- 0:00All right. Chris Dale has joined us here for the daily recap after Yukon's
- 0:03ninety five sixty four win over Markutt. By the way, the sixty four
- 0:06points for the Golden Eagles matches a season low. What a performance, complete
- 0:10team performance today other than the ten nothing yeah, other than going down ten
- 0:16nothing yeah, that was that was. That came quick though. But then
- 0:19you got your sea legs and off your win. Well. I think they
- 0:23banked in a three and e Liza carline right, And then I thought Page
- 0:28passed up the first shot of the game and we end up getting a turnover
- 0:31on that instead, which you know she needs to make. She needs to
- 0:36take shots when she's open and not you know, start the game like that.
- 0:40But you know you can't. So many people did so many great things.
- 0:44I mean, I thought of Leah really rebounded the ball well outside her
- 0:47area, finished around the rim. You know, Page was Paige knocking in
- 0:53shots. I thought Nica played great. Nica had ten rebounds, and you
- 0:58know, maybe if we missed would have finished a couple of layups. Maybe
- 1:00she gets a double double with assistant rebounds. But I thought she played well.
- 1:04I thought Aubrey came off the bench and gave us a big lift.
- 1:08You know, kk, you know she she gives us a dimension. She
- 1:12can defend really hard and then get into the rim. And just a lot
- 1:17of good things by everybody. I would say you mentioning that the rotation tube,
- 1:22because such a fast paced game, you didn't skip the beat. Whoever
- 1:26was on the floor. That energy seemed to stay elevated again once. I
- 1:30think we took it deep bread after that ten nothing, I know, I
- 1:34just saw it ninety five sixty four. I said it was twenty nine.
- 1:38It's thirty one game was I read it off this ship go to the media,
- 1:46Happy New Year, Happy New Year. He just you know what he's
- 1:49I don't want to say anything, but he's being a typical man. He
- 1:52has to be correct, regardless that, regardless added the number of times he
- 1:57was incorrect, always correct. So he'll go out. We'll let him have
- 2:01that on the way out of twenty twenty three houses. I'm not gonna say
- 2:06that having been married thirty two years. By the way, rebounding today was
- 2:10phenomenal season sixteen offensive rebounds. But the number that stands out, I mean,
- 2:15Debbie mentioned this, I really, you know, I write down the
- 2:16highlights of the little log here. Debbie mentioned nineteen second chance points in the
- 2:21first ten minutes. I'm going that can't be right, and looking at the
- 2:23screen, it's like, holy crow. Yeah, thatsive. And what I
- 2:28think is more impressive is doing it against Marquette, because Marquette is very physical,
- 2:32they're very aggressive, and they're a really good rebounding team. And for
- 2:36us to kind of turn the tide and do to them what they've done to
- 2:39people and what they did to us last year at their place, I think
- 2:44we felt pretty good about that. I thought we handled their physicality. I
- 2:46thought we were physical and obviously we were in terms of rebounding the basketball.
- 2:52So really happy with that aspect. And I think Aubrey gave us a bunch
- 2:58of those when she went in the first half right just to start get us
- 3:00from And that's what you talked about, you said, Aliah like her the
- 3:06rebounding. It didn't have to be right there. She could be outside the
- 3:08threa. She just zoned in and went wherever the ball was going on fun
- 3:12to see her. Yeah, that's important if you're a big guy being you
- 3:15know, getting rebounds that come to you. That's not that difficult. I
- 3:19shouldn't say that it is difficult, not that difficult, but going out of
- 3:22your area to go get the ball, I think says a lot. And
- 3:25I think she's growing in that area and really did a tremendous job. You
- 3:29know, one of the things I asked you know about in the pregame show,
- 3:31because you know, Debbie's mentioned this at nausea and I know the coaching
- 3:34staff knows this. Going under screens versus above screens on three pointers. You
- 3:38guys ran Mackenzie here off the line a lot today, well, and I
- 3:42think you have to make decisions on that. We make it, you know,
- 3:44game by game, personnel wise, and sometimes you know, somebody that
- 3:50doesn't necessarily doesn't necessarily get their shot off behind screens, you might give them
- 3:53the first one and then you make your adjustments. But with her, that's,
- 3:58you know, her thing, and she I thought we did a good
- 4:00job for the most part. I think there were a couple that we didn't
- 4:03get over. But for the most part, I think we made their shooters
- 4:08have to work to get their looks so and we did a good job.
- 4:11I mean, when we start a smaller lineup, we have to get more
- 4:15help in the lane. And although Page still insists she's now a power forward,
- 4:19you posted her up to it. She scored that way so well.
- 4:24She likes her blocks. She had after one game that I think it was
- 4:29the North Carolina game. Apparently she told the media that she came down with
- 4:33me and the post end, and you know that helped her as a Page.
- 4:40It was less than four minutes, and you asked to leave early and
- 4:42I said no, So it's not like it's not like she's been down there
- 4:46for days, Like four minutes. You have your work magic coach. But
- 4:50I think even with that, so our lineup, we have some disadvantages with
- 4:56it, but then you know we have to try to make those into advantages
- 4:59on the other end and where we have their big guarding our guard. So
- 5:02you know, it creates issues down this end, and we have to continue
- 5:04to work to work as one group to be able to protect that as best
- 5:09we can. But then we have to try to take advantage of it on
- 5:11the offensive end, whether it's pushing the ball in transition, you know,
- 5:14having Paige be try to get you know, get her shots from different areas
- 5:19on the floor, not just with the ball in the hand, not just
- 5:21a ball screen, just a lot of different ways, and so we have
- 5:26to try to you know, that's a work in progress. So work was
- 5:29actually matched up against Kaplan too, Like yeah, rotation, which I thought
- 5:32we we did some switching, we did, we did a bit. We
- 5:35did a good job in the rotation. Yeah, we have to really just
- 5:38keep mixing it up. We can't let them get comfortable and we almost can't
- 5:43be comfortable with it. We have to, you know, be really aggressive
- 5:46and try to keep them off kilter so that they can't take advantage and put
- 5:49it take pick us apart on the inside. I think it's way back when
- 5:54I played, but I remember coaching you always said about it. It's not
- 5:58you can't have a light switch. You can't just say I'm going to bring
- 6:00energy like on and off. The energy it has to always be up.
- 6:01Well, they seem to really elevate that energy level when it just everything propelled
- 6:06them a little bit higher today or no, I don't know about that,
- 6:12but you know it is true. I think everybody has to bring energy.
- 6:15And you know, the most consistent person on our team with energy is Nika.
- 6:21And I know a lot of people have a lot to say about her
- 6:25on social media and they should just back off, in my opinion, because
- 6:28there's nobody that does as much for us as Nika does. And I thought
- 6:31today, you know, it's not how many threes she makes, maybe it's
- 6:36when she makes them when we need them, you know, that kind of
- 6:40that situation, running our offense, rebounding, being more physical. So she's
- 6:45doing. Is she where she wants to be or no? Is she where
- 6:47she's going to be by the end of the season. No, But you
- 6:51know, I feel like she especially today, I thought she did a lot
- 6:56of really good things that helped our team, but brings the energy every day
- 7:00and that can be draining when when you're the one and maybe sometimes the only
- 7:03one that brings up. So you know, I give her a lot of
- 7:08credit because she's as consistent with that as anybody. See you on Wednesday,
- 7:12all right, that'd be a good one. Happy New Year, Happy New
- 7:15Year, Happy twenty twenty four to ever. Thanks for coming out. It
- 7:16was a great crowd. And I guess our next weekend game is sold out
- 7:20as well, so we're looudy forward to it. Yeah, we're looking forward
- 7:23to it. My grandson will be here for that one, all right.
- 7:26Make sure he brings the energy all right. Thank you, Thanks Chris, thank you
