- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Now, I don't know if you are an investor or a trader, but if you
- 0:45are, you will appreciate how important managing your emotions
- 0:49are when it comes to being a good trader and a good investor.
- 0:53In fact, fear, fear and greed are two of the strongest
- 0:57emotions that you can get. But they're not the only
- 0:59emotions. You can have anger, you can have
- 1:02frustration, you can have impatience.
- 1:04And I was working with a client that would revenge trade.
- 1:09Revenge trade is kind of chasing your losses.
- 1:12It's losing a trade and then trying to make that back
- 1:15quickly. And the problem with that is
- 1:18that quite often it leads to inferior decision making and
- 1:23throwing out a proven strategy. And that was the case with the
- 1:27client that I was working with. They had a strategy that if they
- 1:30followed it diligently would make profit 70% of the time.
- 1:34But if they revenge trade and did the emotional trading, they
- 1:38would place bigger bets and they would have a lower quality
- 1:43criteria to make trades and that would only make profit 30% of
- 1:47the time. So this uses the.
- 1:49Analogy of. It being a test of their
- 1:52resolve, like how capable are they of being unshakeable in the
- 1:56sense of these things that could rattle other people and to not
- 2:01fall into the trap of being baited to become a gambler when
- 2:04really what they wanted to be was an analytical trader.
- 2:07And they could really take pride in being this analytical trader.
- 2:11So this may be a bit too specialist if you don't invest
- 2:16or you're not a trader. I love investing.
- 2:17I love particularly active trading where I'm setting like
- 2:21buy order, sell orders, you know, checking my positions.
- 2:26Not everyone is like this, but the client that I was working
- 2:28with, they, they did what I do, but they do it on a daily basis.
- 2:32They're trying to make profit every single day.
- 2:34I'm a more long term investor, but the psychology is still the
- 2:38same. It's about effectively making a
- 2:41trade, mitigating risk, making good decisions and following
- 2:45your thesis, following your strategy and trying to avoid
- 2:48those kind of overly emotional, intuitive responses.
- 2:51So if this resonates, you'll get some value from this session.
- 2:55And if it doesn't and you want something a bit more bespoke for
- 2:57you, have a look at the link in the description and schedule A
- 3:00free consultation call with me. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:03comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:05Relax and enjoy the session. And I wonder if you could
- 3:15breathe in even deeper than you normally would, really feeling
- 3:23your diaphragm and chest expand. And as you exhale, just imagine
- 3:33elongating that outward breath so it enables you to drift
- 3:41deeper and further and more relaxed.
- 3:47And as your body relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 3:55And I want you to imagine what it would be like to be walking
- 4:01on the coast. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 4:07the calm ocean. And I want you to imagine
- 4:13thinking that if you had a small boat, it is completely safe and
- 4:21enjoyable to take that small boat out on the ocean when the
- 4:31seas are calm and the weather is good.
- 4:38But then imagine the clouds turning grey.
- 4:44I want you to imagine winds, storms, and I want you to
- 4:52imagine seeing those waves high, strong, volatile.
- 5:00I don't want you to get the feeling then what is a great
- 5:06decision when the waves are calm becomes a reckless decision to
- 5:16take the boat out onto the ocean when the waves are strong and
- 5:25intense and unpredictable. And I want you to get a feeling
- 5:33that sometimes your emotions feel like the volatile waves.
- 5:43And in the same way that it wouldn't make sense to take a
- 5:45boat out onto the ocean until the waves have calmed down, I
- 5:52want you to feel that you are planting a seed of an idea that
- 5:59to be a stoic, analytical trader, it's.
- 6:06Important not to. Trade during an emotional storm.
- 6:14And I want you to get a feeling that you're planting that seed
- 6:17of an idea that if you are feeling emotional, the strategy
- 6:25is not to take the boat out onto the waves, but to allow time for
- 6:32the waves to calm back down again.
- 6:37And now imagine the waves doing that.
- 6:41Calm, smooth waves, sunny weather and blue skies.
- 6:48And now it becomes a perfect time to take that small boat
- 6:52back out onto the waves. I want you to get a feeling what
- 6:58is a great decision can also be a horrible decision even though
- 7:10the ocean is exactly the same. I want you to feel it's the
- 7:15conditions that can make it good or bad, but also the size of
- 7:23your boat. I want you to get a feeling that
- 7:30you're now there, perhaps closer to the ocean, seeing the calm,
- 7:36gentle waves. Imagine hearing those waves and
- 7:44I want you to feel that your body is getting deeper and
- 7:48deeper, relaxed. And then imagine seeing a door
- 7:54just there by the ocean, but not connected to a building.
- 8:01Maybe a wooden door, A metal door.
- 8:05Imagine the frame. Imagine the door and the handle.
- 8:13And it's weird because it shouldn't even be standing up
- 8:17straight. And it dawns on you.
- 8:20This is a portal. A portal that will take you to
- 8:23your own private cinema to give you a new perspective on a
- 8:31useful change that would be good to make.
- 8:35As I count, from 5:00 to 1:00, you will imagine standing in
- 8:40front of that door, opening the door, walking through the door
- 8:45and walking into your very own private cinema. 5 putting your
- 8:54hand on the handle, 4 turning the handle, 3 opening the door,
- 9:002 walking through the door, and one closing the door behind you
- 9:07as you now found yourself no longer by the ocean, but in your
- 9:13own private cinema. No one else is there, and I want
- 9:19you to find the most comfortable seat with the perfect view of
- 9:22the screen. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 9:28yourself there on that screen, the last time you felt on tilt,
- 9:38triggered, angry, perhaps because a trade didn't go your
- 9:44way. But you're not in your body.
- 9:50You're just the observer. And I wonder if you could see
- 9:54yourself on that screen evaluating something that didn't
- 10:00seem fair, right? It was unjust in some way.
- 10:04And maybe you can tell from your facial expression or your
- 10:09posture or the tension in your body that you were emotionally
- 10:15affected by that outcome. And then see that version of you
- 10:24triggered by that trade, revenge trading.
- 10:30See that version of you lowering standards and increasing bed
- 10:37sizes? That version of you is trying to
- 10:43do what every form of revenge does that vigilante justice to
- 10:51right or wrong. But I want you to see, because
- 10:57you've increased your risk and reduce your standards, See that
- 11:03version of you deviating from your strategy.
- 11:08And I want you to see that person on screen shifting from
- 11:14being an analytical trader to a reckless gambler, perhaps within
- 11:22minutes. And I want you to see that
- 11:26version of you increasing the frequency of your trades,
- 11:34avoiding that discerning setup, impulsively trading, taking more
- 11:45risk. And if you can see that that
- 11:49version of you is decreasing your probability of success
- 11:56through that revenge trading, let me know by nodding your
- 11:59head. That's in.
- 12:06And I want you to imagine rewinding that very same thing
- 12:12and pausing it. But before we go back to that
- 12:17version of you, I want you to imagine you see someone else on
- 12:21that screen, someone that you consider to be an unshakable
- 12:28traitor. The chaos can happen.
- 12:34Something unjust, unfair, and nothing would make them deviate
- 12:41from their system, their strategy.
- 12:47And once you see that version of that person, that unshakeable
- 12:52person, I want you to imagine putting them on the receiving
- 12:57end of that same trade that triggered you.
- 13:01And maybe you can tell from their face.
- 13:07Then they've also evaluated the loss, the unfairness, but
- 13:14they're not triggered by it. Maybe you see them ambivalent,
- 13:20unbothered, unfazed, or maybe stoic.
- 13:27They accept the outcome happened that they didn't want, but that
- 13:34doesn't mean they're going to lose their cool.
- 13:39So imagine that unshakable trader in the same situation
- 13:43that you found yourself triggered.
- 13:47And if you feel that they're responding to it in a way that
- 13:52would be more useful for you, let me know by nodding your
- 13:54head. And I want you to see that
- 14:02version of them taking it on the chin saying it's just the 30%
- 14:10that doesn't work out. No anger, no rage, no
- 14:15frustration, no annoyance. They treat it like the same way
- 14:22that someone would treat a bug hitting the front of a
- 14:28windscreen. Not even enough to stop the car.
- 14:38I want you to feel that when these trades don't go your way,
- 14:42you evaluate your process. If the process was the right
- 14:48process, then you can feel happy even if the outcome wasn't that
- 14:57which you desired. I want you to feel empowered
- 15:05that actually these unfair things are tests and traps.
- 15:15Test to test your emotional strength, to be unshakeable when
- 15:22it matters. But the trap is that it baits
- 15:27you to deviate from your strategy.
- 15:32The market wants you to go on full tilt to get emotional, to
- 15:38revenge trade, because when it does, the triggered person's
- 15:46money ends up flowing to the unshakeable person.
- 15:56I want you to imagine going back to that version of you that you
- 16:01rewind it to the beginning. This time see a version of you
- 16:09that has the same facial expression, that same
- 16:13unshakeable quality of that trader that would never take the
- 16:20bait. Imagine seeing the same thing
- 16:23happen and then try out two different scenarios.
- 16:31The first is that you see yourself looking angry or
- 16:34annoyed, but instead of revenge trading, see that version of you
- 16:41go for a walk, have a short workout or maybe skip for 5
- 16:49minutes or use the punch bag and when you return, see that
- 16:55version of you almost like the ocean that was volatile and then
- 17:03found its calm. Or perhaps you can see yourself
- 17:14unflappable, unfazed. See that version of you where
- 17:19these things that triggered you in the past no longer do
- 17:23anymore? That you can consider it an
- 17:32ingredient into the same cake that if you have a 70% win rate,
- 17:41then you will lose 30% of the time.
- 17:45And that's OK. And sometimes that will feel
- 17:49fair and sometimes it will feel unfair.
- 17:55But you can put it in the same bucket of just being that 30% or
- 18:02it doesn't go your way in order for you to be rewarded for the
- 18:0870% of the time when it does. Because the alternative is that
- 18:17it baits you into becoming reckless, emotional and like a
- 18:23gambler. But I want you to see a version
- 18:28of you that can see the bait but doesn't take it, like an
- 18:35intelligent mouse seeing the cheese in the trap and deciding
- 18:39that that cheese is not valuable enough for the risk that it
- 18:45carries. And I want you to feel that the
- 18:50idea of instinctively revenge trading is like that cheese in
- 18:57that trap. It seems appealing, but it comes
- 19:01at a cost. And that cost is then you're
- 19:06willing to give away a 70% strategy in order to use a 30%
- 19:15strategy. And I want you to imagine,
- 19:23imagine another case where you're willing to give someone
- 19:29money where it makes no logical sense just because you're
- 19:33emotional. I want you to imagine having a
- 19:39bad meal because you had that bad meal straight away.
- 19:47You bought a worse meal and then ate the worst meal immediately
- 19:52afterwards. And that doesn't make sense when
- 19:57it comes to food, and it doesn't make sense when it comes to
- 20:01trading either. I want you to see that version
- 20:06of you on the screen, immune and unshakeable.
- 20:13Nothing will make you take the bait of that revenge trade.
- 20:18You either carry on, or you allow yourself to dissipate any
- 20:26emotions and let everything calm down.
- 20:31And just like that Professional Golf player or poker player,
- 20:39they don't let one bad hand or hole creep into the next one.
- 20:46And when you found the scenario that feels good for you, that it
- 20:56would work, that even if something unfair happens, you
- 21:01wouldn't take the bait. Just see that version of you on
- 21:04that cinema screen, Rewind it, step into the screen and imagine
- 21:10yourself a week from now. Something happens similar.
- 21:17Neither the thing doesn't bother you anymore, or if it does it's
- 21:25a reminder to do something to calm your waves.
- 21:33And maybe you decide to have a rule in the same way that the
- 21:41boat owner by the sea would say I will never go into the water
- 21:51if there is a storm in the sea. And maybe you have a rule,
- 21:58something you add to your strategy to make you truly that
- 22:03analytical trader, that if you are too emotional, you don't
- 22:10trade. And only when you feel stoic and
- 22:16centered, rational and analytical, then you make that
- 22:23trade. And if your unconscious agrees,
- 22:27let me know by nodding your head.
- 22:31And I want you to imagine the worst thing that's ever happened
- 22:36in a trade happening in that moment and still feel immune to
- 22:41taking that bait. These things are either tests to
- 22:51test your resilience and your resolve, or a trap to bait you
- 22:57into becoming a gambler. And from this point onwards,
- 23:02each time you see those things that triggered you in the past,
- 23:08you will either pass the test or refuse to take the bait.
- 23:15And in doing so, you become even more of that wise, calm, stoic,
- 23:28rational, analytical trader that you are at your core.
- 23:37No situation will bait you to becoming a gambler.
- 23:44And then imagine leaving that screen, seeing yourself on the
- 23:47screen looking unshakeable. I want you to see yourself
- 23:53looking more unshakeable than that other person that you
- 23:58considered unshakeable and accept this is your compelling
- 24:08vision of the future. And every trigger is an
- 24:15opportunity to either become this unshakeable analytical
- 24:23trader or to allow your emotions to win and become the gambler.
- 24:31And whichever version of you you reward more is the one you will
- 24:41get more of. But you know who you want to be,
- 24:49and that intention is already helping to lay the new neural
- 24:57pathways to create that possibility.
- 25:03Soon as you leave that cinema, take this unshakable analytical
- 25:10trader with you. You're almost looking forward to
- 25:14previous triggers so that you can hardwire this identity in,
- 25:23because you can only feel unshakable if something tries to
- 25:28shake you. You can only refuse to take the
- 25:33bait if you're baited into that emotional version of you.
- 25:44So as you leave the cinema, find yourself back out there on the
- 25:47shore, the feeling of shift has taken place.
- 25:53Feeling a sense of resolve, feeling a sense of empowerment,
- 26:00looking forward to being tested. And now it's time to float all
- 26:06the way back to your present, taking these changes with you.
- 26:10So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 26:15nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 26:18wiggle your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 26:20here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 26:26you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 26:33456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 26:37Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 26:41Wide awake. Wide awake.
