- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you. Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You are listening to the voice, Oh, come on now,
- 0:10Speaker 1: digny if you will. One and only, Steve Harvey got
- 0:13Speaker 1: a radio show, you know, one of the things about
- 0:19Speaker 1: being successful. And I was sharing this just the other
- 0:21Speaker 1: day with a young man and he asked me. He said, hey, man,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I just don't see how you get up that early
- 0:31Speaker 1: in the morning. I just don't see how, man, it
- 0:34Speaker 1: would kill me to get up this early in the morning. Well,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I sat there and I'm listening to it because it's
- 0:40Speaker 1: just a thousand times I've heard it, you know, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: my life is, you know, not too different from a
- 0:45Speaker 1: lot of people's lives. There's a lot of people out
- 0:48Speaker 1: there that rise early. And I just sit there, man,
- 0:51Speaker 1: because I mean, first of all, I'm grateful to be
- 0:54Speaker 1: able to have a job. I'm so grateful to be
- 0:56Speaker 1: able to do one and several that I happened to
- 0:59Speaker 1: enjoy doing. And I mean, you know, it's work and
- 1:01Speaker 1: it's difficult at times, but I mean, you know I
- 1:04Speaker 1: wanted this. You know you got it. You know, you
- 1:06Speaker 1: can't ask God for nothing, any give it to you,
- 1:08Speaker 1: then be mad that you got it. Don't make no sense.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You know. The problem with asking God for stuff is
- 1:14Speaker 1: a lot of times we ask it for stuff we
- 1:16Speaker 1: don't really know what all it encompasses, what all it
- 1:18Speaker 1: really is. And I ask for this. Now along the way,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I've gotten far more than I asked for. I want
- 1:24Speaker 1: you to do. Understand that, and you know that's His
- 1:28Speaker 1: grace at work in my life. But I get up
- 1:31Speaker 1: early and I go to work because I do understand
- 1:34Speaker 1: something that it is not walking up to you. Nobody
- 1:37Speaker 1: walks up to people normally and just hand them checks
- 1:41Speaker 1: all the time, and enough checks to sustain your life,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and not only sustain it, but to have a life
- 1:47Speaker 1: that where you could enjoy and do some of the
- 1:49Speaker 1: things you want to do. I don't know the person
- 1:52Speaker 1: that walks out hands out that money just to be
- 1:54Speaker 1: doing it. And then with a lifestyle though where you
- 1:57Speaker 1: can you know, give your kids a cariser, you know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: take your family on vacation, you know, a year, once
- 2:03Speaker 1: a year. I don't know nobody passing out to kind
- 2:05Speaker 1: of money. So I get up early in the morning.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I get at it. I was taught to get up
- 2:10Speaker 1: early in the morning by my father because my father
- 2:14Speaker 1: says ain't nothing gonna come to you while you lay
- 2:17Speaker 1: in there. And you know what, it's just true, man,
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's just a little common sense. Little old people smart man.
- 2:23Speaker 1: They've been around a long time. You don't get you know,
- 2:25Speaker 1: some old foods out there, but you know you don't
- 2:27Speaker 1: have to deal with them. But old people are pretty smart, man.
- 2:30Speaker 1: They've learned a lot along the way. And waking up
- 2:32Speaker 1: early and getting out it is one of them things.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And I ask everybody man to think about this scenario
- 2:37Speaker 1: of your life. If a day has twenty four hours
- 2:40Speaker 1: in it, and let's just say you choose to sleep
- 2:44Speaker 1: eight of those hours because they tell you you need
- 2:48Speaker 1: eight hours sleep, so you sleep eight hours. That's a
- 2:52Speaker 1: third of your life asleep. Already, just a third of
- 2:56Speaker 1: your life is spent asleep if you gonna do eight
- 2:59Speaker 1: hours a day. Now, let's say you have a job
- 3:02Speaker 1: that you work eight hours, and it is not the
- 3:05Speaker 1: job of your dreams. It's not your dream career, your
- 3:07Speaker 1: dream profession. It's just the one you took, like all
- 3:10Speaker 1: of us, to get it started. And then, like all
- 3:13Speaker 1: of us, some of us end up having to state
- 3:15Speaker 1: that because we've created these bills, because we checked and checked.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So we can't leave it because we'll lose what we've
- 3:21Speaker 1: worked for. So let's just say you got a job
- 3:23Speaker 1: that you go to work to for eight hours. That's
- 3:26Speaker 1: another third of your life. That's two thirds of your life.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Feel how you want to feel about your two thirds? Well,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I like sleep. Okay, cool, there's a scripture about that too.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But now you spent two thirds of your life one
- 3:38Speaker 1: on a job you don't care for if you're not
- 3:40Speaker 1: happy that it, or one that just pays the bills
- 3:42Speaker 1: and it's not your dream job or career. Another third
- 3:44Speaker 1: of your life is sleep. Oh now, let's hold on.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Let's talk about the one hour of preparation that it
- 3:50Speaker 1: may take to get to the job. That's seventeen hours.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Let's say your drive time, let's say getting to your
- 3:56Speaker 1: job for the average person is anywhere between thirty to
- 4:00Speaker 1: an hour. That's an average of what it takes to
- 4:03Speaker 1: average person. Now some people are there hustling way harder
- 4:05Speaker 1: than that. But let's just say your average is an
- 4:07Speaker 1: hour getting to work. You add another hour to that
- 4:11Speaker 1: going to work. You've now spent eighteen hours out of
- 4:16Speaker 1: the twenty four doing something that's either nonproductive, you're not
- 4:21Speaker 1: happy with, you're not pleased about. It is not your
- 4:24Speaker 1: dream job, it's not your dream profession. And rest of
- 4:26Speaker 1: the time you sleep eighteen hours. Now you got to
- 4:29Speaker 1: come from the job, so let's just say it's another
- 4:31Speaker 1: hour to get back home. That's nineteen hours. Nineteen hours
- 4:34Speaker 1: out of a twenty four hour day. You now have
- 4:36Speaker 1: five hours left in your day. Oh you watch TV
- 4:40Speaker 1: two hours a day. Okay, excuse me. Let's put now
- 4:43Speaker 1: you put two hours of TV on that you've just
- 4:45Speaker 1: spent twenty one. You now have three hours in the
- 4:49Speaker 1: day to do something super productive for the development of
- 4:54Speaker 1: yourself and the future of your family, and your future
- 4:57Speaker 1: as a person and what you can provide for your family.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Uh Oh, I need to chill. I need to smoke one.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Uh Oh, I needed some time at Happy. I'll seem
- 5:10Speaker 1: like all I do is dry to work and go
- 5:12Speaker 1: to work. I'm gonna go out with the fellas drink one. Okay,
- 5:17Speaker 1: let's say you spend two hours at Happy. Ill nobody
- 5:20Speaker 1: go to a Happy Hours just for a hour. Let's
- 5:22Speaker 1: say you spend two hours at Happy, I'll all smokeing
- 5:25Speaker 1: all some video games. Let's throw that in there. Two
- 5:27Speaker 1: hours of smoking, chilling video games. That's twenty three hours
- 5:31Speaker 1: of your day gone. Don't you see how your day
- 5:33Speaker 1: slips away from you? So why would you get up early?
- 5:38Speaker 1: You get up early to get a jump. You get
- 5:41Speaker 1: up early to produce, to plan, to become productive. You
- 5:46Speaker 1: get up early in the morning to care about every
- 5:48Speaker 1: single minute of your day. You wake up early in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the morning because you have a plan, a mission, You
- 5:55Speaker 1: have something you want to accomplish. The earlier you get up,
- 5:58Speaker 1: the more time you have just for you to devote
- 6:00Speaker 1: to your plan. You map it out, you make them,
- 6:03Speaker 1: send some emails, whatever it is you need to do
- 6:06Speaker 1: to get your dream on the way. Then you go
- 6:09Speaker 1: get ready. Then you get in your car and go
- 6:12Speaker 1: to work. Then you go to your job, but on
- 6:14Speaker 1: your job, instead of sitting at your lunch break messing
- 6:17Speaker 1: around with a bunch of people laughing and talking about nothing,
- 6:20Speaker 1: playing dominoes, why don't you take that hour to do
- 6:22Speaker 1: some more research, to send out some more emails, to
- 6:26Speaker 1: put some feelings out there, to see what can get
- 6:28Speaker 1: you in the place that you want to be. Then
- 6:31Speaker 1: when you get off, instead of driving straight home, why
- 6:34Speaker 1: don't you go somewhere in a meeting you take in
- 6:37Speaker 1: a session with some people in a positive mental state,
- 6:39Speaker 1: group of people that get together network for business, not
- 6:42Speaker 1: drink at happy hour, I said, network for business. So
- 6:46Speaker 1: after you've done that eight that you don't really care
- 6:48Speaker 1: for on a job, you spend some more time pursuing,
- 6:51Speaker 1: looking into researching, working towards, sending out some more applications,
- 6:57Speaker 1: putting in some more time to build your new app
- 7:00Speaker 1: discussing some more networking ideas. Okay, that's your happy hour.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Then when you go home, instead of chilling, drinking one,
- 7:07Speaker 1: having a cold, one, smoking one, playing a video game,
- 7:11Speaker 1: why don't you take that two hours and devote that
- 7:14Speaker 1: to that business idea. You got to that family that
- 7:17Speaker 1: you talk about, You really want spend some time with
- 7:20Speaker 1: your children, put something into them. Do something. Man, with
- 7:24Speaker 1: all these precious hours that God gives all of us
- 7:27Speaker 1: in the course of a day, take advantage of every
- 7:30Speaker 1: minute of that. No human being has more than twenty
- 7:33Speaker 1: four hours a day, including myself. But if you care
- 7:38Speaker 1: about every single minute of that day, you'll be amazed
- 7:41Speaker 1: at how much you could get accomplished in a twenty
- 7:44Speaker 1: four hour day. But you can't get none of that
- 7:47Speaker 1: happening because you sleep and you chilling and you smoking. Okay,
- 7:53Speaker 1: what has that done for you, your family, or your future.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Care about every minute of your daystening to the Steve
