- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Pittsburgh, it's Pat from Tarpsoft Radio. Viewer discretion is advised,
- 0:05Speaker 1: and thanks for tuning in.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Sometimes we're drunk.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Sometimes we're stoned.
- 0:37Speaker 3: We're your Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Home.
- 0:44Speaker 3: It is time to take your tarps off, Pittsburgh. It's
- 0:46Speaker 3: your formerly Tuesday, now Wednesday morning, 8 a.m. spot on
- 0:49Speaker 3: Tarps Off Radio. I am your host, McGingey. Beside me
- 0:52Speaker 3: is your co-host, Pat, intern producer, Dubree. Still behind the
- 0:55Speaker 3: boards for us. Haven't been cut yet. But cuts have
- 0:58Speaker 3: been made. Dreams have come true. Questions still need answered.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Majority of today's show will be centered around the 53-man roster.
- 1:05Speaker 3: But first, Pat, tell me how you're doing. What you're drinking?
- 1:09Speaker 1: I Costanza'd the hot dog man, McGingy. That's not a metaphor.
- 1:13Speaker 2: What, did you tell him no hot dogs for you?
- 1:17Speaker 2: What are you talking about here?
- 1:18Speaker 4: I went to get a hot dog as part of
- 1:21Speaker 4: a nice dinner after work today.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You know, the hot dog guy.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Natural casings, shout out natural casings up in Mount Washington.
- 1:28Speaker 4: And I had some cash on me from the weekend,
- 1:32Speaker 4: you know, going to some cash only bars. And I
- 1:34Speaker 4: figured I'll throw some cash away, make it a free dinner,
- 1:37Speaker 4: you know. And I reached into my wallet. The hot
- 1:41Speaker 4: dog was $ 4. It was like $ 4. 89 or something with tax.
- 1:46Speaker 4: And I gave him a 10. Thought I gave him
- 1:48Speaker 4: a 5. So I gave him a 10. I said, oh,
- 1:51Speaker 4: you keep it. Cause I didn't want to deal with
- 1:52Speaker 4: the change, you know? And then I walk out to
- 1:54Speaker 4: my car. I'm like, fuck dude, I gave him a 10.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So I turned around, I walked back in.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I was like, wait, did I give you a 10?
- 2:02Speaker 1: He said, yeah. I said, give me $ 4 back.
- 2:05Speaker 2: No, you did it. That's crazy, dude. That's not even
- 2:09Speaker 2: a Constanza.
- 2:11Speaker 5: That's a Constanza.
- 2:12Speaker 2: You ever seen that?
- 2:14Speaker 4: He pays the bill and then he, Reaches back and
- 2:17Speaker 4: grabs money from the tip.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I don't remember that episode.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I'm not paying $ 10 for a hot dog, McG.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Sounds like you already did. Sounds like you did pay.
- 2:27Speaker 5: $ 10 for a hot dog.
- 2:28Speaker 1: That's a loser's mentality.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And then you, I don't know.
- 2:32Speaker 5: You got to think you grew rich.
- 2:33Speaker 3: It's kind of a loser to walk back in and
- 2:34Speaker 3: take $ 5 off the small business owner.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You got to think you grew rich, McG.
- 2:39Speaker 2: No, you got to think about Brandon. This year is
- 2:43Speaker 2: about Brandon.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Hey, man.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I love Brandon.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Let's go, Brandon.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Listen to this, Pat. You ready?
- 2:52Speaker 5: All right. What do you got?
- 2:53Speaker 1: A cold iron?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Cold iron, baby. Cold iron.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's bourbon night at Pat's house. You know, Tuesdays.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It seems like you've had a lot of bourbon nights.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Lately, Pat.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, just getting the ass kicked at the
- 3:06Speaker 4: old ass kicking factory nine to five.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You know how it goes. Yeah.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Steelers put in a nice shift at the ass-kicking factory
- 3:16Speaker 3: this week. Took a tough loss to the Bills, 28-27.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Touchdown scored by Eli Heidenreich on a nine-yard run.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Who?
- 3:26Speaker 3: Eli Heidenreich on a nine-yard touchdown run. 13-yard touchdown from
- 3:31Speaker 3: Jeremy Bernard. What else was there? 45-yard punt return touchdown
- 3:36Speaker 3: by Swiffer Wetchap. Then a five-yard touchdown reception by Lake McCree.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Bill's scores were Frank Gore Jr., Skyler Bell, and the
- 3:43Speaker 3: game winner from Elan Wheeler with a two-point conversion there.
- 3:48Speaker 2: They looked okay, Pat.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I think my one takeaway from this game is that
- 3:55Speaker 3: we have found our return man of the future.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You were down him.
- 4:01Speaker 3: You were down him all preseason, Pat.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And he put on display exactly why we drafted him.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, he did exactly what he needed to do and.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I mean, shit, if he can do that once every
- 4:13Speaker 4: three games, then he'll have no problem being worth that
- 4:17Speaker 4: fourth-round pick we spent on him.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Once every three games, Pat?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Do you want him to have five return touchdowns this year?
- 4:22Speaker 4: No, I'm saying three preseason games, and he'd return one
- 4:26Speaker 4: for a touchdown.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm making a joke. I'm saying if he could stretch
- 4:30Speaker 1: this average out, I'd be pretty happy.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's going to end up with two
- 4:35Speaker 3: or three return touchdowns in the regular season this year.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Sure.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be great. And he's been kind of
- 4:42Speaker 1: boom or bust, and we could.
- 4:44Speaker 4: See this change, especially with better play from the special
- 4:47Speaker 4: teams around him, right?
- 4:48Speaker 2: They've been terrible.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, not the best blocking.
- 4:51Speaker 4: So, you know, hopefully round out his average a little bit,
- 4:55Speaker 4: because you take out that one, and that's a big play, obviously,
- 4:59Speaker 4: you know, but you take out that touchdown return, and
- 5:01Speaker 4: he's been pretty poor, you know, average return-wise, but If
- 5:07Speaker 4: he can bring three, four punts to the house, that's okay.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's just something to make note of.
- 5:12Speaker 2: That's okay, Pat. That's great. It's more than okay.
- 5:15Speaker 1: No, I'm saying it's okay.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Him being one of the lower average yards per return
- 5:20Speaker 4: would be okay if he could bring three or four
- 5:22Speaker 4: punts to the house.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still not liking what I'm seeing out of
- 5:26Speaker 3: our special teams unit as a whole. Obviously, McCarthy put
- 5:31Speaker 3: an emphasis on that when dealing with a 53-man roster,
- 5:34Speaker 3: and we'll talk about that. for the majority of the
- 5:36Speaker 3: episode today once we get through this Bills game. But
- 5:41Speaker 3: it seems like the Bills had a pretty bad punt
- 5:45Speaker 3: unit all day. First two touchdowns, the one scored by Jeremy,
- 5:51Speaker 3: the next one scored by Lake McCree, both thrown from
- 5:53Speaker 3: Will Howard.
- 5:54Speaker 2: He had, what, maybe 30, 40-yard drives?
- 5:58Speaker 1: I was just going to say.
- 5:59Speaker 4: I mean, he finished total 9 for 15 with an interception,
- 6:03Speaker 4: two touchdowns, and– 69 yards.
- 6:06Speaker 1: But he got bailed out.
- 6:07Speaker 4: I mean, the box score, you know, two touchdowns, 9
- 6:11Speaker 4: for 15. Box score looks a lot better given the
- 6:15Speaker 4: starting field position. That first drive he went on was
- 6:19Speaker 4: pretty brutal. And then, you know, the two muffed or
- 6:22Speaker 4: two botched punts there, good field position.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So really kind of bailed him out.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, even the punt return touchdown by Swiffer was only
- 6:30Speaker 3: 45 yards.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yep.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. Yes, it was.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah, it was tough showing from the Bills team.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Other than that, I thought the Bills actually looked pretty good.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Frank Gore Jr.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Looked solid.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Skyler Bell, it was a big, that return was big
- 6:45Speaker 4: for Weejan too, just on like the kind of, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 4: mirror to mirror, the comparison that I think a lot
- 6:54Speaker 4: of Steelers fans were kind of giving him to Skyler Bell.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Because Skyler Bell picked, what, four picks after Weejan, kind
- 7:00Speaker 4: of staring the Steelers right in the eyes as, Someone
- 7:03Speaker 4: who can return kicks, not the hopefully elite level like
- 7:08Speaker 4: we expect to see out of Weegean, but someone who
- 7:11Speaker 4: is just a better receiver. So I think, I mean,
- 7:14Speaker 4: I know there are a lot of folks, myself included
- 7:16Speaker 4: at the time, who would have rather had Skyler Bell.
- 7:19Speaker 4: So to see Weegean return that to the house after
- 7:22Speaker 4: Bell had a touchdown and nearly 50 yards receiving was great.
- 7:27Speaker 4: It felt good to see Weegean do that.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Yeah, a couple of negative things about the game, Pat. Obviously,
- 7:36Speaker 3: Drew Allard not being able to lead the team to
- 7:38Speaker 3: a win at the end. I thought that was a negative.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Well, let's hang on that for a second. I didn't
- 7:45Speaker 4: put that really on Drew Allard at all. There were
- 7:49Speaker 4: a couple of drops there.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I mean, he had two bad passes, and I think
- 7:55Speaker 3: there were two drops on the five plays he ran
- 7:57Speaker 3: on that fourth quarter drive.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I mean, they weren't great passes.
- 8:02Speaker 2: To no one. And absolutely.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And let's be honest, the, you know, the narrative around
- 8:08Speaker 3: drew Aller is that he's not going to win those games.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I've never seen him win a game.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Never.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I don't disagree.
- 8:16Speaker 2: He didn't win one game at Penn state.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I don't disagree at all. And, you know, we can
- 8:22Speaker 4: make excuses. They were not perfect balls. Excuse me. I
- 8:26Speaker 4: think the first two, that fourth down throw was horrible.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I think the first two could have been caught. At
- 8:34Speaker 4: the end of the day, though, you're right. Even our
- 8:36Speaker 4: boy Kenny Pickett, he would have won that game, no
- 8:41Speaker 4: doubt about it.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Kenny Pickett's first game at Heinz Field as a Pittsburgh Steeler,
- 8:45Speaker 3: he led a fourth-quarter, two-minute drive comeback against the Seattle Seahawks.
- 8:52Speaker 4: And he probably wasn't doing much better at that point
- 8:55Speaker 4: in the game yardage-wise.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Than Drew Aller was. I remember he was.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Drew Aller finishing nine for 18 as well.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I think this was the first week where I saw
- 9:07Speaker 3: Drew Aller for how Penn State fans saw Drew Aller.
- 9:12Speaker 3: And I don't want to make a mountain out of
- 9:14Speaker 3: a molehill in preseason, but he was also staring down
- 9:20Speaker 3: his first read quite a lot, not going through his progressions,
- 9:23Speaker 3: which is something that I thought Will Howard's done a
- 9:25Speaker 3: good job of for three games now.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Even if Will Howard's still making mistakes, Pat. But I
- 9:31Speaker 2: still think that Drew Aller has a long way to go,
- 9:35Speaker 2: and it's all mental.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and consistency is the big word for Drew Aller.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I mean, he's got the talent. It's just, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 4: and I was trying to allude to this after watching
- 9:48Speaker 4: him in camp, and I think his first preseason game
- 9:52Speaker 4: in particular gave folks a lot of the wrong ideas
- 9:55Speaker 4: But you're going to see drives that, until he really
- 10:00Speaker 4: gets confident and gets consistency down, you're going to see
- 10:03Speaker 4: drive-killing layup throws that are misses from Drew Aller. You're
- 10:08Speaker 4: going to see that 5-10 yard ball from Drew Aller,
- 10:13Speaker 4: third down, you need to pick a few up, just
- 10:15Speaker 4: sails it. You know, we're second and 10. You're throwing
- 10:18Speaker 4: the ball. He sails it. Now you're in third and long.
- 10:20Speaker 4: So it's those little plays and those inconsistencies that are
- 10:24Speaker 4: going to add up for him.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And good news, Pat. We don't have to watch him
- 10:28Speaker 2: play football for another calendar year.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Well, hopefully. Knock on wood.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Knock on wood. Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 3: I mean, if we're seeing our fourth string quarterback take
- 10:35Speaker 3: any snaps this year, if we're seeing, man, let's just,
- 10:38Speaker 3: I mean, if we're seeing Will Howard, Mason Rudolph, or
- 10:40Speaker 3: Drew Aller take snaps this year, we're done.
- 10:44Speaker 1: This is more of a tangent, a hypothetical. But let's
- 10:49Speaker 1: say two, three weeks into the season.
- 10:50Speaker 4: God forbid, our first two quarterbacks go down and Will
- 10:55Speaker 4: Howard is healthy. He might go to IR with the concussion.
- 10:58Speaker 4: We still don't know. But do you think it would
- 11:00Speaker 4: automatically be Will Howard or Drew Aller? Is Drew Aller
- 11:04Speaker 4: really the fourth quarterback of the depth chart, like truly
- 11:06Speaker 4: right now?
- 11:07Speaker 2: That's a great question. And I don't have the answer.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I mean, realistically, who knows?
- 11:11Speaker 3: I think if you were to ask me, I probably
- 11:15Speaker 3: give Will Howard a shot first just because of what
- 11:18Speaker 3: he showed from a mental side of the game. I
- 11:21Speaker 3: still think Drew Aller has a lot to learn on
- 11:23Speaker 3: the mental aspect of the position.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Because I liked how Howard moved through his reads. I
- 11:30Speaker 3: liked how he looked in a pocket. This is an
- 11:33Speaker 3: interception this week as well. Three interceptions in the preseason.
- 11:37Speaker 3: That might have been the third one that was on
- 11:39Speaker 3: the wide receivers. We won't know for sure. We won't
- 11:42Speaker 3: know for sure. And he threw it into triple coverage.
- 11:45Speaker 3: So even if the receiver ran the right route, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 3: it's probably still not a good decision. But you could
- 11:52Speaker 3: be looking at three interceptions and all three of.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Them be blamed on the wide receiver.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Who do you think had a better preseason, Drew Aller
- 11:59Speaker 1: or Will Howard?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Probably Drew Aller.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I don't think it's as close.
- 12:07Speaker 3: If you had to ask me, like, did they have
- 12:11Speaker 3: good preseasons? I would probably say no. I don't think
- 12:16Speaker 3: either of them really, after watching all three games and
- 12:20Speaker 3: putting all three games on tape, they looked really good
- 12:23Speaker 3: in game one against Green Bay. All three of our
- 12:27Speaker 3: quarterbacks that played that game looked really good. Now, after
- 12:31Speaker 3: looking at their full body of work, I don't know.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I don't think Will Howard and Drew Aller had great preseasons.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Sure.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I think Drew Aller was just about what I expected, right?
- 12:45Speaker 4: I mean, he moved to– I'll tell you what I
- 12:47Speaker 4: was most impressed with Will Howard about is how he
- 12:49Speaker 4: moved around the pocket, right?
- 12:51Speaker 1: I mean, he was stepping up. He was moving out.
- 12:53Speaker 1: He knew when to get out of the pocket.
- 12:55Speaker 4: There were times Will Howard looked a little lost in
- 12:58Speaker 4: the pocket.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Who are you talking about here? You said Will Howard
- 13:02Speaker 2: a few times.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm saying, sorry, this might happen a lot.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Yeah. Drew Allard looked great in the pocket. He was
- 13:09Speaker 4: moving around well. He was stepping up when he had to.
- 13:12Speaker 4: He would get out of the pocket, scramble, make throws.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I didn't think Will Howard had command of the pocket
- 13:17Speaker 4: as well as Drew Allard.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I thought the opposite. I thought Will Howard stayed in there,
- 13:22Speaker 3: took some shots. I thought he looked more confident. I
- 13:27Speaker 3: thought he went through his progressions a little bit better
- 13:30Speaker 3: and actually was hitting the third and fourth read on
- 13:32Speaker 3: his progressions. Drew Allard was– The more I watched Drew Aller,
- 13:36Speaker 3: it seemed like he was staring down the first target.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And if it worked, it worked. If not, he was screwed.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, there were certainly some plays I thought
- 13:44Speaker 4: Will Howard, too, could have used his eyes a little better, right?
- 13:49Speaker 4: And that's probably really one of the biggest things that
- 13:52Speaker 4: comes with NFL experience, right, is moving players off. I mean,
- 13:56Speaker 4: there was that interception he threw to Roman Wilson, the
- 14:00Speaker 4: first one of week two.
- 14:02Speaker 1: When Roman Wilson was breaking towards the end zone.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I mean, my first comment on that was, well, apart
- 14:08Speaker 4: from Roman Wilson, you know, clearly not finishing the route correctly.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Will Howard lobs it over top. That's a touchdown.
- 14:16Speaker 4: He throws it to the back of the end zone.
- 14:17Speaker 4: That's likely a touchdown. But also he didn't really use
- 14:20Speaker 4: his eyes. I mean, I thought he was staring Roman
- 14:22Speaker 4: Wilson down. I thought it was pretty obvious where he's going.
- 14:25Speaker 4: You know, you move your eyes around and all of
- 14:27Speaker 4: a sudden Roman Wilson is is a little more open.
- 14:30Speaker 2: There, right?
- 14:30Speaker 1: Move some, move some safeties around. So those are my
- 14:34Speaker 1: initial thoughts. Doobie, what do you think?
- 14:36Speaker 4: Who had a better, who had a better preseason and
- 14:39Speaker 4: how did you feel about both quarterbacks moving around in
- 14:41Speaker 4: the pocket in particular?
- 14:43Speaker 7: I think it's really close, honestly. I think they both
- 14:47Speaker 7: didn't have a great preseason. I kind of agree with Austin.
- 14:53Speaker 7: I think Howard was better in the pocket, but Aller
- 14:57Speaker 7: was a little bit more dynamic, made some crazy plays,
- 15:02Speaker 7: that one real long off-balance throw down the field that
- 15:05Speaker 7: he made.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So that's where I stand on him.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just not seeing the upside with Will Howard.
- 15:13Speaker 4: And honestly, listen, if it was up to me, we
- 15:15Speaker 4: can get into this in a minute here, but I
- 15:18Speaker 4: wouldn't have kept all four quarterbacks.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I wouldn't have kept Will Howard on the team.
- 15:23Speaker 4: I don't see a whole lot of upside with him,
- 15:24Speaker 4: unlike Drew Aller, which– His arm talent and even a
- 15:28Speaker 4: little bit of his legs were kind of on display
- 15:31Speaker 4: in the preseason.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I'm out on both of them.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I'm out on both of them, and unfortunately, I think
- 15:38Speaker 3: we're going to see Drew Allard be our quarterback in 2027.
- 15:40Speaker 3: But realistically, we need a guy who goes in there
- 15:46Speaker 3: and wins football games. We saw that with Kenny Pickett
- 15:51Speaker 3: where– We saw the good, bad, the ugly with him,
- 15:54Speaker 3: but at the end of the day, he went out
- 15:55Speaker 3: there and he won games in the second half in
- 15:57Speaker 3: the fourth quarter. If you can combine that type of
- 16:01Speaker 3: winning mentality with Drew Aller's talent, that's a dangerous quarterback.
- 16:08Speaker 2: But like I said with Roman Wilson, I'm out until
- 16:12Speaker 2: they show me something. So I'm out. I'm out on
- 16:15Speaker 2: our quarterbacks, not named Aaron Rodgers.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I know that we typically– Don't like to be too–
- 16:23Speaker 4: what's the word I'm looking for? We don't like to
- 16:25Speaker 4: dish out too much praise in Steelers' losses, but were
- 16:29Speaker 4: there any studs you identified this week, McGingey?
- 16:32Speaker 2: I had two. I had Swiffer Wetjet and Eli Heiderich.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Eli definitely put on for the team, put on for
- 16:41Speaker 3: the roster spot, ran hard, fought for extra yards, made
- 16:45Speaker 3: the opening tackle. of the game on the special teams,
- 16:49Speaker 3: he was actually working in as the personal protector man
- 16:53Speaker 3: towards the end of the game as well, which.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Had been Travis Homer's job. So Eli played a great game.
- 16:58Speaker 3: He definitely showed coaches what, you know, it took, you know,
- 17:03Speaker 3: what they wanted to see for him to make the roster.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 4: I mean, he made, he made the, not that his
- 17:09Speaker 4: whole body of work has been uninspiring, but He made
- 17:12Speaker 4: the 53 man in the game against Buffalo. Once you
- 17:16Speaker 4: ease concerns about the personal protector, right, which had gone
- 17:20Speaker 4: to Travis Homer exclusively, and then you score a touchdown,
- 17:24Speaker 4: you look good out there too. I mean, this was
- 17:26Speaker 4: the first time I had watched Heidenreich where he looked
- 17:29Speaker 4: like a running back. You know, he didn't look like
- 17:31Speaker 4: a wide receiver that we were trying to flip to
- 17:33Speaker 4: running back. Like he was moving well.
- 17:36Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 2: He was also playing against a whole bunch of players
- 17:38Speaker 2: who didn't make the roster.
- 17:39Speaker 1: No, I mean, absolutely. But he didn't look awkward. He
- 17:43Speaker 1: looked like he blogged out there.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I got a big stiff for this week.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Well, hold on.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I got another stud. This is a surprise. A man
- 17:55Speaker 1: who's not even on the team anymore. He looked like
- 17:59Speaker 1: a varsity player play against a bunch of eighth graders.
- 18:04Speaker 1: A Landon Roberts.
- 18:06Speaker 4: It was just all over the field. He had five tackles,
- 18:09Speaker 4: four solo tackles, a tackle for loss. And just watching
- 18:13Speaker 4: him play against a bunch of scrubs was like, I remember,
- 18:16Speaker 4: why is he still in the game?
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm thinking, you know.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Remember when I told you when you asked me that?
- 18:22Speaker 8: Is that?
- 18:23Speaker 4: Well, he also said Roman Wilson likely wasn't making the
- 18:26Speaker 4: team because he didn't dress.
- 18:27Speaker 1: So let's relax.
- 18:28Speaker 3: I said it was potential cut candidate as what is
- 18:32Speaker 3: my word specifically.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Yep.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He said, if you're not playing or if you're playing
- 18:37Speaker 2: the entire game, you are a potential cut candidate.
- 18:40Speaker 4: And I said, no way the Steelers could be so
- 18:43Speaker 4: fucking stupid as to not put Lennon Roberts on a
- 18:48Speaker 4: 53-man roster.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Yeah, he looks good.
- 18:50Speaker 3: And I think that's a good way of putting a
- 18:52Speaker 3: varsity player in a JV game because that's exactly what
- 18:55Speaker 3: he looked like.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll have more to say about that later.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Can I move on to the stiffs? Yeah, who's stiff?
- 19:03Speaker 3: WTAE, one of the worst broadcasts I've ever watched in
- 19:08Speaker 3: my entire life. We missed three touchdowns, two by the Steelers,
- 19:13Speaker 3: one by the Bills. At one point, they're showing the
- 19:16Speaker 3: announcers eating chicken wings in the studio. And there's a
- 19:20Speaker 3: game going on. And we're watching film of the announcers
- 19:24Speaker 3: eating the chicken wings. It was embarrassing, Pat. For a
- 19:27Speaker 3: local broadcast who you think they'd like to show what
- 19:31Speaker 3: they're capable of and kind of get excited for this,
- 19:34Speaker 3: they were on their B, C, D, none of those,
- 19:38Speaker 3: the F game. It was one of the worst broadcasts
- 19:41Speaker 3: I've ever seen in my entire life, if not the worst.
- 19:45Speaker 1: You know who I blame?
- 19:48Speaker 4: Who?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Jimmy Kimmel. Don't answer, Doobie.
- 19:51Speaker 4: I blame the Buffalo Bills. I mean, they got this
- 19:54Speaker 4: new stadium. It was the second broadcast. I'm sure they're
- 19:57Speaker 4: still figuring shit out. I've heard people who were from
- 19:59Speaker 4: out of town who were watching the game said that
- 20:02Speaker 4: they were watching the Buffalo broadcast, and apparently it was
- 20:05Speaker 4: even worse.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Like, they saw less of the game than we did.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So... How is that on the Bills, Pat?
- 20:12Speaker 4: Because they got a new stadium, McGinji. They didn't have
- 20:15Speaker 4: it figured out. They weren't ready. They're ironing the kinks out.
- 20:18Speaker 4: They don't know how to fucking broadcast in that stadium yet.
- 20:21Speaker 2: They should have been ready. That's no excuse.
- 20:23Speaker 3: That's no excuse for Pittsburgh's local broadcast to be missing touchdowns.
- 20:29Speaker 5: I know.
- 20:30Speaker 4: It's bullshit that that even has to get brought up.
- 20:33Speaker 4: That the Bills don't have their shit figured out.
- 20:36Speaker 2: You're blaming the Bills Stadium.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Of course I'm blaming the... What are you, defending the Bills? No, no.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I'm just not being a homer for a shitty fucking broadcast.
- 20:47Speaker 5: I'm not being a homer for a shitty broadcast. I'm
- 20:49Speaker 5: piling on to a bunch of fucks in Buffalo.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited to not hear Pomp announce any football
- 20:56Speaker 2: games either, dude.
- 20:57Speaker 3: That guy, he's... I like Bob Pompiani, but my God.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Is he boring. Him and Charlie Batch, it's like listening
- 21:04Speaker 2: to paint dry.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Listening to paint dry.
- 21:09Speaker 2: You ever done that?
- 21:11Speaker 5: No.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Pretty fucking boring.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I've smelled paint drying. I've eaten dried paint chips.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Both great activities. You listen to it dry, bad. Anything
- 21:27Speaker 2: else you have to say about the game? I'm excited
- 21:30Speaker 2: preseason's over. Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited preseason.
- 21:34Speaker 2: This preseason was tough to judge.
- 21:36Speaker 4: It kind of sucked. That last game, dude, nobody played.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Like half the team didn't even travel, right? It was
- 21:43Speaker 4: just this last preseason game was just fucking weird. Like
- 21:46Speaker 4: I would have thought it would have been at least
- 21:48Speaker 4: a drive or two of like ramping guys up and
- 21:51Speaker 4: putting all the starters out. And, you know, even if
- 21:53Speaker 4: Rodgers wasn't out there, just getting some of these guys
- 21:56Speaker 4: some time on the field. But, no, they literally said,
- 21:59Speaker 4: you know, unless you're Landon Roberts, if you're over the
- 22:02Speaker 4: age of, you know, 30, grab some fucking pines.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I am officially worried about Steelers week one versus Atlanta.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I am too.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Big time.
- 22:14Speaker 2: They did not show.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Me anything of worth in this preseason to make me
- 22:18Speaker 3: think like they're ready to play.
- 22:20Speaker 4: And they have barely practiced running the ball, which means
- 22:24Speaker 4: the defense has barely practiced defending the run. And now
- 22:27Speaker 4: we're going to be without Deshaun Elliott for our first
- 22:29Speaker 4: four weeks. And who the fuck knows what's going on
- 22:31Speaker 4: with Landon Roberts, our best run-stopping linebacker. Bijon might run
- 22:36Speaker 4: for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
- 22:39Speaker 2: We'll see. We'll see, Pat. That would be kind of
- 22:43Speaker 2: tough on our home turf. Anything else about the game?
- 22:49Speaker 1: No, we can breeze past it.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Okay.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Let's move on to the 53-man roster. A lot of moves.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Pat, why don't we start out because there's trades being made.
- 23:01Speaker 3: There were cuts. There's a couple surprise makes it. Let's
- 23:03Speaker 3: start with the two trades. First, Broderick Jones being dealt
- 23:09Speaker 3: along with a fourth to the Cowboys for a third
- 23:13Speaker 3: and a sixth.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Pat, grade this trade.
- 23:19Speaker 4: It's tricky because in a vacuum, I think it was
- 23:22Speaker 4: good value like for right now for this snapshot of
- 23:26Speaker 4: time that we're in. Broderick recovering from an injury, kind
- 23:29Speaker 4: of looking like shit, not being in football shape, showing up,
- 23:32Speaker 4: taking some time to come back. I'd give it like
- 23:35Speaker 4: a B minus, maybe a C plus just because it's
- 23:38Speaker 4: good value. I wouldn't have made the trade. I would
- 23:41Speaker 4: have just kept Broderick, you know, as a swing tackle
- 23:43Speaker 4: this year. I don't think I was as high on
- 23:46Speaker 4: getting a third or fourth round comp pick as you were.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I think you kind of, and correct me if I'm wrong,
- 23:51Speaker 4: but it kind of seemed like you thought that would
- 23:53Speaker 4: be kind of set in stone and I was a
- 23:55Speaker 4: little bit more skeptical.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Well, Dan Moore Jr. got us a third round comp pick. Yeah, absolutely.
- 24:01Speaker 4: I would have rolled the dice, stuck with them this year,
- 24:03Speaker 4: because now we have, what, three tackles, three true tackles
- 24:07Speaker 4: on the roster at this point?
- 24:08Speaker 3: Yeah, similar to what we had last year, and now
- 24:11Speaker 3: our offensive line depth is no longer a strength. Having
- 24:14Speaker 3: said that, on the flip side, the tape that he
- 24:17Speaker 3: put out this preseason... It was bad.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Unplayable.
- 24:20Speaker 3: I mean, you might as well just pick up a
- 24:22Speaker 3: tackle off a free agency if you need a fourth tackle.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I don't think there was really any point in holding
- 24:28Speaker 3: on to Broderick Jones, showing what he showed us over
- 24:32Speaker 3: the three games of preseason.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Yeah, especially after drafting Ahonichor, where you have a project
- 24:38Speaker 4: tackle now, very similar to Broderick in the sense that
- 24:43Speaker 4: great build, hyper-athletic. I'd say even though they both played
- 24:48Speaker 4: not a whole lot of football at that level, Ahonichor
- 24:51Speaker 4: seems a little further along just because his footwork is
- 24:54Speaker 4: a lot better than, than Broderick's was, uh, his rookie year.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:58Speaker 4: So, um, I mean, bringing a Haunted Shore in, you just,
- 25:02Speaker 4: you don't have time for two first round tackle projects.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So send him to Dallas, let them try to work
- 25:08Speaker 1: with it. He's still a young man.
- 25:09Speaker 4: He's still got a great build, but I think the
- 25:12Speaker 4: Steelers are just kind of ready for this project to
- 25:14Speaker 4: be over.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you're talking like he's still a first-round project.
- 25:18Speaker 3: This is his fourth year in the league. You know
- 25:21Speaker 3: what he is at this point. That was a bad
- 25:24Speaker 3: pick at the time, and it's a bad pick now.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Not only that, but you traded up to get him.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Gave a third.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you look at the guys who were drafted in
- 25:33Speaker 3: the six or seven picks after that.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Makes you want to puke.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Went up and got him. And I'm very hit or
- 25:42Speaker 4: miss on a lot of, a lot of draft picks.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Like I was huge on the next trade, Caleb Johnson.
- 25:49Speaker 4: He was my guy. I wasn't huge on Broderick coming
- 25:53Speaker 4: out and just moving him around so much was just
- 25:56Speaker 4: so detrimental to his growth. And I know that's a
- 25:58Speaker 4: horse we've, we've beat to death.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Right. But you know, if.
- 26:02Speaker 4: They would have moved them to, you know, right tackle
- 26:04Speaker 4: and kept him there or kept him at left tackle
- 26:07Speaker 4: and all of this, because Dan, I'm getting mad just
- 26:09Speaker 4: thinking about it because Dan Moore, who was not the
- 26:12Speaker 4: future of your team, refuses to move tackles, refuses to
- 26:17Speaker 4: switch tackle side. It's just so ridiculous, this whole thing.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I don't know if it would have made a difference
- 26:23Speaker 4: with Broderick, but it certainly, certainly, certainly didn't help.
- 26:27Speaker 5: No.
- 26:27Speaker 2: And I think Dan Moore was terrible. I think Broderick
- 26:29Speaker 2: was terrible.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I think Max was such a great pick now, looking
- 26:34Speaker 3: back and knowing that Broderick, you had nothing in him.
- 26:39Speaker 2: He was unplayable, Pat.
- 26:42Speaker 3: In the preseason, they had him playing all four quarters,
- 26:45Speaker 3: just trying to show them a reason to keep you
- 26:48Speaker 3: on the roster. Like he was on playable and Dylan cook,
- 26:52Speaker 3: not much better. So quickly what we thought could be
- 26:54Speaker 3: offensive line depth on this team after you draft a
- 26:58Speaker 3: tackle that, you know, you really didn't need now is
- 27:01Speaker 3: showing that thank God you drafted around one tackle.
- 27:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 4: This, this point in time right now, a roster cut
- 27:08Speaker 4: down day, You know, not to be Captain Obvious, but
- 27:11Speaker 4: it would have looked a lot different if we would
- 27:14Speaker 4: have gone, you know, if Makai Lemon would have felt us.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Who knows if we.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Would have gone tackle in round two. You know, it's
- 27:23Speaker 4: just no telling how different this team would look right now.
- 27:26Speaker 4: So it's just interesting to see how the cards fall.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Like you said, Max is a better pick, prospect, all
- 27:34Speaker 3: the above than Broderick was at the time.
- 27:37Speaker 4: And I think he's got better folks around him. to
- 27:40Speaker 4: help him out and to help him reach his potential.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Hopefully some stability is in line. And what a fucking
- 27:46Speaker 4: failure for Mike Tomlin and his staff. I know it
- 27:50Speaker 4: was an Omar Khan pick, right? It was his first pick, actually.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Anything to excuse Omar, huh? I'm not excusing Omar at all.
- 27:57Speaker 4: It was a missed pick.
- 27:58Speaker 1: They whiffed.
- 27:59Speaker 4: But just the process that they put Broderick through when
- 28:03Speaker 4: he joined the team, moving him around as much as
- 28:05Speaker 4: they did, not coaching them up as well as they could.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I mean, just a fucking embarrassment.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Couldn't agree more. We've seen a lot of that over
- 28:15Speaker 2: the last five years.
- 28:16Speaker 3: And I'm hoping that somehow Mike McCarthy and this staff
- 28:20Speaker 3: doesn't let us fall into the same trap.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And I will say one last thing about Broderick.
- 28:24Speaker 4: I mean, the success rate on tackles in the league
- 28:28Speaker 4: is very low, right? I mean, getting a pro bowl
- 28:32Speaker 4: tackle from the draft and coaching them up and building
- 28:35Speaker 4: them up is very rare, right?
- 28:38Speaker 1: You fail a lot more than you succeed.
- 28:40Speaker 4: So, you know, this is now, what, three first round
- 28:44Speaker 4: picks in five years that we've spent on tackle positions. So,
- 28:49Speaker 4: you know, I like what I've seen out of Fatanu
- 28:52Speaker 4: on a large scale. Obviously, we have a couple of
- 28:55Speaker 4: other young players on the offensive line at guard and center.
- 28:58Speaker 4: So hopefully, you know, we'll be set up here and
- 29:01Speaker 4: we don't have to burn another first-round pick in the
- 29:03Speaker 4: next two, three years on the tackle.
- 29:04Speaker 3: No, I mean, they've spent a lot of money on
- 29:06Speaker 3: the O-line or a lot of capital, a lot of
- 29:08Speaker 3: assets on the O-line. The only one you can confidently
- 29:12Speaker 3: say they hit on at this point is Zach Frazier.
- 29:16Speaker 1: The one that, yeah, I mean, sure. I like what
- 29:19Speaker 1: McCormick's been doing.
- 29:20Speaker 4: I like what Fontana's been doing, but they are not
- 29:23Speaker 4: in the same kind of safety blanket.
- 29:24Speaker 2: You can't say they're a hit at this point.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. They're not. I mean, I'm looking at Frazier
- 29:28Speaker 1: as a potential Pro Bowl center this year.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so am I.
- 29:32Speaker 3: And you look at Fontana, he missed his, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 3: the whole first season of his career, you know, dealt
- 29:37Speaker 3: with a little bit of you know, lingering things last year.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 29:41Speaker 3: I mean, we've seen 50% of solid and 50% of
- 29:45Speaker 3: injury so far through his career.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Why don't we get on to the next trade that
- 29:52Speaker 1: I hinted at?
- 29:52Speaker 3: Caleb Johnson being dealt to the Green Bay Fudge Packers
- 29:55Speaker 3: for a sixth round pick. Packers obviously needing a running
- 29:59Speaker 3: back with Josh Jacobs being going on the commissioner's exempt list.
- 30:05Speaker 3: We'll see what that situation looks like.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Yeah, all that stuff. Whatever happened.
- 30:08Speaker 4: In the words of Carmine Lupertazzi, you know, whatever happened there, right?
- 30:14Speaker 3: No, Deshaun Watson officially makes me believe victims no matter
- 30:17Speaker 3: what the victim looks like. So I'm fully on board.
- 30:22Speaker 1: As long as it's a woman victim. Men are never victims.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Absolutely not, dude. Absolutely not. And if the man is
- 30:28Speaker 2: a victim, I'm not believing him.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Just look at that whole Lindsey Clancy case going on
- 30:33Speaker 2: right now, Pat.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Absolutely. That woman needs acquitted. She did not kill her kids.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Even if she said it, the doctor said it, her
- 30:43Speaker 3: lawyers said it, the state says it, she did not
- 30:46Speaker 3: do it.
- 30:46Speaker 2: She killed Lindsey Graham?
- 30:47Speaker 4: I wish, dude.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on with that. I don't
- 30:52Speaker 2: even know if he's still alive.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Lindsey Graham, nah. She killed her.
- 30:56Speaker 2: She killed him.
- 30:57Speaker 1: She killed him.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Who's the other one that's been in hiding?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Oh, Mitch McConnell.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Yeah, is he alive now?
- 31:05Speaker 1: He's a robot.
- 31:06Speaker 4: They're trying to rebuild his circuits right now.
- 31:09Speaker 2: He hasn't been seen in some 80 days.
- 31:11Speaker 4: There's an adrenochrome shortage, dude, until we bomb Iran again.
- 31:15Speaker 2: True, dude. All this Epstein shit, you know, once they...
- 31:20Speaker 2: Locked them up and got rid of the files.
- 31:21Speaker 3: No more Adrenochrome for these people.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and the next thing you know, the billionaires have
- 31:25Speaker 4: to go to East Palestine and fucking meet up in
- 31:30Speaker 4: the trailer park for $ 160 in a Kia Sereno.
- 31:34Speaker 2: How sad, dude.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I really feel for our billionaires right now, dude. It
- 31:38Speaker 3: must be a tough, tough couple of months for them.
- 31:40Speaker 1: They can't get away with anything anymore.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You can't even get a $ 100 handjob in a trailer park.
- 31:47Speaker 1: No, dude. I'd have better luck doing it.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Yeah, probably.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Probably.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Bad idea.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Can we make that our fantasy punishment next year?
- 31:56Speaker 3: $ 100 handjob? Yeah.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I'm picking Weege in round one if that's the punishment.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I'm getting my guy.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Weege in and Heidenreich rounds one and two.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Caleb Johnson obviously being known by Steeler fans for the
- 32:21Speaker 3: dropped kick return, looked at it, bounced into the end zone,
- 32:25Speaker 3: Seattle falls.
- 32:26Speaker 2: On it, and that was Caleb Johnson's career summed up
- 32:29Speaker 2: as a Pittsburgh Steeler.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm still rooting for him. I still wish him well.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I mean, his college tape wasn't good enough to keep
- 32:35Speaker 4: him on the Steelers roster. I understand why they did
- 32:38Speaker 4: what they did, but still a lot to be excited
- 32:41Speaker 4: about there.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Honestly, Pat, I'm not going to root him well. And
- 32:45Speaker 2: I'm not going to wish him well.
- 32:46Speaker 3: And I don't hope he goes and becomes a career
- 32:49Speaker 3: stud running back.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I do.
- 32:53Speaker 2: That was the most frustrating.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Why was he even on the special teams in the
- 32:56Speaker 4: first fucking place?
- 32:58Speaker 5: He's a rookie.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Power back, and they just threw him in special teams.
- 33:02Speaker 2: It made no sense.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Because he was our best option because we had no one.
- 33:07Speaker 2: That's why we needed Swiffer. That's why we needed the
- 33:09Speaker 2: wet jet.
- 33:10Speaker 1: He was not our best option.
- 33:12Speaker 3: So guys like Caleb Johnson and Cordero Patterson are returning
- 33:15Speaker 3: fucking dicks.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I would have wasted a first-round pick on Swiffer Wetjet.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Did you get that? Do we have that on the record?
- 33:25Speaker 2: We have it on the record.
- 33:26Speaker 4: I would have let a thousand kids die if I
- 33:29Speaker 4: keep my company afloat.
- 33:31Speaker 1: What was that Monsters, Inc.
- 33:32Speaker 8: Quote?
- 33:33Speaker 2: Mr. Waterford. That's what you sounded like, dude.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 3: I mean, that was just the most frustrated I've ever
- 33:43Speaker 3: been in a stadium. And I think my issue was
- 33:46Speaker 3: it was one. Obviously, he didn't know the rule that
- 33:48Speaker 3: you learn at a young, young age. And two, he
- 33:52Speaker 3: didn't go after the ball. You know, not only you
- 33:54Speaker 3: drop the ball, but you don't go after it. And
- 33:56Speaker 3: you just watch Seattle score a touchdown in the fourth
- 34:00Speaker 3: quarter on your face.
- 34:01Speaker 2: That was spit on it.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a classic Gunnar Olchewski move.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Know what was worse, Pat.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Tiptoeing a kickoff or muffing one and then watching the
- 34:16Speaker 3: other team score a touchdown in your face.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Definitely tiptoeing a kickoff.
- 34:20Speaker 2: I don't think so. I really don't think so.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Well, at least, listen, I'm not defending Caleb Johnson, but
- 34:27Speaker 4: the rules, that rule didn't change.
- 34:29Speaker 1: That is always.
- 34:31Speaker 2: None of those rules have changed. They've been the same rules.
- 34:34Speaker 4: The kick rules overall did change and he had no
- 34:38Speaker 4: business being... All this to say, Garo Ochevsky is still
- 34:41Speaker 4: the dumbest play I've ever seen.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I don't know, Pat. One resulted in a touchdown. One
- 34:45Speaker 2: did it.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Okay.
- 34:48Speaker 1: We're talking about the consequences of it. Sure, I can't
- 34:51Speaker 1: argue that.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Talking results.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Just pure bonehead moves.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he dropped the ball and then watched the other
- 34:59Speaker 3: team pick it up and score.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Instead of getting the ball at the 40, he went
- 35:03Speaker 4: out of his way to catch it in toe tap.
- 35:06Speaker 2: They're both dumb. They're both ridiculous.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yeah, we could just agree to.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Be happy that we don't have to watch either of
- 35:14Speaker 1: that on.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Special teams anymore.
- 35:16Speaker 3: Finally, they got a shifty, hardworking, first guy in, first
- 35:22Speaker 3: guy out, student of the game, kick returner.
- 35:27Speaker 1: The next Ryan Switzer, some are saying.
- 35:29Speaker 2: No, stop.
- 35:33Speaker 3: And let's not forget the type of athlete Switzer was
- 35:36Speaker 3: in college.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Cut from the roster. The Landon Roberts.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's bullshit, dude. I'm still pissed off. Like, it
- 35:47Speaker 1: makes no sense.
- 35:47Speaker 4: And I wouldn't have been as pissed off. Did you
- 35:49Speaker 4: hear what Mike McCarthy said today?
- 35:51Speaker 2: I did.
- 35:52Speaker 5: I did.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Can we put that clip in maybe in editing?
- 35:55Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead.
- 35:56Speaker 9: Number one, outstanding player. Came here late, so I have
- 35:59Speaker 9: to admit it. He's definitely moved on to his reputation.
- 36:04Speaker 9: I enjoyed him while he was here. I wish him
- 36:07Speaker 9: the best of luck. You know, there's a lot of
- 36:11Speaker 9: things that go into those final decisions. Special teams are
- 36:14Speaker 9: usually a big part of once you get past who
- 36:17Speaker 9: you see in the first 11 or 12 going out
- 36:19Speaker 9: on the field, offense and defense.
- 36:20Speaker 6: And I'll talk.
- 36:21Speaker 9: Extensively during this whole process. That's what if I work
- 36:24Speaker 9: with different combinations of players, those are the things that
- 36:28Speaker 9: we're doing schematically that we'll get into once we get through.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:42Speaker 4: So basically, I mean, not looking good that a Landon
- 36:44Speaker 4: Roberts is even going to find his way back on
- 36:47Speaker 4: the roster at this point, which when it first happened,
- 36:50Speaker 4: I probably like most people assumed it was, you know,
- 36:53Speaker 4: a way to get around paying him guaranteed money, which
- 36:55Speaker 4: isn't a good look or it's, you know, they're going
- 36:58Speaker 4: to be stashing.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Yeah. Procedural.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Maybe they'd be stashing, you know, Will Howard on, on
- 37:03Speaker 4: IR in, in like a day or two. And, you know,
- 37:06Speaker 4: with that concussion he may or may not have. But
- 37:09Speaker 4: at this point, it's Tuesday night. We're recording this and
- 37:12Speaker 4: McCarthy seemingly doubling down on, you know, wishing him luck
- 37:16Speaker 4: outside the black and gold.
- 37:19Speaker 3: It seems like the Steelers had no intention of putting
- 37:23Speaker 3: him on this roster.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah. No matter how he played, how well he played.
- 37:27Speaker 3: And it seems like they needed a middle linebacker to
- 37:31Speaker 3: eat up some snaps during the late preseason.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Absolutely dude that's.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Pretty much what it feels like to me at this
- 37:37Speaker 3: point there's some fucking hypocrisy too with his with with
- 37:42Speaker 3: uh basically him saying you know paraphrasing but you know
- 37:45Speaker 3: oh we need someone who has special teams versatility it's
- 37:49Speaker 3: like okay i mean legion's gonna be uh essentially just
- 37:52Speaker 3: a special teamer carson is essentially gonna be just a special.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Teamer i mean what about what about uh uh jabuti
- 38:00Speaker 4: what about uh kevin yeah kevin uh Jabuti.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Jabuti.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Jabuti.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Jabuti Jones.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Jabuti.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Where's his special teams? He ever made a play on
- 38:13Speaker 1: special teams?
- 38:16Speaker 4: Like, God, that fucking pisses me off, dude.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I'm pissed.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm less upset about it. I like Landon Roberts.
- 38:28Speaker 3: He's not what everyone says he is. He's not a
- 38:32Speaker 3: stud linebacker. He's not really a starter. He's a thumper.
- 38:39Speaker 3: He's great at what he does, and that's stomping the run,
- 38:43Speaker 3: and he's bad at everything else.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Well, when you got the Lost and Soft brothers out there,
- 38:48Speaker 4: your words, not mine, wanting to make you rip your
- 38:50Speaker 4: fucking hair out because one of them can't tackle, and
- 38:54Speaker 4: the other one has no idea where the fuck he's going,
- 38:56Speaker 4: and you see Kevin Jobiney. Riding pine for the third
- 39:00Speaker 4: or fourth straight game while Landon Roberts is in fucking
- 39:04Speaker 4: Tahiti getting his meat sucked.
- 39:06Speaker 5: You're going to.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Be pissed off.
- 39:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 3: I mean, they must have a lot of confidence in
- 39:11Speaker 3: Peyton Wilson and his newfound ability to stop the run,
- 39:16Speaker 3: which has been the talk of camp. Just like Roman
- 39:19Speaker 3: Wilson is suddenly God, you know, talk of camp.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Let's talk of camp shit. I'm so fucking sick of that.
- 39:26Speaker 2: I'm sick of preseason. I'm sick of camp. I'm sick
- 39:29Speaker 2: of practice. I'm sick of everything at this point.
- 39:31Speaker 3: And this just goes on to show that the Steelers
- 39:36Speaker 3: might not know what they're doing.
- 39:40Speaker 4: I'll tell you what, if I was a Landon Roberts,
- 39:42Speaker 4: I wouldn't want to come back to the Steelers.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Oh, well, let's not get carried away. I'm just saying
- 39:47Speaker 2: I wouldn't.
- 39:47Speaker 3: At the same time, 31 other teams aren't giving him
- 39:50Speaker 3: a chance, and he got to eat up a lot
- 39:52Speaker 3: of snaps and put on display what he can do
- 39:55Speaker 3: for the 31 other teams.
- 39:57Speaker 2: He did get a black form.
- 39:58Speaker 4: I don't know the conversation that went on behind the
- 40:00Speaker 4: scenes or anything like that, but his first stint in
- 40:04Speaker 4: Pittsburgh ended because.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I mean, we offered him good money, but he wanted
- 40:09Speaker 1: to be a starter.
- 40:09Speaker 4: We had two good, you know, at the time, our
- 40:12Speaker 4: thought process was we have two good starting inside linebackers.
- 40:16Speaker 1: We don't need you.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Good luck.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Go to the Raiders.
- 40:18Speaker 4: And then we bring him back, play him almost every
- 40:20Speaker 4: snap of the preseason, and then say, all right, you know,
- 40:24Speaker 4: thank you.
- 40:25Speaker 9: See you later.
- 40:26Speaker 2: He got some good tape from us.
- 40:28Speaker 4: He got some great tape, but just, I don't know.
- 40:31Speaker 4: And like I said, I don't know the conversations behind
- 40:33Speaker 4: the scenes. I know You know, it's not his first stint, obviously,
- 40:38Speaker 4: with the Steelers. It's not his first stint with Patrick Graham.
- 40:42Speaker 4: I'm sure they have a good relationship. But I just–
- 40:46Speaker 4: if I'm a Landon Roberts man, I don't know if
- 40:48Speaker 4: I want.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Anything to do with the Steelers anymore.
- 40:51Speaker 3: I'm a little upset, but I think I'm probably about
- 40:55Speaker 3: as 50% upset as everyone else is.
- 40:57Speaker 1: I think Dub is excited. He's thrilled.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Yeah, what are your thoughts, Dub?
- 41:02Speaker 7: I mean, he looked– I would have rather– Got rid
- 41:05Speaker 7: of Carson Bruner, but.
- 41:07Speaker 9: Wow.
- 41:07Speaker 2: You can't get rid of Carson Bruner because he is
- 41:09Speaker 2: a special team stud.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Carson Bruner might be the special teams captain. And I
- 41:15Speaker 4: think value for both of them. I'd rather have a
- 41:19Speaker 4: Landon Roberts, honestly, but you know, you do need some,
- 41:23Speaker 4: some special teamers. I wasn't targeting Bruner as much as
- 41:26Speaker 4: I was targeting job, but he junior job, but he, job,
- 41:31Speaker 4: but he, job of the hut.
- 41:31Speaker 1: We'll call him job of the hut. We call him.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Jabba the Hutt. We call him because he is.
- 41:39Speaker 5: A large man. He's very large.
- 41:42Speaker 1: And his name is Jabba and he plays football. Hutt!
- 41:46Speaker 2: Jabba the Hutt. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, pretty much.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Now, there was another cut that the Steelers made that
- 41:53Speaker 3: I thought was a little.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Shocking. Not shocking, but I mean, surprising was Travis Homer.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Now, Pat, if you remember last week, I thought I
- 42:03Speaker 3: told you Eli Heidenreich was going to make the roster.
- 42:08Speaker 2: You said no. You said no. Travis Homer. Travis Homer.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Personal protection on the punt team.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Yeah, okay.
- 42:16Speaker 4: And you had also said Broderick would have been traded
- 42:19Speaker 4: and Alain and Roberts would have been cut and not
- 42:21Speaker 4: made the roster.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I said all that.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
- 42:26Speaker 5: You're right.
- 42:27Speaker 4: But I got to poke holes in it because that's
- 42:28Speaker 4: what I do. If you told me a Landon Roberts
- 42:31Speaker 4: and Broderick Jones, we're not going to be on the
- 42:33Speaker 4: 53 man. I would have slid a hide and rake
- 42:36Speaker 4: in there for sure.
- 42:37Speaker 1: But, uh, I will give you your flowers on this one.
- 42:41Speaker 2: McJingy.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I also like, I don't know.
- 42:43Speaker 4: I personal protector outside of maybe gunner is probably the
- 42:49Speaker 4: most important position on the special teams, but For a
- 42:53Speaker 4: minute there, I kind of got roped into the whole, oh,
- 42:56Speaker 4: he's been the only guy, a personal protector.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Let's not forget this isn't rocket science, right? I mean,
- 43:01Speaker 1: it's special teams. You're a personal.
- 43:03Speaker 4: You're basically just hiking the ball, you know, at that point.
- 43:05Speaker 4: So it's not rocket science. I certainly put.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Too much weight into.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Eli Heinreich's ability or inability in my head to learn
- 43:16Speaker 4: how to be a personal protector.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I'm glad he found his way on the roster, though.
- 43:21Speaker 3: You need guys like that in your roster, Pat. You
- 43:24Speaker 3: need guys like that. And you need guys like Broderick
- 43:27Speaker 3: Jones and Caleb Johnson off your roster.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Bottom line.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I think when we look at it from the grand
- 43:32Speaker 3: scheme of things and the type of people that you
- 43:34Speaker 3: want in the building, that's kind of what I go with.
- 43:38Speaker 2: You know what?
- 43:38Speaker 3: Also, this opens it up for Pat. Maybe a little
- 43:44Speaker 3: bit of trick play action on the punt team this year.
- 43:47Speaker 8: Huh?
- 43:47Speaker 5: Huh?
- 43:50Speaker 1: I mean, I can't tell you you're wrong.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Maybe a little snap to, you know, Bill Burr back there.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Heidenreich goes out to the flat.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Boom.
- 44:00Speaker 2: First down.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Little who was it? Corey Trice. You're talking about running
- 44:06Speaker 1: the ball, though, not throwing the ball.
- 44:08Speaker 2: No, I'm talking about throwing the ball. Corey Trice dropped
- 44:10Speaker 2: that ball, too.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
- 44:12Speaker 9: You're right.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Eli doesn't drop the ball. I've never seen Eli drop
- 44:17Speaker 3: the ball. Obviously, Eli being one of the surprise makes
- 44:21Speaker 3: on this team, a couple of the surprise makes.
- 44:23Speaker 2: We said a lot about him earlier. Kevin Jebedee Jr.,
- 44:27Speaker 2: where did he come from, Pat?
- 44:29Speaker 1: He's an undrafted free agent, Mick Gingy.
- 44:32Speaker 4: He played at Syracuse. We've seen him play before, actually,
- 44:37Speaker 4: against Pitt. Defensive tackle out of Syracuse. Like I said, undrafted.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Not only did all 10 rookies in this draft make
- 44:48Speaker 4: the team, which is I think really surprising for a
- 44:51Speaker 4: lot of people, uh, but an undrafted free agent. So
- 44:54Speaker 4: 11 new young members for the Steelers this off season.
- 45:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Brian Bollinger, Baldy, uh, loves Kevin Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee, Jebedee.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Um, I'm going to tweet out Jebedee. I'm going to
- 45:11Speaker 2: tweet out a.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Video where Baldy kind of breaks down, um, Kevin's hustle,
- 45:17Speaker 3: his angles, his heart, a little bit of everything there.
- 45:23Speaker 3: So Baldy does a great job breaking it down. I'm
- 45:26Speaker 3: going to tweet it out right now, Pat.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead.
- 45:28Speaker 4: And I'm not going to be– look, he's got big
- 45:32Speaker 4: comparisons to make in my eyes because in my eyes,
- 45:37Speaker 4: whether it's fair or not, he is the Landon Roberts,
- 45:42Speaker 4: not replacement directly because different positions, but he's the guy
- 45:45Speaker 4: I'll be thinking– would rather have him or Landon Roberts,
- 45:48Speaker 4: whether that's fair or unfair, but you know, I'll be all,
- 45:51Speaker 4: I don't know much about him as I think most
- 45:53Speaker 4: dealer fans can attest, uh, kind of the dark horse
- 45:56Speaker 4: in here. I think he's listed at six, four, 300 pounds. Um,
- 46:01Speaker 4: so I'll keep an open mind. I'll be curious and
- 46:04Speaker 4: inquisitive when studying his film and trying to learn more
- 46:07Speaker 4: about him over the next few weeks. But, uh, yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 4: I mean, kind of a head scratcher, but we'll see. I'll,
- 46:13Speaker 4: I'll trust, uh, I'll trust the coaching staff until I
- 46:16Speaker 4: can get my eyes on what type of player he is.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I'm excited. Another big, beefy boy that we can lock
- 46:22Speaker 2: eyes with, Pat.
- 46:24Speaker 4: Hmm?
- 46:25Speaker 2: Yep, you heard me.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Another shocker that obviously this has kind of surprised everyone,
- 46:30Speaker 3: except for Mike McCarthy, four quarterbacks on the roster.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, Drew Aller. You know
- 46:41Speaker 2: what the old saying is, Pat?
- 46:43Speaker 1: If you've got four quarterbacks.
- 46:44Speaker 2: You've got four quarterbacks. You've got none.
- 46:46Speaker 1: You don't have three.
- 46:47Speaker 4: You've got one more than three.
- 46:49Speaker 2: You've got none.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Not that this is, you know, tarps off Eagles, but
- 46:57Speaker 4: what the fuck are they doing keeping four quarterbacks?
- 47:00Speaker 5: Did you see that?
- 47:02Speaker 4: No.
- 47:03Speaker 1: There are four teams that kept four quarterbacks. Do you
- 47:06Speaker 1: know the other two?
- 47:07Speaker 2: Arizona. Arizona. Was that one?
- 47:15Speaker 1: I believe so. Let me double check.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Yes. Wow, really? That was a guess. Arizona.
- 47:20Speaker 5: No, no, no. Sorry.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I thought you said Atlanta. My apologies.
- 47:24Speaker 9: Damn.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Atlanta. And let me go with Green Bay.
- 47:34Speaker 4: No.
- 47:34Speaker 6: No.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Jets.
- 47:37Speaker 5: No.
- 47:38Speaker 1: It was the Falcons.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Two up.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Phoenix. Cooper Rush.
- 47:42Speaker 4: And Jack Strand. the Eagles with Hurts, Dalton, Tanner McKee,
- 47:47Speaker 4: Cole Payton, the Steelers, and the Minnesota Vikings with Kyler Murray,
- 47:52Speaker 4: Carson Wentz, JJ McCarthy, and Max Brosmer. Didn't we see
- 47:56Speaker 4: Max Brosmer a little bit last year, or am I
- 47:59Speaker 4: making that up?
- 48:00Speaker 2: Not in the regular season.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I think we did. It doesn't matter.
- 48:06Speaker 4: This isn't fucking Vikings fucking tarps off either, but just interesting.
- 48:11Speaker 4: I mean, I could see why a couple of those
- 48:13Speaker 4: teams would The Eagles, I mean, listen, they have the
- 48:16Speaker 4: best GM in the league, unfortunately, as much as I
- 48:19Speaker 4: hate to say it.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Whoa, Pop, breaking news.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Joe Porter Jr.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Side. Max Brosmer is on the practice squad.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Oh, just now?
- 48:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 5: What are the odds?
- 48:34Speaker 2: As of five hours ago.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Oh, you looked it up.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I Googled his.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Name to try and see if he played last year,
- 48:40Speaker 3: but yeah, it said he cleared waivers and they're putting
- 48:42Speaker 3: him on the practice squad.
- 48:43Speaker 2: So three teams kept four quarterbacks.
- 48:45Speaker 4: Well, four teams kept them. Three teams right now have
- 48:47Speaker 4: four quarterbacks, and I doubt the Eagles. Roseman basically said
- 48:52Speaker 4: that they were keeping all four of them so they
- 48:55Speaker 4: could try to trade one of them. So if you
- 48:57Speaker 4: know anyone, if anybody out there knows anyone who wants
- 49:00Speaker 4: Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee, or Cole Payton, call the Eagles.
- 49:05Speaker 2: You know what I saw about the Eagles, Pat?
- 49:08Speaker 4: You saw an Italian coach who doesn't trust his African-American
- 49:11Speaker 4: quarterback enough?
- 49:13Speaker 3: Well, I think that one really speaks for itself, and
- 49:16Speaker 3: I don't really need to go into that one further.
- 49:18Speaker 2: No, the Eagles. have male gay cheerleaders.
- 49:23Speaker 1: At least one.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Who is that appealing to? Gay males. The same people
- 49:32Speaker 2: who are watching the Bad Bunny halftime show?
- 49:35Speaker 1: The same people who threw batteries at Santa Claus.
- 49:40Speaker 2: It's just.
- 49:41Speaker 5: They better.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Put him in an Ironman suit and get rid of
- 49:43Speaker 1: all metal in that stadium.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Because those fans.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Not only that, Pat.
- 49:50Speaker 2: I looked it up. There are 11 teams with male cheerleaders.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I bet Doob can guess every one of them.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Go for it, Doob. 11 teams. I only know that
- 50:02Speaker 2: we have no cheerleaders.
- 50:04Speaker 10: No.
- 50:05Speaker 2: We're all business.
- 50:07Speaker 5: All business.
- 50:07Speaker 2: No cheerleaders. I got the list right here.
- 50:10Speaker 4: And we don't have 11 team captains like the Rams do.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Go ahead, dude. I got nothing.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet you don't.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I bet you don't. Real quiet over there. The
- 50:26Speaker 3: Ravens have male cheerleaders. I think we actually brought this
- 50:29Speaker 3: up at some point in the last few years on
- 50:31Speaker 3: this show when talking about doing some Ravens pregame. The
- 50:35Speaker 3: Ravens are the only team in the AFC North with cheerleaders.
- 50:39Speaker 3: There are a bunch of West Coast teams with male cheerleaders.
- 50:42Speaker 3: The Rams, the Niners, the Seahawks. Obviously, the Washington Commanders
- 50:49Speaker 3: think that that's fit for them.
- 50:51Speaker 2: The Eagles. A couple that shocked me, though, Pat.
- 50:54Speaker 1: I bet the Vikings have male cheerleaders.
- 50:56Speaker 2: They do. Yeah, of course they do. Minnesota, of course
- 50:59Speaker 2: they do. And New England as well.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Governor Warren.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Cover the Walls, cheer squad.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 51:10Speaker 1: The Walls Warriors.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Walls is balls. Walls is balls.
- 51:18Speaker 3: No, and the New England Patriots, you know, being Massachusetts,
- 51:21Speaker 3: of course they do. But a couple of shockers on
- 51:23Speaker 3: here are the Tennessee Titans, the New New Orleans Saints,
- 51:30Speaker 3: and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Looks like a bad Saturday Night Live skit is what
- 51:46Speaker 2: it does.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that is a Saturday Night Live skit.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Looks like if Shane Gillis was making fun of cheerleaders.
- 51:54Speaker 4: I mean, looks like a bunch of dudes cheerleading is
- 51:58Speaker 4: what it looks like.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Not for me, Pat. Yeah, I mean,
- 52:05Speaker 2: it was weird going to.
- 52:08Speaker 4: Go into some away games where they had cheerleaders and
- 52:10Speaker 4: like you walk in and there's just like cheerleaders there
- 52:13Speaker 4: and you're like, oh yeah, I guess.
- 52:14Speaker 5: It feels JV. It does.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Like it doesn't, because Steelers, that's just not something we're
- 52:18Speaker 4: used to, you know?
- 52:19Speaker 2: No, I mean, we're above that. I don't like to
- 52:23Speaker 2: object women.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Dude, we should get like some yinzer cheerleaders, like go
- 52:28Speaker 4: down to like- Giant Eagle.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Brookline and find some 50-somethings.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Go down to the Southside Giant Eagle.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Yeah, go down to the south side.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Tell them we'll give them a hot turkey sandwich and
- 52:41Speaker 4: a bag of Isley's to take home.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Some Hanover Berlin pretzels and a juice box.
- 52:47Speaker 2: That actually is not a bad idea.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Adopt some type of Yinzer squad to just, they hang
- 52:53Speaker 3: out with the drumline people.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Yeah, just smoke cigs.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Smoke cigs, wave a towel around.
- 53:00Speaker 5: Wave a tie.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Maybe we put like a.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Couple of basement couches over there that they sit on.
- 53:08Speaker 3: The biggest one gets the recliner.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Give them a couple 40s.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 53:14Speaker 2: I think we're on to something there, Pat.
- 53:17Speaker 1: The crock pot crew, man.
- 53:19Speaker 2: The crock pot crew. Anything else on the roster cut?
- 53:25Speaker 2: Catch your eye.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Would you have kept all four quarterbacks?
- 53:33Speaker 2: Probably.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I mean, even when you look long-term, though.
- 53:38Speaker 3: I think next year you're going to need those three
- 53:43Speaker 3: quarterbacks on your team. I think the odd man out
- 53:50Speaker 3: of those three would be Mason next year.
- 53:52Speaker 2: I think this year you need Mason on your team.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I think next year you need Mason. You need a veteran.
- 53:58Speaker 1: No matter who he is, where he comes from. And
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'd like it to be Mason.
- 54:02Speaker 4: You have a guy in-house who knows the offense, obviously
- 54:06Speaker 4: very comfortable with the organization. And I don't know if
- 54:09Speaker 4: next year I'd feel comfortable going into the season with
- 54:14Speaker 4: two young quarterbacks that are still learning the game, like
- 54:18Speaker 4: Aller and Howard, and then Mason Rudolph.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And if they bring a guy in from the outside.
- 54:22Speaker 10: Unless he's a veteran– like Mason Rudolph, which I doubt
- 54:28Speaker 10: it will be, right? It'll probably be some young draft
- 54:31Speaker 10: pick if we do get another quarterback. Then do you
- 54:34Speaker 10: really want to have like four quarterbacks this time next
- 54:38Speaker 10: year or Jew Aller, Will Howard, and a rookie quarterback
- 54:41Speaker 10: next year?
- 54:42Speaker 1: I just, I'm kind of out on Will Howard.
- 54:45Speaker 4: I think he could be a decent backup, but I
- 54:48Speaker 4: think his ceiling is just too low for me to,
- 54:51Speaker 4: would have kept him around. And I'm not even confident
- 54:54Speaker 4: that he would have had any issue making the practice squad.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Like, I don't know how many teams around the league.
- 55:00Speaker 1: This is something I noticed this year more than any
- 55:02Speaker 1: other year. As Steelers fans, I.
- 55:05Speaker 4: Think we pay so much attention to our 53, right?
- 55:09Speaker 4: In our 90-man roster and cutting it down. And, oh,
- 55:11Speaker 4: can so-and-so make it? I hope so-and-so doesn't get snatched up.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Every fucking fan base, except the Miami Dolphins, right? Who signed,
- 55:18Speaker 4: what was it, seven free agents or whatever. But every
- 55:23Speaker 4: fan base and every team was struggling to make roster cuts.
- 55:27Speaker 4: It was hoping that one or two guys on their
- 55:29Speaker 4: team doesn't get scooped up elsewhere. And, you know, Will Howard,
- 55:33Speaker 4: I just, I don't know, man. I don't know if
- 55:35Speaker 4: he'd be the third best quarterback on any other team.
- 55:38Speaker 4: And I think Pittsburgh fans just were a little too
- 55:41Speaker 4: confident he wouldn't have made the practice squad.
- 55:45Speaker 3: I think they'd just rather keep him if they value
- 55:47Speaker 3: him more than they value a guy like.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Landon Roberts or Travis Homer.
- 55:53Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 55:55Speaker 3: It's a head scratcher for sure, Pat. I don't have
- 55:57Speaker 3: anything else to say about this roster cut situation. I
- 56:00Speaker 3: think I got it all off my chest.
- 56:03Speaker 4: How do you feel about this roster as a whole?
- 56:07Speaker 4: I mean, obviously the safety position is probably our weakest point.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Offensive line depth is not where we were probably hoping
- 56:15Speaker 4: it'd be.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not going to lie, Pat. I'm a little worried.
- 56:22Speaker 3: This is the first time this year It's the first
- 56:25Speaker 3: time since they have hired Mike McCarthy that I'm starting
- 56:29Speaker 3: to have a little bit of doubt creep in.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Where does that doubt come from?
- 56:33Speaker 3: I think that's a great question. Thanks for asking, Pat.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I think that doubt comes from our lack of success
- 56:40Speaker 3: in the preseason. And I know it's just the preseason.
- 56:44Speaker 3: I'd like to remind myself and all the listeners it's
- 56:47Speaker 3: just the preseason.
- 56:48Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 56:50Speaker 3: I saw too many mistakes out there to be comfortable
- 56:52Speaker 3: all across the board.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and– Put it into context, maybe this could be
- 56:57Speaker 4: a homework assignment if you can't, you know, think off
- 57:01Speaker 4: the top of your head like this.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I'm kind of putting you on the spot.
- 57:03Speaker 4: But the specific areas where, you know, you thought we'd
- 57:09Speaker 4: see more from, I mean, obviously I think O-line and
- 57:12Speaker 4: the run game as a whole sticks out the most.
- 57:14Speaker 4: It's hard to evaluate the defense really at all, though,
- 57:17Speaker 4: you know, because we are without five or six of
- 57:20Speaker 4: our starters who, All could be, you know, Pro Bowl
- 57:24Speaker 4: players this year, right? I mean, we can get on
- 57:26Speaker 4: the list with TJ, Cam Hayward, Highsmith, Joey Porter Jr.,
- 57:33Speaker 4: Jalen Ramsey, right? So the defense as a whole is
- 57:36Speaker 4: just very difficult to evaluate. Offensive line looked pretty shitty,
- 57:41Speaker 4: especially without our two top running backs from most of
- 57:44Speaker 4: the preseason. And obviously we didn't have DK Metcalf or
- 57:48Speaker 4: Michael Pittman.
- 57:49Speaker 1: So I don't know. Have you noticed anything contextually outside
- 57:53Speaker 1: of that, that, that makes you worry maybe the offensive
- 57:55Speaker 1: line in particular.
- 57:56Speaker 2: You know, you spiked.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:58Speaker 3: The offensive line, not what they have, not what they
- 58:02Speaker 3: were advertised as not what a lot of people thought
- 58:04Speaker 3: they were going to be. They're, they're kind of in
- 58:06Speaker 3: line with what I thought they were going to be,
- 58:08Speaker 3: how they were last year, what I thought they were
- 58:10Speaker 3: last year, really doesn't feel like much has changed. We
- 58:13Speaker 3: haven't seen max get in there. I think max is
- 58:15Speaker 3: going to make a huge difference. I really liked that
- 58:17Speaker 3: pick the one. thing i would say you just sparked
- 58:21Speaker 3: my mind a little bit pat every draft selection we
- 58:25Speaker 3: made made the roster and i think that every draft
- 58:31Speaker 3: pick had a really good.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Preseason or a good preseason at the least.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Sure yeah um jeremy loved what i saw of him
- 58:40Speaker 3: obviously we didn't see much of max's Jeremy, I thought,
- 58:42Speaker 3: played great. Drew Aller, I wasn't, you know, at this
- 58:46Speaker 3: point I'm not thrilled about, but I thought he played
- 58:48Speaker 3: better than.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Advertised in my mind.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I thought he played solid and it was a little
- 58:53Speaker 3: tough to evaluate because of the talent playing with him.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Daylon Everett, I thought, had a great preseason. Jennings Dunker,
- 59:00Speaker 3: he was probably one that left you wanting a little
- 59:04Speaker 3: bit more.
- 59:05Speaker 2: You can be.
- 59:05Speaker 4: You could be comfortable with jennings dunker as a pick
- 59:08Speaker 4: and still say he was disappointing this preseason i think yeah.
- 59:11Speaker 3: And i don't think he had a bad preseason you
- 59:14Speaker 3: know i don't think he played his way out of
- 59:17Speaker 3: anything i just think he was he's a little bit
- 59:19Speaker 3: more of a project than we anticipated um but he
- 59:22Speaker 3: showed promise uh swiffer wet jet loved what he did
- 59:25Speaker 3: in the preseason offensively and in special teams um Going
- 59:29Speaker 3: down the list, I mean, Gabe Rubio, Riley Nowakowski, Spears Jennings,
- 59:34Speaker 3: Eli Heidenreich. I thought every single player that we drafted
- 59:38Speaker 3: showed something that we can hang our hat on. I
- 59:41Speaker 3: thought this was a phenomenal draft. I've been saying it
- 59:43Speaker 3: for a while, and I'm looking forward to watching this
- 59:45Speaker 3: draft class turn us back into a championship team.
- 59:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and, you know, going through the draft, I mean,
- 59:51Speaker 4: you kind of went pick by pick here, so I
- 59:54Speaker 4: think I'll take a shot at it. Max Ahanachor still–
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: I mean, promising, great athlete.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: The worst pick in Stewart's history, as you said.
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: I haven't seen enough to form an opinion about him
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: one way or the other. Obviously, letting go of cutting
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: ties with Broderick is huge for him. Jeremy, I like
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: the pick. I thought he played really well this preseason.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: Drew Aller, kind of what I expected. Daylon Everett, I
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: like that pick too. He played really well. He's earned
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: a roster spot. Jennings Dunker, I told you how I
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: feel about him. I'm not worried about him in the future.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: I still like to pick for a guard, but would
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: have liked to have seen more in the preseason. Weijin,
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: that last game was really huge for him, hoping he
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: can get his average yards per return up, but also
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: take some touchdowns. Nowakowski kind of came in the right
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: place at the right time, getting him a fullback spot
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: with the departure of Connor Hayward not filling his shoes
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: with anyone else. And I like Nowakowski. He had a
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: fine preseason. Gabe Rubio, I think, is really the biggest
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: pleasant surprise of this draft class. Not that he's going
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: to be some stud defensive tackle, but this is a
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: guy nobody had ever known. He doesn't even have a
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: picture on the Steelers' website because he wasn't in any
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: draft profiles. And he really showed up and proved that
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: he deserved a roster spot there. Spears Jennings in the
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: seventh was a great pick and high in rank roster
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: bubble candidate.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Happy to see he made the 53. Yeah.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Anything else on the roster? I'm all spoken out.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: I mean, we'll have more time next week as well
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: to address anything else. So I feel like there's something
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: I'm forgetting to ask you, but that's okay. We can
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: always revisit next week. Okay.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: You got to answer the week.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: This is the answer of the week.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: It comes from a land that we all know, we
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: all love some more than others.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Oakland.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: A land that is sheltered.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: A land that has more flock cameras than anywhere else
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: in Pittsburgh.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Mount Lebanon, 22 flock cameras.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: A land that is more comfortable protecting their property than
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: giving up their freedom.
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: They don't allow above-ground pulls in Mount Lebanon.
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: They don't allow above-ground pulls, and they have flock cameras everywhere.
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: But despite all that, a gem, a gem in the
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: seventh round of stud who made the team, Eli Heidenreich,
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: is my intro of the week.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: All right. All right.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: I've been bullish on him since the get. I'm excited
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: to have him on this team. You need more guys
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: like that on your team.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: He is a football guy.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he is. He's a football player. And he loves
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: the troops so much that he would be one himself.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Before we get into Doobie's little segment here, his trivia,
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: and Doobie did have some things he wanted to ask us.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: I don't have a McGingy's hot lead for us this week, but...
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: For those of you who tailed me on the Cleveland
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: Browns bet last week, thank you. I love you, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: you're welcome. Because that was one of the sharpest picks
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: in McGingey's hot lead history.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: We're now 2-2.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: We're going to be even going into the season, primed
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: for a good year. So if we're seeing the board
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: that clear now, buckle up. It's going to be a
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: great year, boys.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: No college football bet hot leads?
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: No.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: I have nothing. Although, Pitt.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: They're minus 16 and a half right now. You know,
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: it kind of looks pretty good. I'm definitely going to
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: be hitting that, but no official leads at this point.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: All right, Doobie, what you got for us?
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: Alright, well, speaking of Pitt, they just dropped the gold
- 1:04:02Speaker 7: standard three-year strategic plan trying to get back to the
- 1:04:06Speaker 7: ACC championships.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: Did they?
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: That's embarrassing.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: That's basically all it said. Did it tell you any
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: steps on the three-year strategic plan?
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: We have semblance of a plan. We have parts of
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: a plan.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: We call it the gold standard.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: What is your plan?
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: We have Bits and pieces of a plan.
- 1:04:27Speaker 7: I've seen them. They have some revenue generation and resource
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: acquisition plans and some engagement and brand advancement plans.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: We've heard it before at Pitt. That doesn't sound anything
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: like winning football.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I'm excited about all of those things.
- 1:04:46Speaker 7: That's what I kind of want to get your thoughts on,
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: is what are you guys thinking about this season?
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you what.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: If Marvel and Disney doesn't give us a good character,
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: then our season is doomed.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Because apparently your whole season relies on the type of
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Disney character you get from them. Is that in the
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: gold standard plan? I don't think they mentioned that.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: You get a good character from Disney. I think that's
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: probably in the gold standard plan. Um, no, I mean,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: pits over under is set at what? Seven and a
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: half this year. It's a little high. I think six
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: and a half is probably a good line for them.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Let's see where the odds are over seven and a
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: half minus one 46 right now under seven and a
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: half plus one 25. So Vegas is saying that we're
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: going to at least win eight games. They say this
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: is at least an eight and four football teams. You
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: say you don't do, I'd be very happy with that.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Be thrilled with eight wins. Do I think we're going
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: to win eight games? Who the fuck knows, dude?
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: I mean, I'll tell you what, we got a good quarterback.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: We got a quarterback who loves.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: This city, wants to be here, never once considered leaving
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: or considered transferring. And I'm excited to, you know, ride
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: with Mason. Yeah.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: I agree.
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: I think Mason's going to have a really good year.
- 1:06:15Speaker 7: I think it's going to come down to the defense.
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: If Pat Narduzzi can keep us together.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Offensive line's got to stay healthy, too.
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I don't know much about this.
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Pit football team outside of the receivers and obviously the quarterback.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: Let me look at the roster right now. I mean,
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: last year, I know more players than I thought.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Mason ended up going 6-1 after the bench of, what's
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: his name, Nate Peterman Jr. I think when you watch
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: us play against teams like Miami and Notre Dame, the
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: biggest difference and the most visible advantage they had is
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: the trenches, offensive line and defensive line. So much bigger,
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: so much stronger, so much faster, so much better in
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: those aspects. It really becomes impossible to beat teams like that.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: And we saw we had a fantastic O-line at this
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: point last year and just injuries, man. It was like
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: every game I was watching someone on the O-line go
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: down and felt like.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: And the ACC is low key kind of stock this year.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I mean, that Virginia team looks real good the other day.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: They made the ACC championship last year and they added
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: Bo Pribola, who is kind of a stud, to be honest,
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: you know, transferred from Missouri previously backing up Drew Aller
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: at Penn State, ran for a hundred yards through for
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: a couple hundred more.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I think Virginia is going to be a sneaky team
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: in the ACC.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: And I think they're kind of riddled with, with teams
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: right along that level, you know, Virginia is, I think
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Pitt is like right behind them. NC State's supposedly pretty
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: good this year. Clemson's out right outside the top 25.
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Virginia Tech kind of having a classic Penn State season
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: where they get a lot of wins.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: And just don't do anything with James Franklin.
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: And then you add James Franklin who, you know, more
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: than likely is just going to lose some big games,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: but beat all the teams he should beat and be competitive. It's,
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: The ACC is wide open, and it's not because they're
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: a bunch of bad teams.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I'd say still a bit top-heavy, though.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I think they're pretty deep.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: Looking at the Pitt schedule here, I'm saying ending at
- 1:08:48Speaker 7: Louisville and at Cal is a bad sign for our season.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: Yeah, well, Florida State at home and then at Louisville
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: at Cal. I mean, those three games could be rough.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Louisville's another one of those teams that, like, is
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: pretty good, not great. You know, SMU, another one of
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: those teams that's pretty good, not great. You could even throw,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: you know, Duke and North Carolina in there. North Carolina,
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: you know, who knows how they'll do. But I think
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: they're just– I think they're deep. I don't think they're
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: as top-heavy as you think, Pat.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to seeing another year of Bill Belichick
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: at Pitt this year.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: I just can't wait to watch Pat Narduzzi coach this
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: team again. I mean, what a great coach that guy is.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: He always does everything right, makes every single call correctly,
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: never makes any mistakes, says everything the right way in
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: post games and pre games.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: I mean, that's just really what you want out of
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: a head coach.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: He just owns it. You know, he never blames it
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: on the refs.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Never.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: It's all him. He never blames it on NIL. He
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: just owns it, man.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: He never even blames it on his own players. He
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: would never do that.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: No.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: He's just a great stand-up guy.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: All jokes aside, when we were living on campus after graduation,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I would see Pat Narduzzi. Me and King Brony, King
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: of Beaver County, are sitting at a bar, and we
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: look out, and Pat Narduzzi is pushing a Make-A-Wish girl
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: in a wheelchair every single night. I will give him
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: some respect for being good to the community.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I met him at the draft. He had a little.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: Some of the Pitt players had a booth, and they
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: were giving autographs, and it felt weird.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: What did you tell him?
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: I said, Hi, Mr.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Coach Narduzzi, sir. Let's have a great year, sir.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I'm your biggest fan, sir. Please bend over, pull your
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: pants down, I'm going to suck your cock.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Can you... Can you please sign my pit towel, sir?
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: I'll hang it right up in my apartment right.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: Away, sir. I have a glove in my pocket.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: Can you please inspect me for cancer?
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Oh, god damn it. It's another year as a pit fan,
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: isn't it? We're in store for it again. It starts again.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: You said it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Well, we're signing up for it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it. You know, 7, 8 a.m.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: To noon is what I'm looking forward to outside the stadium.
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 1:11:17Speaker 7: Sandwiches from Uncle Doobie.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: We might need Uncle Doobie week one skewers, too.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: I mean, word on the street is Pat is going
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: to be really late to the tailgate.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to be real late.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Like, really late.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: 9-11 weekend, I'm flying in from Chicago.
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he might not make it at all.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's relax.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: I'm not saying anything wrong. You brought up 9-11.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: It's a date on my calendar.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: It's not just a date for me, Pat.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: I remember.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Just because you forgot doesn't mean I forget.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: That's my friend's birthday.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Just because this country forgot doesn't mean I forget, Pat.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: It's Bill from Plum's birthday. And Big Bill from Plum's birthday.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Double Bill action.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: We got to see them in the parking lot. Maybe
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: we call Bill Sr. and see if he wants to
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: do some cooking, too.
- 1:12:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know if we're getting Uncle Doobie to
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: a Steeler game.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: No, it would have to be a Christmas miracle. What's
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: the trivia question? Yeah, on to trivia.
- 1:12:19Speaker 7: So last week, McGingy, you were on the nose with it.
- 1:12:25Speaker 7: It was Isaac Redman.
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: Dang.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Preseason Bettis, huh?
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: Yep, you knew it right away.
- 1:12:34Speaker 9: Dang.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: He needs to change his fucking last name already.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: Isaac Redman.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Okay, Pat.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: That's bullshit.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Well, I couldn't agree more, Pat. It's disgusting.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: It should be Isaac Guardian Man.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Washington did change there. Isaac Commander Man. Anyways, Jimmy.
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: You guys ready for this week?
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: We're going to stick with the preseason.
- 1:13:10Speaker 9: Trend.
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: So which Steelers wide receiver led the NFL, the entire NFL,
- 1:13:15Speaker 7: in preseason receiving yards in 2013, earning the nickname August Antonio,
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: but was still cut during final roster cuts and never
- 1:13:25Speaker 7: made a regular season roster spot again? I'll give you
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: guys a little hint, too. He's from Beaver County.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: I know this one, so I'm not going to say it.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Former Pitt Panther.
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: He was not.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: No?
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Nope.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Not Antonio Bryant.
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: It was not.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Wow. Okay.
- 1:13:48Speaker 7: Antonio Bryant was like 2000.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit earlier probably. Yeah, so I don't
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: know this one. Okay. Yeah, hit us up on Twitter.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Correct answers. We'll get a koozie courtesy of Tarps Off Radio.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: That's pretty much it. We'll be back for you next Wednesday,
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: 8 a.m.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Usual spot. We've got a big week one show planned
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: for you guys.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Aircraft has been nonstop texting me about his eye in
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: the sky. Possible guests coming on, you know, obviously Atlanta
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: week one, big show.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I'm excited. I hope you're excited. Pat, why don't you
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: take us away?
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Aircrafts chops. All of our chops, dude. My chops are waterlogged.
- 1:14:28Speaker 5: They're wrinkled.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: Looks like my fucking finger in a fucking swimming pool
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: for eight hours.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: That's how wet they.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Are, McGinji.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: I have been licking my chops for months now.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: Sloppy chops.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: My chops haven't been dry in months, McGinji.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: See you guys next week.
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: And can I get Pat from Torps Off to the stage?
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Pat from Torps Off to the stage, please.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: All right, Tequila Cowboy! How you doing? I'm going to
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: sing a song about the Stellars!
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Turn it up, DJ!
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: Yeah!
- 1:15:15Speaker 8: Conditions here, we're facing a problem.
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: We lost our head coach, Michael Tomlin. I know it
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: was time for him to go, but it still hurts.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: When he tells me we'll find another, I'll tell you
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: what's the real onion cutter. I'll miss Danny Smith and
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: his bubble gum, but who's the one?
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: So I drink, and I stink, and I pray. Mike McCarty!
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: It's Mike McCarty! Greenfield! Greenfield! He's from down Greenfield! Mike McCarty!
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: His name's Mike McCarty!
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: And he's sandwiched!
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: Double meat and egg, please!
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: So I drink, and I smeg, Donna Dale's Mike McCarthy.
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: It's Mike McCarthy.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Greenfield, Greenfield.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: From over there in Greenfield.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: I didn't care about anything but jeans.
- 1:16:36Speaker 8: Lately I can't help but to ponder How long must
- 1:16:42Speaker 8: we wait here for Rogers? I thought him and Big
- 1:16:47Speaker 8: Mike were tight as hell.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: Like Mikey's belt Rogers, Mason, Howard, I don't care. I
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: want a long party while Cam's here.
- 1:17:02Speaker 8: If Mike gets TJ a ring, I'll get on my.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Knees if that's his thing.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: So I drank and I snick and I brained. Mike McCartney.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: It's Mike McCartney. Greenfield, Greenfield. He's from down in Greenfield.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Mike McCartney.
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: His name's Mike McCartney.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: A man, he's sandwiched.
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: Double meat and eggs, please. So I drink and I smoke.
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: Down at Jagoff's.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Mike McCartney.
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: It's Mike McCartney. Greenville, Greenville. That day from that Greenville.
- 1:17:49Speaker 8: I didn't care about anything but a Super Bowl.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: You can't tell me how to play without the smellers.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: They leave their address on the counter. Get your fucking
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: hands off me.
