- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome into Jagsam on this Thursday. I'm Kannannie Stevens. We're
- 0:20Speaker 1: getting ready for a week eight of the season. The
- 0:22Speaker 1: Jaguars are going to take on the Packers this weekend
- 0:24Speaker 1: at home. So let's kick things off with our big
- 0:26Speaker 1: things today. Big Thing number one, best of the best.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Does Peterson talking yesterday about what players he's going to
- 0:33Speaker 1: be playing on defense as some players are coming off
- 0:35Speaker 1: the injured reserve this week, and he says to him,
- 0:38Speaker 1: you have to play the best eleven players. But I
- 0:41Speaker 1: do still think that there's enough of a rotational piece
- 0:46Speaker 1: for those guys.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I think that's one of the positions.
- 0:49Speaker 3: That's gotten better.
- 0:50Speaker 4: You know, the last couple of weeks hasn't been the linebacker.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I think Devin in the middle gotten better than Trell.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We know he's improved, and now with the additional Foyer
- 0:58Speaker 1: coming back, if he's ready to go, I think he's
- 1:00Speaker 1: got your combinations back if you want.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Ran.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That specific question was about whether Ventrel Miller and Froy
- 1:08Speaker 1: Alucan would be playing together as they saw Obviously the
- 1:12Speaker 1: way Ryan Nielson rotates his defense, I'm sure we'll see
- 1:14Speaker 1: everybody out there, but whether that would be a rotation.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I think we might see them actually together. We've talked
- 1:18Speaker 1: about this and I think it might actually happen.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, yes, make that happen, because listen, you
- 1:24Speaker 4: know have to be a football expert. You don't have
- 1:26Speaker 4: to be a scout and burn up the table to
- 1:28Speaker 4: see that Ventrel Miller belongs on the field. The way
- 1:32Speaker 4: that he arrives at the ball, Guys go backward when
- 1:36Speaker 4: he hits them. He's a young player with a lot
- 1:37Speaker 4: of energy.
- 1:38Speaker 5: John.
- 1:39Speaker 4: He makes tons of tackles. I'm sure he makes mistakes
- 1:42Speaker 4: as well, but he's a guy that the more you
- 1:44Speaker 4: play him, the better he'll get. Foye Lui hun comes back.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Is your most accomplished linebacker. Why wouldn't you have them
- 1:52Speaker 4: on the field.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 7: We've been talking a lot this year about, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 7: Jaguar's knee, guys who make plays in big situations, and
- 1:59Speaker 7: I feel like Ventrel Miller has shown he's that guy.
- 2:03Speaker 7: He's a football player, he's instinctive. He seems to be
- 2:06Speaker 7: in the right place at the right time. I think
- 2:08Speaker 7: I think it's a positive for this defense in the
- 2:10Speaker 7: next few weeks. I don't know if Foyer's back this week.
- 2:12Speaker 7: I don't know if Dewey Winards back this week, but
- 2:15Speaker 7: don't all those guys sort of fit that of guys
- 2:18Speaker 7: who are good football player and I'd say great athletes,
- 2:22Speaker 7: you know, but they're in.
- 2:24Speaker 6: The right situation, they make plays.
- 2:26Speaker 7: You could see the middle of the defense get a
- 2:28Speaker 7: lot better in next couple weeks because of that.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Our second big thing going to be stay the course.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We're talking about some of those players returning to this team,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and we've also talked about taking it one week at
- 2:38Speaker 1: a time, right, but we've seen this team go on
- 2:40Speaker 1: runs before, specifically in the twenty twenty two season. Andrew
- 2:43Speaker 1: Wingard addressed that what the differences between the teams.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Were when we get into these late, you know, early
- 2:50Speaker 3: November games. I think that's when we get dangerous. Honestly.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Teams are starting to look at playoff pictures, they're starting
- 2:58Speaker 3: to look at.
- 2:58Speaker 8: Divisional races, and they're not really thinking about us, and
- 3:00Speaker 8: I think that's when we can, you know, sort of
- 3:02Speaker 8: jump on teams. And that's really what we did late
- 3:04Speaker 8: in twenty two. I mean jumped on Dallas, jumped on
- 3:07Speaker 8: Baltimore or stuff like that.
- 3:09Speaker 3: So it's not gonna take I mean if you were
- 3:12Speaker 3: to look at it on paper, you'd.
- 3:13Speaker 8: Say, oh, god, we played we play Minnesota, we played
- 3:16Speaker 8: Green Bay, we played Detroit.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But it's like, we have such a talented team.
- 3:20Speaker 8: And I've been on bad teams here, like bad teams
- 3:23Speaker 8: that you knew were gonna lose, like you literally had
- 3:26Speaker 8: no chance. But this team is seriously so good and
- 3:29Speaker 8: I can't remember who last it. But back to your
- 3:31Speaker 8: point about being away from it, like this team is
- 3:33Speaker 8: damn good. I can get a damn good team. It's
- 3:36Speaker 8: just you gotta go make plays. And I think we
- 3:40Speaker 8: didn't make plays early, but you take that variance, the
- 3:44Speaker 8: things are gonna flip. And as long as we just
- 3:46Speaker 8: stayed you know, ten toes down and just put up
- 3:49Speaker 8: to push all the chips into the metal, we're gonna
- 3:50Speaker 8: be fine.
- 3:52Speaker 3: John.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think Dey's confidence alone has me gassed up. I'm
- 3:55Speaker 1: believing in them again. He's saying that, you know, when
- 3:58Speaker 1: they made that come back in twenty twenty two, nothing
- 4:00Speaker 1: really changed. They just took it one game at a time,
- 4:02Speaker 1: as they always say. But you know, maybe some of
- 4:04Speaker 1: the pressure being on other teams, they can feed off
- 4:06Speaker 1: of that and kind of underestimating the team is that
- 4:10Speaker 1: something you agree with or what.
- 4:11Speaker 6: Do you think of his take? He's the best.
- 4:13Speaker 7: I mean he look, I don't know if he's the
- 4:15Speaker 7: fastest guy in the world and if he's the best
- 4:17Speaker 7: safety I've ever seen, but.
- 4:20Speaker 6: He gets it. I'm not sure there's ever.
- 4:22Speaker 7: Been a guy who has been so embraced by the
- 4:24Speaker 7: fan base because they get it. The best thing he said,
- 4:28Speaker 7: and probably off topic, he was asked about being the
- 4:31Speaker 7: savior yesterday and it was a little sarcastic, and you
- 4:35Speaker 7: could see him thinking back to his rookie year and
- 4:37Speaker 7: his second year when the fans just couldn't stand him,
- 4:40Speaker 7: and he goes, boy, it's changed, that's new, you know.
- 4:43Speaker 7: But look, he's right, And the reason it's important for
- 4:48Speaker 7: him to be back is because he can say what
- 4:51Speaker 7: he said in that SoundBite to the players and they
- 4:55Speaker 7: get it. They believe him. He's a leader. They know
- 4:58Speaker 7: he's here for the right reason, playing for the right reasons.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Getting him back's key, and Brian, he's right. You know,
- 5:05Speaker 7: it's only a few plays that had them out of
- 5:07Speaker 7: this thing. A few plays could get them back into
- 5:10Speaker 7: this thing.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Well, yeah, they lost on opening day in Miami at
- 5:13Speaker 4: a field goal to a field goal at the final
- 5:16Speaker 4: play of the game, and they lost on the last
- 5:18Speaker 4: play of the game in Houston. So you can make
- 5:20Speaker 4: the case they're certainly better than the record indicates they are.
- 5:24Speaker 4: They just haven't played well enough to get it done.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Getting Dewy back, Tyson Campbell's on the field. Foyer should
- 5:29Speaker 4: be back here in the next week or so. To
- 5:31Speaker 4: get these guys back in the middle of the defense
- 5:32Speaker 4: would certainly help them out. But I do think it's
- 5:34Speaker 4: the confidence that he brings, that the understanding of the
- 5:37Speaker 4: defense that he brings, and just effect that. If you
- 5:40Speaker 4: recall the Baltimore game, even the Dallas game, he was
- 5:43Speaker 4: in on Nickel and Dine packages, making plays on third
- 5:47Speaker 4: and fourth downs that got the ball back for the
- 5:49Speaker 4: Jaguars offense. He was a critical player in that run.
- 5:52Speaker 4: So when he says it, he says it with authority,
- 5:55Speaker 4: and they haven't had enough authority in that locker room
- 5:57Speaker 4: in recent weeks.
- 5:58Speaker 7: Ky, there are some player Sorry I interrupted, I got
- 6:01Speaker 7: everybody off track. There are some players who everybody worries
- 6:04Speaker 7: about what they can't do with Dewey. Embrace what he
- 6:08Speaker 7: does do and what he does bring back, and he's
- 6:10Speaker 7: one of those guys.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Absolutely, hopefully we see him sooner than later. Possibility he'll
- 6:14Speaker 1: be in this week against the Packers. Our final big
- 6:16Speaker 1: thing today is going to be a lot versus a little.
- 6:18Speaker 1: We've talked a lot about takeaways, how this team hasn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: had a lot of takeaways. Packers have had a lot
- 6:23Speaker 1: of takeaways seventeen so far this season, but they've also
- 6:25Speaker 1: turned the ball over a lot. Jordan Love throwing some
- 6:27Speaker 1: interceptions for sure. So Brian, when you're looking at the
- 6:30Speaker 1: differences between takeaways and turnovers and whatnot, do you think
- 6:33Speaker 1: that can play a key factor.
- 6:34Speaker 4: In this game. Well, I do, And since you talked
- 6:36Speaker 4: about their defense, I'll stay on that side of the ball.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence last year had fourteen interceptions and seven fumbles.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Seven we can remember some of the big ones. The
- 6:45Speaker 4: one here against the Baltimore Ravens at the end of
- 6:47Speaker 4: the first half, you know, sticks out in my mind.
- 6:50Speaker 4: He has only turned the ball over three times this
- 6:53Speaker 4: year and lack on wood there. Brian had no fumbles none.
- 6:58Speaker 4: So the point is is that one of the reasons
- 7:00Speaker 4: why I have confidence in their ability to go play
- 7:04Speaker 4: with the Packers is because the quarterback is playing well.
- 7:07Speaker 4: He's played well the last three weeks, and he's protecting
- 7:10Speaker 4: the football. He talked about it yesterday when he met
- 7:12Speaker 4: with the media, talked about the drills that he goes through,
- 7:15Speaker 4: but the mental approach to protecting the ball, like putting
- 7:19Speaker 4: two hands on it when you get outside the pocket
- 7:21Speaker 4: and not taking the other hand off of it until
- 7:23Speaker 4: you're literally ready to throw the football. It's the little
- 7:26Speaker 4: things that make the biggest difference, and he's really keyed
- 7:30Speaker 4: in on the little things right now.
- 7:32Speaker 7: Ye, I very much agree with Brian. It's a overlooked
- 7:36Speaker 7: story because they haven't won, but he's done a great
- 7:39Speaker 7: job protecting the ball, and to me, that's the key
- 7:42Speaker 7: to this game. On Sunday, Packers seventeen takeaways through these
- 7:46Speaker 7: games is served, especially considering they didn't have one last
- 7:49Speaker 7: week and the Jaguars only have two defensive takeaways.
- 7:53Speaker 6: You're not gonna win in the NFL.
- 7:56Speaker 7: You're gonna be two and five if you have two
- 7:57Speaker 7: defensive takeaways after seven games.
- 8:00Speaker 6: If they can reverse that, you can stay in this game.
- 8:02Speaker 4: And there's a reason why you should be optimistic about
- 8:04Speaker 4: their ability, and that is in the four games since
- 8:07Speaker 4: Jordan lov Raturny has thirteen touchdown passes and a reason
- 8:10Speaker 4: to be very wary of what he's capable of. But
- 8:12Speaker 4: he also has eight interceptions in that same time framet,
- 8:16Speaker 4: so he's a risk taker and he's going to make
- 8:18Speaker 4: him throws. Maybe this is the week that Cisco or
- 8:22Speaker 4: Tyson holds the ball and gives the offense an extra
- 8:25Speaker 4: possession on the other side of the field.
- 8:27Speaker 1: There will be opportunities, just have to take advantage. Say
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's here on Jagsam, we're going to dive a little
- 8:32Speaker 1: bit deeper into that matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Jag Zam is brought to you by Seafield's First, Jacksonville's
- 8:49Speaker 1: premier luxury autogroup. You can head over the Fields Auto
- 8:52Speaker 1: dot com to check it out. Welcome back into jags Aam.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It is week eight. As I mentioned, it hard to
- 9:00Speaker 1: believe at this point, but we are getting there and
- 9:02Speaker 1: they're taking on the Green Bay Packers this week, which
- 9:04Speaker 1: is certainly going to be a challenge. The NFC North
- 9:06Speaker 1: in general is going to be a challenge for this
- 9:08Speaker 1: Jaguars team. So I listened into some of their media
- 9:11Speaker 1: availability yesterday kind of trying to feel out where they
- 9:13Speaker 1: are at exactly. Matt Lafleur obviously very well researched on
- 9:17Speaker 1: every team he faces, but he talked a little bit
- 9:19Speaker 1: about what Trevor Lawrence.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Brings to a game.
- 9:22Speaker 9: I see an elite quarterback that's capable of making every
- 9:26Speaker 9: throw and then he can beat you with his legs.
- 9:28Speaker 9: So I don't think there's anything he can't do. I
- 9:32Speaker 9: think he is an elite guy and he's got some
- 9:35Speaker 9: weapons around him, and like I said earlier, I just
- 9:40Speaker 9: think it's gonna be a good challenge for us.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Obviously very respectful of Trevor's talents, Brian, I sometimes forget
- 9:46Speaker 1: to what that Trevor does run right, but he can
- 9:49Speaker 1: scramble a little bit, and I'm like, oh, yeah, that's
- 9:50Speaker 1: something you have to think about with him, for sure.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And I think he's even gotten better this year because
- 9:54Speaker 1: when he does scramble, he still is looking to throw
- 9:56Speaker 1: the football, which I think is an evolution of his game.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I've noticed that is a step that he's taken.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Since last season.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Without a doubt.
- 10:02Speaker 4: His mobility outside the pocket, I mean, he's not Lamar
- 10:05Speaker 4: Jackson by any stretch of the imagination, but he can
- 10:08Speaker 4: keep things alive and with a guy like Brian Thomas
- 10:11Speaker 4: breaking down the field, that's a really important thing. I
- 10:15Speaker 4: just I went back and I watched the throw again
- 10:17Speaker 4: to Brian Thomas, and when you see Christian Gonzalez arm
- 10:22Speaker 4: outstretched over his shoulder, you marvel at the fact that
- 10:25Speaker 4: the ball just went right inside that and somehow Brian
- 10:28Speaker 4: was able to look up over his shoulder with the
- 10:30Speaker 4: arm there, running full speed, falling and still get the ball.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I mean, it was a phenomenal catch, but it was
- 10:37Speaker 4: a great throw, and it's hard not to say he
- 10:41Speaker 4: has elite traits when you see that throw.
- 10:43Speaker 7: Yeah, it became so vogue when he had one bad
- 10:47Speaker 7: game where he missed two guys right, and that was
- 10:49Speaker 7: against the Texans.
- 10:50Speaker 5: I thought just as impressive. A throw the other day
- 10:53Speaker 5: was a throw to Christian Kirk over.
- 10:54Speaker 7: The top of the twenty four yard I him if
- 10:56Speaker 7: it was a safety or linebacker, but he had to
- 10:58Speaker 7: throw to a level between the enders.
- 11:01Speaker 5: At a time when the game didn't feel very good
- 11:04Speaker 5: for the Jaguars. That was a huge play. Look, he's
- 11:07Speaker 5: coming along.
- 11:10Speaker 7: You talk about above the x's and o's type plays.
- 11:12Speaker 7: To me, that was an above the x's and o's
- 11:14Speaker 7: type play. Uh, it's a play you should make when
- 11:17Speaker 7: every quarterback makes it. He's starting to do that stuff
- 11:22Speaker 7: and you just need to see it more consistently and
- 11:25Speaker 7: you know, keep growing and all those things we've been
- 11:27Speaker 7: talking about.
- 11:27Speaker 5: But he's he's he's playing better, excuse he is, and
- 11:30Speaker 5: at a time.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Now where obviously you've seen what Brian Thomas Junior can do,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but a lot of talent is around him, which is
- 11:36Speaker 1: I think helping him elevate his game. David McKinney, one
- 11:39Speaker 1: of the safeties for the Packers, spoke about the threat
- 11:41Speaker 1: that BTJ is and what they look for with the
- 11:44Speaker 1: game play.
- 11:48Speaker 3: A lot.
- 11:48Speaker 10: He gives him his a vertical threat for them. Obviously,
- 11:52Speaker 10: he's a guy that has great hair and he's got
- 11:54Speaker 10: goot speed. So I think it helps their their offense
- 11:57Speaker 10: a lot. And he's another playmaker. Uh that's you know,
- 12:01Speaker 10: that's added to what they already have. So like I said, man,
- 12:05Speaker 10: they got a talented offense man, and they got some
- 12:07Speaker 10: they got some really good guys. It's just been that
- 12:10Speaker 10: small you know, sometimes it just happens. I I I
- 12:13Speaker 10: I've been in New York where you know there were
- 12:15Speaker 10: games where you know it it came down to three
- 12:18Speaker 10: points or seven points, and sometimes you just don't win
- 12:21Speaker 10: those games.
- 12:22Speaker 3: And but it doesn't say, uh, it doesn't you know,
- 12:26Speaker 3: tell all this the the whole story.
- 12:28Speaker 10: So, uh, we definitely understand that we we n we
- 12:30Speaker 10: know that, you know, they're capable of of winning these.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Games, they just haven't and sometimes it's just how things
- 12:35Speaker 6: shake out.
- 12:36Speaker 10: But uh, we do know that they have a very
- 12:38Speaker 10: talented team and we gotta, you know, make sure that
- 12:40Speaker 10: we are on our p's and q's.
- 12:43Speaker 1: John when you hear you know, obviously they're talking about
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Jaguars kind of losing some of these one score games,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but also the talent that's around and we've seen Brian
- 12:51Speaker 1: Thomas Junior, but now to see that it's coming out
- 12:53Speaker 1: on tape and and teams are aware of the presence
- 12:56Speaker 1: and the speed that he brings. I think that'll kind
- 12:58Speaker 1: of lead to some other things elsewhere on the offense
- 13:01Speaker 1: because of the respect that Brian's now getting.
- 13:03Speaker 7: Well, it was a couple of things. This will be
- 13:06Speaker 7: Brian's next step, meaning now teams are very aware of him.
- 13:10Speaker 7: They'll shade defenses to him a little bit. That hinders
- 13:14Speaker 7: some guys and some guys play right through that, and
- 13:17Speaker 7: you get the idea for Brian Thomas Junior because not
- 13:21Speaker 7: like teams haven't been aware of him, the Patriots, we're
- 13:25Speaker 7: aware of him, and he still made plays through that.
- 13:28Speaker 7: You can't double cover a guy in every scheme on
- 13:31Speaker 7: every play. I think they'll still continue to throwing the
- 13:34Speaker 7: ball when it's there, but absolutely it's gonna help Christian
- 13:38Speaker 7: Kirk and Evan Ingram, maybe even Gabe Davis. This dynamic
- 13:43Speaker 7: Brian is the next step when you get a great player,
- 13:47Speaker 7: he shows he's great, and then you have to show
- 13:49Speaker 7: how they're going to adapt when defenses start playing that
- 13:53Speaker 7: guy differently. This is a very quick evolution, but the
- 13:56Speaker 7: next step in the evolution for BTJ.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Well, and it's a big step for Trevor Lawrence as well,
- 14:00Speaker 4: because that guy McKinney leads the NFL with five interceptions
- 14:04Speaker 4: in seven games, So you can bet that they're going
- 14:07Speaker 4: to have him wherever seven is and the quarterback is
- 14:10Speaker 4: going to have to throw in that direction Kui, which
- 14:12Speaker 4: means you're going to be very smart. You're going to
- 14:16Speaker 4: have to make good throws. There's going to be some
- 14:18Speaker 4: high percentage throws and some of those Let's take a shot.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Because he's that good. We got our best, their best.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Let's go for it. But to your point, if he's
- 14:28Speaker 4: over there covering Brian Thomas Jr. Someone else is going
- 14:31Speaker 4: to have an opportunity to make a play, which should
- 14:33Speaker 4: open things up. Absolutely.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Let's turn to the defensive side of football. Obviously, Jordan
- 14:37Speaker 1: love some of that injury and the season opener, but
- 14:40Speaker 1: he's been back recently and been playing pretty well and
- 14:42Speaker 1: showing that ability that we've seen and what people are
- 14:45Speaker 1: expecting him to be in terms of a great quarterback.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He talked a little bit yesterday about the offensive philosophy
- 14:50Speaker 1: he's working.
- 14:50Speaker 6: With, the explosive plays.
- 14:53Speaker 2: The big play kind of mentality that we have is
- 14:56Speaker 2: to go hunt those explosive plays, and you know, we
- 14:59Speaker 2: got a lot of play makers who were making some
- 15:01Speaker 2: big time plays, so that's very exciting to see. But yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing for us is finding that consistency,
- 15:08Speaker 2: trying to go and not have any drives, whereas those
- 15:10Speaker 2: three and out drives where you're out there quick and
- 15:13Speaker 2: back on the sideline. So just trying to build on
- 15:14Speaker 2: every little thing and keep stack of the details will
- 15:17Speaker 2: be huge for us.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Jordan Love focusing on those explosive plays. We've certainly seen
- 15:22Speaker 1: a lot of those. I know, defense around here likes
- 15:24Speaker 1: to do nothing cheap, nothing deep, but they're going to
- 15:26Speaker 1: try to go deep on you. And it's a matter
- 15:27Speaker 1: of dealing with that.
- 15:28Speaker 4: They have speed, I mean, just they have speed all
- 15:31Speaker 4: over their receiver corps. And this guy's got the arm
- 15:34Speaker 4: and just you know, I just an appreciation for the
- 15:37Speaker 4: fact that he sat the bench for a couple of
- 15:39Speaker 4: years behind Aaron Rodgers. So if you go back more
- 15:43Speaker 4: than thirty what farve got there? At ninety ninety two
- 15:48Speaker 4: two he arrived in Green Bay. So Brett Farr to
- 15:51Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love, Yeah, thirty plus years, they've
- 15:57Speaker 4: only had three quarterbacks. They have a great run going
- 16:01Speaker 4: and this guy, if you watch the playoff game that
- 16:04Speaker 4: he helped them winning Dallas last year, you realized he
- 16:08Speaker 4: was that level of quarterback.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Yeah, the Packers kind of show you.
- 16:12Speaker 7: And this is not I mean, I'm a players guy.
- 16:14Speaker 7: Players absolutely are the NFL. Sometimes you can't listen to
- 16:18Speaker 7: players if you want to go to a great organization.
- 16:20Speaker 7: Meaning Far didn't like it when they brought in Aaron Rodgers,
- 16:23Speaker 7: Rodgers didn't like when they brought in Jordan Love. It's
- 16:25Speaker 7: not your team, so we're gonna do what's best. Also,
- 16:31Speaker 7: Packers of Jordan Love did a great thing the most
- 16:33Speaker 7: franchises don't do anymore, which is fans didn't like the
- 16:38Speaker 7: pick because they wanted receivers ere Aaron Rodgers, Fine, you
- 16:42Speaker 7: think that, and now we're going to run the organization.
- 16:44Speaker 7: So credit to the Packers.
- 16:46Speaker 5: They did that.
- 16:46Speaker 7: And with Jordan Love, right now, this is still the
- 16:50Speaker 7: time to get him. He's great, He's going to be great.
- 16:53Speaker 7: He is still throwing passes that allow you an opportunity.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Javers have had opportunity for interceptions this season. You have
- 17:01Speaker 7: to hold the ball, right, Yeah, that's part of it.
- 17:04Speaker 7: So if they do that, you know there are quarterbacks
- 17:08Speaker 7: in this league who defenses will say, he's going to
- 17:11Speaker 7: give us a couple of chances.
- 17:12Speaker 6: We have to take advantage of the chances.
- 17:13Speaker 4: He can run. He doesn't want to run, he wants
- 17:16Speaker 4: to stand in the pocket. He has such great confidence
- 17:20Speaker 4: in his arm, and it's a great arm. And you've
- 17:22Speaker 4: got these receivers Read and Dobbs, I mean they and
- 17:25Speaker 4: Christian Watson, who's that six foot four guy who is
- 17:28Speaker 4: kind of like Brian Thomas. He'll get down the field
- 17:31Speaker 4: and then use his length to elevate and make a
- 17:33Speaker 4: catch over a defensive back. So they've got it all,
- 17:37Speaker 4: sure do.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Its gonna be a tough one, for sure.
- 17:39Speaker 5: We'll keep an eye on things.
- 17:40Speaker 1: We'll tell you after the break what we think the
- 17:41Speaker 1: headlines are going to be on Monday morning after the game.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Setteth his Lord's trusted and reliable moving company. Seteth how
- 17:58Speaker 1: to be the official moving company of the check smel
- 18:00Speaker 1: Jaguars to get a guaranteed quote? Is it suteth dot
- 18:02Speaker 1: com slash Jacks. We're going to do our little our
- 18:13Speaker 1: best at predicting the future today as we think about
- 18:16Speaker 1: this game against the Packers, We're going to try to
- 18:18Speaker 1: think what we think the headlines will be on Monday. So, Brian,
- 18:21Speaker 1: when you're looking forward to Monday, what do you think
- 18:22Speaker 1: we'll be talking about?
- 18:23Speaker 3: Well?
- 18:24Speaker 4: I left the locker room yesterday with the distinct sense
- 18:27Speaker 4: that this team understood what was in front of them.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Not just the fact that the Packers are five and
- 18:31Speaker 4: two and they start a stretch with the Eagles and
- 18:33Speaker 4: the Vikings and the Texans and the Lions, but that
- 18:36Speaker 4: they're capable if they dial in and play their best football,
- 18:40Speaker 4: which they haven't done yet this year. So just the sense,
- 18:45Speaker 4: the commitment level, right, the purpose that I heard in guys' voices.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I say, they're not packing it in right. The rest
- 18:51Speaker 4: of the league may say, well, they're two and five,
- 18:53Speaker 4: and you saw this week that there was all sorts
- 18:55Speaker 4: of proposed trades for the Jaguars because they couldn't think
- 18:58Speaker 4: too far forward. They might as well load Christian Kirk
- 19:01Speaker 4: or whoever. This team's not packing it in U And
- 19:04Speaker 4: that is my headline for Monday. I listen, we all
- 19:11Speaker 4: believe this team would be a contender to what level.
- 19:14Speaker 4: We weren't sure based on the way last season ended.
- 19:17Speaker 4: We weren't entirely stupid. Because they start to and five,
- 19:20Speaker 4: there's on this team. So I'm gonna I'm gonna double
- 19:26Speaker 4: down here and say that we see with some guys
- 19:28Speaker 4: coming back, we starting to see more of what this
- 19:30Speaker 4: team is capable of playing like uh and and the
- 19:34Speaker 4: Drags are happy on Monday.
- 19:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I have a feeling, right.
- 19:37Speaker 7: I went with maybe just maybe because I'm I'm predicting
- 19:40Speaker 7: a win and you know, I think they're in a
- 19:44Speaker 7: tough situation the Jags, because they are getting better and
- 19:48Speaker 7: they're playing more like themselves, they're also coming up on
- 19:51Speaker 7: a very difficult stage of the schedule that their best
- 19:56Speaker 7: at times may not be good enough because they're playing
- 19:58Speaker 7: other teams, but also are their best.
- 20:01Speaker 6: But I think they'll play well Sunday.
- 20:02Speaker 7: I think they'll pull out because they're at home, and
- 20:05Speaker 7: then maybe, just maybe they can get back in. And
- 20:07Speaker 7: I've been saying all week, this is a chance to
- 20:10Speaker 7: give themselves a chance. It doesn't mean they're in the
- 20:13Speaker 7: playoff race. We still can't talk playoffs next week at
- 20:16Speaker 7: three and five, but it at least gets it to
- 20:18Speaker 7: where maybe one more and you can talk about it.
- 20:20Speaker 5: So I think they'll play well. I wonder I worry
- 20:25Speaker 5: that they started too late, and I hope I'm wrong.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Well, if they get to win, we're talking about the
- 20:32Speaker 4: next week, and if they don't, then all of a sudden,
- 20:34Speaker 4: everyone else starts talking about free agency and the draft
- 20:38Speaker 4: and all that stuff. You know, it's much better for
- 20:40Speaker 4: them to win this week, Yes it is.
- 20:42Speaker 5: Let's hope that's true.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I went with it's a trap because as much as
- 20:46Speaker 1: I don't think trap games are fully true, I do
- 20:49Speaker 1: think sometimes people when they are contending, can look ahead
- 20:52Speaker 1: in their schedule, specifically at other you know, division games
- 20:55Speaker 1: at which the Packers have coming up, and I don't
- 20:58Speaker 1: think they will overlook the Jaguars comp But if I
- 21:00Speaker 1: think the Jaguars come out to the strength that they can,
- 21:03Speaker 1: especially with some of these defensive players that they are
- 21:05Speaker 1: hopefully getting back this week, I think if you come
- 21:08Speaker 1: out and you look a little bit different than maybe
- 21:09Speaker 1: they've looked on tape, I think that sometimes takes a
- 21:12Speaker 1: little while to get adjusted to you. I'm not saying
- 21:14Speaker 1: the Packers can't win that game by any means, but
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think if the Jaguars come out look a little
- 21:18Speaker 1: bit more feisty than they have in some of these
- 21:20Speaker 1: other matchups, that this will be close and down.
- 21:22Speaker 6: To the wire.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Last time the Jaguars beat the Green Bay Packers was
- 21:26Speaker 4: two thousand and eight. It was the first year that
- 21:28Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers was the starting quarterback, so it's been a while.
- 21:32Speaker 4: It would be good for this team to beat this
- 21:35Speaker 4: heritage team. And by the way, when the Packers travel,
- 21:39Speaker 4: they travel well, it will be there. Probably there will
- 21:42Speaker 4: be a lot of Green Bay fans in attendance. So
- 21:44Speaker 4: it would be nice to get up, give yourself a
- 21:46Speaker 4: chance to get the win and send them all home.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Quiet, take them out of the take them out, take
- 21:50Speaker 1: the noise out of the stadium. For that say with
- 21:52Speaker 1: us here, we're gonna tell you what's coming up the
- 21:53Speaker 1: rest of the week before the game on Sunday. Jags fans,
- 22:04Speaker 1: if you want to customize Jaguars furniture for your home,
- 22:06Speaker 1: check out zipcha dot com to rouse all the customizable options.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Zip Chair is furniture for fans. Also, this week's game
- 22:12Speaker 1: brought to you by Florida Blue, proud to be the
- 22:13Speaker 1: exclusive health insurance partner and supporter of the Jacksonville community
- 22:17Speaker 1: as the official community partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 22:22Speaker 11: Watching him play, you know electric, you know, getting to
- 22:25Speaker 11: the ball, they call him missile and all that stuff.
- 22:28Speaker 11: You know, it's just definitely contagious, the nage that he brings,
- 22:30Speaker 11: you know, still a young guy. Uh, just kind of
- 22:32Speaker 11: teaches him the nuances of the game. That's all he
- 22:34Speaker 11: really needs now, just understanding you know, where they're attacking
- 22:37Speaker 11: him and stuff. But bright spot for sure, and just
- 22:39Speaker 11: keep building on his game is gonna be a light
- 22:41Speaker 11: Syle player, so I'm gonna enjoy, you know, continue to
- 22:44Speaker 11: teach him and play alongside of him. Obviously, we have
- 22:47Speaker 11: a talented linebacker room. We got Devin he's playing well too,
- 22:50Speaker 11: so really watching them gonna make me step my.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Own game up.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Boy Luik and activated practicing again him with the team.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Talking about Ventrel Miller there and the energy to missile.
- 22:59Speaker 1: That's a good nickname. I hadn't heard that before, so
- 23:01Speaker 1: that's a good one. He does fly around the field
- 23:03Speaker 1: like a missile. And also Ventrell was in the background
- 23:05Speaker 1: listening to all the confidence was just cheasing like this,
- 23:08Speaker 1: So I'm excited to see Ventrell. He's actually gonna be
- 23:10Speaker 1: at All Access tonight, so if you want to string
- 23:13Speaker 1: sports free, he'll be great. John, who are you talking
- 23:15Speaker 1: to this week?
- 23:16Speaker 7: Talking to Tank Bigsbie, So we're both talking to your players,
- 23:21Speaker 7: Tank and the Missile.
- 23:22Speaker 4: And I talked to Matt House, the linebackers coach, about
- 23:24Speaker 4: Foyer's return and the rise of Ventrell Miller. So it's
- 23:28Speaker 4: all time, very good.
- 23:29Speaker 1: We love that all right, enjoy the game on Sunday
- 23:31Speaker 1: against the Packers. We'll be back on Monday to recap
- 23:34Speaker 1: everything for you.
