- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Coming up on HKB Uncut.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: It made me think about, oh my God, this is the reason why we do what we do.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: It's weird because like I felt like he did all the work.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: But for him, I was a huge part of him doing that.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: That's our why, right?
- 0:14SPEAKER_02: That that's what gets up every day to do what we do.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: There are a certain segment of patients though who want to, and like obviously we need to approach them uh in in the right way and make sure we're getting the result that they want.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it may not be the aesthetic that he and I want, and that's okay.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Segwaying into cosmetic surgery for men, um, I just want to know what are you guys seeing in your practice when it comes to either older men, younger men, if there's facelifts, rhinoplastys, what are you guys kind of like looking for nowadays?
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I think it's becoming more of the norm for male patients to ultimately have aesthetic services.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: And you know, I think we're both been patients, we both wanted things.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Um I had no hair back in the day.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I wish that was the case.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd have I'd have G's hair tomorrow.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Um But the there's no taboo anymore about having it.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: You know, men are talking about it, and so it's very common.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I know we both do a lot of liposuction, we do male tummy tucks, facelifts, eyelid surgery.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Anything you ultimately can think of, we can do both on men and women.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: And there's certain things that have like just ultra high, you know, satisfaction rating that people men were so conscious, self-conscious about.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: And when you alleviate and get rid of it, it's like it's a huge change from like gynecomastia procedure where people have some excess, you know, breast tissue.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, that is that is game-changing.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: There are other things that are more esoteric things that we do that are pretty interesting, where maybe a guy has like a leg deformity, has a you know, absence of a calf muscle, or or has one side where it's small and the other, we can we can augment one side and fix that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: And like you would think that's not that important, but it is it is really important to a lot of people.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: And there's stuff where people were born with um, you know, something called Poland syndrome, where they don't have a peck on one side, or there's some big asymmetry.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: And we can do you know, interesting things that are non-traditional, um, where we can do like a a pec implant in there and it gives them a total rebalancing of their physique.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Um and those things are just they're very powerful.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: So a guy, you know, just like a female, like they they are consumers of our services, and I think that it's it's very much more, very much so normalized, and it's normalized for one reason, because we can get results that don't look like operated results.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's the thing, at the end of the day, we don't want any of our stuff to look like it's operated upon.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: There are a certain segment of patients though who want to, and like obviously we need to approach them uh uh in the right way and make sure we're getting the result that they want.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it may not be the aesthetic that he and I want, and that's okay.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there there are a few occasions where I mean all patients across the board that it really impacted me, but one in particular on a male patient.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I remember this was probably two to three years into my um into my practice where this guy came in, G kind of alluded to Gonakamassi, we do a lot of that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: It's actually removing gland from from a guy's chest.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: He was a college student.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: He came in, um, kind of you know, looked down, didn't really want to, you know, talk about this issue.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: And he's like, hey, this has been bothering me forever.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: You know, I've never taken my shirt off and pee.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I've never taken my shirt off at the beach.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: I'm really conscientious about having taken showers, you know, in public or doing anything.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: And it's like this is something that's affected me my entire life is having male breast tissue.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Routine case, did the surgery, patient did great, looked great.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Followed up, didn't really hear from him um, you know, after three to six months, but a year goes by, I get a card in the mail, and uh the actual card.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Um he had a picture of himself with his girlfriend at the beach, shirt off, and he's like, Doc, I can't thank you enough.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: You ultimately changed my life.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Look at me now.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and that really kind of it made me think about oh my god, this is the reason why we do what we do.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: And that's still to this day I remember it many moons ago, but it it's still every time I think of a guy in a comastipation, I'm like, I think about that guy that we made that difference for.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: How long ago was that?
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: That was awesome.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: 2011, so 15 years ago.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: But it but it's pretty remarkable though, like what we do.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: You know, I I've had I'm not gonna lie, I've had so many, and I can tell you all kinds of just crazy mega transformations, but the one that uh sticks out in my head is uh is uh is is there any because you it's it seems simple, but it's a uh young guy that I took care of, he um, you know, professional father, husband, um really uh just annoyed at you know um kind of circumferential trunk kind of excess fat.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: He just wanted that to be lessened and maybe a little bit in the chest, kind of the hipporal area.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: And so we did kind of our tried and true, which we've been doing for you know a long time now, where we did multimodal energy-based liposuction, and um he got a great result.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: And you know, after the surgery, I mean he is just he he's just like I when I saw him in follow-up, I saw him normal follow-up is good, and then when I saw him in you know long-term follow-up, he's like, you know, Dr.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: Barty, you're a magician.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: And like it's it's fun when people say that kind of stuff, it makes your head bigger, and I got a huge head already, like a big ass head thing.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Anyway, but um he, you know, he put the thing that was so genuine, you can tell when someone's been here he's like, you know, he's like you changed my life, like you changed my life, and I I'm I'm so indebted to this, and like I mean, just like so much, and it's just like it makes you feel so good, but you're like, man, I just I'm just doing what I do, I'm just doing my job and what you wanted, but so incredibly grateful for it.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: And um, so he disappears for a while, and then he comes back and sees me, and like this guy comes in and he is jacked, like he is shredded out, super lean, and he's like, Man, I'm I'm back.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: I want to see, I want you to see I want to see you because I want you to do some more stuff for me.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: And like you, you helped me get to this point.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: You helped me um, you know, become this guy, and and like you in some ways you saved my life.
- 6:18SPEAKER_02: And I was like, I was just like, how, how did I do that?
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I don't I it wasn't understanding, but I guess it was uh it was like kind of a a part of his process.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: Anyway, he this guy is so shredded, he's like this ultra, you know, athlete now, and he's he he lifts weights all the time, and he's just like gotten so lean that he's developed he developed excess skin.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: He's like, now I can get rid of the skin for me.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: So I did a you know, skin-only abdominal plasty on him, and he's looking amazing, and it's just like it's weird because like I felt like he did all the work, but for him, I was a huge part of him doing that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, it just reinforces his concept that we we're part of this interplay, but it's just it's nice to have that that feeling, you know, when someone makes you feel that way, it makes you like so proud of what you do.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: But more than anything, I'm proud of him, you know?
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: But that's our why, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: That that's what gets us up every day to do what we do, is to be able to create these changes in individuals and hopefully for the better.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Totally.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: All right, well, that was a a fun discussion.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: I don't know how I keep having all these discussions with Bill, and somehow they're all fun, but after a while you're like, man, are we really gonna have another talk together?
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: But I'm kidding.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: They're they're great every time.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: So uh we look forward to seeing you guys next time.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Any comments or questions, please hit us up, even if they're um mean ones.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: Just kidding.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: Subscribe.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Thanks for listening.
