- 0:09Speaker 1: Time for the Robert Report. Yeah, let's get into it. Fans,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Sided Insider and FT Insider. You'll see him a lot
- 0:15Speaker 1: on here during these next three weeks, especially Robert Murray
- 0:17Speaker 1: with us. Robert, let's do a headliner right from the
- 0:20Speaker 1: jump here. I want to go over the Padres and
- 0:22Speaker 1: if you think there's any chance that they actually dangle
- 0:25Speaker 1: Mason Miller or will Aj Preler do his usual thing
- 0:29Speaker 1: and get aggressive and.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Go for it.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You know, you see it out there that it's rumor city,
- 0:33Speaker 1: help us sort through if you actually think there's a
- 0:35Speaker 1: possibility that they would try and move him.
- 0:38Speaker 3: I mean, boys, I'm sorry I missed it at the
- 0:39Speaker 3: All Star Game, but Aj Preller is the guy that
- 0:42Speaker 3: I always think of when it comes to the trade deadline.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We always see him making these big moves. Last year especially,
- 0:48Speaker 3: he was going crazy. You got Mason Miller, ron O'Hearn,
- 0:51Speaker 3: Ramonan Loreano, you got a bunch of other guys as well.
- 0:54Speaker 3: And this year I definitely expect him to be on
- 0:58Speaker 3: the market, be active on the market. What could that
- 1:01Speaker 3: exactly look like? Because the Padres are not having the
- 1:04Speaker 3: season that they envisioned, they still I believe Preller will
- 1:07Speaker 3: have flexibility if they go out and buy. But Mason
- 1:11Speaker 3: Miller has been mentioned a bunch here on the trade
- 1:13Speaker 3: rumor front.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I've checked.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I don't necessarily know if he's got like a real
- 1:17Speaker 3: chance of being moved, but with how limited the market is,
- 1:20Speaker 3: I can see teams absolutely checking with Preller to see
- 1:23Speaker 3: if Miller will become available, And you have to imagine
- 1:26Speaker 3: that the price for Miller, who's emerged as the best
- 1:29Speaker 3: reliever in baseball, is going to be very high. He
- 1:31Speaker 3: has absolutely been everything that the Padres have hoped for,
- 1:34Speaker 3: and honestly, he's been even better than I think they
- 1:37Speaker 3: could have hoped for. And he seems like a guy
- 1:39Speaker 3: that they want to build around, that they want to
- 1:41Speaker 3: have in San Diego long term. But if an offer
- 1:43Speaker 3: that comes that's too good to pass up where they
- 1:46Speaker 3: can get that headliner, one of the best prospects in ball,
- 1:49Speaker 3: maybe they can end up doing so. But my guess
- 1:52Speaker 3: is this is just a case where Preler listens, he
- 1:55Speaker 3: sees what's out there, holds on to Miller, and if
- 1:57Speaker 3: they have an opportunity to go out and compete, then
- 2:00Speaker 3: I think we could see him trying to add at
- 2:02Speaker 3: least one bat maybe two, and then try to do
- 2:04Speaker 3: whatever a j proler does is and just make trades
- 2:07Speaker 3: like no other executive in ball can make.
- 2:11Speaker 4: So we had a little action yesterday what we're calling
- 2:13Speaker 4: kind of the first official trade of the unofficial second half.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Lance mccoller is going to the Brewers. Tell me what
- 2:20Speaker 4: you think about that move for the Brewers, But also,
- 2:22Speaker 4: do you believe that this is kind of like the
- 2:24Speaker 4: push to get these gms out there to start getting
- 2:26Speaker 4: a little bit aggressive. We know how tight the American
- 2:29Speaker 4: League is in general. Do you think a little move
- 2:32Speaker 4: like this starts to force gms to start making moves
- 2:34Speaker 4: before the deadline?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Gosh, I sure hope so, because everything that I've heard
- 2:39Speaker 3: is that the market at this point is relatively quiet.
- 2:42Speaker 3: But as far as the Brewers go, they've had to
- 2:45Speaker 3: do something, and they got multiple somethings here, and they
- 2:47Speaker 3: got pitching depth, which is exactly what they've needed. Because
- 2:50Speaker 3: Jacob Mizerowski has been dealing with arm fatigue, and everyone
- 2:53Speaker 3: you talked to around the situation, and including Misrowski, has
- 2:56Speaker 3: said that he's not overly concerned about it, and Kyle
- 2:59Speaker 3: Harrison's been deal with something with his elbow. But again
- 3:02Speaker 3: the concern there is low, but the Brewers know better
- 3:05Speaker 3: than anybody that you need as many outkaters as you
- 3:08Speaker 3: can because injuries happen and you're gonna end up having
- 3:10Speaker 3: guys who are gonna need a breather, and this is
- 3:12Speaker 3: something where there I would not be surprised if we
- 3:16Speaker 3: see the Brewers try to limit Misrowski's innings to keep
- 3:18Speaker 3: him fresh for the postseason, because he's already coming up
- 3:21Speaker 3: on his career high of innings and I think they're
- 3:25Speaker 3: going to want to try to manage him, and adding
- 3:28Speaker 3: a guy like Lance mccollors is a really is a
- 3:32Speaker 3: low risk move.
- 3:33Speaker 2: You obviously add.
- 3:34Speaker 3: About two point five million dollars in salary, which for
- 3:36Speaker 3: the Brewers is not a small thing. But to me,
- 3:39Speaker 3: this is going to be the start for the Brewers
- 3:40Speaker 3: where you can add more pitching. Maybe you can end
- 3:43Speaker 3: up adding a bat. I hope they do both, because
- 3:45Speaker 3: I think they could definitely use both. But from Houston's
- 3:47Speaker 3: perspective too, this saves some payroll room for him, allows
- 3:51Speaker 3: them to have a little bit more flexibility come the deadline,
- 3:54Speaker 3: and with them like still hanging into the postseason race,
- 3:58Speaker 3: I do expect them to add and at one point
- 4:00Speaker 3: I expected him to move Christian Walker, maybe even a
- 4:02Speaker 3: guy like Josh Haters, some other guys as well. I
- 4:04Speaker 3: wouldn't be surprised if they held out to him and
- 4:06Speaker 3: kind of try to add to this roster. But I
- 4:09Speaker 3: do think this is going to be an outlier, and
- 4:11Speaker 3: then that most of the movement is probably gonna come
- 4:13Speaker 3: closer to August.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Third, though, where are the teams that are I think
- 4:18Speaker 5: there's probably about five teams that are essentially out of
- 4:22Speaker 5: it in my opinion, out of it, I think, in
- 4:24Speaker 5: their opinion, out of it. And I have the Giants,
- 4:27Speaker 5: the Mets, the Angels, the Royals, and the Rockies. Who
- 4:31Speaker 5: is primed to take advantage of this market where like
- 4:36Speaker 5: you just said, hey, if you move early, you can
- 4:38Speaker 5: get the guy that you want. But everyone's afraid of
- 4:41Speaker 5: moving early except for these teams.
- 4:44Speaker 3: No, totally, And I think that list is exactly what
- 4:46Speaker 3: I have here too, and I wouldn't be surprised if
- 4:49Speaker 3: we have at least two or three more that are
- 4:51Speaker 3: added to that list closer to the deadline. But the
- 4:54Speaker 3: team that stands out to me the most is the Giants.
- 4:57Speaker 3: They have obviously like Luisa Rise He's had a great
- 5:00Speaker 3: season both offensively and defensively, and I'd be stunned if
- 5:03Speaker 3: he isn't moved. Maybe you could do an extension. I've
- 5:06Speaker 3: seen some talk about that on Twitter, but I think
- 5:08Speaker 3: they can absolutely take advantage with him. You have other
- 5:11Speaker 3: guys like Harrison Bader there, you have the Stars with
- 5:15Speaker 3: Rafael Devers, with Matt Chapman, who I still think I
- 5:17Speaker 3: said the last time I was on the show. I
- 5:19Speaker 3: think he'd be a great fit for Philadelphia, especially if
- 5:21Speaker 3: they want to upgrade the third base position and have
- 5:23Speaker 3: someone their long term William Doomas. But the guy that
- 5:28Speaker 3: I would not be surprised if he draws a lot
- 5:30Speaker 3: of interest is Jung Hu Lee. He's not going to
- 5:33Speaker 3: blow you away power wise, but he's a really solid defender,
- 5:37Speaker 3: great average like.
- 5:38Speaker 2: He's a guy that is a really.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Steady, like a really good baseball player, and I could
- 5:43Speaker 3: absolutely see the Giants getting so much interest in him
- 5:45Speaker 3: and perhaps an offer that they can't refuse and possibly
- 5:49Speaker 3: end up moving him. And that's one possibility there. They're
- 5:52Speaker 3: going to be listening on all these guys and they
- 5:54Speaker 3: have the pieces there where they can still sell, but
- 5:57Speaker 3: they can also have a chance at competing possibly next
- 5:59Speaker 3: year and the year after that, So they're the team
- 6:02Speaker 3: that stands out to me. Then you have the Mets
- 6:04Speaker 3: in here as well, and obviously Freddy Pralton in the
- 6:08Speaker 3: final year of his contract, is going to be drawing
- 6:10Speaker 3: a ton of interest. And he hasn't had the year
- 6:13Speaker 3: that he that he's had in Milwaukee previously, but he's
- 6:16Speaker 3: still a really good, dependable pitcher, and that eight million
- 6:18Speaker 3: dollars salary that he has for this season is something
- 6:21Speaker 3: that is going to have a lot of teams intrigued.
- 6:23Speaker 3: It's going to have a lot of baseball in the
- 6:25Speaker 3: mix there, So I would imagine the interest there ends
- 6:28Speaker 3: up leading to a deal involving Peralta and then everyone
- 6:31Speaker 3: is like I shouldn't say everyone, but I would imagine
- 6:34Speaker 3: a lot of different contending teams are going to be
- 6:37Speaker 3: looking at a guy like Luke Weaver, who's been phenomenal there.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And we've seen a rold As Chapman obviously get mentioned
- 6:42Speaker 3: in trade rumors, and now it looks like the Red
- 6:43Speaker 3: Sox are going to be holding firm and possibly adding there.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Does Mason Miller get moved and again, I don't think
- 6:49Speaker 3: that's the most likely thing. So it's possible that Luke
- 6:52Speaker 3: Weaver could end up being the best reliever who's possibly
- 6:55Speaker 3: available or potentially moved. So he's somebody I'm definitely watching.
- 7:00Speaker 3: As far as like the Royals go, they've made it
- 7:02Speaker 3: pretty clear that they don't want to move a guy.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Like Seth Lugo or Michael Waka.
- 7:06Speaker 3: We'll see if that ultimate leads to a deal, but
- 7:08Speaker 3: they should, in my opinion, definitely listen on both of
- 7:11Speaker 3: those guys because Walka especially, look at his numbers like
- 7:14Speaker 3: the last five or so seasons, the guy's legitimately his
- 7:17Speaker 3: nickname should be Mister Consistent. It's absolutely remarkable what he's done.
- 7:21Speaker 3: And getting to talk to him at the All Star
- 7:23Speaker 3: Game was pretty cool because his mindset and just how
- 7:25Speaker 3: he goes about how he goes about his business.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It's just is awesome there.
- 7:29Speaker 3: And then the Angels too, under Perry, they were a
- 7:32Speaker 3: team that really did not like make a ton of moves,
- 7:36Speaker 3: not a lot of big splashes come the deadline. But
- 7:39Speaker 3: now you have John Mozalic there. You got fresh set
- 7:41Speaker 3: of eyes, and he can end up looking at this
- 7:43Speaker 3: thing with an objective view. You can move a guy
- 7:47Speaker 3: I read Detmers, whose value I think he could end
- 7:49Speaker 3: up getting a lot.
- 7:50Speaker 2: In return for him. For sure.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You have Joe Adell, who I think would be a
- 7:54Speaker 3: great fit in Philadelphia, maybe San Diego. I like again,
- 7:58Speaker 3: they're a team that could take advantage of this thing,
- 8:00Speaker 3: for sure. But those are the teams that I'm watching.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But I'm skeptical that the Royals are gonna jump into
- 8:03Speaker 3: that makes them make anything too splashy here.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Big second half of the season coming up, there might
- 8:09Speaker 1: be a hot ticket, a rivalry series, a sold out
- 8:13Speaker 1: experience they need to get your hands on, and Sea

- 9:08Speaker 4: All Right, I'm going to say they're slow because it's
- 9:10Speaker 4: still hard to believe. It is July sixth, the Chicago
- 9:14Speaker 4: White Sox are tied for first place in the American leagues.
- 9:19Speaker 4: What do you believe that the White Sox go out
- 9:21Speaker 4: and do during the deadline? Do you believe that they're
- 9:23Speaker 4: going to be big buyers? Are they going to go
- 9:25Speaker 4: out and make a big move where do you think
- 9:26Speaker 4: they're just going to make some moves kind of along
- 9:28Speaker 4: the fringes to allow them to kind of compete down
- 9:32Speaker 4: the stretch.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we're talking White Sox and aj Brazinski isn't here.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Isn't that terrible? I mean, how about that?
- 9:38Speaker 3: But it's crazy we got the White Sox. To me,
- 9:41Speaker 3: should be a team that absolutely tries to make this
- 9:45Speaker 3: thing happen at the deadline. But if you make it
- 9:48Speaker 3: happen and you make a big move, you have to
- 9:50Speaker 3: go out and get somebody controllable. And I've been talking
- 9:52Speaker 3: to some different people across baseball and I think Read
- 9:55Speaker 3: Debtmers would be a tremendous fit there. I just mentioned
- 9:57Speaker 3: him with the Angels. He's had a really strong season
- 10:00Speaker 3: in there, and you add him to the White Sox
- 10:02Speaker 3: and you can build around him in that rotation and
- 10:04Speaker 3: having a starting pitcher would be or adding a frontline
- 10:08Speaker 3: starting pitcher would really help them both now and also
- 10:11Speaker 3: long term as well. And I don't like it's the
- 10:14Speaker 3: asking price for him is going to be a lot,
- 10:16Speaker 3: especially with him being controllable. But if you're the White
- 10:18Speaker 3: Sox and you can possibly get him without giving up
- 10:22Speaker 3: like the entire farm, I think that's something you should
- 10:24Speaker 3: absolutely go out and consider. Because his underlying numbers are
- 10:27Speaker 3: too obviously see you see the four point three to
- 10:29Speaker 3: nine era, but the strikeouts are really good.
- 10:32Speaker 2: He's someone that I'm not kidding you when I say this.
- 10:34Speaker 2: He has been the most asked about.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Player that I've gotten on my end, at least from
- 10:38Speaker 3: other teams across baseball. They want to know, do I
- 10:40Speaker 3: think he's going to be moved? They want to know
- 10:42Speaker 3: what I'm hearing, And I think Detms is going to
- 10:44Speaker 3: be somebody who is very, very coveted come deadline time.
- 10:48Speaker 5: The teams that approach him you're talking about the White Sox,
- 10:50Speaker 5: the teams that approached the Angels about Debtmers, wouldn't it
- 10:54Speaker 5: be like, a, It's fine, we'll take Jose Soriano or
- 10:58Speaker 5: is Jose Soriano because he's not getting as much asked
- 11:01Speaker 5: as much as what you're talking about with reed Debtmers
- 11:05Speaker 5: that it wouldn't be the same thing because you already
- 11:07Speaker 5: work it out and you're like, ah, that doesn't quite
- 11:09Speaker 5: fit our package. But we'd be fine giving up Jose Soriano.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I mean it's I definitely think he's going to be
- 11:15Speaker 3: somebody who draws a bunch of interest, and like you
- 11:17Speaker 3: look at his start that he's had, it's been remarkable.
- 11:20Speaker 3: He was the talk of baseball across as first what
- 11:22Speaker 3: eight to ten starts, give or take very solid, very like,
- 11:26Speaker 3: very strong candidate at the deadline here, and I think
- 11:29Speaker 3: the Angel should absolutely be in a position where they
- 11:31Speaker 3: listen on him.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Should they sell high?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Do they think this is going to be a sign
- 11:35Speaker 3: of things that are going to continue. I think that's
- 11:37Speaker 3: something that John Mozalak and that entire front office has
- 11:39Speaker 3: to come out and listen or come out and consider here.
- 11:42Speaker 3: But as far as he goes like obviously, as I said,
- 11:45Speaker 3: Detmers has been the guy that have been asked about
- 11:47Speaker 3: the most. But with how limited the market is overall
- 11:50Speaker 3: and how many of these teams are out and contending,
- 11:53Speaker 3: it would be whove the Angels to listen on Sriana
- 11:55Speaker 3: because if you can get an offer that allows you
- 11:58Speaker 3: to have a better position to compete year maybe the
- 12:01Speaker 3: year after that, because they're not relatively close to competing.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I think it's something they should absolutely consider, and I
- 12:06Speaker 3: would absolutely imagine considering his start that he's gonna be
- 12:09Speaker 3: drawing plenty of interest here.
- 12:11Speaker 4: All right, Robert, I'm gonna put you on the spot
- 12:13Speaker 4: right here. I'm going to have you come out give
- 12:15Speaker 4: me a player that's not being talked about a lot
- 12:19Speaker 4: right now in trade circles. A big name that you
- 12:22Speaker 4: think could get moved at the deadline?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Boy, am I allowed to say someone that I said before?
- 12:27Speaker 3: Because it's relatively okay, I'll say Jung Hulee because like
- 12:31Speaker 3: the depth overall of players who are available on the
- 12:34Speaker 3: offensive side at this point seems relatively little. Obviously it's
- 12:39Speaker 3: going to change in the next couple of weeks, but
- 12:41Speaker 3: I think Jung Hulee is somebody who is going to
- 12:43Speaker 3: be drawing a lot of interest. And as I said before,
- 12:47Speaker 3: like you look at his numbers there, you hit three
- 12:48Speaker 3: h two average power isn't necessarily there. But he is
- 12:52Speaker 3: a winning ballplayer, and I think he is absolutely like
- 12:56Speaker 3: a phenomenal ad if you're Philly, if you're Atlanta. I
- 12:59Speaker 3: don't know the Giants would go out and trade him
- 13:01Speaker 3: to a division rival like the Padres, but the overall
- 13:04Speaker 3: fits there make a ton of sense. And you look
- 13:06Speaker 3: at the strikeoup percentage there as well. He like he
- 13:09Speaker 3: doesn't strike out much, he puts the he puts the.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Ball in play.
- 13:12Speaker 3: He's He's somebody who I think is going to have
- 13:14Speaker 3: a lot of fans across baseball, and I wouldn't be
- 13:16Speaker 3: surprised if it led to a deal so my vote
- 13:18Speaker 3: is for Jong Huli.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Can you I know it was putting on your spot,
- 13:22Speaker 5: but can you rank the top three teams that the
- 13:25Speaker 5: next two weeks of games.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Mean the most for Okay, let's go. I'll go to Padres.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Go the Red Sox that's trying to up the other
- 13:39Speaker 3: team here that could end up being it. But those
- 13:41Speaker 3: two teams to me stand out the most among all
- 13:43Speaker 3: of those. I'm trying to think of some I'm trying
- 13:45Speaker 3: to think of one other team that could end up really.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Detroit. Oh yeah, Detroit.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I'll go to Houston as well, because they're a team
- 13:53Speaker 3: that obviously they have a bunch of trade chips, like
- 13:56Speaker 3: I mentioned before, you have, you have Christian Walker, you
- 13:58Speaker 3: have Josh hater. I. I can't believe I didn't think
- 14:00Speaker 3: of Detroit. I don't know who it was who ended
- 14:02Speaker 3: up listening to that one, but I appreciate you saying
- 14:04Speaker 3: that because you have a guy like Trek Scooble here
- 14:07Speaker 3: who is the biggest domino on the entire market, and
- 14:11Speaker 3: as of this point, I'm not exactly sure if he's
- 14:14Speaker 3: going to end up getting moved. He's like, if you
- 14:16Speaker 3: would ask me that two three weeks ago, which honestly,
- 14:18Speaker 3: I think you guys did. I was like, yeah, I
- 14:20Speaker 3: think for sure he's going to be moved, But they're
- 14:22Speaker 3: getting back into this thing. They're trying to go out
- 14:24Speaker 3: and compete, and you know what, if they end up
- 14:27Speaker 3: getting closer to that playoff spot, maybe School stays and
- 14:30Speaker 3: they end up going out and trying to add to
- 14:32Speaker 3: this roster. They're a team that honestly should end up
- 14:35Speaker 3: being number one on my list. The fact that you
- 14:37Speaker 3: guys needed help or needed to help me out with
- 14:38Speaker 3: that one is kind of embarrassing for me. But that
- 14:40Speaker 3: being said, Detroit is absolutely the team to watch here
- 14:43Speaker 3: for sure, because School could really dictate the entire deadline here.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Who would be.
- 14:48Speaker 4: The next tier picture if Trek School doesn't get moved.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Who do you think is the biggest name picture that
- 14:54Speaker 4: gets moved? Most impact I would say most impactful.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I would go, I mean, there's Freddy Peralta.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I think he is gonna end up really benefiting from
- 15:04Speaker 3: a change of scenery if he ends up getting moved here.
- 15:06Speaker 2: For sure, I think he is going to be.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Somebody who like obviously like the talk around him at
- 15:11Speaker 3: this point is still like I mean, people are kind of.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I feel like people are kind of sleeping on Freddy
- 15:16Speaker 3: Prawlt at this point because of his numbers this season,
- 15:19Speaker 3: how Donnie's been in Milwaukee. But he is somebody to
- 15:21Speaker 3: me who is going to be making an impact. He's
- 15:23Speaker 3: playoff tested, he's awesome, and I think whoever goes out
- 15:27Speaker 3: and get him, whether if it's the Cubs, whether it's
- 15:30Speaker 3: I mean, any of these other teams are going to
- 15:31Speaker 3: be gunning for him. I think par Alta is gonna
- 15:33Speaker 3: have a bigger impact than people realize.
- 15:35Speaker 5: This isn't a salary cap question, but it could be
- 15:38Speaker 5: moved in that direction. This is a trade deadline question.
- 15:41Speaker 5: All the teams that are in the mix we have parody.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Is this good for the trade deadline or is this
- 15:47Speaker 5: bad for the trade deadline? Because we'd love to see
- 15:50Speaker 5: stuff happening right now. But you're like, ah, we got
- 15:52Speaker 5: to see what these two weeks and then he popped
- 15:54Speaker 5: off five teams that we got to wait to see
- 15:56Speaker 5: what's gonna happen.
- 15:58Speaker 3: No, I think it's great because it adds a mystery
- 16:00Speaker 3: to add some like intrigue to it as well.
- 16:02Speaker 2: And obviously we're not going to have like.
- 16:04Speaker 3: A bunch of moves that happened between now and let's say,
- 16:07Speaker 3: like the late July. But I think August first to
- 16:10Speaker 3: the third are going to be plenty active. I think
- 16:12Speaker 3: we're gonna have a ton of moves here. But I
- 16:14Speaker 3: think any time you can have a bunch of teams
- 16:16Speaker 3: going out and competing is a really good thing for ball.
- 16:18Speaker 2: And you look at it, you.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Have so many teams competing, you have you have the
- 16:23Speaker 3: pottery is selling for almost four billion dollars. Like ratings
- 16:26Speaker 3: are up big time across ball, Like players are being paid,
- 16:30Speaker 3: they're playing at really high levels. You have star players
- 16:33Speaker 3: who are also super young and early on into their careers.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Baseball is in a terrific spot.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So, like, I know you said it's not a salary
- 16:39Speaker 3: cap question, but I still am adamant that we don't
- 16:42Speaker 3: need a salary cap in baseball. I don't think a
- 16:44Speaker 3: salary cap is going to be implemented in baseball. I
- 16:47Speaker 3: want I want to be put on the record with that.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But that being said, like I do expect the deadline,
- 16:52Speaker 3: even though we don't have like a big long list
- 16:54Speaker 3: of sellers at this point, I still think it's going
- 16:56Speaker 3: to be plenty active. And I want to go back
- 16:58Speaker 3: to a conversation that I had with Rosenthal on the
- 17:01Speaker 3: field there in Philadelphia, because he and I were talking,
- 17:04Speaker 3: We're catching up, and I'm like, yes, deadline's kind of
- 17:06Speaker 3: shaping up to be relatively boring, and he looked at
- 17:09Speaker 3: me and he's like, I disagree, and I'm like, you do.
- 17:11Speaker 3: He said, the deadline is never boring. So right now,
- 17:14Speaker 3: while we it seems like it might be boring, I
- 17:17Speaker 3: think we're gonna end up having some fireworks.
- 17:18Speaker 2: So I think I would stay tuned on that front
- 17:20Speaker 2: for sure.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah, since we're on that topic, would you believe that
- 17:26Speaker 4: GM's are going to be treating this trade deadline any
- 17:30Speaker 4: different knowing that there could be a work stoppage at
- 17:33Speaker 4: the end of the season.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I definitely think so for sure.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And in the fact of I would imagine we see
- 17:39Speaker 3: teams that have kind of sat on the sidelines in
- 17:41Speaker 3: years past, whether it's the Brewers, whether it's the Marlins.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I could see those guys being aggressive on.
- 17:46Speaker 3: The market, trying to make some different moves just so
- 17:49Speaker 3: they can show that they're adding to the payroll.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Because the Marlins.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Didn't do hardly anything in the offseason. You have the Brewers,
- 17:55Speaker 3: who have basically done nothing in free agency in years past.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Obviously they've done extensions, but free agency wise and just
- 18:02Speaker 3: trade wise, it's been relatively quiet on that front there
- 18:04Speaker 3: for them. But I would imagine those two teams are
- 18:07Speaker 3: going to be active, and I would imagine a lot
- 18:09Speaker 3: of these teams are going to be looking at players
- 18:11Speaker 3: who are controllable, who are cost effective, and obviously like
- 18:13Speaker 3: that's something you hear about plenty come deadline season, but
- 18:16Speaker 3: I think this year going it's going to be of
- 18:18Speaker 3: even more important. So I think those two things, or
- 18:21Speaker 3: that thing in particular, but those two teams are gonna
- 18:24Speaker 3: be ones that we should be watching here going forward here.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Going around the edges, you did talk about the Phillies
- 18:29Speaker 5: possibly you know, Devers at third base, possibly Joe Adell.
- 18:33Speaker 5: What it specifically are the Phillies' needs that they're going
- 18:36Speaker 5: to go after. And when you bring up the Devers
- 18:38Speaker 5: thing to play third for the long the long term,
- 18:41Speaker 5: you would get them at a cheaper price. They did
- 18:44Speaker 5: want to go after bo Bashitt. If that would happen,
- 18:48Speaker 5: would Alec Boehm find value that the Phillies are in
- 18:53Speaker 5: need of that you're about to tell us what the
- 18:56Speaker 5: Phillies need.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Yeah, And the guy that I thought made sense for
- 18:59Speaker 3: the fit, and it was something that I got from
- 19:02Speaker 3: rival exacts, it was Matt Chapman.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It wasn't Devers, even.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Though I think, oh no, no, you're totally good. But
- 19:08Speaker 3: I do think that I think that Chapman would be
- 19:11Speaker 3: a really strong fit there. But if you look at Philadelphia,
- 19:13Speaker 3: I think third base is a position they can absolutely
- 19:15Speaker 3: upgrade on. You can add to the rotation there, add
- 19:18Speaker 3: an outfield, they're there as well. Those to me seemed
- 19:21Speaker 3: like they should be the three priorities there. And Chapman,
- 19:23Speaker 3: as I said, would be a great fit at third base,
- 19:25Speaker 3: and they had money to spend in that position. They
- 19:28Speaker 3: thought they had Bobachette signed, like that deal was at
- 19:31Speaker 3: i'd say the five or ten yard line.
- 19:32Speaker 2: They just had a couple more things to go.
- 19:33Speaker 3: And then the Mets, who were lurking on Bashette all offseason,
- 19:36Speaker 3: went out and got him at at the very last second.
- 19:39Speaker 3: But out feel wise like this is a position where
- 19:41Speaker 3: I could see them trying to make a decent splash.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Whether it is a Joe Adell Taylor Ward, seems like
- 19:46Speaker 3: you'd be a great fit in Philadelphia too.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I think both of those.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Guys, especially Ward, could be some really strong fits that
- 19:52Speaker 3: we hear about plenty with Philadelphia for sure. And then
- 19:55Speaker 3: pitching wise, do they make a splash like obviously Dave
- 19:58Speaker 3: Dombroski has a deep hit stream of making splashes for
- 20:01Speaker 3: rotation help at the deadline could like I don't think
- 20:03Speaker 3: he's going to go out and get a guy like
- 20:05Speaker 3: Eric's Schoogle, but if they can end up adding somebody
- 20:08Speaker 3: that can make an impact in that rotation, I don't
- 20:10Speaker 3: think that they would hesitate. But if I'm making if
- 20:12Speaker 3: I'm Dave Dombrowski, which I'm not, but if I was,
- 20:15Speaker 3: I think outfield would be the position I'd try to
- 20:17Speaker 3: upgrade the most of the deadline here.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Hey Robert, there's a new way to follow you. Would
- 20:24Speaker 1: you like to share.
- 20:25Speaker 2: That I would.
- 20:26Speaker 3: This is a bit of a different thing for me,
- 20:29Speaker 3: so I posted about it on my Twitter yesterday. It's subtext,
- 20:33Speaker 3: So I wanted I have like a really loyal following
- 20:36Speaker 3: on Twitter, and these people have been just incredible to me,
- 20:39Speaker 3: and I want to have like direct one on one
- 20:41Speaker 3: access to people. So if you subscribe to me on subtext,
- 20:44Speaker 3: which you can find on my Twitter. I can have
- 20:47Speaker 3: direct conversations with you. I can answer your questions in
- 20:49Speaker 3: the moment, and I think it's going to be something
- 20:51Speaker 3: that really ends up allowing me to be closer to
- 20:54Speaker 3: everybody who follows me. And I would also say this,
- 20:57Speaker 3: I will be posting stuff in there and also in
- 21:00Speaker 3: my discord as well that people cannot find anywhere, so
- 21:04Speaker 3: I could. I would highly recommend going there adding me
- 21:07Speaker 3: and we can have one on.
- 21:08Speaker 2: One conversations and just we can talk ball.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's a it's a really cool thing and I've already
- 21:12Speaker 3: got a bunch of people who signed up, and honestly,
- 21:15Speaker 3: I absolutely love it.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I think it's freaking awesome.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And if you have a tip for Robert, he will
- 21:20Speaker 1: read it, will he use it depends what your sources
- 21:24Speaker 1: are like, but you know you who you want. It
- 21:28Speaker 1: depends who you are, or yeah, maybe maybe there's a
- 21:31Speaker 1: front office exec out there who's like, you know what.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I don't have a direct line to Robert. I'm just
- 21:35Speaker 1: gonna drop something in here on a little burner and
- 21:37Speaker 1: let him know a few things.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I mean, shoot, if you're an exec who's watching this,
- 21:42Speaker 3: please go on and do that because that'd be That'd
- 21:44Speaker 3: be pretty awesome.
- 21:44Speaker 5: I would love that.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That would be incredible. Wouldn't that be something?
- 21:49Speaker 1: There are exacts with Burners.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I got a text Fromeric. He's like, I'm just going
- 21:53Speaker 2: to text you directly. That's my guy right there. I'm not. Yeah,
- 21:56Speaker 2: we love him. That's that's been my guy for for years.
- 21:59Speaker 2: We love you.
- 22:00Speaker 1: We do, we do, Robert, You're the best.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 22:02Speaker 1: We'll talk soon.
- 22:03Speaker 2: That sounds good to me. Take care, boys, I appreciate you.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Fascinating reports coming out about the Olympics in twenty twenty
- 22:15Speaker 1: eight and player participation. I'll get to the nitty gritty
- 22:19Speaker 1: details as we discuss this, but basically, MLB has proposed
- 22:23Speaker 1: to the Players Association significant penalties if you do not
- 22:27Speaker 1: participate given an invitation right so, they want the best
- 22:33Speaker 1: of the best in the Olympics. MLB owners have now
- 22:36Speaker 1: agreed that they will let players take the break and
- 22:38Speaker 1: they'll do a longer break. They want you to participate
- 22:41Speaker 1: in the All Star Game if you're asked and participate
- 22:43Speaker 1: in the Olympics, or you would essentially be on their
- 22:45Speaker 1: restricted list for weeks and then you wouldn't be able
- 22:48Speaker 1: to play until early August after the All Star break.
- 22:52Speaker 1: You would lose service time, you would lose pay. Your excuse,
- 22:55Speaker 1: of course, can be the injured list. That's okay, but
- 22:57Speaker 1: they're going to be monitoring that and making sure that
- 22:59Speaker 1: there's not injury list manipulation. Again, I'll get into the
- 23:04Speaker 1: nitty graded details, but let's just start here, KP. If
- 23:06Speaker 1: you're asked and you're someone who doesn't want to play,
- 23:09Speaker 1: or maybe you're feeling a little bit banged up, but
- 23:11Speaker 1: it's not banged up enough to hit the injury list,
- 23:14Speaker 1: would you be pissed?
- 23:15Speaker 4: Or hey?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Should players actually have to participate? Since most of them
- 23:19Speaker 1: have been publicly asking for.
- 23:22Speaker 4: This, I'm trying to think how I feel about this.
- 23:27Speaker 4: It's a lot to unpack. I do feel like most players,
- 23:34Speaker 4: given the fact that they are going to have this
- 23:35Speaker 4: extended break and that they're not going to be missing games.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I feel like most players that are given the opportunity
- 23:43Speaker 4: to be asked to play for their country and represent
- 23:46Speaker 4: them in the Olympics would probably say yes. I don't
- 23:50Speaker 4: like any situation in life where someone's putting a gun
- 23:54Speaker 4: to your head and saying you have to do it,
- 23:56Speaker 4: or these are the things that are going to happen
- 23:57Speaker 4: to you restricted list. You know, if you're on IOW,
- 24:00Speaker 4: you can't come back to these certain times because you know,
- 24:03Speaker 4: me and Cratsey can both sit here. We played a
- 24:05Speaker 4: long time, and there's a lot of things that play
- 24:09Speaker 4: through physically and sometimes mentally, but physically that are not
- 24:14Speaker 4: IL worthy. But you're playing through and sometimes to you know,
- 24:19Speaker 4: have to go out and risk it even more when
- 24:22Speaker 4: your real obligation is to your organization. I think it's
- 24:26Speaker 4: a very tricky situation because clearly Baseball wants to get
- 24:30Speaker 4: their best players, and I wish they felt the same
- 24:33Speaker 4: way about the WBC, because it's like pulling teeth to
- 24:35Speaker 4: get some of these players to or some of these
- 24:37Speaker 4: organizations to allow their players to play. I get the
- 24:41Speaker 4: Olympics is a different level than the WBC, but yeah,
- 24:47Speaker 4: I don't like any situation where someone's forced to do
- 24:50Speaker 4: something that they don't want to do. I would love
- 24:52Speaker 4: for the best players in the world to want to
- 24:55Speaker 4: say yes to do this opportunity, but I don't think
- 24:58Speaker 4: forcing someone's hand by putting them on a restricted list,
- 25:01Speaker 4: not allowing someone who's on the IL to rehab a
- 25:04Speaker 4: certain time and kind of like manipulate that it's a
- 25:08Speaker 4: little bit of an interesting thing. What I will say
- 25:11Speaker 4: is I do love the fact that whether it's the
- 25:15Speaker 4: Players Association or Major League Baseball or collectively, they both
- 25:18Speaker 4: understand that the Olympics is a great opportunity to grow
- 25:21Speaker 4: the game. And the fact that they're willing to stop
- 25:23Speaker 4: the season to allow the best players to go out
- 25:27Speaker 4: and represent their countries. I do think is a win
- 25:29Speaker 4: for the game.
- 25:31Speaker 5: And the games are gonna be played in San Francisco
- 25:34Speaker 5: or in La wherever it is it's in. The games
- 25:37Speaker 5: are in America, so yeah, it helps Major League Baseball,
- 25:40Speaker 5: which is here in America like they had it when
- 25:44Speaker 5: it was in Japan. I was part of the qualifying
- 25:47Speaker 5: team to get there, and like, being an Olympian is
- 25:50Speaker 5: something that I think. I don't think I know a
- 25:53Speaker 5: lot of players, Americans, Dominicans, whatever it is you want
- 25:58Speaker 5: to say, you're a gold medalist. So I'm glad that
- 26:02Speaker 5: Major League Baseball has said, yes, it's cool, We're fine.
- 26:06Speaker 5: We're not being greedy with our WBC, which is the
- 26:09Speaker 5: reason we started it. We are actually joining forces with
- 26:14Speaker 5: USA Baseball, with Olympic Baseball, and I think that's awesome.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Because it's going to be a great stage for baseball.
- 26:23Speaker 5: But what I do not like is this isn't Major
- 26:26Speaker 5: League Baseball's tournament. And if they're going to strong arm
- 26:30Speaker 5: players right out the gate. And then they turned around
- 26:34Speaker 5: and they were like, well, it's because players, you know,
- 26:36Speaker 5: well the players. One is housing and tickets. Yeah, the
- 26:41Speaker 5: players don't want to live in the Olympic village. You
- 26:43Speaker 5: can't have professional athletes living in the Olympic village. You
- 26:46Speaker 5: can't have professional athletes living in areas like other amateur
- 26:52Speaker 5: athletes or you know whatever. It is like, it's just
- 26:54Speaker 5: not like it's okay. But this is not Major League
- 27:00Speaker 5: Baseball's event. This is the Olympics event. And I don't
- 27:03Speaker 5: want to see Major League Baseball strong armed players, strong
- 27:07Speaker 5: armed Team USA, Team Dominican, you know, the the head
- 27:11Speaker 5: coalitions for each of these countries, and to try to
- 27:16Speaker 5: strong arm Olympic, the Olympics, like this is the Olympics event.
- 27:20Speaker 5: You're not seeing the NHL is not strong arming their
- 27:23Speaker 5: players when they go to the Olympics to play hockey.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I don't want to see Major League Baseball do the
- 27:29Speaker 5: same thing.
- 27:31Speaker 1: No, many NHL teams, I think are hesitant with their players.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I mean almost every time to participates if they're healthy,
- 27:37Speaker 1: but they get worried about injuries. And I'm sure MLB
- 27:41Speaker 1: teams will feel the same way. So this is not
- 27:42Speaker 1: just for players, this is also for teams. Go back
- 27:45Speaker 1: to the World Baseball Classic. Teams are annoying about the
- 27:48Speaker 1: World Baseball Classic and usage, and Rob Manford spoke publicly
- 27:51Speaker 1: about all of this and said, this is different from
- 27:53Speaker 1: the WBC in terms of timing. This is right in
- 27:55Speaker 1: the middle of the season. They understand that guys need
- 27:58Speaker 1: to ramp up and it's weird for say pitchers to
- 28:01Speaker 1: necessarily be ready in the middle of spring training to
- 28:03Speaker 1: be in high stress situations. They understand that they're like,
- 28:06Speaker 1: in this case, we don't and we're sacrificing money and
- 28:10Speaker 1: the way the schedule is put together. I'm not saying
- 28:12Speaker 1: this is the right way, but I don't think they're
- 28:14Speaker 1: off here. You don't want a situation where it just
- 28:17Speaker 1: turns into a vacation for a number of players. I
- 28:20Speaker 1: don't think that's going to be the case for many
- 28:21Speaker 1: of them, but it might be for some.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Right, you might be.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Feeling the season a little bit.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Why what what.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Do you mean why would it be a vacation for
- 28:28Speaker 2: players if they.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Say, oh, I'm feeling a little bit of whatever, like
- 28:33Speaker 1: many all stars do. I'm feeling a little bit of this,
- 28:36Speaker 1: a bit of that.
- 28:37Speaker 5: But I don't understand why. Like, you committed to be
- 28:40Speaker 5: on the Olympics, you can say no, But if the
- 28:44Speaker 5: guys that say yes, you're in, Like, I don't think
- 28:46Speaker 5: those guys are committed. It's not going to be a
- 28:49Speaker 5: case where major LYUE Baseball says Okay, these are the
- 28:51Speaker 5: guys that are going you say no, Nope, you're suspended, Like,
- 28:56Speaker 5: I don't think like if guys want a vacation, they're
- 28:58Speaker 5: not going to say yes.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Nope, nope, nope.
- 29:01Speaker 1: You're misreading this invitation, not a yes invitation. If you
- 29:06Speaker 1: are invited and then you say no, restricted list, that's
- 29:11Speaker 1: not you're invited about Wait why.
- 29:15Speaker 5: So so you're just gonna call Kevin? You gotta go.
- 29:19Speaker 5: That's it.
- 29:20Speaker 3: What?
- 29:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like it's like the draft when you get
- 29:23Speaker 1: drafted for a war.
- 29:24Speaker 2: You gotta go.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You got the call.
- 29:26Speaker 4: That's not we're not But what if you have a
- 29:30Speaker 4: show hey knee and you need it drained no.
- 29:35Speaker 1: To be evaluated and you know who makes the final call.
- 29:38Speaker 1: At least according to this first pitch, it's going to
- 29:41Speaker 1: be your favorite who gets the final call, Roberto Jay Manfred.
- 29:47Speaker 1: But okay, my point is proposals get thrown out there.
- 29:50Speaker 1: This is what happens with the CBA. It's the same
- 29:51Speaker 1: thing with the Olympics. The one part I'm going to
- 29:54Speaker 1: defend here is I understand where the league is coming from.
- 29:57Speaker 1: We're uprooting everything because it has been requested that players
- 30:01Speaker 1: want to finally be involved in the Olympics. It is
- 30:04Speaker 1: in the US. We're going to have the All Star
- 30:06Speaker 1: Game in San Francisco, so it's right there. It's close
- 30:08Speaker 1: to LA right. We're doing all of this to line
- 30:11Speaker 1: it up. We don't want to look and be like, wait,
- 30:14Speaker 1: we just gave a bunch of players a three week vacation, right,
- 30:17Speaker 1: A ton of guys dropped out, and you've got guys in,
- 30:19Speaker 1: but you've got too many guys out and they want
- 30:20Speaker 1: to showcase the sport. That's the whole point here. It's
- 30:23Speaker 1: like the best advertising that you can do for the sport, right,
- 30:25Speaker 1: grow the game. So I get that, And how else
- 30:28Speaker 1: do you prevent this from happening where guys, especially pitchers, guys,
- 30:33Speaker 1: especially pitchers.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I get what you're saying, and I do understand that
- 30:38Speaker 4: the timing of this is better, especially from a pitching standpoint.
- 30:42Speaker 4: And did they say that they're going to extend the
- 30:45Speaker 4: break for the Olympics, but they're not going to make
- 30:46Speaker 4: up the games. The season would just be shorter. I
- 30:48Speaker 4: want to be fair.
- 30:49Speaker 1: No, No, they haven't announced this yet, but I would
- 30:51Speaker 1: almost guarantee you that they'll just jam the season with
- 30:53Speaker 1: less off days and more doubleheaders whatever. To still you're one,
- 30:56Speaker 1: So I don't like that.
- 30:57Speaker 4: I think, if you know, you make the something special
- 31:01Speaker 4: that only comes around so many years. And I can't
- 31:03Speaker 4: even say every four years because each summer Olympic host
- 31:08Speaker 4: city determines what are the Olympic sports. The fact that
- 31:11Speaker 4: it's in America, they're making baseball in Olympic sports, so
- 31:13Speaker 4: we can't even call it every four years. I think
- 31:16Speaker 4: they should just shorten the season. You want to get
- 31:18Speaker 4: the best pitchers in the world to pitch in it,
- 31:20Speaker 4: shorten the season. These guys kind of stay on their
- 31:23Speaker 4: normal routine of pitching every five days. The innings kind
- 31:26Speaker 4: of end up remotely around the same time. If you're
- 31:29Speaker 4: asking the best pitchers in the world to go pitch
- 31:32Speaker 4: and then have to go make up games on the
- 31:34Speaker 4: back end. I don't think you're going to get the
- 31:36Speaker 4: best players in the world to do it. And how
- 31:39Speaker 4: to get these players? And I get what you're saying,
- 31:41Speaker 4: Scott that if I got an invitation, and yes, I
- 31:44Speaker 4: want to represent my country, but it's like, Okay, I
- 31:46Speaker 4: could go play in the Olympics, or I can have
- 31:49Speaker 4: a three week vacation. There's going to be some people
- 31:52Speaker 4: that want to take some time off, you know, not
- 31:56Speaker 4: to say that their vacation is not to say their
- 31:59Speaker 4: vacation them traveling around Europe. I think the organ that
- 32:04Speaker 4: the team's individual teams are going to maybe give the
- 32:06Speaker 4: players a week off. Then they'd have to be in
- 32:08Speaker 4: their host city. They'd probably be doing inner squads kind
- 32:11Speaker 4: of staying game ready. Because that's a challenge for the
- 32:14Speaker 4: players that don't go play too is it is a
- 32:16Speaker 4: long time to be off, so there will be you know,
- 32:19Speaker 4: workouts and things going on to keep those players fresh.
- 32:22Speaker 4: But the simple answer to your question, Scott is how
- 32:24Speaker 4: do I get these players to commit? It's compensation. No
- 32:28Speaker 4: matter how much money players have, they can always use
- 32:32Speaker 4: more So if you want these guys to commit the
- 32:34Speaker 4: best players in the world, whether it's Major League Baseball,
- 32:37Speaker 4: whether it's the Olympic Committee, whether it's USA Baseball, you
- 32:40Speaker 4: compensate these guys, you know, a good fair amount of money,
- 32:44Speaker 4: and most guys are probably gonna say yes, not only
- 32:47Speaker 4: to the fact that they're going to get a chance
- 32:48Speaker 4: to represent their country, but they're going to get that
- 32:51Speaker 4: added incentive of making more money.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And it's two weeks, I guess Krats, you're correct to me, right, yeah,
- 32:57Speaker 1: it's but still that's a July seventh, last day of
- 33:00Speaker 1: games under this scenario, and then they would pick it
- 33:03Speaker 1: back up on July.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Twenty first, and also a couple of weeks.
- 33:08Speaker 1: That's a long time. I mean, it's a once in
- 33:10Speaker 1: a lifetime opportunity for a team that has a young
- 33:12Speaker 1: pitcher to say, hey, Chase Burns, Hey Cam Schlitzler, we
- 33:15Speaker 1: don't want you pitching. I'm not just talking about the
- 33:17Speaker 1: players with this, I'm talking about teams. Teams are actually
- 33:19Speaker 1: worse here. They're the offenders, right, They're going to pressure
- 33:22Speaker 1: their pitchers to be.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Like, so, can we make the penalty? Can we make
- 33:27Speaker 4: the penalty on the can we make the penalty on
- 33:30Speaker 4: the organization. And I don't know what that looks back.
- 33:33Speaker 4: But let's say let's say Cam Schultzer does get an
- 33:35Speaker 4: invite and he's like, I want to do it. He
- 33:37Speaker 4: runs it by the New York Yankees, and the Yankees
- 33:40Speaker 4: say no, they should be penalized, not the players.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Why.
- 33:44Speaker 5: That's why.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That's why I'm I don't know what that looks like,
- 33:48Speaker 4: but that's where my gut tells me that that that's
- 33:51Speaker 4: where it needs. The penalty needs to be on the organization,
- 33:54Speaker 4: not the player.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Trying to penalize your organization too by saying your player
- 33:57Speaker 1: can't play again until August third.
- 34:00Speaker 5: No chance, no chance. The owners are trying to penalize
- 34:03Speaker 5: any other owners. I disagree.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Let's end with this. So you guys say there should
- 34:09Speaker 1: be none of this, right, Like, what's the conclusion to
- 34:11Speaker 1: get players to play? None of this? You just say
- 34:12Speaker 1: it's an invite.
- 34:13Speaker 2: If you play, you play.
- 34:14Speaker 1: If you don't, you don't, Because I guarantee you most
- 34:16Speaker 1: American pitchers are not going to want to participate.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I'm telling you I disagree.
- 34:19Speaker 5: I disagree. You get one start, you get one star.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Also think if they don't make a start. The I
- 34:26Speaker 4: also think if they don't have to play the additional
- 34:29Speaker 4: games and they're kind of staying within that kind of
- 34:32Speaker 4: any limit that they're well, I think it should because,
- 34:36Speaker 4: like I said, I know we have this idea of
- 34:38Speaker 4: history of the rule book, but every let's just call
- 34:40Speaker 4: it once every eight years, the summer Olympics are going
- 34:43Speaker 4: to have baseball. No, I understand, but you're telling me.
- 34:47Speaker 4: I know it's money. I know it's gates at all
- 34:49Speaker 4: these certain stadiums. I know, I know money makes everything
- 34:52Speaker 4: go round. But you're telling me that there's not a
- 34:55Speaker 4: piece of it for all these franchises with their players
- 34:59Speaker 4: playing in the Olympics. They're going to get their money.
- 35:03Speaker 1: No, they're not going to get paid much for the Olympics.
- 35:05Speaker 1: That's not a thing. And the IOC is a different
- 35:08Speaker 1: beast and they don't give a crap. They will hold
- 35:09Speaker 1: firm on that they're gonna give them the same thing
- 35:11Speaker 1: the NHLers get, which is like tickets and nice accommodations.
- 35:15Speaker 1: They're either getting little to no.
- 35:16Speaker 4: People.
- 35:16Speaker 1: It's not going to Yeah, but it's not that's it's
- 35:20Speaker 1: not a lot. So it's I'm just telling you guys,
- 35:23Speaker 1: this is how it is, and that's why it's good.
- 35:24Speaker 1: There's there's going to be a lot of back and
- 35:25Speaker 1: forth here, but the one side I do understand is
- 35:28Speaker 1: we need the best pitchers participating in this or it's
- 35:32Speaker 1: a crappier product.
- 35:34Speaker 5: I also, we're going to get the head of tm
- 35:36Speaker 5: USA ow because I've seen and been part of the
- 35:39Speaker 5: whole making the roster for the Olympics. I was part
- 35:43Speaker 5: of that, and he's the head of it. I'm really
- 35:46Speaker 5: interested in seeing how it's going to be different if
- 35:49Speaker 5: this whole thing goes through. Because everybody's in negotiations. To me,
- 35:54Speaker 5: I think they're asking too much. Majorague Baseball is overstepping themselves,
- 35:59Speaker 5: saying well, we pick you, you gotta go. No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 36:02Speaker 5: this isn't this isn't war. No. I'm gonna do what
- 36:05Speaker 5: I need to do.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Hey, I will say, I will. I will say. This
- 36:10Speaker 4: is the first thing that has come out that I
- 36:14Speaker 4: think they're actually somewhere in the same ballpark of actually
- 36:18Speaker 4: coming to an agreement on something. I don't think it's
- 36:20Speaker 4: so far off that it's unreasonable. I do think there
- 36:23Speaker 4: are some things that need to be tweaked, but I
- 36:25Speaker 4: don't think we're starting on opposite ends of the football
- 36:28Speaker 4: field right now. I do think they are a little
- 36:29Speaker 4: bit closer to coming to common ground. This is the
- 36:33Speaker 4: first thing that i've any sort of proposal I've seen
- 36:35Speaker 4: come out where I do feel like common ground is
- 36:38Speaker 4: not impossible to get to.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I agree because this is also sneaky for players to
- 36:42Speaker 1: get some protection against teams that are going to pressure
- 36:45Speaker 1: them to not participate. So there's a lot going on
- 36:48Speaker 1: here and it's a good debate. I'm glad we talked
- 36:49Speaker 1: it out. We'll have more of this
