- 0:08Hey, hey, chill.
- 0:11Let's go.
- 0:12I was born a killer.
- 0:14I was meant to win.
- 0:15I am down and willing,
- 0:16so I will find a way.
- 0:17It took a minute,
- 0:18now it didn't happen right away.
- 0:20When they get hot in the kitchen,
- 0:21you decide to stay.
- 0:23That's how a winner's made.
- 0:24Stick a fork in the hay.
- 0:33What is going on, everybody?
- 0:34Welcome to the Clydesdale Media Podcast,
- 0:38where we are currently on
- 0:40the mission to interview as
- 0:42many of the Masters Games
- 0:44athletes as we can over the
- 0:46next several weeks before
- 0:49the CrossFit Games in Birmingham,
- 0:51Alabama.
- 0:52We started with Rudy Berger
- 0:57a couple weeks ago when I
- 0:58got to go over to his house
- 0:59and hang out with him.
- 1:01Then we featured Allison and Zoe Fiala,
- 1:07who both are a teen and a
- 1:08master's athlete mother-daughter,
- 1:10qualified and compete on the same weekend,
- 1:13and how they're dealing with that.
- 1:15But our first true profile
- 1:18is the sweetest woman in CrossFit,
- 1:21Allison Fiala.
- 1:22Oh, thank you so much.
- 1:24It just that made my day the
- 1:25other day when you were like, Hey,
- 1:26let's get you on the back on the show.
- 1:28So yeah, I,
- 1:30I've met a lot of people in this journey.
- 1:32And you are above and beyond
- 1:35the nicest person I've ever met.
- 1:37Oh, well, thank you.
- 1:39I don't know.
- 1:40Hopefully people close,
- 1:41like very close to me would
- 1:43agree to that.
- 1:44Hopefully my husband and my
- 1:46children would so.
- 1:46So yeah.
- 1:49when you get out on that
- 1:49floor there's a switch that
- 1:51flips and and then it's all
- 1:54on competitive fire uh
- 1:57savage out there so uh it's
- 1:59cool to see that kind of
- 2:01transformation when you hit
- 2:02the competition floor for
- 2:04sure yeah try to at least so so yeah
- 2:09So if people haven't seen
- 2:10you on here before,
- 2:11I need to tell them that
- 2:14last year you made the
- 2:15elite semifinals in North America East.
- 2:18Yes,
- 2:19that stacked North America East where
- 2:23all the big time names are.
- 2:26Allison made that and she was pregnant.
- 2:31Yes, I competed.
- 2:32I think I was 14 weeks
- 2:34pregnant during that weekend.
- 2:37So, so yeah.
- 2:39And feeling it pretty well.
- 2:43I had some good and some,
- 2:45some not good at all, but, but I was,
- 2:49I was so thankful that
- 2:50there was not a movement
- 2:51that came up that I was like, Hey,
- 2:53I just have no business
- 2:54doing this 14 weeks pregnant.
- 2:56So,
- 2:57so I was just thankful to get to do the
- 2:59whole weekend and,
- 3:01and not have any pressure
- 3:03and just go and have fun and enjoy it.
- 3:05So it was a blast.
- 3:06It was so much fun.
- 3:08What I thought was cool is
- 3:09you actually competed in
- 3:10regionals in like 2016.
- 3:13Yes.
- 3:14And then what, like seven years later,
- 3:17you make it back to that stage.
- 3:20Yes.
- 3:21And it just shows like what
- 3:22consistency hitting your gym,
- 3:25like consistently every
- 3:27week that you can get,
- 3:28but you can do amazing things.
- 3:30For sure.
- 3:30Yes.
- 3:32Um, yeah, it's been a long,
- 3:33a long journey.
- 3:34I've had two Achilles
- 3:36surgeries since then.
- 3:37I've had two pregnancies, two C-sections,
- 3:41um, one full recovery from a pregnancy.
- 3:44And then one that I'm like, I'm,
- 3:46I'm right at eight,
- 3:47eight months postpartum right now.
- 3:49So with my little girl, so, um,
- 3:51so I'm getting there.
- 3:53Still have a long way to go though.
- 3:55That's a perfect segue into
- 3:57what I wanted to talk about now is how,
- 4:00how far into your pregnancy
- 4:01were you able to work out?
- 4:04Oh,
- 4:04I worked out the entire pregnancy and
- 4:06wow.
- 4:07I am so glad that I did.
- 4:08Um, I, now this wasn't,
- 4:11I wasn't doing like full
- 4:12CrossFit training every single day.
- 4:15What I really loved being
- 4:17pregnant was taking full
- 4:18advantage of our class
- 4:19workouts and going to class.
- 4:22especially after semifinals was over.
- 4:23I had that whole summer last
- 4:25summer just to jump in
- 4:27class and just be a part of
- 4:29our community.
- 4:29I love our community at our gym,
- 4:32CrossFit Electric City,
- 4:33and just do our class workouts.
- 4:36And I was able to modify as
- 4:37my pregnancy progressed,
- 4:39which meant if they were
- 4:40doing GHD sit-ups, I was doing
- 4:43no sort of sit-ups,
- 4:44but I was doing things like
- 4:45kettlebell swings or slam
- 4:47balls or something just to
- 4:48get like a hip opening and
- 4:50closing movement.
- 4:52I was still doing, you know,
- 4:55things like pull-ups,
- 4:56but my butterfly pull-ups
- 4:57became kipping pull-ups and
- 4:58then it became banded
- 4:59pull-ups and then it
- 5:02So getting to go through the
- 5:03whole progression and just
- 5:04getting to modify as I went,
- 5:07I'm so thankful.
- 5:08And I feel like that helped
- 5:09me as a coach as well.
- 5:10Just, you know,
- 5:11we've had pregnant women
- 5:12come and go at our gym and, you know,
- 5:15getting to be an example for them,
- 5:16but also getting to like
- 5:17gain knowledge and gain
- 5:18experience to be able to
- 5:19help others as a coach as well with that.
- 5:22And so, yeah.
- 5:24Um,
- 5:24I was able to thankfully do a good bit.
- 5:28Um,
- 5:28some days I just did not have the energy,
- 5:30especially from chasing a
- 5:31toddler around all day, um, as well.
- 5:34So it was like, you know,
- 5:35today I'm just going to go
- 5:35for a two mile walk.
- 5:37And, um, that was great as well.
- 5:39But, um, but thankfully, yeah, I was still,
- 5:42you know, on the machines at the gym.
- 5:44I was, you know, doing,
- 5:46doing what I could.
- 5:46So, so yeah.
- 5:48Yeah.
- 5:48I think every time I have you on,
- 5:50you pre-read my notes,
- 5:51and I don't know how you
- 5:52get a hold of them.
- 5:53And then you give me segues
- 5:56into the next thing I want to talk about.
- 5:57Okay, cool.
- 5:57Yeah.
- 5:58But you are a coach.
- 6:00Do you have to take time
- 6:02away with this pregnancy
- 6:04and subsequently postpartum?
- 6:07Yes.
- 6:07So I actually did not take time.
- 6:10Well, I think the week leading up to birth,
- 6:13I did not coach that that week,
- 6:16that morning.
- 6:17But I want to say I gave
- 6:19myself three weeks after
- 6:22giving birth and then I was
- 6:23back in the gym.
- 6:24But I do want to preface back in the day.
- 6:27So probably three, four years ago,
- 6:29I used to coach full time
- 6:32and I had a good bit of classes.
- 6:33I coached.
- 6:34I had personal training clients.
- 6:36Um, but we, we moved, um, to the town,
- 6:39like one town over and then came back.
- 6:41Um,
- 6:42and then I had a kid in that time that
- 6:44I stay at home with.
- 6:45And so it's just been hard
- 6:47to like get those hours to coach.
- 6:49So, um, when I came back coaching,
- 6:51I was coaching one morning
- 6:53a week and then filling in as needed.
- 6:55So it's really not like I'm coaching, um,
- 6:59in the capacity that I used to, um,
- 7:01I do remote coaching.
- 7:02So I have a couple of
- 7:03clients that I program, um,
- 7:04for like their competitors,
- 7:06they want competitor style programming.
- 7:08Um,
- 7:08but then I also have nutrition clients
- 7:10remote.
- 7:11So that's great to have the
- 7:12remote cause I can do it, you know,
- 7:14after my kids go to bed,
- 7:16my husband's very,
- 7:16very great about that as well.
- 7:18I'm helping out in the
- 7:19afternoon so I can go, um,
- 7:21get some check-ins done with
- 7:22people or take advantage of
- 7:24it on Sundays.
- 7:26So remote is kind of where
- 7:27I'm at right now.
- 7:28But I do,
- 7:29I love the morning that I get to
- 7:31coach every morning.
- 7:32So I hope and pray that one
- 7:34day the opportunity will be
- 7:35there for me to step back
- 7:36in and coach more hours.
- 7:37But,
- 7:38having a very newly
- 7:39three-year-old and an eight-month-old,
- 7:42it's tough when I stay at home with them.
- 7:45And I will say some people
- 7:48do a great job bringing
- 7:49their kids to the gym.
- 7:50And I definitely have done that before.
- 7:52But if I were to go coach,
- 7:54I would not trust my
- 7:55three-year-old to behave.
- 7:58He loves the gym,
- 8:00but he needs supervision at the gym.
- 8:03So we don't have like
- 8:04childcare or anything.
- 8:04So yeah.
- 8:07I think my wife's phrase is
- 8:09seasons of life, right?
- 8:11This is the season you're in.
- 8:13It's going to change at some point.
- 8:15And then you're going to get
- 8:16to do other things you love
- 8:17again and get to then love
- 8:20on your kids in a different way.
- 8:21For sure.
- 8:22And I'm that's I love the
- 8:23way you said that,
- 8:24because that is like what I hope.
- 8:27I hope that one day, you know,
- 8:29when I have a little bit
- 8:30more child care for them,
- 8:31that I can jump back in and do some more.
- 8:34But but yeah, so I coach five and six a.m.
- 8:37every Tuesday morning.
- 8:39But but yes.
- 8:40And then, like I said, fill in as needed.
- 8:42So.
- 8:43So your husband is Dan.
- 8:47And I've heard.
- 8:49And we both know Jamie.
- 8:50She's my co-host.
- 8:52She's one of my best friends.
- 8:53I know that you two have
- 8:54connected through competition a lot.
- 8:58She says that if you're a
- 8:59competitive athlete at the
- 9:01level you guys are at,
- 9:03you have to be somewhat selfish.
- 9:06Do you feel that you are?
- 9:09And do you think your
- 9:10husband helps you to be that way?
- 9:14He definitely helps a lot.
- 9:16He actually we've had a lot
- 9:17going on this summer.
- 9:18He took on a new job,
- 9:19a new and he's a sales.
- 9:20He does like medical sales.
- 9:23And so he now sells a new a new drug,
- 9:25a new product.
- 9:26And he has been slammed like
- 9:28some mornings leaving the house at seven,
- 9:30not getting home till five.
- 9:33But he's been great about like, hey,
- 9:34you take the time that you
- 9:36need to go to the gym.
- 9:36So some days that means I
- 9:37show up at the gym after
- 9:38five and I stay for two
- 9:40hours and then I get my
- 9:41stuff in all packed in.
- 9:43I mean, it's just very focused at the gym.
- 9:45Get it in.
- 9:45Get out.
- 9:47Like last Saturday,
- 9:48we had an appointment for
- 9:50our son in Greenville.
- 9:51And so I went to the gym
- 9:53when we got back that afternoon.
- 9:54So he took care of the kids
- 9:55while I went to the gym.
- 9:56by myself that afternoon and
- 9:58got some stuff in then.
- 9:59Um, so yes, he's very good and he's,
- 10:02he's awesome about it.
- 10:04I'm probably the problem.
- 10:05I get the worst mom guilt.
- 10:07So I like the thought of not
- 10:10being able to be at home
- 10:11for like bath time and
- 10:13tucking my kids in.
- 10:14Um,
- 10:15is to like, I,
- 10:16it's like one of those
- 10:17things I can't sacrifice,
- 10:18which is another reason why
- 10:18I don't really love to
- 10:19coach in the afternoons
- 10:21because I don't want to get
- 10:22home at eight because my
- 10:23kids will already be asleep
- 10:24or on the way to being asleep.
- 10:25And so,
- 10:28so that's something that I
- 10:28definitely struggled with,
- 10:29especially this pregnancy
- 10:30is just trying to find that selfishness,
- 10:33I guess.
- 10:35Because I,
- 10:37I just want to be at home with my family.
- 10:39So, but I also want to be in the gym.
- 10:40So it's, it's tough, but, but yeah.
- 10:44It's funny when, when my daughter was,
- 10:45and she just turned 23 yesterday.
- 10:48So like this was a long time ago,
- 10:50but when she was a baby, um,
- 10:54I would always take the evening shift,
- 10:56like,
- 10:56cause she liked to stay up my daughter.
- 10:59So I would stay up till like 10 30, 11.
- 11:01My daughter,
- 11:01my wife would go to bed early
- 11:03and then my wife would be
- 11:04up for like the early
- 11:05morning so that we would
- 11:07just do these shifts to make it easier on,
- 11:09on both of us.
- 11:10Love that.
- 11:11Yes.
- 11:12And he's great about that.
- 11:13For example, like I said, last Monday,
- 11:15I didn't make it to the gym
- 11:15till after five.
- 11:17I actually jumped in and did
- 11:18our five 30 class and did
- 11:20some lifting before that
- 11:21did one other piece that
- 11:23had some running and cleaning.
- 11:24It was basically very
- 11:25similar to that semifinal
- 11:26workout with the running
- 11:27and cleaning jerks after class.
- 11:29And while I did that, he bathed both kids,
- 11:32got our baby fed, got her down.
- 11:34And then he was pretty much
- 11:35getting our son to sleep when I got home.
- 11:38So, so yeah.
- 11:40But that's rare.
- 11:40I don't want I'd rather just
- 11:43come in a little bit
- 11:44earlier if I'm able to.
- 11:45And we've been able to hire
- 11:47a babysitter the past several weeks.
- 11:49So that's been helpful.
- 11:51So, yeah.
- 11:53So, and,
- 11:53and my wife would feel that guilt too.
- 11:55She was, you know, she was mama bear like,
- 11:58and to this day she is mama bear, right?
- 12:00Yeah.
- 12:01I'm glad she let me have that time.
- 12:03Cause that was just,
- 12:04those evening hours were
- 12:05just me and my daughter and I,
- 12:07and that gave her and I that time alone.
- 12:09For sure.
- 12:11And, and as a dad, I wanted that too.
- 12:14I love that.
- 12:16Yes.
- 12:16That's great.
- 12:17So, so yeah.
- 12:19Um,
- 12:21So you're eight months postpartum.
- 12:24I believe that's what Tia
- 12:27was when she competed at Rogue.
- 12:28Okay.
- 12:30Yeah, that sounds about right.
- 12:31Six, seven, eight, somewhere around there.
- 12:35When you see someone like
- 12:37that doing what you're doing, again,
- 12:40Tia's a different level.
- 12:42Yes.
- 12:42Does that give you
- 12:43inspiration and hope that,
- 12:48Oh yes.
- 12:49Yes, for sure.
- 12:50Tia at Rogue.
- 12:51I watched,
- 12:52I watched that competition and it I think,
- 12:55yes, it was end of October.
- 12:56I gave birth the next month.
- 12:58And so I'm over here thinking I'm no Tia.
- 13:00So I'm not dumb enough to
- 13:01compare myself to Tia and
- 13:03think if Tia can do it, I can do it.
- 13:06But it is so inspirational to see her,
- 13:10you know,
- 13:11just come back and you can tell
- 13:12that she's not like, she wasn't like,
- 13:15you know, full, full Tia back,
- 13:17but she did her best.
- 13:18And I remember hearing
- 13:19something afterwards of her
- 13:20just saying how proud she was of herself,
- 13:23um, for that.
- 13:24And then another,
- 13:24another instance was in the games, 2021,
- 13:27I just given birth, um, to my first.
- 13:30And I remember just being
- 13:31super emotional postpartum
- 13:32and then watching any
- 13:33Thor's daughter snatch,
- 13:35whatever weight that was 200 and whatnot.
- 13:37I can't remember what it was after,
- 13:39you know,
- 13:40almost a year of giving
- 13:42birth to her first.
- 13:43And I remember crying, like just, you know,
- 13:46so inspirational.
- 13:47So, so yes.
- 13:50What do you think that these
- 13:53female CrossFitters are
- 13:54doing to redefine what it
- 13:57means to be a mom and to be
- 13:59postpartum and what being
- 14:02healthy going into the
- 14:03pregnancy does for your recovery?
- 14:07Oh, for sure.
- 14:08Yeah, I I think that's so important.
- 14:11And that's kind of what what
- 14:12my mission has been as well.
- 14:14I've never want anybody to
- 14:15compare themselves to me
- 14:18because we all have
- 14:18different journeys as far as like,
- 14:20you know, our pregnancies are different.
- 14:22We have different complications.
- 14:23We have different things
- 14:24that may be going on.
- 14:25We have different births, different.
- 14:28postpartum journeys,
- 14:29different support at home.
- 14:32So it's definitely,
- 14:34you never want to compare,
- 14:35but I definitely want to be
- 14:37an inspiration to others.
- 14:38And that was kind of why,
- 14:40in the back of my mind, I was like, hey,
- 14:41this may not be my year for the games.
- 14:44But the fact they were
- 14:45taking 40 did give me some
- 14:46hope that maybe I could.
- 14:48But I had said from the
- 14:49start that if I did make it,
- 14:51that I want it to be for
- 14:52all the moms out there, just to show that,
- 14:54hey, when you have a kid or two kids,
- 14:57you can still do these
- 14:59things and it does require
- 15:00a lot of hard work.
- 15:02It's not going to look the
- 15:02same as it used to.
- 15:03You're not going to be able
- 15:04to spend five hours in the gym.
- 15:06Um, your,
- 15:07your sessions in the gym may be a
- 15:08lot more focused.
- 15:10You have to really focus on
- 15:11recovery outside of the gym
- 15:13because there's not a lot
- 15:14of time for in the gym.
- 15:15Um,
- 15:16But it can be done.
- 15:18And I know for me, when I was pregnant,
- 15:22I sought the help of a
- 15:23pelvic floor physical
- 15:24therapist who she's a very
- 15:26good friend of mine.
- 15:28And so she was super helpful
- 15:30for me and gave me
- 15:31confidence when I was
- 15:32pregnant and gave me all
- 15:33the rehab to do postpartum.
- 15:35So those first couple months
- 15:37after getting birth are so
- 15:38crucial because you've got to know,
- 15:42you know, that you can't push it yet.
- 15:44That athlete brain kicks in.
- 15:46Uh, but you have to just do your rehab.
- 15:48So I did lots of core strengthening,
- 15:50lots of glute strengthening and, um,
- 15:54and yeah, and that,
- 15:54that makes a huge difference.
- 15:56So, so yeah,
- 15:58there's a lot that goes on
- 15:59behind the scenes and what
- 15:59people see on social media for sure.
- 16:03So I look at you and, and I'm like,
- 16:08there's no way this woman
- 16:09was pregnant eight months ago.
- 16:12Right.
- 16:12Yes.
- 16:14You've bounced back.
- 16:18From a looks perspective,
- 16:20like really fast.
- 16:21And I'm sure that like
- 16:22you're saying pelvic floor,
- 16:25like even Tia said at Rogue,
- 16:27like she couldn't even wear
- 16:27a weight belt because of recovery.
- 16:30She was still going on.
- 16:31Right.
- 16:32Going on inside the abdomen area.
- 16:35So where are you today with
- 16:37your fitness and recovery?
- 16:40Yeah.
- 16:4080, 90%.
- 16:44Probably not anywhere close to that.
- 16:46But thank you for that.
- 16:47That means a lot because I
- 16:48think we're our worst critics.
- 16:50And it's so easy to still
- 16:52compare myself to who I was, let's say,
- 16:56beginning of 2023 when I
- 16:57felt like I was in my prime.
- 17:00I was just fully recovered
- 17:02from having my first after 18 months of
- 17:05Um, and, and now it's like,
- 17:08like I was just at the gym
- 17:09literally right before I hopped on this,
- 17:10I got to go to the gym and
- 17:12we had a three by five back
- 17:14squat and we've been trying
- 17:14to progress every week.
- 17:16And my numbers are just nowhere near,
- 17:19they're actually weaker
- 17:20than they were when I was pregnant.
- 17:21Like just those good pregnancy hormones,
- 17:24um,
- 17:25that were pumping.
- 17:26I just do not have a lot of
- 17:27that right now.
- 17:29So, so it's, like I said, it's,
- 17:31things may look a lot
- 17:32better on the outside than
- 17:33they really are.
- 17:34I think on social media,
- 17:35we love to like portray our best when,
- 17:38you know, behind the scenes, it's,
- 17:40It's a struggle for sure.
- 17:42So just trying to stay super
- 17:43positive about it, trying to stay like,
- 17:47hey, you know,
- 17:48I even did a post on my
- 17:49story right before I jumped
- 17:50on this of like, hey,
- 17:51I used to be able to do
- 17:52this weight for 10 plus reps.
- 17:54And today it was a struggle
- 17:55to do three by five, but I did it.
- 17:58And yeah.
- 17:59And so just like it's just
- 18:01enjoying the rebuilding
- 18:02process is so huge.
- 18:04And and so, yeah,
- 18:05that's that's been that's been key.
- 18:08I will say after I stopped breastfeeding,
- 18:11I stopped breastfeeding
- 18:12after five months.
- 18:13So for a couple of few months now,
- 18:15I've I've not been breastfeeding.
- 18:17And for me, both pregnancies,
- 18:18that has actually made a
- 18:20huge difference in how I felt.
- 18:22And I think Tia had said the
- 18:23same thing that once she
- 18:25stopped around that time, um,
- 18:27and now some,
- 18:28some ladies may be totally
- 18:29different and can
- 18:31breastfeed and be totally fine for,
- 18:34you know,
- 18:34a year or however long they
- 18:35choose to do that.
- 18:36But for me, um,
- 18:38it's like your hormones are
- 18:40really just off while
- 18:41you're doing that and, um,
- 18:43always tired and, um,
- 18:45your body holds onto a lot of fat.
- 18:47Um, or for me it did, um,
- 18:49just trying to produce milk, I guess.
- 18:50And, um, and so once I stopped doing that,
- 18:53I felt like that was when I
- 18:55started to see some like
- 18:56changes like aesthetically.
- 18:59So, so yeah.
- 19:02So I've heard both Annie and
- 19:04Tia talk about how their
- 19:06strength came back quicker
- 19:08because of the way their
- 19:10hormones reacted to the pregnancy.
- 19:12But if you're saying that
- 19:14yours didn't do that,
- 19:15it just shows that every
- 19:16pregnancy is different.
- 19:18Yes, for sure.
- 19:19And same with weight.
- 19:21People are like, oh, you know,
- 19:22breastfeeding just takes
- 19:23those pounds off of you.
- 19:25And I'm still five pounds
- 19:27from my pre-pregnancy weight.
- 19:28And that's fine if I never get back there.
- 19:32You know, after giving birth,
- 19:34your body's just different.
- 19:36And that's fine.
- 19:37I know that for me, I'm doing my best.
- 19:39I'm making healthy eating choices.
- 19:40I'm eating enough.
- 19:42I'm not going out and
- 19:43getting crumble cookie
- 19:45every weekend that I would
- 19:46which I would love to do, but I'm not,
- 19:49you know, I'm, I'm trying to be very,
- 19:50very good about what I'm eating,
- 19:51what I'm putting in my body.
- 19:54You know, so, so yeah, so that,
- 19:57that definitely makes,
- 19:58makes a difference as well,
- 20:00but it's still,
- 20:01you just have to be proud
- 20:02of the effort you're
- 20:02putting in and then let God do the rest.
- 20:04So, so yeah.
- 20:07So we'll get,
- 20:10we'll get to the games in a second.
- 20:11And you mentioned God.
- 20:13So through this all, it sounds like
- 20:15that you've had some
- 20:16struggles like mentally just with like,
- 20:19and I, and trust me, I am,
- 20:21I am big in this.
- 20:23I compare to my pre-back surgery, Scott,
- 20:26right.
- 20:27And, and comparison is the thief of joy.
- 20:30For sure.
- 20:31And it,
- 20:32and it is something I struggle with
- 20:33all the time.
- 20:34How much do you lean on your
- 20:36faith and your church
- 20:39community to help you through all this?
- 20:41Oh, so much.
- 20:44Just knowing that everything
- 20:45happens for a reason.
- 20:46I feel like if I don't have
- 20:48that foundation,
- 20:49then everything's going to just crumble.
- 20:52So having that foundation of
- 20:55my faith and just knowing
- 20:56that I firmly believe that
- 20:59everything happens for a reason.
- 21:00And if it's
- 21:01you know, if it's not good, what good,
- 21:04you know, for me,
- 21:05like there's a reason behind it.
- 21:06And God has always shown that to me.
- 21:08And I guess an example of
- 21:09that would be my pregnancy.
- 21:10Like I think I share on the last show,
- 21:13getting pregnant last year,
- 21:14I struggled with it so much
- 21:15because I had that momentum.
- 21:18Like I was,
- 21:18it was 18 months after having
- 21:19my son and I was starting
- 21:20to feel like myself again.
- 21:22I just won Wadapalooza.
- 21:23I was like,
- 21:24I really want to make the games
- 21:25this year.
- 21:26I think I can do it.
- 21:27I finally believe that I can.
- 21:29And then I'm pregnant and I'm
- 21:31And I, you know, so it just,
- 21:34I was a little upset with
- 21:35the timing of it,
- 21:36but I wouldn't want my life
- 21:38any different right now.
- 21:39Like I'm,
- 21:39I'm so thankful as hard as it's been.
- 21:41It's been the hardest thing
- 21:43I've probably ever done
- 21:43going from one child to two children.
- 21:46I wouldn't want it any, any different.
- 21:48So it's just always having
- 21:50to surrender to that.
- 21:52And just knowing that like, Hey,
- 21:53my life is, I'm just open-handed and I'm,
- 21:57whatever comes at me, we'll just,
- 21:59we'll figure it out.
- 21:59So, um,
- 22:00and it'll make me stronger in the
- 22:02process.
- 22:02Cause I'll be honest,
- 22:03it's shown me how selfish I
- 22:04was going from one child to
- 22:07two children and just the
- 22:08thoughts that I've had of,
- 22:09I wish I could be at the gym.
- 22:10I wish I could go be coaching.
- 22:11I wish I could be doing this or this,
- 22:13but instead I'm holding
- 22:14this baby that's crying and
- 22:15screaming and trying to get her to sleep.
- 22:18And, um, so, so yeah, so it's,
- 22:20it's been tough for sure.
- 22:22But if I didn't have my faith and, um,
- 22:25I don't know.
- 22:25I would be a mess.
- 22:26So, so yeah.
- 22:28Every, every time I have those thoughts,
- 22:30my mom always says to me, it's God's time,
- 22:32not your time.
- 22:33For sure.
- 22:34Yeah.
- 22:34And, um, and when I first heard, I'm like,
- 22:39Oh, you're probably right.
- 22:40But man, it stinks.
- 22:42Like I, um, but I think like,
- 22:47like God uses us.
- 22:48Right.
- 22:48And,
- 22:48and you could be such an example to so
- 22:51many, um,
- 22:53and the way you're handling it, right?
- 22:56For sure.
- 22:57And I'm trying.
- 22:59I sometimes have some
- 23:00moments where I'm like,
- 23:01I get very frustrated.
- 23:03I get jealous even.
- 23:04I see people around me who have, you know,
- 23:07a lot more time to work out.
- 23:09And these are people who, you know,
- 23:11don't even have any
- 23:12competitions coming up, but they're,
- 23:13you know, training, training, training.
- 23:15And I'm here like
- 23:17Oh, I wish I could, but I,
- 23:19I'm not going to bring my
- 23:20kids up to the gym and make
- 23:21them sit in a hundred degrees.
- 23:23Like it's so hot.
- 23:24Um, you know, and I just,
- 23:28I'd rather go to the park
- 23:29with them or go make some memories and,
- 23:32um,
- 23:33which is, it's tough.
- 23:34And all my mental capacity,
- 23:36I feel like goes to that.
- 23:37And then I go to the gym and
- 23:38it's just kind of like,
- 23:39here's what's left over.
- 23:41But at the same time,
- 23:42like as important as CrossFit is,
- 23:45it still is.
- 23:47I hate to say it's not the
- 23:48end all be all because we
- 23:49all were here because of CrossFit,
- 23:50you know, we love CrossFit.
- 23:52I'm so thankful that I get
- 23:54to do CrossFit every day,
- 23:55but I'm always having to remember,
- 23:56it's just not the end all be all.
- 23:58And there's so much more going around than,
- 24:01than this, you know?
- 24:02So,
- 24:03this is just the icing on top.
- 24:05So.
- 24:06See, it's funny because it's,
- 24:08it's all about perspective and,
- 24:11in your not as up, like you're right.
- 24:152023.
- 24:15Like I, cause Jamie's my,
- 24:18one of my best friends,
- 24:18you two were battling
- 24:20competition after
- 24:21competition after
- 24:22competition for podium spots.
- 24:24Yes.
- 24:25And, and so that's how I got to know you.
- 24:28And I,
- 24:28and I got to learn about what the athlete,
- 24:30the kind of athlete you were,
- 24:31but in less than optimal
- 24:33situation as an athlete,
- 24:35you're going to be a rookie
- 24:36at the CrossFit games.
- 24:38Yeah, for sure.
- 24:39So isn't that really cool?
- 24:42It is.
- 24:43And it's just so cool how, I mean,
- 24:45so humbling how it happened
- 24:47because I was on the
- 24:48outside looking in and
- 24:52somebody declined and
- 24:54actually two people declined.
- 24:55And that's how Haley Murillo
- 24:56and how I both got in.
- 24:57We were 41 and 42 and
- 24:57somehow we both got in.
- 24:59So, so yeah.
- 25:06God's time, not our time.
- 25:08For sure.
- 25:09Yes.
- 25:09And I love that he's always
- 25:10going to make it to where I am not just,
- 25:14you know,
- 25:14easily getting in and that can
- 25:16make me prideful and go
- 25:19into something just like, oh, well,
- 25:21I got this.
- 25:22I'm better than everybody else, you know?
- 25:23And it's like, no, you're literally...
- 25:26next to last place, you know,
- 25:28ranked going in and, um,
- 25:30only up from here though.
- 25:31So, so I feel good.
- 25:33I feel I'm a much better, um,
- 25:35athlete now than I was a
- 25:36couple months ago during semifinals too.
- 25:38So.
- 25:39Again, you're, you're in my notes.
- 25:41So I know you finished
- 25:43better quarterfinals than
- 25:45you did semifinals.
- 25:46I did.
- 25:46I, and that's what after quarterfinals,
- 25:48I was like, wow, maybe I can do this.
- 25:50Cause the open,
- 25:50I was a couple months postpartum.
- 25:53I was, um,
- 25:54even that burpee dumbbell snatch workout,
- 25:56I was just a mess.
- 25:57I could,
- 25:58I couldn't even really jump over
- 25:59the dumbbell correctly.
- 26:00Like I was like,
- 26:01I had to like practice
- 26:02jumping over lateral over a dumbbell.
- 26:04Um, so the open, I was like, wow,
- 26:06I think I was like right under 200th.
- 26:08Um, and then quarterfinals.
- 26:12Yeah.
- 26:12I, that's what gave me hope to think, wow,
- 26:14I can actually probably
- 26:16going from 200 to 30th.
- 26:16I think I was 30th.
- 26:17Um,
- 26:19is a big jump and,
- 26:21and I feel great about it.
- 26:22And so, um,
- 26:23but then I got very humbled
- 26:25when submissions were in
- 26:26for the first night of
- 26:27semifinals and I was like
- 26:2850 something and after
- 26:31workouts one and two, and I was like,
- 26:32Whoa,
- 26:33I thought I would be better than this.
- 26:35So, um, so it was,
- 26:37it was a rollercoaster for sure.
- 26:39But yeah, quarterfinals, I know that row,
- 26:41the EMOM workout, um, went well for me.
- 26:45Um,
- 26:46the snatch and the row and the step ups,
- 26:48um,
- 26:49Um, yeah, there,
- 26:51I think the burpee one was fine.
- 26:53The wall ball burpee box jump over, uh,
- 26:56the gymnastics one was not good for me,
- 26:58but like I said,
- 26:59I was three months
- 27:00postpartum and I would love
- 27:01to retest that one now.
- 27:02So, so yeah.
- 27:05So I talked to Rudy and his
- 27:07wife Lynette a couple of weeks ago,
- 27:09and I find it like bizarre
- 27:12that the master semifinals
- 27:14ends before the elite.
- 27:17Yet your games are after the elite.
- 27:20So that gives you like a
- 27:22three month period of
- 27:24nothing until you get to the games.
- 27:27Right.
- 27:27Right.
- 27:28For Ruby,
- 27:29that's two-time champ going into
- 27:32this year trying to like three-peat.
- 27:35That would be frustrating
- 27:36that you have to kind of
- 27:36like woe back your training
- 27:39so that you don't overtrain
- 27:40and then figure it out.
- 27:41For you,
- 27:42every day you get postpartum is
- 27:45better for you.
- 27:46For sure.
- 27:47And I feel that 100%.
- 27:47So that's been nice.
- 27:51I love just the rebuilding process.
- 27:53I loved it after my Achilles surgeries.
- 27:55I loved it.
- 27:56Um, after my first child and,
- 27:59and getting to do it again
- 28:00has been really cool.
- 28:01So, so what,
- 28:03what have you done in this
- 28:04three months to one,
- 28:07not overtrain and to like
- 28:10take advantage of that time
- 28:12to be the most ready you
- 28:13can for the games?
- 28:15Yeah.
- 28:15Thankfully, as far as volume goes,
- 28:18the volume I'm putting in
- 28:19is not not that not a lot.
- 28:22So my coach has been great.
- 28:26So my coach is he he coaches
- 28:28just like the people who
- 28:29like to compete at our gym.
- 28:30So we do class programming,
- 28:33but we can modify it up to
- 28:35kind of fit more of like where we're at.
- 28:37And then he gives us extra
- 28:39stuff like some competitor
- 28:40training that has been
- 28:42super helpful for me.
- 28:43So so I prioritize that.
- 28:47I'm also doing it with, for example,
- 28:49there's a boy who does his
- 28:50name's Caden Myers.
- 28:51He went to the games last year.
- 28:5217 year old did really well.
- 28:54And now he is he is so good now.
- 28:57And I'm like,
- 28:58I don't need to be doing the
- 28:59volume that Caden's doing.
- 29:00He's he just turned 18 years old.
- 29:02And, you know, I crash crucible, right?
- 29:05He did.
- 29:06Yes, he did crash.
- 29:07Yes.
- 29:07And so so it's like I it's
- 29:10all in there and I just
- 29:11prioritize what I need to do.
- 29:13So I do that on my own.
- 29:14Usually I'll ask him for
- 29:16guidance sometimes, just like, hey,
- 29:17here's what I'm thinking.
- 29:18I'm going to back squat,
- 29:20then snatch and then do
- 29:21this conditioning piece.
- 29:22And that's probably all I
- 29:23have time for today.
- 29:24He was great and very clear about like how,
- 29:27hey,
- 29:27let's really dial it in six weeks out.
- 29:30And I've known for me,
- 29:32he's he's coached me over the past, gosh,
- 29:34since since regionals 2016.
- 29:36So he really knows me as an athlete.
- 29:38And that six week time
- 29:41training block has always
- 29:42worked really well for me
- 29:43to not get burnt out and not overdo it.
- 29:46So it worked out perfect
- 29:48because we had a vacation
- 29:49plan to Mexico to an inclusive resort.
- 29:52My husband and I did with
- 29:54seven couples from our gym there.
- 29:56And it was a blast,
- 29:59but we had it planned for a full year.
- 30:01So it worked out great that
- 30:03right when I got back,
- 30:04the six weeks started.
- 30:05So went and had a vacation,
- 30:07stayed super active on vacation,
- 30:10went to the gym every day.
- 30:11Played volleyball every day, walked,
- 30:13tried to be mindful about
- 30:15water and eating and all that,
- 30:17but came back ready to roll.
- 30:19And honestly,
- 30:20it took a few days to kind of
- 30:21get in the groove of being back.
- 30:24But since the middle of last
- 30:26week into this week,
- 30:27I feel like a new person.
- 30:28Like, I feel like...
- 30:30I feel motivated now.
- 30:33I feel like I'm seeing some
- 30:34progress now and it's
- 30:36really bumping my confidence up.
- 30:38And when I'm confident,
- 30:39I feel like I can do even better.
- 30:41So yeah,
- 30:43so that's where we're at five weeks out.
- 30:45So I think the goal is to
- 30:48push it for the next two,
- 30:49three weeks and then back
- 30:50off that last week and a
- 30:52half and kind of taper down.
- 30:53So yeah.
- 30:55So a couple of fun questions.
- 30:58You're going into this games
- 31:00as a rookie and there's a
- 31:02lot of like perennial
- 31:05semifinal athletes that
- 31:07I've gotten to know over
- 31:08the last few years.
- 31:09I think,
- 31:10I hope everybody has like Haley
- 31:12Murillo and Holly Henderson
- 31:15and Kelly Kelly and like,
- 31:19and you're competing
- 31:21against all these people
- 31:22and it's going to be their
- 31:23rookie year too.
- 31:24I know that's cool.
- 31:25Yeah.
- 31:27So when you look at it like
- 31:28a leaderboard like that,
- 31:29do you look at it as a challenge?
- 31:31Like, hey,
- 31:31it's fun to be out here with
- 31:32these ladies.
- 31:33Like,
- 31:34what is your perspective at this point?
- 31:36Yeah, that's a great question.
- 31:38So I originally like at first glance,
- 31:41I'm super intimidated to be
- 31:43to be real with you just
- 31:44because I'm not where I
- 31:45like want to be yet.
- 31:47You know,
- 31:47and I know it's going to take
- 31:48probably nine more months
- 31:50to where I'm like back to
- 31:51like 2023 Allison.
- 31:51Yeah.
- 31:55But I have to remember that
- 31:57I've been in this situation before.
- 31:58So like before I became a master's athlete,
- 32:01I had the opportunity to do
- 32:02some sanctionals and to do
- 32:03things like the Mayhem Classic,
- 32:06some big competitions like that,
- 32:07where I was in a heat with Tia,
- 32:09Christy Aramo, Daniel Brandon,
- 32:12Fisa Goffey, all in one heat one day.
- 32:14And I was in that last heat on Sunday.
- 32:17And, and so I have to remind myself like,
- 32:20Hey, you've done this before.
- 32:21Like, and yeah,
- 32:23you can, you can go do it again.
- 32:25And not that I'm going to go out there.
- 32:26I'm not trying to say I'm
- 32:27going to go out there and
- 32:28crush everybody and win.
- 32:30Like I'm, I'm not,
- 32:31but just to enjoy the experience.
- 32:33And like some of these girls, I do know,
- 32:35cause I've competed with them.
- 32:36Like Haley and I have,
- 32:37have done several
- 32:38competitions together and, you know,
- 32:40she's a newish mom as well.
- 32:42And so her and I talk sometimes, um,
- 32:46And I have all the respect for her.
- 32:48And, um, even like Jamie Higia,
- 32:50we've talked very briefly
- 32:51on Instagram and like,
- 32:53I have all the respect for her.
- 32:54Um, I don't really know, like Kelly,
- 32:56I mean, Andrea, Andrea Neisler,
- 32:58is that how you say it?
- 33:00Neisler?
- 33:00I'm not saying your name right.
- 33:01But I mean, how do you, you know,
- 33:03how do you not have respect
- 33:04for somebody like that?
- 33:05Especially how newly postpartum she is.
- 33:08She's newer than you.
- 33:10And like,
- 33:10Yes.
- 33:11Crazy.
- 33:12I feel like she gave birth
- 33:13in like March and then was,
- 33:15did that open workout with
- 33:16bar muscle ups or yeah.
- 33:18So yeah, super insane.
- 33:20Um, and I mean, that's awesome.
- 33:22And so just to get to go and,
- 33:24and share these experiences with,
- 33:26with these women,
- 33:27as well as some women who, um,
- 33:29when I did some masters
- 33:30cops pre pregnancy that I
- 33:32got to connect with like Amy Morton, um,
- 33:35you know, just,
- 33:35just some really great powerhouses who,
- 33:39you know, so it's just,
- 33:39it's an honor to be out there with them.
- 33:42And I'm a little intimidated, like I said,
- 33:44um,
- 33:45but I have to just keep reminding
- 33:46myself like, Hey, you've,
- 33:48you've been here.
- 33:48You're not like, I am a rookie,
- 33:50but at the same time, I,
- 33:52I feel like I could
- 33:53consider myself to be a
- 33:59so do you think that the
- 34:01masters games being
- 34:02separate from the elite is good or bad
- 34:07I think it's bad personally.
- 34:09But, hey,
- 34:10we won't know till this year when
- 34:12we get to be the testers for it.
- 34:14You know,
- 34:14I will say when they first announced it,
- 34:17I knew it was coming.
- 34:18I had a feeling it was coming,
- 34:19but I was a little bummed because,
- 34:24like I said,
- 34:24there's still part of me that
- 34:25stings a little bit.
- 34:26Last year,
- 34:27I was so close to making the
- 34:29games and then.
- 34:30got pregnant and then got 16th at semi.
- 34:32So I missed out and probably
- 34:34wouldn't have been able to go anyways,
- 34:35because I would have been
- 34:35like seven months pregnant for the games.
- 34:37But like, I just, I don't know.
- 34:40There's something about that
- 34:41that still stings that I
- 34:42didn't get to go to like Madison or this,
- 34:45you know,
- 34:45this year would have been in
- 34:46Fort Worth and get to be a
- 34:48part of that whole
- 34:49experience that stings.
- 34:52But all I can do is just
- 34:53hope that this is a good
- 34:55move and that they're going to make it,
- 34:57bigger and better and
- 34:58they're going to give the
- 34:59masters the coverage that
- 35:01they deserve and
- 35:03You know, so far, I don't really know.
- 35:05I don't know.
- 35:06It seems like CrossFit has been,
- 35:07to be honest,
- 35:09it seems like CrossFit kind
- 35:10of just passed it off and
- 35:11it's just kind of like
- 35:13y'all figure it out.
- 35:15So the Legends competition I
- 35:17did at Mayhem last year was top notch.
- 35:20And so I know those guys
- 35:22really know what they're doing.
- 35:24And so hopefully it'll be
- 35:25it'll be a lot of fun.
- 35:26So.
- 35:27But I don't love it.
- 35:29I wish it could have been, you know,
- 35:31at the games.
- 35:32But I also know they can't
- 35:32take 40 people in every division to,
- 35:35you know, the main CrossFit games either.
- 35:37So I'm very thankful because
- 35:39I wouldn't be there if it was just 10.
- 35:40So, yeah.
- 35:41Yeah.
- 35:42I think it's, yeah, I don't know.
- 35:46I think initially I thought it was bad.
- 35:48I think that it could be good.
- 35:50It's all, it's all dependent on how,
- 35:53how they do it.
- 35:54Right.
- 35:54Right.
- 35:55If you get there and they
- 35:56make you feel like a rock
- 35:56star and you get like a
- 35:58cool kit and all that stuff,
- 36:00I think like that will heal some wounds.
- 36:03For sure.
- 36:03Yep.
- 36:05Um, there's a lot of people ready to see.
- 36:07So yeah.
- 36:08Yeah.
- 36:09Yeah.
- 36:10Uh,
- 36:12Who's going to Birmingham with you?
- 36:14So my coach is going to go
- 36:15when I go on Wednesday.
- 36:16We'll probably just,
- 36:18cause it's like a four hour drive,
- 36:20which is so nice from, from Anderson,
- 36:22South Carolina.
- 36:24So we'll go Wednesday.
- 36:26And then my husband with
- 36:27work and everything, I think it's,
- 36:30He's still trying to figure it out,
- 36:31but he may not be able to go till Friday.
- 36:33So so he'll go Friday.
- 36:36We are debating on bringing our son,
- 36:39which that's on him.
- 36:40So I'm like, hey,
- 36:41I even mentioned trying to
- 36:43get a different hotel room
- 36:44and bringing him.
- 36:44But I was like, no, it will be fine.
- 36:47He can obviously be and
- 36:48it'll be it'll be great.
- 36:49So our son, he's three.
- 36:50He just turned three.
- 36:51He'll be he'll be there, I think.
- 36:53And then we actually have a
- 36:55handful of people from our
- 36:56gym that are going to go as well.
- 36:57So probably like six or
- 36:59eight that have already
- 37:00committed with like hotel
- 37:01rooms or Airbnbs.
- 37:02And then there's some other
- 37:03people on the fence that
- 37:04have like said they're going to go.
- 37:07But I think still trying to
- 37:08find some like somewhere to stay.
- 37:10So.
- 37:11So, yeah.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:12I love that people are
- 37:13committing from your gym to go.
- 37:15Yes.
- 37:15I think that's going to be a
- 37:17big tell as to how this
- 37:19separation is going to go.
- 37:20For sure.
- 37:21Yeah.
- 37:21If people come and support
- 37:23and there's a good crowd there,
- 37:24then that's only going to
- 37:25make it get bigger.
- 37:26Yes.
- 37:27I hope so.
- 37:28And it's meant so much to me.
- 37:29People like they'll text me
- 37:30their tickets that they got
- 37:31and they're like, Hey, we're in,
- 37:33we'll be there.
- 37:34And
- 37:35We have some,
- 37:35so we're right by Clemson
- 37:37University and I'm a Georgia fan,
- 37:39but that weekend, you know,
- 37:41football starts, college football,
- 37:42and that's big here.
- 37:43And so I think some people
- 37:45are going to go to the
- 37:46games or they've mentioned
- 37:47it and then go into Atlanta,
- 37:48which is a quick, you know,
- 37:50hour and a half, two hour drive,
- 37:52I think from Birmingham and
- 37:53then go to the Georgia
- 37:55Clemson game that night.
- 37:59So I think people are trying
- 38:00to make like a whole weekend of it.
- 38:01So, so yeah.
- 38:03Just,
- 38:04just have figured out and have a
- 38:05tailgate party in the parking lot.
- 38:06Right.
- 38:07That would be fun.
- 38:07I'm all for that.
- 38:08So for the day, go out, eat on a barbecue.
- 38:13Yes.
- 38:14I do better.
- 38:15And that those situations,
- 38:16then just going back to the
- 38:17hotel and just sitting there and,
- 38:19you know, being in my thoughts anyways.
- 38:22So Bob and Joe,
- 38:24that's how you make this
- 38:25thing a festival and a fun thing.
- 38:27College football opens up,
- 38:28get some big screen TVs in
- 38:30the parking lot.
- 38:31People barbecue.
- 38:32Yeah.
- 38:33you're onto something.
- 38:34So being in Alabama, I mean, that's,
- 38:37you know,
- 38:39you're down South college football.
- 38:40So, yeah.
- 38:42So, yeah.
- 38:44So my last question for you
- 38:46about the games is you're, you came in,
- 38:49you were the last person in the door.
- 38:51Yes.
- 38:52So it's all up from here.
- 38:54Right.
- 38:55How do you,
- 38:56how do you view that and what
- 38:58will be success?
- 39:00Yeah.
- 39:01So like I said,
- 39:01it's only up from here and I will say.
- 39:05Go dogs.
- 39:06Oh, go dogs.
- 39:06Yes.
- 39:07Go dogs.
- 39:09So, and like I said,
- 39:10Haley and I have talked
- 39:11about this cause we
- 39:12technically were both the last,
- 39:13the last ones to be let in.
- 39:15And we were, I even told her, I was like,
- 39:17well,
- 39:17only up from here, you know,
- 39:19but it honestly,
- 39:21it kind of takes some pressure off.
- 39:22Um, I'll be honest when I went to legends,
- 39:24like legends is a great
- 39:25example and masters fitness collective,
- 39:28both like the year before I
- 39:29actually placed first in the qualifier,
- 39:33I think if I'm remembering correctly.
- 39:35So when I went, it was like,
- 39:37I felt the pressure.
- 39:38Like I was like, you know,
- 39:40I feel like I have to win now.
- 39:42And it really,
- 39:43sometimes feeling that
- 39:44pressure makes me like not perform great.
- 39:47Um,
- 39:48Um,
- 39:49so it's kind of nice now to just to be
- 39:51like, Hey, you know what, like you said,
- 39:52only up from here and I'm
- 39:54going to go and just showcase what I got.
- 39:56And, um, I firmly believe too,
- 39:59that people like,
- 40:01they're going to forget where you placed.
- 40:03I even forget where I placed
- 40:04in competitions, but like,
- 40:06they're going to forget that,
- 40:06but they're going to always
- 40:07remember like how you carry yourself.
- 40:10They're going to remember, you know,
- 40:11what you stand for.
- 40:12They're gonna remember how you act on the,
- 40:14on the field, um, or the,
- 40:16whatever, you know?
- 40:17Um, and, and so I,
- 40:20I feel like that in life I've,
- 40:22I've had just like a lot of people,
- 40:23I've had a lot of hardships
- 40:25within CrossFit and, um,
- 40:27had to overcome a lot.
- 40:28And hopefully people just
- 40:30kind of remember me as that and not like,
- 40:33Oh, she's the girl that, you know,
- 40:34got 13th place, you know, or whatever,
- 40:37who knows what it will be.
- 40:38But, um, so yeah.
- 40:40Yeah.
- 40:41Well, when I think about you, as I said,
- 40:43at the top of the show is
- 40:45it's not where you've placed in anything.
- 40:46It's that you are the
- 40:47sweetest person I've ever met at the,
- 40:50through CrossFit.
- 40:52You hold yourself so well.
- 40:56And you should be proud of that.
- 40:58Thanks.
- 40:59I try, but I, I think those closest to me,
- 41:01hopefully they would agree.
- 41:03I have some moments.
- 41:05So, so yes, as we all do, but yeah.
- 41:08Well,
- 41:09as I told you before we got in the air,
- 41:11we got full approval for
- 41:12full access at the CrossFit
- 41:15Games Masters.
- 41:17And we're going to do a full
- 41:17behind the scenes.
- 41:19So, you know,
- 41:20I'm going to come talk to you
- 41:21at some point.
- 41:22Okay.
- 41:22I would love that.
- 41:23backstage and, uh,
- 41:25and we'll just get you in
- 41:27your natural habitat and, uh,
- 41:29hopefully you do well and
- 41:30we'll be there rooting for you.
- 41:31Of course.
- 41:32I love that.
- 41:32Thank you.
- 41:33I think you'll get some good content.
- 41:34I just, all these masters comps,
- 41:36at least the ones that I've
- 41:37done with like the girls,
- 41:38it's like everybody's just
- 41:39talking about their families and, um,
- 41:41you know, maybe their job, their family,
- 41:43their kids,
- 41:44like we're all in the like
- 41:45corral talking about that.
- 41:46And then you go out there and you,
- 41:47you know, kind of focus, but it's just,
- 41:50I think you'll get some good,
- 41:51some good content from people.
- 41:53And I think that's what I
- 41:54want to highlight is the friendships,
- 41:57the camaraderie, the, that you,
- 42:00you all had, like that you,
- 42:02how many people are postpartum, like in,
- 42:04within a year in your division,
- 42:06then you have, like,
- 42:07I've been talking to Kenzie Riley.
- 42:08She's got a couple of years.
- 42:10She's another one.
- 42:11Yeah.
- 42:11All the respect for her.
- 42:12So like all of you are
- 42:14sharing the same stuff and
- 42:17that's what I want to capture.
- 42:18Like how it's a true
- 42:20community at a master's event.
- 42:22For sure.
- 42:24I'm not there to show who
- 42:27won and who lost.
- 42:28I want to show how you all
- 42:31hang out together and you
- 42:32communicate and you support
- 42:34one another in life,
- 42:36not just on the competition floor.
- 42:38That's awesome.
- 42:39Well, I know you'll do a great job.
- 42:42So, yeah.
- 42:43Well, thank you very much, Allison.
- 42:45Yes.
- 42:45Thank you to everybody in the chat.
- 42:47This has been awesome.
- 42:48We're going to keep doing
- 42:49this all the way up to the
- 42:50Masters CrossFit Games.
- 42:51And Allison, it's the beginning of this.
- 42:53Yes.
- 42:54A huge honor.
- 42:55And I can't wait to watch
- 42:56the other ones too.
- 42:58Come back in 20 minutes and
- 43:00we'll be with Ryan Redkey.
- 43:03Quick fact about him.
- 43:05He is going to the CrossFit
- 43:06Games for the second time,
- 43:08but he also won Fear Factor.
- 43:10Oh, cool.
- 43:12The backstories with Masters
- 43:13athletes are so much cooler
- 43:15than the elite athletes.
- 43:17Right.
- 43:19Yes.
- 43:21We will see everybody next
- 43:23time on the Clydesdale Media Podcast.
- 43:26Bye, guys.
