- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the Sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks. DJ and
- 0:09Speaker 1: Rhett with you today. Buck is traveling so he is out.
- 0:13Speaker 1: But Rhet, how are you doing? Man?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Well, I'm good and I'm laughing a little bit because
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm thinking I was, you know, buying the curtain a
- 0:20Speaker 2: little bit for our friends here, you know, when we're
- 0:23Speaker 2: trying to figure.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Out, you know, who's talking about what and which games.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I just knew.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I knew on that text thread that DJ was gonna
- 0:31Speaker 2: come in hot with that Jets Texans zame because you,
- 0:36Speaker 2: my friend. Every time I think I'm done, they pull
- 0:41Speaker 2: me back.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And you are. You can't get up, Wilson, I don't.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I don't know if you I don't know if you
- 0:46Speaker 1: saw this. First of all, I haven't watched the Jets
- 0:47Speaker 1: playing over a month. It's been so pitiful. But the
- 0:52Speaker 1: I was on the Insiders show, so I was on
- 0:56Speaker 1: with Tom Pea of the day. We were talking about
- 0:58Speaker 1: some backup quarterbacks and I said on that show, I
- 1:01Speaker 1: think I posted it, but I said, look, if I'm
- 1:04Speaker 1: the Jets, I would put a BYU helmet in Zach's
- 1:08Speaker 1: locker this week and tell him, look, we have we
- 1:12Speaker 1: have tried to tell you, don't make mistakes. We've tried
- 1:15Speaker 1: to put handcuffs on you. We've got a great defense.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Don't screw it up, Zach. Doesn't work. Okay, we can't
- 1:20Speaker 1: win games when we score six points. So go back
- 1:23Speaker 1: to Byu, Zack. You turn it over, bad things happen,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Let it roll off your shoulders, just let it rip.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Go out there and play. And I was like, watching
- 1:32Speaker 1: the game, I'll back and watch it, we'll go through it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: We'll get to it a little bit. Obviously it's not
- 1:35Speaker 1: a highlight game, but the uh, there's exactly what happened.
- 1:38Speaker 1: He went out there and played, and there's a couple
- 1:40Speaker 1: of them where you kind of cringe, like, oh gosh,
- 1:42Speaker 1: what is he doing? But then like that's kind of
- 1:44Speaker 1: who he is. Just let him be who he is.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Stop trying to make him something he's not.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, there was a definitely a couple of
- 1:50Speaker 2: throws on there that I saw from BYU, from the
- 1:53Speaker 2: from the XO tape that you ran up the draft
- 1:55Speaker 2: when the Jets took him to Overall, there's there's some
- 1:59Speaker 2: of that in there. So yeah, I'll be curious to
- 2:01Speaker 2: get your take on that when we get down there
- 2:03Speaker 2: to it.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But yeah, you du oh my gosh, wow, I have
- 2:09Speaker 1: I have no words with what the Chargers offense looks like.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I mean, it's a total con twist. The defense had
- 2:16Speaker 1: been so bad and now all of a sudden, the
- 2:18Speaker 1: defense for the last month or so, he was playing
- 2:20Speaker 1: really well, done a nice job offensively. They can't score
- 2:23Speaker 1: and no touchdowns last week against the Patriots, they got
- 2:25Speaker 1: a late score in this one, only put up seven
- 2:27Speaker 1: points against the Broncos, so they have kind of fallen apart.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Herbert breaks his finger. Looks like he's going to be
- 2:32Speaker 1: out Thursday. Who knows if he'll play again the rest
- 2:34Speaker 1: of the year. By all intensive purposes, they're in deep trouble.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I mean, they're have a very hard time coming back
- 2:39Speaker 1: from this. I think they're probably done in terms of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the playoffs. But I did want to swing it over
- 2:45Speaker 1: because what I'm calling the Charger games. For those who
- 2:47Speaker 1: don't know, I call the Charger games every week, so
- 2:49Speaker 1: we always touch on that game just because I'm there.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Buck always touched on the Jags game because he's calling
- 2:52Speaker 1: their games. So you're there. We're there, we might as
- 2:54Speaker 1: well tell people what we saw, and a lot of
- 2:57Speaker 1: times we can take kind of the slant from the
- 2:59Speaker 1: team that we're working for doing those games. I wanted
- 3:02Speaker 1: to spend my time here and give some flowers to
- 3:05Speaker 1: the Denver Broncos and particularly Advance Joseph. I went back
- 3:09Speaker 1: and looked at up. Let's look at these last games.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Here at the last seven games, Green Bay, they gave
- 3:14Speaker 1: up seventeen points KC nine, Buffalo twenty two, Minnesota twenty,
- 3:18Speaker 1: Cleveland twelve. Those are all wins. By the way, Houston
- 3:21Speaker 1: twenty two was the one loss, and they give up
- 3:23Speaker 1: seven in this game. So over the last seven games
- 3:25Speaker 1: they're averaging fifteen point five points allowed. The Niners lead
- 3:29Speaker 1: the NFL on the season, allowing fifteen point eight points
- 3:32Speaker 1: per game. Now, obviously because the seventy point game against
- 3:35Speaker 1: Miami and how bad they were early in the year,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you know their numbers are going to be middle of
- 3:40Speaker 1: the pack and not very impressive on the season. But
- 3:42Speaker 1: over the last seven weeks they're playing as well as
- 3:45Speaker 1: anybody defensively, and they're aggressive, and you know, the Chargers
- 3:49Speaker 1: could not pick up a blitz to save their life.
- 3:51Speaker 1: They hit them with so many different blitzes and got
- 3:53Speaker 1: free runners. But they are playing aggressive, they're creative and advanced.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Joseph has those guys playing good. All that's awesome, you know.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I think they're a game out of first place, by
- 4:03Speaker 1: the way.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Uh yeah, because if the Chiefs keep stumbling and we'll
- 4:06Speaker 2: get to that game crazy hear it a little bit
- 4:08Speaker 2: as well, Like, yeah, there's there's definitely some room there
- 4:11Speaker 2: for the Broncos to make some moves. And it's a
- 4:13Speaker 2: team that we kind of left for dead right when
- 4:15Speaker 2: they were what one in five and then went on
- 4:17Speaker 2: the five game and then lost to Tech the Texans
- 4:20Speaker 2: and then bounce back. So yeah, there's there's a lot
- 4:23Speaker 2: to like there. I think Joontay Williams is playing some
- 4:26Speaker 2: good football too.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Right with the way that there can happen right now?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Is your wife happy with the Broncos.
- 4:31Speaker 2: She is a Broncos fan, yep. Spent her her whole
- 4:33Speaker 2: life in and around Denver and Colorado, and she's pretty
- 4:38Speaker 2: swamped on in the work world on her side of
- 4:41Speaker 2: there's a lot of things going on in the in
- 4:42Speaker 2: the world on the news front these days, and so
- 4:46Speaker 2: so she's she I think unfortunately has been less of
- 4:48Speaker 2: a football fan than she would like. But yeah, definitely
- 4:51Speaker 2: got a little kick out of that one yesterday.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So they're playing good ball. I don't think we need
- 4:55Speaker 1: to spend any more time on that one. But now again,
- 4:57Speaker 1: the Broncos very much in the playoff and in the
- 5:00Speaker 1: division mix. As crazy as that sounds, But how about
- 5:03Speaker 1: the next one? Here? Buck was gonna hit this one
- 5:05Speaker 1: but raah, but I know you jumped in and did. Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I jumped in on the Rounds and we had.
- 5:09Speaker 2: This one on our shift of Game Day Live. Mark
- 5:12Speaker 2: Ross and I were kind of looking at this and
- 5:14Speaker 2: the Browns had built a lead, Jags kind of came back.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Brown's built it again. And look, I think, first off,
- 5:19Speaker 2: let's credit Trevor Lawrence, right. I mean, after watching that
- 5:23Speaker 2: injury on Monday that I was like, yeah, no way,
- 5:26Speaker 2: no way, he plays, no way, he might be out
- 5:28Speaker 2: for the year. You know, like you're going through all
- 5:30Speaker 2: those machinations in your mind watching you know, an impact
- 5:33Speaker 2: player like that go down and not return, and then
- 5:35Speaker 2: you know he comes out here tough, tough dude. Plus
- 5:38Speaker 2: his offensive line is extremely depleted at the tackle position.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I mean, like we know they're down Cam Robinson Walker
- 5:44Speaker 2: Little was out to start this game, so they moved
- 5:46Speaker 2: Ezra Cleveland over to left tackle.
- 5:48Speaker 1: He gets hurt in the first.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Half, and so Blake Hants comes in as they're essentially
- 5:54Speaker 2: fourth string left tackle. Look, he didn't have a great day,
- 5:58Speaker 2: but I don't know if that's putting him in a
- 5:59Speaker 2: great position either with the you know, the way that
- 6:01Speaker 2: the Browns can get after the passer. He played thirty
- 6:04Speaker 2: nine snaps, gave up four hits and eight pressures. Team
- 6:06Speaker 2: as a whole gave up twenty seven pressures on Trevor Lawrence, which.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Is that's not the team. Yeah, not the team you
- 6:12Speaker 1: want to be playing when you're not whole up front.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And when you're a little banged up, you know, in
- 6:17Speaker 2: the mobility department. From the quarterback spot. Now, he threw
- 6:19Speaker 2: three picks. First one, he'll advise deep shot. Second one,
- 6:24Speaker 2: he got pressure and it was a miscommunication with Zay Jones.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Third one free rusher. He takes the shot down the sideline,
- 6:30Speaker 2: just overthrows. It was played well by Greg Newsom. But
- 6:32Speaker 2: I think what's most important here in this game is
- 6:34Speaker 2: Joe Flacco.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Man.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Joe Flacco fits in this offense, and he is he
- 6:41Speaker 2: has given them. I think I would say, and it
- 6:44Speaker 2: probably isn't that much of a stretch to say there
- 6:45Speaker 2: are two best games of quarterback play the season. Here
- 6:48Speaker 2: we're saying he comes off the couch right, he's decisive,
- 6:53Speaker 2: he knows where he wants to go with the football.
- 6:54Speaker 2: He is unflustered in the pocket. He was also protected
- 6:58Speaker 2: pretty well. Give him that two arm is still terrific.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Like he's thirty eight years old. The arm is still there.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Like he goes he has a left hash shot. He
- 7:07Speaker 2: lets it rip from the minus twelve left hash. It
- 7:10Speaker 2: hits the sideline at the thirty two on the far
- 7:13Speaker 2: right side, and it's on the money, on time, perfect throw,
- 7:17Speaker 2: first down, Like that's big time. That's a big time
- 7:20Speaker 2: throw right there. He even showed some evasiveness in the pocket.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Rusher gets his hands on him, he escapes, scrambling out
- 7:27Speaker 2: to the right, makes a pretty throw on the run.
- 7:29Speaker 2: He just seems really comfortable, calm in the pocket. He's
- 7:32Speaker 2: got great touch, still layer and balls over the second level.
- 7:35Speaker 2: There is a lot to like. And I think the
- 7:36Speaker 2: Browns are right back in the thick of things. If
- 7:39Speaker 2: they were floundering a little bit as a playoff contender,
- 7:41Speaker 2: but that's a playoff looking team right there with Flacco
- 7:43Speaker 2: at quarterback.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Teach. Yeah, and I think you probably take some heart
- 7:47Speaker 1: by watching that if you're a Jets fan and say, hey,
- 7:49Speaker 1: look at Flacco at that age. Maybe Aaron Rodgers coming
- 7:51Speaker 1: off this injury next year still got a little magic
- 7:53Speaker 1: left in him. Nice to see the older guys with
- 7:56Speaker 1: the experience, and they got the whole thing with older quarterbacks.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And this is another Jet point, by the way, not
- 8:00Speaker 1: to get off on a tangent, but you've been just
- 8:02Speaker 1: invest in the offensive line. If you're gonna have an
- 8:04Speaker 1: old quarterback, you've got to protect them. The weapons aren't
- 8:06Speaker 1: as important as a protection the older you get at
- 8:08Speaker 1: the quarterback precition. But anyways, great to see Joe Flacco
- 8:11Speaker 1: get loose again. As you said right off the couch.
- 8:14Speaker 1: How about Flacco's old team, the Ravens, in one of
- 8:16Speaker 1: the games, probably the best games of the entire weekend,
- 8:19Speaker 1: came dout to the end and overtime they beat the
- 8:21Speaker 1: Rams thirty seven to thirty one.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I kept going back in because again, this is another
- 8:25Speaker 2: game in the early window that we had on Game
- 8:27Speaker 2: Day Live which, by the way, every Sunday on NFL Network.
- 8:32Speaker 1: By the way, I did see the ratings the other day.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Up every year, year over year. It just keeps climbing. Hey,
- 8:36Speaker 1: bang bang, Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Six hundred thousand people checking this out each and every week.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It's awesome to see. So we're watching this game and
- 8:43Speaker 2: it's it's back and forth. I mean, like every time
- 8:46Speaker 2: I'm giving score alert its bang a Rams and Ravens
- 8:49Speaker 2: scored again. A couple of just a just an overarching
- 8:53Speaker 2: kind of theme in this The Rams are a playoff
- 8:55Speaker 2: caliber team. Yeah, the Rams are a playoff caliber team
- 8:58Speaker 2: to go all the way to Baltimore or on the
- 9:00Speaker 2: road in the rain and give that team, who is
- 9:04Speaker 2: one of the two three best teams in the AFC
- 9:06Speaker 2: right now, an absolute run for their money, especially on offense.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I mean, like you look at the ran the ball
- 9:13Speaker 2: really well too. They then that's what they've been doing
- 9:16Speaker 2: this year. When Kyron Williams is healthy, man, that team
- 9:18Speaker 2: has been rolling on the ground. And then you throw
- 9:20Speaker 2: in obviously Cooper Cup and Puka Akua.
- 9:23Speaker 1: They get Tyler Higbee.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Back, who was out in this game, although they did
- 9:25Speaker 2: get you know, a couple of good you know this
- 9:28Speaker 2: is good snaps from Davis. Allen, the young tight end
- 9:30Speaker 2: from Clemson, caught his first career touchdown in this game.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I think I would let him down here with some
- 9:37Speaker 2: major coverage busts on defense because they were in they
- 9:40Speaker 2: play and this is a really tight game, like even
- 9:43Speaker 2: across the board. Credits to the Rams offense. They scored
- 9:46Speaker 2: on all five of their red zone possessions, albeit three
- 9:48Speaker 2: touchdowns and two field goals, But on defense they let
- 9:51Speaker 2: up some explosive plays that just you can't have it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: And I don't know if they were I was texting
- 9:56Speaker 2: you back and forth. I was trying to figure out
- 9:58Speaker 2: what some of these coverages were on some of the
- 10:00Speaker 2: the Odell Beckham slugo just got Jordan Fuller. He bit
- 10:04Speaker 2: up hard on it and Odell's wide open Lamar underthrows him,
- 10:08Speaker 2: but he still gets into the end zone. They had
- 10:10Speaker 2: an Isaiah Likely play early in the first half where
- 10:13Speaker 2: he comes in motion and no one accounts for he
- 10:16Speaker 2: comes in motion, ends up being the third the outside
- 10:20Speaker 2: receiver in a three by one set and there's just
- 10:22Speaker 2: nobody there, so clear miscommunication there. Jordan Fuller misses the angle.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He had a tough game in this one, and then
- 10:29Speaker 2: on the last one. The last big, you know, kind
- 10:33Speaker 2: of misque on defense is a third and seventeen with
- 10:36Speaker 2: the game on the line, and they go down there
- 10:40Speaker 2: and allow Jay Flowers to cross Fuller's face going from
- 10:45Speaker 2: right to left and he catches the touchdown that gives
- 10:47Speaker 2: the Ravens the lead. Ultimately, the Rams work down there
- 10:50Speaker 2: and tie it up and go to overtime. But man,
- 10:54Speaker 2: just you take a couple of those plays away, and
- 10:56Speaker 2: I know it's hard to say that, but again when
- 10:58Speaker 2: they're miscommunications, and sometimes it seems like unforced errors, Yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's that's hard when you're that close to beating that
- 11:06Speaker 2: good of a team.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Look, give the Ravens credit. They've found ways to
- 11:10Speaker 1: win different types of games. Yes, they found themselves in
- 11:12Speaker 1: low scoring games, high scoring games. The offense with Lamar
- 11:17Speaker 1: Jackson really arn Legs doing everything in this game was
- 11:20Speaker 1: big for them. They needed all of it. They needed
- 11:22Speaker 1: all that offense. And this one, I will say defensively
- 11:24Speaker 1: for the Ravens, you know, they're they're a challenge with
- 11:27Speaker 1: what they do up front and the looks that they present.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I do think that the you know, the type of
- 11:33Speaker 1: teams are going to be able to do well against
- 11:35Speaker 1: them on that side of the ball, veteran quarterback, veteran coach,
- 11:38Speaker 1: because you have to have answers baked in for all
- 11:41Speaker 1: the different sim slashers you're gonna fire. And Stafford was
- 11:44Speaker 1: in the groove with his play caller and Sean McVay,
- 11:47Speaker 1: so they were seeing things the same. It's gonna be
- 11:50Speaker 1: a nightmare defense for young quarterbacks to deal with. But
- 11:52Speaker 1: I think that was a little bit of a blueprint
- 11:54Speaker 1: if you've got somebody who's been around the block a
- 11:56Speaker 1: few times, understands what looks he's been presented, and knows
- 11:59Speaker 1: where to attack the week's I thought that was kind
- 12:01Speaker 1: of the key to them there.
- 12:02Speaker 2: And then obviously, you know Tyland Wallace the punt return Yeah, walkoff.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I mean that's huge, and he's not the regular punt
- 12:08Speaker 2: returner Devin du verne is. He goes out, Tyland Wallace
- 12:11Speaker 2: has to step in. I mean, it's kind of a
- 12:12Speaker 2: cool story. He was a senior bowler right from open
- 12:15Speaker 2: to Oklahoma State. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, doesn't get
- 12:18Speaker 2: a lot of reps on the offensive side of the ball,
- 12:20Speaker 2: but steps in a big spot and obviously gets that
- 12:22Speaker 2: done after the three and out, so on the Rams
- 12:26Speaker 2: first offensive possession in overtime.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But the Rams are here to stay. Yeah, they're playing
- 12:31Speaker 1: good ball. We're gonna take quick break. We come back.
- 12:33Speaker 1: This is not a rerun. But we will get into
- 12:36Speaker 1: a game where the Eagles were pounded. We'll get into
- 12:39Speaker 1: that right after this. All right, right, this was billed
- 12:46Speaker 1: as the game of the day Sunday Night Football, Eagles Cowboys.
- 12:50Speaker 1: The Eagles have problems, and we'll get to those problems
- 12:53Speaker 1: in just a minute. They've been exposed really by the
- 12:56Speaker 1: other two I would say, clearly two teams that are
- 12:58Speaker 1: better than them right now. I don't know anyway other
- 13:00Speaker 1: way to say it, after watching what the Niners did
- 13:02Speaker 1: to them and then watching what the Cowboys did to
- 13:03Speaker 1: them in this one. But let's start with the Cowboys
- 13:05Speaker 1: on their side of things. Dak an efficient day two
- 13:09Speaker 1: under seventy seventy one yards, two touchdowns. They ran the
- 13:12Speaker 1: ball well, kind of did what they wanted. When I
- 13:14Speaker 1: looked at explosives in this game, which was interesting to
- 13:17Speaker 1: watch from the Cowboys standpoint, they found some. They found
- 13:21Speaker 1: some Waldo's on the other side they wanted to go
- 13:22Speaker 1: after and it was a lot of the young guys
- 13:26Speaker 1: or newer players there. Roby got torched in this game.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Eli Rix, who's been out there. He struggled. Kee Ringo,
- 13:34Speaker 1: a young guy to Georgia, he struggled. I mean it
- 13:37Speaker 1: was no, it was equal opportunity. But Zach was seeing
- 13:40Speaker 1: the field very well and just was was even though
- 13:44Speaker 1: they did hit him a little bit, heed him up
- 13:46Speaker 1: a little bit. They had matchups down the field that
- 13:49Speaker 1: they found very favorable, coming off of a game against
- 13:52Speaker 1: the Niners where they picked on this secondary a little bit.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I think it's a combination of maybe they're not as
- 13:57Speaker 1: talented in the back end in Philadelphia, but they're not
- 14:00Speaker 1: connected either. That's a kind of a buzz phrase you
- 14:02Speaker 1: hear when you talk to defensive coaches. Got to be
- 14:04Speaker 1: connected on the back end. They were not connected at all.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And there were some guys running free.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know there are some young players. You
- 14:13Speaker 2: mentioned that Sidney Brown out there too, and I know
- 14:15Speaker 2: reblanken Ship left the game early and he's you know,
- 14:18Speaker 2: he's a guy that you know that's a big piece
- 14:20Speaker 2: of their secondary rotation there. And did you see anything
- 14:24Speaker 2: from Kevin Byerd in that one? You think, like you know, veteran.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Didn't have as much blood on his hands when I
- 14:29Speaker 1: went through and looked at all the big plays and
- 14:30Speaker 1: but but it was interesting. I was having to use
- 14:32Speaker 1: our lads to go through and like, who the heck
- 14:34Speaker 1: is this Eli Ricks? You know what I mean? Like
- 14:37Speaker 1: it was those those types of things, But there there
- 14:40Speaker 1: were other plays were like he's hitting you'll hit a
- 14:43Speaker 1: seam ball and there's another wide receiver on the on
- 14:46Speaker 1: the top of the on the top of the screen,
- 14:48Speaker 1: who's just naked wide open. It's like, dude, they're running
- 14:50Speaker 1: free all over the lease. And this is the Eagles team.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think they had the number one pass defense in
- 14:54Speaker 1: the NFL last year, so you know, look drop off.
- 15:00Speaker 1: They hit him a little bit. Redick had two sacks,
- 15:03Speaker 1: but they you know, he's getting the ball out again.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I talk about being connected, it means when you're getting
- 15:07Speaker 1: home and then you're not tight in coverage, like there's
- 15:10Speaker 1: no you don't have time, you don't have time to
- 15:12Speaker 1: get there. There's too many there's too many openings. So
- 15:15Speaker 1: they've got major issues. And I think when you look
- 15:18Speaker 1: around the NFC, there's quarterbacks to take advantage of it.
- 15:21Speaker 1: If you're not good in the back end, they can
- 15:23Speaker 1: take advantage of it. And Dallas from what they are defensively,
- 15:26Speaker 1: they were dominant in this game. They ran it, they
- 15:28Speaker 1: could throw it when they needed to. It's a pretty
- 15:30Speaker 1: complete football team, man, one of the best Cowboy teams
- 15:33Speaker 1: we've seen in a long time.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, I think there were times this
- 15:37Speaker 2: year when the Cowboys had one of those games, you know,
- 15:40Speaker 2: where they kind of had, you know, one of those
- 15:42Speaker 2: letdowns and you didn't see that ground game, right, you
- 15:45Speaker 2: didn't see and they had a nice combo with Tony
- 15:47Speaker 2: Pollard and Rico Dowdle in their rushing for over one
- 15:50Speaker 2: hundred yards. And again, I just think that takes some
- 15:52Speaker 2: of that burden off of Dak Prescott, even though he's played,
- 15:56Speaker 2: you know, exceptionally well since that forty nine Ers loss
- 15:59Speaker 2: a couple weeks ago. But now we're talking about back
- 16:01Speaker 2: to back blowouts or from the Eagles. I mean, they
- 16:05Speaker 2: did score an offensive touchdown for the first time in
- 16:07Speaker 2: six years. Yeah, so what do we make of where
- 16:11Speaker 2: they are offensively right now?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Now?
- 16:13Speaker 2: You want to talk about not running the football, they
- 16:14Speaker 2: mean they haven't they haven't been able to do it
- 16:17Speaker 2: very effective.
- 16:17Speaker 1: No, I mean, look that the uh, the Niners is
- 16:21Speaker 1: as good at defense as there is in the league.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys are either. So there's there's part of that.
- 16:26Speaker 1: But if you're gonna get to through the tournament, those
- 16:28Speaker 1: are the teams you got to get through. So uh,
- 16:31Speaker 1: you know, look, I would say, man, if they get
- 16:34Speaker 1: healthy and uh and their full speed ahead in the postseason,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I think they can play with those teams. But man,
- 16:39Speaker 1: they've got to uh, they've got to clean up some
- 16:42Speaker 1: stuff on the back end and then offensively. I don't
- 16:44Speaker 1: know if it's just getting jailing healthier or or what
- 16:46Speaker 1: it is there, but yeah, you know, the one thing
- 16:48Speaker 1: with the Cowboys, they did not get caught up the
- 16:49Speaker 1: field against him. That's kind of like you talk about
- 16:52Speaker 1: a little bit of the blueprint there. Don't give him lanes,
- 16:55Speaker 1: don't get caught up the field, let him climb up
- 16:56Speaker 1: and run and see they kind of just put a
- 16:59Speaker 1: wall in front of him and took that away, and
- 17:01Speaker 1: he's you know, he's just not comfortable. He's not comfortable
- 17:04Speaker 1: right now. And it isn't because he's getting upfield pressure.
- 17:06Speaker 1: He's just not seen it. Well.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Cowboys have been really good at home They've now won
- 17:10Speaker 2: their fifteenth straight game at home, dating back to the
- 17:12Speaker 2: twenty twenty two seasons. So you think about the way
- 17:14Speaker 2: that they're surging right now, and you think about playoffs
- 17:17Speaker 2: and them trying to.
- 17:18Speaker 1: The only problem is they have one team that's their kryptonite.
- 17:21Speaker 1: That's that's right, that's right, and that's the team they're
- 17:24Speaker 1: probably going to have to go on the road. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: would think I haven't looked at the at the time
- 17:27Speaker 1: they beat him head to head this year, to beat
- 17:28Speaker 1: the snot out of them, So I would think San
- 17:30Speaker 1: Francisco would hold the hold the tiebreaker there, see what
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But even just to get then NFC Championship game would
- 17:35Speaker 2: be a bit.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It would be big. They're looking like they're heading that
- 17:38Speaker 1: way right now, so as it stands, yeah, I think
- 17:41Speaker 1: that would go through San Francisco. So let's get to
- 17:45Speaker 1: this next game, because this was you know, we talked
- 17:47Speaker 1: about the Cowboys Eagles being billed as the game of
- 17:49Speaker 1: the day, this one because of all the news surrounding
- 17:53Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills and then the the Kansas City Chiefs
- 17:57Speaker 1: not looking right. This was an sreaking matchup, and then
- 18:01Speaker 1: it had a little drama at the end, which we'll
- 18:03Speaker 1: get to, but just overall impression of this game that
- 18:06Speaker 1: was won by the Buffalo Bills twenty seventeen, and I
- 18:08Speaker 1: would say it was a it was a must win
- 18:10Speaker 1: game for Buffalo and they got it. Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Where they were you know, where they were sitting and
- 18:16Speaker 2: some of the games that they have lost that you'd
- 18:19Speaker 2: expect them to be, you know, much further along than
- 18:22Speaker 2: where they were. I mean, they're still sitting in the
- 18:24Speaker 2: in the eleven hole right now in the AFC, so
- 18:27Speaker 2: they still got work to do, which seems strange for
- 18:30Speaker 2: this team at this point. But you could not go
- 18:33Speaker 2: under five hundred right now, and especially as you were saying,
- 18:35Speaker 2: because you're going to start to get things piling on,
- 18:37Speaker 2: right with all the off the field stuff that they
- 18:39Speaker 2: were dealing with with Sean McDermott this this last week.
- 18:42Speaker 1: So that was a big one.
- 18:44Speaker 2: And I think the early the way that they kind
- 18:46Speaker 2: of got after it early on really kind of helped
- 18:49Speaker 2: set the table for what they wanted to do in
- 18:52Speaker 2: this game. Thought Josh Allen played well early. He had
- 18:54Speaker 2: one of those plays where he was trying to do
- 18:56Speaker 2: a little too much and you'll see that. Obviously, you
- 18:58Speaker 2: just kind of take some of those, right, But they
- 19:00Speaker 2: jump out to the fourteen to nothing lead, and that
- 19:03Speaker 2: basically booied them the whole way because obviously the Chiefs
- 19:06Speaker 2: came back, you know, and kind of made this thing
- 19:09Speaker 2: a little bit closer seventeen fourteen after the Rashi Rice
- 19:11Speaker 2: touchdown catch, but the Chiefs just, I don't know, it's
- 19:18Speaker 2: good to see where she Rice continuing to ascend. Yeah,
- 19:21Speaker 2: he is a good player and and maybe that'll remove
- 19:25Speaker 2: some of the other issues that they're having with drop
- 19:28Speaker 2: and they still had drops in this game.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, and that's just tough to see.
- 19:32Speaker 2: And obviously I think not having Isaiah Pacheco really kind
- 19:35Speaker 2: of hurt him a little bit too. Couldn't really run
- 19:37Speaker 2: the ball with any sort of consistency or effectiveness.
- 19:41Speaker 1: But I think, you know, we kind.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Of get fooled by the Bills record a little bit.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Is a talented football team, Yeah right, there's a lot
- 19:47Speaker 2: of talent there, and so they were much better in
- 19:48Speaker 2: a six and six football team coming in and they
- 19:51Speaker 2: played like it. So look, I think that's about what
- 19:54Speaker 2: we expected when these two teams get together. And obviously
- 19:56Speaker 2: we got to go and talk about what happened at
- 19:58Speaker 2: the end with Mahomes and Tony and Travis Kelcey on
- 20:01Speaker 2: that play, and obviously they're up in arms about it.
- 20:03Speaker 2: What's your what's your take on all that?
- 20:05Speaker 1: Well, I'll give you a quick take on that. I'll
- 20:07Speaker 1: circle back and then we'll we'll uh, we'll go back
- 20:10Speaker 1: to that topic. But he's I watched the tape this morning.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It was it was it was offside, and it's not
- 20:16Speaker 1: like the It's not like the official knew what was
- 20:18Speaker 1: going to happen, that it was gonna be one of
- 20:20Speaker 1: the wildest, craziest players of the year. Before it's the snap,
- 20:25Speaker 1: but the guy's a full yard off sides, like, what
- 20:27Speaker 1: are you doing? Yeah, throw the flag and then the
- 20:30Speaker 1: play happens. It's not like the play happens and he
- 20:32Speaker 1: goes up, I'm gonna throw that flag at Tiki tac
- 20:34Speaker 1: call and pull that back. He didn't know what was
- 20:36Speaker 1: gonna happen. He's just doing his job. So anyways, I
- 20:39Speaker 1: thought somebody had an interesting point after the game, which
- 20:42Speaker 1: was I don't even saw it. Somebody on on on
- 20:45Speaker 1: Twitter had said it that U, I don't mind that
- 20:48Speaker 1: Mahomes was pissed on the sideline. I don't mind what
- 20:50Speaker 1: he said in the in the post game, but like
- 20:52Speaker 1: shaking Josh Allen's hand after the game, like how about
- 20:54Speaker 1: just how about just hey, good game, Josh, Josh, Like
- 20:57Speaker 1: he told Josh, this is the worst call I've ever
- 20:59Speaker 1: seen with What does Josh say to that, Like, Hey, okay,
- 21:03Speaker 1: tough guys, you guys didn't have something go your way?
- 21:05Speaker 1: What's that feel like? I can't imagine. I don't have
- 21:09Speaker 1: words for that. But anyways, No, I went back and
- 21:12Speaker 1: watched the tape this morning, and a couple of things.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Number One, you know, Mahomes I thought, at times is
- 21:20Speaker 1: a little too aggressive, which is always a fine line
- 21:22Speaker 1: because he's so special. But I thought there were times
- 21:25Speaker 1: where he had things underneath an intermediate that were there
- 21:28Speaker 1: and he was either holding the ball took a sack,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you know, holding the ball forcing it down the field,
- 21:33Speaker 1: versus taking what was there. I thought as the game progressed,
- 21:35Speaker 1: he started seeing it a little better and taking what
- 21:37Speaker 1: was there a little more consistently. Rice was definitely a
- 21:42Speaker 1: highlight for me going back and watching them, like, Okay,
- 21:44Speaker 1: they have something there, but they don't have they need
- 21:47Speaker 1: they need more guys just to give him more run
- 21:50Speaker 1: after catch because the Bills, this is the team that
- 21:52Speaker 1: did this the first time cut you know, three or
- 21:54Speaker 1: four years ago, when the Bills played safeties deep and
- 21:56Speaker 1: kind of really put the shell over this offense. That
- 21:59Speaker 1: was the first example that Now in that game, which
- 22:01Speaker 1: was a Thursday night game in Buffalo, the Chiefs and
- 22:03Speaker 1: ran it down their throats and were content to do that.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But they're gonna have to get more and more run
- 22:07Speaker 1: after catch receivers because teams are just going to try
- 22:10Speaker 1: and put a lid on them. So that's something they're
- 22:12Speaker 1: gonna have to do in the offseason. But I didn't
- 22:14Speaker 1: you know, Molda miss throws too. I mean like he
- 22:16Speaker 1: had some opportunities and missed, which I'm not used to
- 22:19Speaker 1: seeing at all. So I didn't think he played a
- 22:21Speaker 1: super clean game. I didn't think he played his best And.
- 22:23Speaker 2: They're still struggling pressure wise.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and he moved they I thought they did a
- 22:27Speaker 1: good job early on, they moved the pocket around a
- 22:29Speaker 1: little bit. But there were three or four times where
- 22:32Speaker 1: you know, batted balls at the line of scrimmage, just
- 22:35Speaker 1: stuff you're not used to seeing, just kind of sloppy
- 22:38Speaker 1: uh offense for them, but uh, you know, I give
- 22:41Speaker 1: Buffalo credit on their side of things. They made them
- 22:43Speaker 1: uncomfortable and you you know, as a lot of teams
- 22:46Speaker 1: have done held them under twenty points and they just
- 22:49Speaker 1: don't you know, Hey, this is a this is a
- 22:51Speaker 1: thing where I left this game saying, there's a lot
- 22:53Speaker 1: of different takeaways. But if if the Bills sneak in,
- 22:58Speaker 1: you don't want to play them, You don't want to
- 23:00Speaker 1: see those guys as a road team, and you win
- 23:01Speaker 1: the AFC South and you got to have Josh Allen
- 23:05Speaker 1: Company coming to your place first round. I'm not loving that, right.
- 23:08Speaker 1: And the other thing is, even if Kansas City, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: isn't right, they they still have a chance in time
- 23:15Speaker 1: to figure this out. They're more than likely going to
- 23:17Speaker 1: still win the division. They're gonna get a home game
- 23:19Speaker 1: and get a chance to get going a little bit.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But they're gonna have to pack the road jerseys. They're
- 23:23Speaker 1: gonna end up playing on the road at some point
- 23:24Speaker 1: time in this postseason. I'm just not gonna throw dirt
- 23:27Speaker 1: on them by any stretch. But they are still searching.
- 23:30Speaker 1: They have not found it yet.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Guys kind of strange, isn't. Yeah, the Broncos are a
- 23:35Speaker 2: game back, That's what I'm saying, placed in the West,
- 23:38Speaker 2: you know, like in what we've got this is week fourteen,
- 23:41Speaker 2: we got fifty sixties, seventy eighty, We got four games left.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I mean, technically the Chargers and the Raiders are not
- 23:47Speaker 2: at a thing either.
- 23:47Speaker 1: And I don't imagine that.
- 23:48Speaker 2: The Chiefs are gonna lose three or four down the
- 23:51Speaker 2: stretch here. But but yeah, man, that's it's weird how
- 23:54Speaker 2: that division has kind of disintegrated outside of the Broncos
- 23:59Speaker 2: who have been on.
- 24:00Speaker 1: A little bit. Yeah, no question. We don only spend
- 24:03Speaker 1: too much time here on this next one, Rett, but
- 24:06Speaker 1: it was an entertaining game just in terms of the
- 24:08Speaker 1: back and forth with the Bucks beating the Falcons twenty
- 24:10Speaker 1: nine to twenty five.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I think there's just two plays that really stick out
- 24:14Speaker 2: to me in this game, Bucks and Falcons.
- 24:16Speaker 1: They threw it a bunch again, how about Drake London
- 24:19Speaker 1: good lord, Well.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Great to see like one of the guys with immense
- 24:23Speaker 2: talent like yeah, utilized in this offense. We've saw Kyle
- 24:26Speaker 2: Pitts get into the end zone for the fifth time
- 24:28Speaker 2: in his career, Bjon Robinson, you only had ten carries,
- 24:31Speaker 2: but was a factor in the past game, you know,
- 24:33Speaker 2: And I think that happens sometimes. I know we're all
- 24:35Speaker 2: kind of waiting, like, all right, what is Bijon just
- 24:38Speaker 2: going to start to get twenty carries a game here
- 24:39Speaker 2: at some point? Well, in fact, is Tyler Isle's year
- 24:41Speaker 2: is a pretty good player too, and so they can
- 24:44Speaker 2: spread those carries around as long as Bijeon is getting
- 24:46Speaker 2: those fifteen or so touches. When you factor in the
- 24:49Speaker 2: past game, it's good. But here's here's are the two plays.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Desnt Ritter throw an interception in this game, backed up
- 24:55Speaker 2: inside his own ten yard line. But the mechanics of
- 24:58Speaker 2: the play, I thought, we're kind of interesting, and I'll
- 25:01Speaker 2: send you some homework to go back and watch this one. Yea,
- 25:04Speaker 2: it is a He's essentially he's in the shotgun. He's
- 25:08Speaker 2: got the running back out to his left. He's throwing
- 25:11Speaker 2: He's going to throw a quick screen out to his right,
- 25:14Speaker 2: but he does a reverse move where his eyes go
- 25:17Speaker 2: away from the right side of the field. He's spinning
- 25:20Speaker 2: like three sixty spins left and then throwing back right,
- 25:25Speaker 2: so he loses vision right of what's happening on the
- 25:28Speaker 2: right side. Meanwhile, Carlton Davis sees this thing happening from
- 25:31Speaker 2: a mile away. Great, I assume, great film study, great
- 25:34Speaker 2: read recognition, react, and he picks the ball off right.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Carlton Davis picks the quick screen off and Ritter never
- 25:41Speaker 2: even saw him. But I don't know if that's as
- 25:44Speaker 2: much on him or as much on you know, what
- 25:47Speaker 2: they're asking him to do with the mechanics of that play.
- 25:51Speaker 2: And so they end up scoring a touchdown there, and
- 25:53Speaker 2: then you know, this next one is a safety. They're
- 25:56Speaker 2: in max protect down inside the five yard line. They
- 26:00Speaker 2: got a two man route combination and both of them
- 26:02Speaker 2: are running. We got the far guy on the left
- 26:05Speaker 2: side running a deep post, okay, and then the guy
- 26:08Speaker 2: in the right, Drake London's running a double move. So
- 26:10Speaker 2: Ritter is waiting. He hitches three times with his feet
- 26:14Speaker 2: planet in the end zone, but again their max protect
- 26:18Speaker 2: and in the antoine Winfield comes on. A Blitze beats
- 26:20Speaker 2: the doors off the full back and but Rider's holding
- 26:24Speaker 2: the ball three point seven seconds before he gets hit.
- 26:27Speaker 2: And you just can't do that in the end zone.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I don't care how many guys you got protected. Rank kidding,
- 26:32Speaker 2: So those two plays come come back and haunt the Falcons.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I think in that game that ends up being really close.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at six and seven division leaders, how
- 26:41Speaker 1: about three way times six and seven? Yeah, life is good,
- 26:45Speaker 1: life is yeah, all right, we tease this at the
- 26:48Speaker 1: top the Jets Texans. It was yeah, well really kind
- 26:51Speaker 1: of a butt kicking thirty six. I touched on the
- 26:53Speaker 1: Zach Wilson stuff. They let him just kind of go
- 26:55Speaker 1: out there and play. He was loose under a lot
- 26:58Speaker 1: of pressure. He got sacked the bun times, but he
- 27:00Speaker 1: was able to get away escape, made some kind of
- 27:03Speaker 1: those vintage kind of school yard plays that we saw
- 27:07Speaker 1: during his last year at BYU. I thought, also, you know,
- 27:11Speaker 1: I wrote down a couple of things on him that like,
- 27:14Speaker 1: how do you make a guy comfortable? Right? A couple
- 27:16Speaker 1: of things. Well, number one, you start by not dropping
- 27:18Speaker 1: the football. This is the only game he's played in
- 27:20Speaker 1: this year where he didn't have drops. No drops for
- 27:22Speaker 1: the Jets in a rainy, messy weather game, which was nice.
- 27:26Speaker 1: But I thought, I thought he had some answers on
- 27:29Speaker 1: some hots, so you know, some of the pressure he got,
- 27:31Speaker 1: he had some answers. He was able to find him number.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That was great, and then I wrote down the three
- 27:35Speaker 1: s's like when you're baking in the game plan for
- 27:37Speaker 1: Zach Wilson. And again, I'm not saying he's going to
- 27:39Speaker 1: be a great player. I'm not even saying he's a
- 27:40Speaker 1: starting quarterback in the NFL. But if you're going to
- 27:42Speaker 1: get the best out of him from a scheme standpoint, screens, seams, scrambles,
- 27:49Speaker 1: that's that's what he does. That's where he's comfortable. That's
- 27:51Speaker 1: where he is. If you look at some of the
- 27:53Speaker 1: he's thrown some really nice seamballs of tight ends when
- 27:55Speaker 1: he can get the back of a linebacker in other words,
- 27:57Speaker 1: you're getting you're seeing the back of the linebacker's head
- 28:00Speaker 1: running down the scene with tight ends. He's hit a
- 28:02Speaker 1: handful of those this year. Where he's able to get
- 28:05Speaker 1: that right up over the top was conklin. I believe
- 28:07Speaker 1: in this one. I think he had rough well a
- 28:09Speaker 1: couple of those balls. But he loves that throw. He's
- 28:12Speaker 1: comfortable making that throw. So bake those into the offense.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Those seam balls, then screens. Obviously you've got brace Hall
- 28:17Speaker 1: is a big factor in that. Using him in the
- 28:20Speaker 1: screen game. That gives us some easy completions, as we
- 28:22Speaker 1: like to say, see the ball go through the hoop
- 28:24Speaker 1: and then the rest is kind of some school yard stuff.
- 28:26Speaker 1: You're not really calling a scramble. But give him the
- 28:29Speaker 1: liberty and the freedom. Hey, you get a free guy.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Make something happen. We don't need you to, you know,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I think in the past this year, oh, just dirt
- 28:35Speaker 1: the ball incompletion. Let's line up again. If we punt,
- 28:38Speaker 1: we punt. We've got a great defense, Like he gets
- 28:41Speaker 1: not who he is. Don't just to free him up
- 28:43Speaker 1: a little bit. I thought you did that. When you
- 28:45Speaker 1: watch this game. It was a mixture of those three things.
- 28:47Speaker 2: I'm glad you brought up those throws to the tight
- 28:49Speaker 2: ends because those stood out to me as we were
- 28:51Speaker 2: watching this game live. I'm like, man, you know, I
- 28:54Speaker 2: think maybe a couple of weeks ago, you know, Zach's
- 28:58Speaker 2: Zach's not pulling the trigger on that one, right, He's
- 29:00Speaker 2: a you know.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Risk, there's no risk throws you've got the back of
- 29:04Speaker 1: the linebacker's head. There's no risk he can't see the ball.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and uh, and he placed it perfectly on a
- 29:09Speaker 2: couple of those and those were big ones. Obviously, Garrett
- 29:11Speaker 2: Wilson having a nice game here is a is a
- 29:14Speaker 2: good development for the Jets offense. But yeah, I mean,
- 29:17Speaker 2: I think what you said at the top of the
- 29:18Speaker 2: program here is is great. Go put that BYU helmet
- 29:22Speaker 2: back in there. Man, that's how this guy needs to play.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Like, let's take the handcumes live with the warts. Uh,
- 29:29Speaker 1: the other thing game with.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Josh Allen all the time, right, I mean, on a
- 29:32Speaker 2: on a different kind of scale, I think, But man.
- 29:36Speaker 1: One of the things this guy's got to play watching
- 29:38Speaker 1: the other side of the ball. A Jets defense played great,
- 29:40Speaker 1: it was c J. Strouder had a tough day and
- 29:42Speaker 1: unfortunately got to got hit late and got knocked out.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But the Chargers game, as we referenced earlier, I think
- 29:47Speaker 1: the Chargers had one one conversion on third down, maybe
- 29:50Speaker 1: one of thirteen or something like that. Houston was one
- 29:54Speaker 1: for twelve on third down. So yeah, he tells you
- 29:57Speaker 1: a couple of things. Number One, Tank Dell's not playing.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Who's a comfort, you know, kind of a security blanket
- 30:02Speaker 1: so to speak for CJ. Stroud That's a part of it.
- 30:05Speaker 1: And the Jets have guys who can win on third down.
- 30:07Speaker 1: This is a third down league. So when you are
- 30:10Speaker 1: when you're trying and build your roster defensively, who helps
- 30:13Speaker 1: us win on third down? You know who can cover,
- 30:15Speaker 1: who can rush. The Jets are loaded in those in
- 30:18Speaker 1: those departments, they should be really good on third down defense.
- 30:20Speaker 1: And then the Jets were six or fifteen on third down,
- 30:24Speaker 1: so a much better performance for them on third down.
- 30:26Speaker 1: And I think Garrett Wilson had some of those of
- 30:28Speaker 1: tight ends as well, So I thought, sometimes you can
- 30:31Speaker 1: look at a box score and a idea this one
- 30:33Speaker 1: kind of told the story that Houston couldn't get anything
- 30:36Speaker 1: going offensively.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think you know, you're starting to see
- 30:41Speaker 2: some of the attrition there have an effect on what
- 30:44Speaker 2: they want to do. It's not just Tank Dell, but
- 30:46Speaker 2: Dalton Schultz was out to and Dalton had been a
- 30:48Speaker 2: bit third down right there in the middle of the field,
- 30:50Speaker 2: there's your third down. And then when they when they
- 30:52Speaker 2: can't push. I mean, this team has made a living
- 30:54Speaker 2: on pushing the ball down the field. And with take
- 30:56Speaker 2: on the Nico Collins goes out early in the game,
- 30:59Speaker 2: you know, as well, you're really hamstrung here, and you
- 31:02Speaker 2: got CJ probably holding onto the ball, you know, a
- 31:04Speaker 2: little bit more than he'd like to, and get not
- 31:06Speaker 2: getting rid of it, and so he takes a couple
- 31:08Speaker 2: of those hits and that's unfortunate. Hopefully he gets back
- 31:11Speaker 2: soon enough. But look, you know, I don't know where
- 31:15Speaker 2: this is going to put the Texans in the in
- 31:18Speaker 2: the scheme, in the great scheme of like this year,
- 31:20Speaker 2: like finding their way into the playoffs. But the AFC South,
- 31:24Speaker 2: if the Jags keep losing, is going to be there.
- 31:27Speaker 2: If they can hold serve until you get Nico back,
- 31:29Speaker 2: you can get Dalton back, and then maybe you can
- 31:32Speaker 2: find a way to patch this thing together and find
- 31:34Speaker 2: your way into the postseason. But bottom line is bright future.
- 31:38Speaker 2: They're in Houston when they got all their weapons.
- 31:40Speaker 1: No question. All right, well, I'll give you the scores
- 31:42Speaker 1: these other games. If there's another you want to throw
- 31:44Speaker 1: in there, go ahead. But you had the Niners behind
- 31:47Speaker 1: Brock Purdy. They get the Seahawks twenty eight to sixteen,
- 31:49Speaker 1: the Lions and the Bears. How about this one? The
- 31:52Speaker 1: Bears twenty eight to thirteen over the Lions. Colts Bengals
- 31:56Speaker 1: Colts thirty four to fourteen. The Saints beat the Panthers
- 31:59Speaker 1: twenty eight to six, while the Panthers are terrible. Vikings
- 32:02Speaker 1: Raiders three three to zero. So Thursday Night or a
- 32:08Speaker 1: Thursday Night er between a team that scored seven points
- 32:10Speaker 1: and a team that scored zero points, and it'll be
- 32:12Speaker 1: eight versus Eastern Stick So fun times, fun times, anything
- 32:18Speaker 1: you want to hit on those games, though, uh Man
- 32:23Speaker 1: brock Purdy was awesome. I mean, well, that's three and
- 32:26Speaker 1: sixty eight yards made it look easy, I mean, and
- 32:29Speaker 1: then you had it was a complete dominating performance. McCaffrey
- 32:31Speaker 1: goes for a buck forty five. They kicked their butts.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Jake Browning apparently had a thumb cramp.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I've never never heard of that. Yeah, yeah, he.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Actually admitted that he did not drink it off water.
- 32:45Speaker 2: He got dehydrated and his thumb on his throwing hand cramped.
- 32:49Speaker 1: He had to leave the game.
- 32:50Speaker 2: AJ McCarron came in and played a couple of series,
- 32:53Speaker 2: but Browning did come back again. Chase brown I think
- 32:57Speaker 2: is one of the morals of the story. There had
- 32:59Speaker 2: a big time screen touchdown Joe Mixon. They're really starting
- 33:03Speaker 2: to cook with the running backs, maybe more so than
- 33:05Speaker 2: they did when Joe Burrow was in there, which is
- 33:07Speaker 2: kind of interesting to see a little bit. There may
- 33:09Speaker 2: be more of a push the ball down the field
- 33:11Speaker 2: with Burrow, but with Browning you keep the targets a
- 33:13Speaker 2: little bit closer into the line of scrimmage, and good
- 33:15Speaker 2: things kind of happen. And I think we're seeing that.
- 33:18Speaker 2: The interesting thing for me is like, what are the
- 33:20Speaker 2: bear you know, what's happening now with there?
- 33:22Speaker 1: Justin Field's played good?
- 33:24Speaker 2: What are you going to do at number one now?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah? But I still go back to the same thing.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I think you have to be honest with yourself and
- 33:31Speaker 1: if you really believe that these three things, two of
- 33:35Speaker 1: them are facts. Younger and cheaper, right, So younger and
- 33:40Speaker 1: cheaper are locked. You know, if you take a quarterback
- 33:43Speaker 1: at one in trade field, you're getting younger and cheaper guaranteed. Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: The second, the third factor, the most important factor, are
- 33:49Speaker 1: you getting better? Right? Are you getting better?
- 33:52Speaker 2: Are right now?
- 33:53Speaker 1: Or are you going to be better in two years?
- 33:55Speaker 1: But it allows you the window to expand. So even
- 33:58Speaker 1: if you say, okay, you know, I won't mention the
- 34:01Speaker 1: quarterback that they would take there. I think we all
- 34:03Speaker 1: know who that is. You could say that quarterback year
- 34:06Speaker 1: one versus Justin Next year, Justin might be better on
- 34:10Speaker 1: a scale of one to one hundred. Maybe Justin is
- 34:13Speaker 1: an eighty three or eighty four next year and this
- 34:17Speaker 1: new Fricky quarterbacks is seventy five. Yeah, but that's not
- 34:20Speaker 1: why you make that decision. You make it for two
- 34:22Speaker 1: and three years down the line, when that quarterback still
- 34:25Speaker 1: cost you nothing. And that quarterback's now in ninety ninety one,
- 34:27Speaker 1: ninety three, ninety five, So that that's gonna be interesting.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And if I'm the Bears, people are saying, ohf Justin
- 34:33Speaker 1: Fields plays great down the stretch is gonna make their
- 34:35Speaker 1: life a nightmare. They're gonna have to sort this thing out.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I'm thinking, No, that's great. They hope he tears it up. Yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 1: tear it out of return return when you make the move.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So you know, it's gonna be a fascinating offseason. They
- 34:47Speaker 1: are going to be at the center of it, no doubt.
- 34:50Speaker 1: That's gonna be a fascinating's going to follow, Yeah, all right,
