Latest / Bleacher Report / Micah & Malik Nabers Debate Titans Drafting Carnell Tate at No. 4 | 2026 NFL Draft
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Tennessee Titans with their brand new coach Robbers.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Oh my, you gotta be kidding me. Wow, the eyebrowser
- 0:08Speaker 1: raised for Elik Neighbors. We got a receiver going at
- 0:12Speaker 1: pick number four. The Tennessee Titans shock everybody and get
- 0:16Speaker 1: a weapon for cam Ward.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Wow.
- 0:19Speaker 1: The big number here, seventy seven percent. That is Cardinal
- 0:24Speaker 1: Tate's catch rate on throws beyond twelve yards, number one
- 0:27Speaker 1: in the country, A second team All American, the All American. Yeah,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the Titans just drafted a receiver who converts a lot
- 0:36Speaker 1: of first downs and is a model of consistency. But
- 0:39Speaker 1: we were not expecting this. Trevor Sigmuand what do you
- 0:43Speaker 1: think about Carneal Tate.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I am shocked here that this is the pick.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Now.
- 0:49Speaker 3: A lot of people had Carneal Tat's wide wide receiver
- 0:51Speaker 3: one in this draft because of what he can do
- 0:54Speaker 3: as a vertical wide receiver. And you can understand that
- 0:57Speaker 3: when I look at his comparison, he's bigger than Davonte Smith,
- 1:01Speaker 3: but I feel like they play similarly, like they're able
- 1:03Speaker 3: to cut on those deep vertical routes deep down the field.
- 1:06Speaker 3: This is more of a play style than necessarily like
- 1:09Speaker 3: a body comp So when you look at some of
- 1:11Speaker 3: these plays from both of these guys back to back,
- 1:13Speaker 3: I mean you'll see that Carnel Tait, you'll see his
- 1:15Speaker 3: vertical ability getting off the line of scrimmage clean. I
- 1:18Speaker 3: know he wasn't facing press coverage there, but you get
- 1:20Speaker 3: in a situation where you're double covered, he goes up
- 1:22Speaker 3: to get it, contest to catch deep down the field.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Like you were talking about, this is salivating for cam Ward, right,
- 1:28Speaker 3: this is what cam Ward wanted on this team. Davonte Smith,
- 1:32Speaker 3: you see that vertical ability from him there as well.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And we'll get two more plays each year from these
- 1:36Speaker 3: guys to just highlight that similarity of what they can
- 1:39Speaker 3: do as vertical receivers. I love that Carnel Tate went
- 1:42Speaker 3: up to attack that ball when it was in the air.
- 1:44Speaker 3: And then the same thing here for Davonte Smith again,
- 1:46Speaker 3: a vertical type of receiver that can come down with
- 1:49Speaker 3: the tough contested catches there. That was a little bit
- 1:51Speaker 3: of a highlight one with that one handed catch. When
- 1:53Speaker 3: you look at the Tennessee Titans, this is really what
- 1:57Speaker 3: we're talking about here. Alicio Mahner not really a consistent
- 2:00Speaker 3: deep threat. Wandale Robinson not a consistent deep threat. Calvin
- 2:03Speaker 3: Ridley not a consistent deep threat, gun or Helm same thing.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So you have four your top receiving options right here,
- 2:10Speaker 3: not really vertical receivers. This is something they don't have
- 2:13Speaker 3: on the offense right now. And so when I look
- 2:15Speaker 3: at Carnel Tait, I think this is early for this player,
- 2:20Speaker 3: but it does feel the need that they have on
- 2:22Speaker 3: their team. I'm still going with the B for this
- 2:25Speaker 3: here for Carnell Tate because I do like the player,
- 2:27Speaker 3: I like the scheme fit. But again, Carnell Tape was
- 2:29Speaker 3: a little bit further down my board, I would have
- 2:31Speaker 3: won a different direction.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Now we go to our resident wide receiver, Elaite neighbors
- 2:35Speaker 1: your thought on Carneal Tape and be real.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Okay, I mean I want him to come to that
- 2:41Speaker 4: issue coming out of high school. You know I took
- 2:44Speaker 4: him on his visit. Well, I was there when he visited,
- 2:48Speaker 4: and I want him to come that He's a very
- 2:50Speaker 4: talented player, you know, like you say, can high point
- 2:53Speaker 4: the ball, but you know he's going to do tremendous
- 2:56Speaker 4: in Coach Daves offense. You know, I was in that offense.
- 2:59Speaker 4: It's hard offense to learn. But he's a very smart player.
- 3:02Speaker 4: He's gonna get it. Wandelle is there, so he's definitely
- 3:05Speaker 4: gonna help him. But I just I don't think that
- 3:09Speaker 4: you know this, this is a draft to draft a receiver.
- 3:15Speaker 4: I just don't think that high like that's that's that's
- 3:19Speaker 4: that's high.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I say you were the receiver the draft and mar
- 3:23Speaker 1: We're skill set compared to Carnell Tate. You were saying,
- 3:27Speaker 1: do you see him as a number one in the NFL?
- 3:31Speaker 3: No, I don't know.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I don't see him being the number one. He hasn't
- 3:34Speaker 4: been the number one on the team that he's been on.
- 3:37Speaker 4: I mean, all you have to be a number one
- 3:40Speaker 4: on the team that you're coming from. To be a
- 3:42Speaker 4: number one receiver that the team that you're going to
- 3:44Speaker 4: because they're gonna trust you a lot. To be the
- 3:46Speaker 4: first person that they throw the ball to, the first
- 3:48Speaker 4: person they count on to win the rep. You have
- 3:51Speaker 4: to be that. You can't be the second. Anybody Anybody
- 3:54Speaker 4: can do what you mean.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Json was never number one. Bro Jason was different though,
- 4:00Speaker 2: hold on, hold on, no, you said you gotta be
- 4:02Speaker 2: number on the team that you're coming from Jensen was
- 4:05Speaker 2: not number one. But you gotta understand the number one player,
- 4:08Speaker 2: we're probably the number one pick next year.
- 4:10Speaker 4: He wasn't the number one on the team.
- 4:11Speaker 2: He went to f DK was exactly okay, but that's
- 4:15Speaker 2: what he said.
- 4:15Speaker 4: You fill that road the next year after that, but
- 4:18Speaker 4: they still can.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Okay, so give him a chance to fulfill the road.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I'm going into that now.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but okay, but the person that was the number
- 4:25Speaker 2: one is probably gonna be the number one pick next year.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Jeremiah is special.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Do you have?
- 4:30Speaker 1: You had Carnell in your top ten, so clearly you
- 4:33Speaker 1: think he's talented, But what do you think about him
- 4:35Speaker 1: going for.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I like to pick you do. This is the exact
- 4:38Speaker 2: thing that I was talking about. Yeah, you probably need
- 4:40Speaker 2: defense day, you probably need offensive line, but you needed
- 4:43Speaker 2: help can Ward. Calvin Ridlely hasn't really been on the
- 4:46Speaker 2: field a lot the last couple of years. They really
- 4:49Speaker 2: don't have a guy that can really go to deep downfield.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Like Truvor said, this makes sense, you like, and this
- 4:57Speaker 2: is what I mean when you're drafting your GM. You
- 5:00Speaker 2: got Brian de Bull, a great offensive coordinator. You got
- 5:02Speaker 2: cam Ward with the arm talent. How do I help
- 5:05Speaker 2: my quarterback? How do I help the person I took
- 5:09Speaker 2: number one overall and develop him into the franchise player
- 5:12Speaker 2: we want to be without screwing the organization. That is
- 5:16Speaker 2: the guy that you're saying, he's our number one guy,
- 5:18Speaker 2: and that's what you know you got to see out
- 5:20Speaker 2: of the Raiders over the next couple of years. Do
- 5:22Speaker 2: we put forward to the guy that we chose number one?
- 5:24Speaker 2: This makes the most sense. You have to help kim Ward,
- 5:27Speaker 2: not in the second round. After that, there's a big
- 5:29Speaker 2: drop out of the after the top five receivers. It's
- 5:31Speaker 2: a big drop up next
