- 0:13Speaker 1: Once again, back is the incredible Billy the Kid.
- 0:16Speaker 5: Live and local.
- 0:19Speaker 6: Billy the Kid.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome to your Thursday to September 3rd on Mix 102.9.
- 0:29Speaker 1: My name is Billy the Kid. Candace Lopez is here.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Producer Poo is here bright and early. Candace, how are you?
- 0:34Speaker 2: I'm good. I'm good. I realize you were talking the
- 0:36Speaker 2: other day about all of a sudden you're just wanting
- 0:37Speaker 2: to clean. You didn't know if it was like your
- 0:39Speaker 2: birthday this week or what the deal was getting rid
- 0:42Speaker 2: of stuff. Did you see this thing on TikTok that's
- 0:44Speaker 2: showing like September is basically like the new January?
- 0:47Speaker 1: I saw that. They were like, everybody's doing their new
- 0:49Speaker 1: thing and resolutions as the start of the school year
- 0:52Speaker 1: instead of doing it in January.
- 0:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's like self-improvement time, like fresh starts, new routines and goals.
- 0:59Speaker 2: So I guess people say like, you know, back to school.
- 1:01Speaker 2: This is a whole new chapter. So time to declutter.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Think about your resolutions that you made in January. And
- 1:07Speaker 2: maybe it's also like a heads up if you haven't
- 1:09Speaker 2: started it.
- 1:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Now's a good time. You got a few more months.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Well, I saw something else. Somebody's trying to pass a
- 1:14Speaker 1: law saying they want to change the whole calendar to
- 1:17Speaker 1: five months.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Okay, I saw that too.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I was like, wait, huh?
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's interesting because, like, why are we like this?
- 1:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Listen, it's too early to figure it out.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But they were basically saying if we got rid of,
- 1:28Speaker 1: if we made every month the same.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Same length, yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Same length. We'd have exactly so many months. And I'm like,
- 1:35Speaker 1: we're not going to change the calendar.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We're not. But why do we break it into 12
- 1:38Speaker 2: and then some months have whatever, some months have. I
- 1:40Speaker 2: have to like go on my knuckles. You know the
- 1:42Speaker 2: little trick where you go on your knuckles to like
- 1:44Speaker 2: remember which months have how many days?
- 1:46Speaker 1: No, I don't. But you taught me that and I
- 1:48Speaker 1: was so confused.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah. That's how I know it. Like the knuckle January, February, March, April.
- 1:53Speaker 1: She's touching her knuckles right now and I couldn't tell
- 1:55Speaker 1: you why.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you go on the top and then in between
- 1:57Speaker 2: to remember. It's a whole thing. You have to see it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Mine are ashy. It's kind of hard, but okay.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Why do we do this?
- 2:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It's some kind of thing that we've done for a
- 2:06Speaker 1: long time for a reason, but I'm too dumb to
- 2:08Speaker 1: get into it.
- 2:08Speaker 2: We just keep going with it, but yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 1: And why not at this point? Why not?
- 2:12Speaker 2: I guess so.
- 2:13Speaker 1: At this point. Producer Pooh, what's up with you?
- 2:15Speaker 8: Man, yesterday I discovered a new little trail by my house.
- 2:18Speaker 8: I got my bike back, so I was riding my
- 2:21Speaker 8: bike around, and I came across a few runners, and
- 2:24Speaker 8: And I was like, behind you. And they kind of
- 2:27Speaker 8: looked at me crazy.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Oh.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And I kept riding or whatever. And I did it again.
- 2:31Speaker 3: And this guy goes, hey, he flagged me down.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He goes, hey, man. The proper etiquette is to say,
- 2:37Speaker 1: on your left.
- 2:38Speaker 9: Right.
- 2:38Speaker 3: And I was like... On your left.
- 2:40Speaker 2: On your left, yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I was like, he goes, because when you say behind you,
- 2:43Speaker 3: people don't... They're like, what?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Right. Of course you're behind me.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's behind me.
- 2:48Speaker 3: And I didn't know that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I was like, oh. Oh, you got to say on
- 2:50Speaker 1: your left, on your right, so they know which way
- 2:52Speaker 1: you're going, so they know which way to move. Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It's a courtesy thing.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:57Speaker 6: So.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I found that out yesterday.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I was like, why are these people staring.
- 3:02Speaker 1: At me all crazy?
- 3:03Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm behind you.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You're supposed to have like a little bell too.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Oh, well, I don't have a bell on my bike.
- 3:09Speaker 1: You need a bell.
- 3:10Speaker 3: A bell?
- 3:10Speaker 1: For what?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you can give them a heads up.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Just a ding-ding, so they know you're coming if you're
- 3:14Speaker 1: going to ride on a train. I'm not even kidding you.
- 3:16Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Let me see if he's left.
- 3:17Speaker 3: No, he's trying to figure out.
- 3:19Speaker 2: No, it's smart.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It's smart to have.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Y'all are both being for real.
- 3:23Speaker 2: At some point, you're too far for them to hear
- 3:25Speaker 2: you say on your left, so you click the bell,
- 3:27Speaker 2: and then when you get a little closer, then you
- 3:28Speaker 2: say on your left.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Now that's etiquette.
- 3:32Speaker 2: No, I had a bell on my bike when I
- 3:34Speaker 2: was riding trails and doing all that stuff.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I guess I'll go get a bell.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Or you can just do a bell sound with your mouth.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Do it. On your left.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Do that today at the trail.
- 3:47Speaker 2: It's better than nothing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Do that. Please, thank you. I got to thank everybody
- 3:52Speaker 1: at the Rangers. I had so much fun yesterday throwing
- 3:55Speaker 1: the first pitch out, which was, I don't know, it
- 3:57Speaker 1: was kind of like a little mini dream come true.
- 3:59Speaker 2: No, it is.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So thank you to the Rangers. It was such a
- 4:02Speaker 1: fun experience. Everybody's so nice. Tyler's amazing over there. Tyler's
- 4:07Speaker 1: so great at the Rangers. He's just so, he makes
- 4:09Speaker 1: you feel like, I was practicing back there.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Behind, you know, I don't know where the players come
- 4:15Speaker 1: out and stuff beforehand. He's like, yeah, we'll get you
- 4:17Speaker 1: a ball. And then I hit Pooh in the knee.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Oh, Lord, he tore my knee up.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Well, it was a good throw, Candice.
- 4:23Speaker 7: It was.
- 4:23Speaker 3: It was, for real.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You saw. And then he didn't catch it and hit
- 4:25Speaker 1: his knee.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Right.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah. When I got out there, my throw was pretty
- 4:29Speaker 1: good for opposite-handed.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It was, yeah.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I mean.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Really good. I was proud of you.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Could it have been better?
- 4:35Speaker 10: Sure.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but, I mean, you didn't have a lot of notice.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 4:39Speaker 2: You have a broken hand. I mean, you did good.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And the catcher said I did good.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Travis Jankowski was the one catching for you.
- 4:46Speaker 7: Yes.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So it's not like he had to, like, move a
- 4:48Speaker 2: whole lot to get the ball. He just scooped it
- 4:50Speaker 2: right up. It was right in the general area where
- 4:52Speaker 2: it needed to be.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It was a little bit low.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's okay.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It wouldn't have been a strike, but I'm not a pitcher.
- 4:57Speaker 7: Right.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But Travis was great. He made me feel good. He goes, hey,
- 4:59Speaker 1: for opposite hand, that was great. You did good, though.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That's all I needed to hear.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Right.
- 5:03Speaker 2: 102.9.
- 5:04Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 5:06Speaker 11: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 5:11Speaker 11: Kid in the morning.
- 5:12Speaker 7: Only on the new Mix 102.9. Candace Lopez, what.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Is going on?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Well, investigators are now saying they know what caused the
- 5:19Speaker 2: Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County. Forest Service teams say
- 5:22Speaker 2: it was human caused and originated from equipment or vehicle
- 5:26Speaker 2: use associated with the roadside. So they originally said it
- 5:29Speaker 2: was caused by a blown tire. They haven't been able
- 5:32Speaker 2: to confirm the source of the ignition, but they're saying
- 5:34Speaker 2: because of the location, this made it worse because there
- 5:37Speaker 2: was no shoulder where this tire blew. So there's basically
- 5:40Speaker 2: just grass there, which, of course, started the blaze. That
- 5:44Speaker 2: fire has now burned more than 90,000 acres since last Monday.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's only 38 percent contained at this point. But, yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 2: it's going to be a while before this thing gets
- 5:55Speaker 2: put out.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That's scary. Did you see that when I was leaving
- 5:58Speaker 1: the game yesterday? Obviously, in Arlington, there was a big
- 6:01Speaker 1: fire in Grand Prairie.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I did see that. I don't know what it was
- 6:04Speaker 2: or where.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I guess it was a brush fire. Wow. I don't
- 6:07Speaker 1: know exactly what was going on, but it was not good.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I mean, we're about to hit 50 days with no
- 6:13Speaker 2: rain if we don't see any today.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. Well, we might see some today, they're saying.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a chance. Southeastern counties... have the better chance.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think there is some pretty significant rain out there,
- 6:24Speaker 2: but if you're west of DFW, you're probably not getting anything. Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 2: I know.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So we'll see. It's not supposed to hit 90 today, though.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It's supposed to be a little bit cooler.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see. I hope so. Guys, Gas Buddy says
- 6:35Speaker 2: Labor Day weekend could be the most expensive ever at
- 6:38Speaker 2: the gas pump. The national average projected to hit $ 4. 03
- 6:42Speaker 2: a gallon. That's 87 cents higher than last year. I
- 6:47Speaker 2: guess the previous Labor Day record was in 2012. Gas
- 6:51Speaker 2: then was $ 3. 83 a gallon, but they're saying we could
- 6:54Speaker 2: get some relief later this month as demand drops and
- 6:57Speaker 2: cheaper winter gas comes back. But just a heads up.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Well, I was going to mention this later on, and
- 7:03Speaker 1: I still am, but I'm going to get into it.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Getting gas yesterday when I left the game about to
- 7:07Speaker 1: run out.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I stop and get gas and almost get into a
- 7:11Speaker 1: fight with a guy at the gas station. Oh, this
- 7:14Speaker 1: is only my I'm going to talk about it at
- 7:16Speaker 1: 650 because I couldn't believe it. But literally, it's some
- 7:21Speaker 1: random gas station leaving the Rangers game. With one hand,
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm like, if I have to, oh, I was so mad.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'll tell you at 6.50 what happens.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Real quick, guys. Rumors are stirring back up about Miley
- 7:33Speaker 2: possibly being the Super Bowl halftime performer. Of course, after
- 7:36Speaker 2: her rebrand and big album announcement this week, the NFL
- 7:40Speaker 2: is set to make this announcement this month. But she
- 7:44Speaker 2: reportedly turned down an invitation to headline Coachella next year.
- 7:49Speaker 2: So we'll see if that comes. But by the way,
- 7:51Speaker 2: Billy Ray Cyrus also addressing Miley dropping her last name online.
- 7:56Speaker 2: He made a big post about it saying, I always
- 7:58Speaker 2: called my little girl Miley, just Miley. I told her
- 8:01Speaker 2: I felt good about her going with her first name.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And then he goes on to mention, you know, Dolly
- 8:06Speaker 2: share Elvis Prince. He says this is a natural progression
- 8:09Speaker 2: for an iconic superstar legend. But sources are saying he
- 8:13Speaker 2: secretly feels hurt that you can tell yourself this is
- 8:17Speaker 2: a rebrand. But, you know, it still stings, which I
- 8:19Speaker 2: can imagine.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Did she break his heart?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Oh, his achy, breaky heart. Maybe just a little bit.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I couldn't stop thinking that the whole
- 8:27Speaker 1: time you're doing that story. I like just Miley. That's
- 8:30Speaker 1: what we call her anyway.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, she has that line. She's just being Miley or
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'm just being Miley.
- 8:35Speaker 1: She's just being Miley. You're fine.
- 8:36Speaker 2: No, I think it works. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are
- 8:38Speaker 2: your Texas Top Stories.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Got real or fake news coming up next on Mix 102.9.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Good morning. It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh.
- 8:47Speaker 1: $ 250 gift card to Living Spaces right now for first caller.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Who's this?
- 8:50Speaker 5: This is Daniel Nirmala.
- 8:52Speaker 1: What's up, Daniel? Guess what? You're caller number one. Congratulations.
- 8:56Speaker 9: Oh, man, that's fantastic.
- 8:58Speaker 10: There you go.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Thank you, thank you.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Of course, you're welcome. Where are you from?
- 9:02Speaker 4: Azle, Texas.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Oh, Azle, awesome.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You going to work right now?
- 9:04Speaker 10: I sure am.
- 9:05Speaker 1: What does Daniel do?
- 9:08Speaker 5: I'm an electrician.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Oh, there you go.
- 9:11Speaker 1: How many times have you been electrocuted?
- 9:13Speaker 10: Electrocuted?
- 9:14Speaker 5: Not once, because electrocution is death. I've been shocked many times.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Oh, God. Oh, good. Got to clarify that. So you've
- 9:23Speaker 1: been shocked many times.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Yes, I've been shocked many times.
- 9:28Speaker 1: It does not feel good. I got shocked once. I'm like,
- 9:31Speaker 1: that was really painful. That sucked.
- 9:33Speaker 2: How does that compare to when you're on the carpet
- 9:34Speaker 2: and then you touch someone? Is it the same or no?
- 9:38Speaker 5: It depends on the voltage. Okay, that's the only way
- 9:42Speaker 5: I've been shocked. You've got one in there, 277, 480,
- 9:45Speaker 5: 600 volts. It depends.
- 9:47Speaker 1: What if I were to stick a metal fork into
- 9:51Speaker 1: a socket?
- 9:51Speaker 7: What happens? Please don't.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Yeah, depending on the metal, don't use silver.
- 9:56Speaker 10: It will hit you harder.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Oh, really? wow okay who would try that here's.
- 10:01Speaker 5: A fork no no i that's the thing i did
- 10:05Speaker 5: it when i was four years old i took my
- 10:07Speaker 5: mom's uh silver silverware i found that butter knife i
- 10:11Speaker 5: was gonna help her doing spring cleaning And there was
- 10:14Speaker 5: a broken cover plate for one of the plugs, and
- 10:17Speaker 5: I was like, I'm going to go fix this. And
- 10:18Speaker 5: as I'm trying to unscrew it with this silver butter knife,
- 10:21Speaker 5: it slipped, went into the socket. And my mom told me,
- 10:25Speaker 5: she said all she remembers was a light flickering and
- 10:28Speaker 5: a thud. That was flying across the room.
- 10:31Speaker 10: No!
- 10:32Speaker 8: Wow.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and now you're an electrician.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Exactly. Well, good for you, Daniel. Well, thank you for
- 10:39Speaker 1: what you do, man. Electricians, carpenters, everybody, you're so important
- 10:43Speaker 1: to us. So we thank you for what you do,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and you stay right there so we can hook you up, okay?
- 10:47Speaker 6: Awesome.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oh, man. Yeah, I did that when I was a kid.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I accidentally touched the socket, you know, and I just
- 10:53Speaker 1: remember I couldn't get my hand off of it.
- 10:54Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 6: What?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that explains a lot of my mental issues. All right,
- 10:59Speaker 1: real or fake news, I'm going to give you three headlines.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You're going to tell me which one is fake, and
- 11:02Speaker 1: sometimes the news is crazy. It's hard to tell. Headline
- 11:04Speaker 1: number one, are you ready?
- 11:05Speaker 7: Dot.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Man arrested for skinny dipping, dot, dot, dot, in a
- 11:10Speaker 1: stranger's pool.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Oh.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Then bites cops.
- 11:14Speaker 7: What?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Man arrested for skinny dipping, dot, dot, dot, in stranger's pool,
- 11:20Speaker 1: then bites cops.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:22Speaker 1: All right, so headline number two. Dyson launches a $ 500 toothbrush.
- 11:28Speaker 1: with an AI-powered camera and Wi-Fi. Dyson launches a $ 500
- 11:34Speaker 1: toothbrush with an AI-powered camera and Wi-Fi. Headline number three,
- 11:39Speaker 1: employee fired for scheduling fake meetings just to eat lunch alone.
- 11:45Speaker 1: employee fired for scheduling fake meetings just to eat lunch alone.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Don't want to talk to nobody. You have three headlines
- 11:54Speaker 1: right there. You got to tell me which one do
- 11:56Speaker 1: you think is the fake headline out of the three?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Candace Lopez, you want to go first? You want to
- 11:59Speaker 1: pass it to LaPoopoo?
- 12:01Speaker 2: I'm going to pass it to LaPoopoo today.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Okay, LaPoopoo, which one is fake?
- 12:05Speaker 8: I'm going to go with the last story, scheduling fake meetings.
- 12:09Speaker 7: Oh, really?
- 12:10Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Lock me in.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I feel like that is something I know I might do.
- 12:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Just to have some alone time.
- 12:15Speaker 2: It's really smart.
- 12:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 12:17Speaker 7: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Sorry I'm busy. Because there's some people just always, you know,
- 12:20Speaker 1: when you have like a regular job, you have the
- 12:22Speaker 1: pressure of eating lunch with people. At least I did
- 12:24Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, no, that's true. And now people can see if
- 12:26Speaker 2: your calendar's blocked off, I guess.
- 12:28Speaker 7: Right.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So you just block it off.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah, smart.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, you're locked in. Now, Candace Lopez, which
- 12:33Speaker 1: one do you think is the fake story?
- 12:36Speaker 2: I like this toothbrush story a lot, but I actually
- 12:38Speaker 2: kind of hope that's real. So lock me in for
- 12:40Speaker 2: the first one, the skinny dipper biting the cops.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Now that sounds real. That sounds like something that just
- 12:46Speaker 1: happened in Mesquite yesterday. All right, let's lock that in.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And the winner today is Producer Pooh. Okay, there you go.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Producer Pooh with the dub. All right, that means that
- 13:03Speaker 1: is the fake story. The employee didn't get fired for
- 13:06Speaker 1: scheduling fake meetings. That was just something, you know, something
- 13:09Speaker 1: I thought of because, wow, that'd be nice. Schedule fake
- 13:12Speaker 1: meetings so you look busy so other people can't schedule
- 13:15Speaker 1: meetings because meetings are the worst thing ever.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but I just hate meetings.
- 13:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Unless my boss is listening, then I love meetings. Especially
- 13:22Speaker 1: with you. They're great.
- 13:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: All my bosses.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Super short.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Let's get into the story about this man arrested for
- 13:28Speaker 1: skinny dipping. In a stranger's pool, then he bites cops.
- 13:31Speaker 4: What?
- 13:31Speaker 1: I'll give you one guess on where this happened.
- 13:33Speaker 7: Florida.
- 13:34Speaker 1: You can't make this up. I mean, Florida is... I
- 13:37Speaker 1: love Florida.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yeah, same.
- 13:39Speaker 1: But every other story we get that is just... If
- 13:42Speaker 1: it's the heat that gets to them, if it's just
- 13:43Speaker 1: they're bored, if it's... I don't know. 24-year-old man in
- 13:47Speaker 1: the Florida Keys facing charges after deputies say they found
- 13:49Speaker 1: him naked in a private swimming pool in Marathon. Authorities
- 13:54Speaker 1: say Roshan Rock Jean... You see, lock him up.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Roshan Rock.
- 14:00Speaker 1: If you got a name like that, you just should
- 14:02Speaker 1: immediately be locked up because I just know nothing good
- 14:05Speaker 1: is happening with you. Roshan Rock Gene?
- 14:08Speaker 3: Just sounds bad.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that sounds, I don't even know what it sounds like.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It just sounds like trouble. Either way, he was reported
- 14:14Speaker 1: walking naked in public. Then deputies go to look for
- 14:17Speaker 1: him and they can't find him. So they're like, I
- 14:18Speaker 1: don't know, you know, because... You got a report of
- 14:20Speaker 1: a naked man just walking around your neighborhood. You're going
- 14:22Speaker 1: to call the police.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Surely we'll see him.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Surely we're going to find him.
- 14:26Speaker 7: Somewhere.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Well, they couldn't find him. Then somebody calls and they're like,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think this guy's in my backyard.
- 14:31Speaker 7: No.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Because somebody's skinny dipping in my pool. So they go
- 14:35Speaker 1: back there and there he is. He's having the time
- 14:37Speaker 1: of his life. It's warm out. He's taking a little dip.
- 14:39Speaker 1: A little chunky dunk. A little chunky dunk-a-rooski.
- 14:43Speaker 7: Oh, boy.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Either way, cops, you got to get out. But this
- 14:47Speaker 1: is a good question. Police officers out there, we respect you.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Thank you for what you do. Back the blue.
- 14:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 1: What do you do when somebody's in a pool and
- 14:54Speaker 1: you need to get them out?
- 14:56Speaker 3: And they're naked.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And they're naked.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Cops don't have an easy job.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Somebody's got to wrestle them out.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Well, that's what I was going to ask you, Candace.
- 15:02Speaker 1: What do you do when that happens?
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to wrestle them out. He's not coming out.
- 15:06Speaker 1: But you can't. You have your camera. You have your gun.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You have all your uniform on your radio. Do you
- 15:11Speaker 1: get naked with him?
- 15:12Speaker 2: I think you get in the pool, handcuff him and
- 15:14Speaker 2: then wrestle him out.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So your your method is and I need an officer
- 15:18Speaker 1: to figure out what we do. Candace Lopez method is
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm going to go and just jump in with my gun.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 7: Okay.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I'm going to handcuff him while he's in the pool.
- 15:27Speaker 7: How?
- 15:27Speaker 1: But you've got to jump in. Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Well, you've got to jump in. If he's not coming out.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Okay, so you're jumping in with all your uniform, your radio.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You're ruining everything.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. It's fine. We'll get more.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Okay, yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: There's a whole.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Closet full of that stuff, I'm sure.
- 15:40Speaker 1: It's just taxpayer dollars.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it is what it is.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Not my money. So then you go in there. Your
- 15:46Speaker 1: gun's ruined.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, who cares? I don't need it.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Let's just stop for a minute and thank God you
- 15:53Speaker 1: do what you do. Either way, they got him out.
- 15:59Speaker 1: They lured him out without jumping in. Once he gets out, though,
- 16:02Speaker 1: he's not happy, and he ends up biting two cops.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So he bit two cops, he's in jail, and he's
- 16:08Speaker 1: not getting out anytime soon because you can't bite cops.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's frowned upon.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Trust me.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yeah, especially not naked.
- 16:15Speaker 1: The Dyson story is real, so Candace, I know you're happy. Yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 1: Dyson launched a $ 500 toothbrush with an AI-powered camera and Wi-Fi.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Wi-Fi?
- 16:24Speaker 1: So this thing, you can actually brush your teeth and
- 16:27Speaker 1: then look on your phone, and it's going to show
- 16:29Speaker 1: you in the camera where it's going in your mouth.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Wow.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so you have to use a special toothpaste. This
- 16:34Speaker 1: is a whole investment.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 16:37Speaker 1: But do you really want that view? You know what
- 16:39Speaker 1: I mean?
- 16:39Speaker 7: I mean.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And then the toothbrush detects where you have plaque and
- 16:44Speaker 1: then attacks that area with a water pick and a sprayer.
- 16:46Speaker 2: That's so smart.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Shh, shh, shh.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 1: It gets in there.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I don't know if it's healthy to have a Wi-Fi
- 16:52Speaker 2: device all up in your mouth.
- 16:53Speaker 1: See, that's my question. Everything we own eventually is just
- 16:56Speaker 1: going to be connected to Wi-Fi. Yeah. And then it
- 16:58Speaker 1: also reminds me of this story, too. Did you see,
- 17:00Speaker 1: speaking of AI and AI-powered things, the robot, one of
- 17:04Speaker 1: these stupid AI robots, he's at a store, whatever, they're
- 17:08Speaker 1: showing him off. A customer pushes the robot, tries to
- 17:11Speaker 1: push him over. The robot starts swinging.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that. It was like going back and
- 17:16Speaker 2: forth like a boxer.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Starts to try to fight the customer. Like, come at me, bro.
- 17:23Speaker 1: You can't just push me down.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Unplug that thing. Take its battery out.
- 17:26Speaker 3: You said unplug it.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Then there's two guys wrestling with one of the robots.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm like, see, this is how it all starts. This
- 17:32Speaker 1: is how it all starts. It's just going to happen
- 17:35Speaker 1: to where now I'm fighting a robot with an AI toothbrush.
- 17:40Speaker 1: It's 102.9. It's Bailey the Kid. Candace Lopez is here.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Producer Poo is here. Yesterday was such a fun day.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I got to throw out the first pitch at the
- 17:47Speaker 1: Rangers game, which the Rangers, thank you for letting me
- 17:50Speaker 1: do that. It was so much fun. Thank you to
- 17:52Speaker 1: Tyler and everybody over there. It was kind of like
- 17:54Speaker 1: a little dream come true and the pitch wasn't that bad.
- 17:56Speaker 2: It was good. Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Congrats. Doing it opposite handed. So, I mean, yeah, we
- 18:01Speaker 1: kind of, it was low, but you know, Travis didn't
- 18:05Speaker 1: have to do it. Like he didn't have to get
- 18:06Speaker 1: up and he didn't have to move around. He just
- 18:09Speaker 1: scooped it up, and he was like, even he told me,
- 18:11Speaker 1: he was like, hey, not bad at all. And we
- 18:13Speaker 1: got to meet Ralph Barbosa, who's a comedian. He's from here.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Went to North Mesquite.
- 18:17Speaker 2: He did?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Oh, how did I not know that?
- 18:19Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I thought, how do you not know your skeet skeets?
- 18:23Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, they were our rival, the Stallions.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I know.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 18:26Speaker 1: That's why I'm surprised you guys didn't fight. At the ballpark.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Oh, right.
- 18:31Speaker 1: But no, it was a great time. So I'm leaving.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So I leave yesterday. And as I'm leaving, I'm like, oh,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I got to get gas, of course. You know, because
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'm the worst at this.
- 18:38Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So I'm getting all the way. But I'm like, oh,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I got a little more than I thought. So I
- 18:42Speaker 1: get all the way back up to, I think it
- 18:44Speaker 1: was Irving, like right off George Bush and I think Royal. Okay.
- 18:47Speaker 1: That area. There's like a big gas station that's almost
- 18:50Speaker 1: like a travel center gas station. It's huge. Matter of fact,
- 18:53Speaker 1: I think they were one of the gas stations that
- 18:54Speaker 1: were getting sued by Buc-ee's.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Oh, were they?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Because they had like a weird. Groundhog thing. Anyway, they
- 19:00Speaker 1: changed the whole thing, so it's called something else. The
- 19:02Speaker 1: point is, I go get gas, and I do this
- 19:05Speaker 1: all the time. I always get gas, let it pump,
- 19:09Speaker 1: and I go inside, go to the restroom, whatever. Okay.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I don't think you're supposed to do that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 19:15Speaker 1: You don't do that?
- 19:16Speaker 2: No.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Of course Candace doesn't. Poo, you do that.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Oh, I've been guilty of doing that, but I don't
- 19:21Speaker 3: do it no more.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You don't? Uh-uh.
- 19:24Speaker 7: Why?
- 19:24Speaker 10: Why?
- 19:25Speaker 8: Because I went inside one time, and I wasn't even
- 19:28Speaker 8: using the restroom. I was getting something to drink, and
- 19:30Speaker 8: I looked over, and there was a dude about to grab.
- 19:33Speaker 1: My— Hold on.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Well, this is what happened to me.
- 19:38Speaker 7: Really?
- 19:39Speaker 1: So this is why I got into it with some guy,
- 19:42Speaker 1: because I I did tap to pay on the gas
- 19:46Speaker 1: pump on my phone, which I didn't even know you
- 19:49Speaker 1: could listen. I'm old school. I used to use like
- 19:52Speaker 1: a card for everything.
- 19:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I've never tapped to pay at the gas station.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you could do it. It's easy. So I tapped
- 19:56Speaker 1: to pay and then I start pumping. I put it
- 20:00Speaker 1: in there, whatever, lock the car and I go up
- 20:03Speaker 1: because I'm need something to drink and go to the
- 20:04Speaker 1: bathroom real quick. And then I'm halfway like in the store.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I go, you know what? What if they don't do
- 20:10Speaker 1: tap to pay in here? Let me just go get
- 20:12Speaker 1: my wallet just in case because some places do it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Some places don't.
- 20:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I don't want to be that guy. As I turn
- 20:16Speaker 1: around and go, I'm going to go get it. I
- 20:19Speaker 1: look at the pump and there's a guy at the pump.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Your pump?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:23Speaker 2: What?
- 20:23Speaker 1: My pump. Doing what? About to grab the pump. Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Okay, that's always been my fear because I'm like, someone's
- 20:32Speaker 2: going to take it out of my car and put
- 20:33Speaker 2: it in their car.
- 20:34Speaker 1: That's what he was about to do. No. You caught him?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I caught him.
- 20:38Speaker 6: What?
- 20:38Speaker 1: So I go up there and I'm like, hey, what
- 20:41Speaker 1: are you doing? He's right next to my car and
- 20:43Speaker 1: he's about to grab the pump. Yeah. And he's looking around.
- 20:48Speaker 1: He's acting all shady. And I was like, hey, what's up?
- 20:51Speaker 1: You good? And he goes, huh? Yeah. Well, I was
- 20:54Speaker 1: going to put it up for you. I go, well,
- 20:57Speaker 1: that's weird because there's not even 20 bucks in it yet.
- 21:00Speaker 3: It's not full.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So don't touch it. And as I was doing that,
- 21:04Speaker 1: he's like, oh, no, it's all good. I'm like, why
- 21:06Speaker 1: is your car so close to mine? Back up.
- 21:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 1: He had his car backed up in the pump. So
- 21:13Speaker 1: this is a thing.
- 21:14Speaker 7: Wow.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And as I was talking about it and me and
- 21:17Speaker 1: this guy were talking, one of the employees comes out
- 21:20Speaker 1: and looks like, hey, I don't know, like he's kind
- 21:23Speaker 1: of keeping an eye on the situation. And I go, no,
- 21:26Speaker 1: I'm good. And then I knew exactly what was going on.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I'm like, no, you can get in your car and go.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And then he's like, well, do you have any gas money?
- 21:32Speaker 1: I'm like, no, no, I don't. I don't have any gas.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I almost got scammed. Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 2: That's why I've never done that. Cause I thought I'm
- 21:41Speaker 2: crazy for thinking that someone might do this, but how
- 21:44Speaker 2: do I know?
- 21:44Speaker 1: And it's weird because I'm such a paranoid person. I
- 21:46Speaker 1: thought to myself, like I should have known better.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And then I was so angry at this guy and
- 21:51Speaker 1: I was just like, you know what? Let it go. Whatever.
- 21:53Speaker 1: There's nothing you could do. Yeah. Yeah. Heads up. Don't
- 21:56Speaker 1: do that. And people have always told me, oh, there's
- 21:59Speaker 1: a chance that could happen. I'm like, yeah, right.
- 22:01Speaker 7: Right.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Is there room? Do they even go that far? That's
- 22:04Speaker 2: always been my question.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Then I realized he was in like a smaller car
- 22:07Speaker 1: and he had backed it up to where the gas...
- 22:09Speaker 1: His gas hole?
- 22:10Speaker 7: Right.
- 22:11Speaker 1: That sounded... No, wait.
- 22:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You know what? You get it. Never mind.
- 22:17Speaker 2: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 22:20Speaker 2: Kid in the Morning.
- 22:21Speaker 7: Only on the new Mix 102.9. Not a chance.
- 22:24Speaker 1: To win Usher and Chris Brown. Tickets next. Candice Lopez,
- 22:27Speaker 1: what is going on?
- 22:27Speaker 2: Well, another day, another food recall, guys. Horizon Organic Dairy
- 22:31Speaker 2: is recalling over 53,000 cases of chocolate milk. This is
- 22:36Speaker 2: because of potential spoilage from a packaging issue, though. So
- 22:40Speaker 2: this recall affects products with specific Best Buy dates in 2027.
- 22:45Speaker 2: So these are those shelf-stable cartons. So it has nothing
- 22:48Speaker 2: to do with contamination or allergens. I guess this is
- 22:51Speaker 2: an issue with the seal that causes the milk to
- 22:54Speaker 2: kind of bloat up, and then, you know, it spoils faster.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody wants bloated milk.
- 22:59Speaker 6: No.
- 23:00Speaker 2: You can't get a refund, though, if you have these.
- 23:02Speaker 2: You just have to contact Horizon. But, yeah, I see
- 23:04Speaker 2: those little boxes of chocolate milk everywhere.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Yeah, kids love those.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Oh, God, chocolate milk. When I was a kid, I
- 23:10Speaker 1: think I drank so much chocolate milk. I haven't had
- 23:12Speaker 1: chocolate milk in years.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Years.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Years. Yeah, and for the longest time I thought it
- 23:16Speaker 1: only came from brown cows.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Well, it got really popular recently because in the fitness world,
- 23:23Speaker 2: they were saying, like, this is the best recovery drink
- 23:25Speaker 2: you can have is chocolate milk.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 23:27Speaker 7: Yeah. Okay.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but just a heads up, guys. The city of
- 23:31Speaker 2: Dallas has voted to keep their $ 1. 5 million flock camera program.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Dallas police are already cutting 321 flock cameras because they
- 23:40Speaker 2: are state-funded, and that program is now on hold. But
- 23:44Speaker 2: there still will be 300 flock cameras that are active.
- 23:47Speaker 2: In the city of Dallas, only three city council members
- 23:50Speaker 2: voted to cancel this contract. But one of the members
- 23:53Speaker 2: who was talking about the issues with them was bringing
- 23:55Speaker 2: up the point that Flock's own chief legal officer has
- 23:59Speaker 2: publicly admitted that officers tracking exes is the single most
- 24:03Speaker 2: common form of abuse with these cameras.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Dallas police say, you know, these cameras run 13000 searches
- 24:10Speaker 2: a week, but only between 2100 unique license plates.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It just feels weird.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it does feel weird.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I don't know why. I just I mean, I know
- 24:19Speaker 1: there's cameras everywhere. We're going to get watched. I feel
- 24:21Speaker 1: like it's just it's too late. Yeah, it's too late
- 24:23Speaker 1: to bring it back and scale it back. But there's
- 24:26Speaker 1: something about the flock cameras. It just feels very invasive.
- 24:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 1: And I'm not sure why. Like there's cameras in the tollway.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I get it. Like, yeah, you know. But traffic cameras
- 24:36Speaker 1: feel different when these are like outside of a neighborhood.
- 24:39Speaker 1: You're just like, why?
- 24:40Speaker 7: Right. Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 2: If you want to see the roadways or whatever, it
- 24:42Speaker 2: seems to make sense. I mean, I guess they are
- 24:44Speaker 2: solving cases with these cameras. They say the database is
- 24:48Speaker 2: only good for a calendar year. But interesting there to
- 24:51Speaker 2: see that. But just stop abusing them.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Wait till somebody hacks it. And then all of a sudden,
- 24:56Speaker 1: you know, their watch. It just never ends.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Guys, we were talking about the new
- 24:59Speaker 2: cast of Dancing with the Stars yesterday after it got announced.
- 25:02Speaker 7: Well, yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Two of the cast members quickly started getting some backlash online.
- 25:07Speaker 2: So Jenna Dewan is one of them and also Julia Stiles.
- 25:11Speaker 2: They're both causing a stir because people are pointing out
- 25:13Speaker 2: that Jenna is actually a professional dancer.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Right. I thought she was one of the dancers that
- 25:19Speaker 1: was like training with people.
- 25:20Speaker 2: No, she's not one of the pros. She's one of
- 25:22Speaker 2: the cast members.
- 25:24Speaker 1: She's a great, she's a pro dancer.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, she started as backup for Janet Jackson. You know,
- 25:29Speaker 2: we obviously knew her from the Step Up movie, which
- 25:32Speaker 2: is a dance movie. Although she says, you know, she
- 25:35Speaker 2: doesn't know how to ballroom dance. Part of her dance
- 25:37Speaker 2: training is helpful, but this is a different language. And
- 25:41Speaker 2: then her partner on the show is going to be
- 25:42Speaker 2: Val this season. He spoke out to saying it's naive
- 25:45Speaker 2: to think, you know, that this show is just about dance.
- 25:48Speaker 2: It's about the human experience. and how much you're willing
- 25:51Speaker 2: to reveal yourself. But yeah, I mean, she's going to
- 25:54Speaker 2: be an amazing ballroom dancer.
- 25:56Speaker 1: She's going to be just, she's a natural dancer in general.
- 25:58Speaker 1: And Pooh taught, you know, trained with her for years.
- 26:01Speaker 1: But he told us yesterday.
- 26:03Speaker 7: Right.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Julia Stiles, though, people are saying, you know, online that
- 26:07Speaker 2: she went to Juilliard, but she didn't. That was her
- 26:09Speaker 2: character in Save the Last Dance.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Yeah, she did.
- 26:13Speaker 2: She's not a professionally trained dancer.
- 26:15Speaker 1: It's not that serious anyway.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not.
- 26:17Speaker 1: What does it matter?
- 26:17Speaker 2: But I'm looking forward to it because Amber Glenn is
- 26:20Speaker 2: on the show, and she's from here. So, yeah, we'll
- 26:22Speaker 2: keep you posted. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas
- 26:24Speaker 2: Top Stories.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Mix 102.9. Good morning. Bill of the Kid, Candace Lopez,
- 26:30Speaker 1: producer Poo. We got Dirty Little Secret coming up next.
- 26:33Speaker 1: We have the banger we're about to do first. I
- 26:34Speaker 1: got to thank everybody at the Aesthetic Society. It was
- 26:37Speaker 1: so nice. They gave me a birthday gift yesterday.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And thank you to Veronica and everybody over there. It
- 26:42Speaker 1: was so sweet. They're the best. This bath with a
- 26:44Speaker 1: candle and a gift card. And then the best oatmeal
- 26:47Speaker 1: pies I've ever had in my life.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Dude, thanks for sharing.
- 26:51Speaker 7: Oh, my.
- 26:52Speaker 1: They were from the Rising Hope Bakery.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Okay. I think over in Southlake.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Shout out to them, too. Oh, my. And by
- 26:59Speaker 1: the way, hold on. Wait a minute. Where are they?
- 27:02Speaker 3: They're in there.
- 27:03Speaker 2: They're in the other room.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Oh, they are?
- 27:06Speaker 2: Pooh. I thought they were.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Why did you take them?
- 27:08Speaker 2: The box is in there.
- 27:10Speaker 3: You took them?
- 27:11Speaker 8: I just set them in there. I didn't know if
- 27:13Speaker 8: you wanted them, you know, because you said you.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Were on your diet journey.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So I was like, I.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Had one little piece and I'm like, I'm going to
- 27:20Speaker 1: enjoy a little piece today. And then I couldn't find them.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I wanted some of my coffee.
- 27:24Speaker 7: Oh, okay.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And then I couldn't find them. And I'm like, where'd
- 27:27Speaker 1: they go? And I should have known. I should have
- 27:28Speaker 1: went to Big Back Headquarters.
- 27:32Speaker 3: You were like, yesterday you kept saying, get them away
- 27:35Speaker 3: from me.
- 27:35Speaker 1: No, I did not.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I said, I didn't want to eat them all. So
- 27:38Speaker 3: I was just like, you know what? Let me help
- 27:39Speaker 3: them out.
- 27:39Speaker 1: How many are left?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Huh?
- 27:41Speaker 1: Oh, there's two.
- 27:42Speaker 7: Two?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Out of the six?
- 27:45Speaker 3: Okay, well, hold on. I know y'all had a piece
- 27:48Speaker 3: of something yesterday.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I had a piece, like a nibble.
- 27:51Speaker 3: We didn't have one. I mean, I had two yesterday.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I ain't gonna lie.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Okay, you know I ain't gonna lie.
- 27:57Speaker 1: They weren't your gift. Should I take him to Candace Court?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Okay, thank you. Bring him back in here. Good Lord.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I'm not even going to get my own oatmeal muffins
- 28:08Speaker 1: or whatever they were. They were so good.
- 28:10Speaker 2: They are.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I want to mention this real quick because are we
- 28:13Speaker 1: getting too crazy when it comes to our kids? I
- 28:15Speaker 1: love our teachers more than anything, but did you see
- 28:17Speaker 1: what this teacher is going viral for?
- 28:18Speaker 2: Which one?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Well, this teacher has gone viral in Houston for making a,
- 28:22Speaker 1: are you ready for this? She's created something special for
- 28:25Speaker 1: the kids so they have a safe place to do this.
- 28:29Speaker 3: A fart corner.
- 28:31Speaker 7: Oh!
- 28:32Speaker 2: I did hear about this.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Did you see this?
- 28:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 1: They have created a fart corner. And I don't usually
- 28:38Speaker 1: talk about stuff like this because it's kind of gross.
- 28:40Speaker 9: Right.
- 28:40Speaker 1: But this is so ridiculous. It's a designated place that
- 28:43Speaker 1: everyone knows they can go to.
- 28:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And she said on TikTok, which has millions of views,
- 28:49Speaker 1: that way they know they can just come over there,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you take about 10 seconds, and then you spray, and
- 28:53Speaker 1: then you just go sit back down. That way you
- 28:56Speaker 1: can do it at your discretion when you want to
- 28:58Speaker 1: in your own place, and it's where the library books are,
- 29:01Speaker 1: so nobody will know that you're doing it.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Oh.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Well, you've created another problem, teacher, because now if you
- 29:05Speaker 1: go to that corner, everybody knows exactly what you're doing.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but they also know when the spray comes, right?
- 29:11Speaker 1: She's like, you just do it in your little way,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and then you just go toot and sit down.
- 29:14Speaker 7: What?
- 29:15Speaker 1: And I'm like, are we really doing this now? We're
- 29:17Speaker 1: creating a safe place.
- 29:18Speaker 2: That's hilarious.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Just do it. When we used to do it, we
- 29:21Speaker 1: just did it.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't remember back in the day that
- 29:23Speaker 2: happening at school.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Oh, I don't. I mean, I don't either. I remember.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I definitely didn't get detention for doing it.
- 29:31Speaker 7: What?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I might have.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Oh, Billy.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Okay, not a proud moment, but either way.
- 29:37Speaker 2: It's because you didn't have a fart corner.
- 29:38Speaker 7: I did. I know.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I should have. had one.
- 29:40Speaker 2: You were the fart corner.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Either way, she got such a huge response that she
- 29:47Speaker 1: was shocked by it, so she went back online and said...
- 29:50Speaker 1: She posted, she goes, I'm just trying to make it
- 29:52Speaker 1: less embarrassing and give kids space, but let's not make
- 29:55Speaker 1: a mistake. They could still toot in their own seats
- 29:57Speaker 1: if they want to.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Oh, thank you.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: We appreciate that.
- 30:01Speaker 7: Good to know.
- 30:01Speaker 1: So maybe we should do that at work.
- 30:03Speaker 7: No.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Go outside the room, please.
- 30:05Speaker 1: We'll make it Pooh's Corner.
- 30:06Speaker 7: Get it off your chest. We promise you'll feel better.
- 30:11Speaker 7: Welcome to Dirty Little Secret.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yes, it is time to confess. I'm Mix 102.9, AbilityKid.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Candice Lopez is here. Producer Poo is here. Thank you
- 30:19Speaker 1: to Mint Dentistry, our new partner with Dirty Little Secret.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Thank you so much for that. We love that you
- 30:24Speaker 1: came on board and you're on our team now. Now
- 30:27Speaker 1: we're only going to go to you. That's all comes
- 30:30Speaker 1: down to it, right? All right. If you have a confession,
- 30:32Speaker 1: you let us know anytime you want. Now, this guy,
- 30:34Speaker 1: this guy just moved here. So I'm like excited because
- 30:37Speaker 1: he just started listening to the show. Now he wants
- 30:38Speaker 1: to confess. And I love this. So go ahead. Bring
- 30:41Speaker 1: it on.
- 30:42Speaker 10: Yeah. Don't hate me, but I got a confession that
- 30:44Speaker 10: makes you sound like one of those insane baseball parents.
- 30:48Speaker 1: OK.
- 30:49Speaker 10: I got I basically accepted a bribe to get my
- 30:52Speaker 10: son on a certain team.
- 30:54Speaker 7: Oh. Whoa.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Okay. You accepted a bribe to get him on a team.
- 30:59Speaker 7: Why?
- 30:59Speaker 1: How did this go down? All right.
- 31:01Speaker 10: I don't want to give too many details because people
- 31:04Speaker 10: around here would probably figure out exactly who I'm talking about.
- 31:07Speaker 10: But where we live, baseball is ridiculously competitive. You know,
- 31:12Speaker 10: it's all about who you know. And these kids aren't
- 31:15Speaker 10: even in high school yet. And, you know, they're talking
- 31:17Speaker 10: about colleges, scholarships, you know, and then certain kids, you know,
- 31:21Speaker 10: moving on to, like, you know, MLB, you know, and
- 31:26Speaker 10: my son's really good, really good. He's, he's, he's naturally gifted.
- 31:29Speaker 6: Good.
- 31:30Speaker 7: Nice.
- 31:30Speaker 10: And I love, he loves baseball. And so he eventually
- 31:34Speaker 10: coaches from some pretty high level premier travel team started
- 31:38Speaker 10: calling me and basically recruiting him. Right.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Wow.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Travel teams that, you know, I mean, but I believe
- 31:45Speaker 1: it because I know my son, he stopped playing baseball,
- 31:47Speaker 1: but it's the same with football's even worse around here. Oh,
- 31:50Speaker 1: it gets crazy.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Cause we're deep in the baseball and hearing about all
- 31:53Speaker 2: the drama.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Oh, it starts. The drama starts. You got to get
- 31:56Speaker 1: on certain teams to get good looks. They started talking
- 31:58Speaker 1: about high school coat. It's it's wild. So Coaches start
- 32:02Speaker 1: calling you, which is good for you. I mean, if
- 32:05Speaker 1: your kid's great and he loves it. Yeah.
- 32:07Speaker 10: There was this one particular high profile team my son
- 32:10Speaker 10: really wanted to go for. And the coach reached out
- 32:13Speaker 10: to me and we had some conversations. And it turns
- 32:15Speaker 10: out we both work in the same industry. And that's
- 32:19Speaker 10: when things got weird. Because doing one of the conversations,
- 32:22Speaker 10: he basically told me, hey, if your son plays for
- 32:25Speaker 10: my team, I can guarantee you a position at my company.
- 32:28Speaker 7: Oh.
- 32:31Speaker 1: So he, he guaranteed you a position. So your kid
- 32:36Speaker 1: plays for my team. Then dad will get a job.
- 32:39Speaker 1: You'll get a job with his company.
- 32:42Speaker 10: Right.
- 32:42Speaker 7: Right.
- 32:42Speaker 10: I thought it was a joke at first.
- 32:44Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying?
- 32:44Speaker 10: Like, We're talking about kids playing baseball here.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Okay. I'd be like, are you serious?
- 32:50Speaker 1: I wouldn't even expect that. So no, in.
- 32:53Speaker 10: My defense, this was probably the team we're going to choose. Anyway,
- 32:56Speaker 10: my son wanted to go play there and it's a
- 32:58Speaker 10: great opportunity for him. So we picked a team.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 33:01Speaker 10: We picked a team and the coach was a man
- 33:03Speaker 10: of his word. Like, Soon after, I got a position
- 33:06Speaker 10: at his company, basically doubled my salary.
- 33:09Speaker 1: So you're working for him now. So you're working with
- 33:13Speaker 1: the coach, his company, and he was legit. It was
- 33:17Speaker 1: a legit offer.
- 33:18Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Is this legal?
- 33:21Speaker 1: It feels illegal.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I mean, they do this all the time.
- 33:23Speaker 8: My 14-year-old son, his friend, his dad got a job,
- 33:28Speaker 8: a brand new job in Chicago.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Melissa, Texas. And they moved out there.
- 33:32Speaker 1: He's real good in football. Oh, okay. Well, that was
- 33:34Speaker 1: to move. Okay. Now, I've heard of that happening before. Like, hey,
- 33:37Speaker 1: we want you to play for our school. Right. So
- 33:39Speaker 1: move schools. But you'd need a reason to move out here. Yeah, exactly.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Like travel baseball?
- 33:44Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:44Speaker 1: It gets serious early. Wow. Wow. Okay. You're committed to this.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And now, what if something happens with the baseball team?
- 33:53Speaker 7: Right.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Your son doesn't, I mean, I guess you're going to
- 33:56Speaker 1: build a relationship with this guy either way, but I mean,
- 33:58Speaker 1: good for you, I guess, for doubling your salary. I
- 34:00Speaker 1: don't know.
- 34:01Speaker 2: That's hard to pass up.
- 34:02Speaker 10: Listen, man, my son is thrilled. He's playing for a
- 34:04Speaker 10: team he wanted. That's what it's all about. I'm in
- 34:06Speaker 10: a much better position financially and career wise. Everybody wins. Okay.
- 34:10Speaker 10: So the only thing though, is that I haven't told
- 34:14Speaker 10: anyone how it happened and not even my wife. And
- 34:17Speaker 10: she thinks my new job and her son making this
- 34:20Speaker 10: team happen around the same time by complete coincidence. Yeah.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I really, so she, okay. She doesn't know.
- 34:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 10: I mean, I'm sort of pointing to letting this stay
- 34:34Speaker 10: like that.
- 34:36Speaker 7: All right.
- 34:36Speaker 1: That's, it seems like a lot.
- 34:37Speaker 2: I mean, I don't, yeah, that's definitely a conversation we
- 34:39Speaker 2: have together before we agree to it.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Let me ask Candace. Cause you're a baseball mom.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 1: If this happens in, you know, there's a situation where
- 34:47Speaker 1: your son could get on a good team or a
- 34:50Speaker 1: certain team and, Hey, you know, I can get you, Eric,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I can get you a job doing this. If your
- 34:55Speaker 1: son picks our team and it works out good for everyone.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Do you do it?
- 34:59Speaker 2: That's hard to pass up.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Wow.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Both ends.
- 35:02Speaker 1: You know, she can be bought. Candace can be bought.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I mean, these coaches are picking who they want on
- 35:08Speaker 2: their travel teams anyways, right?
- 35:10Speaker 1: They are.
- 35:10Speaker 7: That's true.
- 35:11Speaker 1: They are. I just.
- 35:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I mean, yeah. If he's good enough to play on
- 35:16Speaker 2: the team and that's the team we.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Want to play on. That's fair.
- 35:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:20Speaker 1: If he's not good enough or there's some reverse situation.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Where you're bribing the coach, that feels way different.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:28Speaker 3: But what if something happens to your kid?
- 35:30Speaker 1: Like.
- 35:31Speaker 3: An injury, you get fired from your job.
- 35:34Speaker 1: No.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Everything's baking. So what if something happens to his son?
- 35:38Speaker 2: I mean, how much do you trust this guy?
- 35:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:40Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 35:41Speaker 2: You're fired.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Geez.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Well, I mean, for now, he's making more money.
- 35:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Worry about that when the day comes. Yeah, look at that. Well, sir,
- 35:51Speaker 1: thank you so much, and I appreciate your confession, and
- 35:54Speaker 1: let us know what happens, and hopefully you'll have a
- 35:56Speaker 1: great season.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:57Speaker 2: All right, thank you.
- 35:58Speaker 1: It does feel kind of illegal, though. I don't know why,
- 36:00Speaker 1: but it just does.
- 36:02Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9. All right. It's time for Candice Court.
- 36:10Speaker 5: It gets settled here with Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Get up, stand up, thou shall put your hands up
- 36:16Speaker 1: and rise. for the Honorable Judge Candace Lopez as she
- 36:20Speaker 1: enters the courtroom with her hoodie, her Bucky's blanket, another blanket,
- 36:24Speaker 1: 14 blankets, maybe some sliced apples, maybe some kale. Who
- 36:28Speaker 1: knows what she's got going on over there? She's got apples. Okay.
- 36:31Speaker 1: You also have some justice ready to be served.
- 36:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It's Mix 102.9 Candace Court. Here we go. Now, if
- 36:36Speaker 1: you've got an issue you want Candace to solve, at
- 36:38Speaker 1: Candace on air, at Candace on air on Instagram. I
- 36:42Speaker 1: have issues with my husband's family and I need to
- 36:44Speaker 1: vent about it. That's what this woman says. She says,
- 36:47Speaker 1: Candace Corp, please help me decide if I have a
- 36:49Speaker 1: reason to be upset or not. We had not seen
- 36:53Speaker 1: that side of the family in six months, and in time,
- 36:57Speaker 1: I lost a substantial amount of weight, and I'm healthier
- 37:00Speaker 1: than I've ever been before. The weight loss is absolutely noticeable,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and there isn't a person I've seen losing it that
- 37:08Speaker 1: hasn't noticed and commented. I will point out that my
- 37:12Speaker 1: brother-in-law has always been pretty cocky And this visit was
- 37:16Speaker 1: no different. Oh, just catching strays, the brother-in-law. We had
- 37:21Speaker 1: dinner and visited with them for a few hours. And
- 37:24Speaker 1: not once did anyone mention my weight loss. I'm honestly
- 37:29Speaker 1: over spending time with his family. But it really got
- 37:32Speaker 1: to me that they couldn't even muster up one compliment.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Couldn't muster up one single compliment and even acknowledge my
- 37:41Speaker 1: weight loss once. Am I wrong here? Because me and
- 37:43Speaker 1: my husband are about to get into it because I'm
- 37:45Speaker 1: over his side of the family. Okay, now this is
- 37:48Speaker 1: a very interesting case. Candace Lopez, she's lost a ton
- 37:51Speaker 1: of weight. She's like, hey, I want people to comment.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been six months.
- 37:56Speaker 1: That side of the family is like, nothing to see here.
- 38:01Speaker 7: Ouch.
- 38:02Speaker 1: What do you think about this?
- 38:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, it sounds like y'all have some issues
- 38:06Speaker 2: in the first place. If you're calling him cocky and
- 38:08Speaker 2: you're really upset by this. It makes me wonder, though,
- 38:12Speaker 2: do we typically compliment someone when we know the journey
- 38:16Speaker 2: and the process or do we not? You know what
- 38:19Speaker 2: I mean? Because sometimes I know I have a friend
- 38:21Speaker 2: who was on a GLP one. And she didn't want
- 38:24Speaker 2: anyone mentioning it because she knew she didn't really work
- 38:26Speaker 2: for it. She was kind of like, you know, I
- 38:29Speaker 2: don't work out. I just took this thing and lost
- 38:32Speaker 2: a bunch of weight. Well, I guess it depends on
- 38:34Speaker 2: your situation.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Well, I mean, does it matter how they lost the weight? Yeah.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Whether you should compliment or not?
- 38:39Speaker 2: It depends on who the person is. I typically tell someone,
- 38:42Speaker 2: you're looking good.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was going to say. You need
- 38:45Speaker 3: to compliment.
- 38:45Speaker 2: You look fit.
- 38:46Speaker 7: Why?
- 38:47Speaker 2: I tell people they look fit.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Not me. And this is exactly why. Your friend is
- 38:50Speaker 1: mad because she was on a GLP-1?
- 38:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Yeah. And lost weight, but wants people to notice that
- 38:55Speaker 1: she lost weight, but doesn't want to know how she
- 38:57Speaker 1: lost weight, whatever. This is exactly why I don't say
- 39:00Speaker 1: anything about anybody's body ever. Never going to happen again.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Don't care.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, you would think that's the safer bet
- 39:06Speaker 2: in life.
- 39:06Speaker 1: No, because you can't win. You're running. In 2026, when
- 39:10Speaker 1: you make a comment about anybody's physical appearance, you're making...
- 39:14Speaker 1: You're it's a, it's a risk. It really is because
- 39:16Speaker 1: you might offend somebody. Yeah. I don't care what you
- 39:19Speaker 1: got going on. You might be my family member. You
- 39:21Speaker 1: come to the house that I haven't seen in six
- 39:23Speaker 1: months and you don't have a limb for whatever reason
- 39:25Speaker 1: you're missing an arm. Right. I'm like, can you pass
- 39:28Speaker 1: the mashed potatoes? Oh, you know, to be like, oh, man,
- 39:31Speaker 1: what happened? No, I'm going to be like, there's no comment. No,
- 39:34Speaker 1: I don't see bodies.
- 39:36Speaker 8: No, not in my family. They're going to let you know. Hey,
- 39:38Speaker 8: what happened to your leg? Or what happened to your arm?
- 39:41Speaker 8: They'll do it real quick. Okay, I'm being extreme.
- 39:43Speaker 7: Right.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Obviously, but if it's weight loss.
- 39:44Speaker 2: What happened to your 30 pounds?
- 39:45Speaker 7: Nope.
- 39:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Nope. Yeah. Unless I truly know the person and I
- 39:50Speaker 1: know them and I've known them for years and I
- 39:51Speaker 1: consider them a close, close friend.
- 39:53Speaker 6: Right.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Then I'm not mentioning weight. your image, your body.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I don't mention it.
- 39:58Speaker 2: But I feel like that's why she's upset. She's like,
- 40:00Speaker 2: this is family. It's your family and we haven't seen
- 40:03Speaker 2: them in six months.
- 40:04Speaker 1: We're talking about the in-laws. Yeah. I mean, it's not like,
- 40:07Speaker 1: you know, it's her family. Right. It's his family and
- 40:09Speaker 1: they obviously already have a, you know... And that's probably
- 40:12Speaker 1: why they're not saying anything. I'm actually on their side.
- 40:14Speaker 7: Are you?
- 40:15Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm on their side because they're probably like, hey,
- 40:17Speaker 1: she hates us. If we say anything about our weight,
- 40:19Speaker 1: we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. Because
- 40:21Speaker 1: now if I say, wow, you've lost a bunch of weight. Oh,
- 40:24Speaker 1: so I was fat?
- 40:25Speaker 6: Right.
- 40:26Speaker 3: Yeah, but they could just say, oh, girl, what did
- 40:28Speaker 3: you do?
- 40:28Speaker 1: You look good.
- 40:29Speaker 3: That's it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: No what did you do didn't i look good before
- 40:33Speaker 1: you know what i'm saying.
- 40:34Speaker 2: No you're right you're convincing me how tricky that is
- 40:37Speaker 2: i mean sometimes i'm afraid to talk to people too
- 40:40Speaker 2: because i don't know if someone's been sick or like something's.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Happened exactly see so that's why they've been.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Under stress i think people have fallen into this uh
- 40:48Speaker 2: trap before because i know someone who was going through
- 40:50Speaker 2: a hard time personally and lost a bunch of weight
- 40:53Speaker 2: because they just mentally.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Weren't well right then you're like you look great well
- 40:56Speaker 1: i've been depressed and sick and i.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Have a Yes. That's exactly what happened.
- 41:00Speaker 1: And a disorder. Well, then I'll see myself out. Yeah.
- 41:04Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I've stopped doing it
- 41:07Speaker 1: because one time, even this was years ago, remember I
- 41:09Speaker 1: was like, oh, you look cute today to some girl.
- 41:12Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:13Speaker 1: And I go, you look cute today. You're cute. She's like, cute?
- 41:16Speaker 7: Right.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I'm not cute. Puppies are cute.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I'm hot. I made a whole ordeal about it. I'm like, well,
- 41:22Speaker 1: I thought hot was inappropriate.
- 41:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 1: After that day, I said, you know what? I don't
- 41:25Speaker 1: care what people look like. I'm never mentioning anything again.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Yeah, because, like, I come in like this, you know,
- 41:30Speaker 2: three days a week.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Like what? I don't even see you.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Like, no makeup, a hat, you know, just like getting by.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Oh, you're wearing a hat? I don't even see.
- 41:36Speaker 7: I don't even know this.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't have no makeup on.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh, guys. But then tomorrow, say, I come
- 41:41Speaker 2: in with hair and makeup and, like, heels and whatever. Like,
- 41:44Speaker 2: where are you going? And then it's like, oh, the
- 41:46Speaker 2: same place I always go. I just had time and
- 41:48Speaker 2: energy today.
- 41:49Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Put makeup on and be like, oh, wow, you all
- 41:51Speaker 1: done up.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You got a job interview?
- 41:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Pooh is just walking a risky line, just what
- 41:57Speaker 1: he just said just now.
- 41:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 1: He's like, oh, you don't have makeup on? See, you
- 42:01Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I know what he meant, though.
- 42:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 2: He was saying it looks like you do. You look fine.
- 42:06Speaker 2: That's just.
- 42:06Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah. You don't need makeup.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if that's what he was saying.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Let him dig his own hole.
- 42:11Speaker 7: Oh, no.
- 42:11Speaker 3: He had my back.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Come on.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Candace, we have a verdict.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we do. I think you've convinced me. Look, you're
- 42:18Speaker 2: guilty of being a body image. Becky.
- 42:20Speaker 7: Yes. Yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Think about Lizzo. Like, she took so much heat for
- 42:24Speaker 2: being body positive, and then she lost the weight. Meghan Trainor,
- 42:27Speaker 2: same thing. She was all about that base. Now the
- 42:29Speaker 2: base is gone.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Now she can't win. She can't win. And now people
- 42:32Speaker 1: are like, oh, now you want to lose weight? Right.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Now you're going to lose weight? I thought you were
- 42:36Speaker 1: all about being plus size. Now you want to be skinny?
- 42:39Speaker 1: You can't win in today's society. So I just shut up.
- 42:43Speaker 1: It's all about personality. That's what I start telling people.
- 42:45Speaker 1: You have a great personality. That hits hard right there.
- 42:51Speaker 10: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 42:53Speaker 10: Kid in the Morning.
- 42:54Speaker 7: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Look at these glorious clouds.
- 42:58Speaker 6: Right?
- 42:59Speaker 1: Why am I so excited that it's cloudy outside?
- 43:01Speaker 2: It's a nice break.
- 43:02Speaker 1: It might even rain a little bit. I mean, if
- 43:04Speaker 1: we're lucky, the temp is only going to get up
- 43:07Speaker 1: to like 87, they're saying.
- 43:08Speaker 7: Wow.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Which I still don't believe. I still think it's going
- 43:10Speaker 1: to be 90.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it probably will be.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Candace, what is going on?
- 43:13Speaker 2: Well, investigators are now saying a blown tire caused the
- 43:16Speaker 2: Ross fire in Palo Pinto County. Forest Service teams say
- 43:20Speaker 2: they haven't been able to confirm the source of the ignition,
- 43:23Speaker 2: but they're saying the location made this worse because of
- 43:26Speaker 2: where the tire blew out. So I guess where it was,
- 43:29Speaker 2: there's no shoulder. It's just grass right there. But that
- 43:32Speaker 2: fire has now burned more than 90,000 acres since last Monday.
- 43:36Speaker 2: It's only 38% contained at this point. But glad they
- 43:40Speaker 2: have a source for the most part. But, yeah, I mean,
- 43:43Speaker 2: these things just happen sometimes. What an awful situation out there.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Did you see I was leaving the Rangers game yesterday?
- 43:49Speaker 1: It was a big brush fire in Grand Prairie.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I did see that. I didn't know where it was
- 43:52Speaker 2: coming from or what it was.
- 43:54Speaker 7: I know.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Isn't it annoying when you see a big plume of
- 43:56Speaker 1: smoke and you wonder what's happening? Yeah. Then I start
- 43:59Speaker 1: to Google it.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Yeah, then I go down the Facebook post and it's
- 44:03Speaker 2: just everyone commenting same pictures from different angles.
- 44:06Speaker 1: And no answers. I guess they got under control, but
- 44:08Speaker 1: it's scary. So the rain today, maybe.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I hope so. We're almost going on 50 days without
- 44:13Speaker 2: rain if we don't get it today.
- 44:15Speaker 1: It would help if we got it just for the
- 44:17Speaker 1: safety risk, too.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Well, guys, Gas Buddy says this Labor Day
- 44:21Speaker 2: weekend could be the most expensive ever at the gas pump.
- 44:25Speaker 2: The national average is projected to hit $ 4. 03 a gallon.
- 44:29Speaker 2: That's 87 cents higher than last year. I guess the
- 44:32Speaker 2: previous Labor Day record was back in 2012. Gas then
- 44:34Speaker 2: was $ 3. 83 a gallon. Uh, they are saying we should
- 44:39Speaker 2: get some relief later this month as demand drops and
- 44:42Speaker 2: then cheaper winter gas that comes back. Um, but yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 2: and you were telling us about your story at the
- 44:47Speaker 2: gas station yesterday. I can't believe someone tried to just
- 44:50Speaker 2: take your gas.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Well, I learned my lesson. I was trying to pump
- 44:53Speaker 1: and I left the pump cause I always do that.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And I know it's, I guess it's not the right
- 44:56Speaker 1: thing to do.
- 44:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 1: The pump in pump the gas. I go to the restroom, whatever.
- 45:00Speaker 1: And somebody had backed their car up. This guy backed
- 45:02Speaker 1: his car up and was About to put my hose,
- 45:05Speaker 1: my gas pump in his gas.
- 45:07Speaker 2: So brave.
- 45:08Speaker 1: And I stopped and he said, oh, no, I was
- 45:12Speaker 1: just going to put it up for you. I thought
- 45:13Speaker 1: you were done. I'm obviously not done. It's still filling up.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And I just walked off. Yep. So but that's a
- 45:19Speaker 1: scam you got to watch out for.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Guys, rumors are stirring back up about Miley
- 45:25Speaker 2: possibly being the Super Bowl halftime performer. Of course, these
- 45:29Speaker 2: talks coming after her rebrand and album announcement this week.
- 45:33Speaker 2: But the NFL is set to make the announcement of
- 45:35Speaker 2: the Super Bowl this month. She reportedly also turned down
- 45:39Speaker 2: an invitation to headline Coachella next year. So lots going
- 45:44Speaker 2: on with Miley. By the way, Billy Ray Cyrus did
- 45:47Speaker 2: address her dropping her last name online. He did a
- 45:50Speaker 2: whole post. It was like a throwback picture of him
- 45:53Speaker 2: and Miley. He says, I've always called my little girl Miley,
- 45:56Speaker 2: just Miley. He says, I told her I felt good
- 45:59Speaker 2: about her going with her first name. He mentions Dolly, Cher, Elvis, Prince.
- 46:04Speaker 2: saying this is a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend.
- 46:08Speaker 2: But then there are sources saying, you know, he does
- 46:11Speaker 2: secretly feel hurt by this. Oh, yeah, I'm sure. That
- 46:14Speaker 2: you can tell yourself it's branding, but, you know, it
- 46:15Speaker 2: still stings.
- 46:16Speaker 1: But isn't her real name Destiny?
- 46:18Speaker 2: Actually, I think it might be.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Is Miley her middle name?
- 46:22Speaker 2: You might be right. That sounds familiar. I hadn't thought
- 46:24Speaker 2: about that in a long time. But, yeah, I think
- 46:25Speaker 2: it actually is.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Yeah, she does not look like a Destiny.
- 46:29Speaker 4: No.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Is it Destiny Miley Cyrus? I don't know.
- 46:32Speaker 2: It might be. But yeah. And maybe since Dolly's passing,
- 46:34Speaker 2: maybe that kind of even, you know, had her say, look,
- 46:37Speaker 2: I just want to go by Miley.
- 46:39Speaker 1: That was her godmother, right?
- 46:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:42Speaker 2: And what other Miley's are out there? Are there other
- 46:45Speaker 2: big famous Miley's? I mean, she wouldn't get confused. Like
- 46:47Speaker 2: there's one share.
- 46:49Speaker 1: True. Yeah. But Miley's also a name that people have. Yeah.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Very popular name now. I've never heard of a Dolly.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I've never like met a Dolly.
- 46:56Speaker 7: No.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I've never met any Dolly.
- 46:58Speaker 2: No, actually.
- 46:59Speaker 1: No, I haven't either. Yeah, interesting.
- 47:01Speaker 7: Yeah, right?
- 47:03Speaker 2: I'll keep you posted, though. Hopefully that announcement comes in
- 47:05Speaker 2: a few weeks. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas
- 47:07Speaker 2: Top Stories.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Mix 102.9. Oh, that's a hot take.
- 47:14Speaker 7: Let us know what you think.
- 47:15Speaker 11: Here's today's hot take.
- 47:16Speaker 1: It's Bill of the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. Hot
- 47:19Speaker 1: take of the day is on. Now, this is something
- 47:21Speaker 1: we've talked about before. Who pays on a first date
- 47:25Speaker 1: or any date? Do you split it? I'm old school,
- 47:28Speaker 1: pretty well known that I'll usually go, I pick up
- 47:30Speaker 1: the tab. It is what it is. If she eventually
- 47:33Speaker 1: wants to, then fine. Okay. But typically, no, especially first dates.
- 47:37Speaker 1: And then there's a rule that some people say, hey,
- 47:39Speaker 1: you know what? Whoever asked that person out, they pay.
- 47:42Speaker 1: And because I think as the years go on and
- 47:45Speaker 1: we're in 2026, a lot of people's stance is, hey,
- 47:48Speaker 1: equal rights. We're equal. Everybody's equal. Then we pay equal.
- 47:52Speaker 1: At least I think that's kind of how Pooh feels.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 1: About it um now this girl and we've talked about
- 47:58Speaker 1: it back and forth we've had people call in we've
- 47:59Speaker 1: had people argue well why do you pay why did
- 48:01Speaker 1: this person pay but this woman goes on tiktok and
- 48:04Speaker 1: she starts talking about it why women should never pay
- 48:08Speaker 1: why women should never split the bill 50 50 and
- 48:11Speaker 1: it's interesting what she says and it's went viral listen.
- 48:14Speaker 6: You think equality means splitting the bill. Women live in
- 48:17Speaker 6: a society where equality has never existed in the first place.
- 48:20Speaker 6: Women still only make 80% of what a man makes
- 48:23Speaker 6: for the same full-time job. So when you ask for
- 48:25Speaker 6: a 50-50 date, know that her 50% costs more of
- 48:28Speaker 6: her income than it does yours. Second of all, women
- 48:30Speaker 6: pay more just to exist in the dating world.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Okay, hold on.
- 48:34Speaker 2: She's not wrong.
- 48:34Speaker 1: That was interesting. What she just said to me, what
- 48:37Speaker 1: she just said was.
- 48:38Speaker 2: It's a generic statement, but she's not wrong.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I don't think so either. She said basically, so we
- 48:43Speaker 1: don't get paid the same. We never have, even if
- 48:45Speaker 1: we're doing the same job.
- 48:46Speaker 7: Right.
- 48:46Speaker 1: So your money goes... A lot further. Further than my money.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:51Speaker 1: So your 50% is... Our 50% aren't even 50%. Right.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Right out of the gate. Then she's getting into right now,
- 48:58Speaker 1: and it costs us more to even exist... On this planet.
- 49:03Speaker 6: $ 400 a month just on grooming and beauty. And that's
- 49:05Speaker 6: not because they want to spend more. It's because they're
- 49:07Speaker 6: held to the beauty standards that men built and judged
- 49:10Speaker 6: them by.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Okay, hold on. She's not wrong either.
- 49:13Speaker 1: You don't think she's wrong on that?
- 49:15Speaker 7: No.
- 49:16Speaker 2: She's right. Absolutely. What is the beauty standard in America?
- 49:19Speaker 6: Right.
- 49:20Speaker 1: No, it's high.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Yeah, very high.
- 49:21Speaker 1: It's very high. And what she's saying is we spend
- 49:23Speaker 1: $ 400 a month just to take care of ourselves to
- 49:27Speaker 1: basically live up to the standards that you as a
- 49:30Speaker 1: man have created.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's up to women. Do you want to live
- 49:33Speaker 2: up to that standard or not? But we all know
- 49:35Speaker 2: a woman who lives up to the standard and one
- 49:38Speaker 2: who doesn't get judged completely differently.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I agree. I can't say you're wrong. I'm not saying
- 49:44Speaker 1: it's right.
- 49:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:46Speaker 1: But I'm saying I agree.
- 49:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:48Speaker 3: But who sets that standard? Like you're spending.
- 49:51Speaker 8: I'm getting taxed or whatever on this date because you
- 49:54Speaker 8: spend 400 a month. You don't have to spend. You
- 49:57Speaker 8: spend 400 a month because you want to see it.
- 49:59Speaker 2: You want to go on a date with a woman
- 50:01Speaker 2: who doesn't live up to the standard.
- 50:03Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.
- 50:04Speaker 3: It's all it's all in what I like. You know
- 50:06Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 50:07Speaker 8: You spending four to five hundred dollars a month on
- 50:09Speaker 8: your own beauty regimen.
- 50:12Speaker 3: That's all on you.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I mean, guys, we spend money. I'm asking you, is
- 50:17Speaker 1: it really on them? Yes, it's on them. And I
- 50:20Speaker 1: don't want to get too deep here, but if society
- 50:21Speaker 1: sets a standard that you are supposed to look a
- 50:24Speaker 1: certain way, it's easy to say, well, then don't do it.
- 50:26Speaker 7: Right.
- 50:27Speaker 1: But it's harder to go, well, then don't, then I won't.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Yeah, let me show you two pictures of the same woman.
- 50:31Speaker 2: One's doing the beauty standard and one's not. And which
- 50:33Speaker 2: one are you going to pick? You're absolutely picking the
- 50:35Speaker 2: one with the lashes, the one with the hair, the
- 50:37Speaker 2: one with the nails, the one with the Botox.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Candace has a point. I'm not going to lie.
- 50:42Speaker 8: Okay, the one with the eyelashes and all that other stuff,
- 50:46Speaker 8: what about they're already cheating using filters?
- 50:49Speaker 3: I'm going on a date with.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Somebody who's... I mean, the filter's free. That's on you.
- 50:53Speaker 8: I know, but you're already faking the funk anyway, because
- 50:56Speaker 8: when I see you on a.
- 50:57Speaker 3: I'm not on any.
- 50:58Speaker 8: Date apps, but if I see you on Tinder, on Hinge,
- 51:02Speaker 8: or whatever, it's obviously a filter.
- 51:04Speaker 2: I mean, think about how much money you make. You
- 51:06Speaker 2: don't have to tell us what that is, obviously, but
- 51:08Speaker 2: what if the men's beauty standard was you have to
- 51:11Speaker 2: have lashes, you have to get your high hair done,
- 51:12Speaker 2: you have to wear extensions, you have to get.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Okay, but I do.
- 51:17Speaker 2: All these fillers and 10 different types of underwear.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but I do. Wait, you have to have different underwear?
- 51:23Speaker 7: Well, yeah.
- 51:24Speaker 8: The average guy's haircut now is like $ 50 or $ 60.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Okay, what's the average woman's haircut?
- 51:30Speaker 1: $ 100. Again, but women, you choose to do that. Another
- 51:33Speaker 1: one on the board for Candace.
- 51:34Speaker 8: You can't sit up here and get upset because your
- 51:39Speaker 8: beauty regimen costs you money. You're going to pay whatever
- 51:42Speaker 8: you think. To make you look good and feel a
- 51:44Speaker 8: certain way. I got to say, I kind of like
- 51:46Speaker 8: you two fighting instead of me.
- 51:47Speaker 3: But I didn't set that standard.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I mean, how much do you spend on personal care
- 51:51Speaker 2: products per month?
- 51:52Speaker 1: That's a good point. If you had to spend, because
- 51:55Speaker 1: I know poo.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I don't have a choice on some of these. I mean,
- 51:59Speaker 2: let's just be honest. Right. You know, I don't have
- 52:01Speaker 2: a choice whether I want to spend this or not.
- 52:03Speaker 2: It's happening.
- 52:04Speaker 1: On feminine products and whatnot.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Correct, yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 11: Right.
- 52:06Speaker 1: So you spend more. I mean, I agree with that.
- 52:08Speaker 3: I get that, but I mean, not to be funny,
- 52:10Speaker 3: but you're married. You shouldn't have to worry about anything.
- 52:13Speaker 7: What? I mean, she.
- 52:15Speaker 1: So if you're married, you don't care what you look like?
- 52:17Speaker 8: I'm just saying she's not out here trying to catch anybody. Yeah,
- 52:20Speaker 8: she has to spend a certain amount.
- 52:22Speaker 2: So you're saying once you get married, that woman can
- 52:24Speaker 2: just let herself go?
- 52:26Speaker 8: I'm not saying let herself all the way go. You know,
- 52:29Speaker 8: keep the beauty going for your husband.
- 52:32Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:33Speaker 8: You're not spending if you're spending four to five hundred
- 52:35Speaker 8: a month and you're married.
- 52:37Speaker 3: Something's wrong because your husband already got you.
- 52:39Speaker 1: It costs two hundred dollars just to get a haircut
- 52:41Speaker 1: if you're a woman.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:42Speaker 1: And then the color and then honestly your makeup.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I mean, I'm doing my own gel nails at home
- 52:47Speaker 2: with a gel kit because it's just too expensive to
- 52:50Speaker 2: keep doing it a couple times a month.
- 52:52Speaker 1: Getting your nails done is two hundred bucks.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:55Speaker 1: I mean, it's a poo. I don't think you realize
- 52:57Speaker 1: it's a lot.
- 52:57Speaker 8: No, I understand that, but when they say the society standard,
- 53:01Speaker 8: it costs a lot for us.
- 53:02Speaker 3: We've got to have a good car. That's not true, though.
- 53:06Speaker 2: You don't have to have a good car. A running
- 53:08Speaker 2: car works.
- 53:09Speaker 8: It depends on who you're dating. Maybe for you, Candace,
- 53:12Speaker 8: but the average woman out there nowadays— I love cars.
- 53:15Speaker 8: Don't get me wrong. A lot of girls want a
- 53:17Speaker 8: guy who makes more than the amount— Of money to
- 53:21Speaker 8: take care of them and everything else.
- 53:23Speaker 1: I don't think that's the case.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I mean, that's your choice. I dated someone, and on
- 53:26Speaker 2: the first date, we split it.
- 53:27Speaker 1: You know why?
- 53:28Speaker 2: Because I knew I made more money than him. But
- 53:30Speaker 2: you know why I made more money? Because I worked harder,
- 53:31Speaker 2: and I'm a better person than he was.
- 53:33Speaker 1: That was true.
- 53:33Speaker 2: So it is what it is in that case.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that, honestly, I don't know if
- 53:37Speaker 1: that's the case. Not every woman. That's a broad statement.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Every woman cares about what you drive. I genuinely don't
- 53:42Speaker 1: think that's true.
- 53:43Speaker 7: No.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I don't think it's true. I do think there's some
- 53:45Speaker 1: standards set on men that are different from women.
- 53:47Speaker 2: It depends on what pond you want to fish in.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Do you want to fish in the pond for women
- 53:50Speaker 2: who care about that stuff? Or do you not want
- 53:52Speaker 2: to find someone who doesn't care?
- 53:54Speaker 3: I can say the same about a guy. The pond statement,
- 53:58Speaker 3: you know what I mean?
- 53:59Speaker 1: No, for sure.
- 53:59Speaker 8: Because I don't care if you spend $ 400 to $ 500
- 54:01Speaker 8: at Ulta. Like you don't have to have fake eyelashes.
- 54:05Speaker 8: And honestly, I don't even like eyelashes and all that stuff.
- 54:08Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 54:09Speaker 2: I just think women just don't get enough credit in
- 54:11Speaker 2: the world in general, the things that we have to
- 54:13Speaker 2: go through beyond our choice. You don't know what battles
- 54:16Speaker 2: we're fighting every day quietly. And men are fighting their own,
- 54:18Speaker 2: but some of them are just because we were born
- 54:20Speaker 2: a woman.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's not easy. It's not easy to
- 54:24Speaker 1: be a man. I get it. But I absolutely agree
- 54:26Speaker 1: with you that I say it's definitely hard to be
- 54:28Speaker 1: a woman.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't say it's easy to be a woman.
- 54:30Speaker 3: I'm not going to— I opened my mouth before.
- 54:31Speaker 1: I think that's what you said.
- 54:33Speaker 3: But I'm just saying, they got to realize guys go.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Through struggles, too. Okay, so back to the bill. So
- 54:39Speaker 1: you're saying this is the whole point. So you're saying, Poo,
- 54:42Speaker 1: it should be 50-50.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:45Speaker 1: I mean, you should.
- 54:46Speaker 3: You should be able to.
- 54:47Speaker 1: You don't think that woman has a point that went viral?
- 54:49Speaker 1: You don't think she has a point?
- 54:51Speaker 3: Not with all this.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Wow.
- 54:53Speaker 7: No, I don't.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:54Speaker 2: I mean, think about how long it took us to
- 54:56Speaker 2: be able to vote, to open a bank account, to
- 54:58Speaker 2: get a credit card, to own property. Like, it's a
- 55:00Speaker 2: systemic constraint that's just been on top of us, you know,
- 55:04Speaker 2: for years. And we're just now coming out of it.
- 55:07Speaker 1: I want to know what you think. 833-787-1029. Because I
- 55:10Speaker 1: think that when it went viral does have a point.
- 55:12Speaker 2: She does have a point. Do I think all men
- 55:14Speaker 2: have to pay for all dates all the time? Absolutely not.
- 55:17Speaker 2: That's unrealistic. But she's not wrong.
- 55:19Speaker 1: She's saying there's a reason why it shouldn't be 50-50.
- 55:22Speaker 1: And I'm wondering what you think. Hot take of the day.
- 55:25Speaker 1: take of the day oh that's a hot.
- 55:27Speaker 11: Take let us know what you think here's today's hot
- 55:30Speaker 11: take it's getting a little heated on mix 102.9 over
- 55:33Speaker 11: here it's billy the kid candace lopez producer poo i'm
- 55:36Speaker 11: also an instigator professionally i like.
- 55:39Speaker 1: To yeah i like to stir the pot a little
- 55:41Speaker 1: bit you know yeah and i'm on candace's side whatever
- 55:44Speaker 1: she says i'm on her side This woman went viral
- 55:47Speaker 1: for basically saying that it should never, on a date,
- 55:50Speaker 1: it should never be split 50-50 with men and women.
- 55:53Speaker 1: And she said it's because it's not equal in the
- 55:55Speaker 1: first place, meaning that women spend more on looks. They
- 55:58Speaker 1: get paid less. So it's never going to be 50-50,
- 56:03Speaker 1: even if they were to spend the same amount of
- 56:06Speaker 1: money because they don't make as much. So you're saying
- 56:09Speaker 1: a man's 50% goes further than a woman's 50%.
- 56:11Speaker 2: She's not wrong. And there is a connection between appearance, grooming,
- 56:14Speaker 2: and earnings for women. Like they've done studies. If you
- 56:17Speaker 2: wear makeup and groom yourself better, you can earn a
- 56:20Speaker 2: lot more money.
- 56:21Speaker 1: I would probably.
- 56:22Speaker 2: For the same reason of what the beauty standard is.
- 56:24Speaker 1: That's what the studies show, research shows. Poo's on the
- 56:28Speaker 1: other end defending, I don't know, certain men, not me.
- 56:31Speaker 1: He's basically saying, well, then don't do it if you
- 56:34Speaker 1: don't want to. Either way, Nicole, I think you agree
- 56:36Speaker 1: with Candace, right?
- 56:37Speaker 9: No, I completely agree with her. It is just harder
- 56:40Speaker 9: keeping up with being a woman in general because there
- 56:44Speaker 9: is a standard on like how we're meant to like
- 56:47Speaker 9: just kind of carry ourselves, especially like if you're a working,
- 56:51Speaker 9: you know, you can't just. be out looking all kinds
- 56:54Speaker 9: of crazy.
- 56:55Speaker 2: Right um right you guys can shave your face whatever
- 56:59Speaker 2: you want yeah we have to shave our legs everything every.
- 57:03Speaker 9: Day oh my god don't even don't even get me
- 57:05Speaker 9: started on that amen but like and then everything's so
- 57:09Speaker 9: expensive too right there's no like there's no account for
- 57:14Speaker 9: how much money like we have to spend on ourselves
- 57:17Speaker 9: just to keep ourselves up And, you know, feeling good.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Now, what Pooh is saying is if you don't want
- 57:22Speaker 1: to shave your legs and you don't want to spend
- 57:23Speaker 1: the money on your nails and legs, then don't.
- 57:26Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, nobody told you go spend $ 200 or
- 57:28Speaker 8: $ 300 on getting your nails done.
- 57:30Speaker 3: You ain't got to do that.
- 57:31Speaker 1: But that's unreal.
- 57:32Speaker 9: You know, like, listening to you talk about, like, what
- 57:37Speaker 9: women can and can't do, and then, like, what they,
- 57:40Speaker 9: you know, like, oh, it's on them if they want
- 57:42Speaker 9: to do that. But then you also talk like you have, like,
- 57:45Speaker 9: this expectation of what you want your woman to be like.
- 57:49Speaker 9: You know, and then you want to split 50-50s. You know,
- 57:51Speaker 9: I know why you're single now.
- 57:52Speaker 10: Oh!
- 57:55Speaker 1: Yes, Nicole, thank you. I appreciate it, Nicole. I'm going
- 58:00Speaker 1: to leave.
- 58:01Speaker 9: It at that right there, girl. You're fishing in a
- 58:05Speaker 9: bougie pond, but you want them to split 50-50?
- 58:08Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 58:10Speaker 1: You want to talk about fishing in the wrong pond.
- 58:13Speaker 1: He's expecting some, like, I don't know, exotic Pacific ocean fish.
- 58:18Speaker 7: Mermaid.
- 58:18Speaker 1: But he's in the Trinity River.
- 58:19Speaker 9: When he's over here using hot dogs to fish.
- 58:25Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 58:28Speaker 10: I can't.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Thank you, Nicole. You just made my morning, girl.
- 58:33Speaker 9: All right, y'all have a good day.
- 58:36Speaker 7: You too.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Game on. Kevin, good morning, Kevin. What's up? How are you?
- 58:42Speaker 1: I'm doing well.
- 58:43Speaker 4: I think I'm about to dig myself a hole, though.
- 58:45Speaker 1: That's okay. I want to hear what you have to think.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Who will pass you the shovel?
- 58:48Speaker 1: What do you have to think? Yeah, he'll pass him
- 58:50Speaker 1: the shovel, boo. Go ahead.
- 58:52Speaker 4: All right. Number one, this is kind of my theory
- 58:55Speaker 4: on it. From a business point of view, the whole
- 58:58Speaker 4: women make less than men. If that's the case, I'd
- 59:00Speaker 4: have a whole female workforce. Why am I going to
- 59:02Speaker 4: pay a guy 100 grand when I can pay you
- 59:04Speaker 4: 80 and start pocketing the rest?
- 59:05Speaker 9: Perfect.
- 59:06Speaker 4: I mean, you're gonna get paid i hate to say
- 59:07Speaker 4: it what you're worth i'm not saying women aren't worth
- 59:09Speaker 4: anything but look at the wmba for example why don't
- 59:12Speaker 4: they make the same as regular nba okay second part
- 59:16Speaker 4: the whole haircut thing right guys get the haircut about
- 59:19Speaker 4: what maybe once a month yep when women get their
- 59:21Speaker 4: haircuts once every four months Okay.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 59:25Speaker 2: It's not supposed to, you're not supposed to go that long.
- 59:27Speaker 1: So let me ask you this, Kevin, you're saying, so
- 59:30Speaker 1: if you, let me ask you this, cause you say,
- 59:31Speaker 1: you know, obviously you get paid, women get paid less.
- 59:34Speaker 1: If that was the case, then why wouldn't you just
- 59:35Speaker 1: have an entire, you're saying that. Women don't want to
- 59:39Speaker 1: do the jobs that you you have available at that
- 59:42Speaker 1: high pay or higher pay. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 59:45Speaker 4: I'm in the construction field. So, yeah, we don't have
- 59:47Speaker 4: a whole lot of females doing this. OK, I mean,
- 59:50Speaker 4: that's just kind of the way that the ball bounces
- 59:52Speaker 4: on that. But I mean, we have admin, you have
- 59:53Speaker 4: other things.
- 59:54Speaker 2: But if you did have a woman, would you pay
- 59:56Speaker 2: her the same? You pay a man for the same job?
- 59:59Speaker 4: If she did the same thing, yes, ma'am.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Okay, well, that's props to you because not everyone would.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: I mean, you do the job, you do the job.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: I mean, I was in the military. We had the
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: same thing. Women could do certain things. I mean, women
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: could do certain things and men couldn't. Men could do
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: certain things, women couldn't. I mean, it's just that's the
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: way the ball bounced.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I respect you for that.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: But I've seen so many women, though, just make it
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: through life with their looks. Girls ain't looking at the
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: fat guy working at McDonald's.
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: No.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: You look at the guy with the 24-pack abs and
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: driving a nice car and got the house and everything.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: I've seen plenty of rich men make poor women rich.
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: Don't see a whole lot of rich women make poor
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: men rich.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Okay, Kevin, stay right there.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Now, he does have a point there.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: But why is that?
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: I know, but.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: That's how society is. You see the old, ugly guy
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: with his hot, young thing.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: But my point is, that's also not real.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: That's his issue.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: That's his issue, and usually that doesn't last.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Because he thrives off of having a hot, young woman.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: We don't need to thrive off of that.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Okay, that's a good point, too. Whatever. And I know women.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: I know plenty of women who date men who make
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: way less money and don't have six packs.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: That's few and far between.
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: I know if you go through a drive-thru and a
- 1:01:15Speaker 8: brother's working hard and he says, hey, can I get
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: your number?
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: You're going to be like, no, you're working at Popeye's.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: Well, go holler at the girl working at Popeye's then.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It's easier for y'all. Y'all talking
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: about society standard.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: But are you going to go ask the girl at
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the Popeye's drive-thru.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: For a number?
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: I've done that before. That's because you love chicken. We
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: can all agree on that.
