- 0:03Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 0:07Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 0:11Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 0:19Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 0:23Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 0:28Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 0:31Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 0:35Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fined nearly
- 0:39Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned, and deported. You will
- 0:43Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 0:46Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 0:55Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 1:01Speaker 3: All right, guys, welcome back another virtual episode edition, Quarantine edition.
- 1:10Speaker 4: So we got a very dope episode.
- 1:12Speaker 3: We're gonna highlight a very impressive entrepreneur, the Dune Thompson.
- 1:17Speaker 3: You probably saw his shirts, T shirts, hoodies worn by
- 1:21Speaker 3: a variety of different celebrities, mainly Envy. A lot of
- 1:24Speaker 3: people watch the Breakfast Club. He wears it a lot,
- 1:26Speaker 3: and it's called My God Versus My Enemies. That's the
- 1:29Speaker 3: name of like the I guess the most popular shirt
- 1:31Speaker 3: with the clothing brand itself. It's called Body of God Clothing.
- 1:35Speaker 3: So doing shout out. So I got Mike, Mike, Mike
- 1:39Speaker 3: really hooked this, hooked this up. He's actually been talking
- 1:41Speaker 3: about it for a while.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Definitely, I'm excited to be on here man. Now we
- 1:48Speaker 5: definitely probably played tag at some point last year, but
- 1:52Speaker 5: you know, we get caught up. But you know, everything
- 1:54Speaker 5: is timing, man.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Everything happened when it's supposed to happen.
- 1:56Speaker 2: The world sold down, so it's perfect time.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, So first and foremost, thank you for
- 2:03Speaker 3: joining us.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Thank you guys for having me on my head.
- 2:08Speaker 4: For sure.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So, yeah, this is an interesting conversation because you know,
- 2:13Speaker 3: we like to highlight entrepreneurs and the clothing business is
- 2:17Speaker 3: something that we've we touched on before, but it's always
- 2:19Speaker 3: room the covering more. We haven't like really covered it
- 2:21Speaker 3: in depth, and especially from the merch standpoint as far
- 2:25Speaker 3: as hoodies, t shirts, because these are simplified items that
- 2:29Speaker 3: like when most people start a clothing brand, that's what
- 2:31Speaker 3: they start with.
- 2:32Speaker 4: T shirts, hoodies, sweatshit, stuff like that. Like we all
- 2:36Speaker 4: we are Alicia, that's what we have, right.
- 2:40Speaker 3: So it's like, you know, this is something that you
- 2:43Speaker 3: don't have to have a factory to do. You don't
- 2:46Speaker 3: have to have h you don't have to go to
- 2:49Speaker 3: f I T or one of these colleges to figure
- 2:52Speaker 3: this out. But it's something that's also difficult as well.
- 2:55Speaker 3: It's not easy, and especially to launch it on a
- 2:59Speaker 3: on a high level and to have you know, celebrities
- 3:01Speaker 3: wearing it and kind of go viral online and things that.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I think one of the most important things.
- 3:06Speaker 6: You need this vision and a plan, and you definitely
- 3:08Speaker 6: have both of them. So I'm excited for the world
- 3:11Speaker 6: to hear about it.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, So this is something I think is going
- 3:14Speaker 3: to be a lot of value to a lot of people.
- 3:16Speaker 4: And whether you're in the clothing business or.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Not, I'm sure you're inspired by a lot of things.
- 3:21Speaker 6: Number One, there was an eviction process that that kind
- 3:24Speaker 6: of got got in the way of some things and
- 3:26Speaker 6: you battled a few breakups.
- 3:28Speaker 2: You want to get into that a little bit.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Yeah, we can get into that.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk about it.
- 3:31Speaker 5: So let's let's talk about that. So I was in
- 3:35Speaker 5: a relationship at that time and the person I was
- 3:39Speaker 5: in a relationship with, you know, and still got no animosity.
- 3:45Speaker 5: We don't speak or anything like that. But it was
- 3:47Speaker 5: just more of a situation where like you know, uh,
- 3:50Speaker 5: you it's a season. You learned that, like you know,
- 3:54Speaker 5: you can be with somebody and you know, think that
- 3:56Speaker 5: that's going to be forever. But you also, what I
- 3:59Speaker 5: learned from that situation is the minute you start putting
- 4:03Speaker 5: people over God, God has to be first in everything
- 4:07Speaker 5: you do, you know what I mean. And I learned that,
- 4:09Speaker 5: like you know, in Christianity, we know there's this verse
- 4:14Speaker 5: in the Bible, but we serve a jealous God. Like
- 4:16Speaker 5: you know what I mean, The minute you put somebody
- 4:18Speaker 5: over God, God is going to let you know, He's
- 4:21Speaker 5: going to give you an opportunity and you'll hear it
- 4:24Speaker 5: and you'll see it, and you know, sometimes you call
- 4:26Speaker 5: him bread flags. Those are the things that when God
- 4:28Speaker 5: shows you certain things and he says, look, I need
- 4:31Speaker 5: you to separate and be more focused on me. And
- 4:35Speaker 5: at that point I was like, nah, I'm not separating,
- 4:38Speaker 5: even though I've seen certain things that showed me that,
- 4:41Speaker 5: like at this point this season, but this person was over.
- 4:44Speaker 5: So now after God has has told you what you
- 4:48Speaker 5: need to do and you don't do it, the next
- 4:51Speaker 5: thing is God is going to do it and it's
- 4:53Speaker 5: gonna hurt. So there's a there's a there's a quote
- 4:56Speaker 5: that I've been living by this like last couple of weeks,
- 4:59Speaker 5: which is, if you were obedient when God first put
- 5:02Speaker 5: it on your heart, it wouldn't feel like much of
- 5:05Speaker 5: a sacrifice, you know what I mean. And that's with
- 5:08Speaker 5: anything we do, like when we think about like even
- 5:11Speaker 5: you guys, as you started this amazing, I want to
- 5:15Speaker 5: call it a podcast, but it's bigger than that. It's
- 5:17Speaker 5: a movement. I think with you guys, even starting that,
- 5:21Speaker 5: there were times when you think back to when you
- 5:24Speaker 5: felt like you should have made the move just do
- 5:27Speaker 5: you know what I mean? You just have to do
- 5:28Speaker 5: without really thinking overthinking things at times, and that time
- 5:32Speaker 5: when I was in that relationship, I definitely realized that,
- 5:35Speaker 5: like you know, once you start making when something once
- 5:38Speaker 5: you're making more deposits into a person, place, thing, and
- 5:43Speaker 5: they're making more withdrawals than deposits. Wish you then it's
- 5:47Speaker 5: not a balanced friendship relationship anything. So it just got
- 5:51Speaker 5: to a point that that person walked away from the relationship,
- 5:55Speaker 5: you know what I mean? And you know it's no
- 5:58Speaker 5: shade to it. I understand things happened and I had
- 6:01Speaker 5: to figure it out, but I was I was blown
- 6:04Speaker 5: away by this because I just like, I had invested
- 6:07Speaker 5: so much into this person in relationship that when that occurred,
- 6:14Speaker 5: I didn't know what to do next. So what did
- 6:17Speaker 5: I do? Just sat and got depressed. I really felt
- 6:21Speaker 5: I stayed in the house. I didn't work. I really
- 6:25Speaker 5: was like, you know what, I didn't really It was
- 6:27Speaker 5: never a point that I really said like, yo, I'm
- 6:29Speaker 5: gonna kill myself. But I can see where people when
- 6:31Speaker 5: they deal with these that thought bounces through your head
- 6:35Speaker 5: because you're just like, yo, life sucks, Like this was
- 6:39Speaker 5: not part of the plan. Like and then you're watching
- 6:42Speaker 5: this person thrive, and then you're like and and on
- 6:45Speaker 5: top of that, you still have to interact with that
- 6:48Speaker 5: person because we have so many mutual friends and you're
- 6:50Speaker 5: playing it cool when you're seeing them, You're saying, hey,
- 6:52Speaker 5: what's up, and you're and they're happy and celebrated, and
- 6:55Speaker 5: you're like, I'm dying over here.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Why I'm so starting.
- 7:00Speaker 5: The milk in the refrigerator because you've left me. So
- 7:06Speaker 5: you're sitting there and you're really like yo, and it's
- 7:09Speaker 5: not really at the end of the day, it's seasoned sometimes,
- 7:12Speaker 5: like you know what I mean. I never fought that
- 7:13Speaker 5: person for what happened, because you know, everything's a season
- 7:17Speaker 5: and you have to understand it. And sometimes you know,
- 7:20Speaker 5: like I said, God will always give you the opportunity
- 7:21Speaker 5: to know when the season is over. Now, if you
- 7:24Speaker 5: don't move, if you don't have the the I would
- 7:28Speaker 5: call it the relational intelligence that tells you when it's
- 7:33Speaker 5: time to separate from certain things, places, or people, then
- 7:37Speaker 5: when it does happen, you're going to be flat on
- 7:39Speaker 5: your face. So that time I had to you know,
- 7:42Speaker 5: I was in an apartment and just wasn't working. Really,
- 7:46Speaker 5: I actually had started working at Amazon at that time,
- 7:49Speaker 5: to be honest. That was another job that I did,
- 7:51Speaker 5: which was cool at the time, but it wasn't cool
- 7:53Speaker 5: enough to pay all the bills. Because once I started Amazon,
- 7:56Speaker 5: I was already I was already three months behind on
- 7:59Speaker 5: rent and I was just trying. But I wasn't really
- 8:02Speaker 5: doing that out of passion. I was just like working
- 8:03Speaker 5: because I was just like, I gotta I gotta eat,
- 8:06Speaker 5: you know what I mean. And at that point in time,
- 8:09Speaker 5: I really now, I'm really proving to my parents, you
- 8:13Speaker 5: didn't go to law school, this is what you get.
- 8:15Speaker 5: So I'm like, no, you know what, I'm definitely not
- 8:17Speaker 5: going back home. So I had to even go through
- 8:19Speaker 5: the process of going back. Finally, I just got to
- 8:21Speaker 5: the point when I came outside, car was gone. I
- 8:25Speaker 5: was like, you know what, I'm not sitting in this Wait.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Wait they repolled the vehicle or this is like New
- 8:31Speaker 2: Jersey drive.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I took the car outside and it was an empty spot.
- 8:37Speaker 5: I was like, was I drunk last night night? I
- 8:39Speaker 5: parked somewhere else? Walking around, the car is gone, you
- 8:43Speaker 5: know what I mean? I was tight because I had
- 8:46Speaker 5: a couple fly sneakers in it, two and everything. Man.
- 8:49Speaker 5: I really even tried to just get those back at
- 8:51Speaker 5: that point. But in that space, the only thing, the
- 8:57Speaker 5: only thing I was left with at that time was
- 8:59Speaker 5: my faith and being in that time that I was
- 9:03Speaker 5: just dealing with like being folks. I had to focus
- 9:06Speaker 5: on God a little bit more. I was in church
- 9:08Speaker 5: a lot more. I was in church on Sunday, I
- 9:10Speaker 5: was in Bible study on Tuesday, I was in Midday
- 9:14Speaker 5: Word on Thursday. It gives you an opportunity to like,
- 9:18Speaker 5: but it does give you an opportunity to focus on
- 9:21Speaker 5: what's more important. So in that time, I had to
- 9:24Speaker 5: be faithful over little things so that God can make
- 9:28Speaker 5: you a master of many things, you know what I mean.
- 9:31Speaker 5: And that's kind of like what really happened is that
- 9:34Speaker 5: I started, you know, doing a lot, working at a
- 9:37Speaker 5: lot of homeless shelters, Like I just felt the need
- 9:40Speaker 5: to be given back, you know what I mean. That's
- 9:42Speaker 5: what I felt, Like I heard God say, you know
- 9:44Speaker 5: what I mean, give back. I would have little money
- 9:47Speaker 5: and somebody would ask me for money, and I would
- 9:49Speaker 5: just be like, I would give it. And it just
- 9:52Speaker 5: got to the point that like in that process, like
- 9:55Speaker 5: the idea came to me that I wanted to create
- 9:59Speaker 5: a clothing line. Like first it was really like I
- 10:03Speaker 5: can use this to bring in some type of finances,
- 10:06Speaker 5: you know what I mean. It's some additional money. But
- 10:08Speaker 5: in the same token. It was like I wanted a
- 10:11Speaker 5: brand that really gave people overall an opportunity to talk
- 10:15Speaker 5: about God, because I feel like now in this day
- 10:20Speaker 5: and age, it's so hard to have conversations about God.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Having a conversation about God nowadays, like having a conversation
- 10:27Speaker 5: or like around November and asking somebody who they're voting for,
- 10:30Speaker 5: you know what I mean, And it's a crazy conversation
- 10:32Speaker 5: to have. Even in this day. You would think that
- 10:35Speaker 5: everybody would just be like, you know, I'm not voting
- 10:37Speaker 5: for Trump. But at this time we know now we're like,
- 10:39Speaker 5: let's hold a vote, Like, you know what I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 5: I'm not sure I'm not voting. It doesn't mean some
- 10:44Speaker 5: people are saying it doesn't matter to them. But like
- 10:46Speaker 5: in that same token, when it came to talking about God,
- 10:49Speaker 5: it's a tough topic because people are very politically correct
- 10:54Speaker 5: when it comes to talking about faith.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It's funny you say that, because that's what they always say,
- 11:00Speaker 3: never talk about politics or religion, and you just did
- 11:04Speaker 3: both of those.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Yeah, have no fear of talking about that politics. I'm
- 11:12Speaker 5: probably more like liable to like and I've already pulled
- 11:18Speaker 5: the cat out the bag on that one. But I
- 11:21Speaker 5: do feel like, yeah, I understand how touching that topic
- 11:25Speaker 5: is because I really you know, that's one of the
- 11:27Speaker 5: things I don't know, Like you know we were talking about.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I think prior to this we had mentioned the power,
- 11:32Speaker 5: but I don't know. But we'll get into that also,
- 11:35Speaker 5: Like that's why for me, I don't really talk about politics.
- 11:39Speaker 5: I just know, like what I feel is right and
- 11:42Speaker 5: what I feel is wrong. But bringing that back, taking
- 11:45Speaker 5: that back and talking about the brand. So I wanted
- 11:47Speaker 5: to start a brand that specifically focused on giving people
- 11:51Speaker 5: an opportunity to talk about God. But I actually ever
- 11:53Speaker 5: happened to open your mouth, you know what I mean.
- 11:55Speaker 5: So you know, that's when my guy versus My enemies
- 11:59Speaker 5: came about, you know what I mean, And my God
- 12:01Speaker 5: versus my enemies really my enemies. At the time when
- 12:04Speaker 5: I started that was like I didn't have physical enemies.
- 12:07Speaker 5: I felt like I get love from everybody that's from
- 12:10Speaker 5: my area, whether it's New York, Jersey, whatever, I get
- 12:14Speaker 5: a lot of love. But the biggest things my enemies
- 12:17Speaker 5: was dealing with, like mental health. I realized how much
- 12:20Speaker 5: of an issue that was, Like when people deal with
- 12:22Speaker 5: depression and people deal with anxiety. I started to learn
- 12:25Speaker 5: about those things, and I'm like, you know, it's not
- 12:28Speaker 5: a myth, it's just not I used to hear about it,
- 12:30Speaker 5: and I used to like be tripping, she's having anxiety.
- 12:33Speaker 5: It's like, Aha, she tripping, you know what I mean?
- 12:36Speaker 5: I said? Or even like dealing with functional bipolar people,
- 12:40Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Like I have friends that
- 12:42Speaker 5: I had to find out that they're functionally bipolar. I'd
- 12:45Speaker 5: be like, Yo, that's crazy, Like I would leave my
- 12:48Speaker 5: kid with you, you know what I mean. So that's it's
- 12:51Speaker 5: finding out these things and so my enemies. At that time,
- 12:54Speaker 5: I felt like without God, I would have never been
- 12:57Speaker 5: able to battle those you know, deal with those things.
- 13:00Speaker 5: So you know, like you learned that, you know, depression
- 13:03Speaker 5: is a thing. It's something that if you don't deal
- 13:05Speaker 5: with it can overtake your mind's spirit, you know what
- 13:09Speaker 5: I mean. So that's kind of like where the first design,
- 13:13Speaker 5: which was my God versus my enemies, came about, and
- 13:15Speaker 5: it's still the main design because it's it's what people
- 13:21Speaker 5: like focus on, like that particular like statement, no matter
- 13:24Speaker 5: where you go, if you're wearing it, if you're walking
- 13:26Speaker 5: down the street and you have my God versus my
- 13:29Speaker 5: enemy's uh hoodie or sweatshirt on. Someone's gonna say to
- 13:33Speaker 5: you like either you have an old, older black lady
- 13:37Speaker 5: who's going to say, yes, Jesus God.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Me let me ask you God, let me ask you.
- 13:43Speaker 3: That that actually brings an interesting point because in the
- 13:45Speaker 3: next segment, what we're going to do next is going
- 13:47Speaker 3: to the business behind the clothing brand. But so we
- 13:51Speaker 3: haven't we haven't spoken about religion or Lisia. We actually
- 13:54Speaker 3: we invited a big time passed on. We're still waiting
- 13:58Speaker 3: accept but but you know, we we we we've kind
- 14:03Speaker 3: of stayed away from religion. It's a very touchy topic.
- 14:06Speaker 3: But the thing the thing about.
- 14:08Speaker 4: It is that.
- 14:11Speaker 3: It's it's it's interesting, especially from from a business standpoint,
- 14:15Speaker 3: because it's it's a thin line, right, and it's like
- 14:17Speaker 3: like Kanye right when he put the Jesus not Jesus Walk.
- 14:21Speaker 3: What's his last album, Yeah, Jesus King, Jesus King, Jesus
- 14:26Speaker 3: Jesus King. Yeah, so yeah, he put his two albums.
- 14:31Speaker 4: A lot of people.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Didn't know that there was a separate album that dropped
- 14:34Speaker 5: in December that was called Jesus Is Born. Jesus King
- 14:36Speaker 5: Is the first one that came out. Jesus is Born
- 14:39Speaker 5: is the one everybody was really expecting when it would
- 14:42Speaker 5: be like a whole bunch of choir and singing and
- 14:44Speaker 5: not really it's probably like seven percent Kanye and mostly
- 14:49Speaker 5: like choir singing.
- 14:51Speaker 4: That's what he should have did.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I want to see that?
- 14:53Speaker 5: Man?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Powerful?
- 14:54Speaker 4: Yeah? Well different and that's a powerful thing. Shout out
- 14:57Speaker 4: to Kanye shot. Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 3: So, but he got a lot of pushback because people
- 15:04Speaker 3: felt like, all right, are you capitalizing off of faith?
- 15:08Speaker 3: Are you profiting off of religion? And then you know,
- 15:10Speaker 3: it's always been a debate with pastors and especially like
- 15:14Speaker 3: big time pastors.
- 15:15Speaker 4: It's a very thin line.
- 15:17Speaker 3: But people are very passionate about their religion, right, and
- 15:20Speaker 3: I feel like what better way to promote religion and
- 15:22Speaker 3: what you believe in than to wear it? So to
- 15:25Speaker 3: me it makes sense. But were you ever conflict? Did
- 15:28Speaker 3: you ever get any pushback within the religious community as.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Like, yeah, how do you feel about that?
- 15:34Speaker 5: Oh? Man, that's a topic in itself. That man that
- 15:40Speaker 5: at one point for me that once I had gotten
- 15:41Speaker 5: to a certain space, that created anxiety for me, like
- 15:46Speaker 5: the conversation of it, like because you just never know
- 15:50Speaker 5: what angles someone that's coming at you and when they
- 15:53Speaker 5: talk about like the brand. So I'm a Christian, you
- 15:58Speaker 5: know what I mean, that's who I am, very solid
- 16:01Speaker 5: in my faith. But if you if you check out
- 16:03Speaker 5: my even my Bible, this unconventional Christian you know what
- 16:06Speaker 5: I mean. And I get pushed back from that, like
- 16:08Speaker 5: I get I get nine hundred MS that says, excuse me.
- 16:12Speaker 5: I would like for you to detail.
- 16:13Speaker 2: To me what all THEO come to speak to you.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Yes, I love God and I believe Jesus Christ is
- 16:22Speaker 5: the son of God. Yes, but I also believe I
- 16:25Speaker 5: am very honoring of the fact that I believe all
- 16:30Speaker 5: faiths do serve one God. I'm not here to break
- 16:33Speaker 5: that down in detail because I have I can't tell
- 16:36Speaker 5: you and I can explain to somebody why I believe
- 16:40Speaker 5: it's I can't explain to you why your God and
- 16:43Speaker 5: my God is the same. But more importantly, I can't
- 16:46Speaker 5: tell you that I know that God is love, right,
- 16:49Speaker 5: that's what I feel like God is equal to love.
- 16:51Speaker 5: And you know when people always talk about love changing
- 16:54Speaker 5: the world, that's when I think about that. More importantly,
- 16:56Speaker 5: like that's why for me, the brand is so important
- 17:01Speaker 5: to me because I know that like God is love,
- 17:04Speaker 5: and love is the one thing needed to change the world.
- 17:07Speaker 5: So when I think about when I have these conversations
- 17:09Speaker 5: and people talk to me and they're asking me, like, so,
- 17:13Speaker 5: when I wear your brand, am I wearing it as
- 17:16Speaker 5: a Christian? Am I wearing it? Is it against your Christian?
- 17:20Speaker 5: Does that mean me as a Muslim or me as
- 17:23Speaker 5: an atheist? Does this mean that I'm representing the Christian faith? No,
- 17:27Speaker 5: I'm like, when the first thing is my God, my
- 17:30Speaker 5: God in that sense, when you talk about this particular brand,
- 17:34Speaker 5: when you talk about this item right here, like the
- 17:37Speaker 5: God with like it's the God within you, you know what
- 17:39Speaker 5: I mean. Like, so when somebody's seen with the God
- 17:41Speaker 5: with like, the God within you is what's against your enemies.
- 17:46Speaker 5: So like, I try not to to get into these
- 17:49Speaker 5: big battles of who and what God we serve, because
- 17:54Speaker 5: that's where I feel like a lot of people. I
- 17:57Speaker 5: feel like a lot of people lose people because their
- 18:00Speaker 5: biggest focus is religion, not relationships. You know what I mean.
- 18:05Speaker 5: For me, it's creating relationships with people and having conversations
- 18:10Speaker 5: with people and understanding that we are all different in
- 18:14Speaker 5: every sense. If I'm trying to put a label on
- 18:17Speaker 5: who every single person is. That's like division, you know
- 18:21Speaker 5: what I mean, Like I meet a Muslim person, I'm
- 18:24Speaker 5: to this day, Like one of the biggest things I
- 18:25Speaker 5: started talking about with people like now is like I
- 18:27Speaker 5: want to start reading the Koran because it's important to
- 18:31Speaker 5: be knowledgeable, to be happy, able to have these conversations
- 18:33Speaker 5: with people. I'm not trying to press religion on anyone.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I do love God and I love Jesus Christ, and
- 18:40Speaker 5: that's who I am. But when it comes to the brand,
- 18:44Speaker 5: it's more about unity more than anything else. It's more
- 18:47Speaker 5: about trying to bring people together, you know what I mean.
- 18:50Speaker 5: It's so much division in our communities and just as
- 18:54Speaker 5: a whole that like we spend so much time trying to,
- 18:57Speaker 5: you know, label people instead of like figuring out how
- 19:00Speaker 5: we can be labeled as one, you know what I mean.
- 19:03Speaker 5: What's so divided. So that's why, like for me, I
- 19:06Speaker 5: try not to make it about religion, like you know
- 19:10Speaker 5: what I mean. This, Like I remember I was on
- 19:12Speaker 5: Sister Circle TV and I went in there and I
- 19:15Speaker 5: had like the noodle legs because my biggest fear was like,
- 19:19Speaker 5: oh my god, they're gonna ask me, what God do
- 19:22Speaker 5: you serve? You know what I mean? And I just
- 19:25Speaker 5: know for a fact, I've let God lead me into
- 19:28Speaker 5: all these situations. Even when I came on here. One
- 19:30Speaker 5: of the biggest things that I said was like, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 5: like you know, Godly you stand up and I sit down,
- 19:36Speaker 5: you know what I mean, because it's not this is
- 19:38Speaker 5: not about me. And it's like, I know, like you said,
- 19:40Speaker 5: you brought up the fact that people worry about like
- 19:43Speaker 5: you know, you know, profit and people worrying about money
- 19:48Speaker 5: and making money off. Like the biggest thing that people
- 19:51Speaker 5: will always see and say about this brand is that
- 19:53Speaker 5: we're always giving back, you know what I mean. It's
- 19:55Speaker 5: like we're constantly a place where we're sending cash apps
- 19:58Speaker 5: to people during this pandemic from the brand because we're
- 20:01Speaker 5: trying to like help people, we know how Like I
- 20:04Speaker 5: try not to hold on to anything, whether it's money,
- 20:07Speaker 5: whether it's it's it's the clothing I give it away.
- 20:10Speaker 5: That's the one thing that got me where I am
- 20:12Speaker 5: now is giving it away, you know what I mean.
- 20:15Speaker 3: And I think I think it's important to promote what
- 20:17Speaker 3: you believe in too, like I said, like I mean,
- 20:19Speaker 3: you I was I noticed that. It's like, my God,
- 20:22Speaker 3: that could be anything. You could be Jewish, Muslim, Christian,
- 20:24Speaker 3: Buddhast whatever. And also, I mean, I personally don't see
- 20:28Speaker 3: anything wrong with it, because it's like, if you're gonna
- 20:29Speaker 3: wear something, why not wear something and promote something. You
- 20:33Speaker 3: could be wearing something with you know, curses on it
- 20:36Speaker 3: and a whole bunch not to say, you know, to
- 20:38Speaker 3: each his own, but you're going to promote something when
- 20:40Speaker 3: you're wearing it.
- 20:40Speaker 6: I think I think the dopest thing about it, you
- 20:42Speaker 6: know what I mean is the fact that you're inviting
- 20:44Speaker 6: people into knowing God.
- 20:46Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 20:46Speaker 6: It, Like you said, it's really not specific. It's just
- 20:49Speaker 6: kind of a conversation starter. So imagine now like when
- 20:53Speaker 6: you walk into a church and it's my God versus
- 20:55Speaker 6: my enemies with a hoodie on, you know what I'm saying.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Like where we've been raised, it's like, yo, you gotta
- 21:00Speaker 6: be suited and booted with your Sunday best, and it's like, nah,
- 21:03Speaker 6: I'm coming as I am, and I'm coming with this
- 21:05Speaker 6: message because the first thing we look at and our
- 21:07Speaker 6: community we know for sure, and that's the reason why
- 21:09Speaker 6: we thought assets of about liabilities would be the perfect model.
- 21:13Speaker 6: Is because we look at what we have on it's
- 21:16Speaker 6: just natural. The first before we get to know a
- 21:18Speaker 6: person's name, before we get to know the background, what
- 21:21Speaker 6: are you wearing? And when you come through with that,
- 21:23Speaker 6: it's like, okay, now we have a conversation.
- 21:26Speaker 2: We can have one.
- 21:27Speaker 3: All right, So starting the clothing line, right, the first
- 21:30Speaker 3: thing I want to ask you is because it reminds
- 21:33Speaker 3: me of like how we started, like the assets over liability.
- 21:36Speaker 3: So we did the askol aliabilities. He was playing around
- 21:39Speaker 3: with different stuff, like different slogans of like because we
- 21:42Speaker 3: knew we have early a Leisure and we want to,
- 21:44Speaker 3: you know, have a brand merch brand that actually represents
- 21:48Speaker 3: Early A Leisia, Right, so I forgot what we came up.
- 21:50Speaker 4: We come up. We was coming with a bunch of.
- 21:53Speaker 3: So I was me and Mike was going back and
- 21:55Speaker 3: forth and I'm like assets over liabilities and he's like
- 21:58Speaker 3: all right. So then he had like my got drawing
- 22:01Speaker 3: and I'm like, nah, I want to like this assets
- 22:04Speaker 3: with the line and then in the middle of the
- 22:06Speaker 3: line over and then on the bottom of that liability.
- 22:09Speaker 3: So it's like assets over liabilities and then the line
- 22:13Speaker 3: and it's literally showing it. So he didn't really like
- 22:15Speaker 3: the idea at first. He's like, nah, should be this
- 22:17Speaker 3: way to but long story show, we agree on it
- 22:20Speaker 3: and it's been a hit and it's actually crazy because
- 22:22Speaker 3: now people is actually stole the idea.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Good thing.
- 22:25Speaker 3: We got a trademark, We sent letters out, so shame
- 22:29Speaker 3: on you if you've done that.
- 22:30Speaker 2: That's part of his that's part of.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Get to that. So how did you all?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Right, so you told us the story about you know,
- 22:40Speaker 3: getting into more into your religion and you decided that
- 22:43Speaker 3: you wanted to kind of.
- 22:44Speaker 4: You know, have God involved in the brand.
- 22:47Speaker 3: So how did the idea my god verse my enemies
- 22:49Speaker 3: and how did you just because that's I don't think
- 22:51Speaker 3: people understand like how you place something that is extremely important.
- 22:54Speaker 4: If I think if it.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Was assets over liabilities but it was not placed how
- 22:58Speaker 3: it is, it wouldn't have been as popular as it's been.
- 23:01Speaker 3: So your your slogan is like it's round, So how
- 23:07Speaker 3: did you come about like actually making that visually look
- 23:11Speaker 3: like that? Like was it a lot of going back
- 23:12Speaker 3: and forth in your head or like what was the process?
- 23:15Speaker 5: Not? You know what? And this very probably like I
- 23:19Speaker 5: might like kick myself in the butte for saying this,
- 23:23Speaker 5: having this conversation, but like at the time, my God
- 23:28Speaker 5: versus My Enemies was like the phrase was what I
- 23:30Speaker 5: came up with. But at the time we were dealing
- 23:33Speaker 5: with I had a graphic designer send me a few
- 23:38Speaker 5: mockups and then of how my God versus My enemies
- 23:41Speaker 5: would be. And one thing that I didn't like about
- 23:46Speaker 5: it was that the my God and my enemies were
- 23:48Speaker 5: the same size. So it to me said that that
- 23:56Speaker 5: my enemies was equal to God, you know what I mean.
- 24:00Speaker 5: So I wanted to make sure I kind of you know,
- 24:02Speaker 5: had them reduced the font. And then also it was
- 24:06Speaker 5: very popular at the time. You that you do guys,
- 24:08Speaker 5: do know it's like Detroit versus everybody they have you
- 24:11Speaker 5: know that that design And but the one thing you
- 24:16Speaker 5: learned in business wise is like, so we went with
- 24:18Speaker 5: my guy versus My enemy with that same the same font,
- 24:22Speaker 5: but just with we did a small change in it
- 24:24Speaker 5: because of me, the enemy smaller, and we ended up
- 24:28Speaker 5: having to deal with a lot of headache from people
- 24:32Speaker 5: from Detroit. It was like, yo, Detroit versus everybody. We
- 24:36Speaker 5: all stole that. It was like, no, there's New York
- 24:40Speaker 5: versus every New York versus.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Everybody got a couple of those joys nobody had.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Nobody had a trademark on any of those things because
- 24:50Speaker 5: you have to. This is where you learn the business. Now,
- 24:53Speaker 5: this is the part where for me, it's something I
- 24:56Speaker 5: have conversations with people about. Is just learning. Like like
- 25:00Speaker 5: before you put out, people always hit me you know
- 25:02Speaker 5: I have this design. I'm like, no, don't want to
- 25:04Speaker 5: hear it. Let's sign this NDA first, and then we
- 25:06Speaker 5: got a conversation because no one's gonna say I stole
- 25:09Speaker 5: your idea, you know what I mean? Anything. People always
- 25:11Speaker 5: come with me ideas that they think is dope for
- 25:13Speaker 5: my brand or even for their brand. But if it's
- 25:16Speaker 5: anything faith based, I don't want to have a conversation
- 25:18Speaker 5: about it without an NDA because these are stuff that
- 25:21Speaker 5: you learn.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Non disclosure agreement. Can you talk about that a little
- 25:26Speaker 3: bit for somebody I might not know what the NDA is.
- 25:28Speaker 5: It's just protective of both parties. You have a conversation,
- 25:32Speaker 5: you detail it, small words of what the conversation is about,
- 25:36Speaker 5: and just protect you, you know what I mean, because
- 25:40Speaker 5: you know I've definitely had conversations with people like people.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Somebody will come to me and say, yo, you should
- 25:45Speaker 5: come out with a God is God is Good shirt,
- 25:49Speaker 5: and I'm like, I have one that says God is good,
- 25:52Speaker 5: and we scratched out the good and put God is great.
- 25:55Speaker 5: But it's like when you put that out, they're like, yo,
- 25:58Speaker 5: I told.
- 25:58Speaker 2: You about that, right I was.
- 26:00Speaker 4: God is good.
- 26:01Speaker 5: It's a very common phrase, so the NDA and the like.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Then people starts talking about you behind your back, like, nah,
- 26:09Speaker 5: I told him that design and he and I see
- 26:12Speaker 5: everybody wearing he ain't you. He should have gave me
- 26:14Speaker 5: some bread And I'm like, no, we're not gonna do that,
- 26:18Speaker 5: Like you know what I mean. I just but I
- 26:19Speaker 5: had to learn that the hardway, though, Like you know
- 26:21Speaker 5: what I mean. The way I learned that the hardway
- 26:23Speaker 5: is just having to hear people tell me ideas. I
- 26:26Speaker 5: was always open my ears to people talking to me
- 26:29Speaker 5: about different ideas. But now you just have to be
- 26:31Speaker 5: protective of how you allow people to, you know, engage
- 26:35Speaker 5: with you. When it comes to business, you can't like
- 26:37Speaker 5: that's one thing I'm not. You know, you're not a
- 26:39Speaker 5: party from You're not just a party promoter. You're not
- 26:41Speaker 5: just an actor anymore. You're a businessman. And that's just
- 26:44Speaker 5: like something I had to learn as far as business.
- 26:47Speaker 5: You have to move very business like or else people
- 26:49Speaker 5: will treat you like a peasant.
- 26:52Speaker 3: So all right, so you so you so you start that,
- 26:55Speaker 3: you get a little backlash, which from the from the
- 26:58Speaker 3: Detroit community shot out to Detroit. So you trademarked, do
- 27:04Speaker 3: you trademark that?
- 27:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I trade my guy versus miaenemies.
- 27:08Speaker 3: And you trademarked it for merch That's something that we
- 27:09Speaker 3: told a while. So a lot of people don't realize,
- 27:11Speaker 3: like when you trademark something, you can trademark it for
- 27:13Speaker 3: a variety of different things.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Like so it's like it's for.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Media, it's for apparel, it's for you know, radio, Like
- 27:21Speaker 3: it's so some things you have it trademarked for one
- 27:25Speaker 3: or two, but you don't trademarking for like thirty different things.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Right, and different countries.
- 27:29Speaker 6: Right, So we could do this in the US, but
- 27:31Speaker 6: somebody in France might say, you know, we're gonna do
- 27:34Speaker 6: it here. So not only do you have to do
- 27:36Speaker 6: it in the US, but you have to do.
- 27:37Speaker 4: It in almost It's a whole problem a lot.
- 27:39Speaker 6: I mean a lot of countries, like if you want
- 27:41Speaker 6: to keep yourself protected, which is it's tough and it's expensive.
- 27:45Speaker 5: So you trade and it's expensive. I learned the hard way.
- 27:49Speaker 5: I learned that the hard way too.
- 27:52Speaker 6: I heard that that you did you put out the
- 27:54Speaker 6: merch before trademarking it, because I heard.
- 27:56Speaker 5: That merge before trademarking. And this is where I always
- 28:01Speaker 5: always lean into when I talk to people about like
- 28:04Speaker 5: you know, you know, God can't bless you onto you're ready,
- 28:09Speaker 5: like you know what I mean. And I was moving
- 28:11Speaker 5: before God because I had the design, but I was
- 28:14Speaker 5: like I should go for this trademark. I'm like, nah,
- 28:17Speaker 5: it's hot. Wait, I need to put this out now,
- 28:19Speaker 5: I need to get this money. Man the process after that,
- 28:23Speaker 5: because once I put it out, it was such a
- 28:25Speaker 5: catchy joint. And when MB started wearing it a lot
- 28:28Speaker 5: on the Breakfast Club, then people just was making it
- 28:32Speaker 5: on Amazon. It was making a different fonds, it was
- 28:34Speaker 5: making a different designs, and so when I did file
- 28:38Speaker 5: for a trademark, it was like, Yo, we see this
- 28:41Speaker 5: everywhere already somebody selling my Amazon somebody. Now now you
- 28:45Speaker 5: have to go through this whole process that costs thousands
- 28:50Speaker 5: of dollars. Like I literally can say we spent maybe
- 28:54Speaker 5: twenty thousand dollars in trademarking fees.
- 28:57Speaker 3: So so think you don't what was the process that
- 29:01Speaker 3: you that you had to go through.
- 29:03Speaker 5: I went through a law firm, So.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I mean to trademarkt or to get the other people
- 29:08Speaker 4: to stop selling.
- 29:09Speaker 2: This season desist types of what call.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Well, let me start with the I started with the
- 29:14Speaker 5: trademark process. I started with a law firm, something I
- 29:17Speaker 5: will never recommend to anyone to go through a law firm. Instead,
- 29:21Speaker 5: you can find you a specific trademark lawyer that can
- 29:26Speaker 5: take the time and has the focus because a lot
- 29:29Speaker 5: of and there are trademark lawyers that have big clients
- 29:31Speaker 5: and a lot going on. It's not a hard process
- 29:35Speaker 5: for somebody who's into trademarking. What you do have to
- 29:38Speaker 5: find somebody at the time that possibly can put the
- 29:40Speaker 5: time and focus into your specific brand because people will
- 29:44Speaker 5: bill you for hours. Like I literally did not know though,
- 29:48Speaker 5: Like I was just like hopping on a call. I'm like,
- 29:51Speaker 5: I hit the lawyer email. Can we hop on a
- 29:53Speaker 5: call on Tuesday at four o'clock? I'm like cool, next
- 29:56Speaker 5: thing you know, we're on a call for two hours,
- 29:59Speaker 5: and next thing I know, at the end of the month,
- 30:01Speaker 5: I look at the bill. It's like two hours having
- 30:04Speaker 5: a conversation with your lawyer four thousand dollars. I'm like,
- 30:07Speaker 5: what it's like they're asking you these questions that you
- 30:11Speaker 5: don't realize. They're billing you for every single thing. So
- 30:14Speaker 5: we're gonna file for We're going to file for this
- 30:17Speaker 5: particular item, and we're going to make sure that we're
- 30:20Speaker 5: able to use it on hats, sweatsuits, socks and these
- 30:25Speaker 5: different types of patents. And I'm like, sure, no problem.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Now they're charging for every single thing that they're filing for.
- 30:32Speaker 5: But that whole process twenty thousand dollars down the dream
- 30:37Speaker 5: because the process started and the lawyer, which just got
- 30:40Speaker 5: so busy because he was never really getting back to me.
- 30:42Speaker 5: I had to follow up. And this is where like
- 30:44Speaker 5: when I talk about advising people about something like this,
- 30:47Speaker 5: find you a trademark lawyer that can specify and this
- 30:51Speaker 5: like literally deal with you one on one. This person
- 30:54Speaker 5: is a lawyer who's probably working during the day doing
- 30:57Speaker 5: big corporations, but they're also at home, you know, handling
- 31:00Speaker 5: small you know, small businesses, you know what I mean,
- 31:04Speaker 5: it's not hard to find. If you really look for
- 31:06Speaker 5: a small business trademark lawyer, they're out there. And this
- 31:09Speaker 5: is the part, like you know I told you about that,
- 31:10Speaker 5: I don't know. That's that's if you don't know, you
- 31:13Speaker 5: know you posted in your story, You'll get so many
- 31:17Speaker 5: feedbacks like I don't I'm not. I tell people all
- 31:19Speaker 5: the time, I'm not the smartest person in the world,
- 31:21Speaker 5: but I have no problem saying I don't know. If
- 31:24Speaker 5: I don't understand or know something or know someone, it
- 31:27Speaker 5: doesn't take me much. I'll post something and say, Yo,
- 31:30Speaker 5: anybody got a plug to this person?
- 31:31Speaker 4: Why?
- 31:31Speaker 5: Because you know they'll It just helps facilitate it faster.
- 31:36Speaker 4: So what was the process to get people to stop
- 31:38Speaker 4: selling it?
- 31:39Speaker 5: Ah? That process the season desists. I mean, you know
- 31:44Speaker 5: what TeamWorks. That was the biggest thing. Now, once you
- 31:49Speaker 5: get to a certain point and your brand is moving,
- 31:51Speaker 5: you have a lot of things in place. Now you
- 31:53Speaker 5: realize that you have to focus your energy on you know,
- 31:58Speaker 5: making sure you don't focus on any on too many
- 32:01Speaker 5: of the little things by yourself. That's why you get
- 32:03Speaker 5: people around you that are stronger. So at first I
- 32:08Speaker 5: was like I was sending these emails. I would sit
- 32:10Speaker 5: up to six in the morning sending the seas and
- 32:13Speaker 5: to sits out myself. You know, I'd have the lawyer,
- 32:16Speaker 5: I'd have the letter. At that point, I was getting
- 32:18Speaker 5: the letter from my low earners.
- 32:21Speaker 2: What's up.
- 32:22Speaker 6: You ever walk into a small business and everything just
- 32:24Speaker 6: works like The checkout is fast, the re seats are digital,
- 32:28Speaker 6: tipping is a breeze, and you're out the door before
- 32:31Speaker 6: the line even builds odds are they're using Square. We
- 32:35Speaker 6: love supporting businesses that run on Square because it just

- 33:34Speaker 6: work are boring, and sure they definitely can be, but
- 33:38Speaker 6: understanding a professionals routine shows us how they achieve their
- 33:41Speaker 6: success little by little, day after day. It's like banking
- 33:45Speaker 6: with P and C Bank. It might seem boring to save,
- 33:48Speaker 6: plan and make calculated decisions with your bank, but keeping

- 34:11Speaker 1: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 34:15Speaker 1: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 34:19Speaker 1: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 34:23Speaker 1: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 34:27Speaker 1: some of the heinous migrant criminals. Caught because of President
- 34:31Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom the United States
- 34:35Speaker 1: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 34:39Speaker 1: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 34:43Speaker 1: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 34:46Speaker 1: are here illegally, your next you will be fine nearly
- 34:50Speaker 1: one thousand dollars a day. Imprisoned and deported, you will
- 34:54Speaker 1: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 34:58Speaker 1: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws,
- 35:07Speaker 1: border and families will be protected.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Employer because they were still trying to file it for me.
- 35:14Speaker 5: That's what the big firm, and it was still give me.
- 35:16Speaker 5: Since the thing was in process, you could still send
- 35:18Speaker 5: cease and desists. So I was sending cease and desists
- 35:21Speaker 5: to different people and companies. But now it's like, Yo,
- 35:25Speaker 5: you see somebody with my guy versus my enemy shirt
- 35:28Speaker 5: that's bedazzled with like like I got from Brooklyn at
- 35:33Speaker 5: thet King. I think it's what is the Kingsbridge mall?
- 35:36Speaker 5: Is that?
- 35:37Speaker 2: Keep on taking it?
- 35:38Speaker 5: Man?
- 35:38Speaker 2: Brooklyn keep on taking.
- 35:39Speaker 4: It so much.
- 35:43Speaker 5: But then it got to the point that I realized, like,
- 35:46Speaker 5: as long as I can deal with the online stuff,
- 35:48Speaker 5: I'm not to be honest, these foot traffickers. It's it's
- 35:52Speaker 5: still more awareness to the brand, you know what I mean, Like,
- 35:55Speaker 5: I'm not sitting here like if I spend so I
- 35:58Speaker 5: spent so much time. I realized after a while, I
- 36:00Speaker 5: spend so much time in focused on trying to send
- 36:04Speaker 5: ceasing desists and deal with this. It takes away from
- 36:07Speaker 5: the brand, which you really the goal, Like you're spending
- 36:10Speaker 5: all this money on doing that when really, I mean,
- 36:14Speaker 5: it's important to do, but it's also important to spend
- 36:17Speaker 5: time on making sure everything is aligned within your brand.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's something that people aren't aware of. You
- 36:23Speaker 3: can send ceasing desists letters even if you don't have
- 36:26Speaker 3: the official trademark yet, if it's in process, if it's pending.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Once it's in process, you send that email, and people
- 36:33Speaker 5: automatically gonna take it down. They see it. They don't
- 36:35Speaker 5: want to get sued if the wording is right. It's
- 36:38Speaker 5: if it sounds threatening enough. You know, I've gotten this,
- 36:42Speaker 5: you know, speaking of like you know, when I used
- 36:44Speaker 5: to take pictures. I've gotten a cease and desist because
- 36:46Speaker 5: I took a picture of I took a picture of
- 36:49Speaker 5: jay Z at this bowling event, and like, I got
- 36:52Speaker 5: a ceasing desist from his lawyer. We're going to sue you.
- 36:54Speaker 5: It's twenty thousand dollars.
- 36:55Speaker 3: I deleted that thing so bad, and everybody out there ideas, shame.
- 37:02Speaker 6: On you, remain anonymous on you.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Shame shame, shame man be original, all right.
- 37:10Speaker 3: So so so what's the process to actually manufacture the
- 37:15Speaker 3: merge though? Because this is something that like us, we
- 37:18Speaker 3: use online print foal, but now we're kind of switching
- 37:22Speaker 3: that to actually getting physical merch. A it's a higher
- 37:26Speaker 3: profit margin and B you have control over like shipping.
- 37:28Speaker 3: You don't got to wait for somebody a third party
- 37:32Speaker 3: to shipping for that.
- 37:33Speaker 6: That's kind of the dilemma. Now it's like a pandemic
- 37:35Speaker 6: has delayed everything. So it's now like a month behind,
- 37:37Speaker 6: where if we could have just shipped out ourselves, we
- 37:39Speaker 6: saved the time and a headache from people like hey,
- 37:41Speaker 6: where's the merch, but we can put it out.
- 37:43Speaker 3: The problem with that is that now you got to
- 37:45Speaker 3: spend the money up front exactly and now you gotta
- 37:47Speaker 3: warehouse hit. So now you got to turn your living
- 37:49Speaker 3: room into a warehouse with boxes of hoodies?
- 37:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I think and the create I'm glad you went
- 37:55Speaker 6: right there because when I was looking, I'm like listening
- 37:57Speaker 6: to the story, reading about your story, You're like, what
- 37:59Speaker 6: are some of the downfalls you got stuck with a
- 38:02Speaker 6: bag of merch?
- 38:02Speaker 2: Right, let's get into that a little bit.
- 38:05Speaker 5: So which part where you want me to start from?
- 38:08Speaker 6: How you got Yeah, learning about being left with the
- 38:12Speaker 6: abundance of inventory.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Yeah, that's I mean, that's just part of the game. Man.
- 38:18Speaker 5: You gotta you live and you learn, and then you
- 38:21Speaker 5: figure out like how to deal with those situations. Like
- 38:26Speaker 5: I've definitely even before this pandemic, you know, I didn't
- 38:31Speaker 5: operate off faith in that time because I literally I
- 38:35Speaker 5: was probably one of my friends that was in a
- 38:37Speaker 5: group chat like sending all these like fear messages like yo,
- 38:40Speaker 5: go food shopping time.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Oh were you one of the people that said my cousin,
- 38:46Speaker 3: I just got worried my cousin works.
- 38:47Speaker 4: At the Pentagon? Yeah, it was.
- 38:50Speaker 3: I'm like, how many black people have family members with
- 38:54Speaker 3: seven clearances and at Pentagon? Like if I had one
- 38:58Speaker 3: more person, like I just got a word from my
- 39:00Speaker 3: cousin that works in four weeks.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Shout the Clarence at the Pentagon though.
- 39:06Speaker 5: Shout out the Clarence. I mean, I've had a screenshot
- 39:09Speaker 5: of it, but I definitely had people like yo, they
- 39:12Speaker 5: gonna have Marshall law. Yo.
- 39:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 39:14Speaker 5: That was at the end of the that movie with
- 39:16Speaker 5: Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington like yo. So I'm like, yo,
- 39:20Speaker 5: go shopping, food shopping. I'm wild at that point. Now
- 39:23Speaker 5: my brain is like, hold up, you just ordered all this.
- 39:28Speaker 5: You just ordered all these hoodies, and I should wait.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I went to the printer. I said, don't print yet,
- 39:37Speaker 5: because at least worst case scenario, you can always ship
- 39:41Speaker 5: it back to the wholesale company purchased it from. Then
- 39:45Speaker 5: they're gonna charge your repackaging fore versus actually printing all
- 39:49Speaker 5: these all us these hoodies and stuff like that, and
- 39:53Speaker 5: then you don't get it till after the pandemic is over,
- 39:57Speaker 5: and now you're stuck with all this merch. So I
- 40:00Speaker 5: didn't operate out faith. But what I learned in this pandemic,
- 40:03Speaker 5: people are still shopping, people are still buying. People are
- 40:07Speaker 5: I bought a hoodie I'm not gonna say how much
- 40:09Speaker 5: your costs supporting another brand, but I bought it and
- 40:12Speaker 5: I where was I wearing it to? But it's like
- 40:17Speaker 5: there's no like real there's no real determination on like
- 40:20Speaker 5: when this thing is going to be over. But you
- 40:23Speaker 5: know what I mean, I think a lot of people,
- 40:25Speaker 5: a lot of people that are maybe essential workers, that
- 40:28Speaker 5: are still working from home. Like you know, the income
- 40:31Speaker 5: didn't actually change, They're just spending less money outside while moving,
- 40:36Speaker 5: so you end up engaging in online shopping, you know
- 40:41Speaker 5: what I mean. It's a lot of online shopping going
- 40:43Speaker 5: on right now. So but when I first started, Like
- 40:47Speaker 5: for me, when I tell because I know you did
- 40:49Speaker 5: ask that when it came to like starting, I chose
- 40:52Speaker 5: to do my own shipping. I do my own shipping.
- 40:56Speaker 5: My living rooms. The my living room is definitely the
- 40:59Speaker 5: wayhouse and packaging. Got my mom on shipping. That's what
- 41:04Speaker 5: she does, that's her job. You know, my mom's retired now,
- 41:09Speaker 5: so you know, I just have to cut her check.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Every company my brother is also My brother is also
- 41:18Speaker 5: the president. He definitely is number two to me when
- 41:20Speaker 5: it comes to the company he handles. He is the
- 41:24Speaker 5: whatever I don't know, he definitely knows, you know what
- 41:27Speaker 5: I mean. If he wasn't, like he's currently like in
- 41:29Speaker 5: PA right now, he's working from home, but he's normally
- 41:33Speaker 5: down this way. But I would have definitely had him
- 41:35Speaker 5: on here to kind of like talk on some detailed
- 41:37Speaker 5: questions if they did come up. But yeah, yeah, we
- 41:41Speaker 5: do all the other shipping from home. And great thing
- 41:44Speaker 5: I learned is so crazy three years running. I learned
- 41:47Speaker 5: how to ship during the pandemic. Like that's something I
- 41:50Speaker 5: didn't know, you know what I mean. But at the
- 41:52Speaker 5: same time, when it comes to running a brand, you
- 41:54Speaker 5: also learn you don't have to do everything, you know
- 41:57Speaker 5: what I mean. Like that's so time consuming and sets
- 42:00Speaker 5: a lot of people back because a lot of people
- 42:02Speaker 5: get so busy, busy with their they get so busy
- 42:07Speaker 5: that they kill their business, you know what I mean.
- 42:08Speaker 4: How many items are you shipping a month? On average?
- 42:14Speaker 5: Per month right now, we're averaging about I want to say,
- 42:20Speaker 5: twenty five hundred items. It started with T shirts and shirts,
- 42:27Speaker 5: merged into hoodies, hats, dad hats, sweatsuits. Finally we you know,
- 42:34Speaker 5: it's it's just an overall process. But yeah, we even
- 42:38Speaker 5: now we're getting to more merchandising, which is it's like
- 42:41Speaker 5: you you really like if you don't. One thing I've
- 42:44Speaker 5: learned is that I have to continuously keep evolving, you
- 42:48Speaker 5: know what I mean, because there's so much when it
- 42:51Speaker 5: comes to this stuff that a lot of people are
- 42:52Speaker 5: interested in, you know what I mean. People just love opportunity.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Everybody's not outside wearing hoodies and sweatshirts. Some people are
- 42:58Speaker 5: driving and they just want to stick on their card
- 43:00Speaker 5: that says my God versus my enemies, you know what
- 43:03Speaker 5: I mean. Some people just want people want signs in
- 43:06Speaker 5: front of their house. Instead of saying, you know, Biden
- 43:10Speaker 5: for a president, it says God for like you know,
- 43:13Speaker 5: God for president. Oh, my God versus my enemy on
- 43:16Speaker 5: their lawn, you know what I mean. So it's learning that,
- 43:19Speaker 5: like you just constantly, like we're constantly in the space
- 43:21Speaker 5: of evolving with that.
- 43:23Speaker 6: Yeah, so Body of God is the company, but my
- 43:26Speaker 6: God versus Miami's is the most popular item.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Thing is I didn't get a chance to correct you
- 43:31Speaker 5: guys in the beginning, Body of God is the is
- 43:33Speaker 5: the instagram for the company. That's when we started off.
- 43:36Speaker 5: Another trademark. Thing I learned Body of God was a
- 43:39Speaker 5: company I started, and then I, you know, I ll
- 43:43Speaker 5: seed it, which at that time, like I said, I
- 43:45Speaker 5: didn't know. I thought you ll seed it. I thought,
- 43:48Speaker 5: you know, the state would be like, no, somebody else
- 43:51Speaker 5: has this, No that's false. They'll let you llc your company,
- 43:54Speaker 5: but does not mean that it's trademark. So then when
- 43:56Speaker 5: I went to trademark Body of God clothing, there was like,
- 44:00Speaker 5: oh there's a company. There's a fitness company called Body
- 44:03Speaker 5: of God. I said, oh my god, So I can't
- 44:05Speaker 5: do that. So I changed it to Cover by God Clothing.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Oh God, I got it.
- 44:09Speaker 6: So are there any more slogans that are coming down
- 44:11Speaker 6: the pipeline from the brand?
- 44:14Speaker 5: Yeah? Absolutely, we have the they Hated Jesus Too, which
- 44:17Speaker 5: we trade, which we ended up trademarking. Also another thing
- 44:20Speaker 5: I learned, you don't have to trademark everything. That's realistically,
- 44:25Speaker 5: don't have to trademark everything. And when it comes to
- 44:29Speaker 5: this clothing up power company, like you know what I mean,
- 44:33Speaker 5: it's like there are certain things that are gonna hit,
- 44:35Speaker 5: certain things are for a moment, you know what I mean.
- 44:37Speaker 5: It just depends on you how far you want to
- 44:39Speaker 5: take a certain item, you know what I mean? Because
- 44:42Speaker 5: no matter what, people are gonna copy what you're doing. Like,
- 44:45Speaker 5: how can you really stop if big companies like H
- 44:48Speaker 5: and M are well, I think H and them is
- 44:50Speaker 5: still open, but they're producing items that look like Gucci,
- 44:54Speaker 5: you know what I mean? Like, how do you stop
- 44:56Speaker 5: stuff like that? You know what I mean? At this point?
- 44:58Speaker 5: Like for me, once you put so much much energy
- 45:00Speaker 5: and focus into that, you kind of like move away
- 45:03Speaker 5: from the purpose. Like my purpose with the brand is
- 45:06Speaker 5: to still be able to pour into our communities and
- 45:09Speaker 5: partner it up with the different nonprofits, you know what
- 45:12Speaker 5: I mean, That's the real goal for me.
- 45:14Speaker 3: So marketing, that's that's the biggest thing. Right, How did
- 45:19Speaker 3: you were How were you able? Because twenty five hundred
- 45:22Speaker 3: items a month, that's a lot of merch that you
- 45:24Speaker 3: that you're moving. So how were you able to move
- 45:27Speaker 3: it from one T shirt to selling twenty five hundred
- 45:31Speaker 3: items a month?
- 45:32Speaker 4: What was the marketing plan?
- 45:34Speaker 5: I just learned marketing, keep it a real one hundred thousand.
- 45:40Speaker 5: I didn't know that outside of I So when I
- 45:44Speaker 5: first started, I was I was out out the house
- 45:47Speaker 5: at five am in the morning, back home by two
- 45:50Speaker 5: three am in the morning, because I was like I'm
- 45:53Speaker 5: going wherever. I'm like, I'm follow everybody. You're doing a
- 45:57Speaker 5: book signing here, I'm pulling up. What's the up? Got
- 46:00Speaker 5: this merch for you? I was very hands on with
- 46:04Speaker 5: making sure I was networking with every single person, whether
- 46:08Speaker 5: you are a rapper, whether you're a pastor, whether you're
- 46:11Speaker 5: an influencer. I'm pulling up on you wherever you are.
- 46:14Speaker 5: That's that's the I would call that the gorilla marketing. Yeah,
- 46:21Speaker 5: guerrilla marketing, say, I was going to use that term today.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you are the street team.
- 46:27Speaker 6: When you're pulling up, you're just giving the merch away, right,
- 46:29Speaker 6: We're not are we charging people at this point.
- 46:31Speaker 5: That's originally that's even now to this day. Give it away.
- 46:35Speaker 5: It's still like my that's my that's my personal slogan
- 46:38Speaker 5: when it comes to the merch or fin finances. We're
- 46:42Speaker 5: giving it away because you can't hold onto this stuff.
- 46:44Speaker 5: You can hold onto it all you want, and you
- 46:46Speaker 5: could be stuck with it during the pandemic. Like so
- 46:49Speaker 5: I was definitely pulling up and just giving it away,
- 46:51Speaker 5: like you know what I mean. Like sometimes you'll pull
- 46:53Speaker 5: up on people, security stops you and they're like nah,
- 46:56Speaker 5: fam he don't want it, I'm like, all right cool,
- 46:58Speaker 5: what's your side security guard? What's your size?
- 47:02Speaker 4: Bro?
- 47:02Speaker 5: I said, I got one of these hoodies for you.
- 47:04Speaker 5: They're like, yeah, it's so good, and they like give
- 47:07Speaker 5: me their even their address, and I'm like, I'm gonna
- 47:09Speaker 5: ship it to you. What's your phone number? Take the
- 47:10Speaker 5: phone number. Next thing you know, I text them like
- 47:13Speaker 5: a week later, did you get your yo? Good looking
- 47:15Speaker 5: bro Yo. We're gonna be at what you call it
- 47:17Speaker 5: if you want to pull up and I make sure.
- 47:19Speaker 5: I'm like allright cool. So it's like consistent, like you
- 47:22Speaker 5: always got to like do the homework. I'm not taking
- 47:25Speaker 5: no as an answer. If if the if you feel
- 47:28Speaker 5: like the artist or the celebrity or the influencer or
- 47:32Speaker 5: that pastor is not gonna want it cool or that
- 47:34Speaker 5: or anybody who doesn't want it, I'm gonna find a
- 47:36Speaker 5: way to get it to you, regardless.
- 47:38Speaker 3: What you What you just said was extremely important and
- 47:41Speaker 3: I don't want that to over people said. Because I
- 47:43Speaker 3: remember going back to Mike. We was in La years
- 47:46Speaker 3: ago and we was trying to get into a club
- 47:50Speaker 3: and we were new the promoter.
- 47:52Speaker 4: The dj A.
- 47:53Speaker 3: So you try to get into the club. Right, the
- 47:55Speaker 3: first person you think of as a promoter, second person
- 47:58Speaker 3: you think of is DJ. You might even think about
- 48:01Speaker 3: bottle service girl. If they you know, pretty popular. You
- 48:04Speaker 3: kind of just run it down from there, right, And
- 48:06Speaker 3: he was He told me something that I never forgot.
- 48:08Speaker 3: He was like the most in person. He's like, you
- 48:09Speaker 3: know who the most important person is in the club,
- 48:12Speaker 3: And I'm like who? And I named all those different people.
- 48:15Speaker 3: He was like the most important person in security, the
- 48:19Speaker 3: person at the front door, front line, because they you
- 48:22Speaker 3: go to clubs all the time, you pay security to
- 48:23Speaker 3: get in, Like security, they really controlling.
- 48:26Speaker 4: It's like stuff like that.
- 48:27Speaker 3: And Sam Rosstein said that in casino, he said the
- 48:30Speaker 3: most important person in Vegas was not the big bosses
- 48:34Speaker 3: and all that the most important person was the valet
- 48:36Speaker 3: parker because they knew everybody. They was like the conduent.
- 48:39Speaker 3: So a lot of times with networking we look past
- 48:43Speaker 3: the most important person. Like you're trying to get to
- 48:45Speaker 3: the celebrity, but his security is a person that you
- 48:48Speaker 3: can talk to. Right, It's like you're trying to meet
- 48:51Speaker 3: this person, but why not just start with their driver?
- 48:55Speaker 3: The driver sees them every single day where they're going exactly.
- 48:59Speaker 5: And that's that's I'm currently I haven't even actually finished
- 49:02Speaker 5: the book. I don't know if you guys read it.
- 49:03Speaker 5: The Third Door, but that just talks about like and
- 49:08Speaker 5: specifically they bring up the club. They use the club
- 49:10Speaker 5: as a example, like there's the front door that you
- 49:14Speaker 5: walk in and you get online, there's the VIP entrance,
- 49:18Speaker 5: and then the third one is by any means necessary,
- 49:21Speaker 5: if I got to come through the kitchen, if I
- 49:23Speaker 5: got to come through the back door, if I got
- 49:25Speaker 5: to come through the back door using walking in, whatever
- 49:28Speaker 5: it is you have to do to get in these rooms,
- 49:30Speaker 5: you have to use that third door no matter what.
- 49:33Speaker 5: So once I figure out, like that's always been part
- 49:36Speaker 5: of my game plan and trying to make sure I
- 49:38Speaker 5: get stuff to people, figuring out what the third door is,
- 49:41Speaker 5: you know what I mean. First door is walking up
- 49:43Speaker 5: on somebody. It's like you know what I mean, you
- 49:44Speaker 5: know where they're going to be you pull up. The
- 49:46Speaker 5: second one may be like, oh, I have a family
- 49:49Speaker 5: member or a friend that's cool with them. The third
- 49:51Speaker 5: door is, man, I see that's their Uber driver right
- 49:55Speaker 5: there sitting across the street and be like, look I
- 49:58Speaker 5: came downstairs and I was told to leave his bag
- 50:00Speaker 5: for what you call it? Just let him know elected
- 50:02Speaker 5: in the card form. Next thing you know, my card
- 50:04Speaker 5: is in there, My Instagram is in there, and I'm
- 50:07Speaker 5: getting a d M from x y Z like think
- 50:10Speaker 5: you got your merch. I'll tag you in it when
- 50:12Speaker 5: I what you call it. Now. On top of that,
- 50:14Speaker 5: I've also opened the DM door, because you know, the
- 50:17Speaker 5: DM door is not hard to there's that third part
- 50:21Speaker 5: of your d M where you have all these requests
- 50:24Speaker 5: sitting from different people. Once they've responded back to you,
- 50:29Speaker 5: now it's free flowing conversations.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you in you in the trusted circle once the
- 50:35Speaker 3: first response.
- 50:36Speaker 2: In the general. Once you get to the general got
- 50:40Speaker 2: a chance.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Population, you got a chance.
- 50:42Speaker 6: So I mean, I'm sure your days is being a
- 50:44Speaker 6: party promoter has helped you with the security.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Part, right.
- 50:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:48Speaker 6: So who was the first I guess Celebritant that you
- 50:52Speaker 6: saw when wearing the merged that really took it off.
- 50:55Speaker 6: I know, Envy War, but was there somebody before him
- 50:57Speaker 6: or was was that the transition?
- 51:00Speaker 5: Envy was the first one that really had me Like
- 51:04Speaker 5: I saw it and I was like, yes.
- 51:06Speaker 3: So let's talk about that. Shot to MV he's an
- 51:09Speaker 3: e y. He came on our show.
- 51:12Speaker 5: Yeah I saw that. Yeah, I remember, like actually now
- 51:16Speaker 5: just remember Mike sendmea send me a message out. It
- 51:20Speaker 5: was like, it was like, it's crazy. I got Envy
- 51:23Speaker 5: on him before you. I was like, Yo, that's what
- 51:27Speaker 5: shot folks.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Yeah, shot to envy him and Caesar came on and
- 51:33Speaker 3: so yeah, I mean obviously being on a radio everything,
- 51:36Speaker 3: I was seeing him wearing that.
- 51:38Speaker 4: I didn't even know what it was. I just see him.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Wear every day.
- 51:40Speaker 3: So how did how did that come about? Because all
- 51:43Speaker 3: it takes is really one really powerful influencer to really
- 51:47Speaker 3: changed everything if you think about it. We see that
- 51:50Speaker 3: with Diddy and Sara. A couple of different scenarios we
- 51:52Speaker 3: can name. So how did that come about? As far
- 51:54Speaker 3: as like getting Envy involved in a situation?
- 51:57Speaker 5: Yo? You know the crazy things. I get MV one
- 52:00Speaker 5: shirt right, shout out to my home just like did
- 52:02Speaker 5: you know them? Or oh, party promoting one door. It's
- 52:07Speaker 5: all part of.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Planet yeah, see full circle, party rovoting.
- 52:11Speaker 5: I was always booking Indy, you know what I mean.
- 52:13Speaker 5: I was always booking Envy for different clubs. So we
- 52:16Speaker 5: had like I had to call our relationship at that point.
- 52:20Speaker 5: I was like I was probably in his like M
- 52:24Speaker 5: list of friends, you know, on level M at that point,
- 52:30Speaker 5: just like you know, it's just really business. So it's
- 52:32Speaker 5: just like, you know, I hit him up and I
- 52:33Speaker 5: had his number to hit him directly, and you know,
- 52:36Speaker 5: sometimes you try to maintain rapport with people just for
- 52:39Speaker 5: for the sake of like business, like you so you
- 52:41Speaker 5: can be like, you know, as a party promoter, you're
- 52:43Speaker 5: talking to your friends, like, yeah, I was talking to
- 52:44Speaker 5: V today. They're like he was talking ten years ago though,
- 52:49Speaker 5: like when MB was just like the DJ on the
- 52:51Speaker 5: you know radio, and when it was before the even
- 52:53Speaker 5: a breakfast club. It was just like, you know, we
- 52:54Speaker 5: had no envy for the mixtapes so and and things
- 52:58Speaker 5: like that. So yeah, I gave him one shirt and
- 53:02Speaker 5: then he would wear the one shirt like numerous times
- 53:06Speaker 5: to the breakfast stuff, to the point that I remember
- 53:08Speaker 5: one time I saw that like the shirt had a
- 53:09Speaker 5: lean on it. I was like, nah, yo, I got
- 53:11Speaker 5: to get envy another shirt, yo. So then I had
- 53:15Speaker 5: that Eureka moment and I was like, oh, snap, what
- 53:20Speaker 5: if I asked MVY to rock out with me? And
- 53:23Speaker 5: kind of like you know, even partner up for like
- 53:25Speaker 5: a percentages of the company or something like that, you
- 53:27Speaker 5: know what I mean, Let's see what we could do. Then.
- 53:30Speaker 5: I also remember that one thing I said, like, you
- 53:33Speaker 5: cannot if God blesses you with something, you can't make
- 53:37Speaker 5: a decision and just say ah, cool, I'm giving it
- 53:40Speaker 5: away or I'm doing something without moving first with God.
- 53:43Speaker 5: So I prayed on it right, prayed on it, went
- 53:46Speaker 5: to sleep. That was a Thursday, Friday morning, six thirty am.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Phone rings to my friend Charisma. She works, she's very
- 53:54Speaker 5: she works very closely with Envy at the time. She's
- 53:59Speaker 5: like yo, and be said, hit me up, hit them up,
- 54:02Speaker 5: and just to have a conversation about working with you
- 54:04Speaker 5: on the brand. And I was like, you know, that's
- 54:07Speaker 5: all God, because it was just a thought. So in
- 54:11Speaker 5: that same token, like just you know, pressing that conversation
- 54:15Speaker 5: with people, is that like thoughts, the same conversation everybody knows,
- 54:19Speaker 5: thoughts become things like what you think? Can manifesto start
- 54:23Speaker 5: once you start vibrating on a higher level, You know
- 54:27Speaker 5: what I mean? If I sit here, I feel like
- 54:30Speaker 5: I totally could manifest a meatless burger coming to me
- 54:35Speaker 5: right now, because my brother probably went to the store
- 54:38Speaker 5: and was like, yo, I bought two sandwiches, just because
- 54:41Speaker 5: I think sometimes a lot of these things come to
- 54:44Speaker 5: come to fruition. So that's that's kind of like how
- 54:48Speaker 5: me and Envy's partnership began from then on.
- 54:52Speaker 3: Dope Dope and so yeah, I mean I like that.
- 54:54Speaker 3: You know that's another thing too. You can't be greedy
- 54:56Speaker 3: in business, and it's like, you see an opportunity to
- 54:58Speaker 3: bring Envy on as a big business partner.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Like why not. Obviously he has a huge platform and
- 55:04Speaker 4: he can help.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Grow the brand just wearing it and then also promoting
- 55:08Speaker 3: with his celebrity friends. A lot of times we think
- 55:11Speaker 3: too small minded and we want like one hundred percent
- 55:14Speaker 3: of something, where it's like giving away a part of
- 55:17Speaker 3: it to grow it actually makes sense.
- 55:19Speaker 2: A lot of it's humbling too.
- 55:21Speaker 6: Did ego ever come up in that relationship, because at
- 55:23Speaker 6: a certain point, if I felt like, damn, this is
- 55:25Speaker 6: Envy's company because he was wearing it so much.
- 55:28Speaker 5: Never, never, I never had an ego situation When it
- 55:31Speaker 5: came to that, people would be like, you know, that's
- 55:34Speaker 5: Envy company, right, Like yep, that you know what I mean?
- 55:38Speaker 5: I don't you know, being the face of a company
- 55:40Speaker 5: is cool, but you gotta It's like and when you
- 55:44Speaker 5: think of like and I source everything back to faith,
- 55:47Speaker 5: it's just like when you ask for an anointing from
- 55:50Speaker 5: God on anything, like just know like there are blessings
- 55:53Speaker 5: that come a certain thing that curses that come with
- 55:55Speaker 5: certain things, like it's you have to be able to
- 55:58Speaker 5: deal with both, you know what I mean. So being
- 56:00Speaker 5: a face of a company, then you know, it's like
- 56:03Speaker 5: you I always I have to deal with people. I
- 56:07Speaker 5: don't even consider myself the face of the company still
- 56:09Speaker 5: to this day, because even to this day, when I
- 56:12Speaker 5: come on a podcasts and I go on different shows
- 56:14Speaker 5: and people are like, oh, you're the person the first
- 56:17Speaker 5: thing they say is, oh, that's the one envy always learning.
- 56:20Speaker 5: I'm like, it's fine with me. Like the biggest thing
- 56:23Speaker 5: is more the message to me than anything else, Like
- 56:26Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Like once I see the excitement,
- 56:29Speaker 5: I see people who say to me like, oh my god,
- 56:31Speaker 5: I was you were I saw somebody walking down the
- 56:34Speaker 5: street with the my God versus my enemy. I was
- 56:36Speaker 5: having a terrible day at work, and the brand itself
- 56:39Speaker 5: allowed me to just feel like I know my God
- 56:41Speaker 5: is going to be but victorious. And this was a
- 56:44Speaker 5: Muslim woman that was talking to me, So we didn't
- 56:46Speaker 5: have a conversation about religion. It was it was just
- 56:49Speaker 5: mainly about the message, so be in the face of
- 56:51Speaker 5: it really never bothered me. Now I don't have I
- 56:54Speaker 5: have I think I have the When it comes to ego,
- 56:57Speaker 5: I'm not. I try my best to minimalize, to minimize
- 57:01Speaker 5: minimalize my ego. In most situations, the hardest part of having,
- 57:06Speaker 5: the hardest thing about ego is is usually amongst family.
- 57:09Speaker 5: That's where egos sometimes plays the part.
- 57:13Speaker 4: So what's the what's the what's the vision of expansion? Like,
- 57:15Speaker 4: how all right?
- 57:17Speaker 3: So you have the merch You're moving a lot of merch.
- 57:20Speaker 3: Twenty five hundred items a month is a lot. So
- 57:23Speaker 3: at what point there's gonna be bigger than just your
- 57:26Speaker 3: living room? Like, right, have you thought about that as
- 57:28Speaker 3: far as like at what point do you are you
- 57:31Speaker 3: not physically able to ship twenty five hundred items or
- 57:34Speaker 3: have twenty five hundred items come to your house? And
- 57:37Speaker 3: like what's the next step for the brand?
- 57:41Speaker 4: Is it.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Things outside of merchandise or is it just different things
- 57:46Speaker 3: within the religious sphere. Is it something that might be
- 57:51Speaker 3: non religious secular clothing, like what what's what's what's the
- 57:55Speaker 3: vision going forward?
- 57:59Speaker 4: Well, we do have.
- 58:01Speaker 5: What for me, there's a few things that are in play,
- 58:05Speaker 5: and just a lot of times it's just like having
- 58:07Speaker 5: making sure that you're in alignment with your team on it.
- 58:09Speaker 5: But at the same time it's like sometimes as a leader,
- 58:13Speaker 5: you do have to make decisions. And for me, one
- 58:15Speaker 5: thing that you know, we have different shell companies in
- 58:20Speaker 5: place that have not actually like when I say that
- 58:23Speaker 5: in the sense that these these are smaller These are
- 58:26Speaker 5: smaller companies that are like basically babies of Covered by
- 58:30Speaker 5: God clothing, you know what I mean. They will deal
- 58:33Speaker 5: with faith, they will deal with politics, they will deal
- 58:36Speaker 5: with like these certain conversations that are uncomfortable. That really
- 58:42Speaker 5: that makes the brand more an opportunity for people to
- 58:45Speaker 5: speak on it without having to speak on it. That's
- 58:48Speaker 5: the biggest thing. I think. We do have a production
- 58:51Speaker 5: company that's uh that's come from this. We have Covered
- 58:57Speaker 5: by God Films and I have a short film that
- 59:01Speaker 5: came out because of that, and that was that came
- 59:04Speaker 5: out through the company that's actually won like Hollywood Holly
- 59:07Speaker 5: Shorts a bunch of the different short film festivals, like
- 59:10Speaker 5: you know what I mean. It's just the great thing
- 59:13Speaker 5: about it is that like everything from film to acting,
- 59:17Speaker 5: I mean, from film to the clothing to just what
- 59:22Speaker 5: people would call an influencer gives us. This has all
- 59:25Speaker 5: been like merged into one thing. It's because all of
- 59:29Speaker 5: this is still the plan a you know what I mean,
- 59:32Speaker 5: Like yeah, but with the company, like once it does
- 59:35Speaker 5: get bigger, which is it's big enough to move to
- 59:40Speaker 5: a specific warehouse. The goal is to have my own
- 59:45Speaker 5: Tyler Perry situation. You know, I do want to have
- 59:48Speaker 5: a space where we have the brand working out of
- 59:50Speaker 5: and I want to just I want to make money
- 59:52Speaker 5: with my friends and family, you know what I mean.
- 59:54Speaker 5: That's the biggest thing. Like if I can empower everybody
- 59:57Speaker 5: around me, that's the biggest thing. Like I have friends
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: that are clothing designs. One of my best friends we
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: went to high school, we have a we have the
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: Field Film Company together and it's still and he still
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: has his build company and and out and you know,
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: we you know, merged together. It's just an opportunity for
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: us to all shine. And one of the biggest things
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: with the company is just once I empower everyone. Once
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: we're all empowered, like we're unstoppable, you know what I mean.
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: And that's just that's just what it really comes down to,
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: Like I want my you know, I think a lot
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: of people separating themselves from they isolate themselves because of
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: the need and desire to be the main person, you
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: know what I mean. I'm not sitting around if Envy wasn't.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Like Envy's like my mentor to an extent, because I
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: watch him. He's so busy, he's always like ripping and running,
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: but he creates a balance between everything he does, you
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: know what I mean. So for me, that's that's that's
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: a big motivation for me. It's like, you know, I'm
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: learning to be a better businessman because of this company.
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: But in the same so can I get an opportunity
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: to have a downtime now, like you know what I mean,
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: because I have other people working with me. I'm sitting
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: around here memorizing monologues, writing scripts. So that's like the
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: next thing for me is definitely another clothing brand out
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: of this, and then also educating people about one of
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: the biggest thing is to be able to educate people
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: within our company, like not within our company, within our community.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: My goal is to educate people in our community how
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: to start clothing brands on their own. You know what
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: I mean, you don't. It's not the hardest process in
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: the world, you know what I mean. Once we're able
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: to everybody's so focused, like it makes people uncomfortable. Like
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: I have a lot of friends who had clothing brands
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: that felt a way because the brand took off the
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: way it did. But I'm like, yo, we can all eat,
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: you know what I mean? What you know can help me,
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: and what I'm learning can help you. We can all
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: push each other in some form or fashion.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: What would you say the most important thing that you
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: learned as far as you know, Like you said you
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: want to create a program to help people, Well, what
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: would be the biggest thing on an entrepreneur that wants
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: to start a clothing brand needs to needs to have
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: figured out?
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing that's I think it's like
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: really learning creating a step by step process for it,
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: you know what I mean. I haven't actually mastered it
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: down on paper. I could, which I'm working on in
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: this downtime. I haven't actually written it down, but to
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: create the process like where people are learning, Like what's
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: the first steps? Like, you don't have to jump out
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: the window and create this grand big website and buy
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: and do tons like it can start from I can
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: start in this room that I am. I could email somebody,
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: have them create a design, send me back a mock up,
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: and then after that I can put a I can
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: put it on a website. Doesn't have to be a
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: big Shopify website. They can start with a big Cartel
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: website and then you can start to like generate things.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: But you know, one of the biggest things is to
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: It's like I tell people, the biggest thing that I
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: tell people is don't be afraid to say I don't know.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: That's the biggest thing. If you're gonna learn anything in
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: this business, be open to saying I don't know. And
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: somebody is definitely open and willing to assist you no
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: matter what. Because somebody poured into me, I don't mind
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: pouring into people. That's what it really comes down to.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: Yeah, so your journey started with your parents wanted you
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: to be a lawyer or doctor. You went to school
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: for theatrics game.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: A party promoter.
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: Now you're you know, you're on your own clothing line.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Mom works for you?
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: Now, what's what's her thoughts now that you know you've
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: turned this thing, you've proven yourself, What's what's what's the
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: reaction now from your mom?
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: My mother? Is she old school? She's gonna still keep it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: She's not gonna say like, I'm never gonna hit her
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: like with the I'm never gonna hit her with the
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: told yourself, I've never hit her that. But she on
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: the other end still probably is like she does it
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: all the time. She was like, so have you decided
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: which one of these companies is going to be your
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: full one cap plan? What's your retire internet?
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: How much money do you have saved up? What are
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: you going to do to when are you going to
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: get married? Is your clothing company going to facilitate your
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: wife and your children? I'm like, mom, one step at
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: a time, one step out of time.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: That sounds like a mom.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: It's been a pleasure. How can people get the merch
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: telling people to social media?
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: The website? All of that information all right?
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: So uh covered by god Clothing dot com is the
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: website we even you know, another thing we purchased was
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: the My God Versus My Enemies dot com website. I mean,
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: so you type in my God versus my Enemies dot
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: com or covered by God clothing, it's going to bring
