  Great to have your company. This week you and I have

  exclusive backstage passes to the Last Supper.

  That's right, we are going to go up those stairs into that room

  and hang out with Jesus and his disciples as John, as he writes
• 0:36
  this gospel really lays on the brake, slows us right down and
• 0:41
  spends a number of chapters just hearing what it is that Jesus
• 0:47
  most wanted to communicate with his disciples at this point in
• 0:52
  their journey. So this is a special sacred
• 0:55
  space where this man who knew his Saviour so well through
• 1:00
  their shared experiences and life together and subsequent
• 1:03
  decades of ministry in Jesus name, this is where God inspires
• 1:08
  him to share all of Jesus most intimate thoughts, hopes and
• 1:14
  plans for his disciples. That's you and me friends, that
• 1:17
  is us. So this is where we are going to
• 1:20
  settle and spend the rest of the week.

  So why don't you join me as we read together John chapter 14.

  Don't let your hearts be troubled.
• 1:39
  Trust in God and trust also in me.

  There is more than enough room in my father's home.

  If this were not so, would have told you that I'm going to
• 1:50
  prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will
• 1:53
  come and get you so that you will always be with me where I
• 1:58
  am and you know the way to where I'm going.

  No, no we don't Lord, Thomas said.

  We have no idea where you were going, so how can we know the
• 2:07
  way Jesus told him I am, the way, the truth and the life.

  No one can come to the Father except through me.
• 2:19
  If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is.
• 2:24
  From now on you do know him and have seen him.
• 2:29
  Philip said Lord show us the Father and we will be satisfied.

  Jesus replied, Have I been with you all this time Philip?
• 2:39
  And yet you still don't know who I am.
• 2:42
  Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father, so why are you
• 2:46
  asking me to show him to you? Don't you believe that I am in
• 2:50
  the Father and the Father is in me?
• 2:53
  The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in
• 2:57
  me, does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the
• 3:02
  Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe because of
• 3:07
  all the work you have seen me do.
• 3:10
  I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same
• 3:14
  works I have done and even greater works because I am going
• 3:19
  to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my
• 3:22
  name and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the
• 3:27
  Father. Yes, ask Me for anything in my
• 3:30
  name and I will do it. If you love me, obey My
• 3:35
  commandments and I will ask the Father and He will give you
• 3:39
  another advocate who will never leave you.
• 3:42
  He is the Holy Spirit who leads into all truth.
• 3:48
  The world cannot receive him because it isn't looking for Him
• 3:52
  and doesn't recognise Him. But you know him because He
• 3:56
  lives with you now and later will be in you.

  No, I will not abandon you as orphans.

  I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer
• 4:06
  see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will
• 4:12
  live. When I am raised to life again,

  you will know that I am in the Father and you are in me, and I
• 4:20
  am in You. Those who accept my commandments
• 4:24
  and obey them are the ones who love me, and because they love
• 4:28
  me, my Father will love them and I will love them and reveal
• 4:33
  myself to each of them. Judas, not Judas Iscariot, but
• 4:39
  the other disciple with that name said to him, Lord, why are
• 4:44
  you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world
• 4:47
  at large? Jesus replied.

  All who love me will do what I say.
• 4:53
  My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with
• 4:57
  each of them. Anyone who doesn't love me will
• 5:00
  not obey me and remember my words are not my own.

  What I'm telling you is from the Father who sent me.
• 5:08
  I am telling you these things now while I'm still with you.
• 5:12
  But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative,
• 5:16
  that is the Holy Spirit. He will teach you everything and
• 5:20
  remind you of everything I have told you.
• 5:24
  I am leaving you with a gift, Peace of Mind and heart, and the
• 5:30
  peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.
• 5:34
  So don't be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you, I'm
• 5:38
  going away, but I will come back to you again.
• 5:43
  If you really loved me, you would be happy that I'm going to
• 5:46
  the Father who is greater than I am.
• 5:50
  I've told you these things before they happen so that when
• 5:54
  they do happen, you will believe.
• 5:58
  I don't have much more time to talk to you because the ruler of
• 6:02
  this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I
• 6:06
  will do what the Father requires of me so that the world will
• 6:10
  know that I love the Father. Come, let's get going.

  Jesus, you speaks so plainly to us about where the source is of
• 6:32
  true Peace of Mind and heart. Jesus, you give us peace in our
• 6:38
  mind and peace in our heart, but don't we just look all over our
• 6:45
  lives and the world to find things that will make us feel
• 6:49
  peace? Jesus, help us always turn to
• 6:54
  You and not to look for our deep satisfaction and the fulfilment
• 6:58
  of our deepest souls needs here around us on earth.
• 7:04
  But it's in you always and only in You that our soul will find
• 7:09
  rest. So Jesus, keep on drawing us
• 7:13
  back to you, our minds and our hearts and our souls so that we
• 7:20
  can rest in you and your unending provision for us, which
• 7:27
  ultimately will fulfil every need that we have.
• 7:32
  You are a gracious, generous and kind God and we are so grateful
• 7:39
  for all that you have done for us, Jesus, and for winning us
• 7:43
  this peace and for not leaving us to fend for ourselves, but
• 7:46
  giving us your Spirit to walk day by day with us and teaching
• 7:51
  us more and more about You. So we pray all of this in your
• 7:55
  name, Jesus, Amen.
