- 0:17Speaker 2: to Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota dot Com.
- 0:24Speaker 3: All right, no open, huh Matt, all right, okay, all right? Uh,
- 0:31Speaker 3: it is Tuesday here Jillette Stadium, A beautiful day in Foxborough, gorgeous.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Wait, we just got.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Back for practice. It's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's Duce,
- 0:42Speaker 3: it's Matt Nabooth. And it's been a while since we've
- 0:45Speaker 3: had a show.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's been a minute.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yeah, So we have a lot to catch up on
- 0:49Speaker 3: the offense, the defense, all that stuff. But I want
- 0:53Speaker 3: to I want to start with Gabe Achis. That's who
- 0:57Speaker 3: I want to catch up on, because, oh my god,
- 1:00Speaker 3: I think he's he should take over your Derek Henry
- 1:04Speaker 3: Band Club.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Because this guy is looks the part, he looks the
- 1:09Speaker 2: part he does.
- 1:10Speaker 3: And you know, I saw a little bit of him
- 1:12Speaker 3: yesterday in the one on ones and he's fast, fast
- 1:15Speaker 3: around the edge.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Power.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just built, powerfully built too. We got to
- 1:19Speaker 1: hear from him for the first time today. A lot
- 1:21Speaker 1: of questions about the contract all that stuff.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Nie said.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It's behind him, not surprisingly, but good to hear him.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Feel like you're fully getting up to speed with gay
- 1:29Speaker 1: Bacchus and starting to you know, get more reps the
- 1:31Speaker 1: last two days. So I'm hopeful that maybe by the
- 1:34Speaker 1: time we get to see the Colts in a week
- 1:35Speaker 1: from today, that you know, you see him kind of
- 1:37Speaker 1: full go because you know, to be honest, I'm kind
- 1:39Speaker 1: of meh on the edge position, like you know, I
- 1:42Speaker 1: just I was kind of concerned about it coming into camp,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and I haven't really moved off of concerns. So you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I'd love to see I mean, I'm not concerned about
- 1:49Speaker 1: a lot of stuff on this team, and I want
- 1:50Speaker 1: to start this whole thing off with concern. But if
- 1:52Speaker 1: there's one area of the team right now that I
- 1:54Speaker 1: feel like they need a little more out of or
- 1:56Speaker 1: a little juice stange position, so maybe he can bring
- 1:59Speaker 1: it that, you know, stick would be yep.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So he was yesterday his first practice in team.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, he practiced on Saturday and limited basis and then
- 2:08Speaker 4: yesterday got some team reps in. He's made some plays
- 2:11Speaker 4: against the run, beat some blocks that we've seen went
- 2:14Speaker 4: around with Marcus Bryan with quickness yesterday, shed Kale Blomoo today.
- 2:19Speaker 4: So I've seen him pop in the run game a
- 2:21Speaker 4: little bit, you know, pass rush. I think is gonna
- 2:23Speaker 4: take time. He got to learn intricacies, use your hands,
- 2:26Speaker 4: things like that. But he looks the part. He looks strong,
- 2:29Speaker 4: looks like he's in great shape. It doesn't look like
- 2:32Speaker 4: he was sitting on the couch, you know, eating candy
- 2:35Speaker 4: while he was waiting to sign the contract. So that's
- 2:38Speaker 4: a good sign. Hopefully we just see more and more
- 2:40Speaker 4: of them.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yeah, who would you physic, you know, physique wise, compare
- 2:45Speaker 3: him to because he's not as big as mcguinnis was.
- 2:49Speaker 2: No, you know, no, I don't know.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I mean him and Draymond Jones are pretty similar sizes.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I mean, I know Draymond Jones hasn't played for the Patriots. Yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 4: but I don't know if I have a great cop yet.
- 3:04Speaker 4: In terms of just pure size, it's.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Not really long.
- 3:07Speaker 1: He's not a long guy like some of the edge
- 3:09Speaker 1: guys where you know, like I think a Trey Flowers
- 3:11Speaker 1: who had like just really long arms, and you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: he doesn't really seem like that.
- 3:15Speaker 2: But he's just he's very well put together.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think his lower half is, you know, great legs,
- 3:20Speaker 1: powerful kind of a guy.
- 3:21Speaker 5: So he's built a little bit like Judon, but I
- 3:24Speaker 5: don't think he plays like Judon.
- 3:25Speaker 4: I think there are different types of players, but the
- 3:27Speaker 4: body types I could see being a little bit similar.
- 3:30Speaker 5: But we'll see.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I mean, I the good news to me is that
- 3:34Speaker 4: he I think he's out there in plenty of time
- 3:37Speaker 4: to get him ready for the season. Oh yeah, Like
- 3:39Speaker 4: we're not getting into a point where he's coming in,
- 3:43Speaker 4: you know, second third week of August and you're really
- 3:45Speaker 4: concerned that he's going to be way too far behind.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I think the thoughts as long as he stays healthy
- 3:51Speaker 4: of like red shirt ears and things like that, I
- 3:53Speaker 4: think he's going to be able to contribute as long
- 3:55Speaker 4: as he's healthy.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yeah, that's my big takeaway is that he should have
- 3:58Speaker 6: plenty of ramp up, you know, you know for the
- 4:01Speaker 6: regular season. And yeah, I mean, it was not an
- 4:03Speaker 6: ideal way to spend your your onboarding as a rookie,
- 4:07Speaker 6: but I think he's the fact that he's been out
- 4:10Speaker 6: there in team the last two days really really positive
- 4:13Speaker 6: sign yep.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, So that's that's my opening take what about you guys.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like this is the dog days of CAM.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mean it kind of has become a cliche at
- 4:21Speaker 1: this point. But five padded practices in six days, and
- 4:24Speaker 1: you could, you know see it. I think they were
- 4:27Speaker 1: they're getting used to each other. I mean they've run
- 4:29Speaker 1: this little bootleg play ten times again, you know, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: feel like and today the defense.
- 4:33Speaker 2: You know, snuffed it out.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So I think that's getting to the point where we're
- 4:37Speaker 1: ready to play against some other teams. Yeah, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 1: they'll have a couple of days of clean up. They'll
- 4:41Speaker 1: probably have you know, something on Friday, and then two
- 4:44Speaker 1: days off and then they'll get into it next Monday, Tuesday.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I mean, progression wise, you know, from where the offense
- 4:49Speaker 3: started to where it.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Is now, I think it's night and day.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I mean, it just looks the operation just looks a
- 4:54Speaker 3: lot better than it did those opening couple of days.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I see the progress, you know, the progression that
- 4:59Speaker 1: they're you know, installing things where it's you know.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Red zone high, red zone low.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Middle of the field, short yardage run. Yesterday today they
- 5:06Speaker 1: started putting in some two minutes, so you know, you
- 5:09Speaker 1: see how they're constructing everything, putting it all together to
- 5:11Speaker 1: get them ready to play a game in what like
- 5:13Speaker 1: nine days.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know how much more you can really
- 5:16Speaker 4: glean from Patriots versus Patriots practices at this point. I
- 5:21Speaker 4: think you need to see it against another opponent because
- 5:23Speaker 4: I think one guy that's looked fantastic is Will Campbell.
- 5:26Speaker 4: But Deuce highlighted the edge of the spot that he's
- 5:29Speaker 4: concerned about. So how much does Will Campbell look great?
- 5:32Speaker 4: Because the Patriots depth at edge just isn't very good.
- 5:35Speaker 4: So once we get to the Colts and the Eagles,
- 5:38Speaker 4: you know, hopefully we'll see him against better competition in
- 5:40Speaker 4: some respects and see more. But I think that he's
- 5:43Speaker 4: looked really strong. And Draymond Jones was talking about him,
- 5:46Speaker 4: he played him when he was with the Titans. Draymond
- 5:48Speaker 4: Jones played him last year and he said he's much
- 5:51Speaker 4: better than he was when we played him last year,
- 5:53Speaker 4: and talking about him being stronger and better with his
- 5:56Speaker 4: technique and all those different types of things.
- 5:58Speaker 5: So he's looked really, really good.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Now is that say more about the edge position than
- 6:03Speaker 4: it does about Will Campbell? I guess we'll we'll find
- 6:05Speaker 4: out once you get into the other competition.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Now, my big takeaway is just that I'm really encouraged
- 6:13Speaker 6: by how much both sides are enjoying different periods of
- 6:17Speaker 6: the practice. And we've had a lot of training camps
- 6:20Speaker 6: over the last say five six years, where one side
- 6:23Speaker 6: or the other really controls things, and I don't think
- 6:27Speaker 6: that's been the case this year. I think there have
- 6:28Speaker 6: been times. Even today it starts off, I thought there
- 6:32Speaker 6: were a lot of incomplete passes. I thought, in particular,
- 6:35Speaker 6: when Drake May and the starters were out there, they
- 6:37Speaker 6: were sort of under fire. They were sending a lot
- 6:39Speaker 6: of blitzes at them. Yeah, so there were a lot
- 6:41Speaker 6: of checkdowns and not a lot of production. And then
- 6:45Speaker 6: you know, as the practice progresses and you get to
- 6:48Speaker 6: you know, two minute at the end, I thought they
- 6:49Speaker 6: had a little bit more success. So the defense has
- 6:52Speaker 6: some stuff that they feel good about and some stuff
- 6:54Speaker 6: they need to work on. The offense has the same thing.
- 6:56Speaker 6: I think that's what you're looking for right in camp,
- 6:59Speaker 6: and that this I feel like this is I'm probably
- 7:02Speaker 6: missing years over the you know, the last but I
- 7:05Speaker 6: feel like this has been about as even as it's
- 7:07Speaker 6: been with both sides enjoying positive days.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Then that I can remember.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Showed up to me. In the run game. I feel
- 7:13Speaker 1: like there's you know, a couple of runs that they're
- 7:15Speaker 1: in nothing there, and then there's all of a sudden
- 7:17Speaker 1: increase some space and you know, you see and you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: just Turle Jennings kind of popped back yesterday and I
- 7:22Speaker 1: just think he's right in the mix, and you know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: looks like he's got some speed and he looks like he's.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Read twenty twenty fourth pretty even there, both bad.
- 7:28Speaker 1: How about you're probably right the pillow fight.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 7:33Speaker 4: The overall competitiveness of practice has really stood.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Out and good.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Yeah, they've been in pads a bunch, which I think
- 7:39Speaker 4: is a departure from last year. I thought last year
- 7:42Speaker 4: they kind of eased in and weren't as heavy on
- 7:44Speaker 4: the padded practices. This is what pad's added four to
- 7:47Speaker 4: the five days or five out of six or something
- 7:49Speaker 4: like that, and then they'll be in pads again at
- 7:51Speaker 4: the end of the week. So uh, there there's a
- 7:54Speaker 4: lot of hitting, a lot of padded practices, a lot
- 7:56Speaker 4: of one on ones, a lot of you know, half
- 7:58Speaker 4: line drills things like that, and that I didn't think
- 8:02Speaker 4: it was quite as competitive as last year for Rabel's
- 8:05Speaker 4: first camp as this one has been. And I you know, Paul,
- 8:07Speaker 4: you mentioned the slow start to last season. You know,
- 8:10Speaker 4: maybe just the overall intensity to you know, Remedy, the
- 8:14Speaker 4: super Bowl from last year, whatever the case may be.
- 8:16Speaker 4: It just feels like they are kind of getting after
- 8:18Speaker 4: it in this camp, almost like the good old days,
- 8:21Speaker 4: you know of training camp.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I mean, that's what I was gonna ask you guys.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Do you ever remember like a matchup with AJ Brown
- 8:25Speaker 1: and Christian Zaluz like this with WR one and a
- 8:28Speaker 1: CV one. I mean, I know Revis was here, I
- 8:30Speaker 1: know ty Law was here. Did he ever you know,
- 8:32Speaker 1: have that actual I mean that matchup to me has
- 8:35Speaker 1: been so much fun to watch a lot of times,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Drake's targeting AJ Brown right off the get go. Great
- 8:40Speaker 1: clip from Drake being micd up talking to AJ Brown
- 8:42Speaker 1: about how Gonzo was playing him and stuff. So that's
- 8:45Speaker 1: been one of my favorite things in camp is just
- 8:47Speaker 1: watching two elite talented guys go up against.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Each other every day and both have accepted the challenge,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you know, so it's like they're making each other better.
- 8:55Speaker 1: It's like when good players are both really good and
- 8:57Speaker 1: they go against each other. They make each other better.
- 8:59Speaker 1: What is this?
- 9:00Speaker 6: What is that called?
- 9:01Speaker 2: What's that? Iron? Sharp and iron? That sums it up?
- 9:04Speaker 6: I wish I had thought of that.
- 9:06Speaker 5: You should have just let that.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I actually, well, do you remember like in camp matchups like.
- 9:13Speaker 1: That, like Rerevis Edelman that's probably maybe could you could
- 9:17Speaker 1: you call it?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah? No, I really can't.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I really don't think of one like that, because you
- 9:21Speaker 6: know they had.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I mean Moss Molly practice.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Yeah, they didn't really have like the year Revs was here,
- 9:28Speaker 6: they didn't really have that, you know, right, They used
- 9:31Speaker 6: to do the we used to call the Hall of
- 9:32Speaker 6: Fame drill, and Revis would work with Gronk and Brady.
- 9:35Speaker 6: Well they were doing special teams periods. They'd be like,
- 9:38Speaker 6: yeah you can. They were like me, you can do
- 9:39Speaker 6: that on your own time and go over here, and
- 9:41Speaker 6: like we're gonna be with the Hall of famers over here.
- 9:44Speaker 6: But it wasn't necessarily covering Gronk. It was just sort
- 9:47Speaker 6: of working on some yeah, some techniques.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Moss was here, there wasn't really you know, it's not
- 9:53Speaker 1: a Hall.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Of Fame drill anymore, though not yet yet. Drake, Drake's
- 9:58Speaker 6: got a shot a j Brown, Drake.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I mean go back to Terry Glenn on ty Law
- 10:03Speaker 1: in the late nineties.
- 10:05Speaker 6: Terry Glenn would have had to have practiced.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they had great players at both positions.
- 10:10Speaker 1: It's never really at the same time.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Yeah, would probably would be the one example though, Mike,
- 10:15Speaker 6: that's good. Glenn in Law were probably as close to
- 10:19Speaker 6: what you're seeing now.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Mike Haynes, all right, come on, what do you how
- 10:23Speaker 2: old you think I am? Yeh. But but back then,
- 10:27Speaker 2: how much of practice? I guess we got to watch
- 10:30Speaker 2: a lot of it.
- 10:30Speaker 6: Oh yeah, but like I was only half joking, Glenn
- 10:34Speaker 6: barely practiced, right, That's why you didn't see this as much.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Yeah, the back and forth chess match is cool because
- 10:40Speaker 4: you know we had him on the micd up saying
- 10:42Speaker 4: that he can't Gonzo's not going to let him run
- 10:46Speaker 4: by him, right, And and so then you've seen Drake
- 10:49Speaker 4: May and aj Brown adjust to throwing things more underneath
- 10:53Speaker 4: him or back shoulders or whatever.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Uncoverable. Yeah, every time they run a slant it's like.
- 10:59Speaker 2: It should be should be uncoverable.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Oh yeah, well, I always say the only thing that
- 11:02Speaker 6: can defend a slant route is a bad throw right.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Well, yeah, depending on the coverage.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, But like the the chess match there of Gonzales
- 11:12Speaker 4: playing really off of AJ Brown a lot, it seems
- 11:15Speaker 4: like it's not a ton of press and uh, them
- 11:17Speaker 4: just realizing, all right, well, he's given you six seven
- 11:20Speaker 4: yards a cushion. There's no way he's gonna be able
- 11:23Speaker 4: to run by him. So we're just gonna adjust and
- 11:25Speaker 4: we're gonna throw a lot of comebacks and slants and
- 11:28Speaker 4: back shoulder throws and things like that. And AJ Brown
- 11:31Speaker 4: has been able to get open onto some of those.
- 11:33Speaker 4: So that's been really cool because he hasn't beaten Gonzo
- 11:36Speaker 4: a single time over the top, but a lot of
- 11:38Speaker 4: that I think is just the way that he's been
- 11:40Speaker 4: playing him. So it's been fun to watch just them
- 11:44Speaker 4: adjust to what Gonzalez is doing to him.
- 11:46Speaker 2: How are we doing on the offensive line?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I mean I think it's like the whole team.
- 11:51Speaker 1: It's you know, there are moments where there are good
- 11:53Speaker 1: plays and good protection and good pockets, and then you know,
- 11:56Speaker 1: there's one play today I felt like AVT got burned.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And know it's always when the like does like a reaction,
- 12:01Speaker 1: you're like, oh I think he's admitting you got beat there.
- 12:03Speaker 2: But you know, I think there are moments with that.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I think, you know, Lomu there got to work him,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and I mean he's getting a lot of work. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: think they got to develop him and get him ready.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I mean, according to a friend of Paul's and all
- 12:14Speaker 3: of us, Greg Bodard, he's going in.
- 12:16Speaker 2: The wrong direction. Yeah, I mean, I would say dramatic.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Wrong direction is dramatic.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I would say that he's on the rookie roller coaster
- 12:27Speaker 4: right now, is the way I would describe it with Lomu.
- 12:30Speaker 4: You know, there's some good reps, there's some bad reps.
- 12:32Speaker 4: I'd say it's it's very similar to to Will Campbell's
- 12:35Speaker 4: Rookie camp. Honestly, as of right now, a lot of
- 12:39Speaker 4: the things that I'm seeing with Lomu's inside moves that
- 12:41Speaker 4: are giving him the most trouble. And you know, he's
- 12:43Speaker 4: trying to set out and get out to the junction
- 12:46Speaker 4: point on the speed rush and Brayden Swinson or Hugh
- 12:49Speaker 4: Hutchins or whoever Elijah Ponder are, you know coming back up,
- 12:53Speaker 4: you know, spinning or using that crossover hesitation move.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Things like that.
- 12:58Speaker 4: I think the offensive line as a whole has done
- 13:00Speaker 4: pretty well with standard rushes, you know, and the defense
- 13:04Speaker 4: is really just sending four guys and you kind of
- 13:06Speaker 4: know where the four guys are coming from. It's been
- 13:08Speaker 4: pretty good. When they add on rushers, if they blitz
- 13:11Speaker 4: or bring a pressure, you know, that's where I start
- 13:14Speaker 4: to see a little bit more disruption up front, stunts, picks,
- 13:18Speaker 4: things like that. That's still I al would say, a
- 13:21Speaker 4: big time work in progress, but there's been way too
- 13:23Speaker 4: many free runners at Drake May for my liking. You know, safeties, corners, linebackers,
- 13:29Speaker 4: whatever the case may be. You know, you can have
- 13:32Speaker 4: a million different ways to plan for that and combat that.
- 13:36Speaker 4: But that would be my one criticism right now. The
- 13:38Speaker 4: offensive line. The run game has been a little bit
- 13:42Speaker 4: up and down, inconsistent, I would say, but I don't
- 13:44Speaker 4: really expect it to be dominant. When you have a
- 13:46Speaker 4: good defensive line on the other side, I don't think
- 13:48Speaker 4: you're going to dominate practice in that regard. But like
- 13:51Speaker 4: I said, I think the the good news is is
- 13:54Speaker 4: that when they know which four are coming and they're
- 13:57Speaker 4: just kind of rushing for I don't see a ton
- 13:59Speaker 4: of like one on one loss is happening up front
- 14:02Speaker 4: right now with the starters. You know, low moves, the
- 14:05Speaker 4: third tackle interior depth I think is a little bit
- 14:08Speaker 4: of a question mark, you know, Ben Brown, I think
- 14:09Speaker 4: it has been a little shaky.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Does Andrew Rupsych take.
- 14:13Speaker 6: That, James Hudson a little bit? I think at guard
- 14:17Speaker 6: at guard, yeah, able mention that today again he did
- 14:20Speaker 6: it yesterday a little bit. I wanted to ask you,
- 14:23Speaker 6: as the resident Doug Maron disciple, what have your thoughts
- 14:28Speaker 6: been on Jared Wilson in the middle.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I think you will at the pivot, Yeah, I think
- 14:33Speaker 4: that he's been okay. You know, I think the things
- 14:35Speaker 4: that stand out to me with him is just how
- 14:37Speaker 4: quick he is out of his stance. And you know
- 14:39Speaker 4: when they block zone schemes or they have him get
- 14:41Speaker 4: up to the second level or get out on a screen,
- 14:43Speaker 4: you know, you can definitely see that pop him and
- 14:45Speaker 4: Vera Tucker can get out, Like those guys are going
- 14:47Speaker 4: to be able to get out in front of runs
- 14:49Speaker 4: and screenplays. Now, those big guys in the middle, like
- 14:52Speaker 4: when you get you know, a bigger Corey Dirton type
- 14:55Speaker 4: of player three twenty three, twenty five. I still think
- 14:58Speaker 4: that that's gonna be a little bit of a and
- 15:00Speaker 4: for Wilson, uh in terms of handling that kind of size.
- 15:04Speaker 4: I think he's been pretty good in one on ones
- 15:06Speaker 4: in past protection, but you know, is he going to
- 15:09Speaker 4: be able to really uproot those big dudes?
- 15:11Speaker 5: Like that's going to be power?
- 15:13Speaker 6: Yeah, power seems to be. You know, I haven't watched
- 15:16Speaker 6: anywhere near as many reps as you guys have, because
- 15:18Speaker 6: you know, I watched the skill guys, because it's all
- 15:20Speaker 6: I care about. We watch you guys watch that stuff
- 15:25Speaker 6: that you know doesn't a little bit always matter. But
- 15:28Speaker 6: I noticed a problem at times with power, you know,
- 15:32Speaker 6: in their athleticism is through the roof. And I've also
- 15:35Speaker 6: thought that the snaps have been a little shaky here
- 15:39Speaker 6: and there, that they've had a couple of exchange issues
- 15:41Speaker 6: under center and gun shotgun snaps to me tend to
- 15:45Speaker 6: go wide. I don't know, if you've got now maybe
- 15:48Speaker 6: that might be something that Drake may want. He likes it,
- 15:51Speaker 6: maybe on the right side or whatever for whatever reason.
- 15:53Speaker 6: I don't know, but I just anecdotally, maybe you know,
- 15:58Speaker 6: once or twice every practice, I know, just the quarterbacks
- 16:01Speaker 6: reaching out to get the ball.
- 16:03Speaker 2: It was going to be our kick returner on this team.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I think I hope Kyle Williams to get a crack
- 16:07Speaker 1: at it, you know, I think he's a you know,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but they've liked the running back body, so.
- 16:12Speaker 6: They have tried a lot of guys.
- 16:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think we're anywhere close to settled on that.
- 16:18Speaker 4: But whoever the third running back is on the team's
- 16:20Speaker 4: going to return kickoffs and then the other guy you know,
- 16:22Speaker 4: will see Chisholm, Kyle Williams like Terrell Jennings.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why I think Evan's right. Whereas contrast that,
- 16:29Speaker 6: like literally they had about ten or twelve guys handling
- 16:32Speaker 6: kicks two days ago. Today they did punts. Three guys.
- 16:36Speaker 6: It's Marcus Jones, Romeo Dobbs, and Tomio Douglas.
- 16:39Speaker 5: The Dobbs one's weird to me.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Yeah, it doesn't strike me as the profile of that,
- 16:45Speaker 6: not that they were working to I don't know if
- 16:47Speaker 6: you guys watched that at all today, but Barringer was
- 16:51Speaker 6: like spraying them, and I think he was doing it
- 16:54Speaker 6: on purpose, you know, over to the sideline, Like they
- 16:58Speaker 6: had some punt return attempts today with these guys were
- 17:02Speaker 6: running you know, twenty five thirty thirty five yards to
- 17:05Speaker 6: the side, patching a backward and they would gast you
- 17:09Speaker 6: could see because it was only three of them. That's
- 17:11Speaker 6: why it really stood out to me. I could because
- 17:13Speaker 6: usually everybody's back there, you know, for those and you
- 17:16Speaker 6: get a little time to rest. But it looked like
- 17:17Speaker 6: all three of those guys were were working to catch
- 17:21Speaker 6: those punts.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Yeah, tough if you like, you would think that some
- 17:24Speaker 4: of those UDFA receivers would be in the mix for
- 17:27Speaker 4: punt return but they also want to teach them covering
- 17:30Speaker 4: punts or or a field goal protection or punt protection.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Then you can't also be returning them in a practice
- 17:37Speaker 4: like in a game, it's only one thing going on
- 17:39Speaker 4: at once, but in a practice like you can't have
- 17:41Speaker 4: everybody returning punts and then also have them work on
- 17:44Speaker 4: covering punts like it's either one or the other. So
- 17:46Speaker 4: that group has I feel like, kind of rotated a
- 17:49Speaker 4: little bit.
- 17:49Speaker 6: The material point. Yeah, all that that group, it does
- 17:52Speaker 6: a lot of catching punts before practice. Yeah, and Chisholm,
- 17:56Speaker 6: you know, did a good job of it in the
- 17:57Speaker 6: preseason last year, right, Yeah, we had a couple of
- 17:59Speaker 6: good Yeah, so I'm sure that when they get to
- 18:02Speaker 6: the second half of a preseason game or two, they'll
- 18:05Speaker 6: have plenty of options. But I just it stood out
- 18:07Speaker 6: to me it's ten or twelve guys handling kickoffs, and
- 18:11Speaker 6: now that's a little deceiving because you always have two
- 18:13Speaker 6: guys back on the kickoff, and then there was only
- 18:16Speaker 6: three today when they were doing punt return.
- 18:18Speaker 1: It's like a shift of how they've changed the kickoff
- 18:20Speaker 1: where you used to always have, like Bethel Johnson, like
- 18:23Speaker 1: you had a guy he's gonna be a kickoff returner.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like and maybe the Patriots are unique
- 18:28Speaker 1: that other teams do have specific kickoff returners, but it
- 18:31Speaker 1: just kind of feels like somebody's got to win it,
- 18:34Speaker 1: one of the lower running backs or lower wide receivers,
- 18:36Speaker 1: like the job's there to be taken. But it doesn't
- 18:38Speaker 1: seem like anybody has the inside edge or that the
- 18:40Speaker 1: coaching staff is like, we want this guy. It's it's
- 18:43Speaker 1: kind of an open competition that I don't ever.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Remember, yeah, for this team for sure.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I mean there's probably a handful of teams that have
- 18:50Speaker 4: guys that are really good at it, you know, you know,
- 18:54Speaker 4: at the tight ends or the guy on the Cowboys.
- 18:56Speaker 5: I'm biking on his name right now.
- 18:58Speaker 4: I like those types of guys, but uh, you know,
- 19:01Speaker 4: I think that the guys that maybe would be really
- 19:03Speaker 4: good at it on this team are too valuable in
- 19:06Speaker 4: other places that they don't want to risk them.
- 19:08Speaker 6: Like I agree, I would like to see Henderson be
- 19:10Speaker 6: that guy. Yeah, I think it, But I think of
- 19:12Speaker 6: Ray Davis and you know, he's pretty good at it.
- 19:17Speaker 6: He's pretty important. I mean they need you know, James
- 19:19Speaker 6: cook Is is obviously their their lead guy, but like
- 19:23Speaker 6: that position, we all know how volatile it is. They'll
- 19:26Speaker 6: need Ray Davis and I think that they look at
- 19:29Speaker 6: that and they say, you know, we like him as
- 19:31Speaker 6: a kickoff return it too.
- 19:32Speaker 5: That's a good one.
- 19:33Speaker 3: You mentioned Dobb's getting some reps at punt return. Has
- 19:37Speaker 3: he done enough at wide receiver yet this camp?
- 19:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he's getting better. Today wasn't a great
- 19:41Speaker 6: day for him, but I think he's getting better by
- 19:44Speaker 6: the day. I thought he had a really good practice yesterday.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think he's one of those guys that doesn't you know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: coming off the bus, you know, you wouldn't be He's
- 19:52Speaker 1: not really big, he's not really fast, But I think
- 19:55Speaker 1: as you get into games that he's gonna you know,
- 19:57Speaker 1: there have been moments in practice when he's come through,
- 19:59Speaker 1: usually in team period, where oh, nice catch. Like I
- 20:01Speaker 1: always think he's got good hands, He's got big hands.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He seems to be pretty reliable. It's probably why they
- 20:05Speaker 1: have him.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Good hands.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's really it's kind of like Booty in
- 20:09Speaker 1: a way of like that's kind of his thing. I mean,
- 20:11Speaker 1: I don't see him as the same player as Booty,
- 20:13Speaker 1: but I think he's one of those guys that is
- 20:15Speaker 1: a gamer and that you know. I mean, I'm hoping
- 20:17Speaker 1: because yeah, it's been inconsistent.
- 20:19Speaker 6: I think he's been pretty good. I thought he was
- 20:21Speaker 6: a really slow start, and you know, I think Evan
- 20:23Speaker 6: kept using the small sea concerned and I agreed with him.
- 20:26Speaker 6: But I think the last couple of days today they weren't.
- 20:30Speaker 6: It seemed like it was either a quick checkdown dump
- 20:34Speaker 6: off or like a slant to Brown. Yeah, Like it
- 20:38Speaker 6: didn't look like there was a lot of diversity to
- 20:41Speaker 6: the passing game today when Drake May and the Stars
- 20:44Speaker 6: were out there, and then there was one period right
- 20:45Speaker 6: after those punt returns when they came back over for
- 20:48Speaker 6: the first team period to close practice, he wasn't even
- 20:51Speaker 6: in it, and I think it was because he was gassed.
- 20:54Speaker 6: And then the two minute drill he was in and
- 20:57Speaker 6: that was probably the worst throw that Drake made was
- 20:59Speaker 6: to him. Yeah, that just kind of had no conviction
- 21:02Speaker 6: in the throw and dirted it. But he was he
- 21:05Speaker 6: was open coming, you know, coming inside.
- 21:07Speaker 5: I continue to be small so concerned about Romeo Dods.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think it's been great. Don't get me wrong.
- 21:12Speaker 5: I think that.
- 21:14Speaker 4: It's less so about anything that he's doing wrong. I
- 21:17Speaker 4: just don't know if he's a natural fit inside the
- 21:21Speaker 4: formation the way that they want him to play inside
- 21:24Speaker 4: the formation, where a lot of that is a thinking
- 21:27Speaker 4: man's game inside of reading leverage, reading man versus zone understanding,
- 21:33Speaker 4: you know, how to get open against certain coverages. I
- 21:37Speaker 4: don't know if that's necessarily his game. I think his
- 21:39Speaker 4: game is at the catchpoint. I think his best part
- 21:42Speaker 4: of his game is the strong hands, the decent sized frame,
- 21:45Speaker 4: ability to box out at the catchpoint. You know, yesterday
- 21:49Speaker 4: in sevens he runs a little skinny on Gonzales and
- 21:52Speaker 4: gets inside position and yeah, you know, I mean seven
- 21:56Speaker 4: on seven whatever, But like that, those are the types
- 21:59Speaker 4: of throws that I see him excelling at when they
- 22:03Speaker 4: put him inside and they're asking him to run the
- 22:06Speaker 4: Edelman Welker stuff like that, that type of stuff, I
- 22:09Speaker 4: just don't I don't see it as part of his game.
- 22:13Speaker 4: So maybe they get to a point where they're, you know,
- 22:16Speaker 4: realize his role and understand. But right now they're trying
- 22:20Speaker 4: to kind of have him play the role that Diggs
- 22:24Speaker 4: was playing last year. And I don't think that they're
- 22:26Speaker 4: similar players, you know, I think Dobbs is much stiffer
- 22:30Speaker 4: and much more of a linear athlete.
- 22:32Speaker 6: I want to know who on the Bengo Who on
- 22:34Speaker 6: the Bengo card had Paul being the most positive about
- 22:36Speaker 6: any elements?
- 22:38Speaker 3: So do we have a ways to go before we
- 22:40Speaker 3: figure out this wide receiver room?
- 22:43Speaker 2: No figured out?
- 22:45Speaker 4: I yeah, Like I guess my and I know fred
- 22:49Speaker 4: to like, you know, cover your ears for a second.
- 22:51Speaker 6: I'm gonna I'm going to take the next ten minutes off.
- 22:54Speaker 4: I'm not really sure if I think Chisholm is necessary
- 22:58Speaker 4: and it does.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Make play And I mean against who got beautiful catchy
- 23:03Speaker 2: in the end zone yesterday?
- 23:05Speaker 5: Right that was the U catch Yeah against Marcella style.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I think that, you know, maccollins has a specific role
- 23:13Speaker 4: in this offense, and it might not be a large one,
- 23:16Speaker 4: and it might not be uh you know, one that
- 23:19Speaker 4: he's going to be super productive on because of the
- 23:22Speaker 4: type of role that it is. But I know the
- 23:24Speaker 4: role that he is going to play, uh you know.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Kyle Williams like, well, we'll see, but I still think
- 23:29Speaker 4: it's early to give up on a guy that I
- 23:31Speaker 4: think has shown some ability and some flashes of talent.
- 23:34Speaker 4: And then the other four guys are not going anywhere
- 23:36Speaker 4: unless they trade Booty, you know, like a J. Brown, Romeo, Dobs,
- 23:40Speaker 4: Pop Douglas and Kishon. Booty are going to be on
- 23:42Speaker 4: the team unless they get it. Yeah, unless they get
- 23:45Speaker 4: a great trade for Booty, then there he's going to
- 23:47Speaker 4: be on the roster.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Traded.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Well, maybe they trade him, but yeah, I like, I.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Don't think they'll cut them, but I think they'll trade him.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So I guess if that happens, and then maybe I guess.
- 23:58Speaker 4: You know, Chisholm right now is like Pop a backup
- 24:01Speaker 4: to Pop or a backup to mac collins right in
- 24:04Speaker 4: like those types of roles. I just don't know if
- 24:07Speaker 4: like you have the need there like I game day, like, what,
- 24:11Speaker 4: what is he active?
- 24:13Speaker 2: Like, we don't have the need for plays.
- 24:15Speaker 6: I wouldn't think he'd be active on game day. But
- 24:19Speaker 6: with Fred, I don't think he's going off the roster.
- 24:21Speaker 6: I think they like him and I think they'll keep
- 24:23Speaker 6: him as depth like in him and Kyle Williams, so
- 24:26Speaker 6: I'm in much different skill sets, but I think they'll
- 24:29Speaker 6: both be there for another year to develop.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Be on the practice squad.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Yeah that's fine. Yeah, I'm saying that he can't play.
- 24:35Speaker 4: I'm just saying I think that he's just as redundant
- 24:38Speaker 4: as some of these other guys that we're talking about,
- 24:40Speaker 4: and I don't see the the role for him, Like
- 24:43Speaker 4: Mac Collins is going to play in certain packages in
- 24:46Speaker 4: certain situations of the game, and you see a specific
- 24:49Speaker 4: way that they're trying to use him in these games,
- 24:52Speaker 4: in these practices, you know, I just don't necessarily see
- 24:56Speaker 4: that with chishm like the backup slot receiver.
- 24:59Speaker 5: I guess the pop.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I understand it. I think they're gonna keep him around though.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I think they like him. I think they love the
- 25:04Speaker 1: energy that he plays with and.
- 25:05Speaker 5: They're going to keep all seven of them, like maybe.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think there's any chance that Booty is
- 25:10Speaker 6: on the team really well, I'm talking Chisholm man. No,
- 25:13Speaker 6: but that's what I don't think. I just don't think
- 25:16Speaker 6: there's any room unless someone gets hurt like that. That's
- 25:19Speaker 6: my quale. My my qualifier is, you know, injuries change
- 25:23Speaker 6: depth charts faster than anything, and if something would have
- 25:27Speaker 6: happened to one of those top three guys, then they're
- 25:30Speaker 6: gonna need them.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I look to next year to where
- 25:32Speaker 1: you have. I mean, Pop's going to be a free agent.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Matt Collins is a free agent. Booty if he sticks
- 25:36Speaker 1: a rounds a free agent.
- 25:38Speaker 6: If you're Elliott Wolf, I think chism's here. I don't
- 25:41Speaker 6: think he's going anywhere.
- 25:42Speaker 3: If you're Elliott Wolf and you're shopping Booty, what's your pitch?
- 25:46Speaker 2: How are you? How are you describing? He could be
- 25:48Speaker 2: your number?
- 25:50Speaker 5: Check out this Booty right here?
- 25:51Speaker 3: No, like, you know, how are you making the case
- 25:54Speaker 3: for Booty on another team?
- 25:55Speaker 1: I am highlighting all of the reports from camp. I
- 25:57Speaker 1: guess more in the beginning when everyone was like before.
- 25:59Speaker 6: They yeah, not that he's not a physical player, that's
- 26:04Speaker 6: just that was just a line of demarcation for production,
- 26:07Speaker 6: not because because that's his game. Actually, he made a
- 26:11Speaker 6: good catch back shoulder today, yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 1: You know, and he also had a little slantony car.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You know.
- 26:16Speaker 5: I just a back shoulder from Drake.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I think he's he is what he is, and he's
- 26:20Speaker 1: good at it. But at the end of the day,
- 26:22Speaker 1: I think other guys are better. And you know, I
- 26:24Speaker 1: just watching A J. Brown, It's like, do you need
- 26:27Speaker 1: booty in your point on Kobe Minor, I have one.
- 26:33Speaker 4: If somebody offers you something real for booty, I'm not
- 26:35Speaker 4: saying don't take it. Like if they offer you a
- 26:37Speaker 4: top one hundred pick or something like that, or it's
- 26:39Speaker 4: a player for player trade, that makes a lot of sense.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Maybe it's like an edge rusher from another team for
- 26:45Speaker 4: Kayshaan Boody or something like that. I just really hate
- 26:48Speaker 4: the idea of moving on for Kashan Boody with the
- 26:53Speaker 4: report that he has with the quarterback.
- 26:56Speaker 6: My major concern is Dobbs Booty. Yeah, Drake may exactly
- 27:01Speaker 6: what Devon just talks. That's my one concern.
- 27:04Speaker 4: I tried to learn lessons. I learned my lesson about
- 27:07Speaker 4: Jakobe Myers and Juju Smith Schuster, and I don't think
- 27:11Speaker 4: that there are similar players necessarily, but I think it's
- 27:13Speaker 4: a similar situation where you have a bird in the hand,
- 27:17Speaker 4: right like Kisehan Boody is the guy that Drake made trust,
- 27:20Speaker 4: he's the guy that he has rapport with, and then
- 27:22Speaker 4: you're trying to break in this shiny new toy and
- 27:24Speaker 4: Romeo Dobbs and to Frankly, I don't think it has
- 27:28Speaker 4: been like I don't think it's looked the same, you know,
- 27:31Speaker 4: even today, Like I put the throw mostly on Drake
- 27:33Speaker 4: may I think it was a bad throw that he
- 27:35Speaker 4: made the Dobbs, but like one or two plays later
- 27:38Speaker 4: he threw the exact same throw to Matt Collins and
- 27:41Speaker 4: it was completed, and I just I keep seeing that happen.
- 27:44Speaker 4: I keep seeing one throw to Romeo Dobbs that looks
- 27:47Speaker 4: like he's it's a little bit weird, and then the
- 27:50Speaker 4: very next play he throws one to Booty or Mac
- 27:52Speaker 4: Collins or whoever, and it looks right, and.
- 27:55Speaker 6: It's like and the other part of this is what
- 27:57Speaker 6: you're expecting. So if Dobbs finishes, to see if they
- 28:00Speaker 6: get rid of Booty, and Dobbs finishes the season with
- 28:03Speaker 6: thirty five catches. That's a that's a like borderline disaster, like,
- 28:08Speaker 6: so it can't be the same, Like that's what I mean.
- 28:11Speaker 6: He had thirty three catches last year. If you bring
- 28:13Speaker 6: in a guy for twenty million a year and that's
- 28:15Speaker 6: all you're going to get for production, that's not good enough.
- 28:19Speaker 6: Like they clearly want him to be the number two,
- 28:22Speaker 6: And I would agree with you guys. I'm a little
- 28:24Speaker 6: higher on the I think the arrow was going up
- 28:27Speaker 6: a little bit more than you guys do. But I'm
- 28:29Speaker 6: not arguing with what we've seen so far. The production
- 28:33Speaker 6: has not necessarily been consistent.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Why he's doing getting a little run at punt return
- 28:38Speaker 2: like I don't know, No, I don't know.
- 28:41Speaker 4: I mean like full disclosion like the things that they do,
- 28:44Speaker 4: and I don't I'm not watching as much on the
- 28:46Speaker 4: seven on sevens, so I think a lot of the
- 28:48Speaker 4: plays that Dobbs has made to me has been during
- 28:50Speaker 4: seven on seven periods.
- 28:52Speaker 5: But I'm watching the big Goal.
- 28:53Speaker 6: I don't really even chart seven on seven, so I'm
- 28:55Speaker 6: not talking about that at all.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Okay, Well, I don't really see him making as many
- 28:59Speaker 4: plays in the life's like.
- 29:00Speaker 6: No, that's why I said, I think you guys are
- 29:02Speaker 6: right in terms of production. I yeah, I would agree
- 29:05Speaker 6: with you.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I I that would be My concern is like not
- 29:08Speaker 4: necessarily that you're going to give the opportunities to Booty
- 29:11Speaker 4: early on in the season, but like when you get
- 29:13Speaker 4: to let's say Halloween, if it's still not clicking with
- 29:16Speaker 4: Romeo Dobbs, but you have Kishon Boody, who you know
- 29:20Speaker 4: it clicks with, Like at that point you might need
- 29:23Speaker 4: to have a hard conversation and you know, readjust what
- 29:26Speaker 4: you're thinking here. And I'm willing to give Dobbs some
- 29:29Speaker 4: time to figure it out. But trading Booty now, you're
- 29:32Speaker 4: really like you're all in on this Romeo Dobbs thing
- 29:35Speaker 4: working And what's your what's your plan?
- 29:38Speaker 5: B if it doesn't work?
- 29:39Speaker 2: Right? All right, what's to talk about?
- 29:43Speaker 3: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast
- 29:47Speaker 3: at Patriots dot com.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Is the email address. Let's open her up?
- 29:51Speaker 6: Just just looking up jobs and stats. He did have
- 29:54Speaker 6: fifteen punt returns last year. Oh okay, so so it's
- 29:56Speaker 6: not like I mean he's that's really all that he's
- 29:59Speaker 6: had as a punt returner. It was twenty five for
- 30:02Speaker 6: Green Bay at fifteen for ninety four yards. Uh so
- 30:05Speaker 6: he only averaged six point three yards, which is, you know, pretty.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Pretty low fifteen in the season.
- 30:10Speaker 6: But fifteen punt returns. It's not like he's never done.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yeah, oh no, back up, Like I said, safe hands,
- 30:16Speaker 1: maybe you want them one, but I agree with it
- 30:18Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 30:18Speaker 6: The like doesn't really have the suddenness, the quickness, you know,
- 30:22Speaker 6: the explosiveness to me that would lend itself to maybe
- 30:26Speaker 6: they just like his hands and decision making.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 1: That's one more thing though too is I was thinking
- 30:29Speaker 1: more about you know, like talk about who guys made
- 30:32Speaker 1: catches against and like, And it's totally fair that Chisholm
- 30:34Speaker 1: has not gone a lot with the ones, but he's
- 30:38Speaker 1: done more than Kyle Williams has. Like Kyle Williams isn't
- 30:41Speaker 1: doing anything against the twos, you know, like he's.
- 30:43Speaker 6: You don't think Kyle Williams has made catches against.
- 30:45Speaker 1: The twos, not to the kime. I have seen Chistem.
- 30:47Speaker 6: I think he's an outside guy. He doesn't get anywhere
- 30:49Speaker 6: near the volume. It's like booty.
- 30:51Speaker 1: That's fair, but I just feel like it's more consistency
- 30:53Speaker 1: with Chisham, you know, what I mean, Like the three
- 30:55Speaker 1: I think that Kyle Williams is had, so I mean,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 30:57Speaker 6: I just think it's the difference in the catches. They're
- 30:59Speaker 6: like three passes that he's catching and you're trying to
- 31:02Speaker 6: get the ball downfield, you know, down splitting the safeties
- 31:05Speaker 6: on a deep post to Kyle Williams today, that's not
- 31:07Speaker 6: going to be as high percentage of play, right, But
- 31:10Speaker 6: they're both just with the twos, So like until that changes,
- 31:13Speaker 6: I'm not really going to put me to one of
- 31:14Speaker 6: them on my radar.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I just have more.
- 31:17Speaker 4: I guess there's this more investment in Kyle Williams, and
- 31:19Speaker 4: I think that his skill sets just different. I think
- 31:22Speaker 4: he is speed and his ability to get open you
- 31:24Speaker 4: know deep is just like who else on the team
- 31:27Speaker 4: really has that dimension to their game.
- 31:29Speaker 6: And I just want to be fair, Like to Mario
- 31:31Speaker 6: Douglas has caught three times as many passes as A J. Brown, Like,
- 31:35Speaker 6: does that mean he's been more consistent than Brown? No,
- 31:37Speaker 6: it's just like the plays that he bits, he's like
- 31:39Speaker 6: little five yard shallow crosses. He's going to catch a
- 31:41Speaker 6: million passes.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Well, I think, I mean, i'd say Pop's been a
- 31:45Speaker 1: little deeper than that though, too.
- 31:46Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think I know, but I'm just saying,
- 31:49Speaker 6: because you catch all of those passes, like especially if
- 31:52Speaker 6: if you took out like like the real quick hitters
- 31:54Speaker 6: to Brown, like when Brown goes downfield. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 31:57Speaker 6: it hasn't been anywhere near as consistent as when he's
- 31:59Speaker 6: just like those little slants.
- 32:01Speaker 1: That you catch you No, I know, I getually get.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I get what you're saying. The two they're playing two
- 32:04Speaker 1: different positions, and the volume is a thing. But like
- 32:07Speaker 1: you know, to Fred's point, like the guy just makes place,
- 32:10Speaker 1: and like I've watched enough practices to note that some
- 32:12Speaker 1: guys just don't make place. They never show up, they
- 32:14Speaker 1: never catch balls. Whether they're a slock gy or anything,
- 32:16Speaker 1: I don't see. Like I don't see these plays.
- 32:18Speaker 6: I just don't.
- 32:19Speaker 4: The one the one thing that I will give to them,
- 32:22Speaker 4: the high corner out in the red zone is like
- 32:24Speaker 4: he's money on them.
- 32:25Speaker 6: He's caught that two or three times.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and he did it all summer last year too.
- 32:29Speaker 4: And for a smaller guy like he does get up
- 32:31Speaker 4: and get to the top, I.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Watch him get locked up in the middle in those
- 32:34Speaker 6: red zone drills a lot.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess I'm with you, Paul. I.
- 32:40Speaker 4: I just I feel like we're we're doing gymnastics to
- 32:45Speaker 4: try to get all seven of these guys on the roster,
- 32:48Speaker 4: and I'm not sure that we're not overrating some of them.
- 32:52Speaker 5: And maybe Kyle Williams is in that category. Two.
- 32:55Speaker 4: I just you're two as a guy that was a
- 32:57Speaker 4: top seventy five pick just a year ago, and as
- 33:00Speaker 4: a skill set that I think would really help this team.
- 33:03Speaker 4: I just am less inclined to give up on that
- 33:05Speaker 4: as quickly.
- 33:06Speaker 6: And Mike, I just want to say, just to defend
- 33:09Speaker 6: myself on this, I don't think Chisholm should go anywhere.
- 33:12Speaker 6: I think you should be on the team. Like he's
- 33:15Speaker 6: everything that you want in one of those sort of
- 33:18Speaker 6: back end five to six receiver whatever. He's going to
- 33:21Speaker 6: do whatever you need him to do, right, and he
- 33:23Speaker 6: has when given the opportunities. He looks the part. So
- 33:26Speaker 6: I'm not telling you that I haven't seen anything from him,
- 33:29Speaker 6: So please don't misunderstand. I just haven't seen as much.
- 33:32Speaker 1: My brain where I'm not even I'm just saying where
- 33:35Speaker 1: my brain is that is, can he do it with?
- 33:38Speaker 1: You know, he's been consistent. He did the same stuff
- 33:40Speaker 1: last summer. He caught a bunch of passes with the twos,
- 33:42Speaker 1: and he's you know, gets in in the late in
- 33:43Speaker 1: the preseason game and he's all over the place and
- 33:45Speaker 1: he's breaking tackles and it's against the twos. But again,
- 33:48Speaker 1: like I've seen guys that show up and do nothing.
- 33:51Speaker 6: But you know, I've seen guys do that for a
- 33:54Speaker 6: hundred years and not be NFL players. Yeah, and I'm
- 34:01Speaker 6: just until I see it change. And by the way,
- 34:05Speaker 6: I put Kyle Williams in this same spot. Yeah, he
- 34:09Speaker 6: caught every pass. He had ten catches last year and
- 34:12Speaker 6: like three touchdowns. Like I could sit there and say
- 34:14Speaker 6: the same thing about Kyle Willams, I don't because until
- 34:17Speaker 6: he consistently does it with Drake May, I'm not gonna
- 34:21Speaker 6: put him on my radar as being a key part
- 34:23Speaker 6: of the offense.
- 34:24Speaker 4: I just think that there's a point in time where
- 34:27Speaker 4: I think I wonder if they feel like they need
- 34:29Speaker 4: to get a look at Chism with the ones because
- 34:33Speaker 4: Pop Douglas has just been such as he's been in
- 34:36Speaker 4: the slot all summer and at some point you have
- 34:39Speaker 4: to say, we know Pop Doz is gonna be here,
- 34:41Speaker 4: He's gonna play, And if.
- 34:43Speaker 6: They were thinking that way, don't you think it would happen?
- 34:45Speaker 5: Right?
- 34:46Speaker 4: But instead, like I don't really know how much more
- 34:48Speaker 4: I have to glean about e Ft and Chisholm going
- 34:51Speaker 4: up against backup slot corners and things like that. With
- 34:54Speaker 4: Tommy DeVito, like this two summers in a row that
- 34:57Speaker 4: I've seen him be able to handle that of play
- 35:01Speaker 4: until I see it against starters on starters and he's
- 35:04Speaker 4: beating Marcus Jones, or he's beaten Gonzales, or he's beaten
- 35:07Speaker 4: Carlon Davis. When he comes back, It's just hard to
- 35:09Speaker 4: tell if like there's another level there for him.
- 35:11Speaker 1: That's what I'm trying to figure out, Like how do
- 35:14Speaker 1: you know, Paul, Like how do you know that.
- 35:16Speaker 2: You know Jeremy Gallon?
- 35:18Speaker 1: You know he's he's maybe he was doing the same thing,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you know, and and you're dismissive with him, But then
- 35:22Speaker 1: like another guy like Julian Edelman, you're dismissed, But at
- 35:25Speaker 1: what point you.
- 35:25Speaker 6: Got a little tear killing Jeremy Gallon?
- 35:28Speaker 1: But at what points he said this guy might be
- 35:31Speaker 1: more than this. That's all. That's all I'm trying to
- 35:33Speaker 1: understand because what more can he do? Right now? Gets
- 35:35Speaker 1: in there, he catches passes with it.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Two, he seems like he's.
- 35:37Speaker 2: In the right spot.
- 35:38Speaker 6: He brings but energy they seem to really Yeah, I
- 35:42Speaker 6: just I think he's a one trick pony. Like that's it.
- 35:45Speaker 5: I just wish you like Edelman to me when he
- 35:48Speaker 5: you know, so much more dynamic.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Everybody remembers the punt return you know, in the preseason
- 35:52Speaker 4: as like sort of the coming out party, like that
- 35:55Speaker 4: was like an eighty yard punt return. Like I like,
- 35:57Speaker 4: I just don't see Chisholm having that kind of even again,
- 36:00Speaker 4: whoever was on the field that night for the other
- 36:03Speaker 4: team aside like having that kind of dynamic movement like
- 36:07Speaker 4: that kind of thing.
- 36:08Speaker 6: I just watched Edelman, and believe me, I was not
- 36:11Speaker 6: a believer right away in Edelman. So you're absolutely right
- 36:14Speaker 6: to call me out on it because you know the
- 36:15Speaker 6: kind of guys I don't like Mike so so Tim Dwight,
- 36:23Speaker 6: but he's an elite athlete. That's a different that's a
- 36:25Speaker 6: different animal altogether. That's like saying I don't like white corners,
- 36:29Speaker 6: but you know, Kooper Gene, I don't have a spot
- 36:31Speaker 6: for it. You know, like this is an elite athlete there.
- 36:36Speaker 2: With Edelman.
- 36:37Speaker 6: Like I, you know, I just miss almost everything I
- 36:40Speaker 6: see in a preseason game, despite the fact that I'll
- 36:42Speaker 6: be in the balls, discount of furniture studios and make
- 36:44Speaker 6: sure you're tuning into that providing analysis.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Don't discount what you see what.
- 36:48Speaker 6: So like, I think Chisholm had a couple of good
- 36:51Speaker 6: punt returns. I just like, it's so crazy. You don't
- 36:55Speaker 6: know who's out there. Guys that are out there in
- 36:57Speaker 6: combinations of you know that they made me ever even
- 37:00Speaker 6: took a rep covering a punt before, so it can
- 37:02Speaker 6: get that can happen. But I just looked at the
- 37:06Speaker 6: explosiveness that Edelman had and you were like, if this
- 37:09Speaker 6: guy could learn how to play receiver, it might be
- 37:12Speaker 6: something there, Like you could see an athleticism that I
- 37:15Speaker 6: don't see with Chisholm.
- 37:16Speaker 2: No, I I hear that for sure.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I just you know, that's what the hard part is
- 37:20Speaker 1: because I mean I think of Jalen Polk, who just retired.
- 37:23Speaker 6: I also didn't see anything in him.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Had a very active training camp.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Was I mean the five yard pass.
- 37:31Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I mean catching passes, you know, left
- 37:33Speaker 1: and right. But you know that's what's just it's hard
- 37:36Speaker 1: because again I see guys who do nothing and so
- 37:39Speaker 1: it's like it's easy, you know, but a guy who
- 37:41Speaker 1: just like is it or is he just the superstar
- 37:43Speaker 1: of the JV team and that's all he's ever going
- 37:45Speaker 1: to be?
- 37:45Speaker 2: And there are players like that.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that, I'm like Johnny Chisholm's going
- 37:49Speaker 1: to be the superstar kind of a I just don't
- 37:51Speaker 1: want to make a mistake on somebody that might have
- 37:54Speaker 1: some potential if you got to.
- 37:55Speaker 6: If we're going to give if we're going to give
- 37:57Speaker 6: Chis a chance, who we taken off the field, that's
- 37:59Speaker 6: my point is who is he better?
- 38:01Speaker 5: Then he's not better than any of the four guys.
- 38:06Speaker 6: So you have that down on Pop Douglas now that
- 38:08Speaker 6: now he's better than us, I'm.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Saying Pop's great and Chisho might be great too.
- 38:16Speaker 1: I mean, there's no there's nothing I can say other
- 38:18Speaker 1: than if someone's got hurt, to be glad you have
- 38:20Speaker 1: them and you can't go into a team building like
- 38:22Speaker 1: that cut him. I'm just saying, you know, again, I'm
- 38:27Speaker 1: not trying to defend him.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I'm just trying to find.
- 38:34Speaker 4: I say this one last thing, Braxton Burials, Riley McCarran,
- 38:41Speaker 4: Austin Carr like, and then there's one Edelman.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Edelman and welcome and everybody just you know, says, well,
- 38:47Speaker 6: that's who he's going to be.
- 38:48Speaker 4: But those guys came out of nowhere similarly, Like it's
- 38:51Speaker 4: the same story. It's just one out of ten works out.
- 38:54Speaker 6: And that's my point. That's the odds that this is
- 38:56Speaker 6: the one.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Very low ten percent.
- 39:00Speaker 4: But I would just say to you, like I I
- 39:02Speaker 4: don't love the idea of building an offense for Drake May,
- 39:08Speaker 4: specifically out of little option routes from the slot, Like
- 39:12Speaker 4: I I this is a guy that, like he's not
- 39:15Speaker 4: Tom Brady, Like he's not gonna be picking a part
- 39:17Speaker 4: underneath coverage and doing that sort of thing that's not
- 39:21Speaker 4: his his game, that's not the best part of his game.
- 39:24Speaker 4: So like guys like Booty and guys like Kyle Williams,
- 39:27Speaker 4: and I would say even Mac Collins to an extent
- 39:29Speaker 4: that get down the field and win the ball down
- 39:31Speaker 4: the field, like that's those are the types of guys
- 39:33Speaker 4: I want to surround Drake May with.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Just get first downs.
- 39:37Speaker 6: You know, yeah, I know they really struggled to do
- 39:39Speaker 6: that last year.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Like we're gonna just build an offense like that's not
- 39:46Speaker 5: to the quarterback strength.
- 39:47Speaker 2: And now I think you're getting a little dramatic.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Why am I getting dramatic?
- 39:51Speaker 2: What can I build an off an?
- 39:53Speaker 6: It's okay for you to get dramatic, but we can't.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Is that he's going to be great?
- 39:57Speaker 6: Yeah, you just said, God forbid, we want to get
- 39:59Speaker 6: first out. It's not a dramatic sarcastic.
- 40:02Speaker 2: No, I do it with a smile on my face.
- 40:05Speaker 6: So Evan just said, well, we're gonna build with a
- 40:07Speaker 6: smile on his face.
- 40:09Speaker 2: He's upset.
- 40:12Speaker 5: I'm not upset.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I just like just getting up just a little bit,
- 40:15Speaker 2: just a little bit, just.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Like we want to throw five yard passes, but Drake, like.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I'm I'm sometimes when you need three yards, five yard
- 40:22Speaker 3: pass is a good pass.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Sure, but I would rather him throw the ball down
- 40:27Speaker 5: the field.
- 40:27Speaker 1: What I'm saying, I mean, you know, zero blitz might
- 40:29Speaker 1: be nice to somebody.
- 40:29Speaker 6: Can we don't want a forty yard pass someone.
- 40:31Speaker 2: We only need.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Maybe accurate downfield passer in the league. But let's make
- 40:37Speaker 4: an offense out of five yard passes. That sounds like
- 40:39Speaker 4: a great.
- 40:39Speaker 2: All right, good stuff, good stuff.
- 40:41Speaker 6: But I understand what Mike is talking about, Like the
- 40:44Speaker 6: guy has done nothing wrong and.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I'm talking about it. I wouldn't.
- 40:49Speaker 6: I wouldn't get rid of No, yeah, you're not taking
- 40:52Speaker 6: it seriously, Mike is.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I'm kind of knows. I am with my I see
- 40:57Speaker 3: him doing things, you know, and it's like, okay.
- 41:01Speaker 6: I just doing things.
- 41:03Speaker 2: He's biting when he's a puppy. Can he become a dog?
- 41:06Speaker 6: And I'm not necessarily convinced on Kyle Williams either.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Well, that's the next topic. I was gonna, you know,
- 41:11Speaker 1: bring I know he was hurt, and I don't want to,
- 41:13Speaker 1: you know, keep dock him because he's had a quiet
- 41:15Speaker 1: couple of days. But you know, we'd like to like
- 41:17Speaker 1: to see some of that speed. I'd like to see
- 41:19Speaker 1: something there that, you know, to Evan's point of an
- 41:21Speaker 1: element that works with the drake my offense, that they
- 41:24Speaker 1: might they might be missing with that downsfield speed because
- 41:26Speaker 1: I don't we haven't really seen that by itself during camp.
- 41:30Speaker 3: All right, Uh to the phones. We go past five
- 41:33Speaker 3: hundred herms in d C. What's up herm Hey.
- 41:38Speaker 7: What's going on?
- 41:38Speaker 8: Gentlemen?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Hey Ham, you know what day nine.
- 41:46Speaker 9: To go, So don't let him.
- 41:47Speaker 10: Don't let him message you, Mike.
- 41:50Speaker 2: And but two key.
- 41:53Speaker 10: Questions for you guys. I'm big on Gabe Agis and
- 41:58Speaker 10: Elil Raridan And obviously I wanted to I wanted to
- 42:01Speaker 10: ask you guys, how give actress look?
- 42:04Speaker 9: But it looked like he didn't do much.
- 42:06Speaker 10: So I want to shift to Ela Radin for a
- 42:08Speaker 10: second because to me, I feel like the former basketball
- 42:13Speaker 10: players that transitions played tight end. They almost like foolproof
- 42:17Speaker 10: in my opinion. So my first question to you was
- 42:21Speaker 10: how did I know it's super early? Right, I'll get it,
- 42:25Speaker 10: But how did Ela rared it look so far? And
- 42:29Speaker 10: most second question is specifically to spread, when will your
- 42:33Speaker 10: team give us a look of the new facility your
- 42:40Speaker 10: social media team stuff? And I take up here and listen.
- 42:43Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Okay, I'll answer the second question first. That's coming up.
- 42:48Speaker 3: We've actually got a really long inside look at the
- 42:54Speaker 3: training center coming out. It'll coincide with the ribbon cutting
- 42:58Speaker 3: which is coming up about a week.
- 43:00Speaker 6: I actually think we were doing a lot of work
- 43:02Speaker 6: on that today.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Yeah, so your your question will be answered very soon.
- 43:08Speaker 3: And I think you're going to be really happy. You're
- 43:09Speaker 3: going to see everything. So I can't wait for that.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I can't wait to get that out there.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Rare at it? What do you guys think?
- 43:16Speaker 5: Maybe a little.
- 43:17Speaker 4: Quieter the last couple of days he started really really hot.
- 43:20Speaker 4: But I think him and Tanna Arkin are here and
- 43:24Speaker 4: are going to be a part of the offense. I
- 43:25Speaker 4: would maybe just pump the brakes a little bit on
- 43:29Speaker 4: Eli Reard and having great production. It's pretty rare at
- 43:32Speaker 4: that position to have great, great production, nice right out
- 43:37Speaker 4: of the shoot. So you know, I see people on
- 43:39Speaker 4: Twitter like saying, you know, he reminds them of like
- 43:42Speaker 4: Colston Lovelin, who had like fifty catches for seven hundred year.
- 43:46Speaker 2: It was like the ninth pick of the draft.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, it's just I'm not trying to tease.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I just just I would just say that, you know,
- 43:53Speaker 4: I think there's a skill set there and they're going
- 43:54Speaker 4: to work with him. But I wouldn't be blown away
- 43:58Speaker 4: by the production just yet.
- 44:00Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen big charge, We've seen a couple
- 44:02Speaker 1: of rookie tight ends that did nothing back in twenty twenty.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Uh you know, so it's a low bar, but those
- 44:07Speaker 1: guys seem involved and it's hard, you know, especially Arkin
- 44:10Speaker 1: to feel like, you know, he's going to get opportunity
- 44:13Speaker 1: to be a blocking tight end maybe.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Pa see is he the of the camp?
- 44:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, just role specific.
- 44:21Speaker 4: But because there's a role for him without Julian Hill,
- 44:24Speaker 4: then like he's gonna I think he's making the team.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Uh maybe they could, they could try to stash him
- 44:29Speaker 4: on the practice squad, but I think he probably makes
- 44:32Speaker 4: the roster. But okay, you know he's he's out there
- 44:35Speaker 4: a lot on first down, even with Drake, you know,
- 44:37Speaker 4: like starting offense first down, playing on why, playing the
- 44:41Speaker 4: wing a little bit, playing in the backfield some when
- 44:43Speaker 4: Gilliam's not out there.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Very spellin today from the unfortunately run away.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a really good blocker. He was in college
- 44:52Speaker 4: and I think it's so far it's translated.
- 44:54Speaker 1: It was interesting hearing from him yesterday too, just acknowledging
- 44:56Speaker 1: like you know, I'm not very fast, you know, he's
- 44:59Speaker 1: like a it's it, but he knows how to play
- 45:02Speaker 1: around those things and use his physicality. So yeah, football
- 45:05Speaker 1: is a contact Yeah, but it's easy to see maybe
- 45:08Speaker 1: Henry and Arkin will be active and maybe raredan would
- 45:11Speaker 1: be inactive kind of thing, you know, if they don't
- 45:13Speaker 1: find a game day spot for him. But I think
- 45:15Speaker 1: those three guys, I mean, they talked about going out
- 45:17Speaker 1: and getting another tight end, and I mean I don't
- 45:19Speaker 1: know if they're going to do it. Yeah, that'll tell
- 45:20Speaker 1: you how they feel about Arkin if they go out
- 45:22Speaker 1: and get you know, one of these veterans, maybe to
- 45:24Speaker 1: go in and do what he does. But when you
- 45:26Speaker 1: got young legs and young mentality and you're ready to
- 45:28Speaker 1: go out there and kill somebody, it might be the
- 45:30Speaker 1: right fit.
- 45:31Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Connecticut, Nate. We can hear you.
- 45:35Speaker 1: All right, what's up? What I got two questions for
- 45:39Speaker 1: you guys today. A lot of.
- 45:40Speaker 12: Focus on the offense and defense, but we haven't heard
- 45:44Speaker 12: much about Borgallis. I just want to know how he's doing,
- 45:47Speaker 12: how the kicking kicking going. Doesn't he have any competitions good?
- 45:51Speaker 2: According to Alex Barth, I think he's only missed one kick.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Oh okay, I.
- 45:55Speaker 6: Think, but he's been nails.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Then he hit that fifty three yard today. He
- 46:02Speaker 2: made all that.
- 46:03Speaker 4: He made every kick, So I think as of Saturday
- 46:06Speaker 4: he was twenty one of twenty three I don't think
- 46:09Speaker 4: they did any kicking yesterday.
- 46:11Speaker 6: Simulated the kicks yesterday and he went seven for seven today.
- 46:13Speaker 5: So you do the math.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Thirty.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we posted our wrap video not you know, we
- 46:20Speaker 1: wrapped up practice.
- 46:21Speaker 13: Not.
- 46:21Speaker 2: No, we didn't put out rap video, Paul, but we did.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I talked about him. I brought him up and said,
- 46:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's you've had so many kicker competitions. You've
- 46:27Speaker 1: had rookie kickers come in here and the ball goes
- 46:29Speaker 1: sideways on them to not have any question the port.
- 46:35Speaker 6: With helicopters.
- 46:36Speaker 2: So just to be clear, that fifty three yard was
- 46:39Speaker 2: good at the end of the.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Two minute warnings. So I mean the boys were doing
- 46:41Speaker 1: a good breakdown. I mean, do your do your little
- 46:43Speaker 1: breakdown of it. It felt like they, you know, stopped
- 46:45Speaker 1: the drill.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 6: I wanted to ask the ball noer when when Drake
- 46:50Speaker 6: May and the first offense completed a pass I think
- 46:53Speaker 6: it was to Hollands. They rushed to the line. The
- 46:56Speaker 6: clock was running, They got they got over the ball
- 46:59Speaker 6: and they let about I'd say about ten ten or
- 47:02Speaker 6: so seconds off the clock took their time milting down
- 47:07Speaker 6: to four seconds, spiked the ball Boor Galis comes out
- 47:10Speaker 6: and kicks the field goal. Then Tommy DeVito comes out
- 47:13Speaker 6: with the twos or should I call that Efton Chisholm's.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Group came out, thank you and ran.
- 47:20Speaker 6: Now that is what you did.
- 47:22Speaker 2: That is what you did.
- 47:24Speaker 6: That was the example of my background here. So Tommy
- 47:28Speaker 6: DeVito came out with the twos. They had a similar
- 47:31Speaker 6: kind of thing one oh five left, you know, and
- 47:33Speaker 6: moved their way down the field and completed a pass
- 47:37Speaker 6: in a similar spot of the field actually similar distance
- 47:40Speaker 6: for a field goal, and they ran to the line
- 47:44Speaker 6: and spiked it immediately with ten seconds left. I was wondering.
- 47:48Speaker 6: I thought it was weird, why the change.
- 47:50Speaker 4: I thought it was a little odd too. I don't know,
- 47:52Speaker 4: I have no idea what they were telling him or whatever,
- 47:54Speaker 4: but I thought it was a little strange too. I
- 47:56Speaker 4: thought they could have ran one more play after he
- 47:59Speaker 4: completed the past to Hollins is right in the middle
- 48:01Speaker 4: of the field, so it was like pretty easy get
- 48:04Speaker 4: the ball down. The spiked it instantly. I think they
- 48:06Speaker 4: probably would have had eight or nine seconds left and
- 48:08Speaker 4: maybe you can run one more quick out or something
- 48:11Speaker 4: like that, just to get at.
- 48:13Speaker 6: I like these little things and I like to find out,
- 48:15Speaker 6: you know, like I thought, what goes on behind the
- 48:18Speaker 6: you know, goes into it.
- 48:20Speaker 2: You can ask He'll tell you probably, Yeah, I think
- 48:24Speaker 2: he would.
- 48:25Speaker 6: And this is one thing that is sort of one minor,
- 48:29Speaker 6: minor drawback for the being in the new facility is
- 48:32Speaker 6: that's the thing I would have asked him about on
- 48:34Speaker 6: a Monday when he comes in, and I would just
- 48:36Speaker 6: I would stop him and I would say, hey, you
- 48:38Speaker 6: did this this time that time. But I wouldn't like,
- 48:42Speaker 6: it's not waste.
- 48:44Speaker 4: Everybody's looking way too much into He might just say
- 48:48Speaker 4: it just happened to Mike.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Talk to you for a second.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 48:53Speaker 6: And Nate made both field goals. By the way, you
- 48:57Speaker 6: know at the end of those drills.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Uh, it's is Matthews and misery. Does that mean Missura?
- 49:03Speaker 2: What's up?
- 49:04Speaker 3: Matthew? Matthew, Matthew and misery. No, okay, he said misery,
- 49:12Speaker 3: He said misery. Isn't there that the movie Misery with
- 49:16Speaker 3: James conn That was the name of the.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Town, right, Misery.
- 49:20Speaker 6: That was the name of the book.
- 49:21Speaker 2: It was the name of the book. But was the town.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Great misery?
- 49:28Speaker 6: Misery?
- 49:28Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 49:29Speaker 1: It's she breaks his legs.
- 49:33Speaker 6: Maybe that book was took maybe it did take place
- 49:36Speaker 6: in Misery.
- 49:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 49:37Speaker 6: I thought it was the character's name. Oh really, maybe
- 49:41Speaker 6: that was a really good movie.
- 49:43Speaker 2: It was disturbing, you know.
- 49:45Speaker 1: James kneven King novel.
- 49:48Speaker 6: So maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was a book, but
- 49:50Speaker 6: maybe it is.
- 49:51Speaker 14: Miser is the name of the character, Misery chest That's
- 49:57Speaker 14: what I saw, Okay, and will It says it was
- 49:59Speaker 14: an fictional town of Sidewinder.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Okay, Brandon's and Syracuse. What's up, Brandon, Brandon?
- 50:08Speaker 5: I think we might be having some trouble with those.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Brand. What's happening? Oh?
- 50:18Speaker 13: Nothing too much?
- 50:19Speaker 2: Give me just one second, Okay, just call you know.
- 50:23Speaker 6: I'm sorry we caught you at a bad time.
- 50:24Speaker 13: I was no, it's.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Okay, remember the flush. Okay, let's go to Patty and
- 50:34Speaker 3: aga on. What's up Patty?
- 50:36Speaker 2: I think that might be your first Patty, Patty, save us.
- 50:41Speaker 2: I'm here, Okay, hear me?
- 50:44Speaker 15: Yes, Okay, So I just had a question about the
- 50:47Speaker 15: practice on Saturday, specific plate because I was I was there.
- 50:51Speaker 15: I took into practice with one of my favorite pythons, Chris,
- 50:55Speaker 15: with the t I a n and my girls and
- 50:59Speaker 15: a lot of people, my guy Zach from Connecticut who
- 51:02Speaker 15: emails in. But the long play, the long pass that
- 51:06Speaker 15: draked me through to Kyle Williams, that happened right in
- 51:09Speaker 15: front of me, And I know, like I heard a
- 51:11Speaker 15: lot of a lot of the media guys say that
- 51:14Speaker 15: it looked like Williams didn't fight for the ball. But
- 51:18Speaker 15: when I saw him get behind the defense and he
- 51:20Speaker 15: had like at least two to three steps on him,
- 51:22Speaker 15: I felt like the ball came out of May's hands
- 51:24Speaker 15: a little bit spunky, because the ball duffed its way
- 51:27Speaker 15: down the field and like Williams had to like come
- 51:30Speaker 15: back for it. And I don't know, I just thought
- 51:32Speaker 15: I felt like he had a bad rap on that.
- 51:34Speaker 15: And I wanted to see if any of you guys
- 51:35Speaker 15: like saw that play and kind of saw the same
- 51:37Speaker 15: thing that I did.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw it. I thought it was a little
- 51:40Speaker 4: bit underthrown. Now, could you argue that, you know, Keisehan
- 51:44Speaker 4: Boudi had an underthrown pass today from the veto that
- 51:47Speaker 4: he went up and got. But if you're expecting Kyle
- 51:49Speaker 4: Williams to be that kind of player, I don't think
- 51:52Speaker 4: that's really his game. So I would say that I'd
- 51:55Speaker 4: probably put a little bit more of that on the
- 51:57Speaker 4: throw than it would be on Kyle Williams. Could he
- 51:59Speaker 4: be a tracked a little bit better and try to
- 52:01Speaker 4: go up for it.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Maybe, But that's what he's saying. Did Kyle Williams get
- 52:05Speaker 2: a bad rap on that one?
- 52:06Speaker 11: Uh?
- 52:07Speaker 5: Maybe? If I don't know.
- 52:08Speaker 4: I don't know what other people said about it, but
- 52:10Speaker 4: I I would say I put that more on the
- 52:12Speaker 4: throw than on the receiver, just because you have to like,
- 52:16Speaker 4: that's not the receiver's strength. Like if that was AJ Brown,
- 52:18Speaker 4: I would expect J Brown to go up and get
- 52:20Speaker 4: the ball.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I think this whole wide receiver discussion kind of dovetails
- 52:24Speaker 3: into what we were talking about before. We've kind of
- 52:26Speaker 3: seen what we're going to see with Patriots versus Patriots.
- 52:29Speaker 3: We need to see these guys against different competition, different
- 52:33Speaker 3: skill you don't know necessarily what play is coming some
- 52:36Speaker 3: of the time, and see how they do. And it'll
- 52:40Speaker 3: be up to McDaniel's and everybody to figure out the
- 52:43Speaker 3: mix in terms of reps so that they can get
- 52:46Speaker 3: good looks for everybody.
- 52:47Speaker 4: That's been the hardest part. Mc collins and Kyle Williams,
- 52:50Speaker 4: Neft and Chisholm are repping with the Dutes because there's
- 52:52Speaker 4: no opportunity right there to rep with the ones.
- 52:55Speaker 5: Like the ones.
- 52:56Speaker 4: They got four guys over there with Brown and Dobbs
- 52:59Speaker 4: and Pop Douglas, and then Booty mixes in with the ones,
- 53:03Speaker 4: and then you get to the twos, and that's when
- 53:06Speaker 4: even Matt Collins, who's a veteran in this league and
- 53:08Speaker 4: you know, played really well for them last year, he's
- 53:11Speaker 4: wrapping against the twos.
- 53:13Speaker 5: For the most part. It's just an opportunity thing, all.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Right, Thanks Patty.
- 53:17Speaker 1: I called from Aria.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Ari I do like you like Aria. I do like
- 53:23Speaker 2: Ari in Vegas.
- 53:24Speaker 4: No, Aria, I do like Aria, but it's like kind
- 53:34Speaker 4: of a limited menu, like you know, like the other
- 53:36Speaker 4: places in the North End, there's like fifty kinds of pastas,
- 53:39Speaker 4: you know, like you can literally order anything.
- 53:41Speaker 5: Italian. Aria is like a little bit more.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I haven't eaten in the North End in probably twenty
- 53:46Speaker 2: five years.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I haven't eaten the North End in probably three days,
- 53:50Speaker 4: So yeah, I would say that would be my It's
- 53:52Speaker 4: really good and it's pretty swanky in there, but it's
- 53:56Speaker 4: a little some menu is a little tight.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Yeah, well swanky for sure.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Well, Aria is in New York. What's going on? Aria?
- 54:07Speaker 7: How are we doing today? Okay, right, all right, First
- 54:10Speaker 7: of all, I got to give you guys a compliment.
- 54:12Speaker 7: The show's absolutely incredible.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Oh wow, thank you.
- 54:15Speaker 7: Curious. I'm watching you guys right now. The guy am
- 54:17Speaker 7: I right? I'm sorry, I'm unfamiliar with the names. Is
- 54:20Speaker 7: wearing a Patriots merch shirt? Where's your guys merch?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, I didn't. I don't
- 54:27Speaker 2: have merch on today.
- 54:28Speaker 7: I represent We just message you guys, all right, my my,
- 54:32Speaker 7: My real question is like this, there there was definitely
- 54:35Speaker 7: locker room issues with aj Brown last year. That is undoubtedly. Uh,
- 54:40Speaker 7: that was undoubtedly the case. There's a lot of speculation
- 54:44Speaker 7: and then there are things that we actually know now
- 54:48Speaker 7: depending on what that info actually is, that would sort
- 54:52Speaker 7: of indicate if he's going to be a locker room
- 54:53Speaker 7: problem in New England or not. So if it was
- 54:56Speaker 7: a Jalen Hurts issue, or if it was a coaching issue,
- 54:58Speaker 7: then in New England that issue shouldn't be there if
- 55:02Speaker 7: we do things correctly. My question is they're based on
- 55:05Speaker 7: available info, is there a solid case to be made?
- 55:08Speaker 7: That these issues won't be happening in New England.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I would say, not this year. Not this year.
- 55:15Speaker 7: What makes you think so?
- 55:17Speaker 2: It's just the way that these things are.
- 55:19Speaker 3: Like a lot of the players that have come in
- 55:21Speaker 3: in the past, like Randy Moss who had that reputation
- 55:25Speaker 3: for being disgruntled or whatever, that first year is kind
- 55:28Speaker 3: of the honeymoon. You know, he's trying to reverse that,
- 55:33Speaker 3: you know, persona that's been put on them, and these
- 55:36Speaker 3: guys are usually in their best behavior that first year.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Now after that, who knows.
- 55:42Speaker 6: Like he clearly wanted out. He got out and he
- 55:45Speaker 6: went to a place where he's told everybody that he's
- 55:47Speaker 6: always wanted to be right. So with the head coach,
- 55:50Speaker 6: I think it's reasonable to suggest what Fred said is
- 55:54Speaker 6: probably going to happen. It's going to be a honeymoon.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:56Speaker 1: And of the quarterback who seems more than willing to
- 55:58Speaker 1: throw in the ball.
- 55:59Speaker 6: A lot, right, I don't know if he'll get any
- 56:01Speaker 6: more than he did in Philly in terms of targets,
- 56:05Speaker 6: but he's gonna like the guy that's throwing the ball
- 56:07Speaker 6: more than he did in Philly because he didn't like him. Yeah,
- 56:09Speaker 6: I just for whatever happened between the two. They had
- 56:12Speaker 6: a falling out.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I just I just I keep saying this. You know
- 56:16Speaker 3: about last year watching the Eagles and their offense, it
- 56:20Speaker 3: just always seemed to me that there was a portion
- 56:22Speaker 3: of the game like, Okay, now it's time to go
- 56:24Speaker 3: to A. J.
- 56:25Speaker 6: Brown.
- 56:25Speaker 3: It just didn't seem like there was a flow to
- 56:28Speaker 3: the offense when it came to him. It was almost
- 56:30Speaker 3: like forced, we got to keep AJ happy, so let's do.
- 56:34Speaker 5: It poorly coordinated.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just the impression.
- 56:39Speaker 6: I think that's I think that's more than reasonable to expect.
- 56:41Speaker 4: I have not for one second about AJ Brown.
- 56:45Speaker 6: I see how you do it now, just like jumped
- 56:47Speaker 6: right on board, not even first.
- 56:51Speaker 7: I felt also like the run game was killed due
- 56:53Speaker 7: to the fact that they didn't really have that strong
- 56:55Speaker 7: of a deep. You know, they didn't have a double
- 56:57Speaker 7: deep throughout the downfield. I felt like it made covering
- 57:01Speaker 7: the run much easier for defenses across the league.
- 57:05Speaker 3: It's possible, but Drake led the league in downfield, right,
- 57:10Speaker 3: So that's what I'm saying.
- 57:11Speaker 7: Oh, so that that so you say you think that
- 57:14Speaker 7: A J. Brown is going to be the deep threat
- 57:15Speaker 7: in New England? Who do you think is going to
- 57:17Speaker 7: be the you know, sort of running the slot routes
- 57:19Speaker 7: or buck nooks.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Well, I think I think between Kyle Williams and a J.
- 57:23Speaker 3: Brown that you know, should be your deep and then
- 57:27Speaker 3: you've got Pop Douglas over the middle. Hollins can go
- 57:31Speaker 3: over the middle, Dobbs can go over the middle. So
- 57:36Speaker 3: I don't think you're going to see, like in the past,
- 57:38Speaker 3: Troy Brown, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker type of slot guy
- 57:42Speaker 3: who gets one hundred catches primarily out of the slot.
- 57:46Speaker 3: But you're going to see a combination of guys going
- 57:48Speaker 3: over the middle. And I think you're going to see
- 57:50Speaker 3: a J. Brown go over the middle a little bit too.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't. I wouldn't qualify a J. Brown as
- 57:54Speaker 1: their deep threat. I think he's going to be their
- 57:56Speaker 1: everything threat. Yeah, you know when he's going to be
- 57:58Speaker 1: the volume guy. When the other Christian Gonzalez goes to him,
- 58:01Speaker 1: then it should be open season for the other guys.
- 58:04Speaker 2: That's what your hope.
- 58:05Speaker 6: And I think that he might be right about the
- 58:06Speaker 6: running game. That could have a trickle down on the
- 58:09Speaker 6: running game if there's less guys in the box.
- 58:11Speaker 2: I have to play a little bit more.
- 58:12Speaker 3: I think that's what's making people like me excited is
- 58:15Speaker 3: that you can see where the variety of this offense
- 58:18Speaker 3: is coming from, especially now with Gilliam who's going to
- 58:21Speaker 3: help that running game, the offensive line, who seems like
- 58:25Speaker 3: they're going to be better than they've been in the
- 58:27Speaker 3: last few years.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Like Josh McDaniels has a lot to work with here.
- 58:32Speaker 4: There's definitely more variety and more styles of play that
- 58:36Speaker 4: they can move the ball with. And last year, last
- 58:39Speaker 4: year they got into a three receiver eleven personnel kind
- 58:44Speaker 4: of that was sort of their offense for really down
- 58:47Speaker 4: the stretch and for the most of the season. And
- 58:49Speaker 4: part of that is because Drake's obviously really good in
- 58:52Speaker 4: that sort of offense. But you know, their ability to
- 58:55Speaker 4: go to tight end, go heavy with the full back,
- 58:58Speaker 4: that package that they've been running with Brown, Hollands, Gilliam,
- 59:02Speaker 4: Ark and Henry or you know running back or whatever
- 59:06Speaker 4: like that. Those like heavy, big personnel groupings have been
- 59:10Speaker 4: really effective. You know, goal line, red zone type of
- 59:13Speaker 4: stuff have been really fun to watch the different things
- 59:15Speaker 4: that they can do out of those looks. So they
- 59:18Speaker 4: they definitely have more change ups. I would say this year, it's.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Just about execution. Cameron's in Kentucky. What's up? Cameron? Cameraon?
- 59:30Speaker 9: What's going on?
- 59:31Speaker 10: Hey?
- 59:34Speaker 2: You got it? Whoa you do that? You started out
- 59:43Speaker 2: so strong? And then oh well, Brandon is in Casanovia,
- 59:50Speaker 2: New York.
- 59:54Speaker 5: Got to click it.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Brandon, you're there.
- 59:59Speaker 13: I I cut off the first time. I was trying
- 1:00:01Speaker 13: to hook up my metaglasses, and of course they weren't
- 1:00:03Speaker 13: working for me.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: How do you like your meta glasses?
- 1:00:06Speaker 13: By the way, they're phenomenal. I use them while I'm
- 1:00:09Speaker 13: at work. I do bodywork on vehicles here and and
- 1:00:12Speaker 13: I have them on listening to you guys while I'm
- 1:00:14Speaker 13: doing work.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Nice. Do you use the camera feature and all that? Oh?
- 1:00:18Speaker 11: I do? Yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 13: I used to see some of the videos I've taken
- 1:00:20Speaker 13: riding my motorcycle. Everybody loves watching them.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Nice, you put it on YouTube.
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: You can take.
- 1:00:27Speaker 13: Sometimes. I've had a little TikTok that I've done and
- 1:00:31Speaker 13: kind of done little small videos and stuff I done
- 1:00:32Speaker 13: ithing too serious, just for fun.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I got a pair of them.
- 1:00:36Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, Oh cool, I'm nice. Yeah, No, they're really well,
- 1:00:39Speaker 13: they're pretty. I mean, they're smart glasses. So they say,
- 1:00:42Speaker 13: but they have their quirks.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: I tried out the the translation the language translations pretty cool.
- 1:00:50Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, how do you think of that? Has it
- 1:00:52Speaker 13: been pretty effective?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yeah? It is.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I mean, you know, like I don't get to use
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: it a lot, but I'm learning how to use it
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: so that when we go to Munich, maybe I'll I'll
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: use it extensively.
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: Absolutely, that's awesome. Yeah, So I had I had one
- 1:01:07Speaker 13: of the callers already answered kind of one of my
- 1:01:09Speaker 13: questions about A. J. Brown in the in the you know,
- 1:01:12Speaker 13: locker room, uh or other you guys would think that
- 1:01:15Speaker 13: maybe how he's doing. So I have the same feeling
- 1:01:17Speaker 13: too that he might be okay, like you said at
- 1:01:19Speaker 13: the honeymoon, you know year, this year, you know this year.
- 1:01:21Speaker 13: So that's fine. I'm hoping it's not going to be
- 1:01:24Speaker 13: anything more than just that, but you never know. My
- 1:01:27Speaker 13: second thing is this was just kind of a theory,
- 1:01:29Speaker 13: you know, after I saw a video of Matt Collins
- 1:01:31Speaker 13: working out.
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: He looked massive.
- 1:01:34Speaker 13: He looked like tight end massive guy. Would you guys
- 1:01:37Speaker 13: have any would you guys have any objections if we
- 1:01:39Speaker 13: saw him at a tight end position or does he
- 1:01:41Speaker 13: seem like he's not that kind of a guy.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Why are you shrinking away from that?
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: Gets angry?
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I would, I would act. I just think he's gonna
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: play in the slot. He's going to do some blocking,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: but I.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Don't think they're going to put him hand in the dirt.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: You know, have to work.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: I've heard I've heard this question a lot, Brandon, You're
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: not the only person who's brought up.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Matt Collins does the tight end. But it really rankles.
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: That's why I was chunking away. He'd be a really
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: small tight end.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: Thanks, brand doesn't rankle my feathers at all. Okay, I've
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: moved on.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: I mean he's so what does that mean?
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: To twenty one? I mean that's that's.
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: A small tight end.
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: If that's what we want to.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Do, then I think to forty is probably like small,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: like a move tight end. That's like the bottom line.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: You gotta be over to forty.
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: I mean, what's what's uh, tanner arcan like to sixty.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: To sixty five?
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: Right, forty forty, that's a blocking tight end.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: I'm gonna put the two hundred and twenty pound guy
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: in line.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: He's gonna thrown his helmet too. I don't know if
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: you guys caught that yesterday.
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: Oh yeah, caught a lot of things from him. Actually
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: he's a colorful sort.
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: He said, did we have two callers calling in about
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: aj Brown?
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: Like locker room? Any of you thought about that for
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: any No, No, I.
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: Think Fred answered that question.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: Not even it has not even been a thought in
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: my mind. But maybe I just didn't know too deep
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: in the weeds here.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I mean, I was kind of surprised Moss like it
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: kind of sideways with Moss. But I know there are
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: you know, Bill was here, There are send you any circumstances,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: maybe a little bit, but an older receiver like going
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: off the reservation like that, Like I don't know. I
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: just think like he only has so many more bites
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: at the apple, and it's like, you're not gonna shoot
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: your way out of here at thirty two.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Fred's got it and then get another patriot.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: I don't have any concern for twenty twenty six whatever,
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: this what years? I don't have any concern for this year.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: But Fred's right, like all bets are off moving forward.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: Those guys generally find something to be aggrieved by, and
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: that happened to Moss. It happened to Dylan, Like they
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: come in and they have problems elsewhere, and they're on
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: their best behavior and they go through the honeymoon period.
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: I think it's why Stefan Diggs is not a Patriot anymore.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: Quite frankly, you got the honeymoon year out of them.
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: Let's cut ties, yeah, don't push it, yeah, because I
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: think generally something happens.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: What's the contract switch for him next year?
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: He's under contract next yeah, but is it.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: For three more manageable next year? And it should probably
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: wide receiver one money.
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: I mean next year is the end of the guaranteed money?
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: Or is this year the end of the guarantee year?
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: But so like I mean next year, like, he's getting
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: paid like a top ten receiver in football, and if
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: he produces like a top ten receiver in football, then
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: it's it's no problem. But there's no discount, Like it's.
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: Not like he's no, he's well paid.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know, there's three years left on the deal.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: It's a funky contract because the Eagles and the void
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: years and all the craziness with Howie Roseman. So the
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: contract voids and that's where you start to get into
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: some of the cap problems. With it because it has
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: the void years on and then the debt the money
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: is kicked down the road, and then it's like a
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: fifty million dollar cap charge if you get stuck with
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: the contract expiring.
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: So you don't want that to happen.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: So whether they restructure it or whatever at some point
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: would be my guest to get the language a little
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: bit more Patriot friendly. But overall the contract is two
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: more years basically of real money.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Okay, boy, that first hour went by really quick. Let's
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: let's take a break. We'll catch our breath. We'll get

- 1:07:29Speaker 1: It's going to be joining us this year. Everybody, Paul
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: and I pre and postgame show and Jack, you're gonna
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: be taking over the hosting duties. Welcome.
- 1:07:36Speaker 19: I am fired up. Two quick lessons I gotta learn
- 1:07:38Speaker 19: from day sunscreen. How about that little sunscreen? And then
- 1:07:40Speaker 19: I got to follow Polly's footsteps the towel genius. Luckily
- 1:07:43Speaker 19: Fred hooked me up with the napkins. So I'm trying
- 1:07:45Speaker 19: to wipe the sweat here as we go. But it's
- 1:07:46Speaker 19: a pleasure to be here. I'm really fired up by
- 1:07:48Speaker 19: the season. If we have your back for another year.
- 1:07:50Speaker 19: You're adding the seat cushions too. Make sure you make
- 1:07:53Speaker 19: sure you're behind taking care of it.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: And I need that.
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: Okay, it's pretty flat. So I know everybody probably thought
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: we had a player on for our say Jack, play
- 1:08:02Speaker 6: play a little football you Maane, I.
- 1:08:04Speaker 19: Guess shorter arms and Will Campbell. Guys, it was, it was,
- 1:08:06Speaker 19: it was. It was a no for me from the
- 1:08:07Speaker 19: very beginning.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: We'll get the full scouting report on Jack before we
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: get into the first preseason game in a couple of weeks.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: But guys, we did have a practice here today and
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: you know, you guys saw yesterday did a great job
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: breaking down, Drake May raining bombs in the red zone.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: They were a little bit more in the middle of
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: the field this this week or today, I should say.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Mike Rabel said they were doing a call it which
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: seemed like situational football, we know, going through the downs.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: But overall, I thought there were a few plays but
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: it seems like things are a little bit There were
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: sloppy to Paul, there was interceptions. There were some balls
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: on the.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: Ground here, and I thought it was a little more
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: even today. I thought the defense made some disruptive plays
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: as well. I thought there was some immediate pressures. I
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: didn't know about the tempo of the actual plays, how
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: they were running today. I thought they were a little
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: bit more live yesterday than they were today. But you know,
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: Drake May continues to throw the ball reasonably well, I think,
- 1:08:55Speaker 6: and then you're starting to see I think Rotemeo Dobbs
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: show up a little bit more. You had a little
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: bit less from some of the other guys today, so
- 1:09:02Speaker 6: I thought, you know, you had to. You mentioned the interceptions,
- 1:09:05Speaker 6: so you had one for May, one for Tommy DeVito.
- 1:09:09Speaker 6: But overall I thought it was a little bit back
- 1:09:11Speaker 6: and forth today for the offense and defense.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I felt a little bit like the dog days
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: of training camp are here and guys have been passed
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: three straight days and it's.
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: Hot and the day off tomorrow.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: So maybe a little bit more uh, sloppiness today, especially
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: from the offense. The balls on the ground a couple
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: of times with a few fumbles and the interceptions that
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: you guys mentioned. Uh, Jackie, you've played offensive line, so
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: you got to school these guys on this.
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: But we got a lot of pressure.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I played offensive line in high school too, thank you
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: very much, just so he doesn't have to school him.
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm passing the baton. He love it on
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: the offensive line talk. But up front there, I thought
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: there were some issues with some of the stunts in
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: the games that the defense was running. Elijah Ponder, Draymond Jones,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: a couple of guys in there.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: Uh, And so I thought that was something that impacted
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: practice a little bit too. And as this new offensive line,
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: and you know, some guys were out today no Vera
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: Tucker Morgan Moses continues to kind of rotate with kayleb Blomo.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: So a couple of things that have stood out there
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: in terms of the pass rush, maybe not the standard
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: fore man rushes. Those seem to be blocked up pretty well.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: But once you start running all those games up front,
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: that's when it got a little dicey.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: You guys can speak this way better than I can.
- 1:10:21Speaker 19: Having watched so many of these training camp practices, the
- 1:10:23Speaker 19: run game seems like it needs to get going.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Is that a training camp thing?
- 1:10:26Speaker 19: Is that maybe some questions about about how efficient is
- 1:10:29Speaker 19: here has been early on.
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: Yeah, it's been quiet. It is hard to evaluate it
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: when they're not tackling to the ground. But I thought
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: the way evn't put it, there were guys I thought
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: knifing through and being making just shot. That's why I
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: thought there was more disruptive plays on defense. I just
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: was really just talking about interceptions. I thought, fifty one
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: is that Riley Riley Wilson. Yet Riley Wilson, I thought
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: he was blowing up plays he put.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: Somebody on his But I one of the rookie running backs.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: I don't know what thirty nine or thirty they kind
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: of all.
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: I thought there were a lot of plays around the
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: line of scrimmage that never really had a chance to
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: get going. Screen passed. Alarison was one of the fumbles
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: that Evan talked about. So yeah, I thought the running
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: game is not anywhere near where you wanted to be.
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: But Vara Tucker missing from left guard is a big difference.
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: And I did think that Ben Brown, who took his spot,
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: struggled for the most part today. Moses, you know, he
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: was out there for the team periods, he wasn't out
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: there for the individual stuff, so you know, there was
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: a lot of mixing and matching today.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: I think Mike hit it right in the open though.
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: It's just dog days of August even you know, it's
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: only August, firsh And that's what.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I think the coaches want to get to this point
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: when you got to push through that mental toughness and
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: find it when it's hot and when it's hard, especially
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: when some new players getting opportunities.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: Everybody wants to know. Of course, how Drake did.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I mean, he did have one really nice backshot shoulder
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: throat to AJ Brown. Don't panic, A J. Brown did
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: walk off the field. He didn't, he didn't come back.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: But Mike Rabele did say they were going to limit
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: some of these guys today, as Paul pointed out, So
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I don't think there's any reason to panic. However, Kyle
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Williams did also go off with a trainer and was
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: getting looked at, so that's something away.
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: He came back, well, he came back into and he
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: was doing what I thought was interesting, a lot of
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: work with on special teams, with the gunners and the
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: vice guys. So he's clearly trying to find himself a
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: game day role.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: So returner maybe we.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: Talked about that.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: I mean, anything to use his speed, you know, whether
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: it's gunner covering punts or returning kickoffs. I think both
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: of those things are our roles for him. You know,
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: I've talked a lot about the third running back also
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: being involved in those kickoff returns, So getting speedback there
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: is obviously the type of play that it is. So
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: I could see Kyle Williams potentially filling in there and
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: and maybe earning a roster spot because Ft and Chisholm,
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: he's going to play on special teams. You know, he's
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: going to be a backup returner and he's going to
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: be able to maybe cover kicks too. So I think
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: Kyle Williams got to learn special teams. That's going to
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: have to be a path.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Jack your first time at KIM What what stood out
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: to you today?
- 1:12:48Speaker 19: First off, A lot of credits to you guys watching
- 1:12:50Speaker 19: all that chaos, especially when everyone's an indie, you know,
- 1:12:52Speaker 19: watching everyone, it's almost impossible to follow, especially the guy
- 1:12:55Speaker 19: with the ADHD. I'm something, so I tip the caps
- 1:12:59Speaker 19: you guys. I thought it was very interesting to watch
- 1:13:02Speaker 19: that live period at the end with the threes. I
- 1:13:04Speaker 19: think that that's kind of this time of year. I
- 1:13:06Speaker 19: love those battles, right, I'm biased. I played with Xavier
- 1:13:09Speaker 19: Holmes right so watching him and king on him, just
- 1:13:11Speaker 19: watching a guy.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Fight for a spot.
- 1:13:13Speaker 19: I think that's what's always so intriguing about these training
- 1:13:15Speaker 19: camp practice. And there's plenty of battles across the board
- 1:13:17Speaker 19: here at PATS Camp.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: Yeah, live tackling to the ground, which we don't see
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: you very often in practice. And they've done it both days,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: just with the threes. Don't worry, they're not tackling Drake
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: May all right, but just with the threes.
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: But we saw it yesterday, we saw it today. I
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: don't know if you guys recalled did we see that
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: last summer? I don't remember Mike Rabel having live tackling.
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: I definitely don't remember this amount of reps for the
- 1:13:39Speaker 6: threes period last year. I think that's a testament. Mike
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: was asked about it before practice. I think it's a
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: testament to you know, Morton and some of those receivers,
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: you know, I think Cameron Dormer, Riley Dixon. I think
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: these guys have shown up and made some plays when
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: they've been given opportunities. And I think because of that,
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: Mike feels compelled to give them more opportunities.
- 1:14:00Speaker 19: I would like to toss you guys, you know, warm
- 1:14:01Speaker 19: up the softball here. Kyle Williams obviously named fans are
- 1:14:04Speaker 19: very curious about a great day offensively, is that upside
- 1:14:07Speaker 19: that it is going to make it a tough call
- 1:14:09Speaker 19: for them, a really tough decision here at the end
- 1:14:11Speaker 19: of the month.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's starting to show up here
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: in the last couple of days. I mean, you guys
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: saw Yesterday's what he ever.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: I don't know what he did yesterday. Ye yeah, he
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: had a good day.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Yeah. So it's just been making most of his of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: his opportunities, I think, and that's what we've talked about.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: That's why I like him as a kickoff returner. It's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: a spot where they don't really have an obvious guy
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: and maybe if he can add some speed to that,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: maybe some game changing ability, because early in the camp's
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: almost felt like an afterthought with the kickoff returner.
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: Yeah, Kyle Williams.
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: Yesterday I thought was kind of like his breakout practice,
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: if you want to call it that, and you know,
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: finally started to notice him a little bit. Then today
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: I thought he was behind the defense on that deep
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: ball and Drake May under threw that.
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Pass a little bit.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: It was so he went right through the middle of
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: the field and he was going to be gone and
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: the ball just hung up in the air on Drake
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: May a little bit. So I thought the last couple
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: of days we've seen a little bit more Kyle Williams.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: Paul you mentioned to me, I think before practice, maybe
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: a little less Kaisehon. He did have a catch today,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: but maybe a little bit that hype train slowing just
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: a tad and maybe Kyle Williams picking up the torch
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: a little And.
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: One last thing, Mike before you, I know, you have
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: to do your your wrap up. Well, we got to
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: at least a chance to see yeah Gay back us,
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: you know, so he was not in full pads and
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: very limited. Mike said he would be limited, and he was,
- 1:15:20Speaker 6: but I did get to see him sort of working
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: on some punk protection stuff. He rocked one of the coaches,
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: Mike Smith. Yeah, Mike, I don't know any of the coaches.
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: So I made an audible noise when that happened.
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: History.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: So that Sunday that we were playing the Jets and
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: their PR guy comes up to me while I'm sitting
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: there and he's like, you know what you wrote isn't true.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: We're not censoring the clips. I'm like, well, you're not
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: giving two of them, right. He's like, yeah, but that's
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: not censoring. The guy sitting next to me goes sounds
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: like censorship to me, and he just walked away.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Another one for Fred.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: A lot of people skin they hated me. Oh yeah.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: So the other thing I wrote in the paper. We
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: were talking.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: I was talking about the draft, how it's unfair that
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: every at that time, every year, the draft was in
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: New York. I said that wasn't fair because people in
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: the crowd it's all New York fans, and you know,
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: so I said they should come up with a new
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: thing that the team that has the first pick. That's
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: where the that's the city where the draft should be.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: I said, But on second thought, that'd be the Jets
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: every year anyway. So again, like Gold, we get a.
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: Letter, you know, comic styling.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: You're a member of another team. You shouldn't be saying
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: this about another team. And like, you know, for a while,
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: like I was like enemy number one.
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: You know, it's a metalware of them.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: Do not let this man.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: So the vice president of pr for the league sent
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: the Crafts a letter about me saying that I'm a
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: pain in the app And Jonathan showed me the letter.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: He's like, I just got this from Dan Brown. Joe Brown.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: I just got this from Joe Brown. He does good job.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: That's another great moment from all Right.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: You got your first glimpse at the new host of
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: the pre and post game show, Jack Webb. Yeah, a
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: little bit nikov he's got the Nikovich beard, good solid beard.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, we're talking some some center quarterback exchange.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Played played center at U Maine.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: The center.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, he started a guard and they moved or
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: maybe tackle. They moved him inside the center.
- 1:17:42Speaker 6: I thought he was a slot receiver.
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: Well, maybe he should try out for maybe he should.
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: Be a tight end.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Maybe I know what that ankle he's got.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: I'm worried about him a little bit.
- 1:17:52Speaker 6: Yeah, he's playing hurt.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Absolutely, We're making him walk all over the building and
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: he's nervous on the hill too.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: So he'll be joining us, and we have another new
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: person who will be on the show, but we'll kind
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: of keep that a little bit of a secret, make
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: maybe more of a surprise.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: So I we're excited.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: It's gonna be It's gonna be different, a good dynamic
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: this year, I think so.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so fall you all right, I'm all right. Paul
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: doesn't like change.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: You know, he doesn't like change until he gets into
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: it and then he's like all right. Then it's like
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: when and he was depressed and then he got me.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: He said, all right, just changes my personality.
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: That's all that was good. I have to be stifled.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: No, you don't have to be Yeah.
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: I goldn't have to be oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: All right, let's go to Chris with a T. I
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: A N.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: Christian?
- 1:18:39Speaker 9: It's Christian from l A.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: But right, I know, I.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I guess I was just confused.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: I was just being hopeful and when Christian yeah out.
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: So you know that old adage that it's okay for
- 1:18:58Speaker 9: me to criticize my family, but it's not okay for
- 1:19:00Speaker 9: you to criticize my family.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Yes, that happens here all the time.
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: I felt a little bit of that this week when
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: like this Aaron Rodgers thing where he's like going after
- 1:19:11Speaker 9: Mike Rabel calling for an investigation about potential tampering and
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: illegal information sharing with Deanna, and it feels like okay,
- 1:19:20Speaker 9: you know when we talk about it in home and
- 1:19:23Speaker 9: how it's okay, But with this guy literally trying to
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: disrupt our team, I feel like with us playing this
- 1:19:29Speaker 9: guy week two, maybe Mike Rabel might have a special
- 1:19:33Speaker 9: blitz or two set up for Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Maybe, But wasn't he really taking more shots at ESPN
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: We're not covering it more?
- 1:19:43Speaker 9: No, No, he says like, yeah, you can't have to
- 1:19:45Speaker 9: talk about it, and he wants to leave to look
- 1:19:47Speaker 9: into potential tampering, and like she was also an MVP
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: voter and she was a Coach of the Year.
- 1:19:53Speaker 12: Voter, so.
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you know it was an attack on the media.
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: ESPN gonna meet it.
- 1:20:00Speaker 9: But calling for Mike Able to be investigated.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: No, I don't know anyway, whatever, I'll take your word
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: for it.
- 1:20:06Speaker 6: I didn't see all their comments extensively that was not
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: covered here.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: I hope they I hope they blitzed the hell out
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: of them anyway, you know, I mean.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: I probably will.
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: It can't move right.
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: I hearn Aaron Rodgers said some stuff. I did not
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: pay any attention.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: To what else you got.
- 1:20:21Speaker 9: You?
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: That's what I what I saw. Yeah, what else you got?
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: Don't get anything good? Tesla anything like that?
- 1:20:28Speaker 14: You know?
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Mansions?
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: Can you guys identify someone on both sides of the
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: ball where you put in the cut compete or cash
- 1:20:39Speaker 9: in category meeting? You know better likely to be cut?
- 1:20:42Speaker 9: One guy that's in the thick of it, competing in
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: his position, and then one guy you guys think of
- 1:20:47Speaker 9: poise to cash in?
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Pois to catch cash in?
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Drake May, Yeah.
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: He's doing the three guys or oh, you're gonna.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: Tell us we just got to come. Oh you're just
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: asking us, all right, so you'll you'll hang up and listen.
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: Well, poise to cash in, wouldn't that be Gonzales I.
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: Was gonna say, there's only one answer for that.
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: Right, He's going to get a contract. Well, we think
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: he's going to get a contract.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: But hopefully it doesn't take the whole season.
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think in the summer.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: What about bar More getting another contract?
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: No, okay, I think that.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good question. They're kind of in a
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: sweet spot right now. I feel like where they got
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: some young guys who aren't going to be up with
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: other cut can't compete, right, I'm gonna marry gay back.
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: Is is anybody like is there a surprise cut candidate anywhere?
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: Like, I don't mean if you count one of those
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: wide receivers, like yeah, you know, like mc collins were.
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: To be Mac Collins. If that was Mac Collins, I
- 1:21:55Speaker 6: think would be a surprise cutter if he wasn't part
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: of this.
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean there's seven of them, so someone's got
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: to go.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but I.
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: Wouldn't consider like if they traded Booty, I would not
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: consider that a surprise. He's been on the trade block
- 1:22:06Speaker 6: for two years now.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: Well, maybe they end up, you know, cutting Mac Collins.
- 1:22:10Speaker 6: And that would be a surprise.
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: I'm surprised.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: That's the definition.
- 1:22:15Speaker 6: It's a surprise, just.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Exercise and they talk about players that you think, really
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: he could I would.
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: Have a hard time with them.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: I just you know that I don't want the aggregators
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: to be like Glazaarre Colon mac Collins.
- 1:22:31Speaker 6: Too much. I just I don't worry about enough.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: Like just with him, I just wonder because he's a
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: vested veteran, he doesn't have to go through waivers, and
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: like whoos Him and Kyle Williams are two young players
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: that you might think have some upside and they would
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: have to be put on waivers. So, like, is there
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: a world where he's like Brandon Bolden and they cut
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: them and say don't pack your bags and then figure
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: out a way to get him on the roster after
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: the all of the dust settles. It's just a theory.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: It could happen, but it would still be a surprise. Yeah.
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: Compete would be guys like Tanna Arkin, Yeah, you know,
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: Chad Mulma, your guy, Karan Karan Prunty, absolutely very competitive guy.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: That's a good one.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Ian's in New York? What's up? Ian?
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Do you guys?
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: Can you hear me? Yeah?
- 1:23:21Speaker 8: I was wondering for me. One of the big narratives
- 1:23:23Speaker 8: from last season is that we the second most points
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: per game for offense, but we were twenty fifth per sack.
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: I was wondering what you guys attributed that to. Was
- 1:23:33Speaker 8: it more of Tricks may scrambling style, or was it
- 1:23:37Speaker 8: the offensive line? And if it's one of those or
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: the other, do you think we've improved in that front
- 1:23:43Speaker 8: in the off season.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: I thinks early on in the year, I would say
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: a lot of those sacks were on Drake May, and
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: he even came up to the podium and would say
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: a lot of these sacks are on me. Later on
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: in the year, I think the offensive line started to
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: decline and Campbell gets hurt and you know, things start
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: to happen, and maybe it was more on the line
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: in the playoffs, I would say than it was on
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: Drake May.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: So maybe a little bit of both.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: But it's one number, you know, two numbers really, the
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: sack total and also his pressure to sack rate is
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: a sack avoidance, if you will. That are two numbers
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: that were on the higher end of the spectrum that
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: they probably ideally would get lower his second year in
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: the system. But we also have talked about, like that's
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: just his game, and like how much do you want
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: to take away the scrambling and the play extension and
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff. If you love the plays
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: when they break down and he makes these ridiculous plays
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: after the play breaks down, then you have to let
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: him try to do it.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: You can't just say, yeah, you know.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Some of their biggest plays and the biggest wins that
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: they had were those exact kind of plays.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: Right, So it's a tough line.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: I'd say the style of quarterback that he plays tends
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: to get sacked more than a pocket passer, you know,
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: that's getting the ball out quickly.
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: Thanks Ann, And you figure that the detection itself should
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: be better with Campbell and Wilson in their second years,
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: they should be better. You take it, you know, a
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: step forward as in the year two, and you bring
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: in a veteran like AVT that that should that should
- 1:25:12Speaker 6: be better. That's why I just went with the AVT. Yeah,
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: so you would think the protection overall should be better.
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: But yeah, I think a lot of the numbers are
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: going to come down to Drake may too, because I
- 1:25:24Speaker 6: think that you guys described it properly. That's that's something
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: that's in his game and you don't want to take
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: it out of his game.
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: I just remember early on in the year last year,
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: there's a lot of sacks, like he was the high
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: amount of sacks and like franchise record amount of sacks,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: like all the trends were heading in that direction, and
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: he took a lot of ownership in.
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: That it wasn't a NFL record in the playoffs. Yeah right, yeah, yes,
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: twenty one something like that.
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: Chris with a tia and the real one, the real
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: one writing yea, Saturday's practice was a blast. My big
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: takeaway is that the offense is well big, especially at
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: wide receiver. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out. Fred,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: we were wondering who the big guy was you were
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: talking to. Turns out it was the new host of
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: the pre and post game show. Welcome Jack Webb. I
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: know you guys say this at ad nauseum, but the
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: experience of going to camp is wonderful and if you
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: can make it down, it's absolutely worth it.
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: And thanks for stopping by. Christian. It's nice to see hi.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I'm bummed out we didn't we didn't see him.
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: Yeah well yeah, I mean everyone was up in the
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: ramps anyway, but I was down there.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: We didn't have any PU shoutouts, really down at the.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: Matt writes in I wanted to know a couple of things.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: Would you say, well, Campbell was abysmal last year? Why
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: is there a consensus that he was one of the
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: worst tackles in the league.
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: He was in the playoffs?
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think up to the injury.
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: He wasn't a bus I haven't read anybody say that
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: he was abysmal last year.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: Abysmal it's way strong now, did not have a good playoffs?
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: Did what was not good? No, So you know he's
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: got a little bit of a bounce back.
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: He need to hire some of these guys to feed
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: this stuff to the coaching staff when they're looking for
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: these things.
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: You know, they have like code words that they search for.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: We have to see will Campbell play in games before
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: I totally crown him. But I do like the way
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: that he's responded, Like I feel like confidence wise, like
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: some guys, with the playoff performance that he had and
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: especially the Super Bowl, like that could kill a young
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: player's confidence for good. Yeah, and I don't get that
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: impression from him. I almost got the impression that it
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: like motivated him. Yeah, you know, we'll see, Like, we'll
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: see if it.
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: I would, like I said, I would expect him and
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: Wilson both to be to be significantly better in year two.
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: But I don't think either one of those guys was
- 1:27:51Speaker 6: abysmal last year.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: I really like I just like, I think, like, you know,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: the way he handles himself, you know, good answers direct.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: I do like the way you know, you just want
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: him on this team for a long time.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he you know, I just if you separate all
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: the position talking, all that stuff out of it, just
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: the kid that he is and the player that he is.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: I just I think he brings an edge to the team.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: And you know, I just I'd love to see him
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: really settle into that left tackle position and not have
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: to worry about it. And you know, we saw it
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: after practice today. You saw Will Campbell and Drake May
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: after practice with their you know, Drake with his wife
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: and Will Campbell with his fiance and you know, and
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: yak and I'm like, man, this would be great to
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: just have this connection and you know, really believe in
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: both these guys, two key positions, and you really like
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: them and they're just easy guys to root for, both
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: of them.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Also, Matt wants to know any impressions of defensive tackle
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Casey Rogers.
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: He's only been two practices the uf UFL Yeah, I
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: thought he had a.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: Couple of good reps today.
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: The first practice was a little rough, but as you
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: would expect for a guy that was not signed and
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: came into the middle of training camp. But today I
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: thought he did had a couple of sheds, a couple
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: of good block you know, getting off blox, things like
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: that with the threes.
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: So we'll see if Darius wants to know who looked
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: the part more, Keon White or gab Accis.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: Acus looks like, yeah.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: I know, I'm not going to jump to that look
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the part yet. I mean they both have a hard
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: time getting past looking the part. Now he wasn't he
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: didn't play the part. Yeah, I'll be the first to
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: admit he didn't play the part. But he's like my guy,
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: Mauri Gainer. I can't he look.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: I know, I like a lot more as a player.
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: Yeah, totally different skill set.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I never was like to, well, he's doing what he's
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: always done. This has been him like he's been an
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: edge player his whole career. Whe was on the problem
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: ball and you never really knew where he was going
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: tween her very stiff, and I mean he's powerful guy.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: And I think this is a good question though for accus,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: you know, to Evan's point of can he be more
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: than just a power guy? Can he have some moves?
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Can he have some counters? Can he get under guys?
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: You know that that will really round him?
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: Curious to see him play all around players?
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, he's got some.
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: I think is a power guy, but we'll be curious
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: to see him play.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: He's got some I got some fluidity to him in
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: the run against the run, like I see him slip
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: some box and like get around guys. But like the
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: pass rush is linear, like there's no doubt that he's
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: a bull rusher like that. I but I I think
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: that you know, line games like that sort of like
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: that's gonna be the other dimension for him is like
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: you know, he's gonna be a menace on stunts, So like,
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: you know, those are the things I think now if
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: you're gonna ask him to like mister Miagi and all
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: of a sudden he's got all these moves and things
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: like that, I'm not sure, but power go right through people, stunts, picks,
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: things like that.
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: I think he'd be effective with that.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: I got sorry, can I interrupt you?
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: Well, you already did, keep going.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: I just want to bring out. Evan and I talked
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: about this on the rants, and I think this is
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: a big defensive storyline that we haven't really touched on yet.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: And I you know, when they signed Kevin Byrd, and
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: it wasn't just us, it was you know, people that
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: I watch around the league saying that he's a free safety.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Now that's you know, he's gonna play in the back
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: end of the defense. And what we've seen here in
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: camp is that they're continued to use him and Craig
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Winson interchangeably sending Byered on blitz send Woodson on blitzes.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: He's playing down, he's playing back. So you know, Evan
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: and I were talking up on the ramps about, you know,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: is this sustainable, can he do this? Can he hold
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: up playing inside? Is this going to best serve the defense?
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: Where this is a guy who's super smart, super experienced.
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: You've heard the other players talk about how he's so
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: smart and he just knows where, you know, the ball
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: is going to go, and he seems to find it there.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I hope that does they don't lose that from him.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: And I wonder maybe at some point, if it's not
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: working this season, if they do go to a more
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: traditional set where it's Devin mccordy on the back end making,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: you know, cleaning everything up, getting everybody on the same page,
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: you know, and Chung down below doing the work like
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Woodson could. And I you know, I think it would
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: benefit Woodson when we saw today those guys are flying
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: off the edge.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: But do we have to be careful about what we
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: see early in camp because this is a time where
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: you try stuff, and you know, once they get later
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: in camp, maybe you.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Will see Buyer as that center field. Yeah.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: I just I think what Deuce is kind of going
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: off of the like his tape last year. Like I
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: think when he got into situations where he was playing
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: man to man on tight ends last year, was Dicey
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: just at this point of his career. So I agree
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: that they're schematically, I'm not getting too caught up in
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: what they're doing in practice. But I don't know if
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: he he reminds me so much of mccordy at the end.
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: Like Devin mccordy at the end, was he was a
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: field general, back there like he was not. He was
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: no longer the player that was going to cover guys
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: man to man, you know, but he could play in
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: the back end. He was going to get everybody, you know,
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: all the ducks in a row. He was going to
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: range over the top was still there. He just wasn't,
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: you know, fast enough anymore, dynamic enough to cover guys.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: And I see similar traits with Bayern, But that doesn't
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: mean he can't be a useful player. It's just understanding
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: his strengths and weaknesses at thirty three that maybe they
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: weren't in twenty nineteen when Rabel first had him in Tennessee.
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Tom and Edinburgh, Scotland. Are you part of the Tartan Army?
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: Tom, I'm glad you guys continue to bring the energy
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: and have plenty of shows. They keep me going through
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: my long runs during marathon training cycles. Luble brag seventh
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: Marathon coming up in New York.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: It's a lot of ryme.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Woll good for you.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: I have an opinion on the Booty trade talk. I
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: think we should keep him. I'm not trying to overhype
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: him or anything, but he catches the ball. It is
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: a reliable target, much like Dorset. Mike, Oh, I'd like to.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: I'd look to off I looked who who we compared
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: to Dorset.
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: Booty Booty, Philip Dorset.
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: I think he means yeah, No. Tom Curran actually said
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: something to me two days ago, and I'm trying to remember.
- 1:33:43Speaker 6: I don't know if it was Booty, Well, Kyle Williams.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: Skill set wise, he's much more Kyle Williams.
- 1:33:51Speaker 6: I think it was Kyle Williams he was talking about
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: like kind of reminded him of like maybe a little
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: Philip dor Set. That's funny, Like was like, what are
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: the odds that you know two different people use Philip
- 1:34:01Speaker 6: doris Set as a comp It's not like, oh he
- 1:34:03Speaker 6: reminds me of Edelman, you know, or he reminds me
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: of Gronk, Like he reminds me of Phillip doris Set.
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: I like to.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: I look to Offloaw Douglas. I personally don't see him
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: fitting into the system. He just looks like the odd
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: one out and struggles in games. I can see the athleticism,
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: but I don't see him being good enough developed Chisholm instead,
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: who can offer something more with his thicker Bill and.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: I would push back on that. I think. I think
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: that Pop Douglas done a really good job kind of developing,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: continuing to develop. I think he's a good.
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: I think he does look good. He looks good.
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: He's in the slot every time they go through receiver,
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: he's fast.
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: I just think it's such a perception thing. And I
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: know I've made this point a million times. The numbers
- 1:34:42Speaker 6: for him and Booty are the same. For some reason,
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: Booty is every you know, irreplaceable, and everybody just wants
- 1:34:48Speaker 6: Douglas to go. I just don't really get it. I
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: don't understand they had virtually the same exact efficiency numbers.
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: It was like mid forties targets, low thirties receptions for
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: sim amount of yards. Big plays are.
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: Both and you know what about in the playoffs.
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: One of the biggest plays of the playoffs was the
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: Tomorrio Douglas fourth down conversion for a touchdown and give
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: him the lead against Houston. Okay, you know, and Booty
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: put that same game away with a one handed catch
- 1:35:16Speaker 6: for a touchdown. Like those were two huge plays in
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: that game.
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: Pete and Jupiter Florida. I saw that Jalen Pok retired
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: this weekend. The timing was perfect for me since I'm
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: listening to the twenty twenty four draft show when he
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: was drafted. I'm currently on day three listening to Mike
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: rant about how annoyed he is with people who were
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: disappointed with the pick, and how he Mike is all
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: in on Polk what went wrong.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: As Paul would say, I have PTSD zero recall. Also,
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: is it funny?
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: It is funny listening to Mike being so passionate knowing
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: how it all turned out.
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: Well, that's what happens.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: Unbelievable to me that people their time listening to shows.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: It's not a waste of time if they're listening to
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: our show.
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: From three years ago.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: No, I don't care if it's thirty years ago.
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: Waste of time.
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: No, that's a good one.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: No.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: And I remember when they drafted on it, we were
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: all kind of all done. Oh yeah, I don't. I mean,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: if you're gonna do this job and you don't do that,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: then you're not doing anything. But I remember they drafted
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: him and I, you know, and we were kind of
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: like And then when I went back to my notes
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: and stuff in the second I remember coming back to
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: that show on day three, and I remember you're being
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: angry and like, I want to be more positive about
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: this pick, and I did. I like Jalen Polk. I
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: thought he had good hands. I thought, you know, I
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: didn't see the lack of speed that everybody else apparently saw.
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: I think he does have good hands.
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: I didn't actually think that Jalen Polk's issues were anything
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: to do with his ability.
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: Honestly, I think it just got proven. I mean, I
- 1:36:39Speaker 6: don't have any idea what's going on in Jalen Polk's life,
- 1:36:42Speaker 6: but it's not normal that a twenty four year old
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: kid decided to retire. And by all accounts, Evans guy
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: Nick Hundry Hill, who used to be here in New
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: England who covers the Saints extensively, was saying how involved
- 1:36:53Speaker 6: he was early on in the camp practices.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: Yeah, more than football.
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: He also said that he's not hurt.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: This is something something going on and that Dad, I
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: think is maybe something that they've gotten better at with,
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: you know, the way that the organization is structured now.
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: I think in twenty four, like vetting, that kind of
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: stuff kind of slipped through the cracks, like mental toughness
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: and what's between the years. And like I was mentioning
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: Campbell earlier, Like Campbell could easily go into the tank
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: because of how he played in the Super Bowl if
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: he was mentally fragile, you know, and he doesn't seem
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: to be doing that. But a guy like Jalen Polk
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: doesn't get one foot in bounds on a catch in
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: the back of the end zone and basically disappeared and
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: retired two years later. Yeah, you know, like literally because
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: of a heel and a toe to stark way to
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: put it.
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: But I think you're right, Like, if he gets his
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: foot in bounds in that game, I'm not saying he's
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: going to be Randy Moss, but like that play haunted
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: him for the rest. He brought it up months later
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: at times like it truly haunted him.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Well you see the signs now, I mean you point
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: him out, Paul, I mean the moments in the locker
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: room where he stepped in it. You know, it said
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I have the greatest I think I have the great
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: his hands in the NFL, you know, all those kind
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: of things. But I compare it to that Na Kashan Budi,
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: a guy who didn't get a foot in bounds but
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: stuck with it and found a way to kind of
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: destride and contribute.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: Anthony writes in about Stephen A. Smith's comments on First Take.
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: He basically said, we have no chance to win the
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: division and we were lucky as hell because of our schedule.
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: I find this to be crazy as it stands where
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: he got it way better from last year? Is he
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: living under a rock? Am I crazy to say we
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: have a top ten roster in the NFL?
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: Talent wise? There's star level talent across the roster.
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: I think you're crazy for listening to Steven A.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: Smith.
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: Yeah he's you know, yeah, I mean I think the
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: roster has improved. I think it's not crazy to call
- 1:38:43Speaker 6: it a top ten roster. I think there was ranking
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: that had at seven on ESPN from earlier in the show.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: Was that right?
- 1:38:50Speaker 6: One of the highest rated shows that we've done in
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: this offseason was the Salt and Pepper broadcast with Evan
- 1:38:56Speaker 6: Lazarre and Paul Parrella.
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: Seems like we get made fun of a lot.
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: We talked about that that very thing. Seventh best roster,
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: third best in the AFC according to those rankings. I
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: don't know who compiled them, but I don't think it's
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: crazy to suggest that.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: I believe that was from their analytics people.
- 1:39:12Speaker 6: FPI stuff.
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, David Bethlehem less end now David and Bethlehem
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: Pop is slide of Bill Williams is a speedster, but
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: don't see much wiggle. Hollins can get injured too. If
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: any get hurt, Chisholm is.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: The best player to take the spot, more versatile than
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: Pop Williams and Holland's opinion, Williams is not very durable.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: The most important ability is availability. A Ferrari with a
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: flat is not going.
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: So if three guys get hurt, I.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: Just I just like, I feel like if any one
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: of them, I feel.
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: Like I'm just vastly approaching, quickly approaching this to Mario
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: Douglas like defense team, Like, what does f him do
- 1:40:00Speaker 6: that to Mario Douglas doesn't have the versatility to do
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: I don't I don't know. He just Saidfton Chism's more
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: versatile than Tomarrio Douglas, So what is like Let's let's
- 1:40:14Speaker 6: say that the best case Scenariofton Chishm turns out to
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: be a more than serviceable NFL slot receiver. What does
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: he do that to Mario Douglas can't he's just bigger.
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: He's bigger.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: That's pretty much.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: Yeah, can aft Chisholm go down the field like Tomorrio
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: Douglas did last year? So what does he like? What
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: versatility does to Mario Douglas last I would say.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: Tomorrow Douglas is way more versatile. Chisholm is like he's
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: got one thing like Douglas.
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: He's a possession slot receiver. Yeah, and he if he
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: turns out to be like what Everanton, I mean with
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: Mike and Fred say, maybe he could be really good
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: at that. But I don't see the versatility to go
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: down the field, to make plays on different levels of
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: the field. Like he's a kind of a power.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: He's a willing blocker.
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: He is a willing bocker. He did.
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: I think he's probably a better blocker than to Mario
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: Douglas could ever pretend to be? Okay, you found one,
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: like I just the versatility thing, Like I just I
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: don't know where the Tomorrio Douglas hate came from, but
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: it's like overnight it happened.
- 1:41:19Speaker 4: I think that it stems from people perceiving a lot
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: of his errors to be mental, like he's it's I
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: remember the a VP year, them talking about like a
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: throw that Drake missed in the middle of the field
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: and they claim that he broke off a slant at
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: five steps instead.
- 1:41:36Speaker 5: Of three steps.
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: Is a route depth issue according to the coaches, or
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: you know, like he's supposed to sit but he breaks away,
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: or he's supposed to he sees inside leverage and he's
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: supposed to go out and he goes in and like that.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: People think that.
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: That kind of stuff is where his game is deficient,
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: and I maybe that's I don't see that a practice,
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: which is the weird thing. Like today on third down
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: and the two minutes, Oh he had Matt Bark.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: He looks pretty good this year.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Marcus Jones inside of him, he broke out and moved.
- 1:42:06Speaker 6: The thick he has owned might be a strong word,
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: but he has really controlled Marcus Jones in this camp.
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: He has been locked up with Marcus Jones a lot,
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: and I can't recall very many times he hasn't won.
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: It's a really tough cover. He's got a lot of speed,
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: he's got a lot of quickness.
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: Is a really tough cast and if he's in the
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: right he's got two way go inside. So he can
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: go anywhere. He can go vertical on you too, as
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: long as he knows where he's going.
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: He's a really tough guy to cover.
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: He's one of the best by the metrics, one of
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: the best separators in football.
- 1:42:36Speaker 6: I'll give you my theory, my Douglas theory. Why people
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: have given up on him. Two things. One, they all
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: miss diagnosed him. They all thought he was going to
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: be the next one hundred catch slot guy, and that's
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: not what he's going to be. And the second thing
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: is the fourth down like quick screen on the all
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: out blitz against Pittsburgh for the last play of the game.
- 1:42:58Speaker 6: He didn't handle it well. He caught it and kind
- 1:43:00Speaker 6: of cut back inside. It was fourth and really short.
- 1:43:04Speaker 6: He should have just gotten up field and gotten the
- 1:43:05Speaker 6: first down, and I think he tried to like go
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: around a guy. He ended up getting tackled no gain.
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: Game ends, and I think that was it. I think
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: everybody just said this guy stinks. He's never gonna do it.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: He's never gonna don't know if it's like that specific example,
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: but I think the overall point you're making of game
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: instincts is like where I think people have concern, For example,
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: after the catch. Sometimes he looks like a drunken sailor.
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: Well he falls down on his own sometimes.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: Like he literally looks like a drunken sailor.
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: And he's joked about it all last season and he's like,
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: I don't know what happens one of them, he remember,
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: he said he like whipped his head back to like
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: look for the ball and he gave himself whiplash.
- 1:43:42Speaker 6: I remember, liked, I remember.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: He's like stumbling around the next thing.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: Yeah, and they're just like like, mister d.
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: I think it's like instincts, like game feel like can I.
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: Add into that please? Josh McDaniels a second year the
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: same system too. I mean he had Billy Oh the
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: first year rookie trying to figure it out. Then he
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: had AVPs off. Now he's got two years with Josh.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: I think, I mean, I think he's really shown like
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: he's settled in over these last two years.
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: I've been asked him that question today about his comfort
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: level and option routes, and I think that's what you're
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: talking about mind now, is that he does look a
- 1:44:18Speaker 6: little bit more fluid and sure of.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: Him continuity with the system and him and I don't
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: I got. I have high hopes for him this year.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: I really do. I mean, especially in a contract year
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: like he's he's got a chance.
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: And I'm not saying that that one hundred catch season
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: is coming. I don't think that's the kind of player with.
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: Your guys a downfield kind of more.
- 1:44:35Speaker 6: Last year he was kind of a different version of Booty,
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: Like when they called on him, he generally made the play.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: I just think that there's so much more there if
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: he can develop some of the game feel and some
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: of the IQ playing inside because of all the you know,
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: easy money that's in there with receivers like him that
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: I feel like he could even take another step. But
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: I think that's what it is, and like that play
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: my have been a good example of it, Paul, But
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: like I think it's just overall, I don't think people
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: think that it's there between the ears for him as
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: like a football IQ guy. And I think some of
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: the guys that have really excelled in that role have
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: just been like really high football IQ players, And like
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: you don't really necessarily think of Tomario Douglas the same
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: way as Jacobi Myers or Edelman or Welker, who like
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: really were like quarterbacks, you know, like they could see
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: the field that way.
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: Mark in from Cheddar, I want to get rid of
- 1:45:32Speaker 2: the Mario Douglas. Great player, but horrible nickname pop. If
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: it was diet Pop, then I'd be all four it.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: But that is why I have to give her.
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: That's like after his like dead grand But that's why,
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: that's that's why I.
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: Have given up on him and I want to run
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: him out of town.
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: Thanks Mark, He's just trying to get out.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: And he says he still hasn't received his T shirt.
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: Well, now you don't get one.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: He says, not that I have ever earned one. Just
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: seems like the general moment not one.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: Have pup sign one for you talking about pomp now
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: As Fred would say talking.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: About pomp now Rick and Riverside, Rhode Island.
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: The Patriots need to either one commit to Booty as
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: their number two or three receiver by offering him a
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: contract extension, or two trade him to allow him to
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: get a chance for a second NFL contract. If they
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: go option two, then they shouldn't hold on to him
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: thinking they're going to get a great return, and out
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: of respect for the player who was a fifth round pick,
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: they should take what they can get at this point.
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: I actually think that the return could improve. And normally,
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: I would say first because of the fact that he's
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: in a contract year, normally that you would think it
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: goes down. But I think at the end of training
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: camp there's a window of opportunity there teams feel like
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: they're short on receivers, somebody gets hurt something like that,
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: And I also think at the trade deadline the price
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: can be really really high for those types of moves,
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: like Rashid shaded win for a third round pick last
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: year at the trade deadline. I think they're like they're different,
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: they get it done in different ways, but they're kind
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: of similar that they're both like vertical speed threat type
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: of guys. I kind of feel like that those like
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: transaction windows, the price actually could improve for the Patriots
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: if they wait, Like I think, trading him now you
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: already know that it's the offers are pretty low. I
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: would wait until somebody gets hurt or gets desperate or
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: something like that.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: Is there any chance at all that they cut them,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: like just at the end of camp and they let
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: them go because they just don't feel I mean, is
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: there any chance of that?
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: I think very small. I can't imagine they would do that,
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: But I agree with Evans's philosophy. Right now, you know
- 1:47:43Speaker 6: that you don't have a huge market, But at the
- 1:47:46Speaker 6: end of camp, everybody sees how the dust settles and
- 1:47:49Speaker 6: says we're lacking here, or someone that we were really
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: hoping was going to be one of our top three
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: receivers gets hurt and we need someone to replace them,
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: and we got to plug somebody in, and that's the
- 1:47:59Speaker 6: best case. Maybe instead of a you know, a sixth
- 1:48:01Speaker 6: or a seventh or pick swap, maybe you get a
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: fourth or something like that. Or if you wait now,
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: I do think a lot And Booty has said this,
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: and Vrabel has said this. There's been a lot of
- 1:48:14Speaker 6: communication back and forth and they've talked a lot about
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: this stuff. If he is okay sort of biding his time,
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: I would wait as long as I could because of
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: not only the potential to get more as you go,
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: but insurance for you if you lose one of your
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: guys deadline.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: Well, as Belichick always said, and I agree with him,
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: sometimes with these decisions, don't make them until you have to,
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: and time will play it out for you and make
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: the decision for you.
- 1:48:47Speaker 6: Yeah, if he was really, you know, kicking up a
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: storm behind the scenes, then I would just say, we
- 1:48:52Speaker 6: just got to get rid of him. It's not fair
- 1:48:53Speaker 6: to him. He's just he's causing disruptions.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: But he's not.
- 1:48:56Speaker 6: He's doing everything that they've asked of them.
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: I just even look at now and it's just one team.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: But like San Francisco. San Francisco lost Ricky Piersoll for
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: the year, Mike Evans has a quad injury because of
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: the power plant obviously.
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: But I had this whole thing with Will on the
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: way to work the other day.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: I'm not going to.
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: They signed Deebo Samuel back then brought him back to
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: San Francisco. Like, it's just one team, doesn't make a market,
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: But like if that happens with a couple more teams
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: and all of a sudden, there might be a market
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: for Kashan Boody.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Canadian Mike and Muggy, but not Smelly Florida. Is
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: there anything you guys can see in training camp and
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: or preseason that would change your record predictions positive or
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: negative injuries aside.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Preseason talking about preseason not for me now, No, I
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: paused in my head, no, but injuries aside, so like
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: in other words, like Josh Allen is not out for
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: the year, like those things would change my yea.
- 1:49:50Speaker 6: But if we're not talking about injuries.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: What's your I think we did this earlier, But what's
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: now your floor ceiling for the Patriots season? Nine nine?
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Flooring ten twelve thirteen?
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: Yeah, mine is nine thirteen.
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: I think I might be double digit wins. I think
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: it's a good football team.
- 1:50:14Speaker 6: I think they're good.
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: I think every day we see back and forth. I
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: think every day we see players making plays on both
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: sides of the ball that are not no longer like
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: you know, first round picks that we hope develop, but
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: are just like Christian Gonzales and guys that are really good.
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: I think that they're a ten win team. I mean
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: they have four free wins against the Jets and the Dolphins,
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: so like you're already having like you know now you
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: just need to kind of go like five hundred the
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: rest of the way to win ten games, Like it's
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: really not you know, when you look at it that way,
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: it's not as hard as you think.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: I think overall have to be a Drake regression like
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: last year, was just a total outlier for him and
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: way above what he's actually gonna be. Like that to
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: me is I think they could knock them down back
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: into like.
- 1:51:02Speaker 5: But he would have to be like a turnover machine.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Like if he's not making the throws down the
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: field that he made last year, that's one thing. But
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: like they could probably win with more conservative offense and
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: on defense, Yeah kind of, they could probably win a
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: handful of games just doing.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: That at a quarterback.
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think they have a really good team,
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: Like this is the probably the best team you know,
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: other than like eighteen nineteen that I've seen them have,
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: you know where, Like there's really star players everywhere.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: I've seen a Yeah, as it stands right now, does
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: the schedule look as daunting now as it did when
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: it you know early, you know, right after the season.
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: I think it looks harder because of the travel.
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that that's a big factor. Like the
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: days of the week that the gate some of the
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: games are. They have a Wednesday game, they have two
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: Thursday night games, they have a Monday night game. They
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: have games all over the place, and terms of travel,
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: I think that part of it is underrated compared to
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: the actual opponents that they're playing.
- 1:52:05Speaker 6: And I agree with you guys that I think they've
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: also gotten better since then. So it's probably even.
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: In a weird sort of way.
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: Does the travel and odd schedule kind of force you
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: to focus more? You can't get into like that rhythm
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: where you're kind of today's Monday today. You know, like
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: every week is kind of a little different, so you
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: have to focus.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see. I mean, you got some
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: young players on the team that you know. I mean,
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: last year they did a great job dealing with the road.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: I mean they were a record setting road team last year.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: You know, they called themselves a road the World war You've.
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: Heard I saw, but it's not a warrior sign.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: Today it's a really good it's a really good schedule.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just this is a football fan. I'm
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: excited to watch good games and good competition, and.
- 1:52:47Speaker 2: You know you.
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: Are excited about it a matter of be like who
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: we got today, Spencer Rattler, get big.
- 1:52:58Speaker 5: He just never has a bad day.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: It's unbelievable, you guys, I.
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: Don't know who thought Mike was going to be excited
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: about this season?
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: Is an intriguing. It's intriguing. Yeah, I mean, are you
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: having fun, Mike?
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: No, But you know last yeursay, I know you were
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: sick of the fourteen one season.
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: No, we're back.
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: I don't want to and furnished Mike.
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: It was twelve and four that he was, Okay, if
- 1:53:18Speaker 5: they beat the bag out of the Jets and Dolphins,
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: which they should, that's four and oh. Right, you realize
- 1:53:23Speaker 5: they only have to win six other games to win
- 1:53:25Speaker 5: ten games. Yeah, six and seven to win the other
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: to get to ten wins.
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: Yeah, if they go for and I know how that
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: math works there, I agree.
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: I mean, like when people say, oh, I think the.
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: Dolphins games or layups, I'm not.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: They're not always. I'm not sure the division games should
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: be crazy.
- 1:53:41Speaker 6: I'm not sure that both Jets games will be like
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: they should.
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: Absolutely wipe the floor with both of them.
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: Should but division games again, can be can be strange.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not saying that they can't be. I'm just
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: saying that anything.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: Other than where two of those games are in the
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: last three weeks of the season. So by that point,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: I don't know how much those teams are going to
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: have to play for too, right, Like what is what
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: are those?
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: But the Broncos one interest me, Like, what is that game?
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: Is that? Are you excited about that?
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: Not excited?
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: I'm very excited. Actually that's the one. I'm second most excited.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: He was asked which game he was most excited about
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: this morning, he said, Bill is the Bills game. I
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: was a little surprised about why what. I just thought,
- 1:54:23Speaker 4: I don't know division title, I mean, this is I know,
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: but I just you know, that's the thing the Bills fans.
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: I heard some Bills guy like talking about the easy schedule,
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: and I'm like, they should have had him in this
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: game too, Like they had a freaking huge lead on
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: him and they let him off the hook. You should
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: have beat them both times. And then Paul's things going
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: through my head. There's three games different between you're talking
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: about easy. The Patriots schedule three games.
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: But that was huge because all three of those Bills
- 1:54:45Speaker 6: games were really hard. Well this year, that's a differ
- 1:54:48Speaker 6: between an easy schedule and a regular schedule.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: This year it's not historically easy.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: Schedule three games is like, well, that's that's a receptable
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: part schedule now.
- 1:54:57Speaker 6: So I would just say, like the whole of thirteen games.
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: I think it's easy to sit there and say six
- 1:55:03Speaker 6: and seven. I think there's a lot of games that
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: I could absolutely see going either way, like Minnesota, Green Bay,
- 1:55:10Speaker 6: Chicago to be you know, like I know, but what
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: if you're not Kansas City? You think I don't know.
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: I was asked to give a floor. I gave a
- 1:55:22Speaker 6: floor of nine. He's like ten and likeriulously.
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: I realize if they win four games, they only need
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: six more to get to ten.
- 1:55:31Speaker 6: Math. Math is math?
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: I mean when you put it like that to the
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: math Parillo.
- 1:55:36Speaker 6: I mean, wake up? How come when Fred said nine,
- 1:55:40Speaker 6: he didn't get yelled at?
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: I got issue?
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: All right, Well, we got a long time before we're
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: going to see how this actually does play out, a
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: lot of practices in between. Then we got another show
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: on Thursday on the table. Next week, the Colts are
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: coming to town tomorrow.
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: Cat after the walkthrough, after the Yeah, Barth is just
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: like he's so busy, So you know you have to
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: wait for Barth to be ready. So what time will
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: you have it tomorrow?
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: Way later than.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: I wanted to be, like punter Hanktock.
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: Oh he's got to write And then he's got to
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: do his thing with zolac and like, you know, he's
- 1:56:22Speaker 4: he's well, listen, he's a busy guy.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: He's trying to make himself a career.
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: You know, you're all set, you're cushy right now, You're
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: you've got.
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: You know, he's he's making his way. He's like Chisholm.
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: Over there, Chisholm. It's got this name. Mean, I would
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: agree with that. Why you don't think he's good? All right,
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: I'm just kidding. We'll talk to you on Thursday. Hey,
