- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always. Hello and welcome
- 0:20Speaker 1: back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I am your host, Clay and with me like every
- 0:28Speaker 1: single week. Of course, is Katie? How you doing?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Uh? You know what? It could be better, it could
- 0:36Speaker 2: be worse. I've still got a frog in my throat
- 0:38Speaker 2: clearly is my voice just cracked? I why it sticking around?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Neither do I. I have been down in cough, medicine
- 0:52Speaker 1: and music accent like all everything. I've been trying to
- 0:55Speaker 1: do everything that I can right, And I was actually
- 1:00Speaker 1: pretty good today and then I woke up from my
- 1:03Speaker 1: nap after work. Amberlyn woke up from her nap. She
- 1:07Speaker 1: wanted to watch Spider Man and Friends, and as we
- 1:18Speaker 1: were watching it, all of a sudden, I just had
- 1:19Speaker 1: like a huge coughing fit, and I'm like, what in
- 1:23Speaker 1: the world has Also, I just want to say, bat
- 1:28Speaker 1: Daddy fifty two. It's been a long time no see Hello, Greg? Hello, Hello, Hello.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That's what I got Greg.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I actually needed to go to the story and grab
- 1:47Speaker 1: some probably this weekend, but I've just got water today.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I've been trying to drink more water and it still.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Doesn't help, which is well it doesn't because this is
- 2:01Speaker 2: my fourth today and this is forty ounces. I don't know,
- 2:06Speaker 2: it's probably just the wedd but guys, Clay's gonna do it.
- 2:11Speaker 1: We have, yes, of course we have. We have many
- 2:15Speaker 1: things to talk about. We have some book news, we
- 2:19Speaker 1: have some audiobook news. We have of course the big topic,
- 2:24Speaker 1: which is the Mandalorian Broku commercial over at the Super Bowl,
- 2:31Speaker 1: and of course we have our Lost Stars review. Guys.
- 2:37Speaker 1: This is going to debut on all podcast catchers on
- 2:44Speaker 1: the twelfth, which is two days before Valentine's Day, so
- 2:49Speaker 1: we of course last week did a crash of fake
- 2:52Speaker 1: and this week doing Lost Stars. It is the two
- 2:55Speaker 1: most I feel like Valentine's Day, sq we we we
- 3:01Speaker 1: we could have thrown in Princess and the Scoundrel, but
- 3:04Speaker 1: it's been it's too soon. We've already we've already done
- 3:07Speaker 1: that book. So uh, maybe in a couple of years,
- 3:11Speaker 1: probably bring it back.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't know the rank of romantic Star Wars books.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Exactly, but also I think we should because we're getting
- 3:20Speaker 1: a fourth one with the next one that was actually
- 3:25Speaker 1: announced last year, with it being like a true romanticy
- 3:31Speaker 1: book within the Star Wars universe. So I think with
- 3:33Speaker 1: a total of now four, maybe even five, with uh
- 3:38Speaker 1: a temptation of the force.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You know, I was also gonna say, uh, convergence.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yes, convergence as well. Yeah, we there's actually wow, now
- 3:51Speaker 1: that I think about it, there's a few of them.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So we may have to add that as something we
- 3:56Speaker 1: can do in the future. But guys, we will be
- 4:00Speaker 1: talking about that as our last topic of the night. Now,
- 4:06Speaker 1: do you want to rip the band aid and talk
- 4:08Speaker 1: about the super Bowl?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Because I got opinions? Okay, I guys, I'm not on
- 4:15Speaker 2: Twitter anymore. This I didn't nothing.
- 4:18Speaker 1: This is probably not the hottest take about this ad.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But I'm just gonna tell you the exact same thing
- 4:28Speaker 1: that I told Adrian. I have never seen a company
- 4:34Speaker 1: in my lifetime. I have never actually seen somebody wipe
- 4:39Speaker 1: their ass with ten million dollars before until today, like
- 4:43Speaker 1: I have. I have never before seen a company be
- 4:47Speaker 1: able to just be like, hey, ten million dollars, whoop,
- 4:51Speaker 1: and that's what they did.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It's even more than ten million dollars, guys, let's be real,
- 4:57Speaker 2: because they paid fucking am Elliott to narrate the gosh
- 5:03Speaker 2: dang thing.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yes, yes, like.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I texted Clay and I said, oh, the game Spot's
- 5:13Speaker 2: already out apparently, and it it has tos.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So guys, I just want to Okay, So I was,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I was out doing some errands and I just get
- 5:26Speaker 1: this random text from Katie, random text saying so Twitter, no, no, no,
- 5:32Speaker 1: So this one is dot dot dot, followed by I
- 5:36Speaker 1: just saw a teaser from Mando and Grogu and there's
- 5:39Speaker 1: Tontons and that was it right as I was, as
- 5:45Speaker 1: I was texting, what the hell was there any snow?
- 5:51Speaker 1: She then continues, I came in at the end. So
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm not one hundred percent sure, but there's a chariot
- 5:57Speaker 1: pulled by Tontons. And so because I'm out running errands
- 6:03Speaker 1: in my mind, in my mind, I just think there's
- 6:06Speaker 1: a random ton tons on a like on a random
- 6:08Speaker 1: planet somewhere.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Do you want to know how I figured out that
- 6:12Speaker 2: this was a Star Wars commercial for the movie. It
- 6:15Speaker 2: wasn't even just an ad that they were using Star
- 6:18Speaker 2: Wars characters for.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be completely different.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I could have said, Okay, you know what, fine, whatever
- 6:25Speaker 2: it is, what it is kind of thing. The reason
- 6:28Speaker 2: I knew that this was a Star Wars at is
- 6:31Speaker 2: because my toddler looked and said, Goku.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That's cute as fuck. But it is.
- 6:39Speaker 2: But like I thought it, literally, I knew this was
- 6:44Speaker 2: like the main take on social media feeds, even though
- 6:47Speaker 2: I wasn't on Twitter, it was the main take on threads.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I thought it was a bud like commercial. Like I
- 6:53Speaker 2: thought it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It was the like most ass freaking f one fifty
- 7:01Speaker 1: commercial that I have ever seen.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yep, gard say, that was a lot of money to
- 7:06Speaker 2: pay for a craft ad.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And the problem is here is the true problem with that. Okay,
- 7:11Speaker 1: more than just okay, there has been plenty of ads
- 7:16Speaker 1: out there in the world that have collaborated with Star Wars.
- 7:22Speaker 1: There has been Coca Cola, There's been Doritos, There's been
- 7:24Speaker 1: nothing to Do. There's been so many out there where
- 7:28Speaker 1: this type of commercial would have been appropriate. Right, This
- 7:33Speaker 1: specific ad was meant to be a reminder to viewers, Hey,
- 7:42Speaker 1: we have a movie coming out this year next month, right,
- 7:48Speaker 1: is it March? It's Martin May May? Okay, in two
- 7:52Speaker 1: three months whatever? Right? And my problem with that is
- 7:59Speaker 1: it has been not one, not two, but three years
- 8:09Speaker 1: since season three ended. I was not in Indiana when
- 8:16Speaker 1: we recorded our review for season three. I was still intech. Yes,
- 8:22Speaker 1: that is a problem. That is a huge problem.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And to spend this amount of money on marketing for
- 8:31Speaker 2: a thirty second ad that literally just says this is
- 8:35Speaker 2: the way in a smooth voice, that is going to
- 8:39Speaker 2: get a lot of nostalgia out of people, because that's
- 8:42Speaker 2: what Sam Elliott does. Why genuinely, this was literally the
- 8:51Speaker 2: whitest commercial I think I've ever seen.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yes, and not only that, like we've we have seen
- 8:57Speaker 1: and they know they messed up because they came across
- 9:02Speaker 1: and then had to come out and say, oh guys,
- 9:05Speaker 1: there seems to be some confusion. This was not meant
- 9:10Speaker 1: to be a grandiose trailer for Mendalorian Grogu. We wanted
- 9:15Speaker 1: to have some fun and be nostalgic of the very
- 9:19Speaker 1: classic ads that are out in the Super Bowl. Cool,
- 9:23Speaker 1: let's do that with a freaking Yoda or Chewbacca or
- 9:30Speaker 1: somebody else. Don't put it where it's directly And you
- 9:34Speaker 1: had your freaking when you look at the freaking ad,
- 9:38Speaker 1: the actual name of the movie and it and the
- 9:41Speaker 1: date came out at the very end. It was a reminder, Hey,
- 9:46Speaker 1: we have a movie coming out, don't say that it's
- 9:48Speaker 1: not the reminder, Yeah, don't say that it's not marketing
- 9:51Speaker 1: for your movie that's coming out this year, because it
- 9:53Speaker 1: was an attempt, and it was a very poor attempt.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And we have talked about how part of the reason
- 10:00Speaker 2: that Solo failed is because they did not market at
- 10:04Speaker 2: Super Bowl for it. They went to the Super Bowl
- 10:07Speaker 2: and said, oh, I'm just gonna skip it this year,
- 10:10Speaker 2: and didn't give us a trailer until almost two and
- 10:12Speaker 2: a half months before the movie came out. We've talked
- 10:15Speaker 2: about how that was one of the biggest failings in
- 10:18Speaker 2: Star Wars marketing. This, I would consider is probably not
- 10:24Speaker 2: going to be a failure specifically because so many people
- 10:26Speaker 2: are talking about how dumb it was. And You've always
- 10:31Speaker 2: said any publicity is good publicity, guys like.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Especially nowadays, negative clicks are still clicks.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And so the fact that people are talking about Star
- 10:40Speaker 2: Wars and posting about it is good publicity, regardless of
- 10:45Speaker 2: if it says what the fuck was this.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Like to B point blank? Was it a cool trailer?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Yes?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Could, but would it have been better? Was it a
- 11:01Speaker 2: cool ad? Let's just say ad and not trailer, because
- 11:04Speaker 2: I don't think this was a trailer I don't if
- 11:08Speaker 2: they go to High, like I might walk out of
- 11:13Speaker 2: the theater. I'm not even joking, Like, I can't. Why
- 11:19Speaker 2: would you go back to high? There's nothing on High?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Okay? So three days ago was the Super Bowl ad
- 11:29Speaker 1: and there's three point one million views on the official
- 11:32Speaker 1: Star Wars Yes ad for it.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Okay too, Maul's trailer has three point nine views. Three
- 11:42Speaker 2: point nine million views. I did not scroll back so
- 11:48Speaker 2: far as to look at like the first Manda movie trailer,
- 11:55Speaker 2: but like, and I mean even the top comment and
- 12:00Speaker 2: again y'all again repeating myself, but good, bad publicity, good publicity.
- 12:06Speaker 2: The top comments on that trailer are what the heck
- 12:10Speaker 2: is this?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Basically, this feels like an ad for Luke's Green Milk.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yep, Like, this feels like an ad for a beverage.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Everyone in the bar thought this was a toy commercial.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm just reading some of the comments here. It's like
- 12:26Speaker 1: they're taking our can it get any worse comments and
- 12:29Speaker 1: challenging it at this point, Uh, do you remember Tontans?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I remember Tontans? This feels like AI. That was another
- 12:40Speaker 1: comment that I got a whole lot when I was
- 12:43Speaker 1: looking up the reaction to this.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I will say I probably I looked at it really
- 12:48Speaker 2: hard because I was like, I was trying to figure
- 12:50Speaker 2: out if there was any value in this trailer. Oh
- 12:54Speaker 2: the nostalgia. I didn't. This was one of the least
- 12:58Speaker 2: AI commercials of Super Bowl. There was a crap ton
- 13:01Speaker 2: of AI commercials in the Super Bowl. Was pathetic.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yep. So so one person even said they had the
- 13:11Speaker 1: Stormtrooper aim on this one. It was a swing and
- 13:16Speaker 1: a miss, very big miss.
- 13:18Speaker 2: H very big miss. But they might take it the
- 13:21Speaker 2: wrong way because everybody and their mother's talking about it.
- 13:24Speaker 2: So I would have rather seen a solo marketing technique
- 13:32Speaker 2: here where they said, I'm just going to skip the
- 13:34Speaker 2: super Bowl. You're talking about, oh, we need to save money,
- 13:38Speaker 2: we need to be careful about our budgets, and then
- 13:40Speaker 2: you blow at least twenty million dollars on this. That
- 13:46Speaker 2: was super pathetic.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I like, I don't know what else there really is
- 13:58Speaker 1: to say.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't want to harp on it, because but.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Like I like I I I the first comment that
- 14:06Speaker 1: I said was kind of like the one thing that
- 14:09Speaker 1: I told everybody was like, I have never in the
- 14:13Speaker 1: history of watching television has seen somebody take that much
- 14:19Speaker 1: money and basically use it as toilet paper. It's it's
- 14:27Speaker 1: mind boggling, genuinely mind boggling. But we shall see how
- 14:33Speaker 1: it is when it comes to the actual release of
- 14:36Speaker 1: the movie. Again, we have talked about what the box
- 14:39Speaker 1: office is going to look like. We don't believe that
- 14:42Speaker 1: it's gonna crack seven hundred, so we'll see. Yeaping on
- 14:50Speaker 1: true Star Wars fan's hearts, I think that is somewhat true. Again,
- 14:57Speaker 1: it's it's the idea of going into nostalgia, the Clydesdale
- 15:03Speaker 1: bud Light, Budwiser commercials, you know, type of thing. It's
- 15:10Speaker 1: it is what it is. But again with it being
- 15:14Speaker 1: so short, so small, not giving us any more information
- 15:18Speaker 1: about the movie, like it didn't do anything to help
- 15:22Speaker 1: them in their favor.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Is no, they're trying. They're trying to pull in the
- 15:27Speaker 2: boomers and the gen xers in this and go, hey,
- 15:31Speaker 2: you can come back to the theater like nostalgia are great.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeay, yeah, And that's exactly what Greg says at the
- 15:39Speaker 1: very bottom of his comments. He said, sounds like Star
- 15:41Speaker 1: Wars advertise. It played into a feature that only allowed
- 15:44Speaker 1: the next level fans to understand trying to reach an
- 15:49Speaker 1: audience that I don't necessarily think you need to try
- 15:55Speaker 1: and go for the gen xers, Like, yeah, genuinely, I
- 16:00Speaker 1: think that you should just go for Hey, what's the
- 16:04Speaker 1: general audience really going for these days? And go for that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: That's all you gotta do.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yep. He also says that Mall's trailer looks amazing.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we talked about that two weeks ago now.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So yeah, but super excited for that show to come out.
- 16:28Speaker 1: The next thing on our list, Katie, which one do
- 16:33Speaker 1: you want to talk about? First? A lot of bus news.
- 16:36Speaker 2: So the only one Star Wars News Net has is
- 16:39Speaker 2: the audible origional. So guys, this is going to be
- 16:44Speaker 2: an audible O regional And it is written by Cavin
- 16:48Speaker 2: Scott and narrated by Mark Thompson, and it's due to
- 16:55Speaker 2: come out April thirtieth. It's called Star Wars Terror on
- 16:59Speaker 2: Moose so far and Once upon a Galaxy on Facebook
- 17:07Speaker 2: actually posted this and it says Imperial Cadets aren't all
- 17:12Speaker 2: of the Empire's mightiest warrior Darth Vader, dark Lord of
- 17:15Speaker 2: the Sith, But when a few young cadets find themselves
- 17:18Speaker 2: trapped on the lava field, planet up most far and
- 17:20Speaker 2: in the shadow of Vader's castle. They will soon discover
- 17:23Speaker 2: that the Empire is not what it seems. Now they
- 17:26Speaker 2: must work together to escape from an evil scientist, his
- 17:29Speaker 2: horrendous experiments, and the fearsome Darth Vader. This is a
- 17:34Speaker 2: two hundred and twenty nine.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Minutes original original, so.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Just over three hours, just under four hours.
- 17:47Speaker 1: That's that's around the same time that we've been seeing
- 17:51Speaker 1: for the audible originals, maybe a little bit longer than
- 17:54Speaker 1: the last two that we've talked about. And I just
- 17:57Speaker 1: want to highlight this. Yeah, Greg, Katie and I took
- 18:02Speaker 1: into account the two nerd Box offices that we looked
- 18:10Speaker 1: into this past year, which was Fantastic four and Superman,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and looked at the trailer, kind of looked at our
- 18:17Speaker 1: own projections, and we don't think that it's going to
- 18:21Speaker 1: surpass either Fantastic four or Superman. Yeah, even though it
- 18:28Speaker 1: is the first Star Wars movie in six years.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I do think it'll pass Fantastic for at least. I
- 18:36Speaker 2: don't know if it'll pass Superman because Superman was I
- 18:39Speaker 2: think six.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's true, that's true.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I just think also with post COVID and movie theater prices.
- 18:48Speaker 2: That's also something to take into consideration. So yeah, and of.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Course there is the phenomenons like Zootopia, which I think
- 19:01Speaker 1: is still insane that it made a million, but yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you know, the next two pieces of book news. We
- 19:12Speaker 1: have a horror themed middle grade Star Wars novel by
- 19:17Speaker 1: Kirsten White. It'll be published this fall. Synopsis being Haunted
- 19:25Speaker 1: by an evil presence, A young girl tries to solve
- 19:27Speaker 1: the nightmarish mystery. Is her bookeyman a sith or something darker.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Horror readers and Star Wars fans of all ages will
- 19:37Speaker 1: thrill to this fright filled middle grade novel, so I
- 19:44Speaker 1: think this will be kind of fun. The last Kirston
- 19:48Speaker 1: White book that we read was Padawan, and we were
- 19:54Speaker 1: pretty neutral on it. I think there was some contradicting
- 19:59Speaker 1: things that we felt with the High Republic with that one.
- 20:02Speaker 1: This being you know, horror, not really Katie's forte when
- 20:09Speaker 1: it comes to genres, neither is mine. But I think
- 20:13Speaker 1: Kirston White might be keeping it a little bit toned
- 20:18Speaker 1: down because it is supposed to be a young reader's book,
- 20:21Speaker 1: so you know, hopefully we won't have any nightmares after that.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the goal, right, is that we won't
- 20:36Speaker 2: have any nightmares because it's hopefully written for a younger audience.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I am kind of excited about this because I feel
- 20:45Speaker 2: like Kirsten White is probably more suited for a middle
- 20:50Speaker 2: grade storytelling, So I'm interested to see how this goes.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, And of course, the last of book news is
- 21:01Speaker 1: the fact that the novelization of the Mandalorian Grogu will
- 21:06Speaker 1: be published this fall.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so that, Yeah, it's a junior novelization. It's not
- 21:15Speaker 2: an adult novelization. I think that's a key point to
- 21:18Speaker 2: make here. They really have not tried to do adult
- 21:24Speaker 2: novelizations since the rise of Skywalker. We've had novelizations of
- 21:29Speaker 2: like Book Melba Fat Mandalorian, but they've all been junior novelizations.
- 21:33Speaker 2: So this is probably not something that we will tackle
- 21:39Speaker 2: unless we were to like really think about it and
- 21:43Speaker 2: like be like, yeah, nothing else to cover kind of thing.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And I will also just go out and flat
- 21:51Speaker 1: out say it if we are asked to cover it
- 21:56Speaker 1: via of course, Uh, who do you think would be
- 22:00Speaker 1: publishing that would it be?
- 22:03Speaker 2: I think it specifically Insights that does. Yeah, and we
- 22:08Speaker 2: haven't talked to Insights yet Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 1: No, but if Delray or Disney were to approach us
- 22:15Speaker 1: about it, then you know, yeah, sure, whatever we can do,
- 22:17Speaker 1: definitely do it. But if not, then we're probably not
- 22:20Speaker 1: going to touch it.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And as always, guys, if they were to talk to
- 22:24Speaker 2: us about it, you get an honest opinion from us.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Yes, of course. But with that, I think we are
- 22:33Speaker 1: already gonna be jumping into our Lost Stars review. Yes, okay,
- 22:43Speaker 1: yes we are. Sorry it looked like it looked like
- 22:45Speaker 1: you froze just for a second.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I was like, oh no, sorry, my sister texted me.
- 22:54Speaker 2: She was asking me for something, so I'm gonna find this.
- 22:56Speaker 2: But yes, I'm ready to dive into Lost Stars. Guys,
- 22:59Speaker 2: this is I would call this a Romeo and Juliet
- 23:04Speaker 2: of Star Wars.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yes, actually yeah, a lot of parallels to that. Katie.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I don't know if this is gonna be controversial or not,
- 23:18Speaker 1: because I've never really heard your opinion on this. I
- 23:23Speaker 1: want to say that it's not like the best book
- 23:28Speaker 1: ever in your mind, but this would have been a
- 23:34Speaker 1: ten out of ten if it wasn't for the ending.
- 23:37Speaker 2: If it wasn't for the ending.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think I actually had a really fun
- 23:44Speaker 1: time with this, I thought this, guys, I don't know
- 23:48Speaker 1: why I haven't read this book in so long, but
- 23:51Speaker 1: like we we just talked about the genre of romanticy
- 23:58Speaker 1: last week, about how Katie kind of plunged me into
- 24:01Speaker 1: it recently and how, uh you know it could be well,
- 24:08Speaker 1: Star Wars specifically has never really got like raunchy, it's
- 24:11Speaker 1: never really been like spicy.
- 24:16Speaker 2: That was making love comments here.
- 24:20Speaker 1: This book like really toted the line for where Star
- 24:24Speaker 1: Wars has been like ever in when it comes to
- 24:28Speaker 1: romance stuff, and I was like, okay, okay, and like
- 24:34Speaker 1: there was even some comments. I will say I think
- 24:37Speaker 1: Claudia Gray did it on purpose, but there's like a
- 24:41Speaker 1: lot of like toxic masculinity like comments here that kind
- 24:49Speaker 1: of made me feel a little gross. I actually highlighted
- 24:53Speaker 1: some of those. But yeah, like I I was reading
- 24:57Speaker 1: this and I was like, this is actually really good.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I actually really like this. And then probably I read
- 25:06Speaker 1: chapter twenty eight twenty seven and twenty eight was like
- 25:11Speaker 1: the two chapters that I'm just like, god damn it.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Probably in Claudia Gray's writing for Star Wars, not her
- 25:20Speaker 2: higher Republic stuff, because that would just draw things out
- 25:24Speaker 2: too far. But it would probably be Leya, Princess of Aldern,
- 25:29Speaker 2: Lost Stars, Bloodline, and then Master and Apprentice.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Okay, so I have read all of those now, h
- 25:39Speaker 1: I've read all of those. I still think Princess Leigh's
- 25:44Speaker 1: top top notch. I think that is number one. I
- 25:51Speaker 1: think I had. I think I might be in the
- 25:53Speaker 1: same boat as you. Actually, I think I would have
- 25:58Speaker 1: to listen or read Bloodline and Master and Prince again,
- 26:02Speaker 1: because I did have a lot of fun with Master
- 26:05Speaker 1: and Apprentice. But I think I was a little more
- 26:08Speaker 1: into Bloodline. Yeah, Lost Stars, I was into more than
- 26:14Speaker 1: Bloodline for sure, and more than Master and Apprentice. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 1: this book really drew me in. I really really enjoyed it.
- 26:23Speaker 1: From like the early days of the two characters. We
- 26:26Speaker 1: literally got the entire trilogy of the original trilogy going
- 26:32Speaker 1: into the sequel trilogy, and uh, excuse me.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I not the sequel trilogy. You don't go that far.
- 26:42Speaker 1: No, we don't go that far. Yeah. Yeah, because we
- 26:45Speaker 1: get to like the very beginnings of the Battle of Jakku.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that in the Battle of Jaku being the
- 26:52Speaker 2: one that we witness in the Aftermath trilogy and the
- 26:56Speaker 2: last book of Aftermath. Yes, so that's kind of your
- 26:59Speaker 2: timeline with this. It takes place. The prologue happens in
- 27:04Speaker 2: eleven BB. Why the majority of the book takes place
- 27:07Speaker 2: between six bby and five ABY. So you might recognize
- 27:15Speaker 2: a character that's in this commat Dean Lark, because he's
- 27:19Speaker 2: in the Throng trilogy or at least the first Thron book.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 27:24Speaker 2: You would not see Thron in this book A because
- 27:27Speaker 2: he didn't exist at this point. This book came out
- 27:30Speaker 2: in September of twenty fifteen, so Thron wasn't even into
- 27:35Speaker 2: consideration yet as far as Rebels and the Throng books
- 27:41Speaker 2: came out after he made an appearance in Rembles. So,
- 27:44Speaker 2: but Zohon did reuse Kamadant Dean Lark uh four.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I was actually really like wondering about that because there,
- 27:54Speaker 1: of course, when you think about the like, hey, what's
- 28:01Speaker 1: gonna happen after the Emperor falls? You know, Thron does play,
- 28:07Speaker 1: you know, a part in that, and so I thought
- 28:10Speaker 1: Theron was gonna be brought up. I didn't know that
- 28:12Speaker 1: there was published prior to that, though.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeahron, let's see if Han Cannon Star Wars the Imperial
- 28:27Speaker 2: Trilogy is apparently what it's called on Wikipedia. Fron came
- 28:31Speaker 2: out in twenty seventeen, so not too far off, but
- 28:35Speaker 2: still faring off apart where it makes a difference.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but there was a lot of familiar faces.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And I am pretty sure, pretty sure, especially now that
- 28:52Speaker 1: I know that the preview to Leah Princess of Aldron
- 28:57Speaker 1: is at the very end of this book. I'm pretty
- 29:01Speaker 1: sure that a part of Princess of Aldron takes place
- 29:07Speaker 1: in this book.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Yes, I it has been all while since I have
- 29:14Speaker 2: read Leyah Princess of Alderon.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 29:17Speaker 2: That was published September twenty seventeen, so approximately two years later.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Because Lost Stars was published as part of the Journey
- 29:28Speaker 2: to the Force Awakens and Leyah Princess of Aldron was
- 29:31Speaker 2: published in the Journey to Star Wars Last Jedi, so
- 29:34Speaker 2: it's still part of the sam type of published. But
- 29:41Speaker 2: let me see, So this takes place in three BB.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Why so Lost Star is taking place six b B. Why? Yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 2: because I believe Leya is a junior senator.
- 29:53Speaker 1: There's a there's a moment where they're at this ball
- 29:58Speaker 1: and Leia is there. Yeah, and that ball I'm pretty
- 30:03Speaker 1: sure plays a very important part in Leah Princess of Alduran.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And it's really funny because in this book, Thane, which
- 30:16Speaker 1: is one of our characters, mentions that Leah felt or
- 30:22Speaker 1: Leyah looked very distracted. Guys. I just finished Leah Prince
- 30:28Speaker 1: of Onderan like last year, like, so it's fresh in
- 30:31Speaker 1: my mind. I remember that, like she was like trying
- 30:36Speaker 1: to be a spy without anybody else knowing, not her parents,
- 30:40Speaker 1: not my mathma, like, not anybody. So like she was
- 30:44Speaker 1: getting into some stuff around that time too. So I
- 30:49Speaker 1: think it's kind of cool that Claudia quite possibly like
- 30:56Speaker 1: had planned this out when looking into like her stuff
- 31:03Speaker 1: for Leya Princess of Waldron.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I do think she did, because I Budline scarss Let's
- 31:25Speaker 2: see bloodline was published as well in the Journey to
- 31:29Speaker 2: Star Wars The Force Awakens, so that was published May third,
- 31:32Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, And so I really think she tried to
- 31:41Speaker 2: treat like I really feel like she wanted a like
- 31:48Speaker 2: original trilogy era Leyah to kind of complete her trilogy
- 31:55Speaker 2: of Leah here, because you have Leyah Princess of Waldron,
- 31:59Speaker 2: so you have book one of book three idealistically, and
- 32:03Speaker 2: I know a lot of people were like, hey, we
- 32:05Speaker 2: would love to get a original trilogy novel from her.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I do think probably she has kind of reached the
- 32:16Speaker 2: point with like Justina Ireland where she's like, I am
- 32:19Speaker 2: super tired of Star Wars. I don't want to do
- 32:21Speaker 2: her anymore because Claudie Gray has been doing a lot
- 32:24Speaker 2: of Star Wars. Yeah, so, like I think that's why
- 32:28Speaker 2: she fell off in Phase three of the Higher Republic
- 32:32Speaker 2: is because she's like, dude, I'm dead.
- 32:35Speaker 1: So makes sense. But some of the things that I
- 32:42Speaker 1: wanted to highlight, well, first we said the timeline that
- 32:50Speaker 1: this goes through, but we didn't talk about who this
- 32:53Speaker 1: book is about. This book is about two star Cross lovers,
- 33:04Speaker 1: Sienna and Thane. They grew up on the planet of.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Jelu Khan, Yes, and they.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Were in two different factions of their society. Sienna was
- 33:26Speaker 1: a little bit of the lower class while Thane was
- 33:30Speaker 1: a upper class, and they both grew up wanting to
- 33:37Speaker 1: be servants of the Empire. And Katie, that's one of
- 33:40Speaker 1: the first highlights that I wanted to talk to you about.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Every single time we read a book, majority of the
- 33:51Speaker 1: time we've been reading in the eyes of the rebels,
- 33:55Speaker 1: fighting the bad guys, It wasn't until recently with the
- 34:01Speaker 1: uh uh Darth Vader book The Dynasty of the Master sorry,
- 34:11Speaker 1: Master of Evil, that we really were in the shoes
- 34:16Speaker 1: of the Empire. Little did I know they had already
- 34:20Speaker 1: done that before. With this, it boggled my mind to
- 34:30Speaker 1: see the thoughts of these characters and be like, no,
- 34:36Speaker 1: you're on the wrong side. Stop saying these things. You
- 34:43Speaker 1: don't know anything.
- 34:45Speaker 2: But Claudia Agree does an incredible job with Annal with
- 34:51Speaker 2: tying that to Sienna's heritage, because you get in kind
- 34:59Speaker 2: of chapters while they're still on a Jelocon you get
- 35:02Speaker 2: a point where one of their neighbors has been accused
- 35:06Speaker 2: of something dishonorable and so uh Sienna has to go
- 35:13Speaker 2: basically stand vigil with them to show that people believe
- 35:18Speaker 2: in their honor kind of thing, and that for the
- 35:22Speaker 2: heritage of Jelucon, for the people who lived there first,
- 35:28Speaker 2: to do something dishonorable is the highest, like treasonous thing
- 35:35Speaker 2: you could do.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Basically, Yeah, honor is like the base of all of
- 35:40Speaker 1: their values in this society. And I really like that
- 35:47Speaker 1: now Again, it made me really hate the last chapters
- 35:53Speaker 1: of this book. Yeah, and more so I just want
- 35:57Speaker 1: to say because of the physical fight. If there was
- 36:01Speaker 1: a verbal fight, I would have been completely fine. It
- 36:05Speaker 1: was the physical fight that made me just grown and
- 36:07Speaker 1: be like, are you serious we have to go through
- 36:09Speaker 1: this entire twenty two page chapter of them throwing hands
- 36:14Speaker 1: at each other, like seriously, but we'll get there. But
- 36:19Speaker 1: I really liked Sienna's really core values of Hey, honor
- 36:29Speaker 1: is what it is, my word is sacred, my oath
- 36:33Speaker 1: is sacred. And it was very interesting how Claudia Gray
- 36:40Speaker 1: wrote it to where there is a little bit of
- 36:44Speaker 1: contradiction when it comes to honor, and I love the
- 36:52Speaker 1: way she wrote this, in the way that she had
- 36:55Speaker 1: Fine explain it to Sienna. It's not that, uh, theyne
- 37:03Speaker 1: explained it is like, oh, you don't have to worry
- 37:05Speaker 1: about you being loyal to the empire. Is the empire
- 37:10Speaker 1: being loyal to you?
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yep?
- 37:14Speaker 1: And it's and and that is meaning like, Hey, all
- 37:17Speaker 1: of this stuff that the empire has promised, are they
- 37:21Speaker 1: keeping that promise or are they just dangling it in
- 37:25Speaker 1: front of you to make you do everything that they
- 37:30Speaker 1: want you to do. And that's what the empire does,
- 37:33Speaker 1: and that's what thein eventually sees and he's at Yep,
- 37:39Speaker 1: he loved it.
- 37:41Speaker 2: He gets so piste off on their behalf at the
- 37:48Speaker 2: end of it, because like he wants to basically have
- 37:54Speaker 2: all of this support structure where they can follow their
- 37:56Speaker 2: dreams and fly the best, brightest of the Imperial galaxies
- 38:04Speaker 2: uh ships. And so especially when they're at the academy
- 38:10Speaker 2: and they have that cheating scandal come up, where like
- 38:15Speaker 2: in the system it says, oh, Sienna did this, but
- 38:19Speaker 2: then Jude comes out and is like, oh no, but like.
- 38:24Speaker 1: It's actually a cover up because fin really did.
- 38:26Speaker 2: It, yep. And then yeah, it was down further it
- 38:31Speaker 2: is like, actually, no, neither of you did it. It
- 38:34Speaker 2: was somebody student outcomes like and screaming the entire time
- 38:42Speaker 2: because you're like, why is this so hard for Sienna
- 38:45Speaker 2: to understand because she hadn't taken a note at this time,
- 38:49Speaker 2: like she's in it's the ideal.
- 38:56Speaker 1: And that was something that I really liked also because
- 39:01Speaker 1: I immediately when I was reading the chapter when then
- 39:07Speaker 1: had messed up, I was like, who are they going
- 39:09Speaker 1: to frame it on? Yep, Like because I immediately thought
- 39:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh, okay, like these two are the
- 39:15Speaker 1: hardest working two individuals in this academy, like, they're not
- 39:20Speaker 1: going to mess up who who's Who's who? Is it
- 39:24Speaker 1: gonna be blamed on yep. And as soon as I
- 39:28Speaker 1: saw where it was going, I was like, Oh, there,
- 39:32Speaker 1: it's the Empire trying to mess things up. And then
- 39:34Speaker 1: I love how they throw the wrench in it when
- 39:38Speaker 1: it wasn't I forget. I can't remember who it was,
- 39:42Speaker 1: but there was somebody in the academy that at the ballmate,
- 39:47Speaker 1: you two are so stupid, you like, he was all
- 39:51Speaker 1: drunk and he was saying all of these things. He's like,
- 39:55Speaker 1: can't you see that it was this? And then even
- 39:58Speaker 1: then and Sena said, Okay, let's calm down. What if
- 40:03Speaker 1: it's actually his father? Yeah, that you know, threw some
- 40:08Speaker 1: money at some people to get his points up as
- 40:12Speaker 1: high as they need to be to be successful in
- 40:14Speaker 1: the academy, right, h I do like that they threw
- 40:18Speaker 1: that in there to keep the reader guessing. Do they
- 40:24Speaker 1: ever give you an answer? No, because they still want
- 40:28Speaker 1: you to question everything. Claudia Gray wants you to question everything,
- 40:33Speaker 1: especially when it comes time when Sienna has to go
- 40:40Speaker 1: and view the trial of her mother, Because Sienna then
- 40:53Speaker 1: immediately thinks, oh, crap. What if this is a test.
- 40:59Speaker 1: What if this is a test and they're trying to
- 41:02Speaker 1: see if I'm loyal And if I say that my
- 41:07Speaker 1: mother's innocence is true, then I'm actually I'm defying the Empire,
- 41:16Speaker 1: and I'll get in trouble for that and I'll get
- 41:18Speaker 1: reprimanded and punished.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Like, there's so many twists and turns in this. I
- 41:28Speaker 1: really liked how Thane was the one to turn first
- 41:36Speaker 1: because when in the Academy, he's so passionate about like
- 41:45Speaker 1: seeing the corruption already. It's like, dude, you're right there.
- 41:51Speaker 1: You're right there. Like just a little bit further and
- 41:53Speaker 1: you're there. But my question to you is how did
- 41:59Speaker 1: you feel about Nash and his story, Because he's not
- 42:05Speaker 1: really that important, but he becomes a important character due
- 42:13Speaker 1: to the fact of how he is so close to
- 42:16Speaker 1: Sienna near the end of the story.
- 42:20Speaker 2: So I thought he was interesting because he almost was
- 42:23Speaker 2: kind of like the big brother that Stane Allblays wanted,
- 42:31Speaker 2: and so playing off that foil and finding oh that
- 42:37Speaker 2: Nash actually really likes Sienna and wants to make it
- 42:40Speaker 2: a thing like it's It's a big part of the
- 42:44Speaker 2: novel that kind of lingers in the background until the
- 42:46Speaker 2: very end, and I almost wish that Claudia had kind
- 42:51Speaker 2: of played up that part towards the end, especially when
- 42:55Speaker 2: Sienna saves Stain instead of Nash going like, oh, like
- 43:02Speaker 2: how could you do that? Like he clearly betrayed you,
- 43:05Speaker 2: Like he goes and comforts her, and it's like, oh,
- 43:08Speaker 2: you were just shocked. Like I wish that had kind
- 43:11Speaker 2: of been played up. Almost.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I don't know, because again Claudia had purposely wrote some
- 43:17Speaker 1: stuff in here that made me feel really gross. It's
- 43:20Speaker 1: very nitpicky, I know, but like there's, like I said,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I highlighted some stuff. There was something in the very
- 43:26Speaker 1: beginning of the book when it talked about Dalvin, which
- 43:31Speaker 1: is Thine's brother. Yeah, we know that Dalvin actually picked
- 43:35Speaker 1: on seeing a whole lot as they were kids, because
- 43:38Speaker 1: of course she was the lower class yep. And it
- 43:42Speaker 1: says here not long before Dalvin had left the academy,
- 43:48Speaker 1: he sneered and said that there was only one reason
- 43:51Speaker 1: to pick up some girls from the valleys, and if
- 43:54Speaker 1: that was what Thane was after, he ought to get
- 43:58Speaker 1: one who had breasts already. Thing split Dalvin's lip before
- 44:06Speaker 1: their parents pulled them apart. Like I know that, like
- 44:14Speaker 1: Clutney Gray is a great writer, but there was just
- 44:16Speaker 1: some things in here that maybe go like this gives
- 44:20Speaker 1: me the ick.
- 44:22Speaker 3: It does, but I think that's on purpose, and she
- 44:25Speaker 3: does it very well because this is a young adult
- 44:27Speaker 3: novel and she treats the young adult readers the teenagers,
- 44:34Speaker 3: like they should be treated in this instance.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Also, you've had this comment highlighted but Travis Hello.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yes, hello Travis. Sorry, Yes, this book is now a
- 44:47Speaker 1: decade old, and he said that it's one of his favorites.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Another comment that was giving me the ick was also
- 44:58Speaker 1: from Nash and this was around the time of the
- 45:03Speaker 1: Ball and he said, Uh, this is when they're talking
- 45:08Speaker 1: about what they should do on their free time. He says, Oh,
- 45:12Speaker 1: they're you know, go to the clubs, canteenas blah blah blah.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Girls who are forbidden like our fellow cadets. Oh, girls
- 45:19Speaker 1: who aren't forbidden, Like talking about oh we can go
- 45:22Speaker 1: see some girls at some clubs. Hey, not these girls
- 45:25Speaker 1: that are forbidden our fellow cadets. No touchable girls. Ah,
- 45:34Speaker 1: it's creepy, it's weird.
- 45:36Speaker 2: It's but you need to feel uncomfortable with these things,
- 45:40Speaker 2: because too often, especially right now, guys, we have kids
- 45:44Speaker 2: who are like, oh yeah, like all this is fine. No,
- 45:48Speaker 2: it's not fine, and you need to recognize that. And
- 45:51Speaker 2: so I think the discomfort is there on purpose, and
- 45:54Speaker 2: you haven't said like you disliked it in a writing
- 45:57Speaker 2: since you're just are experiencing your feeling.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, no, no, And truly, like again, Claudia Gray
- 46:04Speaker 1: did an amazing job at this. She the the feelings
- 46:08Speaker 1: and the emotions that I am getting reading these words
- 46:11Speaker 1: on these pages is exactly what she is wanting to
- 46:14Speaker 1: invoke in us is Hey, this is not right, this
- 46:18Speaker 1: is uncomfortable, this is gross, especially when we get to
- 46:25Speaker 1: a point in the future where Fame has left the
- 46:32Speaker 1: empire and Sienna covered for him even though she said
- 46:41Speaker 1: she wasn't going to.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Noh she I loved that because it just shows it
- 46:48Speaker 2: shows the depths to which she was willing to break
- 46:51Speaker 2: the oath because a lot of people are like, oh, like,
- 46:55Speaker 2: this isn't okay, Like this is the one thing you
- 46:58Speaker 2: chose to break your oath for. But it was because
- 47:01Speaker 2: she's protecting him, guys, and that was showing the depths
- 47:04Speaker 2: of her love.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Like and that was like, that was something that I
- 47:10Speaker 1: really enjoyed when it came into Like the perspective of
- 47:15Speaker 1: Zienna was, how is she going to justify this? Yeah,
- 47:20Speaker 1: how what kind of hypocrisy is she going to you
- 47:23Speaker 1: know what? Hoops? Is she going to jump into her
- 47:25Speaker 1: own brain for the idea of, Oh, I'm still loyal
- 47:31Speaker 1: to the Empire, but I'm loyal to this one individual, right, Yes,
- 47:35Speaker 1: And Fame was the same way for a bit, until,
- 47:41Speaker 1: of course he saw what happened to the Death Star
- 47:45Speaker 1: with the Death Star and then to the Death Star,
- 47:50Speaker 1: and he's like, hey, yeah, you know, like even the Rebellion,
- 47:53Speaker 1: he's like, hey, I am loyal to the rebellion, but
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm more loyal to her, right, Because there's even this
- 48:01Speaker 1: moment where they do see each other again in the
- 48:03Speaker 1: future and he goes to one of his superiors in
- 48:08Speaker 1: the rebellion. He's like, hey, I gotta tell you what
- 48:09Speaker 1: I've been doing. He's like, uh, this is a volunteer service.
- 48:12Speaker 1: You don't need to tell me anything. And as he's
- 48:15Speaker 1: walking away, he's like, hey, I saw a superior officer
- 48:17Speaker 1: in the in uh the Empire, and like he stops
- 48:21Speaker 1: in his tracks and he turns around. He's liked, just
- 48:25Speaker 1: why you willingly met with the enemy. He's like yeah,
- 48:31Speaker 1: and like again it gets a little gross in the
- 48:35Speaker 1: sense of like military talk, and they're like, oh, so
- 48:38Speaker 1: you went to go meet this girl and bang your ex.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Like okay, it does get really intimate. They're like there's
- 48:50Speaker 1: a moment where but it's all.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Good feeling, like about not good feelings, but like it's
- 48:56Speaker 2: all really well written and the emotional.
- 48:59Speaker 1: The way his eyes seemed to drink her in. I'm like, okay, Like, ay, now.
- 49:06Speaker 2: I'm listening to this today. And I was like, oh,
- 49:09Speaker 2: I forgot who said that.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Which I'm actually really jealous of because I couldn't listen
- 49:17Speaker 1: to this book. I was literally just three days short
- 49:23Speaker 1: of starting it, so I need like I still have
- 49:27Speaker 1: it on hold again at Libby, and I will listen
- 49:31Speaker 1: to this book when it becomes available again. I will
- 49:34Speaker 1: listen to it because I do think this book deserves
- 49:37Speaker 1: a reread. But yeah, guys, this book was actually really
- 49:43Speaker 1: really fun going back and forth with their perspectives and
- 49:48Speaker 1: their ideals and what it means to fight against a
- 49:54Speaker 1: terroristic regime. Of course, Fane see the ideas of what
- 50:01Speaker 1: the Empire is doing and willing to completely destroy planets
- 50:06Speaker 1: for you know, just the intimidation factor. You know. He
- 50:11Speaker 1: immediately saw that as something wrong and left the Empire,
- 50:14Speaker 1: whereas Sienna saw it as like, oh, it's a one
- 50:19Speaker 1: time thing. They'll never have to do that again. But
- 50:21Speaker 1: at least they stopped the war. And then again, it's
- 50:26Speaker 1: so funny because in today's society, there's a lot of
- 50:32Speaker 1: people that are willing to say, Okay, this is where
- 50:35Speaker 1: I'm drawing the line. Okay, well you you you stepped
- 50:40Speaker 1: over that line. Now I'm going to draw a new line.
- 50:43Speaker 1: And that seemed to be Siena. Every single historic event
- 50:49Speaker 1: that happened with the Empire, Sienna kept drawing that line
- 50:53Speaker 1: and kept drawing that line and saying, Oh, but I'm loyal,
- 50:57Speaker 1: I'm loyal, I'm loyal. I'm loyal, even all the way
- 51:02Speaker 1: to the very end, to the point where Claudia Gray
- 51:07Speaker 1: does not give you the satisfaction of being able to
- 51:13Speaker 1: see the nasay, hey, I've left the Empire. No, she
- 51:20Speaker 1: is still loyal to the Empire at the end of
- 51:22Speaker 1: this That's not what I'm upset about. Again, when it
- 51:28Speaker 1: comes time at the very end Faigne and seeing a
- 51:35Speaker 1: get in an actual physical altercation and they're just arguing, Oh,
- 51:42Speaker 1: I'm willing to die with you right here. Oh well,
- 51:46Speaker 1: I'm willing to die with you right here also. But
- 51:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to save you. But I'm trying to save you.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm trying to save you. I'm gonna hit you. I'm
- 51:51Speaker 1: gonna hit you, I'm gonna kick you. But I want, like,
- 51:55Speaker 1: I would have much rather had like an emotional billing
- 52:00Speaker 1: of feelings, even though that's what they did every single
- 52:04Speaker 1: time they saw each like, because it got to a
- 52:09Speaker 1: point that even like Fan this time around at the
- 52:12Speaker 1: very end of like not even at the very end
- 52:15Speaker 1: when he was like meeting her in her cell at
- 52:18Speaker 1: the very end of the of the very end of
- 52:20Speaker 1: the book, he starts to like argue with her, and
- 52:22Speaker 1: he's like, you know what, we're gonna say the same
- 52:25Speaker 1: thing that we always say every single time. I'm not
- 52:29Speaker 1: even gonna waste my.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Breath, Yeah, because it's really not worth it to him,
- 52:35Speaker 2: Like he wants to enjoy the time that he's spending
- 52:37Speaker 2: with her. Yeah, And we don't know what happens to
- 52:41Speaker 2: Sienna at the end of this, And I think That's
- 52:45Speaker 2: what sucks the most, is like I want to know
- 52:48Speaker 2: what happened to her ultimately, and so like to me,
- 52:56Speaker 2: that's what I need from Client Ray is I need
- 52:58Speaker 2: what happened to see.
- 53:00Speaker 1: There needs to there needs to be like something well,
- 53:03Speaker 1: I like again, just like how we've talked about in
- 53:08Speaker 1: Excuse Me and Crash of Fate. How oh you know
- 53:14Speaker 1: these two you know, individuals that grew up together. You know,
- 53:19Speaker 1: it's assumed that they're going to be out in the
- 53:22Speaker 1: fight in uh in exegle, right, I think there needs
- 53:27Speaker 1: to be another, like a certain point of view where
- 53:36Speaker 1: we see Sienna and.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Fame at the very least. The other thing that I
- 53:43Speaker 2: would love to see is if maybe Disney and or
- 53:50Speaker 2: random House Worlds, because random House Worlds now has a
- 53:54Speaker 2: contract to publish young adult books, if they could go
- 53:59Speaker 2: Obviously ten year anniversary is too soon at this point
- 54:04Speaker 2: or has passed, so maybe if we could do like
- 54:07Speaker 2: a fifteen year special edition where we get an epilogue
- 54:13Speaker 2: at the back of the book it says they lived
- 54:17Speaker 2: happily ever after the end well like okay, so, like
- 54:22Speaker 2: I know it's supposed to be Romeo and Juliet, like
- 54:25Speaker 2: that is the trope here, right, is the star Crossed
- 54:29Speaker 2: Lovers going into it, and just like it's a retelling
- 54:36Speaker 2: of Romeo and Juliet and Star Wars, and so I
- 54:39Speaker 2: know there is no happily ever after in Romeo and Juliet.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Guys don't tell me that because I know that we
- 54:48Speaker 2: can still take the trope and use it as the
- 54:51Speaker 2: main stories, but they have a happily ever after.
- 54:54Speaker 1: That does bring me to my final question though, Claudia
- 55:05Speaker 1: Gray decided to not in the book with Sienna and Thane,
- 55:14Speaker 1: instead into the book with Nash with the Empire with
- 55:21Speaker 1: uh Thane's brother Delvan.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Which I thought was very interesting.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Well tell me, like, what are your thoughts on that?
- 55:30Speaker 1: Why do you think she did that?
- 55:32Speaker 2: Well, so, I think it was like to go with
- 55:35Speaker 2: the idea with the setting up of the Grand Empire
- 55:40Speaker 2: that we get in the Rise of Skywalker. It's setting
- 55:43Speaker 2: up for that first order the final order kind of thing,
- 55:47Speaker 2: and so that's again playing into all of like the Aftermath,
- 55:51Speaker 2: Alphabet Squadron, all those things, and so I think that
- 55:56Speaker 2: was the setup there is like hey, we're all united again,
- 56:00Speaker 2: We're going to figure this out. And so there's a
- 56:03Speaker 2: lot of people who kind of end up there and
- 56:09Speaker 2: are Our thought process with that story is, hey, they're
- 56:14Speaker 2: all over there in on Exagon or in the unknown regions,
- 56:20Speaker 2: like working on building the First Order. Because this all
- 56:23Speaker 2: takes place five a b y. The First Order doesn't
- 56:27Speaker 2: really come to light until thirty ABY, so we're talking
- 56:32Speaker 2: twenty five years where people could die, people could do
- 56:35Speaker 2: all these things basically. So that's my thought is because
- 56:41Speaker 2: it's that journey to the Force awakens. Yeah, she was told, hey,
- 56:46Speaker 2: you need to end it with some tie in to
- 56:49Speaker 2: the planning for the First Order.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I again, just because of the way that Nash's
- 56:57Speaker 1: character evolved, I'm entirely sure how I felt with him
- 57:04Speaker 1: not dying. And that's more so because I think that
- 57:11Speaker 1: it would have been again a part of that like
- 57:15Speaker 1: Romeo Juliet, like very poetic tragic death. Now we already
- 57:22Speaker 1: had that poetic tragic death with Jude, but we rarely
- 57:27Speaker 1: had Jude. We actually started to grow in like some
- 57:31Speaker 1: sort of acknowledgment and relationship with Nash. Like I really
- 57:35Speaker 1: do feel like if there was a clash between Fane
- 57:39Speaker 1: and Nash, that there would have been something there. But
- 57:44Speaker 1: because there even was at one point Nash recognized Thane's
- 57:48Speaker 1: voice and was like, you mother Effort, you're alive, you
- 57:54Speaker 1: join the rebellion, you deserve to die. And Sienna was like,
- 58:00Speaker 1: oh crap, I have to save them, and she had
- 58:02Speaker 1: to do it kind of meticulously so that way, you know,
- 58:05Speaker 1: she wasn't seen as a trader or anything else. So
- 58:09Speaker 1: like to see him grow into this inevitable person of
- 58:13Speaker 1: power in the Empire or the you know, remnants of
- 58:17Speaker 1: the Empire, excuse me. I was like, okay, but we
- 58:23Speaker 1: don't really see anything of him in the future, So like,
- 58:29Speaker 1: why ended with Nash, you know, And that was my
- 58:33Speaker 1: thing again.
- 58:34Speaker 2: I think it's I think it's mainly because Lucasfilm had
- 58:39Speaker 2: all these grand ideas for what the Final Order was
- 58:42Speaker 2: supposed to be, and so they came into this going, hey,
- 58:48Speaker 2: we'll take these Journey to X movie and then expand
- 58:53Speaker 2: upon it with something else, and so they were planning
- 58:57Speaker 2: all of these things that happened, while then Last Jedi
- 59:00Speaker 2: didn't hit with people with the mega fan boys as
- 59:05Speaker 2: much as it would have liked, and so then they
- 59:07Speaker 2: had to pivot into something else, which is what the
- 59:10Speaker 2: Rise of Skywalker became. So it's a lot of things.
- 59:15Speaker 2: I think that came into Hey, we have all these
- 59:18Speaker 2: grand ideas. Basically, Yeah, I agree with Travis. He says
- 59:24Speaker 2: the idea that Nash goes to Xigall, implying that once
- 59:26Speaker 2: you're part of the First Order or of the Final Order,
- 59:30Speaker 2: there is no defecting. You go to Exagon, you stay there.
- 59:32Speaker 2: I think that's one hundred percent accurate. Palpatine manipulated the
- 59:36Speaker 2: people of Exagal to kind of help him with his
- 59:38Speaker 2: Sith Empire, and it's the very exact same thing that
- 59:44Speaker 2: happens with the Imperial Remnant that ends up in the
- 59:47Speaker 2: Unknown Regions, that eventually gets to Exagal. I think that's
- 59:49Speaker 2: why we haven't heard much from Admiral race Loan is
- 59:55Speaker 2: because it's kind of the exact same thing here. Basically
- 59:58Speaker 2: our impression is that but all of these Area of books,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: probably twenty fifteen to twenty eighteen, if they end with
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: somebody going off into the Unknown Regions, they probably died
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: before the sequel trilogy started. Yeah, in the Unknown Regions,
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: working for the First Order, Final Order, whatever you want
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: to call.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh. He also says nothing based in canon, but
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I could see Palpatine taking the most gifted of his
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: strategists and command and using them as clone templates to
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: create the perfect order. Yeah, I could see that. I
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: can see that really really cool head canon there, Travis.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that, especially because you know, like he's
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: experimenting with cloning anyways, so it makes perfect sense.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, well guys, that is it for our review.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I would, as somebody who read this for the very
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: first time, one would recommend Lost Stars. In the books
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: that I've read of Claudia Gray, just like Katie said,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: this is ranked number two, right behind Layer Princess of Aldron.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: So yeah, highly recommended as a if you if you
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: are looking for a Valentine's gift for your Star Wars nerds,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: significant other Lost Stars would definitely be on that list. Now,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: it might be harder to find because it is a
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: ten year old book, but you know, maybe you can
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: find at least a paper back copy of it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and to those because I went to the doctor's
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: office today and two people asked for the why I
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: was in a Star Wars shirt and Marrow was in
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: a Star Wars shirt, and I was like, I host
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: a Star Wars podcast. We dressed in Star Wars shirts
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: on Wednesdays, like the entire time.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I need to do some laundry.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but no, like if you're here from those
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: recommendations at the doctor's office.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Hi, thanks for being.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: But which makes it more pathetic when they're thwarted by
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: their backup cameras getting destroyed but want to be charged. Sorry.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: That'll be it for the review and for the podcast. Guys.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Remember if you would like to follow me and or
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: the show, we are going to be more active over
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: on threads, Blue Sky and Instagram. Search fanboy Clay over
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: on Instagram, uh and Blue Sky and you can find me.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Of course, you can always search for Star Wars Alliance
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: No A in Wars very important, don't forget it. That's
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: s T A r w R S Alliance on Blue
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Sky and Instagram. Instagram is immediately Instagram created threads, like
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: immediately when I created or when we created the Instagram account.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: So if you're looking for us on threads, we will
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: be there. But yeah, Katie, what about.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: You, y'all? You can find me on most social media platforms.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: It's at place of Katie. I am no longer on Twitter.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Twitter decided to lock me out and I deleted it completely.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Off my phone, so sorry, guys. I love you guys.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Can we move off Twitter for the group chat please?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: I have seen that Instagram does group chats. The only
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: thing is that like links are weird. Yeah, But other
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: than that, I think Instagram would be good. But you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: again that's totally updated.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: I saw Snell had made an Instagram profile, so you know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: maybe he's getting there. But if you're on any of
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: the other social media platforms that we've mentioned, blue Sky Threads, Instagram, uh,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: that is where I am most of the time, if
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: I'm on social media at all. But as always, I
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: will get back to you guys. I still never message
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: mynck manner from last week.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Shit.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: I promise I'll get back to you guys eventually. With that, guys,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: I want to wish everyone a great day or night,
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: whatever time and day you're listening or watching, and we
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: will see y'all next time. If you've been here in
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: the chat, thank you for participating. We love you guys
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: as always. May the Force be with you.
