Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 13th.
- 0:11Stay awake, stay ready. It is possible to look fine on
- 0:15the outside while carrying a lot on the inside.
- 0:19Proverbs chapter 14, verses 13 to 14 says even in laughter, the
- 0:23heart may ache. That verse feels painfully real
- 0:26sometimes. You can laugh with friends, go
- 0:29through your routine, even seem happy and still have a heart
- 0:32that is struggling underneath. God sees that hidden ache.
- 0:37He is not fooled by appearances and He is not distant from your
- 0:40inner life. Jesus says in Mark chapter 13
- 0:44verses 32 to 33, be on guard, keep awake.
- 0:48He is talking about spiritual readiness, about living with
- 0:51attention, faith and alertness instead of drifting through life
- 0:56unaware. He is not calling us to panic.
- 0:59He is calling us to stay close. Stay awake in your heart, stay
- 1:03ready in your spirit. Stay faithful.
- 1:05In the ordinary moments, that matters because life is
- 1:08unpredictable. Emotions change, circumstances
- 1:12shift. Some days feel bright and others
- 1:15feel confusing without warning. If your spiritual life only
- 1:19depends on how you feel, you will constantly be thrown off
- 1:22balance. But when your heart is anchored
- 1:25in Jesus, you can remain steady even when life is uncertain.
- 1:29Proverbs also reminds us that our choices bear fruit.
- 1:33The backslider is filled with the fruit of his ways, and the
- 1:36good person is filled with the fruit of his ways.
- 1:39In other words, the direction of your life is being shaped right
- 1:42now. Quiet choices matter.
- 1:45Private habits matter. Daily devotion matters.
- 1:48No one becomes spiritually strong by accident.
- 1:52So if you have been spiritually sleepy, distracted, or
- 1:55pretending everything is OK while your heart is hurting, let
- 1:58today be a wake up call filled with grace.
- 2:01Bring your real heart to God. Ask Him to make you attentive
- 2:05again. Let Him awaken your love for
- 2:07Him, your hunger for truth, and your awareness of His Presence.
- 2:11Jesus is not asking you to live anxious.
- 2:15He is asking you to live awake. Let's pray.
- 2:18Heavenly Father, thank you for seeing beyond my outward smile
- 2:21and knowing what is really in my heart.
- 2:24Help me stay spiritually awake, alert and close to You.
- 2:27When I am distracted or discouraged, draw me back to
- 2:30Your presence. Let my daily choices produce
- 2:33good fruit and teach me to live ready, faithful and anchored in
- 2:36You. In Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:43What if you could rise up and declare with full spiritual
- 2:46authority, I shall not die but live?

- 3:47Proverbs chapter 14 verses 13 to 14 World English Bible.
- 3:52Even in laughter, the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end
- 3:55in heaviness. The unfaithful will be repaid
- 3:59for his own ways. Likewise, a good man will be
- 4:01rewarded for his ways. Mark Chapter 13 World English
- 4:05Bible As he went out of the temple, one of his disciples
- 4:09said to him, Teacher, see what kind of stones and what kind of
- 4:12buildings? Jesus said to him, do you see
- 4:15these great buildings? There will not be left here 1
- 4:19stone on another, which will not be thrown down.
- 4:22As he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter,
- 4:25James, John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when will
- 4:30these things be? What is the sign that these
- 4:33things are all about to be fulfilled?
- 4:35Jesus answering began to tell them, Be careful that no one
- 4:39leads you astray, for many will come in my name saying I am He
- 4:44and will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors
- 4:47of wars, don't be troubled, for those must happen.
- 4:50But the end is not yet, for nation will rise against nation
- 4:54and Kingdom against Kingdom. There will be earthquakes in
- 4:57various places. There will be famines and
- 5:00troubles. These things are the beginning
- 5:02of birth pains, but watch yourselves, for they will
- 5:06deliver you up to councils. You will be beaten in
- 5:08synagogues, you will stand before rulers and kings for my
- 5:12sake, for a testimony to them. The good news must first be
- 5:16preached to all the nations when they lead you away and deliver
- 5:20you up. Don't be anxious beforehand, or
- 5:22premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given
- 5:26you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy
- 5:30Spirit. Brother will deliver up brother
- 5:32to death, and the Father his child.
- 5:35Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put
- 5:38to death. You will be hated by all men for
- 5:41my name's sake, but he who endures to the end will be
- 5:44saved. But when you see the abomination
- 5:47of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing
- 5:51where it ought not, let the reader understand.
- 5:54Then let those who are in Judaflee to the mountains, and
- 5:58let him who is on the House stop, not go down nor enter in
- 6:01to take anything out of his house.
- 6:04Let him who is in the field not return back to take his cloak.
- 6:08But woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse
- 6:11babies in those days. Pray that your flight won't be
- 6:14in the winter, for in those days there will be oppression such as
- 6:18there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation
- 6:21which God created until now, and never will be.
- 6:25Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have
- 6:28been saved but for the sake of the chosen ones whom He picked
- 6:32out, He shortened the days. Then if anyone tells you, look
- 6:36here is the Christ, or look there, don't believe it.
- 6:40For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will
- 6:42show signs and wonders that they may lead astray, if possible,
- 6:46even the chosen ones. But you watch.
- 6:50Behold, I have told you all things beforehand.
- 6:53But in those days after that oppression, the sun will be
- 6:56darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will be
- 7:00falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens
- 7:03will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of
- 7:06Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
- 7:10Then he will send out his angels and will gather together his
- 7:13chosen ones from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to
- 7:16the ends of the sky. Now from the fig tree learn this
- 7:20parable. When the branch has now become
- 7:23tender and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is
- 7:26near. Even so you also, when you see
- 7:29these things coming to pass, know that it is near at the
- 7:31doors. Most certainly, I say to you,
- 7:35this generation will not pass away until all these things
- 7:38happen. Heaven and earth will pass away,
- 7:41but my words will not pass away. But of that day or that hour no
- 7:45one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only
- 7:49the Father. Watch, keep alert and pray, for
- 7:52you don't know when the time is. It is like a man traveling to
- 7:56another country, having left his house and given authority to his
- 8:00servants and to each one his work, and also commanded the
- 8:03doorkeeper to keep watch. Watch therefore, for you don't
- 8:07know when the Lord of the house is coming, whether at evening or
- 8:10at midnight or when the rooster crows, or in the morning, lest
- 8:14coming suddenly He might find you sleeping.
- 8:19What I tell you, I tell all. Watch.
