- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, welcome to EvanTV at ML Podcast, I'm Conoror, and I've found him, there's Albuquerque in Old Latro, Pennsylvania, at what has to be, let's see how good my Marriott guessing powers are here.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit more of a modern art setting in the background, the couch,
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Albert would never stay in A-Loft, so I'm guessing.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't name loft in Green Bay, actually.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, and I stayed in A-Loft in Columbus, too, how about that?
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, I stayed in two A-Loft's.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: So, you just tried to call me out for snobbery, and I actually stayed in the branch of Marriott, but you were using as an example for this trip.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: that.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to go with just a base.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's just a base, Marriott.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just going to ring your M, right?
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: Rindle, if you've been to a trail before for camp, I've never been to a trail.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So if you've been to a trail for camp, you would know that this is a spring hellsweights.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, look at you slum in it, right?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: And so, like right across the way from the right across the way from the Spring Hill is the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: So Arnold Palmer's from here.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you look at your phone, there's been a picture texted to you of two American heroes, which is a painting that's in the lobby of the Spring Hill Suites.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it is.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: That is the, that's the painting that awaits you when you walk into the Spring Hill, sweets and which I was like an AI version of a painting.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: That is like a painting.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Is that a painting?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Or is that like a photograph of the two of them together like pasted on to the picture of a golf course?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: The two American heroes right there.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: one change the way I drank I see and one has kept me away from my family for years at a time.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I've been a guest to the guy, I've been a guest to the guy in the left for about seven years of my life.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: We're catching up with Albert ahead of his visit to Steelers Camp and ahead or behind the first weekend of preseason football.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hit time.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: on the right.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry, by the way, for anybody who's going to picture is the guy in the right.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: I was trying to do that by memory, which is a mistake.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: JW Maryette is on the right in our own poverty.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I just graph here as you say.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like, yes, we are getting farther and farther away from a generation of kids who can immediately identify our own poverty.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you think so?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm a recognizable for all of us.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: For us.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: If you're an eighth grade right now and I told you about Arnold Palmer, you would just think it's a kind of iced tea.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because I think it's like one of those, like one of the most indisputable things in sports for us of this broader generation Connor, I'm not going to throw you in my generation, but broader generation.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: Please don't.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think that's like indisputable like I think everyone agrees.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think if you're well if you're 10 years older you start talking about Ben Hogan and then everyone's like all right, you know that's black and white golf like we're not there and then I think if you're pretty much my age and younger it's your frame of references tiger woods and
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: if you're even younger than that, Phil Mikkelson is simply a financial criminal and not a golfer, which is pretty crazy.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like though, don't you feel like maybe this is just my own war perception.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just like living in my own bubble.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: But it feels me like Arnold Palmer and Jack Milkcoast were sort of the ones who made golf like a big time spectator sport and then
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so you could say it's almost like a Brady and Manning and then so, and then it's my homestead.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: That'll make 800,000 people angry.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, the preseason, I want to hit Tyson, son of Fernando Mendoza, because what a weekend for those guys, I thought that was spectacular, but we should start.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think with the most relevant news here and that is that we do have quarterback competitions going on.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: There are active quarterback competitions going on.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start in Cleveland where I feel like, you know, I mean, this is sort of a strange situation.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough one for Todd Muggin in his first year, but I don't think that there's a way that you can say that Shidorah Sanders played better than Deshaam Watts and Deshaam Watts and was clearly the better quarterback and Cleveland this weekend.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know what I like to do is in these situations is I'll talk to the team they were playing against right and ask right what it looked like on tape.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think talking to a couple of bears people, it sounded like it was pretty clear on tape, that Deshawn Watson is the Brown's best option right now.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I take it a step further in that, like there were questions about whether, and they sort of, it was interesting because they groups should do are not with Deshawn, but should do are with Dylan Gabriel.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And like, yeah, I just don't know if the other two have it.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this one, look, I think top monkey wants to make this as fair competition as he possibly can.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: And his goal was to try to see what's left with the Sean Watts, right?
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's a logical thing.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a new coach coming in, you don't have the history.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have the four years of the Sean Watts and Cleveland weighing you down, right?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: But you do know that your organization has sunk $230 million dollars and three first
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I've said this, I mean, I'd be a probably sick of me saying it to you, Connor, but what would be worse than just chalking up the Sean Watson as a son cost after all that?
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: it would be throwing a monthchaining them to the bench and then finding out next year somewhere that he can, that he still has it.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: While he's playing for another team, right?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: So you want to find out what he has.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the approach that Todd Monk and his take in coming in is if there's something still there from those unbelievable four years that he had in Houston, right?
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: If there's something still there,
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: we got a digging and find it, right?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: So like I know, you know, monkey himself feels like his offense is a little more analogous to what the Sean was doing in Houston, where Bill O'Brien put more on the quarterback and gave the quarterback more control at the line of scrimmage, more creative control, more of an ability to adjust things on the fly, and so the Sean has that now with Todd Monkking's
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: And they're starting to see like that he's starting to move like himself again.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the bigger the biggest question for them is can he do it consistently enough?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Is it just flashes of that guy we saw in Houston or can he start to do that play after play after play?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the big question.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I think all along, like the idea has been, you know, unless one of the young guys really blows us away and makes it clear, like, let's get a look at the Sean Watson.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's really no harm in doing that.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: And if he shows to his teammates that he's the best option,
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: then we should go forward with it.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because the reality is like you want to come out of this year without clear idea of what you've got.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: If we're stacking the investment that the team made in those three quarterbacks, it's not even close.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: I mean people talk about schedule like, oh well we need to find out he's a fifth round pit.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get a third round pit.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like I mean we're essentially talking about what we're talking about what should do our
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and with, um, so just so we, uh, kind of have the, the box score numbers out there.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: So Deshawn Watson, the Browns went three and out on Deshawn Watson's first drive.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but then Cleveland had a 10 play 86 yard touchdown drive.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: Casey Conception had the, uh, had a touchdown run.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: on the three and out, it was interesting.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think they really have something in him, just as in the side.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think it was smart to just kind of, I mean, you obviously had a glaring need at the wide receiver position, but to just sort of take a couple of cracks at that, at the end of the first in the beginning of the, I like that.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: I brought up that two good drafts in the room.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to argue that.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: But the 10 play 86 yard touchdown drive is kind of what everyone's basing the confidence on.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the final two drives were three announced.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then there was also like a fourth down strip sack in there for the Sean Watson as well.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: So a mix of good and bad should do our Sanders didn't come in until the third quarter.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: He had a pick a couple overthrows.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: But he will be starting the next preseason game against Buffalo.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we saw Kevin O'Connell call it.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: pretty early in the interest of giving the quarterback a little bit more time with this offense and we're doing the coaches sometime to build it for him and giving some coaches time to build it for him.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it wasn't enough for Watson for Munkin to be like, listen, I'm going to call it here.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting that we're really like, we're really letting this thing go to the wire and Cleveland.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: And again, it's another situation where it's a new offense, but we're seeing two coaches do two very different things.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: What is it about chidori, like, why is there an interest in pushing this thing another week?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think it's out of fairness for one thing.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's, you know, you want to make sure you have all the information, right?
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And like for them, the way it was explained to me was, so we have the benefit of the joint practice in between.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if Deshawn was the starting quarterback, you'd probably play him in two of the three pre-season games anyway, right, for double back in the third game and get him a few more reps with the first team.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so like you get the best apples for apples, if you let one of them start one game, the other one start the other game, you have the joint practice in
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: get them to like a nice neat, clean conclusion.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, so I think in this case, it's like, what are we talking about?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so the joint practice, they'll both get reps with the first team.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then, yeah, practice is outside of that.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then the game, right?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think it makes that big a difference.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that there is, I mean, look, I think there's this part of it too.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's the fan base.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean, that's an underrated hard place to play.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's an underrated hard place to coach.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the most intense football markets in the country.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'd say it's one of the most knowledgeable fan bases in the country.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it's one of the cities that's most way way down by its previous failure, right?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: There's just a look a lot there.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I even would say it's interesting that they started to
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the thing is if should do or somehow let it up in that first game, can you imagine being to Sean Watson coming back and playing in the second game in Cleveland?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like that.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just like, I think there's all these,
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: And you would have said the veteran quarterback's probably a little bit more comfortable playing away from home.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's, I think all of it is like, I think all of it kind of sets up in a way where they can come to a conclusion.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And like the coaches can talk amongst themselves now too about like, okay, like, here's what it's going to look like if this thing goes the way that we think it's going to go, which would be, I think with the Sean Watson is the starting quarterback.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, ultimately, um, I'm, I'm, like, I'm maybe I'm raising my hand, I'm the only one.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see what it looks like, you know, whether or not they can get anything out of this.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, because I mean, Watson was, it points like I'd say right on the Cusp of top five in the league.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, at the end of his third year, they were up 24 to nothing on the chiefs and the homes in Arrowhead.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, no, no, no round.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think at that point, like, there was a real argument who would you take to Sean or Mahomes?
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we all know the way that went, right?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, you know, I'm just, I would like to see what it looks like over four or six or eight games of the regular season, like just because I do remember what it looked like, whatever, it's got six years ago.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's hard to believe.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this though, right?
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like there is no, you know, there were a couple plays where, like to show them lots and had some guys wide open.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, Shader Sanders, you know, fumbling snaps, like, we can talk about this.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good in general.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: All right, right, right.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I think,
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wanted that to be not telling you it's good, because I think like competition, you know, I mean, it's probably not a great sign, no matter what, this deep into the preseason for you to have any sort of a quote, for you to not be sure.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it's even worse, I think, you know, what it's
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Deshawn, like, you know, I think scientists will go back and try to study what happened because, you know, even in that bear's game, there's a couple instances where, you know, you got receivers down the field just being like, yo, like throw me the ball and again, it's after a couple weeks of practice and you have to give everybody that benefit of the doubt because certainly,
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I gave Fernando Mendoza the benefit of the doubt when I did a write up on him on Friday and we can talk about that or Thursday.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: But it doesn't, like neither of them look good.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like I don't think like, I think that's an important thing to mention.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're not like anyone's gonna be like, yes, the quarterback Cleveland is going to soar on the wings of a quarterback this year.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: No, but I think like the cool thing about where Cleveland is to me,
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: is I think you have the makings of a team that's gonna be set up pretty well for you on quarterback in 2027.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, you know, I mean, Spencer Fano at Left Tackle, conception and Boston and Judy at receiver.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: Judd Kinsen Samson at running back fan in it tight end.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, then the defense has a nice coral with Mason Graham, Jared Vers and Carson, Swesinger in the front seven.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, some older guys obviously in the second area, you know, delpe, it's a really good player.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Ward, we know what he is.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: the makings of a really good young roster.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, they've got two first round picks next year, right?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then two second round picks year after that.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: And two third round picks year after that.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: So they're actually set up, if this class hits the way that last year's class hit, and they're set up nicely.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, really nicely, specifically for a
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I mean, I think that's the, the, the, the, the strangeness of it, right, it's like ultimately does it end up mattering in any way, shape or form who the quarterback is as long as they're bad enough for Cleveland to get one next year.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: I guess it would be an abject disaster as if they get like slightly above quarter average quarterback play, you know, well, because they have, they have how many let's see here hold on.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: The browns have the two first round picks with the rams, and we're assuming the rams is going to be in the in the thirties, but the jets would be the best suited to survive a strangely good season, right, because the jets have three first round picks, and I think three higher first round draft picks.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that is a calculus and will obviously kind of monitor that throughout the season because a lot of teams are going to have to decide whether it's, you know, worth it to keep grind in here, pull the rip cord and tanking is hard and, you know, we can get into that later on, but I want to pivot to Michael Panics and and to a.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: Strange meme, which I always love where, and I'd love to get to the bottom of, you know, why panics just like pointed to him and been like this guy on the sidelines.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think that was kind of the most memorable moment of this offseason, but what were your takeaways from the panics into a quarterback competition?
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, I guess the first thing is that it hasn't really been the competition at all.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: Because Panics hasn't been clear for 11 on 11 yet, which is understandable.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: He tours ACL and was at December, I think, right?
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: I should have had that bread do you go for the podcast, but I think it was December.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: it was late in the year that he tore his ACL.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not crazy that he hasn't been cleared for 11 on 11 yet.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he has looked good throwing it in 7 on 7.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: I would say two or did not look good.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, honkos.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean to be fair, you know, again, this is another one where I talked to some people on the other side, talked to some Broncos people, but
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: What I heard was the entire team really didn't look comfortable out there.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_00]: The Falcons entire team didn't look comfortable out there and just checking what Falcons people they said well it's not how to a play wasn't really indicative of the camp that he's had.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: And he has shown the instincts and the accuracy and all the stuff you'd expect from to a the stuff that was strengths in Miami when he was playing his best.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I just think like this is another one where you've got a first year head coach getting you have a first year GM there.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_00]: You have a first year executive in Matt Ryan and I kind of think like you know what to it is.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: And you don't know what Michael Panac says.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: And just talking to the people that coached him his first two years in the league, they'll all say there's something there.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: He sees it really fast.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a cannon for an arm.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the old staff, like the comp for the old staff, which just sounds wild considering the first two years he's had was staffed.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: which I mean like because just based on the way the ball comes out of his hands the way he sees it the way he feels the game.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot of like good there, but there's also this, which is like this is not a nice-related problem, him tearing ACL.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: It goes back to college, you can't stay on the field.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I just think they have to find out on Michael Pennex by the end of the year.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: And it sucks talking about teens before we've even started this season in that way.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: Where it's like we're already looking at 2027, but it is the reality for some of them.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if we are looking at a draft class that's got call it four or five high first round quarterbacks, right?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: And you also have, look at that class.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Jeremiah Smith and Colin Simmons and Leonard Myers and like all of these like high-end prospects at other positions.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I'd say you have to get a read on who Panics is, you know?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: And like so if it's close, now you can't lie to your team.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you're Kevin's defense, you can't lie to your team and throw the worst player out there.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think you have to go with PENIX.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: The problem is now we're getting to the point where it's almost, if PENIX can't get back on the field soon, you have to start the season with Tua, and that's not in the balance.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: This was a big weekend for the Tungle by Loa Family's Aber.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Did you know this?
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: What happened?
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: to his brother, Talia, played quarterback at Maryland.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, quarterback to American Samoa in a flag football victory over the United States.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the first time the US team has lost in five years.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: This was like a U.S. S.R.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: U.S.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: Lake Placid style upset so maybe he's not from a world tell you can play for his American Small because of his descent then because he's Hawaii But he's chosen to play okay Yeah, I don't know what the rules are on that because I've seen those rules are flexible and soccer I was gonna say yeah, it's pretty much the world cup
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is like one of my son's favorite players.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Lisa, I think is his name, Michael O'Leece, right?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: Who is like one of the best players in the world?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: And my 10-year-old, now he just turned 10, happy birthday, Drew, is he was explaining to me how O'Leece is actually British, but plays for the French team.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: and also place for PSG and it's like he's got like an uncle who lives in Paris or something like that.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what the exact I'm probably messing that up, but I guess they've got similar rules here then.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still grasping the NFL preseason.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: So digging it on the legalities of NFL flag, football, heritage, and decency is probably not on my finger card tonight, but we're going to have guys like cause Talia was a pretty good college player.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like he would think maybe he'd be trying to, I want to figure out if he have opportunities to go to training camp and now he's just pivoted to flag.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I would.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean honestly, this is a question though, right?
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we got to check out, like, what are Diego Pavia's potential here?
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: Right, like, you got two years silly, I went big.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, Diego, because I bet you all, please.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_00]: You'd actually, he would be like, like, player, right?
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: That bet you, Diego, Pavia would be a really good blind player.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Based on his play style.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, maybe he's creative.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: He can move.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to be stunningly accurate and I will say as I get this conversation back on the rails that like you almost certainly have to play two positions.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the US is so good.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like our quarterback can do five other things and I think this was probably just a very stunning
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: Upset where I mean American swallowing that course like a 165 pounds right like but he can He's so slithering kind of slide between bodies and all that there's that there's the ability to you know flag avoidance all
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: all that kind of stuff.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like can you secretly guard your flag from getting taken all that kind of stuff?
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, yes, I mean, I think that there's layers to it, but just say that it wasn't all bad for the two of them.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Two of them was very hard on themselves after this, by the way.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_00]: And after the year that you had when it comes to predicting things happening and flag football, I'm listening to you on this subject and you alone.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_00]: You're my authority.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: It would be, it would surprise you to know that the Internet Mafia was not correct in this particular case that you can't just walk off an NFL football field and be good at flag football.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you though.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: I have a feeling that Michael Penix comes out.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: and just takes this thing when he's able to.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Again, it's seven on seven reps versus eleven on eleven reps, but all indications are that he's really taken to the under center suite of plays that have been rolled out by Tommy Reese in this offense.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Tommy Reese is a good offensive coordinator.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy Reese is going to be a head coach in the NFL.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good enough.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin Stefanski has there too.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, having all the work on the defensive side and having Jeff O'Brick back.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: But one of the things that I think I don't want people to overlook when it comes to Reese being in the mix on this is, and this is from a Notre Dame fan, right?
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: When Reese was the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame, there were a series of very underwhelming options at the court of acquisition and these players were coached out of their minds.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: Ian Book wound up.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think the most prolific quarterback in Notre Dame history.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, if you look at it from a skills perspective, pretty limited guy, but Tommy was like that too as a quarterback.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that he understands that.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think he comes at it from that perspective.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: And for that, because he like has like a real feel for what he can get out of the whoever's playing quarterback at a given time.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I think, I mean, just watching him and Panics together in the clips that I've seen from camp talking to some people, I think that that's going to be a pair that works.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's about health.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Panics is a really smart guy.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: He can download any offense.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's gotten really good at watching and dissecting film on his own.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think that once he gets in there, I think we're going to start to see some separators.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the thing is, I just think that organization this year, and again, I don't want to make their whole season about this, but they have to gather information on panics and they have to have a good idea of what they have.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, yeah, just think it's kind of a non-negotiable.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: I've definitely had a different relationship with money, at different points in my life.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: When I was younger, I really didn't think too much about where every dollar was going.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: As I got older though, I realized being more intentional with your money gives you a lot more freedom and it takes stress off of your plate.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the reasons I like Monarch.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: It gives me a really clear picture of my finances all in one place.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: What I'm spending, what I'm saving, what I'm investing, and what my goals are.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't have to piece everything together across a bunch of different apps.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: One thing I really like is being able to actually set goals and see whether I'm tracking to hit them.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of just looking backwards at what I spent, Monarch helps me look ahead, figure out where my money needs to go.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the AI assistant is another feature that's really useful.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: You can literally ask it questions about your finances.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like how much you spent on something last year, whether you can afford a big purchase without dipping into your savings, all sorts of stuff.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Write your own money story with Monarch using code mmqb at monarch.com to get your first year of Monarch Core.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Half off, it's just 50 bucks.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's 50% off your first year at monarch.com code mmqb.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move on to Fernando Mania.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I chronicled this for Si.com.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can read my breakdown of it.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting stat here.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: Fernando Mando is a play 10 snaps under center in the first half.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: How many did he play under center at Indiana?
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: 12, 5.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: Play double.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm including penalties in this time when I so 97% of his snaps it in the air.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're from Jacques God.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: And it's an interesting.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: You can go back and listen to our pod with Scott Turner, the former offensive coordinator.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: of the Raiders son of Norv, and he was talking a lot about the under center transition, which he said, I could teach a good quarterback to do in 25 minutes.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Clearly, Fernando Mendoza is a good quarterback because to me, there's the overarching stuff like, oh, he threw, you know, they're touched down, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: The overarching takeaway for me is that, well, two things.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: One, the Raiders were running some real place.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: This was not your vanilla Gabby Stahlhouse version of the offense, right?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: They, they were doing some actual stuff.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason I know that is because I was texting with someone who has helped and stole this offense before during the game.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I'm like, hey, is this, you know, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this, is this,
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the quote I got back on text was, yeah, this stuff ain't day one in stock.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so they were running some real plays.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of two back, which is exciting.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Another prediction of mine that has come true.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: But Fernando Mendoza looks like a great fit.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: in a kubi action in offense like it just it looks like it suits him and I think that that's the big take away from this weekend It's like we're wondering how he was gonna fit into an offense that looks like this.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: How does that let us Is him a lot of play action a lot of asking you to throw to the middle of the field, which he did really well.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I think if you're the Raiders
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: You leave this weekend thinking like Mendoza is still very much pushing to start opening day and you know I know we've heard everything about cousins gonna play most of your most of your I don't know man and he's got to do it again Someone else today's in the cardinals, but you know
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: Here's why I think he's a good fit.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's a, as you know, Connor, such a detailed or an offense, and he is a deep-filled or an a kid.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that offense, it isn't about throwing a zillion things at you scheme wise.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: it's being, it's about being very precise in every single way, right, to make every single thing look like something else, which allows everybody who's playing within that offense to play a little faster.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a hyper-detail-oriented kid, right?
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got, I've got one story that'll blow your mind that I can't share yet.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope I'm gonna be able to share what he did in the pre-draft process.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he is such a conscientious kid.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I think what they're focused on now, you know, and what Clant, Andrew, and Elk Junoco, and Mike McCoy, and all the guys who are working with them out there, are really focused on is like, let's make sure we have all the detail nailed down with him.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: So what is that means learning to play under center, which obviously is an ongoing process right now, it means the footwork and the footwork is the most important thing for them.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like they are and you know this, Connor, they are militant about that part with the quarterback, right?
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: And the timing, timing up your eyes with your feet and like the ball comes out is certain and the receivers are certain depth and so like when my foot hits the ground here, this receiver is there
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: When I, when I, when I look, when I go to my second or even my feet are here, you know, with everything's based on hitch and like the hitch timing and all of that, like it's just, and this kid, like he is so dialed in on details, and so like I think this is a really good marriage of coaching quarterback of system and quarterback, so I don't doubt what you're saying.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing I was told emphatically when I was there and I do think they're gonna be disappointed about this is it's not just when he's ready to run the offense.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's when the team is ready to support him, right?
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: And is the team in a position to not get him killed?
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: And not undo some of the teaching.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all of a sudden he's getting hit more than he should be getting hit and now it's timing is off and now it's throwing off his full work and now the detail that we worked on we've got to retitch it because you know like the and that's and that's something I think like Client goobiac and Andrew again all those guys are going to be very very conscientious of so what does that mean well that means
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: What is, so you have Colton Miller and Tyrell Inderbomb, right?
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: What is like Jackson Powers Johnson look like?
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: What does DJ Glaze look like?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like those are important pieces there, right?
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: Is it either a group look like?
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: Have you been able to develop somebody, you know, and I think one name that everyone needs to pay attention to, and it's a name I brought up in my column a couple of weeks.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I was Malik Benson, the rookie out of Oregon, who they think they've got one there, right?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: But they have to have, they have to have things like that happen.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so to me, this is not so much about Fernando Mendoza being ready because I think he's going to get there and this is a guy who did play a lot in college, right?
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like he has a lot of reps under his belt.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think more than just that, this is, do we have the team around him that's going to allow for him to have some success early on, gain some confidence, which in turn will reinforce what we're teaching him.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: And again, like,
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: I've put that chart out every year, Connor, like that shows that teams don't wait.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like you drive the quarterback high in the first round.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: You don't wind up throwing them out there at some point.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think the Raiders are gonna be disciplined about we need to be careful about when we put them out there and the team needs to be ready to support him the same way he needs to be ready to lead the team.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: And let's be fair to Kirk Cousins, who looked good and let it touch down drive on his only action.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: of the night.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to, I think we should throw that in there.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: He looked so much more comfortable from a movement perspective than he did in Atlanta.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: And we could see that throughout training camp, but I think seeing it in game and within the harmony of a play.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, this is why I thought the Raiders were actually kind of coming out guns blazing here because
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: lot of motion on that drive, you know, a lot of movement on cousins as part two, you know, wasn't just necessarily, you know, all the jet motion and and motioning to run out of the two back stuff that was let's see Kirk cousins on the move a little bit too.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: And he looked healthy, like really healthy for the first time in like two years.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I was kind of banging the drum on this all preseason like if you're the Steelers like why why not do that if you're the dolphins, but maybe the dolphins aren't necessarily super interested in that after the cardinals why wouldn't you do that, but I thought he looked really, really good and I think good enough that.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: If Mendoza plays well next week, it's not like fans are beating down the door of your stadium.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that they understand it.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: But, well, that's a huge key.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if that's a huge key is like, you know, like the players know, it's the same thing I said, you know, with the Falcon situation, like the players know what the best option is.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they don't care about your three-year plan.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the other thing you're sort of battling.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: Is if the veteran's orderback came out and looked like the wheels were coming off.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: And that doesn't seem like it's the case with Kirk.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: I, I thought he, you know, so there's the good, his ball placement is unbelievable.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: Fernando Mendoza, there was the touchdown throw to Bash where really it's the only place that you can throw it.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that low and away throw.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a heavy play because you don't want anything up
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: down at the red zone.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so I thought that was a great throw.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: There were a couple more like a back shoulder ball that ended up getting dropped or broken up or whatever it was, but it's right on the money.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: There was only one throw maybe two if I can if I'm looking back in my notes here that he kind of led a receiver into
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: getting hit by another defender, which is something that guys don't necessarily appreciate.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think the one he just did, you know, a little hospital ball situation, the one I think you literally just didn't see the guy on the first drive.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other one, by then it was the third quarter you're playing with backups and you can't really properly evaluate that.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought he threw the middle of the field really well, looked off defenders, you know,
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: the one thing that had me like pounding the table and screaming like no stop was just, you know, he broke the pocket and, like, bore his full chest to a defender and got whacked, you know, and you're just like, stop to be, you know, this is, this is the preseason.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need brave heart here necessarily.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: So there was that, but overall, I thought he lived up to the height.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: especially with that grouping.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: One other thing I wanted to note, and then I do want to talk about Jeremiah my love for a second before we get to Ty Simpson, but I thought it was really, really interesting how Kubiak was using Mike McCoy.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: And there were a couple of such instances.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what's that.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I had caught this.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: So so this was later in the game.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: And it was coming out of the half.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: And there were different kind of procedural things going on.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: And Kubiak and Mike McCoy for you guys.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know former NFL head coach.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: a long time very respected offensive mind, but he's a veteran member of this Raiders staff now.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: And you basically saw Kubiak be like, you get over there and you get the procedural stuff done.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, talk to the referees out of the half, figure out what's going on with the ball.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm scripting place here.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, I'm doing my thing here.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting the stuff ready for Mendoza.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: And whether or not it's going to,
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: you know, whether or not you want to be the alpha on game day or not, practicing this stuff and at least working through it in your head, I think is so valuable because if you could take some of the game management stuff, more of the game management stuff off your plate, if you're Kubiak, and allow yourself to just do what you do really well, I mean, I think this team can take extra steps a little bit sooner than schedule.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually interesting to say that because I dug up.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: This was something I did nine years ago.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_00]: And you remember Conner, I do that thing where I went with North Turner from Camp to Camp.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: And it was like, North thought he was down.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't quite down yet.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: He would wind up going back and coach in the panther's after this.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: But he had been fired by the Vikings after the 16th season.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: And he and I have known each other a long time.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, hey, it'd be cool if I had come in your camp trip.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because yeah, that'd be cool.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so he came with me and we went to Canton to see Jerry and and L.T.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_00]: get in with any Thomas and I'm getting to the Hall fame.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we went to Michigan where his son was coaching under Jim Harbaugh.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then we went out west and we went to Cowboys camp.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he could see Jerry and Jason Garrett, you know, who he coached, who was the head coach of the time and we went to a Chargers Vikings, uh, our Chargers Saints joined practice to see Phil
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then we went to the Rams and he didn't have like a natural connection to the Rams.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I had said to McVay before that, I just want to put you in a room with with North.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you can do whatever you want with the hour, right?
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: And like you can do whatever you want to do with it, like I just want to be a fine the wall.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully you put some restrictions on that, because you guys, yeah, you guys talk and love.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_00]: We had a camera in there, we had a camera in there, and Sean spent the entire hour talking to North about juggling being a head coach in a play collar because he had not used a game.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: He had not, he had not been a head coach for a single game yet, and it was fascinating to see that was how he chose to use that hour.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 41:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it's something that's very real that we don't think about.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, yeah, of course, Clint Kubey has going to call the plays.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he's really good at.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not that simple.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, something like what you just said shows a self-awareness about it, which is what I saw that day in that room with McBad.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: the because I think once you ascend to that chair it's like oh well I can do everything and there's I've talked to coaches about this the desire to want to do everything and the moment that you become a head coach nobody comes to you and says hey would you think about just letting somebody else do the game management stuff because they're afraid of you because you're in
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: peeling that off and delegating that, which again, I'm not saying he is.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think there was just a couple of moments early in that second half, where you saw Kubiak being like, hey, you go over there and have that conversation with that ref, because I got to go do this stuff over here.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought that was smart because you're not just allowing your head to spin and you're not just standing there, you know, in your own tornado.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, I thought he did a really good job in particular.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: football is finally back and you know what that means.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to start putting some action on these games.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: I've been checking out my bookie and what I like is how easy it is to find something you want to bet on and get your picks in whether you're watching from home, out with friends, or you just have a little bit of downtime just before kick off.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't have to be some kind of betting expert either.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: Find a game you like, find a play that you feel good about
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're new to my bookie, there's a pretty good reason to give it a shot right now.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: Their betback bonus gives you protection on your first wager.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sign up with my promo code, mmqb opt in to the betback bonus.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: And if that first wager loses, you get your money right back.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: Football is back.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: So now's the time to get in on the action head over to my bookie, use promo code mmqb.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: that on anything, anytime, anywhere.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: Before we pivot over to Ty Simpson and hit the last of the big quarter-back news of the weekend.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: My boy Jeremiah love was smoking in this game 11 carries I think for 58 yards, but there was a couple of them and you get to do the Everybody said like that looks like Adrian Peter said yes, okay, because you you get to do this all the time with Ohio state guys So I go sunny styles looks like Ray Lewis and Marvin Harris Jr. looks like Marvin Harrison senior and all that stuff Jeremiah love had several Adrian Peterson like
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy, the body movement, like, and if you search Adrian Peterson on Twitter, it's all Jeremiah love highlights from the weekend.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I, I, this guy's.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: I got to be honest, I mean, I did that story in the draft preview issue.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: I watched a ton of his tape.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: All of his coaches, I talked to it no today, are telling me that he's going to be elite even this year, no matter where he gets drafted.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, I'm a victim of preseason hype.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is against the Raiders defense.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: It might be one of the worst defenses in the NFL this year.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: But all that said, woo!
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremiah Lovewood, Nasty.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna get hurt.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: What's that?
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: Many got hurt.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, I wish you suck.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: Right, I think like that also showed you why.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I actually think Michael Flore and the coaches there have a really good plan for him for this year too, which is,
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: You can't, if you're them, you cannot say, Hi, Uncle Sprayn by for Jeremiah Love, by the way.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Uncle Sprayn for Jeremiah Love, by the way.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: Still, still trending week one, but might be close.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: Might be close.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: They sound like, well, the juncture we're at, like, Hi, Uncle Sprayn's generally at least three weeks, right?
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: So you're probably like pushing it there, we'll see.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: I, here's the thing I would say about,
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: We have that I, Michael Flore and his staff have taken a beating for giving him the ball as much as they did in that game, right?
- 45:35[SPEAKER_00]: What I would tell you is something like that can happen, can happen in practice.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm 38, it can happen on your way to the car.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the overall plan, I think for Jeremiah love for year one, the Michael Four and that staff have laid out is really, really sound.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: They have Tyler else, you're there.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_00]: They have James Connor there.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: They are not going to run him into the ground.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: And the plan is like, we're not going to put too much on him in year one.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have miss part of a rotation.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: And again, they can't say this, but it's like, it's not like they're winning the Super Bowl this year anyway.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: And one Jeremiah's gloves greatest values to them.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: could be supporting a young quarterback in 2027 and 2028.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: The same way Todd Gurley was huge for Jared Goff's development.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Z Kelly it was huge for Dak Prescott's development, right?
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like having that next to a quarterback can be a young quarterback can be a really powerful thing, right?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think ideally you're using Jeremiah Love and a rotation and you're ignoring everybody's screaming at you for not giving them the ball more all year.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: And this is probably a good example of why the high angle, high angle, it's a good example of why.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you keep it so dominant or relatively low, you know, without just not using him.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, and then you have a guy who is really having full steam ahead into 2027, you hope you add your quarterback of the future then and away we go.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I, I, I, I, I mean, I, I, I think it's a good plan.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't think that
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: He needed preseason reps, right?
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: And Jeremiah loves really smart.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: I remember when we were talking, he was kind of walking me through outside zone and why it's his favorite play, but they didn't even run a ton of outside zone at Notre Dame, right?
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: He had studied that kind of independently and picked up on some of the intricacies of that and he's prepared mentally, obviously.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: But you need to let him get his wax and get his lumps in.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: this works.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that if we were to just trot him out there week one, I don't think that that's necessarily fair to him.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: I thought this was a perfect opportunity to get him some carries.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was, he was scrapping after contact on every single one of them.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you saw what you wanted to see.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: I could just double I sort about like, I like him though, isn't it?
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: If you put him in, like, he's gonna play.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: He put him in knowing that full well that he's going 110%.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see anything wrong with that.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like you said, I think I used to be in that mindset.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: but where we can't do this because there's a 10% chance he's gonna get hurt blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: But the more time that I spend around humans.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: If this was year four, don't play him.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_00]: But you feel like a premiere running back in year three or four, that's what it's like.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: All right, like we don't need to put any miles on his body in the preseason.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_00]: But in year one, they really have to have an idea of the overall operation.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I know I'm not like, this isn't a big revelation to most people who follow it.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, a huge piece of this for those guys, if you want to put them in the game is pastro.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's getting them used to like adjusting in the passing game.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that's sort of thing.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're going to feel comfortable putting a rookie out there at that position,
- 49:18[SPEAKER_00]: you have to get them some live reps doing that, too.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you have to have them ready to do that, because you don't want to find out that it doesn't look quite right when your quarterbacks, you know, heading into the medical tent week one.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: And that's something that, like, again,
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: I give think of a lot of running backs that had reputations for being great and past pro in college.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then they get to the pros and it's like, it doesn't look right at first.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know?
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to find some of that stuff out too.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: Ty Simpson, which led to honestly one of the dumbest
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: sets of online discourse that I saw this weekend.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was 21 to 25 in his debut with the Rams.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: He looked good.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's embedded.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think didn't take nearly as many snaps.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was three or six.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: Tyson's in the Tyson's in situation.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to try not to time myself and not to here to make it look like I'm
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Trying to cover up for something or to say that I didn't say this guy was going to be good blah blah blah.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the Rams asked tie to do a little bit less than the Raiders asked Fernando Mendoza to do schematically.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think tie it was a lot of like throw the flat throw the slant.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to just kind of boot you out a little bit.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't look analogous to what Sean's offense is going to look like that said.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: given the situation, given what we thought of him coming out of Alabama, the lot of us, and what we saw.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was a great debut.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: He looked awesome.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that I'm less willing to say that he can go out there tomorrow and start, but he looked good.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: Preseason is a liar had to cut that off because I was sneezing by the way.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is live podcast, you know If you have it now, we have a cough button there now that I have a 4K camera to you could just probably see my I have a bus You know, I'm fine.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I have a cough button, right, but I don't have a cough button You guys are well, yeah, I think it's just a mute button I don't have a mute button on my way.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: We just hit the microphone button you turn it off.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, then yeah, there you go
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: Shelby's an alpha dog producer.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: He likes to take out the sneezes.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: Free seasons a liar.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I will say this.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to talk out of both sides of my mouth because this is definitely in play with Mendoza, too.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: But they aren't seeing the defense as they're going to see.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_00]: When the regular season starts, and we've seen a lot of quarterbacks.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: When I found out we were going to talk about Ty Simpson, like the one thing I sort of thought about was, like, I could remember, like, boardals in the third preseason game in 2013, and the just screaming at the top of their lungs of everyone on boardals needs to start.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then the Jaguar's wound up throwing them in there in like week three or week four.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like so,
- 52:22[SPEAKER_00]: uh... we've crowned a lot of mr. august i i but but i'm with you on like this piece of it ties and what what i think you are looking for with workies is
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: All the stuff you heard about that what their strengths are, right?
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: Are those starting to show up?
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: Can you actually like see those in preseason games?
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: And Ty Simpson's strength was he sees it fast, he plays fast, he gets rid of the ball fast, like there's just like there's a smoothness to the way he plays when everything is right.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think this was the difference between him and Mendoza among other things.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_00]: But one of the biggest differences was when things went wrong at Alabama for him said they went really, really wrong.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that wasn't his fault, but like, I don't know if he really showed he could be a fixer, whereas Mendoza, he had like three interceptions in that Penn State game and still made that ridiculous throughout the win at the end.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, what you can say for Ty Simpson is when it's on time, he plays fast, he's accurate, he can operate the offense, and that's a really good first step.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to minimize that, but did we find out that the Rams really got one?
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, not yet, and I would just just be careful with that to this point, but every sign that we saw in that game was encouraging,
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: The, to be clear, like Mendoza, some throws that regardless of what the scheme is dictating.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: And again, like, I think if you go and you watch, especially if the first couple drives of the Raiders, you're like, okay, that's.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: Probably the kind of offense that it looks like the offense that they're going to run a version is your place that they're going to run on game day when you saw what Ty Simpson was running or Yeah, yeah, it was a lot of that right that said you give me those a credit for some incredible ball placement on some throws
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: same for for Ty Simpson where there was one in particular where I think like a receiver was kind of doing like a deep drag or a post across the field and just right in front of him right ahead of the defender.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I would urge you to go back and look at some of the supercuts that they made up of that.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was great.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think that
- 54:53[SPEAKER_01]: outing, does it make the rams have any sort of interesting maneuver here with Stets and Bennett all the roster?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, is I think Stets and Bennett is the back up.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_00]: You think Stets and the back?
- 55:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think Stets and that's the back up.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_00]: So he's not going anywhere.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I think.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_01]: So you think McVay would would prefer that Ty Simpson is kind of
- 55:23[SPEAKER_00]: then it's been there for a couple of years now and like they I think all they're asking them they're back up to do it now if he's out for the year we're talking about something if he were to God forbid something we're to happen like that to staffer but like let's say he has to miss a couple of weeks.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: you're looking for somebody you can hold the rope.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that it's more capable of holding the rope right now than Simson is.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_00]: Just by virtue of the level of experience both guys have.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that it'll probably be the back of last but not last.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_01]: So this is uh, I was at a wedding on Saturday.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: Congratulations so much.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_00]: We want to like talk about there and download all or I mean I guess we could kind of throw in there
- 56:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thrown in and don't don't real quick and then I just think he's like I just think right now It's the Rams are giving him a space and I think My sense is that he's just looking to come to clarity in the decision, but I think this does come down to what we've talked about the whole time, which is
- 56:25[SPEAKER_00]: he has to feel comfortable that he can feel like himself out there and I think he's getting there but can he actually get there because the bar is really, really high for her and tone of the feel like himself.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's where it is right now.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny because this will be one of those things that drives coaches not where it just feels like he's coming yet.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Is he coming yet?
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big decision by Donald, and I think again, like I thought you made a great point a couple of weeks ago where it's like, isn't this the best if he comes back week eight?
- 56:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: And out of my head, and like what are people there have told me is like, we don't think he'd want to do that.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like we think he'd want to actually play the whole year.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's great, but I mean, is that what's best for... Is that what's best to have him playing at his best?
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: what it matters most, what you're not bringing them into a week or a week for a game.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're bringing them into win the Super Bowl.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, like so, I think there is a, there is a way you can get creative with this too, where you know, you bring them in and mid-season and like maybe you have them around the team before that, but you bring them in and you bring them into play and mid-season, and that maybe facilitates it, you getting the most out of them in January.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: The giants just, I want to touch on very quickly before we get out of here in Jackson, Thart, and in particular, I was at a wedding full of giants fans on Saturday, but before after do I move time?
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: So, congratulations, cousin Sean, way to go.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I saw one of my uncles, and I'm walking around and he goes, do you see what happened to,
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: And he said the Giants quarterback or I think he said one of the Giants quarterbacks.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so in my mind, I'm thinking, okay, you know, it's like one of the backups gets relaxed or whatever.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: And he goes, oh, like, you've got to see this.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I run over to my own, I'm like, holy shit, it was Jackson's party.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: He just got absolutely demolished.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_00]: For once, it wasn't on him.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's taking a lot of these like clock cleaning hits.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's been really his fault, you know what I mean?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like this one was awful.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_01]: And you could tell it was a clear miscommunication because the back is looks like he's going out for a flare kind of pass.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then he's like oh shit, and then comes back inside.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: I thought someone made a good point, and I'm gonna steal it.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: It might have been Daniel Jeremiah, right?
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Most of this doesn't matter, but what you really don't want to do is when you're ones or against your ones, or if your ones are against someone else's twos, to look so out of place that they're some issues.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: Brian Flores' defense is really tough to play against the period.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: But to have had that,
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: defense have that effect on the Giants offense.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: There were a couple of places where, you know, darts just kind of spinning around and kind of hold the ball and like just kind of flinging it, you know, that didn't concern me quite as much as like camward not being able to drive against the 49ers, too.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_01]: But it was up there, right?
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: Where I think that was kind of, if you had to signal like some alarm bells from the weekend, that was one where I was like, okay, I don't love any of that, you know.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I uh, I think like there's just I know, um, I know Matt and Aggie and Greg Roman and Brian Callahan and all those guys are doing what they need to do as far as trying to teach him to keep himself out of harm.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_00]: So I am part of that too is you're going to do that with your body, but you're going to do that with your mind too.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and this wasn't up one of his like brave arc on wrong moments, you know, I mean like there.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, but, you know, like, there is a, there is an element there where, like, he'd keep taking hits like that, you know, we're going to be seeing somebody else in the position before too long.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: I, um,
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, I mean, I don't know was there anything that's screamed out at you.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's for when else, that's when else would be a famous one, in which we'll be entertaining too.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: I keep forgetting.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's still on the roster.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to lie.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just go go there.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so go, he's still there.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: We got him.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's still there.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's not our tale.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_00]: But then I remembered that he's in green bay now.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: I always know in March, neighbor where all the backup quarterbacks went, then I have to relearn it again.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like when I show up, these camps are like, oh yeah, he's here, you know.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: A true tape dog, a true NFL roster dog, would know.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder, we should do this one day.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_01]: We should get an NFL director of personnel, and then do it like whatever that puzzle, the puzzle app is, uh, sporkle, and we should, all right, you got 32 slots named every team's
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder how far it could get in three minutes.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: I could probably, I don't know, that'd be tough.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, anything else, scream out at you as, if not, vital, crazy from week one of the NFL preseason Albert.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: Not really, not really.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_01]: Nice job by Drew Aller, I thought.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, through Aller, I've got my skies, but you know what?
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested, so I'm in Pittsburgh today.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested to talk to people about him.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_00]: Here's why.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I remember when he first started playing at Penn State, right, like when he's a red shirt freshman there, so this one's been 20, 23, and his first start, I can't remember who was against, and I was like, holy crap, they've got one.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, as like, in Penn State, stupid, big, tense scheduling, Penn State and Ohio State don't play this year.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's the dumbest shit ever.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get me started.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me started on them, not like, Ohio State.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_00]: Penn State's our second biggest rival.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we're not playing them this year's BS.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, hum.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_00]: I, like, I was, I remember thinking like holy crap they got on it.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's this moose of a quarter back who can really move and like every throw looks easy to him.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he just regressed.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I just wonder how much of that was coaching, how much of that was the fit of like the offensive coordinator.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_00]: They brought in who Andy Codel Mickey came from Kansas and was kind of running one of
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: is built for a jitterbug quarterback.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the kind of quarterback who's smaller and moves around, that's not what Aller is, you know?
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I just wonder, and he got hurt last year, I just wonder if there's something there.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_00]: If there's something there and that like this is something the Mike McCarthy's really gonna be able to work on.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm actually like kind of excited to see what Drew Aller might become.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_00]: Drew Aller, who would have been a buck, I had it not all right.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_00]: Reclassification of Quinn yours.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying like it was there was an interesting scenario there, but they picked Ohio State pick yours over over over Aller.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_00]: They were in the same class then yours reclassified and yours lasted a semester at Ohio State.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: They're not on quarters anymore.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_00]: They're like the world when I was there.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_00]: They're on some investors now.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'm off for the rest of the day.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: A lot a lot a lot of pressure on I'm going to go there.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_00]: It is BS that Ohio State and Penn State aren't pulling just for the record.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to put that on the record right here right now.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting, because whenever you bring up Ohio State, the same thing in my brain, the PLI, you gotta be kidding me.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: The same thing in my brain happens as like sophomore year of high school English class when the teacher's like, let's open up tail of two cities.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_01]: Something just, the lights just turn off, and I'm like, okay, I can wait until whatever it is you're done saying about Ohio State.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, I need to talk about it.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just like, I want to say, yeah.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, no for sure.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, big weekend coming up for me, Albert.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_01]: I got my first Y2K party.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_01]: What about that?
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everything 2000.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I'm, I took this very seriously.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to tell my neighbors.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's just up there, don't even know, like what that whole scare was, right?
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, where it is nothing to do.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_01]: It has nothing to do with like the computers almost turning off.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's like how close can I dress to the lead singer of lymphisket?
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm in the process right now of trying to put that outfit together.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: And it is a blast.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_00]: I was in college then and so I was in backwards red Yankees hat the uniform of like the college frack guy then was like the leather trench coat believe it or not and like French yeah was like a leather coat everybody had leather coat that was like a trench coat that like mock turtle necks from like express oh well yeah you're talking about like the
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_00]: I will say the Woodstock 99, but that documentary was such in like a BS portrayal of our generation, like, I will defend it.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was the Woodstock 99, being like that all the way to his black out break everything.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_00]: I go with just people don't have a good time anymore.
- 1:06:40[SPEAKER_01]: You heard of the Iberprear says it's all good on with stock 99.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_01]: Vaughn Miller is a cowboy by the way.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_01]: It was a fighter sprawl about the kids fault.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's my point on the effort anyway.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's the big move that Jerry Jones was talking about.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_01]: Vaughn Miller, home in Texas with the Cowboys past rush.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_01]: We will see you guys later this week.
- 1:07:20[UNKNOWN]: You
