- 0:01Speaker 1: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion

- 0:08Speaker 1: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:41Speaker 3: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:42Speaker 4: I am Brian.
- 0:43Speaker 5: This is Roger. I'm Joni.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I'm Misty. I'm Jay.
- 0:46Speaker 5: I like how you wave, Joni. Waving on the radio.
- 0:49Speaker 6: It's always fun.
- 1:08Speaker 5: So yeah, we could be joined later by another cast member.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:13Speaker 7: Possibly.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 1:14Speaker 5: If they haven't gotten lost.
- 1:16Speaker 8: Good luck with that.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Yeah, really. Alright, so we will roll on into this
- 1:20Speaker 5: week's geek activities. Mine, I actually for once watched a
- 1:24Speaker 5: few things, which is unusual for me. TV, I don't
- 1:28Speaker 5: watch much, but this week somehow I saw the new
- 1:31Speaker 5: show coming on and I thought I would watch it
- 1:32Speaker 5: because it looks interesting. I saw The Good Guys.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Have you seen the commercials for this? Oh, it's yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 7: It's like good fellows, but the TV show, no, this
- 1:42Speaker 7: is just.
- 1:42Speaker 5: A weird cop show, but it's, it's got a goofy
- 1:46Speaker 5: sense of humor. So I wanted to see how they
- 1:47Speaker 5: did it. It's, it's not bad. It's, it's got, um,
- 1:50Speaker 5: Colin Hanks in it. And yeah, I guess that's, um,
- 1:52Speaker 5: Bradley Whitford is like the main guy you'll recognize him,
- 1:56Speaker 5: but I don't, you know, I'm not, it's one of those,
- 1:58Speaker 5: you're not really super familiar with him, but you sort
- 2:00Speaker 5: of recognize them. So yeah, it's, To me, it plays like,
- 2:04Speaker 5: do you remember Stroker and Hoop?
- 2:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 5: It's kind of like a cop version, like a live
- 2:08Speaker 5: action cop version of that, only not so over the
- 2:11Speaker 5: top and ridiculous, which I kind of like Stroker. As
- 2:16Speaker 5: ridiculous as it got, I kind of enjoyed that level.
- 2:18Speaker 5: This doesn't get anywhere near that level. It plays it
- 2:21Speaker 5: more like a regular cop drama, but the only thing
- 2:23Speaker 5: is it's the main guy in that. Stroker is pretty
- 2:27Speaker 5: similar to the main cop in this. He's definitely got
- 2:29Speaker 5: this very cocky attitude. I believe in the middle of
- 2:35Speaker 5: the first investigation they go to, he pretty much scores
- 2:39Speaker 5: with the lady they were questioning.
- 2:41Speaker 7: Nice.
- 2:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it's one of those kind of shows. The real
- 2:45Speaker 5: thing I took from it is Colin Hanks is completely
- 2:49Speaker 5: crossed over to looking like his dad.
- 2:51Speaker 8: That's not a good thing.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Well, no, that's the thing. Tom, when he was young,
- 2:54Speaker 5: was fine. He looked like a normal guy. He was handsome,
- 2:57Speaker 5: I guess, when he was in his 20s. But now
- 2:59Speaker 5: he just looks like an old version of Tom Hanks.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Colin Hanks skipped that step. He went from looking really
- 3:05Speaker 5: weird and awkward when he was young to now looking
- 3:07Speaker 5: like his old father. Oh, wow.
- 3:09Speaker 7: He just jumped that whole middle.
- 3:10Speaker 4: He looked good.
- 3:11Speaker 5: He looked like a good looking thing. He never, yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 5: he never got that. He was just sort of like awkward.
- 3:15Speaker 5: And now it's like as he gets older, he also
- 3:18Speaker 5: is looking more like Dylan Baker. You remember the crazy
- 3:21Speaker 5: dad in Trick or Treat?
- 3:22Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 5: He's also looking like him, so he looks like the
- 3:25Speaker 5: love child between Tom Hanks and Dylan Baker.
- 3:27Speaker 8: Oh, gross.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Which is not really what you're going for as a
- 3:30Speaker 5: leading man in Hollywood, which is probably why.
- 3:32Speaker 8: What are you talking about? That's hot.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Okay, that's all you.
- 3:34Speaker 7: The last thing I saw him in was Band of Brothers,
- 3:37Speaker 7: and he was, like, young and that.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I've seen him in a couple of
- 3:40Speaker 5: different movies. I don't think he's ever going to get
- 3:43Speaker 5: to his dad's level of stardom, but few actors will, so,
- 3:47Speaker 5: you know. he's he's kind of got that loaded situation
- 3:50Speaker 5: of never being able to you know be live up
- 3:53Speaker 5: to what his father did so which you.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Will always be judged and yeah to your whole life unfortunately.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Which is yeah it's what i mean i think he
- 4:00Speaker 5: seems to have dealt with it better than a lot
- 4:03Speaker 5: of kid actor i think he realizes that and just
- 4:05Speaker 5: isn't even gonna try he's just gonna take whatever roles
- 4:07Speaker 5: he seems to like and He's the straight guy in
- 4:10Speaker 5: this one. He's there to sort of react to all
- 4:12Speaker 5: the ridiculous stuff the other guy does. So it's sort
- 4:14Speaker 5: of entertaining, I guess, for cheesy TV cop dramas.
- 4:18Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Although, well, it's a stupid comedy, but it's not near
- 4:22Speaker 5: as slapsticky and over-the-top as it could be. It's actually
- 4:24Speaker 5: got a decent city humor, so it's watchable.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Anything's better than Sipowicz's ass.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Got it. I do not need that ever.
- 4:31Speaker 7: I'm loving my PD crew. Yeah, that's good.
- 4:34Speaker 8: Especially because, oh, what's his name? From CSI Miami.
- 4:39Speaker 10: Caruso?
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Oh, Caruso. I've never seen Caruso.
- 4:42Speaker 7: I like Caruso.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I've always liked Caruso.
- 4:44Speaker 8: I feel like the dramatic sunglasses. If I die or
- 4:46Speaker 8: go missing, he's going to find me.
- 4:49Speaker 11: I actually have instructions on to call him and let
- 4:53Speaker 11: him know that that's what he's going to have to do.
- 4:55Speaker 8: Tony has to bring his sunglasses, too.
- 4:57Speaker 5: You have the Caruso hotline number?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Other than that, I watched... I, for some reason, actually
- 5:03Speaker 5: sat down and watched movies. I think because I was
- 5:05Speaker 5: going to watch other things, and I never make it
- 5:07Speaker 5: through the stuff I set out to watch, but if
- 5:09Speaker 5: I accidentally watch movies, I'll see plenty of them. So, yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 5: I ended up watching two movies in a row, and
- 5:14Speaker 5: it's a fitting double feature, actually, as it goes on.
- 5:17Speaker 5: I saw The Babysitters, which... I don't know if you
- 5:20Speaker 5: know anything about it. I've heard of this, and I
- 5:22Speaker 5: knew it's speaking of John Leguizamo, as we have the
- 5:25Speaker 5: last few weeks. This is one of his more dramatic roles.
- 5:28Speaker 5: It's him playing a straight character. Is that allowed? Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 5: that's the thing. He does that pretty good. I wish
- 5:33Speaker 5: he would do more of that and not the stupid
- 5:35Speaker 5: acting that he occasionally does. Not the best. Thank you.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I specifically singled out The Pest as one of the
- 5:40Speaker 5: worst movies ever. So, yeah, this has him in it,
- 5:45Speaker 5: but I'd seen the box, and I didn't really know
- 5:47Speaker 5: what it was about. Whoa. Yeah, once you get into it,
- 5:50Speaker 5: I'm like, ah, this is just making me feel dirty.
- 5:54Speaker 8: Which is what you usually go for.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess. But this is just, yeah, it enters
- 5:58Speaker 5: into a very uncomfortable territory. Whereas, and if we all
- 6:02Speaker 5: need to watch this, hey, we'll load it up. But yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 5: it's basically the, it starts off with him and he
- 6:07Speaker 5: hires like a girl from the high school to be
- 6:09Speaker 5: the babysitter. And as happens in a lot of these situations,
- 6:13Speaker 5: he takes her home one night and they have a
- 6:14Speaker 5: whole little thing. That's not that big of a deal.
- 6:17Speaker 5: Then it enters into this weird territory where he tells
- 6:22Speaker 5: a friend about it, and the friend wants a babysitter.
- 6:25Speaker 5: So then she sets that guy up. I remember this.
- 6:28Speaker 5: She sets that guy up with her friend from school,
- 6:30Speaker 5: and then quickly she's got a whole little bevy of
- 6:33Speaker 5: babysitters that she's sending out. She's pimping out the babysitters.
- 6:35Speaker 5: She's pimping out the babysitters. It enters into a really
- 6:39Speaker 5: weird little area there.
- 6:40Speaker 7: Is it kind of like call girl babysitting?
- 6:42Speaker 5: Yeah, not so much. because they do still babysit the
- 6:46Speaker 5: kids so it is really a nice you know double
- 6:49Speaker 5: double feature to throw there.
- 6:50Speaker 8: That's pretty convenient i need to look into that.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Yeah i'm sure that would work pretty well but yeah
- 6:55Speaker 5: midway in you're just like oh this is not fun
- 6:58Speaker 5: well i don't know it's i mean it's a good
- 7:00Speaker 5: movie but it's just like you yeah you feel you
- 7:02Speaker 5: feel very dirty midway into it so um As if that.
- 7:06Speaker 5: And that's what I was thinking. I was like, by
- 7:07Speaker 5: the end of this, I'm just like, ugh. Is there
- 7:09Speaker 5: anything that could make me feel worse than this movie? Uh-oh.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Followed it up with Requiem for a Dream.
- 7:14Speaker 9: Oh, man.
- 7:15Speaker 5: We were talking about that.
- 7:17Speaker 8: And you didn't split your wrist off of it?
- 7:19Speaker 5: Oh, the thing is, I think I felt more creeped
- 7:22Speaker 5: out by the first movie. Because at least I get
- 7:24Speaker 5: the creepiness of the first movie. You know, I'm a
- 7:26Speaker 5: pervy dude. But Requiem for a Dream, I just, it's
- 7:29Speaker 5: foreign to me. I don't do massive amounts of drugs.
- 7:32Speaker 5: So all of this is just like entertaining to me.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I'm just like, I'm watching it more for direction at
- 7:37Speaker 5: this point because he does do some really impressive stuff directing-wise.
- 7:42Speaker 5: I'm still amazed how much it crossed over into the
- 7:45Speaker 5: mainstream for as weird a movie as it is, just
- 7:47Speaker 5: for as visually weird as it is. The fact that
- 7:51Speaker 5: so many people have seen it, and so, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 5: it's a strange movie. It's pretty dirty and gritty. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 5: and then by that last half hour, you're just like, oh, shit. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 5: it's overwhelming. We'll have to watch it one day.
- 8:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I had no desire to watch this.
- 8:08Speaker 12: It's one of those, if you saw it, you never
- 8:10Speaker 12: did see it?
- 8:11Speaker 9: No.
- 8:11Speaker 5: No, it's good. It's like, I love Jennifer Connelly. I
- 8:14Speaker 5: had a crush on her when I was in high school.
- 8:16Speaker 7: That's what I love.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I was just like.
- 8:18Speaker 8: I don't like depressing movies.
- 8:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I was like, I don't want to see her
- 8:22Speaker 7: like this. Don't do it.
- 8:24Speaker 5: That's the thing. If it weren't... The old Japanese guy.
- 8:29Speaker 5: If it weren't Aronofsky, if it weren't so impressively done,
- 8:34Speaker 5: it would be one of those. It would be like,
- 8:35Speaker 5: I don't want to watch this. But it's so well
- 8:37Speaker 5: put together. that it really is worth dealing with. Scott,
- 8:41Speaker 5: what's his name? Scott Leto. Leto, your pretty boy. So
- 8:45Speaker 5: he was back when he was still pretty.
- 8:47Speaker 8: He gets offed. Jordan Catalano was hot. He's still pretty.
- 8:51Speaker 8: Depends on which hair he has.
- 8:52Speaker 7: He looks the same, doesn't he?
- 8:55Speaker 5: He is one of those that's holding up quite well.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Depends on how bloaty he is. He still looks like he's, like, 20. Yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 5: the bloaty's not hot.
- 9:01Speaker 11: What was that movie where he was the guy that
- 9:02Speaker 11: shot John Lennon?
- 9:04Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 7: And he was, like, fat. I did not recognize him
- 9:08Speaker 7: at all.
- 9:08Speaker 5: It's another one of those. I'll give him credit for
- 9:10Speaker 5: being an actor. I mean, he really did put on
- 9:12Speaker 5: a ton of weight specifically to play Hinkley.
- 9:15Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a weird movie. I watched it, and that's
- 9:19Speaker 5: all it's about.
- 9:21Speaker 8: And his band was actually okay.
- 9:23Speaker 5: I don't hate that band.
- 9:24Speaker 8: It's no Bacon Brothers.
- 9:27Speaker 7: Bacon Brothers?
- 9:28Speaker 8: Bacon Brothers.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Are you not familiar with the Bacon Brothers? No, I'm not.
- 9:31Speaker 8: Kevin Bacon and his brother.
- 9:32Speaker 5: In a band?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Really?
- 9:34Speaker 8: I'm not making it the Bacon Brothers.
- 9:35Speaker 5: It's been for a while.
- 9:36Speaker 8: I have the CD.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Really?
- 9:39Speaker 5: Yikes. I might have to give it a listen.
- 9:40Speaker 8: I'm not sure you're going to like it. I use
- 9:44Speaker 8: it as a coaster.
- 9:45Speaker 5: I'll take the Jared Leto band. So yeah, that uplifting
- 9:50Speaker 5: double feature this past week. Me being a person who's
- 9:53Speaker 5: already on most days be like, why do we even
- 9:55Speaker 5: fucking bother? you know then to you know wrap it
- 9:58Speaker 5: up the uh the weekend with that double feature that
- 10:01Speaker 5: didn't really help actually nice now you see why i
- 10:03Speaker 5: watch the disney channel to balance out my.
- 10:05Speaker 8: Life that and selena gomez is awesome.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Well she's freaking cool but other than that.
- 10:10Speaker 9: Yeah My boyfriend brought me a Selena Gomez sticker from
- 10:12Speaker 9: the Kroger this morning.
- 10:13Speaker 8: I was pretty excited.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Because she's awesome. Oh, my God. I left the house
- 10:16Speaker 5: wearing my pendant the other day.
- 10:17Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 10:19Speaker 5: I was like, you know, just for the hell of it.
- 10:21Speaker 8: Were you listening to the CD at the same time?
- 10:22Speaker 14: No.
- 10:23Speaker 7: Let's see if this sparks any conversation.
- 10:24Speaker 5: I kind of wanted to see if anybody went, is that?
- 10:27Speaker 5: Never mind.
- 10:28Speaker 7: Dude, I like her too.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Oh, God. So, yeah, that was pretty much it for me.
- 10:33Speaker 5: What else we got here?
- 10:34Speaker 7: Well, yeah, we did the rundown a couple minutes ago. Yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 7: that's right.
- 10:39Speaker 11: Nerf night, basically, is something that I like to set up.
- 10:43Speaker 11: My folks have a big house with mini rooms.
- 10:46Speaker 8: Pump parents don't listen to this.
- 10:47Speaker 5: No, they don't listen to the show. In their best
- 10:50Speaker 5: interest to not ever listen.
- 10:53Speaker 11: We always clean up and leave the house in better
- 10:54Speaker 11: shape than it was in the beginning.
- 10:56Speaker 5: No, we do, literally. Otherwise, it would be my head
- 10:58Speaker 5: on a stake.
- 10:59Speaker 8: If we ever need to blackmail you, we now have
- 11:02Speaker 8: the information.
- 11:03Speaker 7: You have lots of information to blackmail you with. But
- 11:06Speaker 7: we have an arsenal of the new Nerf guns that
- 11:09Speaker 7: Nerf guns now are like insane. There's fully automatic, you know, uh,
- 11:15Speaker 7: belt fed, um, they are begun chambered.
- 11:19Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 5: They're ridiculous.
- 11:21Speaker 7: The awesome.
- 11:22Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 7: And so we have like a small arsenal of this
- 11:25Speaker 7: and I get as many as my friends overs that,
- 11:27Speaker 7: you know, can make the drive and fit in their schedule.
- 11:30Speaker 7: And we run around and shoot each other Nerf style.
- 11:33Speaker 11: Kind of like paintball where we'll have capture the flag
- 11:37Speaker 11: or last night was capture the sword because we have
- 11:39Speaker 11: Nerf swords now.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Just to put it out there, you are 12 years old.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Just making sure everybody knows he is officially 12.
- 11:45Speaker 7: No matter who you are, instantly you'll be stuck on this.
- 11:48Speaker 8: It's so much fun.
- 11:49Speaker 5: It is so much fun.
- 11:49Speaker 7: It is almost criminal. So we did that last night
- 11:53Speaker 7: pretty much to the tits and it was awesome.
- 11:57Speaker 8: I was stuck under a bed for 20 minutes.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Literally?
- 12:00Speaker 8: Yeah, just like waiting.
- 12:01Speaker 7: Not stuck, more like, yeah, waiting to snipe.
- 12:06Speaker 5: That's dedication.
- 12:07Speaker 8: And then there were sword battles in the front yard.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Yeah, sword battles in the front yard.
- 12:10Speaker 11: And there were actually close combat kills during the Nerf
- 12:13Speaker 11: game where it's like, you know, the captains had the swords,
- 12:16Speaker 11: you know, designated or whatever.
- 12:17Speaker 8: I walked around with a sword. I was actually wearing
- 12:19Speaker 8: this last night.
- 12:20Speaker 7: You would have fun. You guys would have fun.
- 12:22Speaker 5: This is full-on battle mode.
- 12:24Speaker 7: But so that was last night, so we're just recovering
- 12:27Speaker 7: from that.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Ugh.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Battle wounds.
- 12:29Speaker 7: Geek wounds.
- 12:30Speaker 11: But through the past week, Joni, you've been getting me
- 12:33Speaker 11: into Supernatural pretty hard. And you are beginning to get
- 12:38Speaker 11: me into Stargate SG-1.
- 12:41Speaker 8: Oh, you're more geekified.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 8: As if he wasn't already geeking.
- 12:47Speaker 5: That's super level. Supernatural is like, actually a lot of
- 12:50Speaker 5: normal people kind of watch Supernatural. Stargate on the other hand.
- 12:54Speaker 8: The first season of Supernatural was pretty good.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 8: I'm up to season four right now. I just saw
- 12:59Speaker 8: the last episode and can't stop.
- 13:02Speaker 7: I'm stuck.
- 13:02Speaker 8: Just can't stop.
- 13:03Speaker 7: You got me stuck on it. It's awesome.
- 13:04Speaker 8: But Stargate is something that I've been watching for about, well,
- 13:07Speaker 8: since it came out.
- 13:09Speaker 5: It's a long time. I'm still amazed any version of
- 13:12Speaker 5: it is still on.
- 13:13Speaker 8: The universe isn't good. I don't really like Stargate universe,
- 13:17Speaker 8: but it's just too happy.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Well, here's my thing, and this is what I realized.
- 13:20Speaker 5: I haven't even watched hardly any of the show ever,
- 13:22Speaker 5: but I realized within that first season when MacGyver was
- 13:26Speaker 5: on it, I was just like... Actually, sadly, this is
- 13:28Speaker 5: better than the movie because the movie takes a turn
- 13:31Speaker 5: midway through and it sucks. But, like, the show, like,
- 13:34Speaker 5: just took the good idea of the movie and then
- 13:37Speaker 5: took it, you know.
- 13:38Speaker 8: Richard Dean Anderson is so good.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Yeah. He's always kind of fun.
- 13:42Speaker 8: I'm going to make MacGyver references in the show.
- 13:44Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 13:44Speaker 8: He giggles so much.
- 13:45Speaker 7: Yeah, it's totally awesome.
- 13:47Speaker 8: We were sitting on the couch yesterday and I was like,
- 13:49Speaker 8: you know, just so excited.
- 13:52Speaker 7: She was shaking.
- 13:54Speaker 8: I had a tale of doing this. It was awesome, yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 7: We'd go nuts.
- 13:58Speaker 11: But so on the TV front, that's what we listened.
- 14:01Speaker 7: To, watched.
- 14:03Speaker 4: And then.
- 14:04Speaker 8: Legend.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Legend, which is always.
- 14:06Speaker 8: Which I haven't seen in a really long time.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Freaking amazing.
- 14:09Speaker 11: And the new Friday the 13th, which we go over
- 14:13Speaker 11: to a friend's house, and that kind of just popped on,
- 14:15Speaker 11: and you're.
- 14:15Speaker 8: Like, hey, let's check this out. Which has Jason Paldecki
- 14:18Speaker 8: in it from Supernatural.
- 14:19Speaker 11: And I didn't even know who he was until after
- 14:21Speaker 11: watching Supernatural, and I'm like, oh, it is him.
- 14:25Speaker 8: And he didn't die. I'm okay because I like him.
- 14:27Speaker 5: I'm okay with that.
- 14:28Speaker 8: Yeah. Dean from Gilmore Girls.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Dean. He will always be Dean to me.
- 14:33Speaker 8: He's Dean from Gilmore Girls. That's what threw me off
- 14:34Speaker 8: and I couldn't get into Supernatural. He was called Dean
- 14:37Speaker 8: on Gilmore Girls and then he went to be in
- 14:39Speaker 8: Sam on Supernatural.
- 14:40Speaker 5: And his brother's Dean. Yeah, it threw me off.
- 14:43Speaker 8: I couldn't get into it.
- 14:43Speaker 5: I didn't know.
- 14:45Speaker 2: It.
- 14:45Speaker 8: I just had a rap.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Are you going to be okay? You've blown her mind.
- 14:50Speaker 8: We're going to have to watch something else. We're going
- 14:53Speaker 8: to get into Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls kicked ass.
- 14:58Speaker 5: It's an excellently written show. Even if it's super girly,
- 15:00Speaker 5: it's very well written.
- 15:01Speaker 8: I will give them that.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I'll definitely watch that.
- 15:08Speaker 12: I'll never see her in any other light besides bad Santa.
- 15:13Speaker 5: She's awesome in.
- 15:14Speaker 10: That, too.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Fuck me, Santa. Fuck me, Santa.
- 15:17Speaker 8: I've never seen this movie.
- 15:20Speaker 5: I think that's going to be our Christmas movie.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Nice.
- 15:22Speaker 5: That's it.
- 15:24Speaker 7: Better. Other than that, I think that was it.
- 15:26Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Because we were trying to, like, you know.
- 15:29Speaker 8: We were marathoning.
- 15:30Speaker 7: We were marathoning going nuts. But it was heavy geek
- 15:33Speaker 7: activity this week.
- 15:34Speaker 5: It was a good week.
- 15:36Speaker 8: Some wine geek activity.
- 15:38Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 8: Got some new wines.
- 15:39Speaker 11: If you like educated guests or layer cake, go out
- 15:43Speaker 11: and get some because it's delicious.
- 15:44Speaker 16: Yes.
- 15:45Speaker 7: Oh, and last night, watched some Bleach.
- 15:48Speaker 16: Oh, yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 7: You are a huge Bleach fan.
- 15:51Speaker 12: I am.
- 15:51Speaker 7: Which makes you much more awesome.
- 15:53Speaker 8: I wish I could be a soul reaper.
- 15:58Speaker 7: Maybe one day.
- 15:59Speaker 8: It makes me very sad that I can't kill people
- 16:01Speaker 8: in hollows.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:03Speaker 7: And get away with it.
- 16:04Speaker 5: You can kill people. I plant it all the time.
- 16:07Speaker 7: You look like a hollow to me.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Right?
- 16:10Speaker 11: So I cut your face in half. But, yeah, that
- 16:12Speaker 11: was pretty much it for us.
- 16:14Speaker 8: Yeah, we had to make a list of the stuff
- 16:16Speaker 8: that we had watched. We had forgotten.
- 16:18Speaker 5: It's been a long time. Yeah, you've been absent for
- 16:21Speaker 5: a long time. Yeah, I've been in the garage. I
- 16:24Speaker 5: finally got all my shit done.
- 16:25Speaker 9: We watched Sherlock Holmes, which Boyfriend has written down as
- 16:28Speaker 9: Sherlock Homeless because he can't spell.
- 16:30Speaker 8: But, yeah, I hated that movie.
- 16:32Speaker 5: I didn't like it.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Really?
- 16:33Speaker 8: I didn't like it. I absolutely, it was boring.
- 16:36Speaker 7: Guy Ritchie?
- 16:37Speaker 5: It was boring. I know, and I was kind of
- 16:39Speaker 5: disappointed by Guy Ritchie.
- 16:41Speaker 9: And I can tolerate What's-His-Face, Robert Downey Jr.
- 16:44Speaker 8: I like cocky, because I'm cocky.
- 16:47Speaker 9: But still, I don't like British cocky, because then it's
- 16:49Speaker 9: just obnoxious and boring, and I just didn't like it.
- 16:52Speaker 9: I didn't think it was that well-written. It was just
- 16:54Speaker 9: too much shit going on. Yeah, I didn't like it.
- 16:57Speaker 12: It had neat action in it, but part of the
- 16:59Speaker 12: thing that kind of annoyed me, and the same thing
- 17:02Speaker 12: that you said annoyed.
- 17:03Speaker 5: You, was where he's thinking through what I'm going to do.
- 17:06Speaker 17: I'll jab him in the solar plexus, and then I'll
- 17:10Speaker 17: poke him in the eyeballs, and then he'll try to
- 17:12Speaker 17: throw a wild haymaker, and I'll block that and counter
- 17:15Speaker 17: with whatever, and.
- 17:16Speaker 8: I'm like, is he saying that out loud?
- 17:18Speaker 12: Yeah, he's saying it out loud first in his mind,
- 17:21Speaker 12: and then he does it, and I'm like, dude, you
- 17:22Speaker 12: can't predict how another guy is going to react.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Especially to that detail. Yeah, I know.
- 17:26Speaker 8: It was incredibly obnoxious.
- 17:27Speaker 5: You don't have time to think about that in a fight, so...
- 17:30Speaker 5: It just happens. What I thought would have been cool,
- 17:33Speaker 5: and I also thought this when they first announced the casting,
- 17:35Speaker 5: I was like, I almost pictured the voles reversed. Like,
- 17:38Speaker 5: I almost saw Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes.
- 17:41Speaker 8: I hated him in this movie, too.
- 17:42Speaker 5: Robert Downey as the Watson. I think that would almost
- 17:44Speaker 5: be really interesting had they done that.
- 17:46Speaker 8: What do you think about this movie? There was nothing
- 17:48Speaker 8: that I liked.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 17:49Speaker 8: I haven't seen it. It was long. Oh, my dear fuck.
- 17:53Speaker 8: It was long.
- 17:53Speaker 5: I think visually it was good.
- 17:55Speaker 8: It looked good if you just want to sit there
- 17:57Speaker 8: for three and a half days.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Action-wise, it was good. But, like, as far as, like,
- 18:00Speaker 5: I guess the story was concerned.
- 18:02Speaker 2: The meat.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Yeah, the meat of the story. The potatoes. It was rancid. Mm-hmm.
- 18:06Speaker 9: And then we finally sat down and watched Iron Man
- 18:08Speaker 9: because we were on a Robert Downey Jr.
- 18:10Speaker 7: Role at that point.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I actually liked Iron Man.
- 18:12Speaker 7: Is that the first time you saw it?
- 18:13Speaker 5: It's the first time I've seen it.
- 18:15Speaker 7: It's really good.
- 18:16Speaker 5: I've been putting off seeing movies because I've kind of been.
- 18:19Speaker 12: Anti-robert downey jr since since uh fuck what's the name
- 18:23Speaker 12: of that movie always loved him always damn it weird
- 18:27Speaker 12: science weird science yeah he was always oh yeah he
- 18:29Speaker 12: was a jerk he reminded me of this guy in
- 18:30Speaker 12: high school and i was like fuck you.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Oh my god thank you that's going back a long
- 18:35Speaker 5: way to hold a grudge i have written.
- 18:37Speaker 12: You off oh dude i hold grudges against people for
- 18:40Speaker 12: for it.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Doesn't die i do but usually that's just in the real.
- 18:43Speaker 8: World Mine might expand all layers.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 18:48Speaker 8: It does.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Hers goes beyond time and space.
- 18:51Speaker 9: You finally convinced me to watch Predator.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:54Speaker 8: I had never realized.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 18:56Speaker 8: I've never seen all of it all the way through.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Oh, what?
- 18:58Speaker 7: It's over.
- 18:59Speaker 8: Now we're... I can't stand Arnold Schwarzenegger. I can't.
- 19:03Speaker 5: His one-liners are so terribly awesome.
- 19:05Speaker 7: They're so awesome.
- 19:06Speaker 8: It's ridiculous.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Stick to the road. Come on.
- 19:09Speaker 8: The movie was fun. I loved.
- 19:11Speaker 7: Jesse the Body?
- 19:12Speaker 5: No.
- 19:12Speaker 8: Sonny Landon. Sonny Landon.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Billy is cool. He was awesome. Which one to see?
- 19:19Speaker 7: He's the guy with the mask. The American Indian.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 7: Okay.
- 19:24Speaker 5: Billy.
- 19:26Speaker 8: He was awesome.
- 19:27Speaker 9: And then I made Jay watch a movie.
- 19:29Speaker 8: Was it Night Before Last?
- 19:31Speaker 5: Oh, good Lord, yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 8: Another sci-fi original. I'm a big fan.
- 19:36Speaker 5: I'm telling you, we need a theme song for this thing.
- 19:39Speaker 8: We watched High Plains Invaders.
- 19:43Speaker 9: It was a western starring James Marster.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Who's James Marster? Buffy.
- 19:50Speaker 9: Spike.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 5: As a cowboy.
- 19:52Speaker 8: I love that.
- 19:52Speaker 5: Setting a western with bugs.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Giant.
- 19:55Speaker 8: No. You didn't get it right.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Giant.
- 19:57Speaker 8: Spalien.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Spalien.
- 19:59Speaker 8: Alien space bugs.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Spanish bugs?
- 20:01Speaker 8: Giant alien space bugs. Hola. That were coming to this
- 20:07Speaker 8: small western town for their uranium.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Okay.
- 20:12Speaker 16: Sounds so good especially when Jay Marks just said I'm
- 20:15Speaker 16: telling you get.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Your hand off my uranium it was.
- 20:19Speaker 9: Awesome beyond words and then it was just so horrible
- 20:21Speaker 9: at the same time there was this one the bounty
- 20:24Speaker 9: hunter chick who talked like this the whole movie.
- 20:28Speaker 12: She had the best accent yeah you couldn't tell it
- 20:31Speaker 12: sounded like she had a mouthful of cheetos with the
- 20:35Speaker 12: southern drawl and that.
- 20:41Speaker 8: Was uttered several.
- 20:42Speaker 12: Times nice nice the guns were uh laser no not
- 20:46Speaker 12: period correct okay he.
- 20:48Speaker 8: Was calling them out too.
- 20:49Speaker 5: Yeah i was like these guns aren't even.
- 20:51Speaker 12: Correct they're not even using you're not even trying at this.
- 20:54Speaker 7: Point yeah they're bringing out like a long slide 45s
- 20:56Speaker 7: or something you've got a glow like one guy has
- 20:59Speaker 7: a cult python and somebody else has a what like
- 21:03Speaker 7: a 38 special.
- 21:05Speaker 5: And you've got a glock in the old west what
- 21:07Speaker 5: the fuck.
- 21:07Speaker 11: Yeah just because it's a wheel gun doesn't mean yeah exactly.
- 21:11Speaker 8: Somebody said find a revolver quick and i'm in the west.
- 21:14Speaker 9: Right yeah and i'm pretty sure at the end of
- 21:15Speaker 9: the movie when they were going they're going on the
- 21:17Speaker 9: road i'm pretty sure you get to the back of
- 21:18Speaker 9: the set.
- 21:19Speaker 12: Yeah, because you see they're outside the town, but you
- 21:22Speaker 12: can see the face of the main building and all
- 21:26Speaker 12: the wooden supports holding.
- 21:29Speaker 5: It up in the background.
- 21:30Speaker 8: Not even just once. You see it three or four times.
- 21:32Speaker 7: There's like a gripper, a gaffer wandering into the shop.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Did you miss the sci-fi at the beginning? You really
- 21:39Speaker 5: should have seen that coming.
- 21:40Speaker 8: I don't care. I love sci-fi movies. Sci-fi movies are awesome.
- 21:44Speaker 7: Dude's going to an ATM machine.
- 21:46Speaker 5: This is lot security.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Come on, it's iPhone.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Back up.
- 21:50Speaker 9: And then I watched Love Object, which was okay. It
- 21:53Speaker 9: was mediocre at best. It was about a guy who
- 21:56Speaker 9: kind of has a crush on a girl, but he
- 21:58Speaker 9: has no people skills whatsoever, so.
- 21:59Speaker 8: He finds a... Josh?
- 22:02Speaker 9: Yeah, who, what? So he orders this love doll or whatever,
- 22:07Speaker 9: and he has her made her look like the girl
- 22:09Speaker 9: he has.
- 22:09Speaker 8: A crush on.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I've got one of those on order. Oh, and
- 22:11Speaker 5: he never.
- 22:12Speaker 8: But then he actually goes out with the real girl.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Wait, does this have, like, somebody famous in it?
- 22:17Speaker 8: That's Desmond Harrington in it.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 22:19Speaker 9: Who's the guy who survives from Wrong Turn, which I
- 22:21Speaker 9: love Wrong Turn.
- 22:23Speaker 8: It was filmed in Eastern Kentucky.
- 22:25Speaker 5: The original long-term? I like two better than one.
- 22:29Speaker 7: Pretty much.
- 22:30Speaker 9: But yeah, so he falls in love with the love doll,
- 22:34Speaker 9: but then the real girl actually pays attention to him,
- 22:36Speaker 9: so he starts going out with her, and then the
- 22:37Speaker 9: love doll gets jealous.
- 22:39Speaker 7: Oh, those damn love dolls.
- 22:41Speaker 8: The love doll's jealous, and it's like calling him and
- 22:43Speaker 8: threatening him.
- 22:44Speaker 3: What?
- 22:45Speaker 7: Like, really, or in his mind? In his head, he's
- 22:47Speaker 7: fucked up.
- 22:48Speaker 5: Wow.
- 22:48Speaker 12: Is it like a Zuni fetish doll, the little gold
- 22:51Speaker 12: necklace fall off of it and he came to stab him?
- 22:53Speaker 9: Well, then he decides to kill the love doll, so
- 22:55Speaker 9: he kills her and cuts her into little bitty pieces.
- 22:57Speaker 5: And then, yeah. Oh, my God.
- 22:59Speaker 8: But then she's still calling and threatening him.
- 23:01Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 8: So he decides he wants her back, but then the
- 23:03Speaker 8: garbage has already came.
- 23:05Speaker 5: Oh! Sue's got touches of Roman in there, too.
- 23:07Speaker 7: Yeah, this is awesome.
- 23:09Speaker 9: So then he decides he's going to make, after the
- 23:12Speaker 9: credit card company rejects his order for his new love doll,
- 23:14Speaker 9: he decides he wants to make his own. So he's
- 23:16Speaker 9: going to plasticize the girl that he falls in love with,
- 23:19Speaker 9: the real girl.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Oh, God, Tori. Hurry it just into a love doll Wowzers.
- 23:23Speaker 9: Yeah it's a It's a Wow This is complicated That's
- 23:25Speaker 9: pretty tight Shenanigans Wackiness.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Ensues This is going way too far For sex.
- 23:29Speaker 9: Yeah I watched And then I watched Some fear It's
- 23:32Speaker 9: love It's not sex It's the love I watched some
- 23:35Speaker 9: episodes Of fear itself But I'll only get in One
- 23:37Speaker 9: of the episodes I watched Because it pissed me off
- 23:38Speaker 9: And I was It's very rare That I actually yell
- 23:41Speaker 9: At the TV For making me mad But it was
- 23:43Speaker 9: an episode I'm pretty sure It was called The Circle
- 23:45Speaker 9: It was about an author Who wrote a book And
- 23:46Speaker 9: all his friends Are at the party And he's pissed
- 23:48Speaker 9: some girl off So she put a curse on him
- 23:50Speaker 9: So his book's going to come true.
- 23:52Speaker 8: But anyway, the girl goes evil. And they try to
- 23:55Speaker 8: lock her. They said they're going to lock her in
- 23:56Speaker 8: the bathroom. The door opens in.
- 23:59Speaker 9: They decide to block her in the bathroom. They're going
- 24:01Speaker 9: to push her in, pull the door closed, and put
- 24:03Speaker 9: a chair underneath it.
- 24:05Speaker 8: Okay. And that holds her in. She has to break
- 24:09Speaker 8: the door down to get out.
- 24:10Speaker 12: Because she couldn't open the door in.
- 24:13Speaker 8: No.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 9: I was mad.
- 24:15Speaker 5: That only works with doors that open out.
- 24:18Speaker 8: I was dealing with the TV, but they weren't listening
- 24:20Speaker 8: to me.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Unless they did it on purpose. Somebody actually did that recently.
- 24:24Speaker 5: There's an older movie where they actually... have to do
- 24:28Speaker 5: that because of like just logistics of where they were
- 24:31Speaker 5: in the set at the time they had to set
- 24:33Speaker 5: it up that way even though if you're paying attention
- 24:34Speaker 5: the door opens in and then somebody recently did it
- 24:37Speaker 5: as like their own little homage to it they set
- 24:40Speaker 5: up their situation i think it was the coen brothers
- 24:41Speaker 5: did something like that in lebowski that set up like
- 24:44Speaker 5: it's yeah it is it's in lebowski yeah they did
- 24:46Speaker 5: the same thing and then they open the door and
- 24:48Speaker 5: the Chair just falls over. Yeah, so it was, yeah.
- 24:51Speaker 9: But the door didn't, that's the thing, the chair didn't fall,
- 24:54Speaker 9: the chair held the crazy bitch in there.
- 24:55Speaker 5: See, I think they just weren't paying attention. They weren't
- 24:57Speaker 5: like geniuses like the fucking Coen brothers. Maybe she was
- 25:00Speaker 5: just stupid.
- 25:01Speaker 9: I'm like, seriously, she had to break the door down.
- 25:03Speaker 9: Literally break her crazy ass out of the bathroom.
- 25:06Speaker 12: I've had to go unlock professors out of their offices
- 25:10Speaker 12: before because they refused to turn the knob to the right.
- 25:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 12: It's like the knob, whatever door it was, the knob
- 25:17Speaker 12: turned to the left to open.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Well, I shouldn't have to turn it to the left.
- 25:20Speaker 5: It should be turned to the right. Well, you're a dumbass.
- 25:22Speaker 5: That's how you get out of the power door.
- 25:23Speaker 9: Maybe when you're just possessed with evil, you can't fucking
- 25:26Speaker 9: function a doorknob properly.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I guess.
- 25:28Speaker 8: Hmm. Those guys are obsessed with evil.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Jesus.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Oh, well. Hmm.
- 25:33Speaker 8: Oh, I forgot to talk about we went to the
- 25:34Speaker 8: casino last night. I know. I wanted to go to
- 25:37Speaker 8: the casino.
- 25:38Speaker 10: I wish you guys would have told me that you
- 25:39Speaker 10: were going.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Good to lose money. Yeah, we would have been home
- 25:42Speaker 5: by the time we got out of there.
- 25:43Speaker 16: Oh, really?
- 25:43Speaker 5: That's not bad at all.
- 25:44Speaker 8: I only ever spend like $ 4 to $ 5. Me too.
- 25:47Speaker 8: I had to borrow a dollar from Brian.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I spent a whole dollar aside from the one
- 25:51Speaker 5: I gave you.
- 25:53Speaker 8: I was ahead for a while. I had like $ 4.
- 25:55Speaker 8: And then I was like, oh, I'm going to get more.
- 25:57Speaker 8: And then I lost it all.
- 25:58Speaker 7: Wow.
- 25:59Speaker 5: That's how they get you. That green took over.
- 26:01Speaker 7: That's how they get you.
- 26:02Speaker 8: Jesse won 44 cents.
- 26:03Speaker 18: Yep.
- 26:04Speaker 7: Ooh.
- 26:05Speaker 5: That's pretty exciting.
- 26:05Speaker 7: 44 cents ahead.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Nice.
- 26:07Speaker 9: I like the monster one because it's only $ 2.
- 26:10Speaker 8: It's two pennies for each credit.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Because we're cheap.
- 26:14Speaker 8: You get 50 credits for a dollar.
- 26:15Speaker 5: We are low-level gambling.
- 26:18Speaker 8: It's the best kind.
- 26:18Speaker 16: I once walked in with $ 5 and walked out with $ 45.
- 26:21Speaker 8: I felt pretty good about my life. Went and got
- 26:24Speaker 8: some lobster tail. Buffet style.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Went to Vegas and got some tail.
- 26:30Speaker 8: I won $ 20 once, but I didn't know it until
- 26:32Speaker 8: the lady next to me told me. I was like,
- 26:34Speaker 8: what's happening?
- 26:35Speaker 5: What's going on?
- 26:36Speaker 8: It's flashing lights and sounds and noise. Should I run?
- 26:40Speaker 5: All right, so now.
- 26:41Speaker 8: Hey, look, Marlena's here.
- 26:43Speaker 7: What did you do this week?
- 26:45Speaker 10: Oh, did Jay not go over his week's work?
- 26:47Speaker 5: I already went over it. I didn't do anything.
- 26:50Speaker 18: I actually watched quite a few movies. The first one,
- 26:54Speaker 18: which I thought was really awesome, it was an education.
- 26:58Speaker 18: It had Peter.
- 26:58Speaker 8: Sarsgaard, who I love.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Sarsgaard is awesome.
- 27:02Speaker 8: Everything he's in is awesome. I'm completely unfamiliar with him.
- 27:06Speaker 8: Is he the bad guy?
- 27:07Speaker 5: Um.
- 27:09Speaker 7: Peter Sarsgaard, he was in Jarhead as the other sniper,
- 27:13Speaker 7: like his spotter, I guess.
- 27:15Speaker 10: He was in The Orphan. He was the father in
- 27:17Speaker 10: The Orphan.
- 27:18Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 27:19Speaker 10: He's got this weird kind of handsome thing about him
- 27:21Speaker 10: that I like.
- 27:21Speaker 7: He's awesome.
- 27:22Speaker 10: Yeah, and he's just awesome.
- 27:24Speaker 18: So I was super excited about this movie because it
- 27:25Speaker 18: was set in the 1960s, which I love. And I
- 27:29Speaker 18: really like this movie, and it kind of had a
- 27:33Speaker 18: Lolita story, which I love, but it was just really good.
- 27:37Speaker 5: What's it called?
- 27:38Speaker 10: In Education.
- 27:39Speaker 7: In Education.
- 27:40Speaker 5: You've heard really good things. It was up for an
- 27:42Speaker 5: Oscar this past year.
- 27:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 8: Did you ever read my Lolita book? I did.
- 27:45Speaker 7: I need to bring it back.
- 27:46Speaker 8: Is it good?
- 27:47Speaker 7: It's really good.
- 27:48Speaker 5: Did you ever watch my Gator movie?
- 27:50Speaker 4: I did.
- 27:50Speaker 7: I need to bring that back. That was really sad.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Yeah, it's sad.
- 27:55Speaker 7: He was top of the world, and then he just.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Like I said, man, I was a huge Gator fan,
- 28:00Speaker 5: and I remember that ad.
- 28:02Speaker 12: In Transworld I think it was Transworld or Thrasher that
- 28:05Speaker 12: came out where he was Mark Anthony and everybody was.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Like dude fuck you man you sold.
- 28:11Speaker 8: Out did you watch anything else Marlena?
- 28:14Speaker 18: Yes I actually had a whole bunch to talk about
- 28:17Speaker 18: on that movie and education but I didn't write it
- 28:19Speaker 18: down and now I'm just like I don't remember any
- 28:22Speaker 18: of it I liked it it was good I.
- 28:25Speaker 5: Like young school girl just say that but.
- 28:29Speaker 18: I also watched Where the Wild Things Are Was it depressing?
- 28:32Speaker 10: It was horribly depressing.
- 28:34Speaker 5: I really liked it. I liked it too.
- 28:35Speaker 7: I really liked it.
- 28:36Speaker 18: You know, it's like I have mixed feelings on this
- 28:39Speaker 18: movie because I'm always complaining how movies don't really tackle
- 28:42Speaker 18: deep subjects. Like children's movies don't tackle deep subjects.
- 28:44Speaker 5: This is what happens when they do.
- 28:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 18: Like this child from the beginning was really sad. Like
- 28:49Speaker 18: he was like manically depressed. Like the movie starts off
- 28:53Speaker 18: and he's like sad and lonely and his sister's friend
- 28:57Speaker 18: smashes snow for her and he's just crying and it's
- 29:00Speaker 18: the saddest thing ever and then he goes and smashes
- 29:02Speaker 18: all the stuff in her room And then it's just
- 29:04Speaker 18: like laying in his bed, crying, looking really depressed.
- 29:06Speaker 8: It was so bleak.
- 29:08Speaker 5: See, I like that part. I like the first third
- 29:10Speaker 5: of the movie better than when he goes to... I
- 29:12Speaker 5: think that whole part of it is just amazingly well
- 29:15Speaker 5: put together. And that's why I think he's such a
- 29:18Speaker 5: good director is just that first third of it, really.
- 29:21Speaker 10: Yeah, and then he runs away from his mother after
- 29:24Speaker 10: biting her.
- 29:25Speaker 8: Biting her?
- 29:26Speaker 10: He bit her.
- 29:26Speaker 5: He's a monster. What do you want?
- 29:27Speaker 10: He was a wolf.
- 29:29Speaker 18: I like the part he stands on the counter and yells,
- 29:32Speaker 18: make me some food, woman.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Make me some food, woman.
- 29:36Speaker 10: That part was awesome, but yes.
- 29:38Speaker 8: In reality, that child probably would have been.
- 29:40Speaker 7: Been beaten. Within an inch of his life.
- 29:42Speaker 18: But after he bites her and runs away, he gets
- 29:45Speaker 18: in a boat and boats for a long time and
- 29:47Speaker 18: comes upon this land of monsters. And he's in constant
- 29:51Speaker 18: peril of being eaten, always. Like, even though he becomes
- 29:54Speaker 18: their king and they love him.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Which they don't ever go into in the book. I
- 29:57Speaker 5: like some of the things they throw in on this movie.
- 29:59Speaker 5: It's interesting.
- 30:00Speaker 8: From what I've seen, I really liked it.
- 30:02Speaker 10: Yeah, they're pretty much going to eat him at any
- 30:04Speaker 10: given point. It's just really.
- 30:07Speaker 18: Dark and scary, and the monsters have serious things going on.
- 30:12Speaker 5: Well, they're all representations of his life. They're different parts
- 30:16Speaker 5: of what's wrong with his life, basically. Again, it's really
- 30:19Speaker 5: interesting what they did with it. It's just not a
- 30:21Speaker 5: kid's movie.
- 30:22Speaker 10: Yeah, it is definitely not a kid's movie.
- 30:24Speaker 18: I mean, even the fun monster play content I don't
- 30:27Speaker 18: think would be enough to hold.
- 30:29Speaker 10: A child's interest.
- 30:30Speaker 5: It might, but I mean, there's like 10 minutes total
- 30:33Speaker 5: in like a two plus hour movie. It's like two
- 30:36Speaker 5: and a half hours almost. I think my kid liked it,
- 30:38Speaker 5: if I remember correctly.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 5: I mean, visually, it's amazing. On top of that, once
- 30:42Speaker 5: he gets there, it's just amazing to look at. But yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 5: I can see it being a hard watch for kids.
- 30:48Speaker 8: I'm the only kid in the world that never read
- 30:50Speaker 8: the book. I've never read the book.
- 30:52Speaker 5: You didn't have a spare five minutes.
- 30:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 5: There's like 10 sentences in it.
- 30:56Speaker 8: Yeah. One of those things that just never crossed my path.
- 30:59Speaker 5: It sits upstairs if you want. I'll go get it
- 31:01Speaker 5: right now.
- 31:03Speaker 9: I would recognize the characters, like some of them, but
- 31:05Speaker 9: I never had the book.
- 31:07Speaker 18: I like the characters' names, Ira and Judith and KW
- 31:11Speaker 18: and Carol.
- 31:12Speaker 8: These are just.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Not monster names. Er, Carol. Yeah. Dude, why do you
- 31:18Speaker 5: sound like Tony Soprano?
- 31:20Speaker 8: Kept expecting him like pull out a.
- 31:23Speaker 18: Gun yeah it was a part where kw eats him
- 31:27Speaker 18: to hide him yeah carol and i like the raccoons.
- 31:31Speaker 7: In there yeah just chilling just.
- 31:33Speaker 18: Like the part i mean like i was like disturbed
- 31:37Speaker 18: she pulled him out.
- 31:38Speaker 7: Of her mouth he's like all covered with.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Slaughters disturbing like it's a weird and that's why i
- 31:44Speaker 5: give it credit it's like it doesn't it doesn't really
- 31:46Speaker 5: softball any of the stuff it does weird stuff and
- 31:48Speaker 5: kids have to watch it and i like.
- 31:50Speaker 8: The description i'm not really sure what to think about.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Yeah who's uh what is the hawk's name um oh
- 31:56Speaker 6: yeah the arm yeah he pulls his arm off and
- 31:59Speaker 6: then he like replaces it with a little stick yeah
- 32:03Speaker 6: it's awesome guys.
- 32:04Speaker 18: Yeah and uh the little um owls what were their
- 32:08Speaker 18: names bill and terry yeah and uh Carol is standing
- 32:12Speaker 18: in the fort.
- 32:14Speaker 7: That was just fun.
- 32:16Speaker 18: Carol's standing in the fort, and he says, I thought,
- 32:20Speaker 18: he's like, I think this fort is broken. It's supposed
- 32:23Speaker 18: to cut out the brains of anyone that we don't
- 32:24Speaker 18: want to be in here.
- 32:26Speaker 5: Whoa.
- 32:27Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 10: But I also tried to watch Sherlock.
- 32:31Speaker 8: Holmes, but I just couldn't get into it. That was horrible,
- 32:34Speaker 8: wasn't it?
- 32:35Speaker 10: I mean, I don't know.
- 32:35Speaker 9: It was boring.
- 32:36Speaker 7: I didn't know.
- 32:37Speaker 10: I'll tell you, it's watched like the first five seconds.
- 32:39Speaker 19: It kind of reminds me of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
- 32:42Speaker 19: I wanted to like that movie. I wanted to like
- 32:45Speaker 19: that movie, but I could not sit through it. I
- 32:48Speaker 19: don't know why. I've tried to watch it three or
- 32:50Speaker 19: four times, and I just couldn't get into it.
- 32:52Speaker 8: It has Stuart Townsend in it. That's why I don't
- 32:54Speaker 8: like League.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
- 32:55Speaker 8: I don't like Stuart Townsend.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Nobody likes him.
- 32:57Speaker 8: I hate him ever since the Queen of the Damned. Oh, him?
- 33:02Speaker 7: You mean Dorian Gray?
- 33:03Speaker 8: He's tight.
- 33:04Speaker 18: What about Dorian Gray?
- 33:07Speaker 7: I mean, I like the whole idea of it.
- 33:10Speaker 5: You know, Sean Connery. I mean, come on, Sean Connery.
- 33:15Speaker 5: I just didn't get into it for some reason.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Why?
- 33:18Speaker 5: Why couldn't I get into it?
- 33:20Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, I was talking on the phone when
- 33:22Speaker 18: I was watching this movie, so that's probably a good reason.
- 33:25Speaker 18: I've tried to watch it like four times, but I
- 33:28Speaker 18: fell asleep the first night, the second night.
- 33:29Speaker 8: I think even Jay was falling asleep during it.
- 33:31Speaker 12: Yeah, I was, but that was partially because of work
- 33:34Speaker 12: and stuff like that.
- 33:35Speaker 8: And partially because the movie sucked.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. She's like, did you fall asleep?
- 33:39Speaker 8: Like, no, if I have to stay awake during this,
- 33:41Speaker 8: you do too.
- 33:42Speaker 5: You better wake up.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, man.
- 33:45Speaker 18: But I've been just running movies from the Red Box
- 33:48Speaker 18: at Walgreens, and it's actually kind of cool. They usually
- 33:52Speaker 18: don't have very good movies, but they had a few
- 33:53Speaker 18: movies that I've wanted to see, so.
- 33:55Speaker 10: That's where I rented it.
- 33:56Speaker 8: I wonder if there's these little pods everywhere now. I
- 33:58Speaker 8: might just do one more. Or not one more.
- 34:00Speaker 16: McDonald's. I know.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Everywhere.
- 34:02Speaker 10: I was really excited.
- 34:03Speaker 18: I think when that first came out, the first movie
- 34:05Speaker 18: I ever rented was the Reno 911 movie.
- 34:08Speaker 10: And I never watched it.
- 34:09Speaker 18: But I think it was the novelty of getting a
- 34:11Speaker 18: movie out of this big red box in McDonald's.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Next thing you know, they're going to be in your driveway.
- 34:17Speaker 5: that'd be cool they'll just be beamed directly to your
- 34:20Speaker 5: house that's the real next step what the hell just
- 34:22Speaker 5: beam it in your head I forgot that's.
- 34:24Speaker 8: The other thing we watched we watched the first season
- 34:26Speaker 8: of Dexter oh yeah we did I finally got past
- 34:29Speaker 8: that guy's face enough to watch the.
- 34:31Speaker 9: First season of Dexter because he's awesome I like him
- 34:34Speaker 9: from six feet under I like his face I can't
- 34:36Speaker 9: stand his face on the DVD covers he does that
- 34:38Speaker 9: smirky I just want to punch him in the throat
- 34:41Speaker 9: and I can't stand him so now that it's actually.
- 34:43Speaker 5: On Netflix Misty doesn't like a lot of people that's
- 34:45Speaker 5: true I.
- 34:46Speaker 9: Hate Meg Ryan I hate I mean, I hate that Ryan,
- 34:49Speaker 9: her eyebrows are too far apart.
- 34:50Speaker 5: It'll be a shorter list if we make the list
- 34:52Speaker 5: of people you like.
- 34:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:55Speaker 5: You just look at her wrong and she doesn't like you.
- 34:58Speaker 5: That's true.
- 34:58Speaker 8: But yeah, so we actually sat down and watched the
- 35:00Speaker 8: first season of Dexter and I really liked it. I
- 35:02Speaker 8: really liked everything about it. I thought it was completely awesome.
- 35:04Speaker 5: It's great. It's awesome.
- 35:06Speaker 10: So yay for Dexter.
- 35:07Speaker 8: I think that's a really good idea. Just, like, the
- 35:10Speaker 8: idea of what Dexter does. I think we need one.
- 35:15Speaker 5: And I think it's original. Like, we've seen so many, like,
- 35:18Speaker 5: serial killer movies over the years. This is the first
- 35:20Speaker 5: time I saw something like, wow, that's totally different.
- 35:23Speaker 8: I mean, it's a serial killer. Yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 5: It's just well put together.
- 35:28Speaker 8: A serial killer who kills a serial killer. I'm down
- 35:30Speaker 8: with that. I can support that.
- 35:31Speaker 5: And somebody who's just watching the legal system, watching who's
- 35:35Speaker 5: filtering through the big holes in the legal system, and
- 35:37Speaker 5: taking care of that problem. That's pretty cool, actually. Not
- 35:41Speaker 5: that you can officially get on board for that, but...
- 35:43Speaker 5: We need real Dexters. Yeah, we kind of do.
- 35:45Speaker 7: Multiple.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Except most people aren't that smart. They just randomly kill
- 35:49Speaker 5: the wrong people all the time.
- 35:50Speaker 10: He does that sometimes.
- 35:51Speaker 5: Yeah, not too often.
- 35:53Speaker 10: At least twice, though.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Oops.
- 35:55Speaker 5: What do you want? Can't make an omelette without breaking
- 35:59Speaker 5: some skull.
- 36:03Speaker 18: I think my favorite part about Dexter, normally after I
- 36:05Speaker 18: watch a show so many times, I fast forward through
- 36:07Speaker 18: the opening credits.
- 36:08Speaker 5: We always do.
- 36:09Speaker 8: I love the opening credits of Dexter. I know, I
- 36:10Speaker 8: watch it every time. And it's like the blood dripping.
- 36:13Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 36:13Speaker 8: And like the bacon is.
- 36:14Speaker 9: I was excited when I saw an episode that had
- 36:15Speaker 9: Sam Tramiel in it, and I love Sam Tramiel, so
- 36:18Speaker 9: I was excited because he plays Sam on True Blood,
- 36:20Speaker 9: and I got excited because Sam was there.
- 36:22Speaker 8: And your episodes start this week, Dexter?
- 36:24Speaker 18: I'm thinking of true blood yeah i've not watched true
- 36:27Speaker 18: blood i read some of the books i read all
- 36:29Speaker 18: the books.
- 36:31Speaker 10: I tried i think i have all the books but
- 36:33Speaker 10: they're not labeled.
- 36:34Speaker 18: And i can tell you what order later yeah my favorite.
- 36:38Speaker 7: Is so gorgeous yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 5: I can't wait good times so does that round out our.
- 36:44Speaker 8: Geek week yeah that's a long geek week.
- 36:49Speaker 5: All right fantastic Well, we will take a break. And
- 36:52Speaker 5: on the way, I'll go ahead and throw in a
- 36:54Speaker 5: little music here, only to appease a few of our listeners.
- 36:58Speaker 5: It's sad that not one, more than one of our
- 37:01Speaker 5: listeners wrote in and was upset that I didn't work
- 37:03Speaker 5: in Don Johnson's heartbeat last week.
- 37:07Speaker 8: How did you not put that in there?
- 37:08Speaker 5: Because he's not saying heart beeps at all. And I
- 37:12Speaker 5: told him I was saving it up for a full-on
- 37:14Speaker 5: Don Johnson episode. So we won't play the entire one.
- 37:16Speaker 5: We'll just get a little clip to tide you guys over.
- 37:19Speaker 5: We'll go ahead and throw a little of that in there.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Just do that. Make the listeners happy. That's what we do.
- 37:25Speaker 5: We do.
- 37:25Speaker 8: We satisfy the whatever.
- 37:29Speaker 9: Next.
- 37:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 37:30Speaker 4: All right.
- 37:31Speaker 5: So we will take a break and be back with
- 37:33Speaker 5: What's the Buzz?
- 37:35Speaker 9: That's the way it's got to be Everybody.
- 37:40Speaker 8: Tells me now.
- 38:19Speaker 3: It's intermission.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Rise and stretch time. Time to refresh yourself and visit
- 38:24Speaker 1: our snack bar. Got a yen for hot popcorn? Your

- 38:45Speaker 1: in time. So stretch your legs. Come to the snack
- 38:48Speaker 1: bar now. The Toolbox Murders.
- 38:55Speaker 16: No.
- 38:57Speaker 3: No. A deadly craftsman made ordinary tools weapons of destruction.
- 39:00Speaker 5: With drills, nail guns, and hammers.
- 39:02Speaker 3: He clawed and bludgeoned his way into the lives.
- 39:04Speaker 5: Of innocent victims. The Toolbox Murders. No one could guess
- 39:09Speaker 5: his true identity until it was too late. The Toolbox Murders.
- 39:14Speaker 5: A Cal-Am artist's release. Rated R under 17. Not admitted
- 39:16Speaker 5: without parents.
- 39:19Speaker 15: This is Bill from Outside the Cinema. If you're hearing this,
- 39:22Speaker 15: then you probably like podcasts.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Logical.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Flawlessly logical.
- 39:26Speaker 15: Well, let me tell you. If you like horror movies,
- 39:28Speaker 15: exploitation films, and underground... and cult films, why not check
- 39:31Speaker 15: out Outside the Cinema?
- 39:32Speaker 5: You gotta tell them!
- 39:34Speaker 15: Www.outsidethecinema.com You're a smart motherfucker. Hey man, I try.
- 39:48Speaker 5: Hello, this is.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Sonny Landon welcoming you to Movie Meltdown.
- 39:53Speaker 4: Oh, this is a chopper.
- 39:54Speaker 8: Look at me.
- 39:56Speaker 3: It's easy to see.
- 39:56Speaker 4: You're thinking this is how I feel. Do me wrong,
- 40:19Speaker 4: and if I beg you not, for my reckless heart.
- 40:23Speaker 8: Will heal, I'm looking for love.
- 40:52Speaker 5: All right, we are back with What's the Buzz? Groovy.
- 41:00Speaker 5: What exactly is the buzz?
- 41:03Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 41:04Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 41:05Speaker 8: What are we.
- 41:14Speaker 16: We didn't.
- 41:15Speaker 5: This actually was sort of the end of the last weekend,
- 41:17Speaker 5: so maybe everybody had already heard it, but we didn't
- 41:20Speaker 5: really discuss it. So, yeah, this past week, we found
- 41:24Speaker 5: out that Guillermo del Toro is going to have to
- 41:27Speaker 5: step down from doing the next Hobbit movies.
- 41:30Speaker 7: One thing's never going to get made.
- 41:31Speaker 5: He's been working on it for two years, and now
- 41:34Speaker 5: because MGM's having their financial problems, they keep delaying everything,
- 41:38Speaker 5: and he's got five different movies on the back burner
- 41:42Speaker 5: now waiting, and he's to the point of, you know what,
- 41:44Speaker 5: I've got to do other stuff. Yeah, screw this.
- 41:46Speaker 7: This is never going to happen.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he's actually still going to work on it. He's
- 41:50Speaker 5: still going to be a producer of some level. He's
- 41:52Speaker 5: still working on the writing, but yeah, he's not going
- 41:55Speaker 5: to be directing.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 41:57Speaker 5: That kind of sucks.
- 41:58Speaker 7: That's so sad.
- 41:59Speaker 5: But at the same time, it's like, it sucks for
- 42:01Speaker 5: Hobbit fans, but really like for movie fans, this is
- 42:05Speaker 5: good because it now gives him a chance to make
- 42:07Speaker 5: the five movies that are in his queue waiting to
- 42:10Speaker 5: be made. He's still like all the ones we've been
- 42:12Speaker 5: talking about the last two years, you know, it's like,
- 42:15Speaker 5: he's got a Frankenstein version he wants to do. He's
- 42:17Speaker 5: got a Lovecraft movie he wants to do. He's doing
- 42:20Speaker 5: like a Kurt Vonnegut movie. So it's like, He's got
- 42:22Speaker 5: all these big properties waiting to be done, and Hobbit's
- 42:25Speaker 5: just been, you know, gumming up the work. So, for
- 42:28Speaker 5: Guillermo del Toro fans, I mean, it's actually a good
- 42:31Speaker 5: thing that he can actually make a movie now and
- 42:33Speaker 5: not be sitting around waiting for this to work. But, yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 5: for the Hobbit, yeah, I don't know what to think.
- 42:39Speaker 5: I mean, the fact that everybody's still involved is good, but...
- 42:43Speaker 5: who knows who they're going to pass it on to
- 42:45Speaker 5: somewhere down the line.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Yeah, really. Hopefully just come back around later on again.
- 42:50Speaker 5: Or worse, I mean, it's sad that your fallback is
- 42:54Speaker 5: going to be Peter Jackson because he already said, but
- 42:56Speaker 5: this was the quote, If I have to, I'll direct.
- 42:59Speaker 5: I'm like, well, you don't want that. Yeah, exactly. And
- 43:03Speaker 5: it would kind of be cool to see a different
- 43:05Speaker 5: take now. It's like, we've seen that land through his eyes.
- 43:08Speaker 5: It's like, what if we gave it to somebody else
- 43:09Speaker 5: equally talented? But I don't know if it falls back
- 43:12Speaker 5: to him. It's like, well, this is just part four
- 43:14Speaker 5: and five.
- 43:15Speaker 7: I just want to see small.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Yeah. It's like, we've already seen that.
- 43:18Speaker 7: I wonder who they'll give it to.
- 43:22Speaker 5: Brett Radner.
- 43:23Speaker 8: Michael Bay.
- 43:24Speaker 5: Spike Lee.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 43:25Speaker 8: No, Michael Bay.
- 43:26Speaker 7: No, Michael Bay.
- 43:27Speaker 5: Oh, Jesus. Can you make smog explode?
- 43:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:32Speaker 5: Just at the end, he just burst into flame. He
- 43:34Speaker 5: was your dragon. He had fire in him. It was
- 43:36Speaker 5: bound to happen eventually.
- 43:38Speaker 7: And then there are helicopters in slow motion in the
- 43:40Speaker 7: background for some reason.
- 43:41Speaker 5: Like, oh, God, you just can't leave them out, can you?
- 43:44Speaker 5: It's a time-traveling helicopter. Look.
- 43:46Speaker 9: But at least if Michael Bay didn't make it, Fox
- 43:49Speaker 9: would probably not be in it.
- 43:50Speaker 5: That's true. We don't need her.
- 43:52Speaker 8: Oh, Lord.
- 43:57Speaker 5: So, after months of rumor and speculation, we have a
- 44:00Speaker 5: new casting for the Avengers. I don't know. This one's
- 44:04Speaker 5: interesting because it's the only one that so far has
- 44:06Speaker 5: been cast and hasn't been in other movies. Like, everybody
- 44:08Speaker 5: else we know because they're in all the other movies.
- 44:11Speaker 5: Now they have cast Hawkeye, and it's going to be
- 44:14Speaker 5: Jeremy Renner from The Hurt Locker.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Nice.
- 44:16Speaker 7: He can be a good Hawkeye.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Yeah, he's a good actor, so I can actually see
- 44:21Speaker 5: that working. But yeah, we've already got everybody else from
- 44:25Speaker 5: the other movies cast, so this is the first original
- 44:29Speaker 5: character kind of thrown in there.
- 44:30Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 7: I wonder how much of the Avengers the actual story
- 44:33Speaker 7: they're going to do.
- 44:34Speaker 5: It's pretty rough.
- 44:36Speaker 7: They wipe out his family and then he just goes berserk.
- 44:40Speaker 5: That would be kind of cool, actually, just to have
- 44:42Speaker 5: a real story thrown in there instead of just... I
- 44:45Speaker 5: don't know. They're already, like, throwing so much in. But, like,
- 44:47Speaker 5: Iron Man 2, they were just working in ridiculous... Well, just, like,
- 44:51Speaker 5: little inside jokes and all this stuff to the point
- 44:54Speaker 5: where I'm like, there's too much being thrown at the screen.
- 44:58Speaker 5: And this was just in another movie. Side nonsense in
- 45:01Speaker 5: the middle of another movie. So when we've got a
- 45:03Speaker 5: movie that's nothing but all this stuff crammed together, I
- 45:06Speaker 5: don't know. It's like I'm hoping Joss sort of pulls
- 45:10Speaker 5: it together because, I mean, that's the only hopeful thing
- 45:12Speaker 5: about this is that he's now working on it. It
- 45:14Speaker 5: can be a big mess, yeah. Yeah, otherwise it seems
- 45:16Speaker 5: like it could be so much stuff thrown into one movie.
- 45:19Speaker 5: It could be awesome, but it could be just a
- 45:21Speaker 5: huge mass of train wreck.
- 45:23Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 5: Who knows? And while we're on superhero news, Nolan has
- 45:28Speaker 5: said there will be, and this makes sense and I
- 45:30Speaker 5: can't see how he could have done it any other way.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Christopher Nolan said there will be no Joker in the
- 45:34Speaker 5: next Batman movie.
- 45:35Speaker 8: Thank God.
- 45:36Speaker 5: How could you even imagine casting somebody else at this point?
- 45:39Speaker 5: I mean, that would be stupid on his part. He
- 45:43Speaker 5: still hasn't named who the new villain is going to be.
- 45:45Speaker 10: Is Christian Bale still going to?
- 45:47Speaker 5: Of course he is.
- 45:49Speaker 8: I heard that he didn't want to do Batman anymore.
- 45:52Speaker 5: He'll cash a paycheck. We know it.
- 45:53Speaker 18: Well, you know, he was, like, a hot actor for
- 45:55Speaker 18: a while, but I think he was just such a
- 45:57Speaker 18: dick and so hard to work with. Like, he's not
- 45:59Speaker 18: in movies anymore, if you haven't noticed. He hasn't really
- 46:01Speaker 18: done anything.
- 46:02Speaker 8: I liked him after his exploding.
- 46:04Speaker 7: Yeah, I thought that was hilarious.
- 46:06Speaker 8: I have more respect for him. I feel you on that. Oh,
- 46:09Speaker 8: good for you.
- 46:10Speaker 7: Oh, good for you.
- 46:14Speaker 8: That made me like him more.
- 46:16Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 46:17Speaker 8: It doesn't go off like that at work.
- 46:18Speaker 7: I mean, who doesn't want to, you know, exactly.
- 46:23Speaker 5: I don't know. I can't see why he would not
- 46:26Speaker 5: want to do it, especially at this point in his career,
- 46:28Speaker 5: because he really doesn't have a ton of new stuff
- 46:30Speaker 5: at this point. So, I don't know. We'll see, I guess,
- 46:33Speaker 5: but They are working on the script, and so stuff's
- 46:36Speaker 5: coming on board as far as, you know, he's got
- 46:39Speaker 5: his brother working on the screenplay, which is also good
- 46:41Speaker 5: because he's a hell of a writer. So it should
- 46:44Speaker 5: be good, whatever they're bringing in on it. I don't know.
- 46:48Speaker 14: All right.
- 46:49Speaker 5: I know we love the biopics on this show. We
- 46:52Speaker 5: love some biopics. But I had to throw this one
- 46:55Speaker 5: in because it's got a little extra bonus. So plans
- 46:58Speaker 5: for a biopic about slain rapper Tupac Shakur. He ain't dead.
- 47:02Speaker 3: He ain't dead.
- 47:03Speaker 8: He's hiding. He's making more albums.
- 47:04Speaker 5: He's been in the works for several years now.
- 47:07Speaker 8: Is he going to be in the movie?
- 47:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 5: He's going to play himself. It appears this movie will
- 47:14Speaker 5: finally start filming in September. That's the word from director
- 47:17Speaker 5: Antoine Fuqua.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 47:20Speaker 8: That's one of the most awesome names to say.
- 47:21Speaker 5: That was the whole reason for me pulling this out.
- 47:23Speaker 5: I just wanted to say Fuqua one more time.
- 47:25Speaker 8: It's known as Julianna Magaliz.
- 47:26Speaker 5: Magaliz. It's a good one, too.
- 47:28Speaker 18: The other day I was listening to the Oldies Station,
- 47:32Speaker 18: and they were talking about this old doo-wop group.
- 47:35Speaker 10: That one of the guy's names was his, it was
- 47:38Speaker 10: something Fuqua. And the guy kept going, Fuqua.
- 47:41Speaker 18: And he just kept saying it over and over and
- 47:43Speaker 18: like bringing up his name as much. I was like,
- 47:44Speaker 18: oh my God, is this like Brian's long lost brother?
- 47:46Speaker 5: I think he's just listening to our show, ripping me off.
- 47:50Speaker 5: That's what it is. What a hack. Anyway, so yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 5: mostly it was just to say Antoine Fuqua. But yeah,
- 47:56Speaker 5: they said it was revealed that last week that we
- 47:59Speaker 5: were talking about that he's supposed to be directing the tomb.
- 48:02Speaker 5: But apparently that will have to wait because Tupac's more important.
- 48:06Speaker 8: So the Notorious movie, you know, it was actually pretty good.
- 48:10Speaker 5: I've avoided it so far, but I've heard decent things
- 48:13Speaker 5: about it.
- 48:13Speaker 8: It was enjoyable.
- 48:15Speaker 5: Watch it and get you.
- 48:16Speaker 8: That would be the end. That was enjoyable. It's at
- 48:20Speaker 8: the beginning and the end, so get it twice.
- 48:22Speaker 5: Two for one special.
- 48:24Speaker 7: He's a big man. There's a lot of things you
- 48:25Speaker 7: can miss. But what are they going to name it?
- 48:27Speaker 8: Are they going to name it, like, because it's notorious.
- 48:30Speaker 8: Tupac didn't really have, like, a... A nickname, so to speak.
- 48:36Speaker 8: Except Tupac.
- 48:37Speaker 7: Thug life, I think.
- 48:37Speaker 8: Thug life?
- 48:38Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 48:38Speaker 9: Maybe.
- 48:40Speaker 8: The life of time.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Living the Vita Thug Life?
- 48:44Speaker 5: Yikes.
- 48:45Speaker 7: Didn't make sense.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Oh, man. Tupacalypse now.
- 48:50Speaker 7: Nice.
- 48:51Speaker 8: Shit. Water almost came out of Roger's nose.
- 48:55Speaker 7: Very good.
- 48:56Speaker 5: That was worth it, though. That was actually... Wow. So, yeah.
- 49:00Speaker 5: If he doesn't play himself in the movie, what's our
- 49:03Speaker 5: casting now? Will Smith. Are we going with, again, as
- 49:07Speaker 5: I suggested last week, please not Chris Tucker.
- 49:10Speaker 10: Not Chris Tucker, not Will Smith, and not Nick Cannon.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Oh, Nick Cannon. One of the Williams brothers. Oh, Sean?
- 49:18Speaker 8: Sean's the pretty one. I like Sean.
- 49:20Speaker 5: But I realized once again earlier in the week as
- 49:22Speaker 5: I watched it, Marlon wasn't horrible in that movie. I
- 49:26Speaker 5: was shocked by this.
- 49:27Speaker 8: Which one? Or Tyson Bedford?
- 49:31Speaker 3: Um.
- 49:31Speaker 7: Baby Boy, the guy that played Baby Boy. That was Tyrese.
- 49:34Speaker 7: I don't think he could play a good Tupac.
- 49:36Speaker 8: Tyson Bedford would be good too.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Jim Carrey. He's a chameleon.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:43Speaker 5: He's going to throw himself into the role. Robert Downey Jr.
- 49:46Speaker 5: There you go.
- 49:47Speaker 8: Only if he's method enough that he gets himself shot.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Oh, that might be good, actually. We wouldn't have to
- 49:53Speaker 5: sit through any more of that.
- 49:55Speaker 8: Robert Downey Jr.
- 49:57Speaker 7: He was good in Tropic Thunder.
- 49:58Speaker 10: He made a great black man.
- 50:00Speaker 16: I didn't think I was going to like that movie
- 50:04Speaker 16: at all, but it was hilarious.
- 50:06Speaker 8: I wanted to hate it.
- 50:07Speaker 16: I'm like, God, it's going to be horrible. I like
- 50:11Speaker 16: Jack Black's part. It's tied up to that tree. Just
- 50:17Speaker 16: the things coming out of his mouth are just gold.
- 50:20Speaker 9: The fact that I didn't realize it was Tom Cruise
- 50:22Speaker 9: from The Good Fortune of the movie. Yeah.
- 50:25Speaker 8: Alright.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 50:29Speaker 5: You know what? You love it. It's time for the
- 50:31Speaker 5: remakes of the week.
- 50:33Speaker 8: I do not like the plural sounding in this.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Or possibly the reimaginings in these cases.
- 50:38Speaker 8: Oh, is this the one I emailed you the other day?
- 50:40Speaker 5: This one Misty must want us to talk about because
- 50:43Speaker 5: she sent it to me the other day. So do
- 50:45Speaker 5: you want to out this one?
- 50:46Speaker 8: They are going to reboot The Crow.
- 50:50Speaker 5: We knew that. We talked about that a long time ago.
- 50:52Speaker 8: Why are you going to remake the original Crow?
- 50:55Speaker 5: There's... Made in like 1990. It's still awesome. There's a
- 51:01Speaker 5: whole new generation of Hot Topic kids that just weren't
- 51:03Speaker 5: around when that came out. That's old for them. They
- 51:06Speaker 5: can't watch that.
- 51:07Speaker 7: Their generation crow, you know?
- 51:09Speaker 8: Who are they going to put in as Brennan Lee? Zach?
- 51:13Speaker 16: Joking that would be so funny i just imagine him
- 51:17Speaker 16: with like black hair and white actually no no.
- 51:21Speaker 18: That weird kid that i was that weird kid from
- 51:23Speaker 18: veronica mars that they put in like every role is like.
- 51:26Speaker 5: The dark beaver beaver is gonna be the new crow
- 51:29Speaker 5: beaver is crow no i was thinking.
- 51:33Speaker 14: It's crossbreeding animals now i'm into bioengineering genetics you know
- 51:39Speaker 14: i do that Now I was thinking with your suggestion
- 51:41Speaker 14: last week, we can throw some Drake in there.
- 51:44Speaker 16: Right?
- 51:45Speaker 5: Drake Bell is the crow.
- 51:47Speaker 4: God help us.
- 51:48Speaker 5: I could see that. I don't want to see that. Please.
- 51:51Speaker 8: It's on the Disney Channel now. Like, make it night.
- 51:55Speaker 12: I like the original movie, and all I got to
- 51:57Speaker 12: say is fuck you and fuck the rest.
- 51:59Speaker 7: Of the franchise.
- 52:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they're all pretty bad three is almost watchable,
- 52:03Speaker 5: but the.
- 52:03Speaker 19: Other two were Horrible first one's the only one the
- 52:07Speaker 19: rest of them all suck ass.
- 52:11Speaker 5: He still wasn't that great, but the plot was watchable
- 52:13Speaker 5: in the third one.
- 52:14Speaker 7: But that's the one with what's-his-name Terminator 2 boy No,
- 52:20Speaker 7: that's the fourth one.
- 52:21Speaker 5: That's the fourth one? The fourth one is four.
- 52:23Speaker 8: David Boreanaz?
- 52:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 52:25Speaker 8: And Tara Reade?
- 52:26Speaker 5: Yes.
- 52:26Speaker 10: And Dennis Hopper.
- 52:27Speaker 5: We brought this up last week.
- 52:29Speaker 8: Why would David Boreanaz and Dennis Hopper do that to themselves?
- 52:32Speaker 5: Because they gave him a check.
- 52:34Speaker 10: Yeah, they pretty much do anything.
- 52:36Speaker 5: Yeah, pretty much.
- 52:36Speaker 8: Dennis Hopper has a lot of movies like that.
- 52:38Speaker 5: Yes, yes he does. He's not afraid.
- 52:40Speaker 8: He's fantastically awesome in all of them.
- 52:41Speaker 5: He's not afraid to cash a check. These days he's
- 52:44Speaker 5: probably not going to be cashing a check.
- 52:45Speaker 8: I don't think I've ever seen Space Truckers.
- 52:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it's fun.
- 52:49Speaker 10: I wonder what happened to the girl that played Sarah
- 52:51Speaker 10: in The Crow.
- 52:52Speaker 8: That's the only movie she ever did.
- 52:53Speaker 4: Really?
- 52:54Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 52:54Speaker 8: She never did anything else.
- 52:55Speaker 5: She did a convention not too long ago, right?
- 52:57Speaker 8: Yeah, but she's never done any other movies. She was
- 52:59Speaker 8: the kid, right?
- 52:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:00Speaker 8: She's never done any other movies. I looked it up.
- 53:01Speaker 8: I'm like, what the hell? She was awesome in that movie.
- 53:03Speaker 5: She was.
- 53:04Speaker 8: She was a great actress. How has she never done
- 53:05Speaker 8: anything else?
- 53:06Speaker 5: She's hanging out with the kid from The Shining now. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 53:10Speaker 5: as if it wasn't enough trouble that they're trying to
- 53:12Speaker 5: remake The Crow, this is This is just bad news. So, yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 5: the producer, Edward Pressman, says, things are moving ahead very
- 53:21Speaker 5: aggressively with the aim of doing this film this year.
- 53:24Speaker 5: But then it goes on, and let's see, what's the
- 53:27Speaker 5: next quote here? The next quote is from Stephen Norrington,
- 53:30Speaker 5: who's the director of Blade, and again, not a terrible
- 53:33Speaker 5: direction to go, but his quote is, the producer and
- 53:37Speaker 5: visual effects people were crunching numbers. And, yeah, to me,
- 53:42Speaker 5: that doesn't mean they're putting a whole lot of thought
- 53:44Speaker 5: or artistic planning behind this. It's what can we do
- 53:48Speaker 5: to make money. What can we do to cash in
- 53:50Speaker 5: on the name that is The Crow and the fan
- 53:53Speaker 5: base that is out there waiting to watch it and
- 53:55Speaker 5: love it or bitch about it. Regardless, they will still
- 53:57Speaker 5: pay money to see it. So, yeah, that's what worries
- 54:01Speaker 5: me is that, you know, at least the first one,
- 54:03Speaker 5: you know, they had a good director. Visually, it's amazing.
- 54:07Speaker 5: They went into it trying to deliver a good movie.
- 54:10Speaker 5: And that's why the first one holds up. That's why
- 54:11Speaker 5: the first one's still a good movie. Everybody's kind of
- 54:14Speaker 5: sick of the whole property at this point because they
- 54:16Speaker 5: ruined it with these sequels. But the first one's a
- 54:19Speaker 5: good movie.
- 54:19Speaker 9: Aren't they wanting to take it and make the crow,
- 54:21Speaker 9: the actual crow itself, a more important character?
- 54:24Speaker 8: They want to make it more prominent.
- 54:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it goes, let's see. It says, the version will
- 54:29Speaker 5: not only boast a new look, which is trouble, thanks
- 54:33Speaker 5: to illustrations from Avatar production designer. That's not good. They're
- 54:38Speaker 5: all going to be blue now. But it says, if
- 54:42Speaker 5: we will also see the crow become an actual creature
- 54:45Speaker 5: that's not just a bird, it's got a personality and
- 54:47Speaker 5: a character and has a more active role in the story.
- 54:50Speaker 5: It's got quirky one-liners.
- 54:53Speaker 8: It's voiced by Owen Wilson.
- 54:55Speaker 5: God help us. So did they just completely cut J.O.
- 54:59Speaker 7: Barr out of everything?
- 55:00Speaker 5: I'm trying to decide, did he like sell off? all
- 55:04Speaker 5: cinematic rights to it because if not he should be
- 55:07Speaker 5: smacked for letting all this happen but i'm sure he
- 55:10Speaker 5: got screwed in the deal and yeah i'm sure most
- 55:12Speaker 5: of them generally do yeah do.
- 55:14Speaker 10: You remember how horrible the tv show was no i
- 55:17Speaker 10: never yeah.
- 55:17Speaker 12: I was sad because it had uh mark mark the casco.
- 55:21Speaker 5: He's actually yeah he's actually good he was a.
- 55:24Speaker 12: Good he's a good martial artist he's a pretty good
- 55:26Speaker 12: actor but uh If anybody's ever seen The Crying Freeman,
- 55:30Speaker 12: that's probably, I think, one of the best films he's done.
- 55:33Speaker 5: Brotherhood of the Wolf. Have you seen that?
- 55:35Speaker 8: Brotherhood of the Wolf was made.
- 55:36Speaker 5: He's awesome. So why he ended up in that show,
- 55:39Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know. I guess at.
- 55:43Speaker 10: The time it seemed like a good idea.
- 55:44Speaker 8: He was doing a lot of drugs at that time.
- 55:46Speaker 12: I think they said he was the closest they could
- 55:50Speaker 12: get to a Brandon Lee.
- 55:53Speaker 5: Now he just makes food for a living.
- 56:03Speaker 18: I forgot that he's the same guy. I forgot that
- 56:06Speaker 18: the Iron Chef guy is the same guy that was
- 56:08Speaker 18: in that. I knew that a long time ago.
- 56:10Speaker 10: I purged that from my brain.
- 56:14Speaker 18: Oh, Lord.
- 56:15Speaker 5: So, yeah, that's... Petal of cucumber.
- 56:18Speaker 7: Petal of cucumber.
- 56:21Speaker 5: So that's bad news, but we at least knew that
- 56:23Speaker 5: Crow was coming. This one, I guess, really, I didn't know,
- 56:27Speaker 5: but shouldn't surprise anybody, really. But the fact that who
- 56:31Speaker 5: they're involving in this is even scarier. Brett Ratner is
- 56:36Speaker 5: looking to do Snow White.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Why?
- 56:38Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 56:40Speaker 5: Okay, whatever.
- 56:40Speaker 7: No comment.
- 56:41Speaker 5: Well, he's looking to do what Tim Burton did for
- 56:43Speaker 5: Alice in Wonderland, basically.
- 56:44Speaker 8: Like live action?
- 56:46Speaker 5: Yeah, he's going to do a live action version, and
- 56:48Speaker 5: he's jumped on board to produce an edgier version.
- 56:52Speaker 18: That was already done. It was a movie with Sigourney
- 56:54Speaker 18: Weaver a few years ago.
- 56:56Speaker 5: It's actually good. It's got Kristen, what's her name in it?
- 57:00Speaker 5: I think everybody forgot about that. From Smallville?
- 57:02Speaker 8: Oh, Kristen Crook?
- 57:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 5: No, no, no, not that one. Not that one. That's
- 57:05Speaker 5: the same one.
- 57:06Speaker 1: No.
- 57:06Speaker 8: No, there's an older one.
- 57:07Speaker 10: There's an older one. Yeah, I have it. It's a dark,
- 57:09Speaker 10: it's really dark.
- 57:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:11Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 57:11Speaker 5: I thought that's the one with Sigourney Weaver.
- 57:13Speaker 18: No.
- 57:13Speaker 8: No, because that one was like long, like in the 90s.
- 57:16Speaker 10: Yeah, in the 90s.
- 57:16Speaker 8: And then the Kristen Crook was like.
- 57:17Speaker 7: That seemed like it was dark.
- 57:19Speaker 4: I mean.
- 57:19Speaker 5: That one was pretty.
- 57:20Speaker 14: Dark, too.
- 57:20Speaker 10: No, not that one.
- 57:21Speaker 18: Not the girl from Smallville, but the girl that plays
- 57:24Speaker 18: Snow White is really.
- 57:25Speaker 7: Pretty, but.
- 57:25Speaker 8: Okay, yeah, that is a different one.
- 57:27Speaker 10: She's not a.
- 57:28Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 57:28Speaker 5: Either one of those are pretty decent, actually. I've... I
- 57:31Speaker 5: think I've seen both of those. And yeah, so I mean,
- 57:33Speaker 5: it's not like we've never seen this before. It's just
- 57:36Speaker 5: never had like a big budget, huge version, which I
- 57:39Speaker 5: don't know if putting Rat in your mind is the
- 57:41Speaker 5: way to go. But yeah, I don't know. He wants
- 57:44Speaker 5: to do, according to them, a less Disney-fied, you know,
- 57:47Speaker 5: darker tones of the Brothers Grimm idea, which I think
- 57:51Speaker 5: they're tentatively titling it the Brothers Grimm colon, which hopefully
- 57:55Speaker 5: they'll spell colon. We'll have to do Princess and the Pea.
- 57:58Speaker 5: I want to see a dark version of that.
- 58:00Speaker 8: I want to see a dark version of Humpty Dumpty.
- 58:04Speaker 5: They could do that. Don't tell Tim Burton because he will.
- 58:08Speaker 8: And Johnny Depp will.
- 58:08Speaker 5: Be in it.
- 58:09Speaker 8: He's in everything Tim Burton does.
- 58:12Speaker 5: It'll be Humpty Dumpty. Tim Burton is in it. So yeah,
- 58:16Speaker 5: they're saying skip the woodland animals. The drawers are going
- 58:19Speaker 5: to be robbers and they're making it. Here you go.
- 58:21Speaker 5: There's a dragon going to be in it so you
- 58:23Speaker 5: can have your smog in it. Yeah, that's cool. Gotta
- 58:24Speaker 5: put a damn dragon in everything.
- 58:26Speaker 10: That's exactly.
- 58:29Speaker 10: The two movies that were already made, though.
- 58:31Speaker 5: Like less than 10 years ago. Here's the difference, though.
- 58:33Speaker 5: It's going to be in 3D.
- 58:34Speaker 8: Holy poof.
- 58:36Speaker 5: Of course. so I don't know what do you think
- 58:41Speaker 5: of the guy who brought us Rush Hour making Snow
- 58:43Speaker 5: White is he gonna put Chris Tucker yes as Snow
- 58:47Speaker 5: White Chris Tucker Jackie Chan he'll be Doc he'll be
- 58:52Speaker 5: Doc yeah Lord I.
- 58:55Speaker 18: Think Sam Neill was in the Snow White movie that
- 58:57Speaker 18: I'm thinking of yeah.
- 58:59Speaker 5: Yeah that's the one okay I was meshing them into
- 59:02Speaker 5: one big movie at this point yeah but yeah that
- 59:04Speaker 5: one is pretty good.
- 59:04Speaker 18: Yeah that one is really good I know Samuel's so great.
- 59:10Speaker 18: I mean, there's a ton of other children's books that
- 59:12Speaker 18: they have yet to turn into movies. Like, why do
- 59:14Speaker 18: they keep redoing the same thing over and over?
- 59:16Speaker 8: When's the pokey little puppy going to be?
- 59:19Speaker 5: A darker, edgier, pokey little puppy.
- 59:22Speaker 8: The little engine that's so weird.
- 59:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:26Speaker 5: That's what we need.
- 59:27Speaker 10: Sexy, edgy puppy.
- 59:28Speaker 5: Let's make this puppy sexy. What is this?
- 59:31Speaker 10: Pokey little puppy was sad.
- 59:34Speaker 18: I mean, he was neglected by his mother. Just because
- 59:38Speaker 18: he was, like, a slow, retarded puppy.
- 59:40Speaker 5: And that justifies him killing all those people? Oh, wait.
- 59:44Speaker 5: In my movie.
- 59:45Speaker 17: You're going to have a back story on an abused puppy.
- 59:50Speaker 8: Pocula puppy's got a grenade launcher somewhere. All right. Was
- 59:55Speaker 8: there any other buzz this week?
- 59:56Speaker 5: We're going to round out the buzz, but we will
- 59:58Speaker 5: go into this week's interview. This week we're talking to
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Bill Diamond, who is a puppeteer, designer, producer, and creator
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: of Monster TV Network. Awesome. I love Bill Diamond. He
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: also worked on Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and The
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: Dark Crystal. Nice, nice. That's amazing if you ask me.
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: Which playthrough?
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: In just a short while, he will experience the wonder
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: of the Dark Crystal.
- 1:00:32Speaker 18: I miss, like, in elementary school, puppets used to come
- 1:00:35Speaker 18: to our school on a regular basis and put on, like,
- 1:00:37Speaker 18: the show in the auditorium.
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: The puppets themselves?
- 1:00:41Speaker 11: Yeah, they've got, like, the sticks hanging from their wrists and, like, piloting.
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: Yeah, and some puppets.
- 1:00:49Speaker 18: No, people, they were, like, giant puppets, like, on people's
- 1:00:52Speaker 18: backs and stuff like that.
- 1:00:53Speaker 10: And the people would wear black suits and, like, dance
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: around and do puppets.
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: Gotcha, gotcha.
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: Do puppet things.
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: We used to do that for church. No, it was amazing.
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: Loved it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 10: They did a whole grim fairy tale one.
- 1:01:05Speaker 18: Or maybe it was just Hansel and Gretel because that's
- 1:01:07Speaker 18: the only one I remember.
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: Why didn't they make a Hansel and Gretel movie?
- 1:01:10Speaker 10: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:01:11Speaker 8: They are going to do a sci-fi. They're doing a
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: whole series of those. They're going to do Red Riding Hood,
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: and they're going to do Ransom and Gretel.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: I would like to see a Red Riding Hood movie.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: Yeah, sci-fi. They've done a lot of those.
- 1:01:24Speaker 8: They'll all get together as one big band. All the
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: girls are together.
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: Well, they actually did a version. And fight all the
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: Disney princesses.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: I think it's online. There's a movie they did like that.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: They took all the fairy tale heroines and they all
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: got together and like kicked ass.
- 1:01:41Speaker 18: They became like this feminist organization that didn't shave their
- 1:01:45Speaker 18: armpits and only listened to Bikini Kill.
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: Hey, I like Bikini Kill.
- 1:01:50Speaker 8: You would. Bikini Kill's fucking awesome.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Oh, Lord. Oh, jeez.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: I don't know about the armpits thing, but that's a
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: whole different story.
- 1:01:59Speaker 7: Bikini Kill.
- 1:02:00Speaker 8: They'll die in a minute. When are they starting, though?
- 1:02:02Speaker 8: Are they stopping?
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: They're shooting them now, I think, so probably the end
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: of this year, beginning.
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: Of next year.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: It takes them like six days to make one of
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: those movies, so it can't be that long.
- 1:02:13Speaker 9: Didn't they already cast Amanda Seyfried as going to be
- 1:02:15Speaker 9: like the first Red Riding Hood?
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: I think so. I think that's what we said.
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: I did too.
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: That was a lot of luck.
- 1:02:21Speaker 10: She was adorable in Mean Girls.
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: I love her in Veronica Moore.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: She's becoming weird now, though. She's becoming weird, go-to romantic
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: drama movie girl.
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: I don't know what's up with that.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:02:36Speaker 10: What was that other movie? That other stupid movie that
- 1:02:38Speaker 10: she was.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: A dear John? Electric Boogaloo.
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: Notebook 2. I built another house.
- 1:02:44Speaker 8: Dude, you got notebooked.
- 1:02:45Speaker 10: Dude, you got notebooked.
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: So, yes, we will talk to Bill Diamond. And, um...
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: See what he has to say about making movies with puppets?
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: We're here with Phil Diamond. At what age did you
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: get into puppets in general?
- 1:03:00Speaker 13: Well, actually, I probably really experimented with puppets in my
- 1:03:05Speaker 13: later teens and then got really heavy into it in
- 1:03:09Speaker 13: my early 20s.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Of course. As I would have thought. When did you
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: get into it as far as a career, more or less?
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: I got into it.
- 1:03:21Speaker 13: Probably about 1978. I was really picking out.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: What I was going to do.
- 1:03:28Speaker 13: I actually had met Fori in 1976, Fori Ackerman. In 1978,
- 1:03:35Speaker 13: I was doing a number of things with a very
- 1:03:38Speaker 13: young Johnny Henson. at the same time I was doing
- 1:03:42Speaker 13: stuff and then his father was you know involved with
- 1:03:46Speaker 13: some things and then I went and started working doing
- 1:03:48Speaker 13: some things at Sesame Street yeah in the late 70s
- 1:03:53Speaker 13: early 80s.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: And at that point who all was kind of running that.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Show over there Well, it was Children's Television Workshop.
- 1:04:01Speaker 13: Now, I was building my own company at the same time,
- 1:04:03Speaker 13: so I was bouncing around between that, and I wanted
- 1:04:05Speaker 13: to develop my own thing. So it was kind of
- 1:04:08Speaker 13: nice to be able to be doing my own stuff
- 1:04:10Speaker 13: at the same time as doing stuff for Jim. And
- 1:04:15Speaker 13: my background was television, so I was really heavy into
- 1:04:18Speaker 13: TV outside of puppetry.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: And then you ended up moving with him to.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: The Muppet Show? Yeah. Well, I did a number of
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: the things in New York for him.
- 1:04:28Speaker 13: At the same time, I had developed my.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Own studios in New York.
- 1:04:32Speaker 13: He just shot the show in London.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: But the New York.
- 1:04:38Speaker 13: Office is pretty much where everything was built. And then
- 1:04:41Speaker 13: it went over there.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Were there specific characters or anything that you did on
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: that show?
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: No.
- 1:04:47Speaker 13: At that time, I was very early in my career.
- 1:04:50Speaker 13: I was doing a lot of preliminary stuff for him.
- 1:04:53Speaker 13: And Dark Crystal was just starting, so we were kind
- 1:04:56Speaker 13: of like spread on both projects. And since Dark Crystal
- 1:05:00Speaker 13: took five years to make, everybody was doing something little
- 1:05:04Speaker 13: with that, the development or what was going on with
- 1:05:07Speaker 13: the Muppets. And again, I still was working on all
- 1:05:11Speaker 13: my own characters, which is what we're doing now. And
- 1:05:15Speaker 13: we built our own studios shortly after that.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess near that same time, I guess right
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: before that was the Muppet movie. Did you work on
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: the movie of any.
- 1:05:24Speaker 13: Well, there were little elements that came into the New
- 1:05:27Speaker 13: York office. Most things that Jim did were in New
- 1:05:30Speaker 13: York and in London.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: So it was pretty spread out. Everybody always had.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: you know, a little something to do with.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Because you had also, you had Sesame Street.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Going on at the same time.
- 1:05:40Speaker 13: You also had Hermit Otter's Jugbed's Christmas was in development
- 1:05:44Speaker 13: at that time. So there were a lot of little things.
- 1:05:47Speaker 13: And I wasn't always there. You know, we would come in.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: We were all different.
- 1:05:51Speaker 13: And I was doing all my own stuff, which Jim
- 1:05:53Speaker 13: was very supportive. And he really didn't want me to
- 1:05:57Speaker 13: stay in there. He kind of like, you know, you're
- 1:05:59Speaker 13: going to get closed up, do.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Your own thing, which.
- 1:06:02Speaker 13: I didn't understand then, but I definitely understand now.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: That's interesting. Again, he always seems like such a great person.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: It's good to know he was supportive of you doing
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: your own work.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: He was supportive of many artists.
- 1:06:13Speaker 13: Like, for example, in the labyrinth, a good friend of
- 1:06:15Speaker 13: mine was Michael Motion and John Kahn, and we would
- 1:06:18Speaker 13: do a lot of development circus stuff. Now, most people
- 1:06:21Speaker 13: may not know who Michael was, but he was the
- 1:06:25Speaker 13: guy who actually juggled the.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Ball for David Bowie. It wasn't David Bowie that was
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: doing that. It was Michael. Michael Motion.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: And in 1979, we were.
- 1:06:33Speaker 13: Doing a show in New York that Jim came to
- 1:06:39Speaker 13: and Michael was performing there and did that whole ball routine.
- 1:06:42Speaker 13: And we were capturing me and Johnny Henson. And that's
- 1:06:45Speaker 13: where he pretty much started discovering Mike. And again, seven
- 1:06:51Speaker 13: years later, Mike's in the movie. So it shows you
- 1:06:54Speaker 13: how he kind of paid attention to what he was
- 1:06:56Speaker 13: looking for and remembered how those little.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: Movements would be.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: That's impressive, yeah. Just always on at that point, always
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: looking for something. Right.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: And that's something you.
- 1:07:06Speaker 13: Learn from being around somebody like that.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: So as far as getting into your own productions, what
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: did you start off with, I guess, in your company?
- 1:07:15Speaker 13: Well, we were doing a lot of cable was just
- 1:07:19Speaker 13: starting at that point. The difference is that I wanted
- 1:07:22Speaker 13: to build my own studios. Jim didn't have really his
- 1:07:26Speaker 13: own studios. He kind of worked at other studios. I
- 1:07:29Speaker 13: really wanted to have my own studios. So I felt
- 1:07:33Speaker 13: that all of the stuff that I was going to
- 1:07:35Speaker 13: be doing, I could control.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Yeah. So I felt that.
- 1:07:40Speaker 13: The best thing to do at that time was to
- 1:07:42Speaker 13: develop my own.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: I was into television, developed my own studios.
- 1:07:46Speaker 13: Where Monster TV sits now is our own sound stages.
- 1:07:50Speaker 13: We have two of them, our scenic shops, our puppet shops.
- 1:07:52Speaker 13: Everything's under one roof. It comes out and it's controlled
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: by us and then it's uploaded to the rest of
- 1:07:57Speaker 13: the world. So everything is in one. contained, which is
- 1:08:01Speaker 13: something Jim never had. And I'm sure he would have
- 1:08:04Speaker 13: loved that to happen.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Yeah, if he made it to today's world, I'm sure
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: technically things would be a lot different in his company.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Um, yeah, I think they would be going different ways.
- 1:08:14Speaker 13: I mean, it's, you never know. I mean, you know,
- 1:08:19Speaker 13: he really wanted to make movies. That's really what he,
- 1:08:21Speaker 13: I don't think at that time he really was going
- 1:08:23Speaker 13: to be a puppeteer in the beginning.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: So when exactly did you start the current internet show
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: that you have going now?
- 1:08:30Speaker 13: Well, the internet show was, well, it's been a six-year project.
- 1:08:35Speaker 13: But we kind of, from the DVDs with Sarah Karloff,
- 1:08:41Speaker 13: Bill Lugosi, Ron Chaney, and Cortland Hall involved with the project,
- 1:08:45Speaker 13: we wanted to develop a number of relationships and document stuff.
- 1:08:51Speaker 13: So at the same time, we wound up pulling in
- 1:08:54Speaker 13: and waiting for the technology to catch up because a
- 1:08:57Speaker 13: couple of years ago, we couldn't do.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: It this way.
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:00Speaker 13: We couldn't upload and control it. So that's what we
- 1:09:06Speaker 13: had to wait. We had to wait until it became
- 1:09:08Speaker 13: a place that And it was everybody else not being
- 1:09:11Speaker 13: able to receive it.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: You know, not everyone had high-speed internet.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:09:14Speaker 13: That, you know, we had to wait. It's all changed
- 1:09:17Speaker 13: a lot in just the five years. Well, most people
- 1:09:19Speaker 13: don't know it because if you kind of think of Hulu,
- 1:09:21Speaker 13: that's only 2006.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 1:09:24Speaker 13: And that was just, it didn't really rise until 2008.
- 1:09:28Speaker 13: And still the development, the compression wasn't there. So now
- 1:09:32Speaker 13: we had to, we were even delayed by a year.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:36Speaker 13: So it's interesting. People don't think that, oh, it's been around.
- 1:09:39Speaker 13: It really hasn't. It's a whole new world.
- 1:09:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: It really hasn't been around. We do kind of a
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: lot of movies and stuff. Were there any specific movies
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: that you'd worked on that you had stories about? You know....
- 1:09:51Speaker 13: The fun thing is I've been able to create a
- 1:09:53Speaker 13: lot of my own shows, and that has been fun.
- 1:09:58Speaker 13: But I've been able to work with a lot of
- 1:09:59Speaker 13: great people and a lot of films. So to pick
- 1:10:02Speaker 13: out one, I mean, I've been doing the plant from
- 1:10:04Speaker 13: Little Shop of Horrors for 26 years.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: If you asked me 26 years.
- 1:10:07Speaker 13: Ago when I was going on the road tour and
- 1:10:09Speaker 13: I built.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: The plants, that I would still be doing it.
- 1:10:12Speaker 13: 26 years later, and still performing it, I'd say, oh yeah, well, I'm.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Going to make a career as a plant.
- 1:10:19Speaker 13: So, well, I guess I was well planted in this
- 1:10:21Speaker 13: situation anyway.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: So, there we go.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Nice. So that's still like the touring, like the Broadway
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: series kind of thing?
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: Well, we own the plants.
- 1:10:29Speaker 13: So, I mean, there's other people, but we own these
- 1:10:32Speaker 13: versions that we did for the Mencken tour.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: And we've been still doing it.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: I was going to have you tell where people can
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: find you, where to go on the Internet to see
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: your show, or where to look for you online.
- 1:10:44Speaker 13: Well, the great thing about Monster TV is Monstertvnetwork.com. So
- 1:10:49Speaker 13: you can go there every week, brand new shows. There's
- 1:10:53Speaker 13: always guest stars next week.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: From whenever it's broadcasted.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: There's Bela Gossi.
- 1:10:59Speaker 13: Junior and Ron Chaney and everyone will, it comes on
- 1:11:03Speaker 13: the show and the characters. So if you kind of
- 1:11:07Speaker 13: like the Muppet Show, this is kind of like Muppets
- 1:11:09Speaker 13: in Transylvania without being the Muppets.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: We're not the Muppets.
- 1:11:13Speaker 13: We're an offshoot of that stuff you grew up with.
- 1:11:18Speaker 13: But if you like monsters, this is the place to
- 1:11:21Speaker 13: have and learn about a lot of great characters. people
- 1:11:24Speaker 13: that are in the industry and have fun with the
- 1:11:26Speaker 13: characters so that's monster tv network.com sounds good all.

- 1:11:49Speaker 7: Been huge I mean like the suits.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: Themselves yeah I mean they all have people inside them
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: working them so it's um I went.
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: To the puppet museum in Georgia a couple years ago
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: It's amazing. They won't let you take pictures, but if
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: I could have stayed in there all day, I would have.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: I would have never left.
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: I'd just been sitting there talking to Kermit all day.
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: That's just cruel. Why would they not let you take pictures?
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:12:09Speaker 8: It's like, what am I going to do?
- 1:12:10Speaker 7: Does a flash degrade them?
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: Like, you know, whatever.
- 1:12:13Speaker 7: Like, oh, the stuffing.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: It's the Gartham. That's the one, the big beetle-looking crustacean ones. Yeah,
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: there's a picture of him standing next to that. I
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: was just in awe of that. I was like, dude,
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: that's awesome. It's so creepy, too.

- 1:15:36Speaker 18: Even a man who is pure in heart and says
- 1:15:38Speaker 18: his prayers by night may become a wolf when the
- 1:15:41Speaker 18: wolf bays.
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: And the author of the movie is the same.
