Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football priests, Chad Jensen, and Zach Kilmerman.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: It is the Mile High Hotel podcast presented by prize picks.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host, Chad Jensen with me.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: My fellow football priest, you know him, you love him.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: He is Zach Kelverman, Zach.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't recall seeing anything today that was additional aftershocks of the Bonyx stuff that we were talking about last night, but I gotta tell you, Zach, I've kind of been surprised.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're all stoked about the Jonah Coleman pick.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm stoked about a number of the Broncos draft picks, but in particular, everyone's really excited about Coleman, but I wasn't really anticipating some of the hype that has come out surrounding him and not just from Broncos fans, by the way, like a colleague of ours on the on SI network, Justin mellow, for example, who runs NFL draft on SI, Zach, he tapped Jonah Coleman as a mid-round candidate for offensive rookie of the year.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: What do you make of that?
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: I could definitely see it in the Sean Peyton offense, if only because he could be the one A eventually.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard Mark Ingram comparisons going back to Peyton's time with the Saints.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: He kind of played the same typical style running style.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: I really like to pick his well chat, and then the Broncos set themselves up not just for insurance in 26 but Dobbins, but also maybe a long-term starter in 27 and beyond.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, it's, look,
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: In a vacuum or if he were drafted Zach and all the sudden he hits the roster as the number one running back.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy I could see buying for that.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: He did enough bites at the apple, but as it stands now he's the by the way, Justin God bless.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, there's no offense to our friend.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's the third running back on the depth chart, but see his argument would probably be Zach and it's a fair one.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what makes you think JK Dobbins is going to stay healthy.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: And because of that, he's going to get a bigger and bigger touch share.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that may be true.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, best predictor of future outcomes is past outcomes after all, Zack, but until it happens, like, I don't think you can really plan around injuries.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, when you're trying, it's like, who is it that for me, SPN Zack that does the stat stat predictions every summer, Mike Clay, Scott, is it Mike Clay that does those?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think it is either way.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't factor in when he's doing his season project stat projections for players.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't factor in injuries, and so it's hard to foresee those, and because of that ZEC, I mean, I could see it like this.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins averaged 15 carries per game in the 10 games.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was active last season with the Broncos in an effort to keep him fresh minimize the likelihood of injury, et cetera, I could see them shave in two or three carries off of his touch share and then maybe one or two carries off of RJ's touch share and given those to Jonah Coleman, I still just don't think that would be enough bites at the apple to get enough sample size to make him a, oh, Roy.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you're right on both counts there.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: I expect him to immediately leapfrog Tyler Badeh and Jolil McLaughlin.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: So he'll be getting at least a shot to see offensive snaps, legitimate ones to start because we all saw how much McLaughlin and Badeh played for Sean Payton in the Broncos.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing is though, you're right, you can't predict injuries and it's kind of, I don't know, a little morbid to do so, Chad.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: But if I feel like if there's anyone you can predict an injury with any player in the NFL, it would be JK Dobbins because he just he can't say healthy every single season he's injured.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I hope he does, but like I said, they have perfect insurance not just for this year, but for the future in the event that Dobbins ends up dobbinsing again in 26.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if he ends up dobbling, but look, this is not to say we're not excited about Jonah Coleman.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think his future is extremely bright.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's just some kind of almost that karmic synergy between Jonah Coleman and the Broncos.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like all that stuff with him.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: predicting, you know, it's almost like make believe in daydreaming at the podium with the 60 second overall pick, the Denver Broncos select Jonah Coleman and they hit it off so much in the meetings and all that stuff Really makes you feel all that much better about the pick, but his day in the sun Probably still at least a year out if not too
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, again, it could come sooner in the event and I'll knock wood just in case like I would for bone next for JK Dobbins, but in the event that Dobbins does get hurt, I don't we already saw RJ Harvey Chad in the RB1 role, and he's not cut out for that.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's more of the Darren Sprouls, and if you want to make the Saints comparisons, well, he could be the Darren Sprouls, and
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: uh... the rookie can be a uh... mark in-group type join a comment on a white bring part of that one hit happens due to the best of us it happens on the reg i still for whatever reason i don't know do you remember that stretch i went on where i could never remember tason hills name i'd be like that for you know that be why you corner back in the warlands that guy
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's weird stuff.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: You can never predict it.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: Pop of Bear checking in early on super chat.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: He was just with us on the show only a few short days ago.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Here he is again, brother.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you this Thursday evening.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing well and he says good evening Broncos country.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: it's so good to see you buddy.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate the support as always.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, just a few other, uh, real quick, here's that.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you hello, let's see what's going on in the chat tonight.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: We got David Young could say, and I thought the media gave Denver a low grade.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now they want to praise the draft picks.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: How funny.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the media did, right?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like Mel Kiper, what was it a C minus C plus I think and the C plus will get focus gave them a C minus there you go.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: So hey,
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: So what, I gave him an A.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: Is that game of what was it a B plus a B minus B plus A minus borderline?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it's hard to pick too many nits in this draft class for because the Broncos got such good value across the board.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, it's our, it's kind of ironic because that gut feelings that I started having about two weeks before the draft.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: And now I'll always have this feeling like I don't know why it took it so long to cook
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, don on me or whatever, but that feeling of end that first pick is probably going to be somebody no one's really expecting People aren't going to be all that stoked on it.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be someone we weren't really thinking of in that spot And of course, that's how it should go and that's the one pick Tyler on Yanam or how on your team on Yanam on Yanam.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure yet.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here we go.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: The full pronunciation of you seeing a correct one because Eric was trying to say
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say he was saying it's supposed to be on Yadam, but I'm like there's no A in there.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: We already had a Yadam, Isaac Yadam, and he was terrible.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll call him on your deem on that basis alone.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going, I don't want to go with another pronunciation, misshapp, but that was the only knit I can really picture with my B plus A minus kind of grade.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like they could have gone elsewhere, or maybe they could have held on a pic 62 and not traded, but I like what they did overall.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: And the Coleman pic and even the Red Murdock pic, they got such an amazing value that it's hard not to at least like if not love what Denver did.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Scott says, just call him TO.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, that works all of our TO.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, he's the only pick that I'm kind of like, but then again, it's like George Peyton has such a pension for knocking it out of the park with those second and slash date.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll call him the day two picks that kind of come out of left field that you weren't really anticipating.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, thanks.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you brother.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: We got
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: going to join us on a superstar segment on June 1st.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a gas.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: So we got we got made laid out.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: We got nause coming up next.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: Then the lady D then Michaela the next Monday after that those act is Memorial Day.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought, well, probably best not to schedule a superstar segment because
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: who knows.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: We might not even be streaming that night, depending on what you and I have cooking with our families and whatnot.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: So he's the next Monday after that, which is the first looking forward to that big dog going to be fun to have you on.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out here to William who says it's hilarious to me that we have a killer quarterback and we're still effin tied to other cubies.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's just annoying at this point.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen anything Zek tying the Broncos?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: I assume this is still more like Aaron Rogers.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Right, chatter.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: But have you seen anything more on that front today?
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's what I was assuming as well.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: William was talking about the Aaron Rogers, April Fool's, or not, story we haven't heard much beyond that.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: Although, like I mentioned yesterday, Chris Thomason of the Denver Gazette reported the Broncos so are looking for a veteran quarterback for, like a camp arm for the off season.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know who that's gonna be.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it's not Aaron Rogers.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it's like someone like Ben Denucci, you know, very low maintenance, and I won't more hog the spotlight from both.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: You ready for this, that?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: So, Mr. Producer, earning his paycheck from Texas A&M's actual media guide, number 11, on your own, yet him, on yet him.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: own yettum now stick with teo imagine the eye is a you and it's easy to get there in on on yettum.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for that Mr. producer and I'll try and keep that front of brain I'm going to have to put a little visual cue like I did for guard you low back in the day.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's called the ego.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's true big goes good.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: I like, but then it's like bit Orlando Franklin that's what they call the Orlando Franklin back in the day.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: But now I might have predated your you joined in the beat.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was was he on the team?
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't matter.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that I think the 2015 season might have been his last, but it's time for a new Big O'Neill.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not like he's super legendary status Big earn very nice to see you.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you're doing well stream guys in the house Raj.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: We got Todd.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: What's up dude?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see everybody
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Thompson's in the house.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, dude?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Good to have you with us.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: BLD, what's up, dude?
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Zach, I like the undrafted free agent crop this year.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: And in case you guys missed it, well, let me see if I can find an exact, was there anyone in particular from the undrafted ranks this season in Broncosign 14, although it's still unofficial.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: They've yet to announce that they always do announce it in a press release, but do any of these guys
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: A couple off the bat receiver, Dane Key, he's the brother of Devin Key, the Broncos all pro special teamer.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: They picked up a couple interesting receiver prospects because they didn't put too much attention there in the draft and also Tory in New York, the linebacker who I feel like if there's anyone in the undrafted crop that can make the 53, although it might be harder with the Murdoch pick, it would be York, but those are two that jump out to me.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, definitely York is interesting.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Eric would be actually a lot more excited about York, but he's not.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is the guy Eric seems to see as having the best path to the roster, Colby Katzys.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Because he was apparently hand-picked, returner guy for Darren Rizzi.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: And he was a very prolific returner.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos, you know, even if they plan on bringing Marvin Mims back Zack and he continues on as the punt returner as, you know, two time all pro.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: They do need another kick return option back there next to him, especially with the current new format of kick returns and Colby Catsis is a guy that could have some Some staying power and then there's the guy you mentioned, Zach, let me get rid of this box.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I wonder if that ad was going to go.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: I know my bad.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, where the commercial was actually was they were taking it, it didn't make any sense.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, sorry, jails of man Jack the fourth.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: What a name.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Manjack.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's almost sounds like like a superhero or something.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Cam Ross, the wide receiver from Virginia, Sean Brown, receiver Charlotte.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Here's Torian York, who really expected to be drafted, but he wasn't, and the Broncos chose.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Red Murdoch Zack over Tory in York, so, but they got there to have their cake and eat it to both guys end up in Denver.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be interesting to see kind of how it shakes out for him, but Considering you have three other undrafted guys in recent years on that depth chart,
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Level Bailey, Jordan Turner, Karine Reed.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, which one of those guys were you beating now?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not gonna be easy.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Basseau, they brought in a long snapper's act to compete with Mitchell Frabony, Dessan McCullough, a rush linebacker, kind of a speed rusher, if I recall, Tyler Miller, offensive tackle Iowa State, Gavin Ortega, offensive line Weaver State, Parker Robertson, a safety from Oklahoma State,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: will write a corner back from Tennessee and then Brent Austin.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what's interesting, Zach real quick.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Eric only gave, I think the best chances for the roster he gave any of these guys is something like 6%.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Brent Austin's up there, he gave him a 5% shot, but our friend I already mentioned him once, and he does great work, Justin mellow of NFL draft on SI.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: He tapped this kid,
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: diamond in the rough.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: So could be interesting, Bren Austin and let's keep that name in mind, and then Amari Harvey, a cornerback from Georgia.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: So there you have it.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of these guys could be practice squad candidates.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to pull it back up.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: Did it say six foot eight for Tyler Miller, the tackle?
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: You let me double check.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Miller six foot eight three twenty five thirty thirty four inch plus arms length.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: What a monster.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that hopefully develops.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's got some measurables, but there was a reason he went on drafted.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I have to figure out what that is.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: To sound fill in the house, what's going on, big dog, good to have you with us.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for the support as always, brother.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: He says, good evening, Chad Zach and Deacon Scott.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys think 7th round, safety, mile Scott?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Could replace JL Skinner or Devon Key?
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: Buckham MHH for Life Broncos for Life Zach, your thoughts.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, filled number one, there's a reason why the Broncos used a draft pick on him.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: He probably would have went on drafted maybe or, you know, there's a reason why they wanted him on the team or part of their draft class.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: He might have a chance to beat out Skinner, although Skinner has been in the system for years now.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to beat out Devon Key.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: If only because Key Chad, he's really good, obviously, on special teams and when he got on the field, I wrote a story about him today.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: I only realized he only played like 60 snaps on defense.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: Throughout the whole season, but I feel like when he was on the field, he was at least holding his own.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I feel like he deserves a bigger shot with PJ Lock on.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that Miles Scott's going to unseat him right away.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: I have a very strong feeling that no he will not.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Miles Scott is a long shot to make this roster, but he's a guy I could see percolating for a
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: who found a Brandon Jones, Devon Key, J.L.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Skinner, but they brought in Tyson Anderson.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's five deep.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to keep five safety.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: Which one of those guys gets bounced off by Miles Scott?
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: My answer to you is none of them.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think he ends up practicing squatting it and then developing.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: with the idea, Zach, of competing and becoming a factor in 2027.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: But we got that Dutchess checking in on super chat.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: I dear member, a bona fide Mount Rushmore super star.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: And a dear friend, she says, I vote for the newge.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think we will need to cut some good players that we like.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope Bo is okay.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, they need to get a quarterback in here like a camp arm caliber quarterback.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote an article last night, just kind of more for fun, but I was semi-serious, saying, hey, taste him, he'll still out there.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: And he, I know he hasn't really thrown the ball as an NFL quarterback for a couple of two, three years, whatever it's been.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: So it basically sent Sean Peyton was the head coach in New Orleans.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, you bring him in to serve as the camp arm for the summer and then, you know, hey transition him to offensive weapon, it'd be better than just bringing in a throwaway guy that you know you're going to cut in in August.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, what are your thoughts on Ben Danucci as she's saying, bring coming in for that role because that that makes a lot of sense too.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, if they want a roster spot, they can just easily cut Tyler today.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: Done.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's a quarterback right there.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't mind DeNucci because he knows the system.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: Again, he's low maintenance.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: He does he's not going to hog and he's sort of spotlight or whatever.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: But a couple other former Broncos quarterbacks that are still free agents.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they have any interest in playing this season, Chad, or participating in the off season.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: But Brett Ripon for one because he's very cerebral.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he can teach both something or, you know, he could pick up the system right away.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: who is a backup quarterback in Denver.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think in 2020, that season, he's a two-way kind of player.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: He can run and he can pass just like Bonyx.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about a throwaway quarterback more than likely like you mentioned, Chad, so we don't have to think too much anyway.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: Those are just two names that are on the open market right now.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, bo's going to be all right, Michaela, and that's part of part of this frustrating know it is in a little bit unnerving is the Broncos are going to air on the side of caution.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to make sure before they unwrap.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: their young franchise quarterback and kind of send them out to battle, so to speak, or feed them to the wolves as it were.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're making sure he's he's good to go, and so they're not going to rush it.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to make sure he's got all the time he needs for that ankle to be fully good to go.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: I would expect Zach, we don't even see him at all in the preseason, like why you don't need to.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, especially with the ankle, like his debut come in September,
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Not saying you don't see him on the field.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, training camp, all that stuff.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: The joint practices that are going to come all that stuff.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but let him make his debut in September.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Jean.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, dude?
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Become an member.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Was that today?
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Did you become a member today, brother?
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: The young Bert Reynolds is here, my friends.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know how to use YouTube.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, dude, I'll tell you from a podcast slash listening viewing entertainment perspective, YouTube is the bees knees and trounces Facebook by a mile.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: So all you got to do is spend a little bit of time on the platform.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty turnkey.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Don't think Zack, keep using YouTube.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's super intuitive and it's one of the best apps out there.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: I spend way too much of my screen time on YouTube.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that right now.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Same here.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Beware of the shorts.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the shorts.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: You get sucked into the loop and then you 30 minutes go by and you're like, wait a minute.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: I need to like punch in and live my life.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Have I given my child any attention today?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sitting here watching 30 minutes of reels that were absolutely meaningless.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so be careful because it's super addictive and it's fun, the short form video.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: But YouTube, the best for podcasting.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks, I'm glad that you made it over and thanks for becoming a member big dog.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: We love the brace girdle.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: All right, good stuff, lots of fun.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: back to the chat we go we got Eric Holt what's going on big dog great to have you with us he says hey guys give the Aaron Rogers talk a break by the way it's not us it's not us we're not the ones talking about I mean forced to talk about it at times yes because we this is a conversation we engage with our community so some for some folks sack it's still on their mind
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: And Zach is going to roll his eyes here, give Derek a call, Derek a Derek car call, and see what he has left.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: If not, ride with steady go Broncos.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Zach, this is like no offense Eric.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I love you big dog and friends can disagree.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: But this is as if you're assuming Bonix is down for the season, bro.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's not.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's missing voluntary mini camp and mandatory mini camp.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: No big deal.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Zach, it's not as easy to just call Derek Carr and see what's good.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: You'd have to then also acquire his rights from the Saints.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, now, neither Rogers nor Carr.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, it's uh, I don't know Eric, I'm not going to take this comment to you seriously.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what else we're supposed to talk about right now like the draft picks.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: We've beaten that to death, the bonus ankle, we've beaten that to death.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: The Aaron Rogers talk, we didn't start it like Chad said that was a profile ball talk.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: I guess rumor, you want to call it or whatever.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: I just think it's funny though.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: You want to give the Rogers talk a break, but then you want to talk about Derek Carr coming to the Broncos.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, man.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think I agree with what you said at the end there.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: If anything, they have their backup quarterback already.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: Love them or hate them.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's what Sean Peyton thinks and Sean Peyton loves them.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Some Jared Stitham.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't foresee a big move.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: A blockbuster type acquisition for this camp arm, so to speak.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: As the Brits would say, Zach, I think he was taking the piss.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning, I think he was kind of busting our chops and having a little bit of fun.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: But it's fun, it's fun, that's what we're here for.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: is to have fun Eric.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: We got the lady D checking in from the top broke with a very generous super chat.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: We love you lady D much love and respect give our best to David your husband.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: the Dolphins fan lung suffering, though he is, we love him.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: She says, hi, Chad and Zach.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I agree that I like the undrafted rookie line back here, Tori in York.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hit the like button, share and subscribe to the best podcast.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: It really helps, yes, it does.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Hello to everyone.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: She says in the chat, I'm so happy with our draft, and also the undrafted free agents, images for life, much love and respect.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, York is an interesting addition, Zach.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna read,
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: What Eric wrote a couple of quick sentences you're ready the fan favorite has a tough road to make the roster He's five foot 10 and plays at 215 to 220 pounds Which would be fine if he had speed and range to cover, but he's a downhill line-backer York sorts through the trash well to get to the ball, but he can't take on blocks and can get locked down when he does get engaged
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos not only drafted a better version with more turnover potential in Red Murdock, but they also have Lavel Bailey and Jordan Turner who are the same type of linebacker with the latter Turner having more stack linebacker ability than the rest.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Close quote on Eric there.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's an interesting player because he's got a lot of fire to him.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: So like, that's one thing that gets kind of lost in the shuffle when you're just watching tape.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying this is Eric.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying generally speaking, you're just watching a player.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it's evident.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: They play with such an emotional fiery attitude.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: It can be very evident.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: But that's the kind of approach emotion that York plays with.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: So that gives him a little bit of an edge, isn't it?
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not going to, first of all, Deanna, thank you so much for your generosity.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: As always, thank you, thank you.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to pick apart Eric's analysis.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: I will say though, uh, the other linebackers walked on to the 53 in the past.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: And if he doesn't work out, Chad, you work?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: So what that you're not losing anything he's not going to cost anything to sign it's going to make pennies on the dollar You can kind of move on and you still have a couple other young players you're excited about you drafted Red Murdoch I think it's a great flyer for the Broncos and who knows what he could develop into no one thought Korean A read and level Bailey would be what they are and I'm not overrating them But no one thought they would survive until now like they have maybe York is the next guy to do so
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: fair point and I'm still actually kind of excited about Jordan Turner like we barely got to see him on the field undrafted rookie last year initially on the practice squad spent most of the year on the practice squad then they promoted him late and so again what is a stand climbing backer that's a guy who can take on blocks got the size the build the power and the
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think York is very interesting, a little bit of a long road ahead of him, but never say never, man, like, look.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Philip Lindsey.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: We all know who Philip Lindsey was when he was signed here Zach, but because of, you know, he's the Denver, the Denver kid, right?
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, see you all that stuff.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was very famous, but if you didn't know anything about his background or, you know, you weren't someone who lived locally in the Denver area.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe didn't know who Philip Lindsey was.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: You look at this smaller under size guy and you go, yeah, I'm probably not circling him as a guy who's making this roster.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: of the dog.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the size of the dog in the fight.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's the size of the fight in the dog.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Boo, yeah.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: Boo, yeah.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: George Fox, what's going on?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Big dog.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: He says, you know, we have a great record of non-drafted players making the team hit the thumbs up.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Rather, I think off the top of my
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: an undrafted rookie has made the Broncos 53 man roster out of training camps.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, and it's something that is a big selling point for them in the college free agent scramble immediately following the draft, they use that and they should.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's also true, you know, they get undrafted rookies act of fair opportunity.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: But this year of all years, man, it's going to be tough for any of these undrafted rookies.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have draft picks
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking in my head like what players have the best pathway to the 53 and as much as I like York, the depth chart is very crowded, maybe someone like Tyler Miller who we talked about a few minutes ago, Chad, they didn't draft a pure tackle.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they took Casey, but he's more of a guard prospect.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe Tyler Miller is the one that makes the 53, but again, there's players in front of him that I think would get his shot first.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: We got Zebo in the house.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: And from Oz from the future, like many of our community members, including Glenn Ashley, I'm sure he's in the chat.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: Zebo, brother, great to see you.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you're doing good, big dog.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Zebo says, hey guys, long time not on the live show, but I caught up afterwards and exciting draft and I'm looking forward to 2026.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking the bow will be just fine.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Love the Red Murdoch pick and may change for life.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Go Broncos.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Red Murdoch is just an interesting guy dude and the fact that he Exited Zack the college ranks division one FPS college football With the most career force fumbles ever like no one ever had more force fumbles in college football Then this guy man He's a guy that I think Zack challenges and succeeds Maybe not so bold prediction
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: Top four linebackers that make the 53.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: Alex Singleton, Justin Sternad, Jonah Ellis, because they seem pretty committed to that transition, Red Murdoch.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're right on the money and, and Jack, thank you so much for that.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also a big fan of the Murdoch pic.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: Again, you drafted such great value.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: You let the board come to you and the Brock was got a little lucky.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: It was a fortuitous bounce, so to speak, this draft, but I'm happy to balance the Brock was favor.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with your analysis, Chad, and with your optimism, Jack, about Murdoch.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think he will be on the 53 and the sooner that Singleton is replaced as a starter.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care by who the better off will all be.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, they're making...
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: They're making preparations for that possibility, Zach.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, move and Jonah Ellis over.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's got two brothers now.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're basically career inside line backers.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: So there's the bloodline aspect.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's Nick Benito saying he's the most versatile player in the NFL, Jonah Ellis.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then they're invested in a draft pick, not a high one, but still, I mean, could end up being Zach one of the bigger draft steals of 2026 Red Murdock when it comes out in the wash.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: They're taking steps, let's just put it that way toward life after Alex singleton.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: as they should.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's as much as they like him or I don't know what Singleton has on the barocos, brass or whatever, but he's not going to be around forever.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: At his play, you can like him.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: You could be the biggest fan of Singleton and we're all fans of him for what he went through with his cancer, but his play is tapering off badly.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't mind him on early downs on running plays, but he still has the tendency or did last season to be badly exposed and coverage.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: I hope one of these young linebackers chat could step up and offer more athleticism
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Well said.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Bakes Productions 2000.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is William James Baker London calling.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I had to do was read the first two words and I know who it is.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for throwing down a generous super chat on YouTube.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: Usually a Facebooker but he's heating the call move.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: If you're on Facebook, head on over to YouTube because we're going to have to stop stream into Facebook here pretty soon.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: So great to have you with us on YouTube, brother and he says
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: So in case you missed last night's show, I'm going to sum it up.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: Those of you who maybe weren't with us yesterday, Bonyx had a Medcheck, an expected Medcheck with his doctor, the surgeon, that performed things for him on back in January.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: In that Medcheck, it was decided that they had to go back in.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: for a cleanup procedure, which we now understand Zach also included removing the screws in the plates that had been put in there to basically keep his bones and joint together because this particular fracture, which
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's the third time he's fractured this ankle, but this particular fracture gang went through the joint like end of the bone itself through the joint and so required to play required the screws and all that so that was taken out and then they also clean up a little bit of scar tissue which you know depending on who you want to believe Zach on one hand this was expected like this was an anticipated thing.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: On the other, at the same time, you know, you got guys like Mike Kliss, nine news, got blessing, who said, look, man, a month ago at the owner's meetings, this was not an anticipated thing, this med check that was going to require him going back under the knife.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: And yet, you know, because it did affect his timetable.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: So now because of this,
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of being available for the entirety of the off-says and training program and beyond, Bonix will not be available until training camp.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a brief summation, Zach.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: You tell me if I missed anything for William.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think we covered this in depth, William last night on the podcast, and I think you said it best, and I'll repeat what you said again, Chad.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos would have just been up front and genuine about Bose recovery and his process in the timeline, we all wouldn't be freaking out right now.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: I put it more on Sean Payton and George Payton than I do any sort of setback for Bonix and just Sean Payton with how cryptic and stubbornly cryptic he just adamant.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: about injuries like I do will not say a damn word and then he goes out and says a damn words that can then he gets that blowback in January with both calling his own press conference and correct in the record.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you're Sean Payton is like, see, this is why I'm not saying shizn it anymore about injuries like that's that original dizzy.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on big dog great to see you.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the super chat brother.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: He says hot take an undrafted free agent becomes a starter.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: Let the long snapper battle begin, LOL.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not the most interesting position battle, but don't sleep on it.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Huntle up, fam.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, dude, OG.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: To use X-rays, a vintage reference there's that, the Huntle up podcast.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I could see the flashbacks and now with us just super close to the camera.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: No interactivity at all, but It's easy.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: You do go.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god get it off get it off.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: Well, how do I get Zach back on?
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: We're good now See that's why we don't go back to the huddle up days.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: We stay out of make days where you can literally see how many hairs are sticking out of our nostrils Yeah, and the pores and my nose and every thing will go that too close
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but yeah, they did X sign that long snapper a fellow by the name of Luke Basseau.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, they brought him in for a reason, like, and this is something we've seen the Broncos do up with different regimes for years.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: They get a guy in.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: that's writ reliable.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to a point in his contract where he no longer becomes, you know, cheapo, heck of cheapo, they start bringing in competition, the first guy with even a heartbeats chance of being a competent replacement, audio's to Mitchell for Boni, and then we start the clock in the cycle over again.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: The only exception to that, if memory serves that, didn't always extend
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: The pro bowler, Casey Criter.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on, I got to look this up.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Rack your brain, dude.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: What do you remember about Casey Criter?
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think you might be right.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: Pro bowl, long snapers, kind of an oxymoron to me, Chad.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: But I do, I'll recall recently, the Broncos bringing in the competition for Brooney, and it never went anywhere.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_02]: The guy, the other guy was cut and for Brooney won the job.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think this was going to happen again.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: Very well could, but just for Krabs and Giggs.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: They did resign in one year.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't a multi-year extension, so after being an exclusive rights free agent, and back to back years 17 and 18, the Broncos signed him to a one year one million dollar deal in 2019 and then after that they let him hit the bricks.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, anyway, film a gofflin says good Lord, guys, we get no respect as usual, nine and a half projected winds, unless all our starters get hurt, we get 12 at least in my opinion.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: Where's the nine and a half
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: uh... i don't know if it was some sort of uh... over under that was released i had maybe i missed it but uh... you can't assume anything feel i i understand where the optimism is coming from no one thought the brakos would win fourteen games last season but the competition gets better every year too not just the brakos yeah they improve but every other team did as well including teams in their own division
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, my home is coming back at some point.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: The chargers are still a thorn on the side.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: And the raiders improved, I think, pretty drastically.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: So we cannot assume 12 wins.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: We have to assume, though, that they will play to the level of last season.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: And if they do, they're going to be just fine no matter what record they end up with because they're going to be in the postseason once again.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: So this actually comes from our very own sports illustrated national.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: courtesy of, uh, who's this fellow who wrote the Deng story, Ryan Gilbert, uh, and siding draft king sports book.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we look at the overunders, uh, Cardinal win total four and a half, who kept Falcons Scott seven and a half.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's respectable dude.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let's find the Broncos here.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nine and a half.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where it's coming from.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Zach.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I'm taking the
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, but thanks for bringing this to our attention fill.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: This probably actually requires an article from us.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: So now to to the Zack to the idea that they're getting disrespected.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: What do your thoughts on that?
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: when aren't they?
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I've, I have come around and resigning myself to the fact that the broadcast can win the next five titles in a row, and they're still gonna get disrespected.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just better when you live your life kind of expecting that and not getting upset at every little slight because it's not going away, and no matter what the Broncos do or don't do, they're gonna get the disrespect.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: Let them hate.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: uh... so bow is estimated to be back for training camp that's all we know and it's it's through reporting by the way not from anything the team has said so keep that in mind but guys we got to keep it a little bit shorter tonight i got a family thing with my son has got something cooking that i got to get out of here for so uh... zax going to cover a few uh... messages here before we dip on out and then we'll take one last look at the chats with don't go anywhere
