- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Deeply Well. This show is a soft place
- 0:06Speaker 1: to land on your journey. A space where we explore
- 0:10Speaker 1: what it truly means to live well from the inside out.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Not perfectly, but honestly. This is Deeply Well. Welcome back
- 0:21Speaker 1: to Deeply Well. I am your host, Devi Brown. Thank
- 0:24Speaker 1: you as always for joining us. Oh my Lord, y'all,
- 0:28Speaker 1: there is so much going on We are in, I
- 0:34Speaker 1: think I was reading somewhere today, depending on where you
- 0:36Speaker 1: hear this episode, the days are going to change a bit.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But we're somewhere around the 100-day mark until 2027, 100
- 0:45Speaker 1: days until the new year. And it just, God, the
- 0:49Speaker 1: older you get, the faster it goes. It just blows
- 0:53Speaker 1: my mind how years feel like months the older you get.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Blows my mind. And also it just gets like funny
- 1:02Speaker 1: to me how at different like age groups or different
- 1:06Speaker 1: seasons in life, like the things about the year, they
- 1:11Speaker 1: start to mean different things. Like summer was always my
- 1:14Speaker 1: favorite season, but now I would say fall is like,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and I'm not even a pumpkin spice person. But I
- 1:21Speaker 1: just love the moodiness of it and the freshness of it.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And so I've been diving, I have been diving into
- 1:28Speaker 1: the senses lately. I've been thinking so much about our
- 1:32Speaker 1: senses and so much about seasons and, you know, just
- 1:36Speaker 1: the creativity within which we can bring ourselves back to life.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Like we get such an opportunity to do that. as
- 1:45Speaker 1: we change the guard for every new season. So as
- 1:47Speaker 1: we're kind of creeping into fall, and if you are
- 1:50Speaker 1: an astrology girly like me, been into it since, my God,
- 1:55Speaker 1: at least the last 25 years, I've been really seriously
- 1:58Speaker 1: into it. We just got off of some major eclipse seasons. Y'all,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm just ready for something different. When I was reading
- 2:09Speaker 1: today how it's 100 days until 2027, I was thinking
- 2:15Speaker 1: back to the top of 2026. And this year is
- 2:21Speaker 1: the year of, in Chinese New Year, it's the year
- 2:25Speaker 1: of the fire horse. And I was thinking about all
- 2:27Speaker 1: the symbolism that was so closely connected with that at
- 2:30Speaker 1: the top of the year and how there are interpretations
- 2:36Speaker 1: we don't know or don't have until the year starts
- 2:39Speaker 1: to play out. So I think for those that are
- 2:41Speaker 1: into astrology, we know that this is a very spicy, spicy, spicy,
- 2:46Speaker 1: potent year of change. Just so many transits and changes
- 2:50Speaker 1: and bringing out a lot of intense energies. I mean,
- 2:56Speaker 1: but really, when is it not like that? While being alive, right?
- 3:00Speaker 1: Last year felt very similarly. But I remember at the
- 3:04Speaker 1: top of the year, I'm reading about year of the
- 3:05Speaker 1: fire horse, and I was thinking a couple of days ago,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I was like, you know what? Like this, this horse
- 3:14Speaker 1: burned my ass up. The year of the fire horse
- 3:20Speaker 1: for me has been less of like fast chariot energy
- 3:25Speaker 1: and more of like, let me light that ass up.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So it's been so, it's just so interesting. I think,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you know, if you listen to the show and of course,
- 3:35Speaker 1: if you've read my book, I'm a grief and joy girly.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I accept that both are true. I live that truth.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I integrate it as much as I can. And, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: like many of us, I have a life that has
- 3:46Speaker 1: a ton of grief and challenge and my God, an
- 3:50Speaker 1: immense amount of miraculous energy and joy, like just unparalleled.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And I am firmly set in the center of both again.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Very similarly to the way I felt in 2020. So
- 4:08Speaker 1: I was thinking about that too. Like I remember before
- 4:11Speaker 1: we went into lockdown, we were getting into 2020. And
- 4:14Speaker 1: I remember I was doing some work with Karma Gang
- 4:18Speaker 1: and we were going to start, I was going to
- 4:20Speaker 1: do this retreat and it was going to be called
- 4:22Speaker 1: 2020 Vision. And then the pandemic happened and what the
- 4:27Speaker 1: hell was that? Even though I do miss it a little, honestly,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I miss, I'm a homebody and I miss when everybody
- 4:34Speaker 1: was a homebody. Yeah. But yeah, it's just so interesting.
- 4:38Speaker 1: There is potent, potent, potent change afoot in the air
- 4:44Speaker 1: in so many, many ways. And yeah, we got to
- 4:51Speaker 1: accept it. We got to surrender to it. I personally
- 4:55Speaker 1: am in like a really awful go of it this
- 5:00Speaker 1: year and a really good go of it. It's so confusing, right?
- 5:04Speaker 1: There's so many hard and amazing things happening at once.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And then, you know, when I get in that kind
- 5:10Speaker 1: of tizzy, I like to return and remind myself that
- 5:14Speaker 1: life is all about not necessarily balancing either, but just
- 5:19Speaker 1: harmonizing both, allowing space for both and then seeing what
- 5:25Speaker 1: comes next. So that is the kind of energy that
- 5:27Speaker 1: I'm kind of coming into the fall with, that I'm
- 5:30Speaker 1: walking in life with, that I'm exploring and It's really interesting. Lately,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I've been getting very, very, very into Substack. I am
- 5:39Speaker 1: loving Substack. And I'm trying to find even more ways
- 5:43Speaker 1: to add more there in a way that makes sense.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Because to be quite honest, to grow and build your Substack,
- 5:50Speaker 1: it is a calling of the heart. Finding time for
- 5:55Speaker 1: it to build something non-lucrative in this day and age,
- 6:03Speaker 1: it's you got to love it and you got to
- 6:05Speaker 1: have intention and you got to have process. And so
- 6:08Speaker 1: I've been really falling in love with it there and
- 6:12Speaker 1: trying to find more things that I want to share there.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And I'm really looking to honestly, potentially like not being
- 6:22Speaker 1: anywhere else on social, maybe within the next year. We'll see.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Y'all know I'm a reclusive queen. So yeah, I just
- 6:31Speaker 1: don't I don't want to be for the world anymore. Um,
- 6:36Speaker 1: so anyway, I've been thinking about Substack and it's been
- 6:38Speaker 1: really fun sharing things in a fuller way there with
- 6:41Speaker 1: a little more context and a little more opportunity to
- 6:45Speaker 1: storytell past, present, and future. And so I, I put
- 6:49Speaker 1: an article up a few weeks ago about friendship. Um,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and what was the, what did we title that article? Um,
- 7:01Speaker 1: we titled it, I love you and this, this relationship
- 7:03Speaker 1: is not for me anymore. The article is titled, I
- 7:07Speaker 1: love you and the relationship is not for me anymore.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And we went deeper in that article based on a
- 7:13Speaker 1: podcast episode that I did a few weeks ago, um,
- 7:18Speaker 1: answering Q and A's and specifically answering a question on
- 7:22Speaker 1: how do you know if it's time to leave a
- 7:25Speaker 1: relationship or if you've outgrown someone or how do you
- 7:29Speaker 1: let yourself even consider that, especially if it is someone
- 7:34Speaker 1: that you have known for a long time or has
- 7:36Speaker 1: been in many seasons of your life. And so the
- 7:40Speaker 1: response to that article was so big. And it was
- 7:45Speaker 1: such a reminder that so many of us collectively are
- 7:49Speaker 1: really experiencing similar themes this year that definitely lean into
- 7:54Speaker 1: the themes of what eclipse season was, of Even that
- 7:57Speaker 1: firehorse energy, like what needs to burn fast? That's how
- 8:01Speaker 1: I've been taking it because I have needed to burn
- 8:05Speaker 1: things quickly in my life this year and let some
- 8:09Speaker 1: bridges just ignite. And also I know historically that like
- 8:15Speaker 1: if that's the season that you're in, just say yes.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Just say yes to it. You don't have to understand
- 8:22Speaker 1: how it's going to pan out. You don't have to
- 8:25Speaker 1: have the solves, the solutions. Um, you don't even have
- 8:28Speaker 1: to light the match, just say yes. And so seeing
- 8:33Speaker 1: some of the responses, uh, was really, really eyeopening for me. Um,
- 8:41Speaker 1: and that these are things that I think we don't
- 8:45Speaker 1: talk about enough, you know, often there, there are, or
- 8:51Speaker 1: maybe talk about enough outside of ourselves and our gripes.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'll say that. Um, Because when you think about the
- 8:58Speaker 1: ways that people used to learn how to be human,
- 9:03Speaker 1: how to be adults, how to interact really with society, right?
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like I love those like back in the day books
- 9:13Speaker 1: and I collect some of them like, you know, like
- 9:17Speaker 1: the ones that are, you know, how to manners, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 1: rules and manners, like those kind of like old timey
- 9:24Speaker 1: books or books that were more related to, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: this is how you prepare a home. This is how
- 9:33Speaker 1: you fix your car. This is all the things that
- 9:36Speaker 1: like teach us, right? If we don't have that directly.
- 9:39Speaker 1: So like in that sense, you know, I think old,
- 9:43Speaker 1: older books and advice columns and things like that really
- 9:47Speaker 1: kind of leaned into like the bigger generalized advice about
- 9:54Speaker 1: maybe foundational behavior or about how to actually technically do
- 9:59Speaker 1: or create something. But we need guides about the nuance
- 10:05Speaker 1: of connections. Um, we need guides about navigating and growing wisdom,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you know, um, And I think that's where I really
- 10:13Speaker 1: landed with thinking about that Substack article. It's like we
- 10:18Speaker 1: don't always know that we even have a right to
- 10:21Speaker 1: choose the kind of relationship we're in with people, the
- 10:25Speaker 1: right to be acquaintances if we want to and nothing
- 10:29Speaker 1: more than that, or the right to say no to
- 10:32Speaker 1: an offer of new friendship just as easily as we
- 10:36Speaker 1: can say no to an offer of a date with
- 10:38Speaker 1: someone we're not interested in. And also all the reasons
- 10:41Speaker 1: that that doesn't have to mean anything significant about you
- 10:45Speaker 1: or them. It doesn't have to be judgment that something's
- 10:48Speaker 1: wrong with that person or wrong with you. It's just
- 10:52Speaker 1: we get to make these choices and then we learn
- 10:56Speaker 1: and grow and decide based on the choices that we make,
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know, that will come, but we all deserve our
- 11:05Speaker 1: own lives. And I think after kind of reading through
- 11:09Speaker 1: like the comments on that article and some of the
- 11:11Speaker 1: discourse around it, one, I just, I love this for
- 11:15Speaker 1: all of us that we get to slow down enough
- 11:19Speaker 1: to recalibrate and investigate what our agreements are with ourselves
- 11:24Speaker 1: and with other people. I think it's also really special
- 11:31Speaker 1: to know that once we unleash that quality within ourselves
- 11:35Speaker 1: and can do that with one thing, we then open
- 11:37Speaker 1: up the ability to do it with absolutely everything, with
- 11:40Speaker 1: so many things in our lives. And so as we're
- 11:44Speaker 1: thinking about what is the right fit for who I
- 11:47Speaker 1: am and my life right now, it's like, yeah, in
- 11:53Speaker 1: all the ways. I've been thinking about that with absolutely everything.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I went through the season of thinking about that with friendship.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I've been in seasons of thinking about that, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 1: with closer relationships, with work, with the way like my
- 12:11Speaker 1: day flows with absolutely everything. And that is truly my
- 12:17Speaker 1: intention for this season of my life is I want
- 12:20Speaker 1: to be in right relationship with absolutely everything. I want
- 12:26Speaker 1: to be in right relationship with friendships, with colleagues, in
- 12:32Speaker 1: right relationship with my mornings. I want to be in
- 12:37Speaker 1: right relationship with work. I want to be in right
- 12:41Speaker 1: relationship with myself. I want to be in right relationship
- 12:46Speaker 1: with my dreams. And I'm noticing in this season of
- 12:51Speaker 1: my life how much my dreams are wrapped up in
- 12:55Speaker 1: doing less, wanting to do less. I'm dreaming of doing less. Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: it's interesting. So this can be a really good time
- 13:09Speaker 1: to investigate that because we're in fall. So we have
- 13:12Speaker 1: about a quarter and then we move into winter and
- 13:15Speaker 1: winter is, as I usually talk about yearly, winter is
- 13:19Speaker 1: naturally hibernation. It's not the go hard or go home time.
- 13:24Speaker 1: It's really the time to rest in your ideas and
- 13:30Speaker 1: let yourself kind of nourish and complete certain cycles and
- 13:35Speaker 1: then really get ready for spring. So as we are
- 13:38Speaker 1: entering fall right this moment, start to think about some
- 13:41Speaker 1: of those questions I'm asking aloud. Where are you in
- 13:46Speaker 1: wrong relationship in your life? What about your life in
- 13:50Speaker 1: the most finite way should be allowed to change? And
- 13:54Speaker 1: I think also notice that in terms of developmentally where
- 13:57Speaker 1: you're at in your age, because there are certain things
- 13:59Speaker 1: that we have a natural disposition and an energy and
- 14:04Speaker 1: a momentum to depending on what decade we're in, right?
- 14:07Speaker 1: So if you're in your 20s, this may not be
- 14:10Speaker 1: your decade for rest, right? This is your decade of experimentation,
- 14:15Speaker 1: of having the opportunity to kind of pick and choose
- 14:19Speaker 1: and not take any one thing too, too seriously to
- 14:22Speaker 1: give yourself the opportunity to change your mind a lot,
- 14:25Speaker 1: to really just experiment and create with friends, with work,
- 14:31Speaker 1: with school, with home, with adult life. I think your
- 14:38Speaker 1: 30s are when you start to really go hard, like hard, hard.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Not just I'm exhausted hard, like in your 20s, but
- 14:46Speaker 1: you add in a lot more lived experience and strategy
- 14:49Speaker 1: in your 30s. So you really get to start to
- 14:53Speaker 1: There's a different level of maturity inside of you and
- 14:56Speaker 1: a different level of life practice that now exists in you.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You have muscle memory for a lot of things. It's
- 15:04Speaker 1: the chance to be kind of still, if you're like
- 15:06Speaker 1: in corporate settings, like young but powerful, your chance to
- 15:11Speaker 1: still take a few more reckless choices because there's some
- 15:15Speaker 1: time to catch up. And then in your 40s, I
- 15:18Speaker 1: think if you've been kind of already working pretty hard
- 15:21Speaker 1: and you get a chance to kind of recalibrate yourself
- 15:28Speaker 1: in a way that work should also really be working
- 15:31Speaker 1: for you too. And you can get very creative because
- 15:35Speaker 1: now you have like two decades or more of work
- 15:37Speaker 1: history under your belt, a friendship history under your belt,
- 15:41Speaker 1: of romantic experiences under your belt, that at this age
- 15:48Speaker 1: you should be starting to really mine your wisdom and
- 15:54Speaker 1: take advantage of the privilege of having so much lived
- 16:00Speaker 1: experience and potentially contacts or opportunities and communities that you
- 16:07Speaker 1: can kind of maneuver within and pull from. And you
- 16:11Speaker 1: also definitely really have even more of an opportunity than
- 16:14Speaker 1: in your 30s to uplift others and to bring people
- 16:18Speaker 1: with you and give others opportunity and to Be wise
- 16:23Speaker 1: counsel for people. I think everyone in their 20s deserves
- 16:36Speaker 1: to have a safe friend, a safe, wise friend in
- 16:42Speaker 1: their 30s and their 40s. I think everyone in their
- 16:46Speaker 1: 30s deserves a safe, wise friend in their 40s and
- 16:50Speaker 1: in their 50s. and beyond and beyond and beyond. I'm
- 16:54Speaker 1: one of those people that has very multi-generational friendships and always,
- 16:58Speaker 1: always have. So I have friends in 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s,
- 17:06Speaker 1: even 90s. And I just get so much out of that.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I love that. And I love all the ways that
- 17:14Speaker 1: I get to grow and become more of myself and
- 17:17Speaker 1: from those different layers and mirrors and generations. So yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think starting to look at that for each of
- 17:28Speaker 1: us this fall, so that you can really sit with
- 17:33Speaker 1: it this winter, and then potentially be in deep experimentation
- 17:39Speaker 1: and new beginning. with all of it by this spring.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It could be a very, very useful and important way
- 17:52Speaker 1: to start looking ahead at your life. So subscribe on Substack.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I say all that to say, because I want to
- 18:03Speaker 1: get even more into the nuances. My Substack, if you
- 18:07Speaker 1: don't know, it's called Self-Care Simplified. And That's really how
- 18:11Speaker 1: I look at all of this. Like the work of boundaries,
- 18:13Speaker 1: the work of, um, self-actualization, personal, personal growth, the work
- 18:19Speaker 1: of mindfulness, the work of tools and practices and all
- 18:22Speaker 1: of it, all of it, all of it is an
- 18:25Speaker 1: ecosystem that feeds itself in your life. All of it
- 18:28Speaker 1: is self-care and all of it is worthy of being
- 18:32Speaker 1: like demystified and simplified. So you can actually see, um,
- 18:37Speaker 1: the practical and modern application of all of it into
- 18:42Speaker 1: absolutely your everyday life. So you can live it. You
- 18:45Speaker 1: can be it. You can integrate and embody it. So
- 18:49Speaker 1: that is what's happening over there. A couple other things
- 18:53Speaker 1: I've been thinking about. My son just started third grade.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He's eight years old. It is such a pleasure raising
- 19:01Speaker 1: an eight-year-old. We're having so much fun. And I'm just so,
- 19:05Speaker 1: I feel so like, I'm always like this, but I just,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I feel so excited about my son. Like I just
- 19:13Speaker 1: enjoy him so much. And like some of the ways
- 19:19Speaker 1: his like personality and who he is and his interests
- 19:22Speaker 1: are just evolving and springing to life. And it's just,
- 19:27Speaker 1: it is so damn cool and so inspiring. And I'm
- 19:34Speaker 1: so lucky and grateful that I have him. And I
- 19:38Speaker 1: have this space in my own mind and my heart
- 19:41Speaker 1: to really give it all to him and, yeah, be
- 19:48Speaker 1: slowly present deeply. present with him, um, and observant and
- 19:54Speaker 1: witnessing to all that he is. It's, it's the best y'all.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It is the best. Um, yeah. So that's been, that's
- 20:02Speaker 1: been really, really, really, really sweet. It's been interesting too,
- 20:05Speaker 1: cause he doesn't get a ton of, um, screen time,
- 20:09Speaker 1: like he gets to use his iPad to talk to
- 20:14Speaker 1: two friends from school and play this one math game
- 20:20Speaker 1: for about 45 minutes on Friday. And that's kind of it.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And I don't know if I'm even going to keep
- 20:28Speaker 1: that going. I want him to be able to understand
- 20:32Speaker 1: technology and interact with his peers in a way that
- 20:38Speaker 1: they're interacting. I don't want him to be behind there.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And at the same time, even that little bit of
- 20:45Speaker 1: screen access has added a lot of stress. I'm really
- 20:49Speaker 1: interested to look up some of that. I know there's
- 20:52Speaker 1: studies and articles on it. So I want to dive
- 20:55Speaker 1: into some of that actually this weekend. But It's fascinating
- 21:01Speaker 1: how quickly that can shape a brain and how like
- 21:07Speaker 1: overwhelmed and even upset and anxiety ridden or frustrated that
- 21:13Speaker 1: makes a young person's brain just so fast. So I'm
- 21:17Speaker 1: not digging that. So I might be going over those agreements.
- 21:22Speaker 1: But it's just interesting to see. And I'm curious to
- 21:24Speaker 1: know for any other parents listening, like, Just how they're
- 21:27Speaker 1: navigating that, what they think maybe the benefit of the
- 21:32Speaker 1: trade-off is. Because I do also understand as parents sometimes,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you need a little screen help. You might need some
- 21:39Speaker 1: help or something to hold their attention, especially when out
- 21:44Speaker 1: and about or if you're needing to do things. Definitely
- 21:47Speaker 1: get that. And this is their only brain. We do
- 21:52Speaker 1: have to make sure we are doing our due diligence.
- 21:56Speaker 1: to know the effect these things that we're giving them
- 21:59Speaker 1: that they think they want, but they don't really know
- 22:03Speaker 1: what's happening. So we don't fully have their consent for
- 22:06Speaker 1: what it could do. We need to be on top
- 22:09Speaker 1: of that and we need to be vetting those things.
- 22:10Speaker 1: So that's something that is just kind of like always
- 22:13Speaker 1: on my mind. I've been learning a lot as a
- 22:19Speaker 1: teacher this month. in ways that have been really cool.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I had this opportunity to teach and do this really
- 22:27Speaker 1: amazing retreat with this company, Figs. Shout out to everybody
- 22:34Speaker 1: in healthcare that was already up on knowing how amazing
- 22:38Speaker 1: Figs is. Figs is amazing. I was so blown away
- 22:44Speaker 1: by this company and their leadership working with them and
- 22:47Speaker 1: how much and how deeply they truly authentically care about
- 22:54Speaker 1: healthcare professionals and how much resource they are willing to
- 22:59Speaker 1: put behind that care. Like they really put their money
- 23:02Speaker 1: where their mouth is. I went to this just exceptional
- 23:07Speaker 1: retreat that they put together for a hundred or so
- 23:10Speaker 1: of their ambassadors, which is pretty much all corners of
- 23:14Speaker 1: the healthcare field, from surgeons and general doctors to nurses
- 23:20Speaker 1: to caretakers, just absolutely everyone in the field. And we
- 23:26Speaker 1: have this incredible retreat in Ojai, which is in California
- 23:30Speaker 1: near Santa Barbara, for those that aren't familiar. And I just,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I taught for a few days, nervous system regulation, meditation,
- 23:39Speaker 1: and there is nothing I love more than reverse engineering,
- 23:44Speaker 1: like barriers to this work. And we got to get
- 23:47Speaker 1: into the fibers and I just met so many incredible
- 23:51Speaker 1: people that are doing so much for all of us.
- 23:55Speaker 1: They convene literally from all over the country and from
- 23:59Speaker 1: all over the globe. There were people traveling in from
- 24:02Speaker 1: so many other continents. And to just get to really
- 24:05Speaker 1: know and learn and understand more about this group of
- 24:12Speaker 1: human beings that give all of us so much that
- 24:15Speaker 1: we go to in crisis, in fear, in emergency, and
- 24:21Speaker 1: to really get to know them and what they walk
- 24:24Speaker 1: with and what they need. It was just so amazing.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Oh my God, I loved it. I loved it. I
- 24:29Speaker 1: loved it. I love to teach and I love to learn. Yeah,
- 24:35Speaker 1: so that was amazing. And then I loved all the
- 24:38Speaker 1: gear that I got too. That The Figs gear, though
- 24:41Speaker 1: I am not a healthcare professional, you will see me
- 24:43Speaker 1: wearing it on all my flights. You'll see me wearing
- 24:46Speaker 1: it to drop off, especially their compression socks. Like, ah,
- 24:52Speaker 1: so good. So that was really special this month. And yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I just love getting in there. And then we brought
- 25:02Speaker 1: Wellness Oasis to London this month, which was insane. Insane.
- 25:09Speaker 1: For those that know, I'm the chief impact officer and
- 25:12Speaker 1: the host and a partner in Wellness Oasis with my very, very, very,
- 25:17Speaker 1: very dear friend and also my agent, Jared Schoenfeld. And
- 25:22Speaker 1: he has created this community, this just beautiful platform of
- 25:29Speaker 1: deep learning and experience. We've been doing this since 2023.
- 25:35Speaker 1: We have the amazing, we've had some just amazing experiences
- 25:40Speaker 1: at Cannes every year, at Art Basel every year, and
- 25:43Speaker 1: we've done some pop-ups in New York and Austin and
- 25:47Speaker 1: Los Angeles. And we've curated these rooms and communities of
- 25:52Speaker 1: people that are taking understanding of well-being, longevity, wellness, mental health,
- 26:01Speaker 1: mental illness, to deeper levels. Like we get really into
- 26:05Speaker 1: the nuance. We have some incredibly special people that join
- 26:08Speaker 1: us and just conversations that are mind-blowingly expansive and a
- 26:13Speaker 1: lot of activation so that you can really try and
- 26:16Speaker 1: test out tools for nervous system regulation, tools for health,
- 26:22Speaker 1: tools for peace. And so we brought that for the
- 26:27Speaker 1: very first time to London. I actually just got back
- 26:29Speaker 1: a few days ago and it was exceptional. And one
- 26:33Speaker 1: of the things that we were in partnership with Buckman Philanthropies,
- 26:38Speaker 1: which is this incredible philanthropic arm led by Daria Buckman,
- 26:44Speaker 1: where they are just looking to deeply serve women and
- 26:48Speaker 1: children in emotional health and other arms of wellness. And
- 26:53Speaker 1: so they partnered with us on this really, really special launch.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And We had a few hundred people come out. I
- 27:01Speaker 1: was able to speak with so many wonderful voices in
- 27:04Speaker 1: the space and friends in the space. I had Emma
- 27:09Speaker 1: Greed joined us actually as a surprise fireside chat with
- 27:13Speaker 1: me that we did. And I really enjoyed it. And
- 27:17Speaker 1: I know that there were all these soundbites about things
- 27:20Speaker 1: she had said about motherhood that had been kind of
- 27:22Speaker 1: circulating the internet that I heard. And in this conversation,
- 27:25Speaker 1: she and I actually were able to go a lot
- 27:27Speaker 1: deeper in her love for her children and in her
- 27:31Speaker 1: philosophy on parenting. And I was just, I was really,
- 27:35Speaker 1: really moved. She's a really authentic woman, obviously incredibly strategic
- 27:41Speaker 1: and successful and just brilliant. And I was really, really
- 27:44Speaker 1: moved by that conversation and the genuineness and the authenticity
- 27:50Speaker 1: of like the very deep, real work that she's done
- 27:54Speaker 1: on herself. So we started the morning. My day was from,
- 27:57Speaker 1: I think I did interviews from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,
- 28:01Speaker 1: which is a long day. But I really wasn't tired.
- 28:06Speaker 1: And it just reminded me, I kind of activated all
- 28:11Speaker 1: the muscle memory from my FM radio days and hosting
- 28:14Speaker 1: concerts and events and just having those really kind of
- 28:17Speaker 1: long days where you're in it and but it was amazing.
- 28:22Speaker 1: It was amazing. So we also had a great panel
- 28:25Speaker 1: about overcoming self-doubt, which we had with Africa Brooke, with
- 28:29Speaker 1: Vex King and Dr. Sarah Kubrick, also known as the
- 28:32Speaker 1: millennial therapist. We had emotional intelligence panel with Dr. Mark Brackett,
- 28:41Speaker 1: with Dr. Julie Smith, with Sarenda Swan. We did a
- 28:45Speaker 1: men's panel with Jason Fox, Bobby Rich, Jordan Stevens. We
- 28:50Speaker 1: did a science panel with Dan Buettner from the Blue Zones,
- 28:55Speaker 1: with Dr. Dawn Musalem, who is just a mind-blowingly inspiring woman,
- 29:02Speaker 1: and Dr. Tara Swart. And then we did this really
- 29:05Speaker 1: amazing women's health conversation with Dr. Natalie Crawford, with Dr.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Stacey Sims, and Dr. Hazel Wallace. And I also had
- 29:14Speaker 1: this amazing fireside chat with renowned athlete, soccer player, Alex Scott.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And she is brilliant, based in the UK and just
- 29:27Speaker 1: an absolute legend in the UK and in soccer globally.
- 29:31Speaker 1: But I love when I get to sit with people
- 29:36Speaker 1: who have done the work in really deep stories. ways.
- 29:41Speaker 1: So we have this really powerful talk about boundaries and
- 29:46Speaker 1: about what it takes to kind of say yes to
- 29:49Speaker 1: your new beginning that's uncertain, especially after you've had a
- 29:54Speaker 1: lot of success in something else that's now complete. So
- 29:58Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that a lot. Also, to be honest,
- 30:02Speaker 1: I just really love London, y'all. It was my second
- 30:07Speaker 1: time back in the last couple of years. And there's
- 30:11Speaker 1: this really, for anybody that loves to travel, I got
- 30:14Speaker 1: to put you on, cannot keep this hotel. I think
- 30:17Speaker 1: it just opened this year. It's called St. Clement's Hotel.
- 30:20Speaker 1: It's in central London. Thank me later. Book there. It is,
- 30:27Speaker 1: as someone that, travels a ton, takes like 45 flights
- 30:30Speaker 1: a year. And especially I travel and I stay at
- 30:33Speaker 1: a lot of like wellness styled properties. I have to
- 30:37Speaker 1: say this is one of the favorite places I have
- 30:40Speaker 1: ever stayed in my life, any country, any city. It
- 30:46Speaker 1: was so nourishing, so nourishing. And I felt so cared
- 30:53Speaker 1: for because one thing that I can't stand in life
- 30:55Speaker 1: right now is constantly being overcharged, especially when it's like unwarranted,
- 31:01Speaker 1: like constantly having fake, exorbitant prices put on things, like
- 31:07Speaker 1: having just like, I don't know, capitalism has been on
- 31:13Speaker 1: a million the last couple of years. And so like
- 31:16Speaker 1: having an experience there that was so comforting and nourishing
- 31:21Speaker 1: and like decadent, but generous, they had like this huge
- 31:25Speaker 1: medicine cabinet in the bathroom. The bathrooms are gorgeous, huge tubs.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You already know I had Epsom salt. I was taking baths.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I opened the medicine cabinet and it was filled with
- 31:37Speaker 1: all of these full-sized products and everything you could ever
- 31:41Speaker 1: hope to have in a bathroom. And when I was
- 31:44Speaker 1: walked in and kind of shown around, the gentleman who
- 31:49Speaker 1: was showing me from the hotel was like, oh, and
- 31:51Speaker 1: just so you know, Everything in the medicine cabinet, it's yours.
- 31:55Speaker 1: It's free. Use all of it. And if you want extras,
- 31:58Speaker 1: we'll bring them. And I was like, that's my love language.
- 32:03Speaker 1: And then like, yeah, just all the snacks, everything. It
- 32:05Speaker 1: was like stuff you didn't have to think about. The
- 32:08Speaker 1: quality was amazing. And you just felt deeply cared for.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And in this day and age where pricing can be
- 32:16Speaker 1: so exorbitantly overpriced, Or even, you know, sometimes when you're
- 32:21Speaker 1: doing rentals and it's like they're charging you a fortune
- 32:25Speaker 1: and then you're also being asked to like clean it
- 32:27Speaker 1: from top to bottom before you check out. Having that
- 32:31Speaker 1: traditional lost art of an experience of having phenomenal hospitality
- 32:38Speaker 1: and being treated fairly for great quality. Listen, that's what
- 32:45Speaker 1: I'm on. That is what I am on right now.
- 32:49Speaker 1: And so it was really, it just was really nourishing
- 32:52Speaker 1: staying there. So highly recommend it. Anybody that wants to go, unfortunately,
- 32:57Speaker 1: I don't have a code and I'm not getting paid
- 32:59Speaker 1: to say any of this, but I love it. And
- 33:01Speaker 1: if it kind of fits your vibe, I hope you'll
- 33:04Speaker 1: enjoy it when you go. But I've been getting a
- 33:07Speaker 1: lot of people to ask me, how can I participate
- 33:09Speaker 1: in Wellness Oasis, either as a volunteer, to attend as
- 33:14Speaker 1: a guest, or to even be a speaker? And so
- 33:17Speaker 1: I say, please check out where we're going to be.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Go to Wellness Oasis, search it online, 4badvisory. com, and you'll
- 33:26Speaker 1: be able to see where our next setups are going
- 33:29Speaker 1: to be, where we're going to be in the world.
- 33:31Speaker 1: And then there is space on there to inquire. So
- 33:34Speaker 1: I highly, highly, highly suggest you do that as we
- 33:37Speaker 1: get ready to move forward with the three days that
- 33:41Speaker 1: we're going to be launching at Art Basel in Miami
- 33:45Speaker 1: this year, which is in December. So throwing that out there,
- 33:49Speaker 1: because I know I have a lot of people, a
- 33:52Speaker 1: lot of folks have reached out. And so you should
- 33:55Speaker 1: come check it out. It's really, really, really special. Also,
- 33:59Speaker 1: if you're going to be in the New York or
- 34:01Speaker 1: tri-state area, October 10th, currently the year is 2026. So
- 34:07Speaker 1: October 10th, I'll be joining my brother, Charlemagne the God,
- 34:12Speaker 1: at the Mental Wealth Expo. He and I have been
- 34:16Speaker 1: programming this year. We are both going to be hosting.
- 34:18Speaker 1: This is for his incredible nonprofit called the Mental Wealth Alliance.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I've been a founding board member on there for the
- 34:26Speaker 1: last six years. This expo blows my mind every year.
- 34:30Speaker 1: We have phenomenal speakers, and we're doing it workshop style.
- 34:34Speaker 1: So we usually bring in, over the last five years,
- 34:38Speaker 1: 3,000 to 5,000 people join us. We're doing it at
- 34:44Speaker 1: the Joan and Diane Bloom Wellness Center Stadium in New Jersey.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Also just go to the Mental Wealth Expo to look
- 34:59Speaker 1: up all the details for sure. They're also on my
- 35:02Speaker 1: Instagram page. But I'm really excited at the conversations that
- 35:06Speaker 1: we're going to be having there. We have amazing minds
- 35:08Speaker 1: joining us. We have Kier Gaines. We have Dr. Jay Barnett.
- 35:13Speaker 1: We have Dr. Elliot Connie, Dr. Rita Walker. We have Dr.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Iyanla Van Zandt is going to be joining us this
- 35:21Speaker 1: year on stage. Dr. Julius Thomas. We have my friends
- 35:25Speaker 1: Jovian Zane, who has an amazing new book that's out.
- 35:28Speaker 1: We have my friend Koya Webb, who's going to be
- 35:31Speaker 1: joining us. Just the list goes on and on and on,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but we're doing full workshops to actually learn and grow
- 35:38Speaker 1: and have time to practice tools. We're gonna have meditation,
- 35:42Speaker 1: we're gonna have breath work, we're gonna have deep conversations
- 35:45Speaker 1: about the realities of mental illness, the realities of caregiving,
- 35:49Speaker 1: the realities of mental health and incarceration. We're gonna have
- 35:53Speaker 1: conversations about the community, about self-care, nervous system regulation, It's
- 35:59Speaker 1: going to be incredibly, incredibly special. So I hope to
- 36:02Speaker 1: see some of you out there listening there. Please stop
- 36:06Speaker 1: me if you come. Would love to meet you. And
- 36:09Speaker 1: I'm really just excited about... I am an in real
- 36:13Speaker 1: life person. And that is also like what my skill
- 36:18Speaker 1: set really leans into as someone that started working in
- 36:22Speaker 1: the community young and just doing radio and broadcasting really
- 36:26Speaker 1: young and, you know, just being... truly out and about
- 36:31Speaker 1: and in the streets and with the people, like that
- 36:33Speaker 1: has been my motivation my whole life in any career
- 36:36Speaker 1: that I've been in. And so it's been really beautiful
- 36:41Speaker 1: seeing how much, once again, that is valued. And so
- 36:46Speaker 1: I have been just feeling so alive out teaching in
- 36:52Speaker 1: the world. So excited to do more of that. Hope
- 36:55Speaker 1: to see you at these events. Check out the sub stack.
- 37:02Speaker 1: And I cannot wait, wait, wait to be with y'all
