- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No Guy Coach
- 0:02Hollow for January 23rd, 2026. I missed
- 0:06you. I've been out of town for a while
- 0:08doing work in uh the former Eastern
- 0:11block and uh it's good to be back. So,
- 0:14welcome to today's huddle, a twominute
- 0:16call from God's playbook to know him
- 0:18better so we can love and obey him more.
- 0:20Today's play comes from Matthew 23. It
- 0:23says, "So whatever they tell you, take
- 0:25care to do it, but don't do what they do
- 0:27because they talk but don't act.
- 0:29Likewise, you appear to people from the
- 0:31outside to be good and honest, but
- 0:33inwardly you're full of hypocrisy and
- 0:36far from the Torah." Jesus doesn't mince
- 0:39words in Matthew 23. He looks at
- 0:41religious men, men who knew scripture,
- 0:44men who taught scripture, and he says
- 0:46something devastating. They talk, but
- 0:48they don't act. They place heavy burdens
- 0:51on others, but don't lift a finger to
- 0:52help. On the outside, they look
- 0:54religious, but on the inside, they're
- 0:56full of hypocrisy. That warning isn't
- 0:58just for the Pharisees, it's for us. Our
- 1:01wives see it first. Our children see it
- 1:03next. They know whether the Jesus we
- 1:06talk about on Sunday is the Lord we
- 1:08actually obey during the week. Scripture
- 1:10says even demons believe in God. Belief
- 1:13alone doesn't prove anything. Obedience
- 1:15does. It's not hard to be good by the
- 1:18world's standards. Don't steal. Don't
- 1:20murder. Don't offend anyone. But Jesus
- 1:23never called men to simply avoid
- 1:25wrongdoing. He called us to follow him.
- 1:28Doing proves faith. Avoiding evil
- 1:31doesn't. Jesus commands us to seek and
- 1:33save the lost, to make disciples, to
- 1:35forgive our enemies, to bless those who
- 1:37curse us, to give generously, to serve
- 1:40sacrificially, and to love relentlessly.
- 1:43When those commands shape our daily
- 1:45lives consistently and intentionally,
- 1:47that's when faith becomes visible.
- 1:50Hypocrisy isn't failing. Hypocrisy is
- 1:52claiming allegiance to Jesus while
- 1:55refusing obedience to Jesus. Look at
- 1:58Christ himself. He didn't isolate from
- 2:00sinners to stay pure. Entered broken
- 2:03lives without sinning. He served people,
- 2:05healed people, loved people, and through
- 2:07that service, he opened hearts to
- 2:09repentance. He obeyed the father fully
- 2:11so he could save us completely. And
- 2:14that's our model. We love people by
- 2:16serving people. Service authenticates
- 2:19the message. Obedience gives credibility
- 2:21to our confession. Fruit proves the
- 2:24root. Run today's play. Ask yourself,
- 2:27does my life reinforce what I believe or
- 2:30does it contradict it? Men of God don't
- 2:32just speak truth. They walk it. They
- 2:34model it and they multiply it. That's
- 2:36not hypocrisy. That's disciplehip. If
- 2:39this huddle helps you know God better so
- 2:41you can love and obey him more, leave a
- 2:43quick review and share it with a friend.
