- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: in my favorite priority free agent or undrafted free agent.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: I have you want to call it of this draft class.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I am pumped.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: I could do a whole episode just on this one player.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: What's a super super pumped about excited.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: See what he can bring.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 1,659 of the 49st verse podcast.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I just wanted to start off just with
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: condolences, sympathy.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, man, all did Smith passed away yesterday and, you know, if this year first I'm hearing about it, I'm sorry, just brace everybody's heart kid was 36 years old.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Delivering pizzas to a homeless shelter.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then passed away and how or later, just absolutely just terrible and indeed.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, my condolences to his family and to everybody, you know, uh, booby Dixon who a lot of us know and love and if, you know, he comes out to the four-air rush events all the time.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Really great guy.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of the foundo and administered CPR called the like, it's just horrible and horrifying.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know people like talk about like how great of a football player it was and all those things, but just the connections.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: in the way that it affects everybody that's still led.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's just horrible.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I say all of this to say this, cherish your loved ones, cherish the time that you have.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Who knows when our number is called or whatever that is, but just, um,
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: try to be present and try to be, you know, there for those that need help and, you know, just just be thankful for the time you have.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: But just absolutely horrifying tragic and just just wanted to put something out there.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just, you know, we're here to talk sports and enjoy ourselves and it's the off season.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: But man, it's a constant reminder of what life is and what life isn't, and so just be present with those that matter to you and don't take times for granted, please, please, please, please, please, please, but rest in peace and hopefully all the loved ones just thoughts out to those guys, you're incredible.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: of this 91 man roster countdown.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: We've done it multiple years in row now.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: We rank one through 91, the importance of the players impact to the $40, 20, 20, 60s in the loan.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is not long term effects.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: And today's episode, we got number 59, 263 as we count them down.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Going to be a fun, what's up, Kevin?
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: We got a lot of fun people on the chat today.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, guys?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: everybody's showing up.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thank you for putting that in their drama appreciate you guys.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Ben.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what it is.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: There we go, drama watch it on Twitch solo.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people don't know.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're not big on Twitch, but we are wherever you watch and or listen.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: We get most of our traction through Spotify and Apple podcasts, but YouTube, we're on Twitter, we're on Instagram.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: We don't go live on TikTok, but we do post clips there.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: We're on Twitch.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're on daily motion.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know if we have subscribers there, but we're all over the place.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Wherever it is, you watch and or listen, we are thankful.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's so dronimo.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you man.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Hold it down the fort over on the Twitch front.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: you are awesome.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: So let's get to why not start it.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: We got a long horn hook and baby.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Number 63.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Balmester.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the punter and usually like I kind of alter the ranking so that the 53 like you get your kicker and your punter and your long snapper and that range.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Usually I try to do this here, I didn't.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Because one
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: there's a punner competition.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just, okay, we have our punner.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Balmester, technically, is not even on this roster, which flutches our numbers just a little bit, but I don't care he's part of this team.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: The reason why he's not, you know, technically on the roster right now, he can't get his damn visa, which is just ridiculous, man, like this dude's in the NFL.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: let's get them a damn work feces so we can get over here now the funny thing is for airs playing australia week one so i think we could be there but it's just absolutely ass-in-ine from you know a logistics governmental standpoint just come on man it is ridiculous but
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: This is a fun, fun, fun player, and I know that everybody has such, myself included, regards my disdain for kickers and punters, and using draft capital on those, does not, and make no mistake, ladies and gentlemen.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: does that mean I just like punters and kickers.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that they are pretty much replaceable unless you're a top three at your position, which no drafted player ever has been or ever will be even first round picks that have been used on C-Bass and whatever else like did really work out.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: John Groot almost had a cut C-Bass because he was so terrible his second year, but whatever.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Their borderline replacement, but they have such great value.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: And they affect the game so much and, you know, we have broken down every single special teams play for the 49ers for four consecutive season.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't missed one play.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so my first coordinator position with special teams like I the value the hidden yardage matters so much and like, any pediaro or you kidding me, like, like I can just say two names
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: back to back and this should illustrate how important special teams is.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, Eddie Pinedaro Jake Moody.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have to give context.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: You hear those two names back to back and you're like, yeah, oh, it's funny, you know, we, sorry, my throat.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: We uh, I, I stock up on autographed jerseys for all of our events at the 40 hours for our road trips.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: And like, man, it's funny because every year I'm like, dude, there's no way we can give all these jerseys.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I should show you guys the boxes I have stacked.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so just excited.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I almost got my dealer said he goes, he got some chick moody autographed jerseys we got done to do with like, you want to give me something for them?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like,
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: should I bring those as like a negative it like you know just give them away almost as like kind of a joke and I was like no, that's not cool like that's not cool and so like I like push back against it, but I did think about it.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: There was a good five to six seconds where I was like, Oh, this would be hilarious.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like if somebody's a runner up in trivia, give them a Jake moody autograph, but I was like, no, that's not what I want to I hope Jake moody has a positive career.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also very thankful he's no longer on the team, but
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: You just hear two names and you're just like, wow.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very different impact just on the way we feel, but also the game.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's a puncher's matter.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Balmester matters.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: He is a stud.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now Chris Winkie would be proud, because Jack Balmester is a 27 year old rookie.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: he's 27.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now his path to the NFL is quite unique to say the least.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's from Australia, went to Michigan State, red shirted, then went to Utah, had a great career there, then transferred to Texas, last year and his last year and was incredible.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's so sorry.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: My quick kind of synapses or title for Jack Balmester who I do have, you know, over a quarter of this waitman.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he is going to win the job if he can freaking get in.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: best in big games that like we we go through punner analytics like that's a real thing that I did today.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: But he was best in big games at Utah.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was best in big games at Texas and he has experience.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's 27 years old as rookie.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: He played 50 plus games like a fun fun fun player.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really like this guy.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Kim bro.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the super chat.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: You are incredible whenever I see you in here.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: I get happy.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Love the countdown.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Love the faithful.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you had a good anniversary.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Jc can't wait for the Niners home events.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're still working on those.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: And it's probably only going to be one or two.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: man.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pumped about it too.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like a big reason why we moved here was so I could do this.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: I used to fly in for a home event so that we could, you know, host people.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then the nighters did what they did.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: I want to dive into that.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's okay.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, like trying to figure that out.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: So once we get more details and get everything signed, uh, and
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: all that stuff done.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some time.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get that all delivered to you.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Look at Joe coming in right guy.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: First round Hall of Famer, but only one.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, take it a who was the kicker that they took in the second round and you didn't even make the roster the second year.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like you just can't do it, man.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: You just can't
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: You just can't do it, um, we clearly I like it.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Josh, give me a putters not afraid to tackle.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: And that was all of our Mitch with snowsky's like favorite thing.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: One of the worst draft picks of 49ers history.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I know he got a second contract of whatever else.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Never had a top five year.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he was the highest drafted punner in the NFL for, I think, he's still on a roster.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's got his back issues, but he's still the highest drafted punner.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: in the NFL it like never had a top five year had a borderline top five year a second contract when he was paid like third highest punner but like never lived up to the traffic never lived up to that not that I don't like him.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: loved Mitch loved his attitude, one of the best holders in the field goal again, we break down every damn specialties play ever.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: That was awesome.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you just can't.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Jack Bell measter, he's six two two oh nine.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big cat and he could run too.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was a four four guy.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: He ran a four point four six like he's an athlete.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he's born and Australia was in Badego.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: I hope I'm saying that correctly.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: I know somebody just ears just screech and I apologize.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Played cricket growing up.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: He was in the Badego football league.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: The Sandhurst Dragons, baby.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Trained at the punt factory in Australia.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Same process.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Literally that Mitch was snowsky went through.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: This punt kicker factory where they developed the soccer and Aussie rule football players into Ponder's kickers.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Utah, that's a pipeline, that's where Mitch win as well.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: The 40 tires like their guys from all Australia.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: They bring them in all the time.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: They really, really do.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a legit, can't battle.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of the better ones between Jack Balmester and Coralis Waitman, who we already covered.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so you've got a vet versus a high-up side rookie, 27-year-old rookie, so you use the term rookie sparingly.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's rookie versus experience and, you know, Boutmester, he's a personality by the way.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's a fun guy.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: There was a podcast out where they were interviewing him at Texas, they was the inside Texas program I think it was.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I hope I didn't incorrectly name that one.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm mad at myself right now.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was asked like, what's his favorite thing about America?
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: He said Chick-fil-A, he eats Chick-fil-A every single Monday.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Has since he's been at Texas, yeah, I get it.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I get it.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite thing about them doesn't fall into the analytics category, it falls into the big game category.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of people, I'm a long horn, so understand that.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hugo back to last year, the Texas First Ohio State, which was a terrible game.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was a defensive, you know, whatever back and forth, archmaning was terrible as worst game and as young career, go watch any of the games after that.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty freaking awesome.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: He had that bad game.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: They had the bad Florida game after that.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: He was a credible best quarterback in the country.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Not named Fernando Mendoza, those last games, but I digress.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: The only reason why the long horns had a chance to win that game against Ohio State was Jack Balmester.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: He was unbelievable.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Four for four pawns inside the 20.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: He had three 50 yard kicks.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like the biggest plays of the game were defense and Jack Balmester.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: kept him in the game to the fourth quarter.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Texas lost that game, but it wouldn't be because of him.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then you go back to his Utah game.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: Utah, BYU, the Holy War, whatever you want to call it, like huge game.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Utah beat BYU.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: This would have been a year removed.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess 2024, he was the MVP of the damn game.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: And a rivalry game, this dude, listen to this.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, these are his punts.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think, yeah, it's six punts and I outlined every single one.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, again, I went through and broke down planning tape for two years ago, BYU Utah, I'm a sick man.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: I can't help it.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why I'm here in, and that's why I'm smiling.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to these punts.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is all in the Utah BYU game, okay?
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: He had a 56 yard punt to start the game inside the 15 yard line down punt out of bounds at the five yard line punt 58 yarder that rolled it to the end zone barely as bad coverage should have been down at the one yard line.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so like you look at it's like touch back.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what happened?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I went back and found the play.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's absolutely bullshit.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: It bounced at the three and slowly rolled in coverage just didn't get there.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Then the next punt down inside the tin and the last kick was fair caught at the nine yard line.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like barely won the game.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like MVP of the Holy War, Jack Balmester big games, big games, big games.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's what he does.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing 53 games, 213 points, 43.8 average, not amazing.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Hang time, not near as good as Coralist waitmen.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's probably the biggest discrepancy.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want the big game kicker or do you want the experience with hang time kicker?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's Coralist waitmen.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's hang time, he's going to keep that ball up in the air for a long time.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: You want an impact punner that could pin teams inside the 10, 15, 10, 5 yard line.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's Jack Balmester.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, his ceiling is way higher, but.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: that's where he is.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: I've got $15,000 guaranteed, but again, like the contract for Jack Bell, Mr. is pending because of the damn work visa.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Get it straight.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I just bothers me.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, we're starting to show off with a punter battle.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why not let's get it.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'll look at this Thomas.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Congrats to show Montana the goat.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: Just turned 70 this week.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's still handsome.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's still handsome.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Kim Pro, remember when Wishanowski did the fake on his own, loved it.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: We never fake it.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shenan has called zero fake punts.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: In 10 seasons, he has allowed zero fake punts.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: The only fake punt was negated by a penalty.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: uh... mistress outskie just said you know what there's nobody over ever is going to run it gets the first down but they was rony bill of course it was rony bill had like a holding call and got called back whatever uh... but yeah it's weird zero fake punts there are just some areas where cash at it is the most conservative
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, play caller in the NFL, not a lot of them, but like yeah, going forward on forth and punting.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: He does not like to gamble in those areas.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Captain?
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you all.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: Kim, bro, you talk.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take two.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there we go.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Howdy.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Balmester was certainly a weapon for the horns.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Could be a sneaky undrafted free agent.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's where all punters should go.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just be real.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Every putter in kicker, you should never draft one.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like if there is a one and 1,000% chance that that final pick of the draft could be brought perty, you spend a thousand of those picks on a quarterback or on a position that matters.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Kickers, you sure it's held on draft kicker in the third round, but that's what it is.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Tommy?
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're not too late.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're good, you're good, you're good.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, look at this, Tommy.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you use it as a government, Dave?
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, John is a diddy spell it right.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people, no, he didn't spell it right.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: My name is misspelled, right?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: I am Jay O'N, A-T-H-O-Id.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not Nathan at the end of it.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's Jonathan.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why my mom spelled it that way, but there's no age.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever I go by, John, it's jail agent.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just a, yeah, just a big mess.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: Just a big mess.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now I pretty excited about this one.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite priority free agent, comes in number 62, Khalil Deekens, the Titan out of Penn State.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: They put out so many great tight ends in the past like 20 years.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil Deekens could be the next one.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I was very, very shocked.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: How do I say this?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I was shocked Khalil Deekens didn't get drafted.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't what a my graded players.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: I knew of him.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: I knew who he was.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dave Brugler had a six round pick on him.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, yeah, it's gonna be a six fifth six round guy.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then in the draft, we're all the tight ends went early.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was crazy.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: That run in the second and third round on tight ends and the draft this year was just abnormal.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that 13 personnel is kind of taken the lead by storm, whatever else.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: How Khalil Dinkens was able to slip through it's perplexing, but I'm thankful.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Because the diners should have drafted a tighted last year.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I could change what they I don't know that one thing.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: What they from the 20 25 draft I would swap Ronaldo green out for Harold fan and junior.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Harold fan and junior is my favorite player in the draft last year is my number one and I love that guy and I just there was just something so unique about them.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now he might be he's already a top five tight in the NFL.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: I digress
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: You needed a sighted last year didn't get one.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: You needed a sighted in this year didn't get one.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: You only had eight picks.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: I get that.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: But with the aging injured George Kittle, I'm just like, gosh, they got Luke Farrow's just like, oh, yeah, you know, gross.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil tickets though.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: If you were to tell me the Niners took Khalil tickets instead of Enrique Cruz or Phil and the Blank, we, you know, Khalil black, whatever.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Probably would have been a stretch there too.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just really like this guy.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: This guy did great huge size at a 64251.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Niners do not go after small tightens.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: I remember the Canadian city argument, I'm just like, dude, they don't go after 63 under size tightens.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: They've never drafted a 63 guy.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: 64 bigger, 64250, there's a big dude.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Size elite blockade at past catching upside.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: the parallels between Khalil Tinkens and probably, you know, one of my favorite titans to this draft class was Oscar Delp out of Georgia, who was this elite blocker, but showed athleticism, just never was used or called upon that Georgia.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil Tinkens is like that, you say George Kittle was like that.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Khalil Tinkens is not the athlete that Oscar Delp is.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: He is not the athlete that George Kittle is, but the profile
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the job he was asked to do at Pid State, Khalil Dickens, he's a blocker that kid catch, just wasn't asked to do it a lot.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: You at 37 career receptions for Khalil Dickens, say Dickens, kiddo, say Dickens, Dill.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: So the question is, can you see him as more than that?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Or is he just that Charlie Warner, you know, Luke Feral role where you're just to actually are offensive linemen that can move a little bit
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the issue.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: Gonna be wearing Jersey number 82, Cleal.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: And again, listen to these Comps for mock draftable.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oscar Delp, 87% tile.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Mayer, 86%, Cam Law 284%.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: The athletic profile and size.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: tracks to the NFL.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now Cam Latu is just too soft and had mental drop issues.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: But the thing that the 49ers loved, like Oscar tell Michael Mayor Cam Latu.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, check, check, check.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like he fits a mold.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: where you're like, all right, let's roll.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he was at Pid State, you know, I see the James Franklin, yeah, Cowachippedo, what's up, man?
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Pid State Fire in Franklin is gonna be huge for that program.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: But like the what they about Franklin, which I always thought he was crazy.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: He was a recruiter.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: if you don't know about James Franklin, the key appeal look like dude.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: He has a policy he would not hire assistant coaches unless they had attractive spouses.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: He said if you can't sell yourself to the opposite sex, you can't sell yourself like recruit kids to come to your school, which crazy, I don't know, maybe he's odd to something, but like it's just crazy to me.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: uh... but j's frankly couldn't recruit and you'd like and kibro right here i can't stand pit stay but i like deacons and i i like deacons too i really do and went to north alley hany high school where he shine and led to a four star ready was a team captain multiple times now calilty gets dad was a quarterback in the NFL a super bowl when he quarterback aid it play
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: but he was a practice squad guy for eight seasons in the NFL.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: So you love the fact that he was with the Saints when they won their Super Bowl.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's eight years in the NFL as kind of their emergency third practice squad quarterback.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: So you have that pedigree there.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: You have that too.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: This dad was in the NFL for eight years.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: He knows, do this, you know what I mean?
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Clil Tickets committed to Penn State.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was a vital piece in their past blocking sets, which the 49ers need that.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't much of a receiver, but worked his ass off.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, you know, is one of the producers of this series.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Loves is due.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's a Penn State guy.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, throwing the out there.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, hope that's okay.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he talked about how he watched, he could so much and throughout the career, just the blocking needs did everything that they wanted him to do.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, now with the pain of Luke Feral, what you're paying him, I was hoping they move on and draft somebody or bring in an event, still wish they would bring in a vet, but it's what it is.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: That much turnover with the kiddo question mark in the injuries will see.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: But if George kiddo does miss time early, which I think that he will and probably should don't rush them back.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: 32 on a kill.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's short time frame.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's rough.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: I get all the optimism.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: I get all that.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's beautiful.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: Just man.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Get that right.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: You have to have kiddo for your run.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot go win a Super Bowl with Luke Feral as your Titan 1.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just can't.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: So there's hope because the Titan room is shallow.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just how much of an impact can a rookie priority free agent tight in make early on tight in I argue tight in and probably quarterback are the two most difficult transition positions in the NFL.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's the hardest it really really is because you've got to learn all the past game sets you've got to learn all the routes concepts,
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: you you've got to know everything.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: I used to tell guys like if you want to be a head coach coach quarterbacks if you can't coach quarterbacks coach tight ends and then the defensive side like all right line backers that's going to get you because then again you're working off and defense you're working I'm sorry your work in you know front seven run game fits and pass game fits like you've got to be involved in run game and passing and so quarterbacks tight ends line backers.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: safe these to a less-sourced net and then offensive line.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you coach running backs or D-line you should never, you're not going to be head coach.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're just too pigeonholed.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: not say you'd never be that, but anyway, it takes for that what you will.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_01]: College career for Khalil Jenkins, you know, 47 games, 37 receptions, 10.8 yards per catch, it's good 7 touchdowns on 37, like he's got some juice to him.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the athletic, he just looks the part.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: What you can say for almost all Penn State tight ends, they go after athletes.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: Now you ran a 4 7, he's not a blazer and his 3 cone was bad.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not a change of direction guy either.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: But you see the athletic profile, the bend, which it's like, wait, you say bend, he doesn't change direction well.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: His body kind of control and contortion, like you're like, man, a big guy, he just, he moves with grace.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: And you see it, and you're just like, huh, maybe he's faster than I thought.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he's a little bit shaker than I thought, but then the testing numbers don't say so, but then you watch the tape and it's like, man, he's kind of,
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: flexible like it's there's there's a lot to it now.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: Dane Progler in the athletic again.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: Khalil Dinkens was not one of our draft profiles.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: He had a six round grade on Khalil Dinkens, and these were some of Dane Brugler's notes in the for the athletic.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: Blocks with the purpose consistently gets movement, finishes blocks with attitude, moves well for a big guy, but change to direction is a great.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: Good hands, but wasn't a priority in the past game, and here's kind of the summary quote for Khalil Dinkens quote, overall Dinkens has the athletic traits and flashes
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: As both the past catcher and a blocker, his best football should be ahead of him, he can find NFL success if he lands with the team willing to cultivate his talent in quote.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: No major injuries for Khalil Diggins, which that's huge.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I just keep going back through this.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just like, man, why was he undrafted?
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: And such a tiety, priority, draft, it's weird.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Is it, like,
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: pedigrees there, I don't, I couldn't find anything off the field, couldn't find any injuries, just like kind of weird.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: And the 40 hours paid up, big form, 275,000 guaranteed, second high as big, biggest, they really only paid two priority free agents, St. Thompson and Clealticans, but I think you need tight in more.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just think you need it.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: So you look at PFF grade 65.2 run blocking 50.1 receiving, not the best, but 69.6 pass blocking that is what it is that is what he could be if all works out well.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at the depth chart, George Kittle recovering, obviously, Jake Tongis, Luke Farrell, Khalil Dinkins, then you got Braden Willis, Hayden, Roochie, that's your six light room, light room still because Kittle's not practicing.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, Khalil Dinkins is going to get the reps.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what he's able to do with those.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Howdy, sighted seed team can sit to field.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was a bummery missed OTAs.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was, man, and that's kind of just the way it goes.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, many camp got canceled and blah, blah, blah, and all those things.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, it's a lot.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there we go, a fan and would have been Collins not green.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, did I miss that one.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's still like, you know, I'll be there.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the big Collins guy, but
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you would have got to get them early because, yeah, where did fan and go?
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Harold fan and went pick 67.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you are correct.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Alfred Collins went pick 43.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: You would have had a trade back or a trade up in the third.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin went eight picks after fan and so.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: do with that what you will.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I can't bro.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: Kid old, very similar trajectory to Cleal Deacon's.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: It really, really did.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, right there.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: Don't mention Feral Warner in the same sentence.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: I take one over Feral all day.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody was, yeah, it's, it's what it is.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin was overrated in recruiting.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: Campbell might have a top 10 class in his first year.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like coaching wise, like, I don't know.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I know we got some pit state fans in the chat.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I will, I understand my ignorance in this matter.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: I do not track pit state football.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: But man, he brought in a lot of athletic.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: players, they've been relevant, lost a lot of close games, Matt Campbell's a better coach.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think Matt Campbell's a better pro ready coach.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin's whole thing was get the elite athletes.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: He did that.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Just, I don't know.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see Pid State as a top
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: 10 program here and in year out.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: And they're right on the cusp of that.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe by Matt Campbell can get there.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: The big 10 is very top heavy and they are part of that.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, we'll see what that is.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: But I love these conversations man.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: These are the conversations I love when you're having like a beer with some friends and you just get off on a tangent and like being my coaching buddies are like James Franklin.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Top 20 coach like or top 10 coach top 20 recruiter top like you know getting through that so I love it and again I plead by ignorance because I don't follow it.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is an outsider looking in So deal with that what you will so that's cool little tickets.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: I freaking love the dude.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: I really really do
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you guys are going to any 49ers road games this year, you got to come party with us.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip is going into its sixth year with over 40 events at road games.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you are traveling to see the 49ers play this year, you got to come party with us.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that,
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: We give games, trivia, giveaways.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: We partnered with TickPick this year.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is search 49ers rush on any of the TickPick sites, apps, you name it, and on top of all of that.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: Best dressed, giveaways, autographed jerseys, kids are always included and get in for free with a ticketed adult.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times for select cities, we will have 49ers legends come out and you get to meet and greet them and get autographed, viral Bowman.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Fred Warner, are all players that we have worked with in the past and trust me.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself, we got you covered 49ers rushroatrip.com.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: All right, uh, look at this from Geronimo staying true over there.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, on Twitch.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're the man.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: What have loved to see Oscar delpe at a 49ers jersey played behind Bowers would have been just fine playing behind kiddo.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: I Oscar delpe was one of my rush crush.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: I had a high second on him.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and man, that to flew off the board.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of knew that he would.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oops.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see here.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: Where did he get drafted?
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Uh,
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was like I had a second round great on him and the 40 hours took Romelo height three picks ahead of them.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I would prefer Romelo height.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we're going to do a bit.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think on Tuesday, hopefully we get the John and Wayne show this week.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't talked to Wayne yet this week.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: I know we missed that last two weeks as my football times.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean,
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: instead of Oscar Delt for sure, but yeah, like that top of the third round was Sam Roush went.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: You had Ramello, Hight, Go Antonio Williams, Oscar Delt, Malachi fields like AJ Hossie, like
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was just Chris brazzled Ted Hearst that third round and it's funny because Kyle Shannon even said this we he said we felt the strength of this draft was in the end of the second to third round and we had no picks there so we had to move around and they did that that they achieved that.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: For Ramello, hi, which was, you know, Ed Katelyn Black, which is crazy to me, still will always be crazy to me, but I hope Katelyn Black goes out and turns out.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: Again, that's Neil.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: I watched Matrix the other day.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the whole time I'm like, Dude Katelyn Black is Neil.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's the chosen one.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's finally going to buck the trend.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's there to change everything.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on the, I'm on the Katelyn Black train.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: I am, but yeah, I would have liked Oscar Dell.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get to pick number 61 of the 49ers roster countdown fan favorite, Sebastian Valtez, the Hulk.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: Ugh, defensive tackle extraordinaire.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: My faith, it like highlights, work ethic.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: just needs consistency.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: You saw it all throughout training camp and every trainer can't report 55 55 55 55 the Sebastian Valdes who's 55.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm there and people are like who's 55 like just just making mints meet out of you know.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: the starting center like whatever we'll do that later like when Sebastian Valdez defensive tackle Hulk wins he wins quick and he wins decisively it's like oh damn it now the problem is
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: double teams ate as lunch consistently.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: And when we got to the preseason, the flashes were early, the second game, not as much third game even less than that.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: They love Subashra.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers love this dude, 49ers fans love Subashra Valdez.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Six, three, three,
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now I 61 like each up 24 spots and it didn't even play in the game for the $40 like it And I think that's a testament to one, you know, again, shout out to Zach Bennett Josh you guys are killers, but like 49ers fans the content that's put out there Myself excluded like you are well informed
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: and you know we travel to all these stadiums and I love partying with other fans and meeting bucks fans whenever I'm in Tampa or Dolphins fans whenever I'm in Miami or wherever unless I'm in LA there's no such thing as ranch fans there like but the meeting these opposing fanbase is just having conversations like ah do tell me like what podcast you listen to and they're like podcast ah listen this one they're like all generic NFL ones.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: Niners fans you have 60 plus podcasts and the fact that
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: you know right now there's I don't know the 300 some out of you guys watching this live blows my mind or in June.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so thankful that you guys chose to be here with us right now.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's a big deal and I don't take it lightly.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope that that comes across but like the fact that there are players on this roster like Sebastian Valdez that I get asked and emailed and DMed about and I'm like two to two it's never even played in the NFL.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: But everybody loves them.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you know what I mean?
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's like hell yeah.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like y'all get it.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is what the NFL is.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I get the countdown isn't for everybody.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: The roster countdown we do every year.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: How do you get hyped about the 61st player?
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Only 53 guys make this team.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: Dude Sebastian Valdes is how you get hyped.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: This dude is a wrecking ball that is just
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: When coaches and fans and players all love the guy, it's like they've been diagrams somewhere that's just like in the middle of Sebastian Valdez.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's like hell to the yeah, the Hulk.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: like he's just awesome his career.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was a Montana state guy was there for three seasons then transferred to Washington and just dominated from everywhere.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's California kid down in San Diego with the Montevista high school.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's the Montevista up here in Danville as well.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's the San Diego one.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Two-time all conference player eight sacks as a senior was a high school standout goes to Montana
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of weird, but he was the defensive lineman of the year for the conference there transfers to Washington and labeled the quarterback killer and elite run stuff.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: He was the defensive newcomer of the year for that conference.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: Priority free agent for the 40 hours.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: They pay pretty handsomely to get it.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: You look at the 49ers through three years.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: their pay in defensive tackles, Evan Anderson, Sebastian Valdez, James Thompson, Jr. Price in East and like the one area that the 49ers will consistently pay priority free agents is defensive tackle.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: They feel like they can find value there and I love that and the fact that you have guys like Evan Anderson and Sebastian Valdez on the back end of this defensive tackle roster, I think it's huge and
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: excuse me, I apologize.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Sebastian Valdez spent all of last year on the Foreigner's practice squad.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, he didn't play, but his intense work ethic, he won practice squad player the week several times several times.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, the 49ers
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: him as the maximum number of times and healthy scratched him and people were like it was funny because they announced a day before usually 24 hours before kickoff.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to elevate somebody, smash veldes been elevated.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so I get all these you know questions even all due to certain way like you think he's going to get his first sack and like how much is he going to get playing time?
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like man, I don't know,
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: How is this dude doing my best dumb and dumber in personation?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: How is this dude going to get plenty of time?
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he didn't, they helped me scratch them every time.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: And people were like, why would they do that?
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he got a paid increase every time.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: This was throwing him a bone financially and saying, Look, dude, we want you here.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to elevate you, healthy scratch you.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: You enjoy
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: the extra pay increase this week, but just know we want you here to get them some extra money.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: And the defensive tackle room is deep.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that maybe that I said this last episode.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: Quarterbacks, wide receivers, defensive tackles, those are the 3T positions in my opinion.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: Linebacker, maybe cornerback, maybe, but good if tackled like this roster.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: I love this roster this year.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how he's going to find this way up.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to make significant strides, but the competition level is there.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: What we'll see what it is.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: Could he get better and consistent against double teams in the run game?
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: That is the key.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: One on one, no issues.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: His upper body strength.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why they call him the hook.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: Splitting the double teams with technique, not his forte yet.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: One on one pass for a wins.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: One on one run game wins.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Double team, which 40 dieders in their scheme, could change a little bit, still gonna be a lot of double teams.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be hard for him to get there.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: Again, zero snaps, but he made $316,000 last year, you know, just getting that extra money would have been, you know, right at about $256, but, you know, get out of the extra $50,000 that was huge, you look at the defensive tackle debt chart.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: a grace and halt and Sebastian Valdes, those guys, Evan Anderson, James Thompson, Jr. price and it like that's eight young defense of tackles.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: This room is young and stacked.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: People have to ascend.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot get the same play from Alfred Collins, CJ West.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: Sebastian Valdes, Evan Anderson, the four, you know, returners.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: They got to step up and like there's fluidity
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Alfred Collins had a lot of positives.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: Had some negatives.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm an Alfred Collins dude.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's rush crush player.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: I predicted him be a picked.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: I had a second round grade on him.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: High, second round grade.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: Love the pick.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: He loses early.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Collins loses early consistently wins late.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do that consistently in NFL.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: You can't do it.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to fix that.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: Special Valdez is opposite.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: He wins early.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't win early, you don't win at all, but yeah, Sebastian Veldez, the Hulk comes in number 61.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome guy.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 55?
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man, I love it.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to a couple more comments.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: Let's back it up.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: I missed a couple on the Titan chat.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Kimbero, I'd be happy you get conscious and kiddo on the field at the same time.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Kaoshen and I never did it.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would like to see that change.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: How's any end changing?
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: Not too much.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that changes.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Peanut Jeff, thank you, man.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: John, thanks for grinding, brother.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love getting to know these guys and their stories.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it's about, man.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it's about.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: Kim Pro, it's stacked interior defensive line room.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: This year, gonna be tough to make it.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: You keep five to six.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: And if that cut off there, I don't see Sebastian Valdez making the 53, but if there's an entry or two, or he ascends, then all right, there we go.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: Love you Captain, you're the best man.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate your brother.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate your man.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: uh... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: You look at guys like Jordan Mason and manual mostly Aziz al-Shite like C'mon dude These guys get paid top of the top map breed a you could just go on and on and on these guys Getting paid Jake Tontis like like the story just gross Like these guys that are back in players that the 49ers just trust Ross Dwelly just trust Mullins Come on man
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: The dude's made millions of dollars just by being on the four years practice squad the Shanahan stays with the Shanahan loyalty program you get in and you're prove yourself a title he will reward you period practice squad matters.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it is.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: Kim bro.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: We saw that last year with the receivers, defensive ends and linebackers Garrett Wallow.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Good gosh.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: you can go on and on and on just about all the players that get promoted.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Taylor Jr. All right, number 60.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say we're taking it down a notch.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit harder to get the optimism with number 60.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is it Garendo?
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Never been a Garendo guy myself.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: Freak athlete six foot to 20 fastest running back coming out of the draft ran a fourth three.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at his rankings, you know, drafted 20 24.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was number 48 on our countdown.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: Last year was number 31.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: He was in line for the number two roll.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: They traded Jordan Mason.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was stupid at the time.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's stupid still.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: He was 31 last year drops 29 spots.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: And now he's got a torn peck towards peck a month ago.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: Shadowhand was like, yeah, we don't think it's easy.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: And ending, hoping to get him back at training camp.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: And like, and this is my own Chapman spin on it.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just count it.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, if, like, whatever, I think the torn peck helps him.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think the torn peck allows him to stick around on this team.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: more than if he was healthy because he got passed by Jordan James last year as soon as Jordan James got healthy.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: You draft Caitlin black in the third round, third round running backs, make roster's period.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: Unless I mean, shoot, even Williams, who never got an NFL carry for the 49ers was a third fourth round running back.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: He made like, Caleb and Plac's making this rally.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's Neo.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, I was a gringo.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: My not made the roster if he was healthy.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: man, give him a year.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: You just keep him on the pup all year.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't count as a 53 man roster spot.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he gets healthy in November, December.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you have an injury or two, you can activate him.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: You just put him on the shelf.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the injury, not celebrating it.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel awful for a grendo who has just been plagued by injuries six out of seven last seasons.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: Isaac
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: just can't stay healthy and I mean, a torn peck working out like it happens.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's awful, but like I wish you wasn't injured, but the injury may keep them with the Niners in extra year.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: May.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because you just keep him on the pub and he doesn't count.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't count.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kimber right here.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: I bet they IR, Correndo, Idris, settlement.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think you'll go on the pub because he got injured before training camp.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: So like he, it's a little bit different rules.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: There's between IR and pub.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: you get the extra roster spot and whatever else.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you put them on IR now, then he's done for the year.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: You could put on IR once he's on the active roster.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a IR reserve.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: For this active, we'll get into that once training camp starts.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: But just a financial difference is the only difference.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Corinda, where's number 31, 6 foot, 2221, he's 25 years old.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: Was that what's got some for several years transferred to Louisville never started you drafted a running back that never started Kaling plaque one a starter drafted him third round.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's a weird one Neo come on man Chapman Kaling by snail change it everything born and raised the Clayton in the Anna.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: you look at Isaac Grindell was a stud was Mr. Football in Indiana for the entire state.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: stud high school, you know, track guy, white receiver three time state champ.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he is speed on speed on speed, basketball player, four time all conference selection, all those things goes to college never starts.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a pass sketching option.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: Pass Pro was a specialty, but just could not find his way into the starting lineup.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just couldn't beat out college players.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you see why, injuries, injuries, injuries, fumbles, fumbles, fumbles, fumbles.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: How do you, you're running back?
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: How do you overcome those two things?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: He has not done that.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't matter how big and how fast you are.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I would argue the reason why Shannahand lost favor with them.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: He has the worst vision I've ever seen.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote this in my Traffrite up back for before the Niners Strafton.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: Dude runs into the back of his blockers consistently.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: You put him out there, it's kick off return guy.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: And he runs into the back of his own players again.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: Fumbles running into the back of his own guy.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the thing for me, just like, and seeing no progress through three seasons of vision.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it is big place, the positive here is you can never take away Isaac Rando's game clenching run against Seattle and Seattle.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: I was there for that.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: That was awesome, man.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: Niners fans were loud as hell in Lumen.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was such a fun game.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: And Isaac Rando, he clenched it.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: You can there like that is awesome.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: That was an awesome moment.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I am thankful that Isaac Correndo contributed that it was a gap run scheme as the inside zone run like and all of his big plays were designed gap You can't give him a zone with an option because he just doesn't have vision.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: You have to say you run here.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's paint by numbers.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: He just can't see it
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: And like the 40 hours draft them in the fourth round one twenty nine over all which makes it worse They traded up.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: They trade two fifth round picks.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you remember that draft of run and running packs went Bucky Irving went Ray Davis went.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: We'll ship.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: We went all like in like five picks.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: Niners panic.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: They trade two fifth round picks Jump up and take Grendo those two fifth round picks
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: Contrast diggers elite special teamer and defensive player and Isaiah Davis who's running back that's three years younger in way better like he gave up two picks of both those picks way better than Isaac Garendo.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even close Tyrone Tracy went around later.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, it was a bad pick.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: it was a bad pick.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, he's got three starts for the NFL, you know, he started more NFL games than he has college games.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: I played 30 games, 84 rush yards or 84 rush attempts, 420 rush yards, 5.0 yards per carry.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's boomer bus.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember writing my draft profile two yards, one yard, zero yard, two yards, 40 yards.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: like consistency is not his thing, a lot of negative plays, but his big plays or splash plays.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Niners hope they could train that, didn't do it.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't do it.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: And got passed by Jordan James.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: Coaching staff lost trust in him.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: He got benched on special teams.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, last year played 173 snaps, 173 of them were on special teams.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he was got awful.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like dude, you're six foot,
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: terrible blocker at a pump blocked because of him.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it attributed to him.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: He went the wrong way.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what would you say you do here.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard for me to find a positive
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: has never finished the training camp in three seasons, not going to do it this one rookie training camp.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: He practiced less than Ricky Pierce saw.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just rough man.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: Um, just rough.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: So four year, $4.7 million, you know, deal.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's made $2.4 million in his career.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: Congratulations there.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: Where does he fit on the depth chart?
- 53:31[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey, Jordan James, Kailin, Black, however you want to go with that.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: I put Patrick Taylor Jr. ahead of them since here McCormick, they just released and brought back.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: Probably wouldn't put him ahead of them, but now the Isaac Grindos is not going to be able to practice.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: But to Marge Jefferson, Jordan Mems, they were signed and cut.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what to do with Grindos.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really don't.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: I struggle, mightily with Isaac Grindo and the upside.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I go back to this idea that the torn pick will help him stay with the 49ers for free for an extra year.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he learns maybe if there is an injury in November, December, January, then you can activate him off the pup and yeah, Cow Chippedo, no reason to release him.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't cost anything.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're already paying him.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: He has never started anywhere, not even pop Warner.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's true.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people love Garendo.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I want to give Kruger his his flowers because man Kruger nailed this draft class with the 49ers this year.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was a giant Garendo guide.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: We mean,
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: you know, crew disagree on a lot of prospects, but he puts the work in and he watches him.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: He was a huge grendo guy.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: I was a huge Alfred Collins guy.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was huge Miguel Williams guy.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's a huge Caleb Black guy.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is what happens in rooms of coaching staffs as well.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope that grendo has a great career takes this year
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: Please stop training up for offense of players.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's Tommy.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: I you worked until he didn't.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_01]: I you trained up work till it didn't.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_01]: Tray Lance didn't.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he didn't.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Pettis didn't.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a lot that didn't.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: Two fifth round spot.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, picks that was our sweet spot.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Tray sermon didn't.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen heard didn't.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen heard a little bit different.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_01]: I will never be convinced that Jalen heard would not have worked.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_01]: like we had that one cowboys pre-season game where that too was just a monster, but the injuries, right, the lower back and whatever else, but like I remember I had Jalen heard ranked ahead of Debo in my wide receiver rankings that year.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: I had Debo appropriately ranked at a second round grade on them, but I was I was head over hills in Levin, Jalen heard the injury just was too much.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, there's no doubt about that.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_01]: Get brought through up about three of those names.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, what's up, sin.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_01]: So glad you're here.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_01]: So glad you're here.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then last one of our roster count down today.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to little long.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully, everybody's all right with that.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get too mad at me.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: weird as hell.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's a minister like dude was a minister while in college has not one but two college degrees in communication and coaching.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: Plated a tire year with a torn ACL and takes this team to the college football play us.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_01]: With the torn to the ACL, just kept playing, brace it up.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, just tape it up, man.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, like, dude, it's freaking awesome.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's such a cool dude.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number four to 14?
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was four now he's 14.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_01]: Six four to 20.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: Little, not a little bit different.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's different than the other 49ers quarterbacks.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big body old school,
- 57:23[SPEAKER_01]: Big old quarterback man, staying in the pocket delivered.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's got some weird mobility, got 14 rushing touchdowns.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got some sneaky mobility, but two torn ACLs had a thumb surgery and missed time, had a shoulder surgery, missed time, like injuries are there.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: Durability, major concern, major concern, but the 49ers had a plan.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: They drafted him in the seventh round, 227 last year.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: With the idea of man, we're just going to sit you.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: I love the chess that was played with the roster quarterback roster last year.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: You signed Matt Jones to a two year deal, not a one year deal like you had been doing.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then you use the seventh round, just red shirt pick on Curtis work and you say we're going to red shirt him.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: He want to count against the rosers contract, tolls, right?
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: So you draft a rookie in the seventh round and you get them for four years.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't play.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: He never came off the NFI not football injury because he got injured before he was drafted.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was a football injury, but that's all another debate.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting in that training camp.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: And you just say, hey, guess what?
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because he stayed on the NFL last year, that contract tolls.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_01]: So he still has four years controlled.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be a restricted free agent after three seasons.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: Very similar to Jordan May, Central, Jennings, Zezao, shot, like all these different guys.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_01]: So he still have him for four more years.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Just learn.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: Just be in the quarterback room, be in our meetings.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: Watch our film, learn, learn, learn.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: Come out, compete next year.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_01]: And now you're competing for the Matt Jones replacement job with Matt Jones leaves.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Jones is leaving and I don't care what somebody else says, but Matt Jones is leaving.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you could agree to pay property what you're paying him and that Jones 30 million a year, which is what he's going to get in the open market as long as he doesn't like kill his value, but shoot Matt Jones value just ascending.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: look at what freaking, what's his name, Kirk Cousins made this year with the first round overall pick of the Raiders like there will always be a climate for quarterbacks that could step in and help your team.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you do draft a rookie quarterback, what's next year in the draft 2027, a lot of rookie quarterbacks.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_01]: going to be heavy quarterback draft.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's good for the Niners.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_01]: Curtis work is just a red shirt guy coming and compete when the number three job this year, step in for the number two job next year.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the 49ers want.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: Can Curtis work do that.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's 25 years old.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: Played at Ohio, the Bobcats, and then transferred to Indiana.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was Fernando Mendoza before Fernando Mendoza.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: and led Indiana on a tornado seal in all with Kurt Signetti to the calls full of bless last year.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then they went this year.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's not as good as Fernando Mendoza in that system.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's boarded race and kitschner on Terry of the Maple Missile.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: That was such an awesome name.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: Went to Holy Trinity High School in Oakville, Ontario, small timer crew.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: goes to Ohio University, then transfers in one so many college.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: He was the vice president of athletes in action, a ministry organization in Ohio.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_01]: Three time academic all Mac graduated with two degrees in communication and a master's in coaching.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, like yeah, you want cerebral quarterbacks to understand what's got like dude, check, check, check.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_01]: check it might be the holiest quarterback room in the NFL with good old Brock party and the maple missile I'm sure they're having Bible study whatever else that's awesome like hats off to them.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_01]: His brother Nathan, Nathan Rork, you may have heard the name.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_01]: He was at Indiana before Curtis.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: So he followed his brother to Indiana year removed.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: Brother was on five NFL teams practice quite again.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's important that you have people that have gone before you.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_01]: And you can answer and demand, what was it like this to was in five NFL quarterback rooms?
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: What do I do?
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: What do I don't do?
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_01]: Give me some best practices.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_01]: You think that matters.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_01]: It just matters.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and the fact that Kurdish work was drafted in the seventh round despite having a torn ACL at that time.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: You knew that.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I would rather draft Kurdish work 100 times out of 100 drafts than to ever spend that pick on a punter or a long snapper or a kicker because you might get a franchise quarterback.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Kurdish work is going to be a franchise quarterback, but if it's a 1% chance.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_01]: that's awesome.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he's recovered.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I didn't do a draft profile.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_01]: I did a small draft profile.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't go super in depth because he was just such a fun player.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_01]: Dan Brugler had a six round grade on him, the beast, the athletic.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_01]: He had these were some of his notes that matched my notes.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: We always put our draft report out before the athletic, because I don't
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: Big body easy to throw in the football throws with the elite confidence and no fear and it's funny Brett farf was his favorite player growing up He's he doesn't have that arm but like you see the mentality it's a tight window I can do it like there is that mindset.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I can do it and then the negative to watch a Kurdish work play It doesn't get through progressions.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: He has a pre-snap read.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to my first read
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: gets him into trouble, but he makes throws that you're like, man, you probably shouldn't have thrown that.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_01]: And like it works.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's that type of guy.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's that type of mindset.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_01]: As tough as his goods, good deep ball, good touch, really, really good deep ball.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: He will stay in the pocket.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: CJ
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_01]: He'll stay in there and take the, that's a big reason why he's hurt so much, right?
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: But like tough mindset level 100 out of 100.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's as tough as a quarterback as you will get durable, not so much tough mindset.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, got to learn to work through progressions.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's my biggest issue.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: Seven fumbles in 2024 alone.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: Here is Dane Brugler's synopsis.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_01]: Quote.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, Rourke is a good-sized pocket passer.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll push the ball downfield when everything stays on schedule.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_01]: But his average mobility will be tough to mask against NFL defenses in quote.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a mover, but
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's tough.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: And he's the type of guy that will take a really good angle against line backers and lunge forward for a first down touchdown, you know, 14 rushing touchdowns in this career.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like he can he can get it done, but he's not like jukeying around running people.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's third and three.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_01]: He'll take two hits from a linebacker in a defensive tackle and fall forward.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big dude.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, James country strong.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, well said 79 touchdowns, 21 interceptions.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: You love that ratio.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: 67% completion passers.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_01]: Plain entire year on a torn ACL.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_01]: Got 134,000 guaranteed, made $368,368,000 dollars last year despite not playing and all those different facets.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_01]: So that's number 59 Curtis work, the maple missile.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: who's just freaking awesome.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's just awesome.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's just awesome.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: He really, really is.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, Kim Brody, you count last year because he was never activated.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so the contract tools, you still have four years of control.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_01]: Technically, it counts, but then you get the fifth year will be a restricted free agent where you control the rights to the player.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_01]: You got a Tinder that, right?
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't Tinder, Khalil,
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_01]: Davis, Clea Davis, Clea Davis, different one.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: Clea Davis, like you had control of them this year, but the lack of consistency for him, you didn't even tell them so you just released them.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's where that is.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_01]: Late to the party and late, you guys know where he's.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just glad you're here.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't matter when you show up.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: I prefer you show up on time.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you turn notifications on, we appreciate it.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_01]: But if you're here, man, in June, June 14th, you are the best of the best.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's just all there is to it.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's all there is to it.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: uh... uh... chat school crazy that that's chat school crazy yeah it's what it is uh... right here tarry john i know it's early what position group will the niner's look at picking up in the twenty twenty seven draft that's a great question you know you have trent William saying he's got to play for two more years
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I know this, this tolls as well every year, got draft tackle, got a draft training replacement, got a draft training replacement for the first time ever Trent said, I'm like, last year's going to be a last year.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: And then you look at Colton McKibitz, he's 33 next year.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Rick, it crews might be a guy.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: How does he develop this year?
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_01]: Does he give you confidence?
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: Offensive tackle has to be at the forefront.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: even if Trent does come back and play next year, do cold to me, give it's getting long in the two, too.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: I hopefully, you know, they both come back next year and play as well, but like tackles, it's up there, center.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_01]: can Carver Willis transition to center.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't extend Jake Brendel.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now I don't think you spend a first round pick on center.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe there's somebody that's coming out that's elite, don't know yet.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_01]: But look at the premium positions defensive end, offensive tackle, not wide receiver anymore.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_01]: Kylee, stop it on wide receiver.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_01]: We are good there now.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully you will be next year.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what happens, but we'll recap here, saw your hope in,
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_01]: you know, your top drapic and to Sean Stribley and take steps forward and you've got under contract multiple years.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kirk and my given.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_01]: So like that's there too.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we'll have to wait and see what that looks like.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_01]: Guard's going to be a question.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_01]: What happens at
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_01]: the usual suspects, defensive tackle, who knows.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe nobody in the defensive tackle room steps up with OSA or Digi Zua.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Afrikaans doesn't take those steps for.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe those guys don't step up.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: Edge is going to be at the top of the list always.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: Offensive tackle, going to be up there always.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: It will have a lot of time once we get there and how things develop.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because the 49ers there approach right now is, we've got a roster.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe if you get on a roll in this team's looking like all right, great things could happen at the trade deadline.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_01]: You address one of those needs.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_01]: Very possible.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_01]: Very possible.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the cap space for it this year.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_01]: Next year's little horrible and the following years, even worse than that.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: You've got some built-in restructures that you can do and all that.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_01]: Can people step up, can Romolo hype be a guy?
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_01]: Can, can, you know, Grace and Houghton be a guy.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta wait and see what that's gonna look like, but offensive tackle and edge, that's probably gonna be top of the list right now with what's going on.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see what that is.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is a bit fun.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate it.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's good talking football.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's good being with you all.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_01]: It had thankful for the time you spent with us.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully you guys enjoy this.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_01]: We'll keep counting them down.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully Tuesday we get a John and Wayne episode.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'll text Wayne and see if we can get that set up.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: Apologies again on missing those last couple weeks.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_01]: But what we'll see what it is.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are the absolute best.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a blast being with you until next time.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: Stay strong, faithful.
