- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Jinjag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here Saturday, August, sixteenth.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar has had a preseason football game tomorrow, preseason week two.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar has lost in week one, thirty-one to twenty-five against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: There was definitely some good things.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: There was definitely some not so great things.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: So they've had a week of practice, a lot of practices this week, leading up to
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: preseason week two, a really intense scrimmage practice on Thursday followed by kind of what would be a normal Friday during the regular season yesterday, kind of a walkthrough sort of practice during
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: a little bit more than a walkthrough, but definitely more mental than physical yesterday.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jagger taking on the Saints previewing preseason games, it's a little weird just because like you're not looking at actual matchups, you don't know exactly who's playing.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, at this time, day before, couple days before we knew that the Jaguar starters would play against the Steelers right now.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like it's kind of up in the air.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know yet exactly if the Jaguar starters are going to play or not.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen talked about.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: going to make that decision based on some injuries and didn't want to put certain players out there and not be able to put other players out there, put certain starters in bad positions.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like for example, like do you want to put Trevor Lawrence out there if you don't have a quality starting five in front of him, things like that.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't know exactly yet.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: We do know that Travis Hunter's dealing with a minor
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: Upper body injury didn't participate in the team portion of practice yesterday per cautionary not something to get worried about not something to be alarmist about not something that should suggest that he can't play both sides of the ball in the NFL and it's possible that we find out It would be better for him down the line to potentially play one side or the other This is not an indicator of that.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: This is just simply
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: the rigors of NFL training camp going through, practicing a lot, practicing in intense settings, playing both sides to me.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know this for sure, but it looks to me like if there was an actual game, a meaningful game, this weekend that he would be able to play.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: So that's that.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, the same, it's why I don't know exactly what they're going to be doing.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: For these preseason games, you don't have the same matchups, you don't have the same coaching schemes, right?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's much more vanilla.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Again, previewing preseason games for me for the jag wars.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think fans should be more just focused on the jag wars, not the other team at all.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see the starters play in this one.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I know, again, I'm happy I don't have to make the decision.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I've talked about that a lot, whether starters play during the preseason are not very loud.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a coach in the NFL because what an unbelievably difficult decision.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't play your starters,
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: They probably are not going to get an opportunity to step foot on a football field as a unit in a real, real game until week one of the regular season.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to be doing, you're not going to be playing the starters in week three of the preseason.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you will get the joint practice against the dolphins next week.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think you're seeing the starters next weekend.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: That again is like these these units I don't think are ready to play in the regular season yet and they don't have to be ready on August, sixteenth they don't have a regular season game until early September.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: but it's getting close.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you want to see them be able to execute alignment and assignment on both sides of the ball, eliminate pre-snap penalties, on offense, eliminate mental mistakes, the controllables, right?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: If you have an execution mistake, that's one thing.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: But if you have a misdesignment, if you have a pre-snap mental issue, it's the things you can control that you want to be able to really hone in on.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: alignment and assignment and Liam Cohen talks about that often.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone talks about it as well.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: One thing James Gladstone did bring up this week that I thought was worth talking about a little bit as even though there were mistakes, pre-snap, misassimates, things of that nature.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: There were also some really good things and in terms of the
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: situational football, and they want to be situational masters, you know, converting a fourth down, getting into a position where you can attempt a seventy yard kick at the end of the half, things of that nature.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that those are worse, paying attention to as well, not just the mistakes, but being able to be situational masters is key for the jag wars.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: And being able to do that in preseason week one doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't continue to be a good situational football team into preseason week two and moving forward.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that that's going to be critical for the Jaguars getting better at the stuff that was negative in week one, the alignment and assignment stuff.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I really want to see the starting defense.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I don't think Tyson Campbell is going to be sitting up for this one.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't look like maybe Travis Hunter won't either.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I want to see the starting defense come out and be more aggressive in coverage, not have the misdesignments, not be aligned in nine yards off the line of scrimmage as corners if it's a third and two situation and the offense can just throw the football to their receiver immediately.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: They're obviously going to get the first down.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: I want them to look a little bit more buttoned up on the defensive side of the ball and I know Anthony Campanylight does too, so that would be really good.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you see them more buttoned up on defense and you see less pre-snap issues offensively and defensively, right?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Because really that was a pre-snap issue as well.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: An alignment issue.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: You also saw some mis-designments in coverage, which you want to clean that up again.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: If you get beat one on one, it is what it is.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you get beat because you have a mental mistake, that's unacceptable.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see the starting defense play a lot better.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see the starters in general.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they need it.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: But we'll find out soon enough tomorrow at one PM, the Jaguar, it's kick off against the Saints.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see Seth and again play more.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's on drafted for agent quarterback out of Memphis.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he, again, I said this earlier.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not ready to sit here and say that he should absolutely be the Jags QB-II, but
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: because QB-two is about so much more than just like what you can do on the field.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's how you handle yourself in the room and how you help the starting quarterback get prepared, all these things.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: But Seth Hennigan, to me, is definitely the most talented thrower of the football on this team, not name Trevor Lawrence.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: He can spin it.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: He can do things with his arm that simply
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: Nick Mullins and John Wolford can't do.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to see him continue to play.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see Bacial Tutton play.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was really good in week one.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's really been very effective during training camp, especially the last couple weeks.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to continue to see him get the rock.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: He's my guy right now in the running back room.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's who I would be trying to get ready to take the most snaps in the running back room.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think he has the most balanced game and he's a home run hitter.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Wyatt Milim, I'm excited to see him.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he did a tremendous job in preseason week one playing tackle.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be interesting with the offensive line injuries right now, who is out there and who is not, but I think Wyatt Milim will definitely play.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to see him play some guard.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: It was good seeing him play tackle.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see him play some guard.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Jonah Monheim play more center.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that he did a much better job once they switched him to playing center late in the game.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a much more natural position for him than guard.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Do any receiver step up to try to make this roster?
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I feel like there's a pretty good five locked in right now, although I would say, over the last week or so, Joshua Cephas hasn't been as impactful during the game or in practice as he had been earlier.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, I still think he should be the wide receiver five and you've got your top three and you've got Parker Washington.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think you got Joshua Cephas.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Does anybody step up to want to kind of show that they need to be on this roster?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: at receiver.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think corner as well is going to be interesting because a lot of guys are competing to try to make that spot or to make a spot at corner.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: And you're not going to have all your starters out there.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: So what ends up happening there.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a lot of a tradition there.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Zechariah McPherson on IR, Levi Wallace on IR, Tyson Campbell day to day, Travis Hunter, per cautionary.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, and Buster Brown is out right now.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, there's, there's been a lot of attrition at corner, and some of these other guys step up and potentially make a case to be on the roster.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to continue to see Danny Strigal go out there and compete high effort player at Edge.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's undrafted for Agent, but I think that he is making a case to potentially make his roster.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Think BJ Green is as well out of Colorado.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter's teammate, both of those edge guys can really play.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, honestly Cam, little hit a seventy five yarder.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: be situational masters once again at the end of the half and go for a seventy five yarder.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: End of half is when you can afford to attempt those types of things and not have any repercussions because if you miss that kick and and you know there's time left on the clock you're given the opposing offense great great field position basically putting them into field goal range but.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: When you do it at the end of the half you know you're you're kind of safeguarded for anything like that happening but yeah.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Cam a little nail along kick.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be cool if it's over seventy yards.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Break the preseason record for the second week in a row.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: But in all seriousness, yeah, God, they're continued execute if you're Cam a little.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: Ross Madison had a missed tackle last week and in special teams, you want to see him clean that up.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Logan Cook did a good job, so continue to see those.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Special specialists doing a good job for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but yeah, that'll do it preseason week two tomorrow one PM Jaguars versus Saints.
