Transcript
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: everybody walk the cheesy popcorn this is Chris Miles I'm your host episode 64 sitting across the aisle from me my good friend and of our welcome to episode 64 we're uh we have a little bit of a situation going on here uh and that situation is and and we'll just be straight enough front about this neither one of us got the sea motor city that is correct I just see the trailer twice if they're counts that does not count I've seen the trailer at least three times
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, but this will be the first time we would have something to review.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this will be the first time that unfortunately folks we are not going to talk about the movie that we said we were going to talk about last week.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: However, uh, we have two different things that we're going to review and since we're in the middle of like a TV series of events, so to speak, I've got a TV show to review and you have, uh,
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: I have a movie review all right.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: So and now some other things we'll talk about those movies coming up just a second here, but of course this weekend and the first thing we always do on the show go ahead.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm sitting we're doing action action TV shows to get to that in a second, but yeah, okay.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you're absolutely right.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about our favorite action TV content.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: It this goes across.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you didn't put these in some sort of category.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: No, I just picked up three.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: But of course, this weekend, big huge release, surprisingly, that there was not at least in our area.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: There was not a Wednesday night show of this movie.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: When there usually is with these particular types of movies.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Spider-Man, brand new day,
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in some theaters today I think no today period all today period.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought it was just some theaters
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Today's Friday.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So it comes out today.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Today's Friday comes out today, right?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: So, so what will review that spoiler alert?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: We won't review it for two weeks though, but of course, in that time frame, the movie's still gonna be big and it's still gonna be huge.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think that we really need to say much about it.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the next seat.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think you said it.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say later on in the show, but that's okay.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: That we were gonna be reviewing it later.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Might as well come out, I mean, we're being honest, we're being honest, we're being honest.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, Zankan.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, at least I am.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Also coming out this week to prime, Amazon Prime is a movie called The Devil's Mouth.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: which I don't know how you describe a devil's mouth as somebody, but I'm gonna give it the good old college try.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: So the movies about five friends who sign up for a guided swim through a remote cave system along Thailand stunning coast.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: But their quests for fun and adventures soon turns into a desperate fight for survival as a bloodthirsty shark.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: Starts to pick them off one by one.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: Do we need another draws movie?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: No, let's see who's in it.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Katherine Newton, Lana Condor Are you don't care?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Gavin Casiglaryro.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Gavin.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do you even know who he is?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, exactly.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy Rose who's actually that's actually a girl's name
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, um, Nico, he gara, Nico.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then I'm not even gonna try to pronounce this guy's name.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: His first name is Tame, and I, that might even get a try.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a long time for you last name.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to butcher it because I don't want to offend him.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, that's coming out on Prime.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds to me like a bunch of, it sounds to me like a, they took, Friday the 13th and just threw it like the model for Friday the 13th where they feature like a bunch of note name actors and throw them all together in some sort of like survival situations.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Say, here's survival this, in this case, it's a shark.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: So I think we both know what movie we're reviewing.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we need to talk about it unless you have something else up your sleeve or something or whatever.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: So in two weeks when we come back we'll be reviewing Spider-Man for you.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think at that point we might be able to do some spoiler alert too, but oh yeah.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: The first spoiler alert is the fact that nobody remembers who Spider-Man is in this movie.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: But if you saw the other Spider-Man's, you know why.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Was that endgame that they did it?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: Or was it actually the actual Spider-Man movie that came out?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Was it homecoming?
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Homecoming?
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, that wasn't the last one.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: No way out was the last one.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: No way out was the last one.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: And they did it no way out, didn't that sort of work?
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think so.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Dr.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Strange, the old time, or anything.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so there we go.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the way.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you want to, you want to head us with your movie first since you're on the category?
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: I can do that.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: I ended up by circumstance.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was, we were watching our grandkids go to summer, so we get to watch them more often now, and I usually take them home on Tuesdays, nights, and they wanted to go see the live action
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we want to go see Moana with my grandkids, Elena, and Tino, and Tino, obviously you guys know from the last time he was on, he reviewed.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: He famously reviewed, and we're just gonna leave you five.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Toy Story Five, and what's what, and Minions, and Minions, by the way.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And...
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping to maybe give him a quick call because he had some really interesting thoughts about Moana.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think he threw you off with his Toy Story 5 review.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sure did, ready for it.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: You sure did.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that you caused him, did you say least one year of college, I have not.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, I will.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, grandpa, wait a go.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, I know.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Take him to see Malana first before you take him to see a tourist.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Malana was there.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: It just happened.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, OK.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, here's my take.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'll, and then I'll, you can do your thing.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll call him in the meantime.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: 50 lashes of the wet noodle for you.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Spoiler, nothing new in this movie from the animated movie.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing new is the ever the rock live action movies the young girl Katherine and her last name is Laga Aya I think that I'm maybe saying that wrong she was okay, but you know to be honest with you.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think the animated version entertained me more now.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be interesting to see what a 12-year-old stake is on that, but that was mine.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: The best part for me was the way they did keep the little creatures on the boats.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it's hard to tough their coconuts or monkeys or across between a coconut and a monkey, but they kept that in with the live action, which I really, that was the best part for me.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I really enjoyed that part.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I would give it a 7.5 because it's entertaining, but it isn't better than the original.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: And if you saw the original, you just seen the original with live people.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: in my opinion.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: So you do your thing.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to see if I can get you know.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen into the other live action?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen Cinderella?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen Snow White?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Snow White.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: So like that either.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: But it was, it was like watching the cartoon all very young.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: But like people.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's the point.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: All they did was just put live people in those roles.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it just doesn't, I don't know.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes I can't remember if I'm trying to take it forever.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know where we actually
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking of Mogli jungle book, because there was a live action animated, but they were really different, those two were really different, and so the live action worked well, you know, juxtaposed to the animated, unlike this.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: So okay, do your thing, I'll try to see if I can get it.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: So my thing is a show that TV show that has gotten anywhere from 26 to 30% rotten rating on the rotten tomatoes.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think as of yesterday, it was the number one or no, sorry, let me go back.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: So last week, I think it was the number one rated show on Netflix.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now it slipped down to number three, but it's been a week since it's been out a little but actually I think it's been two weeks now since it's been out.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Bear bones.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm reviewing the hawk from Netflix because this is like the series right and I had a note about that TV show just coincidentally the TV show the hawk because I was curious because the first one I saw the review without the review but I saw the teaser I was like this looks like they took shoot him a Gavin out of out of a happy Gilmore and tried to give him his own TV show you know because the hawk kind of has that shoot him a Gavin attitude from from happy Gilmore
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I just felt like, wow, so you just totally ripped off Adam stuff and then gave it a new like gave it a facelift gave some will feral jokes in it.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then did your standard, you know, I'm will feral here.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: I am make me roar hear me roar and all that kind of stuff.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: How many, how many did you watch?
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's 10 episodes.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: I watched all 10 and I want five hours of my life back because I think each episode is like a half hour.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so a little more.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I think there were rough, we'll call it a half hour because it doesn't match the first three.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is is that I want all five hours back because the show is absolutely, and I'm sorry.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna say this before I say what I was about to say it.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I know why it hits with the younger audience.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Here's why it hits with the younger audience.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: You grew up on health.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: So because you grew up on Houth, which is a fabulous role for Will Ferrell, but because you grew up on Elf, Will Ferrell was like, he was the guy you idolized as a kid.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not idolized, but he was that TV persona that movie persona that when you were a kid, you were like, oh my God, this guy is great.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like here's a perfect example.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: David Hasselhoff for me, right?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right, writer was one of my favorite shows growing up as a kid.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I liked writing.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Then he got into Baywatch.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a much they decided to become a singer right.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Are you fucking kidding me and then you're in German And then yes in Germany.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's a huge huge but let's not talk about that And then he got into like you he was in a Broadway.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it wasn't Broadway But he was in a music actually I think it was Broadway now that I take yeah that it was it was called Jekyll and Hyde yep.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: He played jekyll in the Broadway version and I'm like what the hell are you doing?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a perfect example of somebody who I grew up with that I didn't really I Well, I kind of idolized them because I loved the car right kit was a car was great and the voice It was a transam if I'm correctly the guy there the voice was a firebird tea top Yeah, well, the guy who did the voice was also in another TV show.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he played the principle in boy meets world correct I think he was on another like
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, here's what I was going to say about so if you if you grew up watching elf this is why you like real fair all and this is probably why you like the jokes that he does plus if you grew up on elf you're probably in your 20s maybe early 30s and some of this humor still still works, but as a 50 year old and will fails way older than that but just for me in my 50s
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: I laughed a few times.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest with you.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the jokes were funny, but like, few and far between, maybe a laugh once an episode, if that.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I know there were at least two episodes where I didn't laugh at all.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: And it's crude.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's crude.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's crude, but it's crude, but that's Will Ferrell.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's always been crude.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he does.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like even in, he was in a hockey movie called Blades of some time.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can't remember what it was going to be.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: Blades of glory.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the other red car movie too has same thing.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, tag.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: I like Talladega nights, but it works in Talladega nights because that doesn't work here, but that's what you expect out of somebody who's a NASCAR fan, right?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: You expect them to be crude, you expect them to be all this stuff.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: In golf, you don't expect that.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: but it's also the the added drama that that adds to the world of golf right and I understand why did it because he was trying to pull a hey what if happy Gilmour actually existed in golf but maybe instead it was happy Gilmour added with like a side of shooter megabon or yes or let me go back it was shooter megabon it was shooter megabon added with a side of happy Gilmour right either ways would I thought it was pull that it's a way no I guess not done you can because we're not interrupting me right we said we weren't going to do this anymore
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, it's just critics agree that it's not that great.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's way too, first of all, 10 episodes is way too long.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: But obviously, there are people out there who want some kind of like brain dead summer escape.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: And this is kind of what it is for him.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's an nostalgic bin if you're a huge fan of Will Ferrell.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: I am not.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's...
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: Tell of the ignites I think blades of glory and then elf are probably the only movies that he's been in that I actually I actually think are okay And I'm giving blades of glory like an honorable mention because it's bad too.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you know, there's some great supporting actors and I will say this
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: it ends well.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: It ends with a Hollywood story like finish that you would want.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: So all of the stuff that happens meets a good ending.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm glad that I watched it all the way through because I'll be quite honest with you.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Episode five or six, I'm like I don't want to watch this garbage anymore.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like it just it was just stupid.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: It was predictable.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it was just, you know, it was just, it was Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now here's the thing though.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's got an interesting cast, all right.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: So Will Ferrell, of course, plays Lonnie the Hawke Hawkins, fortune, themster.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's how you say her name.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: She's like an up-and-coming comic.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I think she's a. Yeah, she's been not there.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what's her name.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: What's her name?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Fortune fortune.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: They just go.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: She's going by fortune.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Is it femsters?
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: I know she goes by fortune.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: She just goes by fortune.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: She places caddy.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I think she's I think she's I think she's brilliant in the role.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a she's funnier than him.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: She's well, she's funnier than him.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: She's funnier than him.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: She's funnier than him.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: But they also gave her some of the funny lines like that's the point they did and I don't know if she improd those if she did that's great She is an up-and-coming comic, so it's great to see that he gave her like a shot in the in the movie I think fortune's funny, but I but at the same token there are sometimes when I think fortune's not funny I mean, that's the way the fortune favors the prepared well and maybe maybe she was more prepared in the show who knows
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Molly Shannon plays Lonnie's ex-wife and there are days, there are times when I'm like, oh okay, it works.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, this is not a rule for her, but she seems bad, but you didn't watch it all the way through.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I'm saying.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you watch it all the way through, you're going to have a better idea for her.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: You're absolutely right.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's played mad in the beginning, but as you get to the end,
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: it has that Hollywood ending and it makes everything better and it makes it stomachable.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: One month episode four so you haven't finished.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: And that's someone else told me the same thing.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: The first three you're not going to we didn't like it and then we moved on and we liked it so we'll see.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: And and and I'm gonna be even even more blunt about it.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like it up with the way all the way up until probably episode eight Oh, and episode eight.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: I was kind of like, okay, maybe I'll just go right to nine.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was still more of the same you can't you have to There's something you'd miss along the way if you did that
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least, Jimmy Tattro, I think so you say his last name with T-A-T-R-O again, I'm sorry if I pushed it.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, he plays Lonnie's son, and the kid is absolutely fantastic.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I'd like to see him in some more roles as well too and see how he goes.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: So bottom line, what am I going to rate it?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Probably no more than a five.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's entertaining if you want to remove your brain and not worry about it, it is OK.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, here's why it was number one on Netflix because it was the it was the only new thing on Netflix the weekend It came out true.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, go ahead and I yeah, you're quiet enough.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: So now you can take it.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I My gave it more of a cross between happy getting more in tin cup with Kevin crossner
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Tenshop is way better because you'd say my the of a expro trying to come back Yeah, you said that to me the other day while I was watching it.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen ten cups?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen ten cups and I don't agree with you.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: I and I'm saying two cup is on a totally different level It's a different thing about the console of a pro trying to come back Yeah, but that's the only parallel you can make between the two right now.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: The rest of it is is
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's not good.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's not good at all.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't care for now since you since you
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm we're going to the table is ready for us to call him to give his more on a review.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: So should we use your phone as you got a better better audio and put it up to the thing I'll call him better on phone, but whatever.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I kind of just why don't you just be honest, he asked for my phone over because I'm so awesome.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to just talk to me.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's really what it is.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't want to say that.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: I got a chance to watch pressure the D Day movie.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, speaking of that, I do want to say something else though, before you go any further.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, the Hawk, yeah, you could probably pass on it.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: But here's something you shouldn't pass on.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I should have had this ready and I apologize for that.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: But there is an absolute awesome series on Netflix right now.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's only four episodes.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's emin nominated at the very least.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I started watching it by accident.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Um, only because it was on while I was eating dinner, death by lightning.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: an amazing many series if you want to call it that it's four episodes.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: It basically tracks like the the election of the 20th president who was not Grover Clinton.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: It was a Grover James Garfield.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: No James Garfield.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: No James Garfield was a 20th president.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: He was also like the
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: juxtapositions, if you will, the life of the assassinator and the life of the assassini.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's in a word.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: I said, I just made it up.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: If it's not, I only watch like the first maybe 30 minutes of the first episode and I was hooked.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I'm a pressure was really good.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm going to review.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to talk about that next time as well, too.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because if I remember correctly, I think I picked
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, drama is going to be our next next part of the next topic we talk about on the next episode and this leads into a perfectly.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now go ahead and talk about pressure.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just thought it was it was a well-made movie and what I really did about.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: What is it about?
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's about the decision to pick the date to invade Normandy.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of it was based on weather.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a lot of it is just, you know, was at the right time to do it.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: But you know what a point's out is.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: In the end, what a point's out to me is that higher ups,
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: make decisions for the soldiers that involve them getting hurt and the higher ups being in a bunker waiting to find out how many of them were hurt or killed and whether it's a success or not.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the best description to me of war.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: you know you five or six or seven or eight generals or whoever they are in a room in a bunker safe saying okay this is what we're gonna here's the go let's do it and in the meantime these young kids are all getting shot up net war hasn't hasn't changed since the beginning of time you know the guys in charge are always at the back of the line so
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a good movie to give you the behind the scenes of what's going on with the decision that that was made.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so you can, if you have something to say, if not, I'm going to call this young fellow that we all know.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: So basically to kind of some made everything, we don't, don't go see Hawk, don't watch Hawk.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, unless you have nothing better to do and you just want to sit on your couch and eat a whole bag of cheetos,
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, no, you'd probably have to eat probably four bags of Cheetos.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Depending upon how much you eat We did not review Motor City unfortunately, so we do apologize for that But we are looking forward to reviewing Spiderman the next time we meet again and of course We had the wonderful review of Moana, but that's gonna lead us into the next portion of the program before we do that though Hopefully we can get Tino on the line here and we can talk to him about his review of Moana and what he thought of it
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if it's not going to necessarily work, it may not necessarily work, but we do appreciate all of you though that give us comments about Tino and his appearance when he was on the show last time.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think he had a ton of fun.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he has something going for him there, and it would be interesting to hear his take on Moana as well.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: In the meantime though, let's talk about some of our favorite action TV shows of all time.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: I have three.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: So go ahead once you go with your three and of yes, of course, two of them were our older.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: I bet their westerns.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Nope, they're not.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh wow.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: One was a show that I...
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't lost that bad.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: Rarely missed.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: A Hawaii 50.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: which was just it was really good and I lived in Hawaii for three and a half years so I got a chance to see some of the neighborhoods I used to hang out in.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: The next one is Mission Impossible, the TV show, with Peter Graves and all of those guys which was at one of the best, I mean the Mission Impossible always are cool, mostly because you could do today.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: But what they were able to do and pull off back then was pretty cool.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: That my sleeper, my third one, is a show that was only on for a little bit.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: The story is a veteran, female veteran, who decides to become a private detective.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: and she basically works out of a bar.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's where her clients meet her and she's a badass.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the show's called Sump Town.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it only aired maybe one season, but
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: The main character was played by the way by Kobe Smolders, Smolders, Smolders, okay.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: And her main character in Dex, Pario, who is an Army veteran dealing with PTSD, and she figures the best way to deal with it is to be a private detective.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_00]: She takes these really strange cases on.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: boyfriend kind of a situation there who helps her out a couple of times too and I just thought Doris and I watched every episode they had on and we were like this is a really good show and then they never brought it back So the action in it was really good.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was believable.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: She was very believable.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's a title character so That's my three
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: So you got two shows from the 60s and then when's that last show from, like, arrow wise or year wise or decade wise?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Which one?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: The last show you just talked about sometime when was that out in available?
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Was it 80 so was it a 90 show was 2000s or later than that?
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to see this is how do you watch the whole show?
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: How do you not know?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it was a couple of years ago, sir.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, my goodness.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: But let me look it up for you.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: Wait a minute.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: You're killing me small.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so three shows for you.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm gonna beat you because I have more than three Not that this is a contest of any way shape or form So I'm just gonna go right off the bat.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not a I mean few it's a contest.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: We already know that It's a good thing I'm not a Trump supporter because you probably wouldn't play me in pickleball, but anyway 2001
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: is where I'm going to go with the first one.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Probably one of the greatest TV shows of all time because it was the very first show of its kind that featured a day in the life.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, revolutionsize the genre of real time 24 is the first TV show that I'm going to pick because it literally took place in a 24 hour period and that's what the whole premise of the show was about.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, intense gut fights, uh, what an amazing pace and just a 24 hour countdown format that was so cool.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, and, uh, hi.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: I really loved it.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: It was a great show.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of the guy's name that was in the Keith or Sovlin is the guy that plays like the lead.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a great show.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then buffing the vampire slayer for multiple reasons, another great action show.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was like the quintessential 90s TV show and by far none better.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned Knight Rider, so we're going to honor a bunch of Knight Rider here as well.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what a great car.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: Some great stunts that
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: influenced car, I guess you could put it in that sense.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Also in the 80s, two other great action shows Miami Vice and another one that is called the A team, two great ultimate 80s action shows and there couldn't be anything better than that.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everyone, I'm Andrew Sogado, and you're watching The Rise Network.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, left off with Miami Vice and Knight Rider, and then going to go to the $6 million man is going to be the very last one.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're going to have an issue with, you know, I don't think it's going to be able to reach him, because I think what's going on is we're in an area where I don't think we're going to be able actually to receive the phone calls, because we're in a different location.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: You're phone just to see.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: We can try it, but I don't think it's going to work because I, because she's calling me.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't get her phone call now, that doesn't mean, but it's going with my voice mail for some reason.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Because because we're down in a basement, and we probably don't have cell phone service, and that's probably why it's not working.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: You want to try it?
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to work with me either because it's doing the same thing.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's flashing bars.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was trying to say.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I do not have cell phone service down here, neither do you.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: The only reason why I'm able to do anything is because it's wireless.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: How come I can text because that's done through Wi-Fi?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Texting is done through Wi-Fi, it's not done through phone calls.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: So sorry, you know, apologize, but due to the location of where we're filming this because of other circumstances outside of our control, we ended up filming in a, we ended filming this episode, recording this episode in another spot.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we don't have cell phone service down here because we're in the basement.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's going to do it for the show.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe in two weeks, we'll be able to have Tino on and he can talk about Moana, maybe he'll be able to talk about Spider-Man as well, too, since we're going to be talking about then as well.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: But those are some shows to check out, in case it's something you want to do, some older shows, maybe you haven't seen them, maybe they're not on the my list.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: format in whatever streaming platform you are, but some great stuff to check out nonetheless.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's episode 46.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys so much for tuning and making us the number one show.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the rise network number one.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: We we totally appreciate that.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your co-host Chris.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: When I'm who am I?
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Antivar.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who you are.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: Can you change your name?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel so bummed that we couldn't get Tino on because I know he was right.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: He got his Moana ready to go.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's unfortunate and we do apologize, you know.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: You do like in two weeks when we come back I just have him review if you weren't on your phone You would have heard me when I said that I heard you say something, but they rarely pay attention As you know we know that anyway, that's gonna do for the episode folks Thank you again so much until next time save us some popcorn some cheesy pop
