- 0:00Speaker 1: Time for stacks and hacks i have stacks of information
- 0:03Speaker 1: to share with you and rich has life hacks gen
- 0:06Speaker 1: z job hunters are getting help from their parents with
- 0:10Speaker 1: everything from resumes and networking to interview prep which can
- 0:13Speaker 1: be helpful right up until the time your mom starts
- 0:15Speaker 1: talking to the employer.
- 0:16Speaker 2: For you yeah i don't want to do that yeah no.
- 0:19Speaker 1: A 45-year-old candidate for lieutenant governor in Iowa is being
- 0:23Speaker 1: sued by his own parents for unpaid rent. They say
- 0:26Speaker 1: he owes them $ 275, 000.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Good Lord. How many years has he not been paying
- 0:32Speaker 2: them back rent?
- 0:33Speaker 3: That's crazy, right? But obviously, his parents don't want him
- 0:35Speaker 3: to run for office or something.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Tacoma, Washington set up those speed cameras, and they caught
- 0:40Speaker 1: over 400,000 speeders in the first month.
- 0:44Speaker 3: That's a lot of tickets.
- 0:45Speaker 2: A lot of speeders.
- 0:47Speaker 3: The city says they don't have the ability to cite
- 0:49Speaker 3: that many people.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Oh, so they're just throwing that money right down the drain.
- 0:53Speaker 3: This falls under the category of food news, kind of.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And I think this is kind of big news, but
- 0:57Speaker 1: Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC, officially dumped Pepsi last week and
- 1:01Speaker 1: switched to Coke.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:02Speaker 3: I think that's a big deal.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I thought Pepsi owned KFC.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Taco Bell, by the way, is sticking with Pepsi.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So your Mountain Dew Baja Blast is safe. I think
- 1:10Speaker 3: they're all owned by the same people.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Speaking of Taco Bell.
- 1:12Speaker 4: No, that's actually such a bummer, though, what, Rich, about
- 1:14Speaker 4: Taco Bell?
- 1:15Speaker 2: My kid Christopher just got hired at Taco Bell, his
- 1:17Speaker 2: first gig. Oh, he needs to bring in Taco Bell.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Congrats, Steve.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Easy.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Domino's just announced that they're launching six collectible Minecraft-themed pizza
- 1:27Speaker 1: boxes to pair with their new square pizza option.
- 1:30Speaker 3: That's good.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I brought this up yesterday briefly, but the Ford Maverick,
- 1:35Speaker 1: Ford Maverick owners are reporting that their cars are starting
- 1:38Speaker 1: randomly without a driver's inside. My friend Chris has one
- 1:42Speaker 1: of those, and he says, yes, it happens to him
- 1:43Speaker 1: quite a bit.
- 1:44Speaker 2: That is scary.
- 1:45Speaker 3: That is very terrifying. It's on.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's dangerous if that's in a garage. That's real dangerous.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Do you remember they hit, the 1980s hit Mickey?
- 1:56Speaker 2: Of course. Tony Basil. Oh, Mickey, you're so fine.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You're so fine.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You blow my mind.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Hey, Mickey.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Hey, Mickey.
- 2:03Speaker 3: She was dressed as a high school cheerleader in the video.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: She's 83 now. Oh, my God.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I was going to say, I feel like the only
- 2:11Speaker 4: reason I know that song is because it's like in
- 2:13Speaker 4: all the bring it ons.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 4: So that's crazy.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I didn't know it was the music video.
- 2:17Speaker 3: She's 83.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You just totally blew my mind right there.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I know.
- 2:20Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Wow. The guy who invented the Keurig K-Cup coffee system
- 2:26Speaker 1: sold his stake in the company for $ 50, 000 in 1997.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Now, we talked about this recently on one of our
- 2:33Speaker 1: podcasts about how plastic is all in these things and
- 2:36Speaker 1: how unhealthy they are for you. He says he regrets
- 2:38Speaker 1: inventing it in the first place because those little cups
- 2:41Speaker 1: are terrible for the environment and the machines are way
- 2:44Speaker 1: too expensive and it's filling everybody with microplastics.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I thought he was going to regret selling it for
- 2:49Speaker 2: only $ 50, 000 because it's probably worth way more now.
- 2:52Speaker 3: In pet news, this is interesting for pets.
- 2:54Speaker 1: A two-year-old cat named Rolo just got an emergency blood
- 2:57Speaker 1: transfusion from an unusual donor. It was a four-year-old cocker spaniel.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Rolo was critically ill. There was no feline blood available,
- 3:05Speaker 1: so the veterinarian used some blood from her own dog
- 3:08Speaker 1: as a one-time emergency treatment.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And it worked. Oh, my gosh. I would think that
- 3:12Speaker 3: wouldn't work, but it worked.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I saw a fun article on some artists that are everywhere.
- 3:18Speaker 1: There's a time where you see these artists everywhere, and
- 3:20Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, they're gone. It's a list
- 3:22Speaker 1: of artists that are just gone, and it's pretty... When
- 3:26Speaker 1: I bring it up to you, you're going.
- 3:27Speaker 3: To go, oh, yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Like Owl City?
- 3:29Speaker 2: That's a great one. What happened to Owl City?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Well, I don't remember seeing Owl City, but I just
- 3:35Speaker 1: remember the song everywhere. But like, for example, Fergie. Fergie
- 3:38Speaker 1: exploded when she joined Black Eyed Peas. She had a
- 3:40Speaker 1: nice solo career after that. She released her last album
- 3:43Speaker 1: in 2017 and then stepped back to raise her son
- 3:45Speaker 1: Axl and focus on investments.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You don't really see Fergie anywhere ever again.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I don't think that like the national anthem thing did
- 3:51Speaker 4: anything good for her.
- 3:52Speaker 2: That's because that's what you see the most.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You don't see Boom Boom Pow as much as you
- 3:56Speaker 2: do the national anthem.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Iggy Azalea.
- 3:58Speaker 1: She sold her music catalog in 2022 to concentrate on
- 4:00Speaker 1: business ventures. She said, quote, I feel more passionately about
- 4:03Speaker 1: design and creative direction than I do about songwriting.
- 4:05Speaker 4: That be the act, Iggy.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Although she recently announced she's.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Got new music, but she also was everywhere.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Well, yeah, but she was like dating Playboi Carti, and
- 4:15Speaker 4: then there was a whole Swaggy P thing, and then
- 4:17Speaker 4: I got ice in my veins, it was a whole thing.
- 4:19Speaker 3: What about Psy? Dang him, Psy.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Everywhere. But we needed him to come.
- 4:25Speaker 3: He was never able to replicate that success. He's still
- 4:27Speaker 3: releasing music and running his own label in South Korea.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Do you remember our big controversy with him?
- 4:31Speaker 3: I do remember that. What was that?
- 4:33Speaker 2: We did an interview with him, and we did the
- 4:35Speaker 2: wrap it up thing with him. It was pretty funny.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But we would go, wrap it up, wrap it up.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And they told us not to air it.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And he thought it was terrible. He didn't like it,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and he told us never to air it.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Vitamin C had a smash in 1999 with Graduation.
- 4:45Speaker 1: After kicking around a few more years, she went behind
- 4:47Speaker 1: the scenes working as a music executive for Nickelodeon.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Now she works for Netflix.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 4:51Speaker 3: And this is a big one. Go T.A.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He had a number one hit with Somebody I Used
- 5:01Speaker 1: to Know in 2011 and swept the Grammys in 2013,
- 5:05Speaker 1: then nothing.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 3: In 2017, he said, quote, I'm not interested in selling
- 5:09Speaker 3: my music.
- 5:10Speaker 4: And honestly, though, what's crazy is I am shocked that
- 5:13Speaker 4: Dochi's Anxiety, that they didn't do like a remix or
- 5:18Speaker 4: like something like that. Because Anxiety, I mean, you listen
- 5:21Speaker 4: to that and you think it's Somebody I Used to Know.
- 5:23Speaker 3: It sounds like he's over it, just the whole music
- 5:25Speaker 3: industry in general. He wants to be someone we don't
- 5:27Speaker 3: know anymore.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Rich, what do you got for life hacks?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Okay, so when you light your jack-o'-lantern on fire on
- 5:33Speaker 2: Halloween night, here's something that's kind of fun, a little
- 5:36Speaker 2: life hack. Sprinkle some cinnamon or pumpkin spice spice on
- 5:40Speaker 2: the inside of your carved pumpkin. Then when you either
- 5:44Speaker 2: use a battery-powered candle or a real candle... It heats
- 5:47Speaker 2: it up a little bit, and your porch is going
- 5:49Speaker 2: to smell fantastic. So instead of that kind of gross
- 5:52Speaker 2: pumpkin smell that, you know, we all know very much
- 5:55Speaker 2: because our pumpkins are probably a few weeks old, it's
- 5:57Speaker 2: going to smell like pie on your patio.
- 6:00Speaker 3: That smells good.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Kind of nice, huh? That life hack and many more
- 6:02Speaker 2: can be found at johnjanerich.com.
