- 0:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Team Craig Anthony Harper is my name. Welcome to
- 0:03Speaker 1: another installment for you project your favorite, second, third, fourth,
- 0:07Speaker 1: fifth favorite show. I'm sure welcome, Welcome, welcome. I hope
- 0:12Speaker 1: you're good. I hope you have a good day today.
- 0:14Speaker 1: If it's early, if it's late, I hope you had
- 0:16Speaker 1: a good day. Someone who hasn't had a good day
- 0:20Speaker 1: or two of late. But she's coming good, which is
- 0:23Speaker 1: good because we don't like her sick, because she's no
- 0:25Speaker 1: use to me. I don't care about a health, just
- 0:28Speaker 1: a productivity. Let's be honest. Ha ha ah. The productive
- 0:34Speaker 1: one is still a seven out of ten, but yesterday
- 0:36Speaker 1: she was a two, so absolutely no value at all.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Tiff Cookai, Hi, Look, the beauty is sometimes I tend
- 0:44Speaker 2: to go down hard and fast, but I bounce back
- 0:47Speaker 2: hard and fast too.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I reckon, Well, I think you're quite resilient because you
- 0:51Speaker 1: were you know, you're a little pugilist at heart, among
- 0:55Speaker 1: other things. So you're a fighter. You're a fighter. You
- 0:58Speaker 1: don't wave the white flag. But what was interesting was
- 1:02Speaker 1: it yesterday that we did Mick Hall, that we recorded yep,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and at the start of the podcast you were okay,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and then but we were on because there was a
- 1:12Speaker 1: bit of pre and post chatting, and by the time
- 1:15Speaker 1: we got to the end of the chat the recording,
- 1:19Speaker 1: you could hardly string four words together and it looked
- 1:23Speaker 1: like you had fucking influenza twenty seven. And he was
- 1:27Speaker 1: just and You're like, as soon as we stopped recording,
- 1:31Speaker 1: You're like, I feel shit out, so I've got to go.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And then you're gone, go on.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I had another one lined up that I was going
- 1:37Speaker 2: to be and I was like, I'm not going to
- 1:39Speaker 2: be able to make that one.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I went, I went down hard.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Oh that would have killed you, that one, because that
- 1:44Speaker 1: was an hour and a half with Chezy Dana and
- 1:49Speaker 1: might I say, all right before we jump into that,
- 1:51Speaker 1: so what what do you have or what did you
- 1:54Speaker 1: have or what were your symptoms?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Well? Just well just a cold really, but a very headache.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I did a COVID test. Wasn't COVID, Maybe an influenza.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I just thought it was cold.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But I was a bit headache the whole time. And
- 2:12Speaker 2: then yesterday, so here's this. Yesterday morning, I'd gone to
- 2:16Speaker 2: the gym just to do a light session. I did
- 2:18Speaker 2: some squats, they weren't heavy. I did some hip thrust
- 2:21Speaker 2: and after two sets of hips thrusts, I had to
- 2:24Speaker 2: go home because I felt like someone was sitting on
- 2:28Speaker 2: my chest, like my lungs felt quite sinister, and I
- 2:31Speaker 2: was like, oh, this is something's not good here, and yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 2: so that's.
- 2:39Speaker 3: The state of it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, a sick body is a stressed body, and
- 2:44Speaker 1: strength training is another kind of stress. So we're putting
- 2:47Speaker 1: stress on a system that is already stressed. And being
- 2:51Speaker 1: the alpha female slash male slash unicorn that you are,
- 2:56Speaker 1: it seems like a good idea until you get in
- 2:58Speaker 1: the gym and your body's picking up the middle finger
- 3:01Speaker 1: at you go and fuck you go home and rest.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We're not doing this. Yeah yeah, But also when you're
- 3:06Speaker 1: like you and me, which is probably a little bit rational,
- 3:09Speaker 1: a little bit obsessed, well how obsessed? A little okay?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Um am not? You are? Fuck off? What are you
- 3:16Speaker 1: looking at? You know? So there have been many times
- 3:20Speaker 1: in my life when I've just yeah, I'm the same,
- 3:23Speaker 1: but I'm better now that I'm older, I'm a little
- 3:26Speaker 1: bit wiser and allegedly and being able to have a
- 3:31Speaker 1: day off when I actually need a day off. That's
- 3:33Speaker 1: quite groundbreaking for me. As you know there are not
- 3:37Speaker 1: too many days in a year where I don't go
- 3:39Speaker 1: and lift stuff. But I was going to say to you,
- 3:43Speaker 1: like you've been telling me and your audience and my
- 3:46Speaker 1: audience a while, that you just I think you said
- 3:49Speaker 1: it on yesterday's show, which will be out soon, or
- 3:51Speaker 1: yesterday's recording with Mikhor by the way, everyone, if you
- 3:55Speaker 1: haven't heard that, go back to it. I mean, hey,
- 3:59Speaker 1: do what you want, ignore me. But I think it
- 4:01Speaker 1: was a really good chat. I liked it. It was
- 4:04Speaker 1: about being a late starter, some really good stuff in that,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and a lot of people lately there seems to be
- 4:11Speaker 1: a disproportionate number of people who are fatigued, Like every
- 4:15Speaker 1: second person. I'm like, is just more physical than anything,
- 4:19Speaker 1: but I guess emotional and psychological and stress and what's
- 4:23Speaker 1: going on in the world. And petrol is nineteen thousand
- 4:26Speaker 1: dollars a leater and everyone's like, fuck, I've got no
- 4:29Speaker 1: dough and everything goes to fortune and will we still
- 4:32Speaker 1: be here in three years? And AI is fucking melting
- 4:36Speaker 1: my brain and social media is killing my kids, and
- 4:40Speaker 1: there's a bit of overwhelmed I think going on a
- 4:43Speaker 1: little which is not hard to understand.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I have been.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm waiting for blood test results for iron levels, but
- 4:55Speaker 2: I have just been, as you know, with my hormones
- 4:58Speaker 2: and everything, fatigued for a year and just just gets
- 5:03Speaker 2: to the point where you go, well, I've rested and
- 5:05Speaker 2: I've changed this, and I've changed that, and I've done this,
- 5:07Speaker 2: and I've done that, and I've had some wins.
- 5:09Speaker 3: But yeah, and then you you know, I think you're
- 5:13Speaker 3: right though, there's a lot in the world where you
- 5:15Speaker 3: have to go.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Oh, how much of this is just coming from lifestyle
- 5:19Speaker 2: and input, the input of the world and the cognitive
- 5:22Speaker 2: mode of just existing today.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And also you as an individual versus old mate, versus
- 5:30Speaker 1: Nancy versus John Nancy Nancy's eighty. I don't know that
- 5:34Speaker 1: she listens. Nancy. If you do, God bless your Have
- 5:37Speaker 1: you ever been a Nancy that's younger than forty? Reach
- 5:42Speaker 1: out if you're Nancy and younger than forty, fucking well done.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It's like Craigs. Has there been in the last five
- 5:48Speaker 1: year years in Australia a baby called Craig? Absolutely not?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Like imagine holding up a six or seven pound gorgeous
- 5:56Speaker 1: little human just fucking just slid out of the nest,
- 6:00Speaker 1: just fucking ready for life. What do you think, Dale? Oh?
- 6:03Speaker 1: What about Craig? Oh fucking music to my ears, let's
- 6:08Speaker 1: go with that. Fucking I'm still mad at my parents.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Like I'm not even being funny. It's that I fucking
- 6:15Speaker 1: hate my name. God, the only things that rhymes with
- 6:19Speaker 1: are plague and vague. So got a fucking awesome start
- 6:24Speaker 1: to existence. I mean, yeah, just rolls off the tongue.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It's like honey, It's like verbal honey, fucking Craig ron
- 6:35Speaker 1: Mary of all the fucking names. You only had one kid,
- 6:40Speaker 1: by the way, I mean, you only had one name
- 6:42Speaker 1: to choose. You had one kid, one kid. All you
- 6:47Speaker 1: needed to do was come up with one fucking decent name,
- 6:51Speaker 1: and you went with the one name in the world
- 6:53Speaker 1: that rhymes with Fagan plague.
- 6:55Speaker 2: So I remember reading Drunk Tank Pink, and there's a
- 6:59Speaker 2: section in the of that book where they talk about
- 7:02Speaker 2: names in the impact of names on people's lives.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yes, yes, definitely, Yeah, definitely. I mean I don't want
- 7:10Speaker 1: to name a name like what I think is an
- 7:12Speaker 1: ugly name. There's a few names I think are ugly,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but I won't say them because I'm definitely going to
- 7:17Speaker 1: offend people. But there's some and then there are cool names.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Again that's totally subjective, but you know it's funny.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I never felt like.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I matched the name Tiffany. I don't feel like a Tiffany.
- 7:33Speaker 1: What do you feel like?
- 7:34Speaker 3: I don't know. Definitely not a Tiffany though, like Tiffany.
- 7:37Speaker 2: When I went to primary school, there was I remember
- 7:40Speaker 2: in primary school there was a Arianne and a Priscilla,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and you know, they were quite Ariann and Priscilla, like,
- 7:47Speaker 2: and I felt like the name Tiffany belonged in that category,
- 7:50Speaker 2: but I did not.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I reckon you need almost one of those
- 7:59Speaker 1: those guy girl names. You know that's like no, but
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know it's like Billy or Tony or Peter with
- 8:08Speaker 1: an apt Yeah that's a cool that's a cool name.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I met a chick called John j O N. And
- 8:16Speaker 1: at first I'm like, yep, I'm like, oh weird, And
- 8:19Speaker 1: like two weeks later I'm like John, what's up? You know,
- 8:22Speaker 1: like and yeah, well one of my friends. You know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: her name is russ Yes, Russell is her actual name,
- 8:31Speaker 1: like Mose will be fucking Darren, you know, like and
- 8:36Speaker 1: I remember, so yeah, her husband's Henry and she's Russell.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm like what. And when she first became a client,
- 8:48Speaker 1: so she was one of my clients, and she became
- 8:50Speaker 1: one of my trainers, and then you know, we've been
- 8:54Speaker 1: friends for a while and it's like oh yeah. And
- 8:57Speaker 1: then because I've known her thirty five years and she's
- 9:00Speaker 1: now a grandmother of eight, I introduced her, you know
- 9:07Speaker 1: to people like if she's at the gym, I go, oh,
- 9:09Speaker 1: this is Russell and people go sorry, and I go Russell.
- 9:12Speaker 1: They go and then they look at me like I'm
- 9:15Speaker 1: taking the piss. And then I realized, I go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
- 9:19Speaker 1: that's actually that's not me being funny. Weirdly enough, that's
- 9:23Speaker 1: not me being taken the piss. That is her actual name.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And it's funny because it's not. No one's going to go, oh,
- 9:29Speaker 1: that's lovely, you know, help people go that's lovely Brian
- 9:36Speaker 1: or Casey. Casey's good kind of jewel name.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I remember years ago when there was a
- 9:44Speaker 3: friend who had friends.
- 9:46Speaker 2: That were having a baby and they were in the
- 9:47Speaker 2: motocross scene and they were two a real cool couple,
- 9:51Speaker 2: and they were calling their son Buster Jones and I
- 9:57Speaker 2: was like, that is the coolest name for the cool
- 10:00Speaker 2: kid in the coolest family. But not everyone could pull
- 10:03Speaker 2: off the name Basta.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Hey, well, no, no, that is that seems like an
- 10:09Speaker 1: innately ossie name as well. I'm sure someone yeah yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: well Knacker's that would be my firstborn Knacker's Harper, and
- 10:22Speaker 1: the other one if it was a girl. Two dogs,
- 10:26Speaker 1: so a true blue and you you know who was
- 10:34Speaker 1: doing pretty well in the creative naming of children's steaks.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I can't remember the others, but I think there are
- 10:39Speaker 1: a few more so River Phoenix, yeah, the actor ye
- 10:46Speaker 1: who passed away. And Jacquin Phoenix. You know, the dude
- 10:51Speaker 1: who plays the joker. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, so that's
- 10:55Speaker 1: I think like j A c q U, I n
- 11:00Speaker 1: like Jacquin. That's I've never met a Jacquin. I've never
- 11:05Speaker 1: met a River. I've swum in a few, never chatted
- 11:08Speaker 1: with one. And I think there was I don't know,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I might be wrong, but yeah, anyway, so you're so,
- 11:15Speaker 1: what did you like if you could pick your name?
- 11:19Speaker 1: And you don't need to be definitive, but what would
- 11:22Speaker 1: get in the top three if you could? If you
- 11:26Speaker 1: could be an angel and Whisper in mum or Dad's
- 11:29Speaker 1: ear and influence them.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I don't even know. I think I'm terrible. I'd be
- 11:34Speaker 3: terrible speak about it. Yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I also I wanted to say to you, congratulations, congratulations
- 11:41Speaker 1: on a thousand episodes of Roll with the Punches. The
- 11:45Speaker 1: amount of people who and I'm not trying to make
- 11:49Speaker 1: you or me or anyone sound good or bad, but
- 11:53Speaker 1: the data is that virtually, like a very very small percentage,
- 11:57Speaker 1: like less than one percent, get to a thousand episodes.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And you can't get to a thousand episodes. This is
- 12:04Speaker 1: a good news for you. You can't get to a
- 12:07Speaker 1: thousand episodes unless you're doing something right, and so you're
- 12:11Speaker 1: doing lots right. And when you posted that the other day,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I kind of knew you were heading there, but I
- 12:18Speaker 1: went fucking hell because you only started the podcast last Thursday.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm like, how was you know?
- 12:25Speaker 3: That's what it was sessions. If there were weekly episodes.
- 12:29Speaker 2: It takes nineteen years to reach a thousand episodes.
- 12:33Speaker 1: That's crazy, isn't it. That's crazy? Yeah? Yeah, Well, anyway,
- 12:36Speaker 1: well done. Thanks, you're producing some really good you know,
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's funny this morning, Murray, my friend from the cafe,
- 12:45Speaker 1: this is I'm going to This is full vulnerability, and
- 12:47Speaker 1: this is not going to make me look good. Right, Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 1: I'm just throwing myself under the bus and elevating you.
- 12:56Speaker 1: But that's quite biblical because the Bible says he you
- 12:58Speaker 1: humbles himself will be exult right, So let's see if
- 13:01Speaker 1: that comes to pass, and he who insults himself will
- 13:04Speaker 1: be humbled. I've done that a few times. Hey, look
- 13:07Speaker 1: at me, boom So anyway, Wow, wow, welcome to flem Central. Everyone.
- 13:14Speaker 1: It's Harps and or if she would like to be
- 13:18Speaker 1: known Brian.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Anyway, noting that time down to cut that golf hand?
- 13:25Speaker 1: Do that? Do that? Or leave it in? No, leave
- 13:28Speaker 1: it in, puck it. So Murray came in and he
- 13:33Speaker 1: was talking about, oh, well think of the moment. But anyway,
- 13:36Speaker 1: he started referencing you chatting to someone with on your
- 13:40Speaker 1: your podcast. I've known him for thirty years. He doesn't
- 13:44Speaker 1: fucking listen to mine. I wanted to kick him in
- 13:47Speaker 1: the dick. I'm like, what are you listening to her show?
- 13:51Speaker 1: For which I didn't really know. I was glad for you,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but I was insecure and jealous and I just had
- 13:56Speaker 1: that moment there going one of my mates listens to Tiff,
- 14:01Speaker 1: but not to me. I don't know. Maybe he listens
- 14:03Speaker 1: to me. He never tells me. He's never he's never recalled.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You were having a chat. He recalled some conversation. I'm like,
- 14:11Speaker 1: I didn't even know that he listened to podcasts, So
- 14:14Speaker 1: fuck you, But also well done.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I feel a million bucks.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Oh you should, and he's quite fond of you. And
- 14:21Speaker 1: I was having coffee with your big, hairy, tattooed, weird
- 14:25Speaker 1: looking boyfriend with fingernailed, multicolored fingernails and holes in his ears,
- 14:30Speaker 1: and also speaking of him. Fuck it, this is people like,
- 14:35Speaker 1: what is this show? I don't know anyway, who Me
- 14:40Speaker 1: and your bloke took Ron's new electric scooter. So's Ron's,
- 14:48Speaker 1: which I've shared Ron's my dad and Ron's Ron's got
- 14:51Speaker 1: Parkinson's and Ron's got lots of mobility challenges. Will say
- 14:56Speaker 1: at the minutes that probably won't get much better because
- 15:00Speaker 1: Arkinsass tends not to resolve itself, And so Scottie and
- 15:05Speaker 1: I he graciously gave up his time and energy and
- 15:10Speaker 1: we chucked it in the back of his big man van,
- 15:13Speaker 1: big fucking testosterone man van while my little white lady
- 15:17Speaker 1: car is sitting in the driveway. I just fucking anyway,
- 15:21Speaker 1: that's okay. I love my lady car. It's fantastic. And no,
- 15:25Speaker 1: not all ladies drive little cars. I know there's ladies
- 15:29Speaker 1: out there with big fuck off utes, big fuck off SUVs.
- 15:33Speaker 1: In fact, there's more people in this area. I reckon
- 15:35Speaker 1: eight out of ten suv drivers the ladies. Anyway, So
- 15:39Speaker 1: we went up there and we gave Ronni his mobility scooter.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And let's just say, at this point in time, and
- 15:45Speaker 1: if you know my dad, do not share this with him,
- 15:47Speaker 1: Let's just say that Ron's perception of his skill versus
- 15:52Speaker 1: his skill, there's something of a gap, you know. And
- 16:00Speaker 1: I'm right, I'm right, and he's like, like, just it's
- 16:03Speaker 1: a fucking dodge and car at the moment. But he
- 16:07Speaker 1: was very excited. And you know what I love. I
- 16:09Speaker 1: love to see like my dad does not get excited
- 16:12Speaker 1: about much. And to be honest, you think about someone
- 16:14Speaker 1: who's eighty six, they've got Parkinson's, their mobility is really limited,
- 16:19Speaker 1: and there's a few other challenges significant that I won't
- 16:22Speaker 1: mention going on, like, life is not easy, life is
- 16:25Speaker 1: not fun, life is not convenient, and there's not a
- 16:28Speaker 1: lot of highlights at the moment, but he was a
- 16:32Speaker 1: little bit like a kid at Christmas today. So it
- 16:35Speaker 1: made my heart sing. And your bloke, your bloke has
- 16:39Speaker 1: got as people would know who've heard Scott Douglas on
- 16:43Speaker 1: my show and your fucking show. Fucking hell, Tip's got
- 16:49Speaker 1: a podcast anyway. Hey his I'm just kidding, am I No,
- 16:57Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. I'm very proud of you. Yeah, he's
- 17:01Speaker 1: he's got such good emotional and social intelligence. And because
- 17:05Speaker 1: he's a paramedic and because he's been around all kinds
- 17:09Speaker 1: of people in all sorts of physical conditions. Yeah, he was.
- 17:15Speaker 1: It was the Scott Show today. I you know, like
- 17:19Speaker 1: if he could have stayed or me, my mum definitely
- 17:22Speaker 1: would have picked Scott. She was enamored with him. And
- 17:29Speaker 1: I'm like a fucking desert boot and he's a fucking
- 17:32Speaker 1: red stiletto, you know, so, oh look a new shiny thing. Anyway,
- 17:38Speaker 1: he was great. It was great. Ron got his new toy.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I hope he doesn't fucking crash any into anything. But yes,
- 17:47Speaker 1: so well well done. You who was your thousandth episode?
- 17:51Speaker 1: I should know?
- 17:51Speaker 2: But uh, Daviana, actually remember we've spoken about Vianna trans Oh.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Is that the powerlift?
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah?
- 18:03Speaker 1: Do you know can you give people? Well, I'm going
- 18:06Speaker 1: to give a snapshot and then you correct. So what
- 18:08Speaker 1: I like about he says he's a man, right, He
- 18:12Speaker 1: doesn't say he's a woman. Right.
- 18:14Speaker 2: He identifies Yeah, female presenting, calls him well preferred pronouns
- 18:20Speaker 2: as she obviously, but calls himself a female presenting and
- 18:27Speaker 2: and a biological man like he's very facts over feelings.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and I love it because he's like I
- 18:34Speaker 1: like wearing lippy and makeup and wearing a dress. And
- 18:38Speaker 1: has he got has he had implants?
- 18:41Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 18:42Speaker 2: And he's had a bunch of facial surgeries now he's
- 18:45Speaker 2: had like they're quite extensive he's had.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Can I say he's quite fucking pretty?
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah. It's a blow times better than me, mate.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I could probably kiss him. I reckon, he's got you covered.
- 18:59Speaker 1: It's sorry, definitely, Yeah, really down to earth, really like
- 19:04Speaker 1: and he's a power she's a powerlifter, and she competes
- 19:08Speaker 1: competes against the dudes because she's like, well, biologically I'm
- 19:12Speaker 1: a man, yeah, Like she's not claiming to be a female,
- 19:17Speaker 1: but rather a biological male who likes to live as
- 19:21Speaker 1: a female.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yes, and there was the trine of views on youth,
- 19:24Speaker 2: very very strong us on youth and parenting and schools
- 19:30Speaker 2: accepting the behavior that is tending to wean its way
- 19:35Speaker 2: in these days.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And so I'm guessing not. And by the way, everyone,
- 19:39Speaker 1: this is obviously a very hot topic and wh're not
- 19:43Speaker 1: pushing an agenda, so don't send an email. We're just
- 19:46Speaker 1: talking about a fucking topic. Isn't it funny that you
- 19:50Speaker 1: can't talk about some things where people will interpret into
- 19:53Speaker 1: that whatever they think, Oh, you're suggesting or no. If
- 19:57Speaker 1: I were suggesting, I would say, literally, I'm suggesting this,
- 20:01Speaker 1: but I'm not so Yeah, but I gather not a
- 20:06Speaker 1: big fan of regender reassignment surgery for anyone who's in
- 20:13Speaker 1: their teens.
- 20:14Speaker 2: No, definitely not, definitely not talks about the prefrontal cortex
- 20:18Speaker 2: and their inability to be able to make decisions at
- 20:23Speaker 2: that time of their life.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, amazing. So what's been the what's been has there been? Like?
- 20:32Speaker 1: What's been the hardest part of Like I think we
- 20:35Speaker 1: can even though we're talking about developing a podcast, but
- 20:38Speaker 1: we can liken it to developing anything. Like you come
- 20:42Speaker 1: up with an idea you've got a plan, you've got
- 20:45Speaker 1: to execute the plan. You've got a timeline. You've got
- 20:47Speaker 1: to produce a certain amount of work every week. You've
- 20:49Speaker 1: got to find guests. You've got to get good guests.
- 20:51Speaker 1: You've got to have good conversations. You've got to edit it,
- 20:54Speaker 1: you've got to produce it, you've got to write copy
- 20:56Speaker 1: for it, you've got to publish it. And then in
- 20:58Speaker 1: the end you want to put up put out something
- 21:00Speaker 1: to the world that hopefully is somewhere between pretty good
- 21:04Speaker 1: and fucking amazing, which is what we try and do
- 21:08Speaker 1: here as well. Of course, what have been some of
- 21:11Speaker 1: the lessons for you, good or bad?
- 21:15Speaker 2: Ah, Good lessons I think is just the sheer amount
- 21:21Speaker 2: of learning that happens unknowingly, So realizing that you don't
- 21:27Speaker 2: learn more any other way than just getting your hands
- 21:31Speaker 2: dirty and doing the thing, and the skills I developed,
- 21:35Speaker 2: and the learning that happened I probably can't even articulate,
- 21:40Speaker 2: so the transferable.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Skills to.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Luck life, but also to my speaking. You know, I
- 21:47Speaker 2: wouldn't be entering into speaking the way I do now
- 21:51Speaker 2: if I hadn't have had all of this time one communicating,
- 21:56Speaker 2: holding conversations with a mindset of other people listening and
- 22:01Speaker 2: other people's experience, but also of one thousand conversations with
- 22:06Speaker 2: one thousand people who have lived different lives, and you
- 22:10Speaker 2: sit in that conversation and you listen, and you you develop.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Your world develops, and your understanding develops because.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Of that and because you're doing, because you're in the experience.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You know you're but your mind's all over the joint
- 22:26Speaker 1: in that you're factoring in. Oh Am I too close
- 22:29Speaker 1: to the mic? Am I far away from the mic?
- 22:31Speaker 1: Is this interesting? Have we spoke? Do we talk about
- 22:33Speaker 1: this the other day? Is this repetitive? Is this engaging?
- 22:38Speaker 1: All the while trying to be genuine and organic? Like?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Clearly there's been no plan today everyone, clearly, But I'm
- 22:48Speaker 1: constantly thinking about would and some people will hate this chat.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I'm sure some people will love it, and there might
- 22:57Speaker 1: be a bunch of people in the middle. I'm not sure.
- 22:59Speaker 1: But it's that that willingness to go. If I overthink it,
- 23:05Speaker 1: it's going to be shit. If I overthink how I
- 23:08Speaker 1: look or how I sound, or how clever I am,
- 23:11Speaker 1: or what they think of me, or you know, that's
- 23:15Speaker 1: that's destructive as well. But at the same time without
- 23:19Speaker 1: that negative overthinking. You've got to have that in the
- 23:22Speaker 1: moment's situational awareness and that social awareness. It's like, sometimes
- 23:28Speaker 1: I listen to myself and I'm like, am I talking
- 23:31Speaker 1: too much? Am I listening enough? Am I just waiting
- 23:34Speaker 1: for tip to shut up? Because I've got a question
- 23:36Speaker 1: and I'm not really listening to what she's currently talking
- 23:39Speaker 1: about because I've got my next question locked and loaded.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And then by the time you finish, I'm like, fuck her,
- 23:46Speaker 1: that question is no good anymore because we've taken a
- 23:49Speaker 1: left turn and do you know what I mean? And
- 23:52Speaker 1: you're like and you don't get to ask that. I'm like,
- 23:54Speaker 1: that was a fucking brilliant question, which probably wasn't. But
- 23:57Speaker 1: now you're at another tangent and works out better because
- 24:02Speaker 1: you're in flow. You're not in a strategic process like
- 24:08Speaker 1: you're in flow. And I think if it feels like
- 24:12Speaker 1: like this is not totally dissimilar, it's not exactly the same,
- 24:16Speaker 1: but it's not totally dissimilar to a conversation you or
- 24:20Speaker 1: I would have if we were just hanging out somewhere.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Is like talking about your thousandth show, what you do?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Who'd you do it? With how was it, how's the feedback?
- 24:30Speaker 1: What has been you know? And like I said, everyone,
- 24:33Speaker 1: you don't have to think of this as building a podcast,
- 24:35Speaker 1: but taking an idea that you have, like an idea
- 24:39Speaker 1: that you have, and turning that idea whatever it is,
- 24:43Speaker 1: a business, a program, doing a degree, starting a charity,
- 24:49Speaker 1: losing forty k's putting on ten k's like whatever it
- 24:54Speaker 1: is as an idea that then something in your head,
- 24:59Speaker 1: a non physical thing that becomes something that's real in
- 25:02Speaker 1: the world, which is a physical thing of sorts and
- 25:07Speaker 1: that people can tune in. There's you know, there's like
- 25:10Speaker 1: this is real now it's this is a thing in
- 25:12Speaker 1: your head that's now a thing for everyone in the world.
- 25:16Speaker 1: What was my long winded question? Yeah, what's been the hardest?
- 25:20Speaker 1: Like what were you shit at that you had to
- 25:22Speaker 1: get better at? Ah?
- 25:26Speaker 3: I mean, I think I think I've probably been shit
- 25:31Speaker 3: at a lot of things.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But the pace at which I entered doing this and
- 25:38Speaker 2: the enthusiasm road those out. So if I look back,
- 25:42Speaker 2: there'd be times or I could be quite critical. Maybe
- 25:46Speaker 2: the hardest thing was that the sense of being so
- 25:51Speaker 2: critical in the middle of it, Like I haven't and
- 25:54Speaker 2: it's still to today. I can hold conversations where in
- 25:58Speaker 2: the conversation I think I am pretty shit and not
- 26:03Speaker 2: good at this. And for example, yesterday when I recorded
- 26:08Speaker 2: that episode, I was like, ah, I don't feeling my best,
- 26:12Speaker 2: and I probably should have canceled this because I think
- 26:13Speaker 2: I've a really crap at it. But learning to separate
- 26:18Speaker 2: my emotion in the moment in terms of my perception
- 26:23Speaker 2: of it and enjoyment of that, separating that from the
- 26:27Speaker 2: experience that is the podcast and the podcast for the
- 26:31Speaker 2: other person. And I do that in speaking as well.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Is a lot of the time my sense of whether
- 26:38Speaker 2: something was good is how much I felt like I
- 26:43Speaker 2: was having fun and I felt confident.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Hm. And the interesting thing about our mind is that
- 26:51Speaker 1: if I'm now thinking about whether or not I'm doing
- 26:53Speaker 1: any good, that's where my attention is. Yeah, my attention
- 26:59Speaker 1: is not on the show or the person or the conversation.
- 27:03Speaker 1: My attention now, which is borne out of insecurity and
- 27:07Speaker 1: fear and all the things and self doubt and overthinking.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Now I'm in an emotionally driven kind of space in
- 27:16Speaker 1: the middle of this thing that should Yeah, So it's
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think trying to hit the pause button as quickly
- 27:22Speaker 1: as you can and regroup, which is I mean, I
- 27:26Speaker 1: think that ability in general, that situational awareness, self awareness,
- 27:34Speaker 1: you know, even my research stuff. What am I like
- 27:36Speaker 1: for the audience right now? Like you want to kind
- 27:40Speaker 1: of have some insight, but you don't want to be
- 27:43Speaker 1: dwelling on it because the moment that you're overthinking and
- 27:46Speaker 1: dwelling and obsessing your performance is definitely going down. Ironically,
- 27:52Speaker 1: worrying about your performance makes it worse. Yes, you know,
- 27:56Speaker 1: it's like it doesn't worrying about it, It doesn't you know,
- 27:59Speaker 1: it's like obsessing about the thing you're scared of just
- 28:02Speaker 1: turns up the volume on the thing you're scared of.
- 28:06Speaker 1: So it's this dichotomy between what is happening in your brain,
- 28:10Speaker 1: as you said, prefrontal cortex, logical rational brain and your
- 28:14Speaker 1: emotions and your nervous system. And even though you know
- 28:18Speaker 1: this is not helping, it's almost like, you know, as
- 28:23Speaker 1: that old chestnut you're Amigdala hijacks your prefrontal cortex. Now
- 28:27Speaker 1: my emotions are running the show, specifically fear and self
- 28:30Speaker 1: doubt and anxiety, and yeah, so it's that, but that
- 28:34Speaker 1: is the same with every you know that can be
- 28:36Speaker 1: you at work when you've got to talk to your boss.
- 28:38Speaker 1: That could be you in a meeting. That could be
- 28:40Speaker 1: you in a situation where you're trying to teach your
- 28:44Speaker 1: kids something but you're so worried about them getting hurt
- 28:47Speaker 1: that you become a rational and you know, you say
- 28:51Speaker 1: shit that you probably resent or you could resent later
- 28:55Speaker 1: or Yeah. That's that real moment kind of ability to
- 29:01Speaker 1: be able to self regulate, yeah, with nobody knowing that
- 29:05Speaker 1: that's what you're actually doing.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 2: And what's ironic is that is often one of my
- 29:10Speaker 2: talking points and things that I workshop is around that
- 29:14Speaker 2: from the boxing ring, but it's something that I still
- 29:18Speaker 2: need to confront in other areas. It's so funny how
- 29:21Speaker 2: we do that, where I go, oh, here's this thing,
- 29:23Speaker 2: here's an example. I can remember how it felt, so
- 29:25Speaker 2: I can share it with you, I can talk about it,
- 29:27Speaker 2: and then in the moment as I'm presenting maybe that
- 29:30Speaker 2: exact idea, I am in the middle of a version
- 29:34Speaker 2: of it.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Doing that's Yeah, that's that's a mind fucking itself. But like,
- 29:41Speaker 1: if you think right about everyone who rants, and I mean,
- 29:45Speaker 1: you know someone who writes a fucking four or five
- 29:47Speaker 1: hundred word rants on social media. I was about to
- 29:51Speaker 1: give a shout out to someone who does it all
- 29:53Speaker 1: the time. That would be bad. I want to do that.
- 29:56Speaker 1: That would be bad. But it's like, you know that,
- 30:02Speaker 1: And I'm not saying this is well. I will say
- 30:05Speaker 1: I don't think it's a great habit. That's just what
- 30:08Speaker 1: I think. But I'm not naming a topic or a person,
- 30:11Speaker 1: but that you know that they are in that moment.
- 30:15Speaker 1: It's emotional and they are thinking obviously through you know,
- 30:23Speaker 1: or seeing things through their lens, and they're navigating the
- 30:26Speaker 1: words that they're putting on the page with their own
- 30:30Speaker 1: kind of beliefs and values and ideas, and this is
- 30:33Speaker 1: wrong and this is right, and I am right about
- 30:35Speaker 1: this and they are wrong about that. And I spoke
- 30:38Speaker 1: about this the other day when I put up a
- 30:40Speaker 1: post essentially, and I was about, you know, people who
- 30:44Speaker 1: write on something some big statement I've shared this once before,
- 30:48Speaker 1: sorry everyone, but some big proclamation or dissertation about why
- 30:52Speaker 1: this person's a fucking idiot. You can guess who it
- 30:55Speaker 1: might often be about, or the world's this, or the
- 30:58Speaker 1: government's that, or today right, And I get it, like
- 31:02Speaker 1: I understand why that happen I can totally understand that
- 31:06Speaker 1: person's reason while disagreeing one hundred percent with what they're saying. Right. Also,
- 31:14Speaker 1: I can see someone write or hear someone say something
- 31:18Speaker 1: that I really align with, but understand the people that
- 31:22Speaker 1: disagree with it. Right. And this is the problem in
- 31:26Speaker 1: you know, So there's people right now. I have seen
- 31:28Speaker 1: many of them since I wrote this. When I first
- 31:31Speaker 1: wrote it, it was like I'd seen two people in
- 31:33Speaker 1: two days say give a big grant, and then at
- 31:36Speaker 1: the end they say, if you disagree with me, please
- 31:39Speaker 1: unfriend me, don't follow me, which is also another way
- 31:43Speaker 1: of saying I only want people who agree with me
- 31:46Speaker 1: to be my friends. I only want people who support
- 31:50Speaker 1: my ideology to comment or be on I'm like, I
- 31:56Speaker 1: think that's a really bad idea. I think you should
- 32:00Speaker 1: really be around all kinds of people. If someone thinks
- 32:04Speaker 1: that Donald Trump's a genius and you think is you know,
- 32:09Speaker 1: the Antichrist, that's okay. You don't have to join their team.
- 32:14Speaker 1: They don't need to join your team. But it is
- 32:17Speaker 1: really good to be informed. Now, if you live in
- 32:20Speaker 1: an echo chamber, a self created echo chamber, guess what,
- 32:23Speaker 1: you are not informed. You are programmed because you only
- 32:28Speaker 1: listen to people like you, You only trust and respect
- 32:31Speaker 1: people like you. Well, one, that's kind of egotistical and arrogant,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and I understand because it's also it's that, but it's
- 32:37Speaker 1: also fear. I get it. But the chances are, as
- 32:41Speaker 1: I've said many times, you are probably wrong about half
- 32:46Speaker 1: the time. Like if you think something and other people
- 32:48Speaker 1: think something else, I'm pretty sure you're not one hundred
- 32:52Speaker 1: percent right all the time and everyone else is zero
- 32:55Speaker 1: percent right every time. So you've got to go, let's
- 32:58Speaker 1: just be practical, realistic, get out of my ego and
- 33:02Speaker 1: my fear and my bullshits, and go Have I been
- 33:06Speaker 1: wrong about things before every day? Yeah? Cool? Have you
- 33:10Speaker 1: had really strong, fucking foundational beliefs that was essentially a
- 33:15Speaker 1: part of your identity and then you changed? Yes, I've
- 33:20Speaker 1: definitely had that. There were things that I would have
- 33:23Speaker 1: fucking I would have gone to war over, And now
- 33:26Speaker 1: I think I was a fuck word. I was wrong,
- 33:29Speaker 1: but I was wrong, And so no one wants to
- 33:31Speaker 1: go by the way Tiff was right. I was wrong,
- 33:37Speaker 1: and without going oh but here's my you know, this
- 33:41Speaker 1: is no just I was wrong the end, and for
- 33:44Speaker 1: people that I misled or I offended. All right, you
- 33:46Speaker 1: know whatever, I'm sorry I got it wrong, because you
- 33:49Speaker 1: know what, I'm a human and I get things wrong.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Or I might think the same thing and believe. I'm
- 33:54Speaker 1: not saying we shouldn't have hardwired beliefs. I'm not shouldn't
- 33:57Speaker 1: saying we shouldn't have opinions. I'm just saying that it's
- 34:01Speaker 1: probably a good idea to keep some humility around it.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And you know, like everyone thinks they're open minded unless
- 34:10Speaker 1: you agree with what they disagree with what they think.
- 34:13Speaker 1: You go, well, you're not open minded. Well, you're open
- 34:16Speaker 1: minded with things you don't care about or don't know about,
- 34:19Speaker 1: but when it comes to the things that you think
- 34:21Speaker 1: you think are true, then you're closed minded. Ergo, don't
- 34:25Speaker 1: follow me, don't talk to me, only follow me if
- 34:28Speaker 1: you're like me, right, the concept of an awareness bigger
- 34:33Speaker 1: than you and really being objective, which is pretty impossible,
- 34:38Speaker 1: so I'll say that, But truly open minded, that's a
- 34:41Speaker 1: real hard gig.
- 34:43Speaker 2: It's the amount of times I've had conversations with people
- 34:47Speaker 2: and people that So you and I both talk a
- 34:51Speaker 2: lot about psychology, and.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I do a lot of gas adversity in.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Trauma and our minds and our psyche on the show,
- 34:59Speaker 2: and I'm fast by it, and I'm fascinated by understanding
- 35:02Speaker 2: why we behave the way we behave and what story
- 35:06Speaker 2: led to that, And so I'll have these conversations with
- 35:09Speaker 2: people about that, and the amount of times I've also
- 35:12Speaker 2: at times had conversations with those same people where they're
- 35:16Speaker 2: talking about a person and they're judging the behavior, or
- 35:20Speaker 2: they're making comments that disregard everything that has been a
- 35:25Speaker 2: learning or a point of discussion from these other types
- 35:28Speaker 2: of conversations. And I'm always astounded by that because i think,
- 35:32Speaker 2: hang on that, where did that knowledge go or where
- 35:36Speaker 2: did that understanding, you know, in those previous conversations, and
- 35:40Speaker 2: now we're just back to judging someone without any account
- 35:45Speaker 2: to what they might have experienced.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yes, yes, and think about even the idea of I
- 35:54Speaker 1: think objectivity is a confusing like being truly being open minded,
- 35:59Speaker 1: which is like where just to arm a blank canvas? No,
- 36:02Speaker 1: you're not like I'm talking about this, right, I'm studying this.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I'm am I open minded? No in that, let me
- 36:13Speaker 1: qualify that. Am I completely open minded? No? Am I
- 36:17Speaker 1: much more open minded? Slash objective slash less concerned with
- 36:22Speaker 1: being right infinitely more than I used to be. I'm
- 36:26Speaker 1: not saying, go me, I'm great, I'm going to I
- 36:29Speaker 1: just realize, like, if I'm being honest, I've fucked up
- 36:31Speaker 1: a lot of things. I've done businesses that didn't work.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I've done speaking engagements that were crap. I've given advice
- 36:39Speaker 1: that was wrong. I've had meetings that blew up. I've
- 36:42Speaker 1: had I've had poor outcomes with coaching. I've had why Well,
- 36:48Speaker 1: because I'm like everyone, I'm a little bit broken, a
- 36:51Speaker 1: little bit brilliant at times depends, and I get shited wrong,
- 36:54Speaker 1: and I'm going to continue to get shit wrong. And
- 36:56Speaker 1: this just this honesty we've gone. I'm going to get
- 36:59Speaker 1: shit wrong, could be wrong now. But you think about
- 37:02Speaker 1: the concept of objectivity, is that there is nothing, no
- 37:07Speaker 1: existing thought, value, belief, personality, trade. You know that that
- 37:14Speaker 1: would influence how you see something. Well, that's just not
- 37:17Speaker 1: true for anyone, because everyone has got certain beliefs and
- 37:21Speaker 1: ideas and values and expectations and desires and culture and
- 37:27Speaker 1: personality and a unique brain that sees the world a
- 37:30Speaker 1: certain way. And go on and more and more and more,
- 37:33Speaker 1: and stories and experiences logged. You know, and I know
- 37:37Speaker 1: there are certain topics that I won't talk to you
- 37:39Speaker 1: about now, but there are a couple of topics where
- 37:42Speaker 1: you fucking fire up in seven seconds. Right. You are
- 37:46Speaker 1: not objective, You are definitely biased, and you definitely have
- 37:50Speaker 1: a strong and someone else can go but what about this,
- 37:52Speaker 1: and you be like fuck that because this right, and
- 37:55Speaker 1: that's cool. That doesn't make you bad, that makes you tiff,
- 37:59Speaker 1: you know, depending on what it is, I would probably
- 38:02Speaker 1: do the same. But yeah, that kind of that bigger
- 38:07Speaker 1: than you awareness, like ah, this is yeah, so this
- 38:11Speaker 1: is like which is I mean, as we said before,
- 38:14Speaker 1: there are some people who might still be hanging in
- 38:17Speaker 1: here going fuck and how this is so boring talk
- 38:22Speaker 1: about something interesting for God's sake right now. If you've
- 38:26Speaker 1: still hung in and you think that, well, you're a
- 38:29Speaker 1: glutton for punishment. But then there are other people going,
- 38:32Speaker 1: oh this is this helps me? Like this is interesting
- 38:36Speaker 1: because on a level, we are all the same. We
- 38:39Speaker 1: all self sabotage, we all get in our way, we
- 38:41Speaker 1: all have moments of brilliance. We all have a moment
- 38:44Speaker 1: where we're a prick. We all have a moment where
- 38:46Speaker 1: we're a gift to somebody. Sometimes we do smart things,
- 38:50Speaker 1: sometimes dumb things. Sometimes we're strategic, sometimes we're emotional. You know,
- 38:55Speaker 1: we're all looking through our own individual lens at the world.
- 38:59Speaker 1: There's what's happening, and then there's our story. And so
- 39:02Speaker 1: when you start to understand your own mind and your
- 39:06Speaker 1: own stories and your own kind of bias, like, having
- 39:11Speaker 1: bias is not bad. Having bias is just who we are.
- 39:16Speaker 1: So I'm quite if I'm being open and honest, I
- 39:20Speaker 1: have a Christian bias because I was raised in that,
- 39:24Speaker 1: you know, and can I acknowledge that a lot of
- 39:29Speaker 1: Christian religions, denominations, I should say, under the banner of
- 39:36Speaker 1: and a lot of the practices and habits and even
- 39:40Speaker 1: kind of dogma around Christianity, I think it's bullshit. I
- 39:45Speaker 1: think it's destructive. Some of it, I think a lot
- 39:47Speaker 1: of it is beautiful wisdom. But if I'd done a
- 39:51Speaker 1: deep dive into a lot of other religions or traditions,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I would say the same. I'd say, there's stuff in
- 39:59Speaker 1: here that I don't think so and then there's like,
- 40:02Speaker 1: look at this, this is gold. Read this this is transformative,
- 40:06Speaker 1: you know. But I'll read something that's transformative and someone
- 40:10Speaker 1: else that will be double dutch.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I want to ask you back on the podcast front,
- 40:17Speaker 2: what was hard for you? But also what has been
- 40:21Speaker 2: your why Because you've done over two thousand episodes, You've
- 40:25Speaker 2: done you know, daily for a very long time, and
- 40:29Speaker 2: that's not easy. And you know, I know that's not
- 40:33Speaker 2: making millions and millions of dollars. So there's a really
- 40:36Speaker 2: strong wine I'd love to know.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, So for me, it's not a thing. I think
- 40:41Speaker 1: it's multiple things. So I'll just start with the the curious.
- 40:45Speaker 1: So part of its curiosity, part of it's altruistic, part
- 40:50Speaker 1: of its personal development for me, and part of it's
- 40:57Speaker 1: are strategic and commercial, so not in order of importance,
- 41:02Speaker 1: but like, I like meeting people. I like having meaningful conversations.
- 41:09Speaker 1: And I know that's very cliche, but that is true.
- 41:12Speaker 1: And I think what other people might not think is
- 41:15Speaker 1: because okay, how do I say this? I think I
- 41:19Speaker 1: am operationally, not inherently or genetically, but day to day
- 41:25Speaker 1: operation and function. I think it's not the right word,
- 41:29Speaker 1: but in inverted comm is smarter than when I started
- 41:32Speaker 1: the show because I've spoken to so many people who
- 41:36Speaker 1: have a kind of intelligence or skill or gift or
- 41:39Speaker 1: awareness or knowledge that I do not have. So I
- 41:43Speaker 1: always say, hang around with people who drag you up, right, Well,
- 41:46Speaker 1: that's me every episode, you know. I know it's a
- 41:49Speaker 1: little been a little bit. Well, I was going to
- 41:52Speaker 1: say it's been a bit me teacher, you student. But
- 41:56Speaker 1: there have been times when intentionally or not, you've taught
- 41:59Speaker 1: me things or like full disclosure. We've spoken about this
- 42:04Speaker 1: because we're open books, because you and I are very
- 42:07Speaker 1: much almost like pseudo dad daughter or pseudo big brother
- 42:12Speaker 1: younger sister. Right, so there's been times when you and
- 42:15Speaker 1: I have had the shits with each other. Right, it's
- 42:17Speaker 1: like fuck, you know, fuck you a little bit, not
- 42:21Speaker 1: in a you know, but we've had to sort through stuff,
- 42:24Speaker 1: and I've got times where I've kind of I've had
- 42:27Speaker 1: to learn I've had to read the Tifth Manual because
- 42:30Speaker 1: the Craig Manual is not the Tifth Manual. But when
- 42:34Speaker 1: I talk to you in a way that I might
- 42:36Speaker 1: talk to me if there was another me, it doesn't
- 42:38Speaker 1: fucking work. And I also know what you value, and
- 42:42Speaker 1: so I try to give you what you value and
- 42:45Speaker 1: speak your language, not because I'm being strategic, but because
- 42:50Speaker 1: that's the kind of an expression of love is working
- 42:53Speaker 1: with someone in a way that resonates with them. And
- 42:58Speaker 1: it's like when you put up your post about your
- 43:01Speaker 1: thousand's episode. You know, I just put up something short.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I don't know what it was, something nice with it,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know, like one sentence, and then you wrote back
- 43:09Speaker 1: all this super nice stuff to me, which was much appreciated.
- 43:13Speaker 1: But it's like just for me being able to have
- 43:16Speaker 1: meaningful conversations like this where you're constantly in the moment,
- 43:25Speaker 1: but you're also assessing where we're at. I'm also thinking
- 43:28Speaker 1: about how long have we been talking, how long should
- 43:31Speaker 1: this go for? How do I wind it up without
- 43:34Speaker 1: it sounding like we're halfway through something when we wind
- 43:37Speaker 1: it up. So there are so many cognitive factors at
- 43:41Speaker 1: play in terms of managing the situation, but then also
- 43:49Speaker 1: just the experience. So for me, it's just something that
- 43:51Speaker 1: I really enjoy. And yeah, there are times when the
- 43:57Speaker 1: new project is commercial great, and there are times when
- 44:03Speaker 1: that's not the case. But I don't like me doing
- 44:07Speaker 1: this is not about money. If we make good money,
- 44:10Speaker 1: that's fucking fantastic. And we've got sponsors and we're partnered
- 44:14Speaker 1: with Nova Entertainment and all of that, and I value them,
- 44:18Speaker 1: appreciate them, and value every dollar that a sponsor pays
- 44:21Speaker 1: all that kind of shit. But if I would never
- 44:24Speaker 1: do this for money, because I can make more money
- 44:27Speaker 1: doing one speaking gig than thirty podcasts. Kind of, it depends,
- 44:31Speaker 1: you know, it depends on next. I genuinely like finding
- 44:39Speaker 1: out about people and what drives them, and you know
- 44:43Speaker 1: how they talking to somebody like what's his name, old mate,
- 44:49Speaker 1: Professor Jeffrey Reddicker from Harvard Medical School, which he's known
- 44:54Speaker 1: the guy that started Netflix? Mark what is his surname? Anyway,
- 45:00Speaker 1: Like talking to that dude, it's like this guy built
- 45:02Speaker 1: he created Netflix. He's a billionaire, and he's talking to
- 45:06Speaker 1: me like we're two blokes at the cafe. And it's like,
- 45:10Speaker 1: I don't have access to these people ever. But when
- 45:13Speaker 1: you've got a podcast that ranks okay, and you've got
- 45:16Speaker 1: two thousand episodes in the can, and you send them
- 45:19Speaker 1: a list of like here's fifty people that you will
- 45:22Speaker 1: know that I've interviewed, and so you build this whole,
- 45:25Speaker 1: you know, then selfishly, I get access to people that
- 45:29Speaker 1: I would never meet and I don't have to you know,
- 45:32Speaker 1: it's not like, ah, I'm seeing what's his name anyway,
- 45:36Speaker 1: it'll come to me. But Mark who started Netflix.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Rand Mark Randelf, Yes, thank you.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Thank you. But I've got to pay him ten grand
- 45:44Speaker 1: for twenty minutes of his time to talk to him.
- 45:47Speaker 1: And he was so that guy was so generous and
- 45:49Speaker 1: so kind. And I said to him, I don't know
- 45:51Speaker 1: if you remember this, but you might not have been
- 45:53Speaker 1: on it. And I said, at the end your ace,
- 45:55Speaker 1: I go, can we be friends? He goes, of course,
- 45:58Speaker 1: And I go, when I come to Colorado, I think
- 46:00Speaker 1: Colorado where he lives in the middle of the wilderness
- 46:02Speaker 1: and he works two days a week, right, but he
- 46:05Speaker 1: works like sixteen hours each day, and then he has
- 46:08Speaker 1: five days where it's just all about his kids, his wife,
- 46:11Speaker 1: his grandkids, kayaking, mountain biking because he lives in the
- 46:15Speaker 1: middle of nowhere. And I'm like, this dude has got
- 46:17Speaker 1: it sorted out because he doesn't do nothing. He works,
- 46:22Speaker 1: but he's incredibly productive and efficient for two days and
- 46:27Speaker 1: then not and his team is not allowed to contact
- 46:30Speaker 1: him for the five days unless the joints burning down.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, he's got that sorted And just that
- 46:36Speaker 1: encounter with me Mark Randolph here, that's it. He made
- 46:39Speaker 1: a bigger impact. I can't remember his name, you know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: but then like being weird, like Johnny Raffo, who's no
- 46:48Speaker 1: longer with us, I'm so glad that I got to
- 46:51Speaker 1: meet him and we connected and I loved him and
- 46:55Speaker 1: he was so great. And Danny Frawley who was on
- 46:58Speaker 1: the show, who's no longer with us, who I trained
- 47:01Speaker 1: him at some killed her and we were friends and
- 47:04Speaker 1: it was great to have. We had a talk of
- 47:06Speaker 1: a deep, kind of almost heart wrenching story about mental health,
- 47:11Speaker 1: you know. And then sadly he passed away five six
- 47:14Speaker 1: months later. And then doctor Gladys McCrary, who at the
- 47:17Speaker 1: time was one hundred and two or three when I
- 47:19Speaker 1: interviewed her, and so beautiful and so much wisdom. And
- 47:23Speaker 1: I'm like, who gets to talk to one hundred and
- 47:26Speaker 1: three year old that's sharp as attack and smart and
- 47:32Speaker 1: was born when she passed away a year or two ago,
- 47:35Speaker 1: was born, like when cars were new, like cars were
- 47:38Speaker 1: a revolution, you know, planes were just literally getting off
- 47:42Speaker 1: the ground. You know, it's fucking amazing. And you know,
- 47:48Speaker 1: so many of those like those moments that I have
- 47:54Speaker 1: and they're recorded. And Simon Hammond, a friend of mine
- 47:58Speaker 1: who owned an amazing speaking agency and wrote a few books.
- 48:01Speaker 1: And Nima, my friend the pharmacist, who we did probably
- 48:06Speaker 1: ten to fifteen episodes, and he's passed away. And it's
- 48:09Speaker 1: like there's just been so many magic moments that for
- 48:13Speaker 1: me are just gifts, and you know, yeah, it's just
- 48:19Speaker 1: I would not I would not stop this. There would
- 48:23Speaker 1: be have to be you know, if no one wanted
- 48:25Speaker 1: to listen, then okay, you know, but I don't know, yeah,
- 48:31Speaker 1: just yeah, for me, it's been a gift that I
- 48:33Speaker 1: didn't it was like an unexpected gift. Probably started off far.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Let's do this thing because I'm not bad at talking.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I've worked in radio. I can interview people. But this
- 48:43Speaker 1: is radio without breaks, without fucking weather checks, without station idea,
- 48:48Speaker 1: without we.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Get a few station ideas. Let's be honest.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Good There at SAPs from the new project coming at
- 48:55Speaker 1: your live. It's currently five pasts out. I think top
- 48:57Speaker 1: fourteen degree today. Our big Pine City by the Bay
- 49:01Speaker 1: coming up next. It's tiffing a bullshit, but first a
- 49:03Speaker 1: little bit of a Casey in the sunshine man walking
- 49:06Speaker 1: on Sunshine. You're welcome. I'm working. No, I don't do
- 49:10Speaker 1: any of that.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Tell me what has been the hardest for you.
- 49:19Speaker 1: What's been the hardest for me? Okay, what comes to mind.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Dealing with negative feedback has been interesting, but I like it.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Somebody wrote the other day and I'm not at all
- 49:35Speaker 1: mad at him, that was a really good podcast and
- 49:38Speaker 1: whoever it was, the guest actually got a chance to talk.
- 49:43Speaker 1: And I'm part of me wanted to go fuck you,
- 49:46Speaker 1: And then I'm like, which, whoever, that was definitely not
- 49:49Speaker 1: fuck you. But I'm like, yeah, I still do that,
- 49:52Speaker 1: Like I still I'm like, oh, fuck, you know, like
- 49:56Speaker 1: I still make mistakes, Like I'm pretty good at this.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I guess yes. But if someone said, you know, like
- 50:03Speaker 1: you've done a lot, and you know, do you reckon
- 50:06Speaker 1: you're somewhere near ten, I'd go, no, I reconom a six.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I economic six. Yeah, and some days I might produce
- 50:12Speaker 1: an eight or an eight and a half, or the
- 50:14Speaker 1: end product might be an eight or an eight and
- 50:16Speaker 1: a half. As as people know, Melissa ranks every episode
- 50:23Speaker 1: or the ones that she listens to. But yeah, I
- 50:27Speaker 1: think that I think developing like a flow and a cadence,
- 50:34Speaker 1: learning to be as natural as you would in a
- 50:38Speaker 1: one on one conversation at a cafe like we are. Now,
- 50:42Speaker 1: have you.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Have you done any structured like strategic listening or adapting
- 50:53Speaker 2: how you run a conversation or trying to get better
- 50:57Speaker 2: in that way?
- 51:02Speaker 1: Incidentally, because like if somebody says, I love that show
- 51:07Speaker 1: so much, like somebody said the other day, I've listened
- 51:09Speaker 1: to all of your podcasts. Oh it was the one
- 51:12Speaker 1: where Bobby coached me.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that was great And.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Bobby coached me and I did you listen to that?
- 51:20Speaker 1: Of course, I'm like, I don't know if I want
- 51:24Speaker 1: to do this, Like we're talking about like we've spoken
- 51:27Speaker 1: about leadership and coaching and self awareness and you know,
- 51:31Speaker 1: how to community and we'll talk. Him and I were
- 51:34Speaker 1: talking afair about coaching, and I said, do you want
- 51:38Speaker 1: to coach me? And I'll take off the typ hat.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I'll take off the Craig Harper faking hat, and I'll
- 51:45Speaker 1: take off the you know, the host hat, and I
- 51:48Speaker 1: will be a client and I'll be real and I'll
- 51:52Speaker 1: be I won't. I won't, I won't be strategic. I'll
- 51:57Speaker 1: just be vulnerable and what yeah, and I got I
- 52:03Speaker 1: don't know if I cried a fucking I cried fucking
- 52:07Speaker 1: every tenth episode I'm pathetic, but I definitely got emotional
- 52:12Speaker 1: and it was definitely hard, and he definitely asked a
- 52:16Speaker 1: few questions that I felt like going, fuck, you don't
- 52:20Speaker 1: ask me that. Like I didn't, but I felt like
- 52:23Speaker 1: stopping it and going, nah, I'm not to go on there.
- 52:25Speaker 1: But I went there. Yeah, and then yeah, a few
- 52:32Speaker 1: people like, we got a lot of feedback. Compared to
- 52:36Speaker 1: the normal amount of feedback, We've probably got three or
- 52:38Speaker 1: four times. We've probably got three or four or five
- 52:40Speaker 1: times the likes. If you're wondering where I'm talking about
- 52:44Speaker 1: our Facebook page? Did you project? Uh? Facebook page? Project group? Yeah,
- 52:51Speaker 1: And like I listened to that and I went, oh,
- 52:54Speaker 1: and I did not enjoy listening to it. But I
- 52:58Speaker 1: want to hear what it is that people like, you know,
- 53:02Speaker 1: and it's always you know, it's like some people really
- 53:07Speaker 1: love when I do a thirty minute solo and I'm
- 53:11Speaker 1: essentially doing a fucking pep talk. Get your shit together,
- 53:15Speaker 1: stop fucking around. You know, I love you, but don't
- 53:18Speaker 1: be a fuck with kind of thing. Right, you don't
- 53:21Speaker 1: need to cheer squad, You don't need to put up
- 53:23Speaker 1: a picture of your fucking breakfast. Right, you don't need
- 53:26Speaker 1: to do that, you know, and people some people will
- 53:29Speaker 1: not like that because that doesn't suit them or they're
- 53:32Speaker 1: not ready for that chat or whatever, and other people like,
- 53:36Speaker 1: thank you so much. That is exactly what I needed
- 53:39Speaker 1: to hear. And that's so you've got to be a generalist,
- 53:43Speaker 1: because you you're definitely not. You know, it's like the
- 53:46Speaker 1: biggest podcast in the world, Joe Rogan. I hear more
- 53:50Speaker 1: hate about Joe Rogan. Like the people that go to me, oh,
- 53:53Speaker 1: what a fucking and generally the people let go what
- 53:55Speaker 1: a fucking idiot? Have never listened to one episode. But
- 53:59Speaker 1: what they've is they've seen clips here and there, and
- 54:02Speaker 1: they based there there. You know, it's like they didn't
- 54:06Speaker 1: see the film. They saw a thirty second reel of
- 54:09Speaker 1: the film, and now they're an expert commentator on the
- 54:13Speaker 1: film that goes for three hours and they saw thirty seconds.
- 54:16Speaker 1: But I don't like people have literally said to me,
- 54:19Speaker 1: I don't need to listen to a podcast. He's an idiot.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, now, I'm not promoting Joe Rogan. I'm
- 54:25Speaker 1: just going I listened to some I'm like, not interested
- 54:28Speaker 1: in the topic, not interested in the guests. See you later.
- 54:31Speaker 1: And then somewhere he's got some brainiac on and people
- 54:35Speaker 1: think he's dumb based on it some perception. I'm like,
- 54:39Speaker 1: I could give you some podcasts where you listen and
- 54:43Speaker 1: yes he swears, and yes he fucking smokes cigars and
- 54:46Speaker 1: occasionally dope on the thing, and yes he's a UFC
- 54:50Speaker 1: commentator and interviewer, and yes he owns a comedy club. Yeah,
- 54:56Speaker 1: but you know, it's like, Okay, you don't need to
- 55:00Speaker 1: like him, but don't. Don't don't think you understand somebody
- 55:06Speaker 1: and then run him down because you saw seven seconds
- 55:10Speaker 1: of something that didn't resonate with you. Or you've got
- 55:13Speaker 1: a friend that you really like and respect who says
- 55:16Speaker 1: Joe Rogan's a fucking idiot, So therefore Joe Rogan's a
- 55:19Speaker 1: fucking idiot. You know. Do I have a cringe at
- 55:21Speaker 1: what he says? Yes? Do I ever get a light
- 55:23Speaker 1: bulb moment? Yes? I reckon.
- 55:27Speaker 2: We have been primed. I did a rant on this recently.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I reckon, But I reckon the world is priming us
- 55:33Speaker 2: to make fast judgments and hit outrage just in general.
- 55:41Speaker 2: You know, like I talked about how everybody is tear,
- 55:44Speaker 2: how we tear other people down. Yes, we can't just
- 55:47Speaker 2: have an opinion. We have to now stitch somebody else's
- 55:52Speaker 2: content into I don't do it, so I shouldn't be
- 55:55Speaker 2: saying ow or we.
- 55:56Speaker 3: But that's why our talk.
- 55:58Speaker 2: We stitch people's point of view a tiny snippet of it,
- 56:02Speaker 2: and then we say why it's shit, So we tear
- 56:05Speaker 2: other people down to because and the algorithm loves it
- 56:09Speaker 2: and we get all these accolades. That is priming human behavior.
- 56:12Speaker 2: That goes back to the cognitive bias that you talked
- 56:15Speaker 2: about before, and no fucking good can come of it.
- 56:18Speaker 2: And we know it's shit, but we're being it as
- 56:21Speaker 2: a fucking as humanity, as a human race.
- 56:26Speaker 1: M it's not cool. You know, this is in the
- 56:30Speaker 1: ballpark of what you're talking about. I just want to
- 56:33Speaker 1: share something which sorry, folks, this will be a little
- 56:35Speaker 1: bit laborious, but it might be interesting. So I have
- 56:39Speaker 1: this conundrum at the moment with social media and people know,
- 56:45Speaker 1: you know, I don't know, I might, I don't know
- 56:48Speaker 1: how many words? What's the I think we talk like
- 56:51Speaker 1: something like one hundred to one hundred and fifty words
- 56:53Speaker 1: a minute in a normal conversation, or a bit more.
- 56:55Speaker 1: But let's say over an hour, what's sixty times one
- 56:58Speaker 1: hundred and six thousand words six seven eight thousand words
- 57:01Speaker 1: in a one hour podcast something in that ballpark, right,
- 57:04Speaker 1: And in the course of that hour, I might swear
- 57:09Speaker 1: I don't know ten times. I'm not sure. So there's
- 57:13Speaker 1: ten swear words and seven thousand non swear words. People
- 57:17Speaker 1: just some people will send me messages about the ten words,
- 57:20Speaker 1: and so the ten words they ignore the seven thousand, right,
- 57:25Speaker 1: and all they invest their energy in is the ten
- 57:27Speaker 1: words or the five words. But the irony is in
- 57:32Speaker 1: other forums, like on social on Facebook for example, Like
- 57:38Speaker 1: the other day, I did a test and I'd written
- 57:41Speaker 1: two posts, and the first post was essentially about the
- 57:47Speaker 1: message underneath was how to utilize more of your potential? Well,
- 57:52Speaker 1: I work in the human behavior develop your potential, think better,
- 57:56Speaker 1: do better, be better, psychology space, right, And so I
- 58:00Speaker 1: gave eight points to help people move the needle on
- 58:05Speaker 1: being able to tap into their own potential with the
- 58:08Speaker 1: understanding that you're not going to get any more potential.
- 58:11Speaker 1: You're not going to get more You might get more skill,
- 58:13Speaker 1: more awareness, more understanding, more knowledge, whatever, more resources, but
- 58:17Speaker 1: your potential is set. How much of it, will you exploit?
- 58:21Speaker 1: So I wrote out these eight what I think are
- 58:23Speaker 1: really good points. Now I just want to give the comment.
- 58:29Speaker 1: So on that post. Now, I've got nearly seventy thousand
- 58:33Speaker 1: followers on Instagram right forty seven likes on this I
- 58:38Speaker 1: think is a very solid post. One comment, two people
- 58:42Speaker 1: shared it on their own platform, and eleven people shared
- 58:45Speaker 1: it with someone else about Within the same hour, I
- 58:49Speaker 1: wrote another post, and I just knew that this post
- 58:55Speaker 1: would go all right, but I'm sick of having to.
- 58:58Speaker 1: It's like if I write two posts the same post
- 59:02Speaker 1: and one's got air force C in it, I'm not
- 59:04Speaker 1: even going to say the word everyone, So there you go,
- 59:06Speaker 1: there you go. You're fucking welcome.
- 59:09Speaker 3: You've said it.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I'm joking. But so I wrote the C word right now.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I wrote the C word, and then I had an arrow.
- 59:19Speaker 1: So the heading is that word, and then not always
- 59:22Speaker 1: an insult, and then so it is the first line
- 59:26Speaker 1: is then I'm kind of giving it like a breakdown.
- 59:29Speaker 1: C word not good, funny sea word that's good, smart
- 59:34Speaker 1: C word, context dependant, good C word, social approval, sneaky
- 59:40Speaker 1: sea word usually bad, smamy S word, socially repellent. Now
- 59:47Speaker 1: Now this has been up for less time than the
- 59:50Speaker 1: other one, and I literally said the C word. One's
- 59:55Speaker 1: seven times. Now three and a half thousand likes, fifteen
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: thousand and seven hundred shares, so fifteen thousand. Now that's
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: not the like. By the way, there's been nearly quarter
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: of a million people that looked at this post views. Right,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: it's only been up a few days, so over fifteen
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and a half thousand people shared this message. But the
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: other message, which was really good advice and sound kind
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: of coaching and psychology, nobody. And this is my conundrum. Right,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: And by the way, nearly one hundred comments, one hundred
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: and eighty shares that people on their own page. They
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: put it on their own page, and then fifteen and
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: a half fifteen seven people sent it to someone, right,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: and heading towards quarter of a million views. Now here's
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: my conundrum. When I don't swear, my numbers go down,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: like literally, my followers drop off. If I say the
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: same message, we're swearing goes up. My I forget here
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: it is? How on? Let me find it? So this one,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: which is not too much swearing, but of course life's
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: a shit show. And then it's awesome and then you're
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: sad and then happy, and then it's lunchtime. Your challenge
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: is not to create a perfect life, but rather to
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: thrive in the inevitable imperfection of it all. But the
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: fifth word in that is shit. Now that's been shared
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: nearly thirty thousand times. And let me just look at
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: the numbers. Two million and seventy eight, six hundred and
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: thirty four views. Right if I put the same post
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: up with no swearing, it would not reach twenty thousand views,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: so twenty two million. So this is this is tricky,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: and so that's and right now I don't know the solution.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I don't know the solution because I really don't want
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: to be I just swear because that's how I talk.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I don't swear for effect, I don't, you know. And
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: there are times when the situation it's inappropriate that I swear,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: so I don't. But if you're with me at the gym,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: if I'm with the crab, if I'm with your bloke,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: if we're you know, I swear. I don't swear all
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the time, but we might work out for an hour
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: and I say fuck four times. Whatever it is right.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I might go to a corporate gig. I say it's
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: zero because I have enough awareness to go, this is
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: inappropriate in this spot with these people getting paid this
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: money doing this job. And so yeah, it's like the
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: human algorithm, and you go, well, the main negative feedback
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I get. I get way more positive negative. Thank you everyone.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: But the main negative feedback I get is about swearing.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: And then if you look at my books, I've written
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: seven books and the one with fuck on the front
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: cover has outsold all the other books all together sales
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: by about five up fifty thousand sales with Stop Fucking Around,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: and in Australia a bestseller is ten thousand, also self published.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: It's interesting. It's been interesting to know if.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: It lands differently in a written form than people hearing it,
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: you know, like because obviously there's a different demographic on
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Instagram than there is in a podcast. You have a
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: different audience in those platforms. But it would be a
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: really interesting exercise to have the same audience and.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: Write with the.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Same amount of swear words in your writing and have
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: them read it as to listen to it and see
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: if that if the response was the same.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's I mean, if.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: I swear a lot way too much for a very
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: feminine lass like myself, you know, lady like.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Lady, hey, can you get chipped back on?
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: But I remember a time when when I started editing
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: my podcast, word I don't like the sound of Quite
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: often I.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Like the sound of females swearing. It's not as it's
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: not nice, but I do it.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: But I started swearing less on the show, and if
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: I remember in the early days cutting some of the swearing.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Out because I was like, oh, just sounds terrible.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: I like saying it doesn't land that way in conversation,
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: but I didn't like listening to it.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: So it's interesting, Yeah, I think also like, what's that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: old dude professor something ash? What's his name? Amtmi? This
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: old beautiful Indian professor. So is this combination of like
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: academia and intellect and spirituality and like my favorite kind
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: of person. Right, I'm like, oh, I could just sit
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: at his feet like a kid and listen to him.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: And the moment that I got on, I had a
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: distinct awareness that it would be totally inappropriate, right, And
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: so I didn't. So you kind of read the room
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: a bit, you know, and you know there's that Yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: I don't know. But anyway, that's a conundrum. I don't know.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna it's hard because I don't
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: want to. Like sometimes I'll write something and I know
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: if I put a C word in there, it's going
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: to go way better. Yeah, and more people will read it,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you know, more brand better exposure, da da da da da.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, so what do
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I do for a job? My main income is speaking
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: to groups, right, I go, well, the more, well, like,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: we just got an inquiry today unless it goes to me.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Just before we went on, she goes, are you going
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: to You just got an email from a New South
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: Wales police and for a moment my sphincter snap like
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: could you fucking finish that sentence? You know? But they
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: potentially want me to go and do some work with them.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: But I'm thinking, there's no way I'm getting that gig
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: unless I've got the profile that I've got, you know.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: And yeah, You're like, it's like, well it's and it
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: can sounded egotistical work. The bottom line is the more
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: if you are a speaker, you're selling your time, your knowledge,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: your skills. But if you're I'm not saying I'm brilliant.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: But let's say you're a brilliant speaker, but nobody fucking
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: knows who you are because you have no public presence.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: No one knows you. It doesn't matter how brilliant you are,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: you're not getting gigs. Yeah, so it's that conundrum. Well,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I've got to work, I've got to pay the bills,
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: and if fifty thousand followers is good, then one hundred
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: thousand is better because it you know, and it might
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: only increase it a little bit. But you know, we
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: ninety nine point nine percent of I would say, I'd
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: say probably ninety nine percent of people who listened to this,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: which I'm completely happy with and understand will never spend
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: one cent at the Craig Harper store, if you know
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: what I mean, right, And I do that knowingly and gladly.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: And this is in no way suggesting anyone does. But
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: it's like, well, you know that this is what you do.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: This would be the worst branding and marketing. Like if
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: your job was to get bums on the seats, this
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: is the worst way to do it because it's such
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: a slow grind, and you think, well, I don't know
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: what I've done like twenty one odd one hundred or more.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: You go, well, if each one of those is an hour,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: that's twenty one hundred hours like this one's gone for
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: longer even and then all the editing and then the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: writing copy, and then the know you sitting there or
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Melissa sitting there making it make it sound better than
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: it did before because someone's audio was crappy, and then
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: adjusting and regulating and doing all the clever shit that
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: you two do. Yeah, you would not do this to
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: become famous or rich. Yes, Hey, it's been good. I
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: don't know if anyone else enjoyed it, but I did
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: so suffering your jocks, everyone else and all our overseas
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: listeners will not know what that means. It's fun, though
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: it's tongue in cheek again. Congrats on your thousand go you,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: thank you. I'm glad you're not dying of the lurgie.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Tell you, bloke, he's a good man. Just squeeze him
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: on the ass for me and tell him that's from me.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I was going to say on the edge on the
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: end of the dick, but that's inappropriate, so I'll just
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: leave it.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: To us and getting around in your flanny, mate, he's
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: getting around.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I left my flanny in his van everyone and then
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Tiff sent me photos of him wearing my fucking flanney.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: He probably catch something, all right, splaining great. Thanks Cook, Bye,
