- 0:05SPEAKER_01: You I'm a person who uh it lives in the world and has a phone, and when my phone rings, I look at who it is and I answer it or don't answer it accordingly.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: You are a person who lives in the world, yeah, who doesn't ever have your phone.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: You can't you don't answer your phone.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: Like answering your phone is not something which has ever happened when I've ever called you.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I've been on vacation and my phone has been saying SOS for most of this time because I'm in I'm I'm like in the woods.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: You can't talk when you're in the woods for eight minutes.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I'm right.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I'm in the woods.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I don't even have cell fell cell service and and I need strong service, so I can't, you know, so we hear every word because I don't know.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I'm skeptical of this excuse.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I'm exceptional.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I'm gaining like life knowledge so that I can share with the world.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Like right.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Well, this is more about like people like this, isn't it just when you're on vacation, like I've called you so many times and you just don't answer.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Your phone is like off.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's not even like you don't, it's like your phone is do you just do you keep your your ringer off all the time?
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: I usually I usually do.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I usually do I usually have my ring off, but why are we talking about this?
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Why why is that?
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: It's because it's curious to me.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I'm curious how people like it, you you are doing you're you're like focused in on editing work, so you can't bother with your phone ringing all the time, right?
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So you turn your phone off.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Me, I'm running around and you talk to everybody who's calling me.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: What are they calling?
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: What's broken?
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: So you run arrest, I don't.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: So like I'm just like glued to my phone.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: So when I call you and your phone's off, I'm like, why is this phone always off?
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: How are we supposed to do a podcast?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Because I'm in the middle of the the Yellowstone National Park and I don't have service.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: That's nice, though.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Are you still there?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: No, I'm now in Boulder, Colorado.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: But here's so here's my observation.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Here's the life lesson now.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Sorry, okay, sorry, go ahead.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: You know, I'll give you wasted you can have the rest of the podcast.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: We didn't waste anything.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: You wasted No, we had to straighten that out.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: I was upset with you for never for having your phone off, and now I kind of get it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking about it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: I just said it was success.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: All I could do is like 911.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: So okay, so here's the thing.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: We're we're at Yellowstone and they have these geysers, and I'm I'm amazed at people.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: People amaze me.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So we're at these geysers, and um this this so we're all sitting there waiting for this geyser to go off, and the geyser goes off, and this woman steps in front of everybody and turns around to get her picture taken in front of the geyser.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: So everyone's like, move, move out of the way.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: So she We don't want you in our picture of the geyser.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Well, but so but here's the interesting part.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: So then she moved closer to her photographer and she was out of the way of everybody, but then she just sat there with her back to the geyser.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Getting her picture taken, and then she would grab the phone, she would look at the pictures, she would ask take it again.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I didn't understand.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: She was spoken a different language, but and then so she stood there with her back to the geyser, never looking at the geyser.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: The only thing she was concerned about is her picture in front of the geyser.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: That was it.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: She never watched, looked at it once.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Did that and that was like you're that was driving you crazy, huh?
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Well, just and then I started noticing, so then I started thinking about that and noticing we'd we'd go to an overlook, right, to look at something, and people would walk down, turn their back to the overlook, take their photo, and then walk away.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: It was like, you know, some of these you had hike to, right?
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: You're you spend 10 minutes or 20 minutes hiking, you get to the thing you're supposed to look at, and all you care about is turning your back to the thing that you're supposed to look at, get your picture, and then you leave.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And the only thing that matters is your picture in front of the thing that you never even looked at once.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, yeah, I get it.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a weird weird.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm not saying I didn't, I took pictures, I took all kinds of pictures, but I also spent some time to look at the thing that I was supposed to look at.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: So at least I could say, I mean, I because I wanted to look at the waterfall or whatever it was.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so I bet it was pretty there.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: It was very pretty.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: It's very pretty.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: And and well, and that's what and that's what was, and I was actually that reminds me, and it's a different, it's totally different, but it reminds me of when we were on vacation in Santa Fe and you were behind the camera the whole time filming everything that was going on.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: And I was like, dude, get away from the camera and just have a vacation.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Like, this is your life filming stuff, and it's hard for you to step outside of your normal life of filming everything.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I'm like, you're not even going to be able to do it.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: That's a little different.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I told you it was different.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: I told you right from the start.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: I said this is different.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: I said it reminds me.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Us walking away.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: I said it reminds me.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: It just reminded me because it was the the the I was just like, I can't, he can't get from behind the camera.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: But you ended up making a really cute little video.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Well, but see, you know, this this also so that was cool.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: That was really nice.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Caroline told me, but she wanted to see that again.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: She's like, Where can I see that?
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: I have to go find it somewhere.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You have to find it.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, that's different.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: That's a totally different thing.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: That's just somebody filming the activities of what hey, something happened to your voice.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Like something's happening.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Can you I can't hear you anymore?
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: It's like you're in the bottom of a well.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Well, that's like you went into a refrigerator.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: You're sounding like that too sometimes, but am I still sounding like that?
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I don't think it matters.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: This is really, really cutting-edge stuff.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I mean, if we did this for like another minute and a half, I think it would be really cutting edge.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I don't think that matters because it only matters what it sounds like on my end because I'm recording it.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, you don't think it's happening on the recording?
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: No.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: So get to get back to it.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I was filming everything, but I remember growing up, my grandfather had an eight-millimeter film camera and he filmed everything, and everybody hated it.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: But of course, now everybody loves it because he was filming things, and it's the only thing we have is grandpa's eight millimeter film of growing up.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: So yeah, that's sweet.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: No, and we have your film, which is nice.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: I wasn't trying to down dog down you, I was just saying it reminded me of that because you were frustrated with these people, and I remember being frustrated.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: That's all.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: What's dog down?
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: I don't I like that you filmed everything.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: You you were not frustrated with me filming.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: You were just so happy to be in front of my camera doing things and talking and saying fun lines and one or something.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I didn't know.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: There were times when I really did like I loved it.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: There were times when I loved it.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: You like the attention.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: You're probably just mad when I'm not sure.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: No, but then sometimes I'm just like, all right, I'm tired of that.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Like, let's turn turn off the uh the what's the show they call it?
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: The uh what was the show where the guy got filmed his whole life, everything he did, or he felt like he was getting filmed his whole life?
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, Truman, right?
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: The Truman Show?
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: The what The Truman Show?
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, is that what it was?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it was called the Truman Show.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I felt like my life was that.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, okay, I gotta get out of this, you know, internet w I mean uh video w world.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: But uh I I don't know, man.
