- 0:02That's right. You can hear all about it here on the One Leg Up
- 0:05with Alex Scarett feature. I know I've been getting a little more news oriented
- 0:10here on the One Leg Up feature, but sometimes you just got to cover
- 0:14that because I do believe there should be a place where you're not here,
- 0:18where you're hearing everything about it that you may not be. So what's today's
- 0:24topic of extra extra on One Leg Up with Alex Scarrett. Today's topic involves
- 0:30what the House Intelligence Committee has pretty much set Washington, d c. And
- 0:36anybody interested in our public safety into mayhem, saying that there's a serious national
- 0:44security threat. Now, I think it's funny that the White House is saying,
- 0:51well, why did they say this? Why do they do this?
- 0:54Listen to Jake Sullivan. Firstly, this was coming from the House Intel Chi
- 1:02by the name of Mike Turner, House Intel Committee Chair Mike Turner saying there's
- 1:07a national security threat, serious social security threat related to Russia. Now,
- 1:14that's what officials are telling SCENE and other sources. That is, in fact,
- 1:19a highly concerning and destabilizing Russian capability that we were recently made aware of.
- 1:25This is in the midst of this Russia Ukraine War. So part of
- 1:32me wish is they just came right out with it instead of setting everything to
- 1:34panic. I mean, of course, you know, a Democrat on the
- 1:38House Committee says, this isn't a cause for panic, there's no need for
- 1:42alarm. What even House Speaker Johnson said there was no need for alarm.
- 1:49But to me, when you release something like this, it's worth talking about
- 1:53and it's worth declassifying. Of course, we know the Bidens love to have
- 1:59classified information all over the place. But I digress. Here's what Jake Sullivan
- 2:04said at the podium today just a little while ago. So first, I
- 2:07reached out earlier this week to the Gang of Eight to offer myself up for
- 2:13a personal briefing to the Gang of eight. And in fact, we schedule
- 2:16the briefing for the four House members of the Gang of Eight tomorrow. That's
- 2:21been on the books. So I am a bit surprised the Congressman Turner came
- 2:23out publicly today in advance of a meeting on the books for me to go
- 2:27sit with him alongside our intelligence and defense professionals tomorrow. What are they hiding
- 2:32then, If they're so surprised, why shouldn't this be known to all Americans
- 2:38concerned, as I mentioned yesterday or twos are Monday, about their loved ones
- 2:44across the sea. Look, there are American soldiers that we may not know
- 2:47about fighting in Ukrainian right now. Why shouldn't this be a cause for alarm?
- 2:53Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor. I believe he played a key role
- 2:58in the Obama ran deal as well, and he was sort of like a
- 3:00lackey for them back in the day too. Here he is again. Here
- 3:05he is again defending the White House and saying, well, he continued,
- 3:10that's his choice to do that. All I can tell you is that I'm
- 3:14focused on going to see him sit with him as well as the other House
- 3:17members of the Gang of Eight tomorrow, and I'm not in a position to
- 3:20say anything further from this podium at this time other than to make the broad
- 3:23point that this administration has gone further and in more creative, more strategic ways
- 3:35dealt with the declassification of intelligence in the national interest of the United States than
- 3:39any administration in history. Was that, as President Biden was on his way
- 3:44to get the ice cream, called you declassified information. Because I feel like
- 3:47the guy left the classified information all over the place, whether you penned the
- 3:53local carvel. I mean, come on, Jake Sullivan, tell us what's
- 3:55in the documents. I think we, as American tax accountability deserve to know.
- 4:02Now. I'm a little fired up because it just feels like they're hiding
- 4:06something from us. It doesn't he don't you get that feeling when they say
- 4:11and they pussy foot Sorry to say that, but they pussy foot around the
- 4:15fact that there's a security threat. I'm a little surprised. Mike Johnson,
- 4:18this House speaker even said there's no cause for alarm. I got understand.
- 4:23Democrats say that because they don't want the Republicans to look good after actually a
- 4:29huge win this week. By the way, after we left the air Rais
- 4:31yesterday on one leg up it was official my orcist, the DHS secretary was
- 4:38actually impeached, a huge win for the House GOP ahead of election twenty twenty
- 4:44four. So I really believe the White House, the Democrats, and I
- 4:50had to say, Mike Johnson here is trying to cut down at the knees
- 4:56something very important because not to raise alarm. And that's concerning to me because
- 5:03if the Democrats want to take a victory lap on this, and if they
- 5:08want to say, don't cause for alarm. Also, I remember four years
- 5:11ago around this time they were saying there's no COVID go on party. What
- 5:15happened a month later they shut us down? So what does this cause for
- 5:19alarm? Now? I know there's a lot of parallels, the same Super
- 5:24Bowl teams, the same presidential candidates. Uh yeah, I'm a little concerned
- 5:30that four years later, someone is to nonsense to cause us harm in twenty
- 5:35twenty four. And I really applaud the House Intel Chairman for coming out with
- 5:43this a day before their meeting Mike Turner, because someone's got to say it.
- 5:47There is a national security threat, a serious one on our hands after
- 5:54they viewed the documents that were made available as of yesterday, February thirteenth.
- 6:02And I'm just I'm just here to tell you we have to be on alert.
- 6:09I only anybody else on the podcast Fair might talk about it like this.
- 6:13That's why I'm here because I believe in having one leg up on accountability.
- 6:18I believe you should have one leg up on the news as well,
- 6:23because we all want to walk around being informed, not always glued to our
- 6:27phone all the time. Vice President, Vice Chairman of the Senate Intel Committee
- 6:35Marko Rubio, and Senate Intel Committee Chair Mark Warner released the same as saying,
- 6:41in the meantime, we must be cautious about potentially just closing sources and
- 6:44methods that may be key to preserving a range of options for US action.
- 6:47What does that mean? What action do we have to take off the serious
- 6:54threat? It? It feels like back in twenty twenty when they say there's
- 7:00no cause for alarm, go out and party for the lunar New Year to
- 7:04come to Chinatown. Remember they said that, and then a month later they
- 7:09like us out. I wrote that. So we should be on alert,
- 7:15just like Intel Chair Mike Turner is on alert, because if we're are gonna
- 7:21have one leg up on Russia and our enemies, I think sounding the alarm
- 7:28is a lot better than saying I'm surprised Mike Turner did this. So what
- 7:31are you hiding, Jake Sullivan? What are you hiding? By an administration?
- 7:38All right, at six o'clock, five minute fix at six we'll go
- 7:40a little longer with name is mister Screlley, not Martin, but an founder
- 7:48and CEO of a new dating app here in New York City. His name
- 7:53fully is Nico Screlley, founder of CEO of chivvy Ink. We'll talk about
- 7:59one leg up on dating in just a little bit at the six o'clock hour.
- 8:03Stay tuned for that and so much more here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network
