Jackie the Eagle’s Legacy Lives On | Venice Beach News
A beloved bald eagle named Jackie, the first ever born in Big Bear Lake and a star of the live cam, passed away at 14 after a brave battle with illness and injuries from a fight with younger eagles. She and her mate Shadow raised generations of chicks, including her last two, Luna and Sandy, while inspiring fans from all over — even school kids. Her death marks the end of an era, but also a reminder of the incredible comeback of bald eagles across America, now numbering over 300,000.
