Week one of January’s theme of 5 DIRECTORS ends with our last of David Lynch’s first three films and it’s one that he sometimes disavows but also one that led to a long standing relationship with actor Kyle MacLachlan. It seemed like it was nothing less than a miracle to adapt Frank Herbert’s “DUNE” to film considering the brick wall that many directors encountered upon attempt. Denis Villeneuve finally pulled something off but for the longest time the lone attempt at adapting this imaginative science fiction story rested solely on the shoulders of David Lynch.
