- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But you have received the Holy Spirit and he lives
- 1:28Speaker 2: within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you
- 1:32Speaker 2: what is true. Well, the Spirit teaches you everything you
- 1:36Speaker 2: need to know, and what he teaches is true. It
- 1:40Speaker 2: is not alive. So just as he has taught you,
- 1:45Speaker 2: remain in fellowship with Christ. First John, Chapter two, verse
- 1:51Speaker 2: twenty seven. How does the Holy Spirit speak? There are
- 1:56Speaker 2: many ways that the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: we'll look at three ways in which he warns us.
- 2:03Speaker 2: The Holy Spirit may give us just a nudge or
- 2:07Speaker 2: a feeling of something about to happen. Perhaps for some
- 2:11Speaker 2: of us, it's about impending danger. One account of this
- 2:16Speaker 2: happening was a believer who was driving toward an intersection,
- 2:20Speaker 2: and since a strong prompting by the Spirit to hit
- 2:24Speaker 2: his brakes. As soon as he did, a semi ran
- 2:28Speaker 2: the red light. He may have been killed had he
- 2:31Speaker 2: not been aware of the Holy Spirit's instruction to apply
- 2:36Speaker 2: his breaks. There are many examples of near accidents that
- 2:41Speaker 2: we have experienced, and sometimes without consciously knowing. Another form
- 2:48Speaker 2: of warning from the Holy Spirit is to keep us
- 2:51Speaker 2: from following temptation that will lead us to sin. There
- 2:56Speaker 2: are very few workwhile movies being produced, and Christians constantly
- 3:02Speaker 2: find themselves being checked by the Spirit about the choice
- 3:06Speaker 2: of going to see them. We are also warned by
- 3:10Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit as to the company we keep, the
- 3:14Speaker 2: activities we are involved in, and the manner in which
- 3:18Speaker 2: we behave in troubled times. In these cases, the Holy
- 3:24Speaker 2: Spirit gives a more defined warning. He simply says no,
- 3:31Speaker 2: when we're headed somewhere, we should not go. These two
- 3:36Speaker 2: are welcomed warnings because he speaks for our own protection.
- 3:42Speaker 2: When the Holy Spirit speaks to us, he may be
- 3:45Speaker 2: guiding us to truth where we may be willing to
- 3:49Speaker 2: accept less. It is possible that he tells us through
- 3:53Speaker 2: the written word. He may choose to speak to us
- 3:57Speaker 2: through another person, giving them wisdom and knowledge we may
- 4:02Speaker 2: need in a given situation. We do not control his methods. Rather,
- 4:08Speaker 2: we must learn to hear him in all manner of
- 4:12Speaker 2: speaking and obey his instruction.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us you've been listening to
- 4:21Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard K. You can hear
- 4:24Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as
- 4:28Speaker 1: Richard's entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would
- 4:32Speaker 1: like to acknowledge our theme song, how Great Is Thy Faithfulness,
- 4:36Speaker 1: from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album, unless otherwise.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian Standard Bible,
- 4:45Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 4:52Speaker 1: K include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 4:57Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 5:01Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 5:05Speaker 2: We know that he will never lead us away from
- 5:08Speaker 2: Jesus or his work. The Holy Spirit will always guide
- 5:13Speaker 2: us into what is true and holy. He is the
- 5:18Speaker 2: constant voice of God in dwelling every believer. When we
- 5:24Speaker 2: listen to him, we become obedient followers of the Lord
- 5:29Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. But you have received the Holy Spirit and
- 5:35Speaker 2: he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to
- 5:39Speaker 2: teach you what is true, for the Spirit teaches you
- 5:43Speaker 2: everything you need to know. And what he teaches is true.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It is not a lie. So just as he has
- 5:52Speaker 2: taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ First John two
- 5:59Speaker 2: twenty six. And that is today's Reflection on the Word.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 6:09Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 6:12Speaker 1: Richard k or Richard the entire team. This is Chuck
- 6:15Speaker 1: Christie saying thanks for listening to this edition Reflections on
- 6:19Speaker 1: the Word.
