- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hi, guys, it's just to set her back on me.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Will you accept this advice podcast? And I've got Michelle
- 0:12Speaker 2: Money and Molly Mesnik. We're talking so much fun stuff
- 0:17Speaker 2: and I've got some rapid fire questions for them right now.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Best dog hack you've learned so far? Ooh, I got them.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I don't feel like we.
- 0:29Speaker 3: But the thing that I've learned very quickly that is
- 0:31Speaker 3: the best thing for a brand new puppy is like,
- 0:34Speaker 3: even though you want to play with them all.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Day, sleep sleep, sleep, sleep sleep.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Yes, she just took a chicks snap and woke up
- 0:40Speaker 3: so sweet and like when she takes a thirty minute nap,
- 0:43Speaker 3: she's bity, you know, she's like a little who and
- 0:46Speaker 3: so sleepy.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Agree with off sleep. I'm gonna agree with that. I
- 0:49Speaker 1: love it, sot.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Just like babies. Just like babies, never wake a sleeping baby,
- 0:54Speaker 2: never ever wake a sleeping baby. Let them nap, which
- 0:58Speaker 2: is probably also a really good thing for you in
- 1:03Speaker 2: Molly in making her little area where she sleeps like
- 1:08Speaker 2: isolated into herself so that you can't she won't be bothered.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, she's really like we really quickly because multi
- 1:14Speaker 3: Poohs are known for getting like their volcrow dogs, and
- 1:17Speaker 3: they are known for getting separation anxiety. And I'm like,
- 1:20Speaker 3: I cannot have.
- 1:20Speaker 1: A dog like that. With my job, I'm like in
- 1:23Speaker 1: and out all the time.
- 1:24Speaker 3: And so literally day one, we would just like set
- 1:27Speaker 3: her in there and walk away, and she is totally fine,
- 1:31Speaker 3: Like right at the beginning of this, I set her
- 1:32Speaker 3: in her panic take a peep like, She's totally independent
- 1:36Speaker 3: and fine on her own. And I know it's hard
- 1:37Speaker 3: to do because when their puppies, they're so cute and
- 1:39Speaker 3: you just want to be with them all the time.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So true, you know, our dog was was I don't
- 1:46Speaker 2: know that heat tank. Our Yorkie was definitely had a
- 1:51Speaker 2: lot of separation anxiety. And at one point we tried
- 1:55Speaker 2: the CBD pills or whatever. Have you guys heard about
- 1:58Speaker 2: this that it relaxes dogs?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah? Would you ever try that?
- 2:02Speaker 2: If it's something that WHENI.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We did that with Lobo and it really helped, did
- 2:06Speaker 1: you Yeah, that's all totally helps.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I love it because why not whatever's out there, That's
- 2:13Speaker 2: my theory at least totally. Okay, what three things should
- 2:17Speaker 2: you be prepared to likely happen within the first year
- 2:20Speaker 2: of owning a dog, and you guys are brand new
- 2:23Speaker 2: to this, so maybe you can't answer that question yet,
- 2:26Speaker 2: but well I.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Will say, like what I've what I've learned is like
- 2:30Speaker 1: it's amazing how fast they grow. Like Ben has put
- 2:34Speaker 1: on like five pounds in a week, and like even
- 2:37Speaker 1: just looking back one week he has, you can see
- 2:39Speaker 1: how much he's growing. And like to Molly's point, like
- 2:44Speaker 1: because of that, they do need a ton of sleep.
- 2:46Speaker 1: So yeah, you know this sleep is really important. But
- 2:50Speaker 1: every day I've like gotten to know him better. It's
- 2:53Speaker 1: like a relationship, right, Like the more time you spend
- 2:55Speaker 1: with someone, you build that bond and you build that
- 2:58Speaker 1: trust and that like I don't know, like I feel like,
- 3:03Speaker 1: after what has it been like nine days of having him,
- 3:06Speaker 1: there's this beautiful connection that's like starting to form that
- 3:11Speaker 1: is so cool, and like I wasn't really I don't know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: like I didn't realize how beautiful that process is.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I know, right, it is so beautiful.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I love it.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I'm just so jealous. I wish I was living in
- 3:26Speaker 2: either or both of your cities and could just come
- 3:28Speaker 2: play with your owned. It makes it.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Have you guys heard of puppy yoga, Yeah, yes, I just.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Went like a month ago, Oh my gosh, and they
- 3:41Speaker 2: were most amazing. I mean literally this big, like this
- 3:46Speaker 2: being so tiny, and they just they do it every
- 3:51Speaker 2: weekend or maybe every other weekend in Denver, and the
- 3:55Speaker 2: one this weekend is miniature husky puppies.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I was, oh my god, oh my gosh, this so
- 4:01Speaker 1: really like yoga. Though right, you're not. I didn't do yoga.
- 4:05Speaker 2: At all at all, not at all Max, and so
- 4:12Speaker 2: Max was kind of struggling that week. I can't even
- 4:15Speaker 2: remember what was going on, but I was like, we
- 4:17Speaker 2: are going to puppy yoga as a family. This is
- 4:19Speaker 2: family date day. And of course Blakesley and I had
- 4:22Speaker 2: all the puppies and Ryan and Max were doing yoga.
- 4:24Speaker 1: It's so cute.
- 4:27Speaker 2: It was so funny. But if you need like an
- 4:30Speaker 2: endorphin like release or whatever, go find puppy yoga or
- 4:37Speaker 2: just gosh, go to a breeder. I know that Max's
- 4:40Speaker 2: girlfriend's sister is going to pick out a golden this weekend,
- 4:45Speaker 2: and I so badly want to go, but I can't.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I was just gonna invite myself because really, there's nothing
- 4:52Speaker 2: cuter than just hanging out with the poet puppies.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And the thing that I love about dogs is like
- 4:57Speaker 1: when you're with them, you have to be so present
- 4:59Speaker 1: with them, especially as puppies, because you have to keep
- 5:02Speaker 1: your eye on them. And so I've just noticed, even
- 5:04Speaker 1: just in this last week, like I am so much
- 5:07Speaker 1: more like present in my life because of this dog.
- 5:11Speaker 1: So even just getting a little hit of that, like
- 5:13Speaker 1: from like a dog yoga makes a ton of sense,
- 5:15Speaker 1: Like why people do it?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for real, I wish there were like more
- 5:21Speaker 2: of that, Like there need to be more of that
- 5:22Speaker 2: because I would show up. I was having a horrible
- 5:25Speaker 2: day yesterday and I was like, I just I just
- 5:27Speaker 2: need I would have loved to just show up at
- 5:30Speaker 2: somebody's house with a bunch of puppies.
- 5:32Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, unconditionals youse done.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Like yes, oh cliche, but it's so true.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It's so true.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So excited to see like first thing in the morning
- 5:41Speaker 3: when she wakes up is like the very best. It's
- 5:43Speaker 3: like she hasn't seen million years and she's so excited.
- 5:47Speaker 1: It's the fust It's like like the opposite.
- 5:51Speaker 3: She's like, don't speak to me.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Oh, so true, funny.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Okay, how will you your responsibilities with the kids, Like,
- 6:02Speaker 2: are you going to have Riley do certain things? When
- 6:04Speaker 2: it comes to I'm.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Being really realistic about it. I know that the novelty
- 6:09Speaker 3: wears off super fast. So I'm not like, you're in
- 6:12Speaker 3: charge of picking up poop and you're in charge of feeding.
- 6:15Speaker 3: It's just like it's a collective. We're all doing it together.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I don't want to make it some hard task for her.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I don't want her to resent the dog, right the
- 6:23Speaker 3: fact that she even likes the dog is a big deal.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So we're just taking it day by day.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know what the hell I'm doing.
- 6:30Speaker 1: You guys, are you telling you I'm with you? You're
- 6:33Speaker 1: not alone? You are not alone.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So with my kids, we really didn't force any responsibility either,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but as like, they're obviously way older than Riley and
- 6:46Speaker 2: can be on their own when we're away, like for
- 6:49Speaker 2: work or whatever. And if Ryan's working and I'm traveling
- 6:53Speaker 2: or something's going on, I'm like, okay, here's your responsibility.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You need to wake up for school and take the
- 6:59Speaker 2: dog for a walk, you know, Like so I think
- 7:00Speaker 2: it'll it'll just naturally happen. That you'll you'll figure out,
- 7:04Speaker 2: you know, how she can help out pet insurance? Would
- 7:18Speaker 2: you is it something you're looking into that veterinarians have recommended?
- 7:23Speaker 1: What do you guys think?
- 7:24Speaker 3: We did it just to start everyone, Like, I've asked
- 7:30Speaker 3: a ton of people and it's like yes, fifty say yes,
- 7:33Speaker 3: fifty percent say no. Yes, why don't we just get
- 7:35Speaker 3: it and we can always cancel? So we did it,
- 7:38Speaker 3: and I just went to the vet and I just
- 7:39Speaker 3: submitted my claim and it paid me right back. So
- 7:41Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, this is actually kind of nice. So
- 7:44Speaker 3: why would people say no because they think you won't
- 7:47Speaker 3: need it? You know? But I kind of was like,
- 7:51Speaker 3: I've never had a dog, and so I have a
- 7:53Speaker 3: feeling when something is mildly wrong, I may panic and
- 7:57Speaker 3: I'm going to want to go to the vet. And
- 7:59Speaker 3: so yeah, maybe a little more overreactive than someone who
- 8:03Speaker 3: is used to dogs. I was like, we might as
- 8:06Speaker 3: well just have it for now and see how it goes.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I am. I was doing it. We didn't
- 8:12Speaker 1: do it with Lobo and he he every time he
- 8:14Speaker 1: took me to vet it was like so expensive and I'm.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Like goldens will eat like dish towels and then they
- 8:21Speaker 3: had to have five thousand dollars.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Then totally, yeah, we're going to do it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I did just hear about I I don't
- 8:33Speaker 2: and we haven't, and you know what, after having this conversation,
- 8:36Speaker 2: I literally want to go do it right now because
- 8:38Speaker 2: I feel like once I start talking about it, that's
- 8:41Speaker 2: when something happens, right And I've and I've looked into
- 8:45Speaker 2: it in the past and just never pulled the trigger.
- 8:48Speaker 2: But when Sophie really got sick, she ended up having
- 8:53Speaker 2: a mass and oh it was horrible, and you know,
- 8:59Speaker 2: this wasn't on our mind at all.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Then we just wanted to take care of her.
- 9:03Speaker 2: But it was really expensive. So yeah, I feel like
- 9:08Speaker 2: it's you know, you have insurance for your family, why
- 9:11Speaker 2: not look into it for Yeah, your for babies, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 2: but I would for anyone out there. Just shop around,
- 9:18Speaker 2: ask your vet for recommendations. That's what I'll be doing
- 9:22Speaker 2: after we get off this call. So okay, So last question,
- 9:29Speaker 2: is there a dog item that you would splurge on,
- 9:33Speaker 2: like like a car, like a Louis Vuitton carrier, or.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I just bought him like an actual dog house. It's
- 9:45Speaker 1: like a modern looking like, yes, instead of the crate,
- 9:49Speaker 1: and it was like six hundred dollars and Mife still
- 9:52Speaker 1: doesn't know about it, but because they're growing so fast,
- 9:55Speaker 1: he's like he's gonna need a bigger one anyway. And
- 9:59Speaker 1: so instead of its crate, it's like this cool looking
- 10:01Speaker 1: like actual house. Oh that was ridiculous. It was a
- 10:05Speaker 1: ridiculous purchase.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I love that. I mean, I kind of what I'm doing.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I don't didn't want my house to look like it's
- 10:13Speaker 3: been taken over by a dog. I wanted my house
- 10:14Speaker 3: to house like I'm weird like that. And so her
- 10:19Speaker 3: she has a downstairs crate and then an upstairs sleeping crate,
- 10:21Speaker 3: but they look like side tables, Like it looks like
- 10:25Speaker 3: your couch, but it's actually a crate, so like it
- 10:28Speaker 3: fits the aesthetic of the home. Yes, And then I
- 10:31Speaker 3: created outside like her potty area. It looks like a
- 10:34Speaker 3: white picket fence with grass and a house and there's
- 10:38Speaker 3: like a fire hydrant in there, and.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Like, we need photos, we need photos.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I just wanted to look cute and like be aesthetically pleasing,
- 10:46Speaker 3: so like that stuff is.
- 10:47Speaker 1: So elite, but I don't know, obnoxious.
- 10:51Speaker 2: It's not unnecessary I mean, if you've got the means
- 10:55Speaker 2: and you want to like create that aesthetic in your
- 10:58Speaker 2: house and go for it, like.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Not it's actually really fun. There's really so old dog
- 11:04Speaker 1: stuff out there now.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Therefore they're like tell me more, like what else?
- 11:09Speaker 1: Well, like you can yeah, like even just like collars,
- 11:13Speaker 1: like cool collars that you can get, and like the
- 11:15Speaker 1: harnesses and yeah, like their beds and like there's all
- 11:19Speaker 1: these toys, like licked toys and like all these Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: they're so.
- 11:24Speaker 3: I just like dog specific blow dryer hair dryer, No,
- 11:30Speaker 3: I have it because it's like it's like not as
- 11:32Speaker 3: loud as a regular blow dryer, so it's like for your.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Hair, no, no, no, for your dog.
- 11:38Speaker 3: It's for the dog, but like its loud.
- 11:40Speaker 1: It's like it's like it's so funny.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Jason's like you did not order a dog hair drier.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And like you better. It is so funny. Like the
- 11:50Speaker 1: ridiculous things they were about to do in the next
- 11:53Speaker 1: few years is right.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Okay, Michelle, this is maybe an idea for you because
- 11:58Speaker 2: I feel like when we were looking for house is
- 12:00Speaker 2: because we wanted to have like a dog area in
- 12:03Speaker 2: new builds or you can renovate so you know, hey, Mike,
- 12:07Speaker 2: let's renovate have a little doggy area where it's like
- 12:11Speaker 2: a built in shower, like a little shower and a
- 12:15Speaker 2: crate and like it's like in a mudroom or whatever.
- 12:18Speaker 2: But I I that's a dream. That's a dream week
- 12:23Speaker 2: of mine in the future to have like a little
- 12:25Speaker 2: room for my dog.
- 12:27Speaker 1: We have a really cool dot room and we have
- 12:30Speaker 1: a dog bath in the garage.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean, I love it. Yes, it's it makes it
- 12:38Speaker 1: so cause I can built in like a built in
- 12:41Speaker 1: like little playpen with a door that sides, and like
- 12:44Speaker 1: I did wallpaper it, and I did put photos of
- 12:46Speaker 1: all the dogs up everywhere. And I'm going to make
- 12:48Speaker 1: some curtains and I do have a doggy door that's
- 12:51Speaker 1: like and a rug. And yeah, it's obnoxious. I love it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I love it.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I love it. I want a picture. Yes, if you
- 13:00Speaker 2: just send it to us, we don't need to share,
- 13:02Speaker 2: but yes, we want to see. We want to see. Okay,
- 13:05Speaker 2: you guys. I love my time with both of you.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It's so much, this so so much.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Thank you. It's fun to talk to other women who
- 13:14Speaker 1: loves dogs. Thank you. Trisa.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Oh gosh, of course I know that Benny is going
- 13:20Speaker 2: to bring your family so much joy and yeah, yeah positive,
- 13:24Speaker 2: that's true. And Molly, I can't wait to meet men
- 13:28Speaker 2: in person, like I just want to book a flight
- 13:30Speaker 2: to Utah and see you go see some Puffyes, all right, ladies.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Well you guys were my first guests for Will you
- 13:38Speaker 2: accept this advice? And I am so thrilled. It was
- 13:40Speaker 2: so much fun. You made me so happy, and I
- 13:43Speaker 2: think it was great advice for you know, for baby
- 13:47Speaker 2: parents and real baby parents. So good luck with the babies.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I'll be watching on Instagram all the world and I'll
- 13:58Speaker 2: talk to you guys soon. You know, no
