- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome. I am so glad that you've joined
- 0:18Speaker 1: us for the Fearless Town Hall. We're so excited to
- 0:23Speaker 1: be here tonight to have a conversation, a conversation about
- 0:26Speaker 1: something very important. It's an emotional An emotion that seems
- 0:31Speaker 1: to be dominating the emotional psyche of our globe right now.
- 0:34Speaker 1: That emotion is fear.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And so it's time to talk about it.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And not just talk about how it's going to control us,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but how we're going to gain control over it. And
- 0:45Speaker 1: I can't think of anybody I'd rather have a conversation
- 0:48Speaker 1: with than Max Lucado. Max, as you know, is a
- 0:52Speaker 1: long-time pastor. He's been at the Oak Hills Church for
- 0:55Speaker 1: more than 20 years. In fact, tonight we're coming to
- 0:58Speaker 1: you from the Oak Hills Church in the beautiful city
- 1:00Speaker 1: of San Antonio in the great state of Texas. You
- 1:03Speaker 1: also know Max is a best-selling author. He has over
- 1:06Speaker 1: 65 million books in print. He's written books for adults, children,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and Bible studies. So he's known for his words of
- 1:13Speaker 1: encouragement and his messages of hope. So tonight, will you
- 1:18Speaker 1: help me welcome Max Lucado.
- 1:38Speaker 2: When I was six years old, my dad let me
- 1:40Speaker 2: stay up with my two older sisters and watch the
- 1:42Speaker 2: movie Wolfman. Boy, did he live to regret that decision.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Because I became convinced that Wolfman lived behind our television.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Right there in our living room, I believe that Wolfman
- 2:01Speaker 2: made his home. And that fact proved problematic. Because in
- 2:07Speaker 2: order for me to go from my bedroom into the kitchen,
- 2:11Speaker 2: guess where I had to go? Right past Wolfman! And
- 2:17Speaker 2: I would awaken in the middle of the night as
- 2:19Speaker 2: I was prone to... My dad had trained me to
- 2:22Speaker 2: go get my own glass of water, not to wake
- 2:25Speaker 2: him up. I remember one night that I took a
- 2:29Speaker 2: step into the living room and I could hear Wolfman growl.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And I knew that he was just behind the television
- 2:37Speaker 2: set waiting for his midnight snack of six-year-old, freckled-faced, red-headed boy.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And I... froze. My little heart was pounding inside my chest.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So what could I do? But I went into my
- 2:52Speaker 2: dad's bedroom and I woke him up and he opened
- 2:57Speaker 2: one eye and said, what's wrong? And I reminded him
- 3:01Speaker 2: about Wolfman who lived in our living room. And he
- 3:06Speaker 2: let out a sigh. He said, all right. And he
- 3:10Speaker 2: climbed up out of bed and he started walking toward
- 3:15Speaker 2: the living room. And I grabbed his t-shirt and I
- 3:18Speaker 2: followed him right past the lair, the hangout of Wolfman.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And you know what? My dad didn't flinch. He didn't
- 3:29Speaker 2: step back. He didn't stiffen up. He wasn't even afraid.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And I can remember drinking that glass of water, looking
- 3:37Speaker 2: up at him thinking, what kind of man is this?
- 3:44Speaker 2: The disciples asked a question like that on the Sea
- 3:47Speaker 2: of Galilee. That Jesus, having just slept through a storm,
- 3:54Speaker 2: they woke him up. He asked them, now why are
- 3:58Speaker 2: you afraid? And then he spoke to the storm. And
- 4:01Speaker 2: the stormy sea became a glassy lake. And they looked
- 4:07Speaker 2: at him and said, what kind of man is this?
- 4:12Speaker 2: That even the winds and the seas obey him. I
- 4:17Speaker 2: love this discussion about fear because I really believe that
- 4:21Speaker 2: Jesus wants us to lead lives in which we fear less.
- 4:27Speaker 2: There is a place for appropriate fear to alarm us
- 4:30Speaker 2: to impending danger. But it's the maltreatment of fear, the
- 4:37Speaker 2: inappropriate treatment of fear that does damage to us. And
- 4:42Speaker 2: could it be that the Same outlook that my father
- 4:48Speaker 2: had toward that wolf man is the outlook that your
- 4:52Speaker 2: heavenly father has toward fears that right now are keeping
- 4:56Speaker 2: you awake. And could it be that in this conversation
- 5:00Speaker 2: about fear that you'll find some courage? That's our prayer.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Absolutely, Max. Tonight, we're going to have live questions from
- 5:10Speaker 1: the audience. We're going to have Twitter questions, email questions,
- 5:12Speaker 1: Facebook questions. It's going to be a wonderful evening. In fact,
- 5:16Speaker 1: we've had several hundred questions submitted from around the world
- 5:20Speaker 1: for tonight's town hall, so we're excited about it. To
- 5:22Speaker 1: start us off, sir, tell us your name and where
- 5:24Speaker 1: you're from.
- 5:25Speaker 3: My name is Ernest, and I'm from Los Angeles, California.
- 5:28Speaker 3: My question is, on a daily basis, we're bombarded by
- 5:31Speaker 3: the media, the headlines, with the worst-case scenarios, such as illness, war, terrorism,
- 5:38Speaker 3: and financial collapse. And these are very real concerns. What
- 5:43Speaker 3: type of advice would you give to us?
- 5:45Speaker 2: These are very real concerns. These questions of worst case scenarios.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And they're everywhere, aren't they? I think the advice here
- 5:52Speaker 2: is that Jesus told us this would happen. On the
- 5:56Speaker 2: week before his crucifixion, he had an honest heart-to-heart talk
- 5:59Speaker 2: with his disciples. And he said, in the days, years,
- 6:03Speaker 2: centuries ahead, you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.
- 6:10Speaker 2: There will be earthquakes. There will be apostasy. There will
- 6:12Speaker 2: be a massive turning around. He said, the love of
- 6:15Speaker 2: many will turn cold. But then he said, see to
- 6:19Speaker 2: it that you are not alarmed. It's one of his
- 6:22Speaker 2: do not be afraid statements. See to it that you
- 6:25Speaker 2: are not alarmed or not overcome by fear. And the
- 6:29Speaker 2: word here is a unique word. Jesus only uses it
- 6:32Speaker 2: one time when he talks about fear. And he does
- 6:34Speaker 2: in the case of these calamities, in the case of
- 6:37Speaker 2: these natural disasters. He says, see to it that you
- 6:40Speaker 2: are not alarmed. In the best translation, I think, would
- 6:43Speaker 2: read something like this. See to it that you don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: freak out. Don't freak out. It's going to happen. But
- 6:53Speaker 2: these things must happen, he says. And then the end
- 6:57Speaker 2: will come. So, we don't go to either extreme. One
- 7:03Speaker 2: extreme is the chicken little who runs around saying... The
- 7:09Speaker 2: sky is falling. The sky is falling. The sky is falling.
- 7:11Speaker 2: The sky is falling. We don't freak out. But nor
- 7:16Speaker 2: do we take the approach of Pollyanna. Pollyanna is the
- 7:21Speaker 2: person who says, oh, nothing bad is happening. Nothing bad
- 7:23Speaker 2: is happening. Nothing bad is happening. Nothing bad is happening.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It's all blue. It's all good. It's not blue. It's
- 7:29Speaker 2: not good. This world stinks sometimes. There's cancer in this world.
- 7:34Speaker 2: There's death in this world. There's There's sadness in this world.
- 7:37Speaker 2: There are orphans in this world. There's hunger in this world.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And sometimes you're going to pray for things and the
- 7:43Speaker 2: prayer's not going to be answered in the way you
- 7:45Speaker 2: want it. And it's hard to be a Pollyanna when
- 7:49Speaker 2: there's thunderstorms. But somewhere in between Chicken Little and Pollyanna
- 7:55Speaker 2: is the sobered, honest disciple of Christ who doesn't freak
- 8:02Speaker 2: out at the presence of problems. And doesn't lose faith
- 8:08Speaker 2: when problems come. They know that all of these problems
- 8:12Speaker 2: are a natural unfolding of events. Somewhat like birth pains,
- 8:18Speaker 2: Jesus said, in that same teaching. He said, these are
- 8:22Speaker 2: birth pains. Now, I'm not going to begin to suggest
- 8:25Speaker 2: I know what birth pains are like. But I do
- 8:28Speaker 2: know that birth pains signal the onset of the final push. Right? Right? Mothers,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you don't go through nine months of birth pains, right?
- 8:40Speaker 2: And so even though they're painful, aren't they a good signal?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Some crowning is about to happen. And that's what this
- 8:49Speaker 2: push that we're in right now in history is suggesting.
- 8:53Speaker 2: We're almost there, he says, and then the end will come.
- 8:57Speaker 2: So don't freak out.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Susan?
- 9:02Speaker 1: This comes to us from Anna in London, England. And
- 9:06Speaker 1: this is representative of many questions, Max. This one came
- 9:09Speaker 1: in several times. How can I get free of the
- 9:11Speaker 1: fear that God might not love me? I'm always afraid
- 9:15Speaker 1: that I'm not perfect enough or I don't do enough
- 9:18Speaker 1: or pray enough or care enough.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I really believe that the Amazon River out of which
- 9:27Speaker 2: all other fears flow is this one. And that is
- 9:31Speaker 2: the fear that I don't matter to God. And because
- 9:35Speaker 2: I don't matter to God I don't matter to anyone else.
- 9:39Speaker 2: That my life has no purpose. That I'm nothing more
- 9:43Speaker 2: than a dash between two dates on a cemetery tombstone.
- 9:48Speaker 2: That's it. We fear nothingness. We fear evaporation. We fear
- 9:56Speaker 2: coming and going and no one knowing. It's this fear
- 10:00Speaker 2: that we have that we don't matter much. And this
- 10:04Speaker 2: fear that we don't matter, this fear of insignificance, causes
- 10:11Speaker 2: us to do some crazy things. Causes us to spend
- 10:15Speaker 2: half a month's salary on a pair of designer jeans.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Just so that we'll have some Italian name on our
- 10:22Speaker 2: rear end. And we'll feel really special for a while.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And then those Italian jeans will go from tight to
- 10:33Speaker 2: baggy or from low cut to high rise. And there
- 10:37Speaker 2: we're stuck with fancy pair of jeans and not much money.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And we're trying to keep up. What things have you
- 10:46Speaker 2: and I done in our lives that trying to state
- 10:49Speaker 2: to everybody that we see, hey, I matter. I matter.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm worth something. But the big message of Jesus in
- 10:58Speaker 2: one of his do not fear statements is, don't be afraid.
- 11:03Speaker 2: You are worth more than all the sparrows. The very
- 11:11Speaker 2: hairs of your head are numbered. Raise your hand if
- 11:16Speaker 2: you know how many hairs you have. God's hand in
- 11:20Speaker 2: heaven just went up. That's how much you matter to him.
- 11:25Speaker 2: He keeps a running tally on the number of hairs
- 11:28Speaker 2: you have. And some of us, that tally is changing
- 11:31Speaker 2: from day to day. He knows more about you than
- 11:35Speaker 2: you know about you. You're worth more than a sparrow.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And he says that in the context of not a
- 11:41Speaker 2: sparrow falls to the ground and your father doesn't know it.
- 11:46Speaker 2: And you're worth more than a sparrow, he says. So
- 11:51Speaker 2: how can you know that you matter? I'll tell you
- 11:54Speaker 2: how you can know that you matter. You look at
- 11:57Speaker 2: the story of God who became a human being and
- 12:00Speaker 2: walked on the earth. He became one of us because
- 12:04Speaker 2: he loves us. And this perfect love that he knew
- 12:08Speaker 2: came not just to save us from our sins and
- 12:11Speaker 2: defeat our death, but to deliver us from this sense of,
- 12:15Speaker 2: I don't have any purpose. I don't have any meaning.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I don't have any value. Because when he died on
- 12:20Speaker 2: the cross, he announced your value. That you're worth the
- 12:24Speaker 2: very precious blood of Christ. I think that's something that's
- 12:29Speaker 2: worth looking in the mirror and saying, you know, I
- 12:31Speaker 2: guess I do matter something. Because I matter to God.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Susan?
- 12:36Speaker 1: This comes from Dan in Ontario, Canada. And Dan says,
- 12:40Speaker 1: he works in manufacturing, a sector that has suffered in
- 12:42Speaker 1: our economic downturn. And I fear losing my job every day.
- 12:47Speaker 1: How can I fear less in this situation?
- 12:51Speaker 2: How do we have courage in a changing economy? How
- 12:57Speaker 2: do we have courage when they're laying people off at work?
- 13:02Speaker 2: How do we have courage when pink slips are falling
- 13:06Speaker 2: out of the sky and the news reports are about
- 13:10Speaker 2: a plunging economy? Well, Scripture is pretty clear on this
- 13:16Speaker 2: one too. This time it's the Apostle Paul who said,
- 13:21Speaker 2: to all of us, do not put your hope in riches,
- 13:27Speaker 2: which are so uncertain. Now, some of you just tuned
- 13:34Speaker 2: out and you said, okay, that's not me because I
- 13:35Speaker 2: don't have any riches. Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do.
- 13:41Speaker 2: If you make more than a dollar a day, you
- 13:43Speaker 2: make more than about 50% of the people in the world.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So you're already in the top half. So, yeah, you do.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So the instruction then to all of us is don't
- 13:54Speaker 2: put your hope in riches. Because if you put your
- 13:57Speaker 2: hope in riches, you'll end up living in fear. Why?
- 14:02Speaker 2: Because riches are so uncertain. In the last 50 years,
- 14:07Speaker 2: there have been 10 recessions in the worldwide economy. Losing
- 14:15Speaker 2: and plunging the economy into a point where billions of
- 14:18Speaker 2: dollars was lost, but then eventually regained, but then lost.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And the promise of Scripture is the same, or the
- 14:24Speaker 2: teaching of Scripture is the same. When it comes to money,
- 14:26Speaker 2: let's don't trust it. So what do we do? Well,
- 14:30Speaker 2: we trust in our Heavenly Father. We obey what Scripture
- 14:34Speaker 2: says about money. We're thrifty. We tithe, we give 10%
- 14:40Speaker 2: of what we earn. We stay out of debt like
- 14:45Speaker 2: the plague. We avoided every chance that we get. We
- 14:50Speaker 2: don't spend money that we have not yet earned. We
- 14:54Speaker 2: just put on common sense principles. And then we pray.
- 14:59Speaker 2: And then we pray. And in tough times, we say, Lord,
- 15:03Speaker 2: guide me through this. Boy, you've been faithful all my life.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I know you'll be faithful this time. I'm not saying
- 15:09Speaker 2: it's easy. I'm really not. And I know probably some
- 15:12Speaker 2: people are hearing this and saying, boy, I wish it
- 15:14Speaker 2: were that easy. But listen, financial tough times are just
- 15:19Speaker 2: like physical tough times. They can be used by God
- 15:24Speaker 2: to deepen our faith. So don't bail out on God
- 15:27Speaker 2: right now. Don't bail out on him. Keep praying. Keep trusting.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Seek financial counsel. Get your financial house in order as
- 15:35Speaker 2: much as you can. And it's going to turn out
- 15:37Speaker 2: all right.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Tell us your name and where you're from.
- 15:40Speaker 2: My name's Gail.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I'm from San Antonio. Pastor Max, can fear ever be
- 15:45Speaker 1: a good thing?
- 15:47Speaker 2: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
- 15:50Speaker 2: So fear is a good thing when it's a fear
- 15:52Speaker 2: of God. Now, in Scripture, fear of God really means
- 15:56Speaker 2: a reverence of God. Not the kind of fear where
- 15:59Speaker 2: we're running and hiding from God, but a fear of
- 16:02Speaker 2: respect and of awe. And we learn this because of
- 16:05Speaker 2: the time that Jesus took Peter, James, and John up
- 16:08Speaker 2: on the Mount of Transfiguration. It's a great story. And
- 16:14Speaker 2: Jesus is transfigured before them. In other words, light comes.
- 16:18Speaker 2: He becomes kind of like a spiritual bonfire. He illuminates
- 16:22Speaker 2: in front of them. And Moses and Elijah come, and
- 16:25Speaker 2: they have a conversation with him. And Peter is so
- 16:28Speaker 2: overwhelmed by what he sees, he says, well, we need
- 16:31Speaker 2: to build some kind of tabernacle and honor this moment
- 16:34Speaker 2: one for you one for you and one for you
- 16:36Speaker 2: Jesus and God speaks out of the heavens and says
- 16:39Speaker 2: oh no no no this is my beloved son in
- 16:43Speaker 2: whom I am well pleased hear ye him because you
- 16:46Speaker 2: see the mistake that Peter was making is that he
- 16:48Speaker 2: was lumping Jesus in with Peter and Elijah he was
- 16:54Speaker 2: saying that Jesus is just a he's a great person
- 16:57Speaker 2: worthy of a tabernacle his own but he's one of
- 17:00Speaker 2: three And God is saying, oh no, Jesus shares the
- 17:07Speaker 2: stage with no one. No one. He's either everything or nothing.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And so that's when Peter fell on his face and
- 17:16Speaker 2: he was greatly afraid. And so did James and so
- 17:20Speaker 2: did John. And that kind of fear is good. They
- 17:24Speaker 2: needed to know that Jesus was a great big God.
- 17:28Speaker 2: You know why? Because they were about to face some
- 17:31Speaker 2: great big challenges. They were about to be persecuted for
- 17:35Speaker 2: their faith. They were about to be threatened by the
- 17:38Speaker 2: Roman government. They were about to travel around the world
- 17:42Speaker 2: on behalf of Christ. They needed to know how big
- 17:45Speaker 2: Jesus was, that he is over and higher than anyone else.
- 17:48Speaker 2: And so God allowed that fear to take root in
- 17:52Speaker 2: their heart. And I guess a good question for you
- 17:54Speaker 2: and me would be, do we fear Jesus? Or do
- 17:57Speaker 2: we just think, well, he is, he's a good man. Boy,
- 17:59Speaker 2: he had some good things to say. Hey, that won't
- 18:01Speaker 2: cut it. Because if your fear of Jesus is not great,
- 18:06Speaker 2: your fears in life will be. But if your fear
- 18:11Speaker 2: of Jesus is great, in other words, your respect of
- 18:14Speaker 2: Jesus is great, then your fears will diminish. But listen,
- 18:17Speaker 2: you've got cancer cells. You've got economy issues. You've got
- 18:21Speaker 2: marital challenges. You've got big problems. So you need a
- 18:25Speaker 2: big God. So the bigger your understanding of God is,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and it can never be too big, then the greater
- 18:31Speaker 2: your courage will be. And that's the kind of reverence
- 18:34Speaker 2: that is the beginning of all wisdom.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Okay? Wow, incredible questions tonight. And I would love to
- 18:39Speaker 1: just stay for a lot longer and hear more wonderful questions.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But as our final question, I want to be sure
- 18:45Speaker 1: to get this one in because, honestly, this is representative
- 18:49Speaker 1: of hundreds of questions. So many people ask some form
- 18:53Speaker 1: of this. And this comes through Facebook from Betty in Australia.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I'm so afraid of thinking all this time I was
- 18:59Speaker 1: going to heaven. And then ending up somewhere else. How
- 19:03Speaker 1: can I be sure that my kids and I will
- 19:06Speaker 1: get to heaven?
- 19:08Speaker 2: No more important question than that, is there? And God
- 19:11Speaker 2: loves you too much to leave you living in the
- 19:14Speaker 2: shadow of a doubt. It is possible for you to
- 19:18Speaker 2: pillow your head tonight with absolute certainty that if you
- 19:21Speaker 2: do not wake up on this earth, you will awaken
- 19:23Speaker 2: in heaven. And here's how you can know. Because you
- 19:26Speaker 2: deposit your life in the hands of Jesus Christ. As
- 19:31Speaker 2: your Savior. Not just as a moral teacher. Not just
- 19:34Speaker 2: as a great leader. Not just as a revolutionary. But
- 19:38Speaker 2: that you deposit your soul. In the hands of Jesus Christ.
- 19:42Speaker 2: As your Savior. What does that mean? That means that
- 19:46Speaker 2: when Jesus died on the cross. He became your Savior.
- 19:50Speaker 2: he saved you from your sins he saved you from
- 19:53Speaker 2: your spirit of rebellion from your anger from your contrariness
- 19:57Speaker 2: all those times whether by word or deed you've told
- 19:59Speaker 2: god i know more than you do and you've done
- 20:01Speaker 2: what you knew you shouldn't have done that's called sin
- 20:05Speaker 2: on the cross jesus paid the price he became our
- 20:09Speaker 2: substitute He paid the price, an adequate and sufficient price,
- 20:13Speaker 2: for every sin that's ever been committed by any person
- 20:16Speaker 2: since the beginning of time. Because He Himself never sinned.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And so in the great economy and kindness of God,
- 20:23Speaker 2: God took all of our sins and placed them on
- 20:26Speaker 2: Christ and punished our sins there. So our sins were
- 20:30Speaker 2: punished on Jesus Christ. And He died the death that
- 20:35Speaker 2: we deserve to die. He took our place. He took
- 20:38Speaker 2: your place. But you know, just because he offers you
- 20:42Speaker 2: a gift doesn't mean you've accepted it, does it? He
- 20:45Speaker 2: offers you this gift of salvation. You accept it. And
- 20:49Speaker 2: once you accept it by faith, then you can be
- 20:51Speaker 2: certain of this. You may not know what changes are coming.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And you may not know what the future holds on
- 20:57Speaker 2: this earth. But you can know this, that in heaven,
- 21:00Speaker 2: God writes your name in a book. He calls it
- 21:03Speaker 2: the book of life, not the book of death. Because
- 21:06Speaker 2: you have been transferred from death into life, from darkness
- 21:10Speaker 2: into light. So of all the fears that you live with,
- 21:14Speaker 2: there's one that you don't have to live with. And
- 21:16Speaker 2: that is the fear of eternity. Because God loves you
- 21:19Speaker 2: too much to leave you living in the shadow of doubt.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Put your trust in Him. Just trust Him as your Savior.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And what He did on that wonderful Easter weekend, He
- 21:31Speaker 2: will do for you. He will call you out of
- 21:34Speaker 2: the grave. And you will enjoy an eternity that has
- 21:39Speaker 2: no fear. That's a pretty good promise, isn't it?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Max, thank you. As we close tonight, do you have
- 21:47Speaker 1: just a word of advice or some action steps that
- 21:50Speaker 1: you would want us to take as we try to
- 21:52Speaker 1: battle fear?
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'm wanting to recruit an army of courage. And I'm
- 21:56Speaker 2: wanting to find some people who are willing to say,
- 21:58Speaker 2: you know, enough of this fear. Enough of this fear.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I just realized that fear is an option. all right,
- 22:06Speaker 2: I'm going to start bidding farewell to fear. It's taken
- 22:09Speaker 2: enough joy, taken enough sleep, taken enough peace, taken enough happiness,
- 22:13Speaker 2: no more. And I'm going to put a stake in
- 22:16Speaker 2: the ground. So here's what I want you to do.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I want you to go to maxlocato.com and I want
- 22:21Speaker 2: you to put a stake in the ground. What does
- 22:23Speaker 2: that mean? That means you're going to sign up to
- 22:25Speaker 2: be a part of the army of courage. Just put
- 22:28Speaker 2: your name there. Just so we'll all know we're in
- 22:30Speaker 2: this thing together. Nobody's going to send you anything or
- 22:33Speaker 2: sell you anything. We're just going to get all our
- 22:35Speaker 2: names on there, and then we'll all read those names,
- 22:37Speaker 2: and we'll say, you look at all these people all
- 22:39Speaker 2: over the world, from Australia to London to Switzerland to
- 22:43Speaker 2: San Antonio, who are declaring war on fear. I'm a
- 22:47Speaker 2: part of that army of courage. And we'll pray for
- 22:50Speaker 2: each other. We may not know each other's stories, but
- 22:52Speaker 2: we'll see the names, and we'll just read over those
- 22:55Speaker 2: thousands of names and say, Lord, wherever that person is today,
- 22:58Speaker 2: Give them some courage and grant me some courage too.
- 23:01Speaker 2: You want to enlist? I hope you will. Let's see
- 23:04Speaker 2: if we can declare war on fear. Let's see if
- 23:08Speaker 2: we can trust more in fearless.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Amen.
- 23:45Speaker 2: You don't have.
- 23:46Speaker 4: To be near me.
- 23:51Speaker 5: You don't have to stay close. As long as you're
- 23:58Speaker 5: somewhere out there, that's enough for me.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I don't need to hold you near me.
- 24:10Speaker 5: Don't need promises to keep. Just the thought that you
- 24:15Speaker 5: are breathing Somewhere in this world I see Even if
- 24:21Speaker 5: I'm not beside you Even if you never know There's
- 24:27Speaker 5: a quiet kind of comfort Just in knowing you still
- 24:32Speaker 5: glow I don't need forever I just need you to exist.
- 24:46Speaker 4: You don't have to stay with me.
- 24:49Speaker 5: You don't have to feel the same.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Just as long as you're still out there.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Calling softly through my days.
- 24:59Speaker 1: You don't have.
- 25:00Speaker 2: To look my way.
- 25:02Speaker 5: You don't have to be my home. It's enough to
- 25:07Speaker 5: know you're living in a world I'm not alone. I
- 25:16Speaker 5: won't chase you through the distance. Won't disturb your chosen life.
- 25:23Speaker 5: I'll just keep you in my silence like a star
- 25:26Speaker 5: that shines at night. Through the dark and through the blue.
- 25:37Speaker 6: I still think of you. You don't have to be
- 25:46Speaker 6: my home.
- 25:48Speaker 4: It's enough to know you're living in a world.
- 25:52Speaker 5: I'm not alone. I don't need to be your light
- 26:27Speaker 5: I don't need to cross your mind All I need
- 26:30Speaker 5: is just the truth That you're somewhere Still alive Still alive.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You don't have to stay with me You don't have
- 26:43Speaker 4: to feel the same Just as long as you're still
- 26:48Speaker 4: out there Calling softly through my days You don't have
- 26:53Speaker 4: to look my way.
- 26:56Speaker 5: You don't have to be my home It's enough to
- 27:00Speaker 5: know you're living In a world I'm not alone
