- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the three O take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes it.
- 0:11All starts. Right now.
- 0:15Welcome back to the three O take presented by Shook Cedary this
- 0:18episode 6 O3. I'll be your host Kyle Korne.
- 0:20I'm you and my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:23Nate. KCJB Been a minute, been a
- 0:29minute, how are we? Been a minute, it's going to be
- 0:33back. Do you have a good Easter?
- 0:36Yeah, yeah, good Easter. We we, we tried to go like the,
- 0:45the all the grandparents or all the grandkids basically tried to
- 0:49this is my in lost side. We went over to Paige's
- 0:53grandma's and we tried to like take over the food.
- 0:57She's not a good cook. She's it's real bad.
- 1:01She'll like get like a Stouffer's lasagna and like this
- 1:05somehow messes that up. So we were like, why don't we
- 1:07like we got this and we messed it up too.
- 1:11We messed it up too. We went to we went like on the
- 1:15lighter side and we went to Costco and we got those like
- 1:19little like wraps that are like cut up and like small little
- 1:23pieces. Well, the problem was is that
- 1:26like we were super busy Saturday.
- 1:29Obviously you're not going to get them there Sunday.
- 1:32So we got them Friday night and those suckers did not hold up.
- 1:36Let me tell you the. Soggy.
- 1:38Some soggy torts and those things, dude.
- 1:42Soggy torts. So.
- 1:44So we messed that part up. So yeah.
- 1:49But outside I had no Easter was great.
- 1:52Was that the main? That was the main the main dish.
- 1:55It was like a lot of finger stuff.
- 1:57It was like a lot of finger food stuff.
- 1:59So I mean, there was the other, the other grandkids delivered.
- 2:03We did not. We get shrimp, like the shrimp
- 2:07little thing from Costco. That thing hit.
- 2:10Shrimp always hits. So.
- 2:13But outside of that, no, we kind of dropped the ball and
- 2:15everything else. The outside of that.
- 2:18Easter is great. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:25JB. Yeah, that was great.
- 2:28I I'm, I'm just, we don't have to get into it, right?
- 2:32But I mean, you guys know some of the back story, but we're
- 2:36just, you know, I'm able to just eat normal things mostly.
- 2:39And that feels good to just go into a holiday and not worried
- 2:42about whether or not I can eat. What did you eat?
- 2:46We had ham, we had Mac and cheese.
- 2:49Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was very traditional.
- 2:51Yep. Good for you.
- 2:52So went that route. Yeah, the same, the same foods.
- 2:57They were eaten on Easter Sunday.
- 3:03What? It was a Micra.
- 3:07Back on the original Easter Sunday.
- 3:10So, you know the traditional the traditional Easter lunch of ham,
- 3:13Mac and cheese. I did not follow what you were
- 3:16saying. I was waiting for the punchline.
- 3:18No, I yeah, for sure. Just yeah.
- 3:21It's not like we're ripping pita bread and right dipping it in
- 3:25oils and stuff. JB, lead the charge here.
- 3:33Let's start with your guy, Connor Griffin.
- 3:37My God. Your guy 9 year extension, 140
- 3:45million bones. Yeah, highest paid Pittsburgh
- 3:52Pirate ever. Highest paid teenager ever.
- 3:56Highest paid prospect ever. Who would have thought the
- 3:59Pirates would be breaking records with salaries?
- 4:03Tell me, tell me things aren't looking, they're looking up.
- 4:07All things pirates looking up, man.
- 4:09How about it? Vibes are vibes are good right
- 4:13now. Vibes are good right now and
- 4:16this team is not. They're not really playing well
- 4:20yet, and I think that's probably the best part about it.
- 4:23There's still a lot of things that need cleaned up and they're
- 4:26still drop the series against the Padres, But before that, you
- 4:32know, running off 5 and and just you're staying in all of them
- 4:38doing things differently. They've won games in a lot of
- 4:40different ways. I mean, they're don't look now,
- 4:45they're only a game out of the Central.
- 4:49Nobody's talking about it and I don't know why.
- 4:52You can get into the debut though 'cause it's been a little
- 4:54while. You called it for Pat yourself
- 4:56in the back. You called the the call up right
- 4:58before the home debut. Jamie was there, by the way.
- 5:01Hold. On are we just going to gloss
- 5:03over the fact that I called the the extension situation?
- 5:09I feel like JB called everything.
- 5:11I think Kyle was on the same page though, I think.
- 5:14I think we were both there. We knew kind of the the ideal.
- 5:18World just ride coattails. This guy had everything.
- 5:21I had a. Doubt.
- 5:22I mean, it didn't happen to AT, but I literally said I was like,
- 5:26announce the extension. What that would have been what
- 5:29Thursday? Have him show up Friday in a
- 5:35suit pen ready to go. And I mean it.
- 5:39I was awfully close. So yeah, obviously he was close.
- 5:43Obviously that's not what what happened.
- 5:46We had a Buster only leak that things were close on Thursday.
- 5:51Nothing else materialized from that and nothing really got
- 5:55finalized until this week, specifically this morning,
- 6:00Wednesday morning. But I mean, however you want to
- 6:04look through whatever lens you want to look through from that,
- 6:09they know the rules, right? So he had to debut before he
- 6:12signed or else they lose the the prospect promotion incentive
- 6:18draft pick. So whether they had an, a verbal
- 6:23agreement going into that, that, you know, say, say what you will
- 6:27seemed like there's a a chance they did.
- 6:31There's a chance there were some things to get figured out.
- 6:33There's escalators up to 150 million.
- 6:36There's a there's a signing bonus of 12 1/2 that gets
- 6:41dispersed a certain way and are those like?
- 6:44Performance based or just like games played or?
- 6:47I think it's illegal to technically do performance
- 6:50based, but I don't know it could be like if you if it's like a
- 6:56ward base, right? Yeah, but I don't I actually
- 7:00don't know what they are. I I just know that there's an
- 7:02extra $10 million that he can earn within that time, but.
- 7:06That's illegal. You're not allowed to in a
- 7:10contract, you're not allowed to put like, oh, if you get 150
- 7:13hits, you earn more money. It's, it's games played.
- 7:18Yeah, but they have a different collective bargaining agreement.
- 7:24I'm pretty sure. I, I could be wrong about that,
- 7:26but I'm pretty sure that there are no such thing as
- 7:28performance. There's awards.
- 7:31You can you can earn more money with the with awards or games
- 7:35played. Yeah.
- 7:38All right. I'll take it.
- 7:41Either way. I'll say my first impressions
- 7:44and then I'll get out of the way.
- 7:45Watching the debut number one, I think all he got was sliders in
- 7:52that first AB sliders away, sliders away, sliders away, and
- 7:59to rope that double to left center on a slider that was
- 8:04right on the corner. He chased the 1st 2:00 I think
- 8:07kind of worked to like a 22 count but to hit that double to
- 8:11left center vibes come on. This girl is freaking good dude.
- 8:18Guys, I'm trending on today's Twitter news.
- 8:24Oh no. No, this is Pirates related.
- 8:28Literally on on the sidebar where it shows you the trending
- 8:30topics. Yeah, today's news.
- 8:33The top one says, should all pro teams in a city share one color
- 8:37scheme? That's the tweet I put out
- 8:39today. Oh yeah, it is.
- 8:40It actually is on today's. News and you click it and it
- 8:43says. Corwin's post drew over 27,000
- 8:46likes 1 million views, spotlighting Pittsburgh as the
- 8:48only US city where Steelers, Penguins and Pirates all use
- 8:52black and yellow. Yeah, those are the City of
- 8:56Pittsburgh colors as well. Go.
- 8:59So not just are they all the same, but that is that is
- 9:02actually the yeah, that's the like the yeah.
- 9:08Sorry, I just wanted to throw that out there, but that's cool.
- 9:11Whatever, man. You were talking sliders first,
- 9:13that was. Breaking news.
- 9:14You couldn't. You couldn't interrupt you.
- 9:16You couldn't. Interrupt.
- 9:17You just saw it. I didn't want it to disappear
- 9:19and go away. Give.
- 9:21It to a little bit. Was it a second AB that he got
- 9:23the hit the double? It was the first.
- 9:25Yeah, it was the first. It was the first, yeah.
- 9:28And it and it was, it was four straight sliders fouled off,
- 9:33fouled off the the one that could have put him away.
- 9:36And then they dropped a curveball in.
- 9:37That's the one he hit for the double.
- 9:39Yeah. It's just, I don't know, it was
- 9:41it was impressive play coverage barreled it.
- 9:46The more impressive thing for me, though, was was scoring on
- 9:50that single to right field from second base and watching him
- 9:52run. I was like, yeah, oh, Oh my.
- 9:55Just super long strides, super athletic.
- 10:00I think MLB. What is it now?
- 10:03Which one's Brian Kenney Think it's a movie now you got it was
- 10:06saying that he's already like his his run foot speed per
- 10:14second or speed for per foot, whatever.
- 10:16I don't know, but it was. On.
- 10:18Yeah, it was already top ten in baseball, so it's impressive.
- 10:22I I was thinking like any time I've created myself in video
- 10:25games, that's the size that I make myself, that's the build I
- 10:30give myself. I'm obviously not that, but in
- 10:34in video game world I am close. Then I'm a shortstop.
- 10:38So yeah, I mean, it's he's, he's a video game character, dude.
- 10:42He's just, he looks really good. I'm impressed so far.
- 10:46Yeah, Tuesday beat out an infield single on a on a ball
- 10:50that he hit 93 right at Machado. Now it was straight into the
- 10:56ground, so it wasn't 93 for long.
- 11:00It looked like a slow roller, 30.2 feet per second, one of the
- 11:05top Sprint speeds in MLB so far in this very young season.
- 11:10But then right after that, O'Neill Cruz fights off A2
- 11:13strike pitch down the left field line and he scored from first
- 11:17and this ball didn't even get to the corner.
- 11:21It's it's crazy. I mean, he's.
- 11:24It's the strides that it's. A game changer.
- 11:26You can tell like certain, we watch Bobby Witt.
- 11:29You watch some of these guys that have a ton of speed in it,
- 11:31like it kind of they kind of glide in a way.
- 11:37And for him, it's like he he he just takes up a ton of just so
- 11:42just big strides and it does glide, but it doesn't look like
- 11:47he's as fast as everyone else, but he's like gaining so much
- 11:51more ground. It's hard to explain, but I like
- 11:54him. He looks good.
- 11:54Looks good, a short. I I think he did an exceptional
- 11:58job explaining it. Thank you.
- 12:00Appreciate it. Moving on.
- 12:04I will say loudest, loudest I've ever heard of stadium in my life
- 12:10when he hit that double. JP, we got to get you some more
- 12:13baseball games. I'm, I'm telling you, it was,
- 12:16there was. I was not at the 2013 Wild Card
- 12:20game in Pittsburgh, which most people.
- 12:22Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Was that not 2015?
- 12:27There was a wild card game in 1314 and 15.
- 12:31They lost 14 and 15. Cueto was 2013.
- 12:37Wow. And that was well, and that what
- 12:39makes that significant is that was the first one, right?
- 12:41That was when they made it and and that city just starving for
- 12:46relevant baseball and and made it to that point.
- 12:51I've heard there's nothing there's been nothing else as as
- 12:55loud like actually when they measure it.
- 12:56I don't know. But either way, I wasn't at that
- 12:59game, so I can't. Yeah, thank you.
- 13:01I can't say if you know what I mean, the difference between
- 13:05that, but I've never been at a baseball game.
- 13:09Look it up. Yeah, I've never been at a
- 13:11baseball game where it was like where I've said that.
- 13:15That's the loudest I've ever heard and at the same time the
- 13:18quietest I've ever heard because there was no one talking before
- 13:23every pitch. Like I could have snapped my
- 13:26fingers and somebody in the next section over would have heard
- 13:29it. It was radio silence.
- 13:31It was unbelievable. I've never, I've never been at a
- 13:34stadium where I felt like 38,000 people were actually paying
- 13:37attention to the game. Yeah, that's sick.
- 13:41It was a really cool, really cool.
- 13:42Family in the suite, just jumping around all over the
- 13:46place. It was.
- 13:48That's a cool debut, man. Especially just get out of the
- 13:51way. You get your rib out of the way,
- 13:52you get your extra base hit out of the way.
- 13:54Yeah. And their struggle after that,
- 13:56right? Kangaroo Junior doubled in his
- 13:58first at bat when he was 19. He went over his next 17.
- 14:01So it's, that's very normal to have the adrenaline and do
- 14:05something like that. So the, the parallels there was,
- 14:08I thought was pretty cool 'cause Kangaroo Junior is my favorite
- 14:10player. So the hope the, the, the way
- 14:14that they talk about this kid, I mean, the, the, the, the
- 14:18drooling that fan grafts did over this kid before he made his
- 14:21debut is bizarre in a way. But the hope that that comes
- 14:27with that and the fact that this team actually put a, a team on
- 14:31the field that can, can hang somehow, like, not like what
- 14:36we've seen the past few years, I think is what fed into that.
- 14:41It's, it's been really cool. I will say Major League debuts
- 14:45in general will get me, but this one were you crying?
- 14:51You crying? Oh, I mean, I I shed a tear.
- 14:53Listen, I I will shed a tear for any Major League debut or
- 14:55baptism. That's just the way I roll.
- 14:57OK, baseball guy, man, just the way it goes.
- 15:01It could be somebody for the other team.
- 15:03And I'm like, man, this guy worked all this time for this.
- 15:07But for Connor, it's like he didn't.
- 15:10He's. Yeah, he's. 19, he's 19, but it
- 15:13still is. I think it was a little bit less
- 15:16than that in that sense. But no, they all all the debuts,
- 15:20which is why I bring it up all the time.
- 15:22All these young guys coming up and doing well.
- 15:24Is this is Conor Griffin the real deal?
- 15:27And I'm trying, I'm asking you to try to take off your go
- 15:31Pirates hat and and look and answer this as as objectively as
- 15:38you can, because I feel like we've seen this play out before.
- 15:44I I mean, I can't think of a comp off the top ahead, but
- 15:46we've, we've seen top prospects come through the the the hype is
- 15:51real. The debut is, is worth writing
- 15:56home about. Maybe has a moment or two in the
- 16:00first game or or two or three. And then thing, like you said,
- 16:05maybe not O for 17, O for 20 kind of deal, but like it is
- 16:13Connor Griffin going to be a name that we're going to be
- 16:15talking about with as much promise and hype years down the
- 16:21road as we are now? Or is this going to be something
- 16:25that potentially fizzles out? I mean, there's obviously no way
- 16:28of knowing, but it is. Is there something different
- 16:30about Connor Griffin than previous top prospects in the
- 16:34past? Everything that I read says yes,
- 16:38there are certain prospects that are the number one prospect
- 16:41because they are everything that that they write about them.
- 16:46There are other #1 prospects who are #1 prospects because they're
- 16:50currently the top guy in the pool that exists.
- 16:54And the way that they talk about this is he's a #1 prospect
- 16:58regardless of the pool that exists, he's a guy that you're
- 17:02going to count on. And I mean the, the most recent
- 17:04#1 prospect that was as much of A slam dunk as you could say was
- 17:10not that long ago. It was literally just Roman
- 17:12Anthony. And you know what I'm saying?
- 17:13You're looking at this guy like, no, like things always can go
- 17:17bad. Things could go bad for a guy
- 17:19who's good for three years at any time can happen in baseball.
- 17:24But as sure a thing as you can have like he's there and I could
- 17:30start with the tools. They I've heard him regarded as
- 17:33a six tool player, the six tool being character and when that
- 17:37starts to come into play, it it makes you just it makes you kind
- 17:41of believe in the player a little bit more.
- 17:45I I don't know how I don't know how you quantify being 19 years
- 17:48old, married rich and then sign a contract to make you filthy
- 17:53stinking rich like I don't know. I will never amount to what he's
- 17:57done in 19 official vehicle of. Making.
- 18:01What are we doing? Who's that?
- 18:04Who's playing sound bites? Not.
- 18:06Me. Not me.
- 18:10What you doing, Speaker? Yeah.
- 18:12What you doing guy? Cleaned it up.
- 18:15Gay men? Did I just put on quick pitch?
- 18:19No, it just, it makes me wonder. It makes me wonder about a guy.
- 18:24Like I know I said I didn't have any comps, but a guy that came
- 18:27to mind was like a Dylan Cruz where it's like the hype's
- 18:31running him was real. Granted, maybe not to the same
- 18:36level, I can acknowledge that, but are we talking about Dylan
- 18:40Cruz right now? I.
- 18:42Don't think so. And he he got up to I think 3 or
- 18:464 on the on the top 100 list. So and I know different
- 18:51different position, different story but.
- 18:53Just didn't think was Jackson Merrill ever that high as far as
- 18:59prospect ranking going. No, I mean it came up the same
- 19:02time as Paul Skeens. I'm wasn't skeens #1.
- 19:08Yeah #9 is what I'm seeing. Yeah, I mean the comps that are
- 19:14that have come out not from Pirates fans, obviously, like
- 19:17I'm, I'm, I've removed that cap, right?
- 19:19The comps, the the fan graphs right up the Baseball America,
- 19:23the pipeline, all those things. The comps that they're saying
- 19:26he's closely relating to is names like Bobby Witt Junior,
- 19:31Mike Trout, Juan Soto, Ken Griffey Junior.
- 19:34Like this is what they're saying, which as a Pirates fan,
- 19:37like to put the hat back on. That made me nervous because I
- 19:40was like, man, don't like, don't go all the way there.
- 19:43And then what's that? It was never.
- 19:45Wrong, he said. It's never wrong.
- 19:46Well, I know, I know those comps are wrong because nobody is
- 19:49Bobby Witt Junior. He is one of one.
- 19:55Certainly he can. He can be close.
- 19:57I guess I'll allow it. No, but for.
- 20:00Real. The expectations are there.
- 20:02Like look what? Look what Bobby Wood Junior was
- 20:04in his first year. Like those are realistic
- 20:06expectations. Like you're a 250 hitter.
- 20:08Hey, you know what I mean. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 20:13Yeah, do I need to check? No, we don't need you to pull up
- 20:19any numbers. I mean, we can.
- 20:20Pull up numbers. No, no, no.
- 20:22No, no, no. I don't want.
- 20:23I don't. I don't.
- 20:24We don't need to pigeonhole Bobby Witt as a 250 hitter.
- 20:28No, we're not doing that. But literally his first season,
- 20:31150 games, he he had 254 with a 294 on base.
- 20:35He had a one O 2 OPS plus he had 20 homers.
- 20:38Like, if that's the line at the end of the year for Conor
- 20:40Griffin, I'm pretty excited about it.
- 20:43Ken Griffin, junior at 16 home runs his first year, was third
- 20:47in rookie of the year at 16, though.
- 20:49Like, I'm just saying like, these are the expectations for a
- 20:52guy. And Bobby Witt was 22.
- 20:54I don't like the guy but like it.
- 20:56Is it closer to? It's just as far as like build
- 20:59and like? What is his build?
- 21:02How tall is this guy? He's like 64225 isn't he?
- 21:06I think he's 6. Four.
- 21:08I think he's 63. 63225. Yeah, listed 63222.
- 21:14I was thinking more like a rod and I don't like I don't, no one
- 21:17here likes a rod, but like as far as like the build and the
- 21:20athleticism being being at shortstop, like I think we can
- 21:24like like that comp makes more sense.
- 21:28Yeah. There's a lot of those.
- 21:30Speaking of a rod, there's a lot of those videos I watched as a
- 21:32kid where it talked about, well, obviously pre a rod, but those
- 21:38Ripken videos that I like, the VHS tapes that I watched as a
- 21:41kid talked about how he forever changed the position.
- 21:45Yeah, with his size. And then a guy like a rod comes
- 21:48down the pipe where similar, similar build and that and now
- 21:51you just see it more and more. Right.
- 21:53Yeah, he he changed Cal Ripken changed the whole game with
- 21:55that. Yeah.
- 21:58And that's, that's another one I've heard, I've heard this is
- 22:01what it looks like. You know, I, I, I, I don't think
- 22:04Cal could have ever swiped 65 bags, but you know what I mean?
- 22:09That's I think that's a different story.
- 22:12But everything else, you know what of what people are saying,
- 22:16it's he's shown off the defensive skill already.
- 22:19I think the power has yet to really, really show up.
- 22:22I mean, he had a base hit the other day, 113 and so like
- 22:27there's obviously elite exit velocity, bat speed is, is in
- 22:33the mid 70s. It's all there.
- 22:37It just, it's baseball. It's a hard sport.
- 22:43We good on Conor Griffin. Speaking of hard, we good on
- 22:48Conor Griffin. No, I just looked up and
- 22:50realized you've been talking Conor Griffin for 20 minutes.
- 22:54We murdered this thing, dude. Crush it man pretty much covered
- 23:01every angle that we could. I'll run, I'll run another 20
- 23:05He. Salivate over there.
- 23:06He's like, just keep it going. Speaking of keeping it going.
- 23:13Speaking of keeping it going, I LED by the way, I don't think I
- 23:17told you guys I should have texted you guys, but I had to.
- 23:20I was tasked with leading our our small group the other last
- 23:24week. You had the Segways just dialed?
- 23:27Boy did I they and they had no idea what was coming, but they
- 23:32picked up on it about two or three in and they go.
- 23:35They were like, man, you love transitioning this stuff and I
- 23:38was like, you don't even know the half of it.
- 23:43But anyway. Speaking of Paul, let's.
- 23:51Speaking of Simon, let's head on over to.
- 23:54Speaking of Jesus is risen. No, let's talk.
- 24:00Let's switch gears here. Let's talk.
- 24:01Let's talk some beefs. Let's start with the let's start
- 24:05with the the, the Braves Angel's brawl.
- 24:09We'll start there. I liked it, I was a fan.
- 24:16I wish some of these punches would land.
- 24:20I need I need AI need a Rugi odor Joey bats type landing of a
- 24:27of a fist. No, because then it gets watered
- 24:29down. No, no, it's that was iconic 15
- 24:35years ago. Yeah, it's been, it's like long.
- 24:37It's iconic. We're due.
- 24:41Jose Ramirez, Jose Ramirez, Tim Anderson.
- 24:45Great. Yeah, yeah, that's a good one
- 24:47too. I just need I need one to land
- 24:49the flailing and the running backwards and to.
- 24:52Be fair, Lopez to I don't know if you saw, he saw the baseball.
- 24:55Yes. Why he he?
- 24:57Clocked him in the side of the face with it too.
- 24:59He did land one in the side with.
- 25:01The gosh. I'm rigging my pitching hand
- 25:04dude. I saw, I saw one somebody share
- 25:06that they just said hit by pitch.
- 25:11It reminded me of like, did you see that movie Central
- 25:12Intelligence where the Rock like grabs a banana and he's like,
- 25:15anything in your hand is better than just a fist?
- 25:19That it was a great brawl. Great brawl.
- 25:22Walt wise. Shout out Walt Wise.
- 25:24Yeah, my goodness. I mean, just talk about.
- 25:28Putting your head down and just getting a tackle for the squad,
- 25:31you know what I mean? Like, that's a big deal.
- 25:34Was that real? There's a big boy.
- 25:36Was that martial arts background?
- 25:38Was that legit? I think so.
- 25:41Dude. He's he's thick.
- 25:43With two CS Yeah, the Falcons. I know I sent sent the group the
- 25:48screenshot today. But the Falcons were like, they
- 25:51put out a post with the screenshot of him just taking
- 25:55out it was Lopez, right or no? Who was it?
- 26:00Who was he? Taking out Solaire.
- 26:01Solaire, Solaire. Yeah.
- 26:05And they put out a put out a post and they're like grab some
- 26:08pads. Yeah, that hit was clean.
- 26:12I mean it was might have a shot. Yeah, I, I, I liked the clip of
- 26:19like kind of watching the build up too, because a lot of it was
- 26:23a lot of the clips that I saw were just immediately Solaire
- 26:26like taking off. So seeing like the build up of,
- 26:30of the chirping back and forth. And I think it had to do with
- 26:34Solaire's history against him, right.
- 26:36And you have a couple gobble dingers off of him.
- 26:39Dude, he's, if this is correct, 14 for 23 with five homers.
- 26:48I don't think it. I mean, that's, that's, that's
- 26:51Devers coal territory. In fact, that's that that might
- 26:55even get better. I don't even I don't even know
- 26:58what those numbers are at. But I mean, my goodness, it
- 27:00doesn't get much better than that.
- 27:02So he had the he had the Homer and then was hit by the pitch.
- 27:07Is that correct or, or did he come in?
- 27:10Did he come up and in a couple times I.
- 27:14Don't remember. From what I from what I know is
- 27:17the IT was the breaking ball that hit him on the hands and
- 27:19the second at bat. This happened in his third at
- 27:22bat. Right, right, right.
- 27:23OK. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 27:26And then came up and in. Yeah, it was like a apparently a
- 27:30slider that on like a 22 count. So you kind of wonder, I think
- 27:35we all know there's no intent there.
- 27:38But yeah, I don't. I mean, I wouldn't want to take
- 27:42on Solaire, I know that much. That guy's.
- 27:46What's that guy's build? Built like a superhero but I
- 27:54don't what what's the deal? They already changed the Lopez's
- 28:00suspension. They already dropped it down to
- 28:025. Games 7:00 to 5:00.
- 28:05What are what's the appealing thing going on?
- 28:09Like? What is this?
- 28:10Why do you it's every time we lay down in the law, appeal
- 28:15happens right away and it's like what?
- 28:19Why, what, why what it what is the difference between A7 game
- 28:23and A5 game suspension? What's the difference?
- 28:26Pay I guess. That's that is the answer.
- 28:34Why? What are you saying?
- 28:36Like we look at that was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's not
- 28:397. That's clearly five games.
- 28:40Like what? Where did the change come from?
- 28:44I don't understand how that works.
- 28:47Is it? Is it?
- 28:48Like selection is. It like the.
- 28:50Pastigating. Or then like take longer to just
- 28:54randomly throw out seven games. Like take longer to figure out
- 28:59what the sentence should be. I mean, it's, it's very likely,
- 29:02I, I don't know for certain, but it's, it's very likely that
- 29:05they've got a sort of a guide that they're following for
- 29:08things like this. I mean, if it's, if it's so
- 29:12out-of-the-box, maybe they do have to take a little time back.
- 29:15I, we don't know what to assign the suspension for, but a brawl
- 29:21that we've, you know, we've seen these types of skirmishes time
- 29:25and time again. Well, you would have to, I'm,
- 29:28I'm just, I'm guessing here, you would have to imagine that the
- 29:31appeal system was put into place by the OR or presented by the
- 29:39association. So blame them, I guess.
- 29:43What are you, what are you arguing?
- 29:44Are you saying you just wish it was like a, a suspension and
- 29:48that was it? Or are you saying the selection
- 29:51is arbitrary? I think.
- 29:56I guess I don't understand the the point of an appeal if like
- 30:02you click, like you, I don't know, like the brawl clearly
- 30:05happened. You clearly threw punches.
- 30:08It's it's for exactly this is what it is.
- 30:11Get a couple games back, save some, save some money in your
- 30:15pocket. Yeah, I mean, I get that they
- 30:17lose game checks, like that's fair, I understand that.
- 30:20But just like it's dumb. Did Slayer appeal?
- 30:2670 Did he appeal? I I would imagine.
- 30:31Like he did because I think he hit a home run, didn't he?
- 30:33Didn't he hit a home run today? Oh, yeah, we were talking about
- 30:37that earlier. He did.
- 30:38He did play today. Yeah.
- 30:39So he he did appeal. I, I don't know why you
- 30:41wouldn't. I mean, you could plot a gun and
- 30:44shoot a guy and you probably you could probably still appeal.
- 30:48I think that one, that one, yeah, that one's probably not
- 30:50going to I. Only shot him in the leg, you
- 30:52know what I mean? Like.
- 30:55It's the second time we've pulled out a gun and shot
- 30:57someone here. The last few weeks, yeah.
- 30:59Yeah. So let me let me clarify here a
- 31:02little. Bit quick on that.
- 31:03Can I, can I, can I take that ball and run with it?
- 31:06Because you mentioned the other reference where I talked about a
- 31:09guy pulling out a gun and shooting.
- 31:11That was the Paul Skeens bit that I did.
- 31:15Did you see his comments by the way, today?
- 31:18I'm guessing there today, maybe it was yesterday about Conor
- 31:21Griffin. I mean, who's the same man?
- 31:26He let me pull it up. It was.
- 31:30It was that. I see a lot of comments so.
- 31:33There, no, from skiing. It's like, not right, Yeah,
- 31:36yeah, he said when they asked him about Griffin's extension.
- 31:41He said he's going to be the face of the Pirates for a long
- 31:43time, to which I responded translation.
- 31:48And that dropped the magic GIF where he's like, I ain't going
- 31:50to be here. I mean, what does that say?
- 31:55I mean, we're talking about, we're talking about a a
- 31:58perennial Cy Young threat. He's been.
- 32:05Yeah, this guy is going to be the face of the franchise for a
- 32:07long time. What are we talking about?
- 32:09Well. He's there for a six year
- 32:12minimum and or. Minimum.
- 32:13No, no, I I get it. But you're the one telling me
- 32:19the schemes doesn't want to go anywhere.
- 32:21So schemes will be there for a a long time too, won't he?
- 32:25Are we going back to this? What?
- 32:27No how does. All things come back to Pirates
- 32:30now. Listen, I'm going to just for
- 32:32the sake of everybody blaming me, just for the sake of
- 32:36everybody blaming me. I will go back because the Jorge
- 32:38Solera bat that we have are calling a slider up and in was
- 32:43not the case we had. My source was a Braves fan in
- 32:49our group chat. That's right, mine too.
- 32:51I I'm but I'm fact checking as I do.
- 32:54We have we have a 12 count and he goes ball in the dirt low and
- 33:00away for ball 2 and the very next pitch is 96 that hit him up
- 33:07in it. No, that's.
- 33:08Not guys don't like going a low and away off speed and then
- 33:13coming up and in. Like hitters don't like that.
- 33:16So there's reason there. I mean, it's still kind of silly
- 33:19to get you to two strikes and hit you.
- 33:21I don't think there's intent there, but hitters will almost
- 33:24always have a problem with it if you're getting me leaning out
- 33:28over the plate and then you come up and in.
- 33:30Yeah, and I said in the group chat where it's like it's just
- 33:33pitching is better, pitching is better, tunneling is better.
- 33:37Hitters have to stay in longer and more often than not, hitters
- 33:43are going to dive a little bit and kind of lean into the strike
- 33:46zone a little bit. And I don't know, I'm fine with
- 33:50it. The game, this is how the game's
- 33:54always been. This is nothing new.
- 33:55Like pitchers are going to work you off the plate and then
- 34:00they're going to jam you up inside and brush you off a
- 34:03little bit. Like that's Tales all this time.
- 34:07And hitters are going to charge them out.
- 34:10Yeah. Like the same the same thing
- 34:11like right? Yeah, I don't.
- 34:13I'm good with all of it. If you're going to throw inside,
- 34:16you better be able to control it, is what they say.
- 34:18A lot, you know. I I just wish there was like a
- 34:20slight delay, like let's let the hitter and pitcher kind of Duke
- 34:25it out for a SEC before everyone gets there.
- 34:26Like a hockey fight. Like, let's wait until
- 34:28somebody's getting their butt kicked before we step in.
- 34:32Yeah, put that jersey over his head and land some punches.
- 34:37That's the method. By the way, you RIP the jersey
- 34:39over there and. Isn't there a thing with those
- 34:43hockey jerseys? There's like a a special part to
- 34:45the jersey, right? That's like related to fighting.
- 34:50I'm not crazy. Do you do you guys know what I'm
- 34:52talking about? I don't.
- 34:55And now you're going to make me look it up.
- 34:57No, we'll trust you, but. I don't understand personally,
- 35:03but I'll trust it. It's called the fight Strap.
- 35:08It's the Velcro. Strap to the to the shoulder.
- 35:12It's the Velcro strap sewn on to the inside back of the authentic
- 35:16jerseys that loops through the player's pants, preventing the
- 35:19jersey from being pulled up over their head during a fight.
- 35:24That's the method. The fight strap, love that.
- 35:28Just give me, give me just a couple seconds.
- 35:30It's a little delay, you know, because then you get like the
- 35:38weird backpedaling and the flailing.
- 35:41It's just, it's not a good look for baseball players.
- 35:43It's it's never a good look. I'm trying to imagine the
- 35:46perspective of a non baseball fan watching this fight labeled
- 35:50as a brawl where it's just like it's just some of the worst
- 35:54punching forms we could ever ask for.
- 35:59Yeah, but going back to hockey, hockey's very much, in most
- 36:04cases A1V1 type showdown, you're not going to.
- 36:07Yeah, that's what I want. No.
- 36:08No, I agree with you, but I'm I'm just saying like it's not
- 36:12like these these non baseball fans that you're talking like
- 36:15tuning in, they don't necessarily have anything to
- 36:18compare to from a sports sense because yeah, I guess the
- 36:22numbers just aren't aren't comparable.
- 36:24Like you have entire dugouts empty and you have bullpens
- 36:27empty. Like you're just not getting
- 36:28that anywhere else. Yeah, I suppose.
- 36:31But I'm with you, one V1 all day, give it to me.
- 36:34Yeah, I think the goal of just about everybody except for the
- 36:37two fighting is to break up the fight too.
- 36:39Which is also lame. Like I need people to be down
- 36:41for the cause like. I know for this, like I'm coming
- 36:44for your head, like if I'm the first one, pick out a guy,
- 36:47getting the other guy's first guy on the scene.
- 36:49That's correct. I know my guy has his guy.
- 36:53And then you get. My guy.
- 36:54And then you just fall into line after that 2 gets 233 gets 3.
- 36:59Beat up an old man. Just be down for the 'cause
- 37:02that's all I'm asking. Yeah.
- 37:06Every once in a while you see those.
- 37:07You do if you've got a guy on your team that's down for the
- 37:11cause. Like the Yankees, Tigers won a
- 37:13few years ago, was solid and that one was like up against the
- 37:17backstop at one point. I love.
- 37:19Him, that's the key. That's the key.
- 37:21We got to stop funneling these fights to the sides.
- 37:24You got to just go straight to home plate because then you have
- 37:28nowhere else to go. Yeah.
- 37:30Granted, having said that, I would be curious to see what a
- 37:34fight would look like making its way out to center field.
- 37:38Sure. Shorten the distance a little
- 37:39bit for these boys. In, out, in the pen, maybe.
- 37:41Yeah, maybe then because you know, they're down for the
- 37:44calls. Interestingly enough, the two
- 37:47that we mentioned at the beginning of this was was done.
- 37:51It's around second base was the Odor and Jose Ramirez.
- 37:57Oh yeah, true. Those were both at second base.
- 38:00Yeah, that's a great example. The specifically the the J Ram
- 38:03one that I mean that's. That's right there.
- 38:07I know it would have to be almost perfect.
- 38:10Like you would have to as a like if you had, if you're a hitter,
- 38:14you had beef at the pitcher, it'd be perfect.
- 38:17Like you were a lefty and you rolled over to first base and it
- 38:20was like a flip to the to the pitcher covering.
- 38:23Then you can just go at it, dude, because no one's around.
- 38:26You guys are already right next to each other.
- 38:29That would be ideal. Or Nolan in Ventura.
- 38:33Same thing. Same thing.
- 38:34Just like. Beating up a pitcher covering
- 38:36first base for no reason. Unprovoked beef.
- 38:38Just have beef, obviously, like it's it's been established.
- 38:43Well, you didn't just let's find a better opportunity or let's
- 38:46immediately Sprint again. Let's let's get the hitters just
- 38:50beelining right. It's the build up that's like,
- 38:54Oh no. And then like the catcher
- 38:56figures it out. Yeah.
- 38:57And at that point, guys are already clearing out the dugout
- 38:59by the time you know, I. Think a lot of the flailing, I,
- 39:02I don't remember the actual, like image of this, but is a lot
- 39:06of the flailing because you have a guy holding onto your hip
- 39:09pulling you away. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:11So really there's no chance to land because they're constantly
- 39:15being pulled. The one, the two that come to
- 39:18mind, the the Bryce Harper one is tough because there was a lot
- 39:21of flailing on that one, not to mention the horrible helmet
- 39:24throw. But the other one that comes to
- 39:26mind, I don't remember who was with when Nolan Arenado was a
- 39:29Rocky and he was like chasing somebody down and his hair was
- 39:34like a lion's mane dude. It was just.
- 39:36I remember that. Yeah.
- 39:38And he's like just coming pause. But the Luis Perdomo.
- 39:44Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. Did you really just RIP that
- 39:48name or did you look it up? I looked it up.
- 39:51Oh, man, that's what he's here for.
- 39:52Nate Yeah. I just I was going to be super
- 39:55impressed if he. No, but talking about talking
- 39:59about the pulling away thing, going back, putting a bow on my
- 40:02being down for the cause point seeing Trout pulling Lopez away,
- 40:07I'm like, well, Trout's not a great example because I don't, I
- 40:09don't particularly know that Trout's down for the cause in
- 40:12any situation. No disrespect, but a situation
- 40:15like that, yeah, it's hard to tell, but.
- 40:18It's like a linebacker. It's a situation like that where
- 40:21you could have Trout just turn and heal.
- 40:25Isn't that what they say in in wrestling?
- 40:28You turn to heal, Yeah. Yeah, and just like you said,
- 40:32just pick out a guy and. Start it up again.
- 40:35Almost. Take him.
- 40:36Yeah. Like it starts to fizzle and
- 40:38then you're like, that's the best.
- 40:40When the broadcasters are like, whoa, whoa, whoa, we got some.
- 40:44Cameron's like, whoa, got to slide over.
- 40:47Yeah. Oh my gosh, the best.
- 40:51What was what was the Amir Garrett one?
- 40:53Yeah, that's. That's where he just went,
- 40:55right? At the dugout took on the
- 40:58Pittsburgh. Dude, they took him out of the
- 41:00game and he just said OK here and he just threw his glove down
- 41:03and took off. That's hard, dude.
- 41:05Yeah, that's. I love.
- 41:06Baller status. I don't care if my guy's behind
- 41:09me or not, I'm taking everyone on.
- 41:11I think I'm I'm not going to make that comment.
- 41:15I did just watch the Nolan Aronado 1 and Perdomo just takes
- 41:19his glove off and throws it at Aronado when he's going there
- 41:23and he starts backing up. Aronado would have hit with a
- 41:26serious, serious. Punch.
- 41:29If he wasn't ripped out of that. Oddly enough, it looks like Mark
- 41:34McGwire was involved in calming Aronado down in that.
- 41:37Didn't see that one coming when I was watching this.
- 41:41See what I mean? Rude rage days were behind him
- 41:44at that point. Yeah.
- 41:46What's the other beef? Oh, let's, let's get into your
- 41:48beef. Let's get into your little your
- 41:50little Wilson Contreras Brewer beef.
- 41:56I don't know first base. Boom, I look man, people are
- 42:02being like Wilson Contreras is a baby.
- 42:04Just suck it up. It's like they don't.
- 42:07A lot of the people saying that don't have the context.
- 42:10He's been, he's been a lot, a lot of people, people.
- 42:18So many people have been saying that Wilson can trade as a baby,
- 42:21but they don't have the context that he's been hit by the
- 42:23Brewers 24 times. Not to mention six of those have
- 42:28been by Brandon Woodruff. Now, was this, Was this at the
- 42:34head, this most recent instance this week?
- 42:37No, but you can understand the frustration.
- 42:40And I know, Nate, you texted me, to which I responded, it's the
- 42:44Manny Clemens vibes. Granted, much, you know.
- 42:48Yeah, I said the T move version. Yeah, the T move version of the
- 42:51Clemens mini vibe, but you get to a point where you're looking
- 42:53for something You're just looking for the first thing to
- 42:56justify going off on these guys and he wasn't happy.
- 43:01And I get it. And like I said, you're dealing
- 43:04with two, two different contexts here where you've got a history
- 43:07with this guy, but you've also got a a much longer history with
- 43:11the team 24 times. That's that's insane.
- 43:15But my I think I think the funniest part of all this for me
- 43:20was Yelich's comments after the game.
- 43:24I don't know if you saw. I think I did, but remind me so
- 43:28Contreras. After the game was talking about
- 43:33if they hit me, I think he said something like if they hit me
- 43:35again, I'm going to take one of them out.
- 43:37Which for the record, big fan enough of the like dancing
- 43:40around like, you know what, I'm just trying to this and that.
- 43:44Yeah, no, I'm. Go ahead, take a stance.
- 43:47If you're going to take a stance, take a stance, yeah, he
- 43:50said. I'm going to take one of them
- 43:51out, he said. That's my message.
- 43:53And then I think it was, it was either minutes before or minutes
- 43:57after Christian Yelich. They were interviewing him in in
- 44:00the other locker room and he was like, yeah, we've seen this skip
- 44:03before. Like it's and I'm like, well,
- 44:06that I mean nothing like just popping the balloon, man.
- 44:09Like I had, we had something, no pun intended here.
- 44:11We had something brewing. And then Yelich is just like,
- 44:14yeah, I mean, this guy is a dweeb, but.
- 44:20Popular word for Eve lately. I like who wins in a fight, Pat
- 44:25Murphy or Wilson Katuras. Oh.
- 44:28Actually, I mean, that's come on good.
- 44:29Question. What are we doing?
- 44:30I'm going Pat, dude, you're marking it.
- 44:33Oh yeah, I'm. Going no, you're not that guy's
- 44:37Oh yeah. All right, let's.
- 44:39I'm going experience on that one.
- 44:41If I see anything on his Wikipedia hinting at a bat, a a
- 44:47football background, anything with martial arts, then I'll
- 44:51seed you this point. But if his, if he's just a
- 44:55baseball lifer, I don't know that I can give that point to
- 44:58you because he's 67. Yeah, I'm giving him the edge.
- 45:03I, I, I I can't do. That but it that's where it all
- 45:08was mostly starting right because those two you're you're
- 45:11yelling at each other quite a bit he.
- 45:16Who? Murphy and Wilson?
- 45:18Yeah, they were. They were yabbing at each other
- 45:20for sure. Murphy served as a head baseball
- 45:24coach and assistant football coach for the Maryville College
- 45:27Fighting Scots. There you go.
- 45:29He was probably, he probably played football with leather
- 45:32helmets back in the day. Like you don't mess with guys
- 45:34like that. Oh, we played Maryville in
- 45:39baseball. There you go.
- 45:41Shout out that D3 life. Yeah.
- 45:45So maybe he does have a little bit of a football edge to him.
- 45:48He's still I think I'm. Scared of him.
- 45:50I think I'm scared of him. I'd be, I'd be scared of him.
- 45:54He's intimidating. Oh yeah, I mean, I respected the
- 45:57the John back at Contreras basically just being like, shut
- 46:00up, dude. Like shut up.
- 46:01I love, I love seeing that from guys.
- 46:05But he's 67. I'm giving, I'm giving him the
- 46:09edge. Yeah, I don't know, but I'll
- 46:12have to say, I mean, main take away from the whole situation is
- 46:17the Sox took the series from the Brewers.
- 46:19Who prior to it's your first series win?
- 46:24It is. How about that They're now let
- 46:30me just double check here. It's 4:00 and 7:00.
- 46:34Now worse like 4:00 and 8:00, Yeah, they went into they, they
- 46:43took the first game of the series to push us to 2:00 and
- 46:468:00. And then at that time, I believe
- 46:49they were eight and two. At the time you were.
- 46:54And. You're in a rough spot.
- 46:56Are you in a less rough spot? They lost the series to a team
- 47:00that at one point in the series was two and eight.
- 47:03What does that say about the Brewers?
- 47:04There is a lot of I think I remember.
- 47:06What does that say about Mizarowski?
- 47:08The. The broadcast talking like the
- 47:12weird ties between the two teams, like the Wilson Contreras
- 47:15obviously being in the division for most of his career and there
- 47:18was like the Caleb Durbin, who else there was a lot of like
- 47:23his. Brother.
- 47:25There's a lot of like. Yeah.
- 47:26Interesting. Oh yeah, William Contreras being
- 47:29there. Yeah, there's like a lot in
- 47:31there, but those. Which has got to put him in some
- 47:34kind of awkward situation right there.
- 47:36Yeah, yeah. Pick a different team, you know,
- 47:43and there's, it's been a long history, right?
- 47:46I mean, he's cleated several guys.
- 47:47He's backed, he's caught up, you know, he's backed up and ran
- 47:51into the base, like backed into the baseline to knock guys out.
- 47:54And I mean that, you know, there's it's been a little back
- 47:57and forth. It's not just he's been hit.
- 47:58Yeah. You saw his slide, he took it
- 48:00second. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:02That's not the first. That was the other tie.
- 48:04David Hamilton, former Red Sox, the guy he, he tried to take out
- 48:09at at second or he, he clipped him.
- 48:12But yeah, it was just a wild, wild couple of days for you.
- 48:19Guys won't see each other again unless you both make the World
- 48:21Series, so. Yeah, which I hate, man 'cause
- 48:26like I said, I. Kind of liked a little.
- 48:28Something was brewing there a little bit.
- 48:31I want to see, I want to give me, give me Jacob Mesorowski on
- 48:35a, on a silver platter. We own that guy.
- 48:41OK. That's a lot, yeah.
- 48:46Tell me I'm wrong, What? Do you give up to?
- 48:51I think he, I think they charged.
- 48:53I think they charged the third run to him.
- 48:55Yeah, I'd say we own him, considering we were two and
- 48:59eight at the time. Your defense looked impeccable
- 49:01all week. So sorry that was a shot.
- 49:05That was a shot. No, it was fair, fair.
- 49:09No look we saw, but we took the series against Mitzerowski's
- 49:12Brewers and I'm so I'm I'm cool, I'm cool.
- 49:17Any other any other news items we got to cover?
- 49:22Wasn't just. Me.
- 49:22Or did that Dodgers? The Blue Jays series felt like
- 49:25it was a week and a half long. I that I swore that started on
- 49:29like last Friday. Who ended up winning today?
- 49:32Did the Dodgers end up sweeping that thing?
- 49:34Toronto won. Otani started the first start of
- 49:38this year, first start of the season today.
- 49:42His his scoreless streak is going back to like last year.
- 49:45I think I just saw it was like what, 27 or 23, Yeah. 23 and
- 49:51change. I'm I'm in on Otani.
- 49:53Now that he's on my fantasy squad, I'm I'm all tapped in.
- 49:57It's kind of hard to manage when you see the SI know I'm like
- 50:01like is he start? What do you mean?
- 50:03Was is he in the lineup or is he it's hard?
- 50:08Is he in the ME the other day? Yeah, well, like what?
- 50:11What side of the ball we we working with here that first
- 50:15game of the series? I was Speaking of that.
- 50:16Do do you see that little, little insult to injury?
- 50:21We're putting Miggy Roe in to close it out.
- 50:24Yeah, I think that was for sure on purpose. 14 to two, Yeah, big
- 50:29fan of that. That's insulting.
- 50:31Yeah, big fan of that. Big fan, huge fan.
- 50:38Suck it, Canada. I just got you asked me that the
- 50:41other day. You're like, do you still hate
- 50:42the Blue Jays? I'm just like, honestly, I who
- 50:46like, who is there to hate on the Blue Jays right now?
- 50:48All of them I had all. Who I I can understand.
- 50:53Bugs me now because of being a blue Jay.
- 50:56He's on his way out, though. George Gladdy.
- 50:59Gladdy, I could understand as you being the Yankees fan.
- 51:02I get that. George Springer.
- 51:05Whatever. I.
- 51:06Can't stand George Springer. I don't.
- 51:09I don't know. I can't explain it.
- 51:11Can't explain it. I mean, you probably could 2017.
- 51:18There's a lot of it, yeah, I think carried over from the
- 51:20Astros hate and he, he just owns us.
- 51:24That's probably. There you go.
- 51:26There it is. Yeah, he explained it.
- 51:28You know Guzman played against him in high school.
- 51:31Like I, I kind. Of no way dude.
- 51:34Hated him, then somehow I kind of still hate him.
- 51:37Wow. Yeah, but I also kind of like,
- 51:41hope he succeeds. It's weird.
- 51:43It's a weird thing. Let's move on.
- 51:45Let's move on. No, I'm asking you guys because
- 51:50I admittedly was, I've been a little, little checked out last
- 51:52few days trying to get this new floor in my office.
- 51:55So I've, I've been sick flex, little tapped out.
- 52:02No, it's not a sick flex. It'd be a sick flex if I said I
- 52:06paid somebody to do it because we had the money to do it.
- 52:09I'm doing it myself. How about my Rockies?
- 52:15How about my being 6:00 and 6:00?
- 52:17How about my White Sox? I mean it on the Asher.
- 52:20I don't think your White Sox are 6 and 6.
- 52:22They're 4:00 and 8:00, but they swept the Blue Jays.
- 52:26We're just going to, we're going to roll right past that.
- 52:29The defending American League champs.
- 52:32And last in their division. I don't care.
- 52:36I'm taking, I mean, I got the, I got the over.
- 52:38I, I, what are that's the hill I'm dying on.
- 52:40I'm I'm a big Rocky guy. What was the hill you?
- 52:44What was the hill that. Was the hill I'm dying on.
- 52:47So they're going to win more than I think.
- 52:48I don't remember the line. It was 50 something, 55 I think.
- 52:5255 games. That's the hill I'm dying on the
- 52:54whole year. I don't care if everything else
- 52:56is wrong. I will be right about that one
- 52:59six and six. Hot start.
- 53:03Put up a nine spot against the Astros today.
- 53:05Let's go. 49 wins ago, yeah. Or I guess, no, I guess it'd be
- 53:1150 because you said more than 55 if that was the number.
- 53:14So it'd have to be 56. Means you got 50 countdown, 50
- 53:19wins to go for the Rockies. That's it.
- 53:21That's all we got to do, just chip away, just.
- 53:23Chip away. You got you got what, 150 games
- 53:28to do it? Yeah, You just got to win a
- 53:33third of your games if you're the Rockies.
- 53:34Like that winning percentage of 333.
- 53:37Pretty hard to screw up. Speaking of, that's what the
- 53:42White Sox have right now. What?
- 53:45333. We're not here to talk about the
- 53:50White Sox. I said my piece about the White
- 53:53Sox and we moved on. I would say to all the fan bases
- 54:00like Boston Red Sox fans and Detroit Tigers and hold on,
- 54:05listen, let's. Talk about the White Sox.
- 54:07He's like, yeah, so here's the reason the Red Sox are just.
- 54:10I'm saying. Poop I have.
- 54:12I'm just saying Red Sox specifically calling out these
- 54:16teams in specific in in particular Tigers, Mariners, Red
- 54:19Sox. I'll even throw in the the Cubs,
- 54:22the Phillies. It's very early.
- 54:27This season's not over. This is the same reason that
- 54:31that, you know, some of these teams are hot, are hot or wait
- 54:36it out. It's fine.
- 54:38Hang in there. You do UKC don't sell the team.
- 54:41Who? Cares, don't be crazy.
- 54:42Don't listen to him. You're fine.
- 54:44We would have gone to react if we would have gone, I mean, I
- 54:46still think they should sell the team, but if we would have gone
- 54:47to 2 and 10, if we would have gotten swept, I I don't know
- 54:51what I would have done, but I tell you what I'm going to do
- 54:54right now, I'm going to give you.
- 54:57Marey's Question of the Week. Marey's question of the week.
- 55:02It's been a minute. Glad to have Marey back in the
- 55:04mix. Marey's question of the week.
- 55:07And we don't have to. We don't have to drag this out.
- 55:10So I know J BS already got his answer.
- 55:13Locked and loaded. Marey's Question of the Week is
- 55:16top three movie or show quotes you use on a daily or weekly
- 55:20basis. I just, I feel, I feel like
- 55:28that's what she said. It's just like too much of A
- 55:31layup, you know? But it is, it's just, it's, it
- 55:37never misses for me. It never misses.
- 55:40It's never going to fade. I'm going to pass it on to my
- 55:45kids. I'm going to pass it on
- 55:47generations. I've got an office one that I
- 55:51use a lot and I don't know that people necessarily catch catch
- 55:55on to it because it's not the quote per SE, but it's the tone.
- 56:02You know that scene for those who watch The Office, you know
- 56:04that scene where Pam and Dwight are sitting in the break room
- 56:09and Pam is talking to Dwight about Angela and, and give and
- 56:16suggesting that he get her something that says how much he
- 56:21cares about her. And he goes like a ham and she
- 56:23goes, no, not like a ham. I use that inflection probably
- 56:3010 times a day. And it'll be it'll be.
- 56:33No, not fill in the blank. Yeah, I I mean I use that all.
- 56:38That's a, that's a deep cut. That's.
- 56:40A. It is a deep cut.
- 56:41Yeah, well, we do our How I Met your mother thing all the time,
- 56:47you know. Oh, right, that is what that's
- 56:49from. Yeah.
- 56:50Well, I'm I'm guessing, I don't know if it's out there.
- 56:57I'm all jacked up on Mountain Dew, Talladega Nights, that's.
- 57:01You say that a lot. Oh yeah, I'm.
- 57:04Going to come at you like a spider monkey.
- 57:08They were grandpa's wore medals off the bridge.
- 57:16I think there are probably several movies that are just.
- 57:19I could quote Tommy Boy, Dumb and Dumber.
- 57:22Like in almost any context of life, almost heroes like these
- 57:29are. Set generation right above us,
- 57:31you know, Keep going. Those are timeless movies
- 57:35though. Timeless.
- 57:38But those movies in particular are are just forever Dang it
- 57:43Bobby from King of the Hill. I I mean like if I stub my toe,
- 57:46I say Dang it Bobby. It's, it's just, it's a part of
- 57:50my everyday reaction to things. I mean, to the point where like
- 57:57my 3 year old I've heard say Dang it Bobby before.
- 58:00It's no clue what that's from other than hearing me say it.
- 58:07Oh man, I'm going to think of some other ones.
- 58:09I will also say Katie tells me all the time, like I will try to
- 58:14avoid using the ones that I use all the time and she'll just
- 58:20give me a look and say go ahead because she knows what's coming.
- 58:23It's so predictable. Anytime anyone says both of
- 58:27them, I just think of the Dumb and Dumber scene where I go both
- 58:30of them. I have to do it.
- 58:36I I wouldn't say it's a direct quote, but it's an inflection
- 58:40kind of similar what you were saying.
- 58:43Big, big king of Queens guy. So it's like the you know, like
- 58:52the you know what, what what is I mean, some of the words that
- 58:57he says is like fornicacion. You know what I mean?
- 59:00Like that I'll do. If there's like a shun at the
- 59:04end of a of a word like tion, it's gonna eon.
- 59:09I'm gonna RIP that. I will never see Domino's Pizza
- 59:13without thinking of the the opening scene of 1 like.
- 59:16Domino's the. Local joint Domino's.
- 59:19You talking about Domino's? Pass the cats up.
- 59:25And he he tells him how to dial the number and he says 16.
- 59:28He's like, I can't go back in time and throw a one in there.
- 59:32How about use a little phone number etiquette?
- 59:36Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba. That's it's a great show.
- 59:41I'm going to run it back. I'm I'm inspired.
- 59:42It is a great show. The the I'm not superstitious,
- 59:46but I'm a little sicious. Yep.
- 59:49Yep. Oh, when Kevin's like my dogs
- 59:52are barking, I say that all the time, especially at this ripe
- 59:56age of 32. Is that how he puts his feet in
- 59:58the in the tissue? Boxes.
- 1:00:00No, he puts him in the ER. Like after the wedding, yeah.
- 1:00:04After the fact, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:05Puts him in the ice chest in the in the hotel.
- 1:00:09My dogs are barking, all right, that I think that satisfies her.
- 1:00:14That was good, yeah. He's killing me, Smalls.
- 1:00:16That's. A good one.
- 1:00:19JB, you got you Got some quick trivia for us.
- 1:00:22Yeah, yeah. Hey, this this past Monday.
- 1:00:27Hey. Let's let's give a a little
- 1:00:31shout out to Jose Ramirez surpassing Terry Turner as the
- 1:00:34franchise leader in games played for Cleveland with 1600.
- 1:00:38And 20 games. Played Terry Turner, that was.
- 1:00:42That's not one anybody's pulling, I don't think.
- 1:00:44You know him, you love him. At this point, you know, nobody
- 1:00:48really likes the name Guardians. So it seems nobody in in that
- 1:00:51area of the country. Let's just rename it to the
- 1:00:53Hosies. That's what that's what Tom
- 1:00:56Hamilton likes to refer to him as.
- 1:00:59I mean, they, they did this before with, with my guy and
- 1:01:03then my name game guy, Napoleon Lajaway.
- 1:01:06They renamed the the team the Cleveland Naps because he was on
- 1:01:11the team. Been done before.
- 1:01:13Been done before, let's do it again.
- 1:01:15Who says? No, this is all new to me, dude.
- 1:01:19All new. No idea.
- 1:01:22You didn't know that. There you go.
- 1:01:24No idea. All right, so listen, Cleveland
- 1:01:28is. Rarely on my mind, JB.
- 1:01:30We are not going to obviously go through.
- 1:01:32All the Ray Charles song that he wrote Cleveland.
- 1:01:41They use it for the masters. It's the theme song for the
- 1:01:44masters anyway. Anyway, go ahead.
- 1:01:47All right. So obviously.
- 1:01:49Ohio. It's on the river.
- 1:01:52Everybody knows this. Or the the lake, whatever.
- 1:01:54Everybody knows this. All right, What's the trivia?
- 1:01:57All right. So we're not going to go through
- 1:01:58all the teams, right. So you can you can hand pick
- 1:02:01what you want, but is there any, is there any teams that you can
- 1:02:04tell me to the the team leader and games played?
- 1:02:08You want to go Brewers? I don't know if you do, what do
- 1:02:12you got? Here's what I have here.
- 1:02:14I have I have the team leader, the all time leader.
- 1:02:18I've got a runner up that probably doesn't matter much,
- 1:02:21but I could tell if you're close.
- 1:02:23And then we have an active player leader in games played.
- 1:02:27So you know what I mean? So for any team, you can throw a
- 1:02:30team out there and see if you can get the the all time leader
- 1:02:34in games played or the active leader.
- 1:02:37Now they don't have to be playing for that team right now.
- 1:02:40You want to cheat? I think we can cheat a little
- 1:02:42bit. Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals.
- 1:02:44Why is that cheating? Because it's like, is it the
- 1:02:48whole franchise or we just, you know, like the history of the
- 1:02:52whole? French nationals, are we talking
- 1:02:54Expos? Right, right.
- 1:02:55Right. I will say it doesn't matter.
- 1:02:57That is true. He is the leader.
- 1:03:00Bang, let's. Go bang.
- 1:03:05So there is an active player who would be the active leader in
- 1:03:10games played. And this is interesting because
- 1:03:17you're also, he's also the active leader for another team.
- 1:03:22That specifically the Nationals. The guy who's the the active,
- 1:03:27the player who's still active, who has the most games for the
- 1:03:30nationals, also has the most games as an active player for
- 1:03:34another team. Whoa.
- 1:03:39You're saying we established Zimmerman as all time, but
- 1:03:44you're saying. He's all time, yeah, but he's
- 1:03:45not that. Guy for the Nats, yes.
- 1:03:48Yeah, he's the all time there is a guy who is still active.
- 1:03:52So that's what this number is. It's just anyone who's active
- 1:03:55who has the most for a team among other active.
- 1:04:02Players. No, I yeah, I know that.
- 1:04:04OK, he's saying. I was just making sure active
- 1:04:06question. Current national who's also no
- 1:04:10no no. An active leader for another
- 1:04:12team. No, he's saying the Nationals
- 1:04:15are one of the teams. Yeah, could be, could also be
- 1:04:19active still for the other team, could be active for a third team
- 1:04:21and still have done this. Gotcha.
- 1:04:24Hint, he's not, and he's not currently active for the for the
- 1:04:28Nationals either. So this has nothing to do with
- 1:04:33the Nationals, Harper. Harper, Harper As far as active
- 1:04:38players, he's played the most games for the Nationals and the
- 1:04:40Phillies now obviously, so we'll pivot that.
- 1:04:46Who is the all time Phillies games played leader?
- 1:04:50Schmidt. Killing it.
- 1:04:52You guys are killing it. Do your teams now?
- 1:04:55Give me the Yankees, Nate. Jeter's all time.
- 1:05:00That's it. This one's easy.
- 1:05:04Guy was a liability of short. Active Stanton.
- 1:05:09No. Judge, Yeah.
- 1:05:13What? Judge Judge, the active leader
- 1:05:16for the Yankees. Wow all.
- 1:05:19Right. How about Red Sox, Kyle?
- 1:05:20Is Stanton the leader for the Marlins?
- 1:05:23He is. Hey, I'm killing her right now.
- 1:05:28Just the active though, not the all time, yeah.
- 1:05:30Yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you got for the Red Sox,
- 1:05:33Kyle? Can we do that one real quick?
- 1:05:35Can we do all time? Marlins Yeah, What do you got?
- 1:05:48Full time. Marlins.
- 1:05:50You wanted to, which isn't very long, so I feel like this is one
- 1:05:53of the more gettable I. Don't know if he's there,
- 1:05:59Hanley. Not Hanley, he spent some time
- 1:06:03other places, like quite a bit. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:06I just figured he was young when he came up.
- 1:06:09Red Sox all time great Hanley Ramirez.
- 1:06:18Did you hear that super quick tangent?
- 1:06:21Did you hear that's you probably didn't the story that Brock Holt
- 1:06:24shared about the reason they let him go or one of the reasons
- 1:06:28they let him go just out of nowhere.
- 1:06:31He said Brock Holt was telling the story.
- 1:06:33He said he Hanley Ramirez looked at him one day they were get
- 1:06:36they're warming up for a game. Hanley Ramirez looked at him.
- 1:06:39They're stretching the outfield and goes I'm going to, I'm going
- 1:06:43to bring a gun tomorrow and shoot you or something or
- 1:06:47something like this. It was something about.
- 1:06:50Guns isn't 2 episodes. Yeah, what?
- 1:06:53What about What about 3? What's going on?
- 1:06:56There 3 gun references. Yeah.
- 1:06:59Anyway, they're on fire. Oh, I don't even know.
- 1:07:03Marlins all time? Is it an infielder?
- 1:07:05It is. Oh, Miguel Cabrera.
- 1:07:09It's not Miguel Cabrera. Do you think Mike Lowell was
- 1:07:11there long enough? It's kind of like my way of
- 1:07:14guessing. No, not my.
- 1:07:16Conine. Conine's number 2.
- 1:07:18He is the runner up shoot. Bang, I'll take #2 that's pretty
- 1:07:25good. All right, Luis Castillo was #1
- 1:07:28Nah. It wasn't getting.
- 1:07:29Loose So Red Sox, though, Kyle, I need you to give me the Red
- 1:07:31Sox. I mean, Ted Williams seems like
- 1:07:39a good place to start. Not Ted Williams you missed.
- 1:07:43He missed a few years there. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:07:46Because he's a freaking legend. It's probably somebody from like
- 1:07:55the Free. It's probably like, Nope, Billy
- 1:07:57Bob. Billy Bob Millworker.
- 1:08:01No, you can get this. Not like not super recent, but.
- 1:08:05David Ortiz. Not David Ortiz.
- 1:08:07Nope. But Pedroia, not Pedroia.
- 1:08:11Definitely not Petroia. It was like a guy that missed
- 1:08:14time. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:08:16He. Was only there.
- 1:08:19Coco Krish. No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:08:21No, that's not. Like, I just listened to to a
- 1:08:24podcast that had Pat Murphy, another guy we brought up in
- 1:08:28this episode, talking about Dustin Pedroia and his case to
- 1:08:31be in the Hall of Fame is pretty interesting.
- 1:08:32ASU guy. Oh my gosh.
- 1:08:40It's a tough look. It was a tough look.
- 1:08:46Jason Varitek. Not Varitek.
- 1:08:49Older, older. Keep going back, but not like
- 1:08:55the actual red sock on the jersey that far back.
- 1:08:58Fair, fair, fair. What am I missing here?
- 1:09:03Yeah, I mean, this is a. What decade?
- 1:09:07That's a good question. I mean by.
- 1:09:08Ballpark just. Pulling out decades, I can give
- 1:09:11it to you, but 60s to 80s, sixties, 70s mostly we'll say
- 1:09:19that is. That Carlton Fisk.
- 1:09:23No, no. But you're you're close there
- 1:09:25with the first name, not. That Carlos Shrimpski.
- 1:09:28There you go. Any guesses on the active player
- 1:09:32who's played the most games for the Red Sox?
- 1:09:40And it he wouldn't have to currently be playing for the
- 1:09:42red. Sox Yeah, and I'll give you the
- 1:09:43hint, since, you know, I'll give you the hint.
- 1:09:46He's not I. I yeah, I know He's not.
- 1:09:48He's definitely not on this team.
- 1:09:51Let's go. It's Xander Bogart.
- 1:09:59There you go, you got it. You got it.
- 1:10:02Brian. I don't know if there's any
- 1:10:07other teams that that are that are worth it, but Paul
- 1:10:10Goldschmidt is the active leader for the Diamondbacks and the
- 1:10:15Cardinals. I thought that was interesting.
- 1:10:18Manny Machado, the Orioles and the Padres.
- 1:10:22Yeah, wow. Wait.
- 1:10:24Don't keep giving them to us, Nate.
- 1:10:25Pick a team. I didn't know how far you wanted
- 1:10:26to go. Let's let's close with one more.
- 1:10:29All right, I'll, I'll give you 1 here that you just named.
- 1:10:33This is a I'm going to tie it in with what with the Red Sox guy,
- 1:10:37active leader for the Giants. Oh yeah, that's a good one to
- 1:10:41end with active the Giants. And there's a tie.
- 1:10:52This one shocked me. This one shocked me.
- 1:11:04Let's go. Trying to think of the tie it.
- 1:11:12Was with the Red Sox. He was at one point with the Red
- 1:11:20Sox. No, that the the tie is with
- 1:11:23what is with one of the Red Sox answers.
- 1:11:36The all time leader in games played for the Red Sox has a
- 1:11:39very specific tie with this player.
- 1:11:41Oh, Mike. Yes, Mike Ostremsky.
- 1:11:45Brenda the Pot. No.
- 1:11:47Well, yeah, I thought you said connection.
- 1:11:48I thought you meant my Xander guests.
- 1:11:54I thought you were tying that to Devers.
- 1:11:55And I'm like Devers has been there for like 3 days so it
- 1:11:59couldn't be Devers. Right.
- 1:12:00Yeah. OK.
- 1:12:02Wait, So that's that's active all time would be Willie Mays,
- 1:12:07correct? Willie Mays is correct.
- 1:12:10There is there is one team with two players at the top.
- 1:12:15We're going to do the whole league, aren't we?
- 1:12:17One, well, no, I'm just going to tell you just because it's it's
- 1:12:20relevant to this, to this episode specifically, one team
- 1:12:25with two players at the very top and that is Roberto Clementi,
- 1:12:30Honus Wagner, same amount of games played.
- 1:12:32They are the franchise leaders for the buyers.
- 1:12:34For now, Till Connor Griffin entered the same.
- 1:12:38He'll be out of the league by 20-30.
- 1:12:42Just kidding. Just kidding.
- 1:12:46By the way, Bobby Benny is still getting paid one more year
- 1:12:50longer than Connor Griffin. Of that.
- 1:12:54Same 2433 games for Clementi and Wagner.
- 1:13:02Speaking of games, we're going to be watching some games this
- 1:13:05Sunday. Let's go.
- 1:13:08Sunday Clubhouse making its debut.
- 1:13:10I'm pumped. Making his way downtown.

- 1:13:15Keep going with that. Going back to the quote thing,
- 1:13:19it's not from a movie or show, but Nate does it.
