- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to this episode of the Daily Rider Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: All of us deal with a certain amount of friction as riders.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Even under the best of circumstances, there are obstacles and problems that threaten our productivity and success.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: When you're under a deadline or you're experiencing a high amount of stress, it's time to reduce the friction.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: And the easiest way to do this is by prioritizing your commitments.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Honestly, you can't do everything.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Let me give you an example.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: After I created my first podcast called The Artist Suitcase, this would have been, I think, back in 2013 or 2014, I kept that show going for almost a year.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: It was a weekly interview-based show, and it took several hours a week to produce, including interviews and writing the content and recording and editing and all that stuff.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: However, after 37 episodes, I decided to end it because it really wasn't helping me to reach my creative goals at the time.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Now, later on, I went back to podcasting when I had more time, and when it was clear that podcasting fit into my business and creative goals.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So, in other words, I enjoyed doing it.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: It was fun.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I learned a lot.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: It got me into podcasting, but really it wasn't producing the results for me at the time.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: So I put it on pause for a while.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And I think that's a good example of saying no to something right now, even though it doesn't mean you're saying no to it forever.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Whenever you're feeling a lot of stress, you've got to focus on what matters most right now in the moment.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: You might disappoint some people or even disappoint yourself, maybe most of all, but the truth is that you just can't do everything.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: You've got to pick and choose what your priorities are, and it's okay to let some things go.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Again, it doesn't mean you're letting them go forever, but it does mean you're letting them go for right now.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So here's today's question If you're feeling stressed right now, what can you eliminate or postpone on your schedule?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
