  God's word in your life. So, let's

  huddle up and hear today's play. It

  comes from First John 1. This is the
• 0:13
  message we have heard from him and
• 0:14
  declare to you, God is light. In him,
• 0:16
  there is no darkness at all. If we walk
• 0:19
  in the light as he is in the light, we
• 0:21
  have fellowship with one another. And
• 0:23
  the blood of Jesus purifies us from all
• 0:25
  sin. If we confess our sins, he is
• 0:27
  faithful and just and will forgive our
• 0:29
  sins and purify us from all
• 0:31
  unrighteousness.
• 0:33
  Men, we all wrestle with two lies that
• 0:35
  keep us weak, distracted, and
• 0:37
  spiritually powerless. Lie number one is
• 0:40
  that God is like me. We shrink down God
• 0:43
  to our size. We assume he excuses what
• 0:46
  we excuse. But God says there's no
• 0:48
  darkness in him. None. When we lower
• 0:51
  God, we lower the standard. And when we
• 0:53
  lower the standard, we lower our lives.

  That lie produces arrogance, laziness,
• 0:58
  compromise, and excuses. Lie number two,
• 1:02
  I'm not really a sinner. We compare
• 1:04
  ourselves to other men instead of to
• 1:06
  Christ. But John says, if we claim to be
• 1:08
  without sin, we deceive ourselves.
• 1:11
  Denying sin isn't maturity, it's
• 1:13
  blindness. Jesus, the only sinless man,
• 1:16
  humbled himself, became a servant, and
• 1:18
  died for us. A man who thinks he's
• 1:21
  basically good doesn't yet understand
• 1:23
  the holiness of God or the cost of the
• 1:26
  cross. So what does the real disciple
• 1:28
  do? He comes into the light. He stops
• 1:31
  pretending. He confesses his sin. He
• 1:33
  seeks cleansing. He walks in obedience.
• 1:36
  He surrounds himself with men who are
• 1:39
  pursuing the same holy God. That's where
• 1:41
  freedom's found. That's where joy is
• 1:43
  found. And that's where fellowship is
• 1:45
  really found. So run today's play, men.

  Confess. Repent. Obey. Walk in the light
• 1:51
  today. Name the sin. Bring it to the
• 1:54
  Lord. Step out of the shadows. Because
• 1:56
  the man who walks in the light is the
• 1:58
  man who knows God and knows the power of
• 2:00
