- 1:16We might get a little spicy tonight.
- 1:17Who knows? We'll try to get this terrible
- 1:19clay. A little bit of trouble, not too
- 1:21much trouble though. Just a little bit of trouble.
- 1:23But as you can see, we do have a guest with us this evening, but
- 1:27I'll introduce our returning guests are forever guests for
- 1:32another night with me. Sir Lucius.
- 1:34How are you tonight? Sir?
- 1:36I am outstanding. As always.
- 1:38I mean doesn't get much better then give me back my life right
- 1:42now. So I'm good.
- 1:43I like it. Clyde.
- 1:46You're looking like you're Maxin.
- 1:47Relaxin. I'm trying.
- 1:52It's the West Coast. That's what we always trying to
- 1:54do. Right?
- 1:55Something like that. Sounds like that.
- 1:59Lamar. Three dots puffins.
- 2:01Okay, I get it. Well, that took a second
- 2:02surgery. It was reading it like three
- 2:05times. Like I don't get it, would
- 2:08Horrible, I swear I'm a I was a jumpsuit transfer.
- 2:13I see it seems like it's casual Friday.
- 2:15I mean sir lucious has on a t-shirt for the first time ever.
- 2:19We'll see. So you have to read the T-shirt
- 2:21since you go ahead joke, we can't and I don't have a joke.
- 2:24Okay says is celebrating 50 years of women's Athletics at
- 2:27the University of Florida, sir. Well, you know, I wasn't
- 2:42So what he got? He got his shirt open.
- 2:44Got taco, meat out, no time. First of all, there's no meat at
- 2:50all. And secondly, I can sit here
- 2:53shirt list and I'm still going to be 2 GQ 1 in this Arena.
- 2:58He careful now so okay. Wow, I will let them know.
- 3:06Hey now, hey, that white suit that why?
- 3:09So cold. As you said, it was cocaine
- 3:14white, right? Okay, white.
- 3:19Okay, I'm taking notes so he can bring that he could bring that
- 3:23out here. Any day.
- 3:24I would love we would all love to see that.
- 3:27Now. I'm not coming out to see if he
- 3:29was sure. So last but not least, if you
- 3:45haven't realized who we have as a guest today, mr.
- 3:49Will play their 1002. Things that I can stay past your
- 3:53name, but I will let you reveal how you want to introduce
- 3:56yourself. So if you don't mind, let the
- 3:59audience know who you are, if they don't know already.
- 4:03Yeah, I feel like you gave me a smoothie introduction, but we'll
- 4:10clay. I'm from Phoenix Arizona.
- 4:14Went to the University of Oklahoma and University of
- 4:17Florida and I'm a long jumper and triple jumper.
- 4:22I'm an artist. I'm a husband.
- 4:27Yeah, just to name a few things. You know, that's that.
- 4:32Test me and an issue. I love that.
- 4:38I'm going to pick this out. That you said, you're a long
- 4:40drunk and a triple jumper is in my head.
- 4:43It would have been triple jumper and a long jumper in my head.
- 4:46Yeah, but but nonetheless, that's why I wanted you to say
- 4:51what you were, or who you were because we all have these
- 4:56Pictures of what you are, and who you really are, is what you
- 5:00like, right? Hurt your job.
- 5:02Can we be clear? Can we be clear?
- 5:04Because we love will to choose soft pedal, that and will be in
- 5:09his humble self. Soft-pedal that as well.
- 5:11So Lamar, can you give that? That man, a proper introduction,
- 5:16please? I will be happy to.
- 5:19Well. First of all, he is not an
- 5:21artist. He is a platinum recording
- 5:25artist. And he's not just a jumper.
- 5:28He is one of probably the top three combo jumpers in the
- 5:33history of this planet. I think that's probably a little
- 5:37bit better than getting into it. We could do better.
- 5:41But that's the subtlety. That's that I got left because I
- 5:45know Wills not really the guy that like wants all the bright
- 5:47light, but at the end of the day and Lucius Gator Legend, well,
- 5:52absolutely. I mean, he's definitely a gator,
- 5:54great, you know, even even, you know, the thing about will, it
- 5:58wasn't just like will came here to be a part of something
- 6:02special and it wasn't just about, will he wanted to For the
- 6:06team, he was a leader. He stayed on everybody distance
- 6:10Runners. It didn't matter, you know, so
- 6:13so he was a he was an incredible teammate like some of my best
- 6:16memories are watching will run around the infield.
- 6:20Why Tony was running around the track?
- 6:22Those kind of things. What are you doing?
- 6:31Yeah, no, he was the consummate teammate and we really
- 6:35appreciate it that we do great leader grade.
- 6:39There you go. Stereo in Florida Gainesville,
- 6:44some of my best days just in life just being on that team and
- 6:49being in that atmosphere was it was like no other.
- 6:54I think it definitely was a integral part of just me being
- 6:59turning into a man. Honestly.
- 7:02I felt like I didn't feel like I got to college really until I
- 7:07got the games with you. I feel like that was when I
- 7:10really was like, oh dang, I got it.
- 7:13I got to man up. I'm around a whole bunch of
- 7:18athletes that are On the same type of time that I won't and
- 7:23they all want to be great and I'm coming in and and I want to
- 7:28be great. But hey everybody on the team is
- 7:31good everybody. Yeah, it definitely just gave me
- 7:37a different, a different focus. It was not just on myself.
- 7:41It was just you know, I want to you said, you want to be great
- 7:45as well. So that's let's push each other.
- 7:47Let's hold each other accountable and I think that
- 7:50Just helped me to grow as a man. So, so a man and we all know
- 7:56this, but we ain't we're not the audience, right?
- 8:00I feel like Wills age is in this sweet spot where it's like, his
- 8:05career is appreciated, by the people who choose to pay
- 8:08attention. And also a lot of it is
- 8:11misunderstood by the by the Casual fans.
- 8:14So like since we're talking about Gainesville, who was this,
- 8:17who are you on the team with engagement?
- 8:19Because that was the most ridiculous collection of jump
- 8:22Talent at One time. So I was on the team.
- 8:27It was it was the most ridiculous Collective from top
- 8:31to bottom. We had he start with the jumps.
- 8:35We had. Christian Taylor.
- 8:37Omar credit myself. We had Frankie Hammett who he
- 8:44went. He went to the NFL as well.
- 8:47The Sprint's we had Jeff damps, Chris Rainey to rail Wilkes.
- 8:54Leonardo's. See you more.
- 8:56We had Tony McCoy. We had a we had William when we
- 9:03had steep as onek. We had a come on Messick.
- 9:10We had a man. He's a distance from from
- 9:18Africa. Skipping.
- 9:20His name was Palo Duro. Me.
- 9:23We had me. Do me.
- 9:27We had cow Miss Smith. Ocala wasn't on that team.
- 9:35Wasn't Cowboy, isn't there, right?
- 9:36It was Kevin Kelly was he was supposed to be Hey, Eddie, love
- 9:45it. We had Eddie love it.
- 9:51Would you see if you see my point to?
- 9:53I like how you have will Christian and Omar on the same
- 9:57jump squat? At the same time.
- 9:59There's something in the rules that says that's illegal
- 10:14shot. Put 60, 60 hurdles, the 200 and
- 10:20he scored 98 Mile and was second in the fourth and only reason
- 10:24they didn't win the for because karani James Beattie.
- 10:28Yeah. That it was just like you said,
- 10:29it was just one of them. We just walked in there and just
- 10:33was magical, but I gave. But again, it was like one of
- 10:35those teams where I have a problem speaking.
- 10:39My mind before Championship is Will can attest to but I didn't
- 10:44have to say much on that there was kind of like, okay, they're
- 10:48like coach we got this because Trill Wilkes was honestly the
- 10:50biggest leader on that group, you know, like Terrell was the
- 10:54voice of that team and it was a loud voice.
- 10:56If you I mean there was a guy named Blake he read on that team
- 10:59every Blake and and Trail got him a couple of times.
- 11:04You know, he's like hey, do you know this is not what we do
- 11:06here, so, Yeah. Super talented.
- 11:11Super talented is funny because I we used to talk about Omar a
- 11:16lot. Right?
- 11:18Like Omar's will Superstar. And Omar was without question.
- 11:25The third Beetle on that team. Right?
- 11:29Right. You couldn't convince Omar of
- 11:31it, which is, which is why he survived, because if you didn't
- 11:34have Omar's personality, there's no chance.
- 11:36You could be, you could survive being on that in that jumps
- 11:40group with those two other dudes.
- 11:43But because Omar is, who Omar is right, like, he was perfectly
- 11:46fine, but I used to always say like this, dude could jump 1750
- 11:50and still get third. The crazy thing about it is Omar
- 11:56used to destroy me at practice like when we would jump like,
- 12:03oh, because he was so strong and we will be doing sort of post
- 12:07jumps in like me. I need some speed.
- 12:10Oh my God, damn it. And I'm like and we had this
- 12:17thing called moved to shoot because booby like Moodle shoot.
- 12:21You got to show you guys so you got to shoot y'all go grab your
- 12:24shoe and put it beside the pit. So Christian go boom.
- 12:28He said as he said his shoe right there, I go.
- 12:31Boom. I said my shoe right there.
- 12:33Oh my God, Boone said his suit, my turn again.
- 12:35I move my shoe past everybody else's boom and it just kept
- 12:38going and then it's just, it's just like, oh, oh, oh my God.
- 12:42Put it out there like and and and I think that kept us honest.
- 12:50It kept us going like it wasn't no days where anybody can really
- 12:54like because we all were just, we know one to lose and we all
- 13:00were just like man, like if I'm not on it, he's gonna bust.
- 13:03He gonna bust me today, you know, and that was what
- 13:06everything whether we were doing, stadiums, kill, sand
- 13:09jumping, you know, running flying 100's it.
- 13:13It was with all that I was getting ready to say.
- 13:15It wasn't just in the jump it and for the rest of the squad,
- 13:19like no, that was when the jump runways were against the wall.
- 13:23So, for me, for practice purposes, I wanted to win to be
- 13:26going the opposite direction so they would be at the other end
- 13:29of the track doing this because if they were down by the Finish
- 13:32Line, everybody stop to watch. So I'm like can we do some black
- 13:36guards please and put watch him, he's doing so but it but it but
- 13:41it was just such an Energy, you know like that.
- 13:44My question for you is sometimes it's something that gets lost a
- 13:49lot is The Great Battle of your Christian ways to 2011.
- 13:53You're in the middle of that right at the NCAA championships.
- 13:56It's like so like just talk to me what's going through your
- 13:58mind during that, you know, it was as a coach, it was an
- 14:01incredible thing to watch. You know, how she was better
- 14:04because you guys were on my team, right?
- 14:06But you were so tell me what you, what you were feeling
- 14:10during that time. Me and honestly, I felt like
- 14:14going into it. I knew I was ready and I know
- 14:17Christian was ready. And I knew that Christian was.
- 14:25I knew he was slow playing me a little bit.
- 14:29I know he was kind of slow playing me, like I'm not going
- 14:32to really push it that much. I practice because I know I'm
- 14:36ready. And so my eye cool.
- 14:38All right, so we get the jump in a no Christian he's going.
- 14:41He just If you put it out there, he gonna go.
- 14:43It's right. Where we put our first jump out
- 14:46there and I'm like, oh, I'm on today, like, come on.
- 14:50So I go, boom, Kristen come behind me.
- 14:52Boom. All right, cool, my time.
- 14:54And it was, it was just like a Tit for Tat, Tit for Tat, Tit
- 14:58for Tat, and I was just like, wow, like we just took it to a
- 15:02level where we neither of us knew.
- 15:04We were going to jump that far, you know, I'm looking up and I'm
- 15:08looking at the bottom like thing.
- 15:08Now, we're jumping 58 feet like, We didn't ever think we're going
- 15:13to jump that far. And so, it was really in a I
- 15:16appreciated it so much because he brought it out.
- 15:20And, and I know that I brought it out of him at the.
- 15:24So, obviously, we knew as far as the team, we knew we was going
- 15:28to get those points for the team.
- 15:30And it was just for us on the runway.
- 15:32It was just like, well, who's gonna who's gonna take it out,
- 15:35who's gonna get it, you know, and it was just, It also showed
- 15:41us that we were. We were ready to go and compete
- 15:47against the, the guys that we watch on TV and guys, that were
- 15:51jumping in Europe and stuff like that.
- 15:53But, oh, yeah, okay, we can do this together here right now.
- 15:56We can do this anywhere in the world and we can take this show
- 15:59on the road. That's, that was kind of how we
- 16:01felt, you know, going from there, but it was, it was just a
- 16:04special moment that we both. We both brought ourselves
- 16:07outside of our bodies, you know, outside or outside of our minds,
- 16:10I should say. And from there on the sky was
- 16:14the limit. Yeah, well, you know that's
- 16:18that's that's really interesting for me as a fan of these events
- 16:23and somebody who's watched you guys collegiately and then
- 16:27throughout, you know, the transition of both of your
- 16:30careers, which obviously has been spectacular.
- 16:34That's obviously the embassy of this, you know, career long
- 16:38battle that you two have had. What is that rivalry meant to
- 16:42you because it's rare. Like you guys are at the same
- 16:47place at the height of your powers for all this time.
- 16:49It's been y'all show, its that's probably been.
- 16:55One of the biggest blessings honestly, for my career.
- 16:59You know, I could I could even speak on high school when I was
- 17:02gon die. Stadt and I see Christian jump
- 17:0552 to. And I'm like, all right.
- 17:07Well, I got to jump further than that, you know, I gotta go 52
- 17:11for and then know he come back. I know he's looking.
- 17:14So we come back. He got 50 to 60 and then, you
- 17:18know, we take that into we take that into college.
- 17:21I remember my freshman year at Oklahoma.
- 17:25Yeah, it was both our freshman Years and we're at Texas A&M
- 17:31indoors and I was our first time meeting each other.
- 17:35We never met each other until that we never saw each other
- 17:38person until this moment when we jump in against each other at
- 17:41Nationals. And so it just was like seeing
- 17:45like, Like the unreal purse. Like this dude is is do is
- 17:51really real like that. That's Christian.
- 17:53Alright, like dang man. I've been competing against you
- 17:57for all this time. And I now I'm finally seeing you
- 17:59in person and it's just, it's just cold or like to be going
- 18:02through this with you not feel like we're gonna bring it.
- 18:05We don't bring the best out of each other.
- 18:06And that was the conversation that we had and it was just it
- 18:11was just a Like right away, it was mutual respect, you know,
- 18:17and it was the same thing for Omar to.
- 18:18I remember the first time I jump to get, so more in at a younger
- 18:22age. I think I might have been a
- 18:23sophomore in high school. And, you know, I was on the
- 18:27track team that didn't we didn't really have much money and suit,
- 18:31I would go to a tracking with a white t own and some some grey
- 18:35sweats. And so I go to this meat and I'm
- 18:39like dang, who is this buff dude with what all this gyro like he
- 18:44had braids yabbies and his Braves and he had the whole like
- 18:48jumps Corp, everything is branded and he's just as looking
- 18:52like a professional my tank. Is this dude?
- 18:55Like he's about to kill me like he on another level so we get
- 19:01the jump and jump and jump in and I'm like, dang, he put that
- 19:03pressure on me and I ended up, I ended up beating him, but I was
- 19:06like, man. Man, like he's in a different.
- 19:08He's in a different League like within track of feel like I'm
- 19:11just out here, just having fun with it.
- 19:14He's for real because that was kind of the first time I got,
- 19:19you know, in contact with Omar from there.
- 19:23We just became tight to and it translated to when we got to
- 19:28Florida to where it's like dang it.
- 19:30We actually all ended up on the same team.
- 19:34It's a wrap, we taking over the hole.
- 19:36Taking over the whole game. And that's, that's kind of how,
- 19:39you know, we even on my visit and I took my visit.
- 19:42There was just like, I mean, where else would there be two to
- 19:45be? Where else with it?
- 19:46Is there to go? You know, like this is where you
- 19:50got to be. I mean coach Booth is here.
- 19:52You guys are here. We just don't take over the
- 19:55whole world. That's kind of how a many all
- 19:58did I used to? I used to accuse Mouse of
- 20:05assembling The Avengers. He still does it.
- 20:11Hey, stop stop. So I have a question.
- 20:13So, you know, obviously being around you.
- 20:16I've always knew of your love for music, but you never let on
- 20:20to me that that was your a passion of yours that you want
- 20:23to pursue producing your own stuff.
- 20:25So, Tell me about that a little bit, because I know I was like
- 20:28many, oh, and I was listen. I'm like, that's will right?
- 20:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:35I think it took me gaining confidence.
- 20:37I think it took me gaining confidence in myself to, to
- 20:42really do it in a way that because I would always make
- 20:45music, and I was just hold, our hold on to it, and I was just
- 20:49listen to it, maybe a few friends, like, even me a home
- 20:52where we live together. We will make songs at the house,
- 20:54but we never like me, just never told Anybody about it?
- 20:58And so you know as the years went on and on and I did it more
- 21:01and I just I got more reps at it and I felt like I was at a place
- 21:06to where all right now, I think people can digest this the right
- 21:10way and because I know a lot of athletes have as a hobby just
- 21:18tried to do that and it just it's just like that's like no
- 21:23stick to him saying what you doing with your support.
- 21:27Like, Shaq, Kobe, Carl Lewis. Like,
- 21:43if you haven't seen the Carl Lewis music video.
- 21:46Oh my God. You go Google.
- 21:47That is Wills fault. Yeah.
- 21:58And so I'm like, I'm not putting this out, you know, and as I was
- 22:04able to like even I think after I was out of school and I just
- 22:09have more time like I'm not a I'm not a big, I don't like type
- 22:13video games and I just didn't really I wasn't doing anything.
- 22:18So I was just so I was like, well sure I got time now.
- 22:21I'm not at school. So then I start to record a lot
- 22:24more and that was kind of just a great for me.
- 22:27To get away and then and just you know, just switch my energy
- 22:31off. And so at that point is when I
- 22:34was like, all right. Now, I'm at a point where I put
- 22:36this music out there and that was that was kind of round 2013
- 22:412012. I'm not gonna lie.
- 22:45I think I can own this. Like, like I believe most people
- 22:49should years ago when I first heard.
- 22:53Oh, you here will got album. Like really is that what we're
- 22:56doing now? Like come on, but then I heard
- 22:59it and I'm like, actually that boy's good.
- 23:03Yeah, it was crazy for me because, you know, I'm a West
- 23:06Coast baby and your sound is very West Coast.
- 23:10So I appreciate it at a different level just because,
- 23:13you know, You know, that's a vibe that we have.
- 23:16So for like, when you really started to realize, like okay, I
- 23:20can do this just as well as I can.
- 23:23Do, you know my profession, you know, in protract like you got
- 23:28coaches in athletics, who are your like main influences that
- 23:33helped you, you know, crystallized your sound and kind
- 23:38of dial in like, you know how that all played out.
- 23:42Um, Man, I would say, firstly it was it was yg?
- 23:49Yg was like the first person to really bring into the studio DJ
- 23:54Mustard. Ty$, you know, on just that
- 23:57whole can't really just brought me in and, and, and just help me
- 24:02just not even by doing anything, but just by letting me be in a
- 24:05room and just seeing the process.
- 24:09And then from there, just Whenever I had time, I would
- 24:13just go to La and getting getting in studio sessions.
- 24:16I got be in studio with Juicy J, man.
- 24:24It's another it's this this other do was named Eric.
- 24:27He, he wrote Derek Milano. He wrote a lot of records for
- 24:30Beyonce and made stallion stuff like that.
- 24:33And just being in a studio with these type of people and seeing
- 24:37the process of my old hanging like, okay, like, you know, I
- 24:40just kind of you Take from that and put it in my own toolbox.
- 24:44And it really helped me. It helped me tremendously, and
- 24:47then obviously, like a lot of my good friends.
- 24:50They are artists to like one of my friends.
- 24:52He signed to Interscope another my, another one of my boys here
- 24:56apps to. So like just Being in in close
- 25:01proximity with them, you know, and they all they all West Coast
- 25:04guys. So like it's only gonna rub off
- 25:07on me and so from there. I just you know, I just felt
- 25:10like I was able to build my own sound in my own person just from
- 25:16from that and I want like because a lot of people probably
- 25:20still are just coming onto the fact that your music is out
- 25:24there, like go, listen to it. Like that's the thing that I
- 25:26appreciate you. Do have your own sap.
- 25:29I, when I hear you, I don't hear like, oh, he trying to do like
- 25:32this person. Like you have a very unique
- 25:34sound and it's skills. So I you know, amen, props.
- 25:37I like, I love it. I appreciate it.
- 25:43I'm working a lot of work into it and it's definitely a very
- 25:48tedious tedious day, similar, triple jump, you know, it's very
- 25:51tedious and you got to kind of just master master it and get
- 25:57your reps in. You know, it's just takes a lot
- 25:59of a lot of just doing it over and over and over and over and
- 26:03over and you get more comfortable with the SS as you
- 26:05go, so I want to jump in here and ask.
- 26:12Probably a question every every jumper or jumps.
- 26:14Coach. You watches this.
- 26:15It's got would want me to ask which is you have done.
- 26:19Just about everything. So what what's left on the goal
- 26:23sheet? I don't feel like I've done
- 26:28everything. I feel like I feel like the
- 26:34world record is what I want. God.
- 26:37I'm glad to hear you say that. I don't want to.
- 26:42I don't want to put it in reach. For for a while.
- 26:49I want to, I want to put it out there and then I live in Olympic
- 26:55gold medal that would that would definitely sealed the deal for
- 26:59me as far as things that I want for myself from from the sport.
- 27:05And then from there, you know, it's just pushing the event
- 27:09forward. You know, I think I think it's
- 27:12there's no limit to it. You know who would have thought
- 27:15Bobby was? I'll do what he did.
- 27:17And then once he did, you saw where it continued to go from
- 27:21there? So I just want to figure out
- 27:25different ways to push the envelope.
- 27:29Because there's, there's, there's these I think there's
- 27:34these, like, boxes that we can that we put athletes in and in
- 27:42events in and we, and we say, you know, This is the peak of
- 27:48it. This is his first as far as you
- 27:49can go. And then you got somebody like
- 27:52Karsten more home. Go out there and run, 45 seconds
- 27:55in the forehead hurts, you know, I mean, like, and we were like,
- 27:59no, we never thought he was ever gonna do that and then he did.
- 28:02And then you got ride right behind him.
- 28:05And now Raj, probably going to come out next year and roughly
- 28:07five seconds, you know, I mean and then the next guys gonna do
- 28:10it. And so I just, I just want to
- 28:13figure out just different ways to, to get better for myself and
- 28:18to show the next jumpers, like, hey, you know, they're there is
- 28:23possible. It's possible to really take it
- 28:26there and, you know, maybe it maybe switching up things like,
- 28:30as far as technique and and try and just try new things, baby.
- 28:35Maybe I need a bigger hot. Maybe I need a bigger step just
- 28:38figuring out. You know, how I can take it
- 28:41there. I would I would take heat if I
- 28:45didn't give you an opportunity to do what I'm always accused of
- 28:49and ask you a petty softball question.
- 28:52So sir, the final three go trash trash but as a professional
- 29:04jumper explain why we know why but crystallized it for the
- 29:10people that still are defending this and don't get So I just
- 29:15don't, I don't see how you can for one.
- 29:18If you're in the final three already.
- 29:21You're probably you're probably not going to jump further one
- 29:25because your time your time frame that you have to recover
- 29:29his just shrunk. So my so much for one and
- 29:36there's they don't give you any time period in between, so
- 29:39that's alright, you not knowing shopping further, the last
- 29:41round. and then before, that is just You never know what someone
- 29:50can put together on their last jump, you know, we've seen it
- 29:54time and time again and then and then you can you can get to your
- 30:00last jump and have the furthest jump in the competition and
- 30:03still not win. Because the last jump that
- 30:08someone had was was further not counting.
- 30:12None of the five jumps before that.
- 30:14We just going to count this last jump.
- 30:16I just don't, I don't understand.
- 30:20I don't I don't know who came up with it and I just don't
- 30:22understand how it was a decathlete.
- 30:24What? Yeah, okay.
- 30:26Okay. Huff's crew came up with that.
- 30:29Oh, definitely, not me. Tell you how I feel.
- 30:37Oh no. No, we feel the same.
- 30:40So we also the same 10 you? Yes.
- 30:43Yeah. I like it.
- 30:45You know, it takes away from our vent.
- 30:49You know, it just it just really takes away wide toilet our
- 30:53event, you know, I think this era has been arguably the best
- 31:02generation of the triple jump, you know, of all time as far as
- 31:06the amount of jumpers that are hidden certain marks and so wide
- 31:13toy with it, you know, we I feel like we've been doing a good job
- 31:16of what we've had before. I don't reason what all what
- 31:25almost happened that would have. I think Force this nonsense to
- 31:29the Forefront and got rid of it. Was the meat that Rojas broke
- 31:35the world record all her last jump.
- 31:38If she would have found she wouldn't have one.
- 31:41Right? Yeah, and and that would have
- 31:43been perfect. Right?
- 31:45Yeah, that one almost wanted her to foul that jump just to make a
- 31:50point. I mean, actually, I
- 31:52unfortunately I did too and the thing is because she knew where
- 31:56she was at and knew what the adrenaline piece was that like
- 31:59she backed up like two feet and took off off the back edge of
- 32:01the board. Like If you had no intention on
- 32:04engaging with the board and that is like, right when krauser
- 32:08through, from basic the back of the Ring, because it's like, I'm
- 32:11not about to lose this money, over this stupid rule.
- 32:13Like that should tell you that the rule is stupid, right?
- 32:17When you come the best people are like, nah, I'm not engaging
- 32:20in this because this is dumb. That should tell you is dumb.
- 32:23Yeah, I agree. I agree, you know, look, I love
- 32:31will play the triple jump. But I will say this.
- 32:36Your pursuit of greatness in the triple jump has been awesome to
- 32:40watch, but I think we will all agree.
- 32:42It has stolen will clay. The 890 long jumper from us,
- 32:46though. You can't argue with that one.
- 32:56Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:58Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:59Yeah, because you can jump eight, you can jump 8:30, you
- 33:02can jump. What you've jumped in
- 33:04combination. Yeah, but in order to be 88, 88
- 33:0890 guy, you would probably have to stop triple jumping and
- 33:11obviously, that's never going to happen.
- 33:13Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:14Yeah. You're right.
- 33:15You're right. And I and I think I think it
- 33:20just took away from me doing like more speed work, which I
- 33:24think would have definitely helped me to get there you
- 33:27right? Definitely you know, what?
- 33:29That's interesting. Good question, sir.
- 33:33So Is it the fact that you don't yet have the world record that
- 33:40you don't yet? Have the Olympic gold if you
- 33:43would have had both of or either one of those, would you have put
- 33:47the triple jump down and pursue the long exclusively?
- 33:53No. Blackwell's wife.
- 34:06No, she's not even his girlfriend.
- 34:08It's like she's a mistress or something.
- 34:10I don't know. See those sides by two rival.
- 34:14Exactly. You know, it's like that's not
- 34:16even in the conversation. I'll see that chick when I see
- 34:18you, right? I worry about it.
- 34:20Yeah, because it's Mario being around you and Christian like
- 34:24there was a gif there's a just a different day.
- 34:26We were at the compass me. This long jump day and there
- 34:29they come to the Tractor smiling and talking to everybody triple
- 34:32jump day. They get out will Got his hat or
- 34:36Christians walk around, you know, putting their marks down
- 34:39in total silence two different day.
- 34:42So, yeah, I mean, the lawn just kind of, you know, hang out with
- 34:45the family, you know, get a little something to eat.
- 34:48Triple jumps like a country bother me.
- 34:49Boy. I got work to do all this.
- 34:56I have a question for you. Actually, I knowing that.
- 35:01What you said about building the sport building the event.
- 35:03What not. Do you think you will further
- 35:05your career into the coaching side?
- 35:16I have a lot of respect for y'all because y'all have a lot
- 35:18of patience. Just answer the question.
- 35:44His demeanor, we know he has a great heart, but you don't tell
- 35:47you how it is, and he snaps at you, and he's like No Nonsense,
- 35:50right? You can do that.
- 35:53But like you said, it does. It does take a special heart.
- 35:57You coach. Yeah, I could see myself
- 36:00coaching, like, June. You like kids.
- 36:04I do see that. I think I would enjoy that.
- 36:07Like, young kids for sure, when they're still nice.
- 36:11Yeah. Thanks for lower.
- 36:20You know, you don't know everything yet.
- 36:23You know, you're not you're not worried about going going to
- 36:28this school and trying this uniform on, you know, you just
- 36:32it's different. I think.
- 36:35Yeah, I think that's that's mine.
- 36:38That's that's my speed. Well, I want to change lanes a
- 36:43little bit. You are a huge inspiration to a
- 36:46huge loss to a very large number of people for a lot of reasons,
- 36:50but I think most recently one of the greatest Inspirations you
- 36:53are, it's is coming back from what many people probably
- 36:57thought were career-threatening or debilitating type injury, I
- 37:02guess for the sake of our audience.
- 37:04Just take us take us through the come back.
- 37:09Man, that was those were some of the hardest days of my life.
- 37:14Honestly, you know, I I've had, I've had injuries before I had a
- 37:19I had a really bad back, injury had a stress fracture in my back
- 37:24and you know, in the midst of that was when coach Holloway
- 37:30still believed that I could still do it and he gave me a
- 37:35scholarship in At Florida was when I was able to build back,
- 37:39you know, and that was tough. It was tough to bounce back from
- 37:43that. But you know this, this was just
- 37:46on another level, you know, I I was I was fighting the Demons of
- 37:52like what you said this being a career-ending injury, you know?
- 38:02Doctors telling me. Oh, well Troopers up is like the
- 38:05hardest that's going to be the hardest thing.
- 38:07Possibly the hardest thing you could possibly do with this type
- 38:10of injury, and I'm just like I got a black, all of that out.
- 38:16Like, I'm going to make this happen.
- 38:18And so it was just an everyday was an everyday battle.
- 38:21You know, I had to get up, you know, I was going to, I found
- 38:25one of the doctors that was working with Kobe for his, his
- 38:29Achilles. He was in Orange County.
- 38:31So I would get up and I was driving an Orange County like
- 38:34every other day meeting with him.
- 38:37And at this point, I couldn't, I couldn't walk yet.
- 38:40I'm still in crutches in the boot and It just I had to
- 38:45battle. I had to battle it constantly.
- 38:47Like if I was going to be able to make it back, you know until
- 38:51until the first day that I was able to jog was when I was like,
- 38:55oh it's yeah, I'm gonna do it and but that wasn't probably for
- 38:59like three three months, you know later and so I spent a lot
- 39:11of time like just by myself. I was reading a lot.
- 39:16I was just trying to do any little exercise that I could
- 39:19possibly do at any moment because I didn't want to ever
- 39:22let anything get away from me. If I was up, I was if I was
- 39:25awake. I was trying to do something
- 39:27whether I'm picking up marbles for my feet or I'm just like
- 39:30flexing my foot up and down. I'm calling Eric.
- 39:32Renard, because he had, he had his Achilles injury.
- 39:35I'm like, man. What were you doing?
- 39:37What can I do? I'm hitting Mota's barsoom.
- 39:39He had he had an ankle injury. You doing Trayvon male?
- 39:42I'm calling everybody like what were you doing?
- 39:45I need to do anything that I possibly can.
- 39:47Because at this time, the Olympics was still in 2020.
- 39:53Now I was like, I'm about to make it.
- 39:55I'm not the this is going to be a huge testimony like God is
- 40:00going to 22. He's going to use me in a way
- 40:05that has never been seen before. So I'm like, I'm about to do it
- 40:09and then, you know, it gets into everything ends up getting
- 40:12pushback between 21. So I'm like, alright, cool.
- 40:16I got time now. So at that point, you would have
- 40:21thought I would relax, but I went into overdrive because I'm
- 40:24like now I can really, really get sharp.
- 40:26They done messed up and gave me time to get sharp.
- 40:29And it just, it was a thing. We're even like the people
- 40:32around me, coach Fisher. Chiropractor, like, I'm telling
- 40:35everybody they try to slow me down.
- 40:37Like no, I need to go. I'm good.
- 40:40I'm not feeling any pain. Like let me do more more, and
- 40:44more more. And, you know, they had the kind
- 40:47of like, subdue me a little bit and You know, I just I feel like
- 40:54to be able to come back and jump at USA's when you essays and and
- 41:00to go to the Olympics, even though it I was very
- 41:03disappointed, you know, in my performance, you know, I feel
- 41:06like I should have jumped a lot better but it just showed me
- 41:12that I can push through, you know, and I can and I can make
- 41:16it through something like that. And you know, I feel like now
- 41:20going into this season, it gives me all the confidence.
- 41:22In the world because I don't have to go through that again.
- 41:24I can just start training just like I would any other you.
- 41:27So I think it has helped me to grow and in other way, you know,
- 41:35as an athlete and and just hasn't been honestly.
- 41:42The the the work and the results that you all have gotten down
- 41:48there in training camp San Diego, you know, run by Jeremy.
- 41:53It's really unprecedented. If you peel back and look at the
- 41:57medal counts, what is it about that environment?
- 42:02About that group about the way it's run?
- 42:04Like, what is it? That the people who aren't in
- 42:08there would never understand because like I said, it's
- 42:11consistent delivering, you know, Metals all the time and it no
- 42:17one else is doing it that way. I think.
- 42:20It's because that's the only emphasis is on Meadows.
- 42:23I think our training is only centered around Championship.
- 42:28Like we don't, it'll be some some years where I probably do
- 42:32like four to five meets, you know, and it's just like Like
- 42:36we're getting ready for USA's and championships.
- 42:38And I, and that's how are our training blocks are built and
- 42:44Coach Trish. And he'll tell you himself, you
- 42:46know, that he doesn't care about any means.
- 42:48But those two and sometimes it can be frustrating to me because
- 42:52sure, I want to go get money, you know, sometimes I just want
- 42:54to go Dominique meats and, you know, and jump well, rather than
- 42:58being in a hold and make some money.
- 43:01But you know, the money comes on the back end, you know.
- 43:05Get medals. So, you know, I feel like it's
- 43:10worked. It's definitely work, you know,
- 43:12for us and I just think being at the center.
- 43:18Obviously, you have everything you need with it when it comes
- 43:21to food, when it comes to physios trainers, doctors the
- 43:29weight room, you know, they've done a very good job with
- 43:33helping, you know, to put us in a Place to to be over the
- 43:36windows medals it if they spent all that money and we didn't win
- 43:39medals somebody's getting fired, you know, because it's a lot of
- 43:46money, they spending over there, you know, for us to be there.
- 43:49So, you know, I think it's only right that we come back with
- 43:52something. Amen to that.
- 44:01Thank you, sir, very much for that time.
- 44:04You're inside and all those words.
- 44:05Honestly, I think there's so many things that people learn
- 44:09just about you personally, and then just insight into
- 44:13specifically, the jumps, you know, that that you shine light
- 44:17on that isn't necessarily thought of every day.
- 44:19So we appreciate you for that. Definitely.
- 44:22No problem. No problem.
- 44:23I appreciate your having with a drop.
- 44:27I'm gonna put you on blast in front of everybody.
- 44:29I need to see you in April 1st. Let the floor relays bro.
- 44:32Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
- 44:41I hope the wind blows in the opposite direction as we were in
- 44:45really fast that way, right. We got to get rid of that.
- 45:08But dude, like literally sell out the blocks like literally
- 45:14crazy. Okay, so we're warming up and
- 45:17he's killing the acceleration, and the gun goes off.
- 45:21I think he thought he was doing a little hop out of the back of
- 45:23this approach. Fuck you, you're too big talking
- 45:32trash to the Chris rain and then you had no money down.
- 45:34See ya. Yeah, because, you know, yeah,
- 45:39you know, yeah, but if you did if you did ask you to start
- 45:43properly, you to read by miss it 60 instead of and and 95s.
- 45:48Okay, so we know to be on the lookout for will relays.
- 45:54Yes, Men, When is Is when the music dropping when can we
- 45:59expect more music? So I'm almost done.
- 46:04I'm almost done with this project.
- 46:05Usually my offseason is when you know, I get to really lock in
- 46:10so, you know that just ended and I think I'm probably 90% done
- 46:15with this project that I'm working on right now.
- 46:19So hopefully end of this year top of next year.
- 46:22And Yeah, it is. It's definitely going to just
- 46:29break down a lot of what I went through, you know, with my, with
- 46:32my whole, you know, Achilles injury and just coming back from
- 46:37that and just trying to use that to motivate the next person
- 46:40going through, whatever they're going through.
- 46:42So it'll, it'll definitely, it'll definitely be the best
- 46:47music. I put out.
- 46:48I can definitely say that I do. I'm using that's a mouse.
- 46:55Fish. Well, thank you so much for your
- 46:56time. Enjoy the rest of your evening,
- 46:58and we will definitely be looking for you on different
- 47:02platforms for different things. For sure.
- 47:04It got appreciate you. Appreciate.
- 47:06I have you appreciate a coach? I'm is always good to see you.
- 47:09Talk to you soon. 19 metres. Yes, sir.
- 47:15I know how he thinks 19. Metres.
- 47:19Yep. That's my lock code on my phone.
- 47:22So see, see that. Have a good night will.
- 47:29All right. No, thank you.
- 47:33All right. Wow.
- 47:36All right. Hold on.
- 47:37Can I can I just Fanboy for a second like cool.
- 47:41I don't know what to do with myself.
- 47:43I don't know. Dude my hands like that was
- 47:45amazing. The ones at me.
- 47:51That was amazing. I was cool though.
- 47:54Very cool. Very, very cool.
- 47:56Well well played by the EP roll playback.
- 48:00So, let's stir the pot gentleman.
- 48:08We'll go with the direct. The direct relation first, and
- 48:11then we'll go up. Wow, out a little bit, and get
- 48:14loose. There is a big drop by the US,
- 48:19TCC a NCAA. Whoever you want to attribute
- 48:22this to. But the delivery was on Twitter
- 48:25about division 2. And the way they are going to
- 48:29advance to championships. They are no longer going to have
- 48:33an auto qualifying work. They're going to go to a
- 48:35complete provisional list. Clyde, I'm going to ask you to
- 48:41speak first on it because you have direct experience process.
- 48:48Okay, so it's been it's been some time since I was in
- 48:53division two. When I was in division, two, if
- 48:58they would have dropped this information.
- 49:00The first thing out of my mouth would have been why?
- 49:04And how is that supposed to impact the selection of the meat
- 49:11and to my knowledge? They've left that part out of
- 49:15the announcement of the change. I don't on paper.
- 49:20I don't really care if you call it an automatic standard or a
- 49:24provisional. The problem with the dishes to
- 49:27and how they select the end who goes to endure Nationals, is
- 49:31it's not Equitable across the board at division one.
- 49:35You know what it is. It's top. 16, you're in, or
- 49:38you're out. No ambiguity, either.
- 49:41You number 16, or you're not in division two, there's always
- 49:45been this weird wiggle room that nobody really understands why or
- 49:48how. So, if you tell me that you're
- 49:51doing away with the with the ecus.
- 49:53I'm cool with that or but Are we also getting a hard number
- 49:59across the board for each event if they are.
- 50:02Then I'm all for it. Now.
- 50:04I don't really care. But if they're not it feels like
- 50:08there's more Room For Shenanigans and as everybody
- 50:12knows, I am not a fan of selections Shenanigans.
- 50:15From people who sit in offices. I want to know what it is to
- 50:18qualify, and let the kids go out there and decided on the track.
- 50:23The vision to has enough. Hurdles to clear, you know, they
- 50:29don't always have access to the proper tracks there to the best
- 50:32tracks. I should say.
- 50:33It's already difficult to qualify because of lack of
- 50:36access. So if this is meant to make it
- 50:39better for the kids great, but I need to know why they haven't
- 50:42explained that. Analytics.
- 50:48Follow up on that. All right.
- 50:51Yeah. I understand where you're coming
- 50:54from. It sounds to me like we could
- 50:56end up like The instea Division, 1 championship used to be where
- 51:00there might be 16 and incident and 12 in another and you know
- 51:04that kind of nonsense. And so I think that I don't know
- 51:07enough about it to really delve into it like when they in Clyde
- 51:10did but I will say that, let's hope for transparency sometime
- 51:15soon. And let's definitely definitely
- 51:17go. That it's a fair, Shake across
- 51:19the board so that you don't have the as you call the shenanigans.
- 51:22And I appreciate you saying that because I know you want to say
- 51:24something else. We have.
- 51:30Yeah, the I think I'm an end up labeling myself at some point
- 51:38time, is like a NCAA hater. I'm really not.
- 51:41I just, I cannot stand. I just cannot stand like over
- 51:48officious nonsense. That doesn't move the needle,
- 51:52right? This is an announcement of
- 51:53nothing because without the transparency and without the
- 51:57real Aunt, like look. How will get the top of the list
- 52:02is always going to be the same. Like the top of the list is
- 52:05always going to be what it is. But to Clyde's Point, like, if
- 52:09the list doesn't have a bottom, if the list doesn't have a hard
- 52:12cap number, we have a problem. Because unless it is equal
- 52:19opportunity in each event, to get to the National meet.
- 52:23We have moved backwards, not forwards.
- 52:26End of story. And I honestly, I haven't looked
- 52:32at provisional marks versus a queue marks in division 2
- 52:37because I haven't worked there and what seven, something years,
- 52:40right? But back when it was, when I was
- 52:43in there. What did, what was in a queue in
- 52:48the 60 and the 200 was dramatically different from a
- 52:52level of performance to what it was in the distances are in the
- 52:56jumps or whatever. So now that you took Taking the
- 52:59ecus out of there. Are there some kind of rational
- 53:02adjustments to what we're calling a provisional because
- 53:05again, it shouldn't be harder. Provisionally in one event
- 53:10versus the other either. So there's too many questions
- 53:14like that, that speaks to my question when it talked about
- 53:18all marks being provisional. Does that?
- 53:20Just mean there's going to be a list or does it mean in a
- 53:24certain Mark to beat and I'm saying so yeah, just to just too
- 53:27much. Uncertainty here.
- 53:29Because if they could just be speaking to the fact that
- 53:32they're all provisional marks, and then a certain number was in
- 53:35get it or they could just be speaking to the fact that we're
- 53:38going to give you a more this provisional more.
- 53:40If you give them a mark as I do, none of it makes any sense to me
- 53:45right now. I mean, I'm old enough
- 53:48competitively that my first, my freshman and sophomore year in
- 53:51college. There was one standard.
- 53:54Right, and to Clyde's point. The standards were never
- 54:00Equitable, right? Like what it, what it took to
- 54:04make. The NCAA me in the shot.
- 54:06Put was nothing like what it took it to made, make in the
- 54:09long jump, which was nothing like what it took to make it in
- 54:12the 60s. Like they just, they want
- 54:15Equitable. And so that you had these like,
- 54:17non commensurate numbers of people that would be at the
- 54:20national me and like, they were 11 men shop owners that made the
- 54:24national meet one year, but I think is my freshman year and
- 54:28there were like, 27 dudes that made the national meet in the
- 54:31long jump. And I was like, well, okay,
- 54:34clearly. The long jump standard is too
- 54:37easy or The shotput standard is way too hard.
- 54:42So they finally got rid of that because they the number they
- 54:46wanted a hard number and they went to basically eventually
- 54:50they got to what we have now where it's like, it's a number,
- 54:54it's a hard cap. That's it.
- 54:58But if you're going backwards by ways of how we're putting
- 55:02together this list, which is what they're doing.
- 55:04Like, I'm okay with that. But if you don't give us the
- 55:08rest of the information like okay, all all marks are
- 55:11basically going to go on a list, right?
- 55:13There is no automatic. So like they're all provisional,
- 55:16then the, the rest of the sentence that were not kidding
- 55:19is and the top blankety-blank make matching Elite, right?
- 55:23That's the part. We're not getting and as a
- 55:26person that used to sit in all the you know, the the meetings
- 55:30for division to at the alphabet camp.
- 55:34I'm like, I've I always used to ask this question, and listen,
- 55:38division. One is trust me.
- 55:40Not perfect. Okay, but division, 2 and
- 55:44division. Three do a lot of weird things
- 55:48that feel like they're just trying to be different
- 55:50sometimes. For the sake of being different.
- 55:53Exactly. Just to say it's different and
- 55:56on this particular issue D1, hasn't correct.
- 56:00So just do what they're doing. Pick a number.
- 56:03Tell everybody what the number is and then just go to the me.
- 56:07It's really not that hard and the fact that the one has such a
- 56:11cruel number, don't get it twisted. 16 is cruel because it
- 56:16is hard as hell to qualify for indoor Nationals at division
- 56:20one. That's what may hardest me to
- 56:22qualify for in the world in the world.
- 56:24But that's that standard being how it is is what is what makes
- 56:28that meat. So insane every single year.
- 56:31So the to you know, find some guts, pick a number and just
- 56:36make it simple all the coaches will appreciate it.
- 56:40I imagine So as the verbiage is stated on the release, there is
- 56:47no number, given they do list, the provisional numbers,
- 56:51standards prevent /, gender and that there's going to be
- 56:56conversions of altitude and event and truck sighs.
- 57:02I guess is that happened to it. So, The fact that they went out
- 57:08of their way to say, there's no number.
- 57:11Is like a big flashing? Red light for shenanigan?
- 57:13Yep, and I'm with it. Yeah, so it's I mean, Yeah, it
- 57:22doesn't look far off from what it was before fire, but it's
- 57:24been a while since I was in YouTube as well.
- 57:26So got it. Yeah, we'll have to sit back and
- 57:31see what happens with this one. This one, this one will be a fun
- 57:33ride for see happen. I'll be on the ground of thank
- 57:36you very much. So, so the wheels come off,
- 57:43football chaos. Yes.
- 57:45We're going to sit in some college Collegiate, football
- 57:47chaos, because the NFL then serve as much this week, so,
- 57:53Another football game. Cowboys did win.
- 57:56The planets are aligning shoes somewhere.
- 57:59What? Date is it?
- 58:01Oh my God. Today.
- 58:05It's not January. What is it like, week or week 3
- 58:10and with us? No, it's all the same it really
- 58:14week. Six.
- 58:14Oh my gosh. Yeah, it is maxixe.
- 58:17Wow. Holy crap, but you know, college
- 58:21football chaos. Where do we even start?
- 58:25Because on, and off the field? There's been a lot.
- 58:28I'm sorry. The best chaos is off the field
- 58:31this week. Can we turn off the field?
- 58:33Sure. We'll work our way back.
- 58:35You want where you want to Sir? Can we can we start with?
- 58:39The student body that clearly brought things to throw at Lane
- 58:46kiffin. And this was look as they were
- 58:51getting drunk and and preparing to bring things into the
- 58:55stadium. The thought was if we win we can
- 58:58throw stuff at him because he's a loser.
- 59:01If we're losing, we can throw stuff at him and act like we're
- 59:03angry fans. So either way, bring stuff to
- 59:06throw it, Lane kiffin, he dipped on us in the middle of the night
- 59:09to go to the Raiders screw Lane to Lane kiffin.
- 59:11We out man. Got hit the mega hit with a golf
- 59:15ball. He didn't actually get hit.
- 59:19Listen, we're not going to, we're not going to revise this
- 59:22history. The man got hit with a golf ball
- 59:26at a football game. Just let that wash over you.
- 59:29Listen, I think on this particular issue, you should
- 59:32defer to our SEC Legend because, you know, I'm at listen.
- 59:38I'm an SEC graduate, but lucious here is spent way more time in
- 59:44the SEC. They're not calling the old
- 59:46again. Okay, that's good.
- 59:48Then I have an all I can tell you is it?
- 59:51When I, when I transferred into the University of South
- 59:53Carolina. I had never seen.
- 59:59A fan base. So emotional over such a sorry
- 1:00:05football team as I did in South Carolina, but then my life took
- 1:00:11me to Knoxville, Tennessee. Some people that got no sense.
- 1:00:20Look, it was an amazing thing to look to watch on TV, but I can't
- 1:00:25explain it because, you know, so lucious.
- 1:00:29Well, I will give it a try. I don't think anyone that's ever
- 1:00:34been to that campus for any sporting event, and you weren't
- 1:00:38wearing those colors that gaudy Orange.
- 1:00:43If you not wearing those colors, you are the enemy.
- 1:00:47And there's make no bones about it.
- 1:00:51Right? I mean, like, I we've been
- 1:00:53through the airport in the baggage handlers of written
- 1:00:55stuff on our backs. That's how bad it is, right.
- 1:00:58This is just just Hollywood with her.
- 1:01:00Do they in? And look, they don't hear
- 1:01:03whether you like it or not. They are who they are and
- 1:01:06they're proud of who they are. But then you take this guy, the
- 1:01:09snuck away from them in the middle of the night.
- 1:01:11Basically, you know, gave a middle finger.
- 1:01:13Of course. They were.
- 1:01:14I mean, I'm surprised that the security wouldn't be Up that
- 1:01:18there wasn't, you know, because like Lamar said, no matter what
- 1:01:21happened. They could have won that game by
- 1:01:2350 points. He was guilty, getting pelted.
- 1:01:26Thank, you know, ways around that.
- 1:01:29So my disappointment here, obviously very disappointed in
- 1:01:31the face. Like that was very low rent.
- 1:01:33No, classroom want to call it, but I'm more disappointed in the
- 1:01:36administration in the security folks because they had to know.
- 1:01:42Because the X I said, anybody that's been as a visiting team
- 1:01:45in any sport. They do not care.
- 1:01:50You know, I mean there was a full-blown Riot when when he
- 1:01:55left. Yep.
- 1:01:58I'm like it's a football coach and they weren't any good.
- 1:02:02Like it's all right, it's cool. But no, imagine they were good
- 1:02:09right unforgiving. They they are very passionate
- 1:02:18about this sport it. Rasputin is very passionate
- 1:02:22about as as we witness. So was, I surprised.
- 1:02:27Yeah. Meanwhile, what me was?
- 1:02:29I was, that was, I surprised? Yeah, but I wasn't shocked, you
- 1:02:33know, like I wasn't like, oh my God, I can't believe they did
- 1:02:35that. I'm surprised they got away with
- 1:02:37it for as long as they did. You know, I've always thought
- 1:02:40that was, that's it right there. 14:12, 20 minutes.
- 1:02:49But it did that not surprised. I'm surprised if game started.
- 1:02:56Yeah, well got lost in all that is you know a game that started
- 1:03:00off relatively boring turned into a hell of a game but don't
- 1:03:03nobody remember any of that. It was just it was just this it
- 1:03:07so it's going to forever be done the golf ball game.
- 1:03:11Yeah. Yeah, so sticking with, with our
- 1:03:15off, the field chaos. My favorite off-the-field chaos
- 1:03:20from this week is on the west coast where for weeks.
- 1:03:28How do I say this? The storm has been building for
- 1:03:35weeks up in Washington state where the media has been asking
- 1:03:45the head football coach for weeks about his status, as it
- 1:03:50relates to vaccines. Now, for those of our audience
- 1:03:54that don't really understand, you know, the culture.
- 1:03:58I should send, you know, we're wet as West Coast stuff.
- 1:04:01Democratic Leadership, they've been very, very serious about
- 1:04:06the covid scenario for a very, very long time and everybody
- 1:04:10knew the mandates were coming. And this dude, like literally
- 1:04:14was disrespectfully dodging. This question for weeks and I'm
- 1:04:19sitting here watching them like he knows he's going to get
- 1:04:21fired, right? And for me, I'm just I'm proud
- 1:04:26that the university decided like you know what, it's college
- 1:04:30football. And you know, everybody thinks
- 1:04:32that sports are more important than everything.
- 1:04:34I'm really proud that the university held to their guns
- 1:04:38and was like actually you and all your staff members.
- 1:04:41They don't want to play ball, can go like I was very proud of
- 1:04:45that because honestly because it's college sports because it's
- 1:04:48football. I felt like that was going to
- 1:04:51drag on and people were just gonna keep it quiet in the media
- 1:04:54was going to keep pounding. It like no no.
- 1:04:56No, they toss them as they should have so Props to
- 1:05:00Washington State and I can't process what goes on in
- 1:05:06somebody's brain. You won't throw away millions of
- 1:05:08dollars over what? I don't get it.
- 1:05:12Well, I think it's just a clear-cut case of him, thinking
- 1:05:16he was bigger than the sport. He was bigger than the movement,
- 1:05:20the any, where you want to state that, and for those people out
- 1:05:25there, who want us to get up on their soap boxes.
- 1:05:26You mean? Yeah, it's unfair.
- 1:05:28It's all that in the day, Washington State University,
- 1:05:31their presidents, their athletic director.
- 1:05:33Everybody else involved in this decision made a decision that
- 1:05:36they thought was best for their football program.
- 1:05:39Right? For the safety and well-being of
- 1:05:41the student athlete, which is what the NCAA is supposed to be
- 1:05:44about. So the end of the day whether
- 1:05:47you like a decision or not, it was that man's decision to make,
- 1:05:50he made a decision and the guys that chose not to get
- 1:05:53vaccinated. They suffer the consequences.
- 1:05:56Yeah. I'm not you know, I'm going to
- 1:05:58take a shot for a million dollars.
- 1:06:00I promised you, I'd Everybody's entitled to their opinion,
- 1:06:10everybody's entitled to their beliefs.
- 1:06:13But if you're going to stand by your beliefs, then stand by your
- 1:06:15consequences. Yeah.
- 1:06:24I'm so glad that this has not become a like, you know, a
- 1:06:27soapbox thing about like, you have to get vaccinated and like
- 1:06:30it's not this isn't about our public opinions.
- 1:06:32Right? Like we're personal opinions.
- 1:06:34I mean, like this is about like, What what's right and wrong as
- 1:06:42it pertains to the others that are around you, right?
- 1:06:44Like if you feel your own personal stances that your anti
- 1:06:48anti vax, like look, I'm not even mad at you if that's what
- 1:06:51you really think, so be it. But at the end of the day, if
- 1:06:53you're in charge of a football program, which is, you know,
- 1:06:57between the students and the staffers is like you.
- 1:06:59That's 200 people that you're going to interact with on a
- 1:07:01daily basis. Like that's just flat out, not
- 1:07:04that selfish and not fair to them.
- 1:07:07Right? Like at the end of the day like
- 1:07:09that. Like that's what it is.
- 1:07:10Like, you can't do that. and and think that there's no
- 1:07:15ramifications to that, like I just Yeah, that's all I got.
- 1:07:23I was shocked when they called his bluff that he didn't fold.
- 1:07:27I was actually shocked by that. Right?
- 1:07:29So you can because here's the thing like everybody's like, you
- 1:07:31know, thereby. Sorry Mark I read and I'm like,
- 1:07:34yeah, but here's the thing. When you are a millionaire.
- 1:07:36It's a lot easier to forgo Millions.
- 1:07:40Like it's difficult to forgo Millions, for sure.
- 1:07:42Right? But if, I've already signed
- 1:07:44contracts that are up over a hundred million dollars, right?
- 1:07:48It's just more money. mmm, but if I've never made my first
- 1:07:53million It's a lot harder to give up a million.
- 1:07:58Like I signed my name on this thing and I get a million.
- 1:08:02And it's just a whole different deal.
- 1:08:04Like I will be here for two hours talking about the Kyrie
- 1:08:07thing. So I won't even we're not going
- 1:08:09to do it, won't even go left with that.
- 1:08:11But my thing is this and it's a long, this whole covid train
- 1:08:16that we've all suffered through the last, you know, two years or
- 1:08:18whatever. There's been a lot of inflection
- 1:08:20points, right? And this latest one is, you
- 1:08:25know, the the whole You know, academically dishonest argument
- 1:08:31over oats, a personal decision, public health is not a personal
- 1:08:36decision. It's just not abortions of
- 1:08:41personal decision. Whether you do, whether you
- 1:08:44don't that only affects you, this is a public health issue.
- 1:08:49You can, if you can't do that, you can't be in a leadership
- 1:08:52position and it's not like everybody hasn't been for a
- 1:08:55warrant. I work in the state of
- 1:08:56California. Governor came out said, hey, the
- 1:09:01mandates are here. Here's your, here's your drop
- 1:09:04dead date, do or don't. And no one out here.
- 1:09:08Thought it was a game like, oh, okay.
- 1:09:11Do what you gotta do. Like I just I don't get it.
- 1:09:15Like, there's no winning this like you're not winning.
- 1:09:18You're not a martyr. It's not cute.
- 1:09:21You're not winning any battle. You're just endangering, you
- 1:09:24know, the population. So I would literally proud to
- 1:09:29see Washington State. Take that stand.
- 1:09:35Definitely interesting. Well, let's stay off the field.
- 1:09:40Oh, yeah, because of Lamar's favorite topic.
- 1:09:41Is we here we here now. I feel like y'all just don't
- 1:09:47like this. Just do the crank in my back
- 1:09:50like wind them up. Oh, yeah the floor is yours,
- 1:09:54homie. I'm listening.
- 1:09:59Listen to the audience is going to be listening.
- 1:10:03We are, we are we are here for this.
- 1:10:05Go ahead. Are we talking about?
- 1:10:10Okay, so talking about and right bars, going to dress coach.
- 1:10:16Oh not returning to LSU. And because he's got a lot to
- 1:10:20say, trust me, man. Does he go ahead?
- 1:10:23Do look? First off.
- 1:10:30Let me start by saying this, I do completely get.
- 1:10:34I will without question acknowledge that almost
- 1:10:39certainly the separation of kocho and LSU is for things, not
- 1:10:44involving football and not on the field.
- 1:10:48All right. So there's my disclaimer with
- 1:10:52that being said. I find it interesting and for
- 1:10:59the state of Collegiate, Athletics and employment
- 1:11:02alarming. The people are so Cavalier about
- 1:11:07winning national championships, that a guy wins a national
- 1:11:10championship. In three years later.
- 1:11:12He's no longer going to be employed by the school.
- 1:11:16Like, I just find that incredibly interesting because
- 1:11:19national championships in any sport are insanely difficult to
- 1:11:24win, even though, sir. Lucius wouldn't have you.
- 1:11:27Not necessarily believe that not him and his accomplishments.
- 1:11:32I said, not you, but your accomplishment.
- 1:11:34It makes it seem like everybody can do this.
- 1:11:37Okay, they can't. Right.
- 1:11:39Look. Alabama and Clemson have rent,
- 1:11:42run away and hid for the most part from the rest of the
- 1:11:45college football World. Those two teams have been
- 1:11:48playing a game of ping-pong and everybody else is just been like
- 1:11:51poop for whom for whom for whom and then LSU shows up with with
- 1:11:56the quarterback that nobody saw being anywhere near that good.
- 1:12:00And, you know, every receiver on the planet and and all of the
- 1:12:05stars aligned properly. And for my money, the right guy,
- 1:12:10By coaching that group of people at that school and look, do I
- 1:12:16get it? Everybody has a time to go.
- 1:12:18Yeah, I get it. I do.
- 1:12:20But to these guys, this point, I'm going to say the thing that
- 1:12:23they're waiting for me to say, I don't think That's separating
- 1:12:30because he's not being fired separating, from coach odor on.
- 1:12:35Is going to in any way, shape, or form lead to the advancement
- 1:12:39of LSU football in any way, shape, or form.
- 1:12:43All right, there you happy. Like, I got it out.
- 1:12:47Met you, I'm a little happy. We gonna get you because he,
- 1:12:50that was not with the same piss and vinegar.
- 1:12:53We got that earlier. Right?
- 1:12:54Right, right. We'll take it.
- 1:12:56So all, you know, is still coming because it's going to
- 1:12:58come back around. Okay, so lucious if you don't
- 1:13:01mind, I'd like to focus on one thing.
- 1:13:04Just one thing that he Because he he did a very artsy little
- 1:13:07dance Rankin. He said, The right coach
- 1:13:14coaching the right players at the right time.
- 1:13:17He did say that I did I would argue sir that I agree with you
- 1:13:22100% And that coach has left for the NFL.
- 1:13:28It wasn't. Oh Gerard.
- 1:13:29And since his departure and older ons inability to replace
- 1:13:34him LSU has fallen off the map. So if you are the boss, if sir
- 1:13:42lucious and all his rings, I think he I think he would argue
- 1:13:47that, you know, is the his staff is important and he and he's had
- 1:13:54some turnover, not a lot, but some over the years and when
- 1:13:59turnover happens, magically sir, Lucius finds a way to put new
- 1:14:03people in there and Elevate the program.
- 1:14:07If you're the boss and you have turnover, you supposed to put
- 1:14:11people in there, makes your program better and that hasn't
- 1:14:17happened. So yeah, my coach at the right
- 1:14:19time is now. I would say.
- 1:14:26That man is the primary reason they won that national title and
- 1:14:30he ain't there no more and they're not any good.
- 1:14:35We are not going to do. The offensive coordinator is the
- 1:14:38only reason that they're good dance.
- 1:14:40That is not a thing. I says, the only reason I said
- 1:14:44and not just that in your in your analysis.
- 1:14:48The problem is the problem is Sir, Lucius has has handled
- 1:14:54turmoil and turnover, but he's Alabama in this conversation.
- 1:15:00That's my point. Nick Saban.
- 1:15:02No, no. No, this is all the time.
- 1:15:05Wow, Alabama stays Alabama, LSU is another school.
- 1:15:10It's not Alabama. Right?
- 1:15:11So like if you have turnover and you're trying to beat sir,
- 1:15:15lucious and track and field, good luck to you.
- 1:15:18That's my point. Okay.
- 1:15:21Okay. May I say something to get us
- 1:15:23off of that train, please? Because this is not about me.
- 1:15:26And what I've been able to accomplish what this is about
- 1:15:30for me, is this is that you are clearly.
- 1:15:32There's something you, are. You have some kind of fandom for
- 1:15:39Coach. Oh, I don't know.
- 1:15:40Maybe you guys like the same kind of food or something.
- 1:15:42I'm not sure. But yeah, accent.
- 1:15:46I will. What I will say to you see see
- 1:15:47the whole, the whole you shot your, the in your argument, when
- 1:15:52you said, I understand. This has nothing to do with
- 1:15:56football. There's a lot of stuff off the
- 1:15:58office of the field, right? So once you say that, then all
- 1:16:02the other stuff doesn't matter because what you're saying
- 1:16:05Collective effectively is even though you don't think there's
- 1:16:09another coach out there that II Pope that fair, they can become
- 1:16:14in the LSU and make it less you better.
- 1:16:15That's what you said to me earlier.
- 1:16:17So but you so you want them to keep a coach that he can't get
- 1:16:21along with because that you don't think Of course, you can
- 1:16:24do that job. It's LSU.
- 1:16:26The Mad Hatter was successful. They're, you know, they're going
- 1:16:30to be successful as long as they go get the right person.
- 1:16:33Now. Clear, they have to go get the
- 1:16:34right person and there will be people interested in a job.
- 1:16:38Even some of those people that are lying and saying, I'm not
- 1:16:40interested. We've both seen that song and
- 1:16:42dance before, right? It's LSU.
- 1:16:45It's a prime time job in the SEC.
- 1:16:48Of course. There's going to be big name
- 1:16:50people. They might be in FL coaches, a
- 1:16:51technical job. No, at the end of the day and
- 1:16:56from where I sit anyway day, I would agree with Clyde that LSU
- 1:17:01is not close to what they were. When the one that's Champion,
- 1:17:04not even close, Okay, and clearly that ship is sinking
- 1:17:07fast. And in a perfect world if he's
- 1:17:11getting along better with the administration and the players
- 1:17:14and all the other stuff, this big complaint about he probably
- 1:17:16doesn't get fine. I would give him a chance to
- 1:17:18right the ship. But also we will climb the fact
- 1:17:21that his biggest issue from where I said, is that he doesn't
- 1:17:24have a very good job of replacing his assistant coaches
- 1:17:27and he has done a very good job of recruiting a, another good
- 1:17:30quarterback. And so, here's and I want to try
- 1:17:34to wrap a little bowl around this for you Lamar because Cotto
- 1:17:39been around. Okay.
- 1:17:41And when codes O'Kane to LSU and they were successful.
- 1:17:46Would you agree with me that in a nutshell?
- 1:17:51I've never heard anybody accused, kocho of being great,
- 1:17:54with x's and o's, that's not him.
- 1:17:56Coach owes, rep is leadership and culture, right?
- 1:18:02Okay, sure. Okay.
- 1:18:04So a source familiar with the situation at LSU quote.
- 1:18:10It's one of those things where no one wanted to be there
- 1:18:13anymore. The players didn't want to play
- 1:18:15for him and the coaches didn't want to coach for it.
- 1:18:18So, I mean Jesus, the leadership and culture guy isn't leading
- 1:18:23and the culture is awful. How can you justify keeping him?
- 1:18:29It's the one thing he's supposed to be good at.
- 1:18:32I mean, that is a fair point, sir.
- 1:18:36It is a fair point. I just will, I will, I will end
- 1:18:40on this as far as I'm concerned. All of that is true.
- 1:18:45And I don't even, I'm not even trying to refute, you guys
- 1:18:48argument. I think my issue is the Cavalier
- 1:18:51nature, with which, so many people think.
- 1:18:55All right, pluck this dude out, in insert other, dude and LSU
- 1:19:00will go back to being great at football.
- 1:19:02Like, I've heard those things and I think that that's probably
- 1:19:05what's feeding this. Me is like it's so far from
- 1:19:08being that easy. Yeah, this is so much fun that I
- 1:19:12haven't even heard, you know, a name like hey, that's the guy.
- 1:19:16And that's always, you know, my Jim Harbaugh.
- 1:19:18If you hate you don't know that you're going to hear a name
- 1:19:20because I don't need anything. I don't think there's a name.
- 1:19:23We can bring Jim Harbaugh because if you think, the Jim
- 1:19:26Harbaugh should sit still be head coach anywhere.
- 1:19:29Anywhere name, Michigan. We got a whole other
- 1:19:31conversation, but but I'm actually making the argument
- 1:19:34made that argument. So the one you're asking your
- 1:19:38point ultimately is okay, if And Boo and I'm asking.
- 1:19:43So that's my hard. Bargain.
- 1:19:44If Harbaugh sucks. Tell me who's going to be better
- 1:19:46and that's what you're saying here.
- 1:19:49And at the end of the day, guys, okay, like this.
- 1:19:51This is a thing, like, I would never want to be in ad because I
- 1:19:55wouldn't want to deal with the fans of the football program.
- 1:19:58You there's rules. That's phones were ringing.
- 1:20:03The Haiti's phone was off the hook.
- 1:20:05You just couldn't keep it on hook this week, you know, that
- 1:20:07is ringing every two seconds because their football team
- 1:20:09lost. You're not doing what they
- 1:20:10should be doing and they want people's heads to roll.
- 1:20:14All right. And so that's just the fan side
- 1:20:18of it. That's just part of the
- 1:20:19business. But like again, this goes back
- 1:20:22to me is know what Clive read and what you know, the other
- 1:20:26talk has been this wasn't a football field issue.
- 1:20:31This was more of an off the field issue.
- 1:20:33And and and clearly when you hear about the culture, which is
- 1:20:37what he was supposed to be so good at clearly.
- 1:20:40He's lost his way. Because the coach's house or
- 1:20:43book if your 80s were willing to make this decision.
- 1:20:45Now, they still got another seven games or play and I will
- 1:20:50acquiesce to the fact that I think we all agree that like,
- 1:20:52look if your culture is bad, the rest of it.
- 1:20:54Can't possibly be good. Yeah.
- 1:20:58You cannot be successful in anything with that culture and
- 1:21:03if you later saying it, one play for the man and coaches don't
- 1:21:06want to coach with the man. You got no shot.
- 1:21:12So I think we, I think we hit all of our off-field issues,
- 1:21:17right? I just want I want to now.
- 1:21:21Since we dumped on Lamar there. I would like to give them our
- 1:21:24props because he was the loudest.
- 1:21:27He was the loudest, not the only but the loudest to call Iowa,
- 1:21:32fugazi his quote. Now, you know, so Props for
- 1:21:38seeing that coming but I just want to point this out because
- 1:21:42week after week in the chaotic world of college football.
- 1:21:45We are here again. So I will lost the game.
- 1:21:51They were number two. They drop nine spots.
- 1:21:59And I told you last week to the audience that when Oregon won
- 1:22:06their game and they did. They dropped another spot.
- 1:22:12He did say those exact words. So this is two weeks in a row
- 1:22:16that Oregon wins their game and loses ground twice.
- 1:22:22But hey, I'm just saying, you know, the funniest part about
- 1:22:29about the props you gave me is inadvertently to of my loud
- 1:22:35rants ran into each other because I also said that Purdue
- 1:22:39was going to upset somebody in the upper half of the Big Ten at
- 1:22:42some point. Yes.
- 1:22:43Yeah. So it just randomly collided
- 1:22:47that it happened. This weekend.
- 1:22:48It wasn't like you were 343 because you clearly said
- 1:22:51Arkansas sucked. And we we kind of scum away
- 1:22:55Franks and so both of us. Yeah, you're right there on that
- 1:22:59one and I was trying to send the Razorbacks.
- 1:23:02I apologize. Yeah.
- 1:23:04Oh wow, very the Razorbacks. The reserve bank's are out of
- 1:23:09the rankings. Yeah.
- 1:23:10There are the rankings tell you. Like the unfortunate part,
- 1:23:15right? It's just like what there are
- 1:23:17certain things about college football that always is.
- 1:23:20I don't use always as are never as very often but there are
- 1:23:23certain things about college football that just kind of are
- 1:23:26are true. Right?
- 1:23:27Like it doesn't matter. The records Purdue usually beats
- 1:23:31Iowa. It's the weird thing.
- 1:23:32I don't know why that is. It just happens a lot.
- 1:23:35It you called, right? But there's also this other
- 1:23:38things out there, right? Like, you know, like Ole Miss
- 1:23:43and Mississippi State. They are whether they're really
- 1:23:48good or just, okay. And in football, inevitably two,
- 1:23:52things are going to happen in both of their Seasons.
- 1:23:53Every single year. They going to beat somebody,
- 1:23:55they should not going to lose to somebody.
- 1:23:56They should both teams. Do the same thing every single
- 1:23:59year. No matter who the coach is like,
- 1:24:04it's so I don't know what that is.
- 1:24:06I just know. It's true.
- 1:24:08Right, like, like the only thing that surprised me at all this
- 1:24:10year is that Jimbo Fisher. Was the assistant that beat Nick
- 1:24:15Saban. That's the only thing that is
- 1:24:16surprising me this year in college football.
- 1:24:19Well, here's here's an interesting question.
- 1:24:23When was the last time that neither Texas?
- 1:24:25North Florida were ranked in the top 25 in the country?
- 1:24:30But women a Texas, Florida and Clemson who has still not
- 1:24:35returned to the rank. Did you, did you see them barely
- 1:24:40win? The game is weak.
- 1:24:42No. I understand that.
- 1:24:43I'm just saying to his point like these names.
- 1:24:48They're not here and it's why it's the best chaos season so
- 1:24:55far. Now, I'd like to point out some
- 1:24:57interesting factoids here. None of this is going to hold.
- 1:25:00Course, but there are currently 1, 2 3, 4 5, 5 undefeated teams.
- 1:25:10Ranked 14 to 25 and there are another one, two, three, four,
- 1:25:17five, six teams. There are also undefeated still
- 1:25:22hanging on, right of those undefeated teams.
- 1:25:26I'm just, you know, the the fugazi watch is on for probably
- 1:25:30all of them. You know me, no question.
- 1:25:34But I am. I am.
- 1:25:36I am planting my flag the most chaotic thing that And happen.
- 1:25:41And therefore I will continue to root for is Cincinnati.
- 1:25:44Cincinnati is holding tight at number 2.
- 1:25:48And I am, I am team Cincinnati for the rest of the EU because
- 1:25:53that was 24 and 54. Of course, magically is Alabama.
- 1:25:59Just like that. They're right back.
- 1:26:01And number five is, of course, Ohio, State right back.
- 1:26:07He said I'm 63. Oklahoma, of course, who else
- 1:26:11would it be like, listen, we know how this is gonna go.
- 1:26:14I'm in Clemson has done rightly. Clinton.
- 1:26:16Clinton has done, but they're going to push the same names,
- 1:26:19right to the front, as much as they can.
- 1:26:21So Cincinnati, you make, you better not even win a game by
- 1:26:25seven points. Yeah.
- 1:26:27They got to be on blowout alert, right?
- 1:26:29Because the many every single close game, they're going to
- 1:26:32bounce you back behind all these people.
- 1:26:37It's amazing. I really would like to have
- 1:26:41somebody on the committee. Explain the Oregon move moving
- 1:26:45south though. Like that would be the one that
- 1:26:48I would because it's not the comedian.
- 1:26:52It's just a coach's fault. Right?
- 1:26:54Right, right. That's the Brilliance of it.
- 1:26:55You're right. You're right, the committee
- 1:26:58right where it's the coaches and and I and I'm like, so how are
- 1:27:01you going to do your peers like that?
- 1:27:02Help me with this. How do I win and go backwards?
- 1:27:09Explain yourself two times. Everybody else can can lose in
- 1:27:15their conference and it's cute. He'll sometimes if you lose in
- 1:27:19the right conference you move up, you know.
- 1:27:24Hey, I'm just saying, yeah, you do.
- 1:27:31Where is was it Coastal Carolina?
- 1:27:32Who what? Non what group of five team
- 1:27:35besides? Cincinnati is also highly
- 1:27:37ranked. Oh, highly none.
- 1:27:39But so group of five Coastal. Is currently sitting in 14,
- 1:27:44which means they're Dead on Arrival.
- 1:27:46They're not going to be able to climb high enough.
- 1:27:48Yeah, no chance. And so Wake Forest is undefeated
- 1:27:52at 16. S mu is undefeated at 21, San
- 1:27:57Diego. State is undefeated at 22 UTSA
- 1:28:00University of Texas. San Antonio is undefeated and
- 1:28:04rated higher than Texas. I am here for all of it.
- 1:28:11I just don't think people understand the Ridiculousness of
- 1:28:15that current state of affairs. Yes, if you I've only lived in
- 1:28:21Texas for a month, but I will tell you this.
- 1:28:24And I would challenge any text into to defy this.
- 1:28:29There is a clear pecking order in just about every household in
- 1:28:34the state of Texas as to the schools in, Texas.
- 1:28:41Oh, yeah, like you might like Texas more than Texas A&M but
- 1:28:46they're there and then you might like Texas Tech more than
- 1:28:50Baylor, more than TCU, but they are there, right?
- 1:28:53Like when you start getting to the alphabets, you're in like
- 1:28:57TR4 in the state of Texas, the UT somewhere else, right?
- 1:29:03And and the Texas A&M somewhere else like right and then the
- 1:29:07schools named after people like Lamar and Sam Hughes.
- 1:29:11Right, like those fools are 50 in my life.
- 1:29:18You're not lying. You're not lying.
- 1:29:19But here this this reality right here.
- 1:29:22This is so petty. Let me put some some sprinkles
- 1:29:25on how Petty, this is heady and backwards, okay.
- 1:29:31From a Texas perspective. Texas, Texas A&M.
- 1:29:38Baylor. SMU and UTSA are all ranked in
- 1:29:43the top 25 in Texas, has elsewhere.
- 1:29:46That's Petty. Number one, but UTSA is 7 and 0
- 1:29:52SMU is 60, Baylor is 6, and 1 and magically they're all ranked
- 1:29:58lower than Texas A&M who's 5 and 2.
- 1:30:02I mean because there's a clear pecking order in the state of
- 1:30:05Texas. So, you know, look, you know,
- 1:30:12it's early, but what is going on in?
- 1:30:15Austin is not sustainable, should have fired the DC after
- 1:30:20the Oklahoma tobacco. They better get it together
- 1:30:24because this is not going to stand.
- 1:30:29I, you know, there are many questions.
- 1:30:32I want to ask the Dalai Lama. One of them, one of them.
- 1:30:37He's clearly, how can you not battle for national
- 1:30:41championships at the University of Texas in every sport?
- 1:30:47I will never understand that. Well, like I just I just will
- 1:30:53never understand that. I know you, we all know you to
- 1:30:55be you and Lucius for that matter to be Shadow fans of the
- 1:30:59Big Ten. And so that the powers that be
- 1:31:03are the powers that meeting again.
- 1:31:08This is just called you a shadow fans.
- 1:31:11That'll take a long walk on a short pier P, right.
- 1:31:22Well, the powers that be are framing this up, very nicely for
- 1:31:26a fans at a big tent because we're halfway through maybe a
- 1:31:30little bit more than half. Ohio state is getting their
- 1:31:34guaranteed top ranking, right there.
- 1:31:35Five, Michigan undefeated. It's six Penn State with one
- 1:31:39loss at 7:00, Michigan State, undefeated at nine, and they're
- 1:31:44all going to play. So who's going to come out in
- 1:31:47the wash? Probably, Ohio State, but I'm
- 1:31:50just saying like, this is, this is the way it is.
- 1:31:54I mean, it's got to come out that way because it's gonna come
- 1:31:56down to Ohio, State, Michigan, and we already know Harbaugh
- 1:31:59can't beat Ohio State. Just saying.
- 1:32:08If the khakis alone, sir, the cactus, the best team in Ohio,
- 1:32:13Cincinnati. Hey.
- 1:32:15And again, and again, there's as Solutions will admit to there's
- 1:32:19a hierarchy set up in the state of Ohio and Cincinnati is
- 1:32:22definitely not on the top of it. I mean, that would be obviously,
- 1:32:34that'd be amazing. Oh my God, that would be epic.
- 1:32:38I'm here for it. Oh well.
- 1:32:45If we didn't promise you chaos, that was chaos.
- 1:32:49How about Wake Forest runs the table and makes it in the ACC
- 1:32:55ACC. They're going to get.
- 1:32:57If they run the table. They get it.
- 1:32:59It's the ACC baby for the record.
- 1:33:03That's the second smallest Division. 1 School in the
- 1:33:05country. I'm here for all of it.
- 1:33:11Cheese epitome of chaos. So let's let's do our organized
- 1:33:18chaos of rapid-fire. Gentlemen, Clyde Europe.
- 1:33:25Yes, so What are your go-to shoes?
- 1:33:39I have Nikes written down but I now I realize that you're an
- 1:33:42Adidas school. So what are your go-to Adidas
- 1:33:46shoes? How you found them yet?
- 1:33:48If not, Nike shoes. First of all, my go-to will
- 1:33:52never be a Nike shoe. My go to shoes are K-Swiss and
- 1:33:58Chuck's. Let's be clear about that.
- 1:34:01I'm a West Coast baby. Okay, so but I yeah, But since
- 1:34:08you know, we are team Adidas around these parts in my
- 1:34:12professional life. I am currently trying to figure
- 1:34:15out my Adidas shoes. And so if y'all have
- 1:34:19suggestions, both for coaching comfort and style, you know,
- 1:34:25send me some DMS because I am purchased nothing yet.
- 1:34:30Have you ever owned a pair of campuses?
- 1:34:33Like the old-school flat nose? Yeah.
- 1:34:36I have a pair of Adidas canvases from the last stint that I had
- 1:34:41at Adidas, which was Alabama, State proper.
- 1:34:43Shout out to Richard mean. Yeah, but those those are dusty
- 1:34:46and I can't find them right now. So I need some need some advice.
- 1:34:52That's clear. So funny story real quick.
- 1:34:54I know I'm interrupting that big fire.
- 1:34:56Okay. Rabbit fires over it's over.
- 1:34:57Yeah. I'm sorry.
- 1:34:58No first time. Politically, jit meet with you.
- 1:35:01We're at Nebraska's Last Chance me and you sure were wearing
- 1:35:05some case face and I walked by you.
- 1:35:07And I was like This dude really worth some K-Swiss right now,
- 1:35:11like what year it is and don't judge me.
- 1:35:15See if I can find any of you that I like, I will be in my own
- 1:35:19case in or indoors. There's no dust.
- 1:35:22So, I always on one all night that night on the way home.
- 1:35:27I was like, he really has some Chase was on anyways.
- 1:35:30Okay, moving on. What is your morning drink of
- 1:35:33choice? Oh.
- 1:35:39Chai tea. I'm going to ask because I'm not
- 1:35:44going to be presumptuous hot or cold.
- 1:35:49Typically hot and dirty chai. And for those of you who think
- 1:35:53gross, like Lamar that all that means is, it has Express Owen.
- 1:35:59I like it. I like it.
- 1:36:00I just you're welcome. There's going to be like 3 of
- 1:36:03those meeting you at convention. If you go, there you go.
- 1:36:07I'm trying to help you out. What is your favorite Halloween
- 1:36:11movie? Scary, or not?
- 1:36:12Scary? Halloween is my favorite holiday
- 1:36:18by far. It's not even close for an array
- 1:36:20of reasons. Whore is my favorite genre
- 1:36:27because it's the hardest to do. Well.
- 1:36:31My favorite scary movie. That's really difficult, but In
- 1:36:38a snap off the top of the head. I think I'm going to say the
- 1:36:42original Friday. The 13th is still highly highly
- 1:36:47up there. The OG Friday, the 13th can do
- 1:36:52it can't do it. Oh, you got you've not seen
- 1:36:55that. No, I have I was traumatized as
- 1:37:00a child. I mean, there's so many ogs.
- 1:37:05You know, like there's a lot. Here's another scary reference.
- 1:37:10When was the last time you ran a hill with T.
- 1:37:13I was on Instagram. That's not me.
- 1:37:20T is an offseason and I am attempting to be retired from
- 1:37:24All Things. Running demo.
- 1:37:26Whatever. I was, I was at the elite
- 1:37:31coaches Summit in Vegas, and because I'm the youngest dude in
- 1:37:34the room, so I've got me to demo some.
- 1:37:38And my legs still hurt. I have evidence that I'm not
- 1:37:42supposed to be running. Nothing like I have science
- 1:37:45behind that. So when I saw that video post, I
- 1:37:49was like, oh my god. Oh I said, I know I do my
- 1:37:52workout on. My workouts are cool pool and
- 1:37:55weight room. That's all.
- 1:37:56I'm giving myself permission to do goodness.
- 1:37:59Alright. Last question, on snoots
- 1:38:01birthday. What is your favorite movie or
- 1:38:03character? That's you guys, either.
- 1:38:05For Trader done. Snoops movies are terrible.
- 1:38:10Let's just, let's just let's just put that out there.
- 1:38:14Snoops movies are terrible, you know, love him.
- 1:38:19Love music. Love the man.
- 1:38:21The best thing Snoop has ever done on TV was co host the
- 1:38:25Olympic after show with Kevin Hart.
- 1:38:28That is TV gold. The movies.
- 1:38:32I can't think of one movie that I've enjoyed the Snoop was in
- 1:38:36baby boy. Yeah, so baby boy.
- 1:38:41Great director, very poor acting by everybody except erisa Henson
- 1:38:47and Snoop was awful in that room awful.
- 1:38:51It almost made it unwatchable. I did not believe Snoop at all
- 1:38:56in that role. So no sir.
- 1:39:00No, no. No, I am here to cancel snoops
- 1:39:04acting career. Do the music.
- 1:39:07I'd rather watch Snoop cook with Martha Stewart.
- 1:39:09So pointed. Yeah, like I said, all right,
- 1:39:14gentlemen, it is time for your questions, your contributions.
- 1:39:21All I can do is laugh for it though.
- 1:39:23Deuces, Soul Plane. Is there any of his music that
- 1:39:35you get your partial to? Any particular?
- 1:39:38Those are what your favorite song?
- 1:39:41Who? My favorites, my two favorite
- 1:39:48Snoop songs. Are probably things that people
- 1:39:52wouldn't consider and they're actually both from his original
- 1:39:56album, doggy-dog world. Love it.
- 1:40:01And the shiznit. From the doggy style album.
- 1:40:06My two favorite Snoop songs ever.
- 1:40:08It's not really close. He's had plenty of great music
- 1:40:12over time and there's other albums have that?
- 1:40:14I love but the original. Yeah, that's that's my thing.
- 1:40:23I think it's interesting. I think snoops like one of the
- 1:40:27most prolific and give two rappers ever but there's there's
- 1:40:31a case that can be made for murder was the case which is
- 1:40:34like the best of the best. The other been produced still
- 1:40:40might be. The best, right?
- 1:40:44That's the other one, you know, people kind of forget that one
- 1:40:48because it wasn't on one of his albums.
- 1:40:51But murder was the case was cold blooded.
- 1:40:55The video was great. His yeah.
- 1:40:57You never seen him. Do that song live on stage.
- 1:40:59It was always great and the fact that Snoop is 50 is insane to
- 1:41:03me. Yeah.
- 1:41:05Happy birthday. Oh, gee.
- 1:41:08Yes, okay. So you have professed on many
- 1:41:16many, many occasions to be a West Coast baby.
- 1:41:21If we were to grab a human being from the Midwest, send them to
- 1:41:27you for a Bay Area education. You have.
- 1:41:37Three at minimum five that maximum places to take them or
- 1:41:43things. They must see or Foods.
- 1:41:45They must eat go. So wow.
- 1:41:56So obviously, there has to be a touristy thing in there.
- 1:42:01And most people would say, you know, the Golden Gate Bridge and
- 1:42:05all that stuff, right? Maybe Twin Peaks for me, the the
- 1:42:10most the, the most underrated touristy thing that you
- 1:42:13absolutely have to see when you come to the Bay Area.
- 1:42:15Is the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and you have to
- 1:42:18see it at night when it's lit up, like something that you
- 1:42:21would see in Paris. It's incredible.
- 1:42:26The Grizzly Peak viewpoint on the other side of the Bay.
- 1:42:33Is a must-see in the Bay Area and was crazy about that is
- 1:42:37because it's remote and because of its actual location.
- 1:42:43I know so many people that have lived here their entire lives
- 1:42:45and never even been up there. And that's tragic.
- 1:42:50It's definitely, definitely top two or three views of anything
- 1:42:54in the United States. Yes.
- 1:42:57So there's your viewpoints. You know, from a sports, kind of
- 1:43:04thing. The climb is high school my alma
- 1:43:08mater, where if you truly understand the human beings that
- 1:43:17have come out of that high school and, you know, like the
- 1:43:22amount of not just the vision. Look, I would say like this Bill
- 1:43:26Russell graduated from a client's high school, okay.
- 1:43:29Between football basketball. Like that's cool.
- 1:43:33When you realize the full, you know, catechism that is the the
- 1:43:38academic struggles that they've had over the decades and the
- 1:43:42athletic prowess that they've somehow been able to maintain in
- 1:43:44the lives that they've changed out of that community.
- 1:43:47That's for me. That's a thing.
- 1:43:49And, of course, you know, collegially, its speed C.
- 1:43:54So, you know people act like that's not a part of the bay it
- 1:43:59absolutely is. And so, you know, those are the
- 1:44:02things for me food, man. There's too many choices.
- 1:44:05It would depend on. What's your pleasure is you name
- 1:44:09the food culture, we have it. And you know, so the food is way
- 1:44:14too difficult. But yeah that those Are those
- 1:44:18and you know if they can stomach it you take them, you find E-40
- 1:44:23you drop them off for a while. And that's and that's all you
- 1:44:26need to do if Vito. Oh, yeah, drop Mom.
- 1:44:31Okay, Rob mom, get get the education you need from from the
- 1:44:36quintessential Bay Area. Legend.
- 1:44:38That is afforded. Can you imagine a tour of the
- 1:44:42Beyblade by E-40? Yes, I am here for it.
- 1:44:45Like that would be the greatest thing ever.
- 1:44:48I am I'm like a pseudo Bay Area resident and I would be the
- 1:44:51first one in line for that too. Look.
- 1:44:54Man. The E-40 is out here on
- 1:44:56Instagram doing cooking shows. No goon with the spoon.
- 1:44:59Yeah, hilarious. My the way from here, want to
- 1:45:01laugh on Instagram with the spoon.
- 1:45:04This boy got wine and all this other stuff going on.
- 1:45:07There's nothing better than a Bay Area tour led by efort.
- 1:45:10Nothing better like you. Somebody make that happen.
- 1:45:14Well, he look, he did it whenever they should do that.
- 1:45:18What was the show on MTV? I know exactly what you're
- 1:45:21talking about. And I kids know, it was
- 1:45:25something they did something, something something Bay Area and
- 1:45:27E-40 was one of narrated and toward it.
- 1:45:30It was it was spot on and it was it was hilarious.
- 1:45:35Only fair if people understood what he was really saying look
- 1:45:38hop-on hop-off tours led by E-40 and you get a free dictionary of
- 1:45:43slang. I'm here for it.
- 1:45:45Yes. Yep.
- 1:45:47Let me tell you something. If somebody would produce the
- 1:45:51E-40 dictionary of Bay Area, slang.
- 1:45:54It would for sure be a New York Times bestseller.
- 1:45:59And like no question get it done.
- 1:46:01I'm somehow we got to get it done.
- 1:46:06All right, let's, let's move on. Let's give some roses.
- 1:46:11Let's give some love, but shout out some people.
- 1:46:14However, you want to do it. However, you want to phrase it
- 1:46:18because that's what we're about l-o-v-e, but I will go for
- 1:46:23someone jumping again. Sorry because they don't want
- 1:46:25any of you to take it just in case it's super salty.
- 1:46:30Go ahead. I don't know if I will or not,
- 1:46:34but I wanted to give a shout out to Friend green, Francesca,
- 1:46:37green at Arizona. She was elevated.
- 1:46:40Well announced her elevation to associate head today, or I
- 1:46:44finally saw today. I don't know if it came out for
- 1:46:47your mind. You appreciate yes.
- 1:46:52That's somebody's, it wasn't mine, but she got right.
- 1:46:54But you know, she is, I've known her for a few years now.
- 1:46:58Several years, not super personal, but just being a
- 1:47:02female who coaches power events. We all kind of band up.
- 1:47:05And she's always been a Shining Light a great smile, great
- 1:47:10supporter who work super hard and it's been amazing to see her
- 1:47:16to have her as someone I can look up to to follow with.
- 1:47:19So congratulations to you my dear much-deserved and I can't
- 1:47:25wait to see everything that you could already have done.
- 1:47:27But even now with the associate head marker with it.
- 1:47:31Indy well deserved I'll go next because mine's not necessarily
- 1:47:38very positive and I don't want to end the show on this.
- 1:47:42Okay, my heartbeat props go out to a very good friend of mine.
- 1:47:48Who is a junior college, baseball coach, and my heart
- 1:47:53goes out to him because I think people underestimate the value,
- 1:48:01not just the coaches have on kids, but the kids have on
- 1:48:05coaches and my friend suffered, the loss of one of his former
- 1:48:13players to a to an overdose and it's the second second player.
- 1:48:20He's had as he could that he's lost to that mess. and I want to
- 1:48:26send my shot out my heartbeat props out to to Gene bowls for
- 1:48:34Look, I'll say it the way it is for being a Caucasian guy who
- 1:48:38was a beacon of light in a whole lot of minority kids is lives
- 1:48:42for all of the right reasons. and, For for my friend, who is
- 1:48:50in pain because of the pain, he feels for one of his players and
- 1:48:55their families. I just want to send him a
- 1:48:58virtual hug and and send out my heart be props to to just let
- 1:49:04him know that it's okay to to be hurting.
- 1:49:08But just to remember all the players positive lives lives.
- 1:49:12He has a ton, he has touched And not to just focus on, on this
- 1:49:18particular result, which obviously is not a good one.
- 1:49:24I'm let you go next to that. I don't think I might still no
- 1:49:27words if I know so. Well, I was I wanted to go next
- 1:49:30to give you more time to gather. So hopefully.
- 1:49:34All right. So the other great piece of news
- 1:49:37for me. This, this, you know, this week
- 1:49:40came out of my alma mater, University of South Carolina.
- 1:49:45We were smart enough and righteous enough to hire Miss
- 1:49:51Dawn Staley to the 20. Point four million dollar
- 1:49:54contract and, you know, we could do a whole show just on that and
- 1:49:59the importance of it and the levels to it, but the bottom
- 1:50:03line is, she deserved it. And so often in our business of
- 1:50:08College athletics, deserving people never see the money that
- 1:50:11they rightfully should get. And so for her to get that on
- 1:50:16time when she deserved it, at the height of her powers is
- 1:50:20amazing and I hope It leads to some kind of trend, not just in
- 1:50:26the basketball world, that moves the needle across the board and
- 1:50:31coaches start getting fairly compensated for the work and the
- 1:50:34production that they have Standing Ovation to Dawn and her
- 1:50:40crew. And honestly to the
- 1:50:42administration, I don't know the ins and outs of how it got done.
- 1:50:46But that was the only decision to make and the fact that
- 1:50:50everybody was so blown away by the number.
- 1:50:53Only speaks to, you know, how small-minded we all have become
- 1:51:00used to seeing these things play out.
- 1:51:02It shouldn't be news that Don got that contract.
- 1:51:06It should be the norm when you're that good and she is that
- 1:51:11good. So Elite people should be paid.
- 1:51:13Elite across the board in all of our Sports because it's not like
- 1:51:18they don't have the money. So congratulations.
- 1:51:22Gamecocks. Proud of y'all.
- 1:51:28Well, I was definitely going to steal yours.
- 1:51:29That's why that you drum. That's a big-league stole mine.
- 1:51:34I'm like, well, I think that's what because I was going with
- 1:51:37Francesca because I knew you were gonna go.
- 1:51:40So I could not steal yours, but I'm gonna stay in my family
- 1:51:45since all my outside, the family stuff got taken away from me
- 1:51:47tonight. And I'm gonna give my heart.
- 1:51:50We promise to my daughter, Michelle who is an author now.
- 1:51:53She's got a book out, rushing the Box.
- 1:51:57Dumb, it's on Amazon. And so please check her out.
- 1:52:02Very proud of you young lady. And if you want to help her out
- 1:52:07and don't want to like deal with Amazon.
- 1:52:09Text me. I'll send you the link.
- 1:52:11No doubt about thatso help. Support my baby girl, graduate
- 1:52:15to get the link posted with the announcement of this week.
- 1:52:18So yeah, I'll do that. Definitely.
- 1:52:20I actually already have the link for the book.
- 1:52:22So I got it. All right well, Thank you one.
- 1:52:27Thank you all for another fun week.
- 1:52:30Hope you enjoyed that segment. We will.
- 1:52:31I think we're all going to chuckle at random times for the
- 1:52:34rest of the week. Just thinking about things that
- 1:52:36were said, but beyond that have a great week.
- 1:52:40Have a great weekend and we'll see you all again soon.
- 1:52:43Have a good night guys. When the lights, come on the
- 1:52:49road. I wouldn't be here but we're
- 1:53:19here to start burning. You.
- 1:53:20Got it on your shapes. Gotta catch Stars.
- 1:53:23Show you how to fight for? Sure.
- 1:53:24So you are you lack experience, but still you want to tell and
- 1:53:28who was that? You talk to yourself to got a
- 1:53:30small heads prevail when the backbone strong, gotta keep it
- 1:53:34from a notebook. Won't last long.
- 1:53:37That's a building sell the session and if you don't check
- 1:53:40yourself and that's wrong. Just trying to give you the rich
- 1:53:43asshole. So why do you keep cutting us
- 1:53:46off to a small? Or we put it in slow-mo.
- 1:53:48What you fast for athletics, the task force.
