to land Porzingis? And they did.
- 28:44That was a Brad Stevens move. I think that in the offseason
- 28:47they're either going to decide, Hey, Jayson Tatum is not going
- 28:49to be back next year. Maybe we're a decent team.
- 28:52We're we're amongst the we're a top eight team in the East.
- 28:56Even if we fall out of the playoffs, we have a chance to be
- 28:58a lottery team and maybe the NBA, just like what we've seen
- 29:02with The Mavericks, what we've seen with the Spurs and the
- 29:0576ers. Maybe we'll get lucky and the
- 29:07LJA will put us in the top three and we'll get a player to come
- 29:10and play with Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum.
- 29:13When Jason Tatum comes back, say whatever you want and I love
- 29:15Jason Tatum. When he went up on social media
- 29:17and he said I'll be back. Reggie Miller was talking,
- 29:20talking to him during the game and Reggie Miller said that
- 29:23Jason Tatum, he can't wait to come back in, that he wants to
- 29:26prove to everybody he can come back from an injury like this.
- 29:28I'm going to tell you guys this right now.
- 29:29Jason Tatum will not be the same player when he comes back.
- 29:32He will be 30 years old. Jason Tatum right now is going
- 29:36to be 28. In two years he will be 30.
- 29:39He's right there on the cusp. If I'm not mistaken, he's 28.
- 29:43He's going to be 28 at the end of this year or something of
- 29:46that magnitude. He is going to be about 30 years
- 29:49old. He's at the tail end of his
- 29:52basketball career and now you, your Achilles, Kobe Bryant was
- 29:55never the same. Kevin Durant was never the same.
- 29:58You watch all these guys that look at Klay Thompson, he was
- 30:00never the same. Every one of these guys that
- 30:03tore their Achilles, they were never the same.
- 30:05Speaking of a team that just completely dominated and and a
- 30:09Cavalier team that was never the same was the Pacers knocking
- 30:14them off in game number 5114105 to advance to their second
- 30:19straight Eastern Conference finals.
- 30:21Donovan Mitchell played 38 minutes minced having an ankle
- 30:25injury and finished with 35 points and 9 rebounds.
- 30:29Evan Mobley had 24 points, but no other Cavalier player had
- 30:34more than 12 points including Darius Garland, which I thought
- 30:37was very important if they were going to win that series.
- 30:40The Pacers came back from down 19 points, their third time
- 30:44coming back from a double digit deficit in this series.
- 30:48Rick Carlisle said that the Cavaliers are the the better
- 30:51team when healthy, but the Pacers.
- 30:54Pacers have gotten hot at the right time and showed it all in
- 30:58this series. Carlisle now has 34 postseason
- 31:02wins with the Pacers, already surpassing his total when he
- 31:06coached with The Mavericks here. It's pretty simple.
- 31:10The Pacers to me were the healthy team.
- 31:13They had the best player in this series and Tyrese Halliburton,
- 31:17he he seems like he thrives when their pressure is on him.
- 31:20After what happened in that Buck series and and, and what his
- 31:24father did, I think he wanted to step up and show everybody why
- 31:27he's one of the best point guards in this league.
- 31:29I think this guy is is a huge personality.
- 31:32The NBA needs a player of this magnitude.
- 31:34He stands up for all the different players over the years
- 31:38that couldn't succeed over there with the Pacers.
- 31:41I can go on and on and on and teams, great Pacer teams that
- 31:45couldn't get over the hump. This is a Pacer team that has a
- 31:47chance to go to the finals this year.
- 31:49Last year they went to the Eastern Conference finals.
- 31:51It seems like they get better and better and better.
- 31:54Rick Carlisle is one of the most underrated coaches in the NBA
- 31:57right now. Defensive minded, but really has
- 32:00transitioned his style of play into an offensive style of play
- 32:04in a fast pace young youth type of rotation.
- 32:08I love what Tyrese Halberton stands for.
- 32:10I just don't like how he opens his mouth in certain aspects,
- 32:16either during the game or after the game where he throws other
- 32:19teams under the bus, players under the bus.
- 32:21We heard what he saw said about the New York Knicks last year.
- 32:24We've heard what he said about numerous teams over the last
- 32:28couple of years. I think he needs all that.
- 32:30He comes by it honestly, obviously, as from what we've
- 32:33seen, yeah, from what his dad is.
- 32:35Yeah, well, I think he's cocky, but it's good to be cocky when
- 32:39you trust in your game and you trust in your personality.
- 32:42You love what he stands for. Evan Mobley, he needs to be
- 32:45traded in the offseason. Evan Mobley just doesn't stand
- 32:49for what you're looking for, for a big man that's going to want
- 32:52to get paid a lot of money. This is a guy that I think just
- 32:55got extended. If I'm not mistaken, he just got
- 32:57extended and even though he scored 24 points, it was in a
- 33:00game that you want him to take over you.
- 33:03If you know your your best players in 100% healthy,
- 33:06Garland's not 100% healthy. You expect this guy to score 35
- 33:10points, dominate on the offensive side of the board?
- 33:12Why are you letting other players out play you on the
- 33:16boards and defensively? Mobley is not the player I
- 33:19thought he was going to be when he came out of USCI.
- 33:21Think he needs to be an optional player that they look to move in
- 33:25the offseason if they want to get better.
- 33:26Maybe at a Giannis and trade Mobley and a bunch of players in
- 33:30that trade to to land a superstar to go and play with
- 33:33Donovan Mitch. I don't know.
- 33:35But to me in this series, it really stands for one thing.
- 33:38The Pacers are ready to take that next step forward.
- 33:41They're going to either go have to go through the Celtics and
- 33:43the Knicks. I believe whoever wins this
- 33:46series with the Celtics and the Knicks are favorites of coming
- 33:50out of the East and winning the NBA championship.
- 33:53There's only one team out of the the four teams in a Western
- 33:56Conference I think could beat the Knicks or the Celtics before
- 33:59Tatum went down. And that that team is the
- 34:01Nuggets, the Timberwolves. I question their rotation.
- 34:05I question is, is a guy like Randall, if, if the Timberwolves
- 34:10go to the Finals, are they going to be able or is he going to be
- 34:13able to step forward and beat the Knicks in Madison Square
- 34:16Garden where the fans are going to be prouncing on him as
- 34:20they've done many, many years when he was over there when he
- 34:22was shooting bricks. So I I just think that this
- 34:25series really lies on the the Knicks getting through the
- 34:29Celtics and then challenging a young Pacer team and a Tyrese
- 34:33Halperton and how you shut him down.
- 34:35Yeah, and that's the advantage of the Pacers have getting in
- 34:37this series done as quickly as they did, even amidst all the
- 34:39injuries before that, too. They were still coming back in
- 34:41Game One and Game 2 to win those games.
- 34:43That's not going to be taken lightly.
- 34:44That was before all they had all three of those guys out.
- 34:47And you're bringing up Rick Carlisle.
- 34:49I talked about this with Jim Harbaugh and Jim.
- 34:50Harbaugh by the. Chargers I thought he had to
- 34:52change his coaching style if he wanted to adapt to the.
- 34:55Young, I am a legend. And remember the fallout he had
- 34:57with Luke Godonchick? It was pretty ugly at the end of
- 34:59his tenure with Dallas. I think he's changed his
- 35:02philosophy to adhere to these younger players very well,
- 35:04getting Halliburton to another. Level.
- 35:06I got to go back off now since. He's gotten there, they trade
- 35:08him from the Kings. I think it was the second year
- 35:10Carlisle was there and he is the anti Tom Thibodeau.
- 35:13He'll actually play 8 or 9 guys off the bench and know when to
- 35:16use them in the right ways. And that's a big tactic to be
- 35:19able to use against Thibodeau, who's the opposite or.
- 35:21Against I farted. Joe Missoula, which maybe he's
- 35:24showing some adversity, but he's still not a great overall coach
- 35:26compared to Rick Carlisle and that's it's a big deal for the
- 35:28Pacer to have for Cleveland. Just unfortunate with all the
- 35:30injuries that piled up. But you do have to be a little
- 35:32worried with Darius Garland. He's been very inconsistent in
- 35:34the playoffs too. For a second option.
- 35:35That's not an ideal thing. You're muted.
- 35:40Yeah, I got it. I was trying not to laugh too
- 35:43hard as it's going a. Lot of hot ladies.
- 35:50I think and you talked about it and I think Rick Carlisle is
- 35:55really, really like adept to seeing how the game, like I said
- 35:59earlier, is like the ebbs and flows of the game.
- 36:01But he's got 10 people with over 10 minutes and it and I think,
- 36:04you know, obviously, you know, you never want to see obviously
- 36:07Cleveland renew the obviously great regular season, but just
- 36:10injuries sometimes just you bite you in the butt and that's just
- 36:13kind of the way it is. I just could always I always
- 36:17like looking at these series too.
- 36:19When now a team is going to have extra rest days.
- 36:22Does that hurt or hinder them? Usually it helps in basketball,
- 36:26it hurts in hockey. Right, right.
- 36:29And so I, I like seeing it in and then I like, I like here and
- 36:33there because it's always a question that gets presented is
- 36:35like, did you take the extra time?
- 36:38You know, do you think you guys lost momentum or, you know, it's
- 36:41time for you guys to, you know, bandage some bumps and bruises
- 36:45or what have you? So I I always like when they're
- 36:48because this is obviously they're going to get, I think
- 36:51three extra days off. Yep, I believe that's right.
- 36:53I don't know how long this is still going.
- 36:54To have we a week after this series.
- 36:56Is over. It'll be close to a week.
- 36:58It's almost a week, yes. So, and and therein lies to
- 37:02where that momentum can, you know, kind of diminish a little
- 37:05bit, but you also, you know, with the ability to, you know,
- 37:10recover and get that. So, Jabba, that's one thing.
- 37:12Jabba, the advantage I think the Pacers have for the for the rest
- 37:15of the playoffs, no matter how far they go, is they have the
- 37:18best coach in the playoffs by far right now.
- 37:21If you look at the the coaches from OK C to the Timberwolves to
- 37:25the Knicks to even the Celtics, Rick Carlisle is the best coach
- 37:29out of all of them. He's a champion.
- 37:31He's played, he's coached multiple great teams over the
- 37:34years. He comes back to the Pacers
- 37:36after stepping down and walking away from a Dallas Maverick team
- 37:40that won a championship a couple of years ago with Dirk Nowinski.
- 37:44You have Luka Dodgek, you have all the players, and then you
- 37:47give the reins to Jason Kidd. You go over there to a young
- 37:49Pacer team and really completely change the transition of a young
- 37:54team after you make a trade for a guy like Tyrese Halbern.
- 37:58I mean, that's the advantage the Pacers have right now going in
- 38:01and every single series is they have by far the best, most
- 38:05knowledgeable coach in the NBA and it and throughout the NBA
- 38:09playoffs, really this season and the last couple of seasons.
- 38:12That's why the Pacers went all the way to the Finals last year
- 38:15and had nothing to do with their talent.
- 38:17Because if you look at right now, do you think they were more
- 38:20talent than the Cavaliers, even though the Cavaliers weren't
- 38:22100% healthy? Not a chance in hell.
- 38:24It was not even a chance. And I'm not taking shots at
- 38:27Kenny Atkins. Kenny Atkinson is a great coach,
- 38:30but Kenny Atkinson has never taken a team as a head coach to
- 38:35an Eastern Conference finals. I don't even think he's taking a
- 38:38team to the semi finals ever, even with the Nets.
- 38:41So no, I think he was fired the year one year they did.
- 38:43Yeah, so I I don't think he's ever gone that far as a head
- 38:47coach. He was there for the Golden
- 38:49State Warriors. He did win a championship with
- 38:50the Golden State Warriors, but he was an assistant head coach.
- 38:53So there's a lot of pressure on Kenny Atkinson.
- 38:55I think eventually he'll get over the hump and this team is
- 38:58really, really good. I I just think they're missing
- 39:00something. I the Pacers, they're not a good
- 39:03team, but why couldn't they win a championship?
- 39:05If you look at those Pacers teams, and I know we got to move
- 39:08on. If you look at the Pacer teams
- 39:09that were championship competitive team, who is the
- 39:12best player on that team? Reggie Miller, who is the second
- 39:14best player on the team? Rick Smits.
- 39:17I mean, they didn't have great players.
- 39:19Jalen Rose. I mean, they weren't good there.
- 39:23Jalen Rose was they? They were good on NBA Jam
- 39:25though. Yeah, they were, they were mean.
- 39:28They had the 2 Davis guys. I mean, Antonio, it wasn't
- 39:31Antonio Davis, but they the 2 Davis, they called him brothers,
- 39:34but they weren't brothers. But they had the Davis boys at
- 39:37one time they had Mark Jackson, but they weren't their secondary
- 39:41options offensively were not good.
- 39:44Why were they so good coaching one and the way they played,
- 39:48they were tough and that's what this Pacer team is.
- 39:51They're tough. That's what they are.
- 39:54You know, Miles Turner really has become a really good 3 point
- 39:57shooter for a big and with him being able to play that stretch
- 40:005 for them, it makes them very dynamic offensively with with
- 40:04Halliburton being able to dice everything up.
- 40:06And I I would say that Carlisle out coach Kenny Atkinson this
- 40:10series. Now Kenny did that one gambit
- 40:12where he switched into his own defense, a 2-3 zone, and they
- 40:15stole the game. Carlisle is such a good coach
- 40:18that in a long series, all he has to do is watch the film and
- 40:21he knows exactly what he has to do to adjust and it.
- 40:24And after that, there were no answers left.
- 40:26He had nothing he could do. And Donovan Mitchell was just
- 40:30beside himself after the series. I don't know if you saw his
- 40:33quotes. Yeah, I.
- 40:33Saw what he said to him. He was basically just sitting
- 40:36there in disbelief that this just happened because he thought
- 40:39the season can't be over. Like, how did that just happen?
- 40:42We were great the whole year and they were, they were incredible
- 40:47and they got taken to the woodshed.
- 40:49Maybe they just couldn't stay healthy.
- 40:50And this Pacers team is a lot healthier than they were last
- 40:53year. Matheran's a lot better young
- 40:56player. I, I, he's something that he's
- 40:58going to, when we watch him next series, you're going to be like,
- 41:00that guy's just jumping off the page.
- 41:02I was hoping he'd fall to the Knicks in that draft, but I
- 41:04think he's got taken at 7:00. He's pretty good, man.
- 41:07And I look it, we didn't see Halliburton play this well last
- 41:12year. Halliburton was not playing at
- 41:14this level he's playing at right now.
- 41:17So I am a little concerned. However, I think the Knicks
- 41:21length, if they make it and Boston, even Boston matches up
- 41:25pretty pretty similarly with them.
- 41:27I just don't know if they'd have an answer for Turner with
- 41:30Cornett having to play out there.
- 41:31I don't know how he is playing out that far out.
- 41:33Cornett, I I know he was kind of a liability when the Knicks had
- 41:36him. They.
- 41:37Might have to rotate him. Someone like Xavier Tillman
- 41:39who's a really good defender. He just doesn't score a lot.
- 41:42Yeah, So, you know, they they might have some answers.
- 41:44I think that Boston is going to really struggle, you know, with
- 41:47with either team, with any of the teams they face just because
- 41:50they lost Tatum and that's they're such so part of their
- 41:52identity. But I think the Knicks can
- 41:54handle this Pacers team. I think that Pacers team was way
- 41:57better than what the Cavs were and they just weren't ready.
- 41:59They're young, man. They haven't gotten past this
- 42:01stage. Kenny's first year as a head
- 42:03coach. Give them, give them credit, you
- 42:05know, give them their flowers. But now, next year, it's for
- 42:07real. You got to.
- 42:08You don't know when you're going to get there again and you had a
- 42:11chance to get over the hump. This was it really after Tatum
- 42:14went down. This was their best chance to go
- 42:16all the way to the Finals. And I, I think the Cavaliers, if
- 42:19they get out of that, that Pacer series, maybe that they can't,
- 42:22the Knicks can't keep up with them if the Knicks because, you
- 42:25know, the Cavaliers would have got healthier as as the playoffs
- 42:29started to move along. Maybe Garland.
- 42:31I mean, there's a lot of mismatches for the New York
- 42:33Knicks. This guy that should go there
- 42:35and we talked about him the other day.
- 42:37His name is Giannis. Yeah, there's a Giannis.
- 42:39There are a lot of places Giannis could go.
- 42:42But if you trade, Mobley was defensive player of the year.
- 42:46I I I don't know where. Look, you can say what you will
- 42:48about him, but don't act like he wouldn't be a major, huge piece
- 42:52that would fit in a Giannis trade.
- 42:54No, I, I think, I think it makes a lot of sense.
- 42:57Just like when we could say the Knicks on OK C, there are a lot
- 42:59of teams that are going to be. Interested in the I think that
- 43:01move that they still have the center position taken care of
- 43:05and it's a younger player. Milwaukee would jump all over
- 43:08that and they'd ask for probably a couple of picks.
- 43:10And make a rotational. Player probably a Coro,
- 43:13absolutely. And I don't that's a very doable
- 43:16team and it keeps that nucleus of really good guard play around
- 43:20for them. I think that's we may hear a lot
- 43:23more than whispers about that. There's a lot of teams.
- 43:25You're gonna hear a lot of whispers.
- 43:27It's not just the Knicks, it's not the Cavaliers.
- 43:29You'll might even hear Boston, OKC, the Timberwolves.
- 43:33Everybody's going to be involved.
- 43:34If you hear that Yanis is going to be available to possibly be
- 43:39traded. So trust me, it's not going to
- 43:41be only these teams, it's going to be all 30 teams in the NBA
- 43:45that are going to go after a guy like Giannis who can help your
- 43:48team go right over the hump and win a championship.
- 43:51Don't be surprised if Miami doesn't go after him too.
- 43:54Pat Riley is the type of guy that finds a way to squeeze
- 43:57these players in and bring them to the his organization and his
- 44:01team. Another superstar in Miami
- 44:02wouldn't be surprising. The Timberwolves eliminate the
- 44:05Warriors without Steph Curry by winning Game 5 by the score of
- 44:09121 to 110. Anthony Edwards nearly had a
- 44:12triple double with 22.7 rebounds and 12 assists after having
- 44:16back-to-back 30 point games. Steve Kerr congratulating
- 44:19Anthony Edwards after the game and called him the best player
- 44:22in the series. Yeah, OK.
- 44:24Jimmy Butler had just 17 points and shot just 36%, his lowest
- 44:31total in an elimination game since 2019 against the 76ers.
- 44:36Steph Curry will likely likely going to play was likely to go
- 44:42play game six if the Warriors were to extend the series, but
- 44:46said even he couldn't be Superman to play in game five.
- 44:50He wouldn't have been Superman. The Timberwolves advance to
- 44:53their second straight Western Conference finals after
- 44:56previously only having one in the air in their entire
- 45:00franchise history. I I will say this,
- 45:03congratulations to the Timberwolves from moving on once
- 45:07again to the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 45:08We have to see if Anthony Edwards is going to show up in
- 45:11the important games in the Western Conference finals.
- 45:14I just, again, I, I know Jimmy Buckets is old.
- 45:18I, I don't think Jimmy Buckets was healthy.
- 45:20Jimmy Butler was not healthy in this series and they were
- 45:23fighting really to get through this series without Steph Curry.
- 45:27Steph Curry is an important piece to this puzzle reason why
- 45:31is he draws 2 two players every single time he comes up the
- 45:35court. He is that great of a shooter
- 45:38and when you double team him, you have Jimmy Butler open, you
- 45:41have other players that can hit open shots and it makes the the
- 45:44Golden State Warriors a totally different team.
- 45:46Now Jimmy Butler, we've seen him do this.
- 45:48We've seen him take over games over the years with Miami.
- 45:51This is not the Miami Heat. This is not the same Jimmy
- 45:55Butler that was what he was with the Heat 3-4 years ago.
- 46:00This is an older Jimmy Butler. That doesn't mean that Jimmy
- 46:03Buckets cannot be the player that we've seen him be in the
- 46:07playoffs. He just wasn't in this series.
- 46:09Again, this isn't a younger Timberwolves team.
- 46:12He got Julius Randle playing. Well, I, like I said, John
- 46:15Dante, Diva Chancellor has been super really coming off the
- 46:18bench the way he has, adding that 3 point prowess that he
- 46:22gives them and, and, and really for a guy his size has helped on
- 46:26the offensive side of the boards as well.
- 46:28So they're getting that as far as Steve Kerr is concerned.
- 46:31I don't want to hear it from Steve Kerr.
- 46:33I don't ever want to hear Steve Kerr talk.
- 46:35You know why? Because he's congratulating a
- 46:37guy that he coached with the Olympic team.
- 46:39He was also the guy that had backlash in during the season
- 46:43about what Anthony Edwards stands for and what he has said
- 46:47to the press over the years. He was one of the guys that
- 46:50obviously said what he said about Anthony Edwards words.
- 46:53You know, you go out there and play the game.
- 46:54Don't don't, you know, don't put yourself center stage in front
- 46:58of the press if you don't expect to be smacked around.
- 47:01And and Anthony Edwards had his own thoughts to Steve Kerr.
- 47:03Now all of a sudden he's kissing his ass.
- 47:05That's that's typical Steve Kerr, ladies and gentlemen.
- 47:08And I don't know how long Steve Kerr has left over there with
- 47:12the the Golden State Warriors, because you would think that
- 47:15Steve Kerr has a great career after the, you know, coaching in
- 47:19the NBA. And we've seen guys from the
- 47:21Golden State Warriors. The GM, when the GM realized
- 47:24Myers, I think it was his last name on.
- 47:26Yeah. It was that one football.
- 47:28When he decided, hey, you know what, Mike, this team is getting
- 47:30older. I, I won my championships.
- 47:33I put this team together, Maybe I step down and go work with
- 47:36another sports team outside of basketball.
- 47:40That's what he did. And now he's an analyst for the
- 47:42NBA, for ESPN. And this guy's making more money
- 47:46doing that than sitting behind as an executive and dealing with
- 47:49some of the the rubbish that you have to deal with with guys like
- 47:53you know, they're well, I'm not even going to mention his name
- 47:56as I owe it. You know what?
- 47:57Screw it. You know what I'm talking about
- 47:59Mr. Green himself, who goes out there and throws his team under
- 48:03the bus and, and, and spits out the the garbage that he puts on
- 48:06his podcast. And then you have guys like Klay
- 48:09Thompson over the years that at the tail end of his career over
- 48:12there with the Golden State Warriors wasn't the same player.
- 48:14He wasn't a Splash Brother. He was really a shell of himself
- 48:18after he tore his Achilles after tearing his ACL.
- 48:21So Myers just wanted to step down.
- 48:23He didn't want to deal with that crap on and off the court.
- 48:26So he made the smart move. What do you think Steve Kerr is
- 48:29going to do, guys? What do you think he's going to
- 48:31do? He's going to step down and
- 48:33teams are going to go after him. He's going to say, you know
- 48:35what? I'm just going to do my
- 48:36broadcasting, build a podcast and do what I'm doing over
- 48:40there. I was making a lot of money with
- 48:42TNTI, was making a lot of money on the side on some of the stuff
- 48:45I was doing with Sirius Radio. Why the hell do I need to be a
- 48:48coach anymore? I win multiple championships.
- 48:50I'm going to be considered one of the greatest coaches of this
- 48:53era. And, and you know what?
- 48:54The only reason why is because he coached so many great
- 48:56players. I'm tired of Steve Carr.
- 48:59I don't want to see Steve anymore.
- 49:01He makes me sick. OK, I feel bad about the
- 49:04background and his story with his father.
- 49:06I, I, I feel terrible. But as a person, as a as a head
- 49:10coach, I think he's one of the most overrated coaches in NBA
- 49:14frigging history. He is not a good coach.
- 49:16I'm telling you, look, they bring in Jimmy Butler.
- 49:19They were barely a playoff team. They bring in Jimmy buckets.
- 49:21They squeeze into the playoffs and everybody was like including
- 49:24your surely, Oh, maybe, maybe they can win.
- 49:26And Steve Kerr saying, you know, yeah, we're a good team.
- 49:29Let's just get into the playoffs and see how.
- 49:31And then, you know, as we heard over the last couple of weeks,
- 49:35hey, maybe Steve Kerr believes a really good win.
- 49:37Maybe they can get over the top. Maybe they can beat these young
- 49:40teams. Give me a break, Steve.
- 49:43Stop kissing people's ass asses. I don't want to hear it.
- 49:46Go to the go take the San Antonio Spurs job.
- 49:49Oh, I forgot. Yeah, they already gave the job
- 49:51to somebody else and watch you. So I'm so tired of hearing Steve
- 49:56Kerr speak. I already know what the Edwards
- 49:59is. I already know what the
- 50:01Timberwolves are going to be in the next series.
- 50:04It it really depends on who they match up against.
- 50:06If they match up against the Nuggets guys, the Nuggets were
- 50:10beaten by this Timberwolves team in the semi finals, a team that
- 50:14won the championship the year before.
- 50:16Don't you think the Nuggets have come out with their best?
- 50:18Don't you think the Nuggets are going to do whatever they can to
- 50:21knock off the Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals
- 50:23and embarrass Anthony Edwards? 100% I I just think they match
- 50:27up. Believe it or not, I know
- 50:29everybody's going to think I'm crazy.
- 50:30I think the Timberwolves match up with OK C more than they
- 50:34match up against the Nuggets. So they better pray it's OK C
- 50:38and not the Nuggets. Yeah, the size and size could
- 50:41make it hard with the size of versus the Timberwolves,
- 50:43especially if Julius Randle becomes the defensive liability
- 50:45that we've seen him be with the Knicks at times, too.
- 50:47And again, the Timberwolves, like I was talking about, the
- 50:49Pacers, are going to have the advantage of like the rest
- 50:51potentially because this series with the OKC in Denver looks
- 50:54really ugly right now. The last two games, OKC had the
- 50:56big comeback in Game 5, but they were not shooting the ball very
- 50:59well before that, especially from three.
- 51:00And the Nuggets like do you? Trust the OKC Thunder.
- 51:04I don't. They've been kind of up and down
- 51:06like I think. This Do you trust the OKC
- 51:08Thunder? No.
- 51:11Not at all. I'm just, I'm just Jabba.
- 51:13You trust OKC? I mean, they won 68 games.
- 51:18That doesn't matter. That looks very up and.
- 51:20Down. I'm so regularly.
- 51:21Sending top ten all time. Yeah, spot games again this
- 51:24series and and I mean this series they again they swept
- 51:29they swept the first round fine, but this series they've looked
- 51:31very streaky as a whole. They they survived they survived
- 51:34game one they Game 2 they lost on the buzzer beater game one
- 51:37they lost on the buzzer. I think it mixed up, but they
- 51:39had the 1 blowout and that was it.
- 51:41This game that they had, they had this insane comeback because
- 51:43they finally got Luge Dort to get hot.
- 51:45Like those are so very random, the way these kinds of things
- 51:47happened, like they're not playing sustainable basketball.
- 51:50The Nuggets fired their head coach within a week before the
- 51:53playoffs. They're beating they're they're
- 51:56competing with an OKC Thunder that has the same coach, same
- 51:59team, some same rotation, 100% healthy.
- 52:02There's no excuse to this I they won 6768 games and you can't
- 52:07knock off a Nugget team that fired their coach.
- 52:09Coach have a rookie coach who's never coached in the playoffs
- 52:12before in his career. Give me a break.
- 52:15This is embarrassing. I don't trust OKCI, really
- 52:18don't. And if they're challenged
- 52:20against the Timberwolves, the Timberwolves are going to run
- 52:22all over them. Yeah, a fish.
- 52:23I think that the Thunder kind of remind me of not the early stage
- 52:26with the Celtics with the score, but kind of that second stage
- 52:28where they they lost to the Bucks in five games.
- 52:31They barely survived. I think a Sixers team that had
- 52:32the injuries galore like this is not a team that's had the great
- 52:35adversity despite having the talent.
- 52:37And I think if that's so, if it does go to a Game 7, they can't
- 52:40win tonight. I think the Nuggets are winning
- 52:41the series. I think it's ironic the two one
- 52:43seeds are very similar in that they both really haven't been
- 52:47there and they have a lot of young players.
- 52:48You know, you got Jalen Williams has not played to the level that
- 52:52we saw him play during the regular season for OKC.
- 52:55Chet's physicality is a problem in the playoffs.
- 52:58We're seeing that right now for OKC and Shy has been fantastic.
- 53:03He's great and he's he's helping them go and they're moving the
- 53:06ball because he's so good. But Yokich is so.
- 53:09So. Good.
- 53:10And I still can't believe they're going to give Shy the
- 53:12MVP over Yokich because Yokich is that entire team.
- 53:16It is absolutely crazy how he they don't need to have a coach.
- 53:20Errol, he's the coach on the floor.
- 53:22He's directing the offense. It's like great, like you said
- 53:24it the other day, Gretzky at the late stage, his career operating
- 53:28from behind the net. I'm just going to find somebody
- 53:30that's going to be the right decision every single time.
- 53:32And if it's not there, I'll take the shot and I'll make it too.
- 53:34Did you see when they went to the sideline, like Jokic was
- 53:37actually standing, like where the coach was like pointing and
- 53:40like basically just in? He's the coach.
- 53:42Hosting the huddle himself. But you also got to remember
- 53:45too, when after their first series, when Jokic was like
- 53:48giving credit to the coach, but it's like he's giving credit to
- 53:51himself. And so they lose this game.
- 53:53I'm going to show you highlight Jabba.
- 53:55Look at this Jogic is a bad pass late in the shot clock.
- 53:58Chet on him, 7 foot tall. Just a turn around.
- 54:01Look at this. Yeah, Swish what that's that
- 54:05shouldn't be possible so easily and look at the bench reaction
- 54:09like that should exactly that should not be possible.
- 54:12And it's not like homegrown short.
- 54:15Or a bad defender. No, you know, as he's actually a
- 54:18pretty good perimeter defender for a big man because he's so,
- 54:21you know, lanky and mobile and doesn't matter.
- 54:24There's no way to stop Jokic when he's playing this way.
- 54:27And I think Jokic is going to find a way tonight, and I think
- 54:29they're going to find a way to probably win this series.
- 54:31Yeah, they just, they show the average in the playoffs.
- 54:34He's averaging 30 and Shy's average in 28.
- 54:37Yeah, I think it's pretty clear who's better when you see them
- 54:40head to head, and that's why I really was excited to see this.
- 54:43Even if Denver loses, I think Jokic acquitted himself in that
- 54:47argument pretty well. I think it's going to be very
- 54:50interesting to see what happens if this does go to a game seven.
- 54:54I expect, I expect Jokic to take this to a Game 7 tonight and it
- 54:59this is going to be a fun final Game 7 because I think this is
- 55:04really this was the series I wanted to see go all the way to
- 55:07game seven. I didn't want to see the Knicks.
- 55:09I. Think we all had it going.
- 55:10Game 7 didn't. We, we did, we did.
- 55:11And I think I don't trust OKC in a whole, in a wall, as we all
- 55:16know. Bagel Hole.
- 55:17The bagel hole is definitely going to be split in many
- 55:21different ways, speedy if this happens and it goes to a game
- 55:24set. Thank you obviously, to all the
- 55:25fans on all our social medias, from Twitter to Instagram or X,
- 55:30whatever the hell you call it, TikTok and Spotify, Spotify
- 55:33video, you know, Apple podcast, YouTube.
- 55:37We really appreciate you guys for for all the support that you
- 55:40guys give us throughout the week and and and checking out our
- 55:44stuff. We really do appreciate it.
- 55:46Check out one O 3.9 the weekend crunch every single Saturdays at
- 55:507:00 PM. Again, we have a great show.
- 55:52It's been on for almost five years now and it's kicking ass
- 55:55all over Long Island. So thank you to all the fans
- 55:58that TuneIn and check out and go to our website,
- 56:00www.worldwidesportsradio.com. Do we have anything on Monday?
- 56:05Not yet. Speedy, take your hands out of
- 56:08your pants. Speedy's mom.
- 56:12And make sure that you call your mom.
- 56:13We want to get her on the show. What do you think?
- 56:14Not happening. What?
- 56:16She's a great. Not happening.
- 56:17She's a great guest. I mean, I'll have Jabba
- 56:20interview her. I'll.
- 56:22I'll stay away. OK.
- 56:23So maybe Jabba will, you know, do some interesting things.
- 56:27You just made my nipples hard. As long as she's using dude
- 56:30wipes and taking care of my 2 hole I'm good.
- 56:32So she'll be, you know, taking care of her 2 hole.
- 56:35What do you think? Not happening.
- 56:36Pulled it out of my ass. All right, that's it for our
- 56:40show. We will be back on Monday with
- 56:43new guests and new content. Enjoy Friday's game.
- 56:47Hopefully the Knicks end the suffering of the Celtics and
- 56:51suffering for us as fans. I don't want to see them go to a
- 56:54Game 7 and I watch out. Pacers, OK, watch them out
- 56:59anyways, and the Nuggets 3/3 as we expected, it's going 7, so
- 57:04we'll see what happens over the weekend.
- 57:06That would be Saturday for the Nuggets and the OKC Thunder.
- 57:10So. So there's two more series left,
- 57:15one of them that's three to two and the other one's three to
- 57:17three. So we'll see what happens over
- 57:18the weekend. That's it.
- 57:20Good night. So long farewell.
- 57:22They'll come. A day of life, as we all know.
- 57:26Speedy goodbye. Yum Yum.
- 57:33I need a genuine tonic.
