- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to this bonus episode of Pink Shade.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It is a recap of the culture of the Real Housewife. Now,
- 0:23Speaker 1: this is a show airing on TLC January first, eight pm,
- 0:27Speaker 1: and then the next day it'll be on Discovery. If
- 0:29Speaker 1: you're hearing this for the first time, we're doing it
- 0:32Speaker 1: on Prime. But then on January eight I'm going to
- 0:34Speaker 1: be putting this on the free feed, so you'll have
- 0:36Speaker 1: plenty of time to watch it. Ke should and I
- 0:39Speaker 1: have watched it, and we are here to discuss.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You know, I did not appreciate that there was other
- 0:45Speaker 2: people who got screeners of this show and they're already
- 0:49Speaker 2: talking about it on TikTok.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Well they're allowed to. So when they send the screeners,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh would they send the screeners? They'll tell you as
- 0:56Speaker 1: of the twenty ninth, we're recording this. As of the
- 1:00Speaker 1: twenty ninth, at like ten pm, you're allowed to talk.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They sent and you should have gotten it as well.
- 1:07Speaker 1: They sent me like four clips that we would be
- 1:09Speaker 1: allowed to post, So I posted one.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Okay, you know that. I know.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they put an embargo on talking about it up
- 1:21Speaker 1: to some point, but they say, like, you can't say spoilers.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You can only say these certain things, so you can
- 1:27Speaker 1: talk about what you saw, Okay, but it's like you can't.
- 1:31Speaker 1: They send you the four clips you can use, right,
- 1:33Speaker 1: so if you try to record off your TV something juicy,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know your watermark is all the way across the middle.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yes it is, yeah, right, right right.
- 1:42Speaker 1: That's just some inside baseball guys. But I do have
- 1:46Speaker 1: twenty three pages of notes, which is a lot.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I know. I didn't.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I didn't mean to take that many, but because I
- 1:53Speaker 1: interviewed the director and one.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Of the producers, I just.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Took all these notes and that actually sort of helps
- 2:01Speaker 1: me when I'm watching it, even though even if I
- 2:03Speaker 1: don't even like go back to it, because it helps
- 2:06Speaker 1: me kind of remembers people's names, specifically people's names. So
- 2:11Speaker 1: episode one of this is called It's Cult Now. We
- 2:16Speaker 1: start off talking about Mary being on Real House of
- 2:19Speaker 1: Salt Lake City and being one of the richest housewives,
- 2:21Speaker 1: which is still unclear.
- 2:23Speaker 2: How we just don't, I mean we after this documentary.
- 2:28Speaker 3: We still one in one is still.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Equaling equaling three. We don't understand where the money is
- 2:36Speaker 2: coming from.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So when I knows, no one knows, and when I
- 2:40Speaker 1: had the producer and the director on and when we
- 2:43Speaker 1: were not recording, I asked them what their thoughts on,
- 2:46Speaker 1: like where is the money? And they said that there
- 2:48Speaker 1: is like an active lawsuit that's going through the system,
- 2:52Speaker 1: but because it wasn't at a point in the system
- 2:55Speaker 1: that they could talk about it. But there are like
- 2:58Speaker 1: members of the church and things that are either soon
- 3:00Speaker 1: the church or suing Mary and Robert, but it wasn't
- 3:03Speaker 1: not a point in the legal system where they can
- 3:04Speaker 1: include it in the documentary because it's like there's no
- 3:07Speaker 1: result to it, so there's no point, but there is
- 3:11Speaker 1: probably you know, people my understanding, it's like the whole
- 3:16Speaker 1: you made me give you the mortgage to my house
- 3:19Speaker 1: or you they put these people in financial ruin allegedly.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I get it, but I don't get it
- 3:29Speaker 2: because it's not like they held a gun to the
- 3:31Speaker 2: person's head.
- 3:32Speaker 3: It said sign over all this money to.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Us, right, But when you're in a cult, that's you
- 3:37Speaker 1: don't need a gun hell to your head. You'll just
- 3:39Speaker 1: do what they said, because you know, like they say
- 3:41Speaker 1: a lot on this thing, like any cult. And I
- 3:45Speaker 1: loved the cult expert expert. Yeah, like any cult. You'll
- 3:50Speaker 1: do what you need to do for the leader because
- 3:52Speaker 1: you think that's how you're getting into heaven.
- 3:53Speaker 3: It's not.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It is about the leader, but in your mind, the
- 3:57Speaker 1: leader is the way to heaven, like in scientology like
- 4:00Speaker 1: David Muscavage and being at that high level of scientology
- 4:04Speaker 1: is you are going to live a billionaeres and you're
- 4:06Speaker 1: going to save the planet. And you know, listen, at
- 4:11Speaker 1: this point in my life, I don't know how anybody
- 4:14Speaker 1: could get sucked into a cult. There's so much information
- 4:16Speaker 1: out there about I do cult.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I just figure people who become members of a cult
- 4:22Speaker 2: are just lost souls looking for somewhere to look at
- 4:25Speaker 2: or something.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yeah, because there's.
- 4:28Speaker 2: No way I'm signing over any I don't even like
- 4:31Speaker 2: share money with my husband.
- 4:32Speaker 3: You think I'm about to give it to a cult leader?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 4:36Speaker 1: But you know it's a lot of you think this
- 4:39Speaker 1: could never happen to you, but it could happen to you.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And a lot of these things are very very slow, right,
- 4:47Speaker 1: And so we get some cuts of up an atom.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So that's Adam featured heavily and Charrelle's World, who you
- 4:55Speaker 1: and I have followed for a long time and a
- 4:58Speaker 1: journalist named Shy round Tree now shy in round Tree
- 5:02Speaker 1: is the woman who originally wrote this article for Daily
- 5:06Speaker 1: Beasts or Vulture or something.
- 5:08Speaker 3: It'll maybe come up later. I think it a Daily Beast.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But she's sort of the one that was like, oh,
- 5:13Speaker 1: this new Housewives on and she's like a minister, like
- 5:16Speaker 1: what and started really looking into it.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Here's the thing about when Mary came on the show.
- 5:22Speaker 2: You know, we're used to there's kind of like a
- 5:25Speaker 2: formula to all the housewives. They've got a rich husband
- 5:29Speaker 2: or they are a business owner or something like that.
- 5:32Speaker 3: We have never had where.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Someone is a pastor, right, he doesn't go with the
- 5:39Speaker 2: housewives formula at all. It's kind of like, say, what,
- 5:41Speaker 2: now a pastor and she's super rich, which she is
- 5:46Speaker 2: fascinating because it goes to the megachurch situation. Yes, the
- 5:51Speaker 2: pastors who are millionaires. And it's just like, is that
- 5:56Speaker 2: how it's supposed to be?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Because I'm.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's there's that Instagram account called Preachers and Sneakers
- 6:04Speaker 1: and it's all about like the flash she closed and
- 6:07Speaker 1: how much everything costs. You see, it was like megachurch
- 6:09Speaker 1: ministers of like, oh, these are tennisues that cost two
- 6:11Speaker 1: thousand dollars.
- 6:12Speaker 4: You know, this is a ten thousand dollars suit.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And you're like, wait a minute, you're like, my little
- 6:16Speaker 1: Methodist preachers like look homeless half the time, you know.
- 6:19Speaker 2: And they have real jobs, they have real nine to
- 6:22Speaker 2: five jobs, and along with being a pastor.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah sometimes yeah, sometimes a.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Lot of the times they do because they're not making
- 6:30Speaker 2: enough money.
- 6:31Speaker 3: From the church, you know, yeah, but not in this case.
- 6:36Speaker 1: We see her preaching, you know, and we see all
- 6:38Speaker 1: these clips of people saying that they just love Mary.
- 6:40Speaker 1: They think she's she's quirky, she's funny. People love her,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and she is quirky.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And she is funny.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And then we come to the question of how can
- 6:52Speaker 1: as a pastor, how does she afford all these luxury items?
- 6:57Speaker 2: So they're not just luxury it was maybe pain No,
- 7:01Speaker 2: it's just rooms and rooms and rooms. Yes, like we
- 7:04Speaker 2: like luxury items, yeah, okay, but we don't have like
- 7:08Speaker 2: bedrooms in our homes dedicated.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Here's the Chanell room.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yes, and there's not every inch of the room it's
- 7:19Speaker 2: packed with's filled with something.
- 7:22Speaker 4: It's a horror situation. But for luxury.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Items, luxury items, what it is. Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So then she's introduced to the Salt Lake City audience
- 7:32Speaker 1: as the pastor, and we get the story her grandmother
- 7:35Speaker 1: gave her the church and all the businesses associated with
- 7:37Speaker 1: the church when she died, and the grandmother, Mama, also
- 7:42Speaker 1: wanted Mary to marry her second husband, Robert, who was
- 7:46Speaker 1: in fact her step grandfather.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Right, Okay, so that's.
- 7:51Speaker 3: We were all shook from when we heard that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's all getting explained. We're seeing clips and st all
- 7:55Speaker 1: getting explained. She married Robert Singer when she was twenty two,
- 8:00Speaker 1: forty two, Mama was sixty two. Okay, yes, so we
- 8:06Speaker 1: get a lot of clips of the I only got
- 8:08Speaker 1: fourteen birthday cards.
- 8:09Speaker 4: You old, stingy people. You're poor.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I don't want poor people around me. You poor people,
- 8:13Speaker 1: And I mean just not great. Now we've all seen
- 8:17Speaker 1: it and it's not good. You can't you can't decide
- 8:19Speaker 1: that that is bad.
- 8:20Speaker 2: No, No, I And you know I love Mary m Cosby,
- 8:24Speaker 2: I love her down.
- 8:26Speaker 3: However, that was horrible.
- 8:29Speaker 2: But I will say this, there has been a dramatic
- 8:33Speaker 2: shift from season one Mary Cosby, Right, what are we
- 8:38Speaker 2: in season five? There's a total like I believe that
- 8:42Speaker 2: the old Mary most definitely would say something like that.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't think that Mary two point zero would say.
- 8:48Speaker 3: That to her congregation, because I think she would. I
- 8:52Speaker 3: don't think she would.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Now, I don't know why. And I discussed this with
- 8:55Speaker 1: the with the people I interviewed. I don't know why
- 8:59Speaker 1: she would bring the church back up, like, because it's
- 9:02Speaker 1: been down for renovations, of which they've done not one thing.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It looks exactly the same, but it was down for
- 9:07Speaker 1: renovations air quotes. I think it's because they're being sued.
- 9:12Speaker 1: There's no reason to bring it back up. She's got
- 9:15Speaker 1: this other career, They've got obviously plenty of money at
- 9:18Speaker 1: this point. Robert Senior's got to be in his seventies.
- 9:21Speaker 1: They don't They live completely separate lives.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so, which is the reason why I think
- 9:27Speaker 2: there's been a shift in Mary. It's because she's away
- 9:30Speaker 2: from him. She's so much more likable without.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Him being around.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, Yes, I agree, because and you do
- 9:39Speaker 1: remember and I discussed this with them too on the
- 9:41Speaker 1: show and then also on that reunion when we saw
- 9:43Speaker 1: when he's around it does seem like father daughter. Yeah, yes,
- 9:48Speaker 1: strong when he's around.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I agree.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Now we meet her sister.
- 9:53Speaker 1: So her sister is Denise, and she says Mary's a
- 9:57Speaker 1: big old hypocrite and has always been a f My
- 10:01Speaker 1: earliest memories of Mary, She's needy and Mary even being
- 10:07Speaker 1: able to marry Gramps was not normal. You got to
- 10:10Speaker 1: step out of yourself to be able to marry Ramps
- 10:13Speaker 1: and have an end goal. And I think that's a
- 10:15Speaker 1: really good point. You have to be able to step
- 10:17Speaker 1: out of yourself. And my end goal is this, So
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm going to marry this guy that, according to Denise,
- 10:23Speaker 1: their whole lives they knew was their grandfather.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, this wasn't like, Hey, I'm sixteen and my grandmother
- 10:29Speaker 2: married this guy.
- 10:31Speaker 3: That is like the grandfather that they knew.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Right, they don't know your grandfather.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I mean Mary was three when they got married.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That is the only grandfather she has ever known in
- 10:42Speaker 2: her entire life.
- 10:44Speaker 1: It's gross, So it is quite disgusting. Yanne Rowntree tells
- 10:49Speaker 1: us about her investigation. She talked to many former members
- 10:52Speaker 1: and what was overwhelming to her was the financial abuse. Okay,
- 10:58Speaker 1: now we're getting these three siblings. This is rosalind Ernest
- 11:03Speaker 1: and Michael Enoch. Yes, I think I'm saying, Enoch, correctly
- 11:08Speaker 1: you are so. Ernest is watching a video some kids
- 11:12Speaker 1: singing from the old church when mama was there, and
- 11:14Speaker 1: he sees his dad was the choir leader. Ernest himself
- 11:18Speaker 1: is the organ player. And at the first reunion, Andy
- 11:24Speaker 1: asked her about is it a cult? And she says, well,
- 11:27Speaker 1: people think it's a cult. And Mary says in the
- 11:31Speaker 1: audio that we're seeing, she says it was because they
- 11:35Speaker 1: they heard me calling the people in the congregation stingy,
- 11:39Speaker 1: but it was taken out of context. I'm a god
- 11:41Speaker 1: fearing woman. My church is small. My church is small,
- 11:45Speaker 1: could never provide that life for me. So I don't
- 11:47Speaker 1: know why people think I'm stealing their money. Ernest goes,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. I was there when that
- 11:54Speaker 1: stingy fourteen birthday cards conversation happened.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I was one of the.
- 11:58Speaker 4: People that gave her a birthday card. I had.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I put one thousand dollars in that birthday card.
- 12:04Speaker 2: That is crazy to me that you would give someone
- 12:09Speaker 2: because they.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Were childhood friends.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and now this is your pastor and you gifted
- 12:14Speaker 2: them a thousand, one thousand.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Dollars because Michael, the brother that we talked to later
- 12:20Speaker 1: dated Mary when they were in high school.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so that is just crazy to.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Me and Rosalind and the sister says, oh, we'd have
- 12:28Speaker 1: emergency meetings where they would ask for money, like the
- 12:30Speaker 1: doors were locked and you were in those and this
- 12:32Speaker 1: is I mean.
- 12:33Speaker 4: All of this is very cult cult cult. Check the boxes.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Robert would instruct the ushers to stand at the
- 12:39Speaker 1: door so they couldn't leave. They'll take credit cards, they'll
- 12:41Speaker 1: take debit cards, they'll take checks. People were cashing out
- 12:44Speaker 1: there for one case. People are losing their homes. It
- 12:47Speaker 1: was a lot of pressure. But where's the money going, right,
- 12:50Speaker 1: I mean going to church?
- 12:53Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, I mean it's like you said,
- 12:55Speaker 2: it looks exactly.
- 12:56Speaker 3: It was crazy to see pictures and video when Mama was,
- 13:03Speaker 3: you know, over the church.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I don't know, those are the same goddamn chairs unless
- 13:06Speaker 2: they just have been renovating it to look exactly the same.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I mean there's been no changes at all. No, I
- 13:12Speaker 2: mean it's still the same red chairs and everything like that.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'm like, what, it just doesn't add up to me.
- 13:20Speaker 3: It doesn't add up. I agree.
- 13:21Speaker 1: No, So we meet doctor Stephen Hassan he's the cult expert,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and he says, cults control you with financial exploitation. Most
- 13:31Speaker 1: people in the cult don't know what's going on behind
- 13:33Speaker 1: the scenes with the money.
- 13:36Speaker 3: And now we get season two of Salt Lake City.
- 13:38Speaker 1: We get clips of people talking, Hey, Ben, Ben Mendelkers
- 13:40Speaker 1: on there. Later on we see my friend Gibson, John's
- 13:44Speaker 1: I sent them while I was watching the screeners last week.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I sent them clips of themselves. Both Ben and Gibson
- 13:51Speaker 1: were like, wait a minute, I'm in the documentary.
- 13:54Speaker 3: I was like, yes, you didn't even know, because you
- 13:56Speaker 3: can take whatever you want from social media. You know.
- 13:59Speaker 3: They're saying Mary makes TV, and she does.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Little Girl so we see Bobblehead.
- 14:06Speaker 1: We see the clip of her telling Whitney and her
- 14:10Speaker 1: daughter about one of the church members die.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Now, Keisha, I know.
- 14:17Speaker 1: The scene when she walks into their house because they're
- 14:19Speaker 1: gonna make Christmas cookies or something, and she goes.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, so my church they died.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy thing.
- 14:25Speaker 1: You flew right out of the center, flaid it in
- 14:26Speaker 1: a ditch. And the little girl's like, is she okay?
- 14:30Speaker 3: No, she did.
- 14:31Speaker 1: We'll where seat belt, let's cook, And you're like, oh wow, wow.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Speaking wow.
- 14:39Speaker 2: But at the same time, you're thinking, maybe this is
- 14:42Speaker 2: not true.
- 14:43Speaker 3: She's just because sometimes they say.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Things for a storyline on these shows and it's just
- 14:49Speaker 2: not true. I mean, I felt like it might have
- 14:52Speaker 2: been true but exaggerated, or.
- 14:55Speaker 1: For her to go, I'm not gonna be able to stay,
- 14:58Speaker 1: like I just wanted to let y'all know this terrible thing.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Able to stay. Wear your seatbelt. I gotta go, you
- 15:03Speaker 1: know what I mean. But she stayed, so that was
- 15:06Speaker 1: the case at all. So Rosalind of the enox Enox says,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I watched the clip of Mary mocking the loss of
- 15:15Speaker 1: a life of my loved one, my niece who I
- 15:18Speaker 1: helped to raise, like it was a joke and makel
- 15:22Speaker 1: was the niece daughter of Michael who we've been seeing
- 15:26Speaker 1: the whole thing. They used to day to her in
- 15:28Speaker 1: high school and everything. So we get information about the
- 15:32Speaker 1: girl that died Michael. She was a mother of two,
- 15:35Speaker 1: she was working to pull her life together. Yeah, And
- 15:38Speaker 1: they asked Michael Enoch, do you want to see the
- 15:40Speaker 1: clip again? He goes, no, I don't want to see
- 15:42Speaker 1: that clip again. If I'm talking about my daughter's death,
- 15:46Speaker 1: He says, I felt angry. I felt if it was
- 15:47Speaker 1: a personal attack on me, a personal attack on my daughter.
- 15:50Speaker 4: That's my pastor.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Mary never called anybody in the family about Mikel Dian. Okay,
- 15:59Speaker 1: the granddad was organists with Mama. Yep Ernest the brother,
- 16:04Speaker 1: the uncle of this child was her current organist. Michael
- 16:07Speaker 1: was her high school boyfriend. And so she knows all
- 16:10Speaker 1: these people.
- 16:10Speaker 4: She never even calls then.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And the girl was a member of the church because
- 16:15Speaker 2: they said how much she loved Mary.
- 16:18Speaker 4: She loved Mary.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Then there was somebody put on Facebook like a GoFundMe
- 16:23Speaker 1: to set up for the girl's children. Mary told the
- 16:26Speaker 1: congregation not to donate to the GoFundMe because it would
- 16:30Speaker 1: be less money for her in the church.
- 16:33Speaker 2: This was bad, Like I can't even you know, I'm
- 16:36Speaker 2: going to defend her as much as I can.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I know, but you can't defend this.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I cannot defend this because honestly, I remember that scene,
- 16:45Speaker 2: but when she tells it, you kind of do giggle
- 16:47Speaker 2: because you don't realize that, like this is really really
- 16:51Speaker 2: happening to someone. So when they said that this was.
- 16:55Speaker 3: My niece, this was my daughter, we'd already gotten to
- 16:57Speaker 3: know them.
- 16:57Speaker 1: In the documentary the siblings, we'd already gotten to know them,
- 17:00Speaker 1: so what like a brand new person coming on the screen.
- 17:02Speaker 4: We'd already got to know them.
- 17:04Speaker 1: When they said her name was make Hal and we
- 17:06Speaker 1: knew his name was Michael, I.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Was like, oh Lord, please don't let that be his child.
- 17:10Speaker 3: But it was. It was. I was like, oh Mary, Mary, Mary, this.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Is and she can't deny it because it's filmed, and
- 17:20Speaker 2: that's why she said it. That is that was her
- 17:23Speaker 2: reaction to that situation. But for her as a pastor
- 17:26Speaker 2: to not even call, your pastor's supposed to not just call, they're.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Supposed to be at your house, be at your house. Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 3: what can we do? Like they should be the one
- 17:36Speaker 3: starting to go fund me account and the set up
- 17:38Speaker 3: a food train and all that stuff. Yes, all these things.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Oh Mary, So Michael says she has to live with
- 17:45Speaker 1: what she did. Her day is coming because you reap
- 17:48Speaker 1: what you saw. Then they see the church treating Mary
- 17:54Speaker 1: like God. We see the clip of the man on
- 17:56Speaker 1: his knees praising her, and that woman standing in the
- 17:59Speaker 1: audio you are my best friend, and Mary's just nod
- 18:04Speaker 1: mat her.
- 18:05Speaker 2: She would never have dinner with that woman. No, that woman,
- 18:08Speaker 2: You're not cute enough for her. No, and she most
- 18:13Speaker 2: I think she'd have dinner with the one of us
- 18:14Speaker 2: before she would have dinner with that lady.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yes, I agree, your hands down. So the cult expert
- 18:21Speaker 1: tells us, you know, worshiping the leaders. You know, we
- 18:23Speaker 1: have this awe. We forget that people are human, especially
- 18:26Speaker 1: when the leader tells you that God is speaking to them. Okay,
- 18:30Speaker 1: now we see all about Cameron. So Cameron was that
- 18:34Speaker 1: former church member of Mary's that was introduced on the
- 18:36Speaker 1: show at the fresh Wolf party. Oh, I was like, lol, Freshwolf.
- 18:43Speaker 1: He is telling Meredith, you need to be very careful
- 18:45Speaker 1: about Mary. He won't say why. Right now, you think
- 18:48Speaker 1: about think about Cameron, and think about Meredith and Lisa
- 18:52Speaker 1: and Whitney and all of them sitting down to talk
- 18:53Speaker 1: to him and bringing him on. And it is a
- 18:56Speaker 1: wonder that she still speaks to any of them. But
- 18:59Speaker 1: she was all for one season and then came back
- 19:01Speaker 1: after this.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that is that's true. And I also found it
- 19:07Speaker 3: so interesting.
- 19:10Speaker 2: That he started revealing Okay, I feel a certain way
- 19:16Speaker 2: about both parts. I get him telling the other members
- 19:19Speaker 2: of the congregation about what's going on? But I still
- 19:23Speaker 2: feel like he did not have to reach out.
- 19:26Speaker 3: To the show.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Well, Lisa was friends with him from something else, so
- 19:32Speaker 1: she probably was like, I know somebody who goes to
- 19:34Speaker 1: that church and to like get that guy on here.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Yeah, And then.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I also felt like, why didn't he tell all of
- 19:41Speaker 2: it knowing that he was dying.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I feel like, hey, what can happen to me now
- 19:51Speaker 2: I'm already dying. Let me just spill it all.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Well, there was a rumor and some people say that
- 19:58Speaker 1: she had an affair with Cameron. He died during a
- 20:02Speaker 1: surgery for a brain tumor. Everybody's saying Cameron, he was
- 20:05Speaker 1: a great guy. You know, he came to the church
- 20:07Speaker 1: he gave. When he came, he was looking for a church.
- 20:10Speaker 1: When he found the church, he had been saving for
- 20:12Speaker 1: three years to tithe, so he tied three years worth
- 20:17Speaker 1: the savings immediately into the church. So of course she
- 20:19Speaker 1: was like chu ching. And he was very involved in
- 20:23Speaker 1: the church. He's very confident in the church. And you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: Michael says, and I've wondered about him with Mary because
- 20:29Speaker 1: he seemed real sure of himself when he was with her,
- 20:32Speaker 1: but then he stopped coming and went and tell me why.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I mean, but can you blame Mary? I mean, you're
- 20:38Speaker 2: fucking your seventy seventy year old grandfather. And then a
- 20:42Speaker 2: nice piece of ass comes.
- 20:43Speaker 3: A wrong, gives you attention, gives you money.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I think they probably banked a couple of times. I agree,
- 20:49Speaker 1: and then that's it.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so here comes this nice looking guy. He's big,
- 20:54Speaker 2: he's got money. A yeah, she hopped right on it.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I mean there's cob whips down there. I mean serious,
- 21:04Speaker 2: I'm sure what she opened our legs and with it
- 21:07Speaker 2: had been opened in social Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I don't falter for the affair with Cameron. I don't.
- 21:12Speaker 3: I don't.
- 21:13Speaker 4: So we meet Dan Cosby.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Dan is Mary's first cousin, and he says Cameron called
- 21:21Speaker 1: me and said he had things to tell me, but
- 21:22Speaker 1: he was feared for his life, but if anything happened
- 21:25Speaker 1: to him, he wanted.
- 21:25Speaker 4: A story to be out.
- 21:27Speaker 1: We hear recording Cameron saying, I don't want to go
- 21:30Speaker 1: down on Mary's ship. I don't want to associate with
- 21:32Speaker 1: her anymore. I had to go to therapy to get
- 21:35Speaker 1: over it. The affair and Dana is wanted to tell Cameron, like,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you're a victim because she's the leader of our church.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And according to what Cameron told Dan, mm hmm, Mary
- 21:46Speaker 1: and Cameron, yes we're having sex. And yes, Ernest knew
- 21:49Speaker 1: about this. We see tons of photos of Mary and
- 21:52Speaker 1: Cameron together. They're at a basketball game, they're at a
- 21:55Speaker 1: dinner there, they seemed like a couple.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I think that Robert Senor might have been okay with that.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because he's out and about. He's in Vegas, he's
- 22:07Speaker 1: in wherever. They've got five homes.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like, Okay, do whatever you want to do,
- 22:11Speaker 2: because I mean, that's more viagar for me to bang
- 22:15Speaker 2: other woman.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Do what I want. Yeah, yeah, Michael tells us. Michael
- 22:21Speaker 1: Enoch tells us that Cameron was contacted by production and
- 22:26Speaker 1: he was friends with Lisa Barlow and that he Cameron
- 22:29Speaker 1: was the one who would recommended Mary for the show
- 22:31Speaker 1: in the first place.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Lisa called him and said, you know anybody now that was.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Shocking, Well, it was shocking the fact that he and
- 22:38Speaker 2: Lisa were friends, like how did they meet? And knowing
- 22:41Speaker 2: that he was the one who got married on the
- 22:43Speaker 2: show because that was his woman.
- 22:46Speaker 1: But I wonder what his job was right that he
- 22:50Speaker 1: met Lisa Barlow. Barlow is on like the circuit of
- 22:53Speaker 1: the film festival Sun Dancers. Yes, so he must have
- 22:56Speaker 1: had a job, probably in hospitality, so he knew Lisa Barbow.
- 23:00Speaker 1: He called him up and said, we're trying to make
- 23:02Speaker 1: the cast not be completely white. Yeah, do you know
- 23:06Speaker 1: somebody that lives like this luxury like style of color
- 23:10Speaker 1: that you could recommend? He was like, well, my boothing
- 23:13Speaker 1: and also my pastor. Uh so he says, he said her.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Michael says, I think Cameron set her up on that
- 23:23Speaker 1: show so people can see for themselves who she really is.
- 23:26Speaker 4: To expose her.
- 23:28Speaker 1: And we see clips of Cameron tell Lisa about mortgaging
- 23:31Speaker 1: his home to the church three hundred thousand, and he
- 23:33Speaker 1: had nobody else in town when he moved there. He
- 23:35Speaker 1: was vulnerable. She love bombed him, and of course he'd
- 23:38Speaker 1: given all us three years of tithing. And Cameron thought
- 23:41Speaker 1: everything he was doing for Mary was for God. Oh, okay,
- 23:46Speaker 1: he does work for Goldman Sacks, So he was intelligent
- 23:49Speaker 1: and worked for Goldmant s Acts.
- 23:50Speaker 4: How could he be such a fool.
- 23:51Speaker 1: So he was in some sort of finance, so she
- 23:53Speaker 1: could have met him through that, like he worked in
- 23:56Speaker 1: the firm that does her finances or whatever one of
- 23:58Speaker 1: her five locks.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I was gonna say, we know all about Lisa's finances,
- 24:02Speaker 2: so she needs all the help.
- 24:03Speaker 3: She can get.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Yeah, she might be next clan clink, okay, allegedly, all right,
- 24:09Speaker 1: all right? Episode two is that's when the trouble started.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And Denise, her sister, says.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Look, Mary pay this woman.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Although yes, her sister, I believe everything that she said,
- 24:27Speaker 2: but she still gave off hater vibes.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Okay, and I cannot take.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Care seriously because every episode her wig part was on
- 24:38Speaker 2: a different side.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Of her head.
- 24:39Speaker 3: I was gonna ask you what you thought about her wig.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I mean, one episode the part was on the left,
- 24:46Speaker 2: another episode the part was on the right. Once that happens,
- 24:49Speaker 2: I can't even hear what you're saying, right, that's all
- 24:51Speaker 2: on focus.
- 24:52Speaker 3: And then that little.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Pisa hair that just kept sticking up in the front,
- 24:57Speaker 2: I'm like, production, can sole please like flat eye this
- 25:00Speaker 2: shit down, like, come on, please?
- 25:04Speaker 1: All right, sisters, Denise, she says, She says, I can't
- 25:10Speaker 1: believe Mary was sleeping with a congregation member. If my
- 25:13Speaker 1: grandmother was there, none of this would have happened. Denise says,
- 25:16Speaker 1: growing up with my grandmother as the pastor, it was strict,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and Robert Sr. Was gramps to us. He's our grandfather.
- 25:25Speaker 1: He was our father figure because we didn't have a
- 25:27Speaker 1: father figure. Yeah, Robert and Mama got married. He was
- 25:31Speaker 1: twenty years younger than her. They never had kids. Mary's
- 25:35Speaker 1: mom is Rosalind. We see a clip of Mary saying
- 25:38Speaker 1: she just knows Mama would be so proud of her.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So I think maybe I.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Think Mama did fear I mean, not fear favor, fear Mary.
- 25:50Speaker 3: I really do. But I tell you what, when they
- 25:53Speaker 3: first showed Robert Cosby h I was like, damn kind
- 26:00Speaker 3: of good.
- 26:01Speaker 2: There's no way he's not using this sixty six year
- 26:04Speaker 2: old rather large and very.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Plain looking woman. Yeah, he had an end game as well.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yes, so sometimes you know, grifter find grifter, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 1: mm hmmm. So to talk about how the church was
- 26:19Speaker 1: so close, it was very when Mama was their very
- 26:21Speaker 1: family oriented. We meet Dan's wife, Kim, So Kim says.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Who had on a bad wig as well.
- 26:28Speaker 4: I think that's just her hair, no, ma'am okay, I
- 26:32Speaker 4: have no.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I mean that was just her hair, ma'am. Where is Lindsay?
- 26:37Speaker 2: Where is hairstylis lindsay? No, we need her on the case.
- 26:40Speaker 3: This was a not a good wig.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Okay, hair monkey, Lindsay when you watch this, So it's
- 26:45Speaker 1: Dan's wife. Kim has not a bad wig. So Kim goes, yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 1: one hundred percent, it's the call. Yeah, yeah, you know
- 26:54Speaker 1: Mary that there. Yes, she's one hundred percent responsible for ruining.
- 26:57Speaker 4: The church what we had. So we get the history
- 27:00Speaker 4: of the church.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 27:01Speaker 1: We meet Dorothy, who was Mama's best friend and she
- 27:04Speaker 1: was a member of the church. We find out Mama
- 27:10Speaker 1: came from Detroit and walked on foot walking it hitchhiked
- 27:15Speaker 1: or whatever with her four kids to Salt Lake City.
- 27:18Speaker 1: She felt called, just like Joseph Smith before who started
- 27:24Speaker 1: the Border Church, felt called to Salt Lake City and
- 27:26Speaker 1: started this Pentecostal church.
- 27:28Speaker 3: We see her white people in salt so that sounds great.
- 27:34Speaker 3: So we see her first house.
- 27:36Speaker 1: It was called the Saint's House and that's how she
- 27:38Speaker 1: grew the church out of this home. They built the
- 27:41Speaker 1: first church in nineteen sixty eight. Hey, this year I
- 27:44Speaker 1: was born. And we find out about in Pentecostal churches.
- 27:49Speaker 1: They received the Holy ghost and they speak in tongues.
- 27:52Speaker 1: We see clips of the sermons and the you know,
- 27:54Speaker 1: knocking people down on the moon and all this stuff. Okay,
- 27:58Speaker 1: hooping in the hollering. Now we meet a guy named
- 28:01Speaker 1: Sam Kelly. He was mama's adopted son. Yes, okay, so
- 28:08Speaker 1: Denise says, Mama, this is the mama was her grandmother.
- 28:13Speaker 1: But because the mom wasn't around most Yeah, no, no, no, no.
- 28:19Speaker 3: You said, I got the names mixed up. Now I
- 28:22Speaker 3: got the names mixed up.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Okay, Sam is the adopted son, Denise says, And I'm
- 28:28Speaker 1: saying Denise is actually the granddaughter, Denise says. Mama started
- 28:32Speaker 1: opening small businesses geared towards black residents, which was an
- 28:36Speaker 1: underserved community in Salt Lake City, but she remained connected
- 28:41Speaker 1: to Indianapolis. She would go back for revivals there and
- 28:45Speaker 1: then come back. Okay, when I said Detroit, I'm in Indianapolis.
- 28:49Speaker 1: So Midwest. So we see lots of people now, lots
- 28:53Speaker 1: of clips of talking about Robert Cosby, Robert Senior, being
- 28:56Speaker 1: a monster. But he was there to harry on the
- 29:00Speaker 1: ministry whenever Mama would pass, and he was made the
- 29:04Speaker 1: bishop and Dorothy the best friend says it does appear
- 29:08Speaker 1: that he really loved Mama, and Sam the adopted Son's like,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I think he says, he has a
- 29:15Speaker 1: lot of different size to him.
- 29:18Speaker 2: So I think he just saw some woman who was lonely.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I'm sure Mama wasn't dating, yes, and saw the potential,
- 29:26Speaker 2: and he thought that he could run game on her.
- 29:28Speaker 2: There's just no way this tall, high, yellow, good haired
- 29:34Speaker 2: man looked at her.
- 29:38Speaker 3: It saw sexiness. Wow, he should have looked at her
- 29:43Speaker 3: like a grandmother.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, a mother at least twenty years older.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 1: So then we see this clip of Mary and Roberts,
- 29:53Speaker 1: which was one in the first season of Salt Lake City,
- 29:55Speaker 1: saying it was sort of their marriage was sort of
- 29:58Speaker 1: like an arranged marriage, because he said, Mama said, if
- 30:01Speaker 1: anything ever happens to me, I want you to marry
- 30:04Speaker 1: one of my girls. And Sam goes, you could tell
- 30:08Speaker 1: in some of these clips that he's angry. He's angry
- 30:12Speaker 1: that production asked that question. He's angry how he's being portrayed.
- 30:16Speaker 1: So Sam explains that he and his brother Demetrius were
- 30:20Speaker 1: adopted by Mama and Robert when he was only.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Three weeks old. He always saw Robert was his father, but.
- 30:26Speaker 3: He hated him. He hated him.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Robert and some of the other elders would call meetings
- 30:32Speaker 1: called the Brotherhood with some of the young guys, make
- 30:34Speaker 1: them do push ups, make them run around the church like.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Abusive, and they, you know, tell things.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Holding your arms out for X amount of time, and.
- 30:43Speaker 4: The elders, you know, kick a kid if they couldn't
- 30:45Speaker 4: do a push.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Up, and that's so godly, it's this.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Is exactly what it says in the Bible. You should
- 30:51Speaker 1: have abused the children of your church.
- 30:52Speaker 3: If used the children, yes.
- 30:55Speaker 1: And Mama didn't know anything about it, and they didn't
- 30:58Speaker 1: tell Mama because they didn't want.
- 30:59Speaker 4: To hurt her.
- 31:01Speaker 1: But one day Dimitrius told Mama everything.
- 31:06Speaker 4: So she asked Robert.
- 31:07Speaker 1: He said, oh, they're exaggerating, they're exaggerating, and she said,
- 31:10Speaker 1: that's done. The beings are done. But even though Mama
- 31:15Speaker 1: knew Robert was a bad guy, she stayed with him
- 31:18Speaker 1: because the church doesn't like divorce and that would.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Have been so scoop and she could see where things
- 31:26Speaker 2: ended as she would have went ahead and just forced them,
- 31:28Speaker 2: because that would be such less of a scandal than
- 31:32Speaker 2: her granddaughter marrying your husband. And from the looks of it,
- 31:37Speaker 2: Mama seemed to be a really, really genuine person that
- 31:41Speaker 2: loved her congregation, loved everybody, wanted to help everybody.
- 31:44Speaker 3: She wanted to build a community of pure a family.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I mean, nobody has anything bad to say, and not
- 31:53Speaker 1: a word financial. You know, there's lots of video of
- 31:57Speaker 1: Mama and none of it saying your poor people.
- 32:01Speaker 3: No, n G no, not no, not at all. And
- 32:05Speaker 3: it's just like you don't meet genuine people that often.
- 32:10Speaker 3: But she just really, really really was.
- 32:13Speaker 1: She made you is one of them. You hope your
- 32:16Speaker 1: pastor is a genuine person.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and she seemed to have been a hard working
- 32:20Speaker 2: as well, because she was opening up all these businesses
- 32:24Speaker 2: and not asking for all this money from her congregation.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Right, she trying to make her own I know.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Yeah, So Denise says, yeah, Mary does a lot of
- 32:32Speaker 1: things contradictory with how we grew up.
- 32:35Speaker 4: We were on welfare.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And then they show a clip of the show with
- 32:40Speaker 1: Ron Wenn saying something about or maybe it was Brittany
- 32:42Speaker 1: soon Brittany I said, I grew up poor, and I
- 32:45Speaker 1: don't worry Mary, I grew up poor and she was like,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I didn't grow up poor.
- 32:48Speaker 2: What are you? And she said, here's my question before
- 32:52Speaker 2: you go on, I have a question about that. I
- 32:54Speaker 2: was confused because the sister says they grew up poor,
- 32:58Speaker 2: they grew up on welfare. But at the same time
- 33:02Speaker 2: she said that mama had to step in to help
- 33:05Speaker 2: raise them. Yeah, and apparently mama had, through all her businesses,
- 33:10Speaker 2: was quite wealthy.
- 33:13Speaker 1: But I don't think wealthy. I just think okay, doing okay.
- 33:18Speaker 1: And then her daughter wasn't doing okay, And they don't.
- 33:22Speaker 1: They just say that mom had a difficult time, so
- 33:27Speaker 1: Mama came in and helped raise them. But we don't
- 33:29Speaker 1: know exactly what. And you know, we see the interview
- 33:32Speaker 1: later with the mom and she ain't right.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Oh god, no, I've seen the interview before. It's like,
- 33:37Speaker 2: something's wrong. There's something wrong with all of them. Between Mary,
- 33:41Speaker 2: the sister, and the mom. Something's not It has to
- 33:44Speaker 2: be something genetic. But that leads to the question of
- 33:49Speaker 2: here we go again, where.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Does all the money come from?
- 33:51Speaker 2: Because we were led to believe that Mama was wealthy,
- 33:54Speaker 2: therefore she left everything to marry and that's.
- 33:57Speaker 3: How they're rich.
- 33:58Speaker 1: But I think Robert took over all these businesses when
- 34:02Speaker 1: he got with Mama, and I think a lot he
- 34:03Speaker 1: built a lot of them up. I mean I think
- 34:05Speaker 1: that there are from my understanding from other things I've seen,
- 34:08Speaker 1: and this is all alleged because I don't actually know
- 34:10Speaker 1: from what I've seen, that there are throughout the church.
- 34:15Speaker 1: There's like a mortgage company within the church, so you
- 34:18Speaker 1: can get your mortgage to the church. So who's going
- 34:21Speaker 1: to benefit from that the church. There are a lot
- 34:24Speaker 1: of services you can get, like if you're doing anything
- 34:26Speaker 1: on your house, you needed to use somebody with the church,
- 34:29Speaker 1: like anything that's going to funnel money back to the church.
- 34:33Speaker 1: So Mary says, you know, Mama helped. Denise says, mama
- 34:40Speaker 1: helped raise them. And Mary and our mom had a
- 34:44Speaker 1: falling out when my mom was like nineteen. So Rosalind
- 34:49Speaker 1: not the mom roly Rosalind Enoch of the three siblings, says,
- 34:55Speaker 1: Mary was annoying, she was a troublemaker, She needed a
- 34:58Speaker 1: lot of attention.
- 34:59Speaker 4: She would run away a lot.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Michael surprised about that part, the running away.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I'm not Michael, so she said, I believe, but that
- 35:07Speaker 3: was like, really.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Michael says, she she liked dudes with the reputation and money.
- 35:12Speaker 1: She was always materialistic, and she was always making other
- 35:15Speaker 1: girls mad at her.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Oh well, okay, okay.
- 35:20Speaker 4: She said, he said.
- 35:21Speaker 1: With her, it was always like drama, manipulation, scandal. It
- 35:24Speaker 1: was everything was about herself and who what men could
- 35:28Speaker 1: do something for her.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I mean we've seen some of that play out.
- 35:32Speaker 2: On the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Yeah, she
- 35:36Speaker 2: always had an issue with the girls. She always would
- 35:38Speaker 2: just for no reason, get mad at someone to kind
- 35:40Speaker 2: of pick at them, you know what I mean.
- 35:43Speaker 4: She called Heather fat, called Heather inbread.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah, then will never not be funny to me.
- 35:50Speaker 1: So when they were adults, Mary came to live with Denise,
- 35:54Speaker 1: and one time she took her car and left for
- 35:56Speaker 1: two weeks. Took her car and left for two weeks.
- 36:01Speaker 3: That's that's that. You stole the car.
- 36:03Speaker 4: You stole the car.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Car. Yeah, you stole your sister's car.
- 36:07Speaker 1: And she said she just got away with everything. She
- 36:09Speaker 1: was doing things to bring reproach onto the church, and
- 36:12Speaker 1: that's why she got this fellowshipped she got, which means
- 36:17Speaker 1: you can come to church, but you're not allowed to participate.
- 36:19Speaker 1: So I was like, does that mean, like if the
- 36:21Speaker 1: tongues come to you, you're not allowed to fall on
- 36:22Speaker 1: the floor and tay the tongues, Like, no.
- 36:23Speaker 3: You're not.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Now you have to just send there like nothing is happening.
- 36:26Speaker 2: That was my first time hearing that. Yeah, past past,
- 36:29Speaker 2: it's like you're passing along the little collection. It's the
- 36:33Speaker 2: next person. Now you catch the tones and all that
- 36:35Speaker 2: right there.
- 36:36Speaker 1: So during this time, Mama unexpectedly dies at sixty five
- 36:42Speaker 1: years old. So she's sixty five, Robert is forty five,
- 36:46Speaker 1: Mary is twenty five.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Okay, they yeah, they don't mind.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Well what is it called? It seems very like predator, Like, yes,
- 37:00Speaker 3: it does. The relationship, it.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Does seem That's what I said.
- 37:04Speaker 1: You know a lot of people are going to come
- 37:05Speaker 1: away with this seeing her as a victim. You do
- 37:08Speaker 1: have all the people talking about her being kind of
- 37:10Speaker 1: a bad person before she married Robert. But Sam, the
- 37:17Speaker 1: adopted son, says when Mama died, the blanket got lifted
- 37:21Speaker 1: and all the ugliness came out. Robert was her husband,
- 37:26Speaker 1: Mama's husband, so he was to take over the church,
- 37:29Speaker 1: and we hear clips him yelling, you know, if you
- 37:31Speaker 1: trust in God, then you trust me. So he's Sam says,
- 37:37Speaker 1: if she had been this fellowship from the church that
- 37:39Speaker 1: Mama ran, why would Mama then want her to be
- 37:42Speaker 1: in charge of the church.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Here we go again, it's I see, I don't think.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Any of that happened.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I don't think any of that happened where Mama said,
- 37:53Speaker 1: because not one person backs it up other than Robert
- 37:56Speaker 1: and Mary and Mary.
- 37:58Speaker 4: I've been dis fellowshiped.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I feel as though I'm gonna go back. I feel
- 38:02Speaker 2: as though Mary was probably her favorite. I think she
- 38:06Speaker 2: may have had a conversation with Mary at some point saying,
- 38:08Speaker 2: if you get right, I would like for you.
- 38:13Speaker 3: To leave this or.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Take over this business or take over that business, but
- 38:17Speaker 2: not the church.
- 38:18Speaker 3: But after probably not the church.
- 38:20Speaker 2: But after seeing this, we know that all this this
- 38:24Speaker 2: bullshit about my grandmother wanted me to Mary. There's no
- 38:29Speaker 2: we all thought originally when she said that, legitimately there
- 38:32Speaker 2: was a will.
- 38:33Speaker 3: That says please do this, please do that. But as
- 38:36Speaker 3: the seasons went on.
- 38:37Speaker 2: The cracks started coming out and are like, there was
- 38:40Speaker 2: no will that this woman said any Maybe she said
- 38:43Speaker 2: it to him.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I have no idea. I doubt it, though, But like
- 38:46Speaker 3: Denise is like, why not mean. I mean, all right,
- 38:50Speaker 3: you want the favorite grandchild. Yeah, So.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Kim, Dan's wife tells us that Mary kind of moved
- 38:57Speaker 1: in to console gramps, and Denise said Graham's bought Mary
- 39:03Speaker 1: a BNW. She was consoling him and showing him a
- 39:06Speaker 1: new way of Christianity, which involved materialistic.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Things and drinking.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Dan and Denise both say they know they didn't have
- 39:15Speaker 1: no idea any of this stuff happened. And the stuff
- 39:17Speaker 1: that you said on the show about Mama wanting her
- 39:19Speaker 1: to have it and all that right, including her husband,
- 39:22Speaker 1: is all a lie. And Graham started calling the congregation
- 39:26Speaker 1: members and saying to Denise, to Dan, to everybody, is
- 39:30Speaker 1: God telling you I should marry Mary? Because God's telling
- 39:33Speaker 1: me that. Do you hear would you?
- 39:37Speaker 3: Yes?
- 39:39Speaker 1: No, God is not telling us that you should marry Mary.
- 39:42Speaker 2: He was just hoping line person said it so he
- 39:44Speaker 2: could bring them up to the pullpit to say even
- 39:47Speaker 2: this person saw it.
- 39:48Speaker 3: They heard it from God. Yes, yes, yes. It didn't work.
- 39:52Speaker 1: So Kim says, and let's not forget Mary was married
- 39:55Speaker 1: to another man at the time, and remembering the church,
- 39:58Speaker 1: you're not to divorce. So we see at the reunion
- 40:01Speaker 1: to Andy ask her, and she says, I got divorced
- 40:04Speaker 1: because of an irreconcilable differences. Yep, had nothing to do
- 40:07Speaker 1: with Robert Sr. And then Kim goes, yeah, she got
- 40:10Speaker 1: married to Robert Senior nineteen days after her divorce.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Girl Mary like.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Why would you lie about something that all someone has
- 40:22Speaker 2: to do is Google.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Search and there's the evidence.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Because she thinks everybody in that church is going to
- 40:28Speaker 1: keep their mouth closed because they think she's God.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Well, that didn't happen.
- 40:33Speaker 1: So we hear about our first marriage to a guy
- 40:36Speaker 1: named Dana. Dana didn't have a lot of money, so
- 40:39Speaker 1: her motive to remarry to Mary Gramps was lifestyle related.
- 40:45Speaker 1: So they called Mary's husband in front of the congregation
- 40:48Speaker 1: and ridiculed him and said he was the whole reason
- 40:52Speaker 1: that she was just followshiped, and they kicked him out
- 40:54Speaker 1: of the church and they and then the cult guy goes,
- 40:59Speaker 1: this is cult, like, behave your fear of God. If
- 41:01Speaker 1: you don't agree with us, God will get you.
- 41:03Speaker 2: So that here's another person who had been a member
- 41:06Speaker 2: of the church since he was a child.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Yes, yes, so that yeah her husband. So Rosalind Mary's
- 41:15Speaker 1: mom is against the marriage. She comes she comes to head,
- 41:21Speaker 1: She comes to a it all comes.
- 41:22Speaker 3: To a head.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Sorry at the walkout service. That's what they call it.
- 41:25Speaker 1: The walkout service. Now, this is what we just heard
- 41:27Speaker 1: about this season where she gets her cousin to sit
- 41:30Speaker 1: down and have a very staged, stupid conversation where he's going, yes,
- 41:37Speaker 1: it was crazy when your mother came into the church
- 41:39Speaker 1: and she says, yes it was and we had to
- 41:42Speaker 1: ask her to leave.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Wow, how devastating it.
- 41:46Speaker 1: It was awful, you guys. If you saw it on
- 41:48Speaker 1: the show, it was so fake. It was so fake
- 41:50Speaker 1: it was. It was so rosalind. The mom gets up
- 41:56Speaker 1: on the pulpit and is saying, this is not God.
- 41:59Speaker 4: What's happening here?
- 42:00Speaker 3: M hm?
- 42:01Speaker 1: United, we stay in, Divided, we fall. The devil is
- 42:03Speaker 1: trying to break up the church. All the people are fighting,
- 42:06Speaker 1: and the police came.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Girl, this will make me attend church every single Sunday.
- 42:13Speaker 3: That would bring me to the House of the Lord
- 42:16Speaker 3: to see some shit like that happen. Do you know
- 42:19Speaker 3: I would have been there. I would have been the
- 42:20Speaker 3: last personally church that you've been like, what's gonna have
- 42:23Speaker 3: an next? Oh, who's gonna get arrested? Next? Up on
- 42:26Speaker 3: the pulpit.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Somebody's gonna speak in tongues and get arrested. This is
- 42:30Speaker 1: the church for men.
- 42:32Speaker 3: They considered. There's people pushing one another.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yes, people are getting hit with umbrellas.
- 42:40Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 42:42Speaker 1: So Denise, her Mary's sister says, it is like incest
- 42:46Speaker 1: because he is the only grandfather we ever knew.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Okay, So here's something I'm gonna tell you that it's
- 42:51Speaker 2: gonna be interesting. So my mom's stepfather was the only
- 42:57Speaker 2: grandfather that I knew. Okay, Now, when I was born,
- 43:01Speaker 2: he was already married to my grandmother.
- 43:03Speaker 3: That was Paul. Paul only grandfather I knew. Last week
- 43:09Speaker 3: asked you to marry him.
- 43:11Speaker 2: So when my grandmother died, okay, a week and a
- 43:17Speaker 2: half later, he asked my aunt to marry him.
- 43:21Speaker 3: He tried to buy her Mercedes. So aunt, so as
- 43:27Speaker 3: in my mom's sister.
- 43:30Speaker 1: So his wife child, his stepchild, okay, okay, his wife's daughter, yes,
- 43:36Speaker 1: his wife's daughter o.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yes, so exactly kind of like this situation right here.
- 43:42Speaker 3: He waited two weeks after she wee can.
- 43:44Speaker 4: Have exactly liked this situation.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Yes, and we quit all the grandkids. This is the
- 43:51Speaker 2: only grandfather that we know on this side. He's the
- 43:53Speaker 2: only grandfather I have.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Period. Yeah, none of us ever spoke to him again.
- 43:58Speaker 2: It was like that because there was always something odd
- 44:01Speaker 2: about him, but we can never put our finger on it.
- 44:04Speaker 3: But just like that, none of us ever fucked with
- 44:06Speaker 3: him again ever. Ever.
- 44:08Speaker 2: If he tried to buy her Mercedes, I'll buy you
- 44:10Speaker 2: a new house. I've always been in love with you.
- 44:15Speaker 3: His wife's daughter, who she was a child. Yeah they
- 44:19Speaker 3: got married, right, yeah, uh huh yep, wow, uh.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Okay, Well, on that note, we'll go into episode three. Yeah, okay.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Episode three is called a message of fear and control.
- 44:38Speaker 1: So the church splits. Okay, this is half want to
- 44:41Speaker 1: go with Mary's mom then believe that this is not
- 44:44Speaker 1: what mama wanted, and the other half go with Mary
- 44:47Speaker 1: and Robert. Rosalind tries to start a new church. I
- 44:50Speaker 1: don't think it's very I don't think it goes very.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Well because okay, two of her daughters don't even speak
- 44:55Speaker 2: to her because Denise doesn't have a relationship with her either.
- 44:57Speaker 2: It wasn't just so some of this is off about
- 45:00Speaker 2: this bitch. We just never figure out.
- 45:02Speaker 3: We should never.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Really know what it is now.
- 45:04Speaker 1: So Mary says, my mother was jealous that she wasn't
- 45:09Speaker 1: chosen to marry Robert and take over the church. Okay,
- 45:13Speaker 1: now we see up in Adam interviewing Mary's mom and
- 45:17Speaker 1: Rozzie is what they call her, Rozzie and Mark, I
- 45:20Speaker 1: guess there's her husband, feel that Robert had an influence
- 45:23Speaker 1: over Mary and that Mary was a victim.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Now I agree, I agree, but I did.
- 45:29Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I just agree, just a little bit, because I do
- 45:31Speaker 1: think whatever it was.
- 45:34Speaker 4: She saw that she saw.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I can run this church and have all these businesses
- 45:41Speaker 1: and have a houseful of luxury goods and have one
- 45:43Speaker 1: to seven cousins working for me at all times.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Yeah, for free, for free.
- 45:49Speaker 1: So Mary steps in is the pastor, and then Robert
- 45:52Speaker 1: and Mary start using their leadership to chastisse people from
- 45:54Speaker 1: the pulpit, and they're isolating them. You're not allowed to
- 45:57Speaker 1: talk to anybody who left with Rosslyn. And then that's
- 46:00Speaker 1: when it.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Starts to look like a cult.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It's like in scientology, right, when somebody leaves, they're a
- 46:05Speaker 1: suppressive person. You're not allowed to speak to them anymore,
- 46:07Speaker 1: even if it's your mother, your brother, your child, whatever.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Right, Well, let me say this one thing. Will you
- 46:12Speaker 2: do hear Mary preaching?
- 46:16Speaker 3: She sounds so much like Mama.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Yeah, she sounds just like it.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Just she looks like her. She sounds like her.
- 46:28Speaker 2: But she did say in different words, you know what
- 46:30Speaker 2: I mean, you ugly poor people?
- 46:32Speaker 3: How come you're so stingy? Okay, so ugly? That's not
- 46:36Speaker 3: a good nix.
- 46:39Speaker 1: So Michael, you know, the one of the three siblings, says,
- 46:42Speaker 1: it's starting to feel strange.
- 46:44Speaker 4: There's cameras in the church.
- 46:46Speaker 1: She's starting to watch people in the service, like if
- 46:50Speaker 1: she's in another home and someone else is preaching, She's
- 46:53Speaker 1: watching people in the service, and they would get calls saying,
- 46:56Speaker 1: I see you, stop thinking you're cute because you're not cute.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that does sound like something Mary would say. It
- 47:02Speaker 3: does like I saw you. That's how you in church
- 47:04Speaker 3: thinking you're cute. You're not cute.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he said, you know, Mama did it in the past.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Would watch if somebody when somebody else was preaching, to
- 47:13Speaker 1: get encouragement from another pastor's words, not to keep an
- 47:17Speaker 1: eye on the people in the congregation.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Mary and Robert also changed the way confessions were handled.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Instead of people coming to their pastor in private to
- 47:26Speaker 1: say I have a problem, I did something bad. I
- 47:29Speaker 1: need to work it out. They had to be public
- 47:31Speaker 1: in their confessions to the other congregants. Kim says, here's
- 47:36Speaker 1: how it would go. You would write a letter of confession,
- 47:39Speaker 1: and another fore member named Susie, who were going to
- 47:42Speaker 1: see more of in a minute, says, with Mama, she
- 47:45Speaker 1: may address it with you directly, or she may not.
- 47:47Speaker 4: But you would write it. But Robert and Mary would
- 47:50Speaker 4: deal with it as public humiliation.
- 47:51Speaker 1: They would brace you, They would read it out loud
- 47:54Speaker 1: and then berate you and denise her. Sister goes, oh, yeah,
- 47:59Speaker 1: Mary would tell me confessions that people had told her
- 48:01Speaker 1: in private.
- 48:04Speaker 3: So I mean that's a sister sister talk.
- 48:07Speaker 1: But you know, Susie says, Now nobody would socialize because
- 48:11Speaker 1: nobody trusted anybody.
- 48:14Speaker 4: And then the cult, uh, the cult.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Experts says, this is this is a message of fear
- 48:20Speaker 1: and control to other members. Stay in line, because if
- 48:22Speaker 1: you don't stay in line, then I'm gonna that's gonna
- 48:24Speaker 1: happen to you.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Now, let me ask you, do you think that this
- 48:30Speaker 2: was more Robert, this is how.
- 48:32Speaker 3: He wanted to run things. Yeah, and then he told
- 48:37Speaker 3: because a.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Small part of me does believe that she is a
- 48:40Speaker 2: little bit of a victim.
- 48:41Speaker 3: I agree, I really do.
- 48:43Speaker 2: And then he, you know, told her this is how
- 48:46Speaker 2: we're going to do it, this is how it's going
- 48:48Speaker 2: to be, and she just fell on line as well.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:52Speaker 1: But I think he used her being attractive and being
- 48:56Speaker 1: a dynamic leader and people seeing her as the dress
- 49:00Speaker 1: offspring of Mama, not the direct the second direct officering
- 49:03Speaker 1: of Mama that people would respect her more as a leader.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Than him, so he could just be the man behind
- 49:09Speaker 3: the coating the whole thing.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's selling her the puppeteer basically. But he's
- 49:13Speaker 2: selling her this is how we're going to do it.
- 49:15Speaker 2: This is what you need to tell him, This is
- 49:16Speaker 2: how you keep them in line, and things like that.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Yes, And I think she went along with it because
- 49:21Speaker 1: she's like, because I do enjoy a handbag and some
- 49:24Speaker 1: five homes and also I like for you to stay
- 49:27Speaker 1: in Vegas and for me to stay in Salt Lake
- 49:28Speaker 1: City and don't touch me. And yeah, I think it
- 49:30Speaker 1: was a they worked out a deal.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:34Speaker 1: So then we see clips for the show with Jinshaw
- 49:36Speaker 1: lol telling Lisa, you know, Mary is a cult leader,
- 49:39Speaker 1: people in her church have lost everything and had to
- 49:41Speaker 1: go on food stamps just to go to the church.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Now, girl, well.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Listen, Jinshaw. It didn't age well, So Noah didn't. Cheyenne,
- 49:53Speaker 1: the journalist says, I looked into the financial abuse, and
- 49:58Speaker 1: there were people working there in Mary and Roberts home
- 50:01Speaker 1: for free, expected to donate their time and their lives
- 50:04Speaker 1: to the church. So they're working for free. And so
- 50:09Speaker 1: Rosalind Enoch of the three siblings, says, I worked for
- 50:14Speaker 1: Robert and Mary. I started to accept Mary's position as
- 50:17Speaker 1: Robert's wife and as the first lady of the church.
- 50:20Speaker 1: So I worked as her personal assistant. And no I
- 50:23Speaker 1: never got paid and I had to collect unemployment because
- 50:26Speaker 1: they wouldn't pay me.
- 50:28Speaker 3: So here's my thing.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Like, yes, as a member of a church, you do
- 50:32Speaker 2: volunteer to do things. Sometimes will volunteer to clean the church.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Someone will volunteer secretary and distances, but not go.
- 50:39Speaker 1: To their home and clean their house, run errands, go
- 50:42Speaker 1: pick up the dry clean and take the dog to
- 50:43Speaker 1: the vet. You know, no, no, no, If you want that,
- 50:49Speaker 1: that person becomes an.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Employee and you pay right.
- 50:52Speaker 1: So Susie said, they did very little for themselves. That's true,
- 50:56Speaker 1: but it's different from what it appears on the show.
- 50:58Speaker 1: My sister Pat worked there for many years Rosalind. Rosalind
- 51:04Speaker 1: says Robert and Mary talked horribly to Pat, told her
- 51:07Speaker 1: she was a slave and would work there until she died,
- 51:10Speaker 1: and that she's going to hell. Pat would just take
- 51:15Speaker 1: the insults and was called a liar, She was called
- 51:18Speaker 1: a thief. She was almost eighty and she believed in them.
- 51:22Speaker 1: And one time Pat told Rosalind, today is that no?
- 51:26Speaker 3: I think she Maybe?
- 51:26Speaker 4: She told her sister.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Susie, today's the day I wish I could go to
- 51:30Speaker 1: sleep and not wake up.
- 51:31Speaker 3: And then she did and she died. She was eighty one.
- 51:34Speaker 3: How do you have an eighty year a woman cleaning
- 51:36Speaker 3: your house? I don't know.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Susie says.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Their brother Don gave heavily to the church and the
- 51:43Speaker 1: push for money never stopped. The sister was working there
- 51:45Speaker 1: for free. The brother was given heavily to the church,
- 51:48Speaker 1: and Susie says, I tried to help Don get out
- 51:51Speaker 1: of this cycle of financial abuse, and when I tried
- 51:55Speaker 1: to help him, I was punished for it. She was
- 51:58Speaker 1: kicked out of the church, and Susie said, you know,
- 52:01Speaker 1: I really had no idea of Robert and Mary's wealth
- 52:03Speaker 1: until I saw real house has a salt city and
- 52:07Speaker 1: I told my brother, don stop giving them so much money.
- 52:10Speaker 1: You're literally a bus driver. Quit saying all their money,
- 52:14Speaker 1: all your money.
- 52:15Speaker 2: So what Cameron set out to do he did because
- 52:19Speaker 2: these people had no idea of the lavish lifestyle that
- 52:23Speaker 2: they look.
- 52:23Speaker 3: This is not just like we're doing well. This is
- 52:27Speaker 3: rich rich five homes with five homes.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Homes yeah, yeah, yeah, an apartment in New York City,
- 52:37Speaker 2: says it all. And you know she is probably in
- 52:39Speaker 2: damn Manhattan.
- 52:41Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 52:41Speaker 1: But you've seen and you've seen like the picture of
- 52:44Speaker 1: their house in Vegas, and you've seen their assaultic city house.
- 52:46Speaker 3: These are not small, rinkating homes.
- 52:50Speaker 1: So Mary kicks Susie out of the church for telling
- 52:52Speaker 1: her brother to stop giving, and she says, you know,
- 52:55Speaker 1: when that happened, I felt like God had rejected me.
- 52:58Speaker 1: And then my sister, Pat worked for them, died and
- 53:01Speaker 1: I was told I was not allowed to come to
- 53:03Speaker 1: the funeral because I was kicked out of the church.
- 53:06Speaker 3: Girl, how did she says? They?
- 53:12Speaker 1: She says, they purposely drive a wedge between families, and
- 53:14Speaker 1: I didn't get to properly say goodbye to my sister.
- 53:17Speaker 3: And then they showed the pictures from their childhood. That
- 53:20Speaker 3: that was sad, that was fucked up.
- 53:22Speaker 1: She's in the church. You destroy your family to put
- 53:24Speaker 1: Robert and Mary first. And Kim says, Kim, this is
- 53:29Speaker 1: married to Don. The cousin says, I was very close
- 53:32Speaker 1: to them for ten years. I went to California with
- 53:35Speaker 1: them on a trip and then one night Mary went
- 53:38Speaker 1: to bed and Robert and I sat on the balcony.
- 53:40Speaker 1: We were literally just talking about, look at this beautiful ocean,
- 53:43Speaker 1: look what God has created. And then the next day
- 53:46Speaker 1: or when the trip was over, Robert and Mary called
- 53:48Speaker 1: me together and said that she needed to apologize because
- 53:51Speaker 1: obviously she wanted Robert.
- 53:55Speaker 4: And then I was in law Robert and I was
- 53:57Speaker 4: in love.
- 53:57Speaker 1: With him, and she goes, he's my husband's grandpa. Yeah,
- 54:03Speaker 1: and yes, I love him as my bishop. And he
- 54:07Speaker 1: had to explain to Kim, sometimes people get their love confused,
- 54:10Speaker 1: and you're gonna need to work on it because obviously
- 54:12Speaker 1: you're in love with me. So Kim says, you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: I grew up Mormon, and she goes.
- 54:18Speaker 3: You know, in the.
- 54:19Speaker 1: LDS church, if you have an issue, you meet with
- 54:21Speaker 1: your bishop. So they would call me and tell me
- 54:23Speaker 1: to come to the house, and they would counsel me
- 54:26Speaker 1: about how I was in love with Robert, and Robert
- 54:29Speaker 1: kept telling me I was confused about my love for him.
- 54:32Speaker 1: And so the cult expert says, cults use mind control
- 54:38Speaker 1: and gaslighting to disorient the members, and they don't have
- 54:40Speaker 1: so they don't have confidence in their own beliefs. So
- 54:43Speaker 1: you can kind of see how this goes. So, yes,
- 54:46Speaker 1: Kim says, things with Robert got more frequent and intense,
- 54:49Speaker 1: just non stop wanting me to come to the house.
- 54:51Speaker 1: They NonStop texted and called me, and I had fear
- 54:54Speaker 1: because you have to answer right away. And Mary text
- 54:57Speaker 1: would just berate me and tell me how how awful
- 55:01Speaker 1: I was. Now we see a clip of Whitney reading
- 55:04Speaker 1: Mary's abusive text to her and saying, I don't have
- 55:06Speaker 1: to do all this stuff to my face.
- 55:08Speaker 4: You're so ugly. You're an ugly person. Da da da dah.
- 55:10Speaker 3: And Kim goes, that was nothing, nothing, that was nothing.
- 55:16Speaker 3: She goes. When I saw it on.
- 55:17Speaker 1: TV, I thought, oh, well, she goes, that's just the
- 55:19Speaker 1: tip of what she's capable of doing.
- 55:22Speaker 2: And then the phone calls and the text messages would
- 55:25Speaker 2: be like in the middle of the night, like yeah, one,
- 55:28Speaker 2: two o'clock in the morning, just call.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Her just to cuss her out, like why.
- 55:32Speaker 3: Are y'all are old? Why are y'all even up? Yeah,
- 55:35Speaker 3: three o'clock in the morning, what are you doing?
- 55:38Speaker 4: So, Dan Kim's wife says, Kim would be at.
- 55:41Speaker 1: The house seven days a week, and I started to
- 55:43Speaker 1: feel like they were trying to pull her away from me,
- 55:46Speaker 1: And Kim says, they told me God wanted me at
- 55:49Speaker 1: the house, and going home meant I was putting Dan
- 55:53Speaker 1: ahead of God. And Dan goes and now my daughters
- 55:56Speaker 1: are always up there with her, And if I said
- 55:58Speaker 1: anything about it, then I was with the devil. And
- 56:02Speaker 1: my daughter started to not know me very well, and
- 56:05Speaker 1: I lost track of my marriage. It became a living hell.
- 56:07Speaker 1: It was all about division, all about keeping us apart.
- 56:12Speaker 3: Okayward rip it apart. Families, uh huh.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Not just families, their family like these people may family.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Yeah, So Dan says, one Sunday, I went to church
- 56:24Speaker 1: and at the end I went up for a prayer
- 56:27Speaker 1: with Robert and as I approached, he pushed me down
- 56:31Speaker 1: onto the ground and Mary sent him a text and
- 56:34Speaker 1: said the whole church witnessed God, leaving.
- 56:37Speaker 3: You ye insane.
- 56:40Speaker 1: And he says, I never went back to church. And
- 56:43Speaker 1: right after that the Housewives came out and her tagline
- 56:46Speaker 1: was if you come after me, I'll send.
- 56:48Speaker 4: Jesus for you.
- 56:49Speaker 3: And that's exactly what she was doing. And he goes,
- 56:51Speaker 3: and that sounds funny, but that's what she was doing.
- 56:53Speaker 3: That's what she was doing.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Yeah, So Cheyenne, the author says, Robert and Mary us
- 56:58Speaker 1: heaven in hell as a weapon scare people. And it
- 57:01Speaker 1: was drilled in you that you had to accept the
- 57:03Speaker 1: teaching because of Mary to get to heaven. And you know,
- 57:06Speaker 1: and you see lots of clips of hers a if
- 57:08Speaker 1: you believe in me, then you believe in God.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 57:11Speaker 1: So Denise says, once she got on the Housewives, they
- 57:15Speaker 1: knew some people in the church are going to be
- 57:16Speaker 1: on board with this in summer or not. And I
- 57:18Speaker 1: was one of the ones that was not. And she says,
- 57:23Speaker 1: I've had bad knees. I had a childhood something where
- 57:26Speaker 1: I had maybe had bad knees, and my gramps, her
- 57:33Speaker 1: brother in law. My gramps was teaching Bible. Bible blast
- 57:38Speaker 1: is what I wrote, but surely that's not it. Bible class.
- 57:42Speaker 1: My gramps was teaching Bible class, and the power of
- 57:46Speaker 1: God hit me. And next thing I knew, I was
- 57:48Speaker 1: in the aisle and my legs wouldn't work, and I
- 57:50Speaker 1: was falling and I looked up.
- 57:53Speaker 4: So I guess like the power of God hit her.
- 57:55Speaker 1: She felt like she needed to stand up to speak
- 57:57Speaker 1: in tongues or remote and because she has those problem,
- 58:00Speaker 1: she fell. And when she fell, she looked up and
- 58:03Speaker 1: Robert and Mary were laughing at her.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Now, siblings do laugh at siblings when they fall, but
- 58:10Speaker 3: not like this. She's got back. She's got a childhood
- 58:13Speaker 3: issue that makes her niece not work. Geisha, I know,
- 58:16Speaker 3: I know, And she.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Says, I was shocked at the level of manipulation going on.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Your things were getting worse. And you know, Mary is
- 58:23Speaker 1: my pastor and my sister.
- 58:26Speaker 3: She's my sister. She should be her sister first.
- 58:28Speaker 1: And she says, but she's telling me this is what
- 58:31Speaker 1: it'll take to get to heaven. And eventually I had
- 58:33Speaker 1: a mental breakdown. The devil told the devil told me
- 58:36Speaker 1: to unlive myself and then I heard the Lord speak
- 58:40Speaker 1: to me as clear as anything. It said, it's a cult.
- 58:42Speaker 1: It's a cult, and now I believe that, and she
- 58:46Speaker 1: said and I snapped out of it and I left
- 58:48Speaker 1: the church and it's been amazing for me.
- 58:51Speaker 4: And I don't know either. People don't get out, Okay.
- 58:57Speaker 1: So Charrelle Charrelle's World said, you know, pe loved Mary
- 59:00Speaker 1: and thought she was quirky, and so Robert Sr. Came
- 59:03Speaker 1: on the scene and then it clicked with the audience
- 59:05Speaker 1: because he's an angry man.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think she fears him a little bit.
- 59:11Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. But I've seen them on screen.
- 59:12Speaker 1: It's like she's looking at She's not that fun, quirky
- 59:15Speaker 1: mean Mary that.
- 59:16Speaker 3: We no no no no no, no, no no.
- 59:18Speaker 2: And I think part of the reason could be that
- 59:20Speaker 2: everything is in his name.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure it is.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Yes, And if she's smart, if she's smart, she's pulling
- 59:28Speaker 1: a bron one and using this as a lily bad
- 59:30Speaker 1: to do something else. But I don't be like du
- 59:34Speaker 1: eat and don't know what your finances are.
- 59:38Speaker 3: She may not know what her finances really are.
- 59:41Speaker 1: So Danny Kim talked about it one day how Robert
- 59:46Speaker 1: called and it was weird because he is Dan's pastor
- 59:50Speaker 1: but also his granddad. And he called Kim and said,
- 59:54Speaker 1: if I fly you to if I want to fly
- 59:56Speaker 1: you to Vegas, would you come? And she says what
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: he says, you could tell me you love me, tell
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: me you love me. And Kim said to Dan, I
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: think something's wrong with him, like this is a big
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: this is a.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Game to him.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: She later finds out Kim funds out that she's not
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the only one. He's doing this too, She says, and
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: that made me feel free. I knew I was being abused.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I left the church completely.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: He's an abuser, he is. I think he abused Mama
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: as well. Yes, yes, yeah so.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Cherelle says, some of the ex members, you know, when
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: it first came out on house. So I've started contacting
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: her as a as a blogger and that saying that
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Robert was coming on to them, to these church members.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: And Charelle says, if you're vulnerable and go to your
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: church leader and then you get hit on, yes, well
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: then you're you're fucked for the rest of your life.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: You're damaged.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So cult.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Leaders want power, money, and sex. Those are the three
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: things they want. Power money, in sec You can look
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: at any cult, you can look next to him, you
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: can look at the same you can get the ra
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you can look at anything. It's power, money, in sex.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: They won't complete control. They have no accountability of wrongdoing,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: and in this case, Mary has no accountability of wrongdoing.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: She'll never admit she's done anything wrong because she thinks
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: she's above the law. So it was The Daily Beast.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Chyenne published her piece about the cult for The Daily
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Beast in twenty twenty one. Mary skipped the season two reunion,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: so she was on season one, she was on season two,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: and she skipped the season two reunion, and the cast
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: member say at the reunion, yes, we believe it's the cult.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: We've all spoken to former members of the cult.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Yet she still goes back on the show season four.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Well, so we all assumed because she skipped the reunion
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: that she had gotten fired because she wasn't on the
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: next season, right, she wasn't. And then she comes back,
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: but when she comes back, she's totally different.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Well in season five, last season, not the current season,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: so so so sorry, so season four, she comes back
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: in a limited role. That's when she went to the
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: hotel and like they're like, you want to come sit by?
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: She's like no, and wouldn't get anything. She would participate.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: She sat in the van at the fish filet.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Which I would have done, done a dang I'll do
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: that too, Yes, but she still was different. It was
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: she was coming into the Mary that we know now.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: But now we're in season five and she's fun. She's like,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: she's easy, breezy, she's hilarious. Everybody loves her.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Everybody's forgotten She's I don't think anyone has forgotten.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: I can't. I'd forgotten. I'd forgotten a lot of this Keisha.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: I hadn't forgotten about it. I was just like, she
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: is really changed. And I the fact that she was
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: so willing to share the story about Robert Jr. And
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: her just letting she totally took off her mask. The
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: fact that she actually developed a friendship, a genuine friendship
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: with Angie so much, so much to the point, I
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: don't know if you watched wife Swap when Angie's episode,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: while Angie was gone, she went to Angie's house, you
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: know what I mean, And she made this funny comment
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: when she saw how the other lady they were like
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: cleaning the fish.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: She's like, Alex's coming with me. I'm taking her with me.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: She's so different, and I think some of it has
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: to do with she's making her own money now from
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: the show. I think Robert Sr. No longer lives there, right,
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: I just don't think he does. I don't know that
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: he doesn't want to be on camera. I don't think
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: he lives there at all. And I think she's happier. Yeah,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: he's just happier, you know. I think she's been chained
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: for so long.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: But again, you can't forget.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: There are still all these victims, so Adam says Evan
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Adam says, now season five, she's refused to talk about
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: her husband and the church. She just has to engage
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: on the show. And now everybody loves her and everybody
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: has forgotten because she never mentions Robert SR. And never
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: mentions the church. So now that is gone, and Adam says,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: she gets a huge pass and she didn't get any
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: repercussions for this stuff that, you know, because she went
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: away for a season. So then we see an interview
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: we're asking her if your chur church is a cult,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: and she's that's ridiculous. Why would I come on TV
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: if I was running a cult? Well, why would you
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: come on TV if you were running Ponzi schemes? And
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: they do it all the time, and then steal money
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: from old people and.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: They do it all the time.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Let's list out the people that have been arrested. So
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: you Chyenne goes for her to say, why would I
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: come on TV if I was running a cult?
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: That's a deflection because for the.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Congregation members there are a lot of unresolved issues and
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: a lot of these people want apologies from her. Now
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: we meet Bishop Galvin. Bishop Galvin is of the Sole
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Restoration Ministries.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: Move of God.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: That is just too much to say.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: The Sole Restoration Ministries Move of God Pentecostal Church. The
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: church is made up of ex members of Faith Simple,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: the ones who were kicked out. And Bishop Galvin says,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: the Lord has spoken to me and told me I
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: have to forgive what happened at the Faith Simple Pentecostal Church.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Denise and Susie. So Denise, the sister Susie, the other
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: the pat works for them. So as you say, the
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Sole Restoration ministries. Move of God Pentecostal Church is like
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Mama's love has come back. It is like the church
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: that we have for in earnest Enox says, I had
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: to protect my peace. I had to leave because he
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: was the organist and his dad was the organist. So
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I've gone to the other church and it's like now
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I've got joy in my life. The church is currently
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: looking for a permanent home and where Faith Simple is today,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the church has been renovated and they see him. They're
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: asking Kim about the renovation. She goes, then, done any renovation?
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: I mean he doesn't really look like you know.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: We see Rosalind watching I want to make sure we
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: you know I'm I'm not talking about Mary's mother.
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: She's passed.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: We see Roslind watching a clip of when Whitney and
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: her dad and everybody came to the church and they're
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: all like cheering in the front row and everybody's clapping,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and Roslind goes, no, this was all fake, which we
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: knew that we knew that it was fake. She said,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: this was all fake. Word got out there. We're going
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: to record Real Housewives there and I said I'm not
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: going tonight and I'm not going ever again, and I've
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: never gone to another service.
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: She says, you know that was that was a fake service.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: And she says individuals still caught in those walls are
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: not seeing the true signs. When things seem off, You
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: need to take a step back and look. You don't
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: have to live under spiritual abuse. You don't have to
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: live under religious abuse. God is love and if you
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: don't feel love and freedom, then you should find something else.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Michael Michael Enox says people in that church are delusional.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: God don't wear Louis Vauton and the devil don't wear Prada,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: but baby he wears Chanel. That was the perfect way
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: to end it. That was the ending, black screen of
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: death tells us. At the end, Robert Cosby Senior no
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: longer appeal appears on the Real House Office of Salt
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Lake City.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Due to issues with production.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Mary Cosby's mother, Rosalind, died during the making of this documentary.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Produce Re treashed out to Mary and Robert Cosby. They
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: declined to be interviewed or to comment on any of
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the allegations made in this program.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: I will tell you.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: That when Mary before season five started and Mary wasn't
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: watch What Happens Live Andy. Andy asked her, now, why
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: did you decide to come back. She goes, y'all needed me.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: I don't know they did. She goes, I'm here. I'm
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: here to help you.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: And he just laughed.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: She was right because I mean, and I have to
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: agree with her because they had a couple of seasons.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: They was like, uh, Mary came back and now we're
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: all fucking loving Salt City again.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: And he said, so we're gonna see Robert Senior on
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: the show. She goes, no, and he said why not,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: and she goes, he don't like you.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: He don't like you.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: And Andy goes, he didn't like me, and she goes.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: She goes, no, he didn't like you. He didn't like production.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: So no, he won't be on the show. So he
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: wants to again.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody needs that old grandpa farting around. He was grumpy.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: He brought nothing to the so you know, Jersey husbands
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: bring a little bit something to the ship rather absolutely
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: nothing to the ship.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: I agree, I crak. That's it.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: We did it.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: It was twenty three pages of notes and boom, we
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: did it in less than an hour and a half.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I'm so proud we did. I'm so proud. I thought
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: it was a very good documentary. Everybody I would recommend it.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: I thought it was well done. I think that some
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: people I talked to that had also seen it didn't
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: like all of the clips of the social media and
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: the and the air quote bloggers and all that.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: They didn't like all that. But I disagree.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: I think that it's needed in a documentary like this
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: because so much of the story is driven by an
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: article and then that gets tractional social media and then
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: the TikToker start looking into it, and so yeah, because
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: the story like this is so driven by social media,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think you needed it.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I think you think that, Yeah, you do, you do,
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: because so much information we get straight from social media.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: And how much chatter was about it.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: So if somebody goes into Lost just like sort of
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: knowing what the housewives are, but they don't really know,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: they're just going to watch this documentary, it sort of
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: helps to see how many people are talking about it.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Yeah, So I thought I thought it was I thought
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: it was a good.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Element, but some other people didn't like it. It would
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: have been only it had only been two episodes. If
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: they wouldn't have had all that, it would have been less.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: That is true. That is true, but I feel like
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: it was still needed. I was.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: I agreed, watch everybody.
