- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the Best of Stugatz & Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Jeff Bassin going to join us in hour number two.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Get us ready for the World Series. The World Series
- 0:24Speaker 1: starts tonight, is he?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Really? Baseball? Yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:28Speaker 3: The World Series. Taylor, are you into the World Series?
- 0:32Speaker 3: You are into the World Series.
- 0:33Speaker 4: I love baseball.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I know you do. Yes. But do you love the
- 0:37Speaker 3: Rays and the Brewers enough to watch them?
- 0:39Speaker 4: Yeah. Two best teams in baseball. If you can't get
- 0:42Speaker 4: excited about the two best teams in baseball, check your pulse.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's a Heat game on tonight.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Wow.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Big game.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Knicks play two.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Yes, a big game two at Stugatz Loves.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yes, a game two of the season. Not nearly as
- 0:55Speaker 3: big as game two of a best of seven. Right.
- 0:58Speaker 1: But a big game nonetheless. Taylor is very down on
- 1:00Speaker 1: your Miami Heat. We'll get to the NFL game in
- 1:03Speaker 1: just a second.
- 1:04Speaker 3: We can just stay there, yeah.
- 1:05Speaker 4: So, Izzy, what I'm now realizing is I basically just
- 1:08Speaker 4: committed myself to watching the World Series game tonight, but
- 1:12Speaker 4: I forgot that the Knicks are playing the Celtics, and
- 1:14Speaker 4: that's going to get priority over. So I'll catch the
- 1:17Speaker 4: World Series when I catch the World Series.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Speaking of things you were supposed to watch, last night
- 1:21Speaker 3: did you watch Die Hard?
- 1:22Speaker 4: No, I told you it was an NFL Thursday. And
- 1:24Speaker 4: then today I have the NBA games. Tomorrow's college football,
- 1:28Speaker 4: NFL on Sunday, Monday night football.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But you're down on the heat. You said the heat
- 1:32Speaker 1: aren't very good. You said Giannis has passed his prime.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I didn't say Giannis was past his prime. He's putting
- 1:37Speaker 4: words into my mouth now.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Is he?
- 1:38Speaker 4: What I said was the entire offseason, everybody, when they
- 1:43Speaker 4: were talking about negatives for this heat team, mentioned Giannis. hey,
- 1:46Speaker 4: the Heat don't really have enough shooting around Giannis. And
- 1:50Speaker 4: there's a difference between having great shooters and bringing guys
- 1:54Speaker 4: in that just had good shooting percentages. And then I
- 1:57Speaker 4: think game one was a victory for the media that said, hey,
- 2:01Speaker 4: Heat might not have enough shooting around Giannis.
- 2:03Speaker 5: I think what game one was just a victory of
- 2:06Speaker 5: for the Heat haters was just The roster development or
- 2:11Speaker 5: the roster creation, like I get what people are saying,
- 2:14Speaker 5: like it's not perfect. Yes, you do have some shooters
- 2:16Speaker 5: and at times when they're open and Giannis is distributing,
- 2:20Speaker 5: they're going to hit some shots. But it was it
- 2:23Speaker 5: felt like it was all Giannis creating shots in the preseason.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And so you get. To the regular season game one,
- 2:30Speaker 3: obviously Giannis is looking for his own. He's hitting very efficiently.
- 2:34Speaker 5: He's hitting from the field, but nobody else is creating
- 2:36Speaker 5: shots for anybody else. Like when when when Bam had
- 2:39Speaker 5: his few moments, it was just like, oh, Bam creating
- 2:41Speaker 5: for himself. And then there was a couple of times
- 2:43Speaker 5: where the offense stalled. Then it's like everybody's just looking
- 2:46Speaker 5: at Davion. You're going to do something because we're all
- 2:48Speaker 5: just standing around waiting for somebody to kick us, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 5: kick us at an open shot.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And so I can.
- 2:53Speaker 5: See where some of the criticism was, but it's not
- 2:56Speaker 5: as simple as you said.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Oh, they just don't have shooters. Yeah, they have some shooters.
- 3:00Speaker 3: They don't have enough shot creators.
- 3:01Speaker 5: I think they need to probably have a little bit
- 3:03Speaker 5: more of a youthfulness to them that they didn't really have.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You really show in game one.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Maybe that means the rookie, you know, second round pick
- 3:10Speaker 5: gets some minutes or whatever. But yeah, I can see
- 3:13Speaker 5: where people are saying this isn't a championship team. It's
- 3:16Speaker 5: just a nice team around Giannis.
- 3:17Speaker 1: My takeaway from that game is the Timberwolves are a
- 3:20Speaker 1: championship team.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Like, that team looked really, really good. I mean, I
- 3:24Speaker 3: know it's one game in, but they're supposed to be good.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They've been to the conference finals a couple of times,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and people question whether or not Anthony Edwards.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Could play alongside Lomelo Ball, and at least for a
- 3:33Speaker 3: night they did.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Listen— If that dude, and I mean Anthony Edwards, if
- 3:36Speaker 5: that dude is going to shoot like that from distance
- 3:39Speaker 5: with people in his face half the time, it's over
- 3:42Speaker 5: for everybody.
- 3:43Speaker 3: That's Steph Curry without a good offense around him. That's just,
- 3:47Speaker 3: I'll just.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Take my guy, pull up for three, boom, I'm going
- 3:49Speaker 5: to hit more than half of them. Yeah, if that's
- 3:52Speaker 5: going to be the case all the time, it's going
- 3:53Speaker 5: to be a nightmare. But, you know, LaMelo's going to
- 3:56Speaker 5: miss some. The thing that I just got from that
- 3:58Speaker 5: game was, Man, that ridiculous non-travel call on LaMelo Ball
- 4:03Speaker 5: that the league eventually said, yeah, no, that was a travel.
- 4:06Speaker 5: It wasn't just that it was a travel. It was
- 4:08Speaker 5: just that LaMelo was defending himself after the game. He's like, oh, no,
- 4:12Speaker 5: the ball is floating in my hand. Dude, your hand
- 4:16Speaker 5: is under the ball.
- 4:17Speaker 3: That's where your gas is. Like, you are not a magician.
- 4:20Speaker 3: The ball is not floating above your hand as you
- 4:23Speaker 3: have your hand under it.
- 4:24Speaker 5: That we're going to have to get under control because
- 4:26Speaker 5: his travels are a little crazy.
- 4:28Speaker 3: That's classic Lomelo right there. Anyway, what do you got, Taylor?
- 4:30Speaker 4: Izzy, what do you think is fair in terms of
- 4:32Speaker 4: the criticism after one game of bam out of bio
- 4:35Speaker 4: where people have come out like Kendrick Perkins saying that
- 4:39Speaker 4: he has to be more aggressive. You know what Giannis
- 4:42Speaker 4: is bringing to the table. Giannis is a top 10
- 4:45Speaker 4: player in the NBA when he's healthy. Somebody like Gilbert
- 4:48Speaker 4: Arenas is saying that Bam Adebayo, like we saw Bam
- 4:53Speaker 4: Adebayo score 83. There's no real excuse for Bam Adebayo
- 4:57Speaker 4: to have nights where he looks as passive as he
- 4:59Speaker 4: looks some nights.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, after game one, no, it's not a
- 5:03Speaker 3: fair criticism. It's one game.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It's not like they've played multiple full games together in
- 5:08Speaker 5: the preseason with everybody. The thing, yeah, that sort of
- 5:13Speaker 5: lends itself to what I was saying before. It was
- 5:14Speaker 5: just like, This needs— if they're going to be this high-paced team,
- 5:17Speaker 5: it can't be reliant necessarily on the shot creators. Like,
- 5:21Speaker 5: they either have to move the ball quickly, just get
- 5:22Speaker 5: up and down quickly, whatever, because they don't have the
- 5:25Speaker 5: shot creators necessarily. Where I have a problem with the
- 5:29Speaker 5: Heat is I don't—and this is my— maybe it's an Eric
- 5:31Speaker 5: Spolster thing. And, I mean, it's got to be an
- 5:34Speaker 5: Eric Spolster thing. He's the one who dictates how they play.
- 5:36Speaker 5: But I just don't think the personnel matches the style
- 5:39Speaker 5: of play that they're trying, right?
- 5:41Speaker 3: You've got old Clay. You've got an older Tim Hardaway.
- 5:44Speaker 5: You've got— even an older Giannis, and if they're going
- 5:47Speaker 5: to play this fast, you can't be that good of
- 5:50Speaker 5: a defensive team.
- 5:51Speaker 3: You can't be that gritty lockdown.
- 5:53Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, you can be that late in games
- 5:57Speaker 5: and close games, and it's just like, okay, nobody's going
- 5:59Speaker 5: to score on us late in the game, but that's
- 6:00Speaker 5: when everything slows down. I think they need to slow down.
- 6:04Speaker 5: I think, yes, you grab a rebound, Giannis, go see
- 6:06Speaker 5: if you can get something easy. If he can't get
- 6:08Speaker 5: something easy, slow the pace down. Because if you're going
- 6:11Speaker 5: to try to keep up with these other teams without
- 6:13Speaker 5: the creation, without the shooting necessarily from your stars, your
- 6:17Speaker 5: two main guys, it's just not going to work for you.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I've had the pleasure here of getting to know Dan
- 6:21Speaker 1: Patrick over the years.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And I don't say that to name drop. I just
- 6:24Speaker 3: say that to tell you this story. One of the most.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Valuable lessons he taught me, and it's an underrated skill,
- 6:32Speaker 1: is simply to listen.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Listen. When you're doing a show, listen to what the
- 6:37Speaker 3: other person is saying.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And Taylor was not listening when he brought up Kendrick
- 6:41Speaker 1: Perkins and you spat back at him.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I don't care what he has to say.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I heard him say that, yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Well, you should have stopped and asked him why.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Well, one, I don't love his opinions. And two, yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 5: he left me hanging on something that he was supposed
- 6:55Speaker 5: to do for me.
- 6:56Speaker 3: A while back. And I'm just like, yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 5: He told me over and over again via text that
- 7:00Speaker 5: you were going to do it. And then when time comes,
- 7:01Speaker 5: you didn't do it.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So if you had to pie chart that as the
- 7:05Speaker 1: reason he said, I don't care what Kendrick Perkins has
- 7:07Speaker 1: to say.
- 7:07Speaker 3: 80%. 80% to the thing he didn't do for you.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I was going to put it higher. No, the other 20%
- 7:13Speaker 3: is his takes. What were your thoughts? We had a
- 7:17Speaker 3: great NFL game last night. Good matchup. Bears and Patriots.
- 7:21Speaker 3: What were your thoughts? Did you watch the game? I
- 7:23Speaker 3: watched a good amount of it. First of all, I
- 7:26Speaker 3: thought it was a great Thursday night game. It's very
- 7:28Speaker 3: rare that you get the matchup going in and it
- 7:30Speaker 3: ended up being a.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Pretty good game. I'd say I watched about 80% of it.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I think Caleb Williams is... to me the currently the
- 7:38Speaker 5: number one draw in the nfl yes like i think
- 7:40Speaker 5: he's that much fun to watch he's that good to
- 7:42Speaker 5: watch uh only because he's on the screen right now
- 7:44Speaker 5: am i going to mention this your boy herbie had
- 7:46Speaker 5: a hiccup there where he uh called him a bucking
- 7:48Speaker 5: bronco that needed to be tamed it's just like watch
- 7:50Speaker 5: your language man you got to be careful what you're
- 7:52Speaker 5: saying um will you leave herbie alone i will i
- 7:55Speaker 5: will not i will not um and no i think
- 8:00Speaker 5: i think it's great i think he's great i think
- 8:01Speaker 5: that team's great i would love to see them you
- 8:03Speaker 5: know march their way onto a super bowl um What
- 8:06Speaker 5: do you guys.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Have you guys talked at all about A.J. Brown?
- 8:09Speaker 5: Because I was saying last year that dude is never
- 8:12Speaker 5: really open. Like he only kind of runs these comeback
- 8:15Speaker 5: routes and that's where he's, you know, open because he's
- 8:17Speaker 5: just using his body, kind of getting off the defender,
- 8:19Speaker 5: et cetera.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But he looks like a combination of washed and bored.
- 8:25Speaker 5: And, you know, there was a couple of plays. There
- 8:27Speaker 5: was that one deep ball, the other. And it looked
- 8:29Speaker 5: like he really wasn't. And I get, you know, people
- 8:32Speaker 5: are going to say maybe it was past interference because
- 8:34Speaker 5: the defensive player had his hand. basically in the cookie jar,
- 8:37Speaker 5: like basically in between both of A.J.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Brown's hands.
- 8:40Speaker 5: But it didn't seem like he was putting much effort
- 8:43Speaker 5: into that. I don't know how he sees the ball
- 8:46Speaker 5: in a night game when he's wearing that dark shade.
- 8:48Speaker 5: And that looked like in that specific situation, he maybe
- 8:51Speaker 5: didn't even see the ball because he was just waiting
- 8:54Speaker 5: for it to fall into his hands. He's confusing to me.
- 8:57Speaker 5: And if he was my wide receiver one as a quarterback,
- 9:00Speaker 5: I'd be ticked off.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Taylor, put it on the polls. There are need to
- 9:03Speaker 3: wear that shaded visor at a night game. I don't
- 9:07Speaker 3: know how.
- 9:08Speaker 5: I mean, look, I've never played DB in the NFL,
- 9:11Speaker 5: but I don't know how often you're staring at the
- 9:13Speaker 5: receiver's eyes in order to get your advantage on there.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So why do you need the shade?
- 9:18Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And some people might say that A.J. Brown lingering injuries
- 9:22Speaker 1: like there's stuff going on there. He doesn't look right.
- 9:24Speaker 1: He's not playing the way we've seen him play. But
- 9:26Speaker 1: you can't be the guy. who kind of yells and
- 9:29Speaker 1: screams and kicks his way out of Philadelphia because he
- 9:31Speaker 1: wants all the things that he now has in New
- 9:33Speaker 1: England and get off to this bad of a start.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I think there is something there, though, to Izzy's point,
- 9:37Speaker 4: where A.J. Brown looks like he can't really separate anymore
- 9:41Speaker 4: the way he was doing it in Tennessee or early
- 9:44Speaker 4: in his time in Philadelphia. And then when you compound
- 9:46Speaker 4: that now with now he has more drops, he doesn't
- 9:50Speaker 4: look like the same receiver. And I think if you're
- 9:52Speaker 4: the Patriots, the hope is– You give him more time
- 9:55Speaker 4: to get healthy and maybe he does start to separate
- 9:57Speaker 4: more or maybe he does his hands start to come back.
- 10:01Speaker 4: But right now, I think A.J. Brown is a pretty
- 10:03Speaker 4: big concern for this Patriots.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I mean, that was a straight go route.
- 10:07Speaker 5: And the defender not only was step for step with him,
- 10:10Speaker 5: but was able to reach around him as he was
- 10:13Speaker 5: running like that that's not a very fast wide receiver
- 10:16Speaker 5: and he never really i mean he was always fast
- 10:19Speaker 5: some level of fast but that wasn't his top skill
- 10:22Speaker 5: because he was just a bigger body who could run
- 10:24Speaker 5: routes well and can you know shed defenders and make
- 10:27Speaker 5: tough catches he's not doing any.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Of that uh ep jason wrote us a note here
- 10:31Speaker 1: in the chat ep jason just come to the microphone
- 10:33Speaker 1: and say what it is that you would like to
- 10:35Speaker 1: say because i'm not certain i disagree with.
- 10:36Speaker 6: You he's also isn't aj brown like bad body language guy,
- 10:41Speaker 6: like maybe he does care, but he looks like he doesn't.
- 10:45Speaker 6: And this is three teams in a row. Now we've
- 10:47Speaker 6: seen this like a bad body language. Yes.
- 10:50Speaker 3: And one of those teams incidentally was a team that
- 10:52Speaker 3: was going to the Superbowl regularly.
- 10:54Speaker 5: So I mean, if I remember correctly, he was, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 5: angry celebrator, right? Like he was just like, yeah, but
- 11:02Speaker 5: like not joyous. He always looked like he was angry
- 11:04Speaker 5: at somebody, but still showing off.
- 11:06Speaker 3: That that part is even gone.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:08Speaker 6: Yes.
- 11:09Speaker 3: We had a raging debate. I was laughing because, you know,
- 11:13Speaker 3: I love Taylor and I love Mikey. And I wondered,
- 11:17Speaker 3: are we ever going to fight?
- 11:18Speaker 1: Like because we don't do a lot in the way
- 11:20Speaker 1: of sports radio back and forth.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Fighting about a take and who's right and who's wrong.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And I wondered what was the topic going to be
- 11:27Speaker 1: that would eventually get us to fight. And it was
- 11:29Speaker 1: Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson. And the discussion we were
- 11:32Speaker 1: having is who deserves more credit?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Who is the reason? What's the reason the other one
- 11:37Speaker 3: is so great?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Is Caleb Williams more important to the Bears' success than
- 11:42Speaker 1: Ben Johnson? Because I believe it's Caleb Williams and.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It's not even close.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Well, Ben Johnson obviously had his success as an offensive
- 11:50Speaker 5: coordinator in Detroit, and that doesn't look the same without him.
- 11:55Speaker 6: Right.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I think it's OK that it's 50-50. Really?
- 11:59Speaker 4: Wow.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I think the pie is split right down the middle.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Wow.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Because Ben Johnson's saying to himself, I've got a quarterback
- 12:06Speaker 5: that I can do absolutely everything in my playbook with.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Which is why he chose to go to Chicago for
- 12:12Speaker 1: that quarterback.
- 12:13Speaker 3: That has nothing to do with Ben Johnson.
- 12:15Speaker 1: That all has to do with Caleb Williams and Ben
- 12:17Speaker 1: Johnson saying, man, that kid's worked hard and he's talented enough.
- 12:20Speaker 3: That's my guy.
- 12:21Speaker 5: But also Caleb Williams looks at this and says, unbelievable.
- 12:25Speaker 5: I couldn't have landed in a better place. I've got
- 12:28Speaker 5: a head coach slash O.C., that not only trusts me
- 12:31Speaker 5: but takes advantage of all my abilities. I think it's
- 12:35Speaker 5: just sort of a marriage made in heaven.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Izzy, when we were making this argument, Stu Gatz was
- 12:40Speaker 4: doing the thing where he was just hearing what he
- 12:42Speaker 4: wanted to hear.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Of course I was.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Because when we were describing our argument.
- 12:46Speaker 3: The hell you think this is?
- 12:47Speaker 4: He kept framing it like we were saying the Bears
- 12:50Speaker 4: could have any quarterback in Ben Johnson's system and they're
- 12:53Speaker 4: going to be a Super Bowl contender. The only point
- 12:56Speaker 4: I was trying to make is when you have a
- 12:58Speaker 4: quarterback like Caleb Williams and then you pair him with
- 13:02Speaker 4: somebody like Ben Johnson, like Caleb Williams with an average
- 13:06Speaker 4: NFL coach is still going to make the playoffs more
- 13:09Speaker 4: often than not. But when you pair him with Ben Johnson,
- 13:12Speaker 4: all of a sudden you go from a team that's
- 13:13Speaker 4: going in the wildcard round to— to now with Super
- 13:16Speaker 4: Bowl aspirations.
- 13:17Speaker 3: All right, so that's fair.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I was basically saying if Aaron Glenn was coaching the
- 13:21Speaker 1: Chicago Bears, Caleb Williams would still be all the things
- 13:24Speaker 1: that you just described him to be.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I'm not sure about that, though.
- 13:27Speaker 3: No, they'd make the playoffs. Joe Burrow has done it
- 13:30Speaker 3: with Zach Taylor.
- 13:31Speaker 8: True.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Okay? Making the playoffs is one thing. Taylor, I'm agreeing
- 13:34Speaker 3: with you here, okay?
- 13:35Speaker 4: Now I was just hearing what I want.
- 13:36Speaker 3: And that's what sports radio is all about.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Well, what I believe, and this is a different way
- 13:42Speaker 5: of trying to say what Herbstreet said the other last night.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I do believe that being with Ben Johnson accelerates the
- 13:52Speaker 5: learning curve. Like he could have been with Aaron Glenn
- 13:55Speaker 5: and shown moments of being this brilliant quarterback, but would
- 14:00Speaker 5: have occasionally, you know, goofed up because he's trying to
- 14:03Speaker 5: do too much because the offense doesn't really allow him to.
- 14:06Speaker 5: you know, to do everything he needs to do. It
- 14:08Speaker 5: feels a little bit like what Jaden Daniels is stuck
- 14:10Speaker 5: in in Washington, where it's just like it's not really
- 14:13Speaker 5: taking advantage.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Of his ability.
- 14:15Speaker 5: So, again, I just think, you know, the two of
- 14:17Speaker 5: them are perfect for each other, where Ben Johnson, a
- 14:19Speaker 5: young head coach, is looking like one of the best
- 14:22Speaker 5: in the league, and Caleb Williams, a young quarterback, is
- 14:24Speaker 5: looking like maybe the best in the league because they're together.
- 14:28Speaker 4: When I watch Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson specifically, that
- 14:32Speaker 4: pairing together... It reminds me the closest to the Patriots
- 14:35Speaker 4: with Tom Brady, where as a Jets fan, when I
- 14:38Speaker 4: see my quarterback drop back, I have no idea where
- 14:41Speaker 4: this pass is going. I'm almost assuming that he's throwing
- 14:44Speaker 4: into coverage. There might be a defensive back there. But
- 14:47Speaker 4: when you saw Tom Brady and anytime Tom Brady threw
- 14:50Speaker 4: a pass, you had a pretty good idea that the
- 14:52Speaker 4: receiver was going to be wide open once the camera cut.
- 14:55Speaker 4: I have that same feeling towards Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson,
- 14:58Speaker 4: where The second the ball leaves Caleb Williams laser of
- 15:02Speaker 4: an arm, I'm like, oh, this wide receiver has to
- 15:04Speaker 4: be like 10 yards of separation between him and the
- 15:07Speaker 4: defensive back.
- 15:08Speaker 3: That's a little bit of a jump scare when you
- 15:09Speaker 3: say as a Jets fan, because I forget that you're
- 15:12Speaker 3: a Jets fan. I know you don't bring it up
- 15:13Speaker 3: that much.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Sometimes I associate with them. Sometimes I don't.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You're better than that.
- 15:19Speaker 4: More often than not, I don't associate.
- 15:21Speaker 3: You should just go back. I mean, that's it. Not fourth.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Just keep running. But that is a great point.
- 15:28Speaker 5: There was a time, it was a couple of weeks
- 15:30Speaker 5: ago or before he got hurt, where I remember seeing
- 15:33Speaker 5: him sort of floating toward the sideline. And it looked
- 15:36Speaker 5: like he was anybody else would be like, oh, you
- 15:38Speaker 5: got to throw this away. And he just threw a dart.
- 15:40Speaker 5: And I was like, somebody's going to be on the
- 15:42Speaker 5: other end of that. You're not necessarily open, but he's
- 15:45Speaker 5: going to find. And it was just in the belly
- 15:46Speaker 5: of a receiver between two different guys.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:49Speaker 1: The arm strength, the vision, the game slowing down, seeing
- 15:54Speaker 1: things before they happen at a different speed than everyone
- 15:56Speaker 1: else on the field.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Those are all abilities that Ben Johnson did not teach him.
- 16:00Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
- 16:01Speaker 1: You're right about Ben Johnson, putting him maximizing his strengths
- 16:05Speaker 1: and putting him in a position to succeed. And no
- 16:07Speaker 1: one is doing it better right now that Ben Johnson,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying Caleb put in all the work before he.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Got to Ben Johnson.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Stu, you know what Ben Johnson does have though? What
- 16:16Speaker 4: guts to trust Cairo Santos to make a 58 yard
- 16:20Speaker 4: field goal after he just doing to field goal.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Yes.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Like that felt like a game that the bears have
- 16:26Speaker 4: lost consistently. every time before Ben Johnson and Kayla Williams
- 16:29Speaker 4: got there.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Where the only explanation I have for how Cairo Santos
- 16:33Speaker 4: made a career-long field goal after, what, like a decade
- 16:36Speaker 4: in the NFL for a kicker to make a career-long
- 16:40Speaker 4: field goal this far into his career, the ghost of
- 16:42Speaker 4: Mike Ditka.
- 16:43Speaker 3: The only explanation for that.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Yeah, or just the vibes of Caleb Williams because nobody
- 16:48Speaker 5: wanted to blame it on him for taking a sack, right?
- 16:50Speaker 4: Vibes of Caleb Williams or the ghost of Mike Ditka?
- 16:52Speaker 4: Who was more responsible for that field goal?
- 16:54Speaker 5: I used to have a— I think I deleted it, but
- 16:56Speaker 5: I had a picture on my phone of Mike Ditka
- 16:58Speaker 5: giving Mike Lupica the finger. in an espn green room
- 17:01Speaker 5: and i don't know why i deleted that but i
- 17:02Speaker 5: no longer.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Have that picture i'm certain he's not the only one
- 17:05Speaker 3: to do that to lupica that's why i took the.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Picture be sure to catch live editions of stew gods
- 17:12Speaker 2: and company live weekdays at 3 p.m eastern 12 p.m
- 17:16Speaker 2: pacific on fox sports radio and the iheart radio.
- 17:19Speaker 3: App you guys know where dan byer is today isaac's
- 17:24Speaker 3: got the uh sports update here in just a minute.
- 17:28Speaker 4: It's always a dangerous game guessing where people are when
- 17:30Speaker 4: they're not here.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Well, with Dan, it's usually golfing. It's not today, though.
- 17:34Speaker 1: He was able to score two tickets to the World Series.
- 17:36Speaker 3: That's what I was going to guess, actually. Yes, he's
- 17:38Speaker 3: a Milwaukee Brewers fan.
- 17:40Speaker 1: He's been a fan his entire life, and he's going
- 17:42Speaker 1: to see him play in the World Series.
- 17:43Speaker 3: How about that?
- 17:44Speaker 4: B and buyer stands for brew crew.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I was going to say brewers.
- 17:48Speaker 4: And then I wanted to say brew crew.
- 17:49Speaker 3: You changed it up in the middle?
- 17:50Speaker 4: I got scared halfway through it.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Because brew crew is hard to say quickly, right? All right,
- 17:56Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox, 877-99 on Fox. Taylor, what were you
- 18:00Speaker 3: saying in my headset during the update there?
- 18:03Speaker 4: It's just such a weird world we now live in
- 18:05Speaker 4: in college football where the news of the day in
- 18:08Speaker 4: college football is Oregon State star freshman wide receiver Jesse LeGray,
- 18:12Speaker 4: who leads the nation right now in receiving yards and
- 18:15Speaker 4: touchdown catches. He has re-signed with the Beavers, who will
- 18:18Speaker 4: return to play there in 2027.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It's a 10-year deal.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Like halfway done with the season this year.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Resigned.
- 18:26Speaker 4: He has no idea who's going to be on that
- 18:28Speaker 4: team next year. He has no idea who's quarterback is
- 18:29Speaker 4: going to be next year.
- 18:30Speaker 3: You know what? 18 years old. You're offering me how
- 18:33Speaker 3: many millions?
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm coming back. I'm going to stay right here. Let's
- 18:35Speaker 1: take a call here and then we'll, we'll talk some NBA.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Let's go to Trent. Who's in Virginia. Trent, go ahead.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You're on Fox sports radio.
- 18:43Speaker 8: Hey guys, thanks for taking the call. I'll say, I
- 18:45Speaker 8: think almost as fun as watching Caleb Williams play is
- 18:49Speaker 8: the amount of times the broadcast cut to Ben Johnson's
- 18:52Speaker 8: face because he just was professionally pissed off. And no
- 18:56Speaker 8: matter if the bears are giving up a 48 yard
- 18:58Speaker 8: touchdown or drilling a 58 yard field goal, the guy
- 19:01Speaker 8: has the exact same look on his face. And as
- 19:04Speaker 8: you see, like it's a holding call and you see
- 19:06Speaker 8: him cussing out his players, dropping F bombs, demands a
- 19:09Speaker 8: national treasure. And then a quick side note, It has
- 19:13Speaker 8: been almost nine years, but I feel like every bears broadcast,
- 19:16Speaker 8: they just have the double doink video ready.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Oh yes. Always ready. They had a doink situation last night,
- 19:24Speaker 3: but they'll never have the double doink again.
- 19:26Speaker 5: No, I mean, it's so funny. Nobody hits a gold
- 19:29Speaker 5: pose quite like that franchise. But Ben Johnson, he must
- 19:33Speaker 5: save all the personality for the postgame locker room because
- 19:36Speaker 5: he's an animal in the postgame locker room. He's doing
- 19:38Speaker 5: shirtless stuff. He's doing the stanky leg. That guy seems
- 19:41Speaker 5: fun as long as he's not on the sideline.
- 19:43Speaker 3: He should just be smiling like Indiana fans, football fans.
- 19:46Speaker 3: They have no reason to be upset. He has the
- 19:49Speaker 3: greatest quarterback in the game, and I think that's a
- 19:51Speaker 3: good way of describing Caleb Williams, the way Trent did.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think he's the most fun watch, individually, watch, in
- 19:59Speaker 1: all of sports. I just love watching him play the
- 20:01Speaker 1: game of football in the position of quarterback.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Taylor.
- 20:04Speaker 4: We had a moment in last night's game where I
- 20:06Speaker 4: think Ben Johnson started to feel Ben Johnson himself a
- 20:10Speaker 4: little as everybody's like saying, oh, Ben Johnson's this great
- 20:12Speaker 4: play caller. I don't know if you guys saw the
- 20:14Speaker 4: play early in the first half where Caleb Williams drops
- 20:17Speaker 4: back and instead of handing it off to the running back.
- 20:20Speaker 4: He hands it forward to his offensive lineman, and Joe
- 20:24Speaker 4: Thune gets the ball, and he runs it for like
- 20:26Speaker 4: two yards, barely gets anything, and then it's a penalty
- 20:29Speaker 4: because you can't hand the ball forward like that. And
- 20:33Speaker 4: then they asked Ben Johnson about it after the game,
- 20:35Speaker 4: and he said, shoot or shoot. We shot and we missed.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Keep it moving.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Listen, at Ben Johnson's Thanksgiving table, the first thing he
- 20:43Speaker 3: will be thankful for is Caleb Williams. That should be
- 20:46Speaker 3: the first thing, more.
- 20:47Speaker 5: So than his own kids if he has any, because
- 20:49Speaker 5: he's As somebody who likes to draw up plays for
- 20:51Speaker 5: flag football, there's nothing more infuriating when you've got a
- 20:54Speaker 5: banger of a play and do not have the personnel
- 20:57Speaker 5: that can run it for you. And it looks like
- 20:59Speaker 5: a mess when you're out there doing it. It's just like, no, no,
- 21:01Speaker 5: trust me, that's.
- 21:02Speaker 3: A great play. Yes.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Taylor, put it on the poll. Is Ben Johnson more
- 21:07Speaker 1: thankful for Caleb.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Williams than he is his own kids? Also put on
- 21:10Speaker 3: the poll, does he have any kids? Awesome. That too. Also,
- 21:14Speaker 3: if he does have kids, does he love Kayla Williams
- 21:17Speaker 3: more than his kids?
- 21:18Speaker 4: Izzy, the fact that Ben Johnson even came up with
- 21:20Speaker 4: this play, it is laughable because you think of some
- 21:23Speaker 4: coaches around the NFL. Like I have Mike McCarthy in
- 21:25Speaker 4: Pittsburgh sweating over the fact of trying to come up
- 21:28Speaker 4: with a game plan, trying to navigate a way for
- 21:31Speaker 4: the Steelers to score 20-plus points. And then you have
- 21:33Speaker 4: Ben Johnson with his feet kicked up in his office
- 21:36Speaker 4: in Chicago saying– Let's hand it off to our left guard.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Shooter, shooter is great.
- 21:39Speaker 5: You're going to have to help me out with this one.
- 21:41Speaker 5: I forget the team that it was. I don't even
- 21:43Speaker 5: know if it was college or pro, but somebody had
- 21:45Speaker 5: a tight end or maybe even a receiver lined up
- 21:48Speaker 5: right in the middle of the offensive line, but just
- 21:51Speaker 5: off of the line. So it was still an eligible
- 21:54Speaker 5: receiver and just ran out a quick little corner route
- 21:56Speaker 5: and was wide.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Open because nobody's trying to cover the offensive linemen.
- 22:00Speaker 5: That's the type of stuff that's what makes football the
- 22:04Speaker 5: most fun to me.
- 22:04Speaker 3: If you don't have.
- 22:05Speaker 5: a team full of ridiculously fast players out in the
- 22:08Speaker 5: field or ridiculously quick players like Tyreek Hill that makes
- 22:11Speaker 5: you sort of makes your jaw drop. I want to
- 22:13Speaker 5: see some, some interesting plays from these very thoughtful offensive coordinators.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Ben Johnson has three kids. Okay.
- 22:21Speaker 5: So Caleb's at least, I mean, if he's not on
- 22:24Speaker 5: top of that list, he's like, he's got to have
- 22:25Speaker 5: a couple of kids.
- 22:26Speaker 3: He doesn't like as much as well. He should name
- 22:27Speaker 3: one of his kids, Caleb. I mean, rename them, change up.
- 22:31Speaker 4: There's Declan Doyle too. Is he a couple of weeks ago? Okay.
- 22:35Speaker 4: We're the left guard.
- 22:36Speaker 3: What team is that?
- 22:37Speaker 4: The Ravens against the Browns.
- 22:39Speaker 3: The other thing, that terrible play happened to Patriots. They
- 22:41Speaker 3: get a touchdown in the final play of the first half,
- 22:43Speaker 3: and then Ben Johnson's coming out at halftime, and they
- 22:45Speaker 3: get a minute with him on the sidelines, and they're
- 22:47Speaker 3: asking him about that play. How'd you deal with it?
- 22:49Speaker 3: Did you talk to your team about it? And he's like,
- 22:51Speaker 3: what play? He's a goldfish. Izzy, you were out, but
- 22:58Speaker 3: after the opening night of the NBA Wednesday, I had
- 23:03Speaker 3: my top five teams in the NBA through one game.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Even though not everybody had played. It was unfair to
- 23:08Speaker 3: the Cavs. They hadn't played yet.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It was close against Philadelphia on the road last night,
- 23:12Speaker 1: but Philly had the last laugh, and Philly is still
- 23:14Speaker 1: my number one team in the NBA through two games
- 23:17Speaker 1: for them and one game for everyone else.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Okay. Yes. Yeah, the Sixers... I.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Don't know if this is just like a confirmation bias
- 23:26Speaker 5: because I thought about this going into the season. Like,
- 23:28Speaker 5: I don't think they're the, there might be the most
- 23:30Speaker 5: boring super team ever assembled. Like, if you think about
- 23:34Speaker 5: it in this way, like, I don't know if you've noticed,
- 23:36Speaker 5: but the Joel Embiid has some very like washed moments.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Like there's moments that he just like you would think
- 23:42Speaker 5: because he lost some weight, a little bit more agile,
- 23:44Speaker 5: can sort of really show off his, you know, all
- 23:46Speaker 5: the goods. But he just there's a couple of plays
- 23:49Speaker 5: every game so far that it just looks like he
- 23:51Speaker 5: forgot how to play basketball.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Yes.
- 23:53Speaker 5: But, you know, there is the part of the intrigue is. Yes,
- 23:57Speaker 5: Jalen Brown is on this team now, which is more
- 23:59Speaker 5: of a storyline intrigue than it is just flat out,
- 24:02Speaker 5: I want to watch that dude play basketball. Because even
- 24:05Speaker 5: though he's got a lot of ability, he's in a
- 24:07Speaker 5: dunk contest in the past, he can be a showman
- 24:11Speaker 5: of a basketball player, but he's just not. He doesn't
- 24:14Speaker 5: really play that way. Like I said, Joel Embiid, even
- 24:18Speaker 5: when he isn't looking washed, is not somebody that's just like, Oh, wow.
- 24:21Speaker 5: I can't believe he's doing this. It's just like, OK,
- 24:23Speaker 5: that's regular basketball.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Not aesthetically pleasing. Yes.
- 24:26Speaker 5: 41 year old LeBron James is not the same as
- 24:29Speaker 5: watching 25 year old LeBron James. It's entirely different. In fact,
- 24:33Speaker 5: it made me sad. Now, it's impressive that he can
- 24:35Speaker 5: play the center position.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:37Speaker 5: But it made me sad watching him get into drop coverage.
- 24:41Speaker 5: He was the big and he's falling back and drop coverage.
- 24:45Speaker 5: For every point of his career up until maybe when
- 24:47Speaker 5: he turned 40, it's, hey, I'm switching everything because I'm
- 24:50Speaker 5: LeBron bleeping James. Now he's like going back and drop coverage.
- 24:53Speaker 5: It just makes me sad. The two most entertaining things
- 24:57Speaker 5: about this team, and one of them will be all season,
- 24:59Speaker 5: is Tyrese Maxey.
- 25:00Speaker 3: He's great.
- 25:01Speaker 5: His quickness is, you know, his love for the game
- 25:04Speaker 5: jumps off the screen. And the second one is Vijay Edgecombe.
- 25:08Speaker 5: But they're using this guy with this tremendous athleticism as
- 25:12Speaker 5: basically like a spot up shooter and dirty work guy.
- 25:16Speaker 5: And it just doesn't really lend itself to watching some great,
- 25:20Speaker 5: you know, athleticism from him. And so I just watch
- 25:22Speaker 5: the games and I'm just like so far, eh, not
- 25:24Speaker 5: that fun to watch.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Izzy, going back to that Tyrese Maxey point. I'm not
- 25:29Speaker 4: sure anybody would put Tyrese Maxey in the top 10
- 25:32Speaker 4: conversation right now in the NBA.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Is he, mate?
- 25:35Speaker 4: But is it crazy to say that this feels like
- 25:36Speaker 4: it's Tyrese Maxey's team?
- 25:38Speaker 3: Well, I'm saying this going into the year.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Not only because of him being in the best position, right?
- 25:45Speaker 5: Probably entering, if not in his prime, on the team
- 25:48Speaker 5: that he is very familiar with. That makes him different
- 25:52Speaker 5: than Joel Embiid, who's probably on the back end. Makes
- 25:55Speaker 5: him different than Jalen Brown, who's coming in trying to
- 25:57Speaker 5: fit in and not a new team. Obviously, same thing
- 26:00Speaker 5: with LeBron on.
- 26:00Speaker 3: The very edge of his career.
- 26:03Speaker 5: This should be Tyrese Maxey's team, per se, without, you know,
- 26:08Speaker 5: saying that, right? He doesn't have to have the ball
- 26:10Speaker 5: in his hands all the time. The usage rate doesn't
- 26:12Speaker 5: have to be as high, maybe. But it's still, when
- 26:15Speaker 5: things matter, he is the guy that probably has the
- 26:18Speaker 5: greatest advantage. And if you remember last year, he came
- 26:20Speaker 5: out like a house on fire, which I'm not really
- 26:22Speaker 5: sure why that makes any sense.
- 26:24Speaker 3: You know, another phrase is cleaning clocks. Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Why is the cleaning of a clock something like did
- 26:30Speaker 5: people walk around with dirty clocks all the time? It's
- 26:32Speaker 5: just like, I'm going to clean your clock. Like, I
- 26:34Speaker 5: don't understand why that means you're beating somebody up. But anyway,
- 26:37Speaker 5: I do think Tyrese Maxey, yeah, to your point, should
- 26:40Speaker 5: be the guy that produces the most for this team
- 26:43Speaker 5: early on.
- 26:45Speaker 1: You say what you said about LeBron James, and I
- 26:48Speaker 1: understand it's– listen, LeBron at 25 is LeBron at 25,
- 26:52Speaker 1: one of the all-time greats, one of the most athletic
- 26:54Speaker 1: players we've ever seen play any sport. But I give
- 26:58Speaker 1: LeBron credit, A. his willingness to do.
- 27:02Speaker 3: The little things and things that, you know, a lot
- 27:04Speaker 3: of superstars wouldn't do. And then just the ability to.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Be 41 and still playing at this level where last
- 27:11Speaker 1: night it's 17 points, nine rebounds.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Had a bunch of assists. He's listen, he's great.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm stating the obvious, but not many players are willing
- 27:20Speaker 1: to go from as great as LeBron was to being
- 27:23Speaker 1: like a third or fourth wheel on a basketball team.
- 27:25Speaker 4: You know, so to clean your clock clock has been
- 27:28Speaker 4: slang for the human face. So the phrase likely comes
- 27:31Speaker 4: from boxing referencing the face of a clock.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Huh?
- 27:36Speaker 3: Huh? I'm more confused now than I was before.
- 27:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 5: I watch these period pieces of all these shows, and
- 27:42Speaker 5: they didn't use this language back then.
- 27:44Speaker 3: So it's like, I don't really understand. I don't get it.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Period pieces?
- 27:48Speaker 2: Really?
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 27:52Speaker 4: If you tell me you've got a great period piece
- 27:54Speaker 4: for me to watch, I'm not watching it.
- 27:57Speaker 3: What if it's about the old Yankee Stadium, though?
- 28:00Speaker 4: That's a good point.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I'm fascinated by how things actually operated like in the
- 28:05Speaker 5: early 1900s. You're going to tell me it was like
- 28:08Speaker 5: a coin flip for women to have children if they
- 28:10Speaker 5: survive it because doctors didn't really know what they were doing.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Like that to me is fascinating.
- 28:15Speaker 5: I mean, maybe not a coin flip, maybe a five
- 28:18Speaker 5: sided coin, but still a lot more dangerous to have
- 28:20Speaker 5: children back then.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Wait, so can I hear the origins of clean your
- 28:23Speaker 1: clock again? Just one more time, because I'm not certain
- 28:26Speaker 1: I understand it.
- 28:27Speaker 4: So the phrase likely comes from boxing and 19th to
- 28:31Speaker 4: 20th century American slang. Clock has been slang for the
- 28:34Speaker 4: human face, referencing the face of a clock since the
- 28:38Speaker 4: 19th century.
- 28:39Speaker 3: All right. It still doesn't make sense. While you're at it, though,
- 28:42Speaker 3: a tough road to hoe. Give me the origin.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Somebody dropped that the other day, and I was just like,
- 28:48Speaker 5: I've never hoed a road.
- 28:50Speaker 3: In my life.
- 28:51Speaker 5: I don't know what makes it difficult and why that's
- 28:55Speaker 5: a saying.
- 28:57Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox. You have it, Taylor, already?
- 28:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it comes from 19th century American farming. Using a
- 29:02Speaker 4: hoe to clear weeds or chop through hard, rocky soil
- 29:07Speaker 4: in a long crop row was exhausting. Back-breaking labor.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I would imagine any road would be a tough hoe. Nah,
- 29:15Speaker 3: I mean, some roads are smooth. Some roads, you know,
- 29:17Speaker 3: I mean— Yeah, after they hoed it.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I mean, I-95 down here in Miami is a tough
- 29:22Speaker 1: road to hoe, right? But the Turnpike, not nearly as difficult.
- 29:27Speaker 1: You've got to go further back.
- 29:29Speaker 3: The actual creation of the road is what we're talking about.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Period piece yeah then that road's not no ho no
- 29:34Speaker 4: mo i don't know what to do here what.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Deserve the better fate uh 877 99 on fox 877
- 29:43Speaker 3: you brought up something interesting is he yeah.
- 29:54Speaker 1: And we'll get to some Tyson stuff, and we'll get
- 29:57Speaker 1: to some more NBA. But The Caller brought up something interesting,
- 30:01Speaker 1: just how fun it is to watch Caleb Williams.
- 30:04Speaker 3: That is a guy, like, throughout sports, are there guys
- 30:08Speaker 3: that aren't on your team? That you enjoy watching them
- 30:12Speaker 3: so much that you'll go out of your way to
- 30:13Speaker 3: watch them.
- 30:14Speaker 1: For me, it was Allen Iverson. I love watching Iverson
- 30:17Speaker 1: just play the game of basketball. And Caleb Williams has
- 30:20Speaker 1: a similar effect on me. I mean, there's a lot
- 30:22Speaker 1: of guys.
- 30:22Speaker 5: There's two names that for whatever, three, for whatever reason
- 30:26Speaker 5: just jump to mind right away. One of them is
- 30:29Speaker 5: in college football, and it was only college football. And
- 30:31Speaker 5: that was Johnny Manziel.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:33Speaker 5: When Johnny Manziel, like when he first came onto the scene,
- 30:36Speaker 5: it was just like, I just really want to watch
- 30:39Speaker 5: that dude play football. I don't know if he's going
- 30:40Speaker 5: to be a great pro or not, but he's super
- 30:43Speaker 5: entertaining and you don't know really what he's going to
- 30:45Speaker 5: do next.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Johnny football.
- 30:46Speaker 5: Right.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Yes.
- 30:47Speaker 5: And then the other two, I think they happen to
- 30:49Speaker 5: be from the same draft class.
- 30:50Speaker 3: It was... Jason White Chocolate Williams.
- 30:53Speaker 6: Right.
- 30:54Speaker 3: And Vince Carter. Vince Carter. So much fun.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Both of those guys, like at any point during, I
- 30:59Speaker 5: remember that was probably my peak as an adult sports
- 31:03Speaker 5: center watching phase.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Right.
- 31:05Speaker 5: Because anytime they were going to show Sacramento Kings highlights,
- 31:08Speaker 5: I'm like, it's because of Jason Williams. I need to
- 31:10Speaker 5: see this if I didn't actually see the game. And
- 31:12Speaker 5: then Vince Carter, man, like it's just any given play
- 31:15Speaker 5: could turn into just a jaw dropping feat of athleticism.
- 31:18Speaker 2: And.
- 31:19Speaker 5: You know, he had the abilities probably in terms of
- 31:21Speaker 5: skill set to be the greatest to ever do it.
- 31:23Speaker 3: And early on, it was just so much fun to watch.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

- 31:33Speaker 2: within the iHeartRadio app, search FSR to listen live.
- 31:39Speaker 4: There's no time like October, and this is what it's
- 31:41Speaker 4: all been for. The World Series is here, streaming live
- 31:43Speaker 4: on Fox 1. It's the Brewers versus the Rays, and
- 31:45Speaker 4: there's nothing left to save it for. This is the
- 31:47Speaker 4: biggest stage in baseball at the moment. Every team plays
- 31:50Speaker 4: for all season long, every pitch, every swing, every walk-off.
- 31:53Speaker 4: This is history happening live, and you don't want to
- 31:56Speaker 4: catch it after the fact. Catch the Brewers versus the
- 31:58Speaker 4: Rays live on Fox 1. There's no time like October,
- 32:01Speaker 4: and there's no bigger stage than the World Series, streaming
- 32:03Speaker 4: live on Fox 1.
- 32:05Speaker 3: How do you feel about the series, Iz?
- 32:07Speaker 5: You know, I hope it goes seven only because I
- 32:10Speaker 5: believe game seven is on Halloween.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Was that necessary?
- 32:14Speaker 5: I also hope the WNBA finals go seven because game
- 32:17Speaker 5: seven would also be on Halloween.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 32:19Speaker 5: And it would probably be the two least watched game
- 32:21Speaker 5: sevens ever because it's on Halloween.
- 32:26Speaker 3: There, we talked baseball.
- 32:27Speaker 1: That concludes our baseball coverage until Jeff Passan joins us.
- 32:30Speaker 3: I've got the brains in six. Do you really?
- 32:32Speaker 8: Okay.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Baseball sound effect?
- 32:34Speaker 3: I got the Brewers in seven. How about that? Wow.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I was saying what was happening there during the break?
- 32:44Speaker 1: You were telling us that people were calling in. What
- 32:45Speaker 1: were they objecting to?
- 32:46Speaker 3: What happened?
- 32:47Speaker 7: So you guys were talking about a couple of what
- 32:49Speaker 7: are they called?
- 32:51Speaker 3: Colloquialisms? Idioms.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Idioms.
- 32:52Speaker 3: OK, whatever.
- 32:53Speaker 7: Whatever it's called. What was the first one? I. The
- 32:57Speaker 7: first one was, oh, well, clean your clock, right? So
- 32:59Speaker 7: a couple of callers called in to voice their displeasure
- 33:03Speaker 7: over the fact you guys were Misconstruing. It's actually a
- 33:06Speaker 7: tough road.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I'm sorry. No, it's a tough road to hoe. I
- 33:10Speaker 3: almost did it myself.
- 33:11Speaker 4: You see?
- 33:12Speaker 3: Because you know why?
- 33:12Speaker 4: It's a farming reference.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I was shocked to hear that because nobody has ever
- 33:17Speaker 5: said it correctly. It's the same way when you say
- 33:20Speaker 5: the horse chomping at the bit and it's actually champing
- 33:22Speaker 5: at the bit because horses champ.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Nobody says that right.
- 33:25Speaker 5: And therefore, that's why I've been wrong my entire life
- 33:28Speaker 5: with a tough road.
- 33:29Speaker 3: To hoe is because nobody's ever said row. They always
- 33:32Speaker 3: say road.
- 33:32Speaker 7: Do you know why they say road? Probably because it's
- 33:34Speaker 7: a tough row, and then you say two, so you
- 33:37Speaker 7: might think road, like to hoe.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that's exactly why.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Way to break it down.
- 33:42Speaker 5: Thank you, Iowa Sam. That's exactly why that's happened, but
- 33:46Speaker 5: that happened such a long time ago that nobody knew
- 33:49Speaker 5: that it was actually row. People have been saying road
- 33:52Speaker 5: to hoe since at least I've been born, so since 1977.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yes, but I was wondering why people would make that mistake,
- 33:57Speaker 3: and Iowa Sam just cleared it up.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Road to hoe.
- 34:00Speaker 3: To hoe, yeah. So it's tough road to hoe. Tough
- 34:04Speaker 3: road to hoe.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Like a row of crops, you know.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Do you need Iowa Sam to explain it again? Yes.
- 34:11Speaker 4: As a former farmer, I can relate to that.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Really?
- 34:14Speaker 7: Yes, I used a hoe a lot to clean weeds
- 34:17Speaker 7: out of rows of agriculture.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I'm glad you clarified. But now he don't use hoes
- 34:22Speaker 3: no more. So is he... I'm sorry. Izzy shocked me
- 34:28Speaker 3: the other day because he has watched the watch the
- 34:32Speaker 3: Tyson documentary. I still haven't watched it, but you gave
- 34:35Speaker 3: us a great story from the Tyson documentary that he
- 34:38Speaker 3: was partying with Bobby Brown the night before all night
- 34:42Speaker 3: before he lost to James Buster Douglas.
- 34:44Speaker 1: And it's one of our poll questions. We'll find out.
- 34:46Speaker 1: what the results were towards the end of the show here.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But you have more from the Tyson doc. Well, it's
- 34:52Speaker 1: just first of all, I thought it was very well done.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I wish I would have been able to give this
- 34:56Speaker 1: person credit, but I didn't actually look up who did it.
- 34:58Speaker 5: But it was very well done. It was artistically very
- 35:00Speaker 5: well done. I thought even though, you know, the most
- 35:03Speaker 5: interesting parts to me were to. Sort of remind me
- 35:06Speaker 5: of the things that were happening when I was a
- 35:08Speaker 5: teenager where maybe I didn't pay full attention to. And
- 35:11Speaker 5: there was a lot of things that I learned on
- 35:13Speaker 5: the doc. And so you get to it. It's a docuseries.
- 35:15Speaker 5: So get to the last episode. And I'm thinking, oh,
- 35:19Speaker 5: this is going to be the least interesting one because
- 35:21Speaker 5: it's going to be the post-career one. It's going to
- 35:23Speaker 5: be the one that I know pretty much everything about.
- 35:26Speaker 3: I was wrong.
- 35:27Speaker 5: And this isn't really a spoiler because you need to
- 35:29Speaker 5: actually see it to understand why I think this was
- 35:34Speaker 5: so well done or why it was so good.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Right. But, Stu, he did DMT on camera. You know
- 35:42Speaker 3: what DMT is? No.
- 35:43Speaker 5: DMT is a drug. It's a hallucinogenic, I want to say.
- 35:47Speaker 5: It's supposed to— I think it's called— I forget what it's called.
- 35:50Speaker 5: It's something in it that you experience that only comes
- 35:54Speaker 5: out of the human brain when somebody passes away. And
- 35:57Speaker 5: so that you consume that and it's just they say
- 36:00Speaker 5: you like pass out for, you know, 20 minutes. But
- 36:03Speaker 5: it feels like, you know, several hours and it feels
- 36:06Speaker 5: like just life changing stuff.
- 36:08Speaker 3: And he did that on camera with somebody. And it
- 36:11Speaker 3: was just it was wild to see.
- 36:14Speaker 5: You have no idea what's going on in his brain,
- 36:16Speaker 5: although he did a little bit of sleep talking there.
- 36:18Speaker 3: At some point.
- 36:19Speaker 5: But it's crazy that he not only that he does
- 36:22Speaker 5: that as often as he does, which is I think
- 36:25Speaker 5: he says hundreds of times or more than 100 times.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Which is crazy. But the fact that they just that
- 36:31Speaker 3: he was willing to do it on camera and just
- 36:33Speaker 3: be that vulnerable and have people watch it. Because you
- 36:36Speaker 3: don't know what's going to happen when you're in that situation.
- 36:38Speaker 3: That is that comfortable.
- 36:39Speaker 5: I don't want people looking at me when I'm drunk
- 36:42Speaker 5: or recording me when I'm under the influence of alcohol
- 36:45Speaker 5: or high on weed or whatever. But on Dia, it
- 36:48Speaker 5: was insane to watch. And again, I just highly recommend it.
- 36:53Speaker 1: So how do you feel when you wake up? You
- 36:55Speaker 1: pass out. It's odd to take something that would just
- 36:56Speaker 1: make you pass out.
- 36:57Speaker 3: I've never taken it.
- 36:58Speaker 5: It's intimidating to me, like the idea that I don't know.
- 37:02Speaker 3: What I'm going to see. I'm asking you like you're
- 37:03Speaker 3: an expert.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Izzy, the director of the Tyson doc is Floyd Russ,
- 37:09Speaker 4: executive producer. Bill Simmons.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Wow. Yes, we love Bill. I'm going to give Floyd
- 37:14Speaker 3: more credit than Bill.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah, the 30 for 30s.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I mean, we love all things Bill Simmons. We do.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Mike Tyson talk. That's a good idea. Congratulations, Bill. So
- 37:25Speaker 3: you get paranoid when you get stoned.
- 37:27Speaker 4: No.
- 37:27Speaker 3: I do, too. I don't want anyone looking at me.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I'm the same way. Well, I mean, I've stopped smoking,
- 37:33Speaker 3: but currently— When I used to. Back when I used to. No,
- 37:37Speaker 3: I very rarely get paranoid.
- 37:39Speaker 5: If I was ever stoned in public, it would just be,
- 37:41Speaker 5: just leave me alone kind of feeling.
- 37:43Speaker 3: It wasn't like I'm not worried about what people are
- 37:45Speaker 3: looking at.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I mean, I asked that question in follow-ups about Tyson
- 37:48Speaker 1: and how it felt when you wake up because I'm interested.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well, go ahead and do it. Let me know
- 37:53Speaker 3: if that changes Stugatz forever.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Izzy hands me a list of topics. He did so
- 37:58Speaker 1: on Tuesday. I didn't get to it. I still have
- 38:02Speaker 1: that same list. One of the topics on Tuesday, which
- 38:04Speaker 1: he still wants to talk about today, is Josh Allen's butt.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Is that what you wrote down?
- 38:11Speaker 4: Okay.
- 38:12Speaker 3: That's the way I experienced what it is that you
- 38:15Speaker 3: wrote down, yes. Yeah, no, I mean, I could talk
- 38:17Speaker 3: about it, but no.
- 38:18Speaker 5: It's more of Tracy Wolfson patting him on the butt,
- 38:22Speaker 5: which I don't know if you caught that.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Tracy Wolfson, now my hero.
- 38:27Speaker 5: It was after their last game, and they're just doing
- 38:29Speaker 5: the postgame, and she's like, okay, well, go enjoy it.
- 38:31Speaker 5: And you can see in the back where she's just
- 38:34Speaker 5: swinging and tapping him on the behind, and I'm just like,
- 38:37Speaker 5: have I ever done that?
- 38:38Speaker 3: Would I ever do that specifically? Would I ever do
- 38:40Speaker 3: that to a football player? Yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 5: And I don't know, it got a lot of attention,
- 38:44Speaker 5: but I didn't actually hear a reaction from people. I
- 38:46Speaker 5: don't know if they were just like, well, that's unprofessional
- 38:48Speaker 5: and being all straight, you know, buttoned up or they're
- 38:50Speaker 5: just like.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Heck yeah, Trace. It's like that a boy.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Right. Kind of. It's been done to me and I've
- 38:55Speaker 3: done it to others.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 3: No, again, I'm fine with that. The whole idea of it.
- 39:00Speaker 3: But After an NFL game. I don't know. It's a
- 39:04Speaker 3: little weird to me. But, again, salute to her. Is
- 39:07Speaker 3: it odd if I tell you that the person who
- 39:09Speaker 3: did it to me was Cliff Floyd? In a bathroom. Whoa. Just,
- 39:18Speaker 3: you know, it was bathroom conversation. I said something. I
- 39:21Speaker 3: got to go back. I think we were at a
- 39:23Speaker 3: radio station. I said, I got to go back. I
- 39:25Speaker 3: got to hustle. I got to get back. The segment's
- 39:27Speaker 3: going to start. He said, that a boy, and he
- 39:28Speaker 3: gave me a little tap on the fanny.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It was a good conversation.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Actually, it was the first time I ever got confirmation
- 39:34Speaker 5: that I had written a decent story. I was still
- 39:36Speaker 5: in college. I was writing for The Alligator, and I
- 39:38Speaker 5: had written a story on, you know, Teddy DuPay.
- 39:40Speaker 3: You remember that name, right? Of course, yeah. That's Florida.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Yeah, and so the story had come out, and I
- 39:46Speaker 5: was covering practice that day, and they were leaving practice,
- 39:48Speaker 5: and he just goes- Good story.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Tap me on the ass. And the rest of the
- 39:52Speaker 3: reporters are just like, hey, that is quite the compliment.
- 39:55Speaker 3: I think it was something I was telling a story
- 39:57Speaker 3: about Cliff Floyd. Yes, it was a compliment towards Cliff Floyd,
- 40:00Speaker 3: which is why I did it. I don't think he
- 40:02Speaker 3: does it willy nilly. You know what?
- 40:04Speaker 5: I think Tracy needs to do that more often.
- 40:06Speaker 3: So do I. I'm with you on that. So you
- 40:08Speaker 3: were okay with it? Oh, yeah. No, 100%. You were
- 40:10Speaker 3: just surprised more people weren't okay with it?
- 40:12Speaker 5: I was just confused because I didn't really understand what
- 40:15Speaker 5: the reaction was. Were there people getting upset by it?
- 40:17Speaker 5: Were there people just saying, hey, shoot your shot? I
- 40:20Speaker 5: don't know what they were saying. But it just made
- 40:23Speaker 5: me think, yeah, that's something you don't see every day.
- 40:25Speaker 3: No, no.
- 40:26Speaker 4: Izzy, a strange way for you to receive praise. The
- 40:28Speaker 4: strangest way I ever received praise, I was at a Miami,
- 40:31Speaker 4: North Carolina game right here in Hard Rock Stadium, and
- 40:34Speaker 4: I'm doing a stand-up, and next to me doing the stand-up,
- 40:37Speaker 4: is Will Manso. And Will Manso is as buttoned up,
- 40:40Speaker 4: polished as a sideline reporter gets, and he's waiting to
- 40:44Speaker 4: go live. I'm just pre-taping my segment. So I'm doing
- 40:47Speaker 4: my standup. I finished the standup and Will Manso turns
- 40:51Speaker 4: to me. He goes, I have to tell you, You
- 40:53Speaker 4: are great for a college kid. And I didn't have
- 40:55Speaker 4: the heart to tell him I was.
- 40:57Speaker 6: 27 years old.
- 41:00Speaker 3: But a young 27.
- 41:00Speaker 5: That is a great compliment. I've actually, I think I've
- 41:04Speaker 5: heard that story before from you, Taylor.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I see it. I say it every time I see
- 41:08Speaker 4: Will Mantel. That was just like.
- 41:10Speaker 5: When you read these really long promos going into breaks
- 41:12Speaker 5: and there's no other sound around you. That right there,
- 41:15Speaker 5: what you said you were doing was doing a video
- 41:18Speaker 5: into a camera that you know is not live. which
- 41:21Speaker 5: means you know you can mess up.
- 41:22Speaker 3: You'll just start over again. The loneliest feeling in the world.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I don't know why I always screwed those up.
- 41:29Speaker 5: There must have been people back in the truck in
- 41:30Speaker 5: the ESPN days. It's like, Jesus Christ, this guy can't
- 41:33Speaker 5: get one thing correct. Like, how is he on camera live?
- 41:35Speaker 5: There's something different when the camera's on and it's live
- 41:38Speaker 5: than when the camera's not live.
- 41:40Speaker 3: It's just like, I just feel like I'm talking to nobody.
- 41:42Speaker 3: A loneliness. Yes. Now I'm starting to think if it
- 41:45Speaker 3: was Cliff Floyd. I mean, I've never told the story
- 41:50Speaker 3: before and I'm debating. Was it Preston Wilson? No. I
- 41:53Speaker 3: don't know. You know what? Let's stick with Cliff Floyd
- 41:55Speaker 3: and let's not get you in trouble. I know, but
- 41:56Speaker 3: I don't want Cliffy to get mad at me. Why
- 41:59Speaker 3: would he get mad? And I have no idea if
- 42:00Speaker 3: I have any sort of right to call him Cliffy.
- 42:02Speaker 5: Listen, I know Cliff Floyd and Preston Wilson. I covered
- 42:05Speaker 5: them both on the 2000 Marlins. It was definitely Cliff Floyd.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Okay, he does that. Preston Wilson's not that friendly, not
- 42:11Speaker 3: that chummy.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Taylor, Izzy was, I don't know if he was poking fun.
- 42:16Speaker 1: He had some thoughts here on the Knicks ring ceremony.
- 42:19Speaker 1: It was the greatest night of Taylor's life. So great
- 42:21Speaker 1: that he got mad at Brian Cashman the next day.
- 42:25Speaker 5: Well, I was listening to Ike in the update, and
- 42:28Speaker 5: it made so much sense because, Taylor, did you experience
- 42:32Speaker 5: this when you were watching the ring ceremony? They had
- 42:34Speaker 5: these former Nick Greats, right, or relatives of former Nick Greats.
- 42:39Speaker 4: From the last championship team.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Okay, from the last championship team. Hand the assistants the
- 42:44Speaker 5: box with presumably the ring inside. But none of the
- 42:47Speaker 5: assistants actually opened the box. It was just, here's a box,
- 42:52Speaker 5: go sit down and give me an awkward hello.
- 42:55Speaker 3: And we're now learning that there was nothing in the box.
- 42:58Speaker 3: What's in the box? How could a team that has
- 43:02Speaker 3: been waiting so long for one of these ceremonies screw
- 43:06Speaker 3: up the ceremony? They had time to prepare. Yeah.
- 43:10Speaker 5: I would have had a blueprint for this entire thing
- 43:13Speaker 5: exactly how I wanted it to go. Did somebody just
- 43:15Speaker 5: not order the rings in time?
- 43:17Speaker 3: Is that what happened?
- 43:18Speaker 5: It's just very confusing. But it's good to know that
- 43:21Speaker 5: it confirms what I believe. There was something odd there.
- 43:23Speaker 5: And the odd thing is, oh, there was no ring.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Stu, you know I don't want to say anything bad
- 43:27Speaker 4: about James Dolan because James Dolan has all the technology
- 43:31Speaker 4: in the world to make sure I never– get in
- 43:33Speaker 4: Madison square garden again. Yes. But if somebody were to
- 43:36Speaker 4: say something bad about James, again, this is not me
- 43:38Speaker 4: saying something bad.
- 43:39Speaker 3: You love James.
- 43:39Speaker 4: I love James Dolan. Some people would say maybe he
- 43:42Speaker 4: was not planning on buying any assistance rings. Those rings
- 43:46Speaker 4: were only going to be for players on the team
- 43:48Speaker 4: players that scored baskets in those games, because you also
- 43:51Speaker 4: had the fishing email that was disguised as a championship
- 43:54Speaker 4: ring offer to where Joe Schmoe in ticket sales gets
- 43:57Speaker 4: an email saying, Hey, Let us know what size your
- 44:00Speaker 4: ring is. Click this link. And then all of a sudden,
- 44:02Speaker 4: if he clicks the link, they're sitting him down for
- 44:05Speaker 4: a mandatory cybersecurity class.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Cybersecurity. Talk about a letdown.
- 44:10Speaker 5: I don't know if you can go from one high
- 44:12Speaker 5: to such a low class on cybersecurity.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Kill me now. So you're saying if anyone could.
- 44:19Speaker 1: What are you saying exactly that James Dolan did not
- 44:22Speaker 1: buy championship ring for the assistant coaches?
- 44:24Speaker 4: So I'm not saying it, but if people wanted to
- 44:26Speaker 4: criticize James Dolan today, I would say that those people
- 44:30Speaker 4: would say James Dolan has an ability, a rare ability,
- 44:34Speaker 4: to where even when he wins, he somehow loses, and
- 44:37Speaker 4: he can't get out of his own way to look
- 44:39Speaker 4: like an incompetent owner.
- 44:40Speaker 7: Right.
- 44:41Speaker 4: That's not me saying it.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 44:42Speaker 1: You love James Dolan. You love the Mecca. You love
- 44:45Speaker 1: the Knicks. You even love his band.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that stupid kazoo he has.
- 44:49Speaker 3: But you're saying he tried to trick the assistants by
- 44:52Speaker 3: giving them an empty box? Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Do not open.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Please.
- 44:57Speaker 5: What if they made the box so difficult to open
- 45:01Speaker 5: that the assistants never actually found out that it wasn't
- 45:04Speaker 5: in there.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Because they couldn't open it?
- 45:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 45:06Speaker 3: And James swears there's a ring in there. If he
- 45:08Speaker 3: can get it open, that's next level. Chestnut checkers.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I find it hard to believe that he didn't buy
- 45:12Speaker 1: his assistants a ring, though. I mean, listen, I work
- 45:16Speaker 1: for the Marlins.
- 45:17Speaker 3: When they won their second World Series, I got a ring.
- 45:20Speaker 3: I was slinging tickets in the ticket office. How much
- 45:22Speaker 3: you get for it? like 12 grand.
- 45:27Speaker 5: Yeah that thing was up for sale the next day what.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Was facebook marketplace before facebook marketplace because that thing got
- 45:34Speaker 4: flipped on the black market.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yeah that pawn shop not black market just down the.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Street izzy it's interesting just going back to the nba
- 45:40Speaker 1: here for a second and the sixers best team in
- 45:42Speaker 1: the league through two games um but jaylen brown who
- 45:45Speaker 1: went there to get away from Jason Tatum, to be
- 45:48Speaker 1: a No. 1, is not a No. 1. He's playing
- 45:52Speaker 1: a role there, playing it well, and he's going to
- 45:53Speaker 1: have to continue playing that role because Maxie's their No.
- 45:56Speaker 3: 1 offensive option, I think. Should be.
- 45:58Speaker 1: And maybe Embiid's second, and Brown might be third, second
- 46:01Speaker 1: or third, LeBron fourth. But it's interesting to see Jalen
- 46:04Speaker 1: Brown embrace it the way he has.
- 46:05Speaker 7: It is.
- 46:06Speaker 5: To me, I think the most interesting— this is the part
- 46:08Speaker 5: about his move that wasn't the best for him, right? Because, yes,
- 46:12Speaker 5: he went to a team— That gets all the attention that,
- 46:14Speaker 5: you know, is expected to make the NBA finals, maybe
- 46:17Speaker 5: even win a championship. But it doesn't let him sort
- 46:20Speaker 5: of get off what he wants to get off, which is, hey,
- 46:22Speaker 5: I'm the man.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Watch me do this. He's going to have to, for
- 46:25Speaker 3: the most part, play a role.
- 46:26Speaker 5: But I just love what's happening between what's sort of
- 46:29Speaker 5: being exposed between him and Jason Tatum that like. Throughout
- 46:33Speaker 5: their time together or throughout his time in the league,
- 46:35Speaker 5: Jason Tatum has felt like sort of a disingenuous dude,
- 46:38Speaker 5: like nothing is actually him. He's just copying other people.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Or what have you.
- 46:41Speaker 5: And then now we have we had this one video
- 46:43Speaker 5: that was posted or Jason Tatum's talking about how he
- 46:47Speaker 5: was upset when when Jalen Brown got traded, blah, blah, blah.
- 46:50Speaker 5: And in the comments, you've got Jalen Brown with the
- 46:52Speaker 5: blue cap emoji saying, that's a lie. And man, am
- 46:56Speaker 5: I here for that battle between those two. I would
- 47:00Speaker 5: watch that game the same way when I was there,
- 47:02Speaker 5: but the same way I would have watched LeBron going
- 47:04Speaker 5: back to Cleveland. I want to see those two because
- 47:07Speaker 5: Jalen Brown is going to absolutely own Jason Tatum.
- 47:10Speaker 3: I don't know how. I don't know if it's words.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I don't know if it's a basketball. But he's going
- 47:14Speaker 3: to own Jason Tatum, and I'm here for it. You
- 47:16Speaker 3: love the pettiness, the petty arguments that you seem to
- 47:19Speaker 3: find mostly in the NBA.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I love the petty arguments, specifically when they're targeted at
- 47:23Speaker 5: Jason Tatum. There's just something about him. We've been through
- 47:27Speaker 5: this before. There's some unlikable characteristic about him.
- 47:30Speaker 4: November 10th. Celtics, Sixers, get your popcorn ready. That's an
- 47:35Speaker 4: official get your popcorn ready game.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Yeah, a thousand percent. The unlikable thing is he seems fake, right?
- 47:40Speaker 3: It does.
- 47:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Seems fake. Seems everything is just not really him, even
- 47:43Speaker 3: though his hairline is real.
- 47:45Speaker 4: There's no time like October, and this is what it's
- 47:48Speaker 4: all been for. The World Series is here, streaming live
- 47:50Speaker 4: on Fox One. Rays versus Brewers, baseball's biggest stage. Stream
- 47:54Speaker 4: it live on Fox One.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Our thanks to Jeff Passon for joining us. Izzy stepped
- 47:58Speaker 1: out there because he's not into this World Series. One
- 48:03Speaker 1: of the things that Jeff Passon told us before we
- 48:05Speaker 1: wrap up the week with the poll questions, that's who
- 48:08Speaker 1: got 790.
- 48:11Speaker 3: On X.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Passon told us he closed down a bar at Milwaukee
- 48:15Speaker 1: last night. And if you stay until closing, which is
- 48:18Speaker 1: 2 a.m., they give you a sign saying you closed
- 48:20Speaker 1: down the bar on the way out. It's like a
- 48:23Speaker 1: prize at the end of the night because you made it.
- 48:25Speaker 1: But at some point in the evening, Izzy, someone who
- 48:28Speaker 1: works with Passin leaned over to him and said, hey, Jeff,
- 48:32Speaker 1: you're the oldest guy in this bar at this point.
- 48:35Speaker 3: And I'm wondering if that's something he should be proud
- 48:38Speaker 3: of or ashamed of.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Well, that's, you know, it's funny because it just reminds me,
- 48:41Speaker 5: I don't know if she'd be proud or ashamed.
- 48:43Speaker 3: I also don't know how old he is.
- 48:44Speaker 5: Like, how old is Jeff Passin that he's the oldest guy?
- 48:46Speaker 3: Is this a college bar?
- 48:47Speaker 2: He's 46.
- 48:47Speaker 3: But he's a young guy.
- 48:49Speaker 4: He looks good for 46. He really does, yes.
- 48:52Speaker 3: And based on, you know, head and shoulder shot that
- 48:54Speaker 3: I see. I mean, I'm 40. But Taylor, I don't
- 48:58Speaker 3: know if you've been to this place. Probably not. It's
- 49:00Speaker 3: right by where you live. It's called the Palm Room.
- 49:03Speaker 5: I was there the other night and I had no
- 49:05Speaker 5: idea what kind of. Bar this was. It ends up
- 49:08Speaker 5: being a little bit nightclub ish, but it's just basically
- 49:10Speaker 5: ends up being like a really packed bar. And it
- 49:13Speaker 5: just there was a moment that just brought me into
- 49:15Speaker 5: back to my like very angry 20s. Not that I
- 49:18Speaker 5: was always angry, but just sometimes. But, you know, this
- 49:22Speaker 5: one pair of guys were like walking by and they
- 49:24Speaker 5: happened to step on Anthony's shoes and it was really annoying.
- 49:27Speaker 3: And I was just like, you know, just making sure
- 49:28Speaker 3: that they were on their way.
- 49:29Speaker 7: Right.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 49:30Speaker 5: And the one guy looks at me, and after he
- 49:33Speaker 5: gets pissed off and tells me to F off, and
- 49:35Speaker 5: I'm just like, okay, I'm not going to get into
- 49:36Speaker 5: a fight at a bar.
- 49:37Speaker 3: I'm not really 20. He looks at me, he goes...
- 49:40Speaker 3: You look like you're 40. And I'm just like, you
- 49:43Speaker 3: have no longer made me mad at you. That is
- 49:45Speaker 3: a great compliment.
- 49:46Speaker 5: If you only knew how old I really was, sir,
- 49:49Speaker 5: that would be, you know, that wouldn't be your go-to line.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Also, what's wrong with a 40-year-old at a bar? Anyway.
- 49:56Speaker 1: So you quickly went from thinking it might be go
- 49:59Speaker 1: time to, oh, thank you.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Thanks for the compliment, my guy. All right, let's get
- 50:04Speaker 3: to the polls here at Stugatz790 on X. I love
- 50:07Speaker 3: doing this when.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Izzy has no idea which poll questions we're going to
- 50:12Speaker 1: cover here.
- 50:12Speaker 3: So clueless. First poll question.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Is losing to the 0-5 Titans a fireable offense? Colts
- 50:22Speaker 4: GM got fired. Chris Ballard.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Yes.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Why the GM, though? It should be the special teams coach, effectively.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Or the head coach. Well, maybe.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 3: The GM selects all the players. He's the first guy
- 50:33Speaker 3: to go. We know how this works, I think. Yes.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Anyway, yes, he should have been fired. 95.7% of the
- 50:40Speaker 4: audience said yes. Losing to Robert Sala should be the
- 50:43Speaker 4: final nail in somebody's coffin.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Okay. Next poll.
- 50:47Speaker 4: If you only watch London NFL games, would you think
- 50:49Speaker 4: Travis Hunter was football's Michael Jordan?
- 50:52Speaker 3: Yes, 100%. In London, they think that. They do.
- 50:56Speaker 4: He's their David Beckham there.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Yeah. What were the results here?
- 51:01Speaker 4: 80.5% of the audience said yes.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Do strange things happen in Provo at night?
- 51:08Speaker 3: They sure do. Every single year. I've been talking about
- 51:11Speaker 3: it for decades.
- 51:12Speaker 5: Travis Hunter, I'm sorry to go back to that one,
- 51:14Speaker 5: but the fact that he's so athletically talented that he
- 51:17Speaker 5: can pretend to fall down just so a quarterback can
- 51:20Speaker 5: throw it.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Such a good bait and switch. Absolutely. ridiculous level of athleticism.
- 51:24Speaker 6: Yes.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Are they going to keep using him on offense as
- 51:26Speaker 3: much as they did last game or in London? Right.
- 51:29Speaker 4: You think it was just a London exclusive?
- 51:31Speaker 3: Well, he's the Michael Jordan of London. Yes. To shorten
- 51:33Speaker 3: the cellies a little bit. 90.1%.
- 51:37Speaker 4: Sent to the audience said, yes, strange things happen in
- 51:40Speaker 4: Provo at night. And Notre Dame found that out the
- 51:42Speaker 4: hard way.
- 51:42Speaker 3: They got robbed.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Big one for me.
- 51:44Speaker 3: You get robbed at night in Provo. That's what happens. Yeah.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Strange things. Can you be.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Back if you never arrived? This was about, I declared
- 51:53Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 51:53Speaker 2: Back.
- 51:55Speaker 3: And I said he never arrived. Yeah, I agree. He
- 51:57Speaker 3: never did arrive. He was great in college. In college, right.
- 52:01Speaker 3: But he never arrived in the pros. So how could
- 52:02Speaker 3: he be back? Did he arrive in Houston? I didn't
- 52:04Speaker 3: even notice. I'm sorry. Where was he traded? Yeah, Houston.
- 52:08Speaker 3: He had three catches.
- 52:09Speaker 4: He was in London.
- 52:09Speaker 3: That's an arrival? He was in London. Three catches? Yes.
- 52:12Speaker 3: He's back.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Three catches.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Right. One was for a first down. Wow.
- 52:17Speaker 4: One third of his catches were for a first down.
- 52:19Speaker 3: AJ Brown does that. I wonder if his career is over.
- 52:22Speaker 4: 71.2% of the audience said, no, you cannot be back
- 52:27Speaker 4: if you never arrived.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Right.
- 52:28Speaker 3: That's because A.J. Brown has arrived. That's why people say that.
- 52:31Speaker 3: I guess. Yes.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 52:33Speaker 4: There isn't a more lonely feeling than being the camera
- 52:35Speaker 4: guy that can't find the football.
- 52:37Speaker 6: Oh, the worst.
- 52:38Speaker 4: It's got to be the worst.
- 52:39Speaker 3: It's his job to find the football, and he can't
- 52:40Speaker 3: find the football. You've got to be so ashamed if
- 52:43Speaker 3: you get fooled by play action. Oh, my God. The
- 52:47Speaker 3: cameraman crew, they must laugh at each other.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Huh?
- 52:50Speaker 3: They got Johnny. Yeah. Johnny's following the running back.
- 52:56Speaker 4: 77.6% of the audience said yes. That is the most
- 53:00Speaker 4: lonely feeling. Would Miles Garrett walk back to Cleveland today
- 53:04Speaker 4: if he could?
- 53:05Speaker 3: I think he would. I do.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Walk.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Slow walk. Probably get some plantar fascia with all that walking.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I mean, the Browns are in first place.
- 53:13Speaker 4: 68.9% of the audience said yes, Miles Garrett would walk back.
- 53:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 53:21Speaker 4: Big one for us too all right somebody suggested that
- 53:23Speaker 4: arch manning should go play at two lane and then
- 53:25Speaker 4: stew got said a manning wouldn't be caught dead playing
- 53:28Speaker 4: quarterback at two lane.
- 53:32Speaker 3: That was the poll question would a manning be caught
- 53:34Speaker 3: dead playing at too late.
- 53:35Speaker 4: A manning wouldn't be caught dead playing quarterback at two
- 53:38Speaker 4: lane question mark there's no what i mean 79.5 of
- 53:42Speaker 4: the audience said yes a manning would never be caught
- 53:44Speaker 4: dead playing quarterback at two lane yeah Big one here
- 53:48Speaker 4: for T-Bop. Does Lloyd Carr have underrated seed? Tommy Carr
- 53:55Speaker 4: starting at Michigan now.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Yes.
- 53:57Speaker 4: CJ Carr starting at Notre Dame.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I did not have.
- 54:01Speaker 4: Lloyd Carr is their grandfather.
- 54:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 54:04Speaker 3: No, but no one would think that Lloyd Carr would
- 54:07Speaker 3: produce or be, I guess, two generations removed from producing
- 54:11Speaker 3: what he's produced. Okay. I, for one, did not think that.
- 54:15Speaker 3: I'm just absorbing it all right now. What were the results?
- 54:20Speaker 4: 76.3% of the audience said yes, underrated seed.
- 54:23Speaker 3: All right. What was the rating? What is the properly
- 54:27Speaker 3: rated seed? I don't know. I mean, Lloyd Carr, I
- 54:30Speaker 3: would say.
- 54:30Speaker 4: LeBron, good seed.
- 54:32Speaker 3: If you ask me, what are the chances that Lloyd Carr,
- 54:34Speaker 3: two generations, is going to spawn off a couple of quarterbacks?
- 54:37Speaker 1: If you asked me when he was coaching at Michigan,
- 54:39Speaker 1: just based on physical appearance, I would have said like 10% chance.
- 54:41Speaker 5: Okay.
- 54:42Speaker 3: Underrated seat. All right.
- 54:44Speaker 4: Yes. Speaking of LeBron, actually, will LeBron ever go to
- 54:47Speaker 4: Geno's and Pat's? I said no, emphatically.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Will he ever go to Philly? Yeah. Wait, those are
- 54:53Speaker 3: two different places, right? Geno's and Pat's. Like across the
- 54:56Speaker 3: street from here. They're competing. Yeah, they're the two key
- 54:58Speaker 3: state joints in Philadelphia.
- 55:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:01Speaker 3: No, he'll have it helicoptered to him.
- 55:03Speaker 4: Uber Eats helicoptered?
- 55:05Speaker 3: He'll eat it on the chopper on the way home.
- 55:08Speaker 4: 82.1% of the audience said, nope, LeBron will never step
- 55:10Speaker 4: foot in Philadelphia.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Quick update, I did my top five teams in the
- 55:13Speaker 3: NBA through one game, and now a couple of teams
- 55:16Speaker 3: have played two, and Philly's still number one. Yes.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Wow, big one here for Stu Gatz.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 55:23Speaker 4: Who beat Mike Tyson in Tokyo in 1990? Buster Douglas
- 55:28Speaker 4: or partying with Bobby Brown?
- 55:29Speaker 3: Easy answer. Easy answer. Easy answer. Is he watched the doc?
- 55:33Speaker 3: I still haven't watched it. That's very good. But it
- 55:36Speaker 3: has to be Bobby Brown.
- 55:38Speaker 4: 74.3% of the audience said yes. Partying with Bobby Brown
- 55:41Speaker 4: is what did Mike Tyson in that night in Tokyo.
- 55:44Speaker 3: What a night it must have been.
- 55:45Speaker 6: Yes.
- 55:46Speaker 4: Wow, big one here for Mike Golick Jr. Is chess
- 55:50Speaker 4: a board game?
- 55:50Speaker 3: Yes, they think chess is a board game.
- 55:52Speaker 4: No, we thought, Gojo thought it's not a board game.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Yes, Mike Golick Sr., his dad, thought it was a
- 55:58Speaker 3: board game. He said it's not a board game. I
- 56:00Speaker 3: don't think it's a board game. You have to think
- 56:02Speaker 3: too much.
- 56:02Speaker 5: I'm firmly on the side of it being a board
- 56:04Speaker 5: game because it's sold in the board game aisle.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Yeah, but is it?
- 56:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 56:08Speaker 4: Gojo's argument was if you told him, let's go play
- 56:11Speaker 4: a board game and you broke out chess, he'd punch
- 56:14Speaker 4: you in the face.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Yeah. No, I get it.
- 56:16Speaker 5: I still call it a board game, but it is
- 56:17Speaker 5: the most serious of board games. So yeah, not exactly fun.
- 56:20Speaker 5: That's probably why it shouldn't be called a board game.
- 56:23Speaker 3: It should be a separate aisle for boring games.
- 56:26Speaker 4: 86.6% of the audience said, yes, it is a board game.
- 56:28Speaker 4: Two more here. Yes.
- 56:29Speaker 3: With the dolphins and the jets.
- 56:32Speaker 4: Big one here for Mark Hockman and Stu Gatz in
- 56:34Speaker 4: their cookout debate. Would you want chicken nuggets as a
- 56:37Speaker 4: side with your meal?
- 56:39Speaker 3: No. No, no, no.
- 56:41Speaker 5: No.
- 56:41Speaker 3: It's not a side. It's a meal.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Right. Thank you. It's a main for a child.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Can I have steak with a grilled chicken? I mean,
- 56:48Speaker 3: what are we doing?
- 56:49Speaker 4: You guys are in the minority here. 69.8% of the
- 56:52Speaker 4: audience said yes, they would want chicken nuggets as a side.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I'm opening up a turf and turf restaurant.
- 56:59Speaker 4: I lied. Two more poll questions, actually.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Two more.
- 57:02Speaker 4: Is the worst time to play Anthony Davis and Joel
- 57:04Speaker 4: Embiid in game one of the regular season?
- 57:06Speaker 3: That's when you don't want to meet them because they're healthy.
- 57:08Speaker 3: For sure.
- 57:09Speaker 6: Yes.
- 57:09Speaker 3: 100%. It has to be.
- 57:13Speaker 4: As close as we've gotten so far, I think. 94.5%
- 57:16Speaker 4: of the audience said yes.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Last poll question. Big one for me here. Did Disney
- 57:21Speaker 4: only become the most magical place on Earth after they
- 57:24Speaker 4: tore down the old Yankee Stadium?
- 57:26Speaker 3: Yes, because before then, the old Yankee Stadium was the
- 57:29Speaker 3: most magical place on Earth. Is it the most magical?
- 57:32Speaker 3: I thought it was the happiest place on Earth. I
- 57:34Speaker 3: think it is the happiest place on Earth.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Now there's some debate because Ricardo's saying it's the happiest,
- 57:38Speaker 4: but I'm almost positive it's the most magical.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Maybe you're thinking of Magic Kingdom. Yes, it's the happiest
- 57:45Speaker 3: place on Earth. It is.
- 57:46Speaker 4: Is that Disney World or Disneyland?
- 57:48Speaker 3: Oh, stop it. Disneyland is just so much better for me.
- 57:52Speaker 3: It's so much smaller. Everything's more accessible.
- 57:54Speaker 8: Yes.
- 57:54Speaker 3: A little closer together. Yes.
- 57:56Speaker 4: 62.1% of the audience said yes, Disney only became the
- 58:01Speaker 4: most magical place on Earth after they tore down the
- 58:03Speaker 4: old Yankee Stadium.
- 58:04Speaker 3: The idea that the old Yankee Stadium was your Disney
- 58:06Speaker 3: at one point is absurd.
- 58:08Speaker 4: You used to have season passes. Those are the polls.
- 58:13Speaker 4: All right.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Have a great weekend, everyone. Izzy, thanks for coming in.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Enjoy the football, everyone.
